- 0:05Speaker 3: The plays get broken down and science gets denied the Bitch.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Raising

- 1:00Speaker 4: Landra Tata coming at you this morning.
- 1:05Speaker 2: First hour flew by. Caine is back.
- 1:14Speaker 5: She's back from eternity leave.
- 1:16Speaker 2: She's back from Attorney Leig.
- 1:17Speaker 5: I don't give you much.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I didn't give you much. Man, you gotta you, always
- 1:20Speaker 4: gotta show up. She got an hour.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Two little pups, where are they? She afferent?
- 1:31Speaker 4: She abandoned them, two different daddies.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Caine gotta watch you, and she's back though. Good for her.
- 1:45Speaker 4: She's ready for the weekend. I'm ready for the weekend,
- 1:48Speaker 4: excited about it. It's one of those weekends that, uh,
- 1:53Speaker 4: we have nothing planned, which the older I get those
- 1:56Speaker 4: are like the best types of weekends when you don't
- 1:58Speaker 4: have anything going on. You can just kind of make
- 2:01Speaker 4: up your own weekend. You want to stand When I
- 2:05Speaker 4: had the kids stay in their pj's all day, So
- 2:07Speaker 4: what do it.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Play outside?
- 2:11Speaker 4: Good weather, too good playing outside weather, Taylor, you gonna
- 2:14Speaker 4: be outside.
- 2:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm actually gonna be outside a lot Tomorrow. I
- 2:18Speaker 6: gotta do a flag football event.
- 2:21Speaker 2: What where is that sent them?
- 2:22Speaker 4: All?
- 2:23Speaker 2: High school? Okay, high school flag football, So.
- 2:26Speaker 6: You'll love this, ages four all the way up to
- 2:29Speaker 6: high school.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Very cool. So it's a tournament.
- 2:33Speaker 6: Yeah, last week there was forty team. I did it
- 2:35Speaker 6: last Saturday and tomorrow last week there was forty teams
- 2:39Speaker 6: or Brett in the chat.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah, shut out. That's where I'm at.
- 2:41Speaker 7: Brother.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Flight football is becoming very popular and very fast too.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Obviously it's going to be an Olympic sport in a
- 2:47Speaker 4: couple of years. And the now the youth teams are forming,
- 2:52Speaker 4: the travel teams just kind of liking baseball for both
- 2:55Speaker 4: boys and girls. And I am totally here for it.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Of course I've been a flag foot well coach last
- 3:00Speaker 4: couple of years. Jake certainly is. So it is maybe
- 3:05Speaker 4: Razor one day. It is fantastic, and it's you know,
- 3:10Speaker 4: it's there's certainly a skill to it. It's a little
- 3:13Speaker 4: bit different obviously a way different game than regular football.
- 3:16Speaker 4: But like just from a game planning I tend to
- 3:20Speaker 4: as a coach, I probably follow in the trap of
- 3:22Speaker 4: trying to treat it like seven on seven too much,
- 3:25Speaker 4: where you're trying to run like traditional plays and and
- 3:28Speaker 4: it's and you can't do that, can't run just like
- 3:30Speaker 4: the normal plays. But that'll be fun. And there if
- 3:34Speaker 4: a flag football, so it's really fun to watch too.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I'm like super excited about how it's going to play
- 3:39Speaker 4: out in the Olympics. It's gonna be awesome. And last
- 3:42Speaker 4: time they tried to do break dancing that was a fail.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Chick from Australia up and like a kangaroo. But this
- 3:49Speaker 4: is like an actual, real, real sport. Not to demean
- 3:53Speaker 4: the breakdancers out there. I know we got a lot
- 3:55Speaker 4: of breakdancer listeners all over the world. Good good for
- 3:59Speaker 4: y'all time and probably not the Olympics.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Flag football. I can get behind this. I'm excited.
- 4:08Speaker 6: Like so the the high school age kids last week
- 4:11Speaker 6: were really good, but.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Those six year olds were electric. Oh yeah, that's where
- 4:15Speaker 2: I was out.
- 4:15Speaker 6: I'm telling the six year old group six and eight,
- 4:18Speaker 6: they were, they were awesome. We had to give a
- 4:19Speaker 6: player of the week, so I had to call him
- 4:21Speaker 6: on the field. Give a player of the week for
- 4:22Speaker 6: each age group. Uh The eight year old kid threw
- 4:25Speaker 6: his hand up in the area and shouted when I
- 4:27Speaker 6: gave him Player of the Week.
- 4:28Speaker 2: It was awesome. So you're calling like what do you?
- 4:30Speaker 2: What do you? What's your role?
- 4:32Speaker 6: It's not play by play, but think like, okay, this
- 4:34Speaker 6: team on this field, boom boom boom, this team?
- 4:37Speaker 2: Where are you? Who are you talking to? At this point?
- 4:40Speaker 2: The parents in the stands? Parents? Is okay? So you're
- 4:43Speaker 2: like MC in this thing?
- 4:44Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not. It's not played by play.
- 4:46Speaker 6: It's more like just kind of gotcha posting the thing.
- 4:50Speaker 6: Take ta, pa, but I'm on the field instead in
- 4:54Speaker 6: the in the box, yeah, Pa, not mc.
- 4:58Speaker 2: MC would work too. I think.
- 5:01Speaker 4: For sports it's probably the Yeah, it's okay, how are
- 5:05Speaker 4: you gonna get there?
- 5:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna drive there. What are you you're gonna drive? Yeah?
- 5:12Speaker 2: Watch your car didn't work? It works? All right? How
- 5:17Speaker 2: well it works? Is it gonna be the same car
- 5:21Speaker 2: I drive it? Yeah? Yeah, that'll be. That'll be a
- 5:23Speaker 2: Sunday matter in the market. Yep. I know it's gonna
- 5:30Speaker 2: be exciting.
- 5:31Speaker 6: I mean, you know, with everything else going on, why
- 5:33Speaker 6: not just throw this on top of it too?
- 5:35Speaker 2: Matt, Yeah, and it's funny.
- 5:39Speaker 6: I Uh, I was telling you think about downsizing a
- 5:42Speaker 6: little bit, but I was like, wait a minute, I'm
- 5:44Speaker 6: going full dad mood. I'm going to bring a car
- 5:47Speaker 6: seat with me that we already have. Put it in
- 5:50Speaker 6: the back seat, make sure if fit's properly, make sure
- 5:51Speaker 6: I can hook it up. That's gonna be like biggest tests.
- 5:54Speaker 6: So a little bit of changes. If this would have
- 5:57Speaker 6: been two years ago to have been like.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Oh that one looks cool. Uh Carolina squat. No, not immediately.
- 6:08Speaker 2: They don't off a lot like that.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Taylor usually wants his car is so low he can't
- 6:14Speaker 4: get over speed bumps. Oh yeah, it's me excited about that. Well,
- 6:21Speaker 4: it's exciting though. New cars always fun.
- 6:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm fired up about it. I mean the truck
- 6:27Speaker 6: I have now, you know, paid off, so I go
- 6:29Speaker 6: a truck note not the funnest thing in the world,
- 6:32Speaker 6: but yeah, it'll be it'll be nice.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It's time.
- 6:34Speaker 6: It's one of those things where you're like, I don't
- 6:36Speaker 6: want to do it, but I know it needs to.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It's just it's part of.
- 6:39Speaker 4: It, part of the deal. I elandra anymore. As the
- 6:46Speaker 4: Orange Cat come back.
- 6:47Speaker 5: I've not seen that. I wasn't really home yesterday because
- 6:51Speaker 5: I was at Marucci with Matt, so I didn't see
- 6:53Speaker 5: the cat yesterday, so unsure where he's at. I didn't
- 6:58Speaker 5: see him this morning.
- 6:58Speaker 2: She was working on our swinging away on three zero
- 7:01Speaker 2: counts A. Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I was hopefully the cat didn't starve to death because
- 7:05Speaker 4: you didn't feed it.
- 7:06Speaker 5: He looked pretty well fed.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Somebody's got to feed him, and it wasn't you.
- 7:13Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure the other neighbors that had him well
- 7:15Speaker 5: fed were probing him. Feel it made me feel bad
- 7:19Speaker 5: about this.
- 7:20Speaker 4: The chat reygun Reygun was the name of the breakdancer.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Couldn't think of it. I saw that actually hit my
- 7:27Speaker 4: feed the other day. Strangely enough, I don't know how,
- 7:31Speaker 4: but it did. Her hopping away on the Olympic stage.
- 7:38Speaker 4: The I was reading this morning, kind of looking at
- 7:42Speaker 4: kind of all all the to dos and trying to
- 7:46Speaker 4: keep up to date with all the sports all over
- 7:49Speaker 4: the place. There was an interesting article that I read about.
- 7:56Speaker 4: And I know we've gotten a little bit political this
- 7:59Speaker 4: week here on this ship talking about the men's hockey team,
- 8:05Speaker 4: but there was a article that came out, I think
- 8:10Speaker 4: this was on on three about President Donald Trump is
- 8:15Speaker 4: calling a roundtable discussion to discuss the state of college football.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Is there a fix? Is there a way forward? Is
- 8:24Speaker 4: there a way to clean it up? And it's got
- 8:26Speaker 4: a pretty star studded invit list it's going to be
- 8:30Speaker 4: joining this roundtable. They have invited Nick Saban, Tim Tebow
- 8:38Speaker 4: for some reason, Cody Campbell, which is a Texas Tech
- 8:42Speaker 4: big booster. I think Cody Campbell has been interviewed, like
- 8:44Speaker 4: on Pat McAfee, like he's been very outspoken about his
- 8:50Speaker 4: his role in the boost, the booster role and just
- 8:54Speaker 4: how that's affected Texas Tech and everything. Big ten commissioner
- 8:58Speaker 4: Tom Tony Pettiti, Greg Sank, Brett Yormark with a Big
- 9:03Speaker 4: twelve Commissioner Jim Phillips ACC Commissioner, like some randoms too,
- 9:08Speaker 4: like Tiger Woods, Bryson d Sam, Adam Silver, Condoleeza, Rice
- 9:13Speaker 4: urban Meyer, and Donald Trump is going to serve as
- 9:17Speaker 4: chair of this meeting Ron DeSantis and New York Yankees
- 9:20Speaker 4: President Randy Randy Levine is going to serve as vice chair.
- 9:26Speaker 4: So like this is yeah, Adam's uncle, so this is
- 9:29Speaker 4: like actually a real deal White House meeting. I think
- 9:34Speaker 4: Trump has kind of always been outspoken about or vocal
- 9:39Speaker 4: at least in his willingness to play a role or
- 9:42Speaker 4: like the federal government or the White House playing a
- 9:44Speaker 4: role in college athletics and like this world of nil
- 9:47Speaker 4: and transfer portal. And I read this and just like
- 9:51Speaker 4: reading the reading the headlines, I'm like, great, yeah, awesome, Like,
- 9:55Speaker 4: because there's no way that anybody's ever going to fix
- 9:58Speaker 4: this unless it comes from the highest level. Yeah, We've
- 10:02Speaker 4: always talked about like it's got to be some sort
- 10:04Speaker 4: of bill that's passed, or congressional involvement, or it's got
- 10:07Speaker 4: to be some sort of federal involvement if there's ever
- 10:10Speaker 4: going to be any chance of getting the toothpaste back in.
- 10:13Speaker 5: No, I'm sure the government's going to clean this up
- 10:15Speaker 5: and make it way more efficient.
- 10:17Speaker 4: For sure, you gonna doze it. But look, I applaud
- 10:24Speaker 4: the trying. It doesn't hurt to have a conversation. Certainly,
- 10:28Speaker 4: there's a lot of people Nick Saban's probably the first
- 10:31Speaker 4: person that's listed in this article like.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Being invited to this thing.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Like, if there's ever going to be a chance of
- 10:38Speaker 4: anything happening, they have to do it at that type
- 10:43Speaker 4: of level. And look, it doesn't hurt to have discussions.
- 10:46Speaker 4: I'm sure there's gonna be discussions like here's like what
- 10:49Speaker 4: we like legally, what can be done, what cannot be done?
- 10:53Speaker 4: And this isn't going to be the show that can
- 10:55Speaker 4: tell you those things. It's just looking at this from
- 10:58Speaker 4: a thousand foot view for them for trying. And it
- 11:01Speaker 4: certainly has a like a list of people going to
- 11:05Speaker 4: the meeting for this roundtable discussion at the White House
- 11:08Speaker 4: that can potentially talk about it because we know, like
- 11:10Speaker 4: we've talked about it a ton like college football when
- 11:13Speaker 4: college athletics in general is absolutely one drunk, and it
- 11:16Speaker 4: starts with college football. The bell count, everything that schedules
- 11:19Speaker 4: messed up more than any other sport. The schedules messed up,
- 11:24Speaker 4: the calendar, everything is just strange about it.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Now.
- 11:27Speaker 4: The product on the field is beautiful and it's great
- 11:31Speaker 4: and it's amazing, but it's everything that surrounds it that
- 11:36Speaker 4: affects people's overall view of college football. I believe it
- 11:40Speaker 4: certainly affects mine my personally. I hate some things about it.
- 11:43Speaker 4: I love the product, I love watching the games, but
- 11:46Speaker 4: I hate a lot of things about it. And I
- 11:47Speaker 4: think we all think that it needs to be more
- 11:49Speaker 4: common sense. There needs to be more guardrails, there needs
- 11:51Speaker 4: to be more bumpers, but it's never gonna really happen
- 11:56Speaker 4: unless there is a higher involvement. And maybe this discussion
- 12:01Speaker 4: is just an jury of an entry point, an on
- 12:05Speaker 4: ramp to how do we even do that? Like how
- 12:08Speaker 4: would that even be done? What needs to be fixed?
- 12:10Speaker 4: Because there's a lot, but like where do we start?
- 12:12Speaker 4: I can't do everything at once, But if there's a
- 12:15Speaker 4: chance to do something, maybe it's something small, Like we've
- 12:18Speaker 4: all we've seen people, media people and college football people
- 12:22Speaker 4: all over the place give their opinions on what needs
- 12:25Speaker 4: to be done. Well, let's get a little roundtable discussion
- 12:27Speaker 4: on what can truly be done, Like what could actually
- 12:32Speaker 4: legally be done in some sort of timely manner, maybe
- 12:35Speaker 4: develop some sort of plan of how do we work.
- 12:38Speaker 4: We know NIL is not going anywhere. We're not, they're not.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Nobody's trying to change that. College athletes are getting paid,
- 12:44Speaker 4: that's never going backwards. But the little things like the schedule,
- 12:48Speaker 4: the transfer portal windows, the timing of games, the timings
- 12:52Speaker 4: of national signing days, like all these things that when
- 12:58Speaker 4: people that are just sports fans, that aren't just college football,
- 13:01Speaker 4: Like in Louisiana we were a little bit spoiled because
- 13:04Speaker 4: of our college foot like because of LSU. Everybody's good
- 13:06Speaker 4: like we are, so folks hyper focused on college athletics.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Not everybody else in the country is. But when people
- 13:12Speaker 4: that are just sports fans that are focused on everything,
- 13:15Speaker 4: when they look at like the Lane Kiffin situation, like
- 13:20Speaker 4: that stunk because of the calendar. Nothing else, like coaches
- 13:25Speaker 4: leave all the time, they go take other jobs all
- 13:28Speaker 4: the time. It was the timing of everything. So it's
- 13:30Speaker 4: the things like that that can be fixed, I feel like,
- 13:33Speaker 4: but it does have to come from a highland. So
- 13:35Speaker 4: kudos to them. Anybody any on the other side of
- 13:38Speaker 4: the glass, and any thoughts on the administration calling a
- 13:43Speaker 4: meeting at the White.
- 13:44Speaker 5: House, I kind of think they have other stuff to
- 13:46Speaker 5: worry about.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't.
- 13:48Speaker 6: I don't like when the government, like we've talked about
- 13:50Speaker 6: this before. I don't like when judges, federal judges get
- 13:53Speaker 6: involved in college football at local judges, No worry about
- 13:57Speaker 6: your own stuff, Like it's college football. It's it's like
- 14:00Speaker 6: not even the real world. It's college sports, guys, let's
- 14:03Speaker 6: focus on that. But I mean, you brought up a
- 14:05Speaker 6: point of I appreciate the effort. I appreciate them trying,
- 14:09Speaker 6: Like Russell Dellen should put this out yesterday that the
- 14:12Speaker 6: NCAA sent members a memo announcing they were planning to
- 14:16Speaker 6: aggressively pursue tampering violators with significant penalties. And you know,
- 14:21Speaker 6: they put out a few of what it would be
- 14:24Speaker 6: like some of the guardrails that they want to put
- 14:26Speaker 6: up prevent me.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Remember Dabo Dabo called them out.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Ole Miss fans got the tizzy when blank Kiffin went
- 14:32Speaker 6: after like one Ole Miss player. They said that the
- 14:35Speaker 6: head coach would be prohibited from all football and administrative
- 14:39Speaker 6: duties through the sixth game of the season, so essentially
- 14:42Speaker 6: a six game suspension if they were called. The school
- 14:45Speaker 6: would be fined twenty percent of its football budget. I
- 14:48Speaker 6: mean LSU makes multimillion dollars a year off of football.
- 14:51Speaker 6: That's a pretty big chunk of cash. Like you could say, oh,
- 14:54Speaker 6: twenty percent, that's big. And another one would be the
- 14:57Speaker 6: school would be required to reduce the number of roster
- 14:59Speaker 6: spot it's by five for the next season, regardless of
- 15:03Speaker 6: if the coach is still at that school. So if
- 15:06Speaker 6: a coach is called Tambourine. You move on from him
- 15:08Speaker 6: and fire him, it doesn't really matter. So these are
- 15:10Speaker 6: just some things that they have proposed. So there's a
- 15:13Speaker 6: lot of talk, I mean, Donald Trump, know Donald Trump
- 15:16Speaker 6: across the NCAA of we got to do something to
- 15:19Speaker 6: maybe kind of rain this thing in a little bit.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Something used to be done. But I don't know why
- 15:22Speaker 5: we can't just have that committee without the diplomats or
- 15:27Speaker 5: like the government, you know what I.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Mean, because like and I guess at the heart of it,
- 15:33Speaker 4: if they could have the committee, but they're not gonna
- 15:36Speaker 4: have any say. So I'm not saying that the White
- 15:39Speaker 4: House will, but I guess if there's anybody that could, it.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Would be the White House.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Like Taylor, you say you don't like the judges being
- 15:46Speaker 4: involved in it, Well, the NCAAA is not enforcing anything.
- 15:50Speaker 4: They can't Well, because schools found the loophole.
- 15:55Speaker 2: They just get their local like no point.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Like nothing highlights that point better than our own coach
- 16:00Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin. You know, he's fantastic on social media, very active.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Did you see him at Dez Bryant yesterday? It does
- 16:08Speaker 4: Bryant just tweet something that he does. Brant just said,
- 16:11Speaker 4: good morning, yeah, and randomly Blane Kiffin said, good morning,
- 16:15Speaker 4: does want to get an injunction today? Like it's a
- 16:20Speaker 4: joke and it's funny, but it's also kind kind of true. No,
- 16:25Speaker 4: it's it's real. And look, the NCAA. You can criticize
- 16:29Speaker 4: them over plenty of things over the years. I'm not
- 16:30Speaker 4: saying you can't.
- 16:31Speaker 6: But all the people that are against the changes and
- 16:34Speaker 6: everything happening in college football, I hear time and time again, well,
- 16:37Speaker 6: why doesn't the NCAA a step in and do something
- 16:40Speaker 6: they can't? The NCAA will oppose a rule and a
- 16:42Speaker 6: player in a school just be like, oh we're suing,
- 16:44Speaker 6: We'll take them to court, put a rule in our favor.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Don't care like their hands are completely tied here. I
- 16:49Speaker 6: don't know what people expect them to do.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Yeah, let's not like defend the NCAA in any of
- 16:54Speaker 4: this because they they opened up the floodgates. You started it, right,
- 16:57Speaker 4: you started it, and you got your surprised that a
- 17:03Speaker 4: country full of businessmen in competitive states found loopholes in
- 17:08Speaker 4: ways to say you got absolutely no power. And that's
- 17:11Speaker 4: what they've done. Now, how do you get it back?
- 17:14Speaker 4: They certainly can't get it back. Somebody is going to
- 17:17Speaker 4: have to get something back to some power to somebody
- 17:21Speaker 4: and not leave it up to as when Kiffen pointed
- 17:25Speaker 4: out injunctions and local judges who probably graduated from that
- 17:31Speaker 4: Alma water.
- 17:32Speaker 2: So it's like, what's happening?
- 17:35Speaker 4: So I, from my seat applaud the effort, and I
- 17:40Speaker 4: hope that there's something that can be done, at least
- 17:43Speaker 4: little things like just something like somebody show a little backbone,
- 17:47Speaker 4: somebody shows something that we can change a little bit. Yeah,
- 17:51Speaker 4: I don't have a lot of faith in it because
- 17:54Speaker 4: I think, like I said, the best business people in
- 17:57Speaker 4: the country and competitive states are always going to try
- 18:00Speaker 4: to find a way. But certainly sanctions would help. Certainly
- 18:05Speaker 4: penalties would help, but who's gonna enforce them? I got
- 18:08Speaker 4: no idea. And will we see Desbrian in LSU uniform
- 18:12Speaker 4: next year? Was really the main point of this whole segment, hope,
- 18:16Speaker 4: So get those get those injunctions filed. All right, we're
- 18:21Speaker 4: gonna kinda break You got anything to say, Kane, No,
- 18:24Speaker 4: all right, we're gonna go break stick with us, off
- 18:26Speaker 4: the bench.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, you tired of talking about college football, college athletics,
- 18:36Speaker 4: how messed up it is.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Well, maybe you need a nice cold beer and that's
- 18:42Speaker 2: gonna be dough.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Secis do sekis that delicious Mexican lagger, lagger especial. I
- 18:50Speaker 4: think that's Spanish for special amber especial, Liman salt zero,
- 18:56Speaker 4: the Chlada, michelada, chilada, mango apple, you name it, they
- 19:01Speaker 4: got it.
- 19:01Speaker 2: So if you it's the weekend, it's Friday. Look.
- 19:03Speaker 4: We like to South Louisiana. We love to kick back,
- 19:06Speaker 4: relax with our family, our friends. We love to have
- 19:08Speaker 4: a good time. We love to laugh, we love to
- 19:10Speaker 4: tell stories. And guess what a little drink in the hand,
- 19:14Speaker 4: make sure it's a dose. Seconds you go to your
- 19:15Speaker 4: local watering hole, you go to your local grocery store,
- 19:18Speaker 4: wherever it is, wherever you find your stuff, make sure
- 19:20Speaker 4: you're grabbing that green bottle, a big green can, whatever
- 19:24Speaker 4: it is. Two x's on the front State thirty. My
- 19:26Speaker 4: friends do responsibly, But when you do drink, do sequis.
- 19:33Speaker 1: I can't go any further than these.
- 19:41Speaker 3: It's my biggest wish, from the locker room to the airwaves.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Gets off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And all those things. We used to, used to, used to,
- 19:54Speaker 1: used to do.
- 19:55Speaker 4: All right, welcome back here number two from the Raised
- 19:59Speaker 4: Canes Studio. I think we pretty much solved everything college
- 20:04Speaker 4: football was college athletics.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I was last segment.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Tiger Woods alone. Probably absolutely Condeza Rice.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I was writing her name down in my little notes here.
- 20:20Speaker 4: I've never spelled her name before.
- 20:22Speaker 2: It's spelled ridiculous easy Ez.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Doubles, absolutely ridiculous. Thank you for you know, service work
- 20:36Speaker 4: for the country. Actually a member of Augusta National as well.
- 20:42Speaker 4: One can only dream that is one of my bucket
- 20:46Speaker 4: list goals in life, as well as like tens of
- 20:49Speaker 4: thousands of other people play Augusta National. I'm just throwing
- 20:56Speaker 4: that out there, so if anybody's listening, No, I haven't.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I've been. I've entered the lottery the last two years
- 21:02Speaker 2: and didn't hit.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Dang, you don't know anybody. I mean, how can you
- 21:08Speaker 5: get in the Kentucky Derby but you can't get to
- 21:10Speaker 5: Augusta True.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I know somebody.
- 21:12Speaker 6: I mean it's a little bit more scott rabble egos
- 21:15Speaker 6: every year. Nice to the masters.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I can get I can get a credential. Yeah, that's
- 21:20Speaker 2: that's what he does.
- 21:20Speaker 6: The advocate gets him a credential every year and he
- 21:22Speaker 6: goes to the masters.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Off the bench coming from you from amen corner'd be awesome.
- 21:36Speaker 4: You can just set up the table right right right there,
- 21:40Speaker 4: right there on the green. Yeah, I play the balls.
- 21:44Speaker 4: It lies, Bud.
- 21:45Speaker 6: You could be an extra obstacle. They're like, you're gonna
- 21:47Speaker 6: have to hit the ball over the radio host he's
- 21:52Speaker 6: about two twenty out.
- 21:55Speaker 2: No, I will not be quiet. I'm on radio.
- 21:57Speaker 4: I'm live. Give the people what they want, these hot takes.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Roy mcroy's lined up to putt and he hears me go, babe, God,
- 22:20Speaker 4: it's Friday.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Guys, did you see you? Do you do one show?
- 22:23Speaker 6: Guarantee send you for like the week you call them
- 22:25Speaker 6: me Like, guys, I got kicked out day one.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Want to come back. We took my credential. Let's do
- 22:32Speaker 2: it from the parking lot. Parking lot of Augusta at
- 22:35Speaker 2: least that would have been there.
- 22:38Speaker 4: So, just like tens of thousands of other people, that's
- 22:40Speaker 4: one of my bucket lists, of course, play Augusta National.
- 22:44Speaker 4: I'm starting to get a little bit wary, and no,
- 22:49Speaker 4: I'm not as confident as I once was that it's
- 22:51Speaker 4: gonna happen.
- 22:52Speaker 5: No, it's gonna happen. Okay, Okay, I don't know how
- 22:55Speaker 5: it's gonna happen, but you're gonna be at Augusta.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I really appreciate that attitude. There's not that many members. Yeah, you.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Have to know at least one person that is in
- 23:09Speaker 5: Augusta or like has connections to it. You have to.
- 23:12Speaker 4: I mean, I know a couple of people that have played,
- 23:16Speaker 4: but I don't know who they played with.
- 23:19Speaker 5: But also I'm going to just speak it into existence
- 23:21Speaker 5: that you're going to get the lottery.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 4: So, like I believe even like members, they are regulated
- 23:29Speaker 4: on how many rounds they can play a year. Now
- 23:32Speaker 4: they can play a lot, of course, but so they
- 23:35Speaker 4: are very choosy of course on people they bring. Of course,
- 23:39Speaker 4: the if you're a member of Augusta, you have to
- 23:41Speaker 4: be invited. You can't apply, like it's a secret club.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Got to be invited, not cheap. It doesn't really matter
- 23:51Speaker 4: who you are. Everybody's treated the same.
- 23:54Speaker 6: But look for you, the person you're you know, the
- 23:58Speaker 6: best that's the best shot is obviously Aaron Rodgers. But
- 24:02Speaker 6: how close are you to anyone affiliated with the Patriots
- 24:07Speaker 6: or Raiders because I promise you tom Brady could get
- 24:09Speaker 6: you in.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Tom Brady can play a ghost if he wants to look.
- 24:14Speaker 4: I don't know if I mean tom Brady could find somebody.
- 24:18Speaker 4: If he's not a member, he can find somebody that
- 24:21Speaker 4: is a member. But he's not Peyton. He's not calling
- 24:25Speaker 4: Augusta and saying let me play around. That ain't happening.
- 24:28Speaker 4: I don't care who you are. He could get in, though,
- 24:30Speaker 4: he could find somebody to take him. I'm sure anybody
- 24:32Speaker 4: who getting off at the best to take him. I
- 24:34Speaker 4: believe Peyton Manning is a member. I believe Jake knows
- 24:37Speaker 4: Peyton Manning.
- 24:38Speaker 2: That's the rumors. Why'd you point it, Kane? Is Jake's
- 24:42Speaker 2: normally sitting there? Kine has no I don't think dogs
- 24:46Speaker 2: are allows. A dog poop on the green.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Someone that's listening to has to have something. So if
- 24:56Speaker 5: you if you love Matt Flinn, Matt Flynn won y'all
- 24:58Speaker 5: in national championship, get this man to.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Augusta, take me to Augusta. Please.
- 25:06Speaker 5: There's someone else, is it Todd Polites that always goes to.
- 25:10Speaker 2: It sounds like a Todd thing.
- 25:13Speaker 5: I might have that wrong, but somebody over there like
- 25:15Speaker 5: in the sports properties always goes Man when you and
- 25:24Speaker 5: Natty you can't get him to Augusta.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Come on, Kane, what about your well your owner?
- 25:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Todd.
- 25:32Speaker 2: That he's gone.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Well, I think the odds are probably like minus probably
- 25:41Speaker 4: thirty five hundred that I probably won't play.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Your olds are better.
- 25:46Speaker 5: You've like you've some odds for some of the stuff
- 25:50Speaker 5: that you've done in your life is probably pretty high.
- 25:52Speaker 4: To JP, LeBlanc in the chest said, I couldn't even
- 25:56Speaker 4: get into play Angola.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Angla does have a little golf course in a rodeo.
- 26:03Speaker 2: It's a great rodeo.
- 26:04Speaker 5: No, but I hear it's great.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Taylor, have you.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Been where they once? When I was really really young,
- 26:11Speaker 6: Like I don't remember. I have like a picture of
- 26:13Speaker 6: me like they had like a stealthed bull, but I don't.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I don't remember it. Uh, we went.
- 26:19Speaker 4: The only time I've ever been was when we were
- 26:21Speaker 4: living in Saint Francisville and Huck was actually like newborn newborn.
- 26:26Speaker 2: This was like that.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I think it was the Fall the Fall rodeo and
- 26:29Speaker 4: he was born in early September.
- 26:32Speaker 2: It took him. It was really it was fantastic.
- 26:35Speaker 4: A lot of crafts people loading up on rocking chairs
- 26:39Speaker 4: and cutting boards and all sorts of stuff made there.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear the arts actually pretty good.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Yeah that's actually yeah, it was, it was. It was
- 26:46Speaker 4: actually really fun, really enjoyable. I'm sure a lot of
- 26:48Speaker 4: people listen and have been maybe multiple times. Yeah, people
- 26:52Speaker 4: do they like bring trailers and load up on Yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 4: you know, handmade furniture and all sorts of cool stuff.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Very fun. I'd about to go.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Should we call it J Clark?
- 27:04Speaker 4: Yes, we're gonna go to break and when we come back,
- 27:06Speaker 4: we will chat with your head coach of your LSU
- 27:10Speaker 4: gymnastics scene. So stick with us right here off the bench,
- 27:13Speaker 4: mofter bench. I go to trash rangers dot com. Trash
- 27:18Speaker 4: rangers dot com. You you're number one, your most reliable
- 27:23Speaker 4: trash and waste removal service in Louisiana.
- 27:26Speaker 2: So we've again I told you to day.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I was driving around and I saw a big red
- 27:30Speaker 4: rolloff dumpster. Well I saw another one yesterday on interstate rolling.
- 27:34Speaker 4: They see me rolling with a rolloff dumpster. No matter,
- 27:37Speaker 4: they got three different sizes. So, no matter the size
- 27:40Speaker 4: of your project, if you have a special project, if
- 27:42Speaker 4: you're cleaning out the cleaning out the attic, maybe clean
- 27:45Speaker 4: out the house, cleaning out in office, whatever it is.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Maybe you're moving and you just got a bunch of waste.
- 27:49Speaker 4: We'll call and talk to him about that roll off dumpster.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Three sizes that youse from You tell them, just talk
- 27:54Speaker 4: to the person answers about your project, what's happening. They
- 27:57Speaker 4: will size it perfectly for that job. And it's flat
- 28:00Speaker 4: pricing on a roll up dumpster. And I can't like
- 28:02Speaker 4: emphasize that enough because I've done a lot of them
- 28:04Speaker 4: from different companies and it's never flat right, And it's like, oh, yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 4: you can pay this, And I'm like, oh, that sounds great.
- 28:09Speaker 4: We'll fit get the final invoice. And well there's fuel
- 28:13Speaker 4: search ARGs. There's all these different fees not with trash Rangers.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Go check them out. Trash rangers dot.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Com two thousand and seven.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Shams Purple and Gold to the core.
- 28:32Speaker 3: This is Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Baton
- 28:35Speaker 3: Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 28:41Speaker 4: All right, welcome back right here off the Bench Friday
- 28:44Speaker 4: morning five from the Raizy Kines Studio. We are honored
- 28:48Speaker 4: to have coach Jay Clark your head coach of LSU
- 28:52Speaker 4: Gymnastics name joining the show this morning. We are thankful
- 28:56Speaker 4: each and every week that he joins. Coach, how you doing.
- 28:59Speaker 7: Doing good this morning?
- 29:00Speaker 2: Guys, Hell, y'all doing fantastic.
- 29:02Speaker 4: We appreciate the time and apologize for being a couple
- 29:04Speaker 4: of minutes late. There is absolutely no reason for it.
- 29:06Speaker 4: We just absolutely just went off. We saw a squirrel
- 29:09Speaker 4: last segment and we just kind of kind of lost
- 29:11Speaker 4: track of time. So we apologize for the delay here, coach,
- 29:14Speaker 4: But glad that you're joining us. Well, let's talk about
- 29:18Speaker 4: let's talk about this past week. Let's talk about your
- 29:20Speaker 4: team and headed into a head and end the night
- 29:23Speaker 4: as well. So last week, last week, last Friday, you
- 29:25Speaker 4: lose a great match to a fantastic Oklahoma team, of course,
- 29:29Speaker 4: but you put up a season high road score, kaylen
- 29:33Speaker 4: Chio with a pair of tens on the night.
- 29:35Speaker 2: How do you think.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Let's let's get a little recap of that meat and
- 29:39Speaker 4: how how your team did well?
- 29:42Speaker 7: I mean, you know, in our sport and people hear
- 29:44Speaker 7: me say this and they they kind of get confused.
- 29:47Speaker 7: It's the wins and losses don't determine an awful lot
- 29:50Speaker 7: for us. It's you know, our our scoring average is
- 29:52Speaker 7: what determines how we're seated in the postseason. So even
- 29:55Speaker 7: in a loss, we ended up improving our position nationally
- 30:00Speaker 7: and putting some distance between us and and uh some
- 30:04Speaker 7: other people that are that are below us. But at
- 30:06Speaker 7: the same time, we do want to win them all
- 30:08Speaker 7: and and uh it does matter to us. But when
- 30:11Speaker 7: you go into an environment like that Oklahoma had their
- 30:14Speaker 7: first sell out and program history of an incredible environment very
- 30:17Speaker 7: similar to what we experienced here at feedback on a
- 30:20Speaker 7: regular basis, and and uh it was a great environment.
- 30:24Speaker 7: And when you can stay within two tenths of a
- 30:26Speaker 7: team that's at or above where you're scoring averages, you
- 30:31Speaker 7: you kind of come away feeling like, in many ways
- 30:34Speaker 7: that's a win. It's uh, you our environment is probably
- 30:39Speaker 7: worth two tents to us and and uh and so
- 30:41Speaker 7: when you can stay with them and and and do
- 30:44Speaker 7: what you've done is the competence booster, even in defeat,
- 30:47Speaker 7: which is kind of anesthetical to the way most people think.
- 30:51Speaker 7: But at the same time, we felt good about what
- 30:53Speaker 7: we did. I felt like we raised our floor. Which
- 30:55Speaker 7: has sort of been a theme of ours this year
- 30:57Speaker 7: is that every week we want to raise our floor.
- 30:59Speaker 7: We don't know where our ceiling is. We think our
- 31:01Speaker 7: ceiling is very very high. But but every week, week
- 31:05Speaker 7: over week, we want to raise our floor. And we
- 31:07Speaker 7: felt like we did that.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Yeah, because you're you're your leader, Kaylin. She has a
- 31:11Speaker 4: pair of tins on the night. Yet, just for the
- 31:13Speaker 4: the lay man out there, talk tell us what goes
- 31:17Speaker 4: into a perfect How incredibly difficult is that to achieve
- 31:24Speaker 4: in gymnastics because obviously it's a perfect score, there's no
- 31:27Speaker 4: flaws in any but like from they has to be
- 31:30Speaker 4: the best of the best doing the best routine on
- 31:32Speaker 4: a special night. But your team continues to make it
- 31:35Speaker 4: look a little bit routine. How just how difficult is
- 31:37Speaker 4: that to do well?
- 31:39Speaker 7: She in particular makes it look routine and and honestly
- 31:41Speaker 7: on the ball, and I thought she had done some
- 31:43Speaker 7: better balls that had not gotten that And and there
- 31:45Speaker 7: is a subjectivity to all of it, you know, it's
- 31:47Speaker 7: what's seen by that judge in that moment, and and
- 31:51Speaker 7: uh so it was a it was one hell of
- 31:53Speaker 7: a ball for sure that she that she did, But
- 31:57Speaker 7: we felt like there were some others that probably could
- 31:59Speaker 7: have done the same thing. So much of it is
- 32:01Speaker 7: you know, the level of consistency that you show, and
- 32:03Speaker 7: you know, it's like anything else. Michael Jordan could get
- 32:05Speaker 7: away with a lot of stuff on the court because
- 32:08Speaker 7: because of the reputation that he built for himself as
- 32:10Speaker 7: being the best player ever and and so similar similar
- 32:14Speaker 7: to that. Over time, you know, you you you build
- 32:16Speaker 7: a reputation for doing things at the highest level and
- 32:19Speaker 7: the most consistent level. And and sometimes there's an expectation
- 32:22Speaker 7: that gets built into the human element of judging what
- 32:25Speaker 7: is inherently a subjective sport. You know, all sports have
- 32:29Speaker 7: subjectivity in him, ours is the most obvious because everything
- 32:32Speaker 7: is judged. But uh, you're not going to tell me
- 32:35Speaker 7: that colling balls and strikes is not subjected. And you're
- 32:37Speaker 7: not going to tell me that that past interference is
- 32:40Speaker 7: not subjected. So there's there's a lot of things that
- 32:43Speaker 7: are that are similar. Ours is just most obvious. And
- 32:45Speaker 7: I think she's just more than anything. She does an
- 32:47Speaker 7: amazing job being consistent week over week, and I think
- 32:50Speaker 7: that helps her achieve those individual accolades. Although you're not
- 32:54Speaker 7: gonna hear me talking awful lot about the individual stuff.
- 32:56Speaker 7: It's very short lived with us and and it's not
- 32:59Speaker 7: something that we really emphasize it all. I'm just glad
- 33:01Speaker 7: she's on our team and puts those kind of numbers
- 33:03Speaker 7: up for us.
- 33:04Speaker 4: Yeah, because you bring up that's such a great point
- 33:06Speaker 4: because anywhere in life, and especially in sports, that subjectivity
- 33:10Speaker 4: comes into play in so many things. And the person
- 33:13Speaker 4: that is consistent, usually whether a ref for a judge
- 33:17Speaker 4: means to or not, will give you the benefit of
- 33:19Speaker 4: the doubt. And certainly she wins at SEC Gymnast of
- 33:21Speaker 4: the week for I think the fourth time this year,
- 33:23Speaker 4: which is gonna give you a lot of benefit of
- 33:25Speaker 4: the doubt. Yeah, but you come back home. You're coming
- 33:28Speaker 4: back home tonight. Look to continue your dominance at home.
- 33:31Speaker 4: I believe it's an eighteen meet win streak in the
- 33:33Speaker 4: PMAC and looking to extend that to nineteen take on Aliban,
- 33:38Speaker 4: number three, Alabama and the PMACK. How are you feeling?
- 33:41Speaker 4: I believe we're getting pretty close to the postseason here,
- 33:45Speaker 4: So how are you feeling coming back home? Yeah?
- 33:47Speaker 7: I mean we feel really good. The thing you got
- 33:49Speaker 7: to worry about is you come out of a big
- 33:51Speaker 7: emotional build up and high of going on the road
- 33:55Speaker 7: one versus two, and how does that affect you? But
- 33:57Speaker 7: I've been I've been pretty pleased with what I've seen
- 34:00Speaker 7: in preparation this week. I think we're in a good place.
- 34:03Speaker 7: We we know that Alabama is a vastly improved team
- 34:06Speaker 7: over over what they were last year, and and fully
- 34:08Speaker 7: expect them to push us and give us a test
- 34:10Speaker 7: in there tonight. And and that's where our environment comes
- 34:13Speaker 7: into play, because you know, uh, the battery can get
- 34:16Speaker 7: drained when you get late in the season like this,
- 34:18Speaker 7: and it can, it can. It can be tough to
- 34:20Speaker 7: get up week over week over week and stay at
- 34:23Speaker 7: that at that fever page. So we need our fans
- 34:25Speaker 7: to get in there early and loud and and prime
- 34:30Speaker 7: prime the pump, if you will, a little bit, and
- 34:32Speaker 7: and and get in there and create an environment for us.
- 34:35Speaker 7: But we're excited about it. I think we're relatively healthy
- 34:38Speaker 7: for the most part. We helped some kids out last
- 34:40Speaker 7: week against Oklahoma, and still we're able to do what
- 34:43Speaker 7: we did and and uh, I think over the last
- 34:45Speaker 7: the last three weeks of the season, our goal is
- 34:47Speaker 7: to continue to improve but also get get a little
- 34:50Speaker 7: bit healthier and be all guns of blazing when by
- 34:53Speaker 7: the time we get into March and.
- 34:54Speaker 4: April because I'm curious as to like you talk. I
- 34:57Speaker 4: know that the PMAC and your team, they have the
- 35:01Speaker 4: advantage of having some of the best fan bases and
- 35:04Speaker 4: the best home crowds in the entire country. What does
- 35:07Speaker 4: that mean to your girls when they're performing? And I know,
- 35:11Speaker 4: like when you go on the road, it's not necessarily
- 35:12Speaker 4: like some of the other sports where it's like super
- 35:14Speaker 4: hostile environment when you're performing on the road, but you'd
- 35:17Speaker 4: be surprised, I can imagine for sure, But I'm assuming
- 35:22Speaker 4: that it gives them. I think you talked about it
- 35:24Speaker 4: earlier in an answer about maybe a two tenths advantage
- 35:27Speaker 4: or something close to that. But like, what is that
- 35:30Speaker 4: feel like for the girl? What is that advantage they
- 35:32Speaker 4: get from the home crub.
- 35:34Speaker 7: Well, it's just the energy that comes down you walk
- 35:36Speaker 7: into a room of thirteen thousand people that don't necessarily
- 35:39Speaker 7: know everything about your sport because it you know, they
- 35:43Speaker 7: understand some basics, but they don't understand everything, but they're
- 35:46Speaker 7: at a fevered pitch because of the fact that you're
- 35:48Speaker 7: wearing purple and gold. That energy just it just it
- 35:52Speaker 7: just feeds our kids. And the challenge for us on
- 35:55Speaker 7: the road has always been. Are we dependent on that?
- 35:58Speaker 7: You know that we don't want to be dependent on it.
- 36:00Speaker 7: We want to we want to use it to our
- 36:02Speaker 7: advantage when we're at home, and certainly we do and
- 36:05Speaker 7: but but we can't become dependent on that. It means
- 36:08Speaker 7: an awful lot. I'll tell every recruit that comes on
- 36:10Speaker 7: our campus the first thing I show them when we
- 36:13Speaker 7: walk into PMAC is when they come out of that tunnel.
- 36:15Speaker 7: And I promise you, if you come to LSU the
- 36:16Speaker 7: first time you come out of that tunnel and it's
- 36:19Speaker 7: dark and all you can see is the flashlights on
- 36:21Speaker 7: people's phones, but you hear the thunder coming down, raining
- 36:24Speaker 7: down on you, It'll it'll make the hair on the
- 36:26Speaker 7: back of your neck stand up, and it'll be one
- 36:28Speaker 7: of the most memorable things you have in your lifetime.
- 36:30Speaker 7: And so it's unique to to LSU. Uh. There's not
- 36:34Speaker 7: another environment like it in our sport. There's one other
- 36:38Speaker 7: that can get close to the numbers that that get
- 36:40Speaker 7: into their arena, but there's not an environment like ours.
- 36:44Speaker 7: Ours is loud, Ours is raucous. Ours is fast paced
- 36:46Speaker 7: and entertaining, and it's it's just something special and unique
- 36:50Speaker 7: to our to our our place here at l s U.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Yeah, let coach.
- 36:53Speaker 4: I couldn't like even imagine doing what they do in
- 36:57Speaker 4: an environment like that. Like I played football, like I
- 36:59Speaker 4: was able to like crowd noise, Great, you just run
- 37:01Speaker 4: and hit somebody, right, You didn't have to stand on
- 37:03Speaker 4: a tiny beam. You didn't have to execute a like
- 37:06Speaker 4: all the crazy uh crazy things that they are able
- 37:10Speaker 4: to do in such an environment. And that kind of
- 37:12Speaker 4: like brings me to my next question, Like you have
- 37:14Speaker 4: a lot of a lot of veterans on the squad,
- 37:16Speaker 4: a lot of a lot of classmen, and does it
- 37:18Speaker 4: help and you navigate such a hard schedule throughout the year,
- 37:21Speaker 4: Like does it help having them who's like really taking
- 37:24Speaker 4: on those leadership roles from just like a psychology standpoint,
- 37:27Speaker 4: getting getting the team ready each and every week.
- 37:30Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, going into this year, I was concerned
- 37:32Speaker 7: because you lose a Hayley Bryant and Leah Finnigan and
- 37:35Speaker 7: kJ John. We lost a lot of production and a
- 37:37Speaker 7: lot of boys in kids last year, and and I
- 37:41Speaker 7: was concerned who's gonna who's gonna fill those those those
- 37:45Speaker 7: voids and those gaps, and really kept waiting to see
- 37:48Speaker 7: is it gonna be one or two kids that kind
- 37:51Speaker 7: of step to the forefront. I mean, obviously Chio has
- 37:53Speaker 7: done it leading by example, but she's also matured an
- 37:56Speaker 7: awful lot into saying a lot more and bring a
- 37:59Speaker 7: lot more to the table. But it's been sort of
- 38:01Speaker 7: by committee. It's interesting. We've got a freshman that Nina
- 38:04Speaker 7: Blue that really she's so frigging passionate about LSU. She's
- 38:08Speaker 7: been coming to our camp since she was seven years old,
- 38:10Speaker 7: and every day she reminds everybody that it is such
- 38:14Speaker 7: an incredible blessing. It's like the dream of a lifetime
- 38:17Speaker 7: to be here doing what she's doing, and she inspires
- 38:20Speaker 7: an awful lot. We got transfers that have come in
- 38:22Speaker 7: that are seniors from other places that are grateful for
- 38:25Speaker 7: the resource and and the team that they have around
- 38:27Speaker 7: them now that they didn't have at other places, and
- 38:29Speaker 7: they provide us with a lot of context and perspective
- 38:33Speaker 7: on how blessed we are to have everything that we
- 38:35Speaker 7: that we have. So it's been by committee. And I
- 38:38Speaker 7: kept wondering early on where we're gonna what was the
- 38:40Speaker 7: identity of this team gonna be, And really it's an
- 38:43Speaker 7: identity of kind of a collective support for one another, there.
- 38:48Speaker 7: I mean, these kids love each other and it's evident.
- 38:51Speaker 7: And you guys know what you've been in locker rooms
- 38:52Speaker 7: when you know you have that and when you don't.
- 38:54Speaker 7: And and for the most part, our kids are very
- 38:58Speaker 7: much together. And I think that makes a huge difference,
- 39:01Speaker 7: even in an individual sport where they go one at
- 39:03Speaker 7: a time. It changes the way the pressure feels when
- 39:07Speaker 7: you know that you're doing it for each other. And
- 39:08Speaker 7: I think that's kind of where we're at.
- 39:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that kind of chemistry does show through on all sports,
- 39:12Speaker 4: and it has certainly shown through with your team coach.
- 39:15Speaker 4: You got, of course, the meet tonight and then Sunday
- 39:18Speaker 4: the podium challenge. How does that and it's a it's
- 39:20Speaker 4: a four team, four team meet, So how does that
- 39:23Speaker 4: kind of change your preparation? Does it really change like
- 39:26Speaker 4: having more teams in a meat Does that change the
- 39:28Speaker 4: way you go about or structure the roster.
- 39:31Speaker 7: No, but it gives us. It gives us sort of
- 39:34Speaker 7: a dress rehearsal for what's coming in about three weeks
- 39:36Speaker 7: at the SEC Championships, we get on a podium, there's
- 39:40Speaker 7: four teams. It changes the format a little bit just
- 39:42Speaker 7: in terms of the pace of the meat, and it's
- 39:44Speaker 7: I think it's important to experience that. When we're on
- 39:46Speaker 7: a podium on a raised surface, the equipment feels different.
- 39:49Speaker 7: It's got a little more bounced to it than when
- 39:51Speaker 7: you're laying it down on a basketball floor. And so
- 39:54Speaker 7: we just make those adjustments and and get it get
- 39:58Speaker 7: in a different, uh sort of space spatially, because so
- 40:02Speaker 7: much of what our kids do, you know, they're ten twelve,
- 40:05Speaker 7: some cases thirteen feet are better in the air and
- 40:09Speaker 7: flipping and twisting. They're very visual. They spot things like
- 40:12Speaker 7: like camera splashes going off, and being on an elevated
- 40:16Speaker 7: surface like that can change that spatial awareness a little bit.
- 40:19Speaker 7: So it's just a good experience for us as we
- 40:21Speaker 7: get ready for the postseason. Really doesn't matter how many
- 40:24Speaker 7: teams or who's on the floor. We don't have defense
- 40:27Speaker 7: and things that really affect us in terms of who's
- 40:30Speaker 7: out there with us. But it's it's very valuable for us,
- 40:34Speaker 7: and we hope, I mean, the hard part is is
- 40:36Speaker 7: that we're two miles down the road and our fans
- 40:38Speaker 7: are going to see us on Friday night, and will
- 40:40Speaker 7: they still come out on Sunday and will the environment,
- 40:43Speaker 7: you know, feel good in there, and that's something that
- 40:46Speaker 7: we want to encourage our fans to get down there
- 40:48Speaker 7: on Sunday afternoon too. I said the other day, you
- 40:50Speaker 7: get to church, get some lunch, get your kids out,
- 40:53Speaker 7: go to a meet, get them fed, and get them
- 40:54Speaker 7: in bed. That's the way your Sunday needs to look.
- 40:56Speaker 7: And so we're hopeful that everybody will come see us
- 40:59Speaker 7: on Monday afternoon down there too.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I don't know how you came up with that, but
- 41:02Speaker 2: that is fantastic. Coach.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Everybody listening, go out support support your tigers as they
- 41:08Speaker 4: take on Alabama. And then they got the podium challenge
- 41:10Speaker 4: on Sunday, and he is, mister j Clark. We appreciate
- 41:13Speaker 4: your time. We will be watching, we will be cheering,
- 41:16Speaker 4: we will be chanting tens all weekend long.
- 41:19Speaker 2: So we appreciate it.
- 41:20Speaker 7: I appreciate you guys. Thanks for having me on.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Of course, thank you so much. We appreciate it.
- 41:25Speaker 4: All right there, he gets head coach, have your gymnastics team,
- 41:28Speaker 4: LSU Gymnastics, Jay Clark. Fantastic insight, fantastic look into the team,
- 41:33Speaker 4: the mindset, the girls, the meats, everything so awesome and
- 41:38Speaker 4: absolutely the best gymnastics fan base in the entire country,
- 41:43Speaker 4: and I can promise you that because there's like I
- 41:45Speaker 4: have two little girls who love gymnastics, and there's like
- 41:50Speaker 4: ten like fantastic gymnastics schools here at that region. I
- 41:54Speaker 4: got to say that all of those has to be
- 41:57Speaker 4: in correlation and in response to the popularity of the
- 42:00Speaker 4: LSU gymnastics team.
- 42:01Speaker 2: So good luck to them.
- 42:02Speaker 4: Hope they continue their rain number two in the country,
- 42:05Speaker 4: taking on number three to night in the PMAC l
- 42:07Speaker 4: s U versus Alabama.
