- 0:32Speaker 2: phd the draft score of the draft score the draft
- 0:37Speaker 2: score of the draft score i don't even know what
- 0:39Speaker 2: i call you But he almost did a thing one time.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Almost.
- 0:46Speaker 2: And now he's just... I don't even know what we
- 0:48Speaker 2: call you. Suckscore?
- 0:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he really put together a team here, man.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Woof.
- 0:57Speaker 3: We're woofing it. We're woofing that Ewok, asshole.
- 1:01Speaker 2: The one guy I remember. The Minnesota Deuce. Everybody give
- 1:06Speaker 2: it up for Ewok Jr.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Hello, Key Forge community. Glad to be here. And Drafts,
- 1:13Speaker 4: I think that is not just your own sentiment, but
- 1:15Speaker 4: that seems to be everyone's sentiment towards me today. So
- 1:17Speaker 4: I'm just loved by everyone.
- 1:19Speaker 2: You're the choke show. That's what you are. You're the
- 1:22Speaker 2: choke show. Drafts score of the drafts score. Guy who
- 1:28Speaker 2: almost did a thing that one time.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Oh, something.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Something, something did a thing. Almost did something cool. And
- 1:37Speaker 2: then didn't. But these boys got a lot to go over.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Let's see. I got on my notes here. First up, ABR.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Drazkor team sucks to sheep.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 3: So, you know, ABR started. Yeah. Sheep and Drazkor teams
- 1:58Speaker 3: were matched up.
- 2:00Speaker 5: They made me be a captain.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Were you not a previously a captain?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh, I thought you were for some reason. I know
- 2:10Speaker 2: Drazcore was. Drazcore was.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been a very, very regular captain.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I still think that this should all be aired live
- 2:19Speaker 2: on YouTube. Oh, man. It'd be so great. Maybe just
- 2:22Speaker 2: the first few rounds. Maybe it's like the NFL draft, right?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Where it's just the first two rounds, and then nobody
- 2:28Speaker 2: else cares about the rest, so we don't even televise them.
- 2:32Speaker 3: There's got to be, like, speeches and stuff, right? No,
- 2:36Speaker 3: there's no speeches.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You just put, like, a cute little chime in the bed.
- 2:40Speaker 4: With the first pick of the 2027 ABR draft.
- 2:48Speaker 5: X-Ray's too sensitive to see where he gets drafted, so
- 2:53Speaker 5: this is why. He would cry.
- 2:56Speaker 2: The Texans sensitive?
- 2:57Speaker 3: What? I don't believe in all this. I thought I
- 3:03Speaker 3: could get him in round eight, but, you know, I
- 3:06Speaker 3: was like, maybe I'll ground him in seven. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 3: just keep charity.
- 3:10Speaker 5: I was going to take him in seven, but Draz
- 3:14Speaker 5: picks one round, or one pick before me on the
- 3:16Speaker 5: odd rounds.
- 3:17Speaker 3: No, no, no. Worked out.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Worked out.
- 3:23Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter, because he sucks to sheep.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Yeah, he sure did. I... So my draft strategy, though,
- 3:33Speaker 5: is showing up this week.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Isn't your draft strategy just pick people with large deck counts?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Quite the library of decks? Oh, okay.
- 3:47Speaker 5: But because there were multiple donkey measure weeks, I picked
- 3:52Speaker 5: people I knew had some donkey measure decks.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Drazkor's got $ 2, 000 worth of donkey measures.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Well, I can't pick Drazkor, can I?
- 4:04Speaker 3: Most of it's unopened.
- 4:05Speaker 2: How did you not win Drazkor?
- 4:07Speaker 4: Come on. Draz, this is why our team is having issues, Draz.
- 4:13Speaker 5: And my strategy worked very well last week when we
- 4:16Speaker 5: were playing DM decks. And this week, while we're playing Archon,
- 4:20Speaker 5: so far, we haven't got a single win. So, we're
- 4:25Speaker 5: getting our teeth kicked in this week.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Are they not donkey measure decks this week?
- 4:30Speaker 5: No, no, this is just open Archon.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Oh.
- 4:33Speaker 5: So, we're playing all kinds of stuff, and my opponent's
- 4:37Speaker 5: team has Harm, so I think they're all just playing
- 4:39Speaker 5: Harm's monster PV decks, and they're killing us. It's brutal.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Weird how all the monster PV decks showed up overseas.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I'm just saying.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I mean, there's a bunch around. So we actually did
- 4:57Speaker 3: what a number of teams did, and we have a
- 5:00Speaker 3: gentleman's agreement with the other team. No PV. So... I
- 5:07Speaker 3: offered that, and we got denied. Yeah, yeah, we.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Ewok's like, but I put in a PV deck.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Does that mean I all lose?
- 5:19Speaker 3: I may have... Yeah, I may have had to We
- 5:23Speaker 3: talked about it. The majority of the team wanted to
- 5:26Speaker 3: do it. There was a couple of folks who were....
- 5:30Speaker 5: You're not the only team. Hobo and whoever he's playing against?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Well, that's us.
- 5:36Speaker 5: There's another team also. Mm-hmm.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I didn't really cast a vote. I was fine with it.
- 5:46Speaker 5: Of course, you guys are fools for walking into no
- 5:50Speaker 5: PB against hobo. Maybe.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Are you just up for making bad decisions?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Probably.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I may be drinking right now. Okay.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Didn't you just get home from work?
- 6:07Speaker 3: I did. I gotta get started.
- 6:10Speaker 2: You gotta get started?
- 6:13Speaker 3: Sorry, guys.
- 6:15Speaker 5: He's been drinking since he left work.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I was going to say, you're slurring before the first drink.
- 6:19Speaker 5: 25 minutes on the road, and he's had his drink going.
- 6:24Speaker 4: You know, I really did miss that episode where we
- 6:27Speaker 4: could hear you on the road.
- 6:29Speaker 3: And you're just going.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Your mic did the same thing when you were on
- 6:33Speaker 2: the road.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Oh, no, 100%.
- 6:35Speaker 4: And this is how committed we are, but it did.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Make me laugh.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Well, I'd just like to say, I think it's been
- 6:43Speaker 2: a whole month since we've actually sat down to record,
- 6:49Speaker 2: which is bizarre for us, and still no news. Not
- 6:53Speaker 2: a single bit of news.
- 6:56Speaker 4: What news do you want? Do you want... Well, I mean....
- 7:06Speaker 3: The summer, it is September.
- 7:10Speaker 5: It's now the fall event. It's been the fall event
- 7:14Speaker 5: the last couple years.
- 7:15Speaker 2: There's only been two events, Sheep. You can't say the
- 7:19Speaker 2: past couple years. We've only had two storyline events.
- 7:23Speaker 5: It's the fall event. Everything's fine.
- 7:27Speaker 2: We haven't heard anything about this year's fall event.
- 7:29Speaker 3: There better be one.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Also, we were supposed to have a sweet.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember, we were supposed to
- 7:35Speaker 2: have a sweet discovery event with new keys and whatnot
- 7:39Speaker 2: that you're supposed to get.
- 7:40Speaker 5: That's for next year, too.
- 7:42Speaker 4: It's going to be great. It's going to be great.
- 7:44Speaker 2: We just got to push it out.
- 7:45Speaker 5: I mean, after June, they're like, no point in this year.
- 7:49Speaker 5: I'm also just waiting until next year. It just makes sense.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Got it. And then after 2027, they're like, ah, we
- 7:55Speaker 2: didn't get it out. We'll just go to 2028.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Well, then they'll just. somehow make keys important to Hellbreak
- 8:01Speaker 5: and just send the keys over there.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Now, Wookie, you're also going to want recaps of all
- 8:07Speaker 4: these vaults, too.
- 8:08Speaker 2: What vaults? Are vaults happening? I wouldn't know because there's
- 8:11Speaker 2: no articles about them.
- 8:12Speaker 5: You wouldn't know because you don't go to any of them.
- 8:15Speaker 4: You don't even shop for logos.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I went to St. Louis. What are you talking about?
- 8:18Speaker 5: That's a long ago nobody remembers.
- 8:21Speaker 2: That was like two years ago. Like two months ago. Yeah,
- 8:27Speaker 2: I mean, not all of us can go to Vietnam.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I'm trying to make my way down to Tennessee. I
- 8:32Speaker 2: don't know if I'll make it there either.
- 8:35Speaker 3: You can. It's going to be awesome.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I'm going to try. I'm trying. I'm trying. But I
- 8:39Speaker 2: might just have to work my way up into something
- 8:45Speaker 2: at the KFC. I did, however. I've been working hard, guys.
- 8:48Speaker 2: You'll be proud of me. I have done more. marketing
- 8:54Speaker 2: for GG than GG has done for themselves. I don't
- 8:57Speaker 2: know if you guys have noticed. I even posted it
- 9:00Speaker 2: for old dad gamers. Even sheep could find it, right?
- 9:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 2: So, I mean, man. I've been doing a lot of
- 9:11Speaker 2: work while you guys were gone. I even got some
- 9:15Speaker 2: fun stuff. I decided that the past couple years I
- 9:18Speaker 2: said I was going to vlog KFC and then never did.
- 9:21Speaker 2: This year, I'm going to do it. I've got stuff.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It's here. It's going to happen. We're going to vlog it.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I have a feeling there's going to be a lot
- 9:30Speaker 2: left on the cutting room floor. But, you know, reasons.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I'm excited, too. So, got a lot of good stuff
- 9:43Speaker 2: coming up.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Can we vlog your snoring? Sure.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that is what.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Traskor, you start just as bad as I do. No.
- 9:53Speaker 3: He's 27% less. Oh, yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 4: It's like.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I'm glad we somehow quantified this.
- 10:02Speaker 5: It doesn't matter.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Got it.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'm glad we somehow quantified this. But you guys went
- 10:09Speaker 2: to a vault tour that was in a land far,
- 10:11Speaker 2: far away. Some would call it mythical. The land of Vietnam.
- 10:16Speaker 2: You all went to Vietnam.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I did go to a uh pokemon air i think
- 10:21Speaker 3: um the uh yeah the flu ama which uh like
- 10:28Speaker 3: all the you know how like um you know what
- 10:32Speaker 3: comes on the screen and it's like this is how
- 10:34Speaker 3: you get the fuck out of the airplane it's blowing
- 10:36Speaker 3: up right uh except imagine pokemon are telling you how
- 10:41Speaker 3: to do this right uh and you didn't.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Take a video.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Oh, no, that's the standard ANA. Like, buckle up. It's amazing.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Pokemon everywhere.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'll take a picture. I don't know.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I'd be kind of interested in watching that.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I'm sure you can find it by ANA safety video.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Oh, I never thought about that. I'm old. I don't
- 11:11Speaker 2: know how YouTube works.
- 11:15Speaker 3: There we go.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I'm like sheep.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I'll put her in the chat-a-roo.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Let's see. I don't know what YouTube is. Oh my.
- 11:24Speaker 3: There you go. There's that flying owl thing with a
- 11:29Speaker 3: bow tie. That's what Pokemon need. Here's the lever you
- 11:35Speaker 3: pull when you need to escape the airplane. Like over
- 11:40Speaker 3: the wing. Rip this thing out and the door pops out. Thanks,
- 11:43Speaker 3: Pokemon friend. Nice. Got like a little circle and everything.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Where that.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Says the Pokemon with no arms. Just rip the slug.
- 11:57Speaker 4: Well, that Pokemon can fly, so it's fine. Got it.
- 12:02Speaker 3: It's just you who's screwed. Understood. Totally got it. I
- 12:04Speaker 3: got it. So you have Pokemon tell you how to
- 12:12Speaker 3: escape a burning airplane. And then when you land at
- 12:15Speaker 3: the airport, they put this really weird one on a
- 12:17Speaker 3: loop that's like this woman who loses her Pikachu in
- 12:22Speaker 3: the airport. I guess it's a child or something. Then, like,
- 12:27Speaker 3: I don't know, this whole thing about everybody's looking for
- 12:29Speaker 3: the Pikachu, and then finally, like, they find the Pikachu,
- 12:33Speaker 3: and they go to reunite it with the woman, and it, like,
- 12:35Speaker 3: jumps towards her, but it's definitely one of those things
- 12:38Speaker 3: where it's like, this is totally how his, like, jump
- 12:41Speaker 3: attack looks, and they cut away, and I'm like, oh,
- 12:43Speaker 3: he totally murders her. And they just cut away from it, like,
- 12:48Speaker 3: it's like, I'm not controlled by you anymore! Pikachu! And
- 12:52Speaker 3: then and then it starts over. So it's like it's
- 12:56Speaker 3: really her horror story of losing her child and then
- 12:59Speaker 3: her child murders her. And it just plays on a loop.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And for some reason, we have to watch that while
- 13:04Speaker 3: we're waiting to.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I kind of thought it had something to do with
- 13:07Speaker 2: like a missing child.
- 13:09Speaker 3: That is, I think that's what it's going for.
- 13:11Speaker 4: It's supposed to be, yes.
- 13:12Speaker 2: But then if it's a missing child, then murders the parent.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Never mind.
- 13:17Speaker 5: But anyway.
- 13:18Speaker 3: That's what I like. Like that leaping attack where like,
- 13:21Speaker 3: you know, and then like the bolts of lightning is
- 13:23Speaker 3: going to come. It looks just like that, but like
- 13:25Speaker 3: cuts away right before the killing blow, you know.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Pikachu quick attack.
- 13:30Speaker 4: So I will say airplane food on the first time over,
- 13:35Speaker 4: like A & A' s got some good food for nice travel.
- 13:40Speaker 4: That being said, I was supposed to be out a
- 13:44Speaker 4: full day before Drazkor was going to get there. And
- 13:49Speaker 4: Sheep was coming in Friday night.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Right, Sheep?
- 13:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Real late. Saturday morning, really.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Well, the good news, I made it in time for
- 14:01Speaker 4: my event. The bad news, I lost the day. See,
- 14:06Speaker 4: I left Milwaukee at 6 in the morning. I left
- 14:12Speaker 4: Chicago at 12.15. So, basically noon. We made it all
- 14:19Speaker 4: the way past Alaska. And then all of a sudden.
- 14:26Speaker 4: I just had this odd feeling that I should go
- 14:27Speaker 4: check the camera to see where the plane was. And
- 14:31Speaker 4: our plane was pulling a Yui. Yeah, that's not a
- 14:36Speaker 4: good thing, guys.
- 14:37Speaker 3: No.
- 14:39Speaker 4: So, 20 minutes later, after.
- 14:41Speaker 5: I mean, it's better than being dead in the ocean.
- 14:44Speaker 5: I'd take it.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Well, yeah. But you.
- 14:46Speaker 4: But when you see your plane turn around and you
- 14:49Speaker 4: don't have any information, that's a little alarming. And it
- 14:54Speaker 4: wasn't just me. There were a couple of us that
- 14:56Speaker 4: started to go ahead and check it. And you're like,
- 14:59Speaker 4: what is happening? Pilot came on and said, yep, we
- 15:03Speaker 4: had de-icing issues. And we were four and a half
- 15:09Speaker 4: hours away from Tokyo.
- 15:10Speaker 3: But instead.
- 15:16Speaker 4: We were going to go ahead and go four hours
- 15:19Speaker 4: and 40 minutes back to San Francisco. So I got
- 15:24Speaker 4: to be on a plane for 13 hours to then
- 15:29Speaker 4: have to get rerouted in the morning. And I got
- 15:32Speaker 4: to do it again the next day. So seeing Pikachu and, uh,
- 15:35Speaker 4: the Pokemon, uh, multiple days in a row made it
- 15:39Speaker 4: all the way. It, no, no, it just made it better.
- 15:42Speaker 4: I don't know what else to say. Um, so the,
- 15:46Speaker 4: That was a bit of a bummer to start, but
- 15:47Speaker 4: once we got there, oh, amazing, amazing, amazing trip. And
- 15:51Speaker 4: I met up with Draz in Tokyo, and it was
- 15:53Speaker 4: the best to see him and his family. It made
- 15:55Speaker 4: my day. Mm-hmm.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Up until that point, Draz, I... Well, because I hadn't
- 16:04Speaker 4: seen anyone, basically, for 24 hours that I actually knew. And,
- 16:09Speaker 4: you know, there were a couple people that spoke English
- 16:12Speaker 4: and I could be able to talk with, but... It
- 16:15Speaker 4: is different when you are traveling and you don't speak
- 16:17Speaker 4: a language or read the language that's there. But it
- 16:22Speaker 4: was good to see, Drez.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yep, yep.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Nobody told you about Google Translate?
- 16:30Speaker 4: So, interesting. Yes, I use Google Translate, and things do
- 16:34Speaker 4: not translate as clearly as one would think.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it makes sense.
- 16:41Speaker 3: There's some truth to this. We should actually talk about
- 16:43Speaker 3: some Key Forge cards a little later.
- 16:48Speaker 4: We got there.
- 16:52Speaker 3: They did get to hang out in Tokyo, like the airport,
- 16:55Speaker 3: and buy all sorts of weird snacks from 7-Eleven, which
- 17:02Speaker 3: was mobbed. Japanese love 7-Eleven. Got some really weird Kit Kats.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I got sake flavored Kit Kats. Those were strange. My
- 17:19Speaker 3: kids are like, these are gross. I don't know if
- 17:24Speaker 3: you're wrong, but they're interesting. I'll just have to go
- 17:31Speaker 3: back to Japan and have some more. Yes.
- 17:34Speaker 4: But once we made it there, we got to use
- 17:36Speaker 4: their grab. So they don't have Uber, but we got
- 17:38Speaker 4: to grab and go to our hotel. And we basically
- 17:42Speaker 4: jammed Drez's children in the back seat because this was
- 17:47Speaker 4: the big multi-seater for six people.
- 17:55Speaker 2: It was a.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a three-row SUV where the third row means
- 18:00Speaker 5: there's no space for luggage.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Uh-huh, uh-huh. I can take four we're like we ordered
- 18:08Speaker 3: a six person and he like looked surprised that we
- 18:10Speaker 3: had luggage.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I don't know well and it was kind of an
- 18:14Speaker 4: experience when we rolled in at roughly 11 at night
- 18:17Speaker 4: we had gone through customs it's now 12 and we're
- 18:21Speaker 4: trying to locate this one dude in a foreign country
- 18:25Speaker 4: it was fun it was amazing but we got some
- 18:28Speaker 4: monies we made it to the hotel we were very
- 18:30Speaker 4: happy And then everyone kind of crashed. We got up
- 18:34Speaker 4: Friday morning. Drez, you and I got a chance to
- 18:37Speaker 4: play in Alliance. There were 39 players that showed up
- 18:42Speaker 4: for the vaults. What did you think of the space
- 18:45Speaker 4: and kind of where we were at?
- 18:46Speaker 1: It was cool.
- 18:47Speaker 3: So I was on the top floor of the hotel.
- 18:51Speaker 3: So just a short elevator ride up with, by the way,
- 18:55Speaker 3: that elevator, that music, very catchy. I think I still
- 18:59Speaker 3: have it.
- 19:00Speaker 4: It is still stuck in my head.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yep. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So like very, very cheerful,
- 19:05Speaker 3: upbeat elevator music. The tiny, tiny elevator, by the way.
- 19:12Speaker 4: You had two tiny elevators to pick from.
- 19:17Speaker 3: This is true. You could go main. You could go
- 19:22Speaker 3: wide tiny or narrow tiny. Both tiny.
- 19:26Speaker 5: One that fits four Americans and one that fits two Americans.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Like hot dog and hamburger shaped elevators. So yeah. You
- 19:39Speaker 3: have those tiny little elevators which you take up to
- 19:42Speaker 3: get your breakfast and then up to go to the event.
- 19:48Speaker 3: But the breakfast in place was actually pretty awesome. They
- 19:54Speaker 3: had some pretty good Vietnamese food and then, you know,
- 19:59Speaker 3: just like bacon and stuff for Americans.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Their bacon was awful.
- 20:04Speaker 3: It was fine, but that wasn't what I was there for. Um... Uh,
- 20:09Speaker 3: the like dailies had like different steamed buns in the morning. Um,
- 20:14Speaker 3: those are really good. And, uh, all sorts of different, uh,
- 20:20Speaker 3: fruits and all this. So it was, uh, it was tasty.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Good breakfast there. I agree.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 4: So we roll in, we get a chance to go
- 20:32Speaker 4: ahead and see 39 players. We come across the world.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Super excited.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Draz, did you create your own alliance deck?
- 20:42Speaker 3: No. In fact, when we got there, I was handed
- 20:46Speaker 3: my alliance deck that I had ordered for myself because
- 20:51Speaker 3: I was like, actually, somebody reached out to me. It
- 20:55Speaker 3: was actually Vargas. Vargas reached out to me. He's like, hey,
- 20:57Speaker 3: you're going to Vietnam. I want my Vietnam decks played.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Do you want to play one of these Archon decks?
- 21:02Speaker 3: I was like, I don't know. And he's like, well,
- 21:06Speaker 3: what about an alliance deck? I was like, oh, I
- 21:08Speaker 3: forgot I need that. So I was like, yeah, sure.
- 21:12Speaker 3: So I played just some like PV bullshit. And so
- 21:17Speaker 3: I get handed the deck, right? Liquid Squash hands me
- 21:21Speaker 3: the deck. And we go and like have to register it.
- 21:30Speaker 3: And they're like, you have to like put it in
- 21:32Speaker 3: Master Vault. And I'm like, how do I do this?
- 21:37Speaker 3: So Cindy had to show me because I've literally never
- 21:40Speaker 3: constructed an alliance in my Master Vault before. And, you know,
- 21:45Speaker 3: I was like, I imagine this is what I feel
- 21:48Speaker 3: like when I'm trying to tell X-Ray what to do
- 21:50Speaker 3: with a computer. Because I was like, wait, I do
- 21:53Speaker 3: what now? Click on what? But I managed to figure
- 22:01Speaker 3: it out. And Get registered and ready to rock and roll.
- 22:13Speaker 4: And Draz, who did you end up facing after this long, sweet, sweet,
- 22:18Speaker 4: arduous journey?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of Americans. Was it you?
- 22:25Speaker 4: Yep, yep, that was right. We make it all the
- 22:29Speaker 4: way there.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And we get paired. And, uh, yep.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Who is my partner?
- 22:36Speaker 5: Draz.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Draz. Draz. That's right. It was, well, you know, it
- 22:45Speaker 3: was kind of hilarious that this is what had happened. Um... Now,
- 22:53Speaker 3: there was a lot of international players there. So I guess, like,
- 22:58Speaker 3: because at first I was like, this is outrageous. And
- 23:00Speaker 3: then I was thinking about it a little more. And
- 23:02Speaker 3: I was like, oh, you know, this is, like, there's not,
- 23:12Speaker 3: there's not, there's a good amount of international players is
- 23:15Speaker 3: what I'm getting at. Yeah.
- 23:18Speaker 4: There is. I just found it comical that you and
- 23:20Speaker 4: I were paired together. I feel that we have been
- 23:26Speaker 4: paired together more often than not at Vaults.
- 23:31Speaker 3: We've definitely fought a few times. You've gotten some, I've
- 23:39Speaker 3: gotten some... I think I won this one, right? I
- 23:44Speaker 3: think so.
- 23:45Speaker 4: You did. So I was playing a great lateral shift
- 23:49Speaker 4: and then I was playing PV. You're playing PV. I
- 23:52Speaker 4: had lateral shift in my desk, but it is a
- 23:54Speaker 4: lateral shift library access deck. So I have a legacy
- 24:00Speaker 4: library access in PV with double forgive or forget library access,
- 24:04Speaker 4: material wormhole, parallel thinking, double reiteration, unity prism. 4 Seer, Cyberclone,
- 24:10Speaker 4: Hazard Zerp, and Wormhole Technician. But with it, I actually
- 24:17Speaker 4: had 17 Logos cards because I had multiple cards that
- 24:22Speaker 4: were also Logos. So Eddie of Dis with a pip,
- 24:26Speaker 4: Infernal Terran, Silver Key Imp, and then Double Invigorating Showers
- 24:30Speaker 4: with Logos pips. So you could literally just go Logos
- 24:33Speaker 4: all day. And when I won, that is what I did.
- 24:37Speaker 4: And against Draz, that is not what I did. I
- 24:40Speaker 4: could not literally... By the time we got to the end, Draz,
- 24:45Speaker 4: is when I finally saw most of my logos. It
- 24:49Speaker 4: was an absurd, literally absurd, how that came out. But
- 24:55Speaker 4: you got me, you beat me, and it hurt real bad.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Because a round one loss.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Means that we're not doing much. So, um, I did
- 25:05Speaker 4: end up finishing.
- 25:06Speaker 3: You gotta go pretty far. Otherwise. Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 4: I did go for two. Uh, the other game that
- 25:13Speaker 4: was of note was my loss. And I want to
- 25:15Speaker 4: say that was in round number four. And, uh, it
- 25:23Speaker 4: was a really close game kind of went back and forth. And, uh,
- 25:29Speaker 4: I end up lateral shifting in the very, very end.
- 25:32Speaker 4: And there's, it's real close. There are three cards that
- 25:36Speaker 4: I get to see. There's a tranks, a rage reset,
- 25:40Speaker 4: and a greedy reprisal. At that time in this game,
- 25:45Speaker 4: there were 14 Amber that was on his side and
- 25:48Speaker 4: 15 Amber on my side. So I'm down two keys
- 25:52Speaker 4: to one, but Bufo's under the prophecy for overreach. Um,
- 25:59Speaker 4: And this game was, that's where we finished. So you
- 26:03Speaker 4: have a choice what to take. I made a poor
- 26:07Speaker 4: choice and I went with Rage Reset. Thank you, sheep.
- 26:10Speaker 4: I'm scarred from St. Louis now because I missed Rage
- 26:13Speaker 4: Reset in order to go ahead and blow up my board.
- 26:16Speaker 4: And so that was it. I figured if I went
- 26:18Speaker 4: with the Rage Reset, I would kill the three creatures
- 26:22Speaker 4: that I had, draw some cards, but basically leave my
- 26:25Speaker 4: board empty. that would give me more Amber and essentially
- 26:34Speaker 4: it was there. But I knew that the Tranks was
- 26:44Speaker 4: just going to be used to capture all of my Amber.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I can capture the Amber, but if I capture his Amber,
- 26:53Speaker 4: I'm left with 15. He's going to take the Greedy
- 26:55Speaker 4: Reprisal and just kill my dudes and the amber goes
- 26:59Speaker 4: back to him and then he wins the correct play
- 27:03Speaker 4: was actually to play the greedy reprisal which i did
- 27:06Speaker 4: not do i played rage reset and it would have
- 27:09Speaker 4: been to blow up the board and then there wasn't
- 27:11Speaker 4: a creature to capture onto so lesson lesson learned there
- 27:17Speaker 4: uh continue to play through think but i mean again
- 27:20Speaker 4: taxation is you're playing through but i lost there I
- 27:23Speaker 4: finished 4-2. First round loss put me at 14. So
- 27:27Speaker 4: I did not make top eight there. And that was
- 27:29Speaker 4: my day. How did you end up finishing, Andreas?
- 27:33Speaker 3: I went 4-2, but did not make top eight, unfortunately.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Did you finish 9 or did you finish 10?
- 27:43Speaker 3: I don't remember. It was close, though. So... it, uh, yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 3: I all did overall did pretty well, but just not,
- 27:56Speaker 3: not quite well enough, but, um, I don't know. I
- 27:58Speaker 3: had a, I had a PE bullshit deck, right? It was, uh,
- 28:01Speaker 3: what was it? Cover fire, hoodwink, double bandit culver, right?
- 28:06Speaker 3: We had, uh, uh, double rage reset graft. Uh, Oh,
- 28:11Speaker 3: you gotta have that designer quick to go with your
- 28:13Speaker 3: double rage reset. And then, uh, you know, some, I
- 28:17Speaker 3: don't know what, uh, Infernus, Double Gift of Ember, Atrocity,
- 28:21Speaker 3: Infernal Terran discard stuff, right? Traumatic Echo, right? Like, you know,
- 28:25Speaker 3: just all the, all the BS cards, right? So, um,
- 28:28Speaker 3: it was just, you know, value stuff, not, not massive combos, uh, but, uh,
- 28:35Speaker 3: you know, ask again later, you know, guess what house
- 28:38Speaker 3: I'm thinking of, right? That, that BS.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Um, so, By the way, I did have asked again
- 28:45Speaker 4: because you're bringing it up. You guessed in our game
- 28:48Speaker 4: every single time. Now, later on, when I went logos,
- 28:52Speaker 4: that's on me for going. I was just cycling to finish.
- 28:55Speaker 4: But early on, you guessed every single time. There was
- 28:59Speaker 4: not a mistake in that game that you had guessed
- 29:01Speaker 4: wrong for ask again.
- 29:03Speaker 3: That was impressive. Good guessing.
- 29:05Speaker 4: You are very good. I mean, I did have, I
- 29:09Speaker 4: had Punk and I had Infernal Terran. So it's a
- 29:13Speaker 4: nice little fun little grouping as well. But yeah, you
- 29:18Speaker 4: took it to me real hard. It was great. That's
- 29:22Speaker 4: what she said.
- 29:22Speaker 3: That's what she said.
- 29:26Speaker 4: I think, I mean, I guess like, because I hadn't
- 29:28Speaker 4: really built alliances before, so I enjoyed what was there.
- 29:31Speaker 4: I think the deck that I played, I really liked.
- 29:35Speaker 4: the S again, but I think that in Alliance, S
- 29:38Speaker 4: again is actually not the strongest prophet guys.
- 29:41Speaker 5: It's not the strongest prophecy ever because it's random and
- 29:48Speaker 5: then it's bad your deck because like you said you
- 29:50Speaker 5: have 17 Logos cards so Logos is almost already just
- 29:53Speaker 5: a 50-50 on that card.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Correct Um, there's just a lot of house pips that
- 29:59Speaker 4: are there, but being able to control when things go off, uh,
- 30:06Speaker 4: it did. So my prophecy is asked again, overreach tales,
- 30:09Speaker 4: you lose and stars aligned. So early, the stars aligned
- 30:14Speaker 4: is there. If I can match the number, um, the
- 30:17Speaker 4: amount of logos can literally board out with the, The
- 30:23Speaker 4: Logos into Mercurial into something else which you can control.
- 30:27Speaker 4: There was a lot that was happening. But I think
- 30:31Speaker 4: that actually changing the prophecies would be if I was
- 30:33Speaker 4: going to make an adjustment. Boys, that's where I'd go
- 30:36Speaker 4: ahead and I'd change. We should go ahead and give
- 30:41Speaker 4: a big shout out though. One, we can go ahead
- 30:46Speaker 4: and say congrats to Willy because Willy took down the
- 30:49Speaker 4: Alliance and that Alliance deck was a beast uh so
- 30:55Speaker 4: big surprise here out of all of the top eight
- 30:58Speaker 4: decks um guys what set was the top eight everyone.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Uh was it was it pv it.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Was pv every single deck here in alliance was pv
- 31:09Speaker 4: so willie taking the top slot uh runner up was
- 31:12Speaker 4: uh brian gogo which we've seen so great to see
- 31:16Speaker 4: some individuals that we are familiar with the Well-recognized names,
- 31:21Speaker 4: well-deserved for their two invites. Third and fourth was N.H. Kuang,
- 31:30Speaker 4: 1109 in Sine. And then fifth through eighth, we have
- 31:36Speaker 4: our own Help From Future Self. So Sydney, three check, 120,
- 31:41Speaker 4: which made me think of X-Ray, Tran Hoi Bo, and
- 31:43Speaker 4: then Leidu. So it was great to be able to
- 31:47Speaker 4: see a lot of names, but congrats to all the
- 31:49Speaker 4: top eight players there and for our two who qualified.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Now, on that day, so this was actually really cool.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Even though I actually didn't really participate, and let me
- 32:06Speaker 3: explain why. So every day that we came in, there
- 32:11Speaker 3: was a different a flipboard full of event quests. And
- 32:18Speaker 3: so the, this is like basically a whole set of
- 32:22Speaker 3: side events. And the idea was whoever you are paired
- 32:25Speaker 3: up with in your first match, they're your partner for
- 32:29Speaker 3: these quests. So technically Ewok, you and I were partners
- 32:32Speaker 3: that first day.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I'm well aware because you chose not to do it.
- 32:36Speaker 4: I got pooed, but I also.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Know what's up. Uh, and, and, These actually, it was
- 32:43Speaker 3: really cool, right? So I'll just read a few of these, right?
- 32:45Speaker 3: So win your first double match, lose your first double match, right?
- 32:49Speaker 3: If you achieve these things, you get like these purple
- 32:53Speaker 3: ember things that you trade in for stuff. Like win
- 32:57Speaker 3: a sealed match, play a match on stream, be eliminated
- 33:00Speaker 3: while having teammate in the top eight, right? So participate
- 33:04Speaker 3: in all side events. So it goes on and on.
- 33:06Speaker 3: It's stuff like bring certain decks. kiss someone at the
- 33:10Speaker 3: vault tour which yeah we should have made out of
- 33:14Speaker 3: you I guess my wife was at the vault we
- 33:17Speaker 3: could have done that.
- 33:19Speaker 4: Just wait pause he wouldn't give me tongue there was
- 33:23Speaker 4: I was able to get Amber before it was recorded
- 33:26Speaker 4: on the screen yeah Judo has that so there's.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Evidence nice sing a song so there's a whole bunch
- 33:42Speaker 3: so it was kind of cool right like you go
- 33:46Speaker 3: and try to achieve these things you get prizes you
- 33:48Speaker 3: do stuff right so I thought it was a really
- 33:50Speaker 3: cool idea so did you do some of these Ewok
- 33:56Speaker 3: or in I know you weren't there the first day
- 33:58Speaker 3: sheep but do you do some of these quest things
- 34:01Speaker 3: no but you walk say it again I was trying
- 34:07Speaker 3: to do any of these event quest things.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Uh, well I did go ahead. So I was trying
- 34:13Speaker 4: to pull up the photo of what I had. So
- 34:15Speaker 4: when your first double match, lose your first double match,
- 34:17Speaker 4: win a sealed match, play a match on stream, be eliminated.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I know, but like I was trying to put this,
- 34:23Speaker 1: I had kissed someone at a vault tour and, uh,
- 34:35Speaker 1: Not on this listing, but I will give them credit
- 34:38Speaker 1: because not only did they have this, but they changed
- 34:40Speaker 1: the event quest every day.
- 34:42Speaker 4: So there were different ones.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And honestly, the reason I didn't do it
- 34:50Speaker 3: was because, well, you know, I was in the main tournament.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I was in the running, so I did the main tournament.
- 34:57Speaker 3: And then I'm literally on the other side of the world,
- 35:00Speaker 3: and my family is there, and I want to go
- 35:03Speaker 3: sightseeing and see stuff and do stuff. So whereas I
- 35:09Speaker 3: think at a vault tour that's in a little less
- 35:12Speaker 3: of an exotic location, I would do... I would do
- 35:21Speaker 3: more side events, more keyforging, stay late, sometimes playing more
- 35:26Speaker 3: keyforge games. I really didn't here, right? I did the
- 35:29Speaker 3: main tournament. I was like, OK, I'm going to go sightsee.
- 35:31Speaker 3: I'm going to go do stuff. So that's the reason
- 35:34Speaker 3: why I didn't do a lot of the side event stuff,
- 35:37Speaker 3: which I felt slightly bad for because I could tell Riku, Bamboo,
- 35:41Speaker 3: the organizers to stay. uh, put in a lot of
- 35:43Speaker 3: effort to try to make really cool side events and
- 35:46Speaker 3: they were really cool. Uh, so my lack of participation
- 35:49Speaker 3: was not a, uh, indictment of what they had put together.
- 35:54Speaker 3: It would have had to been pretty crazy. Amazing for
- 35:57Speaker 3: me to not be like, okay, I'm going to, you know,
- 36:00Speaker 3: go see the sites, uh, not going to do that instead.
- 36:03Speaker 4: So I'm a hundred percent with you. Like, so I
- 36:06Speaker 4: look back, we had 28 participants that signed up. I
- 36:08Speaker 4: know not everyone showed up. Um, but, even I think
- 36:13Speaker 4: we were having 24 post. So pretty close to that
- 36:17Speaker 4: 28 there, like you could go visit a foreign country.
- 36:22Speaker 4: So I don't think there's anything wrong with that decision.
- 36:26Speaker 4: And it's nothing against, I know Riku, I played him.
- 36:29Speaker 4: I want to say that on Saturday and he was
- 36:32Speaker 4: bummed that some people weren't playing as often when the
- 36:34Speaker 4: side events. And I said, well, one, you have a
- 36:37Speaker 4: large amount of international people who are here. And so
- 36:41Speaker 4: if they lose, okay, there's nothing really to be sad about.
- 36:45Speaker 4: You go and visit Vietnam. You get to go ahead
- 36:47Speaker 4: and experience the amazing town, the food, the culture, the people.
- 36:52Speaker 4: And outside of that, a number of people stayed back
- 36:55Speaker 4: and still played in sealed events on the side. And
- 36:57Speaker 4: it was great to hang out with the Key Forge
- 36:59Speaker 4: individuals who are part of the Vietnam community. So it
- 37:04Speaker 4: literally was a win-win, whatever you wanted to do. But
- 37:08Speaker 4: I lean more towards you. I just wanted to go
- 37:10Speaker 4: on experience because I was... so far away from my home,
- 37:14Speaker 4: I wanted to see what I could.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Yeah. And that first day, I'm just operating on adrenaline, basically,
- 37:21Speaker 3: because I'm super tired because of jet lag and all this,
- 37:23Speaker 3: but I'm like, everything's so cool, so we'll run it out.
- 37:26Speaker 3: We actually didn't have that much time for lunch that
- 37:29Speaker 3: first day. It was like 30 minutes, which was kind
- 37:34Speaker 3: of insane.
- 37:36Speaker 4: It was 30 minutes, so I will say, Josh, thank
- 37:38Speaker 4: you for giving us a little more. We did go
- 37:40Speaker 4: to 45 on the next day. two days and 45
- 37:43Speaker 4: was enough um dress you made this decision hey let's
- 37:47Speaker 4: go get coffee so.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Yeah literally super hungry because like we had that big
- 37:53Speaker 3: lunch and and like my body's all thrown off from
- 37:57Speaker 3: time zone again i'm just operating on adrenaline and excitement
- 37:59Speaker 3: to be here and do it so it's like i
- 38:01Speaker 3: was just gonna coffee shop like i looked one up
- 38:04Speaker 3: that looked good that wasn't too far and they had
- 38:06Speaker 3: pictures of like pastries and stuff so it's like okay
- 38:09Speaker 3: i'll get like a croissant that's like a little snack
- 38:10Speaker 3: that'll be good So, um, you know, never been having
- 38:16Speaker 3: been to Ho Chi Minh city before. I don't super
- 38:18Speaker 3: know the scale of things, but we only have 30 minutes.
- 38:21Speaker 3: By the time we get out, you know, we can't
- 38:23Speaker 3: wait our turn in the elevator, go down the stairs.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Cause it's like two people use the elevator time. And
- 38:28Speaker 3: then by the time we get out to the street
- 38:29Speaker 3: and we're walking, it's like a little further than I thought.
- 38:31Speaker 3: So we get all the way there and it's like,
- 38:34Speaker 3: Oh shoot. Like we've got like mere minutes before you
- 38:38Speaker 3: have to turn around and go back. Um, uh but
- 38:42Speaker 3: like you know it's fine it's a coffee shop we'll
- 38:44Speaker 3: go we'll grab some coffee i'll just grab like tap
- 38:47Speaker 3: the case give me that croissant rock and roll well
- 38:49Speaker 3: no you go in and apparently it's like no no
- 38:53Speaker 3: like even the coffee shops like you sit down and
- 38:56Speaker 3: the server comes and uh they will take your order
- 39:01Speaker 3: and they will bring you your croissant and i'm like
- 39:03Speaker 3: oh shoot we do not have time for this so
- 39:07Speaker 3: yeah just turn around and left unfortunately.
- 39:10Speaker 4: So, audience, the thing that Draz is missing is that
- 39:14Speaker 4: we had Insane Harpy with us who, on the way out,
- 39:19Speaker 4: broke her foot and was in essential, like, in crutches.
- 39:28Speaker 4: One health, like... going to the hospital, going through emergency
- 39:32Speaker 4: room over there was so much cheaper than anything in
- 39:34Speaker 4: the US. But the time said 10 minutes. They also,
- 39:40Speaker 4: like Vietnam for being a city, had a ton of
- 39:43Speaker 4: greenery that was there. So lots of plants and trees.
- 39:46Speaker 4: That day that we chose to go ahead and walk,
- 39:49Speaker 4: they were trimming the trees and the branches. So now
- 39:54Speaker 4: all the streets are covered in branches on the sidewalk.
- 39:57Speaker 4: We have someone who is in crutches who's trying to
- 40:00Speaker 4: finagle going on the sidewalk where they can walk, sometimes
- 40:06Speaker 4: going into the street, which you're then trying to dodge
- 40:10Speaker 4: all of the little moped bikes that are zooming at you,
- 40:13Speaker 4: and you just have to go for it. We get
- 40:17Speaker 4: there and like, you can see this look of terror, like, okay,
- 40:19Speaker 4: we made it. It was 10 minutes and it was
- 40:25Speaker 4: going to be 10 minutes back. So on a half
- 40:26Speaker 4: hour at best, we had 10 minutes and we were
- 40:30Speaker 4: at less than that. So it was, it was an
- 40:32Speaker 4: amazing experience, but I'm not good for food and not
- 40:36Speaker 4: good for drinks.
- 40:36Speaker 3: So. Yeah. I mean, so we did, I may be
- 40:41Speaker 3: head slightly, but we did go back there.
- 40:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 40:42Speaker 3: So first time it was like you, me, St. Harmony, Jace, uh,
- 40:48Speaker 3: was Barry there. I don't know the, um, but, uh,
- 40:55Speaker 3: so we came back, um, later and had coffee there. JJ, myself, uh, Barry,
- 41:01Speaker 3: that's what, yeah. JJ, myself, Barry went there to that
- 41:04Speaker 3: coffee shop later. It was awesome. um by the way
- 41:08Speaker 3: the coffee culture in vietnam was awesome if you are
- 41:13Speaker 3: a coffee drinker and you're like you know thinking about
- 41:17Speaker 3: going to vietnam you think you will love it there
- 41:19Speaker 3: are so many different types of coffee and the coffee
- 41:21Speaker 3: shops are open like till nine or ten at night
- 41:25Speaker 3: or 24 hours a day because like people just drink
- 41:28Speaker 3: coffee all the time I was drinking coffee all the time.
- 41:33Speaker 3: I was doing their cafe sua, which is like their traditional,
- 41:36Speaker 3: like very, very, very dense coffee. pour over or a
- 41:41Speaker 3: strong pour over situation. You can call it pour over. Uh,
- 41:45Speaker 3: but then there was like, and they do that with
- 41:47Speaker 3: like condensed milk, which is interesting. Uh, but they have
- 41:50Speaker 3: like this great coconut coffee that, you know, they're like
- 41:53Speaker 3: chopping open coconuts and just pouring that in and coffee.
- 41:56Speaker 3: And it's like, awesome. It's fresh. It's good. Um, they
- 42:00Speaker 3: have like egg coffee, which is a weird custard thing.
- 42:03Speaker 3: They've got salt coffee. They've got so many different types
- 42:05Speaker 3: of coffee. I was drinking so much coffee all the
- 42:08Speaker 3: time after I got home. Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 4: He's still hopped up on coffee, if you cannot tell,
- 42:14Speaker 4: three weeks later, man.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I had this constant headache. I couldn't shake. And then
- 42:19Speaker 3: I was like, wait, I think I'm in caffeine withdrawal
- 42:21Speaker 3: because I'm not just drinking coffee all the time, which
- 42:26Speaker 3: I missed because the coffee was so good everywhere. Everywhere
- 42:29Speaker 3: I went, it was just boom, boom, boom, coffee. So
- 42:31Speaker 3: I got home and I was like, I'm not drinking
- 42:35Speaker 3: coffee enough.
- 42:38Speaker 4: I mean, coffee was a very large part. I would
- 42:40Speaker 4: say a beautiful, beautiful city with lots of greenery. But
- 42:44Speaker 4: I've also not seen more people smoking than I did
- 42:48Speaker 4: when I went out. So I went out running in
- 42:50Speaker 4: the morning before our Lions game. And it just surprised me.
- 42:54Speaker 4: It is something that is not prevalent around here anymore.
- 42:59Speaker 4: You really have to kind of go out of your
- 43:01Speaker 4: way to find smoking. And like there was street vendors,
- 43:04Speaker 4: like I'd be walking up and down the street and
- 43:05Speaker 4: they're like.
- 43:06Speaker 2: You want some cigarettes?
- 43:06Speaker 4: You want some cigarettes? You're like selling it. But like
- 43:09Speaker 4: when I'm going for my run in the morning, like
- 43:12Speaker 4: there were people that were running and there were people
- 43:15Speaker 4: right next to just all smoking. And I'm like, oh, okay.
- 43:19Speaker 3: So it was just a time like running around the
- 43:21Speaker 3: mouth there.
- 43:22Speaker 4: I did not see anyone running with a cigarette, but
- 43:25Speaker 4: it was just, it was an interesting mixture of, of
- 43:28Speaker 4: kind of life and how people were living. So it
- 43:31Speaker 4: was really, really neat experience. Um, and then when, once
- 43:37Speaker 4: we were finished, uh, you found a really neat spot
- 43:40Speaker 4: for dinner. So we, we missed the top eight, but
- 43:43Speaker 4: because they're playing each event each day, um, top eight
- 43:48Speaker 4: started to go ahead and kick off and we're like, Hey,
- 43:50Speaker 4: let's go get some food. So where, where did you
- 43:52Speaker 4: go ahead and take us? Yeah.
- 43:54Speaker 3: So I definitely was like, I need to get for like, Pronto, right?
- 44:00Speaker 3: I came all the way here for tea, forage, and pho.
- 44:05Speaker 3: And coffee, apparently. So I had looked up best pho
- 44:10Speaker 3: places in the city, and this one place that wasn't too,
- 44:13Speaker 3: too far was recommended on one of the websites I
- 44:17Speaker 3: was reading. So we went down the... There's this walking
- 44:22Speaker 3: street situation where... um there's like this big central walking
- 44:28Speaker 3: area between two roads it's kind of cool he's excited
- 44:31Speaker 3: over we found this uh place and we had to
- 44:34Speaker 3: like people people were like unsure where i was going
- 44:37Speaker 3: i was like i got this guys because we kept
- 44:39Speaker 3: walking past places where you know people were trying to
- 44:41Speaker 3: be like you know oh mister like come my place
- 44:45Speaker 3: like they're like they're like this phone here i was
- 44:46Speaker 3: like no guys i got this So we end up
- 44:49Speaker 3: at this place and it was awesome. And we had
- 44:53Speaker 3: like a whole crowd of folks, right? We had like
- 44:56Speaker 3: a ton of the U S folks. We had a
- 44:58Speaker 3: bunch of, of other international folks, right? Like we had
- 45:04Speaker 3: the French players with us, Malaysian players. We had, we
- 45:08Speaker 3: had like a lot of folks there. And so, yeah,
- 45:13Speaker 3: I just get whatever their supreme foe is. I don't
- 45:18Speaker 3: know if it's called supreme, but whatever their classic flesh
- 45:22Speaker 3: extra stuff is. I think JJ got Wagyu something crazy,
- 45:26Speaker 3: which I was looking over. I was like, that looks
- 45:29Speaker 3: so good. All the food was amazing. It was delicious.
- 45:36Speaker 3: What did you think, Ewok?
- 45:38Speaker 4: Oh, it was amazing. So I did write down Fossoul
- 45:40Speaker 4: was the spot that we ended up. If I go
- 45:43Speaker 4: back to Ho Chi Minh City, I would totally go back.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Would recommend it. Really enjoyed it. Little things also, though,
- 45:49Speaker 4: that I really enjoyed, like that point, someone had ordered
- 45:55Speaker 4: basically what was a Sprite or 7-Up for here. And
- 46:00Speaker 4: there was basically seltzer water. There was a handmade sugar mixture.
- 46:05Speaker 4: And then you had just a lemon or lime that
- 46:07Speaker 4: was there. Like that's what we consistently had. So from
- 46:11Speaker 4: breakfast to lunch to dinner, a lot of fruits, a
- 46:14Speaker 4: lot of vegetables, a lot of really healthy items. And
- 46:17Speaker 4: even when we had like what we consider soda, it
- 46:19Speaker 4: was like handmade and kind of put together. So amazing experience.
- 46:23Speaker 4: But yeah, it was great. And I know we had
- 46:25Speaker 4: filled up that whole restaurant kind of with the table
- 46:28Speaker 4: and lots of people. It was just a great experience
- 46:31Speaker 4: after the vault to sit down and talk. whether that
- 46:34Speaker 4: was talking about Vietnam or talking about what's happening for
- 46:39Speaker 4: the next day or the food and the culture that
- 46:41Speaker 4: we were experiencing. So amazing.
- 46:45Speaker 3: It was really awesome. It was really awesome. And continuing
- 46:51Speaker 3: on the... I'm just on an adrenaline rush because... you
- 46:56Speaker 3: know key forge vietnam checking out vietnam all this like
- 47:00Speaker 3: i take my family back to the hotel and then
- 47:02Speaker 3: we go out drinking right because i don't need to
- 47:04Speaker 3: sleep uh i'm a madman and uh so uh we
- 47:09Speaker 3: went to um a couple different places we went actually
- 47:13Speaker 3: didn't write that where did we i think we went to.
- 47:16Speaker 4: So this is i put in the show notes the
- 47:17Speaker 4: ellie cock the ellie cocktail bar and kitchen that's right
- 47:21Speaker 4: And like you wound us kind of in and around
- 47:25Speaker 4: and all of a sudden we went off some major
- 47:27Speaker 4: streets into what I consider more of a back. Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 4: More of a back alley, but yet it was still like,
- 47:35Speaker 4: it was essentially a business alley. Like there were businesses
- 47:37Speaker 4: on your right and on your left. And we kind
- 47:39Speaker 4: of won't wound around and we went into what one
- 47:42Speaker 4: would just kind of picture is, I don't know, more
- 47:44Speaker 4: of like a dorm room door essentially. And we ended
- 47:49Speaker 4: up in this really neat bar. And there was a
- 47:54Speaker 4: piano player that was over on the side, just really chill.
- 47:57Speaker 4: And like, I mean, say on the side.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Like we were almost sitting in his lap or actually
- 48:01Speaker 3: he was basically sitting in our lap. He's like, I'm
- 48:03Speaker 3: going to reach down and touch the back of his
- 48:05Speaker 3: head or something.
- 48:07Speaker 4: But like there was, it wasn't super crowded, but there
- 48:11Speaker 4: was an, I mean, it was what that would have
- 48:14Speaker 4: been Friday and, But there were other individuals there. They
- 48:17Speaker 4: had great service, and the drinks were very, very, very good.
- 48:20Speaker 4: So I want to say that was you, JJ, and
- 48:22Speaker 4: myself that ended up going into the LA... Yep.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we were... There was a bunch of people who
- 48:28Speaker 3: were like, we're going to join you. We're like, we're here.
- 48:30Speaker 3: But then they kept getting distracted and ending up with
- 48:32Speaker 3: their places, which was fine. But yeah, that was really good.
- 48:38Speaker 3: I would definitely recommend LA Cocktail Bar and Kitchen. So...
- 48:45Speaker 3: So I think we have a number of drinks there. Finally,
- 48:47Speaker 3: the piano guy leaves. We're chilling. And we decide, hey,
- 48:51Speaker 3: we're going to. So Liquid Squatch is like, hey, I'm
- 48:54Speaker 3: near the hotel. Want to do, like, he wants to
- 48:57Speaker 3: go somewhere, but not for that long. So we're like, well,
- 48:59Speaker 3: we've been here a bunch. So we go to, we
- 49:01Speaker 3: meet him at, there's this gin bar right around the
- 49:06Speaker 3: corner from the hotel. The Trio Institute, which I'm sure
- 49:11Speaker 3: I'm pronouncing that horribly wrong. speaking and pronouncing things horribly
- 49:16Speaker 3: wrong so my wife of course did dual lingo for
- 49:20Speaker 3: Vietnamese in advance of this trip. And she's like practicing
- 49:25Speaker 3: all her sayings and all her words and all that stuff. And,
- 49:29Speaker 3: you know, we go somewhere and then we're leaving. And
- 49:34Speaker 3: she says, you know, thank you, see you later, or
- 49:37Speaker 3: something like that. And they just, like, stare at her blankly,
- 49:41Speaker 3: like they have no idea, like, what in the world
- 49:44Speaker 3: she's trying to say. And so, like, she, like, tries
- 49:47Speaker 3: to repeat herself and, like, all this, and they still eventually, like, um, like,
- 49:53Speaker 3: she tries to show them her phone or something, and
- 49:57Speaker 3: they're like, oh, okay, you know. So we're talking to
- 50:00Speaker 3: Riku later, and she, like, tells them what, uh, what
- 50:05Speaker 3: she's saying and he just stares at her like what
- 50:07Speaker 3: and then like sort of figures out what she's trying
- 50:10Speaker 3: to say and he's like oh yeah nobody would ever
- 50:13Speaker 3: say that that's like ultra formal and you know she's
- 50:20Speaker 3: like well what do people say then he's like you
- 50:22Speaker 3: don't want to know and she's like yeah yeah I
- 50:24Speaker 3: want to know what do they say he's like they
- 50:27Speaker 3: just say bye that's it bye I thought it was
- 50:33Speaker 3: funny Anywho, we go to the gin bar and it
- 50:38Speaker 3: was delicious.
- 50:40Speaker 4: It was delicious. I think at that point, because the
- 50:43Speaker 4: gin bar was around the corner from Saigon Hotel where
- 50:46Speaker 4: we were staying. And I think Squash ended up joining
- 50:50Speaker 4: us at that point. And the drinks were really good.
- 50:55Speaker 4: I will say that at this point, my lack of
- 50:59Speaker 4: sleep started to hit me.
- 51:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you were falling apart.
- 51:03Speaker 4: I was falling apart. You were talking about all of
- 51:06Speaker 4: the amazing cocktail bars to visit and the equipment to buy.
- 51:12Speaker 4: And I was being put to sleep into La La Land.
- 51:16Speaker 4: So I did back out after our first one. And
- 51:21Speaker 4: that's where I finished up.
- 51:23Speaker 5: You did.
- 51:23Speaker 4: You guys were troopers. Sheep, I believe you then arrived
- 51:28Speaker 4: at some point that night.
- 51:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I landed one-ish in the morning or something.
- 51:36Speaker 3: While we were at the gym bar.
- 51:40Speaker 4: While we were at the gym bar. With you and
- 51:44Speaker 4: Kitten Toe, you got through customs. How many hours of
- 51:48Speaker 4: sleep did you get before our event then on Saturday
- 51:51Speaker 4: for Sealed?
- 51:53Speaker 5: Well, I don't sleep on planes, as it turns out.
- 51:56Speaker 5: And then I don't sleep in hotel rooms.
- 52:00Speaker 4: So.
- 52:01Speaker 5: Not much. I had a problem in the 48 hours
- 52:06Speaker 5: leading up to sealed. I think I had three to
- 52:10Speaker 5: four hours of sleep.
- 52:12Speaker 4: That will put you in the best.
- 52:14Speaker 5: Interrupted sleep at that right now. No quality sleep.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but like across two days or something, right? Like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:24Speaker 5: It's not awesome.
- 52:26Speaker 4: It was interesting because. Vietnam is specifically 12 hours different
- 52:31Speaker 4: from where cheap you and I are at. And so like,
- 52:36Speaker 4: if it is 10 o'clock in the morning here, it'd
- 52:39Speaker 4: be 10 o'clock at night there. And so that did
- 52:43Speaker 4: have an impact. I haven't, I mean, Drez, you travel
- 52:46Speaker 4: a bit more for work, but I haven't had a
- 52:48Speaker 4: ton of experience with that time difference. I felt it
- 52:52Speaker 4: did okay. Cause I was able to get more sleep
- 52:55Speaker 4: on the, on the plane and, Um, just a lot
- 52:57Speaker 4: of travel. I ended up with 31 hours of travel
- 53:00Speaker 4: between the two different days, um, which was brutal. That
- 53:03Speaker 4: was just flight time, not even waiting between flights. But, uh, yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 4: two hours, like four hours would be brutal, man. I
- 53:13Speaker 4: don't know how you did it. So you came in
- 53:15Speaker 4: better either.
- 53:17Speaker 5: No, it didn't come coming into our con day. I, uh,
- 53:22Speaker 5: after sealed for, uh, I slept less than three hours
- 53:26Speaker 5: again that night. I just couldn't do it. I was
- 53:28Speaker 5: up at three in the morning wandering around.
- 53:31Speaker 3: You're like a zombie for a bit there, Sheep.
- 53:34Speaker 5: Oh, you are not wrong.
- 53:36Speaker 2: It was it was brutal.
- 53:37Speaker 5: I don't know. Normally I sleep just fine, but. Absolutely
- 53:42Speaker 5: could not do it.
- 53:45Speaker 4: So at the gin bar, how long did you end
- 53:47Speaker 4: up staying then, Drez?
- 53:49Speaker 3: Oh, we closed it out. They kicked us out.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Oh, goodness.
- 53:51Speaker 2: OK.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Yeah. Like I said, I was running on a drone.
- 53:57Speaker 3: That did not last, by the way. You know, I'm
- 54:00Speaker 3: skipping ahead a little bit. But the following night, like
- 54:03Speaker 3: after dinner, I was like... I felt sort of like
- 54:09Speaker 3: people were like, oh, where's Jaskor going to go? I
- 54:13Speaker 3: was like, Jaskor's going to go to bed. That's going
- 54:17Speaker 3: to be the Jaskor experience after dinner this time. Yeah,
- 54:21Speaker 3: the following night I crashed. I didn't, you know, there
- 54:26Speaker 3: was no partying. I was just down for the count.
- 54:32Speaker 3: But the adrenaline had worn off and it all caught
- 54:35Speaker 3: up with me.
- 54:38Speaker 4: So, boys, all three of us showed up Saturday. I
- 54:40Speaker 4: will say the room arrangement for me was there was
- 54:43Speaker 4: tons of space. No issue. It was very clean. So
- 54:47Speaker 4: it was a great spot to be able to have
- 54:49Speaker 4: the vault in, to go up this. While the elevator
- 54:52Speaker 4: was slower, they had stairs, too. And it was great.
- 54:57Speaker 4: I just had to go up some stairs in order
- 54:58Speaker 4: to get to the event. So we got our sealed decks.
- 55:01Speaker 4: I'll give a big shout out to Squash, who brought
- 55:04Speaker 4: some English decks. So we were given an option to
- 55:06Speaker 4: buy English. versus the Vietnamese. And I thought about it.
- 55:09Speaker 4: I really like my Vietnamese decks, but I also wanted
- 55:13Speaker 4: to take a little bit of mental load off of
- 55:15Speaker 4: me with the lack of sleep. So I went with
- 55:18Speaker 4: some English decks. I opened them. I will say I
- 55:23Speaker 4: opened them. And I saw that with DM, I had
- 55:28Speaker 4: zero C.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Not.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Like, hey, here's a situational I could remove. I had zero. Like,
- 55:37Speaker 4: all three decks, there was nothing. And I knew that
- 55:40Speaker 4: it was going to be a rough day. I was
- 55:42Speaker 4: hoping to be able to get a win. And that
- 55:46Speaker 4: is where we started. So I had a ton of
- 55:51Speaker 4: fun games. I did end up actually... I think I
- 55:58Speaker 4: finished 3-2. So I finished above... above 500 or I
- 56:04Speaker 4: finished three and three, I was happy, but basically I
- 56:08Speaker 4: was going to throw out creatures. And if you couldn't
- 56:10Speaker 4: kill my board, which is not great, or could not
- 56:13Speaker 4: exhaust it, or you could steal. Cause I also did
- 56:15Speaker 4: not have Amber control. Um, then, then I, then I
- 56:20Speaker 4: did things, but, uh, I came in, I was happy
- 56:23Speaker 4: to play, but being in Vietnam, I had no problem
- 56:28Speaker 4: saying no. This is amazing. Uh, thanks guys. I love you. But, uh,
- 56:33Speaker 4: I went out and I, I walked around town and
- 56:35Speaker 4: I was by myself and I, I felt bad because
- 56:39Speaker 4: I was not there for, um, I was not there
- 56:44Speaker 4: for the side events. Um, But I got to experience Vietnam.
- 56:50Speaker 4: I will say, yes, I did go ahead and face
- 56:52Speaker 4: Riku in round three.
- 56:54Speaker 3: I see him reminding you there in the chat.
- 56:56Speaker 4: Yeah, he reminded me.
- 56:58Speaker 3: We cannot forget about our awesome host.
- 57:02Speaker 4: He went ahead and beat me when we were at KFC,
- 57:05Speaker 4: and then we played here, and he beat me. I mean, this,
- 57:09Speaker 4: I didn't think the deck would do anything. But I
- 57:11Speaker 4: can share Riku since he wants to go ahead and explain.
- 57:15Speaker 4: So we have this great match where it's sealed and
- 57:19Speaker 4: he puts down a Princess Leilani. And again, I told
- 57:22Speaker 4: you I don't have removal. I had one bounce card
- 57:27Speaker 4: back to hand. So I bounced that Leilani. A few
- 57:34Speaker 4: turns later, he has Leilani out and I could not
- 57:37Speaker 4: respond to it immediately.
- 57:38Speaker 3: So....
- 57:40Speaker 4: After Leilani, I'm like, oh, this is not going to
- 57:42Speaker 4: be good. I can't fight it. I can't bounce it.
- 57:45Speaker 4: What's going to happen to me? Riku goes ahead and
- 57:49Speaker 4: chooses to put a brainstem antenna on that Leilani. And
- 57:55Speaker 4: then drops down. I think there were two, three creatures,
- 57:59Speaker 4: just one of them being Emperor Memrox. So there you go, guys.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Go ahead and exhaust one of my creatures, Kaleo. ready Memrocks,
- 58:10Speaker 4: archive a card, gain Amber for it, rinse and repeat
- 58:14Speaker 4: multiple times. I believe that he finished that turn with
- 58:19Speaker 4: 19 Amber. I could be wrong. That was a little
- 58:23Speaker 4: bit fuzzy. He'll probably remind me in the cast. But again,
- 58:26Speaker 4: without any Amber control, I think technically I had my
- 58:31Speaker 4: Amber control was the unfathomable card where I can capture
- 58:35Speaker 4: all of your Amber. Nothing more than that. But it
- 58:38Speaker 4: was hysterical because I couldn't do anything. I just looked
- 58:44Speaker 4: at that going, oh, my goodness. So, yep, that was
- 58:49Speaker 4: my memory right there as Riku haunted me. And I
- 58:52Speaker 4: came all the way to Vietnam, and that's the greeting
- 58:54Speaker 4: I got is a whoopin'. A whoopin' from Memrocks with brainstemments.
- 58:59Speaker 4: And I'm Princess Leilani. That's a thing in Sealed, guys.
- 59:05Speaker 3: What did you guys do? Yeah, my partner, right, so
- 59:09Speaker 3: round one, my buddy or whatever the thing was. So
- 59:12Speaker 3: it was Liquid Clash. So we faced and... you know,
- 59:20Speaker 3: this is about the time I start being like, Oh, another,
- 59:23Speaker 3: you know, American, like, wait a second. There's a lot of,
- 59:25Speaker 3: there's a lot of foreigners here, non, non us folks.
- 59:27Speaker 3: So it's like, I absolutely, I guess, I guess it
- 59:29Speaker 3: makes sense. I'm facing so many, uh, non Vietnamese, but, uh, um, yeah,
- 59:37Speaker 3: I think I, I just had a good, like a
- 59:39Speaker 3: real good roll out of the gate and, uh, managed
- 59:42Speaker 3: to manage to beat him before he could get too
- 59:45Speaker 3: much going. Um, but, um, Uh, there was, uh, I
- 59:52Speaker 3: actually don't super remember what in the world I had.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Like I, for whatever reason, I often remember, uh, things
- 59:59Speaker 3: that screwed me over more than I remember what did
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: well for me. So like, I know I had all
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: our Mars because one of my losses, uh, my all
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: our Mars got stolen from me and then it was
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: just used to wreck me. Yeah. um uh i think
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: i was using my all our mars to try to
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: like capture and then drop i think i had two
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: uh erics use the clevers so like i think that
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: worked okay where sometimes i'd like capture some stuff and
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: then like boom drop them and take it all like
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: that sort of that sort of thing was my you
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: know kind of sealed shenanigans which can be fun um the, uh,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: I definitely know I had some techno active phobias because
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: they were super swingy where, um, I felt like I
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: would get a bunch of the road and I missed
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: a bunch of the row. I don't know. So don't super,
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: super remember my decks, but, uh, I did go, uh,
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: four and two again. So it did very well. Again,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, there's a chance I'm getting in.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: And I was like, just missed getting top eight. So
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: I was like, ah, burn. Um, but, uh, you know, great,
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: played a great mix of players. Um, played... One thing
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: that was interesting is I'd never played Elemac, but a
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: French player, a very good French player. I played her
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: every day, which was kind of cool. We got to
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: chat a little bit, which was fun. You bring it up.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: Riku and the Vietnam Key Forge community actually were super sweet.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: because they got a cake for ISFET and LA Max
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: 10 year anniversary. So like another little side event, like
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: those are the things where the keyboard community is just
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: so good. It was above and beyond, but it was
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: really neat to see. And just to be their excitement
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: for being together and at the tour was amazing. So again,
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: thanks for making that a special moment. I will say
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: shout out to Ann, who is my partner for sealed.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: I'm sorry. I was a horrible partner cause I left,
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: but there we go.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Omission. Sightseeing to do. Oh, yeah. Go, go, go. Do
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: you remember in your zombie state anything about your sealed
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: time at Vietong?
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Actually, I remember I sealed quite well. I was pretty
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: excited by my deck in general. I had a solid
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: Skyborn pod with triple against all flags, a Hannibal's Mark,
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: And the less good Hannibal's Mark that just marquee expedition
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: that just takes a flake creature. Right. So that pod
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: was really good. I had a moderate unfathomable pod with
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: double catch and release and an abyssal site and some stuff.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: So I was pretty happy with that one. And then
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: my third pod, I went with a mid range shadow
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: that had a little bit of steel and a little
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: bit of sea. It just did a little bit of everything.
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: Because my other choice was basically an equally iffy dragon pod.
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: But it didn't have anything great. It did have the
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: parasitic charge and two pip the pilferers, but pips are
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: kind of hit or miss.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: So I went with the guaranteed steal that I'd get
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: in the shadows because the shadows had one caught you
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: napping and two of the tap-down cards? Something like that.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: It was pretty good. Like, I thought it would be good.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: And then, uh, I have no recollection of who I played, really.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: I remember my two losses. My wins, I... I played against... straight,
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: non-English-primary-speaking individuals the whole day, so I didn't have to
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: run into any... anybody I knew.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: Um, so I.
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: basically always playing against foreign language cards, which is interesting.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: But even in my stupor state, I was actually right
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: on and I was catching my opponent's mistakes. They would
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: play a card and go do something like that's not
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: what that card says. And then they'd have to look
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: up their own translations and figure it out.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: Was it was it me? Did you correct me? That's
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: very normal.
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: I don't know my.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: Cards do in English.
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: So I like I For not having any sleep, I
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: was okay. But then third round, I lost to.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Dr.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: Kidd, who went on to win it. No, fourth round,
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: I lost to him. Fifth round, I played Riku and
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: barely lost to Riku. I think that's the game where
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: had I had good sleep and been thinking clearly, I
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: might have been able to pull that game out. And
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: then I won my sixth round to end up four, two.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: And I was, I was 11th. Nick was like nine,
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: like nine, 10, 11 and 12 were all Americans. I
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: think who are foreign to.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Yep. Yeah.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: And didn't make the cut.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: I think, I think having been better rested, I might've
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: been able to do, do a little more. Um, the
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: worst card in my deck again was Brynn Reckoning, which
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: had an Amber Pip and a discard. So sometimes I
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: would play it for hand efficiency, but like when I
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: lost to Dr. Kid, um, I played a catch and release, right?
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Which his deck was actually very, uh, creature focused in
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: Skyborn as well. Also, also Hannibal's marking. Um, I didn't
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: really know that at the time, so I catch and
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: release the first bunch of cards he puts down, and
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: then I played my Brynn Reckoning. This is like the
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: third turn of the game. It flips my other catch
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: and release out of my deck, and that was pretty
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: much the death meal for me, because then he was
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: able to Hannibal's Mark maybe my Princess Alani or something,
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: and then that was just game over. Because he could
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: just then stay in Skyborn with a little bit of
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: steel and, you know, card draw and all the good
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: stuff that Skyborn creatures can.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Do and kill me.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: And I don't remember where I lost Riku because I
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: prevented the Leilani brainstem because I Abyssal Sighted the brainstem
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: out of his hand.
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: What's Abyssal Sight? Like, that's a good card. I didn't
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: have any of that.
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: I had good cards. But he did just, he just
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: tweaked me on Amber. And if he hadn't won out
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: on the turn he won on, I would have won
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: on the next turn maybe.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: No, he destroyed me. It wasn't even close. So my
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: first game was Aeon. I lost. Round two was Train Hoibo.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: I won.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: Round three was Magic Duck. I believe I won. And
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: then round four was Riku, and I lost and got destroyed.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: So I believe I finished 2-2, not the 3-2. And
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm good. I got two wins. I'm 50-50.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Let's go. Because the deck just was not going to
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: make top eight. There was no question about it.
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I really thought I had a chance, but I
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: just couldn't keep it together.
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: We should do a quick shout out, though. So with
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: the 44 players for Sealed, Dr. Kidd, as you said,
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: did end up winning and taking the invite. Close Delpha
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: was the runner up and also took the invite to Worlds.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: Dr.
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: Kidd was playing... the Skyborn gigantic as well. He won
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: with a Skyborn gigantic. It was shenanigans.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Well, I will tell you that, uh, do sell us
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: also showed up in our cons. So, uh, two gigantics.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: What does, does that, does that a thing now? Um,
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: but for sealed, uh, to wrap up top four was
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: Brian go.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Go again.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: And then NHC 1109. So again, a lot of the
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: same names, top eight, Barry, uh, coming in, so great job.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: Emperor Riku?
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: Barry forgot to wake up, showed up two minutes before
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: the round was supposed to start, and literally had two
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: minutes to open his three decks, and then I was
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: standing there with him, and I sleeved pods, and he
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: just basically went, this one, this one, and this one,
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: and I looked at his pods, right, because I helped
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: him sleep, i'm like he's got no chance any top
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: eight what the heck.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: It was impressive uh so again barry riku uh dehong
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: and then not tonight so man two of the people
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: who were able to visit and enjoy uh thanks to
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: help from future self able to go out and make
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: that top eight had great showing And then, Drez, after
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: the vault, you, like, ducked out. You already said that.
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: You passed out. You were done. We got dinner.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: But, yeah, after that, I was done. Yeah.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: Sheep, where did we end up after dinner?
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: Everything after it is a blur. Is that the night
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: we went to the brewery?
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: Yeah, so that was Heart of Darkness. That's why I was.
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: I know we didn't eat there.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: We ate at like the quote unquote like food trucks.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: They weren't like food trucks.
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: Yes, yes. We all ended up over there where we
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: had the... It was like the modern thing in America
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: where it's those old warehouses or old big box stores
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: and then they're putting in basically a bunch of semi-permanent
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: food trucks inside.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: It was set up.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: Almost identically to that. And you could tell it was
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: intended for tourism a little bit because the prices were
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: a little bit higher than anywhere else. The food was good.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, my body was a kick-ass.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: But yeah, you could tell it was a little designed
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: to be like, oh, you want to try street food
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: tourists who's afraid to actually go to one of the
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: street food stands? Come over here.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: I just let my nose... I let my nose lead
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: me and it did not do wrong. It smelled so
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: good there and there was so much to be able
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: to get. And it was really funny because Dylan went
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: ahead and ordered something and I think ordered three and
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: ended up with like three large plate bowls versus three items.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: So there was a ton of food, but it was really,
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: really good. It was a great time. Uh, did you
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: guys go back then? I got separated. So I think
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: we did some shopping. We were in a random store.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: I want to say dress. I had like 10% left
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: on my battery. And I'm like, I'm going to go.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: Cause I want to get the street art for my family.
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: And I ended up going ahead and I'm like, I'm
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: not going to make it back. Cause it was, it
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: was like eight 50. And I'm like, I'm not going
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: to make it all the way there. without my battery dying.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: And then I'm going to have no idea of how
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: to get back to Saigon Hotel. So I booked it
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: to my hotel, grabbed a battery pack, headed out. And
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: so they had this really neat location that was next
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: to the post office. And the little alley had a
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: whole bunch of books, books and shops. It was primarily
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: based on literature and books. But in this alley, they
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: had some street vendors who were local artists. And so
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: for a very, very reasonable fee, they would go ahead
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: and they'd either take a photo of you or they'd
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: basically sketch you while you were there. And then they
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: would go ahead and color it in. And it was gorgeous.
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: And I want to say there are three different vendors,
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: but I loved one of them when we had gone
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: out on the first day. So on Saturday, I made
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: the choice to leave everyone and I went back. And
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: I made it. I rolled in basically at 9.59, 10 o'clock.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: Wherever it was, it was really, really close. And I
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: had hucked it all the way back to the hotel,
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: made it there. And I was really bummed because the
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: little cord was up saying that they were done. And
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, man.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: So.
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: I ended up making a choice that I jumped over
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: the rope because I saw the one vendor that I
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: had seen the day before and I wanted to be there.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: So I bounced over and I, she was, yeah, I mean,
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: she was like, well, but I knew that it was
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: going to take a day. Cause Dylan had basically, um,
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: got some photos and I knew it was a day
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: and we're going to leave a day later. And that's
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: why I left everyone on Saturday. So I literally stood
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: there and, and I brokered this deal. um, for two
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: beautiful photos. And, uh, she ended up delivering them Sunday,
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: Sunday night after midnight. Well, it would have been Monday
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: morning after midnight, um, to the hotel so that I
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: would have them. So it was a crazy story, but
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: after that made it back and it was a pretty
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: easy going night. Then I came back and got ready
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: for our con cause I was excited for our con. Um,
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: but I, that's, that's kind of where I finished up
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: for Saturday.
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, uh, after dinner, the kid and I
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: went and tried to sleep.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: I did sleep.
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: I did not.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: I collapsed. But, uh, yeah, I.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: Watched a lot of TV on my phone. And then,
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: like I said, I got at three in the morning.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: I just said, well, this isn't happening. So, uh, got up,
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: watch more TV, went for a run from coffee shop.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Coffee shop.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: Oh, I know why it took me so long, man.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: How did I almost forget that? So when I left
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: you guys, I knew my battery was dying. So I
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: put on directions back to the art location, which I
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: like for the most part new. And I felt comfortable
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: enough crossing the street and not getting hit by cars
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: at this point. Um, And somehow, because I wasn't checking
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: my phone all the time, I just kept going straight.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: And I am in this x-ray murder alley.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Except it's not a murder alley. It had to have
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: been the bar alley because I kid you not. There
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: had to have been five or six sets of bars
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: where the girls were all up front.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh, this is not the route that
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: I'm going, but I need to walk right through there
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: because this is now where Google tells me I need
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: to go. So I start to go down this alley. Now,
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: I am a white Caucasian in Ho Chi Minh City
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: with a beautiful baseball cap on telling me that I
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: am a tourist. And everybody wanted to bring me into
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: their bar. And these ladies were coming up to me.
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: And I kid you not, I had my hands like
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: windshield wipers up and down to like walking through. And
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: I made it through the first four groups. And at
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: first you're like, nope, nope, nope. Just like, they got it.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: You kind of just put your head down and you
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: keep walking. But by the time you hit the third
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: and fourth group, The girls are all swarming and there's
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: more of them. So they're blocking like front and back.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh, this is not good. So swiping
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: with my arms like windshield wipers. By the time I
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: get to the fifth group, I now have arms that
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: are on me like trying to grab my shoulder. And
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: my arm's like, no, must get the photo. Must get
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: the photo. I'm a horrible person. But I just kept walking.
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: I just kept saying no, no, no.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: They love you one time, Ewok?
