- 0:00Hello and welcome to another episode of the Christian Reef
- 0:03podcast. Today's guest is all about going
- 0:07to the gym. I still at this point of
- 0:09recording, haven't decided what it will be called, whether it be
- 0:12called Jim or starting out at the gym or at a, my experience
- 0:16at the gym. I don't know.
- 0:18But there was a lot of things I wanted to cover about Jim.
- 0:21And most of it is really, really positive in terms of my own
- 0:25personal transformation over the last seven months.
- 0:30What? I get out of it, what I've seen,
- 0:31what I've experienced the kind of Good Vibes that I see
- 0:35whenever I go into the gym. There's a lot of things that I
- 0:37wanted to cover in this show. And there's also some
- 0:41unfortunate things, some things that aren't so pleasant about
- 0:45the gym and I'll be sharing some of reddit's thoughts because as
- 0:49you know every time I do a podcast or content for my
- 0:52patreon I'll always ask the people have read it and ask
- 0:56people online and sort of gather responses and again Sort of an
- 1:00idea of what other people think and what other people's
- 1:03experiences are. And some of them were pretty
- 1:06wild, but I want to start with a quote, because I think this sort
- 1:11of sums it up quite well. As far as starting out of the
- 1:13gym, it takes 21 days to start a habit and 90 days to create a
- 1:20lifestyle. And that's something I want to
- 1:23lead with, with this particular podcast.
- 1:25Because If you're going to go to the gym, if you're going to work
- 1:28out or do any kind of Fitness in your life, it needs to be part
- 1:33of your life, it needs to be part of your lifestyle.
- 1:36It's not enough to just do it here and there, you know,
- 1:40sporadically like the key with working out and, you know,
- 1:43getting fit is consistency but you've got to Consistently do
- 1:48it, right? So it's got to be part of your
- 1:51life and look. Sometimes you just don't want to
- 1:54do it. And ironically, and I've said
- 1:57this to friends of mine that go to the gym those sessions where
- 2:01you really don't want to go tend to be the best sessions that you
- 2:04have, because they tend to kind of make you get the most out of
- 2:09you. You get more out of You by going
- 2:12and doing those sessions and I think A lot of going to the gym
- 2:16is is kind of proving something to yourself.
- 2:19It's like you versus you. Some days are harder some days,
- 2:22it easier. It's always hard.
- 2:24It's always going to be something that pushes you.
- 2:28It's always going to be something that, you know, can
- 2:32get can get the best, you all the worst of you but it will get
- 2:34something out of you. And I feel like obviously the
- 2:38best kind of indicator of whether or not you're doing
- 2:41well, is obviously the progress that you make but it doesn't
- 2:44come. Right away and I feel like Jim
- 2:48offers so many life metaphors. Like for instance, even just the
- 2:52fact that it takes a while to achieve your fitness goals, you
- 2:55don't see the results instantly, it takes some time.
- 2:58That's a great metaphor for what life is like, because a lot of
- 3:02things in life are not instant and, you know, we live in an
- 3:07instant gratification culture. Now, everything is
- 3:09instantaneous, we can get anything by the click of a
- 3:12finger by just tapping. Something on a An app or a
- 3:15computer. You know, we get things really
- 3:17really quickly now but that still doesn't change the fact
- 3:20that there is so much in life that requires you to be patient
- 3:24and wait and see it through. And Jim is the best example of
- 3:29that. And I think that for me, you
- 3:32know, my approach to the gym has changed over the course of the
- 3:36last seven months, so I basically to catch you up.
- 3:41I used to go to gym pretty solidly.
- 3:44I would Say somewhere, mid 2018 to the end of 2019, something
- 3:49like that. I basically went for a year and
- 3:50a half when I used to live in Estonia.
- 3:53And when I look back at what my workout schedule was back, then
- 3:57it was okay, I wasn't paying much attention to my diet, which
- 4:01is a real, big part of Jim in. I used to just eat anything and
- 4:06just I thought by eating a lot that would work but you know, it
- 4:10really depends on what you're eating.
- 4:13You ready go get the most out of your food as well as your
- 4:16workouts and you know back then I hadn't really figured out what
- 4:21my goals were I guess I was just kind of like hmm I should do
- 4:24this. I should go to the gym and just
- 4:26kind of get fit, right? But I think you need some
- 4:31short-term goals and some long-term goals when it comes to
- 4:33going to the gym. You need a kind of a clear.
- 4:36Structure. And I find that structure is
- 4:40such a big theme in my life, with everything that I do.
- 4:43Everything I do is planning now, especially since I have a lot
- 4:46less time because of, you know, having to work in an in customer
- 4:49service and working unspeakable hours.
- 4:53Sometimes, you know, it means that you have less time and
- 4:56that's inevitably impacted my gym time as well.
- 4:58So everything has to be kind of planned out but by doing that I
- 5:03feel like you do get a lot more from the sessions.
- 5:06And when I Compare where I used to be with Jim and where I'm at.
- 5:09Now, it's like night and day to give you a bit of a rundown of
- 5:13what I used to do. It was basically just like, I
- 5:16would go in and not dissimilar to what I do now.
- 5:20I would, I would warm up warm down, always warm up and warm
- 5:23down, always do that. But then, I would go and, like,
- 5:26NACA myself out on like the treadmill or, you know, I do
- 5:32cycling, but I do it for like, 15, 20 minutes.
- 5:36And so, I'd be knackered. And then, I'd have to be like
- 5:39the rest of my workout, like, weights and whatever.
- 5:41And I'd, I used to, basically think that intensive training
- 5:44was key, like, I would just do 5, 10, 15 minutes, each on
- 5:49different things and then switch around.
- 5:50So be like cardio, weights, cardio, weights cardio, weights
- 5:53for like an hour and a half or something and there was
- 5:56progress. There's photos that I have from
- 5:58back then where I could see, you know, some definition muscle
- 6:02definition arms and everything but it was pretty ineffective
- 6:06and I think a Out of that came down to diet, but I'd say, the
- 6:09bigger problem was, basically that I hadn't really thought
- 6:12about what I was doing in the gym.
- 6:14I haven't really researched and asked anybody and that's a big
- 6:17problem. You need to do that, you need to
- 6:19do your research, just like with anything else.
- 6:22I mean recently, I've had a friend shout out to Lewis,
- 6:24you'll never hear this or see this but shout out anyway and
- 6:28he's really into his Fitness and he's very good at and I told him
- 6:33what my current workout regime was and he was Just like, hmm.
- 6:38You seem to be missing all of these different muscle groups
- 6:41that why are you not doing this. And then he sort of told me the
- 6:44problems with what my current work out would be in terms of
- 6:50like the future. So my workout regime for like
- 6:55the last five or six months was basically.
- 6:58And this was completely different from what I used to do
- 7:00in the gym, I would go in and my so I start with my goal and then
- 7:05I'll run through. My workout regime.
- 7:07So the goal was to just lose weight and you know I wanted to
- 7:11lose weight here. Here I'd really let myself go
- 7:13during lockdown. I wasn't gyming obviously the
- 7:16gym is closed and then when they reopened I just never really
- 7:21Could be bothered to get back in there because once you fall off,
- 7:24it's very difficult to get back into it, you know, and as I said
- 7:27at the beginning of this, you know, takes 21 days to form a
- 7:30habit. But, you know, takes much more
- 7:32to make it into a lifestyle. It's You know, whenever I tell
- 7:37people or encourage people to go to the gym, it's not something
- 7:42that I take lightly. I know it's just not as simple
- 7:44as like, oh, you just go and that's it.
- 7:46Like its it takes a lot of mental strength to keep going
- 7:51especially when you're just tired.
- 7:53Like maybe you come home from work and you're exhausted.
- 7:56And now you got to do a gym session or it's your day off and
- 7:58you just want to relax. You know, it takes a lot and,
- 8:02you know, even seven months later, there are days when I
- 8:04don't want to go but You just got it like push yourself to go.
- 8:08You really do but you don't have to go like every and here's the
- 8:13thing as well and I'll get back to the goals and everything.
- 8:16But like one thing I want to add is that I think It, there's a
- 8:20lot of people that see in the gym and I'm guilty of this to
- 8:23wear when you're not informed and you don't know what you're
- 8:26doing, you kind of just make these crazy decisions.
- 8:29Like, I meant what I said earlier about, you know, doing
- 8:31like half an hour on the on the bike or 50 minutes on the bike
- 8:34and an actor and myself out, ideally, you want to kind of
- 8:38conserve your energy throughout the workout in order to use it
- 8:41steadily throughout the workout. So by the end of it, you know,
- 8:45you're getting the last bits of whatever energy you've got for
- 8:48the workout. Out, but you're not completely
- 8:50exhausted. Because obviously, if you're
- 8:53completely exhausted at the beginning, then you're just
- 8:55going to have no energy and you basically can't really do much,
- 8:59so it's kind of illogical to do it that way.
- 9:01But if no one tells you and you don't know, you don't do your
- 9:04research, then how will you ever know and you're just not going
- 9:06to make any progress and I think that's the key.
- 9:09You want to see that progress and I think Sometimes in the
- 9:13beginning, when someone doesn't see progress after like a month
- 9:16or two generally, they will give up so below our, this is not
- 9:19working and it's like, it's not working because your Technique
- 9:23is not quite there that it needs to be something needs to be
- 9:25switched up. And another thing about Jim,
- 9:28just final before I start talking about my current or my
- 9:31switched up regime in the last six to eight months, is that at
- 9:36the end of the day, when you're figuring out how to do your
- 9:42workouts, you've got, you've got a kind of like break it down in
- 9:49terms of what actually works for you.
- 9:53Because what works for you might not work for another person.
- 9:58Just because this person is doing things this way, doesn't
- 10:00mean it will work for you, our genetics are different, our
- 10:03bodies react differently to things, even dieting and and,
- 10:07and the meals and you know, for example, I never eat breakfast.
- 10:11Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but if I eat
- 10:14breakfast I get super tired. Doesn't matter what it is.
- 10:17Even if it's something slow-release like eating
- 10:19porridge or something, it just does nothing for me.
- 10:22Our what'll happen is I'll have a breakfast at like 7:00 or 8:00
- 10:25a.m. and then I'll feel really natural.
- 10:28Bye-bye 1112, which I just think is pointless.
- 10:31So, I just load up on coffee and I'm not advising this.
- 10:33This is just for me, this won't work for other people, but I
- 10:37load up on coffee, that keeps me going and then by lunchtime
- 10:40that's when I have like a big meal.
- 10:41Ideally lately. It's not been like that because
- 10:46I've just been working so much. So I've been skipping meals and
- 10:49stuff and it's really, really bad.
- 10:50And I'm starting to notice that too.
- 10:52Because I've started losing more weight than I wanted with lose
- 10:56the we move. Right.
- 10:58Anyway, that's something really important to consider.
- 11:02I think is just like the impact on your body, trying things
- 11:07other people advice because that works for them, but that might
- 11:10not work for you. Anyway, my regime, my goal as I
- 11:16said before was to just cut weight, get a bit toned and then
- 11:20kind of see where we go from there.
- 11:22And this was my workout for about five or six months.
- 11:25It was to just go in Basically, just wonder how many times I
- 11:29said, basically in this let's get counter stretch, do free
- 11:35weights, either dumbbells or the bar where you touch it yourself,
- 11:39and you put the weights either side and I would start the
- 11:43workout doing that. So I do bicep curls and then I
- 11:47do like above head. I don't know what they're
- 11:49called, but it would sort of lightly, train, shoulders and
- 11:52mostly train your biceps this way and you'd feel a lot more
- 11:55weight doing it this way than you were.
- 11:57Doing it this way for those listening, please watch the
- 12:00video version. Yeah, I mean, imagine bicep
- 12:03curls and also lifting the bar above your head with like that's
- 12:06basically what I'm talking about and so I would do maybe three or
- 12:12four sets of each version and I was normally like I thought I
- 12:19would sort of do it until I couldn't really do it anymore
- 12:22and that that would always be my limit and sometimes I push it a
- 12:24little bit more if I like I had a bit more energy.
- 12:27But that's just the beginning of the workout and so my arms would
- 12:30be aching a little bit and so I would go and do some cardio or
- 12:33something. And that was always, my plan is
- 12:35to kind of do what I used to do, but be a bit more intensive
- 12:38about it. So instead of doing like 50
- 12:40minutes on an exercise bike, maybe I just do 5 or 10.
- 12:43And so I was doing like, five minutes on the rowing machine,
- 12:47maybe 10 minutes, cycling, a give my arms a chance to rest,
- 12:50and then I would go and do a chest press and I would end on
- 12:55that. So I basically just do The bicep
- 12:58curls and this in the shoulder. Wait, so the beginning, rowing
- 13:03cycling and then end on chest press and I inevitably had less
- 13:09energy to do chest, press. See now I begin with trespass
- 13:12because it's I feel the most physically demanding machine
- 13:15that I use, but that's just for me personally.
- 13:19And I sort of do it in a little Loop, which I'll explain in a
- 13:21second. But that's how I was doing my
- 13:24workouts for about six months and I explain this to a friend
- 13:26of mine. And Louis whoops, and he
- 13:29immediately was like, well, you know, well done for achieving
- 13:32your goals. I've seen your progress.
- 13:34It's really, really good. But you know at the end of the
- 13:36day, this is causing problems because you're not training your
- 13:38back, your lats shoulders. If you continue in this way,
- 13:42it's going to push your shoulders forward and sort of
- 13:45push you into a sort of hunch position and it's not going to
- 13:47be healthy for your body. But most importantly, there's a
- 13:51bunch of different muscles sets that you are not training.
- 13:55And that's integral like obviously Lee everyone has
- 13:57different goals in the gym. Some people just want to lose
- 13:59weight. Some people want to just have a
- 14:02little bit of muscle definition. Some people were bodybuilders
- 14:04some people athlete. Everyone's got different goals.
- 14:08Minor not 100% clear. By think my goal is mainly a to
- 14:13just keep fit, you know, set myself up for the future in a
- 14:17good way. And then also just see how far I
- 14:20can push this really. You know, I don't I don't want
- 14:23to use anything, you know, supplements or anything like
- 14:26that. I'm not interested in that.
- 14:27I might, I might use stuff that's, that's legal and I like
- 14:31good for your body potentially. But I'm not going to use
- 14:33anything to do body bodybuilding.
- 14:36Like I'm not really interested in that, but I want to, I want
- 14:38to see how far I can push this and how How much I can get out
- 14:41of myself, really. Because I feel like that's one
- 14:45of the biggest parts of Jim is, is the healthiest Parts.
- 14:49Maybe is seeing how far you can push your body, how much mental
- 14:53strength do you have, how much can you get out of yourself?
- 14:56Like, how? Deep down.
- 14:58Can you dig? It has been times when I really
- 15:01felt like I couldn't keep going and I just push myself a little
- 15:04bit more and it feels so much more gratifying afterwards.
- 15:07When you do that, like, when you have a good workout and I've got
- 15:10a list of things. I look forward to hear that I'll
- 15:12get to in a second, but I just wanna say like when you get a
- 15:16good workout in and you walk out of that place, you feel like a
- 15:20million bucks, you feel proud of yourself, obviously the
- 15:24endorphins have kicked in. So you're feeling the effects of
- 15:27that. But you feel a sense of
- 15:30achievement after doing it, particularly when you've been
- 15:33doing it for a long time and you start to see the results, you
- 15:35look in the mirror and you like, what you see?
- 15:37And you're like, yeah, you know, I remember when it was this and
- 15:40that's why those transformation pics are so important.
- 15:42Like I saw so many of those so many of those videos and I was
- 15:46always really inspired by those people.
- 15:49But I never really thought that that could be me.
- 15:52And now it is me, I'm well on to that Journey, the journey is not
- 15:56finished. I don't think it ever ends
- 15:58really. You just keep going, but I've
- 16:00seen that progress and I think the biggest thing that Jim is
- 16:03taught me above all else. Is that anything you want in
- 16:08life? If you work hard enough towards
- 16:10it, you can achieve. It might not happen as quickly
- 16:13as you want it to happen. Might not start to show results
- 16:17as quickly as you want them but you you will get there.
- 16:23Through consistency and hard work, you will get that you will
- 16:26get somewhere. And then, once you start
- 16:29achieving that, I mean, I remember when I achieved my
- 16:31six-month goal, I was just like, wow, what else could I do?
- 16:36Where else could I take this, if I could do this, what else can I
- 16:39do? And it's then it gets really
- 16:41exciting then it's like you've stepped into like a new phase
- 16:44and I've applied that mentality to like everything else that I
- 16:48do in life. It's not just Jim and this is
- 16:50why I always employ people to go to gym.
- 16:52This is why I Mention this in my live streams, I mentioned this
- 16:55in real life. I'm like one of the best things
- 16:57you can do with your life is go to the gym or do some sort of
- 17:01Fitness training because it really will give you like a
- 17:06newfound appreciation for life for yourself.
- 17:09I think it gives you a better relationship with yourself in
- 17:13some, in some ways. I feel like It makes you realize
- 17:18that like, you can, you can be so much more and you can keep
- 17:22building and moving forward and, you know, even in the darkest of
- 17:26times, when things seem hopeless, or things seem dire,
- 17:31you can still achieve results with the gym.
- 17:34You know, you did something that you have 100% control over.
- 17:38And I just find that amazing because there's so much in life
- 17:41that we don't really have control over or there are, you
- 17:44know, it's out of our hands, and we just kind of have to accept
- 17:47it, but with Jim, it's completely in your hands, it's
- 17:49all down to you. And that's an amazing feeling
- 17:53being able to control something like that and then see, The
- 17:56fruits of your labor after a while, you know, like you start
- 17:59to see it and when I took those six-month photos and put them
- 18:03online. I was so proud.
- 18:07I was so happy in myself of what I'd achieved.
- 18:12And I wanted to sort, I wanted to show that off a little bit,
- 18:15you know, I'm not a big show off but I did want to kind of share
- 18:18that with everybody. But I remember writing the blurb
- 18:21and just kind of talking about the transformation and what it
- 18:25meant to me in and how hard it can be.
- 18:28And you know what it meant to me because I think that's key gym
- 18:35and working out at Fitness is it's so much more than just
- 18:39going and lifting weights or doing some running.
- 18:40It's it's a journey, it's a lifestyle.
- 18:45And it will change your life. It really will now when it comes
- 18:51to my current work out, which, as I said before, I'm still
- 18:56figuring out all the time. But what I do now is, and this
- 19:00was a bit of advice. I got from Louis was too instead
- 19:04of timing everything focus on just doing sets, and see how
- 19:10many I can do and kind of push myself here and there, if I can
- 19:14go. More do more, but kind of stick
- 19:16to that. So, every machine now or free or
- 19:20sets of free weights, whatever the case may be, I will always
- 19:22do like three sets of 10 or like 15 or three sets of eight,
- 19:28something, something like that. And the interesting thing about
- 19:31that as well, is that every time you go into the gym, you have
- 19:34different levels of energy, sometimes you've got more so you
- 19:36know, you're going to push yourself more and get more out
- 19:38of it, and you can feel your body, you know, if you've got
- 19:42more energy or less energy, you can just feel it.
- 19:45It back when you're pushing it and you're pushing it now,
- 19:46you're pushing it. And you can kind of there's
- 19:49something in your head that almost tells you or least it
- 19:51does with me. Yeah, I can go I can do a few
- 19:53more. I can do more than this.
- 19:55Let's do it. Let's do a few more than that
- 19:56I've already got to 10 but let's do 12.
- 19:58Let's do 14, like whatever. And then there are some days
- 20:02when you just do less, you know, there are days which, you know,
- 20:05and it's not great. But sometimes you'll go there
- 20:07and you just won't really be able to do much.
- 20:10And so you have to kind of dial it back a bit and be like, okay
- 20:13what can I achieve in this session?
- 20:15That normally I'd be able to do more with and so some days on
- 20:18those days I'll dial it back and just do like three sets of a or
- 20:22whatever, but I always make sure to get every single machine in
- 20:24the I've that I need to get in. I'll make sure to get all of
- 20:27them in. So at least I've trained those
- 20:29muscles even if I haven't trained them a lot.
- 20:31I've still train them and therein lies that consistency.
- 20:36Because you're building it, you know, several sessions a week
- 20:39you're building on it. One day you do really well run
- 20:41day, maybe not so much but together on top of each other
- 20:44that's going to account to progress.
- 20:45That's going to give you something hopefully so yeah.
- 20:52Like I normally I'll start with a chest press machine and then
- 20:54I'll move to bicep curl and then I think it's good arm extension.
- 20:57I'm still learning all of this and then I've started adding
- 21:01lateral, press some, trying to focus on training, my shoulders
- 21:05and back. Back a little bit more now and
- 21:08then I'll move on to. I think it's like a form of
- 21:11rowing machine, but it's supposed to train like your
- 21:13chest muscles. So it's kind of more building on
- 21:18what I would do with the chest press machine and they're
- 21:21normally at the moment, I'll end on sort of a lats style machine,
- 21:28but instead of a bar, you have like two handles that you sort
- 21:32of pull down sort of Outward and like you have to sit in a
- 21:37certain way. There's different ways you can
- 21:38sit to kind of train your muscles but the best way to sort
- 21:40of lean your back outwards so that you're feeling the effects
- 21:44and in your lower body as well as your upper body.
- 21:48And so I'll normally end on that and as I say like as the
- 21:53progress moves forward and as I move forward with Jim, I think
- 21:56I'll slowly add more and more things.
- 21:58Sometimes I'll add things like like this back training machine.
- 22:04Which is really awkward. You just basically just extend
- 22:07your back out a bit like, when Robbie Williams look from where
- 22:10we were in is Robin Williams in that movie, did an impression of
- 22:13the hot dog and he's went back like that.
- 22:15It's like that. It's such a weird machine.
- 22:17But it if you do it right, it does kind of give a bit of a
- 22:19feeling I do have leg days. I sometimes skip them though
- 22:25because I do a lot of running around at my workplace and I
- 22:31walk to work. Each way.
- 22:34So I get a lot of like cardio in any way but like really you need
- 22:37those leg days when you can train the muscles, and I'm a bit
- 22:42neglectful of that. So I'm trying trying to get that
- 22:45in. But again, I've got limited
- 22:46time. And, you know, when you got
- 22:48limited time, it's like why I definitely want to get my, I
- 22:50want to favor getting the muscle days in over the leg days, but I
- 22:55know everyone watching this. That's a regular gym.
- 22:56Go, I'll be like, no. No, he's missing leg.
- 22:59Date ever skip, mr. Never died.
- 23:02Can't speak. Never skip.
- 23:03Leg day. I know, I know, I'm sorry, I'm
- 23:07so sorry but that's that's I mean that's how I approach it
- 23:13with regards to my diet. I basically just removed all
- 23:18carbohydrates for the most part from my diet because I always
- 23:21found that I got super tired and I made the switch to whole
- 23:24wheat, like ages, many many, many, many months ago, but it
- 23:28made no difference. Like, every time I would have,
- 23:30like, pasta and chicken, I would just be exhausted.
- 23:34And as I do, this isn't right food.
- 23:35Shouldn't constantly make you feel sleepy and tired like you
- 23:38should sort of get a bit of energy from it.
- 23:42So instead, I kind of eat lots of Chicken and veg, and I've
- 23:47dropped down to like, one or two meals a day, which, again, as I
- 23:50said earlier, it's not ideal. I think that really and
- 23:53truthfully, I should have two meals a day that should be the
- 23:58norm. But, you know, we're not always
- 23:59able to find the time to achieve that unfortunately.
- 24:03But, you know, we are slowly very slowly getting there, but I
- 24:09mean, it has benefited me. I've learned to love chicken.
- 24:14I would one day love to be a vegetarian.
- 24:17And other than chicken, I'm basically pretty much a
- 24:19vegetarian when I do eat other things here and there.
- 24:22But, you know, like I, If all I was going to eat a chicken and
- 24:25veg, I'll be happy with that. I do a lot of soups where I'll
- 24:30cook chicken with I do. I did this one soup where I have
- 24:33like chicken. Let me see potatoes.
- 24:37Sweet potatoes carrots, onions. Chopped tomato.
- 24:41Sometimes real tomatoes tomato passata.
- 24:45What else? Oh and the secret.
- 24:49Awesome ingredient coconut milk. That was that was a lifesaver
- 24:54when I discovered that because I needed something that made the
- 24:57soups less watery, but I'd sort of didn't anticipate how much
- 25:01flavor coconut milk, gives the soup and all my God, does it
- 25:05taste good on carrots if they didn't say carrots.
- 25:07I had carrots to it and that's a very good kind of soup that kind
- 25:11of gives you quite a lot. I should really start eating.
- 25:14Bread to get some more fiber and bit more carbs in there but
- 25:18yeah, I don't know cross that bridge when I come to, I think
- 25:21I'm going to switch up my diet soon anyway, and probably add
- 25:24carbs back into it with in terms of pasta because soup just takes
- 25:28forever and I don't really fancy.
- 25:31So there's a lot of days when I don't really fancy eating it
- 25:34like it's first, it's nice, the first few days.
- 25:36But after a while arms, like four or five days of this,
- 25:41argues that the housemate who was also a big muscle guy, And
- 25:44he would literally just eat chicken and rice every single
- 25:48day. And I was like, bro, how do you
- 25:50not Tire of this? And he's like, it's fine to me.
- 25:52I don't mind them like fair enough.
- 25:55It would drive me nuts. I need that variation in my
- 25:59life. The variety.
- 26:01You know, it's it just gets so boring.
- 26:03It means it sucks. The fun out of eating and I love
- 26:06to eat. It's one of my favorite things
- 26:08to do in the world. I love food.
- 26:11It's yeah, it's almost salivate at the thought of it as a much.
- 26:17I love food. So anything that makes me not
- 26:20lovey in is like the enemy. Yeah, not really much to say
- 26:25about the diet side of things, but that's where I'm at with it
- 26:28right now. One thing I miss about living in
- 26:31Estonia, was my whole set up there.
- 26:34I don't have that here and I really miss it because you do
- 26:37your workout. And then what I would do, Is go
- 26:40sit in the sauna or go swimming and then sit in the sauna, sweat
- 26:44out all of the toxins and then sit in a hot tub and then go
- 26:50about my day. And a lot of the time I would do
- 26:53that on my lunch break, because there was a Jim Cross, the cross
- 26:56the road from where I worked. So I just got my lunch break, go
- 26:59hit the gym, do all these things.
- 27:01Then I was really cheeky and I'd have my actual lunch afterwards.
- 27:04So I took way more than an hour. So yeah, it's a bit cheeky but
- 27:08yeah, the managers would As well, so they never said
- 27:11anything. So I got away with it but yeah,
- 27:16that's a bit cheeky. Everyone went to the gym.
- 27:18They're like estonians, love the gym.
- 27:20Europeans are big fans of the gym.
- 27:23It's very Durham, orientated country and I just missed that
- 27:27set up because I don't have that at the gym here.
- 27:30I mean, the most we have is showers which I don't ever
- 27:32really use. Like I used it yesterday because
- 27:35I had to but generally speaking I never really use their
- 27:37facilities. I just Go do my workout.
- 27:41Have a shower at home because it's about five minutes from my
- 27:44house. It's okay.
- 27:45But yeah, I do. Miss those facilities.
- 27:47I would love to go to a bit more of a premium gym, be able to
- 27:50afford to do that, and have access to someone, or, and all
- 27:54the other nice kind of leisure facilities.
- 27:57That would be nice. But his things I look forward
- 28:01to, when I go to the gym, getting flavored juice at the
- 28:05end of a worker. Oh my God.
- 28:08There's this machine. And it has multiple Juice
- 28:14flavors. I don't know what I guess.
- 28:16It's just flavored water. I don't know if it's got like
- 28:18electrolytes or something in it, so I think it's just flavored
- 28:20water but my thing is to go in there, use drink my water and
- 28:26only sort of The what, how much water have consumed during the
- 28:31workout? Is a good indication of how
- 28:32close I am towards the end as well.
- 28:35But at the end of it I just like to kind of get my juice from the
- 28:38machine and I normally get like I think it's coconut pineapple
- 28:41flavor or something like that and it's like a little treat for
- 28:45working hard. It's like here's your treat for
- 28:48working hard. I know it's silly but I don't
- 28:50know. Okay, makes me happy.
- 28:53It's the small things in life. Also, of course, the shower
- 28:57after the workout, I mean you feel good after the workout
- 28:59anyway. But once you've had that nice
- 29:01little shower and you've relaxed and kind of eased into you the
- 29:04rest of your day, a lot of the time, I'll actually feel quite
- 29:09sort of a sense of a euphoric feeling after having gone to the
- 29:13gym, especially if I've done cardio during that session.
- 29:17Like, I mean, I feel a rush after I've done cardio anyway,
- 29:20because you know, you get get your heart racing, you sweat and
- 29:23you know, use it's good for you. But after the workouts done and
- 29:27your body has time to rest, you know, you feel a lot better and
- 29:31you've got a bit of an energy boost and of course, you have to
- 29:33kind of counterbalance that by eating and may be consuming
- 29:37things like coffee or caffeine or whatever, just to kind of
- 29:39raise you up afterwards but you will have a little bit of a rush
- 29:41for about Kyra, can about an hour or so which is always
- 29:46useful and yeah, there's also a sense of a rush when you're able
- 29:52to reach new weight goals. It's a that way.
- 29:55Yeah, yeah. Weight goes that when you're
- 29:57lifting weights at the gym and you're able to kind of go to the
- 30:01next level it and it's always the same for me.
- 30:04I'll get to a certain thing where I'll be doing my usual
- 30:08workout and I've been at, huh? That feels very weak.
- 30:11That's weird. And then I'll go to the next
- 30:14weight saying the height of the next highest one another.
- 30:17Like oh so all this time I was at 41 kg now I'm at 50 kg huh?
- 30:24And it's like I was thinking about this the other day like I
- 30:26started at like 20 or something at the beginning of this journey
- 30:28and now I'm at 50 and it's like that's amazing that progress
- 30:33small and it's steady and slow but it's incredible.
- 30:38I just I can't be any help but being or of that you know
- 30:43because that's a good indicator of as well of your progress is
- 30:46like how far you can push yourself and you know like like
- 30:50can you go long run on the treadmill.
- 30:52Can you go longer on the exercise bike?
- 30:54Can you lift heavier weights you know like can you do more he do
- 30:57more reps you know it's there's always constant into the
- 31:00indicators around you. Demonstrating to you, your
- 31:04progress and how you should keep going.
- 31:07And Sky's the limit, you know? It really is and it's
- 31:12incredible. Now, we move to some of the
- 31:17less. Positive stuff about the gym.
- 31:22Unfortunately, you can get dodgy people, you're gonna get, Creech
- 31:24can get weirdos, you can get assholes.
- 31:27And for the most part in my gym that I go to, it's pretty fairly
- 31:32decent. I don't have to deal with many
- 31:35rude people for that all difficult people, but you get a
- 31:37few and I want to cover that. Now, there was a guy at a chest
- 31:43press machine recently, so I sat down and I just started doing
- 31:48reps. Soooo.
- 31:49I was like two or three in and he interrupted me now, got as
- 31:52Cardinal Sim, number one, if you want to speak to someone at the
- 31:55gym, don't interrupt them during the middle of their work out.
- 31:59Wait till they finished or taken a break, something like that.
- 32:02Unless it's like an emergency or something, don't interrupt them.
- 32:06Wait just wait, I just started and I was in a my flow and he's
- 32:12interrupting me right? But gets right up in my face and
- 32:15asks me how many more sets I have?
- 32:19And I said, like two or three more.
- 32:23And he heard 45 minutes apparently.
- 32:28And the guy remember, the guy very well, he was in a tank top
- 32:31and he was just like, I don't know.
- 32:35He was carrying around. Luggage like a suitcase.
- 32:40So I assumed he was from out of town or something, and instead
- 32:43of just going somewhere else, working out with something else,
- 32:45he chose to stand like a meter away from me and just wait, wait
- 32:51until I was done. Now, that is one of the most
- 32:53infuriating things you can do to someone when they're there at
- 32:56the gym because you need to give people their space.
- 32:58Like Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I feel like Jim is kind of like
- 33:04Sanctuary when I go there. You know, everybody has the
- 33:08right not to be harassed and everyone has the right to feel
- 33:11comfortable in their space and just do what they need to do and
- 33:14because it's post it is a form of leisure is a Leisure
- 33:19activity, you know? And it's a luxurious will was
- 33:23what do they call it? A recreational activity.
- 33:25It is that this is some people's real sense of fun and joy in
- 33:30life. And if you come along and ruin
- 33:31that, I mean you're an asshole, you know?
- 33:33And this guy was an asshole and I'm putting them out for if
- 33:37sorry if you ever sees this you're an asshole.
- 33:41It just what the fuck man. Sorry I just I hate rude people,
- 33:46I deal with them so much and I just, I just why'd you have to
- 33:49be rude, it's not necessary. But okay, what should this guy
- 33:53have done? This guy should have gone to
- 33:54another machine and just come back in like 10, 15 minutes?
- 34:00Yeah. Because how long is like if he
- 34:03wanted specifics, he should have asked at the beginning if I just
- 34:06because I would have said, oh, probably 3 sets of 10 3 sets of
- 34:0910 with breaks in the middle, not going to be more than about
- 34:1210 minutes if that. But I like to take my time.
- 34:15See now that he was there sitting there also standing
- 34:18there. I felt pressure to go quicker.
- 34:20I couldn't sit and rest because every time I was like, resting.
- 34:23He was staring daggers at me and I'm like, motherfucker.
- 34:26Like, I need time to rest. I'm not just going to do three
- 34:29sets in a row with That a break. Like that's not how this works.
- 34:33Sorry. I'm get.
- 34:34I'm get, I got a bit heated when I took about three people.
- 34:36So I start swearing a lot but it just infuriates me.
- 34:40How dare you, how dare you do that?
- 34:42And then if that wasn't enough, he interrupts me off to the
- 34:45second set, it's an envelope. Hey, listen me, like how long
- 34:48you going to be like, you know, I have to go to work soon.
- 34:50It's like I don't give a fuck if you need to go to work soon, you
- 34:54should have planned your day better, you know what I mean?
- 34:56Like, you should have given yourself more time, so that if
- 34:59something will come up. Be an issue.
- 35:01You know, that's your problem. That's not my problem.
- 35:04And, of course, I'm too nice to say that.
- 35:07So I'm just like, just one more set mate, but we always live it.
- 35:12I was so annoyed. And then when I got off and I
- 35:15was finally finished, he was like, oh, thank you me and I
- 35:18really was just like, yeah, whatever made fucking dickhead
- 35:21and then a similar situation happened recently, where a guy
- 35:27came up to me while I was at the bicep curl machine and he asked
- 35:30me how many sets of had left and I said to and then he went away.
- 35:34Was it? Okay, great brilliant.
- 35:36He gets it but then he comes back and I'm Midway or at the
- 35:39end of my second set. So it's only been five minutes
- 35:42since he was last there and he go he just stands there with his
- 35:46mate and they both have their arms crossed just staring at me.
- 35:50I can feel their presence like it's that when you know, when
- 35:54you're doing something like let's say you're at work and you
- 35:56have a supervisor like staring over your shoulder, you just
- 36:00more prone to fuck up, you know. And like I was struggling.
- 36:04In this particular one because you know, like you strain
- 36:07yourself whatever and I felt more pressure to get to the end
- 36:12of my set and I just felt them staring at me the whole time,
- 36:18you know, like if you get a set stand there and stare at me
- 36:22while I'm doing. At least give me some fucking
- 36:23encouragement. But yeah, come on, keep going
- 36:25something like that. But no, just staring and judging
- 36:29they might not have even been judging at all.
- 36:30They might not have been thinking anything but that's how
- 36:33it felt. And I just feel that that's so
- 36:35rude and obnoxious and just really demonstrates like how
- 36:40blissfully unaware people can be in the gym.
- 36:42And you know what, like I've got more to talk about infuriating
- 36:46people at the gym and this is just a few of the things I've
- 36:50noticed in my local gym. I'm also going to throw out a
- 36:54lot of the things that people want to read.
- 36:56It said as well because there's a lot so it's not just me that
- 36:59feels this way. There are a lot of assholes out
- 37:02there. People putting weights in the
- 37:05wrong places. I don't like to go on a fucking
- 37:09Easter egg hunt around the gym trying to find weights.
- 37:14That's not my idea of a good time at the gym.
- 37:17I want to be able to go over to the weight section and find 15
- 37:2016 kg. I don't want to have to find
- 37:22like one on the floor over here, one at the other end of the
- 37:25fucking gym somewhere, next about the exercise bikes, like
- 37:28what the fuck? It takes like a minute, 30
- 37:32seconds to, just put them back where you found them.
- 37:35You know, is that? That hard?
- 37:37Is it that taxing? But no, you just get these lazy
- 37:40fuckers who just can't be bothered and it's really
- 37:43disrespectful. I think you know.
- 37:45Yeah okay let's not Palace but you should be treating it as
- 37:48such you should be treating it as like you would treat your own
- 37:52home you know with respect I do I just don't get that people
- 37:57leaving the gym in a mess in general, you know, just not
- 38:01cleaning machines or sweating on a machine than just getting up
- 38:04and walking off, you know, like that.
- 38:07Disgusting other people have to use those machines and you've
- 38:11just let left all your bodily fluid lying around on top of
- 38:15them. You know you just left things in
- 38:16a state. It's disgusting.
- 38:18Here's a lot of people that like also get annoyed when like, you
- 38:22asked how many sets they've got. Like I'm always nice and polite
- 38:26to people. When they ask me things, okay?
- 38:30I'm only annoyed or give people a bit of an attitude back if
- 38:34they're rude in the way that they said it.
- 38:36You know, if you go Oh hey buddy.
- 38:38How many sets you have left? I've been at are this many mate,
- 38:41no problem. But no people will just be like,
- 38:44how many sets do you have or how many states do have a left and
- 38:47then you'll tell them that. But yeah, can you hurry it up?
- 38:50I'm like, fuck you. I'm not gonna hurry up.
- 38:52I'm gonna dunk if anything. I'm going to be Petty and take
- 38:55top, take my time now, just because you were like that.
- 39:00Fuck. This would be what gets viable
- 39:04run. It me just getting angry about
- 39:06gym stuff. If anything I've been doing this
- 39:11show now for two years, two years, this is episode 185.
- 39:16And I'm talking about the gym and I can't count how many Clips
- 39:20I've made. How many Many, many hours.
- 39:23I've spent doing this. I love doing this.
- 39:25Don't get me wrong, but none of my Clips have ever gone viral.
- 39:29I've had a few that have had, like, some somewhat virality,
- 39:33but never really, but I feel like it would just be very
- 39:37fitting if this was the thing that went viral was me just
- 39:41pissing and moaning about gym or just people in general people
- 39:46shouting and screaming during sex.
- 39:47That listen you can make a bit of noise, all right, I get it.
- 39:52Sometimes you just got to get your strains out.
- 39:55I was doing it at the gym the other day, but if I can hear you
- 39:58like at the other end of the fucking gym, that's not normal.
- 40:03I remember one guy was doing, I can't remember what the name of
- 40:06the machine is but it's where you like, take two handles and
- 40:08you pull them towards yourself and they both have like string
- 40:11on each side and you just pull them in towards yourself and all
- 40:14I heard was Was he the fucking incredible Hulk?
- 40:22Like, come on, man, I can hear you.
- 40:25Everyone can hear you. It's just like we've all got
- 40:29headphones on but we can all hear him.
- 40:31And it's like, what is that? You're like a certain your male
- 40:35dominance like oh I'm the old me.
- 40:40I am the alpha, everybody pay attention to how strong I am.
- 40:47Like this, what the fuck man? Come on.
- 40:53Enough is enough. All right, let's, let's hear
- 40:59what read? It doesn't like about the gym.
- 41:02Someone taking all the free weights even though they weren't
- 41:04using them. Yeah, I've seen this, someone
- 41:07will take like three or four different sets, put them all on
- 41:10the floor, and probably just take like the smallest ones lift
- 41:14about five reps and then just sit there on their phone for
- 41:18like an hour. And that's another thing.
- 41:19If you're on your phone at the gym, okay, it's fine to check
- 41:23your phone. I'm not, I'm not going to be
- 41:26fucking Jim, please. He's alright, like, I don't care
- 41:28but if, if I'm waiting to get onto one of the machines and
- 41:33you're there on your phone, for like 20 minutes, that takes the
- 41:36piss, go stand on your phone, so start on your phone.
- 41:40Yes, stand on your phone. Go, look at your phone somewhere
- 41:43else. If you know, you're not going to
- 41:44be working out, you know, the only thing reason you should be
- 41:47checking, your phone is in between when you're resting or
- 41:50to like, I don't know, change. The song or like, you know, if
- 41:55you got call Bluetooth, whatever, fine.
- 41:58But that you should be using the machines and not making people
- 42:01wait for you. So when groups of jimbros or gym
- 42:07babes take up stations but spend more time, they're on their
- 42:10phones or shooting the shit. Yeah.
- 42:12And yours funny about this as well.
- 42:15Sometimes these groups have the audacity to give you attitude,
- 42:18when you ask them how many like sets they got there by 8:00 that
- 42:21will be done, will be done and it's like, you're the ones who
- 42:24have the problem. Not me.
- 42:25You're the ones being rude and taking up space and being
- 42:29obnoxious and sorry. I'm reiterating.
- 42:31What said before, essentially, but like when it's Groups of
- 42:33people, obviously they feel more inclined to be like that because
- 42:37they've got an audience, and it's like a group of people.
- 42:40And it's, you know, what I've noticed is, why it's always like
- 42:42super young people. People like, I don't know, maybe
- 42:45like teenagers, and 16, 17, 18, something like that.
- 42:49It's never like older people, really.
- 42:50It's mainly just these younger people that have probably never
- 42:53been to the gym before or is that their first time going.
- 42:56And they've just got an attitude problem.
- 42:58Whereas, most of the people that I see at the gym have been
- 43:01they're going there for many many years.
- 43:03And they just have wonderful, amazing attitudes.
- 43:08They're always nice and polite and respectful and they'll help
- 43:12you out the be there for you, if you need it, they'll spot you
- 43:15there. Do all these amazing things
- 43:18because they get how it is. It's supposed to be a sanctuary.
- 43:21It's supposed to be a nice place.
- 43:22It's not supposed to be a place where people have an attitude
- 43:25problem. People bring in portable
- 43:27speakers and Blasting their own music throughout the entire gym.
- 43:30Yeah, I mean, there's already shitty music being I played over
- 43:34the tire noise that no one listens to.
- 43:36I don't want to hear your music on top of that.
- 43:38Shut the fuck up. Turn it off.
- 43:40Get some by some headphones. I spilled some water on the
- 43:43floor and the gyms trainer rushed to be are rushed over to
- 43:46ask. Are you going to clean that in a
- 43:48very condescending tone? It was my first day there first
- 43:54I wish to leave a one star review on Google when I got back
- 43:56home. Never went there again, I don't
- 43:58blame you like it sucks when you go there and the gym memo.
- 44:05So the gym staff and not nice because if nothing else that the
- 44:08gym staff are supposed to be there as like a last support
- 44:11line, you can ask people at the gym for help and whatnot but
- 44:15like the gym stuff should be the nicest people because they work
- 44:18there, you know, like there's gonna be so many people that
- 44:20come in that don't really know what they're doing and they need
- 44:23your help and support. And they don't know, they don't
- 44:25know about Jim culture, see I guess a lot of me complaining
- 44:29here is me talking about like how Jim should be.
- 44:32There is like gym etiquette and gym culture and like little
- 44:35things that you learn across the way little things you learn,
- 44:38like how to be and it's not that difficult, you know?
- 44:42I mean, it's not difficult to be polite.
- 44:43It's not. I mean for example If you know
- 44:48you're going to be doing a lot of sets, you can be using a
- 44:50machine for a long time and nice way to enable another person to
- 44:55use the machine in that scenario is to offer to do a common
- 44:59voice. It is cool, but you take turns.
- 45:01So like I'll do a set. I'll come off.
- 45:04I'll rest you do your set and then we swap and someone can
- 45:08suggest that. And that can be like a good way
- 45:10of you still get to use a machine, you get breaks, maybe
- 45:13you even make a friend and the process like it, everybody's a
- 45:15winner, right? Right.
- 45:16And a lot of people will tend to go for that and I think that's,
- 45:19that's really, really awesome. So yeah.
- 45:23What's this one? I worked out so hard at our gym
- 45:26at Camp. Follow Yaar, Iraq.
- 45:28That I broke all the elliptical machines and they wouldn't fix
- 45:33them or by them by more. Okay.
- 45:38I got told at Planet Fitness that my this is an American
- 45:41chain. I believe that my water bottle
- 45:42was too big by the manager. Someone said lunk alert what?
- 45:48What does that mean? What does that mean?
- 45:52What, how can it too big to have a water?
- 45:55What? Your water bottles too big?
- 46:00Wow. Does that?
- 46:01What does rules? I don't get that.
- 46:02That's, that's not normal. Women's volleyball volleyball.
- 46:06Team at my college, getting priority on the free weights,
- 46:08the whole area is sealed off, or they're in there.
- 46:10Most of them not using the squat rack.
- 46:12Anyway, but instead the Smith machine for half rep squats,
- 46:16that sucks high school has taken over the bench for eternity just
- 46:20to Ego left. By the way, I asked the people
- 46:23have read it, what would the most infuriating thing?
- 46:26They experience than the gym was and this is all the responses.
- 46:29Has taken over the Beds For Eternity for ego left.
- 46:35Yeah, well like they just sit there for like so long, not
- 46:39using it, but they just own this part of the gym apparently
- 46:43people not minding their own business.
- 46:45While I left tell me what routines to do.
- 46:47Oh my God. And what not to, even when I
- 46:51have my own fitness instructor. They're very annoying.
- 46:53Yeah, it's unsolicited advice. Nobody likes, unsolicited advice
- 46:57but best way to approach that is, if you know what, like, I
- 47:02see, people at the gym, sometimes doing things, You know
- 47:06that aren't correct. And I don't really feel like
- 47:11it's my place to say anything. If I feel like it's going to be
- 47:13dangerous for them, I will say something.
- 47:16And I'll be like, hey mate, just just to let you know, like
- 47:20there's a better way of doing this.
- 47:21Like the bit safer did a bit but like generally speaking, you
- 47:26know, you learn, you learn through progress, but I think
- 47:29it's important for people to once in a while just point
- 47:32things out and, you know, take care of each other, it should be
- 47:35a kind of a nice space where everyone takes care of each
- 47:37other and looks out for each other.
- 47:40But you know, unfortunately you're not, you're not always
- 47:42going to get that. Some people are going to be
- 47:43quite, I don't know how to put it.
- 47:48But then I don't I don't see necessarily say egotistical, but
- 47:51it's kind of like arrogant like that.
- 47:53It's kind of you come over and you just thrust this knowledge
- 47:56on the people and it's like, all right, I get it, you know,
- 47:58everything like it's all about the way you relay that message.
- 48:03I don't think there's anything wrong with people coming over to
- 48:05you and giving you advice but try to Do it in a way that's
- 48:11respectful. I think that's always the way to
- 48:14do it. Some fat guy, making fun of
- 48:18another fat guy for working out at night because that must mean
- 48:21he's insecure. That's why he's here at night
- 48:23when no one could see him. See this is awful.
- 48:25Like whenever I see someone that's you know overweight
- 48:30that's at the gym. I think it's amazing.
- 48:32I'm so inspired by that because it must be so tough to keep
- 48:38going because you are heavily so self-conscious.
- 48:40It's a place that You feel like the eyes are on you?
- 48:43They're probably not to be honest but you feel that way
- 48:46because the whole point is that you go there, you feel
- 48:49body-conscious. I felt the same way when I first
- 48:51started going to the gym I felt so tiny.
- 48:54I felt fat I felt terrible about myself but the reality is like
- 48:59it's a space where In its best state, everyone is there to
- 49:04better themselves and everyone is there to help each other out
- 49:06and it's a good positive environment to be around.
- 49:09And I can't tell you how proud and happy, it makes me to see
- 49:12someone keep going to the gym consistently.
- 49:14And you see like the progress. They're making over months and
- 49:16months and months. He might never speak to that
- 49:18person but you see that progress and you're like, I get that.
- 49:22I know what goes into that, I know how hard you've worked
- 49:26because I've been there and it's a very inspiring atmosphere to
- 49:30being and no one. In the gym should be you know,
- 49:35making others feel bad. That's just not the way that it
- 49:38should be. It should never be like that,
- 49:44and if ever is like that, it's disappointing people should do
- 49:48better. People should support each
- 49:50other, you know, raise each other up.
- 49:53Not push each other down because What you don't realize is, you
- 49:58might be affecting that person's confidence the self-esteem and
- 50:02then they might stop going. And then they won't achieve
- 50:05their goals and you might be the reason that prevents them from
- 50:09achieving their goals and that's awful.
- 50:12Try to raise people up. Try to inspire people motivate
- 50:15people. That's what you should do.
- 50:18Oh, and just one final comment, this person said me pulling and
- 50:21pushing with all my might and not being able to open the
- 50:24entrance Door. Hey, some doors are just a ball.
- 50:27Ache to try and open. I've had this, and it makes me
- 50:29feel like, oh, yeah. Doesn't matter how long I've
- 50:32been going to the gym. I can't open this fucking door.
- 50:34I was wrong with me. He like clearly, I'm a weakling.
- 50:38It's just annoying. Tricky door, sometimes, isn't
- 50:41it? Bill better doors, Jim people.
- 50:44I mean, maybe they don't purpose.
- 50:46You know, it's like mmm. We're going to make everything
- 50:48about this place as tough as possible.
- 50:50So you're always always getting a workout.
- 50:53Like for example, I don't think I've ever seen a lift in the
- 50:56gym. Maybe some I never seen it.
- 51:01I just see steps everywhere. It's like, that's right.
- 51:06You want to get to the locker room.
- 51:07You got a walk, he got it's a workout, everything's a worker.
- 51:12I mean I mean it does it does inspire you to do that.
- 51:16Like if I'm in a train station I'll always go for the steps.
- 51:18I won't go for the escalators. I mean, even now I walk to work,
- 51:24I could take the bus, there's a bus stop right outside my house,
- 51:26but just makes more sense to walk to save money.
- 51:31Get some exercise in, that's at least nearly an hour's worth of
- 51:36working out every single day. You know, just by walking to
- 51:39work, half an hour each way. I feel like that kind of gym
- 51:43mentality or Fitness mentality seeps, its way into your
- 51:47everyday life. So, if you see opportunities to
- 51:50get some exercise, even if If it's just walking, you'll
- 51:53probably take it. And I feel like that's more of a
- 51:56change of mindset. More than anything else, you
- 51:58know. Anyway, I'm glad that I finally
- 52:03did this episode. It's been sitting in my, my
- 52:06notebook for ages. And I wasn't sure when I was
- 52:08going to do it, but I realized that I didn't have a podcast
- 52:12lined up for this week, because I always try to get the podcast
- 52:16out on a Friday. And I don't know if I'm going to
- 52:18edit this in time. Hopefully, I will, I think, I
- 52:21think I'll be all right, I think, Right.
- 52:23But yeah, I wanted to do this for so long especially because
- 52:28and you might see this in the thumbnail for this podcast.
- 52:32You might see one of my transformation images like most
- 52:36recently like how I'm doing. I'd I haven't decided what to
- 52:39put as the photo, but it felt like a good time to talk about
- 52:44it because I'm very proud of my progress and where I've come and
- 52:47and what I've learned through this gym journey and you know
- 52:49maybe we can do a follow-up to this in a year from now or Finn
- 52:52and I can kind of share more with you but I just kind of
- 52:55wanted to share my experiences of what I've learned.
- 52:58And I guess if nothing else to say to you like hey if you're
- 53:01thinking about going to the gym or you're thinking about
- 53:04bringing some more Fitness into your life, it is one of the best
- 53:08things you can do. It really will change your life.
- 53:11It will change. It will improve your mental
- 53:13health. It'll improve how you feel about
- 53:16yourself. It will make you physically and
- 53:19mentally feel better. And it just gives you so much.
- 53:24You know it really is a positive thing to add to your life so
- 53:27really if you listen to this and then you're thinking about it
- 53:29and you're not sure give it some serious thought.
- 53:33Really might be one of the best things you ever do with
