- 0:15Speaker 3: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 0:20Speaker 4: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All Right, welcome
- 0:26Speaker 4: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday, but more importantly, it
- 0:31Speaker 4: is Draft week. We are two days so that's why
- 0:35Speaker 4: it's called it Tuesday, two days away from the draft.
- 0:40Speaker 4: You like that. Yeah, yeah, so it's Tamara, it's Alex.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Welcome Alex. We ain't get you in a while.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It's a minute.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Yeah, it's Evan, it's Paul is Uh. I don't I
- 0:52Speaker 4: guess he's still on the West coast.
- 0:53Speaker 5: I don't know where he is Cali, dreaming, but.
- 0:56Speaker 4: You gotta ask guys. Matt's back, he's in the booth.
- 1:00Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:00Speaker 4: So we're excited. Obviously, everybody knows what week it is.
- 1:04Speaker 4: It's Draft week. And uh, I mean if you're not
- 1:07Speaker 4: if you're a Patriots fan and you're not excited, then
- 1:10Speaker 4: you're not a Patriots fan. You are a fraud.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Not excited, you're a fraud.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Evan, Well, you're not a Patriots fan.
- 1:19Speaker 3: It's it's so nice to hear you do that to
- 1:21Speaker 3: somebody else.
- 1:22Speaker 4: How are you not excited?
- 1:23Speaker 5: I know we've talked about this all year at nauseum,
- 1:27Speaker 5: since like the middle of last season, and it's finally
- 1:29Speaker 5: here and.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Evan's woman in the back.
- 1:33Speaker 7: Just talk. You don't have to raise your hand. It's okay.
- 1:35Speaker 6: We're on video. I can raise my hand. People can
- 1:37Speaker 6: see me. I feel like Evan's not not excited because
- 1:41Speaker 6: of the news that came out about the Patriots potentially
- 1:46Speaker 6: taking calls and could be trading back.
- 1:49Speaker 7: That's that may be part of it. I'm not anti
- 1:53Speaker 7: trade back. You know, if they do it correctly and
- 1:56Speaker 7: they truly get the bag, then I can justify a
- 1:59Speaker 7: trade back. I think the reason why I'm I'm not
- 2:02Speaker 7: excited is that professionally, this is the part of the
- 2:06Speaker 7: draft where we just get thrown curve balls left and
- 2:09Speaker 7: right and we have to just react to them. So
- 2:10Speaker 7: that's that's, you know, tough. And also I'm afraid they're gonna.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Screw it up.
- 2:14Speaker 7: I'm just gonna be honest, I'm afraid they're gonna screwed up.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Nervous According to you, you're not excited because you think
- 2:19Speaker 3: they're gonna screw it up.
- 2:20Speaker 7: Correct?
- 2:21Speaker 6: Also, can we talk about what we each define as
- 2:24Speaker 6: the bag, Like what do you define as that?
- 2:27Speaker 7: And for the record, I don't necessarily think they're gonna
- 2:29Speaker 7: screw it up. I'm nervous that they will screw it up.
- 2:31Speaker 4: There's a difference to me the bag. To me, the
- 2:33Speaker 4: bag is if you could come away out of the
- 2:37Speaker 4: first three rounds with a quarterback, a wide receiver, and
- 2:41Speaker 4: a tackle. Right, that's the bag, isn't it.
- 2:43Speaker 8: No?
- 2:43Speaker 7: No, no, I think we're talking about the trade down
- 2:45Speaker 7: bag is what I think.
- 2:46Speaker 3: She's okay, yeah, okay, Plus if you come down with
- 2:49Speaker 3: hits on those three I would say that's a great draft.
- 2:52Speaker 3: But I mean, but we're talking about trade proposal.
- 2:54Speaker 6: Yes, So, like, what is a bag that you would
- 2:57Speaker 6: take to trade down?
- 2:58Speaker 7: I would say three first round picks and then probably
- 3:04Speaker 7: an additional Day two pick next year. I think is
- 3:08Speaker 7: real more realistic than this year. And if they don't
- 3:11Speaker 7: want to include four picks, then give us a player, well,
- 3:15Speaker 7: give us a starting caliber player.
- 3:17Speaker 4: So we lose our first you get you end up
- 3:21Speaker 4: with three first round picks.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Yep, Well, you don't necessarily lose the first, right, I.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Just want that clarification the three swap. Yes, So like
- 3:32Speaker 3: with Minnesota, is it just so eleven twenty three and
- 3:35Speaker 3: a twenty.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Five first in Christian Darrisol.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Okay, so that's two first round picks, like to you
- 3:40Speaker 3: a point? Yeah, Fred plus Christian Darasol. Yeah, that would
- 3:43Speaker 3: be the bag.
- 3:44Speaker 7: I think that's the starting point.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I think. But either way, I think that would
- 3:50Speaker 3: be far and away the best you could hope for.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I agree with Evan, I think that would represent the bag.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you end up with.
- 3:58Speaker 7: Who are you picking?
- 3:59Speaker 4: Yeah, not preeople, just positions, you know.
- 4:02Speaker 7: Like I still think that they're picking a quarterback with
- 4:05Speaker 7: their first pick in this draft.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Whether they pick it at three or they pick it
- 4:08Speaker 7: at eleven, I don't know. But I still think it's
- 4:11Speaker 7: going to be a quarterback. And I wrote about it
- 4:13Speaker 7: today in the mail bag that there's a chance that
- 4:16Speaker 7: they look at the quarterbacks a little bit different than
- 4:19Speaker 7: everybody else. And I made the comparison to the Jason
- 4:22Speaker 7: Tatum trade in twenty seventeen with the Celtics. Everybody else
- 4:25Speaker 7: thought Markel Foltz was the best player in the draft,
- 4:28Speaker 7: so they traded down out of the first pick and
- 4:30Speaker 7: got Tatum two picks later. If the Patriots did something
- 4:33Speaker 7: similar with McCarthy or Pennix, I wouldn't be stunned if
- 4:37Speaker 7: they did that.
- 4:38Speaker 6: I agree with Evan. I think if they got offered
- 4:41Speaker 6: the bag, so two first round picks this year and
- 4:43Speaker 6: maybe a first or second next year, I would take
- 4:45Speaker 6: it because then you could walk away with the first
- 4:48Speaker 6: or second tackle and either like a top ten wide
- 4:51Speaker 6: receiver versus getting like the fifth best tackle or the
- 4:55Speaker 6: seventh best receiver. You're picking a lot higher up, hopefully
- 4:58Speaker 6: to be able to get three rate first round picks.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So you have two different views. He wants to take
- 5:03Speaker 3: the quarterback, You want to take a tackle.
- 5:06Speaker 6: Well, then you could get the quarterback a good tackle
- 5:08Speaker 6: and a good one receiver.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Well, you can't get a really good tackle if you
- 5:12Speaker 3: go later. You know, if you wait, well, no, they're
- 5:15Speaker 3: on in the first round.
- 5:16Speaker 7: You could get a pretty good tackle a twenty three yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Pretty good, tyler Son pretty good.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Other than that thirty four yeah, probably, And then you
- 5:26Speaker 6: wouldn't have to trade back.
- 5:27Speaker 3: You might have a guy or two available at twenty
- 5:29Speaker 3: three that wouldn't be available at thirty four, but you
- 5:31Speaker 3: also have so.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Who's the quarterback you end up with?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like it.
- 5:35Speaker 6: It depends because I feel like JJ could go five
- 5:38Speaker 6: and you could also go eleven.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Yeah. Well that's the thing. He's been up and down
- 5:43Speaker 4: in the conversations. He's been rising, but I don't know
- 5:45Speaker 4: if an.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Actual everybody thinks there's going to be trades. Yeah, and
- 5:49Speaker 3: that to me is where this is all about. This
- 5:51Speaker 3: is what my trepidation is a little different than Evans.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Evans just nervous that they're going to screw it up.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I'm fair. I don't know about all this trade stuff
- 6:01Speaker 3: because if you get past if you get past three
- 6:06Speaker 3: and there are no trades in the top ten, chances
- 6:09Speaker 3: are you're going to get to eleven and JJ McCarthy
- 6:11Speaker 3: is going to be available. Yeah, because I don't think Arizona,
- 6:16Speaker 3: the Chargers, the Giants, the Titans, the Falcons, who's nine bears,
- 6:23Speaker 3: Bears are going to take a quarterback.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Now.
- 6:26Speaker 3: The Jets could. I don't think they will, but they could.
- 6:30Speaker 4: They could, you know, because you think this is probably
- 6:32Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers last year coming off the right.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Yeah, right, Like at some point they're going to need
- 6:37Speaker 3: to do what everybody else is going to need to
- 6:38Speaker 3: do and find somebody for the future. I don't think
- 6:40Speaker 3: they will because I think they'll go all in on
- 6:43Speaker 3: the small, small window with Rogers.
- 6:45Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think Paul's onto something too, because I
- 6:48Speaker 6: think right before we went on air, there were tweets
- 6:50Speaker 6: reports saying that commanders are not interested in trading their
- 6:53Speaker 6: second pick. They're keeping it so right now, obviously the
- 6:56Speaker 6: Bears aren't trading their's commanders aren't trading. There's the Patriots
- 6:59Speaker 6: are the only person people right now saying that they're
- 7:01Speaker 6: open for business.
- 7:02Speaker 5: So and even then I saw a port I think
- 7:04Speaker 5: it was from Karen this morning in mass Live that
- 7:07Speaker 5: they've received calls, but they're all laughable, like.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Because it's not a valuable pick, like if you're going
- 7:14Speaker 3: to get the bag, it's going to be at two two,
- 7:18Speaker 3: because if.
- 7:18Speaker 2: You have your pick of because may or Daniel right, yeah, you.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Know, obviously they're not trading one. But I think it's
- 7:26Speaker 3: it's hard to imagine someone giving you whatever and I
- 7:30Speaker 3: want for that pick to get the third best quarterbacks hard.
- 7:35Speaker 5: It's hard to give up all that on a gamble.
- 7:37Speaker 5: It's such a gamble.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And I think that's why they've been so outspoken about
- 7:42Speaker 3: being open for business. They're trying to get somebody. And
- 7:46Speaker 3: my concern, again a little bit different than Evans, is
- 7:49Speaker 3: they don't like these guys and they're looking to trade or.
- 7:53Speaker 4: They're just being smart and just you know, being open
- 7:57Speaker 4: for business because you never know what might come your way.
- 8:00Speaker 3: But do you like the guy? Do you love the
- 8:03Speaker 3: option at three?
- 8:04Speaker 4: Maybe?
- 8:05Speaker 3: If I love the option at three, I don't really
- 8:07Speaker 3: care what anybody's offering me.
- 8:08Speaker 4: But you always just want to hear, you know, like I've.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Heard plenty to Alex's point, and I don't think they
- 8:14Speaker 3: like it. Yea.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Also do we really as you get closer, people start
- 8:17Speaker 4: to get a little bit more urgent, you know, no doubt.
- 8:20Speaker 2: There's a lot of poker faces around.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Here's my here's here's my latest final offer.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Russini's tweeting now about JJ McCarthy meeting with mister Kraft
- 8:29Speaker 5: and his comments on mister Kraft.
- 8:31Speaker 6: So it's like, also, do we really believe that Elliott
- 8:36Speaker 6: likes all six of them the same? That there really
- 8:38Speaker 6: isn't much of course drop off?
- 8:40Speaker 3: That's yeah, he did, that's what he did, but not
- 8:44Speaker 3: the same.
- 8:45Speaker 4: So I'm the same.
- 8:47Speaker 6: But he said he would be comfortable with any of them.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Would you be comfortable with any of them?
- 8:52Speaker 4: Not in the first round? No? No, you know yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 4: I think that's a lot of capital to give up
- 9:00Speaker 4: on somebody that I'm third round pick.
- 9:02Speaker 2: If it's not it's like dating. If it's not an F, yes,
- 9:04Speaker 2: it's n F.
- 9:05Speaker 9: No.
- 9:06Speaker 4: There you go, There you go. Quarterbacks are like dating.
- 9:11Speaker 10: I like it.
- 9:12Speaker 3: It is, you know's what we've lost. We've needed this
- 9:15Speaker 3: for a long time. We needed a female perspective.
- 9:18Speaker 4: There you go.
- 9:21Speaker 7: I have no notes.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I was going for a walk with my girlfriends yesterday
- 9:26Speaker 5: and I said that to one of my friends about
- 9:28Speaker 5: some dating advice.
- 9:29Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, I'm saving that. I'm going
- 9:32Speaker 2: to relate this on radio.
- 9:33Speaker 7: But the commander the perfect bachelor for quarterbacks at Top Golf,
- 9:38Speaker 7: So they they did approach it like dating. They put
- 9:40Speaker 7: them all together in one room, and who's going to
- 9:43Speaker 7: get the roads.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I didn't realize that. I'm sorry, I didn't realize. They
- 9:46Speaker 3: put everybody that they invited in the thirty business.
- 9:52Speaker 7: I like one Top Golf experience and I saw I
- 9:56Speaker 7: think it was Florio. Someone was just joking around about how, well,
- 10:00Speaker 7: if you're bad at golf, then you know, all of
- 10:02Speaker 7: a sudden, like what a horrible situation for you. He
- 10:04Speaker 7: was serious, and I was like, I don't think it's
- 10:07Speaker 7: that deep.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Were they having like longest drive competition?
- 10:09Speaker 3: I don't think it's that thing of a deal. But
- 10:11Speaker 3: I did think it was odd. Yeah.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Also, I just think that when you look at not
- 10:14Speaker 6: just what happened here with mac Jones, but in multiple
- 10:17Speaker 6: organizations this year, you've seen when it's not an FS
- 10:20Speaker 6: as Alex would say, all the way around, you end
- 10:23Speaker 6: up with some issues. So if the coach isn't FBS
- 10:26Speaker 6: and all the scouting staff FBSGM all that it ended
- 10:30Speaker 6: up being a disaster. I mean, it wasn't just here.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Don't discount that, especially this year because even though a
- 10:37Speaker 4: lot of the players are the same you know that
- 10:39Speaker 4: have been here other than Bill, the dynamic is probably different,
- 10:43Speaker 4: you know, and.
- 10:45Speaker 3: You know, what are the what are the odds that
- 10:49Speaker 3: what's the word of the off season in the Patriots
- 10:52Speaker 3: brain trust Collaver, right, what are the odds that you're
- 10:55Speaker 3: going to get all of those guys to be in
- 10:57Speaker 3: agreement with all these different options? Right? So, they're picking
- 11:06Speaker 3: at all my insecurities. It's the women's. It's their fault
- 11:10Speaker 3: because I was not like this at all until we
- 11:13Speaker 3: started this show. Yeah, now I have all these concerns.
- 11:17Speaker 6: So this is another women situation, But this is giving.
- 11:20Speaker 6: When a man asks a woman what do you want
- 11:22Speaker 6: for dinner tonight and she's like, I don't care and
- 11:24Speaker 6: then the man picked something and you're like, I don't
- 11:26Speaker 6: want that. That's what this is.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Reminded well, but you know, here's the thing, and like
- 11:33Speaker 4: we we kind of talked about it last week. I
- 11:35Speaker 4: think in terms of, like the projection of these quarterbacks,
- 11:40Speaker 4: is it all you know, based on what's available this year?
- 11:43Speaker 4: In other words, like is there someone in this draft
- 11:46Speaker 4: as good as you know, forget about Caleb Williams because
- 11:49Speaker 4: he's not available. Is there someone as good as Joe Burrow?
- 11:52Speaker 4: Is there someone as good as my Homes?
- 11:54Speaker 6: No?
- 11:54Speaker 4: You know, are any of these guys do we think
- 11:57Speaker 4: going had the possibility to be as good as any
- 12:00Speaker 4: of the other top quarterbacks that have been picked in
- 12:03Speaker 4: the last six seven years.
- 12:04Speaker 6: But I also think with asking that question, they didn't
- 12:07Speaker 6: come out looking like that though, like Mahomes didn't come
- 12:09Speaker 6: out looking what he does right now.
- 12:11Speaker 4: That took time, fair point, fair point.
- 12:13Speaker 6: And like we wouldn't have guessed that on his draft.
- 12:16Speaker 4: So I'm looking at not how they were perceived at
- 12:20Speaker 4: draft Day, but how they are now. Like do any
- 12:23Speaker 4: of these guys have the potential to be as good
- 12:25Speaker 4: as the top quarterbacks in the league?
- 12:27Speaker 3: Yes, I think all three of them.
- 12:29Speaker 7: Elaborate on that, I mean, I think Jayden Daniels and
- 12:33Speaker 7: Drake may both have elite quarterback, franchise quarterback, whatever type
- 12:38Speaker 7: of ceilings. Now Drake Mays is a little bit more
- 12:41Speaker 7: of a projection with his development. Younger player, has some
- 12:44Speaker 7: mechanical things that he's going to have to work through
- 12:47Speaker 7: and fix to get there. A lot like Josh Allen
- 12:50Speaker 7: coming in, you know, sporadic with his accuracy at times,
- 12:54Speaker 7: and I think with Jayden Daniels you have to ask
- 12:56Speaker 7: how much of it was Malik Neighbors and Brian Thomas
- 12:59Speaker 7: junior and really his most productive season by far was
- 13:04Speaker 7: at LSU last year. With all of those guys right
- 13:06Speaker 7: as a super as a super senior, you know, a
- 13:09Speaker 7: sixty year college player, So there are some of obviously
- 13:13Speaker 7: there's issues or you know, weaknesses that you could project
- 13:16Speaker 7: for both guys, but in terms of ceiling and potential
- 13:19Speaker 7: that they both have it very very high end potential.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Potential Like Caleb Williams is Mahomes, Jayden Daniels is Lamar
- 13:32Speaker 3: Jackson and the simplistic, the simplistic look at everybody that's like,
- 13:40Speaker 3: the ceiling gets hit. How many times do guys hit
- 13:43Speaker 3: the ceiling?
- 13:44Speaker 4: Rarely?
- 13:46Speaker 5: Max draft class and all those quarterbacks, it was the
- 13:48Speaker 5: deepest quarterback class.
- 13:49Speaker 7: I think this quarterback class is better than twenty one question.
- 13:54Speaker 7: I'm confidence saying that question for.
- 13:56Speaker 6: You, Evan, So I know you said that Jayden Daniels
- 13:58Speaker 6: he had a leap this year. Yeah, super senior year
- 14:01Speaker 6: at LSU with Malik Neighbors and Brian Thomas junior. Joe
- 14:05Speaker 6: Burrow also had a leap his last year at LSU
- 14:09Speaker 6: and then he went on to be who he is
- 14:11Speaker 6: right now in the NFL. Obviously hasn't won a Super Bowl,
- 14:13Speaker 6: but like, he's still one of the top quarterbacks in
- 14:15Speaker 6: the league. And I think Jaden Daniels could also be
- 14:17Speaker 6: that and.
- 14:18Speaker 7: Absolutely, but I don't think it's But who did the
- 14:20Speaker 7: Bengals get him to throw the ball to his college
- 14:24Speaker 7: teammate Jamar Chase, So if you build it around him,
- 14:27Speaker 7: I have no doubt that Jaden Daniels in both that's
- 14:30Speaker 7: true for any guy. You know, you're not going to
- 14:32Speaker 7: be able to just make any of these guys turn
- 14:34Speaker 7: water into why. None of them are going to be
- 14:36Speaker 7: able to do it on their own. But I think
- 14:38Speaker 7: the biggest thing about these three quarterbacks, I definitely think
- 14:42Speaker 7: all three of these guys are better than Zach Wilson
- 14:44Speaker 7: was coming out. I don't think that that's even close.
- 14:47Speaker 7: I mean, Justin Fields might have been in a similar
- 14:49Speaker 7: category to somebody like a Jayden Daniels as a passer,
- 14:53Speaker 7: certainly coming out of college. But Jayden Daniels is a
- 14:56Speaker 7: much better runner than Justin Fields, is much more dynamic
- 14:58Speaker 7: with his legs. So if I had to stack this
- 15:01Speaker 7: quarterback class up against the twenty one quarterback class, Caleb
- 15:05Speaker 7: and Trevor Lawrence will be close. I don't know, you
- 15:07Speaker 7: know which to you know which one I would go with?
- 15:09Speaker 7: Their different much much different.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Players, sure, but in terms of potential.
- 15:13Speaker 7: But in terms of potential, I'd say Caleb is probably
- 15:16Speaker 7: the better prospect In terms of Polish and Proretti and
- 15:19Speaker 7: all that kind of stuff, I think Trevor was a
- 15:22Speaker 7: little bit more well rounded at the time than Caleb,
- 15:26Speaker 7: But in terms of just pure talent and potential, I
- 15:29Speaker 7: would say that Caleb's better than him. And then you
- 15:31Speaker 7: know we're talking to Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones,
- 15:34Speaker 7: like all these guys are better than those guys justin fields.
- 15:37Speaker 7: I think would be probably in a similar category as
- 15:41Speaker 7: as Daniels.
- 15:41Speaker 4: How deep does it go after I think better than
- 15:45Speaker 4: those guys. Yeah, so maybe maybe four deep.
- 15:48Speaker 7: I would say it probably goes. I think it does
- 15:51Speaker 7: go six deep, but you have to know what you're.
- 15:54Speaker 4: As six deep worthy of a first round pick.
- 15:57Speaker 7: No, I don't. I don't think that, But but I
- 16:00Speaker 7: think that goes there's six legitimate starting caliber quarterbacks, like
- 16:04Speaker 7: guys that could be starters in the next level. But
- 16:07Speaker 7: I think you have to understand what you're signing up
- 16:09Speaker 7: for with Penix and Nicks. You know you're signing with
- 16:11Speaker 7: bo Nix. You are signing up for game manager. Like
- 16:14Speaker 7: he's that's what he is. He's not an aggressive downfield thrower.
- 16:17Speaker 7: He's not like losing with physical talent. He's been around
- 16:20Speaker 7: the block, He's been playing college football a ton. This
- 16:23Speaker 7: is his ceiling like he's this is as good as
- 16:25Speaker 7: he's probably gonna get. Michael Penix has the injuries that
- 16:28Speaker 7: you have to be willing to sign up for as
- 16:30Speaker 7: an organization, you're taking that risk. So would I use
- 16:33Speaker 7: a first round pick on Penis for I would have
- 16:35Speaker 7: to be totally sold by my doctors and my medical
- 16:38Speaker 7: staff that he's going to be fine. There's not going
- 16:40Speaker 7: to be any you know, reason to think of re
- 16:44Speaker 7: injury or anything like that.
- 16:45Speaker 4: He's been good with the last two seasons, right.
- 16:48Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah for the most part.
- 16:49Speaker 6: Do you think so? Is brock perty considered a game
- 16:52Speaker 6: manager to me?
- 16:54Speaker 4: I mean I say no, but you say yes, yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 7: Yeah, I think you know. I've compared JJ a lot
- 17:00Speaker 7: to brock Purty. I think where they how they win
- 17:04Speaker 7: is very similar. Middle of the field throws have some
- 17:07Speaker 7: of that ability to move around and get off your
- 17:09Speaker 7: spot and make throws off platform, but aren't dynamic like
- 17:13Speaker 7: mahomes level on that.
- 17:14Speaker 3: But when you watch.
- 17:15Speaker 7: Party play, he's on a statue and he can make
- 17:18Speaker 7: some plays on the run and things like that. I
- 17:20Speaker 7: think JJ McCarthy's is a very similar way. Both of
- 17:22Speaker 7: those guys win. You know, they both have that factor,
- 17:25Speaker 7: that winning intangible, So I look at them as pretty comparable.
- 17:29Speaker 7: I would say that JJ is maybe like a souped
- 17:31Speaker 7: up Brock Party, you know, a little bit more physically
- 17:34Speaker 7: talented coming out than pretty bigger certainly just in terms
- 17:37Speaker 7: of measurables. So there's some comparisons there though.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Yeah. Interesting.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I mean, I think Penix is going to be a
- 17:46Speaker 3: first rounder.
- 17:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I don't know about Nicks, but I think I think
- 17:51Speaker 3: you're gonna get five in the first round.
- 17:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I think Pennix will be a first rounder because
- 17:57Speaker 7: from everything that you've heard, he's been mostly clear by
- 18:00Speaker 7: teams medically.
- 18:01Speaker 3: He brought something on the player's Tribune yesterday too, sort
- 18:04Speaker 3: of I don't know how you guys felt about it.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I didn't read it. I just saw clips of it,
- 18:11Speaker 3: and I thought it was a little odd. But he's
- 18:13Speaker 3: telling you that he's ready to go. And what I
- 18:16Speaker 3: do really like about him is sort of the anti McCarthy.
- 18:20Speaker 3: McCarthy has had everything in place for him. Pennix had
- 18:23Speaker 3: nothing in place for him. He's had to overcome so much,
- 18:26Speaker 3: and I think there's something to be said of that
- 18:28Speaker 3: football adversity to experience it and be able to thrive,
- 18:33Speaker 3: you know, despite it. Yeah, and it's why I continue
- 18:38Speaker 3: to have this sort of semantic argument about McCarthy being
- 18:41Speaker 3: the safest guy. I think he's the least safe out
- 18:44Speaker 3: of all of them because he's the one that has
- 18:46Speaker 3: proven the least amount in college. He never had to
- 18:49Speaker 3: do any of the things that the other five did.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Does that make sense?
- 18:54Speaker 4: It does make sense. Yeah, he's his journey everything.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I mean, everybody, I'm on an island, but I'm completely
- 18:59Speaker 3: by my Everybody thinks that if you want the safe pick,
- 19:03Speaker 3: it's McCarthy.
- 19:04Speaker 7: I think with McCarthy, you just know mechanically, there's not
- 19:08Speaker 7: a lot of work to do there. He's got really
- 19:12Speaker 7: good for work in his drops, quick efficient release, you know,
- 19:15Speaker 7: he has those that down. You know, he's a natural thrower.
- 19:19Speaker 7: I think the biggest thing with him is that if
- 19:22Speaker 7: you build it around him like the forty nine ers
- 19:24Speaker 7: did with Purdy for example, like I think Minnesota and
- 19:27Speaker 7: JJ McCarthy are a matchmate in heaven. I think that's
- 19:30Speaker 7: a great pairing because he's not gonna have to make
- 19:33Speaker 7: all these ridiculous plays because he's gonna have those two
- 19:36Speaker 7: receivers to throw the ball to all the time.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And just to be clear, I am not down on
- 19:40Speaker 3: McCarthy as a player period, Like, I'm not telling you
- 19:44Speaker 3: I wouldn't take him. I like the other guys better
- 19:46Speaker 3: because I think there's more ceiling it. But I'm just
- 19:49Speaker 3: talking about specifically this label that you know what he is.
- 19:54Speaker 3: He threw the ball by far the least amount out
- 19:57Speaker 3: of the six quarterbacks. He's the biggest in my opinion
- 20:01Speaker 3: projection because he's never done it right now.
- 20:05Speaker 4: He could end up being the best of all of them.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Who knows, ye, I think physically, you know, and I
- 20:10Speaker 3: still see these things. You know, someone my mentions even
- 20:15Speaker 3: just today, you know Mac two point zero. There's nothing
- 20:18Speaker 3: similar about him and Mac Jones other than that they
- 20:20Speaker 3: were both national championship quarterbacks, quarterbacks on national championship winners.
- 20:26Speaker 3: That's the only similarity. McCarthy is so much more gifted
- 20:29Speaker 3: physically than Mac Jones. I don't even think it's worth comparing.
- 20:33Speaker 7: They're pretty much polar opposites. Like McCarthy's issues are accuracy
- 20:38Speaker 7: in processing, and those are max strainths coming out of college.
- 20:41Speaker 7: He just didn't have the arm talent and he didn't
- 20:43Speaker 7: have the mobility that McCarthy has so McCarthy for a
- 20:46Speaker 7: lot of people, it has a high ceiling because he's
- 20:50Speaker 7: younger and he has a lot of physical I do you.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Think there's a ceiling there? Yeah, absolutely, because we haven't
- 20:54Speaker 3: seen him like he could get He could be the
- 20:56Speaker 3: best of the bunch. We just never really saw it
- 20:58Speaker 3: in college. He could turn out to be the best easily.
- 21:01Speaker 3: That's why I'm I'm not necessarily down. I don't think
- 21:05Speaker 3: he will be either, but I'm not necessarily down on
- 21:08Speaker 3: him based on his skill set. I think he has
- 21:10Speaker 3: a good skill set. I just like the other guys better.
- 21:13Speaker 7: Yeah that's fair.
- 21:14Speaker 4: All right. So it's an exciting time tomorrow. I mean,
- 21:18Speaker 4: Thursday is going to be huge. But while I'm thinking
- 21:21Speaker 4: of it, I just do want to give people the
- 21:23Speaker 4: live show lineup between now and Saturday, or through Saturday tomorrow.
- 21:30Speaker 4: From twelve to one, we have the Patriots Draft Countdown
- 21:34Speaker 4: presented by bud Light. What is that?
- 21:38Speaker 8: We know?
- 21:38Speaker 3: That's our draft shows. Thanks for paying attention to the
- 21:41Speaker 3: content for it.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Oh so we've rebranded it. Okay, so that's twelfth February.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Who's on that?
- 21:48Speaker 3: I mean, you cast one thousands, but I am. I
- 21:51Speaker 3: could be iffy on that, but I'm doing my best. Tomorrow. Yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 3: I'll be here, but I might have to do something. Okay,
- 21:57Speaker 3: but Mike Evan, I think he's Cassidy. Chris, Yeah, Chris Cassidy. Okay,
- 22:03Speaker 3: it's the draft though.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Yeah. So that's twelve to one tomorrow live, then two
- 22:07Speaker 4: to four John Rook with the playbook on Thursday. Obviously
- 22:11Speaker 4: we've got the show. Uh here it says eight o'clock,
- 22:15Speaker 4: but we're going to start at uh seven thirty. Uh
- 22:18Speaker 4: so we'll be live from the draft party upstairs. Actually,
- 22:23Speaker 4: it's so big this year. It's in the Patriots gpahroom
- 22:28Speaker 4: and the club, but we're going to be in the
- 22:32Speaker 4: GPA troom.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Oh there's like spillover.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Yeah, there's spillover. The party is so big.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Surprise that we're not sios.
- 22:39Speaker 4: So we'll be a little bit a little bit different
- 22:41Speaker 4: than prior years. We're gonna start at seven thirty and
- 22:45Speaker 4: we will be live video the whole night on Patriots
- 22:49Speaker 4: dot com, in the app, on social media. Right now,
- 22:54Speaker 4: the plan is it'll be live video from eight thirty
- 22:58Speaker 4: to nine. But don't hold me on that. You know,
- 23:01Speaker 4: things are kind of fluid, but we can do thirty
- 23:03Speaker 4: minutes of live video on social media, so we think
- 23:06Speaker 4: eight thirty to nine is that sweet spot of when
- 23:09Speaker 4: the Patriots will be picking. So that's that'll be on
- 23:12Speaker 4: all the social media channels of the Patriots, but otherwise
- 23:15Speaker 4: on patriots dot com and the app. We will be
- 23:18Speaker 4: live from seven to thirty until the end of the
- 23:20Speaker 4: first round, so that'll be exciting. On Friday two to four,
- 23:26Speaker 4: there's a Catch twenty two show, right there is, yes,
- 23:29Speaker 4: and then from seven to ten we'll be doing a
- 23:32Speaker 4: live draft show again, but not from the draft party.
- 23:35Speaker 4: We'll be doing it from the studio. And then on Saturday,
- 23:38Speaker 4: from two to four we'll be doing another I know
- 23:42Speaker 4: he's got two to four. Where'd you get two to four?
- 23:44Speaker 4: Let's go back to one to three, ray fil Okay,
- 23:47Speaker 4: I think it's one to.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Three, two to four.
- 23:48Speaker 5: You run into a mess with all the REVS fans, right,
- 23:52Speaker 5: messy fans.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yeah, gotta go. Yeah, So I was looking at the
- 23:56Speaker 3: wrong schedule when I typed it out. Far one to
- 23:58Speaker 3: three on Saturday.
- 23:59Speaker 4: I believe it's Catch twenty two correct, two to four.
- 24:02Speaker 7: Yes, okay, Depending on when the first round pick gets here,
- 24:05Speaker 7: and all that.
- 24:06Speaker 4: But yes, and then you know, beyond that, on all
- 24:10Speaker 4: the Patriots content channels, I mean, there's going to be
- 24:12Speaker 4: a ton of content. You know, We've got a lot
- 24:16Speaker 4: of stuff coming live from Detroit, h all kinds of
- 24:20Speaker 4: content coming from there. We're going to have when players
- 24:23Speaker 4: come in, you know, press conferences with them here, We'll
- 24:27Speaker 4: have Gerrod, We'll have Elliott live when they come up,
- 24:32Speaker 4: you know, outside of the show. So, I mean, Patriots
- 24:36Speaker 4: dot Com is the place you want to be, uh,
- 24:38Speaker 4: In the Patriots social channels from Thursday on, It's it's
- 24:42Speaker 4: gonna be wild. Patriots All Access Live Wednesday.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Night seven, seven pm Eastern.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's it's gonna be cool. We haven't had
- 24:52Speaker 4: a pick. The highest pick we've had since uh Drew
- 24:56Speaker 4: bledsoe uh you know right.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Uh no, we've had you know, Willie McGinnis was four,
- 25:03Speaker 3: Bridget Seymour was six.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, that's true. But it's been a while since
- 25:08Speaker 4: we're in the top ten. It's been a minute, Yeah,
- 25:10Speaker 4: a minute, so you know, a couple. Yeah, right now
- 25:13Speaker 4: we're sitting at every That could change, obviously, but it's
- 25:17Speaker 4: going to be a while.
- 25:18Speaker 6: Now, get the bag.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Unless we get the bag. Yeah, so very excited.
- 25:24Speaker 3: We don't say effort.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, what else any other news going on?
- 25:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Mitchell will end?
- 25:34Speaker 4: What do we think of Mitchell will call?
- 25:36Speaker 3: I you know what I immediately thought of last week
- 25:39Speaker 3: when we were talking about, oh, there's some good you know,
- 25:42Speaker 3: day three tight ends we could block, and I go, yeah, yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 3: I don't need to draft that. I can just sign one.
- 25:47Speaker 3: And then we did, well, let's let's background in him.
- 25:51Speaker 4: What do we think from the if he was being
- 25:53Speaker 4: drafted today, what round would he be drafted in?
- 25:55Speaker 7: Seventh?
- 25:56Speaker 4: Really? Okay, so don't don't get that excited.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Tight ends.
- 26:02Speaker 7: I don't know, camp body, I think, yeah, camp body, Yeah, okay,
- 26:07Speaker 7: I'm gonna So the OTA program yesterday was the first
- 26:11Speaker 7: day of Phase two, So now coaches can be on
- 26:14Speaker 7: the field with the players and they can start doing
- 26:16Speaker 7: like walk through type stuff and uh what they call
- 26:19Speaker 7: perfect plays, which is just you know, walking through the
- 26:22Speaker 7: routes and things like that against air. So they were
- 26:26Speaker 7: starting to ramp up the spring program a little bit.
- 26:29Speaker 7: You're gonna have actual OTA's coming up, mini camp things
- 26:32Speaker 7: like that. They only had three tight ends on the
- 26:34Speaker 7: on the entire ninety man roster with Henry Hooper peedaway.
- 26:40Speaker 7: I think they just wanted.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Some depth there, so camp body, Yes, I.
- 26:44Speaker 7: Would not say that this rules out. Sorry, Paul, your
- 26:47Speaker 7: your Day three tight end flyer.
- 26:50Speaker 4: No, I have not ruled it out. Okay. Well, I
- 26:53Speaker 4: made a back of the envelope list of players, and
- 26:56Speaker 4: I noticed that I don't even have a tight end
- 26:58Speaker 4: on here.
- 26:59Speaker 7: So, yeah, you know who I think you would like?
- 27:02Speaker 7: Tip Raymond from Illinois.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Why would I like him?
- 27:06Speaker 7: I just you like Johnny Wilson.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Who's well, but he was like six ' nine, right.
- 27:10Speaker 7: Yeah, Tip, Tip Raymond. Tip Raymond sixty six and seventy pounds,
- 27:15Speaker 7: but he ran like a four to six in the
- 27:18Speaker 7: forty yard dash. Really athletic tight end, but more of
- 27:22Speaker 7: a blocker in line blocker. Okay, I don't know he's
- 27:25Speaker 7: up your alley. Okay, you like the you like the
- 27:28Speaker 7: big athletes.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Pall drink water?
- 27:31Speaker 7: Yeah, tall, drink of water exactly.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Is anyone interested in my back of the envelope living
- 27:35Speaker 4: Yeah very much so. Okay, So running back, I got
- 27:40Speaker 4: Trey Benson Benson from FSU and Isaac Garando Louisville. Yeah,
- 27:46Speaker 4: are we familiar with those guys.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I am Trey Benson.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yeah, so I like I like Trey because he had
- 27:54Speaker 4: no fumbles in his college career, not because all security of.
- 27:58Speaker 7: The explosive plays.
- 27:59Speaker 4: But but you know four to three nine, he's a
- 28:02Speaker 4: fast guy, six sixteen, some good size. And then the
- 28:06Speaker 4: other guy from Louisville, I have fights through contact.
- 28:11Speaker 7: That's true, Paul, what's here, Trey Benson?
- 28:13Speaker 8: Take?
- 28:14Speaker 3: I like Trey Benson. I don't love him, but uh,
- 28:18Speaker 3: I mean, I'm actually coming to the conclusion this is
- 28:20Speaker 3: going to be the first time in my twenty plus
- 28:23Speaker 3: years of doing the draft shows that Fred's gonna come
- 28:25Speaker 3: to the table with more information than me.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Oh god, why is that?
- 28:28Speaker 3: Because you've obviously done more research than me.
- 28:31Speaker 7: Trey Benson, you got two days. I like explosive back,
- 28:36Speaker 7: big play back, you know four three nine and the
- 28:37Speaker 7: forty yard dash, really good top end speed, long speed, hit,
- 28:41Speaker 7: big plays, runs angry like you can just tell that
- 28:45Speaker 7: that's a guy that's explosive, really fast to the flat.
- 28:48Speaker 7: Also in the passing game, went foot races outside. Uh,
- 28:52Speaker 7: He's he's an interesting player. I think I have him
- 28:54Speaker 7: as RB three. I want to say, uh. And then
- 28:58Speaker 7: Grendo was the best tester of the group.
- 29:02Speaker 3: At the combine.
- 29:03Speaker 7: Really really athletic player. Doesn't always play to that speed.
- 29:06Speaker 7: I wouldn't say on tape, but your assessment of contact
- 29:10Speaker 7: balance and ability to run through tackles and things like
- 29:13Speaker 7: that's accurate. And he doesn't have He's a one speed runner.
- 29:16Speaker 3: You know.
- 29:16Speaker 7: He doesn't like change up the speeds a lot, but
- 29:19Speaker 7: he can kind of glide and you know, weave in
- 29:22Speaker 7: and out of traffic and things like that. Nice day
- 29:24Speaker 7: three guy. I think Benson's going to be one of
- 29:26Speaker 7: the first running backs taken.
- 29:28Speaker 4: So then for wide receiver, I have four guys that
- 29:30Speaker 4: I kind of know. Again, he's a back of the.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Envelopeconky okay, I should know these guys.
- 29:35Speaker 7: I love that segment.
- 29:36Speaker 4: The first guy, Xavier Leget Okay, so yeah, you know
- 29:43Speaker 4: people like him playoff South Carolina if you believe what
- 29:46Speaker 4: he says, he's not making it past Carolina at thirty three.
- 29:49Speaker 6: So also his accent. Have we listened to it? No?
- 29:53Speaker 3: I have not.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it's really really.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Another guy I have from Alabama now, Jermaine Burton. Yeah,
- 30:02Speaker 4: you can cross that one on. You don't like him.
- 30:04Speaker 7: Oh, great player. Have you looked at his his off
- 30:07Speaker 7: the field transgressions.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Yeah, it's long. Okay, Well, you know a little spice.
- 30:15Speaker 7: To the roster when you're adding Jermaine Burton to the
- 30:19Speaker 7: conversation is probably not the culture.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Okay, Johnny Wilson, I like just because of his size,
- 30:25Speaker 4: six six out of f s. U love that for you.
- 30:27Speaker 4: But he's a lower round pick.
- 30:29Speaker 7: I mean you know, no, no, no, no, no, no. When do
- 30:31Speaker 7: you think he could go fourth round? Fourth third, fourth round?
- 30:34Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, I mean he didn't. I have he didn't
- 30:38Speaker 4: have great production in college, that's true, but I think
- 30:41Speaker 4: there's something there can't catch.
- 30:43Speaker 7: Yeah, so you're gonna have to work on that.
- 30:45Speaker 4: And then local guy Jalen Cocher from Holy Cross, Yeah,
- 30:49Speaker 4: you know, take the local guy late round pick.
- 30:52Speaker 7: Fun tape like that. That's one of those receiver tapes
- 30:55Speaker 7: that you're like, all right, will you know that he's
- 30:57Speaker 7: playing against, you know, guys that are going to be
- 30:59Speaker 7: like Carson Helman an account, So we're not going to
- 31:01Speaker 7: get too excited about this, but they the tape itself
- 31:06Speaker 7: is he's got some dominant, dominant catches just going above people,
- 31:10Speaker 7: moss and people.
- 31:11Speaker 4: It's fun. I'd love to take a guy from Holy
- 31:13Speaker 4: Cross'd be good, would be ecstatic. That would then I
- 31:16Speaker 4: lumped guards, tackles in centers kind of together. Again, these
- 31:22Speaker 4: aren't first round picks, any of them. But a Tanner
- 31:25Speaker 4: Bertolini from Wisconsin. He's more of a guard.
- 31:29Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe even the center. But you can never go
- 31:31Speaker 7: wrong with Wisconsin offensive lineman.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I liked him because he's literally played four positions on
- 31:36Speaker 4: the line.
- 31:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I've heard a lot of center with him, but
- 31:40Speaker 7: he's just that's Wisconsin. You know, they're just tough, they pump,
- 31:44Speaker 7: you know, good play strength.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Oh he's not good enough to have a spot.
- 31:48Speaker 6: That the Midwest offensive lineman they just corn fed.
- 31:54Speaker 7: You could literally tell me that this guy. Think you
- 31:57Speaker 7: could tell me that this guy went to Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska,
- 32:00Speaker 7: Like I would just be like, all right, it's the
- 32:02Speaker 7: same person.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Thank you, Iowa, then Iowa.
- 32:05Speaker 7: Good one.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Then I like this guy because he was in Germany
- 32:09Speaker 4: until he was sixteen.
- 32:10Speaker 7: Brandon Coleman from TCU. Yeah, good, good job, Fred.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 7: Yeah, So Brandon Coleman was much better in twenty twenty two,
- 32:18Speaker 7: had some injuries in twenty three. So he's like the pert.
- 32:21Speaker 7: He's everybody's by low at left tackle, like you're you're
- 32:25Speaker 7: you're gonna get him in the third or fourth round.
- 32:27Speaker 7: Coming into the season, some people thought he was going
- 32:29Speaker 7: to be a top fifty pick, but because he had
- 32:31Speaker 7: sort of a bad twenty twenty three, it regressed a
- 32:35Speaker 7: little bit for him. But his tape against Georgia in
- 32:38Speaker 7: the championship game two years ago, he was one of
- 32:40Speaker 7: the few guys on TCU that actually looked like they
- 32:42Speaker 7: belonged on the same field against Georgia in that game.
- 32:45Speaker 7: So he can play.
- 32:47Speaker 4: And then another local pick, Christian Mahogany, I have lais
- 32:50Speaker 4: the wood. Mahogany lays the wood, no comment, So I
- 33:00Speaker 4: so you know, nice one. Yeah, he's a good player.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Two more in this category Travis Glover, I have from uh,
- 33:11Speaker 4: Georgia State. H what did I have? Four thousand snaps? No,
- 33:17Speaker 4: what is it? Yeah, he's got a lot of wear
- 33:19Speaker 4: in his time.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's another six year guy. Yeah. The other Coleman
- 33:23Speaker 3: was too.
- 33:23Speaker 4: I think, but I think he's a good experienced guy
- 33:26Speaker 4: that you could bring in. And then Julian Pearl from Illinois.
- 33:29Speaker 3: I said he's got six year guy.
- 33:30Speaker 4: I said he's got the perfect body type, but needs coaching.
- 33:33Speaker 7: Good job, Fred, Look at that Julian another late round
- 33:38Speaker 7: guy that you know, six seventh round guy, but one
- 33:41Speaker 7: of the exactly what you said. He's toolsy, like he's
- 33:43Speaker 7: got all of the things that you need, but he
- 33:46Speaker 7: needs to be be coached.
- 33:48Speaker 3: So can I ask a very honest question, Yeah, how
- 33:50Speaker 3: do you determine? Like I assume that it's your process, Yeah,
- 33:54Speaker 3: how did you how do you Winnow? This these lists
- 33:58Speaker 3: down to four or five guys.
- 33:59Speaker 4: So I I have two sources. I have our lads
- 34:03Speaker 4: and I have the Beast. The Beast, and so then
- 34:06Speaker 4: I look at some you know, later round guys that
- 34:08Speaker 4: they're looking at. Then I look at, you know, the
- 34:10Speaker 4: tape that I have available, which is all their highlights
- 34:13Speaker 4: and and just.
- 34:15Speaker 3: So you look at like as sixth or seventh round
- 34:21Speaker 3: projections that you look at and you're like, oh, I
- 34:24Speaker 3: like this guy. I didn't like that.
- 34:25Speaker 4: I kind of look at the right up and say, like,
- 34:27Speaker 4: who has the least amount of you know, red flags?
- 34:31Speaker 4: You know? Although I did I missed on Burton, I didn't.
- 34:34Speaker 7: Yeah, So I thought, and the Beast is the number
- 34:38Speaker 7: one draft guides. I'm not trying to I thought he
- 34:41Speaker 7: went a little easy on him, honestly in the right up.
- 34:44Speaker 7: So he's been I think it's six different schools over
- 34:48Speaker 7: the last eight years because he keeps on, you know,
- 34:51Speaker 7: overstating is welcome and all these schools and they get
- 34:54Speaker 7: rid of them. Both the coaching staffs at Georgia and
- 34:56Speaker 7: Alabama had all sorts of trouble trying to keep him
- 34:59Speaker 7: on the tracks. It just he's just one of those guys.
- 35:01Speaker 7: And then at the end of one of the games
- 35:04Speaker 7: last year, he got into a fistfight with a woman
- 35:08Speaker 7: in the stans.
- 35:09Speaker 3: So I was gonna ask you, if there was specific violence,
- 35:11Speaker 3: should cross him. I would cross him if this.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Specific climbed to the stands after the game.
- 35:16Speaker 7: It was like in then, like the tunnel area situation.
- 35:20Speaker 7: I think if he had a clean bill health, let's
- 35:24Speaker 7: call it that, he would probably be easily a second
- 35:28Speaker 7: round pick on talent alone. I mean, he's the tape
- 35:30Speaker 7: is really really good.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's a head case. All right. Defensive tackle,
- 35:35Speaker 4: I only had one justin the guy from Alabama, a Booga,
- 35:39Speaker 4: a bougay. I have moved tackle, gets low and has
- 35:44Speaker 4: a good anchor against the run.
- 35:46Speaker 7: So I I when I watched Alabama their defense this year.
- 35:51Speaker 4: He's only two ninety.
- 35:53Speaker 7: He's such a Patriot defensive lineman. The way he takes
- 35:56Speaker 7: on blocks, the way that he navigates boxing the run game,
- 35:59Speaker 7: one of those two gapping Nick Saban Bill Belichick defensive lineman.
- 36:03Speaker 7: Like he's exactly you know. One of his measurable comps
- 36:08Speaker 7: that you have, you know on all these sites is
- 36:11Speaker 7: Ty Warren, like just exactly what you would picture a
- 36:14Speaker 7: Patriot defensive end to look like.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Uh Then at at defensive end or edge, I got
- 36:20Speaker 4: Eric Watts from Yukon.
- 36:22Speaker 7: Yeahs got a couple of players in this dra I have.
- 36:24Speaker 4: I said, he hits hard h six four.
- 36:28Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, the good edge setter. You know, Yukon's got him.
- 36:31Speaker 7: He's got They got the guard Haynes as well. That's
- 36:33Speaker 7: gonna get drafted pretty high. Not a bad year for Yukon.
- 36:37Speaker 4: And then I have two maybe undersized linebackers that I
- 36:40Speaker 4: kind of like, I'm I'm thinking speed more now at
- 36:44Speaker 4: linebacker is what we need. But anyway, steel Chambers have
- 36:48Speaker 4: you heard him that name?
- 36:49Speaker 7: No, that one's even too deep for me. Yeah really
- 36:52Speaker 7: yeah steel Chambers, Nope, name that's a good one.
- 36:56Speaker 4: I think Ohio State. He's out of Ohio State. Uh,
- 37:00Speaker 4: he's only six foot six feet to twenty six, but quick,
- 37:04Speaker 4: quick as the devil, very quick. See I got them
- 37:08Speaker 4: as special teams maybe, but good tackler and he goes
- 37:11Speaker 4: sideline to side.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 7: When you here two twenty six in the Patriots, it's.
- 37:14Speaker 3: A yeah, that's really small.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Yeah. And then Michael Barrett from Michigan, but he's only
- 37:20Speaker 4: five eleven, So.
- 37:21Speaker 7: That both Michigan linebackers can play. Junior Colson's the other
- 37:24Speaker 7: one that's gonna be like a top seventy five pick,
- 37:26Speaker 7: top fifty pick.
- 37:27Speaker 3: What's the weight though, two thirty three, that's a little bit.
- 37:30Speaker 4: I said. He's quick and he can cover.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 7: The issue with both Michigan linebackers that I had is
- 37:36Speaker 7: that both of them against Alabama and the playoff could
- 37:40Speaker 7: not get off a block to save their life. And
- 37:42Speaker 7: I'm still a little old school with linebackers, like I
- 37:44Speaker 7: don't need them to be Fuljabwan Bentley like you can
- 37:47Speaker 7: be sort of in between there, but if you can't,
- 37:50Speaker 7: if a guard's pulling up to the second level and
- 37:52Speaker 7: he's coming right at you and you're just a speed
- 37:55Speaker 7: bump in the way, of a sixty yard touchdown, I
- 37:57Speaker 7: can't have it.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Yeah, so I haven't got the cornerback since efeties yet.
- 38:00Speaker 4: But that's my back of the envelope list.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Can we do a quick note on Burton before we
- 38:04Speaker 2: move on completely?
- 38:05Speaker 5: Okay, the kill apparently the fans rush the field. He
- 38:08Speaker 5: was trying to get to the locker room. So I
- 38:10Speaker 5: don't know what he did to this woman, if you
- 38:12Speaker 5: plowed through her or just like shoved her out of
- 38:14Speaker 5: the way. But then when he this is my issue,
- 38:16Speaker 5: he addressed the situation, he said that whole situation, it
- 38:19Speaker 5: was a mistake.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Okay. Then he goes on to say, I can't hold
- 38:24Speaker 2: that against myself forever. A mistake is a mistake. You
- 38:27Speaker 2: move past it.
- 38:28Speaker 5: I'm not going to let that situation frame me as
- 38:31Speaker 5: a person. Okay, Like that's half accountability.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Kyle Philipowski there.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:37Speaker 6: Interesting.
- 38:38Speaker 7: I'm not surprised at all, just to go back to
- 38:40Speaker 7: Xavier Logette, not surprised at all that you're a Xavier
- 38:43Speaker 7: log At guy, because my con for him is debo.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 7: So they're very very similar players. And I think that
- 38:51Speaker 7: you know, I know how much you love so I
- 38:53Speaker 7: think he's definitely someone at thirty four that has risen
- 38:58Speaker 7: up throughout this process quickly two one pounds runs a
- 39:03Speaker 7: four to three nine at two twenty one. Good luck
- 39:06Speaker 7: tackling that.
- 39:07Speaker 4: I like that.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Yeah, so he's a good player. I like him.
- 39:11Speaker 7: Yeah, it's not a route runner, not like a technician,
- 39:14Speaker 7: not like Conky.
- 39:16Speaker 3: But he finds a way to get to space, like
- 39:18Speaker 3: he gets open, but he just kind of rounds off
- 39:20Speaker 3: his thoughts a little bit. But yeah, he's he's not
- 39:23Speaker 3: a bad player.
- 39:23Speaker 7: Yeah, good hands too.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Okay, anyone else have like any back of the envelope
- 39:29Speaker 4: guys like Pet.
- 39:31Speaker 3: I'm just going to tell you right now, especially Friday. Yeah,
- 39:34Speaker 3: I think we'll all be all fine on Thursday. On Friday.
- 39:37Speaker 3: I'm leaning heavily on you. Okay, I'm coming at you.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I'm at you, bro any Pet with your behind what
- 39:42Speaker 3: is it?
- 39:43Speaker 4: Back of the envelope, back of the envelope.
- 39:45Speaker 7: List, good good names? Very I mean, I'm interested in
- 39:48Speaker 7: your corners in safeties though you said you haven't.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Done them yet, and I need to know I haven't
- 39:51Speaker 4: done them yet.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Do them later.
- 39:54Speaker 6: I am intrigued. This is like not coming here, but
- 39:58Speaker 6: I'm intrigued to see where Spencer Rattler goes, just because
- 40:01Speaker 6: he just has had a very unorthodox college career, especially
- 40:05Speaker 6: considering you know, his show and transferring from Oklahoma South Carolina.
- 40:10Speaker 6: I feel like he tested well, had a great combine, offseason,
- 40:13Speaker 6: all the things. So I'm interested to see where he goes. Okay,
- 40:15Speaker 6: I think he could be like a sneaky good pick
- 40:17Speaker 6: for someone.
- 40:18Speaker 3: All right, it's got a lot of ability, yeah he does.
- 40:22Speaker 5: I just want good people with good stories.
- 40:25Speaker 2: My favorite part of the draft.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Is lifestyle patriots.
- 40:31Speaker 2: He's going to give me good material.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Who's going to be personable, who's got the cool wife
- 40:35Speaker 4: or girls?
- 40:36Speaker 2: Who has who's dating a model?
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 40:38Speaker 6: Whatever, We're going to draft JJ. And then Alex is
- 40:41Speaker 6: going to go and learn about Meditation's meditator.
- 40:48Speaker 3: You're teaching her meditate. She knows it all, just to
- 40:51Speaker 3: ask her.
- 40:53Speaker 7: Spencer Ratler is an interesting one.
- 40:56Speaker 6: I think he's I think I think he's an interesting pick.
- 40:59Speaker 3: I he's got a lot of ability.
- 41:01Speaker 7: He's one of those guys that one of these the
- 41:03Speaker 7: jets that already have an established veteran starter, and Aaron
- 41:08Speaker 7: Rodgers doesn't need him to play right away. You're you're
- 41:10Speaker 7: taking You're throwing a dart and help bad Dill and
- 41:13Speaker 7: hoping that it that it works out. And he has
- 41:16Speaker 7: two things, you know, really really good in the pocket,
- 41:18Speaker 7: and he has got arm talent and if you have
- 41:20Speaker 7: if you check those two boxes, then you have a chance.
- 41:24Speaker 4: Okay, Well he.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Was supposed to be fred something really really special and
- 41:30Speaker 3: he never panned out. Like he wasn't great at Oklahoma,
- 41:32Speaker 3: he wasn't great at South Carolina, but he was like
- 41:36Speaker 3: the number one prospect his his year coming out. He
- 41:40Speaker 3: has a great arm, he can move, as Evan said,
- 41:44Speaker 3: he can make sort of something out of nothing at times.
- 41:48Speaker 3: The problem is he tries to do way too much,
- 41:50Speaker 3: way too often, and I personally don't think he will work.
- 41:54Speaker 3: But that's not a bad dice roll with like a
- 41:56Speaker 3: day two pick.
- 41:57Speaker 7: Yeah, he's also undersized.
- 42:00Speaker 3: If he was not big, if he was six '.
- 42:02Speaker 7: Four instead of six feet, then this would be a
- 42:05Speaker 7: different conversation. We'd be talking about him as a much
- 42:08Speaker 7: higher pick. I just think with all the things that
- 42:10Speaker 7: Paul said and the fact that he's a little bit smaller,
- 42:13Speaker 7: it's just a.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Lot and just one final little factoid, you know, getting
- 42:18Speaker 3: back to the top of the quarterback chart. Caleb Williams
- 42:22Speaker 3: pretty much took his job, and it was I think
- 42:24Speaker 3: Rattler's third year at Oklahoma. He played right away. Ratler
- 42:28Speaker 3: played at Oklahoma pretty quickly, and I think it was
- 42:31Speaker 3: his third year there. About halfway. It happened in the
- 42:35Speaker 3: Texas game, the Red River rivalry, which I can never say,
- 42:40Speaker 3: but Williams came in, they were down big. He led
- 42:43Speaker 3: them to a big comeback, and Caleb Williams kind of
- 42:46Speaker 3: eventually took the job from him that year. Ironically, they
- 42:50Speaker 3: both transferred after that year because Lincoln Riley went to
- 42:53Speaker 3: USC and Williams followed him, and Rattler transferred to South Carolina.
- 43:00Speaker 3: But Williams was better at Oklahoma than Rattler.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Was six feet though. I worry about that.
- 43:05Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, well, because it's really like five ten, five eleven, right.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Probably six two. He's too small to Yeah, I mean,
- 43:13Speaker 4: it didn't help him. You have to be like a
- 43:15Speaker 4: Drew Brees to overcome that, you know, Like Drew Brees's
- 43:18Speaker 4: anticipation was uncanny, you know, and it's almost like he
- 43:22Speaker 4: didn't have to see the guy open. He would throw
- 43:25Speaker 4: him open, which all quarterback should do. But at his height,
- 43:29Speaker 4: it's harder to do, and yet he was able to
- 43:31Speaker 4: overcome it.
- 43:32Speaker 6: I think, do you think there's any chance the Patriots
- 43:34Speaker 6: double dip in quarterback or you just fine with the
- 43:37Speaker 6: three that?
- 43:38Speaker 4: I don't think up high? But I could see them
- 43:40Speaker 4: taking one first round and then six round, you know absolutely?
- 43:45Speaker 3: You know Evan, who's my guy?
- 43:47Speaker 6: What's the two lane's quarterbacks?
- 43:49Speaker 4: Name?
- 43:52Speaker 3: My double tip?
- 43:54Speaker 7: Michael Pratt's Michael Pratt's interesting because I said this to
- 43:57Speaker 7: you at one point, you think that you're getting yourself
- 44:00Speaker 7: into this like game manager Kirk Cousins type of guy,
- 44:04Speaker 7: and then you turn on the film. He's the total
- 44:07Speaker 7: opposite of that. But he's just built like those guys,
- 44:10Speaker 7: and he had his timing and his anticipation and all
- 44:13Speaker 7: that stuff needs a lot of work. But he's athletic.
- 44:16Speaker 7: You can run around a little bit.
- 44:18Speaker 3: He's a little crazy. Yeah, helmet gets knocked off like
- 44:20Speaker 3: once or twice again.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Don't you think it's kind of I don't know what
- 44:24Speaker 4: the right adjective is, are is funny? Weird? Whatever? But like,
- 44:30Speaker 4: how many D one colleges are there?
- 44:34Speaker 3: Twelve?
- 44:35Speaker 4: All right? And every year we're talking about two or
- 44:37Speaker 4: three like quarterbacks that really are the top prospect. Isn't
- 44:42Speaker 4: that kind of weird? Do you think? Whoa Like there's
- 44:46Speaker 4: not that many to go around, yet there's so many
- 44:49Speaker 4: every team needs a quarterback.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I get your point, but they don't
- 44:53Speaker 3: all expore, you know, their eligibility or is not all
- 44:57Speaker 3: up No I know.
- 44:57Speaker 4: But like even right now, if you look at the
- 44:59Speaker 4: college ranks, like you know, I don't, I don't hear
- 45:03Speaker 4: about like guys in the waiting that are the next
- 45:06Speaker 4: big thing, you know, Arch Panning, Yeah.
- 45:09Speaker 8: That was a joke or.
- 45:12Speaker 4: Or Shakir.
- 45:15Speaker 6: I think I feel like it's going to be the
- 45:22Speaker 6: next like Caleb Williams in the sense of like his camp,
- 45:24Speaker 6: his father doing a lot of talking and telling of
- 45:28Speaker 6: where he's going and not going and all the things.
- 45:30Speaker 6: The ball.
- 45:32Speaker 7: Is like that, how they're handling the transfer portal. It's
- 45:36Speaker 7: just it's a lot.
- 45:37Speaker 6: It's offensive players D M my son, defensive players DM
- 45:40Speaker 6: my other son.
- 45:41Speaker 4: It's like it's just to me, it's like with all
- 45:44Speaker 4: the college quarterbacks that are out there, you're lucky. Every
- 45:47Speaker 4: year if you get one or two that really really
- 45:50Speaker 4: great player, you're right. And it just shows like how
- 45:53Speaker 4: hard that position is. It's A. It's a really tough,
- 45:57Speaker 4: tough position.
- 45:59Speaker 7: Develop mental position. And I think a lot of the
- 46:02Speaker 7: time what happens is that drafting these guys is half
- 46:05Speaker 7: the battle. Then you have to get him in here,
- 46:08Speaker 7: you have to continue developing them, you have to build
- 46:10Speaker 7: you know, an offense around them. And so often we
- 46:13Speaker 7: just think that these guys are going to come in
- 46:14Speaker 7: and be saviors and they're just gonna be Andrew Luck
- 46:17Speaker 7: and take a one win team and turn them into
- 46:19Speaker 7: a playoff team overnight. And that's just totally unrealistic.
- 46:23Speaker 4: I know, there's a lot of examples of guys that
- 46:25Speaker 4: had high expectations coming out of college and never made
- 46:28Speaker 4: in the pros. But I'll ask, you know, these guys
- 46:32Speaker 4: because I don't know the answer, and so you know,
- 46:36Speaker 4: but like, who do you think is a guy that
- 46:40Speaker 4: came out of college and uh, you know got ruined,
- 46:46Speaker 4: like you know, by David Carr by who he was
- 46:49Speaker 4: chosen by r G three. Well that's injury, right more
- 46:55Speaker 4: Yeah hurt, Yeah, he got hurt. So that's that's an exception.
- 46:58Speaker 4: But like I mean I was still a child, yeah, yeah,
- 47:02Speaker 4: like he should have been better.
- 47:04Speaker 7: Yeah, I would say David Carr is probably the pasted child.
- 47:08Speaker 7: I still think Justin Field should have been better than
- 47:10Speaker 7: he is.
- 47:11Speaker 4: Yeah, well, the jury's not out on him.
- 47:13Speaker 7: Yeah, I just think physically, talent wise it was not.
- 47:17Speaker 7: That was not the issue with him. I think in Chicago,
- 47:21Speaker 7: they they're kind of a mess.
- 47:23Speaker 6: Who was the one that the documentary came out about.
- 47:25Speaker 3: I can't think of Johnny Manziel. Yeah, yeah, he's a mess. Yeah,
- 47:29Speaker 3: Like I don't think Cleveland. I don't think that. I
- 47:31Speaker 3: think he ruined himself with his substance abuse and his
- 47:34Speaker 3: lack of professionalism.
- 47:36Speaker 5: And then he dated that girl that ran a marathon
- 47:38Speaker 5: in record time because she cheated, and then.
- 47:40Speaker 6: She likes, wait, you can cheat, and America remember this.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Johnny Manziel's girlfriend ran a marathon I don't remember, and cheated.
- 47:49Speaker 5: Must have taken like a subway or something. She finished
- 47:52Speaker 5: with a time that would have had her like blowing
- 47:54Speaker 5: away Olympians, and when they she was called out, she
- 47:58Speaker 5: tried to stand by it.
- 47:59Speaker 3: And it was like, no, I did that. That famously
- 48:01Speaker 3: happened in the Boston Marathon when Fred and I were
- 48:05Speaker 3: Rosie Luise.
- 48:06Speaker 7: She like cut corners or something.
- 48:08Speaker 2: I believe she actually, I think she was wife even worse.
- 48:12Speaker 3: I think she actually took the tea.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, she hopped on.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Yeah thought, I mean, I forget that that might be
- 48:18Speaker 3: like a turban legend. But she cheated and.
- 48:21Speaker 4: They figured it out within the next day. Ye the
- 48:23Speaker 4: next day. I thought it was so but yeah, Rosie Luise, like.
- 48:26Speaker 3: She came in and like people were talking like she
- 48:30Speaker 3: no one knew who she was, and she didn't really
- 48:32Speaker 3: have like the prototypical distance runner. Look, she was a
- 48:36Speaker 3: little like Doe, you know, not to beat all body
- 48:40Speaker 3: shaming because who am I?
- 48:41Speaker 2: But you don't run a marathon at that level?
- 48:43Speaker 8: You don't.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not. You're not winning marathons with that.
- 48:47Speaker 4: She's obviously burning cows right.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Like right away. There was all kinds of red flags.
- 48:51Speaker 3: And the next day they said that Jackie Garrow, yeah
- 48:54Speaker 3: won it, right.
- 48:56Speaker 9: Benzel's wife ran the half marathon in an hour fifty
- 48:58Speaker 9: eight minutes off of new training.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Apparently, oh my god, nothing looking.
- 49:04Speaker 5: Like an Instagram model all the whole time, doesn't even
- 49:06Speaker 5: break a sweat, I can't.
- 49:08Speaker 4: All right, Hey, Patriots fans, if you want to see

- 49:46Speaker 4: Jellette Stadium, E one entrance. You may get an on
- 49:49Speaker 4: the spot offer to join the team. You don't even
- 49:51Speaker 4: have to get drafted to show up. All right, We're
- 49:55Speaker 4: gonna keep going. We're not gonna take a break because
- 49:57Speaker 4: food's not here. We have a lot of emails. Anything
- 50:00Speaker 4: else anybody wants to talk about that's going on.
- 50:03Speaker 7: Rahap Sheet just tweeted. He said. While the Commanders and
- 50:07Speaker 7: Patriots have received calls from teams attempting to move up
- 50:09Speaker 7: for QB, Washington has shown no indication it would move.
- 50:13Speaker 7: Per him and Mike Garafualo. New England would move for
- 50:17Speaker 7: the right offer, but the Pats just haven't gotten such
- 50:20Speaker 7: an offer yet.
- 50:21Speaker 4: So, I mean a lot of this is draft stuff.
- 50:25Speaker 4: It's you know, the fog of war. But the fact
- 50:29Speaker 4: that the Patriots would be willing to move out, what's
- 50:34Speaker 4: your first thought.
- 50:37Speaker 6: You're aware that you have a lot of needs.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Well that whoever whoever it is, whether it's you know,
- 50:43Speaker 4: of the two quarterbacks that could be available, you're not
- 50:46Speaker 4: one hund Righteah, It doesn't that tell you that now
- 50:51Speaker 4: they could be smoke screen Yep, you know, you never
- 50:53Speaker 4: That's what I'm hoping. It's the fog of war, But
- 50:57Speaker 4: that's the first thing that comes to mind when I
- 50:59Speaker 4: hear that.
- 51:00Speaker 7: Yeah, on the surface, Yeah, like I would say.
- 51:02Speaker 4: The commanders know the person we're gonna get him. It's
- 51:05Speaker 4: not gonna be Caleb Williams because he's not gonna be available.
- 51:07Speaker 4: But whether it's.
- 51:08Speaker 7: Drake may Or or they're taking or.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Jaden Daniels, they're sold on that person.
- 51:15Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, I think that My guess is that
- 51:18Speaker 7: they probably see these other guys pretty similarly, like Drake May, J. J. McCarthy,
- 51:23Speaker 7: Michael Pennix. They probably have in a similar bucket, similar tear.
- 51:28Speaker 7: So if we can get the bag and then just
- 51:32Speaker 7: take the other quarterback at eleven, then what differences.
- 51:35Speaker 4: So you know, that's one strategy to have it out
- 51:37Speaker 4: there that we would be willing to listen. The other
- 51:39Speaker 4: strategy is, even if you're willing to listen, you put
- 51:42Speaker 4: it out there that no, we're sold on a guy
- 51:45Speaker 4: just so when they come, they come hard at you.
- 51:47Speaker 4: You know, yeah, what what.
- 51:54Speaker 3: But so?
- 51:55Speaker 6: But but I also think, what what if? This is
- 51:57Speaker 6: why I don't like, oh my goodness, So what if
- 52:01Speaker 6: you what if you're thinking, like, okay, like if we
- 52:03Speaker 6: get offered the bag and can get multiple first round picks,
- 52:06Speaker 6: we can build our team and then get.
- 52:10Speaker 4: If you believe, like you know, from Drake May to
- 52:13Speaker 4: you know, maybe three or three quarterbacks deep, you can
- 52:17Speaker 4: still get your guy. Then you play it that way.
- 52:20Speaker 4: But like if you really think that, you know, Drake
- 52:22Speaker 4: May is head and shoulders above anybody else JJ McCarthy
- 52:26Speaker 4: on down, then you know you're kind of taking a risk.
- 52:30Speaker 4: But you know, you could be thinking either way.
- 52:33Speaker 7: I don't I think at.
- 52:33Speaker 6: This point it has to be Drake May because we've
- 52:35Speaker 6: already come up with like a hundred captions like me
- 52:37Speaker 6: goes with so many things.
- 52:39Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I have I have a fear with them
- 52:43Speaker 7: and Drake May that they don't have the gumption to
- 52:46Speaker 7: do it because of the development that he's gonna need.
- 52:49Speaker 7: And you've heard a lot of people around the lead
- 52:52Speaker 7: these anonymous sources articles and things like that basically alluding
- 52:56Speaker 7: to the fact that you might get fired. But if
- 52:59Speaker 7: by the time Drake May is ready to be the guy, thankes.
- 53:03Speaker 3: So my feeling is, if you are interested to trade
- 53:07Speaker 3: down because you want to try to build the team
- 53:10Speaker 3: and add picks and then get the quarterback later, why
- 53:14Speaker 3: wouldn't you just take the quarterback and then you know
- 53:18Speaker 3: he's probably not going to play, like a lot of
- 53:21Speaker 3: people have said, Drake May, you know, might sit the
- 53:23Speaker 3: whole year, let alone not start the beginning of it.
- 53:26Speaker 3: So then next year you're probably going to have another
- 53:29Speaker 3: pretty good pick. Trade down next year and add picks
- 53:33Speaker 3: so you can build the team around him. Like, why
- 53:35Speaker 3: can't you do it that way right as opposed to
- 53:38Speaker 3: rolling the dice of getting a tackle and wide receiver
- 53:41Speaker 3: at eleven and twenty three, just to use the Minnesota example,
- 53:44Speaker 3: and then get a quarterback next year that may not exist.
- 53:47Speaker 4: I've gone through like all these people that say you
- 53:49Speaker 4: have to have the team ready for their quarterback. It
- 53:52Speaker 4: makes no sense. You can do it the other way.
- 53:55Speaker 4: You know, get the quarterback and then start building around him.
- 53:57Speaker 4: You can do it the other way.
- 53:59Speaker 7: I also just you look at if it is eleven
- 54:01Speaker 7: and twenty three, you're not even getting the best receivers
- 54:04Speaker 7: in tackles. Yeah, you're you're not.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Just kind of my feeling with Tomarrow when she said,
- 54:08Speaker 3: you know you can get because you're not gonna use
- 54:10Speaker 3: probably eleven on a tackle. So now you're getting five six, Yeah, tackle.
- 54:15Speaker 7: I mean if you're let's just say they're not taking
- 54:17Speaker 7: a quarterback in the first round and they're really doing
- 54:20Speaker 7: the we're gonna build up the team and we're gonna Yeah,
- 54:22Speaker 7: like you could take maybe Olufashanu is there at eleven
- 54:26Speaker 7: for you to take a tackle, but the three, the
- 54:28Speaker 7: big three receivers are not gonna be there. You're not
- 54:31Speaker 7: gonna get Harrison Adunze or Neighbors what the eleventh pick.
- 54:35Speaker 7: Those guys are going to be gone. Alt is obviously
- 54:38Speaker 7: going to be gone. So you're really looking at you're
- 54:41Speaker 7: you're looking at Whanu you know Fagala one of the
- 54:45Speaker 7: whoever's tight tackle two on your board, and then maybe
- 54:49Speaker 7: like you know one of the Texas kids, you know,
- 54:51Speaker 7: added I Mitchell, you know one of those players at
- 54:54Speaker 7: twenty three, which isn't like a terrible haul, but it's
- 54:57Speaker 7: you're not even getting the blue chip player.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's not out of the realm. You know,
- 55:02Speaker 3: I've said this going back months now, Like I'm not
- 55:06Speaker 3: as anti trade down as I normally would be because
- 55:08Speaker 3: I do recognize they have a lot of needs. I
- 55:11Speaker 3: just at some point you gotta I don't. I don't.
- 55:15Speaker 3: I'm not a big fan of it needs to be
- 55:16Speaker 3: done in a certain order. Yeah, you know, I don't
- 55:19Speaker 3: care what order you fill these needs.
- 55:21Speaker 4: I think what scares Patriots fans is like if they
- 55:24Speaker 4: were sold on Drake May, they wouldn't even be considering
- 55:27Speaker 4: you know.
- 55:28Speaker 3: That's kind of how I feel. I'm not gonna lie,
- 55:30Speaker 3: and that's fair.
- 55:30Speaker 4: But again, it could be just a smoke screen, you know,
- 55:33Speaker 4: you never, you know, just we're keeping all options available.
- 55:36Speaker 4: But i'd rather but we really do love Drake May.
- 55:39Speaker 3: If you were going to go smoke screen, I'd rather
- 55:41Speaker 3: you go that smoke screen, we really love. We're not going.
- 55:43Speaker 3: We're not moving. Yeah, we're not moving. And then you know,
- 55:47Speaker 3: maybe someone can say, okay, so we're not getting it
- 55:50Speaker 3: for just eleven and twenty three. We gotta we gotta
- 55:53Speaker 3: put something in this. Yeah, you know, we gotta, we
- 55:56Speaker 3: gotta give more because they don't they like the guy
- 55:58Speaker 3: and they're going to stay there, so we got to
- 56:00Speaker 3: blow them away. If we're going to move up right
- 56:02Speaker 3: right right, yep, I'd rather it that way. If it's
- 56:06Speaker 3: if we're going smoke screens.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, or it's high stakes.
- 56:13Speaker 6: People could also just be waiting to see what the
- 56:15Speaker 6: commanders are going to do first before they put all
- 56:17Speaker 6: their chips on the table in front of everyone. Maybe
- 56:19Speaker 6: they want to wait and see, like, okay, they're going
- 56:21Speaker 6: to choose Jayden, and if they don't choose him, then
- 56:23Speaker 6: they're like, okay, we'll give everything we have to kid
- 56:25Speaker 6: Jayden at three.
- 56:26Speaker 4: If you go back to twenty twenty, was that the
- 56:28Speaker 4: year Mac Jones was twenty twenty one? If you went
- 56:30Speaker 4: back to the twenty one draft, how would you redo that?
- 56:34Speaker 4: You know, like, what would you what would you have
- 56:37Speaker 4: a chance to redo history?
- 56:38Speaker 3: I mean the whole like all the picks.
- 56:40Speaker 7: That that top pick, like what the Patriots top pick. Yeah,
- 56:43Speaker 7: oh no, I wonder I would have done the same
- 56:45Speaker 7: exact thing.
- 56:46Speaker 6: Really, you would have still picked Mac.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 56:49Speaker 7: It was the biggest need on the team, and he
- 56:51Speaker 7: was a first round caliber quarterback.
- 56:52Speaker 4: But you know, now what you didn't know then you
- 56:55Speaker 4: would still do.
- 56:56Speaker 7: That, Yeah, because I I don't do I think Mac
- 56:59Speaker 7: Jones was ever going to be We've been over this, like,
- 57:01Speaker 7: I don't think that Mac Jones ever gonna be an
- 57:02Speaker 7: MVP caliber quarterback in the league. Probably not do. I
- 57:05Speaker 7: think that they fed it up a lot for him. Yeah,
- 57:08Speaker 7: So if I had to redo it, I would redo
- 57:10Speaker 7: it and just do it better than what they Yeah, right,
- 57:14Speaker 7: And I think that if they had done it better
- 57:16Speaker 7: than what they did. You don't make Matt Patricia the
- 57:19Speaker 7: offensive coordinator. You don't make DeVante Parker your big you know,
- 57:23Speaker 7: off season edition at wide receiver. Are we looking at
- 57:26Speaker 7: a situation where Mac Jones is at least a serviceable
- 57:29Speaker 7: starting quarterback in the league.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Yeah, if we're gonna cheat, so we're using all our
- 57:34Speaker 3: information now, yeah right, yep. So I would have like
- 57:37Speaker 3: probably gotten aggressive and tried to get Micah Parsons.
- 57:41Speaker 7: I think that's kind of they. I think that Micah
- 57:43Speaker 7: Parsons might have been who Bill really wanted, and it
- 57:47Speaker 7: he didn't fall to him, so he took the quarterback.
- 57:50Speaker 7: But I still especially just looking in it, unless you
- 57:54Speaker 7: do what Paul did and you trade up, which is
- 57:57Speaker 7: a totally different consea.
- 57:58Speaker 3: I'm cheating, So I'm cheating knowing that this guy is
- 58:01Speaker 3: a really good.
- 58:02Speaker 4: So you think the Patriots did Mac dirty for sure?
- 58:05Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I don't do. I think that's the
- 58:07Speaker 7: only reason that he failed. No, but I think that
- 58:09Speaker 7: when you drafted him, you knew that you weren't drafting
- 58:13Speaker 7: Patrick Mahomes like you knew that you were drafting a
- 58:15Speaker 7: guy with a limited ceiling. And the best that you
- 58:18Speaker 7: did was, you know, Juju Smith, Schusters and Devonte Parkers
- 58:22Speaker 7: and those level of players. And I don't know what
- 58:24Speaker 7: they expected him to do with that. I don't know
- 58:27Speaker 7: what they It's.
- 58:28Speaker 3: The age old. A lot of things can be true, the.
- 58:31Speaker 6: Same letting Ted Carris and who was the other person.
- 58:33Speaker 7: Shack Mason.
- 58:34Speaker 6: Shack Mason that you had to stay ye, you gotta
- 58:38Speaker 6: protect him?
- 58:39Speaker 4: Yeah? Interesting? All right, Well, what's even more interesting is
- 58:43Speaker 4: Paul's foods here. So we're gonna take a break. We're
- 58:46Speaker 4: gonna come back more draft uh talk and anything else

- 1:00:29Speaker 11: Guys? We're gonna start with some trivia. As always, send
- 1:00:31Speaker 11: your answers to webrar at Patriots dot com. All right, guys,
- 1:00:34Speaker 11: Question one? How many Patriots Hall of famers played for
- 1:00:37Speaker 11: the team at any point? They're in the nineteen eighties
- 1:00:40Speaker 11: A right. Question two. In nineteen eighty eight, Victor Keem
- 1:00:44Speaker 11: Kime I forget Chime bought the Patriots from Billy Sullivan
- 1:00:48Speaker 11: At that time? Who bought Sullivan Stadium out of bankruptcy.
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:00:52Speaker 11: In question three, who set the Patriots rookie record for
- 1:00:56Speaker 11: saxon a season with ten in nineteen eighty five? Any
- 1:01:00Speaker 11: of those?
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: No?
- 1:01:01Speaker 11: Okay, all right, guys, this is a this is gonna
- 1:01:03Speaker 11: be a fun one here. We're talking about former NFL
- 1:01:06Speaker 11: players turned actors. All Right, So, Chris, you want to
- 1:01:10Speaker 11: kick off with a couple.
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: Yeah, sure, I'll rattle them off. I'm gonna start with
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: the goat rest in peace recently past. Carl Weathers. All right,
- 1:01:20Speaker 8: I mean, talk about a guy who just an absolute
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: beast in the acting field. I mean happy Gilmore right another,
- 1:01:31Speaker 8: I mean that's one of his legendary Well yeah, although
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: you can't forget about the Rocky series, just amazing all
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: the way through episode four. Unfortunately they had to remove
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: him an episode four against Ivan Drago, But I continue, yeah,
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: star Wars. I mean he's just using everything. Yeah, Carl
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: Weathers is absolutely go Terry Terry Crews, white Chicks, longest
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: longest yard, Which longestyard.
- 1:01:59Speaker 10: Of a couple. Yeah, we have a couple.
- 1:02:00Speaker 11: We got we got stone stone colds in that, right,
- 1:02:05Speaker 11: Bill Goldberg and Bill Romanowski.
- 1:02:09Speaker 10: That the bas isn't that too?
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: He isn't that he's the he's one of the guards.
- 1:02:12Speaker 11: The guards, all right, else, let me think here, I'll
- 1:02:18Speaker 11: give you one.
- 1:02:19Speaker 8: Yeah, go ahead, off the rock. Oh my gosh, for
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: although he was shortly Yeah, but to be fair, he
- 1:02:27Speaker 8: even jokes about it in Ballers.
- 1:02:29Speaker 10: Yeah, he pretty much just plays himself.
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: Yeah he does.
- 1:02:32Speaker 11: And then he's a super agent. And you know, that
- 1:02:34Speaker 11: is a show that's so bad, but I love it.
- 1:02:36Speaker 11: It's so bad, but I love every.
- 1:02:37Speaker 8: Second of it. It's so good. The first couple of
- 1:02:39Speaker 8: seasons are really good. Season one is great, the first couple,
- 1:02:42Speaker 8: but then it's like it just gets absurd. It gets absurd.
- 1:02:44Speaker 8: It's silly. But you mentioned the longest yard, but you
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: didn't even say Burt Reynolds. Dude, I know, didn't even
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: say Burt Reynolds. I'm sorry, Like, what are we doing?
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: What are we doing?
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Well?
- 1:02:55Speaker 11: We also could talk about John David Washington. He was
- 1:02:59Speaker 11: on the Practice Squad. Fras Denzel's son played Ricky Jarrett
- 1:03:02Speaker 11: and Follers.
- 1:03:05Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: I didn't even realize, Oh my gosh.
- 1:03:09Speaker 11: He's in the other sci fi movie that just came out.
- 1:03:12Speaker 11: I don't know why I'm blinking on it. The creator
- 1:03:15Speaker 11: that's pretty good, all right. Who else we got ed
- 1:03:18Speaker 11: Mariano or Marin Arrow. He was on the Vikings and
- 1:03:22Speaker 11: he was the head coach in Blue Mountain State.
- 1:03:24Speaker 10: I don't know if he was anything else. That's that's
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: that's a question for Google.
- 1:03:28Speaker 8: So we're talking. We're not talking just movies, right, go
- 1:03:31Speaker 8: for it. So we can we can talk about Brett
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: Farv and all of his commercials that he did growing.
- 1:03:35Speaker 10: Up, commercials to get some ring.
- 1:03:43Speaker 8: I wasn't going that way, but yeah, I'm talking about
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: his commercials. I mean, just if you think about.
- 1:03:49Speaker 11: It, guys, if you google this list, it's insane. I mean,
- 1:03:52Speaker 11: any given Sunday which you mentioned on a previous halftime
- 1:03:55Speaker 11: show that had Lawrence.
- 1:03:56Speaker 10: Taylor, I mean your name.
- 1:04:00Speaker 8: There's a lot of people on that. I can't even
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: go through it. I mean, I've never seen the movie.
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: Actually I didn't finish the movie.
- 1:04:04Speaker 10: I should say, you didn't do your homework.
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: I mean Hein's Ward is in Dark Knight Rises.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Yeah, oh yeah, the same with Big.
- 1:04:11Speaker 11: Then they got they got the whole Steeler. Somebody said,
- 1:04:14Speaker 11: what's the most unrealistic part of that movie? And it
- 1:04:16Speaker 11: was Hines Ward returning the and and.
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: He's the one that returned to the house though, absolute
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: house calling that movie.
- 1:04:24Speaker 11: Can we also talk about we've forgot about our guy
- 1:04:26Speaker 11: who's Tom Brady?
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: Oh my god, for Brady you yeah, dude, he's he
- 1:04:34Speaker 8: go can do it all? Oh yeah, go can do
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: it all? Yeah? Oh, oh my gosh, what are we doing?
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: Mike ditka Oh yeah, kicking and another great one?
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: You kidding me?
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: That's on us, No, that is on us.
- 1:04:52Speaker 10: That's on us.
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: Absolutely. He I don't think I could ever picture that
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: man in a comedy role. And he nailed it.
- 1:05:00Speaker 11: You know, we're just straight a little way from uh
- 1:05:02Speaker 11: from football. But Lebron James for basketball, dude, he's decent
- 1:05:05Speaker 11: some stuff. He's okay, all right, So here here's his
- 1:05:09Speaker 11: is a goon squad?
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: Right, No, yeah, the squad? What's the space jam spaceham
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: my gosh, Chris, oh my gosh.
- 1:05:17Speaker 11: All right, Well, so you know, here's here's a good
- 1:05:18Speaker 11: question before we close this out. What are some current
- 1:05:20Speaker 11: NFL players because you know, everybody gets in the media,
- 1:05:23Speaker 11: but who are some like current NFL players that are
- 1:05:24Speaker 11: gonna be like the next big thing, next big thing,
- 1:05:27Speaker 11: like like acting, Oh boy, off the top of the
- 1:05:31Speaker 11: you gotta go with Travis Kelsey.
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, possibly you think he'll just jump right
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: into acting.
- 1:05:36Speaker 10: I don't know what he's gonna do.
- 1:05:38Speaker 8: I don't think all these guys can just become sportscasters
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: because that seems a lot.
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: Of these were running out of seats.
- 1:05:47Speaker 8: So to pick you back off of that, I yeah,
- 1:05:51Speaker 8: I don't know, I really, I don't know.
- 1:05:53Speaker 11: I'm trying to think Gronk might have a future. He's
- 1:05:56Speaker 11: been in some stuff.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: He's on the wrestling and he's got Fox though he's.
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: He's doing this thing at Fox. Yeah right, I don't know.
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: I don't know why I have charge this. Jetta's maybe
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: if he keeps going on.
- 1:06:09Speaker 11: His pace A dance movie I'm thinking about. More of
- 1:06:14Speaker 11: the guys are on the way out on the way
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: I'm gonna dance Step up twelve Kelsey.
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: I could see in some role.
- 1:06:19Speaker 11: Oh yeah, I mean he was just at WrestleMania. Yeah,
- 1:06:21Speaker 11: like he he he can do it.
- 1:06:23Speaker 10: I think he.
- 1:06:24Speaker 11: But he might be one of those guys that goes
- 1:06:25Speaker 11: to Sports Sports Network.
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: So was Hulk Hogan in the NFL?
- 1:06:31Speaker 10: That's a great question.
- 1:06:33Speaker 11: Morell you know that I think he was hold on
- 1:06:35Speaker 11: Hulk Hogan NFL.
- 1:06:37Speaker 10: We're checking. Please bear with us one second.
- 1:06:42Speaker 11: You gotta keep talking. Wiki says no, he says. The
- 1:06:45Speaker 11: wiki says no, because a.
- 1:06:48Speaker 8: Lot of a lot of those guys become wrestlers too.
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: They they do. That's that's also like where my mind went.
- 1:06:56Speaker 11: All right, no, what's his name in rains was on
- 1:06:59Speaker 11: the vikings right hopefull.
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: Wait hold on Morell just came in and said, whole
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: Covid started wrestling when he was sixteen. That's ridiculous.
- 1:07:07Speaker 10: Listen to your brother. He's way. All their times are
- 1:07:11Speaker 10: different back then.
- 1:07:12Speaker 8: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:07:12Speaker 11: But all right, guys, that was a quick fod one.
- 1:07:15Speaker 11: If you got the trivia right, send your answers to
- 1:07:16Speaker 11: the webrary.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: At patriots dot com.
- 1:07:17Speaker 11: Chris is always thanks for joining, and guys, if you
- 1:07:20Speaker 11: want us to talk about something, to send.
- 1:07:21Speaker 10: Email in too. We got time, got time.
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: But all right, guys, just get back pages up. Phil Thick.
- 1:07:29Speaker 12: When someone accidentally threw away the school play.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Costumes, oh no.
- 1:07:34Speaker 12: Replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:07:38Speaker 12: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:07:42Speaker 12: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:07:51Speaker 8: History.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: Long term deal. Do you think he plays out the franchise?
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:07:54Speaker 10: No, I think he gets a long term deo.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: Yeah, that'd be great.
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: Open up some space.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: It depends on your definition. Are great, it's great to
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: tie up two guards. You know what I'm searching for
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: getting to him. I'm searching for the move that that
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: deuce doesn't like. That's my goal. I want to I
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: want to move that that deuce is not on board
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: with him.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: I think he's completely bought in.
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: He's bought into Belichium.
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: You Havel's bulls eye.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Yep, he's in the cross.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: He's going to like every time.
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: I don't get to yell at him every day like
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: we usually do. We just we just do radio shows.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: Now, I will have to admit, after seeing Brady and
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: a lot of those photoshops buck things, I'm kind of.
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: Like, good luck.
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: Well we knew that, right that good luck.
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: I'm just emitting it.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: You pushed him out.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: That's another great moment from all right.
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Bud Light, the official
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: beer sponsor of the New England Patriots. I could use
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: one right now.

- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Cleaned patio yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: Powerwashed last weekend. I'm ready.
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: The pool at our building open is opening I think
- 1:09:42Speaker 7: two weeks maybe, yeah, sometime in May.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I got to open the pool soon.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't have a pool anymore.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I'm having problems with my pump on the cover.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: So like an idiot, I didn't take the old one
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: in peace cracked off, so I had to get a
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: new one, and they I sold me a bill of goods.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: I'll just want it automatically turns on and off depending
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: on the water level, which is nice because a lot
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: of times you forget that it's on and you end
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: up blowing out the motor by accident. Except it doesn't work,
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: so I just don't think it's strong enough. So my
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: cover has a lot of water. How do you deal
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: with that? I mean, I'll have to get another another pump.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: There's really no way to Before I had like the
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: do you have a cool? It was hard to take
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: the cover off without getting all that creat and my
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: guy for made one. You know, it's the worst.
- 1:10:33Speaker 7: Yeah, it sounds sounds terrible.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: It's it's not well.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: At my house, I had somebody to help me open
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: and close it, and then I took everything, you know,
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: I took it from there.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: What do you mean someone I had a pool service?
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, my my parents have a pool. And it
- 1:10:54Speaker 7: sounds exhausting, Like my dad tells me.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: It's really not. It's unless you like, if you have
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: there's definite horror stories, like if you don't get it right,
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: it's hard to fix it.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: Yeah. He's like a techie guy though, so now everything's automated,
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: like it's all it's all robots.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: Yeah no, I mean you have your pool vacuum that
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: goes and does its thing, but once you open it.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: It should be, you know, you do things on a schedule,
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: but it's not. It's not terribly.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Hard, you know, skim every day.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: But I would just have I'd have a service that
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: opens and closes for you.
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: And I don't really have any trees, so I don't
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: even have to do all that I do.
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: Where my mom is, it's up in the mountains and
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: Ludlow Mountain of chog, so like trees are terrible. In
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: my mom's neighborhood, I was skimming the pool every single morning.
- 1:11:41Speaker 7: I always forget you're from Ludlow, blood Low.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: All right, let's get to the calls and emails. Web
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: radio at patries dot com is the email address one
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: eight hundred four nine four Pats. It's been so long
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: since we take Oh trivia and gas were it's a trivia.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: Oh okay, let me get this out. Oh here we
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: go trivia. Ready. You can laugh.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: You are a laughing You are special.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I just look at you and smile all show every day.
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: Okay, that's funny. How that's nice funny to you. How
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: many Patriots Hall of Famers played for the team at
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: any point during the nineteen eighties. That's kind of a
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: hard question.
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: That's a Paul question.
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: How many Patriots Hall of famers played for the.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: Patriots Hall of Fame? Yeah, team Hall of Famer.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Yeah, team not not Hall of Fame, team Hall of Famers.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: Five nine?
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, so I had off the top of
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: my head, Hannah Tippett, Grogan, Nelson, Armstrong. Yep, so there's more.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Doesn't list them?
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: There's four more?
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Good is that in nineteen eighty eight Victor Kayan bought
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: the Patriots from Billy Sullivan at that time. Who bought
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: Ellivant Stadium out of bankruptcy?
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: Robert Kraft the boss?
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: Well, Steve carp Yeah, he's got Well whoever did this
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: answer k Corp? Which was Craft and Steve Carp Right, Yeah,
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: so we're right, okay. And finally, who set the Patriots
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: rookie record for sacks in a season with ten in
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: nineteen eighty five.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: It's a great question. Oh, garn Verus is correct?
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: Nice, all right, good stuff.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: That's a good question.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: Yeah, somebody actually put some thought into those questions, although
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: it would have been good, you know, in the first
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: one to know who they were.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so let's have.
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: I had five of them, right, Hall of Fame Patriots
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: Hall of Famers that played in the eighties was Stanley
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Morgan played in the eighties.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: Stanley Morgan is six, Ray Claybowen is seven. Okay, gotta
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: get two more.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: Oh, Ben Coates played in the eighties. Didn't he know?
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Oh he didn't.
- 1:14:08Speaker 10: I like that.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Okay, we got seven.
- 1:14:13Speaker 7: Stanley Morgan's on my list of You know, there's guys
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: that I wish that I was alive for when they
- 1:14:18Speaker 7: played the Patriots. Obviously John Hannah's like the biggest one,
- 1:14:21Speaker 7: but Stanley Morgan's on the shortlist too.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: I mean it's interesting to go back and look at
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: guys who played in the seventies and eighties. They they
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: could play now.
- 1:14:29Speaker 7: I think he's one of them. Yeah, I do, especially
- 1:14:32Speaker 7: the way the game is nowadays with his speed.
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: Yep, all right. Barton Poland writes in he said he
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: was listening to the Athletics podcast with Diana Rossini and
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: she said a couple of things that he thought was notable.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: One Daniels would like to play for the Raiders but
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: is most likely going number two, and the Washington visit
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: didn't change anything. And he's more highly regarded than May,
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: especially in the coaching community, which isn't surprising because he's
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: supposed to be more already.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard scouts like may Moore and coaches like
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Daniels Moore. I don't know if that's actly all right.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: And two, the Patriots are taking calls for the number
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: three pick, but it would take a king's ransom for
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: them to trade back and pivot from their plan of
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: taking a quarterback, especially that Jonathan Kraft is heavily involved
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: and ownership may push for a quarterback.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: That's that's according to Diana Rossini.
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: Yess, she's the first one that put out the ownership
- 1:15:31Speaker 7: stuff yesterday tweet as well, so she must have just expanded.
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: On that interest you.
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: Oh there we go, I said it was on. I
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: do think it's interesting how she mentioned that Jonathan would
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: be involved in decision making.
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: Well, I think he's been in the room since they've
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: owned the team. You know, the question is does it
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: as an input increased now.
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: Is involved too, or he's like he's involved in the process,
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: or he's in the decision making, because that's kind of
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: I feel like that's a lot different.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Right right, Like, for example, like I doubt that he's
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: like scouring through scouting.
- 1:16:14Speaker 7: Him, you think he's not grinding the tape.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Right, it's also big business decision.
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: But when it comes to like, you know, getting value
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: in a trade down or something like that, maybe he's
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: you know, got input on that. I don't know.
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: I just we're in a no win scenario talking about this. Yeah,
- 1:16:33Speaker 7: But in all honesty, if I would love to find
- 1:16:38Speaker 7: an owner, ownership, group owner, principal owner that would not
- 1:16:42Speaker 7: be involved with the third overall pick in a draft, right,
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: go find me a team in any of the major
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: sports whose owner isn't in the room for that decision, not.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: Only in the room, but leading up to it, understanding
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: the thinking of their brain trust. Ye, Like, Okay, what
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: are our options if this happens? What our options if
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: that happens, if we trade down? Why you know, understanding
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: what that is? You know, wouldn't you want to know that?
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: It's just the notion that they don't they don't like
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: deserve to be in the room or deserve to have
- 1:17:14Speaker 7: a say in it because they're not football people just
- 1:17:16Speaker 7: rubs me the wrong way because it's like this is
- 1:17:19Speaker 7: all theirs, like they bankrolled this entire thing, everybody. So
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: if you don't want them in the room, then then
- 1:17:25Speaker 7: you don't want any like and that's not gonna work
- 1:17:27Speaker 7: with any ownership, you know, I always I know the
- 1:17:30Speaker 7: Celtics very well too. Do you think when the Celtics
- 1:17:33Speaker 7: make a major trade when they traded Marcus Smart, do
- 1:17:36Speaker 7: you think that Brad Stevens just did it without telling
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: Wick Grossbeck, Hey, I think we're going to trade our
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: longest tenured player off the team.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Though I would say it depends. I mean, I certainly
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: there's a lot of unknown here, Like like Alex said,
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: there's ambiguity on heavily involved, Like if if you're talking
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: to specific.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: If that's why it feels like a headgir line grabbed to.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: Me, like, I mean I would look at it, you know,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: for the Celtics example, like, yeah, they're gonna tell them
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: because they don't want them to read about the trade
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: in the paper. But we're doing it. And to me,
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: the only okay that you would need from ownership if
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: it's sort of done quote unquote right is money. Yeah, Like,
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: if for whatever reason, you're making a trade and it's
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: gonna dramatically impact what Wick and Pat Luca are gonna
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: be doling out, then that they need to be involved
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: in that. But I'm sorry, like, you can't have ownership
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: saying no, no, no, no, you can't trademark your smart he's
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: the longest time you're guy, we have you. No, no, no,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: we can't. Like that's bad ownership.
- 1:18:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't disagree with that piece of it. I
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: just think that people that, oh, why why are they
- 1:18:42Speaker 7: involved at all? They're involved at all because they they
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: owned the team.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: Yes, I mean think.
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: About it this way. They've now been the owner of
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: the team for what thirty years, you know, and they've
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: been in every draft room. Yeah, they're smart people. I
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: mean they're learning, They've learned as they went along as well,
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: Like this isn't like a new thing for them. I
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: would imagine that the first year that Bill was the
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: head coach, they probably had a little bit more input
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: than they did fifteen years after Bill because you know,
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: we don't need to be as but they were still
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: in the room every year for thirty years. I think
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: that experience is worth something. Now you have a new regime,
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: you have a first time head coach. You know, Elliott Wolf.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: You know he's been in you know, personnel positions before,
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: but never as the guy. I would think that their
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: input is valuable. I mean, you've seen thirty drafts. From
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: an ownership standpoint, you know they'll be in the room
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: as they have been for over thirty for thirty years. Now.
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: Are they making the pick? No, but I believe that
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: they probably have input.
- 1:19:53Speaker 7: Yeah. To Paul's point, if they sit there and they say,
- 1:19:57Speaker 7: you know, we're going to take Drake May, and the
- 1:20:00Speaker 7: Craft to say no, you're gonna take JJ McCarthy, and
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: that's a problem.
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: Yeah, they are. We're gonna take Drake May. No, no, no,
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: You're gonna trade down and get those picks. I think
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: that's a problem right.
- 1:20:09Speaker 7: In terms of that sort of meddling that I agree with.
- 1:20:13Speaker 7: But hey, you know, Jonathan Craft says, hey, what are
- 1:20:17Speaker 7: you guys thinking?
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: Why? What's the plan? Tell me why and sell it?
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Sell me on it?
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:20:22Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know why anybody thinks that that
- 1:20:25Speaker 7: doesn't go on an All thirty two right.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: Yeah, to me, that's not heavily involved. And I agree
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: with you that it could be just that and it's
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: and it's just like semantics like, to me, that's just
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: being an owner. I want to be aware of what
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: my team is doing you work for me? You tell me,
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: I don't do things without Matt and Fred knowing what
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: I'm doing.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: I mean, think about it. Wouldn't it be a dereliction
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: of duty if you weren't involved. This could be and
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: should be a you know, a franchise altering picky. You know,
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: so hopefully you're not going to have the third pick
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: next year. Yeah, you know, so you've got to make
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: damn sure that you do it right this year.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: No, But like my point would be if if they're
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: involved in what they're doing specifically, I would say that
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: there's probably some eye rolling with football people, sure, but
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: to have them involved in the room, what you know,
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: whatever you want, Like that's yeah, that's going on in
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: thirty one other NFL suit.
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: I read something from Breer earlier too that literally listed
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: like who will actually have a say in the selection.
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: I don't know if this was a report or if
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: you heard this like directly, but it was drawed Wolf
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: AVP McAdoo, TC McCartney, Alonso Heismith, Pat Stewart, Matt grow
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: and Cam Williams and Jonathan Kraft was not listed.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Just so that E scares me a hell of a
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: lot more than the ownership being involved too many cooks.
- 1:21:48Speaker 7: Yes, I think that's going to be a much smaller list,
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: probably starting today, you know, usually twenty four to forty
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: eight hours out, it's starting today. When we talked to
- 1:21:59Speaker 7: Elliot last week, he said, we're going to get with
- 1:22:02Speaker 7: that group, and then Rod and I are going to
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: get together and we're going to make it dist.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: I'll tell you one thing, Fred, that we're not going
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: to have for a punchline that we've enjoyed for many
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: consecutive years of draft shows. We're not going to make
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: fun of the amount of people that are in a
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: draft room anymore. Because all of those people are going
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: to be in the draft room. I'll guarantee you.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: I think it'll be a bigger draft room. Yeah, yep, yeah.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: Well, now we might not see them all because I
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: don't think that we're going to be like Dallas and
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: some other teams that you know, they welcome the attention,
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: you know, and there's a cast of millions in the
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: in the room and everybody gets up and has a
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: cigar and shakes hands, you know, like they just did something.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember.
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: But we're going to have a lot of people in
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: the draft room.
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: My one time that I was in the draft room
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: for the draft was back when Pete Carroll was the coach,
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: and it was back at the old stadium and we
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: had that that one room and they they almost set
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: it up like classroom style and you all sat at
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: like a desk looking forward, and it was all the
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: coaches and support people and me in the back. And
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: I got permission to sit in the draft room. And
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: I remember that first day. Pete Carroll comes out, he
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: looks around and Robert's with him, and he looks back
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: and he sees me, and I see him, Mallia, what's
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: he doing here? And Robert goes, don't worry about him.
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: But I got to sit in the draft room for
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: the whole thing, and it was it was pretty cool.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: I can't believe you never told me that.
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: No, No, that was back in Pete Carroll's first year
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: was it ninety seven?
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: And then he talked to Robert and said, yeah, next time,
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: I need to be made aware of that.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you're out.
- 1:23:32Speaker 6: So what do you do if like you're in this
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: collaboration effort and everyone's not in the same page.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: There's a lot of yelling, probably worried ya how do
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: you get not ten eleven people to agree.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean it's not up to the three.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: It's up for them to compile the data, give their opinion,
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: and then the guys in charge make them.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: Actually, I don't hope you're right. I don't think it is.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: I think they're all involved.
- 1:23:55Speaker 6: And then what if you get done to like what
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: are they going to do? Your scissors? Like what if
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: you get down to jordd and Elliott and they're like
- 1:24:02Speaker 6: one of them is.
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: Super Elliott has the final say? But like, what did
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: he say last week? He was talking about he said
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: not being stubborn If everybody else is on one thing, like, well,
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: there goes your final say.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: Yeah, like no, but you you your mind has been changed.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: It's up to them if to change his mind.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: No, But like I mean, it's again, it's hard to
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: come up with hypotheticals. But like let's say, let's say
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: that Elliott Wolf is steadfast on Marvin Harrison, Junr yep
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: and pretty much the rest of them saying we got
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: to take a quarterback. So there goes your final say.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: But I would imagine that's already been fleshed out.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: No, I'm just using a hypothetic.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: Okay, but I think that would happen later on.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: Okay, okay, so let's let's do Daniels in May. Then
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: you know, Wolf only wants to take a quarterback if
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: it's Daniels. The others like May just as much. Like
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: that's what again, I would have.
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: I would hope that that's been already hashed out before
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: draft day.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: I hope.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: So who cares when it's fleshed out, They're gonna have
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: the potential to change someone's mind, I know, But I
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: don't like that, and I want someone with conviction. I
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: want someone with the final say to say, yeah, I'm
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: going to take all my input, like Alex explained, yes,
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: and then I'm going to make the choice.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: I don't want them to be talked out of it.
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: No, I agree, and I think that's the way it is.
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: But I think you're talking about the scenario where even
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: after that, it's still me against them. They haven't convinced me, right,
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: is that what you're talking about?
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: Well, Mike, No, the way he kind of said it
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: last week is like, I'm not going to be stubborn
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: about it, right, I want you to be stubborn about it.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I think there's a degree to what he's saying. Yeah,
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: I think there's Are there going to be arguments or
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: have there been? Yes, I'll bet you.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: There's definitely worrying about things that happened.
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: I know, So I don't Well, maybe it has happened.
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: For all we know. They're arguing right now about who
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: should be the second pick, you know, I don't know.
- 1:25:58Speaker 7: I I have confidence that that's that you don't have
- 1:26:01Speaker 7: anything to worry about there because of just the the
- 1:26:05Speaker 7: times that I've gotten to talk to Elliott, I think
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: that he's a lot more sure of himself. Then maybe
- 1:26:12Speaker 7: that would indicate that he could just be swayed by
- 1:26:15Speaker 7: some conversation he randomly has with Cameron Williams.
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: And then the way you put it, I agree, but
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: I'm talking. I'm sure. Excuse me, I'm sure that. I mean,
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: they've had a lot of hours in rooms talking about
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: what potentially could happen and what they're going to do.
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: I have a feeling, and I'm sure it wasn't always amicable.
- 1:26:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I have a feeling that Elliott's known who they're
- 1:26:41Speaker 7: going to take for a while.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that too.
- 1:26:45Speaker 7: Yeah, if they stay, Yeah, if they're sticking and picking.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: If somebody makes them a sweetheart deal, then maybe they
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: could be, you know, coaxed out of that spot.
- 1:26:53Speaker 7: He's got the note in his pocket with you know,
- 1:26:57Speaker 7: Drake mayor or nobody written on it, and I I
- 1:27:00Speaker 7: think I'm not saying it's necessarily one hundred percent Trake
- 1:27:02Speaker 7: may but I think he's known for quite a bit
- 1:27:05Speaker 7: who he's gonna take.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Okay, let's see Paul writes in Uh, he says, where
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: does Evan think Mac would have fallen in this year's draft?
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: If all else was the same?
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: It's a great question.
- 1:27:19Speaker 7: Yeah, Uh, all else was the same, Probably in between
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: Pennix and bo.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: Nicks second round.
- 1:27:29Speaker 7: Oh wow, Okay, I would say, which I don't know,
- 1:27:34Speaker 7: maybe pick twenty to forty, you know, like somewhere in
- 1:27:37Speaker 7: that range.
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: Well, and that's with him winning a national championship.
- 1:27:42Speaker 7: With who Mac? Yeah, if all else was the same
- 1:27:45Speaker 7: and Mac was Mac in twenty twenty one and you
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: put him in this draft, I would say that Pennix
- 1:27:50Speaker 7: I would have graded a little bit higher than him,
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: and probably on the same plane as Bnicks, he says.
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: Paul says, for some reason, I feel like Penix will
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: be our next quarterback. I'm not sure or we will
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: get there, but hopefully as part of the bag. Mm hmm.
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: I wouldn't hate that. You just need to be able
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: to protect him.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: Yeah, what what would would that? Really? That wouldn't surprise
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: you if we ended up with Michael Pennix.
- 1:28:19Speaker 6: Not if you trade it back.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: Yeah, no, obviously you got to trade back to get it.
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: Yeah, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
- 1:28:26Speaker 6: It wouldn't surprise me.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: No, I would be surprised.
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: Would you throw down your I'm out and just walk off?
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: Now? I think if you if you want to trade
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: down and do the tomorrow method, I can be convinced
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: of that. Let's get a really good tackle, let's get
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: a really good wide receiver. If we want to trade
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: down and then we take a quarterback, I don't understand.
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: They just don't, well because in that bag that you're
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: able to get those other things too.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: No, you can't, not if you take a quarterback.
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: No, you're trading down and you're taking a quarterback.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: Right, So but you're taking a quarterback with the first one, right,
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: and so you're not getting your other needs filled any
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: more than you would if you just took one at.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: Three those other but those other picks are higher than
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: they would have been.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Right, No, one pick is higher, the other ones lower.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: You're going from three to eleven in the Minnesota example.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: I mean, I know there are other examples, but you're
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: going from three to eleven, and that pick's lower in
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: twenty three is higher, right, one pick not picks.
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: I feel like Minnesota is going to have to go
- 1:29:25Speaker 6: get another first round pick to then trade up two,
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: three or the Giants or.
- 1:29:31Speaker 7: The Yeah, yeah, they'll trade it from next year. They
- 1:29:36Speaker 7: don't have a second round pick next year, though, which
- 1:29:38Speaker 7: kind of throws a wrench in some things.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: Plus, I just don't see Minnesota doing it. I don't
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: think it's worth it from Minnesota.
- 1:29:46Speaker 7: I think that's that's the the problem is that I
- 1:29:49Speaker 7: think a lot of these teams look at Drake May
- 1:29:51Speaker 7: and JJ and see them on similar planes. And so
- 1:29:55Speaker 7: if you're Minnesota, do you just roll the dice that
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: that that JJ as till eleven?
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean everyone's looking at Minnesota because they need
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: a quarterback and they have two picks in the first round.
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: But what's a wild card? Like, you know, we're all raiders,
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: you know, we're all assuming that, oh, a team has
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: to have two fairly high picks to swing something, but
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: they could also mix in an existing player, right, I think?
- 1:30:20Speaker 7: I think the Raiders. The Raiders are a big one,
- 1:30:23Speaker 7: but they're Jaden Daniels team because of the coach. So
- 1:30:28Speaker 7: if they're not getting Jaden Daniels, someone one of the
- 1:30:32Speaker 7: NFL network guys just tweeted that they tried to call
- 1:30:35Speaker 7: the Commanders to get the second pick to take Jaden,
- 1:30:39Speaker 7: and the Commanders basically hung up the phone.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: And we probably when the emailer wrote in about the
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: podcast from the Athletic with Diana Russini, we probably should
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: have mentioned that that's why he wants to play for
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: the Raiders. It's because he Antonio Pierce's coach.
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: You know it has history with Okay, past five hundred
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: is the ticket hotline. Let's take some phone calls, shall we.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: Eldred is from North Carolina. We haven't been able to
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: take a call in a while. What's up, Eldred?
- 1:31:09Speaker 13: Oh yeah, I could email while I'm driving. How you doing, Tom?
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: What's up?
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: What's up, Biggie Mischief?
- 1:31:16Speaker 13: WELLA disagree with you. The Minnesota they eleven twenty three yep,
- 1:31:25Speaker 13: you got a quarterback, get a wide receiver, and number
- 1:31:28Speaker 13: two you get a you get a tackle. You got
- 1:31:30Speaker 13: your top three field. Mind might not be the top
- 1:31:32Speaker 13: ones you won't, but you got all three needs field.
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but got no, you picked three guys at the positions.
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: You don't have all three needs filled. You have your workout,
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: but it's not really any You have one player that
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: you wouldn't have at twenty three. Yeah, like you don't
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: have it all figured out if you have a lesser quarterback, right,
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: perhaps yeah, perhaps? Yeah, So eleven's not not worse than three.
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, you know there were other
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: people picked ahead of Mahomes, right, he turned out pretty good.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: Penix next, Michael Penix is Mahomes.
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: Now, No, but I'm just saying that now we have
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: a pick at three and thirty four.
- 1:32:23Speaker 7: Six guys went ahead of Tom Brady.
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: Now we would have one at eleven, twenty three and
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: thirty four, correct.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: Yeah, So you're not necessarily feeling all three needs, not necessarily.
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: Right, but dressing all three needs, but.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: No more so than you would at three, thirty four
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: and whatever. The third round pick is like, you're just
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: picking players.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: But that's a big.
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: It's a big, it's a big drop down in why
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: we're getting exactly and now you're adding another drop down
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: in quarterback.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: Yes, you are sacrificing the dropped up but you're getting
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: you know, three top thirty four picks.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: Look, if you think Pennis better than May, then do this.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: I know you do.
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: I know you do.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: You've said this. I mean I feel like, even though
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: you haven't been on the show in a long time,
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: I feel like I've heard you say this eighteen times.
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: I know you like panics, I don't.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: He's sticking to his guns.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: He's a good passer, Like I called him maybe the
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: best draft, the best passer in the draft.
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: That's a good thing to be if you're a quarterback.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Long winding motion doesn't doesn't perform under pressure off platform.
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: I actually wrote this like two weeks ago and talked
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: about it on the Sports Hub, and I had a
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: guy send me one play where he goes and rolls out,
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: throws the ball into like quadruple coverage against USC by
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: the way, and the guy makes the catch in the
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: end zone on a jump ball. I'm like, that's the
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: best you could come up with. That's the best you
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: could come up with for an example of an off
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: platform play by Panix and I and I and I
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: actually found a nice tweet from dian Orlowski today that
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: had the cube BR numbers under pressure. Yeah, and it
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: was like, everybody is really good at it except for one. Yeah,
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: that's that's dropped from like eighty five to forty when
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: you get down to Panix QBR under pressure.
- 1:34:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I would say his biggest weaknesses are accuracy in
- 1:34:16Speaker 7: the short game and handling pressure, like he's a one
- 1:34:19Speaker 7: speed thrower.
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: Well, well, but one of those guys has an eighty
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: nine QBR under pressure and the other guy has a forty.
- 1:34:27Speaker 7: I would not say that Drake May was bad under pressure,
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: but I'm a Drake May guy.
- 1:34:31Speaker 13: Because he moved around. He throws off pat.
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: You kind of have to do that.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: That's under pressure. Yeah, if you see him drop back. Yeah,
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: Drake May's problem is when he has a clean pocket.
- 1:34:44Speaker 7: Yeah, he's I think Drake May is the best in
- 1:34:47Speaker 7: the draft at sitting in the pocket, staring down the
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: barrel knowing he's going to get blown up the pocket.
- 1:34:52Speaker 13: Bro, He's not sitting in the pocket. He's moving, he's running.
- 1:34:55Speaker 13: He's not sitting in the pocket and like that.
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: He don't know what he go with.
- 1:34:58Speaker 13: Did he go off pretform?
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: I so here, I'm sorry his out of pocket, his
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: out of pocket, qbrs and twenty twenty glasses are going on.
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: Jayden Daniels ninety nine, JJ McCarthy ninety six, Drake May
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: eighty nine, Bo Nick's eighty four, Caleb Williams eighty two,
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: and Penix forty. Like so, in other words, five guys
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: are really good under pressure and one's really bad.
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: It's the glass glasses, thanks Aldred.
- 1:35:29Speaker 7: That's when you know. When the glasses come out, you
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: know that you've.
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: No because like, if you want to tell me that, listen,
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: you're underestimating Michael Pennis, I probably am. Yeah, you know,
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: you want to tell me he's such a good passer,
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: he can do this, he can do that. I said that,
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: I don't think he does well off platform, and I
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: get people blonde me like, I don't think that's even
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: a debatable fact.
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: I would agree with that. I think that one of
- 1:35:52Speaker 7: the bigger misconceptions about Penix is that he's super accurate
- 1:35:56Speaker 7: to all three levels. When he's really accurate deep, Yeah,
- 1:36:02Speaker 7: he's one of the best you know him and Drake May,
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: but both of them are very, very good vertical passers.
- 1:36:08Speaker 7: If you're if you're gonna have the receivers that Washington
- 1:36:11Speaker 7: had and you can just bombs away all game long,
- 1:36:13Speaker 7: then Michael Penix is going to be great at that.
- 1:36:15Speaker 7: But he has issues under pressure. And it wasn't just
- 1:36:18Speaker 7: the Michigan game, Like if you pulled up his pressure dropbacks,
- 1:36:21Speaker 7: it happens throughout the entire season. It just happened on
- 1:36:24Speaker 7: a bigger scale against Michigan, So everybody pulls it out
- 1:36:27Speaker 7: against Michigan. I like Penis. I like him better than
- 1:36:30Speaker 7: McCarthy because he's he's is a really good natural thrower
- 1:36:35Speaker 7: in terms of just arm talent, velocity, but he's he's
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: got to learn to to throw some change ups every
- 1:36:42Speaker 7: once in a while. That would be my only nitpick
- 1:36:44Speaker 7: with the way he throws the ball.
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: Are we sold on the Cardinals keeping Kyler? Yes, Like
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: they wouldn't take your quarterback at four?
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: I don't think so. I mean you would have heard
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: something about that, but you never know. They could be
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: the trade spot, or they could be hiding their cards.
- 1:37:03Speaker 6: Or the Chargers.
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: Yeah, are they going to keep Chargers?
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: Is definitely not trade, not drafting a quarterback.
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: Yeah, Harbor pulls a fast one and if if well,
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: but if they did, then they would have to trade
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: Herbert and then that team's not going to draft a quarterback, right,
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: So either way.
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: I'm interested to see what the blackbuster is going to
- 1:37:22Speaker 6: be on Thursday, like someone being like, yeah, I.
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: Don't think it's going to be anything because I don't
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: think anybody covets these guys. I don't think that anybody
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: likes these guys enough to go from eleven to three.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: You're talking about quarterbacks and specific yeah, yeah.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: I mean I think for Caleb Williams, they do it
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: like last year.
- 1:37:40Speaker 7: Carolina.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: Carolina did it because they liked the guy enough to
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: do it. I don't think that Caleb Williams is the
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: only guy like that. And it doesn't seem like Chicago's interested.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: Yeah, it's interesting. I feel like looking at the draft
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: order that Minnesota might not have to even trade up
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: to get to get JJ. I don't as long as like,
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: as long as the Giants don't draft a quarterback, I
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: feel like they're gonna be fun.
- 1:38:02Speaker 7: You have to look at the teams after the Vikings
- 1:38:06Speaker 7: correct that could get up and the Raiders Denver, Denver,
- 1:38:10Speaker 7: New Orleans correct like those So that's I think the Rams.
- 1:38:15Speaker 7: If you're a team like Atlanta in particular, I think
- 1:38:19Speaker 7: that JJ is going with the Atlanta pick, like whoever
- 1:38:22Speaker 7: ends up, because what's gonna happen is someone who's gonna
- 1:38:25Speaker 7: try to jump the line with Minnesota waiting at eleven.
- 1:38:29Speaker 7: So is Minnesota gonna jump the line first and just
- 1:38:33Speaker 7: trade up and make sure that they get their guy?
- 1:38:36Speaker 7: Or what a team like the Raiders, a team like
- 1:38:38Speaker 7: the Broncos, would they try to jump over Minnesota knowing
- 1:38:41Speaker 7: at eleven that's his floor, he's gonna be at a
- 1:38:43Speaker 7: team by eleven.
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: That's the eleven to nineteen is like, I think it's
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: like seven of those teams are gonna be strongly interested
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: in quarterbacks. That's where the draft starts. Does one of
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: those teams do what Evan said and jump the line.
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: And that's why it's so scary to even consider moving
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: down because it's like, yeah, hypethetically, on paper, a great idea,
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: you can fill more needs, but it's like can you
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: fill those knees? One trade happens and then it's not
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: like the whole draft goes on as it was going
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: to go on, like everything changes.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all a butterfly of fact.
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: You don't know how that's going to change minds of
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: other teams and who they're going to go after.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: It's just when you trade down, you have to have
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: contingency plans ready to.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: Go well, and that's kind of what I'm talking about
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: with trading down and then just saying, well, we're going
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: to just take panics. Well, what if he's not available?
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: What if Evans scenario happens?
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: What if the guard you wanted is gone? Now it
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: was all for nothing?
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: Yeah? Wow, Okay, what do you think the big story
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: will be coming out of the first round?
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: You know, a record number of offensive players would be chosen? Okay,
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: I do think nineteen is the record.
- 1:39:46Speaker 7: I think there's a chance that there's nine in a
- 1:39:50Speaker 7: row to start the draft.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to do well, you know an email?
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: Will you send it around and we all have to
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: answer what our draft stories are going.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: To usually a Douce product, but I can. I can
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: effort that tomorrow if you'd like, you want me to
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: do that, yeah, you know, yeah, I don't want to
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: step on Duce's toes.
- 1:40:08Speaker 6: He's he's in calf the is the first defensive player
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: going to be from the corner?
- 1:40:16Speaker 7: I feel like like Quinon Mitchell, Yes, No, I think
- 1:40:19Speaker 7: it'll be Dallas Turner. But where I don't know, Like
- 1:40:25Speaker 7: he could go to Atlanta if nobody takes Atlanta's pick,
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: like I guess he could, that would probably be the
- 1:40:31Speaker 7: first defensive guy. But if that's a quarterback spot ends
- 1:40:35Speaker 7: up being a quarterback spot, then I don't know where
- 1:40:38Speaker 7: Dallas Turner's You know, when the first defensive guys, it's
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: either going to be him, I would think, or Terry
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: On Arnold from also from Alabama.
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: Travis in West Virginia wants to know, do you plan
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: on tipping the picks on Thursday night in order to
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: appeal to the fourteen year old girls on social media
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: and thereby annoying middle aged men like me. That's a
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: fred carl Rick used to like tipping the picks right,
- 1:41:03Speaker 4: and then he would get mad when people got mad
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: at him.
- 1:41:07Speaker 7: I was, what do you mean we're not allowed to
- 1:41:09Speaker 7: tip the picks? I'm confused?
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: Well, no, like you see him on on Twitter? Well,
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: like like on Twitter.
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: All the Jeff Howe was notorious. He would find out
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: the pick.
- 1:41:20Speaker 7: I was I was right. I thought you meant that
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: Eric was Jeff how in this instance? And I was like,
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: we're allowed to do that.
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: The picks come out on Twitter and then we say, okay,
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: the pick is in. Yeah it's Alex. She went with
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: the fourth overall pick. Congrats to Alex and her brand.
- 1:41:36Speaker 7: Yes, I understand. I go back and forth on tip.
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: Went fifth, So don't be too upset about it. Four
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: or five could have gone either way. They're looking at
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: me like, what, how was he going?
- 1:41:51Speaker 7: I think it's silly if you have the not not internally,
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: like if if it's on Twitter, right and the information
- 1:41:57Speaker 7: is out there, to sit there and wait for TV
- 1:42:00Speaker 7: is kind of crazy.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: Now, we do not do that with the Patriots pick
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: until it's on because we do find out about the
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: Patriots pick a little bit before even Twitter knows about it,
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: and we don't say that until it's out there.
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:42:12Speaker 7: It's very easy. It's a there's a pick line, right,
- 1:42:15Speaker 7: There's a there's a literal phone line that every all
- 1:42:19Speaker 7: thirty two teams in the league are on and if
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: you just get you can dial into the number. That's
- 1:42:25Speaker 7: how all these reporters do it. It's not that they're
- 1:42:28Speaker 7: texting each individual team and asking, oh, who did you take?
- 1:42:31Speaker 8: Or did you take?
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: No, there's a pick line that's like, you know, usually
- 1:42:34Speaker 7: I don't know, four or five minutes sometimes ahead of TV,
- 1:42:38Speaker 7: and the pick just goes over the pick line. You know,
- 1:42:41Speaker 7: the Patriots picked Drake May now the you know, the
- 1:42:43Speaker 7: Falcon or the Cardinals picked Marvin Harrison can tap into that.
- 1:42:48Speaker 7: They're not supposed to. I mean, technically no. But when
- 1:42:51Speaker 7: I worked at NFL Network, I was on the pick line.
- 1:42:56Speaker 7: So it's it's so kind.
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: I was.
- 1:42:58Speaker 7: I was on the recent I was researcher on the
- 1:43:00Speaker 7: desk on the show.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: So I had heard there is I think Jeff Howe
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: it has been attributed to this that he had a
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: good friend who worked in production at ESPN who used
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: to correct text them all the pictures.
- 1:43:14Speaker 7: Yeah, that's how I used to know.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: I don't think that's fair, you know, I mean, I
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: think everyone should find it.
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: It just doesn't matter that much either, Like I don't know, like,
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: are you filing a story that quickly before everyone?
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: And are you no? Like you get to tweet.
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: Him that way, for sure, but get to the fans,
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: you all want to hear about it at the same time,
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: you know, and get that sort of community reaction.
- 1:43:39Speaker 7: I just think it's silly for us, like on the
- 1:43:42Speaker 7: on Thursday night and we're sitting there on the show
- 1:43:44Speaker 7: to act like surprised or to like, oh, you know, Paul,
- 1:43:48Speaker 7: like they could do. What are they going to do
- 1:43:50Speaker 7: here when we've known for three minutes what they actually
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: did because Albert tweeted it out, like what do we now?
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: We're just play it when we see it on Twitter.
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: We'll usually say it yeah, and we'll to answer the
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: email is question. We'll continue to do that.
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: Yep. Let's go to William and fill him. What's up? Willem?
- 1:44:11Speaker 14: Thanks Ford, How you doing all right?
- 1:44:14Speaker 15: Okay?
- 1:44:15Speaker 14: I want to say also high to the Queen Tamara,
- 1:44:20Speaker 14: how you're doing all right? I have that I haven't
- 1:44:25Speaker 14: called or anything. I just watched or just listening basically
- 1:44:29Speaker 14: to a lot of podcasts and everything from Free Agency
- 1:44:33Speaker 14: already up to now, and I'm trying a little pissed
- 1:44:37Speaker 14: off about it. You know, they better get cute with
- 1:44:43Speaker 14: that pick. That's all I got to say. They better
- 1:44:45Speaker 14: not get cute with.
- 1:44:46Speaker 15: Just take Jaydon James or Drake Man it's not that
- 1:44:50Speaker 15: hard to figure out. Just take one of them, whoever
- 1:44:53Speaker 15: fall to you take that, okay, and and just last
- 1:44:58Speaker 15: and not least his last.
- 1:45:00Speaker 16: Tickets for Evan, Yes, sir, Evan.
- 1:45:02Speaker 15: You was at the at the Countbown and pro day.
- 1:45:06Speaker 11: Correct.
- 1:45:06Speaker 15: I was, okay, So you seem about just about.
- 1:45:11Speaker 7: Every receiver, right, that's the truth.
- 1:45:15Speaker 16: Yes, okay, So there's one receiver I haven't heard you
- 1:45:19Speaker 16: or Alex Bart talk about. So there's two Hall of
- 1:45:22Speaker 16: Fame's Hall of Famer wide receiver sons that city, which
- 1:45:27Speaker 16: is mar Harrison Junior and Brandon Rice.
- 1:45:30Speaker 15: Correct, Yep, what happened to uh Tarbee Golwens Terrell owens son.
- 1:45:39Speaker 7: As far as I know, not in the draft.
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: He's really he's available though, right you mean he's not
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: going to get drafted?
- 1:45:47Speaker 7: Yeah, okay, Yeah, I would not consider him on the
- 1:45:52Speaker 7: NFL radar very much.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: I saw John Lynch talked about him, I think a
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: little bit yesterday. He says, because thanks Willam Lynch had
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: an I meant that he I think it was Lynch
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: in San Francisco. He believes in bloodlines, and he talked
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: about all of them, and he mentioned, yeah, Owens his son.
- 1:46:08Speaker 7: To I mean another guy, Luke McCaffrey.
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it was definitely San Francisco because that's the tweet
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: that I read McCaffrey.
- 1:46:15Speaker 7: I would say Luke McCaffrey is probably the if I
- 1:46:17Speaker 7: had to say the one receiver that I feel like
- 1:46:19Speaker 7: I haven't talked about enough. Trust me, I've talked about
- 1:46:22Speaker 7: all these guys way too much. I would say it'd
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: probably be Luke McCaffrey, who's Christian McCaffrey's brother.
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: Right, but he's like mid draft, probably like a.
- 1:46:30Speaker 7: Fifth or six round pick. Yeah, but he can play good.
- 1:46:33Speaker 7: Senior Bowl Week.
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: Spian Fresno says Evan, if Fred's back of the napkin
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: slash envelope projections end up being more accurate than yours,
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: will you reconsider what you're doing with your life? Can
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: we turn into this in actual Evan versus Fred competition
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: this weekend? I'm team Fred?
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: Can we set up a competition? How do we do that?
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: But them both?
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: Just to be clear, these aren't necessarily people the Patriots will.
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: Pick, right, That's what I'm saying. We can't set up
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: See if we could set up some sort of competition.
- 1:47:02Speaker 6: Wait, that would be cool. If we all made our
- 1:47:04Speaker 6: own mocks and had to turn them in.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: I'm not doing it.
- 1:47:07Speaker 7: I'm done with mox.
- 1:47:08Speaker 6: What if we do want we should do? We well,
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: I mean just a Patriots one, like what we're gonna do?
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: We should and turn them in or post on envelopes.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: They should be like post on a piece of paper.
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: Behind us on air and like you know, I should
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: say envelopes. Yeah, you guys, most I think we should do.
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: That because you only need have you.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: Mean, guys, I have drake Man. That's it. I have
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: Drake Man.
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: Paul's board is going to be picked three man.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: That's an extent of my draft prep.
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: Don't tell yourself you had some names on the draft
- 1:47:48Speaker 7: shows no information?
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: What do you think this is?
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: Fred?
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: He's information laze the wood.
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: That right, there is more And I'm not lying and
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: I'm not trying to be self detricading. That's more than
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: I have.
- 1:48:02Speaker 7: Okay, first of all, he has notes and I'm not
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: trying to make fun of you or anything like that,
- 1:48:06Speaker 7: but Dane Brugler is the one that did the heavy
- 1:48:08Speaker 7: lifting on those notes, let's face it. Yeah, and he
- 1:48:11Speaker 7: and I'm not saying that that's a bad thing because
- 1:48:12Speaker 7: Dane Brugler rocks.
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: But I'm just saying, where did you even get that?
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: I don't know where he got that.
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: I've been getting marlats for years and they have the
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: number one prospect.
- 1:48:24Speaker 7: I think they have Jaden Daniels, don't they Yeah, yeah.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: They don't even have Caleb Williams.
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: There's a surprise.
- 1:48:29Speaker 7: I've been reading the guy who goes number one, number one.
- 1:48:32Speaker 7: I've been reading draft guys my whole life, since I
- 1:48:35Speaker 7: was a little kid. The Beast is the most extensive
- 1:48:38Speaker 7: one I've ever seen, just in terms of injury history,
- 1:48:43Speaker 7: any sort of off field red flags. Obviously, you know strength,
- 1:48:46Speaker 7: and you know scouting strengths and weaknesses. You know quotes
- 1:48:49Speaker 7: from anonymous sources like it. Just that thing is as
- 1:48:54Speaker 7: comprehensive as you'll find.
- 1:48:55Speaker 6: When I picture Evan saying he has read those his
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: entire life, I'm picturing like your dad, like reading them
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: to you to go to bed, like, instead of bringing
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: like a little cute like my children's I'm reading that.
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: It started more with fantasy football, to be honest with you,
- 1:49:10Speaker 7: because I mean, as like an eight year old, I'm
- 1:49:11Speaker 7: not necessarily into the draft, but I would say I
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: started reading draft guides at probably like twelve or thirteen.
- 1:49:18Speaker 4: Do you remember, Like you guys are probably too young,
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: but they used to have these like cloth books for
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: like really little kids. Yeah, so you didn't get paper cuts.
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: Like I can see Evan having like these cloth draft
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: guys and like, you know, like there's spittle on it
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: because you know, he's like two years old and it's
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: just a mass replacement.
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: His first ABC book was like ABC's of NFL.
- 1:49:39Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, you're not wrong.
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: I can't the building blocks have like players' names on literally.
- 1:49:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I can't even argue.
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: Sure these are.
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: Facts, Dylan and Nashville, says Fred. I'm watching YouTube live.
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: Thanks for writing your back of the envelope list on
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: the back of a printed piece of paper. That made
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: me f list is amazing. You can tell Evan watched
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: every one of these guys games.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: You can. Oh, there was one that I think he
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: caught you.
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: Yeah, whoever the a linebacker?
- 1:50:11Speaker 6: Linebacker? Ohio State?
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: Oh Steel Chambers.
- 1:50:14Speaker 7: Yeah, now I'm gonna have to go watch Steel Chambers tonight.
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: Ohio.
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: I don't think you like what a name?
- 1:50:20Speaker 7: No, I actually did I think out of all the
- 1:50:23Speaker 7: positions besides maybe guard, guard and off ball linebacker the
- 1:50:27Speaker 7: two spots that I would be blown away if they
- 1:50:30Speaker 7: use a pick before you know, a flyer in the
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: six or seventh round. So I actually did just finish
- 1:50:37Speaker 7: up like the top of the linebacker class this year,
- 1:50:39Speaker 7: which is not very good. So Steel Chambers defense.
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: Could there be a chance for all eight picks or
- 1:50:44Speaker 6: offense for the Patriots?
- 1:50:47Speaker 7: I still think eight. I think there's I think there's
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: some dart throws at the end of the draft.
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: There's a chance for that, whereas there's not a chance
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: the other way in my opinion. Yeah, I mean probably not,
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: but I think there's definitely not gonna be all late
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: on defense, edge.
- 1:51:01Speaker 7: Rusher, world safety. Like, I still think that there's some
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: places on defense that if you have a draftable grade
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: on somebody in the sixth or seventh round and you know,
- 1:51:10Speaker 7: if you pass rusher or something like that, I think
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: that they would do that.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: As as people are veterans of the show, No, we'll
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: be live from the draft party here at a Lets
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: Stadium on Thursday. Nolan from California has a question, if
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: you could build your ultimate draft party room, what would
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: it be? You could watch any venue, food, you could
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: watch with anyone. What would your ultimate draft party room.
- 1:51:31Speaker 7: Look like the Patriots were them inside, it is inside yeah, yeah, you'd.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: Be eating while they're picking.
- 1:51:38Speaker 7: And no no food, just.
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: Yea chain smoke.
- 1:51:43Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: I think what the Patriots do and what most teams
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: do is pretty cool. You know, they've got they've got
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: the big, huge screens, and then after each pick they
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: bring out, you know, the notable people.
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: I'm always interested in, like what the actual draft board
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: was after the fact, but the draft itself.
- 1:52:04Speaker 6: I don't know why I said, you know football when
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: Evan said draft.
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: Have you seen you?
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: Yeah, like you know the little clear cage that the
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: person was kept in and the second one season, Yes,
- 1:52:19Speaker 6: so the drafto will be in there. And then so
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: people no, because you can see through.
- 1:52:22Speaker 7: The like fishbowl, so yes, like them in the middle.
- 1:52:25Speaker 7: And then but can I hear no? So then I
- 1:52:30Speaker 7: want to do what Fred did with Pete Carroll.
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: In the War.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: You should join the video team.
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 1:52:35Speaker 7: No, I want to be able to report on what
- 1:52:37Speaker 7: I hear there.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they're just in and out.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: I have to go back to the Patriots Football Weekly
- 1:52:44Speaker 4: in which I wrote that.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: Report from being in the Wars before me.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: Yeah, with Pete Carroll.
- 1:52:50Speaker 7: I just love you know, like last year the Cardinals
- 1:52:52Speaker 7: had a camera on Manty Austin for it when he
- 1:52:55Speaker 7: was like trading up and down the board and that
- 1:52:57Speaker 7: stuff is crazy, Like he just just he was on
- 1:53:00Speaker 7: you know, like that type of stuff. I just think
- 1:53:02Speaker 7: it's really cool.
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: I just remember we're talking about this before we went
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: on air. I forget. But anyway, back in ninety seven
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: Peaks first year, I got an opportunity to sit in
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: the war room.
- 1:53:12Speaker 7: Yeah, that was on air.
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: That was on air, Yeah, and I just I remember
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: he comes out with craft and Pete looks at.
- 1:53:20Speaker 7: Miss like, who's that We told this exactly?
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: Sometimes it's okay, well you never know. Times you had
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: just heard it today for the first.
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: Time, and plus the audience changes out.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: I don't know how radio you know, from being a radio.
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: Some people were listening earlier, they just finished lunch and
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: now there checking in friends.
- 1:53:44Speaker 7: His his back of the envelope made me think of
- 1:53:46Speaker 7: the Felgrim as big board that's going on these last
- 1:53:49Speaker 7: couple of weeks. And I'm not allowed to talk smack
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: about it because they give Barth opportunities to talk on
- 1:53:54Speaker 7: air on it, But I mean talk about a waste
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: of time.
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: A lot of times the guys that they end.
- 1:54:02Speaker 7: Up hitting but they don't understand. I told him I
- 1:54:06Speaker 7: wasn't gonna do it. So that's okay, Okay, we'll talk
- 1:54:08Speaker 7: about later.
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: Okay, off off the Yeah. Uh Daniels in Tampa? What's up? Daniel, Daniel?
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: You guys doing good? What you guys?
- 1:54:19Speaker 14: Donovan Jenny who I read to hear them for me?
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: Five?
- 1:54:26Speaker 16: Guy?
- 1:54:28Speaker 7: I don't know who he's talking?
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: Are we talking about? I only heard Donovan, Donovan Jennings,
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: Donovan Van Jennings.
- 1:54:36Speaker 7: Not not really super familiar with him.
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: Now what school is he from?
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: US?
- 1:54:42Speaker 7: The US University of South Florida, I mean Jovon Baker,
- 1:54:47Speaker 7: Donovan Jennings, John Baker.
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: I've heard.
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: It says the Patriot toasted USF offensive tackle Donovan Jennings
- 1:54:56Speaker 6: only official visit that was fifteenth.
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: Okay, well we're talking about forty times?
- 1:55:01Speaker 7: Oh okay, yeah, I mean he might have ran a
- 1:55:03Speaker 7: past forty times.
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:55:06Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm not super familiar with him, and I I
- 1:55:10Speaker 7: have about twenty tackles that I've watched film on. So
- 1:55:13Speaker 7: the fact that he's not one of them does not
- 1:55:15Speaker 7: bode well for him getting drafted.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: But I thought we were talking about receivers.
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: Are you Are you related to him, Daniel, because you're
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: calling from Tampa right us.
- 1:55:28Speaker 13: F No, No, but my wife was.
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: Okay, I went to Tampa for a couple of years.
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: So all right, all right, thanks for the call, Daniel.
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: I mean that's tough. He had all the way down
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: there where even Evan didn't watch the tape for that guy.
- 1:55:47Speaker 7: Nope, nope. Like I said, I think I've I did
- 1:55:51Speaker 7: twenty tackles in this draft, so that goes pretty all right.
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: Well, before we get too far towards the end here,
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: just want to remind everybody we will be live at
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: the draft at the GPA Trim here at the stadium.
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: They have the big Draft party. It's so big now
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: it takes over the Gpatrium and the club, the Putnam
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: Club where it used to be just in the Putnam Club.
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: This spillover now. So we'll be live starting at seven
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: thirty on Thursday night and live throughout the draft. Unlike
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: all other years, this year will be live video on
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: Patriots dot Com and the Patriots app from seven to
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: thirty until the end of the first round. That's the
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: first time we've ever done live video all night on social.
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: Right around eight thirty or so, we'll go live video
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: on social on all the various channels. So we'll capture
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: that first pick, assuming that they stay put, we'll capture
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: that live on Social as well. But if you're on
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: patriots dot com, just stick with Patriots dot com the
- 1:56:55Speaker 4: whole night and that's where we'll be.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: So that is where we'll be.
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: It's exciting.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: Unfortunately that deprives you of the full Paul because we're
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: on videos.
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: That's kind of like the full Monty.
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I gotta be toned down on video.
- 1:57:09Speaker 6: I'm looking forward to the la lens on video?
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: What lens lens? Yeah?
- 1:57:15Speaker 7: Yeah, getting nervous.
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: Okay, have you thought about your outfits yet? Anybody?
- 1:57:21Speaker 7: I didn't think about it briefly?
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Oh well, what do we have a dress code?
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: No?
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: Then no, okay, big night, we don't.
- 1:57:28Speaker 7: You don't want to come in on your every day clothes?
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: You want to know? Yeah, right now I'm coming in
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: my every day close right now. Okay, what's arguing this?
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: And that? A big, big night on TV.
- 1:57:45Speaker 6: It's a big night.
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: I know we're on TV. But it's it's you know,
- 1:57:47Speaker 4: more of a festive.
- 1:57:49Speaker 6: You know, it would be like four K camera.
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: It's a I want to be the organization, one of
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: the prospects suits that they wear with like all.
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: Do and perk.
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: If this is an all males show, I'd have a
- 1:58:07Speaker 4: good comment now by it being a tenth pole event.
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: But anyway, I had to get it in there.
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: I had to get it, didja?
- 1:58:17Speaker 4: All right? That's going to do it for this edition
- 1:58:19Speaker 4: of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:58:20Speaker 7: Tomorrow we have draft countdowns Draft.
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: Countdown at noon, then we have John Rook at two
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: with the Patriots Playbook, and then of course Thursday we'll
- 1:58:30Speaker 4: be live at seven thirty before the draft. So we'll
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: see you then. Very exciting. Can't wait.
