- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Tuesday.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Are you having one of those mornings where you're dreading
- 0:09Speaker 2: the negotiation to get the kids up and out the
- 0:11Speaker 2: door on time for a bus or perhaps maybe a
- 0:14Speaker 2: carpool or something? Well, coffee first. We'll get through it
- 0:18Speaker 2: all together this morning here at 97.1 Wash FM. Toby
- 0:22Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning, why are you feeling good today?
- 0:24Speaker 2: Call us, tell us. There's always something to feel great

- 0:29Speaker 2: what would that be for you on this Tuesday morning?
- 0:31Speaker 3: Costume arrive for my son. It fits perfectly. So check
- 0:35Speaker 3: that off the list of things to worry about as
- 0:38Speaker 3: the weekend approaches.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Hallelujah. I have got the components for my costume. I
- 0:44Speaker 2: am ready, I think, although I have not tried them on.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Oh, that's the part that you got to do.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Well, I'm curious if I need to take the There's
- 0:53Speaker 2: one part of it I need to go to the
- 0:55Speaker 2: Zips dry cleaners and get that in by nine and
- 0:58Speaker 2: out by five so I can rock that on Halloween.
- 1:02Speaker 2: But more on that later, I'm sure. No, I'm feeling
- 1:06Speaker 2: good because once again this weekend, I did some bed rotting.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And then yesterday I felt just, I mean, Sunday, I
- 1:13Speaker 2: just felt very groggy. I don't know what it was.
- 1:17Speaker 2: That much time doing nothing, just relaxing and catching up
- 1:21Speaker 2: on sleep. I did not realize that it could take
- 1:24Speaker 2: a toll. It could take that much out of you.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Who knew sleep was hard work? Anyway, but it's good
- 1:30Speaker 2: to be rested. And that's what counts on a Tuesday
- 1:33Speaker 2: morning here at 97.1 Wash FM. Let's get into it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: We'll start with the news. Top stories at the top
- 1:39Speaker 2: of the hour. We've got you covered right around 10
- 1:41Speaker 2: past every hour this morning. What's going on?
- 1:43Speaker 3: A new survey reveals the impulse purchases Americans regret the most.
- 1:48Speaker 3: And I'll share those with you coming up in just
- 1:50Speaker 3: a few.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Former FBI Director James Comey is facing new federal charges
- 2:00Speaker 3: for allegedly leaking national defense information to a reporter. This,
- 2:04Speaker 3: by the way, is the third time the Justice Department
- 2:08Speaker 3: has charged Comey. Manassas Park art teacher Veronica Gooch-Ray was
- 2:13Speaker 3: arrested yesterday after a school transportation employee found her loaded
- 2:17Speaker 3: gun between two school vans during a morning safety check.
- 2:21Speaker 3: and all four Manassas Park schools were canceled. Montgomery County
- 2:25Speaker 3: police are investigating a deadly stabbing in Wheaton. Officers found
- 2:29Speaker 3: a man with chest wounds behind a shopping center on
- 2:31Speaker 3: Georgia Avenue early yesterday morning. He later died at a hospital,
- 2:36Speaker 3: and a 31-year-old suspect was arrested. The Loudoun County Sheriff
- 2:40Speaker 3: is urging families to talk with their teens about mental
- 2:43Speaker 3: health and suicide prevention after at least five juvenile suicides
- 2:47Speaker 3: in the county this year. Officials are highlighting social media
- 2:51Speaker 3: pressures and also reminding families that local support resources are available.
- 2:56Speaker 1: D.C.
- 2:56Speaker 3: School bus drivers are raising safety concerns, saying that the
- 2:59Speaker 3: buses are running with faulty brakes, bad tires and other
- 3:02Speaker 3: maintenance issues. The agency overseeing the fleet says that unsafe
- 3:06Speaker 3: buses are taken out of service and student safety is
- 3:10Speaker 3: its top priority. And finally, unworn clothes, slow juicers, and
- 3:15Speaker 3: uncomfortable shoes are all among the purchases apparently Americans regret
- 3:19Speaker 3: the most. This is according to analysis of Reddit discussions.
- 3:23Speaker 3: The study also estimates Americans spend about $ 150 a month
- 3:27Speaker 3: on impulse buys that often end up collecting dust. Forecast today,
- 3:32Speaker 3: another beautiful day. Sunny skies, highs around 70. Right now,
- 3:36Speaker 3: 47 in Odenton.
- 3:38Speaker 2: That is the news. Remember, you get your top stories
- 3:41Speaker 2: at the top of the hour right around 10 past
- 3:43Speaker 2: Monday through Friday, every hour when you wake up with us.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 3:50Speaker 2: You doing all right this morning? Your morning mindset could
- 3:53Speaker 2: help maybe turn your new day around or give it
- 3:56Speaker 2: a little spark to get moving. Bottom line, we've got
- 4:00Speaker 2: you covered with some thoughts we think might help in
- 4:03Speaker 2: just a few. Time now for the focus to be
- 4:06Speaker 2: squarely on you. I mean, it typically is. 97.1 Wash FM.
- 4:10Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chili in the morning, but this is
- 4:12Speaker 2: really all about how you're doing in your mind space
- 4:16Speaker 2: right now.
- 4:17Speaker 3: It's our morning mindset. We find a quote, share it
- 4:19Speaker 3: with you, and hopefully it'll inspire or even motivate you
- 4:23Speaker 3: as you take on the rest of your day.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Brene Brown. whom you've heard talked about on this broadcast
- 4:30Speaker 2: before and in this space before. Her morning mindset today
- 4:34Speaker 2: is they had very simply the courage to be imperfect.
- 4:39Speaker 2: They had very simply the courage to be imperfect. There
- 4:44Speaker 2: is absolutely nothing wrong with not being perfect. Perfection is
- 4:52Speaker 2: a goal that I mean, it's nice and it's lofty.
- 4:55Speaker 2: It probably makes for a good slogan. But when you
- 4:59Speaker 2: have the courage to be imperfect, you embrace the things
- 5:02Speaker 2: that scare you, that might be holding you back, and
- 5:05Speaker 2: who knows what you'll be capable of then. Brene Brown,
- 5:10Speaker 2: they had very simply the courage to be imperfect. Embrace
- 5:15Speaker 2: your imperfections today because they are imperfectly you. We're Toby
- 5:20Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning. Hopefully your morning mindset helped.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Let us know. The Toby and Chili page, washfm.com. And
- 5:25Speaker 2: stay right there because in just a few.
- 5:27Speaker 3: If you've ever hoped to be on a flight with
- 5:30Speaker 3: absolutely no kids. Well, JetBlue's got a very interesting offer
- 5:35Speaker 3: for you.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Good morning, frequent flyers and frequent travelers by air. We're
- 5:40Speaker 2: Toby and Tilly in the morning. It's 97.1 Watch FM
- 5:43Speaker 2: with important information for you. If you're dreading getting on
- 5:46Speaker 2: an early morning flight out of Dulles, Reagan, or BWI today,
- 5:50Speaker 2: soon things could be a bit more calm on a
- 5:54Speaker 2: certain airline should you choose to fly with them.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Well, JetBlue is launching a kid-free flight, but there's a catch.
- 6:01Speaker 3: You've got to book a cruise along with it. What
- 6:03Speaker 3: they're doing is they're trying this out. They're teaming up
- 6:05Speaker 3: with the adult-only cruise line Virgin Voyages, and they've created
- 6:09Speaker 3: a package that includes a flight from New York to Florida,
- 6:12Speaker 3: as well as this four-night Caribbean cruise. And this is
- 6:15Speaker 3: happening a very specific week. It's March 4th through the 8th,
- 6:18Speaker 3: and it's on board the Brilliant Lady.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:20Speaker 3: With stops in Key West, Bahamas, it's $ 2, 750 for two people.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Here's the question. Is this something that you would be
- 6:27Speaker 3: interested in taking advantage of? I know you love the
- 6:30Speaker 3: Virgin Voyage cruises.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they're adults only for a reason. And
- 6:35Speaker 2: that's part of the reason.
- 6:37Speaker 3: That's part of the reason you like it.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it is. I mean, you know, then you're hanging
- 6:42Speaker 2: around people that you do the same sort of stuff with.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And flying there is calm and cool and collected without
- 6:49Speaker 2: any outbursts. I mean, no offense. I mean, things happen.
- 6:52Speaker 2: That's out of parents control. Yeah, I'd be down. Would you?
- 6:55Speaker 3: Of course I would. And yes, we are both parents.
- 6:58Speaker 3: My son's a little bit younger than your daughter, but
- 7:01Speaker 3: I get it. I mean, sometimes it's nice to have
- 7:03Speaker 3: the option, Toby, of being on a flight with only
- 7:06Speaker 3: other adults. And I think that if this goes well,
- 7:08Speaker 3: and I hope that it does, that airlines will create
- 7:11Speaker 3: more packages like this because it's not really a vacation
- 7:15Speaker 3: if you start it stressed.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Yeah, no, not at all.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 3: If you're overstimulated so.
- 7:20Speaker 2: To speak i mean you watch this is gonna become
- 7:23Speaker 2: a thing like these kind of pack i mean twenty
- 7:25Speaker 2: seven hundred fifty dollars for two people is a pretty
- 7:28Speaker 2: affordable vacation yeah if you think about it all things
- 7:32Speaker 2: considered you can do the math in your head later
- 7:35Speaker 2: i know maybe you're like man i'd be lucky just
- 7:37Speaker 2: to take a road trip well can you imagine how
- 7:39Speaker 2: quiet that road trip would be if the kids weren't
- 7:41Speaker 2: in the back of the car going yeah yeah i'm
- 7:44Speaker 2: just saying no be something to consider anyway you can
- 7:47Speaker 2: read more about it if you want to the toby
- 7:48Speaker 2: and chili page wash fm.com and if you book one

- 14:34Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Your nearly impossible question is on.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 14:45Speaker 2: The question again, one more time, for those who might
- 14:47Speaker 2: have missed it, would be.
- 14:50Speaker 3: 47% of people say they have lied about this on
- 14:53Speaker 3: a first date.

- 15:05Speaker 4: Good, man.
- 15:06Speaker 2: You got the question. What is your guess for us today?
- 15:09Speaker 3: Well, I think alcohol consumption. How much they drink.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Did you lie about all the booze you drink?
- 15:15Speaker 3: Well, back in the day, I probably did.
- 15:17Speaker 4: I'm a big fan of 0.0 nowadays.
- 15:21Speaker 2: That's true. We all get to that point in life.
- 15:24Speaker 3: 47% of people say they have lied about how much

- 15:49Speaker 2: these tickets that we've got for you from Live Nation.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Be here around 710 after Toby and Chili's top stories
- 15:56Speaker 2: at the top of the hour for another round of
- 15:58Speaker 2: your nearly impossible question on 97.1 Wash FM. Now hang out,
- 16:04Speaker 2: won't you please?
- 16:05Speaker 3: A recent survey found that Gen Z likes to go
- 16:09Speaker 3: to the gym to battle their loneliness. Well, how do
- 16:12Speaker 3: you combat loneliness? 866-927-4361 to join the conversation.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Loneliness is a thing. It's 97.1 Wash FM, Toby and
- 16:24Speaker 2: Chili in the morning. So how do you fight back
- 16:27Speaker 2: against it? How do you battle loneliness? Because it can
- 16:30Speaker 2: be a tough thing. And then if you let it
- 16:33Speaker 2: settle in, loneliness can become depression. And then that's just
- 16:36Speaker 2: a completely different conversation for a completely different person, i.e.
- 16:41Speaker 2: a therapist. 866-927-4361 is the number if you want to
- 16:43Speaker 2: jump in.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Well, there was a recent survey that 7 in 10
- 16:49Speaker 3: Gen Zers feel more lonely and isolated than they ever
- 16:53Speaker 3: thought they would. That's almost 70%, Toby. And a lot
- 16:57Speaker 3: of them are turning to the gym or meeting people
- 17:01Speaker 3: at the gym to feel less lonely.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I guess that's one way to do it.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Go to the gym, get your workout in.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good for your mental health and also for
- 17:12Speaker 3: your social health.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Physical stamina and such.
- 17:16Speaker 3: That certainly wouldn't be my go-to when I'm feeling lonely.
- 17:19Speaker 3: If I'm feeling lonely, I usually pick up the phone
- 17:21Speaker 3: and call some friends I haven't seen in a while,
- 17:24Speaker 3: some mom friends, and we go have some adult beverages together.
- 17:27Speaker 2: There's that.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Adult beverages, the gym.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Seems to me like Gen Z might really have the
- 17:34Speaker 2: advantage here over the adult beverages.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Well, Gen Z may not have kids and all the
