- 0:12Speaker 2: Man special guests in here. We got Blue and Exile
- 0:15Speaker 2: in the building.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Well well oh yeah, ye years was up with a
- 0:18Speaker 3: keV what's up? Manill it to you guys. I know recently,
- 0:24Speaker 3: you guys just celebrated what year anniversary of Below the
- 0:27Speaker 3: Heavens was it?
- 0:29Speaker 1: We just celebrated at the fifteenth, but it's I think
- 0:32Speaker 1: it's the eighteenth now or seventeenth, seventeenth.
- 0:35Speaker 3: It's such a classic album, man, Oh good looks man? Yeah,
- 0:38Speaker 3: all these years later. It's crazy because I just think
- 0:40Speaker 3: I think about, like how like an underground classic, Like
- 0:43Speaker 3: not a lot of people can say that, like the
- 0:45Speaker 3: strength of like how amazing a project was like landing
- 0:48Speaker 3: them on a like I feel like that Double XL
- 0:51Speaker 3: cover was important because you were like a representation of
- 0:55Speaker 3: like to me, like a like a demographic of hip
- 0:58Speaker 3: hop that like Double XL's kind of for about you know. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 3: who I was on your Freshman cover?
- 1:03Speaker 1: Oh let me see Asher Roth Mickey Fax.
- 1:06Speaker 3: That was that was like the second one.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, that was the second one, yeap, yup, yup.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that was like wile A was on it, right,
- 1:14Speaker 2: wile A was on it, Cutty was on it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, very blog era.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely that time yup, Yeah, that's.
- 1:22Speaker 3: That was actually the cover that kind of like, uh
- 1:25Speaker 3: made that ship because the first cover I feel like
- 1:26Speaker 3: kind of came and went I think like Crooked I
- 1:28Speaker 3: was on it, Joel was on it. But the second
- 1:30Speaker 3: cover I feel like kind of really kicked off like
- 1:34Speaker 3: the wave of that freshman class meaning.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, right, I feel that. I feel that. Yeah, that
- 1:39Speaker 1: was dope. Man. It was an honor to be a
- 1:41Speaker 1: part of that class man, you know what I mean?
- 1:43Speaker 3: Man, You guys, uh, obviously just put out a new album.
- 1:48Speaker 3: What what was What was it about the timing to
- 1:50Speaker 3: give the fans something that they've been asking for in
- 1:53Speaker 3: twenty twenty four?
- 1:55Speaker 1: X always say, you know, we dropped it because I
- 1:57Speaker 1: finally stopped dropping albums for so he had a little
- 2:01Speaker 1: window to drop something. You know what I mean, I've
- 2:02Speaker 1: been dropping so much lately.
- 2:05Speaker 3: You have you been super active? Yeah?
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, man, you know what I mean, been going hard?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Uh have my son Man and I just turned it up,
- 2:12Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 2:13Speaker 3: Would you say, because sometimes it happens the other way.
- 2:15Speaker 3: You'll have kids and then you'll be like, I'm gonna
- 2:17Speaker 3: kick back.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah for real, for real, you know what I mean.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But you gotta pay those bills extra mouth to feed, man,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 2:23Speaker 3: So would you say that the having a kid motivated
- 2:26Speaker 3: you to have more output musically?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. I just turned it up. I went an
- 2:31Speaker 1: overdrive when my son was born.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 1: You know, I recorded like, uh seven albums last year,
- 2:37Speaker 1: that's you know what I mean.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just telling you the album with Evidence
- 2:41Speaker 3: is special. Man. Oh thanks, some real fucking you know,
- 2:44Speaker 3: for anybody who's like a fan of like like early
- 2:47Speaker 3: two thousands, late nineties, just La boombap shit gave me
- 2:51Speaker 3: like real remnants.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Oh, word up, word up for sure. Yeah, definitely.
- 2:54Speaker 3: What's the difference between like working on with someone like
- 2:56Speaker 3: EV and working with you know, one of the greatest
- 2:58Speaker 3: to ever touch an NPC right now?
- 3:00Speaker 4: Man?
- 3:02Speaker 1: There's a lot of similarities actually, you know what I mean.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Both of them are perfectionists in their own right, you
- 3:07Speaker 1: know what I mean. But the difference. I always try
- 3:12Speaker 1: to make the music different, you know what I mean,
- 3:14Speaker 1: And the music is already different, you know what I mean,
- 3:16Speaker 1: between Evan and Exile or you know Shaffique or you
- 3:20Speaker 1: know Roy Royal with me, I tend to work with
- 3:23Speaker 1: one producer on a project.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Which is important. I feel like it's the lost art form.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, man, it helps. It helps keep the consistency, you
- 3:31Speaker 1: know what I mean. And a project. You know, I
- 3:33Speaker 1: love that. I love the consistency of an album that
- 3:36Speaker 1: you could just put it on and you get the
- 3:38Speaker 1: whole vibe. You just listen to the whole tape, you
- 3:40Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Uh X for you man? Like you? I feel like
- 3:45Speaker 3: are somehow one of the more underrated producers in the game.
- 3:50Speaker 3: What outside of working with Blue? Like, what else have
- 3:52Speaker 3: you been working on? What else you got going on?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Back recently? Uh?
- 3:58Speaker 4: Let's see uh uh. Me and Fashion have been starting
- 4:04Speaker 4: to work a little bit more.
- 4:08Speaker 3: He's on the album right, Yeah, he's on the album
- 4:10Speaker 3: as well.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Me and Blue still got a whole bunch more. We're
- 4:14Speaker 4: still working a lot as well. Yeah, we got some
- 4:18Speaker 4: more in store. I did an Exile radio album where
- 4:22Speaker 4: I sampled everything off of like LA Radio Waves, the drums,
- 4:25Speaker 4: the high hats, and I got.
- 4:26Speaker 3: A part two cooking wait when you say you sampled
- 4:30Speaker 3: everything off of so you would like just listen to
- 4:32Speaker 3: the radio and sample straight from radio de Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Wow yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a it's a slept on,
- 4:39Speaker 4: it's a slept on, a gem of a It's all instrumental, yeah, instrumental.
- 4:44Speaker 4: But my goal was to try to have like a
- 4:47Speaker 4: real message with the music. So I was able to
- 4:50Speaker 4: kind of like manipulate what I heard on the radio
- 4:53Speaker 4: into a message that I stood by.
- 4:55Speaker 3: So well, I gotta check that out. Yeah, you know
- 4:57Speaker 3: it's has anybody trying rapping over that ship?
- 4:59Speaker 4: Yeah? Actually Evidence did a full album to that.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Really, yeah, what he did.
- 5:06Speaker 4: But then at the same time, I was doing an
- 5:09Speaker 4: album where I was getting different artists to wrap on
- 5:12Speaker 4: it as well. I put it out It's called am FM,
- 5:16Speaker 4: and I fucked it all up. I should have just
- 5:18Speaker 4: I should have put that out because now I'm trying to.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Get it's not out.
- 5:22Speaker 4: We only used some of it.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, he did a whole album just to that. He did.
- 5:27Speaker 3: What in the world in which Evidence is not rapping
- 5:29Speaker 3: as much as I'd like him too. That sounds amazing.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you can hear some of it. It's called AMFM.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Exile AMFM, So.
- 5:39Speaker 3: There are some of the evidence, but he did a
- 5:41Speaker 3: whole project.
- 5:42Speaker 4: He did it was dope. Man. I was just like
- 5:46Speaker 4: so involved in the project I was already doing. I'm like,
- 5:48Speaker 4: oh man, I'm already doing this, but I always kind
- 5:51Speaker 4: of kicked myself for it and let that one drop Blue.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I'm curious like your Oh, I guess both of you
- 5:56Speaker 3: guys growing up in southern California. I would say you
- 5:59Speaker 3: guys were kind of like the generation. I mean, you
- 6:02Speaker 3: guys are like blog era, Yeah, very much so right,
- 6:05Speaker 3: And prior to you guys, there was like dilated people's
- 6:07Speaker 3: in J five and Freestyle Fellowship and all that. What
- 6:12Speaker 3: were some of your bigger inspirations in terms of just
- 6:15Speaker 3: like the southern California hip hop scene that I feel
- 6:17Speaker 3: like doesn't get enough shine.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Everybody that was coming out man, J five, self scientific.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Self scientific for sure, come on.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Man, the Stone Store, Roster, Oh no, Med you know
- 6:30Speaker 1: what I mean, Mad Lib Man there from the Bay, Yes,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and I from the Bay.
- 6:37Speaker 4: King T and DJ Pooh. That's kind of one of
- 6:40Speaker 4: my first inspirations to want to do a full production album.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Actually really shout to the Liquid crew man, Yeah, yeah, serious. Yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 3: even all that like era or right before I'm talking
- 6:50Speaker 3: about just like like the I feel like there was
- 6:53Speaker 3: like such a dope underground scene in La. Oh yeah
- 6:56Speaker 3: I was.
- 6:57Speaker 4: I was a teenager standing out in front of the
- 6:59Speaker 4: club selling tapes out of my backpack, mixtapes and that's
- 7:02Speaker 4: what got me and Alo popping off. We had a
- 7:05Speaker 4: group called Eminon and one tape would be a mixtape
- 7:08Speaker 4: of everybody that we fucked with, and the other side
- 7:10Speaker 4: would be all of our songs. So I'd be like, Yo,
- 7:13Speaker 4: buy this tape. It's got all these cats, and then
- 7:15Speaker 4: they were able.
- 7:16Speaker 3: To listen to the other side.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah, this is this is a pre you know, internet era.
- 7:20Speaker 4: So we went viral by our you know, the tapes
- 7:23Speaker 4: being dubbed and dubbed and dubbed, right, and those are
- 7:26Speaker 4: the days now.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Alos on the album, right, Alos on.
- 7:28Speaker 4: The album as well. Yeah. But back then, yeah, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 4: Project blowed living legends. You know.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I just remember like as a kid going to Fat Beats.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I grew up in Phoenix, so we can't we drove
- 7:39Speaker 3: out here to go to uh. I think it was
- 7:42Speaker 3: the ex Oh yeah, it was the Dilated People's Expansion
- 7:44Speaker 3: Team released like week and we went to Fat Beats
- 7:48Speaker 3: and I went to Fat Beats for the first time
- 7:49Speaker 3: and it was like fucking I was like, this is
- 7:51Speaker 3: the greatest place on earth. And there was very much
- 7:54Speaker 3: like I remember, like dudes selling like their ship like
- 7:58Speaker 3: to the people in line, like that was like a
- 7:59Speaker 3: real thing.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, those are the days, man. I
- 8:03Speaker 4: would I would easily press the button to get rid
- 8:06Speaker 4: of Internet and just slank tapes out of the backpack. Again, No,
- 8:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Well, for I wonder too, could you guys have kind
- 8:12Speaker 3: of seen different sides of the music industry in terms
- 8:17Speaker 3: of just kind of evolution of how it's being monetized, right,
- 8:20Speaker 3: like streaming and you kind of hear streaming obviously it's
- 8:25Speaker 3: a little predatory in the way you get paid. But
- 8:27Speaker 3: there is like less of a barrier between fans and
- 8:31Speaker 3: artists now, like you could just hit upload, I guess,
- 8:34Speaker 3: you know, as opposed to like we got to press
- 8:36Speaker 3: up CDs and we gotta press up vine and all that.
- 8:38Speaker 3: What would you guys say, like, for like a, I
- 8:42Speaker 3: guess the business model of your music? How has it
- 8:45Speaker 3: changed over the years?
- 8:48Speaker 1: For me? The first the first album we did below
- 8:51Speaker 1: the heavens. Right when it dropped, they told us, you know,
- 8:54Speaker 1: iTunes was just getting popping, you know what I mean.
- 8:57Speaker 3: It was like, oh seven right.
- 8:58Speaker 1: They put up they put our tape on on uh
- 9:01Speaker 1: on iTunes. I don't even think it was.
- 9:03Speaker 4: And our album leaked, so it was actually like the
- 9:06Speaker 4: blog era that really saved us and championed us, Like
- 9:09Speaker 4: our album leaked and okay player chat rooms is really.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Yeah, blue and bus up.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Like we we were on the road touring before the
- 9:17Speaker 4: album even dropped, and there was cats who knew the
- 9:20Speaker 4: word the lyrics to the songs we were doing, and
- 9:22Speaker 4: me and me and we were bugging out.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Yeah, we were debuting the songs and.
- 9:26Speaker 3: You were thinking that you guys were doing it for
- 9:28Speaker 3: the first time and people know.
- 9:29Speaker 1: The lyrics exactly exactly.
- 9:31Speaker 3: The whole tour message boards were crazy. Yeah yeah, yeah, no,
- 9:36Speaker 3: that's how like my name Bootleg keV I got it
- 9:38Speaker 3: because I was I would go on those message boards
- 9:40Speaker 3: download mixtapes because it was like the mixtape era. I
- 9:44Speaker 3: would just with little money I had go buy some CDs,
- 9:47Speaker 3: burn them.
- 9:47Speaker 4: I go to the spot that's that face to face
- 9:52Speaker 4: energy like g UNIT radio and like that.
- 9:55Speaker 3: That's all that fifty ship and even.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah that's oh yeah, fifty cents.
- 10:01Speaker 3: It's crazy. So yeah, because for people who don't know,
- 10:02Speaker 3: okay player was, it was kind of like the I
- 10:04Speaker 3: would say, like the most important hip hop site for
- 10:07Speaker 3: like a decade, because like I feel like when I
- 10:08Speaker 3: was a little kid and we had internet access to school,
- 10:11Speaker 3: we go to okay Player.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Mm hmm yeah. I would go to okay Player on
- 10:15Speaker 1: Stone Store. That was it, man.
- 10:16Speaker 3: And then like I even feel like you could. I
- 10:19Speaker 3: feel like we used to chat with people on okay Player,
- 10:21Speaker 3: like you could chat with other people, which was like
- 10:24Speaker 3: weird because like I never chatted with nobody, but you
- 10:27Speaker 3: could go in there and talk with motherfuckers about like whatever. Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 3: that was the roots site.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Right, yeah, that was the roots.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, damn, that's crazy because I'm trying to think.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So O seven was like I feel like the blogg
- 10:41Speaker 3: error really started to crack and like eight on nine,
- 10:44Speaker 3: huh because O seven was still pretty early, like you said,
- 10:48Speaker 3: that was more like more message boards, like you know,
- 10:52Speaker 3: still hand to hand mixtapes and shit like that, and
- 10:55Speaker 3: like people were had like bear share and like what LimeWire.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and all that Twitter and ig started cracking
- 11:04Speaker 1: around eight on nine too.
- 11:05Speaker 3: For sure, yeah, oh nine for Twitter, Yeah yeah, no,
- 11:08Speaker 3: it was definitely uh, it was definitely a time. But
- 11:10Speaker 3: fast forward now, Like for you guys, you guys have
- 11:14Speaker 3: very few people can say they have like a classic
- 11:16Speaker 3: body of work. You guys have a classic body of
- 11:18Speaker 3: work that I feel like, you know, if we look
- 11:22Speaker 3: at the way that Illmatic has been like repackaged and
- 11:24Speaker 3: put out every time, it's like a university timestamp.
- 11:29Speaker 1: U huh.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I thought it was dope that you guys put out
- 11:32Speaker 3: like new hard copies and tapes and new merch for
- 11:35Speaker 3: the album. Oh yeah, for you guys, like, how has
- 11:38Speaker 3: the business change being like an underground quote unquote hip
- 11:42Speaker 3: hop artist in twenty twenty four as opposed to seven?
- 11:44Speaker 1: You know, the streaming game is what changed everything. That's
- 11:50Speaker 1: the biggest change, just the streaming, you know what I mean.
- 11:53Speaker 1: It's like, uh, you you you learn all these tools
- 11:56Speaker 1: to like sell your merch, you know what I'm saying,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, your music is just being
- 12:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean, right almost for free ten
- 12:04Speaker 1: dollars a month.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Because you're really not making much money off of streams.
- 12:08Speaker 3: For people who don't know, like a million streams is
- 12:09Speaker 3: like thirty eight hundred dollars on Spotify yep. So it's
- 12:12Speaker 3: like you got to kind of do everything else around
- 12:16Speaker 3: the music. The music is kind of like the commercial
- 12:18Speaker 3: for the shirt or the hoodeah or real the vinyl
- 12:22Speaker 3: exactly exactly.
- 12:23Speaker 1: The music is starting to play the backdrop, you know
- 12:25Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But we try to keep it in
- 12:27Speaker 1: the forefront though, you know what I mean.
- 12:29Speaker 3: That's dope.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Man.
- 12:31Speaker 3: What are you guys most excited about with this new
- 12:33Speaker 3: album and the fans been loving it?
- 12:35Speaker 1: The fans have been loving it, man, I'm really really
- 12:38Speaker 1: excited to hit the roll with it because of how
- 12:40Speaker 1: much they're loving it, you know what I mean, how
- 12:41Speaker 1: much impact we're getting, how much like a input we're
- 12:45Speaker 1: getting already from the album. Yeah, I mean, people are
- 12:47Speaker 1: telling us it's just amazing, bro.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a dope album. I listened to it last night.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Great album. Oh good, love my workout, great great body
- 12:54Speaker 3: of work for.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Sure Ward it up, Ward it up. Yeah. Man, excited
- 12:57Speaker 1: to rock those joints, you know what I'm saying. Yep,
- 13:00Speaker 1: that's me.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Are you guys putting it tour together?
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yeah? We were leaving this Friday.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Oh so how many yeah? Shit, how many dates?
- 13:08Speaker 4: About like seventeen dates? We're doing a Frisco October four,
- 13:14Speaker 4: San Francisco.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Nice.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Yeah, then yeah, just going all across the country. You know,
- 13:20Speaker 4: go look up the dates on Dirty Signs, Ohrecords dot
- 13:23Speaker 4: com or just hit the link in our bio XIL.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I'm curious. You're one of the goats when it comes
- 13:28Speaker 3: to like just working an NPC. How have you, if
- 13:35Speaker 3: at all, changed, because technolog I feel like with DJ's
- 13:38Speaker 3: like DJ's got Serrado and then shit just kind of
- 13:41Speaker 3: changed for everybody. And then now we got controllers, where
- 13:43Speaker 3: before it was like we had a turntables and the
- 13:45Speaker 3: mixer and now there's just one piece of equipment. Have
- 13:48Speaker 3: you switched up your process and making beats at all
- 13:51Speaker 3: over the years or is it still just the same.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Well, as far as the live show, I do live NPC,
- 13:57Speaker 4: you know, no loops or anything, just like live per cushion.
- 14:00Speaker 3: It's fine type shit.
- 14:01Speaker 4: And I'm still lugging around the heavy ass NPC two
- 14:05Speaker 4: thousand uh for tours. As far as production, I still
- 14:09Speaker 4: use the NPC two thousand XCEL, but I have started
- 14:13Speaker 4: messing around with a little bit of DOS just to
- 14:16Speaker 4: help me work with live musicians and whatnot.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I was talking to my dude Bugs the Beasts, who's
- 14:21Speaker 3: a big producers and a lot of stuff for Kanye
- 14:22Speaker 3: and he works exclusively. He used to be an NPC
- 14:25Speaker 3: two thousand. He works exclusively off of the the NPC
- 14:29Speaker 3: that has the speaker in it.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I want to get that. I need
- 14:32Speaker 4: to get that.
- 14:33Speaker 3: He's like, dude, He's like, I take this ship with
- 14:35Speaker 3: me everywhere. He's like, and I'm making beats on it.
- 14:38Speaker 3: But the best part is it is like I could
- 14:40Speaker 3: plug in in whatever session and everything I have right there.
- 14:43Speaker 4: And it's about, you know, three fourths less the weight
- 14:47Speaker 4: of NPC.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And I and it's got a battery. Yeah, so you
- 14:51Speaker 3: don't have to have you don't have to have a power.
- 14:53Speaker 4: I'm sleeping. I gotta do it. I gotta Getah.
- 14:55Speaker 3: There's no power outlet, right, so it's like, if it's charged,
- 14:57Speaker 3: you could make take that bitch anywhere.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 3: So yeah, no, what what what you said? You do
- 15:02Speaker 3: some of the digital ship, Like what do you what
- 15:04Speaker 3: do you use?
- 15:05Speaker 4: I mess around with Serado.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Sample samples home. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know a lot
- 15:09Speaker 3: of people love Ableton. Yeah, Ableton looks crazy though.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I've made a couple of beats on that I
- 15:15Speaker 4: don't you know, I can't.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, Uh, for you guys, man, who I mean being
- 15:23Speaker 3: your guys's taste and what you guys are into and
- 15:25Speaker 3: kind of what we know you guys to be making.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Is there any artists from the newer generation that you
- 15:29Speaker 3: guys are fans of that you guys are checking for
- 15:32Speaker 3: you kind of man?
- 15:33Speaker 1: All the new artists I check them out and they
- 15:37Speaker 1: already got twelve albums out, bro, So I don't know
- 15:39Speaker 1: if they knew or not. I'm thinking like Code of
- 15:43Speaker 1: the Friend, He's hard, Navy blue, you know what I mean.
- 15:46Speaker 1: The Russell L Russell.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Russell's got a lot of albums.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I'm saying. It has been out
- 15:53Speaker 1: for a minute. I feel like, you know, I just
- 15:55Speaker 1: get hip to him and I'm like they new to me.
- 15:57Speaker 3: But you know, no, he's a new artist. But he's
- 15:59Speaker 3: also got like yeah, oh yeah, sixty projects or something.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Man, that's going hard bro.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you know what's about him is he
- 16:08Speaker 3: does it's very similar to you. Is he'll work with
- 16:10Speaker 3: like a producer, for a whole album, yeah, or an artist.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, so.
- 16:14Speaker 3: You should you should tap in with the Russell. I
- 16:16Speaker 3: think you guys should have some ship.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that'd be do I'm down, Yeah, that'd be hard.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Is there anybody you want to work with us, like
- 16:21Speaker 3: Younger that you kind of checking for? Yeah?
- 16:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Huey brissh Nana, who's on our album.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Not a dope, who's dope as dope?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Hell yeah?
- 16:36Speaker 4: And uh, the cat Mugs worked with its crazy too.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Oh Ross Fresco Ros Fresco.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Yeah, the Mugs been on his ship man just quietly
- 16:45Speaker 3: just putting.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Out he he's low Keith to got man Like, is
- 16:49Speaker 4: this longevity in the game?
- 16:50Speaker 3: And I just ran into Mayhem Lorent at the fucking
- 16:53Speaker 3: Rouse by my house, which is right by Mugs studio
- 16:55Speaker 3: in Burbank. How's the funk are you doing? Is I'm
- 16:58Speaker 3: working on album? Bugs?
- 17:00Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, that's my idol.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I'm curious for you.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Blue.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Like the Freshman covers always like a weird thing because
- 17:11Speaker 3: it kind of sets up these like expectations for people commercially,
- 17:16Speaker 3: did you feel like there was like a gift in
- 17:18Speaker 3: a curse to kind of like being on that cover
- 17:21Speaker 3: at that time.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, nah, I was love, you know what I mean.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I always felt I was just mad love. They were
- 17:26Speaker 1: just showing, you know what I mean, Like I'm underground,
- 17:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I wasn't like trying
- 17:33Speaker 1: to be commercial or anything. We just got a Warner
- 17:35Speaker 1: Brothers deal at the time, so it was like it
- 17:38Speaker 1: was fitting, you know what I mean. But you know,
- 17:40Speaker 1: we still kept it true to being underground.
- 17:42Speaker 4: He was extra underground with it, extra artsy. He did
- 17:46Speaker 4: his back turned to the camera and history for the
- 17:49Speaker 4: double XCEL. I loved this though.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Who was it? I wonder because I don't remember all
- 17:54Speaker 3: the way back then did the ciphers? Was everybody together?
- 17:57Speaker 3: Because I know now they split.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Out an interview for the interview.
- 18:00Speaker 3: But the cipher like did like who did you wrap
- 18:01Speaker 3: with for your cipher?
- 18:02Speaker 1: You No, I wasn't even a cipher. They just had us.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Everyone did an individual rap.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Yeah makes such yep.
- 18:08Speaker 3: It's a long time ago, fuck man. Yeah, Yeah, it's
- 18:12Speaker 3: crazy because like I feel like the music industry can
- 18:15Speaker 3: have like its ups and downs. Do you guys feel
- 18:19Speaker 3: like you've ever been through like a point in time
- 18:21Speaker 3: in your careers where like you were thinking about maybe
- 18:24Speaker 3: giving up or quitting music, just maybe moving on.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I was actually thinking about becoming a producer
- 18:31Speaker 1: back in the days, and then my studio ended up
- 18:33Speaker 1: getting robbed, bro, So I had like had this studio
- 18:38Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, man, you know, And it was weird because
- 18:42Speaker 1: I was transitioning into like being a DJ and a producer,
- 18:47Speaker 1: and then all my equipment got jack so then it
- 18:49Speaker 1: was just me and the raps. That's all I had left,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I had to step
- 18:54Speaker 1: right back into it.
- 18:55Speaker 3: You know what I'm crazy.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yep. I felt it was like it was a weird
- 19:00Speaker 1: divine intervention right there, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:02Speaker 3: It like a fork in the road, almost like Verse
- 19:05Speaker 3: telling you, like, no, you gotta still wrap. Yeah you're
- 19:07Speaker 3: not done yet. Yeah you're too good man looks yeah. Man,
- 19:13Speaker 3: all right, So tours come in, people can go. You guys.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I'm sure you guys are gonna be going overseas too.

- 19:44Speaker 4: Is this was?
- 19:45Speaker 2: Hey?
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yeah? You know it's just it's just me on the decks,
- 19:47Speaker 4: you know, giving Blue some some classic beats. Flip says,
- 19:50Speaker 4: he's got this freestyle that's crazy.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Let's get right to it, man, we're gonna have that's
- 19:54Speaker 3: a separate YouTube video. But yeah, make sure you go
- 19:58Speaker 3: follow these guys. Man. You guys are fucking amazing. Man.
- 20:02Speaker 3: So I'm glad you guys put out a new album
- 20:04Speaker 3: and apparently there's more new music on the way.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 20:07Speaker 3: How much unreleased Blue and Xile is like on hard drives?
- 20:10Speaker 1: Do not even ask? Oh?
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah, over one hundred joints for sure. Wow, But I
- 20:16Speaker 4: think about like, yeah, we got about seventy that's gonna
- 20:20Speaker 4: be coming up.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Is there any other music blew out? I mean outside
- 20:23Speaker 3: of working with Xile, do you have anything else on
- 20:24Speaker 3: the way.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it is the same way we hit
- 20:28Speaker 1: this year, We're trying to hit next year, so it's
- 20:31Speaker 1: gonna be stacked.
- 20:31Speaker 3: You and Evidence got more shit coming.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Me and Evidence. We're talking about it about bringing up
- 20:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 20:37Speaker 3: You know what you should since you kind of wanted
- 20:38Speaker 3: to be a producer, you should say fuck it and
- 20:41Speaker 3: flip flip the script the next album. Huh your beats
- 20:44Speaker 3: his wraps. I like it there it is. Man. Appreciate
