- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry Mackie. It is time for us to
- 0:02Speaker 1: go to God in prayer, and as always, I invite
- 0:05Speaker 1: you to join along with me in prayer. You know,
- 0:07Speaker 1: it's a day after Christmas. Lots of people are making returns,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and I heard a story recently about a woman who
- 0:14Speaker 1: decided to return something she bought for Christmas. Not to
- 0:19Speaker 1: a store, but she wanted to return it to God.
- 0:22Speaker 1: She said, Lord, I want to return the fear I've
- 0:25Speaker 1: been carrying all year. I don't want to take it
- 0:27Speaker 1: into a new season. See that's when it hit me.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Christmas isn't just about gifts we give or receipt. It's
- 0:33Speaker 1: also about what we're really finally ready to give back.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Some of us need to return worry. We've held onto
- 0:41Speaker 1: it like a receipt. We can't let go of concern
- 0:43Speaker 1: about our children, concern about our finances, our health, or
- 0:47Speaker 1: what tomorrow might bring. But Scripture reminds us cast all
- 0:50Speaker 1: your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. Christmas
- 0:54Speaker 1: is an invitation to lay it down. Others may need
- 0:58Speaker 1: to return disappointment, things that didn't work out the way
- 1:01Speaker 1: we prayed. People we hoped would be at the table
- 1:05Speaker 1: this year. That aren't there. But the miracle of Christmas
- 1:10Speaker 1: is that God still shows up even in our broken expectations.
- 1:14Speaker 1: He entered the world through a stable, not a palace,
- 1:18Speaker 1: just to be close to us. And maybe, just maybe
- 1:21Speaker 1: there's something God wants you to return. Joy that got
- 1:25Speaker 1: buried on the responsibilities, peace that was stolen by the
- 1:29Speaker 1: pace of life, hope you thought was expired. The Angel said,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I bring you good news of great joy, which shall
- 1:38Speaker 1: be to all people, not just some people, not perfect people,
- 1:43Speaker 1: but all people this Christmas season. I know you've unwrapped
- 1:51Speaker 1: the gifts. I know you've eaten the meals. But I
- 1:53Speaker 1: want you to take a moment to make your own
- 1:57Speaker 1: Christmas return. List give God what you were never meant
- 2:01Speaker 1: to carry, and receive what only He can give, Because
- 2:06Speaker 1: when we return our burdens to God, Christmas returns to us.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Oh Father God, we thank you for the gift of
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Christmas season, not just the lights of the celebrations,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but the reminder that you came close. Today we return
- 2:21Speaker 1: to you where we were never meant to carry. We
- 2:24Speaker 1: give you our worries, We give you our disappointments, our
- 2:28Speaker 1: unanswered questions, and every fear that has followed us into
- 2:31Speaker 1: this season. God. In exchange, Lord, we receive what you promised,
- 2:35Speaker 1: your peace that passes understanding, your joy that strengthens our hearts.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You're a hope that never runs out. For those listening, God,
- 2:43Speaker 1: who feel weary and well doing, wrapthom in your presence.
- 2:47Speaker 1: For those who feel alone, Remind them that emanual God
- 2:50Speaker 1: with us is still here. M God. Let this Christmas
- 2:56Speaker 1: season return to our hearts, return to our home wounds,
- 3:01Speaker 1: return to our faith. We trust you, and we thank you,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and we receive you a new today in Jesus' name. Amen, Amen,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and Amen,
