- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to your pop now Potts from the future. You
- 0:09Speaker 1: know what you do show as out of my disrespect
- 0:15Speaker 1: the leg hippop city. Stay. Let's get right into the business.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Smoking on that, you know, smoking on it, not smoking
- 0:29Speaker 1: but smoking on it.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Stroke with the sea, with the sea, smoking on it.
- 0:38Speaker 3: That mc biel's good.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Damn we Holly wah straight Molly woh two light skins cat.
- 0:49Speaker 4: That's what I was sitting there thinking, like, damn, this
- 0:52Speaker 4: is like this is almost like the battle all over again.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm like, Yo, just.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Getting scraped and just dragged all across across the.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Field, man, ragged straight, smothered everything you could think of.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know if Mahomes got sacked again,
- 1:15Speaker 2: but that last the last one I saw when he
- 1:19Speaker 2: when he got slapped, like when the when he all
- 1:22Speaker 2: got knocked out his hand and Yo was about the
- 1:26Speaker 2: tacklee but he like slapped him. I was like, damn, like.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Damn, slap him up, take him out, no touchdown at all, Yeah, yo, man,
- 1:42Speaker 1: First and foremost, welcome to Hip Hop Now Podcast. I
- 1:45Speaker 1: ain't your host Vegas of Hip Hop Now Podcast. Me
- 1:49Speaker 1: bringing my mic a little closer, So so good. Uh,
- 1:54Speaker 1: special live stream reviewing the Super Bowl halftime. Know, obviously
- 2:01Speaker 1: you know where I stand. You see it. No, I
- 2:03Speaker 1: am not from Philly. I'm from Brooklyn, New York. But
- 2:06Speaker 1: this is my squad though with me as always, it
- 2:11Speaker 1: was only right because of how twenty twenty four played out,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and we had to pop on the live stream the
- 2:18Speaker 1: HOMIEOK is here, what's good man?
- 2:20Speaker 2: What's happened in Vegas? May think good Man? Think good
- 2:23Speaker 2: can't complain.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Can't complain at all?
- 2:26Speaker 2: Man.
- 2:26Speaker 1: The thing too, Man, I started thinking, like, you know,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I want obviously, if my team is playing, you know,
- 2:33Speaker 1: I want to see it through.
- 2:35Speaker 3: And I'm you know, I'm looking on YouTube and.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm seeing you know, different content creators reacting to the
- 2:41Speaker 1: halftime show. But I'm like, nah, there's no way I could.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I can react and kind of keep an eye on
- 2:47Speaker 1: the game because truth be told, with the Chiefs, that's
- 2:52Speaker 1: how they won the majority of their games, Like twelve
- 2:55Speaker 1: of their games this season were one in like the
- 2:58Speaker 1: last quarter, you know what, because they just were able
- 3:01Speaker 1: to get back into the game, so you really had
- 3:05Speaker 1: to snuff them out. And you know, I just wanted
- 3:09Speaker 1: to see that through. But speaking of snuffing them out. Man.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So what we're gonna do is we're gonna react to
- 3:17Speaker 1: the halftime show. You know, give y'all a few of
- 3:20Speaker 1: our thoughts and what we thought about the halftime show
- 3:24Speaker 1: in general, Kendrick's performance as well as everything else a
- 3:29Speaker 1: little Easter eggs and stuff like that. So what was
- 3:32Speaker 1: your general feeling about the halftime show by Kendrick.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Lamar professional, crisp and sharp. That was like my walk
- 3:46Speaker 2: my takeaways, you know what I mean, crisp, sharp, professional,
- 3:55Speaker 2: you know, I was I'm not sure, but I was like, damn, like.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Sissors sounds so good. It sounded like is she lips singing?
- 4:03Speaker 2: But but the but what like the performance wasn't what's
- 4:09Speaker 2: on the record. I'm like, damn, like this sounds really
- 4:14Speaker 2: really good, you know what I'm saying. And Kendrick being
- 4:19Speaker 2: shark with the you know, the editing, the self edits
- 4:23Speaker 2: now seen Like I've seen your perform on on What's
- 4:28Speaker 2: That on the Saturday Night Live where you had to
- 4:31Speaker 2: like edit himself and you know, the song got cursing
- 4:35Speaker 2: and you know, but he he edits himself. But like,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know, this is what everybody watching, everybody, So no stumbles,
- 4:47Speaker 2: you know what I mean? And yeah, man, so just
- 4:50Speaker 2: shark chrisp professional. That's like my immediate takeaway. And then
- 4:58Speaker 2: after all thats like, ya, I gotta watch this again
- 5:01Speaker 2: because I know I'm missing I'm missing stuff. So it's
- 5:05Speaker 2: another one.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Of those like I'm gonna have to run it back
- 5:09Speaker 5: because you know, everything that I'm seeing I'm probably not
- 5:14Speaker 5: I know I'm not understanding outright, So I'm gonna have
- 5:17Speaker 5: to go back and watch it again.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So that was my initial reaction.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're watching right now, definitely feel free to
- 5:27Speaker 1: put your thoughts about the halftime show or whatever in
- 5:30Speaker 1: the comments section. Will post it. Even if you feel
- 5:33Speaker 1: like Drake still won. I'll just tell you one thing.
- 5:38Speaker 1: He brought new life to smoking on that Drake pack.
- 5:41Speaker 1: That's why you were smoking Drake at your show. That's
- 5:44Speaker 1: why you were smoking.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Somebody put him out.
- 5:48Speaker 3: He could be a new hoodie, a fresh one, Okay.
- 5:53Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Like, I don't know, you might've got stomped out tonight.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You might not be smoking no more, all them ashes
- 6:00Speaker 2: everything won. You might have just got it might be done. Yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 2: I think it's done. I walked away with that too.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, I think this is like put in
- 6:11Speaker 2: a cat or not like us until you go to
- 6:16Speaker 2: the concert, the stadium tour, then you can get the
- 6:20Speaker 2: whole full fledged shit bang bang. But I think, like publicly,
- 6:26Speaker 2: you know, I don't know until further notice, I think
- 6:29Speaker 2: this might be like the cat. Like I you know,
- 6:35Speaker 2: everybody wanted to see. Everybody was wondering whether or not
- 6:39Speaker 2: they was gonna get this on the biggest stage, and
- 6:42Speaker 2: I was able to give you some some of it,
- 6:46Speaker 2: probably the most, the most legendary part aside from the
- 6:50Speaker 2: third verse, you know, the a minor and that's like
- 6:56Speaker 2: all we need, like the whole state. You know what
- 6:59Speaker 2: I'm saying. You get that? Did you get that feeling
- 7:01Speaker 2: like we're done here? That's all I needed. I don't
- 7:06Speaker 2: need like.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Here you you you.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Think it can't happen here.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It is.
- 7:12Speaker 2: We saw it at the Grammys. Here it is one
- 7:15Speaker 2: more time that we're all in agreds, that everybody is
- 7:19Speaker 2: in the grids.
- 7:20Speaker 1: What did you think, Veggas, I mean, as a as
- 7:25Speaker 1: a halftime show. I thought it was I thought it
- 7:29Speaker 1: was good. You know, obviously I'm a fan of Kendricks,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and you know, obviously I have expectations as a fan
- 7:38Speaker 1: of his, but also at the same time, man, it
- 7:43Speaker 1: felt like I was watching a music video because what
- 7:46Speaker 1: I liked about it the most wasn't necessarily just the performance,
- 7:50Speaker 1: but it was the camera work.
- 7:52Speaker 3: It was the sets. You never saw one set.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Not that you see this all the time, but sometimes
- 7:58Speaker 1: you know, some people perform at the super Bowl and
- 8:02Speaker 1: there's like, you know, either one set or maybe caught
- 8:07Speaker 1: a glimpse of another part or whatever, and they just
- 8:10Speaker 1: did a great job of moving that camera around to
- 8:14Speaker 1: catture these different scenes. It really felt like you were
- 8:17Speaker 1: watching a music video. The cisor thing I think she was.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I think it was lip sync. I just think she
- 8:25Speaker 1: recorded a new version of that, because to your point,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it was different. And what made me think about it
- 8:32Speaker 1: being her lip syning it didn't sound bad was when
- 8:36Speaker 1: Kendrick were talking to his mic. It was a clear
- 8:40Speaker 1: that he was live and her stuff was really polished
- 8:44Speaker 1: and didn't look like it was coming from her in
- 8:47Speaker 1: that environment, but it didn't take away I mean, people
- 8:52Speaker 1: wanted to hear Luther. I honestly wanted to hear All
- 8:56Speaker 1: the Stars. I love that record, but overall, you know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: I thought it was dope. Yeah, I agree with ad Spenson.
- 9:05Speaker 1: The street lights set up. I didn't peat that at first.
- 9:08Speaker 1: As soon as I saw it, I was like, oh, okay,
- 9:12Speaker 1: like this is this is more what do you think about?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Uh?
- 9:17Speaker 1: The Sanbuelo Jackson part of it, I was I was taking.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I was thrown off. I didn't.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I didn't expect it. Like I was like, oh so
- 9:27Speaker 2: I think they're and you know, there's that narrative aspect
- 9:33Speaker 2: that we can kind of expect from Kendrick like he
- 9:37Speaker 2: he does or approaches you know, his performances with some
- 9:42Speaker 2: type of narrative, but you know what he's gonna do
- 9:47Speaker 2: with it. That's the part that's unexpected. So when this
- 9:51Speaker 2: dude pop out uncle Stam, you know what I mean,
- 9:57Speaker 2: it's like, oh so that's why I said, I gotta
- 9:59Speaker 2: go and listen, because I know all that had some
- 10:03Speaker 2: type of or go back and look at it again,
- 10:05Speaker 2: because all that had some type of connected meaning, you
- 10:09Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like, you know, the red, white,
- 10:13Speaker 2: and the blue obviously is like the American flag, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 2: and I think it was, you know, something along the
- 10:22Speaker 2: lines of maybe hip hop in America, what hip hop
- 10:27Speaker 2: means to America, and you know, everybody on the edge
- 10:32Speaker 2: of the seat.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Like, oh, don't do that, what are you gonna do it?
- 10:36Speaker 2: And Stammuel was kind of carrying that that narrative, and
- 10:42Speaker 2: Kendrick was like jabbing at it, you know what I mean,
- 10:46Speaker 2: until you know, he finally you know, dropped it. But
- 10:51Speaker 2: even like with the setups, it was like, it's different.
- 10:55Speaker 2: So it was setups. It's very like cinema move Like
- 11:00Speaker 2: he had set up and he had payoffs, you know
- 11:04Speaker 2: what I mean, which is a cinematic movie type of
- 11:08Speaker 2: you know approach. So yeah, man, so Samuel, I wasn't
- 11:14Speaker 2: expecting it. I thought it was dope.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah it I like you said, I think what I
- 11:21Speaker 1: like most about it, it's kind of what you're used
- 11:24Speaker 1: to with with Kendrick Lamar his albums typically his performances
- 11:30Speaker 1: that aren't like because like the Pop Hour was more
- 11:32Speaker 1: like it almost was like spontaneous. So he created something
- 11:37Speaker 1: on the fly with the whole gang situation. But we
- 11:40Speaker 1: all know when he got time, it's a big it's
- 11:44Speaker 1: a big difference, you know what I'm saying. As far
- 11:46Speaker 1: as the presentation, and one of the things that I
- 11:51Speaker 1: liked about it was I think that one part where
- 11:55Speaker 1: what was what was the song he was doing Man
- 11:57Speaker 1: at the Garden. Yeah, I'm willing to bet all those
- 12:01Speaker 1: dudes was from New Orleans. They all because they were
- 12:06Speaker 1: doing some kind of harmony type things. So I'm like, Yo,
- 12:09Speaker 1: this must be a group you know what I'm saying,
- 12:12Speaker 1: that does this, And all of them had gold teeth,
- 12:16Speaker 1: like and it didn't look like, oh we got gold
- 12:19Speaker 1: teeth for this thing. It's looked like nah, how we
- 12:23Speaker 1: looked all the time like which which was dope? You
- 12:28Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Salute sp Let's let's look at
- 12:33Speaker 1: a few few things real quick. A few images. Oh,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I didn't mean to put that one. Oh, Happy Black
- 12:47Speaker 1: History Month, y'all.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Damn game over.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Over, Doug. This was dope for scenery, you know, him
- 12:58Speaker 1: wrapping on top of the the gene next joint. This
- 13:02Speaker 1: is what you mentioned. I love that that it was
- 13:05Speaker 1: like the American flag, but it's all brothers up there. Also,
- 13:11Speaker 1: don't get it twisted. Yeah, this is a nice shot too.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Sizza stay right there, just right there, Okay.
- 13:20Speaker 6: Slinky just slagging all over the stage, right, Oh man,
- 13:30Speaker 6: oh man?
- 13:33Speaker 2: What yo?
- 13:38Speaker 1: When Serena popped up dog. What were you thinking when
- 13:41Speaker 1: you saw that?
- 13:42Speaker 2: I was like, yo's that No, that ain't I'm like,
- 13:47Speaker 2: yeah it is, I'll say, yoh man.
- 13:53Speaker 7: Yeah yeah man, crescendo type like yo, like we're just
- 13:59Speaker 7: going to we just leave it there, man, you know
- 14:04Speaker 7: what I mean, I'm gonna put the just put another
- 14:07Speaker 7: daggon and and and and twisted.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Man, you know what I mean? You got you got
- 14:13Speaker 2: the bullet hole hoodie.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Well you know what I mean.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Let me put another bullet you know, I don't know,
- 14:21Speaker 2: Like I said, it got stamped out the night. You
- 14:24Speaker 2: ain't smoking no more like you got you got stamped
- 14:27Speaker 2: out to night. Man. It might have been Serena. Man,
- 14:30Speaker 2: it might have been Serena. Krick Rock and just put
- 14:34Speaker 2: him out. He's smoking. Put him out smoking. What was
- 14:37Speaker 2: crazy about this whole Serena thing? Serena and he drinking?
- 14:43Speaker 1: These shots in particular, they were looking dead in the camera,
- 14:47Speaker 1: like they were right in the Cameras soon as he
- 14:49Speaker 1: said say Drake, look right in the camera. I hear
- 14:53Speaker 1: you like him, young yo. I was losing.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I was like, you.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Really saying this on the stage at the Super Bowl.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I think I think some of y'all are like some
- 15:04Speaker 1: of y'all would think, like, oh, what's the big deal,
- 15:06Speaker 1: it's the Super Bowl, Like when the numbers come out,
- 15:10Speaker 1: then you don't understand how many people were watching what
- 15:13Speaker 1: he was doing to Drake. And if you feel like
- 15:17Speaker 1: he should sue, wow, say Drake, that is the face
- 15:25Speaker 1: of a very diabolical individual, like, Hey, I just burned
- 15:31Speaker 1: your house down, but I got your keys right here
- 15:33Speaker 1: in my pocket.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I don't know, man, that whole stadium man with a
- 15:39Speaker 2: minor man, I don't. Yeah, It's like, yo, what more
- 15:44Speaker 2: do you like? That's what we knew. We knew that
- 15:47Speaker 2: was going to happen, and then it happened, you know
- 15:50Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 15:51Speaker 1: We knew it.
- 15:52Speaker 2: He knew that was gonna that was gonna be the case.
- 15:55Speaker 2: But then when it really is the case, it's like,
- 15:58Speaker 2: damn man, Like.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in a lot of ways, when you
- 16:05Speaker 1: know it wasn't really well, it did something that I
- 16:09Speaker 1: could say negative, but I don't think it's that much
- 16:12Speaker 1: of a negative. It might have been too many songs
- 16:17Speaker 1: because it felt like I knew there was a time
- 16:19Speaker 1: limit and it felt like he needed to get a
- 16:22Speaker 1: couple joints off it felt like it was slowing down
- 16:26Speaker 1: once like the scissor part came because it was like,
- 16:28Speaker 1: all right, you know, we're getting into it. But it
- 16:31Speaker 1: was almost like he was trying to get a certain
- 16:35Speaker 1: track list, and some of those earlier songs felt like
- 16:38Speaker 1: they got a little bit of a rush, which wasn't bad,
- 16:42Speaker 1: like everybody's saying, you know, you gotta watch it again.
- 16:46Speaker 1: But the te's to not like us was crazy because
- 16:51Speaker 1: he said, y'all want me to perform his favorite song
- 16:56Speaker 1: or y'all favorite song, but he loved to sue.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Outright told anybody right, that was the That was the
- 17:10Speaker 2: response to the to the lawsuit, like, well, we get
- 17:15Speaker 2: to talk about this live on stage.
- 17:19Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 17:20Speaker 2: Like right here, you know what the whole reason for it.
- 17:24Speaker 2: And I think you and I talked about that man
- 17:27Speaker 2: offline or maybe we was even on one of the
- 17:31Speaker 2: you know, one of the podcasts, like that whole strategy
- 17:34Speaker 2: was to prevent this from happening. Like I don't even
- 17:39Speaker 2: think he's really I mean, I could be wrong. You know,
- 17:43Speaker 2: maybe it is about the dough and all that, but
- 17:46Speaker 2: I I think it was for him not to perform
- 17:51Speaker 2: that song, like to try to scare the NFL to
- 17:57Speaker 2: try to get the Grammy committee to look at it differently,
- 18:02Speaker 2: and it just it didn't work. Man, it didn't work.
- 18:08Speaker 2: It felt like miserably, but go ahead.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you're right, it did. And I think for
- 18:15Speaker 1: any of you OVI hos that may be watching right,
- 18:18Speaker 1: don't get it twisted. A lot of Drake music in
- 18:22Speaker 1: my catalog. But he asked for this, and we are
- 18:26Speaker 1: in hip hop. He was begging Kendrick to drop, literally
- 18:30Speaker 1: begging him on record, posting on ig before we even
- 18:35Speaker 1: heard you for it, and he took it to the
- 18:39Speaker 1: personal situation. And now trying to play victim seems crazy
- 18:44Speaker 1: because to your point, there was a lot of things
- 18:48Speaker 1: that made me feel like they were trying to do
- 18:52Speaker 1: things to take away from what was happening between the
- 18:55Speaker 1: Grammys and the super Bowl, and it did nothing. Because
- 18:58Speaker 1: you had Drake obviously having his tour, and because he's
- 19:03Speaker 1: the victim, everybody's you know, looking to see what is
- 19:06Speaker 1: he doing, and you know, like when you're looking sad
- 19:09Speaker 1: walking around with the smoke coming out your back, you
- 19:11Speaker 1: look because his face didn't look it was a bad move.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it didn't even I mean, and I could
- 19:20Speaker 2: be wrong because I didn't. I just I just seen
- 19:23Speaker 2: the pictures that that shot that still frame him walking
- 19:27Speaker 2: out and with the homie with his hand around his shoulders.
- 19:32Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yo, he just looked, he looked, he looked defeated. He
- 19:38Speaker 2: looked like, feel sorry for me. And I don't know
- 19:41Speaker 2: if that was just a bad you know sometimes people
- 19:44Speaker 2: take a bad picture. But it just damn brit Damn man.
- 19:50Speaker 1: You watched the video with him walking down the steps. Boy,
- 19:52Speaker 1: he looked like he got hit up, like his whole
- 19:55Speaker 1: face like, damn, I'm dad man, look at me. And
- 20:01Speaker 1: but the thing I was gonna say is, you know
- 20:04Speaker 1: there was the tour, and you know he's trying to
- 20:06Speaker 1: extract some attention because regardless if people may feel like
- 20:11Speaker 1: it's intentional, the thing is is it is intentional because
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know that people are going to look and see
- 20:19Speaker 1: and talk about you during the week. That's really all
- 20:22Speaker 1: about Kendrick. Same thing with Lil Wayne, you know, dropping
- 20:26Speaker 1: commercials announcing the new album that it's not coming out
- 20:29Speaker 1: until June. Somebody said on Twitter, I think like Wayne
- 20:34Speaker 1: would have had that shoint, that joint jumping, Which Wayne,
- 20:37Speaker 1: are you talking about? You gotta you gotta deloreate because
- 20:40Speaker 1: the Wayne we see now is a junkie.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Like inaudible as.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Sound like coming out here, it would have been sloppy.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Let's stop it, let's stop, let's stop it. We already
- 20:58Speaker 2: know what it'd be like because we got the examples.
- 21:01Speaker 2: We can look at shows now that they're not. It's
- 21:05Speaker 2: not sharp, yo, it's it's not.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Now. And for those who don't know, like what show okay,
- 21:13Speaker 1: little easy anafests exhibit A, right, just hollering into the mic,
- 21:20Speaker 1: not really saying nothing. I don't even know what song
- 21:22Speaker 1: that was. And WrestleMania last year because I was hate
- 21:26Speaker 1: that they had Lil Wayne and when he came out,
- 21:30Speaker 1: he barely did a song and I was like, but
- 21:32Speaker 1: what the hell is? I didn't know what was going on?
- 21:34Speaker 1: But apparently, you know, they probably was like, get your
- 21:39Speaker 1: junkie ass off the bringing the rock, you know what
- 21:43Speaker 1: I'm saying. But again, you know, doing all of that
- 21:47Speaker 1: during this week to try to say, yo, we're still here.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Everything they do is backfiring because they think they're untouchable.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And to me, the thing about it is they keep
- 22:00Speaker 1: playing into this situation. They keep giving it life, right,
- 22:06Speaker 1: you know, I think if Drake would have like after
- 22:09Speaker 1: the Hart part six, just like you know, I'm gonna
- 22:12Speaker 1: put my head down work on this album with Playboy
- 22:15Speaker 1: Carti and then I'm gonna do a show and that
- 22:18Speaker 1: speech he gave yo, my name is Drake. You know
- 22:21Speaker 1: I came to the game in two thousand and eight.
- 22:23Speaker 1: It would have been perfect. It just would have been
- 22:25Speaker 1: like Battles over re into Drake. But he's done so
- 22:29Speaker 1: many things to make himself look bad. And again, like
- 22:33Speaker 1: I said on my podcast, for someone where you can
- 22:36Speaker 1: go and watch the video, all the PDF talk and everything,
- 22:40Speaker 1: but especially at that joint with Lebron the shop where
- 22:46Speaker 1: he said I studied battlerap for a living. Do you
- 22:54Speaker 1: defamation Lawson? Never?
- 22:57Speaker 2: In Yeah, with all the battle you are the contributor. Now,
- 23:05Speaker 2: so for everybody else that studies battle rap, this is
- 23:09Speaker 2: what you entered into it. The moment that somebody decided
- 23:14Speaker 2: to sue. That is your legacy to battle rap history.
- 23:19Speaker 2: For anybody that's studying it from now on, you are
- 23:22Speaker 2: the first, the last. Now I don't even know if
- 23:26Speaker 2: the last, hopefully the last, but you are the first
- 23:30Speaker 2: to ever do that. Everybody else is you know, taking
- 23:34Speaker 2: the hit on the chin, did what they had to do.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Maybe they it's done, their career is done, you know
- 23:40Speaker 2: what I mean. But nobody like you are the first
- 23:44Speaker 2: to actually take it to court.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 23:48Speaker 2: That is your legacy and hip hop. Now not maybe
- 23:54Speaker 2: not music, you know what I'm saying, but your legacy
- 23:57Speaker 2: and hip hop. You are the dude that lost battle
- 24:01Speaker 2: and wanted to suit. That's that's him.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's pretty crazy.
- 24:08Speaker 2: You're that he's that guy. He's that guy aside from
- 24:14Speaker 2: a minor like right, right, right, he's that guy. So
- 24:19Speaker 2: when my son gets older and I tell him about
- 24:22Speaker 2: the song that he used to dance to when he
- 24:24Speaker 2: was two years old, and you know, I'm explaining the history,
- 24:30Speaker 2: you see what I'm saying. Vegas Like, I'm like, you
- 24:34Speaker 2: know this guy, the guy he was talking about, you
- 24:37Speaker 2: know you wanted to take him to court because he
- 24:39Speaker 2: thought the things that were being said about him.
- 24:42Speaker 1: What you mean?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yo?
- 24:47Speaker 3: Shout out to everybody in the chat.
- 24:49Speaker 1: If you have comments regarding the halftime show, please definitely
- 24:54Speaker 1: leave him there. We respond to him. I also post
- 24:56Speaker 1: him on the video. I think so as a as
- 25:02Speaker 1: a halftime show for rappers. What do you think beyond
- 25:09Speaker 1: the Drake stuff, because that's the obvious thing, that's what
- 25:11Speaker 1: everybody loves, that's what we're talking about, what everybody else
- 25:14Speaker 1: is talking about. What does this do for Hendrick? You
- 25:18Speaker 1: think beyond you know, what we've pointed out so far,
- 25:24Speaker 1: because also when he started, I was like, that's a
- 25:29Speaker 1: new record and he was rapping on the car. That's
- 25:33Speaker 1: not a record that's on gen X. So do you
- 25:37Speaker 1: think beyond the tour? What do you think is like
- 25:41Speaker 1: the results of this situation, the results or the success
- 25:45Speaker 1: or whatever of this halftime show.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I think, you know, again this as to as to
- 25:56Speaker 2: Kendrick's legacy, I'm not going to jump out there and
- 26:00Speaker 2: say new music. I'm not gonna jump out there and
- 26:05Speaker 2: say that. I'm not sure he's gonna do that because
- 26:11Speaker 2: there's been other times where and his performances like he's
- 26:16Speaker 2: done this, like you get this music, or you get
- 26:20Speaker 2: this verse or something that you never heard before. You know, Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I think you know, this was like a sneak preview
- 26:35Speaker 2: to the to the tour. So I think this is
- 26:38Speaker 2: business too, Like, yep, I'm gonna go up here, I'm
- 26:41Speaker 2: gonna do my thing. At the halftime show. But if
- 26:43Speaker 2: you want the full shit bang bang.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yo. Them tickets they they on sale. Them stadium joints,
- 26:51Speaker 1: they on sale. So like what you got within the narrative.
- 26:57Speaker 1: And you know those those folks that are shown enough fans,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you know the worst, you know the verses and you
- 27:03Speaker 1: know he had the trunk Kate.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, when you get to the show, I'm gonna it's
- 27:09Speaker 2: gonna be the full, the full versus you're gonna get
- 27:13Speaker 2: the full you know, all the stars, you know. So
- 27:17Speaker 2: I think I think, you know, a piece of it
- 27:22Speaker 2: is that as well, just looking at it from a
- 27:26Speaker 2: business perspective, is to push the the tour, the stadium
- 27:31Speaker 2: tour again, I'm not I'm not sure. A new album,
- 27:37Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I don't know because he's done stuff like that before,
- 27:46Speaker 2: but who knows. Like that's what you know, That's what
- 27:51Speaker 2: a lot of people were thinking with Squabble up on
- 27:55Speaker 2: the beginning of of Not Like Us, and that ended
- 28:01Speaker 2: up being a full flag song on an album, right,
- 28:06Speaker 2: you know. So I think a big piece of it
- 28:09Speaker 2: is to keep us guessing and to keep us on it,
- 28:13Speaker 2: on the edge of seat and keep us all right man,
- 28:16Speaker 2: what you what you what you're going through next? But
- 28:19Speaker 2: you know, I think a big piece of this is
- 28:21Speaker 2: the sell that that stadium tour.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that because when you think about it,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you announced being your next tour. Why would you drop
- 28:31Speaker 1: another album? Right like this is this is linked to
- 28:36Speaker 1: the album. But what I think could possibly happen because
- 28:40Speaker 1: it's a it's a trend in music now, is a
- 28:43Speaker 1: deluxe version. Scissors just dropped her deluxe version of her
- 28:47Speaker 1: album that came out a while ago. I could see
- 28:50Speaker 1: him dropping a deluxe that maybe has What's to Watch
- 28:54Speaker 1: the Party Die type joint, maybe this and maybe something
- 29:00Speaker 1: and else as a deluxe so it's still gn X,
- 29:04Speaker 1: but you're getting these bonus tracks along with that. But
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think I think it was dope to pack a
- 29:11Speaker 1: lot of that in Now. There were a whole bunch
- 29:13Speaker 1: of things Easter egg wise, like everybody saying, like you said,
- 29:20Speaker 1: you might have to watch it again to see stuff
- 29:22Speaker 1: that was there. Like I didn't peep the a minor
- 29:26Speaker 1: flags with the you didn't see that with the kind
- 29:30Speaker 1: of photo it was. Who was running around with flags
- 29:35Speaker 1: that had silhouettes two children reaching for a and a
- 29:40Speaker 1: was an a minor, and I was just like, oh no,
- 29:45Speaker 1: I didn't even see that. I was like, I didn't
- 29:50Speaker 1: even see that, Like this is this is crazy? Uh man,
- 29:58Speaker 1: Damn it got That's what I mean. Like there's probably
- 30:02Speaker 1: some stuff there that we didn't know. There was also,
- 30:05Speaker 1: I guess a dude who I suppose a dude who
- 30:09Speaker 1: ran out out there with the I think he had
- 30:13Speaker 1: a Palestine flag forgive me if I'm getting it wrong
- 30:15Speaker 1: or whatever, like a protester and was in there with
- 30:19Speaker 1: the you know, waving a flag. And then you can
- 30:21Speaker 1: see security coming for him. Uh So it was a
- 30:26Speaker 1: lot going on, damn on the stage. Yeah it was.
- 30:30Speaker 1: It was a lot.
- 30:32Speaker 2: But I ain't even keep that.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Yeah, like to but to your point, I mean.
- 30:44Speaker 2: One of them what you say, say for all that
- 30:48Speaker 2: that happened, and yo, do all this verses because I
- 30:55Speaker 2: didn't even know because I was paying attention to the performers.
- 30:58Speaker 2: I ain't even peep that somebody tried to.
- 31:01Speaker 1: On the stage. Yeah, there was a video they were
- 31:05Speaker 1: on the stage. They was on the whip with the flag.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I guess when Kendrick went down, and you know, the
- 31:11Speaker 1: cameras and all the attention was in the on a
- 31:14Speaker 1: different scene on the set, this guy was there, you know,
- 31:18Speaker 1: waving that flag as a protester.
- 31:22Speaker 3: You know, obviously probably snuck up there on.
- 31:24Speaker 1: The low because you see Sy, you see him get
- 31:28Speaker 1: down to dart off and then you see security coming from.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I was like, oh not going on.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Wow. Uh.
- 31:42Speaker 1: To your point about the suing part with Drake, do
- 31:48Speaker 1: you think he will even attempt to sue the NFL
- 31:56Speaker 1: and Fox and whoever else is a socialid with this,
- 32:00Speaker 1: because when you think about it, for one, you know,
- 32:04Speaker 1: I'm just gonna answer real quick. I think between the Grammys,
- 32:10Speaker 1: because remember him winning not like a winning for not
- 32:14Speaker 1: like us.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Wasn't just the big thing.
- 32:16Speaker 1: The big thing was that they were purposely cutting to
- 32:19Speaker 1: different people dancing to the record. Now you can say, oh,
- 32:23Speaker 1: well they always kind of do that, but considering the
- 32:26Speaker 1: record and you cutting to Beyonce and Taylor Swift and
- 32:31Speaker 1: jay Z and all these different people, and you know,
- 32:33Speaker 1: he's getting all these awards, and now you're at Super
- 32:36Speaker 1: Bowl and you see Kendrick face.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Like you, he's looking like you can't do anything. These
- 32:42Speaker 3: white people want you to come with the lawyers like.
- 32:49Speaker 2: It was.
- 32:50Speaker 3: It's almost like what did Drake do to make these
- 32:53Speaker 3: people hate him so much?
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think.
- 33:01Speaker 2: I think it's yo, man, it's futile. It got song
- 33:07Speaker 2: of the Year and Song of the Years lyrics like
- 33:12Speaker 2: we're we're past all of that, Like, yo, you can't
- 33:17Speaker 2: you want to see the world, you can't, like, yo, man, No,
- 33:24Speaker 2: Like it's it's futile. It's futile. And even with this
- 33:29Speaker 2: with the with the NFL, you know, Kendrick censored itself,
- 33:34Speaker 2: like he didn't call him a pedophile.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Right right, you know what I mean.
- 33:38Speaker 2: So he cut that part out, you know, and yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 2: and the crowd he said the a minor, but the
- 33:47Speaker 2: crowd was the was the ad lib that's backing it up, Like,
- 33:53Speaker 2: I think it's futile. Man. If he if he does that,
- 33:58Speaker 2: I think it's I think it's futile. Like now it's
- 34:02Speaker 2: time for Kendrick to put this bed, put this to bed.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think that's what the big game
- 34:12Speaker 1: over in the crowd was.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I think that's exactly what it was at this point, Like, yo,
- 34:19Speaker 1: you know, we we're trying to we're trying to put
- 34:22Speaker 1: a cap on this now. Granted he's going to performing
- 34:27Speaker 1: at those shows, I mean.
- 34:29Speaker 2: It's but publicly, I think this is this might be
- 34:35Speaker 2: it though, right and truth be told like shows wise,
- 34:40Speaker 2: like big platform wise. But oh no, I think he
- 34:44Speaker 2: won't get the people what they pay for, right the
- 34:47Speaker 2: stadiums they wanted, they paid good money. They want to
- 34:53Speaker 2: see that. They want they want to pop out, just
- 34:56Speaker 2: like anybody else is popping.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Out right right right, Like if I'm mad that show,
- 35:01Speaker 1: you better perform it.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Yo, what did you think when Euphoria when that when
- 35:06Speaker 2: that came up? Like, what did you think?
- 35:08Speaker 3: At first?
- 35:09Speaker 1: I didn't. I wasn't really paying attention. I was like, yo,
- 35:12Speaker 1: you performing Euphoria? So I knew once he performed that,
- 35:17Speaker 1: I was like, oh, he's definitely performing, not like us,
- 35:19Speaker 1: Like he's just throwing it in there, and you know,
- 35:23Speaker 1: truth be told publicly As far as us at home watching,
- 35:29Speaker 1: he's only performed it twice. Now, I get it. He
- 35:32Speaker 1: did it nine times at the PopOut, but you know
- 35:36Speaker 1: he didn't perform it at the Grammys. He just won
- 35:39Speaker 1: five Grammys for it. So you keep hearing it. And
- 35:42Speaker 1: the NFL was already letting you know what the promo like, yeah,
- 35:47Speaker 1: y'all gonna hear this y'all gonna get this record because
- 35:49Speaker 1: there's no way you playing a promo right and you're
- 35:54Speaker 1: not gonna play the song. That's crazy, you know to
- 35:56Speaker 1: do that. I got the image of the flag I
- 36:02Speaker 1: was talking about, Oh wow, Saedan Gayza, he was on
- 36:08Speaker 1: the stage. Wow, you're somebody officials or whoever in the background.
- 36:15Speaker 1: But eventually I saw the video. Eventually, you know, they
- 36:19Speaker 1: pull up like, hey, he ain't supposed to be here, and.
- 36:26Speaker 2: He's like, yo, who's yo? Who's yo?
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yeah, just snuck up there, probably had it rolled up
- 36:33Speaker 1: in the sleeve like yeah wow, which was it's just crazy. Oh,
- 36:43Speaker 1: let's see if you want Kendrick to put this to bed,
- 36:45Speaker 1: don't gas Drake up. Hey, that's what I mean. Man
- 36:49Speaker 1: like Drake needs to stop listening to those people, right,
- 36:52Speaker 1: those people who are telling them, nah, you're still the
- 36:54Speaker 1: sixth God and blah blah blah yo he's he should
- 36:59Speaker 1: have just went and dumped in the background and just see,
- 37:03Speaker 1: I'm working some music, come out with the stuff that
- 37:06Speaker 1: people like. But round twos, you know, tooting your lips
- 37:12Speaker 1: out while you're in the mall. You're thirty seven with
- 37:15Speaker 1: a bunch of other grown dudes, and I got a
- 37:18Speaker 1: weird case. Why is he around? Like, come on, man,
- 37:20Speaker 1: I would be hurried if I was him, Like, damn,
- 37:23Speaker 1: why I gotta catch straight at the.
- 37:27Speaker 2: You know, man, that man is a bar lies he around.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Around and you know that somebody somebody Mom's watching, Who's like,
- 37:42Speaker 1: who's baka? And why is he around? What do you
- 37:45Speaker 1: mean by that? You know what I'm saying, It's just crazy?
- 37:51Speaker 2: Uh?
- 37:52Speaker 1: What do you say? Drake want to subliminate? Respond and
- 37:55Speaker 1: Kendrick is going through this and mart I hope not.
- 38:00Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 38:01Speaker 1: At this point, we've never seen somebody like we can
- 38:05Speaker 1: say what we want about Joe Rule. It was interesting
- 38:08Speaker 1: to see somebody like who was successful basically fall off
- 38:13Speaker 1: because another guy said they corny and he turned around
- 38:16Speaker 1: and did his style. It's different Drake. Drake is still
- 38:22Speaker 1: huge his fall off. He's still bigger than Ja Rule
- 38:27Speaker 1: as a fall off. And that's no disrespect to Joe
- 38:29Speaker 1: Rule or Empty Shine or anybody who took the ebum.
- 38:35Speaker 3: But he got a chill because.
- 38:38Speaker 1: It, like I said, it could turn into like we
- 38:42Speaker 1: like wear drink and we just see him in front
- 38:45Speaker 1: of the seven eleven, like with the mad twelve o'clock
- 38:49Speaker 1: Shadow and the sun roof missing, and you just like, damn,
- 38:53Speaker 1: he really he really dissed this nigga out of the
- 38:56Speaker 1: music industry.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Like I'm telling you, yo, he gotta stop, yo, because
- 39:04Speaker 2: you're starting to eat Yo. You get in the cannabis, Like, Yo,
- 39:09Speaker 2: I got thirty rhymes. I got thirty rhymes in this book. Yo,
- 39:14Speaker 2: y'all want to hear him or not?
- 39:16Speaker 8: Like it's like, YO, think I think we're done here,
- 39:21Speaker 8: Like I thinkure, I think it's over yo, Like Yo,
- 39:25Speaker 8: you pulled the book out talking about Yo, I got
- 39:27Speaker 8: to Yo, the battles over with.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Yo's done? Like nah, we actually don't even want to
- 39:35Speaker 2: hear the rhymes, like Yo, chill. Yeah.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I think at some point I would hope Drake just says,
- 39:47Speaker 1: I'm just not going to address it anymore, because that's
- 39:49Speaker 1: the problem, right, Like every time he tries to subliminately
- 39:54Speaker 1: or directly or say something smart or even quote, like
- 39:57Speaker 1: a couple of times he tried to quote stuff from Kendrick,
- 40:02Speaker 1: you know, because you know everybody likes the lines and
- 40:04Speaker 1: having fun with the lines. He can't get over. What
- 40:08Speaker 1: he needed to realize is, at no point did we
- 40:12Speaker 1: ever think you were tough. You can't with tough guys,
- 40:19Speaker 1: according to Kendrick who don't like you, But that's what happens. See,
- 40:22Speaker 1: this is this is what happened tonight. We know this
- 40:26Speaker 1: because we say it all the time. Samuel Jackson said it.
- 40:32Speaker 1: The ghetto was at super Bowl and some of y'all
- 40:36Speaker 1: think is marketing. Y'all not used to it, y'all not
- 40:40Speaker 1: used to what you just saw in the background a
- 40:44Speaker 1: dude not even moving and the nigga just vanished from
- 40:46Speaker 1: behind him, and the dude who is your friend, was
- 40:49Speaker 1: dancing and now he's doing push ups. You can't explain
- 40:52Speaker 1: it because the ghetto is just like that. Like you,
- 40:55Speaker 1: We've been in those situations where you sitting around people
- 40:59Speaker 1: and the corny do who everybody knows what's corny, but
- 41:01Speaker 1: he live around, live in the same neighborhood, so he
- 41:03Speaker 1: kind of with us. He get out of pocket, he
- 41:06Speaker 1: gets snuffed. He's looking at everybody like hey what, and
- 41:10Speaker 1: we're looking like that. Don't that don't compute to some
- 41:18Speaker 1: people who are watching some of the stuff on fold.
- 41:21Speaker 1: You see the way Serena Williams looking in that camera
- 41:25Speaker 1: watching trip walking, like oh, Serena Williams is here.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Nah man Serena from.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Compton right, like looking into this man soul.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Right, I think it's I think it's interesting, uh.
- 41:43Speaker 1: That this would happen. He's going to be slick this
- 41:45Speaker 1: and make a full hip hop album thinking he's the
- 41:49Speaker 1: issue again when people don't care. Dang they already.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Yeah, man, yeah, I saw that he got. You know,
- 42:03Speaker 2: I think he supposed to drop next week. He's supposed
- 42:05Speaker 2: to drop next week with Party next Door.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Yeah, next Friday. I think in a lot of ways,
- 42:13Speaker 1: as long as he keeps that about you know, if
- 42:18Speaker 1: it's a love kind of album, right, because that's what
- 42:21Speaker 1: it says. It's like love songs and stuff like that. No,
- 42:24Speaker 1: subliminals don't eat like it. It has no place on
- 42:28Speaker 1: an album like that, right would. I mean it could be,
- 42:33Speaker 1: but just don't remind people of this because you you
- 42:39Speaker 1: can make it disappear. Kendrick's not coming outside every five
- 42:43Speaker 1: minutes and reminding us. Not like us. It's every time
- 42:46Speaker 1: you remind us of the battle that people pop up
- 42:50Speaker 1: with Kendricks and blah blah blah. And I think in
- 42:54Speaker 1: a lot of ways, he he just has to. I know,
- 42:58Speaker 1: it's difficulty. Gotta get over it, you know what I'm saying,
- 43:02Speaker 1: Like at the end of the day, Oh lo, what
- 43:04Speaker 1: are you saying? Shut out dancing? Lops of one? Hope
- 43:09Speaker 1: Drake the didler? What the diddler was watching the way
- 43:14Speaker 1: caught Kate God smiled to the camera and said, say,
- 43:17Speaker 1: Drake props the serena. Yeah, Yo, when that did that
- 43:25Speaker 1: part hit you the way it hit me as far
- 43:27Speaker 1: as I don't. I mean, I guess I wasn't expecting
- 43:31Speaker 1: Kendrick to look right in the camera and smile like
- 43:34Speaker 1: that when he said it, Yo, Like and I mean
- 43:40Speaker 1: this when I say that, that's it. When he did that.
- 43:49Speaker 2: The way that I interpreted that is like, Yo, you
- 43:57Speaker 2: know whatever you try to do behind the scene, like
- 44:01Speaker 2: I know, but Yo, it's here now and I'm talking
- 44:05Speaker 2: directly to you. And it's funny. I'm still clowning because
- 44:10Speaker 2: a lot of this is like that song, not like us.
- 44:13Speaker 2: A lot it's clowning, you know what I'm saying. It's clowning, Yo, Yo,
- 44:22Speaker 2: yo doing it man.
- 44:25Speaker 1: You know.
- 44:26Speaker 2: But I do think I think publicly on on the
- 44:30Speaker 2: big stages like this, I think I think he might
- 44:35Speaker 2: put it. I think he might put a cap on it.
- 44:37Speaker 2: I think you want to see it perform and can
- 44:41Speaker 2: be performed more. I think you go to the shows.
- 44:44Speaker 2: But I don't expect to see this on like BT
- 44:49Speaker 2: or you know, some late night show or something like that.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I don't think he's gonna I don't think he's gonna
- 44:56Speaker 2: do that unless they come with a bag, a big
- 44:59Speaker 2: bag and he's like, no, I gotta do it, because
- 45:02Speaker 2: you know what I mean. But I think this might
- 45:05Speaker 2: be the cat. I think we'll see.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in a lot of ways, Like we
- 45:12Speaker 1: knew this was going to happen during the summer. That's
- 45:15Speaker 1: what people can't forget. Oh why is he still doing that?
- 45:18Speaker 1: We already knew this was gonna happen Award season and
- 45:22Speaker 1: the super Bowl. Yeah, we didn't know about the GNX album.
- 45:26Speaker 1: We didn't know about the tour, but we knew those
- 45:29Speaker 1: two things were gonna bring it right back up, you
- 45:32Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And here we are, you know.
- 45:36Speaker 2: And it was always the question of the succession.
- 45:40Speaker 1: For me.
- 45:41Speaker 2: It was all like, yo, he win, if he won
- 45:44Speaker 2: award for this, it's gonna be nuts. Yeah he won five.
- 45:54Speaker 1: And then the next week, so of course Vegas.
- 45:59Speaker 2: To get back to your original question. Of course he's
- 46:01Speaker 2: gonna look dead at the after the five too, He's
- 46:06Speaker 2: gonna he's gonna look dead at the camera on the
- 46:10Speaker 2: skip to my Louse, like six.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Didn't see it like this with the a minor chain.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Come on, Oh no, David Lewis Love says Drake Someway,
- 46:31Speaker 1: saying they should have never gave you niggas money.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Do you think that was the Samuel Maybe that was
- 46:39Speaker 2: like a figurative way of saying that, like Samuel.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I think Samuel Jackson was in some ways obviously he
- 46:49Speaker 1: was uncle Sam, but in some ways playing the same
- 46:52Speaker 1: character from Djingo Oh oh, Steven, Yeah, because he was
- 46:59Speaker 1: trying to like, you know, like this should be order,
- 47:04Speaker 1: you know, this is don't do like I thought it
- 47:09Speaker 1: was priceless that as he was like he performed Drake
- 47:14Speaker 1: I Forge it was songs, not Drake Kendricks performed, where
- 47:18Speaker 1: Samuel Jackson was like, that's more like it.
- 47:21Speaker 3: That's America coming together, blah blah blah, and then burn
- 47:25Speaker 3: burn burner, and he just froze up the.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Screen like no, it might have been like all the stars.
- 47:34Speaker 2: It might have been all the stars. It was one
- 47:36Speaker 2: of the Yeah Still records. I think it was like yeah, which.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Is crazy when you think about it, because, honestly, I
- 47:47Speaker 1: know there's some people like, don't get me wrong, we
- 47:51Speaker 1: like obviously we like Kendrick as an artist, but then
- 47:55Speaker 1: there are the stands who were all the greatest Super
- 47:59Speaker 1: Bowl performing. I know it exists on social media already.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I thought it was dope just because it was more
- 48:07Speaker 1: than a performance. Right, you have Samuel L. Jackson.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Basically it's almost.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Like a It could only like the show, Like you said,
- 48:16Speaker 1: the show could be like this, right, that character could
- 48:19Speaker 1: be in the show. I don't think it's gonna happen,
- 48:22Speaker 1: but having actor like Samuel Jackson as a part of
- 48:27Speaker 1: this to kind of be the narrator and still subliminals
- 48:33Speaker 1: were placed within what he was saying, why he was there,
- 48:36Speaker 1: what he represented, what Kendrick's music represents, and what he
- 48:40Speaker 1: was saying.
- 48:41Speaker 3: I just thought it was dope the way it was
- 48:43Speaker 3: put together.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I mean, y'all already, No, when it comes to greatest performance,
- 48:47Speaker 1: it ain't because they rained during Purple Rain. I love Prince,
- 48:51Speaker 1: but Michael Jackson stood on the stage for fifteen motherfucking
- 48:55Speaker 1: minutes and everybody just rained you didn't even know, and
- 49:00Speaker 1: they screamed loud and when the nigga took its glances off.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, of course, man, like we can't. You know,
- 49:12Speaker 2: I think I think of that, I think of Mike,
- 49:14Speaker 2: and I think of I think of Prince, you know
- 49:17Speaker 2: what I mean, Like when we talk about the greatest,
- 49:21Speaker 2: you know what I mean when I think about hip
- 49:25Speaker 2: hop though, Yeah, I would have to see who who's
- 49:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna be interested to see who does what next?
- 49:36Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's.
- 49:37Speaker 2: A it's a hard act to follow, Like, so I'd
- 49:42Speaker 2: be interested to see who who does what next? As
- 49:46Speaker 2: far as hip hop?
- 49:49Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 49:50Speaker 2: This bar is set pretty, but.
- 49:52Speaker 1: It's like it's it's set high. But it's like.
- 49:57Speaker 2: With this is like Kendrick's thing, like this is what
- 50:00Speaker 2: he does. I wouldn't want somebody else to go up
- 50:03Speaker 2: there and try to do the same thing. Like they
- 50:05Speaker 2: need to be unique and do what they do right,
- 50:09Speaker 2: you know. But again, like when it comes to the
- 50:13Speaker 2: performance your choreography, getting your bars off, because it definitely
- 50:19Speaker 2: was about hip hop for sure, Like that whole under
- 50:24Speaker 2: the lamp post thing that screamed hip hop to me,
- 50:29Speaker 2: Like what you said with all the brothers, you know
- 50:32Speaker 2: what I mean. We could use the ninjas, all the
- 50:34Speaker 2: ninjas of the background, like you know what I mean.
- 50:38Speaker 2: And you just under this lamp post post it up
- 50:42Speaker 2: with with with all the brothers in the background and
- 50:45Speaker 2: it's the Man of the Gold and Kendrick just kicking it.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Immediately was oh, no, that now that's some that I
- 50:54Speaker 2: know what that is. That's that's definitely some strictly hip hop.
- 50:57Speaker 2: That's hip hop, you know what I mean, Like, without
- 50:59Speaker 2: a doubt, that is what that is.
- 51:02Speaker 1: You know.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so yo, man, I would be interested to see where,
- 51:11Speaker 2: you know, where a hip hop artist takes it.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Next, Like what are they gonna do with it?
- 51:16Speaker 2: You know? Like but we only got like two now
- 51:22Speaker 2: right to kind of doctor dre and and and Kendrick,
- 51:27Speaker 2: Like do we put Nelly in that?
- 51:30Speaker 1: Like I nah, I don't know, Like wait, Nelly what
- 51:35Speaker 1: he showed up.
- 51:36Speaker 2: And Nelly performed at the super Bowl. It wasn't his no, yeah,
- 51:44Speaker 2: back back back in the.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Day, you know what I mean. But Queen, she was
- 51:49Speaker 1: the first queen t Yeah, as far as someone represents
- 51:54Speaker 1: hip hop, she didn't uh, she didn't perform it, you
- 51:58Speaker 1: know by herself. I forget who she was with it,
- 52:00Speaker 1: but she was like the first, I guess hip hop
- 52:03Speaker 1: artist to come out on the Super Bowl stage. I
- 52:06Speaker 1: don't know if this was like nineties or early two
- 52:08Speaker 1: thousands something.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Like that, but.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I think you're right because I think the Doctor Dre
- 52:15Speaker 1: Joint was the first time. I think the set was dope.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Like the way they set up the whole show. You know,
- 52:23Speaker 1: you got Anderson Park on the drums, you gotta scene
- 52:25Speaker 1: for Eminem, you gotta seen for Kendrick, got seen for
- 52:28Speaker 1: fifty and Snoop and you had and it all seemed
- 52:32Speaker 1: like it fit them, you know what I'm saying. And
- 52:36Speaker 1: then he again like, well what Kendrick's doing again? For me,
- 52:40Speaker 1: it felt like I was watching a video, you know
- 52:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying, And I thought that was dope because
- 52:45Speaker 1: it's one thing to watch a performance of a show
- 52:48Speaker 1: and this camera cuts of a person just walking back
- 52:51Speaker 1: and forth on the show.
- 52:52Speaker 3: It's like, like you said, not street Lands.
- 52:56Speaker 1: It was that other thing that I'm pretty sure somebody
- 52:58Speaker 1: gonna solve that puzzle where I don't know what they
- 53:01Speaker 1: were in, Like, I don't know what the hell that was.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Oh that the Pikaboo the mirror.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Yeah years around. Yeah yeah, yeah, like it just felt
- 53:11Speaker 1: like they did an excellent job with the presentation of it.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Oh but again we're talking about rappers and hip hop,
- 53:22Speaker 1: and that makes sense.
- 53:23Speaker 3: You know, I do agree with ad.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Expensive the next performance probably will not be hip hop.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Yeah I agree. Yeah, they ain't. Yeah, they ain't going
- 53:33Speaker 2: you ninjas, ain't getting it, ain't ain't ain't doing.
- 53:36Speaker 1: All of that, like from down.
- 53:42Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like, yeah, cause I even
- 53:45Speaker 2: even in the beginning, I noticed they gave a little
- 53:49Speaker 2: something what is it, lady gay guy, like she got
- 53:54Speaker 2: her performance on in in the beginning, like in the
- 53:56Speaker 2: pre kickoff thing, you know, And I'm like, okay, so
- 54:01Speaker 2: they still you know, lady got god still got other
- 54:04Speaker 2: thing off. Yeah. I agree, though the next performance wouldn't
- 54:09Speaker 2: be hip hop. I don't. I don't know who it
- 54:12Speaker 2: would be. You know, it would be interesting interesting, Yeah,
- 54:19Speaker 2: but you know it'll probably be more apple pie. We're
- 54:22Speaker 2: gonna really get American next.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Time, you know what I mean.
- 54:28Speaker 2: This was American, but this was black American.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Like you ninjas.
- 54:33Speaker 2: We got ninjas onund the light post. It's a ninja
- 54:35Speaker 2: on the light post.
- 54:39Speaker 1: And look that's what I was saying earlier, some people,
- 54:44Speaker 1: you know, because I think somebody in chack said some
- 54:48Speaker 1: people didn't like the show. Of course, some people don't
- 54:51Speaker 1: like the show every year, you know what I'm saying.
- 54:54Speaker 1: But what I think is going to happen, he said,
- 55:00Speaker 1: Taylor Swift, the tailor Swift through the Super Bowl.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Be's going if not?
- 55:04Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, it was. She already locked in first of
- 55:11Speaker 1: all birds. You know what I'm saying, All that second
- 55:15Speaker 1: shot to the skybox, that skybox, so we win it.
- 55:18Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. Put it on the sisters
- 55:21Speaker 3: in the in the nosebleed. That's what we're doing.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Uhr. But now I think.
- 55:28Speaker 3: I don't know, man, I I kind of feel like.
- 55:33Speaker 1: This is a this is a dope time for hip
- 55:35Speaker 1: hop obviously with the battle and I think during the
- 55:41Speaker 1: Grammys or.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Not, I think.
- 55:44Speaker 1: I tweeted now I know why j Cole got the
- 55:48Speaker 1: fuck up bot it mm hmmm, because I don't think
- 55:52Speaker 1: it was oh he's scared or now he put out
- 55:57Speaker 1: a week you know, dish towards Kendrick. Now he won't
- 56:00Speaker 1: take it back. I think we said it before when
- 56:03Speaker 1: we covered it. Somebody went to him, and said we're
- 56:06Speaker 1: about to walk this nigga for a whole three sixty
- 56:09Speaker 1: five as.
- 56:11Speaker 4: They That's why he was like, yo, yo, they're about
- 56:18Speaker 4: to be shooting, shorty. Just go ahead in the house
- 56:21Speaker 4: right there, about to be shooting.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Now, man like really azy and belly like about blow,
- 56:31Speaker 1: not even warning of us, just like I'm leaving about
- 56:36Speaker 1: to blow, which is which is great, man. I guess
- 56:45Speaker 1: to wrap it up in a lot of ways, like
- 56:51Speaker 1: I looked at this and I said this on my podcast.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I looked at this whole battle and just how it
- 57:00Speaker 1: played out right, not just not like us, which is
- 57:03Speaker 1: like a box and it's catchy and stuff like that.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Because the real nailing the coffin was meet the Grants,
- 57:11Speaker 1: Let's not be mistaken. Not like us was the celebration.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Grants was the actual murder, you know, twenty minutes later.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Let's not for me that twenty minutes later, it was
- 57:27Speaker 1: like what can't you dropped again? So I kind of
- 57:32Speaker 1: looked at it, like, yo, I think people are paying
- 57:38Speaker 1: attention to lyrics again and having a tolerance that's much
- 57:44Speaker 1: higher now because I've seen people who like Drake who
- 57:49Speaker 1: can't really listen to him do some of those same
- 57:51Speaker 1: things anymore, because let's not be mistaken, there's a lot
- 57:56Speaker 1: of Drake fans who didn't like for all the Dogs
- 57:58Speaker 1: in real time, you know what I'm saying. They You know,
- 58:01Speaker 1: they may say something differently now, but I remember people
- 58:04Speaker 1: like shitting on that album that fans and younger than me.
- 58:09Speaker 1: But it kind of feels like, not that everybody's going
- 58:13Speaker 1: to go listen to rock Marcie and Conway the Machine
- 58:16Speaker 1: and stuff like that, but they feel more like lyrics
- 58:21Speaker 1: matter now because with this battle and shout out to
- 58:26Speaker 1: the content creators, if you didn't understand anything that was happening,
- 58:31Speaker 1: there was always somebody, including us, to break down what
- 58:35Speaker 1: was happening. So it kind of built the appetite and
- 58:38Speaker 1: people who may just have been cool with the jingles
- 58:41Speaker 1: and the two steps. Do you feel like hip hop
- 58:46Speaker 1: is about to turn a corner back to maybe not
- 58:51Speaker 1: the extreme technical lyricism, but just in a situation where
- 58:57Speaker 1: being dope on the mic as far as lyrically matters.
- 59:03Speaker 2: I hope, so, I hope. So I have to be
- 59:09Speaker 2: completely honest with you, man, I don't know, I don't know.
- 59:14Speaker 2: I hope so though I hope that it continues to matter.
- 59:20Speaker 2: And you know, the youth, you know, think that that's
- 59:28Speaker 2: a part of a part of hip hop or a
- 59:32Speaker 2: part of what makes it dope. Again, like I'm not
- 59:37Speaker 2: expecting you know, every new artist or whatever the perform
- 59:46Speaker 2: like Kendrick or have all these layers and I'm not
- 59:50Speaker 2: expecting all of that, you know, But like you said,
- 59:53Speaker 2: at least you know you're putting your your your rhymes
- 59:58Speaker 2: and what you're saying, you're putting it together and in
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: a way where at least sounds like you thought about
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: what you were saying before you said it, you know
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 1:00:10Speaker 9: Like, even if you're doing the whole you know, I write,
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: I record a little bit, stop think about it and
- 1:00:19Speaker 9: then you know that approach to you know, wrapping where
- 1:00:23Speaker 9: they don't write nothing down.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: You know, anybody think they jay z oh, I'm gonna
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: just do the stop record thing. Like even if you're
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: doing that, but at least you know, like you're putting
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: it together or you're crafting it together in a way
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: that's you know, it makes sense. You're not just saying
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: a bunch of nothing. And yeah, like I would hope
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: the youth would want to hold that as important you know,
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: like I don't mind the youth, you know, even having
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: a place for Oh well, that's like the silly stuff.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: But nah, this this the real Like even if they
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: did it that way, like I would be cool, you
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: know what I mean. But for a while I was
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: just thinking, like, yo, it's about to be over ole here,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: like yo, that don't care about none of that, like
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: you know what I mean. It's just it's just it
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: turned into it for a while, just the way that
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: you say, like you know what I mean, Like what
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: when you when you really start to think about what
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: they what the what the MC is saying or what
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: the rapper is saying, they not you know, saying too
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: much or you know what I mean, they not you know,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: they're not telling stories and things like that.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: You know, maybe they are.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: But they're just not telling stories that I can relate to.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Maybe the youth could relate to it. But you know,
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: lyrics matter, man, they matter, and I would hope that
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: the youth keep it that way. Now, everybody ain't got
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: to be super dupo lyrical and talk about self righteous stuff.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: I'm not saying that, but yo, come on, let's at
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: least put words together in ways that are you know,
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: meaningful at least even if it's cold, even if it's
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: slang like you know what I mean, but put it
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: together in a meaningful way.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: S P says the ability to change everyone's mood and
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: display several styles of artist street throughout the beef what's
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: important for hip hop. I agree, man, because it was
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: one of the reasons why I remember, like when j
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Cole apologized and I tweeted, we want Aubrey anyway, right,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: because I'm a boxing fan. Styles make fights. I want
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the true matchup. I want the subliminal gods to step
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: outside and start talking to each other. That's where I
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: come from again, like the analogy we gave earlier about
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: you know, being in.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: The group and somebody point right at your head like
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: who is he?
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Like what are you going to do? That's what we
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: used to you either, like get that finger off your head,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: let him know I'm not the one when victim. That's it.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: And I felt like in hip hop, like like Kendrick
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: said at his Grammy acceptance speech, you know it's a sport.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: You know it's competitive, and he liked, well he said
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: this in an interview also, well, this is why he
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: said it. In the interview with Ebro and uh, what's
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: to day? I keep forgetting her name. Yeah yeah, there
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: used to be the Joe Budden joint on Complex.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Yeah mob, I got her name right.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: But you know he was saying, like, yo, he feels
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: like of what he's doing. This is still hip hop.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Still watch battle rap. It's still about about gritting your
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: teeth and caring about being the best and shout out
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: to kill. I said that on his podcast be Out
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Soon about you know, people wanting to be the best
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: at back in the days as opposed to wanting to
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: have a hit record and make money. And I think
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: this battle to box point has made it so you
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: have to think about your lyrics. You can't just you
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: can't just put him out and be lazy. You have
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: to put some kind of thought behind him. Sean says,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: for a lyrical rapper, Kendrick did amazing. We never expected
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: a lyricist to perform in the super Bowl. This is true.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: That's the beauty of it, right, Like somebody like Kendrick
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: is able to be quote unquote pop or crows without
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: really uh you know, giving up his integrity as an artist.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: He doesn't have to worry about Oh, well, they may
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: not like that.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: You may not like this.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Maybe I shouldn't talk about that. Let me make this
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: more catchy. He's making things catchy and poppy and you
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: could sing to him and dance to him. But then
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: there's a deeper meaning and there's lyrics stuff like that.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Sp also said it's necessary to change, but never lose
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: the soul of the culture. Lyrics matter. Yeah, is just yeah,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: it's kind of what we expect. I think in general.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Our final thoughts for me obviously the Eagles one smoking
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: on that Chiefs pack, on that black and white pack,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: on that your wife is a Trump supporter, Pa, niggas out.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: I ain't just lose.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: We duffed y'all out? Okay, all right, let me call
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: him back. Uh. But I think overall, the performance, the
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: you know, the little East eggs that you know, somebody
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: gonna find something that we haven't seen. I enjoyed it.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Usually with the Super Bowl, you know, it depends on
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: who's performing and whether I enjoyed. I'm a big sports head,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: so I'm usually like, get back to the game, mm hmm.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: But I was into it, man. Any final thoughts.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Hey man, you know I thought it was again great,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: great for hip hop, for sure. I'm definitely interested in
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: what would be next. But it's like you know, the
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: brother was saying, and that we gotta we gotta wait,
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: it's going it's probably gonna be some time before we
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: get you know, some more hip hop in the super Bowl.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: But you know, I'm you know, interested in seeing what
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: would be next, you know, from another from another artist,
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: you know what I mean. As far as Kendrick again, yeah,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: let's see there's a if there's a deluxe you know
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: what I mean, maybe it might be that, you know
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: what I mean. I do want the song like the
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: one that I would like the real song of that,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: like what he opened up with, Like I would like
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: to have that song. So maybe that might get released
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: or maybe, like you said, that's on the deluxe version
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: of gn X.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: We'll see then we'll see you leave y'all with a
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: couple of images from the show, which.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: Is pretty dope overall.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I just like like the performers, especially these brothers here,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: like the way they moved down the steps and Unison
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: is the way they was moving, you know, Wade Hendrick
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: kind of flowed through the whole set. You know what
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I'm saying where it just seemed like it was a
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: well produced program, which is important, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: because that can really turn things off again. Samuel Jackson,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: he really did it. He did his thing. Serena Williams
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: popped up, no smiles whatsoever, just walking on your smoking back.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Obviously this scene Hendrick smiling looking dead in the campra like, say, Drake,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I hear you like I'm young, which is crazy. At
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: the super Bowl said his name and all of that.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: And then obviously for those of you who like Hendrick
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: may have won the battle, but Drake have won the war.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Here you go his little black instrum. I don't know
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: what kind of winning you used to Yeah, I go
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: to the church and hip hop like came whooping your ass.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Okay to me, it looked like came on that tape
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: man like yeah right, put your hand up, ye, lock
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: them block the shots. Uh like to thank everybody for
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: tuning into this, you know what I'm saying. Sorry, we
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: had to keep pushing him back. What do you want?
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: I mean he was saying, I wanted to I wanted
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: to see like that pot at zero because you can't
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: play around with the chief shout out to Chiefs, the
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Chiefs fans.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Yeah, man, very dope.
