- 0:05Speaker 1: Yeah, uh uh you know, really uh you know, really
- 0:11Speaker 1: uh really hard for it game. You know, credit uh
- 0:16Speaker 1: you know credit uh you know, credit over you know,
- 0:20Speaker 1: for you'll find them a way to you know, to
- 0:23Speaker 1: win it. I thought we uh you know obviously you know,
- 0:28Speaker 1: you shoot, you shoot fifty four percent from the.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Field, and you make ten threes twenty three assists.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Uh. Obviously the turnovers hurt us cause we were you know,
- 0:38Speaker 1: pretty efficient when we didn't turn the basketball over, you know,
- 0:42Speaker 1: but we knew it was gonna be a tough game.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And just you know, I feel a lot better.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Uh, I feel actually a lot better sitting in here.
- 0:51Speaker 2: They did after the Providence game, even though the uh
- 0:54Speaker 2: reality will hit probably would have been a bus.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Around the airplane, uh that this was just a loss.
- 1:00Speaker 1: But uh, we were a shall of our selves, theirs
- 1:02Speaker 1: Providence in a home game, and uh you know I thought,
- 1:06Speaker 1: uh the way we responded, uh, you know, getting down
- 1:08Speaker 1: twelve and you having chances, uh you know, to to
- 1:12Speaker 1: win uh to win here. Uh, it's proud of the effort.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I don't think many people are gonna win here uh
- 1:18Speaker 2: or beat this team, you know, at home this year.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I think that's a really good team. Uh.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Obviously Dixon is a bundle and popular, you know, opper hooks,
- 1:30Speaker 2: but one of the best players in the league too.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So tough loss. But uh, how to win, uh against
- 1:36Speaker 1: good teams in this league, I don't know.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure you'd take Alex two free throws and
- 1:41Speaker 2: few second stuff nine or nine percent of the time.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Or yeah, it's just yeah, not anyone explain it, or.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Just yeah, I mean, listen, it's you know, you're he's
- 1:49Speaker 2: the he's the winningest player in college basketball. He's the
- 1:51Speaker 2: biggest winner in in all of college basketball. Uh, and uh,
- 1:58Speaker 2: you know it's it's uh, I guess it's just kind
- 2:01Speaker 2: of you know what when you've had uh you know,
- 2:04Speaker 2: the incredible moments, the fairy tale uh you know, the
- 2:08Speaker 2: fairy tale back to back national champion, coming back for
- 2:11Speaker 2: the third.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Uh, it's like life.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Sometimes you gotta go uh you know, sometimes you you
- 2:17Speaker 2: gotta each hit and you know, like sometimes you know
- 2:20Speaker 2: you're gonna have bad moments. His first two years in college, Uh,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know, it was was It's been a fairy tale.
- 2:27Speaker 2: But my advice to him will be I love the
- 2:29Speaker 2: way he attacked the game. I loved the way uh
- 2:32Speaker 2: he wasn't passive.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I loved the way he he he.
- 2:35Speaker 2: He wanted the ball at the end of this game
- 2:37Speaker 2: and wanted to make the plays and wanted to be
- 2:39Speaker 2: that guy for us.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So, you know, uh, I love that kid to death.
- 2:43Speaker 2: He's the biggest winner in all of college basketball, like, uh,
- 2:47Speaker 2: you know, men's and women's. He's the biggest winner. You know,
- 2:50Speaker 2: maybe South Carolina may have somebody over there or something.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But uh, what I told him to do though, is,
- 2:56Speaker 2: you know, he feels sad tonight, just get off the
- 2:58Speaker 2: UH bus or get back to campus and I'd do
- 3:00Speaker 2: what I did after Now, we'd just pull your uh,
- 3:02Speaker 2: your your box and rings out and maybe just kind
- 3:04Speaker 2: of play with your back to back national championship rings
- 3:07Speaker 2: and get ready for Georgetown.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Did you feel like he has Solo sh needed to
- 3:11Speaker 1: be a little more sertive in the second half out
- 3:13Speaker 1: to them if them be too many shots in the
- 3:15Speaker 1: first Yeah, I mean, I yelled at uh I, I
- 3:17Speaker 1: I was uh. I was very disappointed in how Alex
- 3:20Speaker 1: started the game. He took three shots at in the
- 3:23Speaker 1: first half. Hassan had taken no shots in the first half. Solo,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you know, so Solo was passive.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Uh. I mean Jalen Stewart obviously, we're we're thrilled with
- 3:33Speaker 2: the way he played, and that's encouraging, uh, both in
- 3:36Speaker 2: the short term and the long term. And we get
- 3:38Speaker 2: Liam back, and if we can get if we get
- 3:40Speaker 2: Jay Steue playing at that level, then UH, Liam's injury
- 3:43Speaker 2: becomes a uh a positive once we get a full strength.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But you know, this is a good time to play
- 3:48Speaker 2: us uh with Liam out, And it's also too, it's
- 3:52Speaker 2: an opportunity, you know, for see some of these other
- 3:55Speaker 2: guys that developed like uh, like Jalen.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Stewart, CA, what did you want to see more from
- 4:01Speaker 1: Jalen in the second half?
- 4:04Speaker 2: I mean he wasn't givena score twenty eight. You know,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I thought he played a great game. I thought he'd
- 4:09Speaker 2: you know, played thirty one minutes. Jalen Stewart, you're asking
- 4:11Speaker 2: me that, Yeah, I mean he had fourteen points on
- 4:15Speaker 2: uh you know, on nine shots. He guarded the best
- 4:18Speaker 2: offensive player in the country to start the game and
- 4:22Speaker 2: in a lot of spots and uh, and then at
- 4:25Speaker 2: that best offensive player in.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The country that you know did go six for twenty
- 4:30Speaker 1: in the game.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So I I don't uh, I couldn't ask for more
- 4:33Speaker 2: from Jalen Stewart. I think, uh, that's gotta be a confidence.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Building for him. And and again long short term right now,
- 4:42Speaker 1: you know this week, we knew it was gonna be tough.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Winning at Georgetown's gonna be tough. Any game with leam
- 4:46Speaker 2: Al is gonna be tough. Uh, But if we could
- 4:48Speaker 2: see some development from some of these sophomores, that's gonna
- 4:52Speaker 2: bode well for us.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Tell you go doing the visions. Is that like a
- 4:56Speaker 1: lean would frink you from getting done? Or is that.
- 5:01Speaker 2: You're asking me how you could in a game avoid
- 5:03Speaker 2: going down double digits.
- 5:04Speaker 1: No one we're saying out like you do this?
- 5:08Speaker 2: Is it like you just tell the team like okay, guys,
- 5:11Speaker 2: we can't get down like double digits when or yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 2: I I would say, like our defense w which I
- 5:19Speaker 2: thought actually minus getting like driven by by Poplar like
- 5:25Speaker 2: rip baseline, Like we still got beat off the dribble
- 5:28Speaker 2: a little bit too much. But that's one of the
- 5:30Speaker 2: best offensive teams in the country. If you had have
- 5:32Speaker 2: told me that we would hold Dixon to six for
- 5:35Speaker 2: twenty uh, they would shoot forty three point six, you know,
- 5:38Speaker 2: like forty four at home, especially at this pavilion here,
- 5:42Speaker 2: they'd only shoot forty four percent from the field.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You know, we obviously we failed a little bit too much.
- 5:48Speaker 1: But you know, our defense isn't right now good enough
- 5:52Speaker 1: for us to not kind of go down and have
- 5:54Speaker 1: runs against us. You know that's why. Uh, it's probably.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Not familiar for you guys to see us get down
- 6:01Speaker 2: by Donald's. You were sorry for being starkey, you were.
- 6:04Speaker 3: A complimentary of the beforehand, and and obviously now yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 3: for for people that might just think it's Eric Dixon,
- 6:10Speaker 3: he was one of being the first at you know,
- 6:11Speaker 3: all the other guys played well, what what can you
- 6:14Speaker 3: tell people like, hey, this team is not just Derek Dixon.
- 6:17Speaker 2: No, those guys are good. I mean p you know,
- 6:19Speaker 2: Brickis is really good. I mean, park Kiss is really good.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Longino is finally healthy. You know, he's a really good wing.
- 6:25Speaker 2: A Poplar is an NBA wing. Dixon's one of the
- 6:29Speaker 2: best players in the country. You know, I I I,
- 6:34Speaker 2: you know, I love Perkins as a as a as
- 6:35Speaker 2: a shooter off the bench.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Obviously he's a nice piece. Uh. They got enough out
- 6:40Speaker 1: of cent out of their centers.
- 6:41Speaker 2: You know, obviously they they're there they passed the look
- 6:44Speaker 2: test of an NCAA tournament team. You know, they're obviously
- 6:47Speaker 2: gonna have to win a lot of games in the
- 6:49Speaker 2: Big East to make up for you know, like the
- 6:51Speaker 2: the Columbia game.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And and and the Saint Jum's game. But that's you
- 6:54Speaker 1: can't tell me that that's not a team, that that's
- 6:56Speaker 1: an NCAA caliber team, Uh, with one of the best players.
- 7:00Speaker 3: In the country and coming into the same So I did,
- 7:02Speaker 3: did Bill that was show anything differently that if you
- 7:04Speaker 3: were Washington team coming into tonight.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I they're they're obviously the the offensive
- 7:11Speaker 1: system it is is much different, you know from from
- 7:15Speaker 1: j and then Uh, obviously what they did with Kyle
- 7:19Speaker 1: the stuff they run I think is is is really good.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I think you know, they're really what they do with Dixon,
- 7:24Speaker 2: the way they move him around, uh all over the court.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I think it's really really hard to guard. I think,
- 7:30Speaker 2: you know, Poplar and Brickers, they run really good stuff
- 7:33Speaker 2: for their for their best players.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So they got three guys that could really score plus
- 7:37Speaker 1: a long gino.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But it yeah, it it's uh you you I it's
- 7:42Speaker 2: a much different, uh system.
- 7:44Speaker 1: To prepare for that.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Did you did you what Tim who came into a
- 7:47Speaker 3: really good job for you and you said this is
- 7:49Speaker 3: a good time to get you right now?
- 7:51Speaker 1: What are you? What are you looking for?
- 7:53Speaker 2: You trying to drag me into if it's coming, cause
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm not gonna do that.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'd actually thought about it. You've got have got us
- 8:00Speaker 1: before he gets now. Uh, I'm not gonna go back
- 8:03Speaker 1: to the well.
- 8:04Speaker 3: But what are you looking for right now that as
- 8:06Speaker 3: you're trying.
- 8:06Speaker 1: To Yeah, I mean for us, it's just listen, I
- 8:09Speaker 1: I if they played without if they played without Dixon,
- 8:12Speaker 1: they played tonight without pop where or if Mark v
- 8:15Speaker 1: plays without Cam Jones. I mean that that's what Liam
- 8:19Speaker 1: McNeely is for us. So you know, if you would
- 8:22Speaker 1: have told me, uh, you know, come in here versus
- 8:24Speaker 1: that team, that we'd have a chance, you know, to
- 8:26Speaker 1: you know, to win that game late. Uh I I
- 8:29Speaker 1: I'd be thrilled with that.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Uh for us, you know, while Liam's out, we just
- 8:33Speaker 2: we've gotta find a way, you know, to to develop
- 8:36Speaker 2: the young guys that we need to develop and then
- 8:38Speaker 2: win enough of these games so that we're not demoralized
- 8:41Speaker 2: when he gets back.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Do well, you were you were in h totally happy.
- 8:44Speaker 3: If this sounds first if you talk about the energy
- 8:46Speaker 3: your hispanis yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I mean we need that from him, you know when
- 8:49Speaker 1: you're uh you know, the when you're the quarterback. Uh.
- 8:53Speaker 1: You know, I thought in the first half he was uh,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know, just.
- 9:00Speaker 2: You know, not as engaged, not as assertive, not as
- 9:04Speaker 2: uh y, you know, the the general the leadership, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 2: you know, and then and then you saw the impact
- 9:11Speaker 2: he had in the second half. But when he's not
- 9:13Speaker 2: assertive trying to put pressure on the paint and and
- 9:16Speaker 2: create a little bit more, we just become this team
- 9:18Speaker 2: that's running around the three point line and uh uh
- 9:22Speaker 2: you know, he softened up our ability to get threes
- 9:24Speaker 2: by just putting some rim pressure, uh and being more
- 9:27Speaker 2: disruptive uh in the second half.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Thanks guys, all right, thank you guys, Thank you,
