- 0:00Speaker 1: Income for hardworking Americans has soared to the highest level
- 0:06Speaker 1: ever recorded. Okay, that's one. Number two, more Americans are
- 0:10Speaker 1: working today than at any time in the history of
- 0:14Speaker 1: our country. Number two. Number three, the poverty rate has
- 0:20Speaker 1: just reached its best level in American history. There's less
- 0:24Speaker 1: poverty and the poverty is at the highest level.
- 0:27Speaker 2: So those three things. You're listening to the 47 Morning
- 0:31Speaker 2: Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Good Friday morning. It's so nice to have you with
- 0:35Speaker 3: us on the 47 Morning Update. And we've got one
- 0:37Speaker 3: big story for you. We're getting some breaking news now
- 0:40Speaker 3: that President Trump is putting Iran on notice. And Israel
- 0:44Speaker 3: is now talking openly about overthrowing their Iranian regime. Now,
- 0:50Speaker 3: that is big breaking news after the ceasefire that we've
- 0:53Speaker 3: been seeing that's been going on for a while. But
- 0:56Speaker 3: before we get to that, if you think that wireless
- 0:58Speaker 3: companies are all the same, well, it feels like our
- 1:01Speaker 3: country has momentum. But our leaders, well, they could disappear
- 1:05Speaker 3: on Election Day if we don't stand by and defend
- 1:08Speaker 3: America first policies. And that is because many times, well, conservatives,
- 1:13Speaker 3: we get comfortable. The left, they're not comfortable. They're angry
- 1:17Speaker 3: and they're showing up in the midterms. Well, America needs
- 1:20Speaker 3: every one of us in the fight, and a big
- 1:21Speaker 3: part of that means supporting companies that actually stand for
- 1:24Speaker 3: our values instead of fighting against them. That's why I'm

- 2:14Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:15Speaker 3: We're getting some breaking news now that President Trump is
- 2:18Speaker 3: putting Iran on notice and Israel is now talking openly
- 2:23Speaker 3: about overthrowing their Iranian regime. Now that is big breaking
- 2:28Speaker 3: news after the ceasefire that we've been seeing that's been
- 2:31Speaker 3: going on for a while. Well, now President Donald Trump
- 2:34Speaker 3: and Iran, well, they now have a new possibility that
- 2:37Speaker 3: Iran is going to have to deal with. And that
- 2:40Speaker 3: is the United States and Israel could be preparing to
- 2:43Speaker 3: finish what they started earlier this year. And what we're
- 2:47Speaker 3: hearing from President Trump and the Israeli prime minister should
- 2:50Speaker 3: have the leadership in Tehran extremely nervous. President Trump is
- 2:55Speaker 3: signaling that the United States may not be finished with
- 2:57Speaker 3: military operations. After reminding the world of the devastating damage
- 3:02Speaker 3: that American forces have already inflicted on Iran's military capabilities,
- 3:07Speaker 3: Trump is leaving the door open to going even further.
- 3:10Speaker 3: And this isn't, by the way, just rhetoric. According to
- 3:12Speaker 3: multiple sources, the United States and Israel have been developing
- 3:16Speaker 3: plans for another round of military strikes against Iran. And
- 3:20Speaker 3: here's where this story gets even bigger. The Israeli Prime
- 3:23Speaker 3: Minister Netanyahu is no longer simply talking about weakening Iran's
- 3:28Speaker 3: military or stopping its nuclear ambitions. He is now openly
- 3:33Speaker 3: calling for the overthrow of the Iranian regime itself. And
- 3:37Speaker 3: that's something that's obviously very new. Now, for decades, the
- 3:42Speaker 3: Iranian government has threatened Israel, supported terrorist organizations throughout the
- 3:47Speaker 3: Middle East, and pursued nuclear capabilities that Israel and the
- 3:50Speaker 3: United States have repeatedly warned could threaten the security of
- 3:55Speaker 3: the entire region. Netanyahu is now arguing that simply destroying
- 4:00Speaker 3: weapons facilities isn't enough. And he says there's a simple
- 4:04Speaker 3: reason why he's saying this. Because as long as the
- 4:08Speaker 3: same leadership remains in power, Israel believes the threat will
- 4:14Speaker 3: eventually return. Now, speaking to graduating Israeli military officers, Netanyahu
- 4:20Speaker 3: delivered an extraordinary message. He said there is only one
- 4:24Speaker 3: way to eliminate the Iranian threat permanently. And again, that
- 4:28Speaker 3: is to overthrow the regime. And then he went even further.
- 4:33Speaker 3: He said that that was his directive to the Israeli military.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Mossad said, and the country's security agencies, again, taking it
- 4:42Speaker 3: a step further. Now, that is a massive escalation in
- 4:46Speaker 3: Israel's publicly stated objectives. We're not just talking about another
- 4:50Speaker 3: bombing campaign. We're talking about a government openly declaring that
- 4:55Speaker 3: removing Iran's leadership is now a national security objective of Israel. Now,
- 5:00Speaker 3: you've got to remember, this comes after the United States
- 5:03Speaker 3: and Israel launched major military operations against Iran earlier this year.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And those operations began on February the 28th and killed
- 5:11Speaker 3: Iran's longtime supreme leader, Khomeini, along with other senior Iranian officials. Now,
- 5:19Speaker 3: his son subsequently emerged as Iran's new supreme leader, but
- 5:23Speaker 3: the Iranian regime survived. And Netanyahu's argument is that the
- 5:27Speaker 3: government that remains in Tehran is still determined to rebuild
- 5:31Speaker 3: its military capabilities, number one, and then continue pursuing nuclear weapons,
- 5:37Speaker 3: number two. Now, of course, Iran keeps coming out saying, no, no, no,
- 5:41Speaker 3: that's not what we're trying to do. We just want
- 5:44Speaker 3: a clean nuclear program that's peaceful, and Israel has repeatedly
- 5:48Speaker 3: rejected those assurances. Because why? Well, it's Iran, and we
- 5:52Speaker 3: all know what they're about, the number one state-sponsored terrorism
- 5:56Speaker 3: in the world. Now, here's something else that's also really interesting.
- 6:00Speaker 3: According to reporting that's coming out from ABC News, NPR
- 6:04Speaker 3: and other outlets, American Israeli military officials apparently have been
- 6:09Speaker 3: preparing options for additional strikes potentially after the November 3rd
- 6:15Speaker 3: midterm elections. Now, reports indicate that the two countries have
- 6:19Speaker 3: increased military coordination and preparations. The defense secretary, Pete Hedgeseth,
- 6:27Speaker 3: was also in Israel last week where he met with Netanyahu.
- 6:31Speaker 3: And the potential targets reportedly included Iranian nuclear facilities, missile
- 6:37Speaker 3: and drone capabilities, as well as energy infrastructure. But there's
- 6:42Speaker 3: also an important distinction here. Preparing for military action does
- 6:46Speaker 3: not mean that President Trump has made the final decision
- 6:49Speaker 3: to launch it. Several times we've seen him prepare and
- 6:52Speaker 3: then pull back. The White House has explicitly stated that
- 6:55Speaker 3: the United States will not attack Iran before the November
- 6:59Speaker 3: 3rd election. And reports indicate that President Trump previously held
- 7:02Speaker 3: back proposed military strikes earlier this month as well. And
- 7:06Speaker 3: that also tells you something important about the president's approach.
- 7:10Speaker 3: He's keeping military options available while retaining control over when
- 7:16Speaker 3: or whether American forces will be ordered into action. And
- 7:20Speaker 3: that uncertainty also, by the way, puts tremendous pressure on Tehran.
- 7:25Speaker 3: because Iran's leadership now has to consider whether rejecting a
- 7:29Speaker 3: diplomatic agreement could lead to something much more devastating, a
- 7:35Speaker 3: military confrontation, which no doubt the United States of America
- 7:39Speaker 3: will win. And then there's also another part of the story,
- 7:42Speaker 3: and that's this. Iran is not simply sitting back and
- 7:46Speaker 3: accepting these threats. Iranian officials are now warning that another
- 7:51Speaker 3: round of American and Israeli attacks could trigger retaliation against
- 7:54Speaker 3: against American interests and critical infrastructure, they say, throughout the
- 7:59Speaker 3: entire Middle East. In other words, threatening all of their neighbors. Now,
- 8:03Speaker 3: they also said that includes the possibility of attacks affecting
- 8:06Speaker 3: energy production and shipping. Yeah, the Strait of Hormuz yet again.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And we know how this works. Any type of instability
- 8:14Speaker 3: around the Strait of Hormuz threatens international oil prices. which
- 8:18Speaker 3: then by default means you end up paying more for
- 8:20Speaker 3: goods and services. And that's why the stakes are so
- 8:24Speaker 3: huge right now. The question isn't simply whether the United
- 8:28Speaker 3: States and Israel have the military capability to inflict additional
- 8:32Speaker 3: damage on Iran, because clearly we do. The bigger question
- 8:36Speaker 3: for me is this, whether military force can permanently eliminate
- 8:41Speaker 3: the threat without creating an even larger regional conflict or
- 8:46Speaker 3: a vacuum for power and control of Iran. And that
- 8:50Speaker 3: is another significant difference between destroying nuclear facilities, President Trump
- 8:56Speaker 3: has done that, and overthrowing an entire government. Military experts
- 9:02Speaker 3: have warned that airstrikes alone may not be sufficient enough
- 9:06Speaker 3: to bring down Iran's leadership. And that's why Netanyahu announced
- 9:10Speaker 3: it so consequential the way he did. He was describing
- 9:14Speaker 3: a much more ambitious objective that simply weakened Iran's military.
- 9:19Speaker 3: And now President Trump is facing another decision. Does he
- 9:22Speaker 3: continue using the threat of military force really to push
- 9:26Speaker 3: Iran towards an agreement? And does he authorize another round
- 9:30Speaker 3: of strikes to further degrade Iran's military capabilities as well?
- 9:34Speaker 3: Or does the president ultimately support Israel's state objective of
- 9:38Speaker 3: removing the Iranian regime altogether? Now, these are three very
- 9:43Speaker 3: important questions and very different possibilities. And no one should
- 9:48Speaker 3: pretend that a final decision has already been made because
- 9:51Speaker 3: clearly it hasn't. President Trump is not taking the military
- 9:55Speaker 3: option off the table. That's what we do know tonight.
- 9:58Speaker 3: And that's what we do know this morning. Second thing
- 10:02Speaker 3: is this. Israel is openly discussing regime change. Americans and
- 10:08Speaker 3: Israeli military planners were also being told are preparing for
- 10:12Speaker 3: the possibility of these renewed strikes. And Iran is threatening
- 10:16Speaker 3: retaliation if those attacks, quote, take place. Now, it's a
- 10:20Speaker 3: dangerous moment we're in right now. It's also, to be
- 10:24Speaker 3: very clear, well, a potentially historic moment as well. For decades,
- 10:30Speaker 3: American presidents have struggled with the same question. How do
- 10:34Speaker 3: you prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons while also protecting
- 10:38Speaker 3: American interests and avoiding another prolonged Middle Eastern war where,
- 10:42Speaker 3: by the way, gas prices go through the roof? So
- 10:45Speaker 3: that is the question the president is facing right now.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Will American forces already, well, have done enough to inflict
- 10:53Speaker 3: enormous damage on Iran's military infrastructure? Do we need to
- 10:56Speaker 3: do more? And Netanyahu is also changing their position, making
- 11:02Speaker 3: it unmistakably clear. He believes the threat will never truly
- 11:06Speaker 3: disappear until the Iranian regime itself is gone. And that
- 11:11Speaker 3: seems to be the big question tonight. How long does
- 11:14Speaker 3: that take? Can it happen quickly? Or does it extend
- 11:18Speaker 3: this war for months on end? It's a very good
- 11:22Speaker 3: chance we're going to get the answers to all that,
- 11:24Speaker 3: not before, but after the midterm elections.
