- 1:00Y'all, welcome to today's show. Apologies for not getting one out yesterday.
- 1:07But I had a very very long drive that you know, never count on
- 1:15the directions you get off of Google. Just put it that way. They
- 1:19are more often wrong than not. And what should what according to several actual
- 1:27maps that I turned pulled up online to you know, you look up your
- 1:30directions, what should have been about three and a half hour drive. I
- 1:36turned into about a seven hour drive. And I didn't even make it all
- 1:41the way to my destination. It got too late. I had to just
- 1:46cancel everything I had planned. And it was blazing hot. Oh my gosh,
- 1:49it was hot. I was down in eastern North Carolina, easter Raleigh,
- 1:57and it was it was bad. Actually yeah, I mean, you
- 2:04know, the temperature was like ninety five ninety seven something like that, but
- 2:08humidity was really high, and I mean every it was miserable. It was
- 2:14just miserable. Got a really good sandwich though, So you know, I
- 2:19always trying to find the bright side. I always look for the upside and
- 2:22things. But I did. Guy got in very late and was not able
- 2:24to do the podcast. So let's get back on track and we'll get you
- 2:31know I'm going to start each show with a little excerpt from the book.
- 2:35Radio replies by M Let's see Father's Rumble and CARTI. And before I said
- 2:44I thought they were both in Australia, I don't know why I thought that
- 2:46one was actually in Sydney, Australia, the others in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- 2:49So very very influential, and that's probably why the venerable hopefully soon to
- 2:55be Saint Fulton Sheen endorsed the book and the ford. He was probably very
- 3:00familiar with the one in Saint Paul, so M. One of the questioners
- 3:07asks or posits, I guess I should say, there is no need to
- 3:14talk of future balancing of the scales. Virtue is its own reward in life,
- 3:17even as this wicked, even as the wicked endure endure remorse. Let
- 3:24me see looking at that right, Virtue is its own reward in life,
- 3:29even as the wicked endure remorse. Well, they answer that will not do.
- 3:36Consciousness of virtue is not so much good to a man about to be
- 3:40wrongfully hanged, or who cannot live to enjoy it. Nor does vice always
- 3:45bring proportionate remorse. Many are too hardened to experience deep remorse. There will
- 3:52be a leveling up someday after this life, and by God. That was
- 3:57a very common humanist argument before World War Two. I think after the holocausts,
- 4:04people well, it had been the Russian Revolution and the Chinese Revolution,
- 4:10communism spread. I think people began to have a little less faith in the
- 4:16inherent goodness of humanity. I think most of us do now at least admit
- 4:23that man has a fallen nature and is more prone to evil than good.
- 4:27But if you follow that line of reasoning, it basically undermines all liberal thought.
- 4:32So maybe not that main people do actually, but yeah they should.
- 4:41I think let's see old saying a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged,
- 4:46or, as Winston Churchill said, if you're under twenty and you're not a
- 4:54liberal, you have no heart. If you're over twenty still a liberal,
- 4:58you have no brain. I think it was money. It could have been
- 5:00a little bit older. I'm not sure. This next one says Joseph McCabe
- 5:04believed in God, but he was, but he renounced bigotry and became agnostic.
- 5:11McCabe was quite an influential thinker at this time, And they answer There
- 5:15are many men, such as Joseph McCabe, who have given up their profession
- 5:19of a belief of God, but they do not give up that belief because
- 5:25agnosticism offers them a higher and holier life. They find agnosticism less irksome,
- 5:30whether it be an emancipation from moral laws or from the restraints of truth and
- 5:36logic. Nor should you talk of bigotry. Many agnostics have far worse bias
- 5:42than that which they attribute to believers, garbling facts and distorting evidence without any
- 5:48without any of the scruples which one who really believes in God would certainly experience.
- 5:55And boy, isn't that true? You think of Margaret Sanger just quote
- 6:01I read recently, and she was saying that they couldn't let people know that
- 6:08the goal of planned parenthood was the eradication of the Negro race, as she
- 6:14put it, Yes, planned parenthood, this is, you know, Hillary
- 6:16Clinton's hero actually one of Barack Obama's heroes, wanting to kill all black people.
- 6:20And I don't believe she was actually agnostica, that she was an atheist,
- 6:25but it doesn't really matter. She was a communist, a socialist,
- 6:28a progressive, or all part and parcel of the same. And let's see,
- 6:33we'll finish up with this one. If I sincerely believe that there is
- 6:36no God and there be a God, would not invincible ignorance save me.
- 6:42Wow, that's a little presumption, isn't it. Such ignorance is not invincible,
- 6:47he said, you can overcome it. You violated your reason in suppressing
- 6:53its spontaneous concept of God, and by persuading yourself that religionous faults. If
- 6:59you took the sure off your reason and let it swing back to the supreme
- 7:02cause of its very being, it would do so as the needle to the
- 7:06pole, meaning like a compass. Right Pascal rightly says, Pascal, I
- 7:13think that's I mispronouncings. I know, I'm just not anything French. I'm
- 7:16going to mispronounce even though I'm about half French. Pascal rightly says that there
- 7:24are two types of men, those who are afraid to lose God and those
- 7:28who are afraid they might find him. So I when to wrap it up
- 7:32with that one on our quote from radio replies, because it's a very profound
- 7:36statement, those who are afraid they might lose God and those who are afraid
- 7:41they might find him. I remember Pope Saint John Paul's second saying when he
- 7:49met with Fidel Castra, he said that he was a man whose physical appearance
- 7:56and his countenance when the two met, told him that he was in great
- 8:00need of going to confession. Communists, of course, being atheists, and
- 8:07well great persecutors of Christianity and the Church. All right, so let's get
- 8:13to an interesting subject. You will see really even in Catholic circles, which
- 8:18is really a shame, very much so in Protestant circles, and again especially
- 8:24like I'm on the fringe groups you're to observe at your seven day Adventist,
- 8:28your Church of God, etc. Etc. Home church type people and all
- 8:33that they are always seeking codes in the Bible, magic numbers, basically hidden
- 8:43insights. We could go with that, right. You may remember in the
- 8:48late nineties, early two thousands, the whole Bible code thing was a real,
- 8:54real hot topic. I read the book. I cannot say I was
- 8:58convinced by the evidence, but they said, you know, if you took,
- 9:05oh, I don't know, the third letter of each word in the
- 9:07Bible, or the seventh letter of every other word, you could get prophecies,
- 9:13You could get insights into the future. Yeah, it's really not how
- 9:16the Bible is supposed to be used. But you know, there was remarkable,
- 9:22striking similarity and well, I wouldn't say similarity, but things that they
- 9:28said were foretold and the Bible seemed to happen. Well, okay, I'm
- 9:31not gonna quibble with that. You gotta remember there's so many different translations of
- 9:35the Bible, and the Bible is a very big book. So it's almost
- 9:39like rolling the dice and saying, you know, I'm going to come up
- 9:41with a seven out every now and then, right, well, I'm gonna
- 9:45flip through the pages and I'm gonna figure it out. Using the Bible as
- 9:48an oracle is actually condemned by the Church. We're not supposed to inquire into
- 9:56future events. Now. Occasionally, an angel or uh, you know,
- 10:01God, I mean, you know, may manifest himself to someone in a
- 10:05vision and like you know, at Fatima and say a warning from our blessed
- 10:11Mother, this is going to happen, and you could prevent it. But
- 10:13that's a direct communication. That's not opening the book and using it like a
- 10:20Uiji board trying to find something hidden. It's uh, but that's well,
- 10:26that's one extreme. But many people would talk about the symbology of numbers in
- 10:31the Bible, and it's true to an extent. Some numbers did have certain
- 10:37meanings to you know, the Hebrew people. At twelve was a number that
- 10:41represented, um, you know, fullness, entirety. I guess you would
- 10:46say seven being significant from the seven days of the week. Um, well,
- 10:52there are there are the three, you know, the Trinity, and
- 10:56these all have some symbolic meaning. But people go way too far with it,
- 11:01way too far. I mean, there are people who will tell you
- 11:05that because certain number is used in the Bible, it symbolized something that it
- 11:11you know, obviously isn't in the clear writings of the Bible. And we
- 11:16have to wonder from whence does this spring? Well, it actually goes back
- 11:22to the Gnostic heresy. Now you may remember I mentioned them a few days
- 11:26ago in I think it's an ax. Pretty sure it's an ax. The
- 11:33Apostles, Saint Peter and a couple of the other Apostles encounter Simon. The
- 11:37magician. Simon, also known as Simon Magnus, sometimes was a well you
- 11:46would call him a great magician. He used trickery and spells and witchcraft to
- 11:54amaze the people and had quite a following. Drafted to a demons. You
- 12:01know, he was a man of the occult, and he was a very
- 12:05popular figure in his day. I believe it's yes. Saint Justin Martyr tells
- 12:09us that there were statues of him in some area, and he was even
- 12:15well known to the Greeks and Romans. He was presented himself as a god
- 12:20when he saw the apostles laying on hands the sacrament confirmation. It says that
- 12:30the people have been baptized but had not yet received the Holy Spirit. You
- 12:33know, you have to be confirmed into the Catholic Church to get the fullness
- 12:37of the spirit. He was amazed and tried to buy this power from Saint
- 12:41Peter, and Peter was able to read hearts. That was just one of
- 12:46the gifts that was given to Saint Peter. He knew exactly who this man
- 12:50was and how he would misuse the gifts of God, and he said,
- 12:52may your silver perish with you. And Simon the Magician begged him to spare
- 13:00life, because you may remember that when people lied to Saint Peter sometimes they
- 13:05dropped dead. Okay, So he fully recognized the power of God and the
- 13:09apostles, but being a wicked man, went into apparently Samarian a few other
- 13:16places and claimed to be Jesus. He set up his own church, and
- 13:22it was a mystery church. He claimed to have all this hidden knowledge.
- 13:26He would use the Gospels, he would use the books of the Bible,
- 13:31and he would tell people he knew all kinds of amazing information revelations that had
- 13:37been given to him because he was God and he had existed from all time
- 13:41right. And that became the Gnostics and the Nastics were a great heresy,
- 13:46and one of the main things they focused on was hidden codes in the Bible,
- 13:52often based on numbers. It well, they were essentially blending Greek mythology
- 14:00and some of the mystery religions of the East with Christianity in an absolutely satanic,
- 14:07demotic way, and it was condemned by the early Church, especially by
- 14:11Saint Irenaeus. And I'm going to read a little bit from one of his
- 14:15passages, but one of the things he said that, of course there were
- 14:16multiple gods, there were multiple deities, there were multiple heavens. And they
- 14:22would say were they're twelve of them, or they're thirty of them, and
- 14:24they find something in the Bible and they would say, look, this proves
- 14:28it because when Jesus started his ministry at whatever age, this proves that they
- 14:33were that symbolized this many deities in heaven or levels of heaven right, or
- 14:39the woman who was bleeding for so many years that Jesus healed, that's symbolic.
- 14:43And they used any time they could find a correlation between these numbers.
- 14:48They said they had hidden knowledge. And that's what gnostic means, nsus means
- 14:52to know. And really, even though this was condemned in like the three
- 15:00hundred a d. I think maybe even earlier than that, thoroughly removed,
- 15:03people keep coming back to it. People keep coming back to it over and
- 15:07over and over. I told you how the like once Saved, Always saved
- 15:11doctrine of some Protestant churches, especially Baptist comes directly from the Nastics. These
- 15:18these errors, these heresies keep coming up. And it's not like people are
- 15:22going and reading one of the Nastic gospels, so called forged gospel called the
- 15:28Book of Judas, in which they said Judas was a good guy, and
- 15:33you know he was actually sent by God to do this and that as opposed
- 15:37to being the man who betrayed Christ and was committed suicide and suffered eternal damnation.
- 15:43They turned everything on its head, they turned it inside out. Well,
- 15:46modern Protestants are not like Pentecostals. I mean, you know, Pat
- 15:50Robertson was big into this Bible Code stuff. He wasn't going reading the Nastic
- 15:54Gospels. How do these ideas keep getting into people's head when they're totally ignorant
- 16:03that they haven't discovered it on their own. They think it's brand new and
- 16:04they came up with themselves. I would argue that it's a matter of demonic
- 16:10influence. I mean, Satan is a father of lies, and the same
- 16:14wise keep popping up every so many years, every so many generations. I
- 16:19mean, oh, who was it Calvin? I think it was Calvin who
- 16:25said there were only you know, one hundred thousand people going to go to
- 16:27heaven out of all mankind, all Christians, all Jews, everybody who had
- 16:34existed from the beginning of time, from you know, Adam and Eve to
- 16:37this day, only a hundred thousand gon go to heaven. And you would
- 16:41say, well, okay, there's not one. The Bible actually says but
- 16:45he said he added up this number of times. This number that's the only
- 16:48because you know, talks about the multitudes. I think it was from the
- 16:52Book of Revelation and it's a symbolic number meaning fullness. It really comes from
- 16:56like the twelve tribes of Israel. Well, this is like when Jesus said,
- 17:00you know, how many times should I forgive my brother? Shows to
- 17:03be seven times. He says, no, seventy times. Seventy you know,
- 17:07it's a number meaning infinity. Well, in there's twelve times whatever.
- 17:11That comes up to about one hundred thousand. I don't have the exact quote
- 17:15in front of me. It's nonsense. That was a number that would be
- 17:18known to people from the Jewish tradition to represent a lot of people. Essentially,
- 17:25he had an innumerable number of people. But he comes up with and
- 17:29says, I think it was one hundred thousand. People are gonna go to
- 17:30heaven. And meanwhile he has this like really strict, stringent Protestant church,
- 17:36and you're thinking, well, why why would I join your church if I'm
- 17:41not going to go to heaven one way or another. And he said,
- 17:42you could be the worst center on earth. And if you were numbered in
- 17:45that chosen group. You know, you were going to go to heaven one
- 17:49way or another, and no matter how good you were, you'd be the
- 17:53best Christian on earth. And if you weren't in that chosen group, you
- 17:57weren't going to heaven. Makes no sense of all. I can't understand how
- 18:02you know, millions of people fell for it. I'll never understand. You
- 18:06know, Presbyterianism, Methodistism, it's all based on Calvin. And the guy
- 18:10was a complete freaking luon. I mean, yeah, a compreplete freaking lunatic,
- 18:17and who was so presumptuous to think that he knew better than God's own
- 18:22church, founded by the apostles, taught by the apostles. And you know,
- 18:26a lot of the things he said was just really nutball stuff. Calvin
- 18:32Knox. Knox was probably even worse. I could go down the list.
- 18:34But anyway, these numbers keep coming up and people, Oh, I learned
- 18:41something numerology, It's it's fascinating. It's hidden knowledge. Yeah, narcissism,
- 18:48hidden knowledge, a grave error and sin. Actually, so now let's look
- 18:52at what Saint iron As said. He said, and I guess this is
- 18:57chapter fifteen of his second book, against heresy. God is not to be
- 19:02sought after by means of letters, syllables and numbers. Necessity of humility in
- 19:07such investigations is required. Okay, that was a bullet point. It just
- 19:11says necessity of humility and such investigations. Anyway, He says, if anyone,
- 19:17however, say, in reply to these things, what then is it
- 19:21meaningless in an accidental thing that the position of names, and the elections of
- 19:26the apostles, and the working of the Lord, and the arrangements of created
- 19:30things are what they are? We answer them, certainly, not but with
- 19:33wisdom and diligence. Twelve, he says, you know it is a coincidence
- 19:37to twelve apostles. No, but with great wisdom and diligence. All things
- 19:44have been made, have clearly been made by God, fitted and prepared for
- 19:48their special purpose. And his word formed both things ancient and those beginning to
- 19:55the latest times. And men ought not to connect those things with the number
- 19:59third. That was one of their big ones. They said they were like
- 20:02thirty gods and thirty heavens, So every time they saw the number thirty,
- 20:04they said. The Bible is given a hidden information. Right, But to
- 20:07harmonize them with what actually exists or with right reason. Nor should they seek
- 20:14to prosecute inquiries respecting God by means of numbers, syllables, and letters,
- 20:19For this is an uncertain mode of proceeding on account of their various and diverse
- 20:25systems, and because every sort of hypothesis may at the present day be in
- 20:30like manner device anyway. In other words, you can come up with anything
- 20:33and make it fit your system, of your own ideas, by anyone,
- 20:37so that they can derive arguments against the truth from the very theories, inasmuch
- 20:42as they may be turned in different directions. But on the contrary, they
- 20:47ought to adapt the numbers themselves and those things which have been formed to the
- 20:51true theory lying before them. For system does not spring out of numbers,
- 20:56but numbers from a system. Nor does God derive his being from things made,
- 21:00but things made from God. For all things originate from one and the
- 21:04same God. But since created things are varied and numerous, they are indeed
- 21:11well fitted and adapted to the whole creation. When viewed individually by are mutually
- 21:17opposite and inharmonious when not okay, And he goes on a little bit and
- 21:21talks. He talks about the harmony of a liar and how you should see
- 21:23things as a whole and not as individual pieces. You know, you gotta
- 21:26have three notes to make a chord. But it's a little flowery. I
- 21:29don't need to get into that. If, however, anyone does not discover
- 21:36the cause of all those things which become objects of investigation, let him reflect
- 21:41that man is infinitely inferior to God, and that he has received grace only
- 21:45in part, and it's not yet equal or similar to his maker. And
- 21:48moreover, that he cannot have experience or form a conception of all things like
- 21:53God, but in the same proportion as he who is formed, but today
- 21:57and received the beginning of his creation, is inferior to him who is uncreated,
- 22:02and who is always the same in that proportion as he as respects knowledge,
- 22:07the faculty of investigating the causes of all things, inferior to him who
- 22:11made him. In other words, we're so inferior to God, we're never
- 22:15going to understand all of God's secrets. And coming up with these systems of
- 22:22numerology is creating confusing confusion. It's not giving you any insect sight. For
- 22:29thou o man are not an uncreated being. Nor didst Thou always coexist with
- 22:33God, as did his own word. But now through his preeminent goodness,
- 22:37receiving the beginning of thy creation, thou dost gradually learn from the Word the
- 22:42dispensations of God, who made thee preserve therefore the proper order of knowledge.
- 22:48And do not, as being ignorant of things really good, seek to rise
- 22:52above God himself, for he cannot be surpassed. Nor did thou seek after
- 22:57anyone above the Creator, for thou wilt not discover such, for the former
- 23:02cannot be contained within limits. Although thou shouldst measure all this universe, and
- 23:07pass through all His creation, and consider in all its depth and height and
- 23:11length, would thou be able to conceive of any other Father above the Father
- 23:17himself, For thou will not be able to think of him fully out.
- 23:21But indulging in trains of reflection opposed to the nature, opposed to thy nature,
- 23:26thou wilt prove thyself foolish. And if thou'll persevere in such a course,
- 23:32thou wilt fall into utter madness. While so deemiest thyself, loftier and
- 23:37greater, greater than the Creator, and imagine that thou canst penetrate beyond his
- 23:41dominion. In other words, you keep on this path, you're going to
- 23:45go nuts. I mean seriously. And a lot of the Cabala types,
- 23:52Yeah, yeah, that's a I mean cabolish They get into this stuff.
- 23:56And even many faithful Jews will tell you these people drive themselves insane trying to
- 24:03discover things that are beyond human knowledge. We can only take what we know
- 24:10from what God tells us and what he guaranteed his truth through the apostles,
- 24:14and what we can see in sense and touch, and we can learn through
- 24:17science and such as was an ability to give in to us by God.
- 24:22We can't go beyond our ability. You know, Saint Augustine when he had
- 24:27written Suma Theologia whatever I was pronounced, you know what I'm trying to say.
- 24:33When he had written the Suma and he had written, I mean,
- 24:34probably the most brilliant man, the Theologian, he looked at it and said,
- 24:40you know, my knowledge of God is like a couple of drops of
- 24:44water compared to the whole ocean. And people think they can find these hidden
- 24:49insights. I'm telling you that's just an invitation to anything from true demonic influence
- 25:00to you know, serious error. And it's based on the presumption that there
- 25:03are hidden things that you're being given permission to know that because you're more special
- 25:11than everybody else, even the apostles in their church. You're not You're Sarah,
- 25:18You're not anyway. He quotes, let's see, Well, it's a
- 25:26Bible verse, I think, is it, John Paul? Yeah, see
- 25:29Paul, knowledge puffeth up, but love aedifith. It is therefore better and
- 25:34more profitable to belong to the simple and unlettered class, and by means of
- 25:40love, to attain nearness to God, than by imagining ourselves learned and skillful
- 25:45to be found among those who are blasphemous against their own God, inasmuch as
- 25:48they conjure up another God as Father. And for this reason Paul exclaim,
- 25:53knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth, not that he meant to inveigh against
- 25:59true knowledge of God, for in that case he would have accused himself.
- 26:03But because he knew that some puffed up by the pretense of knowledge, fall
- 26:07away from the love of God, and imagine that they themselves are perfect for
- 26:11this reason that they set forth an imperfect creator with the view of putting an
- 26:15end to the pride which they feel on account of knowledge of this kind.
- 26:18He says, knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth. Now, there can
- 26:22be no greater conceit than this, that anyone should imagine. He is better
- 26:26and more perfect than he who made him, fashion to him, and imparted
- 26:30life to him, and commanded this very thing into existence. It is therefore
- 26:34better, as I have said, that one should have no knowledge whatever of
- 26:38any one reason why a single thing in creation has been made, but should
- 26:44believe in God and continue in his love. Then, puffed up through the
- 26:48knowledge of this kind, he should fall away from that love which is the
- 26:51life of man, and he should search after no other knowledge except the knowledge
- 26:55of Jesus Christ's the son of God, who was crucified for us. Than
- 26:59by subtle questioning, that then that by subtle questions and hair splitting expressions he
- 27:04should fall into impiety. There was also Saint Augustine who said, it's one
- 27:12can have a false concept of God, like I think it was. Someone
- 27:18said one time, it's like imagine the old man with the white beard,
- 27:21and if that's you're a concept of God the Father, it's it's false and
- 27:26so limited by a human ideas that you're not actually worshiping God. Well,
- 27:30there are many people, I mean from Cambolish to modern Bible scholars to you
- 27:36know, all these Bible code people who are creating a false concept of God
- 27:41because their egos are inflated by believing they have this hidden knowledge. Let me
- 27:49tell you one thing very clear. If you believe something other than what the
- 27:53Catholic Church teaches and what's in the Catechism, you know that they've given us,
- 27:57so we know exactly what's what. You're wrong. You're just playing wrong,
- 28:03and that's well, it's presumption, it's arrogance, and it's actually a
- 28:08mortal sin because you're worshiping a false God based on the creation an image for
- 28:17him by your own ideas. You know, that's what Jesus said to Martin
- 28:22Luther, Why do you seek my keys? I left them with Peter.
- 28:27Martin Luther admitted that his idea, and he changed the very words of Jesus
- 28:33in the Bible to fit his doctrine, thus making himself his own God.
- 28:37And again, Martin Luther was an incredibly evil man that has led millions of
- 28:42people astray, and he admitted doing it. I mean all on, he
- 28:48admitted. He said, I you know, I don't care what the papists
- 28:52say. As he said, you asked him, on what authority I changed
- 28:56the words of Jesus, doctor Luther's authority. He made himself his highest authority
- 29:02and his own God. Not a good man. Martin Luther was a very
- 29:10evil antichrist. Anyway, He goes on and says, for how would it
- 29:15be if anyone gradually elated by the attempts of the kind referred to, should
- 29:21because the Lord said, even the hairs of your head are numbered, set
- 29:25about inquiring into the numbers of hairs on each one's head, and endeavor to
- 29:30search out the reason on account of while some have many and others have few,
- 29:33and some are almost bald. You get where he's going on this,
- 29:37Or again, if anyone should because of the expression which occurs in the gospel,
- 29:41are not two sparrows sold for a farthing, and not one falls to
- 29:45the ground without the will of your father, take occasion to reckon up the
- 29:48numbers of sparrows caught daily. And you know he's making just very obvious points
- 29:55of logic that you can't just pull something randomly out of the Bible and twist
- 30:00it to fit your preconceived notions. If I say, anyone, in obtaining
- 30:06our adherents and consent to this, should proceed to reckon up all the sand
- 30:11and pebbles of the earth, yea discovered, would not his labor be in
- 30:15vain? And would not such a man be justly declared mad and destitute of
- 30:18reason by all possessed of common sense. And the more he occupied himself beyond
- 30:25others in question of this kind, the more he imagines himself to find out
- 30:29beyond others, styling them unskilled, ignorant, and animal beings because they do
- 30:33not enter into his useless labor, the more is he, in reality insane,
- 30:40foolish, struck, as it were, with a thunderbolt sits. Indeed,
- 30:44he does not, in no one point own himself inferior to God,
- 30:48but by the knowledge which he imagines himself to have discovered, he changes God
- 30:53himself and exalts his own opinion over the greatness of the Creator. And I
- 31:00think Saint iron Aus said it far better and probably more charitably than have I.
- 31:06But yeah, just as we, as faithful Catholics, do not use
- 31:12astrology, crystal balls, sorcery, means of the occult. We should not
- 31:22fall into this trap of hidden meanings and messages in the Bible. Some books
- 31:30of the Bible are symbolic and hard to understand. Book of Daniel, Book
- 31:33of Revelations, especially how many people, how many people now have said throughout
- 31:40time they found a hidden message in the Book of Revelation and the world was
- 31:42going to end on a certain day. Well, it happened so much in
- 31:47nineteen hundred that it almost caused an economic depression. It spread among prides of
- 31:53churches and ministers that January first of the year nineteen hundred was going to be
- 31:59the last day of the world, or I guess the day before that,
- 32:01you know, the world would end Jesus coming back, you know, January
- 32:07one, nineteen oh one, the world would end. December thirty first,
- 32:12nineteen hundred. Tens of thousands of people, probably hundreds of thousands of people
- 32:17sold all they had, gave everything they had to churches or to the poor,
- 32:22to charities, stayed up waiting for the coming of Jesus. This is
- 32:28in America, you know. And well, January one came along, and
- 32:32January two came along, and they were in pretty bad straits. They had
- 32:37no they had quit their jobs, and they had no food, and they
- 32:40had lost their houses. And this was a widespread phenomenon throughout the United States
- 32:47because people thought they had found this code in the Bible. And it's happened
- 32:51several times. I mean when the year two thousand came along, there were
- 32:55many many especially it seems like it was Church of God. They were real
- 33:01big up around Mount Isla, North Carolina, and then Billboard's all over,
- 33:06Billboard's all up and down nine five saying that you know the world was going
- 33:09to end January one, two thousand whatever. And of course that whole millennium
- 33:16scare, the whole thing where the computers weren't supposed to work and everything was
- 33:20going to fall apart. That, you know, Pat Robertson and them were
- 33:22really pushing. I mean people were freaked out just because the date was the
- 33:29calendar page was turning to the year two thousand or two thousand and one,
- 33:34whatever it was. He was two thousand. Yeah, Well they were wrong.
- 33:39They never said they were wrong. I don't remember any of these people
- 33:42that were, you know, doomsday preppers on religious programs on you know,
- 33:46cable TV coming on the next day and say, boy, howney, I
- 33:49got that wrong. And they didn't lose their congregations, and the donations and
- 33:54money kept pouring in. Just like you know, all know how much respect
- 34:00I have for Pat Robertson. I think though he was a really good man,
- 34:04very mistaken. I mean, I remember when God said, he said,
- 34:07God told me I'm going to be president of United States, and he
- 34:12pulled here's a Bible prophecy which implies that I'm going to be president of the
- 34:15United States. Yeah, he didn't win. He never came back and said,
- 34:19well, either God got it wrong or I did. He just went
- 34:22on like nothing ever happened. You know, we really it's presumption. It's
- 34:29a sin of presumption to think, you know better than what Jesus actually said
- 34:34in his plain words in the Bible, the apostles actually said in the plain
- 34:37words of the Bible. I mean things that are not symbolic, things that
- 34:40are really easy to understand, or what the Church teaches. If the Church
- 34:45says it's right, it's right. If the Church is wrong, it's wrong.
- 34:47If the Church is true, it's true. Etc. And you know,
- 34:52it's very much part of human nature. To feel special, to feel
- 34:58exalted, to feel very self satisfied because you think you know a secret that
- 35:01other people don't know. Conspiracy theories or whatever. Now, you know,
- 35:07like a Steve Bannon always says, there no conspiracies, but there are also
- 35:09no coincidences. Sometimes they are actually out to get you. But when you
- 35:15when you think that, you know you're much wiser than everyone else around.
- 35:22You're the anointed. That's why people join the Masonic Order. And really that's
- 35:29the scent of our first parents. The serpent told them if they ate of
- 35:32the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would be like God's.
- 35:37Well, when someone picks up the Bible and they seem they think they
- 35:40found hidden messages and meanings in there, that the whole rest of them,
- 35:45humanity for the last two thousand years, was just too ignorant to find out
- 35:47on their own. That's the same thing. And it's making oneself, one's
- 35:52opinion, one's own god. And that's you know, that's a failure to
- 35:59adhere to the first commandment, that will shall help have no other gods before
- 36:01me. Well, it depends on how you count the commandments, you know.
- 36:05Some people like to say it's one or two. It doesn't matter.
- 36:07It doesn't matter again, whatever the church says, just believe it. It's
- 36:10like I always say when I'll get into debates with people and they'll say,
- 36:15you know, baptism isn't necessary. I say, what do Jesus say?
- 36:22Jesus said you must be born of water, you know, born again of
- 36:24water. Jesus had said, go forth and baptize Jesus. If Jesus said
- 36:29it, do it, Just do it. Just believe it. You either
- 36:32believe that God is God, in which case he is incapable of lying because
- 36:37any God is the creator of all things. Anything he says is absolute truth,
- 36:44or you don't. That's yeah. You know, if Jesus said it,
- 36:49believe it. Do it. If the church says it, believe it.
- 36:52Do it. If someone come up and said, I have a secret
- 36:54knowledge, a hidden meaning that's been given to me, say whoa hold on,
- 36:59Simon the Martin Luther, evil man, get away from me just enough.
- 37:05You're ignorant, you're misled, you're foolish, you're evil, you know,
- 37:08go away. I mistake with the truth because I can. As as
- 37:13Jesus said, those who keep my commandments are those who love me. Anyway,
- 37:20y'all have an excellent evening and i'll talk to you next time. Remember
- 37:25the words of Saint Padre Pio that I always lead to quote, Pray,
- 37:30hope, and don't worry.
