- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Good morning, this is Brendan.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: I'm back with another movie review.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: I know I usually try to stick to the older movies and I will get back to that, but being such a huge Evil Dead fan, I had to go see Evil Dead Burn yesterday, so that is gonna be my review today.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: But first off, I want to set the record straight on something.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: When I say fuck you to an actor, I'm actually giving the character that they play in a certain movie the good fuck you.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Specifically, the one that was brought to my attention was when I said fuck you to John Travolta, and it wasn't John Travolta.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I love the work that he does.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Everything from Vinnie Barberino to playing Edna Turnblatt in Hairspray, it was fuck you to Billy Nolan in the movie Carrie.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I know I've said fuck you to Ryan Reynolds before, and that was his character of George Lutz, and I'll tell you what, if George Lutz looked like Ryan Reynolds and I was married to that man and he was coming at me with an axe, we would just have to throw down.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: If I've already taken it too far and I get served, what do you call it, an injunction or a restraining order from Ryan Reynolds?
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: That means I would have in my little hand a legal document with his name on it and my name on it.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So with the right amount of whiteout, I'm sure I could turn that into a marriage license.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Now with that being said, let's get on with it with Evil Dead Burn.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: That was one of the best movies I had seen in a long time.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I was entertained from beginning to end.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: The only bad reviews I read before going into the movie were people said there wasn't enough character build.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: I didn't find that to be the case.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: As always, there will be some spoilers coming ahead.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: There are a couple of familiar faces in this movie that I couldn't quite put my finger on, so I did have to look them up.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: We have Hunter Dewin, who plays Tyler in Wednesday, and Lucianne Buchanan, I knew her from Sweet Tooth, she plays Louisa, and also from the movie Pearl, we have Tandy Wright, who played Ruth.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I actually thought this movie was going to be a bit of a challenge for me.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: It was the first time I ever went to the movie theater completely by myself.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I lost my husband in 2016, and this is just one of those things that I was determined to do.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: And don't you know at the very beginning, a woman loses her husband in a car accident.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: I was thinking, damn it, this is just what I need.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: But we learned that he's abusive, so good.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: No big loss.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: But that accident does set up the premise for that abusive fucks widow to be spending time with the in-laws.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And if you are an Evil Dead fan, you know it only takes one dead eye to ruin a whole evening.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: The one we get to see first is Jessica that was in the Evil Dead Rise movie.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't say that you have to watch Evil Dead Rise to get anything out of this one.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: This could be a standalone movie, but it does pick up where the other one left off.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: There are some really neat camera shots in this one, so I would recommend seeing it on the big screen.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: If you're not really into horror, I would even say this one kind of plays out somewhat of an action movie.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: This is definitely a really bloody movie, but for some reason Spit grosses me out worse than blood.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: So we have a Deadeye taking out the grandmother's denture, sticking it in her own mouth, letting it root around in there a little bit, then taking it out and sticking it right back in Granny's mouth.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: And for me, that's the most disgusting scene in the entire movie.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: We also see a nasty, slurpy, bloody, spitty kiss.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: It's still the dentures that get me.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: I know there's a lot of people out there that say they don't get along with their in-laws, but damn.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: I think this family had a lot of problems before this day.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Let's go ahead and run down my list.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: This movie is about as evil as it gets.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: It's what we expect from one of the Evil Dead movies, that good old demonic possession.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Two wine glasses.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I thought I was gonna have more empathy for the widow, but she lucked out getting rid of that husband.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry her day went to shit.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: But if things had gone differently, she would have probably been better off.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: My empathy lies, yes, there's a dog.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: The dog was one of the first ones to get it, but then it turns, so the dog has to go.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: One wine glass.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: On the eerie scale, this is not a slow burn, but we do have some levitation and people crawling around on the ceiling.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: One wine glass.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: I love the environment of this movie.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: It's primarily in an old farmhouse and it is snowing outside, so I've got to give that a wine glass.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And as far as being entertaining, that is a yes, yes, yes, and a yes.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna give that two wine glasses.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Somehow I just got seven wine glasses on a five-glass scale.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: But it's worth every one of them.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I would even call this movie fun.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: If you're a horror movie lover, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: It is just non-stop from beginning to end.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, the end.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: And you have to go see this in the theater.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Be sure and sit until the end of the credits.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: There is a mid-credit scene with grandma that you don't want to miss, and one that I didn't expect at the end of the credits, there's another scene and we get to see Ellie from Evil Dead Rise.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: That was a treat.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: This is definitely a movie I will watch again when it goes to streaming.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: If you were lucky enough to see this movie early on, send me an email and let me know your thoughts.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: BS Studios at myyahoo.com.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Our next movie is going to be 2002's Ghost Ship.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So until then.
