- 1:40Speaker 4: pet of the Week. Rob Real from her sister station,
- 1:42Speaker 4: Superstar Country ninety six to one KWS, is going to
- 1:45Speaker 4: stop by. You remember last year month of October when
- 1:48Speaker 4: this fool walked to Morgantown's for a good cause. Well
- 1:50Speaker 4: this year he's taking a little bit easier on himself.
- 1:53Speaker 4: He's going on a burger tour of the state of
- 1:55Speaker 4: West Virginia. So we're going to talk to Rob about that.
- 1:57Speaker 4: And while we're talking about food, we're going to you
- 2:00Speaker 4: joined b at Joel Gates from the Girl Scouts, but
- 2:03Speaker 4: not just talking about cookies. They have a new fall
- 2:05Speaker 4: line out that's all sorts of stuff other than just cookies,
- 2:09Speaker 4: and they have cookies too. Bus your calls and text
- 2:12Speaker 4: are always welcome to talk a little high school football
- 2:15Speaker 4: right now, Chris Lawrence is here.
- 2:16Speaker 2: How you doing about?
- 2:16Speaker 5: I took in the Little Chief at the Parkway and
- 2:19Speaker 5: logan I was going to spring that up. Yeah, you
- 2:22Speaker 5: should start there if you want to get a hamburger.
- 2:24Speaker 4: You texted me because you were down there with the
- 2:26Speaker 4: Elk the other day and you texted me about eating
- 2:29Speaker 4: in Chapmanville, and uh Chapmill doesn't have a lot of options.
- 2:33Speaker 4: They have a great Giovanni's. But last time I was
- 2:36Speaker 4: down there was under renovation.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Well you hit me with a place that I was
- 2:39Speaker 5: going to have to go sit down and I just
- 2:41Speaker 5: couldn't do that. I didn't have time I wanted, but
- 2:43Speaker 5: I knew the Parkway you know you can, you can
- 2:46Speaker 5: get it and go and uh so you gave me
- 2:50Speaker 5: too three options. I went Parkway it is yeah, yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 5: so but your recommendation there was the Big Chief, which
- 2:55Speaker 5: is a double cheeseburger, not that I couldn't handle something like.
- 2:59Speaker 2: That, but that your day.
- 3:00Speaker 5: I didn't need that, so I just went with the
- 3:03Speaker 5: little chief I guess, which was a single cheese brother.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Yeah, they have a great food there, well, excellent. Thank
- 3:07Speaker 4: you for joining us here on the on food Talk.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Tom Bragg is also here. How are you doing, buddy,
- 3:11Speaker 4: I'm good.
- 3:11Speaker 6: I got to get in line next time there's a
- 3:13Speaker 6: burger tasting job going around the building, and maybe even
- 3:16Speaker 6: if there's still room. I mean, two heads are better
- 3:18Speaker 6: than one. You need more rounded opinions. One opinion can't
- 3:21Speaker 6: necessarily shape the story for burger.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Well, shape doesn't factor into anything. Just trying to get
- 3:29Speaker 5: my foot in the door here. I have always.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Said that when people say I need to get in shape,
- 3:33Speaker 4: oval is a shape. Yeah, so let's keep that in mind,
- 3:36Speaker 4: all right, Chris, your high school game tonight.
- 3:38Speaker 5: We've got number three Huntington at Capital, and Capital is
- 3:43Speaker 5: ranked number ten in Class Triple A. Uh and Huntington,
- 3:46Speaker 5: of course is number three in Class Quad A. Should
- 3:49Speaker 5: be quite a game tonight as these two get together.
- 3:51Speaker 5: And it's interesting that if this game had been ten
- 3:54Speaker 5: years ago, this would have probably been a marquee matchup
- 3:57Speaker 5: that would have had national implications because they were both
- 4:00Speaker 5: that good. Capital of course is on a rebuilding run.
- 4:03Speaker 5: They got by the guy by South Charleston last week,
- 4:08Speaker 5: and but but they've definitely got a taller tonight because
- 4:11Speaker 5: Huntington is stacked pretty well and loaded, the one of
- 4:14Speaker 5: only a couple of teams in West Virginia actually beat
- 4:17Speaker 5: Martinsburg in the last decade or so. So there. Uh
- 4:21Speaker 5: I talked to Billy Seals yesterday. He feels real confident
- 4:24Speaker 5: in this club. They've got Tavi on Wilson at quarterback,
- 4:27Speaker 5: who was a wide receiver last year, but he has
- 4:31Speaker 5: committed to play his college football at Clemson, so he's
- 4:35Speaker 5: he's he's definitely for real and Capitol will have their
- 4:38Speaker 5: hands full with him. They countered though with uh with
- 4:41Speaker 5: Daddy Robinson, who is who was as good as advertised
- 4:45Speaker 5: last week. So it'll be interesting to see when the
- 4:48Speaker 5: skill sets of these two guys, because these are two
- 4:50Speaker 5: teams where big plays can be a big deal. So
- 4:52Speaker 5: of course we'll have that be a lot of fun.
- 4:54Speaker 5: W CCHS networking stations. You and Aaron Parker had the
- 4:56Speaker 5: play by play tonight.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We will be there.
- 4:58Speaker 4: And then you got a busy weekend. I heard you say,
- 5:00Speaker 4: and you're seeing some events because you have West Virginia
- 5:02Speaker 4: Outdoors tomorrow, but you're on the road a little bit,
- 5:04Speaker 4: is that right?
- 5:05Speaker 5: Yes, I'll be the host of the Ohio River Challenge.
- 5:09Speaker 5: They're having their Championship Bass tournament event in Parkersburg tomorrow
- 5:14Speaker 5: and we'll get to two day event. So the wig
- 5:16Speaker 5: ends at four o'clock on Saturday and I think three
- 5:19Speaker 5: o'clock on Sunday at the I think tomorrow there at
- 5:23Speaker 5: the river front. And then it's it's a parking lot.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I don't know what the name of the building is.
- 5:28Speaker 5: It's right next to the Federal building there in the I. R.
- 5:30Speaker 5: S Building in Parkersburg. Okay, so there there's a big
- 5:34Speaker 5: parking lot there where they stage the way in and
- 5:37Speaker 5: I'm the MC of it. So come on down and
- 5:38Speaker 5: we'll waste some fish if you're in the greater Parkersburg area.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And maybe you'll have a deer jumping a boat again.
- 5:43Speaker 2: That was your big story.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Yeah, we'll hear that guy's story again tomorrow on West
- 5:46Speaker 5: Virginia Outdoors. That was that was pretty well.
- 5:48Speaker 2: You're familiar with this Bragg, I've heard it. Yeah, Yeah, yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 2: we tell Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I mean, the guy's just fishing there at East Lynne
- 5:53Speaker 4: and all of a sudden, the deer just jumps at
- 5:54Speaker 4: a boat with him.
- 5:55Speaker 7: Man.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Yeah, well he had he had encountered it, and it
- 5:58Speaker 5: came right up to him and let him pet it.
- 5:59Speaker 5: And he's like, oh, well, that's interesting. And then he
- 6:02Speaker 5: went back to whatever he was doing and he went, wait,
- 6:05Speaker 5: you're in my boat. That's even more interesting. I have
- 6:09Speaker 5: no snacks. What else you got on Westreetgin Outdoors?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Tomorrow? See what do we have Tomorrow?
- 6:14Speaker 5: We'll talk a little more about the the Elk Viewing Tower,
- 6:17Speaker 5: and of course that story about the about the the
- 6:22Speaker 5: boat deer, the deer in the boat, I'm not even
- 6:25Speaker 5: really sure how to describe it, deer in the boat.
- 6:27Speaker 2: So and then we'll have a couple of other things
- 6:28Speaker 2: I've not firmed up just yet. And I'm sure we'll
- 6:31Speaker 2: get your take on the release of the Taylor Swift
- 6:33Speaker 2: album last night at midnight.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I did not know that until Jeff Jenkins reported
- 6:38Speaker 5: it this morning on the morning News.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Okay, I missed that.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Although of all the people in this room, I'm the
- 6:44Speaker 5: only one who's been to a Taylor Swift concert, So
- 6:46Speaker 5: there is that.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right about that. I'm not thinking you've ever
- 6:50Speaker 2: been to He looked.
- 6:51Speaker 6: At me like he wasn't sure I was not been.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I was telling Jeff about that this morning.
- 6:56Speaker 5: I took my daughter to see Taylor Swift because she
- 6:58Speaker 5: was in middle school when Taylor Swift was small enough
- 7:02Speaker 5: to come to Charleston, and she was a country artist then.
- 7:06Speaker 5: And I went, and I was the youngest guy in
- 7:08Speaker 5: the row, and in fact, I was the only adult
- 7:11Speaker 5: in the row. It was just just miles and miles
- 7:14Speaker 5: of screaming teenage girls, all of them in middle school.
- 7:17Speaker 5: But and I'm just sitting there. The rest of them
- 7:19Speaker 5: are standing up dancing, and I'm looking at my phone.
- 7:22Speaker 5: But I did look around, and I saw over here
- 7:24Speaker 5: and down there and up here, because you'd see a
- 7:27Speaker 5: phone blowing, and it was a dad checking out scores.
- 7:30Speaker 5: So they were just there, you know, the girl dad's
- 7:34Speaker 5: just being girl dads, you know, and trying to trying
- 7:36Speaker 5: to just be there. So all right, Chris, good talking
- 7:39Speaker 5: to you, all right, buddy as well? All right mister Bragg,
- 7:42Speaker 5: Yes sir, what are you doing tonight with Hoover?
- 7:43Speaker 6: Well, I got to mention that Taylor Swift was Jeff
- 7:45Speaker 6: Jared's babysitter, babysitted his kids when they all lived in
- 7:49Speaker 6: Jeff Jared the rest of the legend pro wrestling. Yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 6: ok so I had to get that one in there.
- 7:53Speaker 6: But tonight we've got Hoover hosting South Charleston.
- 7:55Speaker 2: First time.
- 7:56Speaker 6: These two teams have played since two thousands, so it's
- 7:58Speaker 6: been a while that kind of a product of the
- 8:00Speaker 6: class Splitz, Hoover spent some time kind of bopping back
- 8:03Speaker 6: and forth between Double A and Triple A and the
- 8:04Speaker 6: early part of the century. But this is a matchup
- 8:08Speaker 6: that has been played. I believe this will be the
- 8:10Speaker 6: thirty third all time meeting. Started playing in nineteen sixty three,
- 8:14Speaker 6: and it's kind of been a back and forth matchup
- 8:16Speaker 6: over its history. Like I said, hasn't been played in
- 8:18Speaker 6: twenty five years. It's gonna be a little bit different
- 8:20Speaker 6: look from both teams when they get out there this
- 8:22Speaker 6: time versus back in two thousand.
- 8:24Speaker 4: I guess I drifted off who they played tonight. South
- 8:25Speaker 4: Charles Okay, South Charleston. Okay, Yeah, they played play South Charleston.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Knight.
- 8:28Speaker 6: You know, Donnie Mays is back at South Charleston, a
- 8:30Speaker 6: very successful head coach there for a long time. Left
- 8:33Speaker 6: went to Hurricane for a few years. He's back kind
- 8:35Speaker 6: of rebuilding things now. It seems like they're at the
- 8:38Speaker 6: stage where South Charleston has some players that they can
- 8:40Speaker 6: build around, but they've still got work to do. They've
- 8:43Speaker 6: got to actually do the buildings and building around them.
- 8:45Speaker 6: And man, that all starts with Malcolm Brown. He does
- 8:47Speaker 6: a little bit of everything for them. Had a touchdown rushing,
- 8:50Speaker 6: a touchdown receiving, and a touchdown throwing last week. He's
- 8:53Speaker 6: actually the emergency third string quarterback on that roster. The
- 8:56Speaker 6: first two guys went back and say, did everything but
- 8:58Speaker 6: make the hot dogs in the assession. He had the
- 9:00Speaker 6: throws and hey, lateley Field, sometimes it's understaffed. He might
- 9:02Speaker 6: have jumped back there thrown a couple down.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Would you like would you like some nachos with your rpo?
- 9:08Speaker 4: But that'll be the key for this Hoover team. Shut
- 9:10Speaker 4: down Malcolm Brown and good things might happen. The Huskies
- 9:13Speaker 4: have had it rolling lately. They brought they blew the
- 9:15Speaker 4: doors off a point pleasant last week. They had beat
- 9:17Speaker 4: up on Lincoln County a couple of weeks ago, get
- 9:19Speaker 4: to come back home. It's only their second home game
- 9:21Speaker 4: of the year and week six, kind of halfway through
- 9:23Speaker 4: the season. Seems unusual to have only been back in
- 9:25Speaker 4: ok one time, but this will just be the second one.
- 9:28Speaker 4: And we get going around seven o'clock tonight, Matt Murphy
- 9:30Speaker 4: and I on ninety six one KWS will bring you
- 9:32Speaker 4: all the action. And then we had a text here
- 9:34Speaker 4: if somebody asked it about how you guys felt about
- 9:36Speaker 4: Sissonville this year, I didn't get a chance to ask
- 9:39Speaker 4: Chris uh So, I mean, have you any thoughts on system.
- 9:41Speaker 6: I'll be honest, Sistmville's been a little bit off of
- 9:43Speaker 6: my radar, and I'll being on on Herbert Hoover's schedule,
- 9:45Speaker 6: which is is kind of unfortunate. I think that's the
- 9:47Speaker 6: team that Hoover's played more than anybody else in their history.
- 9:49Speaker 6: A lot a lot of history between those two. But
- 9:52Speaker 6: Sismville a little bit off my radar. It sounds like
- 9:53Speaker 6: maybe things are starting to get a little bit better,
- 9:56Speaker 6: but that's a big hill to climb. They had a
- 9:57Speaker 6: lot of work to do down there.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Well, you know, between you doing Hoover, but you're also
- 10:01Speaker 4: doing West Virginia State with Daniel Woods on Saturday. You
- 10:03Speaker 4: know that's kind of taking up your time, all right,
- 10:05Speaker 4: talk about State's game tomorrow.
- 10:06Speaker 6: State's two and zero in the MEMEC. Has things going
- 10:09Speaker 6: really well. Beat the tar out of Fairmont State last week,
- 10:11Speaker 6: dropped sixty on the Falcons for homecoming. Got to hit
- 10:13Speaker 6: the road and go to West Liberty this week. Hilltoppers
- 10:17Speaker 6: maybe not what they've been in the past. State looking
- 10:20Speaker 6: to kind of establish itself in that upper half of
- 10:22Speaker 6: the EMEC. That seems like the league is wide open
- 10:24Speaker 6: this year. The teams that were picked to be at
- 10:26Speaker 6: the top, teams like U see, they're still pretty good,
- 10:28Speaker 6: but it feels like they've come back to the pack
- 10:30Speaker 6: a little bit and there's an opportunity for some of
- 10:31Speaker 6: those teams like West Virginia State to grab some wounds
- 10:34Speaker 6: and build a resume and hey, be right there in
- 10:36Speaker 6: the mix at the end when you play UC in
- 10:37Speaker 6: that last game of the season. They're heading that way now,
- 10:40Speaker 6: but still lots of work to do, especially tomorrow, it's
- 10:43Speaker 6: a long trip up to West Liberty to take on Hilltoppers.
- 10:45Speaker 4: All right, do you guys be safe and you can
- 10:47Speaker 4: catch all the action of the West Virginia State, one
- 10:49Speaker 4: oh seven three to beat Tom. Appreciate you being here man,
- 10:51Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, Thank you, Dave all right, mister Tom Bragg,
- 10:54Speaker 4: I want to transition now to our adopt me please
- 10:56Speaker 4: put of the Week from the Kanala Charston Umane Association
- 10:58Speaker 4: making her debut to talk about our at this week.
- 11:01Speaker 4: I was going to say Curly, but that's not who's
- 11:03Speaker 4: actually doing the segment. Curly is the dog, and I
- 11:05Speaker 4: hope I pronounced it. Is it Elenia Allen?
- 11:09Speaker 8: It's Elena Elena.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Okay, Elena Allen, no relation to Dave Allen, but welcome
- 11:13Speaker 4: to the show.
- 11:14Speaker 8: Hi, good morning.
- 11:16Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:16Speaker 4: So Curly is our pet of the week and we
- 11:18Speaker 4: have his picture posted as always on Dave Allen Radio
- 11:21Speaker 4: and Facebook, also the WCCHS network Facebook page and at
- 11:25Speaker 4: dave A seventy one X tell us all about Curly.
- 11:29Speaker 8: So Curly is one of our longer residents. He has
- 11:33Speaker 8: been here since October of last year. He's going on
- 11:37Speaker 8: a few days shy one year at KHA. He's a
- 11:41Speaker 8: very good dog. He's about three and a half years old,
- 11:44Speaker 8: fifty five pounds ish. That was you know the last
- 11:47Speaker 8: time we weighed him. Micro chip, neutered and up to
- 11:51Speaker 8: date on vaccines completely, so he would be ready to
- 11:53Speaker 8: go home today.
- 11:54Speaker 2: He's a beautiful dog.
- 11:55Speaker 4: And again, if you want to see Curly's picture, it's
- 11:58Speaker 4: got the bandann and everything on I've Got It post
- 12:00Speaker 4: done Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and on the WCCHS
- 12:03Speaker 4: network Facebook page and also on my X page at
- 12:06Speaker 4: day Base seventy. He had to have a toe amputated.
- 12:09Speaker 4: What's the story there?
- 12:11Speaker 8: Honestly, we're not really sure. We just noticed one day
- 12:14Speaker 8: that he was limping. He fractured it somehow, whether that
- 12:18Speaker 8: was in his kennel around the time he was like
- 12:21Speaker 8: extra stressed in his kennel, so it could have been that,
- 12:24Speaker 8: it could have been, you know, out in the playard.
- 12:26Speaker 8: We're not really sure. We just noticed that he was
- 12:29Speaker 8: limping and X rayed it and he had like completely
- 12:33Speaker 8: shattered the bone in there, so they had to amputate it.
- 12:37Speaker 4: All right, We're talking with Elena Allen again from the
- 12:40Speaker 4: kenaw Charles Human Association with our dot me Please Pet
- 12:43Speaker 4: of the Week with Dave Island Show one five eighty
- 12:44Speaker 4: Live is broadcheing apart by the All New Generations Ford
- 12:47Speaker 4: of Hurricane visit generations forward dot com. You guys out
- 12:51Speaker 4: and about anywhere this weekend. I know, you know, we
- 12:53Speaker 4: don't have him any nice weekends left. And you guys
- 12:55Speaker 4: will sometimes take in a festival. You're be out at
- 12:58Speaker 4: Petco or something. What's on the schedule this week at
- 13:01Speaker 4: if anything?
- 13:03Speaker 8: So, we do have our Bisle Pet Foundation adoption special
- 13:07Speaker 8: going on right now, which is reduced adoption sees that'll
- 13:12Speaker 8: be going on until the fifteenth. We also do have
- 13:16Speaker 8: some staff taking some dogs up to New Jersey, so
- 13:19Speaker 8: not anything around here, okay, but they are taking some
- 13:23Speaker 8: dogs up to New Jersey to hopefully find some homes.
- 13:26Speaker 8: So right now, what we've got going on here is
- 13:29Speaker 8: the Bissel Pet Foundation, all right?
- 13:32Speaker 2: And what about donations?
- 13:33Speaker 4: What are you guys in need of, because there's things
- 13:35Speaker 4: in Angie and I talk about every week that you're
- 13:36Speaker 4: always in need of, you know, your don dish washing
- 13:40Speaker 4: liquid and towels and things like that, anything in particular.
- 13:44Speaker 8: Definitely blankets At the moment, we are running very low
- 13:47Speaker 8: on blankets.
- 13:48Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Alana, you did great in your debut suthern for Angie.
- 13:52Speaker 4: So Angie C's fired one and we'll talk.
- 13:54Speaker 2: To you next week. Has that all right, Thanks a lot.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Lena Allen again from the Kennal Charleston Umin Association with
- 14:00Speaker 4: our adopt me please put of the week. Curly is
- 14:03Speaker 4: our dog's name, and again he is neutered, he's vaxed,
- 14:07Speaker 4: micro chip, ready to go. Probably needs to be the
- 14:09Speaker 4: only dog. They tell us. It's he's not a mean
- 14:11Speaker 4: dog or anything like that, but he just you know,
- 14:13Speaker 4: some dogs don't get along with other dogs sometimes and
- 14:15Speaker 4: so but he does love stuffed animals. I was told
- 14:18Speaker 4: in reading the rite up if you will on Curly

- 17:10Speaker 10: No, it's beautiful. I love it.
- 17:12Speaker 4: It's almost paid for almost almost. I just got to
- 17:16Speaker 4: keep doing more things from husbands and things like that
- 17:17Speaker 4: in order to pay for this place.
- 17:19Speaker 10: Hey, whatever pays the bills.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Whatever pays the bills. All right, So you're launching your
- 17:22Speaker 4: fall line. Sounds like fashion, but it's it's a lot
- 17:27Speaker 4: of different foods.
- 17:27Speaker 10: With the Yeah Scouts, it's so much more so. Yesterday
- 17:31Speaker 10: we at Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council, we launched
- 17:33Speaker 10: our twenty twenty five fall product program. Everybody knows that
- 17:38Speaker 10: Girl Scouts sell delicious cookies, but they often don't know that.
- 17:41Speaker 10: We also provide an amazing lineup of different products in
- 17:44Speaker 10: the fall. This sale really gives girls those entrepreneurial skills
- 17:48Speaker 10: to really succeed when the cookie sale comes. So we're
- 17:51Speaker 10: offering nuts, candies, turvice, tumblers, anything that you could really imagine.
- 17:56Speaker 10: We've got.
- 17:57Speaker 4: And I was looking at the email that you sent
- 17:59Speaker 4: me that had all the things on it there you
- 18:01Speaker 4: had my attention with the spicy cagun mix. Oh yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 4: if you say spicy anything, I mean to talk.
- 18:06Speaker 2: About that one. Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 10: So that's actually a product that we got just a
- 18:09Speaker 10: few years ago. With the fall product sale, we really
- 18:12Speaker 10: have the ability to offer something for different taste.
- 18:15Speaker 8: You know.
- 18:15Speaker 10: With the cookies we try to expand out, but with
- 18:18Speaker 10: the fall sale, we have chocolates, We have different kinds
- 18:20Speaker 10: of nuts, like you said, the spicy cageen mix, but
- 18:23Speaker 10: we also just have whole cashews, we have gummy candy.
- 18:26Speaker 10: So really this is just an opportunity to provide something
- 18:29Speaker 10: that everybody would enjoy.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and again it's not like you're getting out of
- 18:33Speaker 4: the cookie business. I mean you're still doing the cookies, yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 4: but you're just offering other things. And that's and that's
- 18:39Speaker 4: great because I mean, Girls Got Cookies have been around forever.
- 18:42Speaker 4: I mean pretty much. And I just said to these
- 18:44Speaker 4: a couple of years ago this other snack line, is it, right?
- 18:46Speaker 10: Yeah, so this has actually been around for a couple years.
- 18:49Speaker 10: And like I said, our membership year just started and
- 18:52Speaker 10: the fall product sale is really away just to get
- 18:54Speaker 10: girls in the entrepreneurial spirit, kind of builds them the
- 18:58Speaker 10: baseline skills that they need for the cookie sale and
- 19:01Speaker 10: kind of just as a way to get them really
- 19:03Speaker 10: ingrained in Girl Scouts as soon as the membership your
- 19:05Speaker 10: kicks out.
- 19:05Speaker 4: And I want to talk about the changing role of
- 19:08Speaker 4: Scouts because you know, it's it's a lot of things
- 19:11Speaker 4: are the are different, but a lot of things are
- 19:13Speaker 4: the same. And you talk about the instilling those values
- 19:16Speaker 4: and those skills of entrepreneurialship and things of that nature,
- 19:19Speaker 4: and get into that a little bit tho, well, those
- 19:21Speaker 4: people get.
- 19:22Speaker 10: Out of this absolutely. So you know, Girl Scouts it's
- 19:24Speaker 10: a cornerstone of American history. We really pride ourselves on
- 19:28Speaker 10: staying true to our core with also staying up to
- 19:31Speaker 10: date with things that the girls really need to succeed
- 19:33Speaker 10: in life. So at our core we have our four
- 19:36Speaker 10: main program pillars that involve life skills, outdoor nature exploration.
- 19:42Speaker 10: But you know, we also really try to have our
- 19:43Speaker 10: finger on the pulse of things that kids may not
- 19:46Speaker 10: be able to tap into at school, so we provide
- 19:49Speaker 10: programming for mental health, body appreciation, just really trying to
- 19:53Speaker 10: give all kinds of girls the skills that they need
- 19:56Speaker 10: to grow into confident leaders that the world needs for tomorrow.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Talking with Joel Gates again from Black Diamond Girl Scout
- 20:02Speaker 4: Council nine twenty seven. The Dave Alland Show in five

- 20:20Speaker 4: listed at four four ninety nine nine hundred. That's four
- 20:26Speaker 4: hundred ninety nine nine hundred dollars. Math is hard. Call
- 20:29Speaker 4: Rich for details three zero four nine three two seventy
- 20:32Speaker 4: four eighty eight.
- 20:33Speaker 2: No, how long have you been with Scouts.
- 20:36Speaker 10: I have been with the Girl Scouts for four years now.
- 20:38Speaker 2: What is what's been the highlights?
- 20:40Speaker 4: I mean, you know you Ca've come on the show
- 20:42Speaker 4: several times and all of our shows in the building,
- 20:44Speaker 4: But what's what have you taken.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Away from this?
- 20:48Speaker 10: Yeah? So I think before I got to Girl Scouts,
- 20:50Speaker 10: I really just saw it as a cookie business. That
- 20:54Speaker 10: sort of our main thing, and you know, the fall
- 20:56Speaker 10: product sale. It really gives girls those skills that they
- 21:00Speaker 10: need to succeed. But you know, being there now, got
- 21:04Speaker 10: a couple of years under my belt, it's seeing the
- 21:06Speaker 10: girls that have grown. I've seen girls go from daisies
- 21:10Speaker 10: all the way up to be juniors Cadets, and it's
- 21:13Speaker 10: just the skills, watching their confidence really grow. We have
- 21:18Speaker 10: a great opportunity for girls to give back to their community.
- 21:22Speaker 10: Some of these projects that our Girl Scouts are completing,
- 21:24Speaker 10: I mean it's it's things that I think I would
- 21:27Speaker 10: struggle to do today. We've had girls build total memorials,
- 21:33Speaker 10: pet cemeteries completely from scratch. We've had girls, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 10: complete food drives and give back to their community. So
- 21:40Speaker 10: it's it's really seeing that the girls grow their confidence,
- 21:44Speaker 10: not just to kind of keep it within themselves, but
- 21:47Speaker 10: to give back and really really make a difference.
- 21:49Speaker 2: And I know that you said you've been with them
- 21:51Speaker 2: what four years?
- 21:52Speaker 4: Kay, Okay, I wonder if it's in I just wonder
- 21:56Speaker 4: like the role of scouting and how it's changed over
- 21:59Speaker 4: the years, but how it's also stayed the same. As
- 22:01Speaker 4: I said, the whole idea behind the cookies to begin
- 22:04Speaker 4: with was to teach entrepreneurial ship, and so that's not
- 22:09Speaker 4: gone away. But the Scouts, whether it's boyd girls, whatever,
- 22:13Speaker 4: you know, fifty years ago, sixty years ago, different than
- 22:15Speaker 4: it is now, but in a lot of ways still
- 22:17Speaker 4: the same.
- 22:18Speaker 10: Yeah, And like I said, we really try to hold
- 22:20Speaker 10: on to those traditional values. The cookie sale and the
- 22:23Speaker 10: Fall Product program it's just one of those ways to
- 22:26Speaker 10: really fund And you know, that's something that's really important
- 22:30Speaker 10: to keep in mind, is when you're supporting these sales,
- 22:32Speaker 10: not only are you helping girls get those entrepreneurial skills,
- 22:37Speaker 10: but you're really providing funds for them for the entire year.
- 22:41Speaker 10: The Fall Product sale it's a way to kick start
- 22:43Speaker 10: that fundraising so girls have more money to have opportunities
- 22:48Speaker 10: to give back. They take trips, go to camp explore
- 22:52Speaker 10: the outdoors. So you know, it's more than just buying
- 22:55Speaker 10: a product, it's the proceeds stay local, and you're really
- 22:59Speaker 10: making a differents and helping girls grow.
- 23:01Speaker 4: All right, and talk about the fall lineup again. I mean,
- 23:04Speaker 4: because you were making me hungry this morning because you'd
- 23:06Speaker 4: sent me an email about coming on the show, and
- 23:08Speaker 4: I didn't really till I was doing some show notes.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I hadn't really I just got you scheduled. I hadn't
- 23:12Speaker 4: really read it. So this morning I'm sitting up at
- 23:14Speaker 4: my desk, you know, a cup of coffee and a
- 23:16Speaker 4: protein drink, and I'm reading about all these things.
- 23:19Speaker 2: It's quite an extensive lineup.
- 23:21Speaker 10: Yeah, I have something that'll go great with the protein mix.
- 23:24Speaker 10: So we offer a wide variety of nuts, candies, and chocolates.
- 23:28Speaker 10: If you're looking for a gift for a co worker
- 23:30Speaker 10: or maybe just a stalking stuffer. The sale goes through
- 23:33Speaker 10: November sixteenth. You can have direct shipping through online orders.
- 23:37Speaker 10: But in addition to the food products, we also offer
- 23:41Speaker 10: just a wide variety of different things. We have three
- 23:43Speaker 10: Girl Scout inspired bark box treats that have dog toys
- 23:47Speaker 10: inspired by Girl Scouts. We have turvice tumblers for you know,
- 23:53Speaker 10: anyone who really needs one. And then we also have
- 23:57Speaker 10: some different candle options. And there's also the opportunity to
- 24:00Speaker 10: give back with our care to Share program.
- 24:02Speaker 2: All right, talk about how they get these things.
- 24:06Speaker 10: Yeah, so to place an order of visit the Girl
- 24:09Speaker 10: Scouts of Black Diamond Council Facebook page. From there you'll
- 24:12Speaker 10: find links to order online. But then also get involved
- 24:14Speaker 10: with local troops.
- 24:15Speaker 4: I was going to say, that's what it's all about,
- 24:17Speaker 4: is getting involved with the local.
- 24:18Speaker 10: Yes, yeah, we definitely want to invite everybody to participate.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Are you are you folks in need of maybe I
- 24:24Speaker 4: g I don't know if mentors is the right word,
- 24:26Speaker 4: but I mean for people to get involved with the
- 24:28Speaker 4: Scouts and things like that. I mean people that could
- 24:30Speaker 4: come talk about a career and you know, aviation or absolutely,
- 24:34Speaker 4: god forbid radio.
- 24:35Speaker 2: We wouldn't want that, but.
- 24:36Speaker 10: Yes, yeah, no, you'd be a surprise to all the
- 24:39Speaker 10: girls that really have an interest in media. No, we
- 24:42Speaker 10: offered a teen leadership summit over the summer and we
- 24:44Speaker 10: really partnered with a lot of community leaders and the
- 24:47Speaker 10: girls loved it. So if if you're a professional and
- 24:49Speaker 10: you're really looking to you know, get involved with the community.
- 24:52Speaker 10: We were always looking for partners to help teach our
- 24:55Speaker 10: girls about different careers they could attain in the future.
- 24:58Speaker 2: All Right, I'm gonna go ahead and volunteer Amanda.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Baron for I'd be perfect, Yeah, me love Amanda. Amanda
- 25:02Speaker 4: would be somebody that would be really good for that

- 29:11Speaker 4: But there's a lot of people that there's a lot
- 29:14Speaker 4: of Taylor Swift hate out there. I don't care one
- 29:17Speaker 4: way or the other because I'm fifty five years old,
- 29:19Speaker 4: but I will say this, I have a lot of
- 29:21Speaker 4: respect for Taylor Swift, A lot of respect because I mean,
- 29:24Speaker 4: number one name you could probably name on one or
- 29:30Speaker 4: two hands, the amount of people in the world of music,
- 29:34Speaker 4: be it country, rock, whatever, that have been around and
- 29:39Speaker 4: not gone anywhere for well over twenty years now.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Think about that.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I can't name a single Taylor Swift song okay, but
- 29:48Speaker 4: Taylor Swift has been around for over twenty years.
- 29:51Speaker 7: No one.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I mean in.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Country, there's a few, but in pop music to be
- 29:57Speaker 4: relevant for twenty years and plus, she owns her own music,
- 30:01Speaker 4: She writes her own music, she performs her own music.
- 30:04Speaker 4: It's not my kind of music, but I'll give the
- 30:07Speaker 4: I'll give her props.
- 30:08Speaker 7: Man.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I'm I'm not a fan, but I'm not a fan.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I just don't care. But I am a I'm a
- 30:15Speaker 2: huge I got a lot of respect for Taylor. I'll
- 30:18Speaker 2: put it that way.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Uh, And Stephanie tells me the new album is great. Now,
- 30:22Speaker 4: I'll take your word for it. Metro News Midday thirteen
- 30:25Speaker 4: News in Tonight Live Anchor Amanda Baron and me powered
- 30:27Speaker 4: by Selango, all coming up a new today It's Friday,

- 30:37Speaker 4: in the morning News about a building collapse in Fairmont.
- 30:39Speaker 4: We'll get the latest on that. Let me see Jeff
- 30:43Speaker 4: Jenkins of course, and join us with the news. Daniel
- 30:45Speaker 4: Woods is here with your Friday Football Blitz. Steve Roberts
- 30:48Speaker 4: from the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce will be stopping
- 30:50Speaker 4: buying of course your calls and text and open line.
- 30:52Speaker 4: West Virginia Metro News Midday with thirteen News and Tonight
- 30:54Speaker 4: Live anchor Amanda Baron and Me Noon Today brought to
- 30:56Speaker 4: you by a Selango Law On this show Monday, Danny
- 30:59Speaker 4: Joe will be stopping by the former Charleston Mayor and
- 31:01Speaker 4: the current Charleston Mayor, Amy shield Er Goodwin will be
- 31:05Speaker 4: here as well. Texas, going back to your show yesterday.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Slang slang English is mainly created in LGBT and Black communities. Well,
- 31:17Speaker 4: I mean it can, but it comes from all sorts
- 31:19Speaker 4: of communities. Texas, Dave, have you seen the weird, creepy
- 31:22Speaker 4: new AI video Trump posted him and JB as musicians
- 31:27Speaker 4: playing out of Time to Don't Fear the Reaper and
- 31:31Speaker 4: Project twenty five architect Russ Vatt as the grim Reaper.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Trump and MAGA are such loser embarrassments to this great country.
- 31:39Speaker 4: So I did see this morning that the statue was back,
- 31:42Speaker 4: though or at least it was overnight. The Trump statue
- 31:45Speaker 4: with Epstein didn't make a reappearance from what I understand
- 31:48Speaker 4: that the capitin. Don't know whether it's still there or not.
- 31:50Speaker 4: But when I got up this morning, I've flipped on
- 31:51Speaker 4: the TV and they were talking about.
- 31:53Speaker 14: Rob real good morning. You know, minorities of power create slang.
- 31:58Speaker 14: It's not just those specific groups that were mention it's
- 32:00Speaker 14: anybody who isn't who doesn't have the majority of power
- 32:05Speaker 14: in the media and the mainstream.
- 32:07Speaker 11: Those are the folks who create slang.
- 32:09Speaker 14: There are just as many slang words and phrases that
- 32:11Speaker 14: were created in West Virginia because we haven't had traditionally
- 32:14Speaker 14: a lot of power over the media. So it's not
- 32:17Speaker 14: just those groups it is. But I digress, I digress,
- 32:19Speaker 14: And you're a linguist, a bit.
- 32:21Speaker 4: A cunning one, and so you and I have these
- 32:25Speaker 4: conversations all the time. What do radio people talk about
- 32:27Speaker 4: when they're not on the radio with Rob? And it's
- 32:30Speaker 4: something like that, and then it's like, well, I don't know,
- 32:32Speaker 4: GOODA really is an underrated cheese.
- 32:35Speaker 2: That's a kind of conversation.
- 32:36Speaker 14: It is an underrated cheese. And then it turns into Okay,
- 32:39Speaker 14: who is the who is the most underperforming backup catcher
- 32:46Speaker 14: from the nineteen seventies. We get into the weeds.
- 32:48Speaker 11: Yeah, we do from time to time. But see lake.
- 32:52Speaker 2: All right, all right, so see here we go.
- 32:55Speaker 4: This is why every time and that Rob and I
- 32:58Speaker 4: are together upstairs, crash the program directions play together. This
- 33:04Speaker 4: is why you two do not have a morning show together.
- 33:06Speaker 4: This is this is exactly why. But I will say
- 33:08Speaker 4: this is going back to the language. Say what I did, Rob,
- 33:11Speaker 4: and you were on the are you probably didn't get
- 33:12Speaker 4: hear you to day was I was talking about the
- 33:15Speaker 4: shortening of names because Wendy's has now come out with
- 33:17Speaker 4: chicken tenders that they're called ten D's.
- 33:20Speaker 2: And I get that's clever. That's a market clever, that's
- 33:22Speaker 2: a marketing thing. I'll give them that. But I was
- 33:24Speaker 2: talking about people.
- 33:25Speaker 4: You know, some of these the terms like in the
- 33:28Speaker 4: world of sports now and it's kind of an espn
- 33:31Speaker 4: ish type thing. You have a selly short for celebration
- 33:35Speaker 4: after a tuddy unis for you horms I and I
- 33:40Speaker 4: threw out the couple, but I also said, because I'm
- 33:42Speaker 4: the old man yelling at the cloud, as one of
- 33:44Speaker 4: the textures had, I also said, well, at some point
- 33:46Speaker 4: somebody years ago had to say that's bad meaning good,
- 33:50Speaker 4: And that's been around for I mean going back to
- 33:52Speaker 4: the nineteen fifties or sixties, well with older than we are,
- 33:55Speaker 4: so somebody had to do it at some point.
- 33:58Speaker 2: So the original.
- 33:58Speaker 14: Catalyst for that sort of thing tended to be when
- 34:02Speaker 14: white teenagers got a hold of that minority of power
- 34:06Speaker 14: groups slang. That's what usually thrust it into the mainstream
- 34:10Speaker 14: adelai aer now of social media where they are using
- 34:14Speaker 14: those things, and now it can become much more widespread,
- 34:17Speaker 14: and you know, we get things like Ohio as an
- 34:19Speaker 14: insult as a result of that. And don't even get
- 34:23Speaker 14: me started on six to seven.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, because I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Exact text here, and then i'll talk to why I
- 34:29Speaker 4: have you here today, tech says, because I was talking
- 34:31Speaker 4: about the Taylor Swift ure, all right, and I gave
- 34:33Speaker 4: my and you've heard me say it before. I have
- 34:35Speaker 4: a lot of respect for Taylor Swift. I don't like
- 34:37Speaker 4: her music, it's not my thing. But her as a
- 34:39Speaker 4: as a business, oh.
- 34:40Speaker 14: Yeah, I adore her as an entrepreneurs and as is
- 34:44Speaker 14: that is that a word?
- 34:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 34:45Speaker 14: A female entrepreneur and h well, write that down there
- 34:49Speaker 14: there you write that down, Timmy, And yeah, her music's
- 34:53Speaker 14: not my flavor, but I can respect a Michelin star
- 34:55Speaker 14: chef and not like French food.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 34:58Speaker 4: I don't know what tires have to do with tex,
- 35:00Speaker 4: says Dave, even though I don't like her newer stuff.
- 35:02Speaker 4: One of the best collaborations ever done was Taylor Swift
- 35:05Speaker 4: with Deaf Leopard from the two thousand CMT Crossroads episodes.
- 35:08Speaker 4: It was on Deaf Leopards only when Love and Hate Collide,
- 35:11Speaker 4: sadly never releases a single. Check it out on YouTube.
- 35:14Speaker 4: I love the Crossroads, yeah, segment I love.
- 35:18Speaker 14: I love the live experiences that you can't get on
- 35:21Speaker 14: the record. Yeah, that's my favorite thing in a contest.
- 35:24Speaker 4: I have always what I've always said to one of
- 35:26Speaker 4: my rabbit holes all will go down sometime is people listening,
- 35:30Speaker 4: people performing songs that they shouldn't be doing. And I
- 35:33Speaker 4: mean Brad Paisley kicks butt on Rocky Mountain Way.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yes, okay.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Another one, going back to the CMT, the Outlaw Special,
- 35:41Speaker 4: well over twenty years ago, James Hetfield of Metallica doing whaling.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Don't you all think this outlaw business done got out
- 35:49Speaker 4: of hand if you've.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Never heard that.
- 35:51Speaker 4: It is killer l O coolj MTV Unplugged doing Mama Said,
- 35:57Speaker 4: Knock you Out with a full band over the music
- 36:00Speaker 4: at least portions of it of a live man of
- 36:03Speaker 4: Hard to Handle, Sir Mix a Lot and the Seattle
- 36:08Speaker 4: Symphony Orchestra doing a Baby Got Back? All right, Sir
- 36:12Speaker 4: Mix a Lot doing Ironman because that's one of my
- 36:14Speaker 4: bumpers that I play on this show. It's Sir mix
- 36:16Speaker 4: a lot version of Ironman, the Black Sabbath Class.
- 36:19Speaker 11: Anthony Rays A good dude. I'll tell you more when
- 36:20Speaker 11: you're older.
- 36:21Speaker 4: All right, all right, So let me get to this before,
- 36:23Speaker 4: and I promise there's a reason you're here. Yes, today
- 36:26Speaker 4: Island showing five Adieline Brown to youmpartment. I Live Healthy
- 36:28Speaker 4: West Virginia presented by WVU Medicine, a podcast promoting healthier lifestyle,
- 36:31Speaker 4: is going to be on the State Jack Avilated episodes,
- 36:34Speaker 4: wv metronews dot Com and the podcast menu.
- 36:36Speaker 2: All right, what's this about? Burgers?
- 36:38Speaker 14: So you know, I love helping our friends and neighbors,
- 36:41Speaker 14: and a lot of the time it's gathering stuff for
- 36:45Speaker 14: needy folks. We've got our annual Turkey Drop coming up
- 36:47Speaker 14: six weeks from now. Had a great meeting with Jason
- 36:51Speaker 14: our boy over at Union Mission yesterday. We're working on
- 36:54Speaker 14: some other stuff for the holiday season. But that's not
- 36:57Speaker 14: the only way I like to do it. Think low
- 37:00Speaker 14: mom and pop businesses. I'm like, what, what what can
- 37:02Speaker 14: I do to maybe shine a light on some of
- 37:04Speaker 14: those folks. And anybody who's seen me knows I love
- 37:07Speaker 14: to eat, so yeah, eating when I was young, It's
- 37:10Speaker 14: never really got out of it. So how can I
- 37:12Speaker 14: put those two things together? So up real early is
- 37:16Speaker 14: gonna do a little tour here in October every Tuesday.
- 37:19Speaker 14: We're calling it Rob's Burgers. Yes, it's a takeof on
- 37:22Speaker 14: Bob's Burgers. There's even a little animated picture of me
- 37:24Speaker 14: ball cap holding a burger on our Facebook page where
- 37:28Speaker 14: I'm taking suggestions of local mom and pop out of
- 37:32Speaker 14: the way, hole in the wall joints to go get
- 37:35Speaker 14: a burger, and those are all said lovingly, by the way. Yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 14: and so first stop is gonna be Taylor Made in
- 37:42Speaker 14: Montgomery on Tuesday, and still looking for more suggestions of
- 37:47Speaker 14: just places to go where I can try a good burger.
- 37:49Speaker 14: And that's not a knock on the chains. The chain's
- 37:51Speaker 14: got to be chained because they do something very very well.
- 37:54Speaker 14: But they have you know, they have power, they have
- 37:58Speaker 14: they have big marketing budgets and economies of scale. I'm
- 38:03Speaker 14: looking for the kinds of folks that are are well
- 38:07Speaker 14: kept secrets and maybe we can break some of those secrets.
- 38:10Speaker 2: All right, it sounds good.
- 38:11Speaker 4: It's very very similar, although we're not going into it
- 38:14Speaker 4: as deeply as you are. You know, on Friday, we
- 38:16Speaker 4: do a segment called the Lunch Spot and we highlight
- 38:20Speaker 4: you know, places like what you're talking about, but we're not.
- 38:23Speaker 4: We don't focus on just burgers, you know, bakeries and
- 38:26Speaker 4: pizza joints all over the state of West Virginia. We've
- 38:28Speaker 4: had some great ones so far. So but this sounds
- 38:31Speaker 4: this sounds like something really really fun, but for a
- 38:34Speaker 4: good call.
- 38:35Speaker 14: It's an opportunity to take that idea on the road
- 38:38Speaker 14: and to get these folks some attention and some business.
- 38:41Speaker 14: I mean, a lot of the folks we're looking at
- 38:44Speaker 14: just they don't have a marketing budget at all. And
- 38:46Speaker 14: anybody who's worked in the restaurant business knows that margins
- 38:48Speaker 14: are raise or thin. So if we can help them
- 38:51Speaker 14: out a little bit, get a little attention, and if
- 38:54Speaker 14: this goes well for us, maybe we'll do a pizza
- 38:56Speaker 14: tour and maybe we'll do a bakery tour and come
- 38:59Speaker 14: up with some other things.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Uh.
- 39:01Speaker 14: The burger is is the mcguffin of it all for
- 39:04Speaker 14: Hitchcock fans. It just gives gives, gives me a thing
- 39:07Speaker 14: to pick that I can focus on because with with
- 39:10Speaker 14: my adult ADHD self diagnosed, I need reason to focus clearly.
- 39:16Speaker 4: The bakery chour sponsored by ozempic Hey for me, there's
- 39:20Speaker 4: always a corporate tie in. You can get one of
- 39:22Speaker 4: those GLG twenties wait gip one. So what can people
- 39:25Speaker 4: are listeners and of course you were you know this
- 39:28Speaker 4: Rob is the morning Gown our sister station, Superstar Country
- 39:30Speaker 4: ninety six one k ws. But what what can listeners do?
- 39:33Speaker 2: What can they? I mean just give you ideas?
- 39:35Speaker 14: Yeah, well the thing they can do right now go
- 39:37Speaker 14: to our Facebook page and you'll you'll see that Rob's
- 39:40Speaker 14: Rob Rob's Burger's picture and underneath folks are already making suggestions.
- 39:45Speaker 14: Please make yours, especially if you can tag the particular
- 39:48Speaker 14: place that would be outstanding, and then we will mention
- 39:53Speaker 14: the Thursday prior where we're going to go, and if
- 39:56Speaker 14: you want to go along and it fits in your
- 39:57Speaker 14: schedule and you want to do a little spending two,
- 40:00Speaker 14: that'd be great. I mean, we're not buying lunch for people,
- 40:02Speaker 14: but like eleven thirty on Tuesday, I will be in
- 40:05Speaker 14: Montgomery at Taylor Made Travis already knows I'm coming. If
- 40:08Speaker 14: you want to come join in the fun and buy
- 40:10Speaker 14: your lunch and sit down, we can just chat a
- 40:12Speaker 14: little bit and try the burger. The one thing I'm
- 40:15Speaker 14: trying to figure out in the execution of this coach McKay,
- 40:19Speaker 14: what do you think of the execution of your team? Frankly,
- 40:21Speaker 14: I'm in favor of I'm all for it. Yeah, I'm
- 40:23Speaker 14: What I'm trying to figure out is do I just
- 40:25Speaker 14: get the basic burger everywhere I go so that I
- 40:29Speaker 14: can kind of compare and contrast.
- 40:31Speaker 11: Or do I walk in.
- 40:32Speaker 14: And say, okay, what's the house speciality, as we would
- 40:35Speaker 14: say in the UK, you know, what, what is your
- 40:38Speaker 14: burger that's gonna make you famous? And do I try that?
- 40:42Speaker 14: Or do I do I holler ahead and say, hey,
- 40:44Speaker 14: maybe do a half and half so that I can
- 40:46Speaker 14: try both. I'm still trying to figure out, Well, he's
- 40:49Speaker 14: the puzzle.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll do logistics.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Tom Bragg was in here earlier, and Bragg said, look,
- 40:53Speaker 4: if he needs a second, So what you could do
- 40:56Speaker 4: is you could take somebody with you, you know, and
- 40:58Speaker 4: like maybe cut a burger in half or something. They
- 41:01Speaker 4: do do that because I learned this, you know, a
- 41:03Speaker 4: long time ago, watching food shows and also on barstool
- 41:05Speaker 4: and stuff like that.
- 41:07Speaker 2: It not on barstools, but on barstool sports. Well, okay,
- 41:09Speaker 2: I learned on barstools.
- 41:11Speaker 4: I learned that if you want to for pizza, for example,
- 41:14Speaker 4: if you want to know what kind of pizza the
- 41:17Speaker 4: place says good pizza ordered cheese pizza, you know, you
- 41:19Speaker 4: order the chiefs because if they can't do that, they
- 41:21Speaker 4: can't do anything else.
- 41:22Speaker 14: I said that exact thing in a conversation last night.
- 41:24Speaker 14: I usually ordered the basic pepperoni when I try a
- 41:27Speaker 14: pizza joint, because if they can't get the basic right,
- 41:29Speaker 14: they're high falutin. Let's throw thirty eight things on it.
- 41:32Speaker 14: Fancy pizza is not going to happen. That's a brilliant
- 41:36Speaker 14: idea from Tom Braggan. I've been a fan of his
- 41:38Speaker 14: since he was Tom Humble.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Okay, all right, So are you primarily focusing on Kannauw Valley?
- 41:45Speaker 2: I mean, are you?
- 41:47Speaker 14: You know what, if we can fit it in, this
- 41:48Speaker 14: weather's still pretty good, So if we can fit it
- 41:51Speaker 14: into the schedule, I'm willing to make a drive. I mean,
- 41:53Speaker 14: you know, Montgomery's not my backyard, but you know there's
- 41:57Speaker 14: there's a place that's within walking distance of where we're
- 41:59Speaker 14: sitting now that a lot of folks have suggested that
- 42:01Speaker 14: I may give a try. So hopefully this idea will
- 42:05Speaker 14: grow and we'll get to do three or four of
- 42:07Speaker 14: these tours a year. And I'm I'm I'm game to
- 42:11Speaker 14: go wherever Mountain Mama allows me to go.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Now, what does your go to on a burger? I mean,
- 42:16Speaker 4: just if you if you go, if you're going to
- 42:17Speaker 4: a place that you've been before, what's your go to toppings.
- 42:20Speaker 7: On a berth?
- 42:20Speaker 2: Uh?
- 42:21Speaker 14: If if I had my brothers, it's pepper jack cheese,
- 42:26Speaker 14: It's bacon, and it's a little some tangy barbecue sauce,
- 42:29Speaker 14: something a little zip to it. Okay, you know the
- 42:33Speaker 14: I know there are people who are just do standard lettuce, tomato, onion,
- 42:37Speaker 14: and yeah, I mean you do you but that all
- 42:39Speaker 14: sounds like vegetables.
- 42:41Speaker 11: That sounds almost like a salad.
- 42:42Speaker 4: And well, sometimes I think with burgers, if you this
- 42:45Speaker 4: is just my opinion, if you order them with everything,
- 42:48Speaker 4: then I want to be able to taste the meat,
- 42:50Speaker 4: you know, And so I'm not opposed to that.
- 42:52Speaker 2: But I mean, I'm a simple guy.
- 42:54Speaker 11: On a burger.
- 42:54Speaker 4: I like cheese and acting, to be honest with you,
- 42:56Speaker 4: I like American cheese. Ye better, I like American cheese, mayo,
- 43:01Speaker 4: a little bit of onion and bacon. That's my go
- 43:04Speaker 4: to and one of my favorite places to go, and
- 43:07Speaker 4: you and I have broken bread there before we have
- 43:10Speaker 4: is the Cafe in Saint Albans, known for their wings.
- 43:14Speaker 4: Of course their wings are fantastic, but I almost always
- 43:18Speaker 4: get a burger when i'm there because I love their
- 43:20Speaker 4: burgers and it's a simple burger that's exactly what I
- 43:22Speaker 4: get on mine there and they're great.
- 43:24Speaker 14: So to bring it all the way back around to
- 43:26Speaker 14: Wendy's and their New Tend's, it's not that I don't
- 43:29Speaker 14: want to try them. I mean, if a deal pops
- 43:31Speaker 14: up on the app, I'll give it a shot. But
- 43:33Speaker 14: when I want chicken, I don't go to Wendy's. And
- 43:36Speaker 14: when I go to Wendy's, I'm not going there for chicken.
- 43:39Speaker 11: So you do you?
- 43:41Speaker 12: You do you?
- 43:42Speaker 11: Still I'm getting a bacon hater when I go there.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Now, I will say this, if you make it down
- 43:47Speaker 4: to my homeland in Logan County, Morrison's drive in, Okay,

- 49:17Speaker 14: and I think Dave said they're at twenty when last
- 49:20Speaker 14: we talked about the number of entries.

- 50:06Speaker 4: and I'm gonna be I am the helper, they tell
- 50:09Speaker 4: me with the judging, because you know, you only take
- 50:11Speaker 4: one bite, yes, and so there's you know, somebody's got
- 50:15Speaker 4: to finish those off.
