- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sororiti Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:12Speaker 3: We're back to continue the conversation about work week. So
- 0:16Speaker 3: here's why Dirty Rush works is because we allow.
- 0:21Speaker 2: People to be anonymous when they need to be, so.
- 0:24Speaker 3: That they feel safe, secure, confident in telling you what
- 0:27Speaker 3: it really is, like work week Rush pledging initiation.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So we allow people to have real names, fake names.
- 0:36Speaker 3: We're okay with it because we want you to know
- 0:38Speaker 3: that what we're telling you is the truth. So what
- 0:41Speaker 3: we did as we're doing this series on work Week
- 0:44Speaker 3: this weekend, we sent two people, producer Evy and your
- 0:49Speaker 3: name Bella and Bella might be a fake name.
- 0:53Speaker 2: We sent Bella to Bama Rush.
- 0:56Speaker 3: So look, anybody who knows anything about Rush knows that suddenly,
- 1:01Speaker 3: a couple of years ago, out of nowhere, Bama Rush exploded.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It became the rush to watch.
- 1:06Speaker 3: It became the tiktoks to watch, It became the girls
- 1:09Speaker 3: to analyze, it became everything.
- 1:12Speaker 2: So we are boots on the ground this.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Season on Dirty Rush, and we are sending our team
- 1:16Speaker 3: all over the country to cover Rush, to cover work
- 1:19Speaker 3: week Rush and so on. So we are in a
- 1:23Speaker 3: secret retreat, as you guys know if you listen to
- 1:26Speaker 3: the previous episode, we are in a secret location on
- 1:30Speaker 3: a sorority retreat. Essentially, we have sorority girls from all
- 1:33Speaker 3: over the country here and we are bringing you these
- 1:39Speaker 3: dirty Rush episodes. So basically, we sent producer Evy and
- 1:42Speaker 3: Bella to Alabama. So first of all, what I want
- 1:44Speaker 3: to ask you guys, is immediately when you got there
- 1:47Speaker 3: and you started to sort of explore the town, So
- 1:50Speaker 3: is the university in Alabama?
- 1:54Speaker 2: What city?
- 1:57Speaker 1: It's in Tuscaloosa, which is like an hour outside of Birmingham,
- 2:02Speaker 1: which is the airport, right.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Okay, so this is the University of Alabama. And look,
- 2:05Speaker 2: I get it. If you're in Alabama, you're rolling your
- 2:07Speaker 2: eyes at what idiots we are. But there's people that
- 2:09Speaker 2: may not know that.
- 2:10Speaker 3: So you flew into Birmingham and then how far from
- 2:13Speaker 3: the airport is it to get to Tuscalooso where the
- 2:15Speaker 3: University of Alabama is an hour?
- 2:18Speaker 2: An hour?
- 2:18Speaker 3: And did you immediately when you get there feel the
- 2:21Speaker 3: sort of sorority energy?
- 2:23Speaker 1: Oh?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, tell me about it.
- 2:25Speaker 4: It's like right when I stepped foot on the campus,
- 2:29Speaker 4: I was like, all right, I get this whole Alabama thing.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Because I need more, Like what do you mean?
- 2:36Speaker 1: I think even when we like landed in the airport
- 2:38Speaker 1: and we're like waiting for our bags, we saw girls
- 2:40Speaker 1: who immediately like fit the bill, like you could tell
- 2:43Speaker 1: they were on their way to do work week that
- 2:45Speaker 1: they went to the University of Alabama. Like they were
- 2:48Speaker 1: wearing like Park malk necks and like athletist.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So they said, I can't write that down.
- 2:53Speaker 3: So they were wearing Park which I obviously understand. Park
- 2:56Speaker 3: Baknax is like the thing. Yeah, and did it feel
- 3:00Speaker 3: pink or is that like a legally blonde.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Like it's an im super pink but definitely like preppy,
- 3:06Speaker 1: colorful monogram.
- 3:08Speaker 4: And the things that they knew about, like what girls
- 3:10Speaker 4: wear to class, they were wearing, like.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Give me details. They're wearing Hooka sneakers.
- 3:15Speaker 4: They're wearing like either like an alo tennis dress or
- 3:19Speaker 4: kind of like a set like a like a tennis
- 3:22Speaker 4: skirt top set. Like everything's very put together, and they
- 3:30Speaker 4: have like monograms on their little ll bean toes or whatever,
- 3:33Speaker 4: like they have been planning to pack for So we're.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Not actually talking Gucci Dior Chanelle. No, it's leveled down,
- 3:43Speaker 3: but it is brand names. Yeah, and it is coordinated
- 3:47Speaker 3: and it is preppy.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I think what I came to understand is that like
- 3:52Speaker 4: the big like the Gucci and the designer and all
- 3:55Speaker 4: that stuff that you see on TikTok, Like, isn't it
- 3:58Speaker 4: Like I'm sure that's there, as it is at any
- 4:01Speaker 4: score any sorority, but it's not the focus. They've just
- 4:04Speaker 4: people online have made it the focus.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Okay, interesting, Okay, is it blonde or what was it?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Did you see extensions? Differently? It is blonde.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Every everyone's blonde tan long blonde, long blonde, like a
- 4:18Speaker 4: platinum blonde, right, blonde, bright blonde, bright tan.
- 4:22Speaker 2: We went into a tanning slawn everyone there.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Okay, I want to hear all about this. So first
- 4:27Speaker 3: I know you guys, did you take an uber? This
- 4:29Speaker 3: is where you've met?
- 4:30Speaker 2: Your first interview was later We were support was great, normal,
- 4:36Speaker 2: but just nothing on the rush scene.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Okay.
- 4:38Speaker 4: We actually we were kind of that first night when
- 4:41Speaker 4: we landed, we were kind of striking out. We took
- 4:45Speaker 4: a walk around campus. Okay, girls are getting ready for
- 4:48Speaker 4: work week.
- 4:49Speaker 1: We saw a group of girls talking to each other
- 4:53Speaker 1: like on Greek row like, and they were in different
- 4:56Speaker 1: houses we learned from listening in and they were like,
- 4:58Speaker 1: they were like, what are you doing tomorrow? Like one
- 5:01Speaker 1: of them and the other two were like secret.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Oh, like they're getting a secret with each each other.
- 5:06Speaker 3: And they were you stand out as like clearly you
- 5:08Speaker 3: don't got you don't go there, or could you blend?
- 5:11Speaker 3: Like maybe we can get in because we are young
- 5:14Speaker 3: and we look like sorty girls.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Well, Bella texted me when we were packing for this
- 5:18Speaker 4: trip and she goes, you know what are you bringing?
- 5:20Speaker 2: I'm like, prep you to the nine.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Okay, I'm bringing my you know, everything from And let
- 5:25Speaker 4: me say she nailed it. O my prints, you know,
- 5:29Speaker 4: your golden goose, sneakers or whatever you got.
- 5:31Speaker 2: We're gonna we're gonna look like we blind in.
- 5:33Speaker 4: And when we're walking around campus that first night, I'm
- 5:36Speaker 4: trying to scope out the scene and see like who
- 5:38Speaker 4: could talk to us and whatever, and they are already
- 5:40Speaker 4: looking at you a little like a right.
- 5:43Speaker 2: For the person listening for you listening.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Uh.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Our two reporters are in their twenties, so they do
- 5:50Speaker 3: they could pass easily for college students sorty girls obviously,
- 5:54Speaker 3: we're doing that intentionally because we're infiltrating rush and trying
- 5:57Speaker 3: to bring you like top secret information. All right, So
- 6:01Speaker 3: you when you get to the hotel, is it a sorority?
- 6:04Speaker 2: You know our sorority moms there? Did you feel that vibe?
- 6:08Speaker 4: So we could tell that people were already, like even
- 6:11Speaker 4: before classes or anything, had already begun.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Like work, we could not quite begun.
- 6:15Speaker 4: It was happening like the next day or the next day,
- 6:17Speaker 4: but pete girls were moving into the hotel.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Rushies there yet. Okay, so this is just sorority, just
- 6:24Speaker 2: sorority girls girls women. It was like people doing rush
- 6:27Speaker 2: who were like rushing. The p and ms were arriving,
- 6:30Speaker 2: so it was like sophomore girls, the sophomore junior seniors.
- 6:34Speaker 1: But what always interesting was in our hotel there was
- 6:36Speaker 1: all these girls that we kept seeing like moving big
- 6:39Speaker 1: ball because like unloading signs and we were like, oh,
- 6:41Speaker 1: like what are you guys doing like whatever? They were
- 6:44Speaker 1: on the panelonic board and they were running rush out.
- 6:48Speaker 2: We were staying up. We split you at the right hotel.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, this was definitely like the University of Alabama
- 6:54Speaker 4: hotel where people say or whatever. But you could tell
- 6:57Speaker 4: that moms were moving them into and everyone just has
- 7:00Speaker 4: a little bit of this air of skepticism or secrecy
- 7:03Speaker 4: or on their guard because I think they know that
- 7:06Speaker 4: there's just so much attention around their school. And even
- 7:09Speaker 4: we were walking around when the first night we got there,
- 7:14Speaker 4: and I just like saw a girl walking towards us
- 7:17Speaker 4: and asked her like, hey, you know, we're just we're reporters.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I was just like, oh, we're you know, we're Felow
- 7:24Speaker 4: Crority girls, but we work for this podcast and we
- 7:27Speaker 4: like would love to ask you a few questions. And
- 7:30Speaker 4: she was like, uh, I don't think I can say
- 7:33Speaker 4: anything to you. And we're like, oh, okay, are you
- 7:36Speaker 4: enjoying work week? And she's like, it's really chill, Like
- 7:39Speaker 4: it's chill. It's much more chill than the people say
- 7:41Speaker 4: that it is.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And what did all right? But it felt like that
- 7:44Speaker 2: was they're clearing the you.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Know, yeah, I think I guess my question is are
- 7:50Speaker 3: you seeing people making these tiktoks trying to be quote
- 7:54Speaker 3: TikTok famous.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Or does it feel like authentic rush.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I would say like the last day we were there,
- 8:01Speaker 1: like we kind of started seeing more of like the
- 8:03Speaker 1: actual work week, Like the girls like in their outfits,
- 8:05Speaker 1: they're like making tiktoks, like doing all that stuff.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But like before that, I don't know.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Well, we did hear from a P and M that
- 8:14Speaker 4: I asked her. I was like, have you been advised
- 8:16Speaker 4: at all on girls who are trying to get TikTok
- 8:19Speaker 4: famous or whatever going into rush? Like, gir no longer
- 8:23Speaker 4: did sororities want those girls? Like it brings on too much?
- 8:27Speaker 3: Okay, So that's interesting, right, I think that that had
- 8:30Speaker 3: its moment and it does seem to be changing, and
- 8:33Speaker 3: maybe a new school will become.
- 8:35Speaker 2: That, right.
- 8:36Speaker 4: They actually said they're like, I think Oklahoma's your school.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I've heard that that Oklahoma is the
- 8:42Speaker 3: new Bama Rush.
- 8:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And also like to compare it to a show like
- 8:46Speaker 3: The Bachelor. Right in the early seasons, you got more
- 8:51Speaker 3: authentic people because there was no Bachelor famous, right, and
- 8:55Speaker 3: then you get these sort of trying too hards because
- 8:58Speaker 3: they're not there for the reasons which it sounds like
- 9:02Speaker 3: these you know, potential rush rushies and the actives are
- 9:08Speaker 3: trying to just have.
- 9:09Speaker 2: A cool sorority.
- 9:10Speaker 3: All right, So you hop in this uber and tell
- 9:13Speaker 3: me a little bit about this Uber driver that you.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Guys spoke to. Mama was his story? Was she in
- 9:19Speaker 2: a sorority?
- 9:19Speaker 6: Like?
- 9:19Speaker 2: What was her story?
- 9:21Speaker 4: I mean, we like hit the jackpot with our first Uber.
- 9:25Speaker 4: We're feeling a little depleted from the night before, like
- 9:28Speaker 4: getting so rejected.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah, reporter is a tough beat. I know it's there.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Even the Uber driver.
- 9:35Speaker 4: From the night before, Like she wasn't giving us much
- 9:37Speaker 4: like shit, okay, all right, And we get in the
- 9:40Speaker 4: car and we're like and we tell her what we're doing.
- 9:44Speaker 4: You know, we're here, but we're trying to be soft with.
- 9:45Speaker 2: People, so maybe they tell us. She starts off and
- 9:48Speaker 2: she's she's got a Tumblr that says Mama Cy and.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Her license plate says mama And we're like, so, what's
- 9:55Speaker 1: the deal, Like, what's Mama Cy? And she's like, I
- 9:58Speaker 1: am the number one Uber driver in the world. And
- 10:03Speaker 1: at first I'm like, is this self proclaimed?
- 10:06Speaker 2: That's good?
- 10:06Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 10:06Speaker 2: No, she pulls it up.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Uber has also awarded her as the number one Uber
- 10:11Speaker 1: driver with over sixty thousand rides.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Irrelevant, irrelevant, but like, good for you, Momacy, you rock.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Then why did she tell you about sorority?
- 10:19Speaker 6: She said?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Born and raised in Tuscaloosa. It's beautiful, beautiful. She was
- 10:25Speaker 2: in a sorority. She was a fine you know, well,
- 10:27Speaker 2: we go, how what are you doing in Tescalusa? How
- 10:30Speaker 2: are you getting all these rides whatever?
- 10:31Speaker 4: And she's like, I do all the sorority transportation in Ubers.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I'm a main uber driver. Did she go to Alabama?
- 10:38Speaker 4: Yes, she goes, I went to University of Alabama and
- 10:40Speaker 4: I was I'm from here.
- 10:41Speaker 2: He was top house there. This is what we learned.
- 10:44Speaker 2: And she goes, I was a fine meal. We go,
- 10:46Speaker 2: is that the top house?
- 10:47Speaker 4: And she goes, well, it's the only white house on canvas?
- 10:51Speaker 1: So all no, sound, son't wait, let us explain. Let
- 10:54Speaker 1: us explain suddenly, let us it is like physy painted
- 11:00Speaker 1: white outside of the physical five ye sorority house, while
- 11:04Speaker 1: all the other ones are brick brown.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So it stands out a law on campus already looks prestigious.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Before you know, that is beautiful there, I mean there
- 11:13Speaker 2: must be effect. We'll get that. We'll get to that,
- 11:16Speaker 2: all right. Your conversation with Mammasy roll it.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Would you say you were telling us, but the reason
- 11:22Speaker 4: why a lot of you know, girls are just hesitant
- 11:24Speaker 4: to talk about and talk to us right now.
- 11:26Speaker 2: It's because of everything that happened with Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 5: I feel like it just because it gets such a
- 11:31Speaker 5: name on TikTok that everybody's just hasn't it because they
- 11:33Speaker 5: are told, you.
- 11:34Speaker 8: Know, not to say anything, not to do this, you know,
- 11:36Speaker 8: just basically do your you know, get ready with me
- 11:38Speaker 8: and call it a day and don't really say anything else.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you're just held to like higher standards just to
- 11:44Speaker 5: make it more fair for everyone.
- 11:47Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 2: And do you think maybe that.
- 11:50Speaker 4: They're probably also worried that something gets picked up or something,
- 11:54Speaker 4: you know, they just don't want anything.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Well, they don't want to focus on them because if
- 11:57Speaker 5: the focus is on them, then it's a risk for
- 11:59Speaker 5: the chack to.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Take them mm, got it.
- 12:03Speaker 8: So and you don't want social media at risk. There's
- 12:05Speaker 8: too much.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Involved in that.
- 12:06Speaker 2: So absolutely.
- 12:07Speaker 4: And and is it the case where they would go
- 12:10Speaker 4: right to standards if if some if someone did say something.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Or oh, I would say definitely, well they would take
- 12:17Speaker 5: they would go straight to jayboard first, and then straight
- 12:20Speaker 5: it would get straight to panelantics.
- 12:21Speaker 8: Well, OK, and they take that very serious.
- 12:24Speaker 5: Our girls are very good, they're jayboard girls, and our
- 12:26Speaker 5: fo guys are very serious. About it, and they pick
- 12:29Speaker 5: up on everything, got it, So they are very they're
- 12:33Speaker 5: on top of it. They're some of the most restigious
- 12:35Speaker 5: girls on campus, so they are really really on.
- 12:36Speaker 8: Top of it, right.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, even the girls that we talked to
- 12:39Speaker 4: seemed like when I went up to someone to the
- 12:41Speaker 4: sheep right outside the hotel, she was on Panelinic and
- 12:44Speaker 4: they seemed really buttoned up and.
- 12:46Speaker 8: Ready to go. And that's the thing is like, the
- 12:49Speaker 8: quatter you are, the better chance that everyone has.
- 12:51Speaker 5: And that's what I always say, Like, you don't want
- 12:53Speaker 5: to put a girl in that standard. You don't want
- 12:54Speaker 5: to put her in that position, especially because if you're
- 12:56Speaker 5: from like just a California and you're coming to Alabama,
- 12:59Speaker 5: you're already are like, she'll shocked, so you don't know
- 13:02Speaker 5: what to expect, and then you get here and then
- 13:05Speaker 5: you're just that seven days is just miserable.
- 13:07Speaker 8: Every day one hundred degree heat, ninety five percent humidity.
- 13:10Speaker 8: You're hot, you're sweaty, you're miserable, and then you're going
- 13:12Speaker 8: in there and then you're just it's just a lot
- 13:15Speaker 8: of information to take in.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Yeah, So I would say, yeah, I mean, I feel
- 13:19Speaker 5: like it's fair to everyone, but I do feel like
- 13:20Speaker 5: it is.
- 13:21Speaker 8: It's very cut through all right.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much.
- 13:25Speaker 4: So Mama Sy, right, that's how everyone knows you number
- 13:30Speaker 4: one uber in the world.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Thank you so much. You gotta love Mama Sy. First
- 13:34Speaker 2: of all, she's got the voice, she really does. We
- 13:37Speaker 2: didn't make any of this up. You can't fake you
- 13:40Speaker 2: hit the jackpot with that. We just kept letting her talk. Great,
- 13:44Speaker 2: I love it all right. So where was Mamsey taking you?
- 14:02Speaker 7: So?
- 14:02Speaker 4: We had been recommended this boutique, Papoori, okay, and we
- 14:08Speaker 4: saw it online too.
- 14:09Speaker 2: We like, they got this TikTok that went viral.
- 14:11Speaker 4: All their stuff looked so cute, very Bama rush like,
- 14:14Speaker 4: we got to get there.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So we walk in and then we're a little confused
- 14:19Speaker 2: because we're like, this is a furniture store. Oh that's interesting.
- 14:23Speaker 2: But then it's so good.
- 14:25Speaker 4: The other woman pipes in, she's like, are you looking
- 14:27Speaker 4: for Papoori And we're like yeah, and she's like over here, y'all,
- 14:31Speaker 4: And then we walk over into it's like the back
- 14:33Speaker 4: of this furniture.
- 14:34Speaker 9: It's like pretty friendly and nice, so nice, so nice,
- 14:37Speaker 9: and the people who are like don't want to be
- 14:39Speaker 9: associated with you like not speaking or like the sweetest
- 14:43Speaker 9: like like somehow to deliver it in.
- 14:45Speaker 2: The sweetest way. You can't even be master if this
- 14:48Speaker 2: is your first reporting assignment you've ever been given in
- 14:50Speaker 2: your lives or have you previously reported on things let's say, yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 2: they're like, yeah, producer Evy, you reported on things before. Yeah,
- 14:58Speaker 2: I've I've reported on before so and in college too.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So you do you talk to the woman at this boutique, lindsay.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So, then we get to the back of the furniture store.
- 15:08Speaker 1: We meet Lindsay and another sales associate who's very nice,
- 15:12Speaker 1: who goes to the university.
- 15:13Speaker 2: How do they get action in the back of the
- 15:14Speaker 2: furniture store.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Her sister in law owns the furniture store.
- 15:19Speaker 2: And then Lindsay she sends people to the back. Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 2: she says, I.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Mean it's a very nice, upscale furniture store that has
- 15:25Speaker 4: like multiple rooms and then there's the back for all
- 15:29Speaker 4: the dresses.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And so you walk into this back boutique and is
- 15:32Speaker 2: it like sorolreaty closed, like.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Love to the brim, like perfectly curated for every round
- 15:38Speaker 1: of rush for anything Alabama, Like you're like perfect, perfect
- 15:41Speaker 1: like Prame Day, Prince Bright fun and.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Are we talking expensive expensive or no?
- 15:47Speaker 4: So what I've found about because when I hear boutique,
- 15:51Speaker 4: I think pricey, But what I found about Southern boutiques
- 15:55Speaker 4: is actually they kind of like like and I'm not
- 15:59Speaker 4: flaming in a web, like they dupe. I've noticed that
- 16:02Speaker 4: they duped something that would be like on Revolve or
- 16:04Speaker 4: maybe like that's like Mesa or farm Rio or whatever,
- 16:08Speaker 4: like a brand that might be more a little high end,
- 16:11Speaker 4: a little high end, and they kind of dupe it
- 16:14Speaker 4: and maybe it feels a little different whatever, but it's
- 16:16Speaker 4: the same look.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and so it's kind of fan yeah, good, good good,
- 16:21Speaker 2: you know, whole thing and like.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Three people probably doesn't need to do. But I think
- 16:25Speaker 3: they would have anthropology dresses.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Right, that kind of thing, where like it's similar styles
- 16:30Speaker 4: or shapes that are recognized with.
- 16:32Speaker 2: A price point more like a fifty dollars.
- 16:33Speaker 4: It was like probably like the dress like under one hundred,
- 16:37Speaker 4: under one hundred, like cute like night like I don't know, yeah, all.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Right, so what so and lindsay talk to you guys,
- 16:44Speaker 2: oh yeah, and we're like do you own the store?
- 16:46Speaker 4: She's got this cute sales associate TK who talk.
- 16:49Speaker 2: To all the sorority girls in there.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Well what she did tell us is she
- 16:54Speaker 4: was like, what we found about the University of Alabama,
- 16:56Speaker 4: there's Old Row and Newro kind of with the arority.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Mamma See said, she talked a little bit about Okay, yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 1: Old Row, New Row.
- 17:04Speaker 4: And and it just basically means Old Row is for
- 17:08Speaker 4: some people might have more prestigialized because it's just like
- 17:11Speaker 4: it's like the Ivy leaks, Like it's more they've been
- 17:13Speaker 4: around the longest at Alabama.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And then there's New Row. But they're still like really
- 17:19Speaker 2: popular sororities in New Row. But I think those are.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Is about the houses on those streets, not like the
- 17:26Speaker 3: restaurants or stores.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Oh sorry, Rich sorority for the White House. The final
- 17:34Speaker 2: So let's.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Listen to a little bit of what Lindsay told you, guys,
- 17:37Speaker 3: so give me again. Like what she was explaining, like
- 17:40Speaker 3: about the sorority girls coming into the bea.
- 17:42Speaker 1: She's like more Old Row sorority girls typically like the
- 17:45Speaker 1: styles in our boutique as they lean a little more
- 17:49Speaker 1: conservative preppy.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yeah, the Old Row.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And New Row dressed differently. A little bit different vibes.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I guess my question is are there top houses on
- 17:59Speaker 3: both Old Row and New Rock?
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 18:01Speaker 4: So that like Zeta House that got that went TikTok
- 18:04Speaker 4: viral and whatever. They're a New Row interesting, but it's
- 18:08Speaker 4: more of the girls like from out of state, like
- 18:10Speaker 4: I think like Old Rows, Like like even Mama Ce
- 18:13Speaker 4: was like where She's like, I'm from Tuscaluso.
- 18:17Speaker 2: What do you think I was in Old Row? Got it?
- 18:20Speaker 2: What's rolrity? I'm you got it? Okay, all right, got it?
- 18:23Speaker 5: All right?
- 18:24Speaker 2: So let's let's take a listen to Lindsay.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Okay, So I'm here with Lindsay from Papoori Boutique.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Hi, Lindsay, come on talk Okay, So tell us about
- 18:35Speaker 2: your store.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Okay.
- 18:37Speaker 10: So we're a little clothing boutique in tesclose to Alabama.
- 18:41Speaker 10: We're located in sad lampot Is Living, which is like
- 18:44Speaker 10: a high end decorating store, and we're hidden in the
- 18:46Speaker 10: back like towards the right hand corner, and we just
- 18:49Speaker 10: sell a bunch of cute little like rush dresses and
- 18:52Speaker 10: game day dresses for Alabama to the girls on campus
- 18:57Speaker 10: and locals here in town and Tuesclosa.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Have you gotten to know the girl, like the girls
- 19:02Speaker 4: who live here in town really well to know what
- 19:04Speaker 4: they would like.
- 19:05Speaker 10: Yes, So we definitely have a lot of local shop
- 19:08Speaker 10: with us and then a local a lot of local
- 19:10Speaker 10: girls that are in school at Alabama. For those that
- 19:15Speaker 10: are like going through rush, we have a bunch of
- 19:18Speaker 10: cute little rush outfits. Normally here in Alabama, they do
- 19:22Speaker 10: like mini dresses and not a lot of midi or
- 19:24Speaker 10: maxi just because it's so hot in the summer, so
- 19:27Speaker 10: we try to stock up for a lot for them. Yeah,
- 19:31Speaker 10: and just for the various different days that they go through.
- 19:36Speaker 10: So yeah, that's I would definitely keep.
- 19:38Speaker 2: That in mind.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Yeah, when it market when you when you find you
- 19:42Speaker 4: like find that some sororities shop here more than others,
- 19:45Speaker 4: or you've gotten to know certain sororities more than others.
- 19:48Speaker 8: For sure.
- 19:48Speaker 10: We definitely have certain girls and sororities that like us
- 19:54Speaker 10: that could time we're I guess yeah, they're drawn to
- 19:57Speaker 10: us more. It's definitely more the old row.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Oh, everyone come in to be for your all your
- 20:03Speaker 4: rush needs love it all.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Right, So I guess, uh, are you really now that
- 20:10Speaker 3: you're sort of immersed in Bama Rush. Seeing girls everywhere
- 20:14Speaker 3: really experiencing Bama.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Bama is like, these girls do not stop hop girl walking.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I think they probably hot girl walking. They are tell
- 20:26Speaker 2: me what that girl walking? They are in their hookahs,
- 20:29Speaker 2: in their pink workout sets from three people Lululemon.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Ala with their balla bangles which are like handweights or.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Wait and best pause every So this is the girl
- 20:43Speaker 2: the sorty girls.
- 20:44Speaker 3: This is their sort of daytime outfit as they're walking, exercising.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Yep, talking talking those bank when you said the Bengals,
- 20:53Speaker 2: what was lalla.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Beangals, They're like they're this brand of like cute looking
- 20:58Speaker 4: hand weights.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Or like, what is that the way you get my
- 21:00Speaker 2: upper arms? Yeah? Like like or you can put them
- 21:02Speaker 2: on your ankles. I'll try it, all right, So these
- 21:04Speaker 2: guys you'd like them, I might have them. I think
- 21:08Speaker 2: I might. So if I put those on my wrists
- 21:12Speaker 2: while I walk, is my upper arm gonna get more?
- 21:14Speaker 2: You might have to like go like this, But I
- 21:15Speaker 2: feel like you kind of already.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Do you see the little stuff while you're walking? Okay,
- 21:18Speaker 1: there's a little ten minutes.
- 21:19Speaker 3: So you're seeing these girls out walking looking hot.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I was just like Bailey.
- 21:26Speaker 4: I can't even like they just keep coming because I
- 21:29Speaker 4: was trying to get like a video in front of
- 21:30Speaker 4: the houses and I was like, just wait till they go,
- 21:32Speaker 4: and then they just kept coming and they're all looking
- 21:35Speaker 4: at me.
- 21:35Speaker 2: So it feels like there's hundreds of girls. Yeah, and
- 21:38Speaker 2: all they do is walks Barbie land. That's okay, this
- 21:41Speaker 2: is interesting. So they kind of have a bar Barbie
- 21:43Speaker 2: vibe during work.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Week, like only the girls have really started moving in,
- 21:47Speaker 1: like some people obviously were there.
- 21:48Speaker 2: But did you see a girl that has brown hair? Yeah?
- 21:52Speaker 2: For sure, Okay, yeah, okay.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Multiple it's not like, oh my gosh, like it's only
- 21:57Speaker 1: definitely very all the blondes you're seeing.
- 22:00Speaker 2: It's not like a California one.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Oh it's white, white with extensions twenty foot or twenty
- 22:08Speaker 4: inch whatever, and it's like a straight, straight look more
- 22:13Speaker 4: like a little bit of like a wavy curl.
- 22:15Speaker 3: This is probably an inappropriate question, but look, we're keeping
- 22:17Speaker 3: it real. Similar body types or are you seeing different bodies?
- 22:22Speaker 2: Is there any diversity? There is something. I think there's
- 22:25Speaker 2: more like diversity. It's in the South, so it's not
- 22:28Speaker 2: just one body.
- 22:29Speaker 1: The girls are like pretty fit, but I wouldn't say
- 22:31Speaker 1: it was like, oh like any nation like okay, it
- 22:34Speaker 1: was pretty like normal.
- 22:35Speaker 4: And they got some great barbecue down there, like okay,
- 22:39Speaker 4: off the queue.
- 22:40Speaker 3: So so speaking of looking beautiful, so you guys decide
- 22:44Speaker 3: we're going to hit a tanning salon.
- 22:46Speaker 2: It's right next door of the boutique, crucial part of
- 22:48Speaker 2: any college canvas, especially Bama for sure.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Like common girls are you know, we're like, oh formal,
- 22:56Speaker 1: like go to this bratan it spray tan not back.
- 22:58Speaker 5: You know.
- 22:59Speaker 2: It's interesting.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Until this very moment I was thinking tanning bed. I
- 23:05Speaker 3: literally didn't realize we're talking spray tans for something. When
- 23:08Speaker 3: you guys said tanning salon, the fifty year old in
- 23:11Speaker 3: me thought, these people are laying in tanning beds. They
- 23:13Speaker 3: got it, they're spray tanning. Yeah, so well that's why
- 23:17Speaker 3: I've never I've never been tanning.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Bed in my life. I'm yeah, okay, I don't do you.
- 23:21Speaker 3: All spray tan at your schools and the sorty girls
- 23:24Speaker 3: that are not on the air right now, raise your
- 23:27Speaker 3: hands if you get spray tans.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Our one fraternity.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Boy okay, so in college day I got tan and
- 23:37Speaker 3: our fraternity boy, Michael if you listened to our episode
- 23:40Speaker 3: earlier also Spray Tank.
- 23:42Speaker 6: They don't.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, so do you comes.
- 23:47Speaker 3: You go into the Tanning Salon and did they talk
- 23:49Speaker 3: to you?
- 23:50Speaker 2: They will.
- 23:51Speaker 4: We kind of like pitched it as like oh we
- 23:53Speaker 4: and we'll promote your salan too well here and they
- 23:55Speaker 4: were just trying to get off the ground, like there's
- 23:57Speaker 4: members better play.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Shoot glow salon g l O and they had an
- 24:04Speaker 1: amazing and it said glow tide everything great in Alabama
- 24:10Speaker 1: every not sorry, let me rephrase in Tuscaloosa, such a
- 24:14Speaker 1: college town. Everywhere you go, sometile weaves in glow tide
- 24:19Speaker 1: like Alabama, something like an elephant whatever.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Or it'll just say Todd tied with go to like
- 24:25Speaker 2: I said that.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Okay, So you go into the Tanning sloan bless them
- 24:28Speaker 3: roll Tide, glow Tide.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Beautiful, huge salon over thirty rooms, dirty emphasize. Remind you
- 24:36Speaker 2: of Ross Pivot Ross Uh.
- 24:39Speaker 3: When he got the four and the four you guys
- 24:41Speaker 3: don't know from friends from the two, he forgot to
- 24:46Speaker 3: turn got the two again, and then he went in
- 24:48Speaker 3: again to try to even it out and got another two.
- 24:50Speaker 2: So it was now he's a six. Oh my god,
- 24:52Speaker 2: and he's like so orange.
- 24:54Speaker 3: So anyway, tell me what tell me the gist of
- 24:57Speaker 3: what they had to say in the Tanning slot.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Well, we talked to a girl in there who was
- 25:02Speaker 4: just about to rush. So that was a great, great
- 25:05Speaker 4: girl to talk to. But they were also like trying
- 25:07Speaker 4: to sell some member.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Sure.
- 25:08Speaker 2: No, she talked to you a little. She talked to
- 25:09Speaker 2: us on tape. Oh wow. Okay, So you go in
- 25:12Speaker 2: the Tanning salon and there were customers in there getting
- 25:15Speaker 2: prepped for rush rushies or actives rushies. Wow, and I
- 25:20Speaker 2: kind of thought it was like actives.
- 25:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 2: But the girl we talked to was about to go
- 25:23Speaker 2: into rush.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, okay, so you guys were able to actually
- 25:26Speaker 3: get a girl who's about to go through Bama Rush.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 2: And she was lovely all right, we will not give
- 25:32Speaker 2: her name. The greatest Rush mindset.
- 25:35Speaker 1: If anyone is needing a mindset refresh before going into Rush,
- 25:39Speaker 1: I would.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Definitely listen up amazing advice.
- 25:42Speaker 4: I asked her point blank. I was like, what sorty
- 25:45Speaker 4: do you want to be? And like, what's the top
- 25:47Speaker 4: sorority here? And she goes, Honestly, I have no idea.
- 25:50Speaker 4: I haven't even looked it up.
- 25:51Speaker 5: Wow.
- 25:51Speaker 1: She's like, I made a conscious effort to not view
- 25:55Speaker 1: like that. When she sees a TikTok, She's like, I
- 25:57Speaker 1: try to scroll like whatever. She's like, I'm just really
- 26:00Speaker 1: trying to go into an open mind and see where
- 26:01Speaker 1: I find go.
- 26:02Speaker 3: To listen to her, and we have altered her voice
- 26:06Speaker 3: to protect her.
- 26:07Speaker 7: Where are we right now?
- 26:08Speaker 6: We're at Low Tanning and Tuscaalosa, Alabama. Love it? Okay?
- 26:12Speaker 6: So do you?
- 26:13Speaker 7: Is this like the main spot where all like sorority
- 26:16Speaker 7: girls get their TEMs. So we're trying to be We

- 26:21Speaker 6: So we're done in.
- 26:22Speaker 7: Our likes here, so love it. We offer a little
- 26:26Speaker 7: bit more than anything else in town.
- 26:28Speaker 6: So okay.
- 26:28Speaker 7: And do you go to Alabama or are you okay?
- 26:32Speaker 7: We're kind of evenly split between Alabama and Shalotte. God,
- 26:35Speaker 7: I love Rising Sophomore.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Okay? Are you an a sororitiot? No, I'm rushing this
- 26:39Speaker 6: fat Oh my.

- 26:49Speaker 7: I'm so excited it's going to be a lot of people,
- 26:51Speaker 7: but it's gonna be like Barbie Land, just so.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Much of girls. I mean, you look like a.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Barbie Like when is every I feel like all the
- 26:58Speaker 7: girls that work in here, everyone I'm seeing leave or
- 27:00Speaker 7: like blonde haired like.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Tan skin, Yes, we know everybody going? Is that?
- 27:06Speaker 5: Like?
- 27:07Speaker 7: I feel like I've seen like on social media be
- 27:10Speaker 7: like they got like sec five like they like.
- 27:15Speaker 6: Yeah, thing, it's a thing like you're just like everyone
- 27:18Speaker 6: just go blonde and tan and cross. Actually a lot of.
- 27:24Speaker 7: Interesting Okay, Okay, So what do you will tell you
- 27:26Speaker 7: about Russia?
- 27:27Speaker 6: You excited about it.
- 27:28Speaker 7: Or do you?
- 27:29Speaker 6: Yes? I can't wait. I'm really excited to meeting people
- 27:32Speaker 6: be able to talk about talking. Yeah, that's gonna be fun.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Okay, Amy, I have a question for you. Okay, good.
- 27:38Speaker 4: What do you think an unlimited membership tanning membership costs
- 27:43Speaker 4: in alabam in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
- 27:45Speaker 2: So that means you could tan any time you want,
- 27:47Speaker 2: anytime you want. You could do four services per day
- 27:50Speaker 2: every day. This place also does all this u V
- 27:52Speaker 2: stuff I know other day.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I think that's going to cost you, and I am
- 27:55Speaker 3: I giving you a monthly number, monthly number fundred fifty
- 28:01Speaker 3: dollars fifty bucks if you share it with a friend,
- 28:03Speaker 3: so it's like one hundred each.
- 28:04Speaker 2: So me and Bella could go in on it.
- 28:06Speaker 3: So for one hundred dollars, you could go to Tan
- 28:09Speaker 3: as many times as you want, up to four times
- 28:10Speaker 3: a day.
- 28:11Speaker 1: But they also have hydra body facials like other wellness things,
- 28:16Speaker 1: massage chairs, so you can do four services in one day,
- 28:19Speaker 1: so you could go every day and a.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Lot of people get the full membership. Yeah, yeah, I
- 28:22Speaker 2: mean I think the smart money is on that one
- 28:25Speaker 2: hundred percent.
- 28:26Speaker 4: When I would get a spray tan in La, it
- 28:28Speaker 4: cost me eighty bucks a pop, and.
- 28:30Speaker 2: This is fifty dollars unlimited services.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Yeah, massage chairs, there was a massage, petties hydrah.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I did get a many petty there though, massages at
- 28:39Speaker 2: the same place, at this Globe place. No, this was
- 28:41Speaker 2: a different place. Oh in Alabama. And then you're getting
- 28:44Speaker 2: ready for rash All right, well okay, so I.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Am excited that business. After this you found the boys
- 28:52Speaker 3: well done.
- 28:53Speaker 1: So then we were like after a long, hard, frivolous day, frivolous.
- 28:59Speaker 2: It was pretty frivile reporting Bella's like I am really
- 29:01Speaker 2: embracing my new job as a reporter.
- 29:04Speaker 1: We were like, we need dinner, and I was kind
- 29:06Speaker 1: of like I could do, Like I don't even know.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Did I want Mexican food? I don't remember. I just
- 29:10Speaker 2: dude in Tuscaloosa. So first night I knew I wanted
- 29:14Speaker 2: some barbecue. Okay, I saw not name it because it
- 29:18Speaker 2: wasn't my favorite.
- 29:19Speaker 4: And this is the kind of establishment where you go
- 29:21Speaker 4: in and they hand you a menu and.
- 29:24Speaker 2: A made of wonderbread. Oh yes, but the menu is sticky,
- 29:29Speaker 2: probably like it had barbecue sauce on it. Huh yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 2: authentic fun. Yeah, it was good before you had jam hands.
- 29:36Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 29:37Speaker 1: And then this night, though the food or lunch was great.
- 29:40Speaker 1: The next day I thought the sandwiches, oh yeah, hub whatever, So.
- 29:44Speaker 2: You guys are out eating on the dirty rush dime.
- 29:48Speaker 2: But I did not cost a pretty penny. Everything there
- 29:51Speaker 2: was quite cheap. College town. That's pretty sonyway. We did
- 29:56Speaker 2: not go hungry.
- 29:57Speaker 1: We did some TikTok research, as one does to find
- 30:00Speaker 1: the best restaurant.
- 30:01Speaker 2: We should go to.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Okay, great, so we got onto your talk and I
- 30:04Speaker 1: found this place called Taco Mama.
- 30:07Speaker 2: We go, We walk there to save some money.
- 30:10Speaker 3: We want, oh say thank you was not available to
- 30:17Speaker 3: we just needed the exercise.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Yeah, jar Barbic, I mean Bell over here was feeding
- 30:21Speaker 4: a burrito and I was feeding a frat boy conversation.
- 30:25Speaker 2: So here we got to love that you found the boys.
- 30:26Speaker 1: So it's a great vibe Margarita's frat boys.
- 30:30Speaker 3: And I did get a great picture which we should
- 30:32Speaker 3: post of producer Evvy talking to the boys and we
- 30:36Speaker 3: have their backs, which I loved, so we can protect
- 30:38Speaker 3: them but still show you guys the photo. And we're
- 30:40Speaker 3: gonna have a ton of photos on our Instagram.
- 30:43Speaker 2: What is our Instagram? Dirty Rush podcast podcast great.
- 30:47Speaker 3: From Bama Rush. You know Bama Rush work Week. Uh
- 30:51Speaker 3: so were you asking the boys their hot take essentially
- 30:55Speaker 3: on Sorority Rush?
- 30:56Speaker 2: Yeah, great, tell me a little what they said, then
- 30:58Speaker 2: we'll take a listen to them.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Well, it's the perfect dynamic because I went up to
- 31:02Speaker 4: this table of Frapp boys and I just knew they're
- 31:05Speaker 4: wearing khaki shorts and the T shirts whatever, and they're like,
- 31:09Speaker 4: oh my god, this guy's your guy. He's the student ambassador.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Oh and then his friend comes down. He's like, and
- 31:16Speaker 4: it's my birthday. And he was drink and I was like,
- 31:19Speaker 4: this is great, good cop, backup, sit down, right, And
- 31:24Speaker 4: so I started asking them the questions, and you know,
- 31:26Speaker 4: you first, I'm learning how to be a journalist.
- 31:28Speaker 2: You first asked him like, what do you guys do
- 31:29Speaker 2: in here? How do you like taco mama? Yeah?
- 31:32Speaker 1: And and they're like I overhear them like telling her
- 31:35Speaker 1: their order.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Whatever it takes to get your story.
- 31:42Speaker 4: So I'm talking. I'm like, I I mean, I'm just
- 31:44Speaker 4: loving Alabama. The vibes are great. I can tell why
- 31:47Speaker 4: you guys love this school, Like, you know, tell me
- 31:49Speaker 4: about Greek life here?
- 31:50Speaker 2: What do you like it? Whatever? Going into it? And
- 31:51Speaker 2: then I started asking like, well, if you had.
- 31:54Speaker 4: To choose, like, what do you think the top sorority
- 31:57Speaker 4: would be here?
- 31:58Speaker 5: Right?
- 31:58Speaker 2: An ambassador? Guys like, I'm going to hand that off
- 32:00Speaker 2: to this Paneliniki kind of impartial.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's like doesn't want I think he gives
- 32:06Speaker 4: like it's probably like a.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Tour guy take aside, right, Yeah, And the other guy's like,
- 32:11Speaker 2: Kyo's my wife. Oh, Kyo's my wife. Kyo's my wife.
- 32:16Speaker 2: We got to just roll the clip here movie, let's
- 32:18Speaker 2: take let's listen to these these fellas.
- 32:21Speaker 4: So I'm here at Taco Mama, like he would, you
- 32:25Speaker 4: guys say, this is like the hottest Mexican.
- 32:26Speaker 8: Place, the best Mexican place in town.
- 32:29Speaker 2: So you're in a fraternity here.
- 32:31Speaker 6: We are in a fraternity here.
- 32:32Speaker 4: So do you feel like it's just like blown up
- 32:34Speaker 4: in the last few years with like Fama.
- 32:36Speaker 10: Rush, Well, probably going back to like seven four, five years.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Five years, it was a really big deal. Especially a
- 32:47Speaker 2: lot of the documentaries in that place. They out of
- 32:49Speaker 2: the water.
- 32:50Speaker 5: I would say personally that was a not an accurate
- 32:53Speaker 5: representation of what we are as a Greek live community.
- 32:55Speaker 4: All Right, you guys, thank you so much, and say,
- 32:58Speaker 4: my conversation with those two is just made my night.
- 33:01Speaker 2: They were great.
- 33:02Speaker 4: Then I think they went off and partied and celebrated
- 33:04Speaker 4: number two's birthday for them.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Also, just to really give people an inside look to
- 33:08Speaker 1: the atmosphere in Tuscalu. So we are here on a
- 33:11Speaker 1: random Monday night. School is not in session. This is
- 33:15Speaker 1: a random restaurant we find and it is fully packed.
- 33:18Speaker 1: People are drinking. It's like a great time on this randomie.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Did you get the vibe that these kids are having
- 33:24Speaker 3: a great time at college at Bama.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I think, like the perfect picture to explain, like I
- 33:31Speaker 4: really understood like this school breeds school spirit because the
- 33:36Speaker 4: Theta house practically backed up to the football stadium.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Oh wow, you couldn't be in.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Your sorority room, walk down the stairs and do a hop,
- 33:47Speaker 4: skip and a jump and you'd be in the football stay.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I went to Cal, and we have that same situation
- 33:51Speaker 2: at Cal, not at UCLA.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Ucla, unfortunately you have to go like on a two
- 33:55Speaker 3: hour bus ride to the football game.
- 33:57Speaker 2: You take like, yeah the road to help.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Ladies for your first sorority college reporting job. Bravo, well done,
- 34:21Speaker 3: You've got the story. You got your story. So to
- 34:25Speaker 3: sort of wrap things up, what is your kind of button?
- 34:30Speaker 3: Your two cents on work week at Bama because we
- 34:34Speaker 3: really are re covering work week. We wanted to learn
- 34:38Speaker 3: a little bit about the school and why it's become
- 34:39Speaker 3: so TikTok famous.
- 34:41Speaker 2: But do you feel like they're working hard during work week?
- 34:46Speaker 2: I think they're working very hard.
- 34:47Speaker 1: It seemed like a lot of work was put in,
- 34:50Speaker 1: like the houses are so pretty and all the decorations
- 34:52Speaker 1: and stuff. But what actually, like I feel like stood
- 34:55Speaker 1: out to me was that all the girls we talked to,
- 34:57Speaker 1: even the ones we like didn't talk to, were really
- 35:00Speaker 1: like happy and like seem like they really like their
- 35:02Speaker 1: sorority and like there's so many there that I was like, Wow,
- 35:05Speaker 1: you're all willing to like come and do all this
- 35:07Speaker 1: work for your sorority, like even obviously not all of
- 35:10Speaker 1: them can be like considered like top or whatever. But
- 35:12Speaker 1: I'm like you almost like like it like pretty good.
- 35:15Speaker 1: You know, yeah that that's not the case at every school.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Like I feel like some people are like, oh I
- 35:20Speaker 1: hate my sorority like whatever.
- 35:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Yeah, Well we did get the under We did find
- 35:25Speaker 4: out that there's a really high turnover rate, like people draw.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Does that mean oh, like people like girls dry like
- 35:30Speaker 1: when they're like seers.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Because the duw's apparently you're expensive.
- 35:33Speaker 1: When upwards can be upwards of twenty thousand dollars a year,
- 35:37Speaker 1: okay when you consider like uh like outfits for foremost.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I don't really know what was going on. They were saying,
- 35:45Speaker 2: just dudes, yeah, twenty k. So there's twenty k plus
- 35:48Speaker 2: plus plus plus Yeah, so they say that, like there's
- 35:51Speaker 2: a lot of turnover. Girls. Girls stay freshman, sophomore year,
- 35:54Speaker 2: leave junior senior year. Okay, they're not staying the full
- 35:57Speaker 2: four years.
- 35:58Speaker 3: And producer Evy, what's your sort of hot take on
- 36:01Speaker 3: BAMA Rush work Week?
- 36:05Speaker 4: Was this both your.
- 36:06Speaker 2: First times to Alabama? I can't remember, this is my first.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I added a new state to the list. I'm so glad.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Was this your first time Alabama?
- 36:11Speaker 5: BA?
- 36:12Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 36:12Speaker 2: Okay, great, yeah, give me your hand.
- 36:13Speaker 4: I think my hot take would be that the moms
- 36:16Speaker 4: and the like adult women are a lot more involved
- 36:20Speaker 4: in the South than in where I went to school.
- 36:23Speaker 2: In La same Macal, the moms are zero involved.
- 36:26Speaker 4: No, and these are all of the moms are coming
- 36:29Speaker 4: for work week, even if their daughters are already in sororities.
- 36:32Speaker 4: All the moms come for Sorority Rush to be like
- 36:34Speaker 4: they're for emotional support. They're buying a hotel room in
- 36:38Speaker 4: the place that we stayed. And then we saw like
- 36:41Speaker 4: a bunch of women, like like maybe women who had
- 36:44Speaker 4: been in the STORTI and are like in the alumni
- 36:46Speaker 4: network or whatever, rowing up their car parking and bringing.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Out all this stuff for work week, like out of
- 36:52Speaker 2: their car. It's like all loading rogs and all this shit.
- 36:54Speaker 2: We also met a.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Lot of people who had gone to Alabama, that lived
- 36:59Speaker 1: in huscal loose now or we're there in Tuscaloos like
- 37:02Speaker 1: do whatever. Like the two ladies on my flight randomly
- 37:04Speaker 1: started talking about how they were both five US at
- 37:06Speaker 1: the University of Alabama, like into Birmingham, Like you know
- 37:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying, it's momsy, this was pre momisee.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Like oh wom well this fine? You two, Yes, that's
- 37:17Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
- 37:18Speaker 1: We met, we're overstirred, like five plus like a lot
- 37:22Speaker 1: of people almost ever. We talked to make you go
- 37:24Speaker 1: and you stay, yeah, yeah stay, it seemed, but.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, well done, well done, well done.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Well I can't wait to see where we send you next.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Great stuff.
- 37:33Speaker 6: Me neither.
- 37:35Speaker 2: In Oklahoma, they were plugged.
- 37:39Speaker 4: Lindsay at the boutique was she could not stop talking
- 37:41Speaker 4: about how much she loved Auburn.
- 37:43Speaker 2: She's like, you guys, just gotta go. Where's Auburn that's
- 37:46Speaker 2: also in Alabama? Oh you're going back to Alabama? I guess.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Well done.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Then this is a dirty rush on our work week
- 37:55Speaker 3: special at our sorority retreat at a secret location, and
- 37:58Speaker 3: we're so glad you're listening.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Let's get dirty
- 38:10Speaker 1: Hmm.
