- 2:51Speaker 2: Welcome to the show, Good morning, and happy Friday the thirteenth.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Are you superstitious at all? I am a little state,
- 3:01Speaker 2: not superstitious, little stitches, but not superstitious. Okay, I got
- 3:04Speaker 2: you there, So what is it that give me? Give
- 3:07Speaker 2: me an example of something that you're a little superstitious about.
- 3:10Speaker 4: I absolutely refused to walk underneath any type of ladder.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Okay, okay, broken mirrors, that's stuff.
- 3:17Speaker 2: The only thing that I have. And it's not really
- 3:20Speaker 2: I don't know if it's superstition. It's just because I'm weird.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I have to do everything pretty much left to right,
- 3:25Speaker 2: and like in the morning, left left sock goes on
- 3:28Speaker 2: before right left shoe goes on. I do everything in
- 3:31Speaker 2: my life pretty much left to right. I can't. I
- 3:34Speaker 2: cannot do things right to left. That's that's I don't
- 3:36Speaker 2: think that's superstition. I think that's just weird.
- 3:40Speaker 4: It might be undiagnosed.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I got a lot of the undiagnosed stuff.
- 3:45Speaker 6: Uh.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Let's get to uh or not be police. Spend of
- 3:47Speaker 2: the week is always our our pet's pictures posted it
- 3:50Speaker 2: Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and the WCA Chess Network
- 3:53Speaker 2: Facebook page and at Dave a seventy on x tell
- 3:56Speaker 2: us about tyrone.
- 4:00Speaker 4: A tyrone. They're all named after the Backyardigans.
- 4:02Speaker 2: There are four Okay, hold on, hold on, named after.
- 4:05Speaker 4: The what the Backyardigans. It's a kid's TV show that
- 4:09Speaker 4: was on in like the early two thousands.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Okay, Ryan's shaking his head. I'm supposed to know what
- 4:13Speaker 2: that is? Right, Okay, all right, the Backyardigans. Okay, I
- 4:17Speaker 2: learned so much, you know, the combination between you and
- 4:20Speaker 2: Ryan of doing this show. So Tyrone is named after
- 4:22Speaker 2: a character on The Backyardigans.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Absolutely, there are fu of them at our shelter. They
- 4:28Speaker 4: arrived on Wednesday, actually via hu an officer. They were
- 4:33Speaker 4: just little stray puppies and he is quite literally just
- 4:36Speaker 4: a puppy. He's best friends with everybody. He's excited to
- 4:39Speaker 4: meet everybody. He's three months old. He's not neutered yet,
- 4:43Speaker 4: but he will be. We are currently running special for
- 4:47Speaker 4: adoptions or a special for Valentine's Day on our adoption feees.
- 4:51Speaker 4: He's only fourteen dollars to adopt and you get his newter,
- 4:54Speaker 4: vaccines and microchip, flea meds Andy Warmer included in that
- 4:57Speaker 4: fourteen dollars.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And what kind of dog is Tyrone?
- 5:00Speaker 4: Any idea that would be a West Virginia black and
- 5:04Speaker 4: white dog Okay, I thought.
- 5:05Speaker 2: That when I saw his picture, I thought I detected
- 5:08Speaker 2: something in there, but I couldn't quite figure out what
- 5:10Speaker 2: it was. It's something that kind of looked familiar to me,
- 5:12Speaker 2: but I just couldn't put my finger on exactly.
- 5:14Speaker 5: What it was.
- 5:15Speaker 4: He might be like a bully mix of sorts that
- 5:17Speaker 4: his ears stick straight out like, they don't go up,
- 5:20Speaker 4: and they don't flop over like a bully mix would.
- 5:23Speaker 4: He's just like literally or at like just a straight
- 5:27Speaker 4: line out from his head.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Well, I was trying to Yeah. I was talking to
- 5:30Speaker 2: Chris Lawrence as he was getting off the Morning News
- 5:33Speaker 2: this morning, and I said to you know, you really
- 5:34Speaker 2: ought to adopt this dog. And he said, is it
- 5:37Speaker 2: a pit bull or roth Weiler? And I said, it
- 5:39Speaker 2: can be whatever you want. So we're gonna Chris has
- 5:42Speaker 2: already got a couple of dogs, but he needs another one.
- 5:45Speaker 2: This dog looks like a Chris Lawrence dog.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yep, he can be whatever. He actually just told me
- 5:51Speaker 4: he will be whatever. Breathed that you guys need him to.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Be whatever you need. And Angie, I don't want to
- 5:57Speaker 2: confuse our pets here, but you have another story on
- 6:02Speaker 2: your Facebook page. And I just read it and somebody's
- 6:05Speaker 2: already texted about it. Appreciate the text about a dog
- 6:08Speaker 2: named Buster. Now his picture is on the Facebook page.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Buster has quite the story. Can you tell us Buster's story?
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yeah? Absolutely So. Yesterday I was walking around our building
- 6:23Speaker 4: and I heard sirens that sounded like they were in
- 6:25Speaker 4: the parking lot. Are really close, And I walked down
- 6:29Speaker 4: to our lower parking lot and I see across the
- 6:31Speaker 4: street there's a handful of lights and sirens going off
- 6:35Speaker 4: with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, and one of the
- 6:39Speaker 4: deputies that actually pulled in and said, Hey, we've got
- 6:41Speaker 4: a dog over here. Do you guys care to come
- 6:43Speaker 4: over and get it? So our team go over. Buster
- 6:47Speaker 4: was very scared, understandably so with all the noise and
- 6:51Speaker 4: just a lot of confusion going on. But what had
- 6:54Speaker 4: happened was his owner was actually fleeing from the police
- 6:58Speaker 4: on Greenbriar Street and just so happened to be stopped
- 7:02Speaker 4: right in front of our shelter, which was, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 4: extremely less lucky for Buster that, you know, our team
- 7:07Speaker 4: was right there to respond really quickly. But ever since
- 7:11Speaker 4: coming into our care yesterday, he's been super loose wiggly
- 7:14Speaker 4: and very friendly. He doesn't quite understand what's going on.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Why he's you know, at KHA, Why he was just
- 7:21Speaker 4: you know, riding in the car with his mom and
- 7:23Speaker 4: now she's not there. So one thing to take from
- 7:27Speaker 4: this is your pets will miss you if you make
- 7:30Speaker 4: silly decisions. Your pets are you know, are going to
- 7:35Speaker 4: have to find other arrangements if you go to jail,
- 7:37Speaker 4: if you are in the hospital, et cetera. So just
- 7:41Speaker 4: consider your pets whenever you are, you know, making decisions
- 7:46Speaker 4: for yourself and taking actions because once again, but like
- 7:49Speaker 4: they they don't understand what's happening for sure.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And so do we know what the status And again
- 7:54Speaker 2: I don't want to step on any toes here, but
- 7:56Speaker 2: do we know what the status of Buster's owners are
- 7:58Speaker 2: at this point?
- 7:59Speaker 4: The lady so, Buster's owner was arrested yesterday. You can
- 8:06Speaker 4: find a lot of details on the Kenall County Sheriff's
- 8:08Speaker 4: Office Facebook.
- 8:09Speaker 5: I won't go into Okay, that's right now, that's fine.
- 8:11Speaker 4: But she was arrested and Buster is in our care
- 8:16Speaker 4: for ten days while we you know, while she makes
- 8:18Speaker 4: arrangements for either herself or a family member or a
- 8:22Speaker 4: friend or just somebody that she knows to come and
- 8:25Speaker 4: reclaim Buster after that ten day period, if she has
- 8:28Speaker 4: no you know, arrangements to get him out of doggy
- 8:31Speaker 4: jail as essentially, then he becomes available for adoption and fostering,
- 8:36Speaker 4: just like any other pets.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Okay, so he's not available now because there's an opportunity
- 8:40Speaker 2: for if this lady gets out or somebody in her
- 8:42Speaker 2: family could come and claim the dog.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Correct.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, interesting story you every week, it's
- 8:48Speaker 2: a different story with you, folks.
- 8:50Speaker 5: It's something yesterday.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Yesterday I uttered the words I said, I need things
- 8:54Speaker 4: to just stop happening for a second, just for a second.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Indeed, the Dave Allen showing five Live has brought to

- 9:12Speaker 2: don Net helping you understand your environment because what you
- 9:14Speaker 2: don't know can hurt you. You guys out and about
- 9:17Speaker 2: anywhere for Valentine's Weekend. Now that people can actually get
- 9:20Speaker 2: out and about these days.
- 9:23Speaker 4: We are not until mid next week. We're staying put
- 9:26Speaker 4: at the shelter because we've had eighty seven total adoptions
- 9:30Speaker 4: since Tuesday, so we're staying put. We're doing pretty good
- 9:34Speaker 4: right right there at the shelter, and they need all
- 9:36Speaker 4: hands on decks, so we're staying put this weekend.
- 9:40Speaker 2: All right now, I do want to get a little
- 9:42Speaker 2: plug in for Tuxes and Tails because tickets. I know
- 9:47Speaker 2: it's not toil I think April twenty fifth, but tickets
- 9:50Speaker 2: are already on sale.
- 9:51Speaker 7: Is that right?
- 9:52Speaker 4: Yes, tickets are on sale. You can visit our Facebook
- 9:55Speaker 4: page four Tuxes and Tails twenty twenty six to get
- 9:58Speaker 4: all the information. It is at a new venue this
- 10:01Speaker 4: year with a new theme, so if you haven't been
- 10:03Speaker 4: the last couple of years, definitely check out this year.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Is that JQ Dickinson Salt Works right?
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yes, correct. We're super excited about.
- 10:11Speaker 2: L twenty fifth. We'll be talking plenty more about that
- 10:13Speaker 2: as we get a little bit closer. Do we have
- 10:16Speaker 2: anything else to report on the case of Stubbs and
- 10:19Speaker 2: Stubbs was the dog we told you about a couple
- 10:21Speaker 2: of weeks ago that was shot possibly thrown out of
- 10:24Speaker 2: a window of a car, or possibly run over. Somebody
- 10:29Speaker 2: dropped Stubbs off at the shelter. You were trying to
- 10:32Speaker 2: do the life saving surgery on him. It got to
- 10:35Speaker 2: a point that you just had to stop because his
- 10:37Speaker 2: body just gave out. I know the investigation was continuing
- 10:40Speaker 2: with Charleston Police Department.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Any other updates on that, nothing new recently on The
- 10:46Speaker 4: last update I got was that there was an investigation ongoing.
- 10:51Speaker 4: That's about it. There's not really been any developments. And
- 10:56Speaker 4: I did hear that like there is there may be
- 10:58Speaker 4: a situation where there is no proof to you know,
- 11:03Speaker 4: prosecute proof who pulled the trigger on this dog? Who
- 11:06Speaker 4: exactly did this? So I just don't want to get
- 11:09Speaker 4: everyone's hopes up.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I got you.
- 11:11Speaker 4: It may turn out that way, but as of right now,
- 11:14Speaker 4: the investigation is still ongoing, so hopefully it will be
- 11:18Speaker 4: in sub in our favor.
- 11:20Speaker 5: All right.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I want to go back because we get a text
- 11:21Speaker 2: about Buster.
- 11:22Speaker 1: This was the dog.
- 11:23Speaker 2: This is not the one we're trying to We're trying
- 11:24Speaker 2: to get him all adoptive, but Buster is not ready yet. Okay,
- 11:28Speaker 2: But they wanted to know how what kind of shape
- 11:30Speaker 2: Buster was in is he okay? He or she okay?
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah? Buster was actually, I mean in pretty good health,
- 11:37Speaker 4: other than being a little nervous around the Copson uniform,
- 11:40Speaker 4: which you know, don't blame him. That can be scary,
- 11:44Speaker 4: but he was in perfect health. And once he got
- 11:47Speaker 4: to KHA, he's been perfect behavior wise. So he is
- 11:51Speaker 4: a well taken care of dog if nothing else.
- 11:53Speaker 2: All right, Angie, is always a pleasure to have you
- 11:56Speaker 2: on the show, and we'll talk again next week and
- 11:59Speaker 2: hopefully it calms down for you guys a little bit
- 12:00Speaker 2: up there.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, thank you, all right.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Angel gillla WAA Canal Charleston U Maine Association. Tyrone is
- 12:07Speaker 2: the dog we're trying to get adopted this week. He's
- 12:09Speaker 2: around three months old, just got to the shelter yesterday.
- 12:13Speaker 2: A puppy, loves everyone and everything, and he's part of
- 12:16Speaker 2: their Valentine's Day special today and tomorrow. Fourteen bucks you
- 12:20Speaker 2: can get Tyrone and that will include the neutering, the vaccine,
- 12:24Speaker 2: even the de worming, and the flea meds and the
- 12:26Speaker 2: micro chipping. To only fourteen bucks A great little about

- 15:21Speaker 2: the show.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Good morning, Dave. How are you?
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm doing fine. It's the day before Valentine's Day. The
- 15:26Speaker 2: King of Hearts wedding ceremonies are underway. How's it going
- 15:32Speaker 2: so far? Have we had any customers yet?
- 15:34Speaker 10: We have three different couples right now waiting in the
- 15:37Speaker 10: hallway to get married. We had an adoption first thing
- 15:40Speaker 10: this morning, a bunch of the cutest kids ever. And
- 15:43Speaker 10: now the phrase six seven is on the record officially
- 15:46Speaker 10: in my courtroom.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Well, you're always a trendsetter, judge, You're always a trendsetter,
- 15:51Speaker 2: all right. So you got couples waiting right now. You
- 15:55Speaker 2: know what you could do is you could put them
- 15:56Speaker 2: on the air with me and I could give him
- 15:57Speaker 2: some advice.
- 15:58Speaker 4: How's that?
- 15:59Speaker 10: That's how great you want me to go?
- 16:01Speaker 2: No, no, I don't think because because in my luck,
- 16:04Speaker 2: they'll probably say what station is this? You know now,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm not gonna do that. I won't put them on
- 16:08Speaker 2: the spot like that. So how long do the typical
- 16:10Speaker 2: ceremonies take?
- 16:12Speaker 10: So these these are all typical. We just have a
- 16:15Speaker 10: script that we read. It usually takes between two and
- 16:18Speaker 10: three minutes. Really, if people have things they want to say,
- 16:22Speaker 10: we obviously let them say whatever they want to say
- 16:25Speaker 10: and then remain afterwards to take whatever pictures they want.
- 16:28Speaker 10: Because we have our arch made by balloons by Birdie
- 16:32Speaker 10: ready to go, so we are photographed ready in here.
- 16:35Speaker 2: It sounds good. It's a big shout out to those
- 16:37Speaker 2: folks for getting involved with this as well. Now, all
- 16:40Speaker 2: they got to do, if people listening right now they
- 16:41Speaker 2: say let's go ahead, and let's go ahead and get
- 16:43Speaker 2: this taken care of. They just got to go to
- 16:45Speaker 2: the clerk's office and get there, get their license right,
- 16:48Speaker 2: that's right, and then just come on in and there's
- 16:50Speaker 2: no appointments necessary. But if someone, because you said you've
- 16:52Speaker 2: already got three couples waiting right now, if someone, if someone,
- 16:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna get you off here so you can get
- 16:57Speaker 2: to them. So if somebody does want to call in
- 17:01Speaker 2: and say, hey, we're coming down from this area, we
- 17:03Speaker 2: would like to book an appointment or just let you know,
- 17:05Speaker 2: just let you guys know that they're coming. What number
- 17:08Speaker 2: do they need to call?
- 17:10Speaker 10: They call three zero four three six seven zero three
- 17:14Speaker 10: six seven. And actually, right as I took your call, Dave,
- 17:17Speaker 10: someone was calling, I think from Bluefield and saying they
- 17:20Speaker 10: were going to come down and get married today. So
- 17:22Speaker 10: looking forward to.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Well, we talked about when you were on the show
- 17:24Speaker 2: with the other day, it's going to be a nice day,
- 17:26Speaker 2: a little bit cool in the capital city, but it's
- 17:28Speaker 2: sunny all day, so it'd be a great time for
- 17:30Speaker 2: people to go ahead and get Mary, take a walk
- 17:32Speaker 2: down to Boulevard or Magic Island or wherever they want
- 17:34Speaker 2: to do, and just enjoy the capital city on this
- 17:37Speaker 2: cold Friday the thirteenth.
- 17:39Speaker 10: That's right, make your Friday the thirteenth special.
- 17:41Speaker 2: All right, We're going to let you get back to
- 17:43Speaker 2: it because you got We don't want anybody, you know,
- 17:45Speaker 2: like changing their mind while they're out there in the hall,
- 17:47Speaker 2: and I don't want that to be on over your
- 17:50Speaker 2: head or my head, So we'll let you get back
- 17:51Speaker 2: to it. Judge Mary Claire Day, Yeah, there you go.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Everybody blames me for everything, Judge Mary Clare, akers appreciate it.
- 17:57Speaker 2: We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot.
- 17:58Speaker 10: All right, thanks Dave.
- 18:00Speaker 2: All right again, that is going to be going on
- 18:01Speaker 2: throughout the day. If you want to get married, now
- 18:03Speaker 2: is the time. She's already got three in the in
- 18:07Speaker 2: the in the bullpen ready to go. Maybe I should
- 18:10Speaker 2: have put them on the air, you know, maybe I
- 18:12Speaker 2: should have.
- 18:12Speaker 7: Don't know.

- 19:09Speaker 2: and while we're trying to hook up with Tony the Tender. Well,
- 19:13Speaker 2: the problem we have is is sometimes I'm going to
- 19:15Speaker 2: give you a little inside baseball here. The problem that
- 19:19Speaker 2: we have is people these days have their phones set
- 19:22Speaker 2: up so if your phone is not in their contact
- 19:26Speaker 2: doesn't let you call them, and it goes straight to voicemail.
- 19:29Speaker 2: And you'd be surprised on a talk show how often
- 19:33Speaker 2: that that happens when we call somebody and if we're
- 19:36Speaker 2: not in their contacts, it goes straight to voicemail. And
- 19:39Speaker 2: I have a feeling with the last two. That's what
- 19:42Speaker 2: just happened The Dave Allen Show on five eighty Live

- 19:57Speaker 2: Good whatever to you, sir.
- 19:58Speaker 5: How's it going, Good morning, Dave, how are you all?
- 20:01Speaker 2: I am doing fine, Thank you for being on the show.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I want to give a little bit of time to
- 20:04Speaker 2: talk about this winter clearance sale that you've got going
- 20:06Speaker 2: on right now. It's going to wrap up today, right
- 20:09Speaker 2: or is it just today.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Today's the final day and we will be all spring
- 20:14Speaker 5: by Monday morning.
- 20:15Speaker 2: All right, what you got for us?
- 20:17Speaker 5: I have some great deals with some pants up to
- 20:20Speaker 5: ninety percent off, and we do ninety percent off of
- 20:23Speaker 5: these because it's easy to figure the discount.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Because we're not that smart here, okay, all right?
- 20:27Speaker 5: And we also have a good selection left a sports shirts,
- 20:30Speaker 5: especially large sizes, some double X and triple X because
- 20:34Speaker 5: those Zimpic has changed the size scales. Again indeed, not
- 20:40Speaker 5: much left and small a lot left in double X
- 20:44Speaker 5: sport codes here for like forty nine bucks. Some sizes
- 20:48Speaker 5: left yesterday. It started yesterday, and the course it's always slammed,
- 20:52Speaker 5: and the first day is always the biggest day. Push
- 20:54Speaker 5: does some things left and it's cash only on the
- 21:00Speaker 5: y percent off stuff. But also we have brand new
- 21:02Speaker 5: spring merchandise send us outstanding new sport coats here, good
- 21:07Speaker 5: looking and we're giving an early bird discount is at
- 21:10Speaker 5: twenty percent off. And I have some new Johnny o
- 21:12Speaker 5: in which are hugely popular sports word brand.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And what's going on here well with the winner that
- 21:19Speaker 2: we've had h and again it's only lasted about two
- 21:21Speaker 2: and a half weeks. It seems, but I think people
- 21:23Speaker 2: want they want that springtime stuff, so it'd be nice
- 21:26Speaker 2: to see that out there.
- 21:26Speaker 5: And you know, the Legends a lot of spring stuff yesterday. Okay,
- 21:29Speaker 5: this is kind of transitional spring. You know, some nice
- 21:31Speaker 5: quarter zips and shirts. And got some cool new quarter
- 21:36Speaker 5: zip from Johnny O. It's in a new performance fabric.
- 21:39Speaker 5: It's been really hot. So we're we're on a third
- 21:41Speaker 5: reorder of it and we just got it in four
- 21:43Speaker 5: weeks ago.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Well, give us real quick. I want you to tell
- 21:47Speaker 2: me why people should should come into a store like yours,
- 21:51Speaker 2: as opposed to just going to buying something off their
- 21:52Speaker 2: act somewhere.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Uh well, clothing, we're professionals and we're tailors. You know,
- 21:58Speaker 5: you see people on TV either sleeves or down by
- 22:00Speaker 5: their thumbs because they bought it at a chain store
- 22:03Speaker 5: or a department store and they don't have tailors there
- 22:06Speaker 5: they and and if they do, they're going to charge
- 22:09Speaker 5: you for alterations. Us we have free alterations. You buy
- 22:12Speaker 5: something from us free forever, lose weight, gain weight to
- 22:15Speaker 5: bring it back. Also a quality we carry mostly first
- 22:21Speaker 5: world country things of clothing made by adults.
- 22:24Speaker 2: All right, and that's what that's what we need and support.
- 22:27Speaker 2: A good Charleston business has been in business for a
- 22:30Speaker 2: long time. Tony the Taylor Mike Pushkin State Democratic Party
- 22:33Speaker 2: Chair and delegates going to be coming up next. He
- 22:35Speaker 2: wanted to verify you did say pants were ninety percent off? Yes,
- 22:39Speaker 2: your pants were ninety percent.
- 22:41Speaker 5: As he's lost weight, his pants are almost ninety percent.
- 22:43Speaker 10: Off now too.
- 22:44Speaker 7: I'm sorry that just brought a horrible image to my mind, Tony,
- 22:47Speaker 7: so pants.

- 24:18Speaker 2: from the West Side Neighborhood Association will join us to
- 24:21Speaker 2: talk about that. Want to welcome to the show now,
- 24:23Speaker 2: State Democratic Party chair and delegate from the fifty fourth
- 24:25Speaker 2: Mike Pushkin, Welcome to the show.
- 24:27Speaker 7: My friend, Good morning, good to see you. How's it going, man,
- 24:30Speaker 7: that's going great. See now, I always like when the
- 24:33Speaker 7: legislature is in session when you come in because you
- 24:35Speaker 7: know you're all you're all dressed up. He didn't come
- 24:37Speaker 7: right out of the gym like you normally do. And
- 24:39Speaker 7: I's just about the jacket and pants both came from Tony.
- 24:44Speaker 7: There you go, supporting local business they actually fit. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 7: supporting local businesses. So what's so far?
- 24:52Speaker 2: You're at the halfway point minus one day. How's it
- 24:55Speaker 2: going under the dome so far?
- 24:56Speaker 7: Well, yeah, It's always said every year, when it's all
- 24:59Speaker 7: said and done, a whole lot more gets said than
- 25:02Speaker 7: ever gets done. I'll start by going into the session
- 25:06Speaker 7: we heard to offset the huge PIA premium increases that
- 25:12Speaker 7: we're seeing. We're now looking at a fourth one since
- 25:16Speaker 7: twenty twenty three, when the Republican supermajority passed this bill
- 25:22Speaker 7: was Center Bill two sixty eight that led to these
- 25:25Speaker 7: increased premiums for our state workers, for our teachers. That
- 25:29Speaker 7: going into the session, I mean, the governor said we're
- 25:31Speaker 7: going to do a pay raise. The Republicans and the
- 25:34Speaker 7: legislature said we're going to do a pay raise. Even
- 25:36Speaker 7: the governor in waiting, Treasurer Larry Pack, said, we're going
- 25:41Speaker 7: to do a pay raise.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Governor, where's the pay raise?
- 25:44Speaker 10: Now?
- 25:44Speaker 7: The Democrats have introduced a pay raise bill that is
- 25:46Speaker 7: across the board, a much better bill. I'm not holding
- 25:49Speaker 7: my bread for them for them to run that, but
- 25:52Speaker 7: they're not running any pay raise bills. I don't think
- 25:54Speaker 7: there's any appetite at all for the stuff that they
- 25:58Speaker 7: were promising at the beginning of the session, which was
- 26:00Speaker 7: a pay raise to offset these rising health care costs.
- 26:05Speaker 2: So what about the income tax? I mean, there seems
- 26:08Speaker 2: to be let's leave the Democratic Party out for a moment.
- 26:11Speaker 2: There seems to be you know, the governor's proposing this
- 26:13Speaker 2: tax cut he talked about in the state of the space,
- 26:15Speaker 2: the state of the state. There's a lot of Republicans
- 26:17Speaker 2: that have questions about it, saying, you know, we'd love
- 26:19Speaker 2: to have it nobody wants to pay more taxes, but
- 26:21Speaker 2: we just don't have We just don't have it.
- 26:23Speaker 7: So well, it depends on which you know, which day
- 26:25Speaker 7: you talk to the governor in the state of the state,
- 26:27Speaker 7: he said ten percent, and what he introduced was a
- 26:29Speaker 7: five percent, so he wants the legislature to make up
- 26:32Speaker 7: the other five percent. Either way, what you're talking about
- 26:35Speaker 7: to the average West virgin I'm not talking about for
- 26:37Speaker 7: the millionaires, but for the average working West Virginian it's
- 26:42Speaker 7: what maybe you know, it's it's pennies on the dollar.
- 26:45Speaker 7: Really to that that kind of a ten percent or
- 26:48Speaker 7: even five percent income tax cut, It's not really a
- 26:51Speaker 7: whole lot of savings. It's not going to be life changing. Now,
- 26:55Speaker 7: what would be It would be a bill that the
- 26:58Speaker 7: Democrats are supporting I have proposed, which would be a
- 27:01Speaker 7: freeze on rate increases for our utility rates, which West
- 27:06Speaker 7: Virginia has seen the sharpest increases in the entire nation
- 27:09Speaker 7: in the past several years. And that would give families
- 27:12Speaker 7: real relief immediately if we froze the rates until we
- 27:17Speaker 7: were able to get things under control and bring things
- 27:19Speaker 7: back down to a reasonable level. Right now in West
- 27:21Speaker 7: Virginia got families trying to make a decision on whether
- 27:23Speaker 7: to keep keep the lights on or get groceries. I
- 27:26Speaker 7: don't think a five percent or ten percent income tax
- 27:29Speaker 7: cut is going to offset that.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Our bill really does, that really does put.
- 27:33Speaker 7: Money back into the pockets of working West Virginians.
- 27:35Speaker 2: I want to step away just for a moment to
- 27:37Speaker 2: the state stuff, and we'll get back to it here momentarily.
- 27:40Speaker 2: There have been a lot of the national pundits, Mike,
- 27:42Speaker 2: that have said that this is going to be a
- 27:44Speaker 2: good year for the Democrats. And I don't mean I'm
- 27:46Speaker 2: not talking about West Virginia right now, which may be
- 27:48Speaker 2: a good year for them in West Virginia two, but
- 27:49Speaker 2: I'm talking about on the national level because of Epstein files,
- 27:54Speaker 2: because of the big word, the big buzzword for twenty
- 27:57Speaker 2: twenty five slash twenty twenty six has been affordabil and
- 28:02Speaker 2: in some races, many people have said, many people that
- 28:04Speaker 2: are totally nonpartisan have said, this is going to be
- 28:08Speaker 2: a good year for the Democrats. Well, it should be,
- 28:11Speaker 2: and that was.
- 28:12Speaker 7: Reflected in our candidate recruitment efforts. You know, we had
- 28:14Speaker 7: a great organizing effort, but it wasn't all us. A
- 28:18Speaker 7: lot of it was just the mood of the people.
- 28:20Speaker 7: People are ready to step up and run because they
- 28:21Speaker 7: can sense what appears to be happening here and that
- 28:26Speaker 7: the president and it's always about unfortunately, it's always about
- 28:29Speaker 7: national politics. But the president's numbers are rapidly, rapidly declining,
- 28:33Speaker 7: and that's why you're seeing these efforts from what I see,
- 28:38Speaker 7: and it's fairly scary to federalize the election. Now, that's unconstitutional.
- 28:42Speaker 7: It's laid out in the Constitution that states run elections.
- 28:46Speaker 7: Used to work for the Secretary of State's office, and
- 28:48Speaker 7: I would like to commend our current Secretary of State,
- 28:52Speaker 7: Chris Warner, for doing the right thing and standing up
- 28:55Speaker 7: to Trump's Department of Justice. And you know, I hate
- 28:58Speaker 7: to say that like that, but it is with Pam there.
- 29:01Speaker 7: It's Trump's Department of Justice. But standing up to them
- 29:04Speaker 7: and refusing to turn over this, you know, this voter data.
- 29:09Speaker 2: It's a direct violation of West Virginia state law.
- 29:12Speaker 7: Yes to do that, Yeah, that was personal information about
- 29:15Speaker 7: people that should not be turned over to the federal
- 29:17Speaker 7: government like that. And why do My question is why
- 29:20Speaker 7: do they want it? Because it's an effort to federalize elections,
- 29:23Speaker 7: which is unconstitutional. And they're doing this because I think
- 29:26Speaker 7: they can also read the tea leaves and they're concerned
- 29:29Speaker 7: about about the midtra as they should. But I think
- 29:34Speaker 7: things tend to balance themselves out, and you're going to
- 29:36Speaker 7: see more checks and balances in government when you have
- 29:40Speaker 7: a more balanced government.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I was going to bring that up about Secretary Warner
- 29:44Speaker 2: because he was on talk line yesterday, and look, he
- 29:46Speaker 2: just was steadfast and saying what they are asking not
- 29:49Speaker 2: only West Virginia but other states to do is in
- 29:52Speaker 2: West Virginia, it's a violation of the law in West Virginia,
- 29:55Speaker 2: it's violation of the Constitution in general. And he said,
- 30:00Speaker 2: and that's not something that is easy for a Republican
- 30:03Speaker 2: to do in West Virginia. But I'm with you. I
- 30:07Speaker 2: give him credit for that, and a similar people may
- 30:10Speaker 2: forget this, Mike. A similar ask was made of Chris
- 30:13Speaker 2: Warner's brother Mac in like twenty I want to say,
- 30:16Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, when Trump the first was in office, when
- 30:20Speaker 2: the first term was going to A similar ask was
- 30:23Speaker 2: made then and Mac Warner also said no, and other
- 30:28Speaker 2: states did as well. But I thought it was interesting
- 30:31Speaker 2: that I think you guys on your social media went
- 30:34Speaker 2: public and commended the current Secretary Warner and even shared
- 30:38Speaker 2: a story on there. It's something you don't see out
- 30:40Speaker 2: of the Democrats very often or any party, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 2: commending the other side.
- 30:44Speaker 7: Oh, don will give credit where credit is due. It
- 30:46Speaker 7: is it does take courage to stand up to the
- 30:49Speaker 7: president of the United States. And that's where it's coming from.
- 30:52Speaker 7: And it's based on this this you know, this conspiracy
- 30:56Speaker 7: theory that's been you know that the president has been
- 30:58Speaker 7: clinging to for sixty years years that the twenty twenty
- 31:01Speaker 7: election was rigged or stolen, and he can't you know,
- 31:05Speaker 7: he wants to dwell on that, yet wants us to,
- 31:09Speaker 7: you know, get over the Epstein files. He says, yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 7: let's quit talking about the Epstein files. Let's talk about
- 31:13Speaker 7: the twenty twenty election. Sorry, the Epstein files are not
- 31:17Speaker 7: going away. The President, i believe, is mentioned about forty
- 31:20Speaker 7: thousand times in those files. They need to be released
- 31:23Speaker 7: unredacted for the protection of the victims, not the protection
- 31:28Speaker 7: of the predators.
- 31:30Speaker 2: And you would say that if because you know, there's
- 31:32Speaker 2: been several other Democrats that have been mentioned that. Okay,
- 31:37Speaker 2: I'm believe I want to make consistent. I know you
- 31:39Speaker 2: would be yeah, don't.
- 31:40Speaker 7: Yeah, Let's not protect the predators, Let's protect the victims.
- 31:43Speaker 7: That's what's important. I mean, it was disgusting to see
- 31:45Speaker 7: the victims sitting in that room while Pam Bondi sat
- 31:48Speaker 7: there and was screaming about the dal Jones. It was
- 31:53Speaker 7: it was insulting. It's insulting to every American and everything.
- 31:56Speaker 7: So maybe that's why we're seeing more Republicans find the
- 32:00Speaker 7: courage to stand up to this president because they're seeing
- 32:03Speaker 7: that that you know, it's a sinking ship. Okay, and
- 32:08Speaker 7: maybe it'll take a little longer in a state here
- 32:10Speaker 7: like West Virginia, but it's coming. And we have a
- 32:12Speaker 7: lot of great candidates on the ballot, up and down
- 32:14Speaker 7: the ballot, and we're going to give voters choices, and
- 32:17Speaker 7: voters are going to make the right choices, and we're
- 32:19Speaker 7: going to restore some sanity to our government.

- 33:53Speaker 2: It is about nineteen minutes away from ten o'clock on
- 33:56Speaker 2: a Friday morning to Dave Allen Show on five. A
- 33:58Speaker 2: d line brought to you a fired by a Bridge
- 34:00Speaker 2: Community and Technical College vis Bridge Valley dot edu, Bridge
- 34:03Speaker 2: Valley Community Technical College. Your career starts here, State Democratic
- 34:06Speaker 2: Party Chair, don'tleg at. Mike Pushkin is here tech says,
- 34:10Speaker 2: I genuinely have no idea why women vote. Republican Republicans
- 34:14Speaker 2: view women as lesser than men. Republicans want to force
- 34:17Speaker 2: women to rape babies. Republicans would rather a woman be
- 34:20Speaker 2: in pain or die rather than to have an abortion.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Republicans are now trying to disenfranchise women's vote with the
- 34:25Speaker 2: Save Act. When are women going to realize Republicans see
- 34:29Speaker 2: them as second class? Well, I think more and more are.
- 34:33Speaker 7: And that's why you're seeing this effort on a national
- 34:37Speaker 7: level with the text are brought up the Save Act
- 34:40Speaker 7: and that would be a you know, federal voter ID. Okay,
- 34:44Speaker 7: now we have voter ID in West Virginia, and you know,
- 34:47Speaker 7: a driver's license or a voter registration card, a.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Proof of who you are.
- 34:53Speaker 7: But this Save Act goes way further than that, something
- 34:55Speaker 7: about a passport or a birth certificate. Now, in the
- 34:58Speaker 7: case of a birth certificate, when women get married, oftentimes
- 35:03Speaker 7: they changed their name. That's going to that could lead
- 35:06Speaker 7: to the disenfranchisement of women voters. And you know what
- 35:08Speaker 7: that A lot of the Republicans have been saying the
- 35:10Speaker 7: quiet part out loud lately, saying that they are talking
- 35:13Speaker 7: about repealing the Nineteenth Amendment, about not allowing well to
- 35:17Speaker 7: be fair.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I haven't heard anybody in West Virginia say Derek Derek
- 35:20Speaker 2: Evans doesn't count.
- 35:21Speaker 7: He was he was a member, he briefly for about
- 35:24Speaker 7: five minutes. He was a member of the legislature and
- 35:27Speaker 7: a former former delegate, former felon because President Trump did
- 35:31Speaker 7: pardon him. But you know, it's also been said by
- 35:34Speaker 7: Pete Haig Sith, who is the what the Secretary of War.
- 35:39Speaker 7: It has been said by members of Congress said that
- 35:41Speaker 7: because I haven't seen that in the past.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Hag Seth has said that, Yes, Texas, Florida guy here, Dave,
- 35:47Speaker 2: Remember you're talking to a Democrat, Mike Pushkin. The tax
- 35:49Speaker 2: cuts Democrats is like showing dracket of the cross.
- 35:52Speaker 7: Oh no, I mean nobody likes taxes, don't get me wrong,
- 35:56Speaker 7: But when you're talking about a minuscule cut to the
- 36:00Speaker 7: state income tax, that's really not going to give working
- 36:02Speaker 7: families or Now that might be relief for millionaires and billionaires,
- 36:05Speaker 7: and maybe your friend from Florida, maybe he's a billionaire
- 36:08Speaker 7: and would benefit from something like that, but you know,
- 36:12Speaker 7: for most West Virginians, it's not a whole lot of money.
- 36:15Speaker 2: What we're talking about.
- 36:16Speaker 7: Is real savings in regards to actually addressing these out
- 36:20Speaker 7: of control utility rates here in West Virginia. And you
- 36:23Speaker 7: do that without bankrupting the state. That way, you don't
- 36:27Speaker 7: have to keep raising pei A premiums, you don't have
- 36:30Speaker 7: to keep taking it out on essential services. When you
- 36:33Speaker 7: find relief for folks that way.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Texas, how are they going to raise wages when they're
- 36:38Speaker 2: cutting taxes? It's not logical.
- 36:41Speaker 7: Well that's a good question. But they promised both, right,
- 36:44Speaker 7: I mean every one of them. The governor promised both.
- 36:47Speaker 7: The Republicans and the legislature promised both. You know, Treasurer
- 36:51Speaker 7: Larry Larry Pack has promised both. So I don't I don't.
- 36:55Speaker 7: You're right, it doesn't add up. I want to go
- 36:57Speaker 7: back to the Cannaba, Canada.
- 37:00Speaker 2: That recruitment that that you and the state Democratic Party
- 37:03Speaker 2: did on Wednesday show, I think it was we had
- 37:06Speaker 2: Greg Thomas on the show on the Metro News. I
- 37:09Speaker 2: heard part of that.
- 37:10Speaker 7: I was driving.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Greg Thomas came out and said, I want to give
- 37:13Speaker 2: the Democratic Party credit, you know, for being able to
- 37:16Speaker 2: get people to run in those positions.
- 37:19Speaker 7: I think he understands because he was active with the
- 37:23Speaker 7: Republican Party back when they were in a minority, and
- 37:27Speaker 7: he knows how hard it is to get to get
- 37:29Speaker 7: folks to run when you're recruiting them to run into
- 37:32Speaker 7: an in you know, in the minority party. So yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 7: I appreciate that. I mean, I think he knows what
- 37:38Speaker 7: you know, what it, what it's taken, and the kind
- 37:40Speaker 7: of organizing efforts that we put into it. I must say, though,
- 37:43Speaker 7: I think other folks are paying attention to because there's
- 37:46Speaker 7: a bill running now at his sponsor. The lead sponsor,
- 37:49Speaker 7: of course, is is the chair of the West Virginia
- 37:51Speaker 7: Republican Party, Delegate Josh Holstein from Boone County, and he's
- 37:55Speaker 7: pushing a bill that would make it even harder, of course,
- 37:58Speaker 7: for us to recruit candidates, because it's right now there's
- 38:01Speaker 7: like a window for someone to run. If you're a
- 38:03Speaker 7: Republican and you want to run as a Democrat, if
- 38:05Speaker 7: you're a Democrat you want to run as a Republican,
- 38:08Speaker 7: there's a certain time frame before you They want to
- 38:10Speaker 7: lengthen that to six months and then add independence to
- 38:14Speaker 7: it as well, to keep independence from running in one
- 38:18Speaker 7: political party or another way I see it. An independent
- 38:20Speaker 7: is an independent for a reason. Okay, they don't feel
- 38:23Speaker 7: a strong affiliation to one party or the other, but
- 38:25Speaker 7: if they want to run for office genuinely, they're going
- 38:28Speaker 7: to pick And there are several Republicans right now in
- 38:31Speaker 7: the legislature who were independents right before they filed to run,
- 38:34Speaker 7: several of them here in Kannak County, Okay.
- 38:37Speaker 2: But what's wrong with that?
- 38:38Speaker 5: Right?
- 38:39Speaker 7: We want to encourage people to run for office, and
- 38:41Speaker 7: if somebody is, they're not affiliate, they're not superpartisan. That
- 38:44Speaker 7: might be better for government to have more people like that,
- 38:47Speaker 7: and they should be able to choose which party they
- 38:49Speaker 7: want to run and then do that. I don't understand
- 38:51Speaker 7: what the problem is that they're trying to address. But
- 38:53Speaker 7: of course, yeah, Delegate Holstein in the Republican super majority
- 38:57Speaker 7: is hell bent on making it harder for people to
- 39:00Speaker 7: who filed or run for office.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Gee, I wonder why let's talk about the independents.
- 39:06Speaker 7: You know, they're republic They're going to shut them out
- 39:08Speaker 7: of their primary, and now they want to shut them
- 39:10Speaker 7: out of running for office too. It seems like just
- 39:13Speaker 7: like the Republican Party and here in West Virginia is
- 39:15Speaker 7: waging war on independent unaffiliated. But I mean the Republican
- 39:18Speaker 7: Party welcome. We want them to run for office, we
- 39:20Speaker 7: want them to vote in our primary. The Republican Party
- 39:23Speaker 7: base and it's like it's their it's their party. They
- 39:25Speaker 7: can every time I say that, I think I should
- 39:27Speaker 7: channel Leslie Gore and say it's their party and they
- 39:29Speaker 7: can cry if they want to.
- 39:30Speaker 2: But I don't mean they're crying. But uh, but it's
- 39:32Speaker 2: their party. They want, they could do what they want
- 39:35Speaker 2: with their party, and they they chose again, which is
- 39:39Speaker 2: a decision they made before to upheld to uphold their
- 39:43Speaker 2: ruling that that independence aren't welcome. So if you're a
- 39:45Speaker 2: registered independent when you go to the primary in the past,
- 39:49Speaker 2: you've been able to go in and say I'm Dave,
- 39:51Speaker 2: I'm a registered independent, but I want a Republican ballot.
- 39:54Speaker 1: You will not.
- 39:55Speaker 2: You will no longer do that. You can still get
- 39:57Speaker 2: a Democrat ballot. Okay, you can still get a Democrat ballot,
- 40:00Speaker 2: or you're going to be looking at all nonpartisan races
- 40:03Speaker 2: and that's all that you are going to get. I
- 40:04Speaker 2: have said to my friends on the Republican Party, you
- 40:08Speaker 2: really need to do a good job of getting the
- 40:10Speaker 2: word out on this because I think what's going to
- 40:12Speaker 2: happen is is come primary election day, Mike, I think
- 40:14Speaker 2: a lot of independents are going to show up at
- 40:16Speaker 2: the polls and you know, maybe shame on them for
- 40:19Speaker 2: not knowing the rules, but they're going to show up
- 40:20Speaker 2: and they're going to take it out on some eighty
- 40:22Speaker 2: year old poll worker when they're only allowed to vote
- 40:24Speaker 2: for board.
- 40:25Speaker 7: Of education or something that a lot of them do
- 40:27Speaker 7: know the rules and don't like being told what to do,
- 40:30Speaker 7: and they're not going to go switch their independence for
- 40:32Speaker 7: a reason, okay, And they're not going to go switch
- 40:36Speaker 7: because of this ridiculous move from the Republican Party to
- 40:39Speaker 7: shut them out. The good news is when they ask
- 40:41Speaker 7: for that Democratic ballot, They're going to have real choices.
- 40:45Speaker 7: We're going to have a competitive primary at the top
- 40:47Speaker 7: of the ticket all the way down in many cases
- 40:49Speaker 7: where you have primaries and our legislative races. In many
- 40:52Speaker 7: cases across the state. In Logan County, we have primaries
- 40:56Speaker 7: for House of Delegates in both of the House districts
- 40:58Speaker 7: in Logan County right now. On the Democratic side, we
- 41:01Speaker 7: have primaries people want to run.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Which is not I can tell you being from there,
- 41:05Speaker 2: it is.
- 41:06Speaker 7: We haven't had that.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Thirty years ago there were no Republicans I mean zero,
- 41:10Speaker 2: I mean zero Republicans.
- 41:12Speaker 14: Well, we're giving and now it's all we're giving voters
- 41:15Speaker 14: choices this time, and we're going to have a lot
- 41:17Speaker 14: more voters in our primary because of this boneheaded move
- 41:20Speaker 14: from the Republicans to kick the independence and unaffiliated voters out.
- 41:24Speaker 7: And when they get that democratic ballot, there will be
- 41:27Speaker 7: choices now. Like I said, this part that's very concerning
- 41:29Speaker 7: to me now is this effort where they don't want
- 41:31Speaker 7: independence running for office and winning. That to me is
- 41:36Speaker 7: undemocratic and there's absolutely no.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Need for it.
- 41:38Speaker 7: The current law, existing law has not been a problem.
- 41:41Speaker 7: I mean Apparently the problem that they're trying to dress
- 41:44Speaker 7: is the Republicans feel too many people are running for office.
- 41:47Speaker 7: I call that democracy. That's a beautiful thing about this country.
- 41:50Speaker 7: We want people to run for office. We want more
- 41:52Speaker 7: people to run for office, not less.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Texas can't wait for the purity test, stubbornness and pettiness
- 41:58Speaker 2: to fragment the Republican Party.
- 42:00Speaker 7: That's it's already going on. Well, then they spent more
- 42:02Speaker 7: time recruiting against themselves and they did recruiting against us.
- 42:06Speaker 7: Uh there's only I mean, out of nine nine Democratic seats,
- 42:10Speaker 7: they only recruited Republicans in three of them, three of them,
- 42:15Speaker 7: three out of nine. That's not very good.
- 42:17Speaker 2: It's not very good. Uh recruitment, Say math Texas, thank
- 42:24Speaker 2: you for the weekly segment fear MONGERINGE with Mike Pushkin.
- 42:26Speaker 7: Oh that's not We're spreading hope and love.
- 42:29Speaker 2: But you're not on weekly Texas. Uh used to be
- 42:33Speaker 2: Uh being Friday morning. I have a non political question.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Ask Mike when six hundred Pounds of Sin is getting
- 42:38Speaker 2: back together for a reunion show and tour.
- 42:40Speaker 7: Well, I think you would have to ask our former
- 42:42Speaker 7: lead singer about that. And she's doing quite well without us.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:46Speaker 7: In fact, she's starting her tour I believe in late
- 42:49Speaker 7: May in Portland, Oregon. She's going to Europe, and then
- 42:52Speaker 7: she's going to be playing in Columbus in June. And
- 42:55Speaker 7: then it was just announced that I'm talking about Sierra
- 42:57Speaker 7: used to be was a singer mar when she there
- 43:00Speaker 7: American Artists of the Year or something like that for
- 43:02Speaker 7: Grammy for Grammys. Yeah, but she's also gonna be playing

- 43:07Speaker 7: you get a chance to see her around here at
- 43:09Speaker 7: State Fair, Texas.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Mike Pushkin's like a talking robot, always putting down the
- 43:13Speaker 2: Republican Party and all the positive results Republicans are produced.
- 43:16Speaker 7: Let's name them. Okay, hey, let's wait. I'm gonna name
- 43:20Speaker 7: all the positive results the Republicans are produced. That's called
- 43:25Speaker 7: dead air in your line of work.

- 47:17Speaker 2: that's the textbook.
- 47:18Speaker 7: Again. We welcome you in the Democratic Party, whoever you may.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Be, Texas, Texas. We strongly support Holstein's bill. It keeps
- 47:26Speaker 2: people from party flipping for nefarious reasons, for like running
- 47:30Speaker 2: for office.
- 47:31Speaker 7: I mean, it's your right to run in whichever party
- 47:35Speaker 7: you want to run in. And you know what, if
- 47:36Speaker 7: they want a purity test, let the primary voters decide that.
- 47:40Speaker 7: Let the voters decide, not these party bosses who just
- 47:44Speaker 7: happen to, you know, currently be in the legislature and
- 47:46Speaker 7: have the votes to keep moving the goalposts. You know what,
- 47:50Speaker 7: As the minority party, we have to learn the rules, okay,
- 47:53Speaker 7: and we play by the rules. And they change the
- 47:54Speaker 7: rules on us for candidate recruitment last time, and we
- 47:58Speaker 7: learned the rules. We played by the rules, and we
- 48:00Speaker 7: recruited more candidates really per seat than they did, and
- 48:05Speaker 7: now they didn't like the results of that, so they're
- 48:07Speaker 7: going to move the goalposts yet again. Well, we'll continue
- 48:10Speaker 7: to play by the rules and they can keep changing
- 48:12Speaker 7: the rules.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Texas, Westervirginia. GOP is stupid to close the primary. Some
- 48:16Speaker 2: of us tried hard to reverse course, but we couldn't
- 48:18Speaker 2: overcome efforts by Governor Morrissey or Jim Butler to keep
- 48:21Speaker 2: it closed.
- 48:22Speaker 7: Yeah, and you have a mismanaged Executive Committee meeting too.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Tex says Dave. Asked, Mike, with all the obvious great
- 48:29Speaker 2: things President Trump has done to strengthen this country in
- 48:31Speaker 2: our state, surely yes to have something good to say
- 48:33Speaker 2: about these accomplishments. It's common sense, Mike.
- 48:36Speaker 7: Well, I mean, if you only think of good things,
- 48:38Speaker 7: I mean they send a letter to the FDA to
- 48:40Speaker 7: reschedule cannabis. Let's see.
- 48:42Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 48:45Speaker 7: During the first term, there was some criminal justice reform
- 48:49Speaker 7: that I agree with. But other than that, I mean,
- 48:51Speaker 7: his poll numbers are dropping for a reason. I think
- 48:54Speaker 7: it's because of the chaos that people are seeing every night,
- 48:58Speaker 7: and instead of bringing the country together at a time
- 49:00Speaker 7: where it really needs a leader. Instead of being a unifier,
- 49:03Speaker 7: he continues to pour gasoline on the fire and people
- 49:06Speaker 7: don't like that.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Texas Pushkin. Have you heard of the custodian cuts in
- 49:11Speaker 2: Kanaha County? Is anything happening in the legislature to help
- 49:14Speaker 2: with that so children don't have to clean classrooms? May
- 49:17Speaker 2: just be me, but children cleaning classrooms isn't going to
- 49:19Speaker 2: draw parents to the school system.
- 49:22Speaker 7: I'm looking more into I heard about that last night actually,
- 49:25Speaker 7: and it's something that I'm going to make some phone
- 49:27Speaker 7: calls about. I will say this, though, we've continually had
- 49:31Speaker 7: this Republican legislature make cuts to public education and pull
- 49:35Speaker 7: money out of public education to fund this completely unregulated
- 49:39Speaker 7: Hope Scholarship. I saw these posts last night on a
- 49:42Speaker 7: group it was a Hope Scholarship Facebook page, where they
- 49:46Speaker 7: were telling people how you could spend the money on
- 49:49Speaker 7: extracurricular stuff like horseback riding lessons or travel soccer teams,
- 49:53Speaker 7: like that's what our state dollars are being used for.
- 49:55Speaker 7: And it's pulling money out of public schools, and then
- 49:57Speaker 7: these county school systems are having to make these these uh,
- 50:00Speaker 7: these tough decisions like cutting back on essential staff like that.
- 50:04Speaker 7: So look before the legend, before the session started, the
- 50:07Speaker 7: legislature paid for this this study from the Rand Corporation.
- 50:10Speaker 7: It said we need to put more money into public schools.
- 50:13Speaker 7: It also said we needed to rein in the Hope scholarship.
- 50:17Speaker 7: It needs to be based on means testing. If if
- 50:20Speaker 7: these vouchers are going to the families that really need it,
- 50:23Speaker 7: that's understandable. But instead it's it's subsidizing folks that could
- 50:28Speaker 7: already afford private school and are in some cases they're
- 50:32Speaker 7: using this money for extracurricurricular activities or sending the money
- 50:35Speaker 7: out of state.
- 50:37Speaker 2: Tex says Dave Trump needs to resign like others that's
- 50:39Speaker 2: had their names in the Epstein files.
- 50:41Speaker 7: Man up, Yeah, if you look at countries in Europe,
- 50:44Speaker 7: like when they're when these whether it's you know, the
- 50:47Speaker 7: you know, royal family in Great Britain or in other
- 50:50Speaker 7: countries in Europe that they've there's been real consequences.
- 50:54Speaker 10: Uh.
- 50:54Speaker 7: Yet, what we have a Treasury Secretary Lutnik right treasures,
- 50:59Speaker 7: who's all over the teen files, and nothing's happening. Trump's
- 51:02Speaker 7: mentioned I believe they think about forty thousand times in
- 51:05Speaker 7: the epistoce. Just because you're mentioning it doesn't mean you
- 51:07Speaker 7: did anything wrong. I mean, forty thousand times. I'm just
- 51:10Speaker 7: saying I'm not a Trump fan either. I'm just saying,
- 51:13Speaker 7: just because you're mentioned, let's find out. Let's open it
- 51:15Speaker 7: up and find out exactly how he's mentioned in there. Okay,
- 51:19Speaker 7: go ahead, Texas kids in Japan cleaned their classrooms. Let's
- 51:22Speaker 7: compare test scores, says the text. Text says Pushkin.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Just not true. There are more Dims than Republicans. So's
- 51:31Speaker 2: the texture. I think you said there were more Democrats
- 51:33Speaker 2: than Republicans. If you said that, I didn't catch it.
- 51:36Speaker 2: I didn't say there were more Democrats, Okay, I didn't.
- 51:40Speaker 2: I said per seat.
- 51:41Speaker 7: We've had a better recruiting effort. If you look at
- 51:44Speaker 7: the fact that the Republicans failed to recruit Republicans in
- 51:47Speaker 7: two thirds of the House seats, that they needed to
- 51:50Speaker 7: recruit Republican because they were too busy recruiting against each other,
- 51:54Speaker 7: and Patrick morrisy led an effort to recruit against Republican incumbents.
- 51:59Speaker 7: That's the truth.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Take Democratic Party chair and Dell to get Mike Pushkin,
- 52:02Speaker 2: get on down to the idea factory.
- 52:05Speaker 7: Yeah, I just had idea. I didn't say good or bad.
- 52:07Speaker 7: Most of them have been bad. We've had a couple
- 52:09Speaker 7: of good ideas lately, but unfortunately mostly bad. But I'm
- 52:12Speaker 7: on all the way there now.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Well, good luck put a helmet up, all right? So
- 52:16Speaker 2: coming up on the Monday Show, Naomi and Sam are
