Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's the Mile High Huddle Podcast on this fine Monday evening.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host Chad Jensen.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: Half my face is numb because I've been at the dentist for three and a half hours and I litter.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the stream was so late getting up tonight is I got home at about 10 to six and immediately created the stream.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: So I collect my smile.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: Only like half my face will go up.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm here with my partner, Zach Kelberman, you know him, you love him.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's been monitoring the news wire.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's been seeing all the buzz all day long.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: And Zach before I went to the dentist, the big news of the day was a necessary Bronco related.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: But the Miami Dolphins moving on from Tyree, kill.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: What do you make of that?
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, a move that's been long discussed in the running for Miami, new management, new GM, new head coach, kind of fade a complete for Tyreek.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the primeers are, I will get into why the Broncos should or should not sign on the pros and cons.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm against it right off the bat chat.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say I'm against the potential move.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's turning, what is he going to be?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be 32 on March 1st.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's a walking, talking, character, and certain Chad, a locker room issue.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: His best year is behind him because of the knee injury.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: He tore up ligaments, he had an ACL as well with that.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_02]: So no, there are much better options that the Broncos could look toward on the trademark it on the free agent market, hell, even in the draft before I would go after Tyrant Kill.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just knowing his injury situation this last season, he only appeared in four games.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: 21 catches 265 yards and a tudi before he got hurt the year before it in fact Zach you can really look at it as the one two three four five six seven eight preceding seasons it's kind of crazy he's been in the league for a minute now uh... was pretty consistent production I mean that's six out of those eight or thousand yard receives us thousand yard receiving seasons twenty twenty four
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's a little bit of a cancerous type guy.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Although, although he has, if the culture's right, I think he's a guy that'll buy in as evidenced by his contributions to Kansas City Chiefs, Canon, however, they did let him go.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he was always a deep threat kind of guy, a break the game open kind of guy.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he has that one utility left to offer after the knee injury now.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: So you add on all the baggage, the locker room stuff, his age, what he might demand contractually.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a no go for the Broncos 100% if I'm George Payton.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even calling tirey kill.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even picking up the phone.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what do you guys think?
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's see, actually, Mr. producer.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: What are you guys thinking about, uh, Terry, so string, guy, this is how right you were.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I just as I'd rather get a root canal and see, don't forget Terry Kill.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: I feel you, dude, uh, jail and water much better choice to be honest, though, we need running back more.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hear you.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Shannon Mills checking it on the top rope.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: A Mount Rushmore superstar.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: We love you, Shannon.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for your support, my friend.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: She says, Good evening, Chad Zax Scott and Broncos Country.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely would be hard.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: A hard pass for me on Tyree Kill.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're okay, Chad.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm okay.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I just had a root canal and a little bit of a complication that took a little bit longer I should have been in and out like hour and a half total, but I was in the chair for three and a half hours and as I was telling the fellows before we went live I will not sit down in the dentist chair unless they basically have the gas on so I was I was feeling pretty good by the time I walked out of that bad boy And I lost track of time.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: I just put in some tunes
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: They know me up, time passed here I am.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm doing fine.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a little, nothing that a little time won't heal.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thank you Shannon so much.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's the consensus in Baracko's country chat.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't seen too many Baracko's fans wanting the team to go after Tyree Kale.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think most people agree that it's one player they should steer far, far, clear for them.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: You have a jail in water.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's still interesting, of course.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have to give up some some capital to get him now on that front Zach there was some what would you call it some perspective trade proposals.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: Was that the department of redundancy department some trade proposals will just say Zach that involved was it from Barnwell that involved the Broncos acquiring AJ Brown what was that about I missed it I'm going off what you you said to me.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so he thinks the Broncos should trade for AJ Brown.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: They receive her out of Philadelphia.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: He proposes the Broncos send Riley Moss and a 2026 second round draft pick in exchange for AJ Brown and a 2027, 2027 fifth rounder I think.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: So the crux of the deal is a second round pick and Riley Moss for AJ Brown.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: And,
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: I would do that 10 out of 10 times before I sign Tyree kill and I would might do it any way chat.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: You'd be giving up a starting corner and a premium draft paper.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: There's no receiver you're going to get in round two or round one for that matter that can bring to the table what AJ Brown does.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: It is interesting, AJ Brown is 28, he'll be 29 this season.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: So it's his age 29 season.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Since he's been a pro, this is dating back to his Tennessee days.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's nothing but thousand yards except once.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: And that was his final year at Tennessee where he missed four games.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: So he finished with eight hundred sixty nine yards that that season.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: But last year,
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: 121 targets, 78 catches, 1,000 in three receiving yards, 7 touchdowns.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: And he was obviously not that stoked, Zach, on his usage in the new offense, there in Philly, that they kind of add its ups and downs, mostly downs, relative to coming off that big, super bowl win.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's interesting, Riley Moss or AJ Brown.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: That one's pretty simple, as much as I love Riley Moss, that one would be pretty simple for me.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and not some mention, AJ Brown is like a high-end version of Cortland Sutton and I don't know in this scenario whether you're keeping Sutton and AJ Brown, but you put both players on the field.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: You're increasing the botanix's red zone success by 50% minimum.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's a demon who can help out botanix, which is as a safety blanket as a possession receiver.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's a good receiver.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: We got David Young can jump in with an excellent point at Dear Member of Superstar Sand.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Tyree Kill is an eye player, not a team player.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a great point.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of what he's known for, my brother.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: So we got the pop of Bear checking in too.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: David McElrath, great to see you.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: saying good evening Broncos country with a $5 super chat.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Papa Bear.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Every single day without Phil, we see the Papa Bear in the stream thrown down a super helping us keep the lights on.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, big dog.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: But what are you guys wanting to see of these names we've mentioned tonight, Roy, a dear member, saying good evening.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'll pass on Hill.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: Keith, this is kind of what I, my
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: figure that out.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: And there's some great wide receiver options in this draft.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, you know, even as the number 30 overall, pick in each round and whatnot, like the Broncos, if you go fill the major hole at running back in free agency, you could double dip at wide receiver.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, key.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: If I do not disagree, the Broncos need a running back, but I think it was Scott that said earlier, it doesn't have to be one of the other first.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: There's no real ranking in terms of urgency because the Broncos can make move simultaneously.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: They can go get a running back and they can trade for AJ Brown at the same time, but the point still stands.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's the number one goal of the offseason is improving the supporting cast around Bonyx and that's not just wide receiver that also includes running back and includes tight end and an includes figuring out what you're doing along on the offensive line with Ben Powers and maybe a center behind Luke Wattenberg.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, well said, guys.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Keith Brugman, good to see you, my friend, you say, and are you telling me this was some of the other news today, by the way, guys.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: The dolphins, it's a fire cell.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're basically starting over, which actually.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Hortens well, Zach, if you're one of those that really wants the Broncos to turn over every stone relative to water, there's there they're probably more amenable to talking and maybe not as I don't know, strict on what they're asking for just because they're blown it up, but they released or it was reported today, Zach, they're planning to release Bradley Chub, one of the two either way, he's saying, are you telling me we could get bond Miller and Bradley Chub?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, how time will change things?
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, the so long ago, Zach, those two were combining, what was it 2018, his rookie year, Chubs that is, uh, to, uh, well, it was 24 and a half something sacks, those were the days, but the Broncos, that's not a team need nowadays.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: They, they're pretty said at Rushlinebacker.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: And no, and how about I put this out on Twitter, but how about the butterfly effect?
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: So the Brock was draft, Bradley Chub, over Josh Allen, Trub, Chub was traded for a first round pick.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Denver then trades that pick for Sean Payton, Sean Payton drafts, Bonyx, and then Sean Payton and Bonyx end up beating Josh Allen and Buffalo in the postseason, all because of Bradley Chub.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't want to bring it back, but I will salute him for his indirect service to the franchise.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, Bradley Chub last season, just for fun, just for the sake of kind of checking up on our boys, he's about to hit the market really for the first time in his career.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, 2024, he was out the whole season, but last year started all 17, but Zach relatively low sack numbers for a guy that was on the field ostensibly as much as he was.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: He only had a half sack.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: So he's now, by the way, entering his age 30 season.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's always been the rap on on Chub though is that his his draft status and and what his athleticism shows on tape It doesn't match the production on the field.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: He should have been a higher sack guy kind of like a jadavion clowny Jadavion whatever in terms of he's not a bust He's a decent player.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's a good player, but he should have been a great player considering where he was drafted and Bradley Chub is not a great player I remember when he got the probalsek on seven and now like not alternate
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, made the probal starter or whatever, first seven and a half sacks, Zach, then he had a press conference, kind of got a little theory I'd over it and they shut him down for this season.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: You remember that?
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: That was, uh, let's see, what year was that?
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: That was 2020.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: That seems like yesterday to me, dude.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like history and it seems like decades ago.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: I can't believe it's been six years since that issue that shall not be named.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I mean, there was a time where Bradley show was seen as the next Von Miller to to Keith's comment here, but he quickly, the arrow quickly declined on him.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: We realized what he was and that's a mid-round talent, not a top five talent.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I, I hope, you know, hey, wish the best for Bradley Chub and I'm sure he'll land on his feet.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: He plays a premium position.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's healthy Zach and, you know, he's got a couple of probals under his belt as far as his resume goes.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: So wish him the best two son fill in the he's he great to see you out on Facebook.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: He says good evening Chad Zach and he can scout.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: What
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: and Eli Stowers, in my opinion, I would love all three Buckeham MHH for life, Broncos for life.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: So Caleb Banks, Scott and I got a good look at him at the senior bull, big defensive tackle from Florida, and he was very impressive.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's for dang sure he's an interesting guy.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: How badly do you need to run stuffing kind of DT nose tackle type?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Not saying that you couldn't use him, but do you really need him?
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: and then Eli Stowers, Stowers, how do you say it stores?
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's stuff.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now I think it's Stowers actually from Vanderbilt, interesting.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: They're all kind of Zack in the range of first, second, third round for the Denver Broncos.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel I appreciate the question, but like I say every time I will say until the combine anyway, it's so tough to talk about something that's two months out when we don't even know what the Broncos are doing in free agency, but on a macro level, obviously I co-sign any move where they get a receiver, but what Chad was saying there, I don't think a run stuff in DT is of the utmost importance.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: If they have one defensive area of need, it's inside linebacker.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're good along the defensive line even after losing JFF.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Scott, you think
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: that's tough.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's he'd be interesting.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Eric just dropped top 10 wide receivers of the class at milehyhuddle.com guys.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think that was yesterday.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't yesterday as the day before.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: And today, in fact, he dropped top 10 running back.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: Coopers listed if you want to learn a little bit more about him go go read about it at the website, but David young can jump in again.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, brother.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Love you.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing better.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: He says Broncos have a lot of big decisions to make this off season.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they do not only Zach in terms of who to bring in.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: who to pursue in the draft and all that, but 11 unrestricted free agents, John Franklin Myers, JK Dobbins, being the two big ones plus linebacker, right?
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: You can't go into a season with just one, you got to bring back, I guess you don't have to bring back Alex Singleton or Justin Sternad, but those are the big four and then I guess I'd round out the top five big internal decisions with P.J.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, giving J. Kwon, make Milan an extension.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think should be on the top of the the Broncos list, David, but Sean paid and also asked to round out his coaching staff.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: And we have to figure out if or when Davis Webb will be taking over play calling duties for Sean Peyton.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: The wins are blowing and saying yes right now, but that's nothing official yet.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot of decisions like he was saying there a lot you have to left to be uncovered.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's all just getting started.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, we're just barely getting rolling.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: And even though geez, we're already two weeks, more than two weeks into February, it just goes to show you guys, March 11th, which is when the New League year opens, it'll be here before you know it.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, thank you, David, really appreciate you.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Big guy, shout out here to Ronnie Ray, hope you're doing well on Facebook, my friend.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Keith says again, I saw post-ranking Javante Williams as the number three free agent running back.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: We do need a running back right Zach and all seriousness would you want to see Pookey back in the orange and blue?
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: I've been there done that they need to am hire.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if I don't want JK Dobbins back and if I want Bruce Hall, I definitely wouldn't want to settle for Juvante.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad he had success in Dallas.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he'll keep that going for the rest of his career.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: It might be a flash on the pan, but now I'm going for Bruce Hall.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going for Kenneth Walker.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going for Tyler Algier before I think about Juvante Williams.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, if it was a leaner free agent class, Zach, maybe maybe it's something that you look at, but there's some pretty good options fixing to hit the market.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now we'll see if Seattle makes any moves to keep Kenneth Walker the third or if the jets really do apply one of the tags to brief haul, but I mean, honestly guys, it's been it might sound
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: It might sound weird considering that Pookey is a former second round pick, but I would rather re-sign JK Dobbins because I saw him have some success as a Bronco in recent times.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen that from Javante, and even though he didn't finish the season,
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'd rather sign JK Dobbins, and I'd rather sign two running backs.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now then again, if you made Javante and JK Dobbins part of the solution, maybe they could be a great tandem, so to speak, but I don't think he'll, I think he'll end up returning to Dallas, that is what I'm guessing.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: Do we remember why we ran Javonte at a town on the first place?
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: Him running into the back of his offensive Lyman, three yards of carry this and that.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: The same thing we dogged RJ Harvey about at times is vision concerns.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why we want to bring that back in a Denver when we finally have a chance to upgrade meaningfully at the position.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a good point from Scott.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: He says, give Tyler Algear as an example.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: Dak Prescott as his quarterback, George Pick and C.D.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Lamb is the receivers.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then 300 touches and tell me, again, that Javonte is a better running back, right?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: You just don't get the stack boxes against the cowboys because there's just too many weapons that defenses that have to account for.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: And Broncos fans, guys, it wasn't that long ago that we were in a similar spot.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Think about it.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: In 2013, no Sean Moreno was kind of viewed as a tapped out dude, right?
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like he was basically viewed as a first round bust.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: He hadn't done much outside of his rookie year.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: Peyton Manning comes in, same thing.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: They don't dare stack the box.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: All of his runs came out of the shotgun, off tackle, out of the shotgun.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: He still got over a thousand yards and over double digit touchdowns and then the Broncos promptly led him leave.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: Plus, you know, Javansay had the season ending injury.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: He has a lot of carries already for someone who's only been in the league a handful of years.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: There's a higher upside plays.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: The broadcast can go ceiling and floor.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: I see Ronnie Ray saying, I feel else years the way.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm starting to lean that way as well.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: A guy who has a lot of tread left on his tires, who hasn't been exposed to starting level carries in the NFL, you're gonna be getting a running back to the next three or five years potentially.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's where I would go.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the vision, guys, that, you know, you're still seeing a lot of stack boxes against Bonyx and the Broncos.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: So bringing in weapons, because I think a opponent's Zach for the most part, they recognize the Bonyx can be a weapon in and of himself, like as a passer and as a runner.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's just that
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: They don't fear the weapons, like none of the, including Portland Sutton, like between the 20s, Zach, uh, known really fear Sutton, as soon as you get in the red zone, all of the sudden you're seeing them get double coverage and stuff like that.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: But you get some better skill positions, especially a wide receiver and heck, even if you had the exact same personnel in the running back room year over year, you probably end up seeing a much more efficient, uh, production from that group.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how you expect any quarterback to thrive when he has maybe one proven reliable receiver in court and certain and I don't even want to say reliable when he's out there dropping easy passes and a lack of a consistent running game.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: He had JK Dobbins for half of the season through two years in the NFL and he still produced.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm not saying he should have all pros everywhere around him, but he should have just a little more talent than what he's been given so far.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, string guy, Zach, you had a nice thread on this today, the butterfly effect of the Bradley Chub thing and it actually wasn't even really talking about the L way mistaken, all right, you were just talking about how the Bradley Chub trade ended up being kind of the full crew upon which this new era of the Broncos rest is actually quite interesting to kind of go, oh, wow, yeah, that's right.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's how this thing unfolded.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: Whoa.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I broke it down earlier on the podcast, but you could take it to step further with like the the the epilogue, whatever the beginning prologue epilogue where the brawl was all drafted Bradley Chub because they were gun shy after whiffing on packs and Lynch part of the reason they passed on Josh Allen, which because they don't want to go after a quarterback again, so if they never drafted Bradley Chub, maybe he'll end up with Sean Payton, maybe he'll end up with bonus.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what makes the butterfly effects so amazing and so insane.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: Excellent point is like,
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Man, when it was 2020's Act, 2021, even 2022, we're really lamenting 2023, I guess.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: The LA decision not to draft the guide that they probably knew the most about in that class, because he was just an hour and a half, two hours north.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: They scouted him like crazy at Wyoming, and they decided not to take him.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Had they who knows, we wouldn't be in this situation now.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: So exactly.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: Some things just happen for a reason.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: Bill jumping in again, would you guys give up a first round or to get?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Thomas or Drake London or Jalen Waddle.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, I would consider doing it for Jalen Waddle.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about the other two.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a no one Brian Thomas.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's two volatile right now with the first couple years of his career.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: Drake London, I would give up like a second and a third.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: I really like him.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Sean Peyton would be just head over heels with someone of his abilities as a blocker as the past catcher.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's a really, really underrated receiver.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: Jalen Wattles the no-brainer here.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: And apparently, Phil the Broncos made a call to Miami at the trade deadline.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: They wanted more than a first-round pick, probably two first-rounders.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: But like Chad said earlier, they had a fire sale.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's new management, new GM, new head coach.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: They might be more open to giving up water for maybe a first-round pick or maybe less.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: If AJ Brown check, I could go for a second-round and Riley Moss.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they can get Jalen for less than a first-rounder.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: That would be excellent.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it has all the appearances of a fire sale, like they're genuinely starting over.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: So new head coach, they're going to figure out a new quarterback situation, strike while that iron's hot if you can.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: Eric Holden, the house.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, bro?
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the support Big Dog.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: He says, hey, guys, the other night I mentioned about trading two second round picks for Jamison Williams and Zach hated that idea.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just curious why not because I think he could be a true number one and he's a speed demon Zach.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think I don't want to speak for you, Chad, but I don't think that you were too keen on that either,
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: He could be a true number one when you could give up draft picks like we talked about a second rounder for AJ Brown for a proven number one not for speculative not for hypothetical for someone that's already produced on the level of a number one receiver in the NFL plus the he has a little baggage he has some injury concerns I think he had a suspension to right and in Detroit.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of receivers that Brock us could look toward.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that I would gamble on the upside if there even is any upside left with Jamison Williams Yeah, he was a comeback player the year guy in 2024 because he had that injury
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: and Zach then he came back with a thousand and one yards that year last season 25 he had a career high 65 receptions for 1117 yards seven touchdowns.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: So he's interesting, but I don't think he's good enough to really change the math to justify the two second round picks, whereas you could probably get a guy pretty dang close to what he could offer you with one of those second round picks
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, hey, beggars can't be choosers, Broncos right now, Zack.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to completely shoot down the idea.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos right now need to find as much dynamic impact to flood that skill position as possible.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like whatever they can scare up, they need to consider and whatever teams are willing to talk about, at least have it on the table.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: And as George Peyton talks about often, I'll always be willing to make that call.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're going to call on everything.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be on an in on every deal.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see and whether or not that ends up being a deal.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I threw out some heavy allegations there.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to make sure I was correct.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I was, he was suspended, James and Williams for two games in October 2024 for a PEDs, a PED violation.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: And then in 2023, in a four game suspension for a gambling violation, I'm not giving up capital for someone that's not a no doubt proven number one that also has that baggage.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: Give me AJ Brown before I get James and Williams.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, thank you though, Eric K. Listen, friends can disagree.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's cool that you feel strongly about it.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we love that you're contributing to the conversation.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: And we're using our brains tonight.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about why we believe a certain way.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so we appreciate you big dog Glenn jumping in from Melbourne.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: Great to have you palsy and good morning for him right
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Then, jam Miller in the draft, we go, Zach, help me your body on this last one.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: Do you like our, I'm not sure about that second part, bro.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: You'll ask me there.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think he means going into the draft and looking inside linebacker in the rounds two through four.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: Hashtag Free Agency come and state of being Super Bowl 2027.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, dude, you are one of the great state of being members of our community and give a shout out to Jackson.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right, from the football priest big dog.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: But Zach, I'm telling you, I like the idea very much.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: So a bring-in-back JK Dobbins, pairing him with an algae, or pairing him with a brisepairin' him with a walker.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: The more that time passes, the more the guy that's rising to the surface for me as a fit
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's how jeer dude.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you him and Dobbins as the one to punch, frees up RJ Harvey to be that scape back, change a pace guy, weapon passing dude.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Broncos are free to really use some draft capital to load up at wide receiver.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: If you re-sign Dobbins, you can't go wrong if you add another running back.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: You can't go wrong if you added brief haul, walker, or algae, or to that group.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's a really interesting dynamic three-some-wise between them.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of different skill sets, a very diverse talents, and they would be a massive upgrade on what the Broncos put out on the field in 2025.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm with you on that Glenn.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Hey Chase, good to see you pal, he's saying, talking about Devon Lloyd, the linebacker.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: I can't get with going after Lloyd because he's projected to get around maybe 20 million per year and he's only had the one good season under his belt.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's true, you'd be where the one year wonders, right?
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: You got to be where the one year wonders, but Bob Jews, Louise was that year.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: Devin Lloyd, just to recap, former first round pick out of Utah in 2022.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't say that it was his only good year, but it was his big year relative to accolades, Zach relative to,
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: you know takeaways but his I mean he's been over a hundred here's what's funny they view twenty twenty five is viewed as his kind of breakout year for obvious reasons and yet it's the only year he's had as a pro where he didn't total north of a hundred tackles he finished with eighty one
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: However, where he made up for that Zach was the five count on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 interceptions, plus even recovered a fumble.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: But if you look at his first three years, man, he's at 115 tackles, 127 tackles, 113 tackles.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: And over that three-year span, Zach, four interceptions.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think he's as one year wonder risky as, say, even Nick Benito was coming off of that 20-24 season to be honest with you.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: relative to sample size in Devon Lloyd, but the big splashy plays in the picks and return in 1999 yards and all that stuff's that, you know, that is a little bit newer, but as a linebacker, he's been pretty consistent.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm with Chase.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's going to get just ridiculous money considering the season he had in Jacksonville had that's how the market usually goes They pay on momentum and Devon Lloyd has a lot of momentum right now.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: I would be okay if the Broncos threw that contract out him in one of two scenarios if they had more already free cap space I think they have 23 or 26 million.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that much they can free more and also if they had a better defensive coordinator and what I mean by that
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: is historically, Vance Joseph has spoiled whatever true dominant elite level inside line back or he said.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: Even with Drake Greenlaw, I didn't see that much of an impact beyond one or two plays.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know that I want to allocate those resources for a luxury move.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: I would rather put that money toward helping out bonyx and getting him a receiver or running back.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Spaceman, a new ish, remember, good to see you, buddy, saying very few elite receivers aren't divas and me type of players, comes with the territory.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: The Cooper Cups, the JSNs,
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: Pookin' to Kooa.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Kooa's, yes, sorry.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: Don't grow on trees, just deal with the diva.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a fair point.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: I would submit, though, Portland Sutton, outside of his beginning years.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: He got into a little bit of trouble, not like off the field, trouble, but drama has first couple of years.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember Zach still that training camp fight he got in with the manual Sanders.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: all that stuff and ended up being right, you know, like he ended up out last to them and not only that, but producing pretty hard his second year having that that probal nice probal year catching passes from Joe Flacco.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: Drew Locke and what was the middle got Brandon Allen.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I guess he's even even Portland Sutton Zach is not impervious to the me players stuff, but Brad Murdock jumping in off the top rope brother.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: Big dog for the support seriously, man.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: It means the world to us.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's saying, good evening, everyone.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Middle linebacker has me a big concern.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: Stirnett is likely to demand a big payday.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Singletons get in long in the tooth, and can we trust Greenlaw to stay healthy?
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: thoughts on spending a little bit there.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: So we just talked about it Zach Relative to, you know, pursuing a dev and Lloyd caliber free agent.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you necessarily need to do that.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: I would be interested in it.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: I would be interested in at least finding out exactly what Lloyd's looking for and how much it could make sense for the Broncos.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think what you end up seeing Zach is, the Broncos bring back one off.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: See, they're single, thinner, sternat.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you're only bringing back sternat if he has assurances that he's starting.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: And not just that, Zach, but he really has worked hard the last two years to put himself in position where he's very attractive now on the open market.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's gonna have some suitors and he's not gonna come cheap as he has on these one-year deals he's gotten.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he should have lost two or three seasons.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: And for the last two off seasons.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know the problem with Singleton.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be 33 But he's a team captain, you know, like he's beloved in the locker room.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's not as bad as He kind of seemed like he was trending the first quarter of the season.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: He really solidified and got better So I don't know what to expect there, but I do think one of the two comes back
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: Can we trust Greenlaw to stay healthy?
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not Brad, just being realistic.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's the problem when you sign injury prone players as good as they are.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: They're probably going to get injured.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what happened with Drake Greenlaw.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: So they're going to have to have a good backup plan.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm which Ed, I think, I'm letting Singleton walk.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: I understand his story and his locker room presence, this and that, but he's a liability more often than not when he's on the field.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: I want the best players on the field.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm probably bringing back Strenaud, and I'm seeing if I can go after Devon Lloyd, maybe a Kway Walker, if Green Bay lets him go, but that's a position where I'm leaning on the draft.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm me.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm drafting fairly high, maybe the second or third round, and I'm doubling down later on the draft as well.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: And bringing in all these different players and made the best man win.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_02]: You'll have green law, 100% borrowing another offseason injury, and you'll have Strenaud in the mix, and then you'll have a couple of rookies.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the way to go for inside line
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: But it is a fair concern, because when you look at keeping the defense a strength, right?
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: Going into 2026, your secondary is intact.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a new coach, but your secondary is intact.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: Your D-line minus JFM, the main majority of that unit, intact, your rush linebacker, edge guys intact.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: big question marks in the middle and, you know, of all the points on the defense, those act, that's also the spot over the last couple of years where the Broncos have had the most kind of, you know, whether it was Singleton's season ending injury in 2024, this last season, Green Lobby and hurt, and then Singleton having to miss only a little time with this cancer scare and all that.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: It is something that if you wanna keep the defense
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: attended to, but I don't think it's a four alarm fire, honestly, just because you got green lot coming back and yeah, you got the injury concerned, but they'll bring back one of these two guys and I think they'll be all right and kind of bet on the youth of their roster and look at the draft, which you know, Glen's talking about Golday as around two or four guy and I mean, there's some interesting linebackers in this class that will also interest the Broncos.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's where I would go.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough to start a rookie at inside linebacker in the middle of your defense, and especially in the been the scheme, the Broncos play.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: So if you bring back strunade, you have green line, you have your starters, and you can bring those rookies along slowly, no matter who they draft, whether it's a high around inside linebacker or someone later in the draft.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: It puts a little less pressure on them and you can, you know, pass them the baton later on the season for them to take over.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think like Chad said, I agree.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a main concern, a primary concern, but it is one to keep in mind on defense.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: If there's a biggest need on defense, it's inside linebacker.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: We got Mike Thompson a dear member saying, I've seen people here shoot down Alec Pierce when he went over a thousand yards with 11 games.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: with Daniel Jones.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: Five games with rivers and one game with a random guy.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't get it.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there are some people at MHH that are really high on Pierce and I think he could be a great fit piece to the puzzle, but not that
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: totally change in the math, scaring defensive straight guy.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's got Zack an insane yards per reception.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: Number if you look at Alec Pierce's numbers, with the cults.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let me just remind myself, oh come on, don't make me do the security verification profile reference.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: I love you, but you're killing me here.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: Last season, Zack, 21.3 yards per catch.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: season before that was actually his career high 22.3 yards per catch.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not that he's couldn't bring some value, but he's definitely a vertical threat, but he's a weird vertical threat.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's not that explosive short area, burst scare people, JS, and type a guy.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's a long
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: Because he's an all or nothing receiver either he's scoring a 60 yard touchdown or he's finishing with like three catches in a game I have his game log pulled up right now he had two games last season over a hundred yards this the last game of the season against the Texans he had four for one thirty two and two touchdowns.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: and then in week nine, I think it was six receptions for 115 yards.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: The other games though, one catch for 36, two for 48, one for 26, one for 16, it's all or nothing.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to commit either cap dollars or draft compensation to a receiver, I want someone more proven.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: I want
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: standing at six three two eleven.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: He also had a 40 and a half inch vertical and a ten foot nine inch broad jump so he's got some explosiveness to him and there are some.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: unofficial times that had him at four three three.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a reason Zack that he's he's been able to get down field and produce the way he has albeit as you point out smaller bite size in terms of, you know, you look at the the number of receptions relative to his targets.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he had 84 targets last year.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: He caught 47.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's almost 50%.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: But when he would catch them, they'd go for 21.3 yards per pop.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: You'd think he'd even have more than the six touchdowns that he did, especially with how much of an offensive juggernaut the Colts were before Daniel Jones got hurt.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I just feel like with all the potentially available receivers putting your eggs in the Alec Pierce number one basket is not the it's not going to be a net positive for the Broncos maybe if they had a proven no doubt if they had like a CD lamb or Jamar Chase and you wanted to bring in a a proven number two guy a top end number two Alec Pierce would fit the bill but between Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin you basically have one Alec Pierce mold them first before you commit 30 million a year to someone who's not even a number one
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's a phenomenal number two.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Alec Pierce is.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: So you could definitely make some hay with him, but what you're trying to do is upgrade over Sutton.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: And that'll be easier said than done.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: So it depends on how some of these dominoes fall.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: You don't look at gift horse in the mouth.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: You keep them on the radar and Alec Pierce could be a very realistic option for the Broncos.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: We got quite in cold while check it in saying that RJ Harvey will get better.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: We definitely want Dobbins and Tyler Algear as well.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think RJ will get better.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: And the one thing that really impressed me, Zach about RJ, he stayed healthy dude.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: He stayed available.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I can't even remember him popping up on the injury report, let alone, of course, he didn't miss any games.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's impressive, especially for a rookie that's going from the college format to play in deep into December and into January.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: multiple more games than they have to do in college.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: So he impressed me, RJ Harvey, but just got to have better down to down consistency as a ball carrier.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: And he was making some big catches and taking some big hits for the Broncos.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_02]: He came up big as a receiving threat.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, credit to him for the durability.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: Eric jumping in again, buddy.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, pal.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, man.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: He says, OK, OK, you sold me on water and brown or brown.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: Call my amier, Philly, and offer them the number 62 overall.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: Pick draft, sedique the tight end, and a middle line back, or either hill from Texas or Los and from Alabama.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: And go win this super bowl.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go Broncos.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, dude.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, sedique.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's an interesting guy, the organ tight end.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: good chance that he'll be there decent chance he'll be there at number 30 if the Broncos want to go that way.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's currently before the combine and I want to emphasize that pre combine he's the only tight end that's viewed as a top 50 pick.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, but he is interesting and Hill, I think Eric's very first mock draft of the 2026 off season.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: He had the Broncos taking Hill in the first round.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Eric, thank you for the super and glad we can sell you a little bit.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_02]: This is as close to perfect as as you could go for the offseason for the Broncos.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_02]: I only say as perfect because you're not mentioning running back and that might be the biggest priority of them all.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: So if you want to include signing Walker or Algear or Breeze Hall with this plan, it gets a 10 out of 10.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_02]: As it stands though, solid 9.5.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: I love the way you're thinking though.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, buddy.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Ronnie Ray speaking of Sanders.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: Some are saying that he would make Emmanuel Sanders that is a great receiver coach because of his beef with Sutton with that push him out the door.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: If Sanders gets hired, I don't think it was a lasting beef.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: It was a tempest flair type of moment, you know.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: More kind of a brother league.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: rivalry that more so than genuine beef from what I understand and Zach also I got to tell you from what I can remember it's been a while you know this was 20 summer of 2018 and I'm trying to remember that article it was something like they they were heard Sanders was heard saying something like
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: You're not that guy yet.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: You're not that guy yet or something like that and whatever.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: And by the end of that season, Zach, he was that guy because they traded DT, God bless.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: They traded DT and then Sanders got hurt.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: So by the last four or five games of the 2018 season, Sutton was the defacto.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be a defacto meeting like
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: They ran out of guys number one and then he opened that next season Sanders was gone and he was the guy like they made space So I don't think there's a beef, but if he wanted to come in man They need a receiver coach.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's definitely would be interesting and Zach Emmanuel Sanders did go play for Sean Payton
- 42:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was going to say it's been like a eon in terms of NFL terms.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was like you said, 2018, 2019 or something like that.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if there was a beef, that's probably squashed by now.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: Eight, eight, seven years ago is quite a while in the NFL.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: And just because I'll say this, I'm sure Sanders would make for an interesting coach of fun coach to play for, but just because you played receiver in the NFL doesn't mean it's going to translate to being a good coach.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: so we'll see it where they go with that position.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to remember something here real quick hang tight with me once that guy's I'm trying to remember the actual so he went from Denver that's what I remember okay so he went from Denver to San Francisco
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: In 2019, then he went to the New Orleans Saints Zach for the 2020 season, Emmanuel did.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then had one last, that was one of the last two, the second to last year of the Sean Peyton regime in New Orleans and then Sanders gave it the old college try one more time with Josh Allen and the bills in 2021.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: So that was his last year.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: But he had quite the career man.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: He finished just shy of 10,000 yards receiving, which, you know, that's not bad for a dude that, what was he, for the stealers.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to wear a third round pick, I think.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, it would be interesting.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: And he's still very much a Denver guy.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: And he has the Sean Peyton Ties and Zach.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: They happen to need a wide receiver coach.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe it'll bring him in for like a summer internship.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see where they go with that.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you also mentioned John Morton.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he's still available or not, but that was to me, no doubt candidate.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: One thing I remember about Sanders is he caught the ball a lot with his body.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember him being a drops guy much.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: We can look at the actual numbers, but it's kind of beside the point.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: But he caught a lot of passes like this where it's his body and then he closes arm, you know, you close your arms over the ball.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Peyton really emphasized this things that you know, the thumbs together and all that so I don't know how much of an interest.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: Emmanuel has and getting into the grind of the coaching life.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a grind.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's still a young man relatively speaking, Zach with a lot of money a young family.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: You want to go throw yourself into coaching.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: You got to really have that burning in your soul, I think, to turn over that leaf.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: But Ron, good to see you, Paul.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see one of our pivotal Mount Rushmore members of this community.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing well.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Big dog this Monday.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: We've got smiles in the house and smash the like button.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: We only have 24 likes.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, I may change fam.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Do we really?
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, guys?
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: We need those likes fellas and ladies, we need your help on that.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: A string guy.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: Chatter Zach.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think of Nick mocking Illinois quarterback, Luke Altmire to Denver?
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: Is this because he was Bryant's cue in the citrus bowl?
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure, but he was decently impressive at the senior bowl.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: For most of the senior bolt Scott, he was the guy we like the most that kind of like stood out the most, uh, but that was just to keep it in perspective, you know, none of those quarterbacks at the senior bolt were really popping outside of Diego, but he just a little guy, you know, so, um, but I have no idea.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't talked to Nick about the mock, uh, but he, you know, for a developmental guy, maybe I don't know where he had the Broncos mocking him.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: what round, uh, but interesting guy.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I, I don't know why I can't speak for Nick.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: I can't speak for his reasoning.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that they need someone that could take over the third string quarterback role for Sam Allen year, but a string guy would, I would suggest asking Nick for his, uh, his reasoning behind that pick.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now Scott, the last thing you just said in the DM
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just curious, because I don't remember.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember that while we were watching Cole Payton from North Dakota State, he's saying, I like the most overall of the senior book order back.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: Eric, yo, super chat, number three, brother.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Eric.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: Saying, ReSign and J.K. bothers me because of the injury history.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: At running back, I feel as though RJ should be the number one
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: Why aren't you an algebra fan?
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just curious, but here's here's the way to look at it there.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that you're signing JK to come in and be the guy again, which is what he was.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: RJ was a compliment to
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: JK Dobbins as the guy.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: You bring him in as a component to the puzzle, not, you know.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: So he's in tandem to, I don't care how you who's the one who's the two, but it's a pretty equal snap share, like an Alger and a Dobbins being your first and second downbacks and you bring in an RJ on third down and in the red zone.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very formidable running back room.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think you'd have to spend all that much.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, the Broncos have decent cap space.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: just I a 30 million and that's before they make any moves go to any players do any restructures like they're in pretty good shape cap wise act and free free 93 of the Russell Wilson dead money
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Eric, I feel like we've talked about this pretty extensively tonight.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone has their flavor of ice cream they like.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_02]: You like Greek go-dattle.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: I like Tyler L.G.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: Or Brishal or Kenneth Walker.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not really being picky.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you about the JK Dobbins injury history, but if they choose to resign him as like a ballast or an insurance policy, I wouldn't hate that as well.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wait a minute, it's Pearl's birthday.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yo, happy birthday, Pearl.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's your birthday, shout her A.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Eric, brother, thank you, big dog.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: And look, I understand why it's on your mind.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Running back situation to me, it's the biggest need.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: Goes running back, wide receiver, tight end, a linebacker in that order.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm with you and that they need some solutions, big dog.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: They need some solutions.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care if you read this or not, but I'm trying to follow the logic.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: Franklin is a number three.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: with 700 yards and six scores because of the screens, but water is a true number one with 800-ish yards.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: So let's break this down very simply, Zach.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: What is it about Jalen Water?
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: To you, that makes him a number one caliber receivers.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: When we talk about, you're trying to find an upgrade, over-sutting a guy that turns Sutton into an excellent number two, not a lower and maybe mid tier number one.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: Water that maybe gives you a true number one.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, well, these types of comparisons are frustrating to me because I feel like they're disingenuous.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_02]: You can't really compare two different receivers and two different roles on two different teams and two different situations.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you look at Wattles production, especially after losing Tyree Kale, it holds up as a number one receiver.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: Troy Franklin, the majority of his production, or lack thereof, came on screen passes, or passes near the line of scrimmage.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: He had more drops, I'm assuming, then Jaylin Wattles, I can't prove that because I don't have the numbers in front of me.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's just looking at the situations and looking beyond the box score and it's all preference as well.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a fan of Jalen Water.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: You might not be.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I still think Mike for what it's worth.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: I still think it's possible that Franklin could really develop into an upper tier like an Alec Pierce caliber number two-wide receiver.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when we say all the Broncos have court on Sutton and then a handful of number three type guys, we are being we're painting with very broad strokes overall as a number two in Denver's relative to the volume of passing that the Broncos had with Botanix in his second year.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was pretty dang good and especially as you point out here in your comment.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: how what he was asked to do with all the screens, right?
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: But he ends up with six touchdowns, which if memory serves is what Kortland finished with.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think Kortland Sutton, you in 2025, I'm pretty sure six touchdowns.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, seven touchdowns.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I was one off.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: But Franklin Zach, I was, I think we talked about this last night.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: He was listed by in-game as the second best value receiver in the NFL last year because of his production,
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: relative to only making about a million bucks.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't get the point and the motive that Mike's trying to push here, your anti-tory Franklin, or pro-tory Franklin, anti-Jayland water, your pro-allic peers, it's your opinion.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: I just think if you look at what he's done on an individual basis, a weekly basis, it's apples and oranges.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: If the Broncos can upgrade the receiver room with a player of Jalen Wattles Magnitude, you have to do it.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: If they could do that without appears as well, I would encourage them to do it, but I just
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: comes out of opinion.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: I also think water is a guy, Mike, so some food for thought.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: Another thing that separates these two receivers, water is a wide receiver that kind of forces defenses to play a little bit differently and to account for him and you know, taking attention away from
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: Franklin's not quite there yet.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he grows into it.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he becomes that maybe he's very much kind of been somewhat limited by what Sean Payton's asked him to do.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: And to this point, still Zach, or the Broko screen game, despite its prolific place in the offense, it's still pretty, pretty ramshackle, if you ask me.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_01]: So there's room for improvement there, and I wonder how much personnel could play a part in that or if it's scheme or what?
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: But guys, we're at 52 minutes.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: We still have a little bit of time.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what we're going to do.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go through a couple messages for you.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're going to come back and spend a couple more minutes looking at the chat one last time.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: So don't go anywhere.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's also a quarterback play.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_02]: Man, Troy, Franklin, had bonus.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: Alec Pierce had Daniel Jones for Majority of the Year and Daniel Jones is playing good football.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_02]: Jalen Wattl had the corpse of two a tag of a lowest.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: So again, to me, apples and oranges, but maybe a topic for another day.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: That wasn't other tremendous installment of the

- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know one other thing here, and this is a great point for Mr. Producer, you can look if you're if you're going to compare Mike you're going to compare water and Franklin you can go all right.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let's compare through a recent sea blends What each guy did last year when you do that then you got it like Zach just mentioned take into account like quarterback play Situation old team offense this and that
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: maybe the better thing to do is compare each player's best NFL season for Troy Franklin.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: That was obviously last year, right?
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: That was only his second year, but it was also his best year with the 700 plus yards and the six touchdowns.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_01]: Water mean time.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_01]: His best year in the NFL, he's a 1400 yard receiver, eight touchdowns, average in 18 yards per catch.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's an
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: You just gotta you gotta make sure you're seeing there.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: Um, all right.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: We got Rock Sam Bownecks would take George Pickins under his wing like the Marcus where did with Vaughn Miller.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, I just don't think it's worth our time to get too caught up in the idea of of Pickins because the Cowboys are
- 55:09[SPEAKER_01]: keeping them around.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to tag him doesn't mean they couldn't tag in trade, but he's he's probably going to be there's a very good better chance than not Zack that he's a cowboy.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I'm not giving up multiple first round picks for George Pickins.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: I would sign him as a free agent if they didn't tag him, but I'm not giving up a picker or whatever multiple picks for him.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_02]: I would rather like we talked about earlier, a trade for AJ Brown, a second round pick, Garrett Wilson, Jaylin, Waterle, Chris O'Lavey, Draclan.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's a bunch of receivers
- 55:39[SPEAKER_01]: Gifting does the rock 20 MHH YouTube memberships to folks in the chat really cool brother.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much big dog.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're awesome.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: We love you contributing, taking ownership.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_01]: We really appreciate you brother.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: And like I've said before, one of these days, we're going to get you out to the to the meet and greet.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to happen.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, Zach the
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: Alt-Mire pick was the 7th round mock, so 7th round they were running to the podium type thing.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_01]: You'd be great as a 7th round developmental guy as a Sean Peyton quarterback.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_01]: I would like it.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: I would not hate it.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if he's there in the 7th, if he's there in the 6th, even, very interesting.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Pearl hope it's been a great day.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: Happy birthday to you, my friend.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I was trying to click on.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: Rock says this morning on Broncos for breakfast, Eric said the Broncos should trade, Jonathan Cooper during the draft.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's, you know, when it's a guy that has earned a second contract, Zach, and it's easy to kind of come to, want to come to his defense, so to speak, and just dismiss such notions out of hand.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_01]: but the truth is Cooper really faded second half of this last season.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like the Broncos got to figure out what the heck was going on there.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: He ended up finishing with some decent statistics, but it was a downier compared to his,
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: what I would call his breakout 2024 season, not on the same level as Nick Benito, but he finishes with eight sacks, Zack, and he was at eight sacks for a long time.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like he his his game log, 2025, he went, let me find the sacks here.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, there we go.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: in the last one, two, three, four, five, six, seven games, guys.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: Jonathan Cooper gave you exactly one half of a sack.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: And not only that, but he was constantly out of position as a russia, allowing a lot of past russia, allowing a lot of quarterback runs.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he wasn't holding up on the edge as a run defender.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_01]: So doesn't mean he's not salvageable.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean it wasn't just a little down period.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_01]: But the Broncos that are very strong at this position, you know, you got Ellis rockin' and rolling.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: So if you could get something for Cooper, you shed that salary as well and you have a ready-made starter.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, who knows?
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: We could also create an opportunity for bond to come back.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't hate it.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't hate it, but I'd be surprised if I saw it.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_02]: I would have to know what I'm getting back for Cooper if it's going to be like a fourth round pick.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's not worth it.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: You're creating another hole on defense that you could fill with either Ellis or Don Drake Tellman.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know if they're ready.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_02]: If the coaching staff deems them ready, then I could see them moving off of him.
