Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar fans, welcome and to Duval, daily presented by jing Jack.com and fueled by brass tax coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's Tuesday, October 13th, I'm your host Jordan Deluggo and we have someone fortunate news from Ian Rappaport, Jeremy Fowler.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison, his knee that he injured against the Eagles in that 1917 thrilling victory by your Jaguars in London, it will require Arthur Scopic Surgery.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: What that means is he will be out for some period of time here at the very least.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: He will be out in the surgery is not going to take place until the Jaguar's return home from London, which will be next week following the Jaguar's second London game, home game.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: against the Houston Texans on Sunday, 9.30 a.m. Eastern time.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: So he's going to have orthoscopic knee surgery and depending on what surgeons find, Harrison could be out three to five weeks, or the remainder of the regular season.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that is tough.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Back to back years now, where Jaguar is starting left tackle goes down with a knee injury.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, last year,
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: Which was huge.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if Colvin Laneon was able to play in that game, the Jaguars very well might have won the game, walk a little, did not play very well.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: And now you have Anton Harrison going down, could be three to five weeks, could be the remainder of the season.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's rough, man.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: And for Anton, that's where I think you want to start here, because, you know, this is a person an individual who's dealing with a difficult time,
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: It just sucks because he has made so much progress under this regime.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: When they got here, Liam Cohen and company got here to Jacksonville last year, last off season, they publicly and privately challenged Janton Harrison to be a more consistent professional and to bring it every single day, and that if he could do that, he could become a really good player in this league, and Anton Harrison was on his way to being that.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: And you see dominant performances by Anton Harris and at times.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that just really stinks.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: And you had to know, for Anton, hopefully everything goes well.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: And he's able to get back as soon as he can, all that stuff, and able to return to form.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully, you know, stay as positive.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: And keeps at it.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, prayers up for ants on, that's a horrible deal.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, and just not knowing here, right?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, could be three to five weeks, could be the rest of the season.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you might not see ants on Harrison until 2027.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: You might see him in December.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: We just don't know.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, that's tough way to kind of look at it right now, but that's the fact of the matter.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: You do have plans in place for this type of stuff.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's why Walker Little's still here.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's why Walker Little's still in Jacksonville.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: When you are a team that is competing, that believes they can win a title, that's why you keep a left tackle around who's a former starter who's getting paid like a mid tier starter to be your backup, to be your swing guy.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what Walker Little is here.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Unless the Jack Wars trade for a tackle, which seems...
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you trade for a tackle when you're paying coal van land and when you have ants on hairs and up for a contract extension.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, really, he could be extended now, but you haven't till...
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be under contract through what?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is...
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is third or fourth year, goodness gracious.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: This is fourth year, and he's a former first-round pick, yeah.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: So he's under contract through 2027 with the 50-or-option.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: So you can have him locked up through 2027 from a contract standpoint.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: But like, from a roster building standpoint, how do you trade for a tackle in this situation?
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you do.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now, maybe you try to add more depth.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: If he goes to IR, which seems like he probably will, maybe you try to add more depth.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: And try to make sure that if you have another injury, you're good to go.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you can have potentially Patrick McCary coming back.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: You have Daniel Fawlailey.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: waiting in the wings as well, you've got why at my loom.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: And Jonah Monheim, you do have some decent depth on the offensive line.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that's exactly why Walker Little is in Jacksonville, like I mentioned.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, can Walker Little step in and be a better player than he was when he was on the field last year at Left Tackle.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like Walker Little at guard last year did some good things.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: He was one of the Jaguars better guards when he was out there last year, having to fill in in different injury situations.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Can he protect Trevor Lawrence?
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: Can Walker little step in and protect Trevor Lawrence?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's played a lot of football in his career.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's played a lot of left tackle in his career.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Over 2,400 snaps at left tackle in the regular season for the Jaguars.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: He had a lot of penalties last year, he had a penalty last week, overall, he did play well last week and in week one, I mean, he has played at right tackle in week one, he played 21 snaps, because Jaguar is like Colman Lane and rest after the half, and then this past week, he had to play 31 snaps against Philly.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: You did have the one penalty, but I mean, he's played over 50 snaps this year and has not given up a pressure.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you're Liam Cohen, you obviously think about how you can help walk her little and kind of ease his job a little bit, make it not so much pressure on the one individual, but I also think he's going up against his worst nightmare.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is a nightmare scenario for walk her little.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: going up against the Houston Texans this week.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: This is a defensive front that dominated him in the second half last year, and again more the Jaguar is completely fellow part.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Due to many different things, but one of them, one of the reasons you can absolutely say was Walker little just literally not being able to touch the Neil Hunter.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jaguars have to have a better protection plan.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: They have to be able to help walk or little walk or little has to be able to do a better job.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: Not having ants on Harrison against the Houston Texans is a nightmare scenario.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's horrible.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: And the Texans, they just build up a little bit of confidence.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: They've been playing better football than their record suggests.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's a tough game.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it was gonna be a tough game with Anton Harrison out there.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Daniel Hunter, Willie Anderson, the rest of that Texan's defensive front, and now you drop Anton Harrison out, but Walker little in, that's a tough deal.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguar is going to have to be able to overcome it.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: If they want to bury the Texans at 104 and get to 4 and 1, or excuse me, 5 and 1, bury the Texans at 105, and just take a super-commanding lead in the division, and to keep pace in the AFC playoff race.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously they're in first place in their division, so they've got a playoff spot right now.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: But you want that one seed, right?
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: You absolutely want that one seed.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be really, just huge news when we find out what the timeline is for Anton Harrison, and you hope for the best, you hope for the three to five weeks, you hope he's back later in the season.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: But at this point, we just don't know.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
