Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: The question you should be asking yourself is how can I make it feel small and keep what people love about a small youth group?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Keep the energy of the big youth group and the intimacy of the small youth group.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: As a larger youth ministry, what can you learn from a smaller one?
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: That's what we're talking about today on the Ministry Coach podcast.
- 0:30SPEAKER_03: Welcome to the Ministry Coach Podcast, where we bring you weekly tips and tactics to help you fast track the growth and health of your youth ministry.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: My name is Jeff Lascola, and this is Kristen Lascola.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And today we are doing the reversal of last week's episode.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: So last week it was what can small youth groups learn from big youth groups?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And this week is what can big youth groups learn from small youth groups?
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And just to remind you, the voice that this is in is I'm kind of talking to myself when I was small and versus when I was big.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And what can I learn from myself in each of those stages of ministry?
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Like, what would I not want to forget?
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So now we're a larger youth group.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And like little youth group Kristen, what would she say to the me now?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and if some of it resonates with you, awesome.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And the reason I say that is because it's you can't just paint with a broad brush of like every big youth group does this or every small youth group does this.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: You may not resonate with that.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Like it might not be.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: But if it does, and if it is helpful, um you're welcome.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So, number one, uh, this is something I learned from a pastor who was kind of like our executive pastor for a long time, and now he's sort of our staff leadership consultant.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And he would always say to us, leaders like it big, but people like it small.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, that's really true because leaders love to like look out and see this sea of people and feel that energy, and there's so many people here.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Wow, feels so cool.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: But people tend to like that small feel.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And here's, I think, actually, if we excavate that a little bit further, it's not that people like it super small.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: People just like to be known and not get lost in a sea of people.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Because the truth is, I think people like some of the energy of big.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Not massive like Disneyland nauseatingly big, like lines, congestion, people everywhere.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: But I think the energy of big, like if you've ever done worship with like 200 people, it's so cool or more.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: If you've ever like played a game and it's been like epic, big and big teams and competition, it's fun.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: The energy is fun, but nobody wants to get lost there.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And that's why people like it small, right?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: So the question you should be asking yourself is if you're a larger youth ministry, how can I not make my youth group small?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: It's not like you're gonna start kicking people out, but how can I make it feel small and keep what people love about a small youth group?
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Keep the energy of the big youth group in the intimacy of the small youth group.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And that's a really big challenge, you know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: The larger you're you get, it just sort of seems like the intimacy and that everyone knowing each other thing kind of gets diluted.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: It's not quite the same.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So, how can you do this?
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Well, small groups, obviously, don't neglect small groups because then at least at some point in the night, someone's name was said by someone significant, a leader.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: So having highly invested, involved adult leaders who are going to meet with the same small group every single week, the same seven to 12 students and look at them, know them, and they get a voice.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: They get to share, they get to be heard.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Cause it's kind of like just that buzzkill.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: If you go to church or a youth group and you were just participating the whole night, but nobody knew whether you came or went.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Like you didn't even get to speak an opinion or be heard by anyone in leadership, or you were just a face in the crowd from start to finish.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know that that's an authentic church experience.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And I think that's why people are like big church, like it gets a lot of criticism because I don't know that you're meant to be totally anonymous.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And the larger you are, that can be a real danger unless the leaders are being super intentional with their students and stay personal, like you, specifically as a youth pastor.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Like remain accessible, remain approachable.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Don't be that person that's unreachable because, well, I just do the teaching and the vision casting.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Like small youth group pastors are approachable, reachable, and not because they're not busy.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: It's because like they're close to the ground, like where everyone is.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So don't imagine yourself like, hey, like I'm like up here now.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Like, if you guys could take care of like the new people, that'd be great.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Like, don't fall into the trap of making yourself inaccessible just because you're big.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: I've seen that happen.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: That's one thing I love about our senior pastors is they get off the stage and they go right into the plaza.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: And yeah, they do get approached by a ton of people.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: They're people, they are their congregants.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: You're not some famous speaker celebrity, you're a pastor.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So you have to be with the people that you pastor.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: So don't start to get this like, oh, they can handle that stuff, the relationship stuff.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm like in the office doing things, making stuff happen.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: No, you're not too busy and you're not too important for people.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: So don't act like you are.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Because if you are, then ask yourself, what do I do for a living?
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I'm an event coordinator, I'm a famous speaker, and I know you're a pastor.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: So I think even when you get large, you should continue to act like it, right?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Number two, depend on God more.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: So I think this is what I would say to little youth group me.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: I remember praying just that kids would show up.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Like I would be like, God, like I'm going to be devastated if we do this whole youth group or this whole event or this whole camp and nobody comes, nobody signs up, nobody participates.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And I would just beg God for just people to show up.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Like that's the state of vulnerability I was in.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: That it was like, I planned it, I prepared the horse for battle, but like, where are these people coming from?
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And maybe you resonate with that of like having to ask God for the smallest things in that stage of ministry because you don't have that security of like they'll be here, you know, of course they will.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: It's like, I don't know, maybe they will, maybe they won't.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: Um that dependence on God, you know, totally instead of just it's it's assumed.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: It's assumed.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: And like at this stage in my ministry, I'm not gonna say I'm gonna feign this, God, please let at least one kid show up.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: That would be false humility.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Like, I know we will have students show up.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: But then I have to ask myself, okay, so where have I gotten too dependent on my own gifts?
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Do I feel like I need to pray before I speak?
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Or am I too comfortable?
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: I got this.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Like it's easy peasy.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Or before you have a difficult conversation with someone, or just praying over the night that the Holy Spirit shows up and does an amazing work in your students.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Like, don't let one of our senior pastors says something like, When you work at the altar, the altar isn't like special anymore.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Like it's like, yeah, we work in the temple, like, you know, like it's just the temple.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: It's not, we lose this, like, ooh, okay, this awe, this reverence, this I need God to show up.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: And he asks us a question that his mentor asked him if the Holy Spirit were to leave your ministry, how long would it take you to notice?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: And he said, when someone asked him that question, he was like, Never, like I would never notice because I was riding high on my own gifting.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: I'm an excellent teacher.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: I'm excellent with relationships.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I have the energy to carry this thing just on my gifting.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: I don't really need the Holy Spirit.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And then he was like, Oh my gosh, like, ah, I'm in a dangerous, dangerous territory here.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: And I wonder if that territory, we we don't go there intentionally as a destination, but we slowly kind of creep that way of like, I've done this so many times, they always show up, my my talks always land, small groups always go well.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: But where are you depending on the Holy Spirit?
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Where are you depending on God?
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Because our own gifts only take us so far, and they're also a recipe for burnout, too.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: It's just all your own strength because you can do that as long as things are going well.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: But the moment things aren't, you realize how fragile your gifts really were.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: It's like they can be like take you out like that, right?
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: And then number three, remember the value of the individual in your ministry, not the group.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: It's a little bit what we were talking about before, but I wanted to specify like you, as the pastor, still need to get excited about a new family, like a new student.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: What are you doing to get them connected and assimilated?
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Do you follow up with them?
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Like, I remember if I'd have a new student, it was so exciting.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: I would like send the parent an email and say, Hey, like it was so great having Jake.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Like, I hope he had a good time.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Like, would love to hear about his experience or anything we can do to make him feel comfortable.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: And, you know, we look forward to seeing you guys again.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Like they would get this personal email from me.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: And that's something that I struggle to keep up with now because like we get new students a lot, and I don't even know.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I hate that I have to say this.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: I don't even know who's new and who's not sometimes.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Like, just because I haven't met you doesn't mean you're new.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Like, I've made that mistake a million times.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, what's your name?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Julie, oh, cool.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Like, is this your first time here?
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: No, I've been coming for a month.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yeah, well, I'm bummed our paths never crossed.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: You know, where I used to be able to just see that individual very blatantly obvious.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: And not that, again, I'm not gonna start kicking people out to recreate that, but it does remind me of like, hey, am I putting in just as much effort with a new family so they know it's like, uh, our family is just a drop in the bucket here.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Like, you don't get any personal care, you don't get any personal contact or personal concern from the pastor.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: They just kind of put you into the machine and you're like, all right, fill this out, scan this QR code, all right, and then we do this, this, and this.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Or are you going out of your way to be that the word that comes to my mind is the spiritual concierge of just like, I'm here, you know, to make sure your family knows exactly how to be connected and how can I help or how can I pray for you?
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: How can we partner on this?
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: What how can I resource you?
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And that does take more time and intention the larger you get.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: So asking yourself, at my size currently, how can I do that in a sustainable way?
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: How does what is and normally what ends up happening is it has to go to a system, right?
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, I need like some way that the attendants can show me who is new, and then I reach out to those people every Wednesday afternoon and set aside time for that.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Like you're probably gonna have to systematize it somehow, if depending on how large you are, because otherwise it you'll drown in in that, you know.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: But how what does it look like?
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: And that's the thing.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: I sometimes when I coach youth pastors, they are very good at finding reasons why they can't do something, myself included.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: It's like, all right, we need to welcome new people.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Well, I can't because and it's just like end of the story.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: It's like, well, you can, just not under the current system or under the current thinking.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: But I heard this great quote this week.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: This girl said, everything is figure out.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And she's like, and that changed my life.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: She's like, my mom used to like just grab a screwdriver and start fixing things.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Or breaking either way.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Well, that's how you learn, right?
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: True.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: And she would be like, Mom, how do you know how to do this or change that?
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Or she goes, I don't.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: YouTube.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Like you find the answer.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Everything is figure out.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: If if a guy, you know, who does this for a living learned it, I can learn it.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: Well, sometimes the figure outable is finding the right person to figure it out.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: But you may find your limitations and say, I'm not really good at this, but this person on my team is an idea.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: I'm not good at climbing up in a ladder and getting bins down from the top shelf of our youth room.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: Few people are.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Caleb is good at that.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: He can climb.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: So it's yeah, but all that to say, the answer isn't I can't, or we can't.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, you're you can find a million reasons why you can't do that.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: Asking the question, how can we?
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: Not pointing out the reasons how we can't.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: To add to this, it makes me think of like it's a unique opportunity for larger youth ministries to personalize something and make it impactful.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: People almost expect it to be a little bit more personal if it's smaller.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: And they expect it to be less personal when it's larger.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: But if you can put in the extra mile to make it more personal, it's like if you went to a big box kind of store, but you got really personal service, or maybe somebody you came back later and they remembered your name.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: It's you wouldn't ex you wouldn't be surprised by that if it was a small establishment.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: But a big one, you're like, oh my gosh, you remembered me.
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: So I feel like it's a great opportunity, you know, to take advantage of.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: And it kind of makes you stand apart, right?
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Like it's like it's a big youth group or a big church, yet I don't feel the typical experience that you would expect.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Like that's the best of both worlds for me.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: You know, a church big enough to have an energy, but small enough to feel like you're known and cared for.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Hey, quick question for you.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Have you ever felt like you were working really hard in your youth ministry every week, but you don't know what the next step is or how to grow your youth ministry?
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: Well, you are not alone.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: And that is exactly why we created our course and coaching program called Youth Ministry Growth Accelerator.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Inside the program, we're gonna walk you step by step through strategies, systems, leadership principles that help ministries grow, both in size and in health.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: This isn't just theory, it's the exact framework we've used and taught to youth pastors all over the country and even globally.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: In addition to the course and coaching, you will also have the opportunity to join a cohort community where you can meet with other youth leaders who are on the same journey to encourage each other, share ideas, and stay accountable as you put things into practice.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: So if you're looking for a clearer path to grow your ministry, head over to grow your youth ministry.com to see everything that's included.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Once again, that's growyouryout ministry.com.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: All right, let's get back to the episode.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, and number four, and finally, this one's really hard for me, I'll admit, be willing to go off script when needed.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Not late.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I will never bend on that.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Not late when you're working with students.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Respect their parents and respect their time, especially on a school night.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: However, sometimes smaller youth groups have this ability to pivot and go off script really easily, meaning things like, you know, we're just really feeling the spirit tonight.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Let's go an extra worship song.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Let's just do it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: The kids are asking for it.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Well, that's gonna cut in.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Well, we'll cut something somewhere else, but let's just be in this moment, like and throw program out the window for a second and just say this this is what our kids need right now.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's do it.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: You know, another song again being responsible with time.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Like if they're in college, I don't think you have to.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: I think you can go all night and be able to do that.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: And they probably wouldn't want to, they probably just woke up a few hours before the service even started.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And they can leave when they want, they have cars and they're over 18.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: When you're working with students, no, you have to like be a little more tight.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: But doing what's best for the group in the moment, I think if you can make that that priority, even if it conflicts with your original plan.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: Like when we were coming home from our summer camp, last minute I changed something that was way better for our drivers, way better for our students, way better for the parents because of timing and stuff.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: And it was off script on our schedule.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: It said we're doing this.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And I had to kind of huddle everyone up and say, Hey, we're going through LA right now.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Here's what I think we need to do.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: We need to divide and conquer this thing.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Here's the plan, here's the roadmap, here's the resources to do it.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Like we've got to go off script.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be better for our group.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Now, if I'm a little youth group, all I do is decide and I'm in the car, right?
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I'm like, we're not going here, we're going there.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: And we're all turning left.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but when you're a caravan of 15 cars and 120 people, you can't make decisions on a dime like that.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: So you have to find where you can wiggle if it's better for the group.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: If it's like there was a night at camp where the students were like, can we just keep worshiping like more songs, more songs, and more songs?
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: Or at camp, we don't have anywhere to be.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: So sure, why not?
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: You know, until my worship leader was like, No, I've had enough.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Like my voice is dying.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: I've been whitewater rafting all day.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: But be willing to pivot and go off script when you can and just kind of sense what your group needs, whether that's spiritually, whether that's physically, whether that's programmatically, like you might have to just be okay, making a decision in the moment of like, ah, this is actually better for my group.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: And it's great leadership to be able to turn that in the moment if you can.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Now, I say that with an asterisk, like, if it's gonna cause incredible chaos, then save it for another time.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Like, you don't want to cost yourself a lot of chips with your team of like, ah, I know we had a plan, but here's what I'm feeling in this moment right now.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: But you have to make a leadership decision.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Is this better for my group?
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: And I'm just not willing to do it because it's gonna be easier to do the other thing.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: And sometimes it just depends.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: You might have to be like, ah, that's a good plan for next time.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: It's too late to change, or you might have to just turn the ship a little bit and be like, we can make this last minute change and it's gonna be worth it.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: So yeah, just hold your plan loosely, I guess to say, we always say at our church, plan and pencil, because you never you don't want to be so married to a plan that you miss an opportunity um in front of you.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: That's really that would be better for everybody.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: And this is more actually directed towards students, but it's something that you can pitch to them.
- 19:56SPEAKER_03: But the once someone once told me the best way to make a big church feel smaller is to get involved, like is to serve.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: If to you something you can encourage your students if they feel this like giant youth group, get involved in student leadership, and that's a great way to meet more people you're within the student leadership team and then also other students.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: But yeah, it's a great way to just shrink things because you're starting to get to know people one by one instead of just being like, oh my gosh, there's 300 people here.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: I don't know anybody, and how could I, you know?
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Or like, how do I even get in the door like to meet leaders or other students?
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, student leadership.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: Man, I wish I really regret not doing that when I was in junior high.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: It was available.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: I just feel like I was like asleep.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I feel like all these opportunities, like I didn't lock in, I didn't know what they were talking about.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Like, join the salt team.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: I'm like, what in the heck?
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: Like, I just feel like Were you not paying attention or did they not do a good job of selling it?
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: No, because other people knew, you know, like I remember my friend at school, she's like, Oh, I have a salt meeting.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: I'm like, what's salt?
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: She's like, the leadership team at church.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I'm like, what?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Like, I just felt like I was so kind of I don't know.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Maybe I was just like worried about my friends.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, were your friends not doing it, and therefore it means I'm not doing it.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: I just wanted to.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Where are my friends?
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Where are the boys?
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And what are we doing?
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: What am I wearing to youth group?
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Do I have a lip gloss on?
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: You know, I look cute.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Salt schmalt.
- 21:27SPEAKER_03: Pretty much.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: Let's do a community comment of the day.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: This comes from Trevor1, which I think is Trevor One, says, Kristen and Jeff, you're both amazing.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: I love how you bring your experience to the table to help anybody working in youth ministry.
- 21:42SPEAKER_03: As an intern slash leader who works closely with the pastor for programs, camps, and events, you guys provide such great ideas and perspective we need.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: Thank you both for all you do.
- 21:53SPEAKER_03: Also, with how much you talk about them, it seems like your team is awesome.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, is this Trevor?
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Is this my Trevor?
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Because I have a Trevor.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: Or is it really Trevor?
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Retriever.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Um either way, thank you.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: If you are Trevor Robert Warren, blink twice.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Twice.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: He's one of my interns leaders, ministry partners.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: So that sounds like something he would say.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: Well, thank you.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Unless there's a really other nice trever out there, but I don't know.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Obsessed.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: I'm suspicious.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: That was an inside guy.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Delete that.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: It doesn't count.
- 22:34SPEAKER_03: Thank you, Trevor.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: And thank you guys for watching and listening.

- 22:38SPEAKER_03: Welcome to the Ministry Coach podcast where we bring you weekly tips and tactics textiles.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: What do students really want from your youth ministry?
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: And are you offering them that?
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Offering these things.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I was close there.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And then what do I said, what do what do I else?
