- 0:41Welcome back to a hamster with a blunt penknife the Doctor Who
- 0:45commentary podcast. I'm Jason Thompson, and I'm here
- 0:49with the, I've run out of superlatives at this point.
- 0:53Joe, I'm here would be shaking his head at me.
- 0:56Okay, I'm here with the pretty out of region.
- 0:58Okay, Joe Ford there he seems happy with that.
- 1:01So I'll take it superlative, I usually come out with that
- 1:08bollocks. How you doing today?
- 1:14I'm doing? I'm awake your present.
- 1:18Yeah I'm here. That's about as much as I can.
- 1:21I can admit to it the moment. Sir.
- 1:24What why are we here? We are here to discuss the evil
- 1:30of the Daleks specifically episode 5 of the evil of the
- 1:33Daleks. We've had a weird and wonderful
- 1:39imaginations of the Daleks that have involved Jamie trying to
- 1:42rescue a girl. And he seems to have finally
- 1:46reached where she's being held prisoner, except a Dalek is
- 1:50emerging. Jason may I ask you a personal
- 1:56question. Well, I don't see how I can stop
- 2:00you asking, it's doing a three and a half or three ish, our
- 2:11country. It's your tough because you
- 2:13know, like sometimes, you know, you immediately, how long that
- 2:16Darlin last plan one ended up being about eight hours, I think
- 2:20it was long. It was now I think it was that
- 2:22Six and a half hours or something like that.
- 2:24But it's very easy to say everything that's one and two
- 2:28and I have nothing left to say to us the end.
- 2:33It possibly is if anyone is listening and thinks we're
- 2:36repeating ourselves tough, frankly that me out, you know,
- 2:42it's easy to cram everything into the first couple episodes
- 2:45and then realize you got nothing left to say.
- 2:47But somehow we manage 12 episodes of master plan, so I'm
- 2:50sure we can do seven of With the joy of this one is it's all a
- 2:55transmogrifies as it goes along, doesn't it?
- 2:57So suddenly you're touching base with different time periods
- 3:01different sets of characters. So there's kind of always
- 3:04something to say. Yeah, it's not six episodes in
- 3:08the same seven episodes in the same place we've been to.
- 3:12We've been in 1966. We're now in 1866 and we're
- 3:16going to be heading off to skaro later, so an unspecified year?
- 3:20Yeah. That's never actually
- 3:23determined. Is it whenever we hit this car?
- 3:25Oh no. There's certainly some
- 3:27supposedly some time travel involved in it but we don't know
- 3:29exactly. When on skaro we are so you said
- 3:33to me in episode 2, the remember this time machine.
- 3:38All right? Because if we don't we don't we
- 3:40forget about it now for a little while but it becomes important.
- 3:44Again, later on. We ain't seen it since no.
- 3:47We haven't seen it since part 2 and we're not going to see it.
- 3:48This episode either. Wow, okay.
- 3:51Well I'm I know that anything about episode 5 so I thought we
- 3:55should jump in and have a look and see what it's got to offer.
- 3:57Let's do that. Oh let's do just that indeed.
- 4:03Who's can't listen I'll be okay. You I 4 3 2 1 if we pop please
- 4:10start, please start it started. Thank you watching in black and
- 4:17white. I am.
- 4:19Yes, I enjoyed the color animation, the color and wide
- 4:22screen animation. I especially enjoyed it on the
- 4:24big screen with some great people.
- 4:27What, what a day that was? Hmm.
- 4:29I was that was, that was fantastic.
- 4:32That was my first BFI event and I've been to every one of the
- 4:36Doctor Who Wants since the live reaction from that because it's
- 4:41fairly big, isn't it? That's animal.
- 4:44Hmm. Is other hand I can pack in.
- 4:46That's a couple of hundred at least.
- 4:48East, I would think so. Yeah.
- 4:50And and you sort of when the gags here and everyone's
- 4:53laughing, I don't know, this is something like it's confirmation
- 4:57bias, isn't it? You love this show and the fact
- 4:59that you're surrounded by all these people that love the show
- 5:02as well. Yeah, you should tingles it
- 5:06does. It's a whole new way of watching
- 5:07Doctor Who, which I've not really experienced before.
- 5:11Normally I watch Doctor Who on my own or with Zoe at home.
- 5:16Of course and I did in the early years of my fandom I did take
- 5:23part in a doctor who Club at school with about a dozen of us
- 5:26would sit and watch it. And that was, that was fun.
- 5:31But yeah, sitting and watching it with friends, but then on the
- 5:33big screen with loads of other fans is just amazing, amazing
- 5:38experience. So you know, I'll I'm going to
- 5:41in an earlier episode, you know, you managed to make a point by
- 5:44referring to a point though. Made in an earlier episode of
- 5:47hamster, a blunt penknife and now I'm going to do it exactly
- 5:50the same thing, but it was a point that was made by you.
- 5:54And that was when we did the surround go conundrum and you
- 5:58were talking about fandom responding to new episodes of
- 6:04Doctor Who, and how there is weight of expectation of
- 6:07everything to be. Absolutely.
- 6:08Bloody amazing. And of course it isn't.
- 6:11And so then suddenly there's a massive backlash or the joy of
- 6:14watching evil that Daleks is, is we all know this story.
- 6:18So there's no expectation about how good this story's gonna be.
- 6:22We know it completely. So we're all going in knowing
- 6:24exactly every fucking plot twist.
- 6:26Probably every line you said, you could bash out the script
- 6:29earlier the thing I might hold you to that later but you know
- 6:32what I mean? Like there is no massive
- 6:34expectation in what. So it's kind of like a safe way
- 6:38to experience it with other people.
- 6:40I do know what you mean, although I am going to
- 6:42contradict you slightly because I dunno I do know from what I've
- 6:49seen on Twitter and what I've got from talking to people that
- 6:51several of the people who go to these events.
- 6:53Haven't seen these stories before.
- 6:56I know, there were people in every one of them who their
- 6:59first time seeing that story so and it's great as a name and
- 7:05shame. These people I don't think I
- 7:08will know so but I do remember, I might have I was concerned
- 7:15when we Did the sea Devils because I had said how great it
- 7:17was to a couple of people who've never seen it before.
- 7:19So afterwards, I went up to him and I said did you enjoy it or
- 7:21am I in trouble? These people that are coming
- 7:25from the new series to the Classic Series.
- 7:28Yeah so as a you know, by this point, I've been a fan of Doctor
- 7:32Who for 30-something little allam years.
- 7:37I've seen excellent use of your bottom lip there.
- 7:40Yeah, I've seen or heard every episode of classic Who multiple
- 7:46This point and I know most of it backwards, you know, I can bash
- 7:51out all the story titles in order, the individual episodes
- 7:53from the William Hartnell era in order.
- 7:55And I can tell you the plot of any of the given stories.
- 7:58And, you know, it's it's great. And it's, I love going to these
- 8:04events knowing that there are people who haven't seen these
- 8:07stories that I'm so familiar with and it's always great to
- 8:10get people's reactions to them whether they like them or not.
- 8:14It's just nice to know that. There are people who are still
- 8:16coming to the series. Now, And it discoveries, it's in
- 8:21the sort of the debate as well, isn't it?
- 8:23It's fresh voices coming in with fresh opinions and a lot of
- 8:26these people are people have been brought up on Modern
- 8:28television, don't like watching. This know, this isn't cranky,
- 8:33but you know what I mean? When I say it's not cranky old
- 8:35black and white TV. No, I know exactly what you
- 8:38mean, and, you know, it's too, you know, some of these people
- 8:41were, were not born before the classic series finished.
- 8:46Some of these people were Some of these people came to it and,
- 8:51you know, watching the Christmas Invasion at the age of three or
- 8:54something like that and getting into it that way, and it's just
- 8:58it's great. I love it.
- 8:59And I really Envy these guys, the gold that they still have to
- 9:02discover. And Curious as to whether they
- 9:08watch some of the things that generally speaking a held in
- 9:11lower regard and what they think of them when they get for them.
- 9:15So when I first met phrase re still had a list of about ten
- 9:18stories that you've never seen in, Underworld was on that list,
- 9:21then he went and washed underworld and he went well, how
- 9:23was pretty good what's everyone going on about?
- 9:25You know Marjorie has got he's got a thing about defending
- 9:28turkeys, though. That Fraser well, I hope you're
- 9:34not referring to the Dominator turkey.
- 9:36I love the dominators I was undisclosed, but you can see the
- 9:42world and the world for me was just that it wasn't the CSO sets
- 9:46that were the problem for me with underworld.
- 9:47It's the fact that after episode 1, I found it boring.
- 9:51My God, the Imagine coming to evil of the Daleks.
- 9:55I watching this animation and this weird and wacky and scary
- 10:01and suspenseful and funny and beautiful.
- 10:04Awfully acted Story coming to life before your eyes will be my
- 10:08God. I'd love I, in a way, I almost
- 10:11want my memory wiped, so I can go back and experience it all
- 10:14again, and that's a stupid thing to say, no, not at all.
- 10:17I would love to come to some of this stuff new, but you say
- 10:22that, Dave Rennie asks, has animating the story deepened,
- 10:26its classic status or has it made us realize?
- 10:28It's not as good as we thought. I certainly didn't have that
- 10:33effect on me the latter. It, it isn't deep in it because
- 10:36II thought it was great. I thought the animation was
- 10:39great so I still think it's great.
- 10:42Yeah, I say the same. I was already pretty much in
- 10:46love with this story but I'm not blind to its faults.
- 10:50But I don't think the fact that it's an animated has changed
- 10:53that because those faults aren't visual their slot which is
- 10:58basically already Apparent from the audio.
- 11:01So but like, you know, like a lot of Doctor Who stories.
- 11:05If you saw pull a thread, the whole bloody thing is going to
- 11:07unravel. But seam to seam, I think this
- 11:10is pretty peerless. This sequence now where is
- 11:13hypnotizing? Molly the sound effects and the
- 11:16music and everything, it's just it's hypnotic, it's great.
- 11:20It is yeah. And Mariah scoring has a
- 11:23gorgeous voice. Hey gasps, you're worried like
- 11:25you said absolutely inspired by a casting and you know, as much
- 11:29as I think he's a raving madman with a bizarre motivation.
- 11:36He acts it excellently. Oh he does.
- 11:39Absolutely. And there's a certain thing I
- 11:41said in episode two This is an absolutely amazing piece of
- 11:44casting because Maria scoring was such a well-known film and
- 11:47TV star and said founding member of equity and all that sort of
- 11:52thing. So this was this was big casting
- 11:54for Doctor Who in the 60s and what you've got here is you've
- 11:57got sort of absolutely reliable our hands like him and obviously
- 12:02younger newer fresher Talent like the woman who plays Molly,
- 12:07yes, which it falls high for people like that.
- 12:09Yeah. Yeah, it's definitely a z-plasty
- 12:13cop. So I know it's a couple times
- 12:15but I will not stop saying it because it's true.
- 12:18It's brilliantly, cast this story.
- 12:20Really is I don't think anyone drops the ball at all.
- 12:24I think they all know that they're doing something amazing.
- 12:29Might be the last, you know, that fellow that comes in and
- 12:31does the Dalek Emperor voice. Ask it if I Skelton.
- 12:36Yeah, I could not detect Zippy there at all.
- 12:40No, one of the rare occasions when you can tell it's him.
- 12:43Doing the dark Falls has encountered heavy resistance.
- 12:47You can hear it quite a bit sometimes sometimes you can
- 12:50definitely but yeah, Mariah scoring.
- 12:53I mean, Mariah scoring is what he doesn't get mentioned in the
- 12:57same way but if you watch this story, he makes as many flow.
- 13:03See these lines as William Hartnell ever did.
- 13:06Yeah. But no one ever picks up on
- 13:07those. He called water-filled
- 13:09Whitefield in one of them in one episode.
- 13:12No, I one is enough sir. So, you know, Fair dues and, but
- 13:16it's because it's sort of holding a bit bumbling as well.
- 13:18Really? So I feel like, heart know.
- 13:21Yeah, well, but as I've said before, when defending William
- 13:24Hartnell one is, and the fluffs that he makes, it everyone makes
- 13:27fluffs. That's that's natural dialogue.
- 13:29We all say things slightly wrong.
- 13:33So I think we both dunelm today's recording at one point,
- 13:36you know? I'm sure we have.
- 13:37Yes, I'm sure we will continue to do so terrible actors, it
- 13:41just means we're tired. Okay.
- 13:45I'll pour off as hell. Is this where he's sending him
- 13:47off now? Yeah.
- 13:50Okay, you're look. You've stole the plot for an
- 13:52episode. Now you can bugger off, but he
- 13:56sending him to a secret passage that leads into the room that
- 13:59Victoria is in to grab Victoria because so you still have been
- 14:04rescue akane, Victoria. Actually rescued yet.
- 14:07Okay, I'll tell you a story about Deborah Watling because
- 14:10she tells wonderful stories about.
- 14:12I'm a doctor who I am. I mean, whatever I think of her
- 14:15as an actress she is she's very entertaining to listen to and
- 14:21she's not coming which documentary is.
- 14:23I think it's somewhere on the what was the set?
- 14:26They did lost in time when they put all the missing bits
- 14:28together. She's going.
- 14:32Well, you know, they're asking me to say, oh, no.
- 14:36Oh, Jamie. Oh, help lower.
- 14:38That she's kind of, sorry. I did that.
- 14:40I did that. And then, you know, they're
- 14:42making me scream and scream at dialects and so I did that.
- 14:45Yeah. And then you, I don't Jamie came
- 14:47in this Wars film, its walls filled.
- 14:48I'm here to rescue you. You know, quick up your passage.
- 14:53Well, I'm sorry. I'll just fill about, I couldn't
- 14:55handle it anymore. You gotta remember, I don't have
- 15:02is a different character. This is the ear of the Avenger
- 15:04girls in it. Hmm.
- 15:09Yeah. Is the doctor with his human
- 15:14factor capsules and the three dialects in packing cases.
- 15:17For some reason, I wonder where this is gonna go.
- 15:23Okay, well, because it's gonna hit fairly soon or quite yet,
- 15:26but fairly soon. Is this the way that you know
- 15:30what? Yeah, where they come out.
- 15:31And they are the playful. Childish, doctor Daleks, he says
- 15:36the weirdest Dalek seen in the series entire arm.
- 15:41Oh, I think so but inspired and Brilliant at the same time
- 15:46because it is so out of left field, you do not see it coming,
- 15:51so it makes for one of the best Cliffhangers I think certainly
- 15:55in this cereal, if not in the series, as a whole see there.
- 16:00And it does it kind of add some weight to what we've been
- 16:02through in the last episode, doesn't it sort of extract all
- 16:05of those good and playful impulses?
- 16:09So there was a reason for the all alone.
- 16:11Those set pieces in episode 4. Hmm.
- 16:17It is a bit weird, though. That Dalek that just said, oh,
- 16:19you finished have you right? Okay, well, just let us know
- 16:22when you're done and he clears off.
- 16:26So that none of the actual Daleks, the ordinary, Dalek
- 16:29Daleks actually see what happens to these three human factor
- 16:32Daleks at all, which is rather bizarre.
- 16:35Because here's a fact that would give away the climax to them,
- 16:38you know, on the store all trousers vicious here isn't it?
- 16:46He says it was too late. You know the second you stole my
- 16:49Tardis and you know got me on the center of all this the
- 16:53second doctor here is the probably the least clownish.
- 16:55We've Seen him. Yeah, I'm probably the least
- 16:58clownish. We will ever see in this story,
- 17:03I love it when the lad drops away though, because he's so
- 17:06good at the comedy. When he's really serious acting
- 17:09in that pit in web of fear, where he suddenly talking about
- 17:12the great intelligence right up to the camera.
- 17:15Yes. Yeah.
- 17:18He's he's brilliant, he's trout. And yeah.
- 17:24Someone think Twitter. Let's have a look on the Twitter
- 17:27while we're on this subject. Deb Jones says love this one.
- 17:30Can't decide if the doctor is being his most human almost
- 17:33alien. IE his so easily.
- 17:35Throwing Jamie under the bus in particular.
- 17:39That's a good question, is I say most alien I think Jamie doesn't
- 17:47quite like there, whatever connection there is between
- 17:50them, it's sort of severed here. It is, and it has to be rebuilt
- 17:56in the later episodes. And it's almost like David
- 18:00Whittaker is writing the doctor more as the first and the
- 18:03second, mmm, going back to the original.
- 18:08The very original time when we weren't sure about the doctor,
- 18:11he wasn't unequivocally, the good guy and the hero and he was
- 18:18And I spiky in a bit dismissive of his human Companions and yeah
- 18:23it is something they lean into it because iím not long ago.
- 18:27Did a commentary on Tomb of the Cybermen where the second doctor
- 18:30make some very questionable choices.
- 18:33Oh, very much so. Yeah, that's that's another one
- 18:36of those stories. It's a bit like this one, in
- 18:38some respects in, it's great but the plot makes no sense
- 18:40whatsoever. But the set pieces and the
- 18:42acting kind of make up for that, but he's entirely responsible.
- 18:46Full for the one getting in the tombs.
- 18:48So, getting into the base and then to get down into the tombs,
- 18:52I'm not so, okay. So everyone's murdering the
- 18:54story is on your, on your hands, you know?
- 18:57Well, you say that, but, you know, once you figured out the
- 18:59Cybermen were there, if he'd left them, perhaps they have
- 19:03figured it out themselves and ended up allowing the Cybermen
- 19:06to emerge. So, I kind of like it you know I
- 19:10kind of like it when he's a bit mysterious and unknowable and
- 19:15his motives are bit muddy. Oh, I love it when the doctors
- 19:18like that, and I like it when he's got a bigger motivation
- 19:26than just the people. He's with like when he's for
- 19:28example, in the silurians and the Sea Devils, when he's more
- 19:30interested in sorting out the piece then, actually, dealing
- 19:33with the humans. Yeah.
- 19:35And you know, things like that. But in her mom, you're in a
- 19:40secret passage to over that bit in the war games.
- 19:44Where it appears. I think we're ever convinced
- 19:47that the doctors gone over to the other side and sold out all
- 19:49of his friends. I don't think that was ever a
- 19:53moment that was convincing as that I don't think we could ever
- 19:56believe that because we already knew that the aliens are
- 19:59planning to drop a bomb. And so he was just going to have
- 20:03to get them there because that's the only thing he could do.
- 20:04I don't think we were ever can be.
- 20:06No. Does that more convincingly
- 20:08Chase? Sin is Pertwee in Clause of
- 20:10axles. What?
- 20:11He's such a bastard to everyone and he goes well, goodbye Joe.
- 20:14I'll miss you and then he just throws a look at the Brigadier
- 20:18guts up for the master hope. Here we got Jamie having a sword
- 20:22fight with Arthur Terrell. Which they didn't do too bad, a
- 20:28job on the animation on these on these fight scenes, really.
- 20:32And this would have been over budget for this story in 11, a
- 20:34lot of sets if they're following the animation to what was in the
- 20:38story. Hmm, and the really detailed as
- 20:41well. The, the backgrounds on this
- 20:45okay, so we have a little fight and then we'll get rid of Terror
- 20:48because Yes. I do like it when he's the
- 20:55muscle, you know, and are not talking for kinky reasons.
- 20:58I just think I know exactly why is there a was?
- 21:01He was a warrior, wasn't he was a fire.
- 21:04He was, he gets a really good fight scene in the protons.
- 21:06Oh yes. Well, filmed as well as well.
- 21:09Yeah. This bit was took me a while,
- 21:13but I suddenly realized how hard this was Ruth and Molly have
- 21:16running and Ruth says, oh go and fetch the doctor.
- 21:20Ruth hasn't actually spoken to the doctor at all in this story.
- 21:24So why would she automatically assume that?
- 21:26The doctor should be the one that Molly goes to fetch?
- 21:31We have to assume they've had an off-screen conversation.
- 21:34I think we must all this is right and then the doctor says,
- 21:38doesn't it right? Gasps it gather your stuff.
- 21:41Get out of here? Yes, it's not the whole house
- 21:44blown up, it does. Get blown up later on.
- 21:47Yes. Yeah, that's a bit extreme,
- 21:49isn't it? As Daleks their scorched-earth
- 21:52policy, you know? Yeah.
- 21:55Definitely. But no, I like this.
- 21:57I like this sequence with the doctor who comes in and just
- 21:59says, do you want to save this man's life, right?
- 22:02Then get him away. Do what I say?
- 22:04Yeah. but essentially it's just been fucking about with all the
- 22:10Terrell just to just to do it, you know, like Yeah, it's all of
- 22:17it. It's all a bit weird.
- 22:20The whole Alpha Terrell subplot is one and it is it Max of all
- 22:24doing it? Not just the Daleks isn't it?
- 22:25Because when you hear that song, Help, hey you in the ground?
- 22:31Yeah. Yeah, strange very strange.
- 22:38Is a bit, it's a bit odd, but never mind.
- 22:41China, One thing that is very strange to in a commentary on
- 22:43this is not hearing the music. I'm so used to the music in this
- 22:47story. It really does add an extra
- 22:51layer of Brilliance to this story.
- 22:53That music is superb on these. You can't hear that, wonderful
- 22:57little da, dun, dun dun, and there goes out of the house and
- 23:05out of the story altogether and now, some more Attention between
- 23:09the doctor and Jamie. Yeah.
- 23:13Now, randomly Victoria is somehow unconscious in the
- 23:16laboratory with that glassware, still bubbling away.
- 23:22Look, Lex has a closed now. No, not just yet.
- 23:36It's a bit over there. That's why they of over the
- 23:39black characters in the 60s. Is it the camels death is
- 23:45actually the one of the clumsiest I think when we will
- 23:48talk about that when we get there but it's just it's almost
- 23:51an afterthought. So like totem is deaf in Tomb of
- 23:57the Cybermen is unfortunate, but at least like there's a plot
- 24:03purpose behind it, you know, he and he gets sort of the hero
- 24:06moment. Yeah.
- 24:11Yeah, there we go. Off we go Victoria and camel,
- 24:14and a Dalek going through the Hall of Mirrors.
- 24:16So I have to start really lay there, heading to skaro.
- 24:20That's when Jamie having a bit of a Barney now, Yeah, we see we
- 24:26thought we talked about this earlier.
- 24:27I wouldn't mind a little bit more of this though a little bit
- 24:30by. Oh my God.
- 24:31You know, we get a lot of that with Davison and adric and it
- 24:34gets really tedious. I think it all depends on how
- 24:38you how it's written in. This is one of the most Probably
- 24:45in the classic series. Certainly this is one of the
- 24:47best written arguments disagreements between the
- 24:50companion and the doctor, what we don't go there very often do
- 24:56a we don't, I think you've got, you know, obviously there's some
- 25:00disagreements. I mean, there's Barbara's
- 25:02fantastic, tearing them off a strip in edge of Destruction
- 25:04which is Jesus. You Oughta get down on your
- 25:08hands and knees and back because I love that bit that's
- 25:11marvelous. You got Stevens.
- 25:14Discussed with the doctor for abandoning and sharply in the
- 25:17massacre, huh? God.
- 25:20Keep going, you're reminding me of all these amazing B.
- 25:23And you've got this, but I think after this, there's not so many
- 25:28disagreements that aren't just companions being petulant about
- 25:32not being taken home or You know, it's they don't seem to be
- 25:38quite the Hefty. Disagreements.
- 25:40Yeah. Well, I really like Ian's you
- 25:44old fool. You had to see the city in the
- 25:46dialects I really like I want as well.
- 25:52Okay, here we are the three Daleks have emerged Jamie's,
- 25:56appalled that they're coming alive in talk to ghosts.
- 25:58Don't worry Jamie their friends. Yeah.
- 26:04It's a good thing. He's very confident in his own
- 26:06plan here because it is yeah, this is, this is bizarre.
- 26:13Is but I thought I'm just The Voice work as well.
- 26:17Yeah, that's sort of Singsong voices that they have.
- 26:21I was taking him for a ride. Don't worry, Jerry, they're
- 26:28playing trains. Taking me for a ride.
- 26:33The one thing that is a bit odd about this Cliffhanger.
- 26:35I always thought, even when I heard the audio cassette is that
- 26:37it doesn't finish with we're taking.
- 26:39They're taking me for a ride. It smacks table going, a rather
- 26:41amusing, the whole Game, don't you think Jamie as far as rarest
- 26:46of things this it's upbeat Cliffhanger, mmm.
- 26:51But yeah, Daleks are playing games.
- 26:54What is going on? I know that that is a really off
- 27:00be ending but I don't use it is and I love it.
- 27:07Try to think of of another example.
- 27:11Where is a lot? Like I totally sort of deploy is
- 27:15hinging in a totally weird Direction and The Cliffhanger
- 27:20isn't a moment of danger or suspense.
- 27:23Yeah I should have I should have reviewed my Twitter fresh
- 27:27footage of time. I mean I suppose it's not quite
- 27:32to the same level but the gun Fires Episode 1 which ends on a
- 27:35massive soul. But then the doctor is about to
- 27:37walk into the bar and, you know, and his head blah.
- 27:40A standoff. Yeah, that's quite there.
- 27:43That's quite an old one. Well I thought well after I
- 27:47think between between episodes so I think we will.
- 27:50Yes, what let's just say is utterly unique.
- 27:54Oh definitely. Is it one of your favorite man
- 27:59of the Cliffhanger Twitter Fred. It is actually.
- 28:03Yeah. Is one of my favorites.
- 28:05What did you get this out in? I can't remember.
- 28:08I have to go back and really what between episodes.
- 28:12I'll go back and review my thread and see what I rated all
- 28:14the Cliffhangers for this story. Oh, I'm just going to say thank
- 28:17you very much for a second because I did ask you in our
- 28:20first recording. If you would please keep going
- 28:22with those Cliffhanger friends. And you have been so thank you
- 28:25very much. Yeah, I have indeed, I think I'm
- 28:27up to horror of fang Rock now. So I've got to go to listen.
- 28:32Bankers. In our of Iraq.
- 28:34I've locked it in here with us full.
- 28:36That's a terrible Cliffhanger. Oh, are you mad?
- 28:39Oh my God. This is literally, this is like
- 28:41having a live rat at your Twitter fridge.
- 28:45It's a terrible Cliffhanger. We know he's locked it in.
- 28:48This is just the doctor catching up.
- 28:50We might, first of all, we know that the creature in because
- 28:53we've seen it throughout the episode, secondly, if he's
- 28:56locked it from the inside, then no one's locked in.
- 28:59They can unlock the door and get out and thirdly at this.
- 29:02Point. We've also seen this creature,
- 29:03get out through a window and climb up the outside of the
- 29:06lighthouse. So, being locked in, is
- 29:08irrelevant guys. This is why those frayed is
- 29:11gold, all right, okay. That's quite a celebrated Cliff.
- 29:15Oh, you know, he is, but I think it's badly.
- 29:18I think it's badly misrepresented, Tom Baker, plays
- 29:21it superbly Cliffhangers that you absolutely adore.
- 29:25It will Savage him, but all those ones you think are a bit
- 29:28iffy. He's got a great reason for
- 29:29loving them. But the horror of fang, Rock
- 29:33episode 3, terrible, terrible Cliffhanger.
- 29:36Tell me you like the invisible enemy episode 1, where the
- 29:39doctors got that gun on Lila and he's going down the corridor.
- 29:42I do like that way on. Yes the image of the doctor
- 29:45pointing a gun at his command. Panties.
- 29:49Yeah, I like that one. Well, look after all this Cliff,
- 29:53I got Hulk. Let's see how this non
- 29:55Cliffhanger is resolved. Shall we?
- 29:57Let's do that. Okay, bang, okay.
