Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro is back in court, defiantly rejecting U.S. claims that his arrest was a lawful law enforcement move — calling it a kidnapping and labeling himself a prisoner of war. Taken from his Caracas home in January, Maduro faces drug trafficking charges dating back six years, allegedly conspiring with Venezuelan officials to funnel tons of cocaine into the U.S. Both he and his wife, Cilia Flores, have pleaded not guilty and are seeking to block the trial on grounds of illegal abduction, with no bail requests filed and no trial date set yet.
