Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: What's up, everybody?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of Bucco Territory, presented by
- 0:13Speaker 2: the Foul Territory Network. I'm your host, Noahiles and joining
- 0:16Speaker 2: me as always. I just saw the Mark Flatten I
- 0:25Speaker 2: don't think it was my career batt again. There's my
- 0:27Speaker 2: senior year.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Career's a lot lower. I had a horrible.
- 0:35Speaker 2: They're gonna get a lot of text from my high
- 0:36Speaker 2: school baseball team. It's called them bs on that graphic.
- 0:39Speaker 2: So but guys, well, let's talk about some actual baseball
- 0:44Speaker 2: here rather than the Burgetstown Blue Devils Hall of Fame
- 0:47Speaker 2: right fielder. We got a good show. Winter Meetings are
- 0:52Speaker 2: coming up. The next time we record, we will have news.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Uh.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I don't know if it'll be Pirates news, but by
- 0:58Speaker 2: the time we record in next week, something will have
- 1:02Speaker 2: happened in Winter Meetings. It could be a national story
- 1:05Speaker 2: and we can find a way to localize it, or
- 1:06Speaker 2: maybe the Pirates will be involved. I mean, our next
- 1:08Speaker 2: show is set to air on a Tuesday. I believe
- 1:13Speaker 2: the Monday evening of Winter Meetings last year was when
- 1:16Speaker 2: the Pirates made their big deal and traded Luis Ortiz
- 1:20Speaker 2: for Spencer Horowitz. So we'll see, but you know, the
- 1:23Speaker 2: national story is where we're gonna start. It's always interesting
- 1:28Speaker 2: to go cover these big events like the All Star Game,
- 1:31Speaker 2: the GM meetings, the Winter Meetings, because when you're a
- 1:35Speaker 2: local beat writer, you're thinking of localized stories, but you
- 1:39Speaker 2: get a first hand taste of the national narratives when
- 1:42Speaker 2: all of the media is together is one and you
- 1:44Speaker 2: have access to Commissioner Manfred and people from the MLVPA
- 1:49Speaker 2: and and all these different people around. And I think
- 1:52Speaker 2: it's safe to say that the big national story that's
- 1:55Speaker 2: gonna come from this is gonna beat the salary cap.
- 1:59Speaker 2: And it's ironic because last year the big national story
- 2:02Speaker 2: was Juan Soto signing the most lucrative deal in the
- 2:04Speaker 2: history of professional sports.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And now the big.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Storyline that's gonna be entering this year's Winter Meetings is
- 2:12Speaker 2: gonna be maybe a system in place that can prevent
- 2:15Speaker 2: a Sodo deal from ever happening again.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna open up the floor.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Now we'll start with Josh, do you expect this to
- 2:24Speaker 2: be a big time narrative next week and should it
- 2:26Speaker 2: be a major conversation regardless on your personal feelings of it,
- 2:29Speaker 2: Do you think that this deserves attention.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Do I think it'll be a national story like that crazy. No, Yes,
- 2:38Speaker 4: it's gonna be some attention brought to it because obviously,
- 2:40Speaker 4: as things are coming to light over the past couple
- 2:43Speaker 4: of years, there's been a lot of conversation about teams
- 2:45Speaker 4: not spending and whatnot and a way to you know,
- 2:48Speaker 4: make more teams you know, spend competitively or whatever you
- 2:51Speaker 4: want to call it. But I don't foresee anything really
- 2:55Speaker 4: moving the needle to where it's really gonna make anything
- 2:58Speaker 4: drastic happen, because it is something that's always been talked about.
- 3:03Speaker 4: But I don't see it being talked about any more
- 3:05Speaker 4: than what it has. Granted, I know, with revenue and
- 3:07Speaker 4: everything going up and people you know, looking and keeping
- 3:11Speaker 4: account of money and where it's going and this or that,
- 3:14Speaker 4: especially the difference of differences of organizations, you know, it's
- 3:17Speaker 4: going to cost for some concern. But this is what
- 3:19Speaker 4: has always been so in my eyes, I don't really
- 3:22Speaker 4: see it being too much because it's something that's going
- 3:25Speaker 4: to be talked about obviously when they come into the
- 3:27Speaker 4: next CBA, which is not too you know, far out,
- 3:30Speaker 4: but I mean it's something that comes up every CBA.
- 3:33Speaker 4: So it's something that I would say that I'm not
- 3:35Speaker 4: going to really worry too much about Mark.
- 3:38Speaker 2: The Pirates fan base is pretty gung ho overall on
- 3:42Speaker 2: the idea of a salary cap. I think there are
- 3:44Speaker 2: some people who may be recognized that it's not going
- 3:47Speaker 2: to fix everything, especially with this franchise. But where do
- 3:50Speaker 2: you stand on this? Do you do you want this
- 3:52Speaker 2: narrative to remain present? Do you do you want this
- 3:55Speaker 2: to remain a focus because you believe it can make
- 3:58Speaker 2: the Pirates more competitive?
- 4:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, it obviously would benefit the Pirates to
- 4:03Speaker 5: have a salary floor. This is a team that's bottom
- 4:06Speaker 5: five in payroll almost every year. So if the level
- 4:09Speaker 5: of that bottom five is higher because of a salary floor,
- 4:12Speaker 5: that's great. But who knows how much that actually changes things.
- 4:16Speaker 5: If it's a salary floor of one hundred million, Okay,
- 4:19Speaker 5: the Pirates are going to spend ten to fifty million
- 4:21Speaker 5: more a year. Cool, that doesn't really change anything. When
- 4:24Speaker 5: the Dodgers are spending four hundred million and paying one
- 4:27Speaker 5: hundred million luxury tax, I mean the twenty twenty five
- 4:30Speaker 5: Dodgers are set to pay I think like almost one
- 4:33Speaker 5: hundred and thirty million in just luxury tax this year.
- 4:36Speaker 5: That's more than the entire Pirates payroll this year. That's
- 4:40Speaker 5: just one team's luxury tax. It more than the entire
- 4:43Speaker 5: salary cap of another team. So there's historic levels have
- 4:47Speaker 5: been balanced. I think that's what's more frustrating with this
- 4:50Speaker 5: salary cap. I mean, back in nineteen ninety four, the
- 4:53Speaker 5: salary cap was the issue that caused the lockout then,
- 4:56Speaker 5: and we're still arguing about these same issues. They haven't
- 4:58Speaker 5: gone away, but now it's more we're seeing consistently teams
- 5:03Speaker 5: that are top five and spending are the ones in
- 5:05Speaker 5: the World Series, and you're never going to see the
- 5:09Speaker 5: Pirates be that top five spender. So as a fan,
- 5:11Speaker 5: it's like, well, what is my team ever going to
- 5:14Speaker 5: have a chance? And that might drive people away from
- 5:17Speaker 5: the sport. So as a Pirates fan, I definitely want
- 5:20Speaker 5: to see some kind of action because the current luxury
- 5:24Speaker 5: tax or however they want to label it, just doesn't
- 5:28Speaker 5: incentiize teams enough to actually build a winning roster.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'll say as a baseball fan, I would rather see
- 5:36Speaker 2: conversation between the MLPPA and Major League Baseball ahead of
- 5:42Speaker 2: the negotiations rather than both of them stating their cases
- 5:47Speaker 2: to us behind closed doors and letting us write forty
- 5:50Speaker 2: to fifty million articles about it, and then going on
- 5:53Speaker 2: ESPN and stating their specific cases, and then getting one
- 5:56Speaker 2: on ones with national reporters and going on and carrying on,
- 6:00Speaker 2: and then and then they go into clubhouses and they
- 6:02Speaker 2: both say what they have to say, and stuff like
- 6:05Speaker 2: that gets leaked out, and you hear about the Phillies
- 6:08Speaker 2: and how they gotten Rob Manfred's phase. And I would
- 6:11Speaker 2: rather rather than everyone going everywhere else to state their
- 6:16Speaker 2: case as to why this works. Why wait until a
- 6:19Speaker 2: year from now when this collective bargaining agreement expires.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It's three hundred and sixty three days from the actually.
- 6:28Speaker 2: But yeah, December first, So what what why if when
- 6:32Speaker 2: when you see the looming storm ahead right like, it's
- 6:38Speaker 2: clear everyone is saying there's gonna be some form of
- 6:41Speaker 2: a lockout this year. Hopefully we still get baseball, hopefully
- 6:44Speaker 2: it doesn't even impact spring training. Who knows the extent
- 6:47Speaker 2: of it. But if you're on either side, like, shouldn't
- 6:52Speaker 2: the goal be to like maybe start talking about it now?
- 6:55Speaker 2: That way you can get into the negotiations with at
- 6:58Speaker 2: least some common ground. That's not going to happen, clearly,
- 7:02Speaker 2: but that's what I would like to see, and I
- 7:05Speaker 2: hope that there's some more of.
- 7:06Speaker 1: That type of narrative moving forward.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I hope some people who have a bigger voice, a
- 7:11Speaker 2: bigger platform in the baseball community perhaps encourage both sides
- 7:16Speaker 2: to maybe get together and start preliminary talks now before
- 7:21Speaker 2: the thing expires. That way, when it does expire, which
- 7:25Speaker 2: won't be a big deal.
- 7:26Speaker 1: If you want to lock.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Everyone out on December first, that's fine, but I think
- 7:31Speaker 2: it'd be productive for everyone to at least have some
- 7:34Speaker 2: sort of agreements heading in saying okay, we at least
- 7:38Speaker 2: have a starting point, because if you're starting from scratch
- 7:42Speaker 2: a year from today when the negotiations like officially begin,
- 7:46Speaker 2: that's not good for anyone. That's not good for the players,
- 7:49Speaker 2: that's not good for the sport. That's not good for
- 7:50Speaker 2: the fans. It's not good for people who get paid
- 7:53Speaker 2: to write and talk about the game either.
- 7:55Speaker 6: So that's come to the table and.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Talk, yeah, everyone, because right now all the rhetoric is
- 8:03Speaker 5: just like from like the MLBPA, they're like zero chants,
- 8:06Speaker 5: we're ever agreeing.
- 8:07Speaker 6: To a salary cap?
- 8:08Speaker 5: Which that's what you want to say when you're negotiating there,
- 8:11Speaker 5: but it also kind of isolates and makes things a
- 8:14Speaker 5: little bit more difficult when you actually do show.
- 8:16Speaker 6: Up at the table. So we'll see.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a touchy subject, it.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Sure, it certainly is, Josh, I want to ask you
- 8:23Speaker 2: before we move on to our next second. One of
- 8:26Speaker 2: my most memorable experiences from covering baseball my first year
- 8:30Speaker 2: your last year in Pittsburgh was being in the clubhouse
- 8:33Speaker 2: while you guys were watching those final hours of the
- 8:35Speaker 2: trade deadline. That was the obvious, the pretty infamous tradeline
- 8:40Speaker 2: trade trade deadline in Pittsburgh. But do you guys sit
- 8:45Speaker 2: around and watch the TV during the winter meetings the
- 8:47Speaker 2: way you guys do during you know, the trade deadline?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Obviously it's totally different. But do you do you tune.
- 8:53Speaker 2: In to like MLB Network during those those three or
- 8:58Speaker 2: four days over the winter and see what's going on?
- 9:00Speaker 4: Me personally, no, some guys might, But honestly, I think
- 9:04Speaker 4: your best source of information is gonna come from your phone,
- 9:08Speaker 4: you know, just because there's so many different people that's
- 9:11Speaker 4: you know, down at the winter meetings. Whether you know
- 9:13Speaker 4: guys like yourself know, sometimes players themselves go yeah, so
- 9:18Speaker 4: I think a lot of the information you might find
- 9:20Speaker 4: is gonna be more internet based. You don't know how
- 9:23Speaker 4: much of it is true, but you know, every time
- 9:26Speaker 4: you turn around, you see in the tweet, Oh, I
- 9:28Speaker 4: saw these two teams meeting. I saw this GM meeting
- 9:31Speaker 4: with that same things that you're gonna get when you
- 9:34Speaker 4: turn on the TV. But you know, the winter time
- 9:36Speaker 4: is when you know, guys probably aren't around the TV
- 9:38Speaker 4: as much. You know, they got their off season program
- 9:41Speaker 4: with it working out, they hitting, you know, doing whatever
- 9:43Speaker 4: they do to feel their time to get ready for
- 9:45Speaker 4: the season. So it's a little easier to be around
- 9:48Speaker 4: the TV during the season when it's trade deadline because
- 9:50Speaker 4: they all in the clubhouse. But during the off season,
- 9:53Speaker 4: you know, guys, I know myself, I found out more information,
- 9:56Speaker 4: probably just from my phone, like Twitter and stuff.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Okay, all right, we're going to take a quick break
- 10:01Speaker 2: to hear from a sponsor when we return here about
- 10:04Speaker 2: some Mitch Keller talk.
- 10:07Speaker 6: KP.
- 10:08Speaker 3: The website is Chubbyshorts dot com. The brand is Chubbies,
- 10:12Speaker 3: but it's not just shorts.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Yeah, don't be fooled by the website's name.
- 10:17Speaker 2: This is a one stop shop for all things that
- 10:19Speaker 2: I love, swimming trunks, golf polos, and even flannels.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It fits me perfectly. One stop shop is the place
- 10:27Speaker 1: to go.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yes, Sir KP. I've been wearing their flannel overshirt. It's
- 10:30Speaker 3: like my favorite flannel and your softest sweater having a
- 10:34Speaker 3: little baby. It's the best of both worlds. Classic flannel
- 10:37Speaker 3: look with the warmth of a fleece. And we know
- 10:39Speaker 3: it's that time of year to pull that off. The
- 10:41Speaker 3: Chubby's flannel overshirt. It feels like your favorite flannel, but
- 10:45Speaker 3: with the warmth of a cozy sweater. And for a
- 10:48Speaker 3: limited time, Chubbies is giving our listeners twenty percent off
- 10:51Speaker 3: your purchase at Chubbies with the promo code Foul at checkout.
- 10:54Speaker 3: But if it's Black Friday, skip the code take advantage
- 10:57Speaker 3: of an even bigger markdown during their exclusive Black Friday sale.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Just head to chubbys Shorts dot com and make sure
- 11:05Speaker 3: to support the show by telling them that Foul Territory
- 11:07Speaker 3: sent you.
- 11:09Speaker 2: All Right, so, guys, Winter Meetings, we're going to localize
- 11:13Speaker 2: it now. I think the big storyline for the pirates
- 11:16Speaker 2: heading in and we've done a whole episode on this,
- 11:18Speaker 2: but I think this is the time where it could
- 11:20Speaker 2: come to fruition.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Mitch Keller, does he stay? Does he go?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Is this finally the time last year at the winter
- 11:27Speaker 2: meetings is when I learned that the Pirates were shopping
- 11:30Speaker 2: Mitch Keller the post because that was the first to
- 11:32Speaker 2: report that we were all over it, and it got
- 11:35Speaker 2: confirmed by a whole bunch of national outlets, and those
- 11:38Speaker 2: trade rumors never really went away. He was one of
- 11:41Speaker 2: the main guys on the block last July. They obviously
- 11:45Speaker 2: held on to him, but now he's one of the
- 11:47Speaker 2: band guys on the block again. He's on everyone's list
- 11:50Speaker 2: of top fifty three age or top fifty trade candidates,
- 11:53Speaker 2: you know, guys who could get moved from from each team.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I'll started off with you, Josh.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Does it make sense for Mitch Keller to be the
- 12:05Speaker 2: first domino to fall for the Pirates off season or
- 12:08Speaker 2: should they be looking to maybe sign a free agent
- 12:10Speaker 2: first and then move Keller because they have a better
- 12:14Speaker 2: idea of what they need in a return.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I think that's something that they're gonna have to really evaluate,
- 12:23Speaker 4: because I mean, you definitely want your first move to
- 12:26Speaker 4: be something that's gonna be something that's gonna get the
- 12:29Speaker 4: people excited, but not only that, something that's gonna show
- 12:32Speaker 4: that you're trying to win and not just talking about it.
- 12:35Speaker 4: But at the same time, you don't wanna and I
- 12:38Speaker 4: don't think this would happen because Mitch is gonna, as
- 12:40Speaker 4: you say, he's gonna be sought after by a lot
- 12:42Speaker 4: of teams. I don't think you necessarily have to worry
- 12:45Speaker 4: about Oh, we gotta rush to trade him, not meaning
- 12:47Speaker 4: that you're gonna hold on to him, but you might
- 12:49Speaker 4: have a better opportunity to make your big splash before
- 12:52Speaker 4: you trade him, because you know there's gonna be people
- 12:55Speaker 4: calling left and right. I mean, it's a guy that's
- 12:57Speaker 4: gonna go out there and take the ball every fifth
- 12:59Speaker 4: day and gonna des he's he's gonna be wanted. And
- 13:02Speaker 4: if you do want to deal him, you don't have
- 13:04Speaker 4: to do it right away. You can make your signing
- 13:06Speaker 4: if you need to be aggressive that way.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Mark, What do you think is it gonna happen or no?
- 13:13Speaker 5: I really do I think so it's the perfect time.
- 13:16Speaker 5: You're you have a lot of teams that are hungry
- 13:19Speaker 5: for starting pitchers. You can make this trade. Maybe now
- 13:21Speaker 5: before a lot of teams make those moves and secure.
- 13:26Speaker 5: You might have the most options right now to trade
- 13:29Speaker 5: Mitch Keller, but at the same time, it might depend
- 13:31Speaker 5: what the players are looking to get back. If you're
- 13:33Speaker 5: trying to get one single player MLB caliber, maybe it
- 13:37Speaker 5: makes sense to make that color trade now. If you're
- 13:40Speaker 5: trying to patch in a few, like maybe just league
- 13:44Speaker 5: average guys to Gapville for Keller multiple players, maybe you
- 13:49Speaker 5: wait for that so you can build around that one
- 13:51Speaker 5: centerpiece that you do get in free agency. And so
- 13:54Speaker 5: there's a lot of flexibility. But what are you expecting,
- 13:57Speaker 5: mister beat reporter. You're the one that's uh into these meetings.
- 14:00Speaker 5: What do you think.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm not going anymore a different assignment now,
- 14:05Speaker 2: so I'll be cover them remotely like you guys. But
- 14:09Speaker 2: you know, the more I think about it, the more
- 14:11Speaker 2: I do think he does get moved.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I agree that.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I think the Pirates I don't know if I want
- 14:17Speaker 2: to say anxious, but I do think they feel pressure
- 14:20Speaker 2: to get this ball rolling. Last offseason, they intended to
- 14:24Speaker 2: make a lot more moves. I mean, I've heard from
- 14:27Speaker 2: a whole bunch of different sources about other potential signings
- 14:30Speaker 2: they had in the works, the potential trades that they
- 14:34Speaker 2: just couldn't get to the finish line, and that can't
- 14:37Speaker 2: happen this year. So I think that they don't want
- 14:40Speaker 2: to go into, you know, the week before Christmas without
- 14:44Speaker 2: any move of significance being made. So and I think
- 14:48Speaker 2: Keller's the easy starting point right where. I just think financially,
- 14:53Speaker 2: the Pirates aren't going to be the first team to
- 14:55Speaker 2: kick down the door of a big free agent deal.
- 14:57Speaker 1: They're probably going.
- 14:58Speaker 2: To let the the top tier spenders go in and
- 15:03Speaker 2: get the top tier yeah, and then they're gonna see
- 15:06Speaker 2: what's remaining within their price range. Now, it probably won't
- 15:10Speaker 2: be a wait as long as they did last year
- 15:12Speaker 2: where it's like early February and they're choosing between Alex
- 15:16Speaker 2: Verdugo and Tommy fam or at least they shouldn't hope
- 15:18Speaker 2: it wait that weight goes this long. But I think
- 15:21Speaker 2: that they're gonna wait for the big the big names
- 15:24Speaker 2: to get picked away. A couple of them probably will
- 15:26Speaker 2: get picked away in the Winter meetings this upcoming week.
- 15:31Speaker 2: But in the meantime, I think they can trade for
- 15:33Speaker 2: Keller and they can get the best trade return possible
- 15:37Speaker 2: and then they can sit back and look and say, Okay,
- 15:40Speaker 2: either they just replace this salary with a veteran making
- 15:44Speaker 2: something equal, or they cleared a certain amount of salary
- 15:48Speaker 2: and say they get someone fre yar. Then okay, well,
- 15:51Speaker 2: now you have sixteen and a half million dollars extra
- 15:53Speaker 2: to spend. Or maybe you acquire someone to spend that
- 15:56Speaker 2: where yes, and you have plenty of time to spend it. Yeah,
- 15:59Speaker 2: Or on the flip side, maybe you acquire someone for
- 16:02Speaker 2: Keller who like a McNeil, who is making more.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So it's like, all right, well now we have to
- 16:07Speaker 1: adjust our budget.
- 16:08Speaker 2: If you want to get a couple more position players,
- 16:11Speaker 2: you have to pivot, and maybe a guy like Jorge
- 16:14Speaker 2: Polanco or Ryan o'harn is no longer on the table.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I do think I don't know if I agree with
- 16:19Speaker 2: the idea of Keller being the first domino to fall
- 16:22Speaker 2: for the Pirates offseason, but I do think he will
- 16:25Speaker 2: be the first domino to fall, and I just think
- 16:29Speaker 2: it makes too much sense for him.
- 16:32Speaker 1: They're going to make a move this spring or this
- 16:34Speaker 1: winter meetings. I'm confident in that.
- 16:36Speaker 2: And if it's gonna be a move, I just if
- 16:39Speaker 2: they move someone else besides Keller. I just don't think
- 16:43Speaker 2: it'll at So, yeah, that's my take on it. Real quick,
- 16:47Speaker 2: let's go back again through it. Let's all guess a
- 16:50Speaker 2: team mark.
- 16:52Speaker 5: So I'm gonna try and throw something out there. I
- 16:56Speaker 5: have a few teams that haven't had any reported connections
- 17:00Speaker 5: necessarily color or anything, but that do need pictures. One
- 17:05Speaker 5: team I was thinking was the Astros. Maybe like in
- 17:11Speaker 5: Essac parades. You know, like guy that you probably don't
- 17:15Speaker 5: want him at third base, but he brings some some
- 17:17Speaker 5: serious power with his battle throw him at the DH spot.
- 17:20Speaker 5: He's not a free agent until twenty twenty eight, only
- 17:24Speaker 5: in the second year of arbitration, so you get a
- 17:27Speaker 5: nice power bat into the lineup. I think he had
- 17:31Speaker 5: like two and a half War three War around there.
- 17:34Speaker 5: I think you probably need more than just parades for
- 17:37Speaker 5: Mitch Keller. But I don't know what do you guys
- 17:40Speaker 5: think about that?
- 17:43Speaker 4: I mean I could see something similar like that.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you're clearing up money, you're bringing in slug control. Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 2: I think that'd probably go.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Gosh, I'm still gonna stick with Baltimore just because of
- 17:59Speaker 4: a recent cold obviously, and just as you say we're
- 18:04Speaker 4: going to smoke their fire and hoping that there's a
- 18:07Speaker 4: big fire if that is the route they go, because
- 18:10Speaker 4: you know, they got some pieces that could complement the
- 18:13Speaker 4: Pirates if they're willing to, you know, part ways with them.
- 18:17Speaker 4: For Mitch Keller, who, as we said, is gonna be
- 18:19Speaker 4: a hot commodity.
- 18:21Speaker 2: So I'm going Baltimore, I'm gonna throw a different name
- 18:24Speaker 2: out there again. I know this team was interested in
- 18:28Speaker 2: him in July. I'll be candid. I'm not a beat
- 18:31Speaker 2: reporter anymore, so I haven't done a lot of digging,
- 18:33Speaker 2: so I don't know if they're so interested or not.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Maybe I could find out, and maybe I will. But
- 18:38Speaker 2: in the meantime, keep an eye on the Chicago Cubs.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I could see that making sense. They they reached out
- 18:44Speaker 2: about them in July. There were some connections there. I
- 18:48Speaker 2: think an inner division trade would be quite bold.
- 18:52Speaker 1: But I mean they moved in.
- 18:55Speaker 2: The division like four months ago, so and I was
- 18:59Speaker 2: about to make the joke them. Man, maybe they just
- 19:01Speaker 2: trade them to go with Oscar and Cincinnati Bryan.
- 19:04Speaker 1: They need a third baseman, right, Mark.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Hayes, I'm like pinching myself. There's no chance. But you know,
- 19:12Speaker 5: if they did everything would be right in my world. Again,
- 19:16Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:17Speaker 1: If it'd be right for the whole Pirates world, but yeah,
- 19:19Speaker 1: or even.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Probably not, or I would be happy and that's what matters.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, yeah, but I think keep an eye on
- 19:27Speaker 2: the Cubs. Not that I'm like again, not that I'm
- 19:31Speaker 2: hearing anything or so maybe not keep an eye, but
- 19:34Speaker 2: that's my prediction. I just they have a lot of outfielders.
- 19:37Speaker 2: They have a lot of young outfielders, and the Pirates need.
- 19:39Speaker 1: One of them.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I think that that could be uh somewhere, and you know,
- 19:46Speaker 2: the Cubs have money to spend, you would think, right,
- 19:49Speaker 2: and they probably lost.
- 19:52Speaker 1: That division race last year because they're starting rotations.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll throw more name out just really quick. The
- 20:01Speaker 5: Angels are going after pitching that you're signed Alec Manolo tonight.
- 20:04Speaker 2: I wouldn't wish that on Mitch at all. Like, I
- 20:08Speaker 2: really hope that they would not trade him there. That'd
- 20:11Speaker 2: be horrible.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It would make sense. I mean, yeah, like I wouldn't
- 20:16Speaker 1: make the Pirates.
- 20:16Speaker 4: But you're like, yeah, you want them to do him
- 20:19Speaker 4: some justice, but don't do that.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Put him on a team.
- 20:23Speaker 6: I want to see Mitch Waye. That would be awesome.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Want to set happy forget winning, Like, let's not send
- 20:29Speaker 2: them to Let's not send them there, you know, all right,
- 20:33Speaker 2: they're there Sacramento, Like I feel like those are the
- 20:36Speaker 2: places where yeah, it's.
- 20:38Speaker 6: Just best guys.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, take take good care of them, you know,
- 20:42Speaker 2: especially when there's so many good teams interested.
- 20:44Speaker 1: If they send them to the Angels, that would that
- 20:47Speaker 1: would be tough. All right. So we're wrapping it up now.
