- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Today we're discussing the season finale of Mistletoe Murders Season two,

- 1:09Speaker 1: both Girls at Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 1:12Speaker 2: One final plug. I would like to invite everybody to
- 1:16Speaker 2: leave a review and a rating of our podcast. The
- 1:20Speaker 2: best place to do it is in the Apple Podcast app,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but I know some of you aren't iPhone users, so
- 1:24Speaker 2: you can leave it in Spotify or wherever you listen.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But if you are an iPhone user, you can leave
- 1:29Speaker 2: a review in the app. It's the only place to
- 1:31Speaker 2: do it. You can't do it on desktop. You can
- 1:33Speaker 2: just go to girls con Hallmark, tap the five stars
- 1:36Speaker 2: and type in a review. You can only review it once,
- 1:39Speaker 2: so if you've already done it, thank you.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It will not allow you to do it again.
- 1:42Speaker 2: But let me read a recent review from Aiden, who
- 1:45Speaker 2: says this is one of my go to podcasts. Why
- 1:48Speaker 2: because it's fun to listen to and bonus, the episodes
- 1:51Speaker 2: don't drag out in length, short and snappy.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So thanks, ladies. I know Aiden, I know Aiden too, Hey, Aiden,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I know she you know I recently posted something about
- 2:02Speaker 1: Missell's Home Murders with decaption of Amy and Travis who
- 2:07Speaker 1: and she's she's a big, big time Amy and Travis fan.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And she's like yeah, She's like what And I'm like,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. But are you well that you know?
- 2:20Speaker 1: That brings up a question for you? Yes, what do
- 2:23Speaker 1: you say? Do you like this series? I know it's
- 2:27Speaker 1: hard because it's a series and mystery one on one
- 2:30Speaker 1: was you know a movie franchise with a lot of movies, right,
- 2:35Speaker 1: uh huh? Are they comparable? They're both great?
- 2:39Speaker 2: I don't know, you know, there's recency bias, So right now,
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'm like, we're talking about the finale, and I'm like, no,
- 2:46Speaker 2: we have to wait another year if we even get
- 2:49Speaker 2: a season three. Right, So, right now I'm a little
- 2:53Speaker 2: more caught up in Mistletoe murders.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I do love them both, though. Yeah, now here's my
- 2:59Speaker 1: pick fa Oh No, I'm not going to do some Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I've already received a lot of hate this week, so
- 3:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna just dial it back in the controversial topics.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I do have a question for you. Do you think
- 3:12Speaker 1: Mistletoe is on par with The Way Home in terms
- 3:16Speaker 1: of like production in quality? And do you think it's better? Oh?
- 3:21Speaker 1: They're so different. Yeah. My question to myself is like
- 3:26Speaker 1: I'm truly asking myself. Do I like this show better
- 3:29Speaker 1: than The Way Home? And I love The Way Home?
- 3:32Speaker 2: I might, But I also I tend to forget something
- 3:38Speaker 2: that I'm not actively immersed in. Yeah, and it's been
- 3:42Speaker 2: a while since we've been immersed in new seasons of
- 3:45Speaker 2: the Way Home. But I might like this more.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, I don't know either. I mean
- 3:53Speaker 1: I might be singing a completely different tune when the
- 3:57Speaker 1: next season of the Way Home comes out.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So can we really briefly talk about the Way Home. Sure, Hey, friends,
- 4:03Speaker 2: Megan here interrupting myself to let you know that this
- 4:05Speaker 2: discussion we're about to have was recorded prior to the
- 4:08Speaker 2: official announcement about The Way Home dropping. So while we
- 4:13Speaker 2: do now know that season four on The Way Home
- 4:17Speaker 2: will be the final season, we didn't know that at
- 4:20Speaker 2: the time of this recording. So if you're screaming at
- 4:22Speaker 2: the podcast, don't worry. We know, but we left the
- 4:25Speaker 2: discussion in so you could hear our thoughts on the
- 4:27Speaker 2: Way Home and how sad we were in anticipation of
- 4:32Speaker 2: this announcement, and how sad we are now knowing that
- 4:35Speaker 2: the rumors are true. There are some rumors, and they
- 4:40Speaker 2: are just that purely rumors, that The Way Home will
- 4:44Speaker 2: be canceled after season four. I don't know where that originated,
- 4:49Speaker 2: but the people that are perpetuating them are saying that
- 4:51Speaker 2: the actors were told in the second or third episode
- 4:55Speaker 2: to the end that they would not be returning, and
- 4:58Speaker 2: therefore the show is not getting it now. I have
- 5:01Speaker 2: no idea, but there's a lot to unpack there.
- 5:04Speaker 1: One like, are they ending the series because they don't
- 5:07Speaker 1: have any more story to tell? Right? Have that? That's
- 5:09Speaker 1: what's happening, or is Homework potentially canceling it because it
- 5:14Speaker 1: doesn't do well. I can't buy into that, considering the
- 5:18Speaker 1: huge push they made for like an Emmy nomination for
- 5:21Speaker 1: that show, Like I wouldn't be I can't imagine they'd
- 5:24Speaker 1: be like, well, never mind, we're giving up on the.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Show, and now that it's on Netflix, like they're not
- 5:29Speaker 2: going to look and see what happens with season four
- 5:31Speaker 2: on Homework.
- 5:32Speaker 1: After all these seasons are.
- 5:34Speaker 2: On Netflix, and right I could see the show's done. Right,
- 5:38Speaker 2: we've told the story we ended at season four. Based
- 5:42Speaker 2: on our podcast listening numbers, I'd be shocked if the
- 5:46Speaker 2: viewer numbers for The Way Home are not great. I
- 5:49Speaker 2: know that they suffered a little bit this past year
- 5:51Speaker 2: because of the way that they released them and they
- 5:53Speaker 2: had to change up their plans. I did hear rumors
- 5:57Speaker 2: that it wouldn't air until after When The Heart, which
- 6:01Speaker 2: honestly I don't think is a terrible idea. Just have
- 6:03Speaker 2: one series running at a time.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, because last year it was The Way Home on
- 6:09Speaker 1: Friday nights and when Calls The Heart on Sundays, is
- 6:11Speaker 1: that correct? Yes? Yeah, they need to move this show
- 6:14Speaker 1: back to Sundays, Yes for sure.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so just have one series at a time that
- 6:20Speaker 2: works for me.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 6:23Speaker 2: So that's out there. That's a little Hallmark News segment.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't there like a petition or something going around?
- 6:30Speaker 3: There is?
- 6:30Speaker 2: There is a change dot org petition, but it's all
- 6:34Speaker 2: based on rumors.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 6:35Speaker 2: If anybody has any concrete information, slide into the DMS
- 6:38Speaker 2: and let us know what you know.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we won't expose you, but if you have like
- 6:43Speaker 1: juicy details, Yeah, we're full of secrets. We are. We're
- 6:47Speaker 1: just like Gretchen Wieners. Our hair is full of secrets.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Great poll.

- 9:45Speaker 2: episodes of season two. Her other work includes The Spencer Sisters,
- 9:49Speaker 2: Sullivan's Crossing, and Children Ruin Everything. We're gonna take a
- 9:54Speaker 2: quick break and come right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy,
- 10:05Speaker 2: what is your first impression of twas the Fight before Christmas?
- 10:10Speaker 1: The real suspense in these episodes was waiting to see
- 10:14Speaker 1: if Sam would actually ask Emily out right.
- 10:18Speaker 2: My first impression is say it isn't so. I can't
- 10:20Speaker 2: wait another year for more installments of Mistletoe Murders.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I know six episodes is not eat enough. Nope, give
- 10:29Speaker 1: me eight at least twenty two. Bring it back like
- 10:35Speaker 1: the old days. Twenty two episodes. Yeah, yes, gosh, could
- 10:39Speaker 1: you even imagine? I love it? Uh, this is let
- 10:44Speaker 1: me just fawn over the show for a minute. It's
- 10:47Speaker 1: so good and I know I say that every week
- 10:49Speaker 1: and you're like, Wendy, shut up. You don't have anything
- 10:52Speaker 1: other to say than it's so good. But it is
- 10:54Speaker 1: so good.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And really is so good, and the viewer numbers are climbing.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I'm in climbing.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I believe they were in the nine hundred thousand range.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Oh look at that. Wow. Also, you know, I know
- 11:12Speaker 1: Peter Mooney has been in some movies, some Hallmark movies, ones.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I don't know if we've reviewed or not, But my
- 11:20Speaker 1: point is he's never really done anything for me. But
- 11:24Speaker 1: as Sam, I'm like, oh, do I need to do
- 11:27Speaker 1: a Peter Mooney deep dive? Right? I know? I agree.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I feel like, where did this leading man come from? Yeah?
- 11:36Speaker 1: He's so good.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Sam and Emily. The chemistry between them remains unmatched for me.
- 11:44Speaker 2: His facial expressions in reaction to Emily, like at the
- 11:48Speaker 2: beginning when she's like.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Coffee with the friend, What a concept?
- 11:51Speaker 2: And she's like devastated by that, and he just reacts mildly.
- 11:55Speaker 1: That scene, Yes, so good. And then there's so many like.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Your first impression, the push and pull of them where
- 12:02Speaker 2: he just keeps trying to get there and he just
- 12:05Speaker 2: can't get there.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oh, Sam, so great. Well, what's so great about that too,
- 12:12Speaker 1: is like Emily knows what's happening, Like she's fully aware,
- 12:16Speaker 1: like he's gonna ask her out, but like he just can't.
- 12:21Speaker 1: You know, it just it is so great. It is
- 12:24Speaker 1: so great. I just love that that she's she's not
- 12:27Speaker 1: like this damsel who's unaware, Like she's smart. She's fully
- 12:34Speaker 1: aware of things. I it she's almost like the perfect character. Hmmm,
- 12:43Speaker 1: slightly flawed, but like with good intentions. I just okay,
- 12:48Speaker 1: all right, let's talk about what we liked about these
- 12:50Speaker 1: two episodes. Okay. I was super invested in the characters
- 12:56Speaker 1: this week, like the mout he introduced characters. No, just
- 13:01Speaker 1: like their story. Oh h and I'll talk about it
- 13:05Speaker 1: in a second, but like the mystery part of it
- 13:07Speaker 1: was totally secondary for me in this episode. In these
- 13:11Speaker 1: two episodes, I was so happy that we were getting
- 13:15Speaker 1: movement on Sam and Emily, like they're moving somewhere, right,
- 13:19Speaker 1: We're not just in this like holding pattern. We get
- 13:23Speaker 1: way more on Emily's backstory, which I loved, and then
- 13:27Speaker 1: of course we get the return of Aaron, which at
- 13:31Speaker 1: times I actually said out loud. I was like, he
- 13:34Speaker 1: scares me. He's scary. That actor plays a real piece
- 13:39Speaker 1: of you know what on Ginny and Georgia too, so
- 13:43Speaker 1: I think I might be bringing a little bit of
- 13:44Speaker 1: that into it. But the character of Aaron really worries me.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I was very worried the final scene, if we may
- 13:50Speaker 1: just jump to that, look, you know something bad is
- 13:53Speaker 1: coming because she's so happy and she's like, I can't
- 13:55Speaker 1: wait for Sam to come up here. I mean, you
- 13:57Speaker 1: just know, you just know. And then when she is
- 14:00Speaker 1: in a stranger she has let her guard down. Oh no,
- 14:05Speaker 1: the second she lets her guard down, he gets in.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It's so good.
- 14:11Speaker 2: You know you talked a lot about our characters in
- 14:13Speaker 2: this episode, Can I tell you? For some reason, I
- 14:17Speaker 2: really loved the ray in Emily's apartment scenes. There's something
- 14:21Speaker 2: so this is gonna sound odd, so cozy and warm
- 14:25Speaker 2: about them, which I fully understand is incongruous for several reasons.
- 14:30Speaker 2: One she's hiding him as the result of the fact
- 14:33Speaker 2: that he's a suspect in a crime. And two he
- 14:36Speaker 2: broke into her apartment, which is a little bit creepy.
- 14:39Speaker 2: But their friendship and just her having somebody there something
- 14:44Speaker 2: about it really worked for me.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah. I love this relationship, and I love that he's
- 14:51Speaker 1: such a bigger part of her life this season two.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, he's really just such a part of the town
- 14:58Speaker 2: and everybody's life so much more than season one.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not this like shady guy that like works
- 15:03Speaker 1: in this like, you know, I thought it was a
- 15:05Speaker 1: electronics store. Apparently it's furniture. Anyway, it gives it to me,
- 15:12Speaker 1: is giving like a father daughter relationship, like a trusting
- 15:18Speaker 1: father daughter relationship there, you know. I As I say that,
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm like, do we know the real backstory of Emily's parents?
- 15:25Speaker 2: I think they actually did die in like a car accident.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I think so, Yeah, I think that's true. I can't remember. Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I love those scenes where he's like taking care of
- 15:37Speaker 1: the cats and like whatever I find him. I find
- 15:41Speaker 1: Ray very enjoyable me too.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Can we talk about Emily Slash Grace's scenes from the past. Yes,
- 15:49Speaker 2: First of all, I loved how much we got of that,
- 15:52Speaker 2: But I have some questions for you. At the end
- 15:55Speaker 2: of last episode, we had said, flashing to the boarding
- 15:58Speaker 2: school scene where we discover money has been taken in there,
- 16:00Speaker 2: teacher has been framed, we assumed Aarin was behind all.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Of that, right.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Aaron confronts her in this episode and he's like, when
- 16:09Speaker 2: she finds out that he's been skimming money off the
- 16:13Speaker 2: top and setting money aside, and he's.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Like, I had to.
- 16:17Speaker 2: She's getting worried that they're gonna get caught and he's like,
- 16:19Speaker 2: remember all those years ago, I had to protect you,
- 16:21Speaker 2: I had to set her up to protect you. And
- 16:23Speaker 2: then she says, but I didn't steal that money, right, So.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Who did I still think Aaron? Did I think Aarin's
- 16:33Speaker 1: gaslighting her? Oh? Interesting? Interesting?
- 16:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:37Speaker 1: I think I don't know exactly how to describe it,
- 16:41Speaker 1: and I'm sure it has a name for it. But
- 16:43Speaker 1: you know, like when your abuser has like a calm syndrome. Yeah,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I think Derek, Derek, I think Aarin is definitely the
- 16:52Speaker 1: one who did it now in you know, after seeing
- 16:55Speaker 1: this final episode. Yeah, I definitely think so, because we
- 17:00Speaker 1: already we see in those younger scenes of Emily and she,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you know, she's stealing from a billionaire to give to
- 17:07Speaker 1: people who actually deserve, like a Robin Hood Gak situation. Yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 1: so I don't think her motives. She does not strike
- 17:16Speaker 1: me as that she was doing things with ill intention,
- 17:20Speaker 1: even back in high school. Yes, I agree, I agree.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so you think Aaron was just gaslighting her like
- 17:27Speaker 2: I was protecting you even though Yeah, yeah, yeah I do.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I do. I am glad that we did get confirmation
- 17:36Speaker 1: on that, like that that thread was tied because I've
- 17:41Speaker 1: been thinking about it all week.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Actually, what my as I mentioned, my neighbor and his
- 17:47Speaker 2: family are all in on this show. He had texted me.
- 17:49Speaker 2: He was like, hey, Jack, who's his twelve year old son.
- 17:52Speaker 2: He's like, he'd really like me to ask you to
- 17:54Speaker 2: use your Hallmark influence to get more episodes of Mistletone Murders.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, we get right on that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: But I said, curious, what do you think of that
- 18:03Speaker 2: Emily Aaron exchange and who do you think stole the money?
- 18:07Speaker 2: And he said, we one hundred percent are a unanimous
- 18:09Speaker 2: agreement that Emily was the one behind it.
- 18:11Speaker 1: So oh that was interesting. Oh why? I mean, I'm goodding.
- 18:17Speaker 1: If Kim cooperis is listening, I'm gonna need him to
- 18:20Speaker 1: shoot us an email. We'll keep it a secret. Yes,
- 18:23Speaker 1: we'll keep it a secret, just like let us know
- 18:26Speaker 1: what the inside baseball is here, you know. I also
- 18:30Speaker 1: saw on Reddit somebody was saying like, oh, I loved
- 18:33Speaker 1: Emily until she framed the teacher, and I was like,
- 18:37Speaker 1: we don't know that to be true. Yeah, I'm like, no, no, no,
- 18:41Speaker 1: like Emily is not the bad guy here anyway.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think they're painting her kind of
- 18:46Speaker 2: like on the edges of the law, right because we
- 18:48Speaker 2: see her like she is breaking the law. She is
- 18:50Speaker 2: stealing this money, but in her mind, she's stealing it
- 18:52Speaker 2: order to do good, to redistribute it because these people
- 18:56Speaker 2: have gotten their money in ill gotten ways, and so
- 18:59Speaker 2: she's it back to the people who they've harmed in
- 19:03Speaker 2: many ways, and so she's, you know, kind of like.
- 19:07Speaker 1: In a bit of a gray area.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I have another clarification question that I would like to
- 19:12Speaker 2: ask you. When she and Sam are on their date,
- 19:14Speaker 2: he says, were you a cop? And she says intelligence?
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yes? Was it your.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Understanding that she was officially working with like the CIA? Like,
- 19:27Speaker 2: I find it very hard to believe that this person
- 19:31Speaker 2: who was arrested and then working as an informant becomes
- 19:34Speaker 2: an actual employee or is she just on her own
- 19:39Speaker 2: running her own secret operations trying to find aarin.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I mean, that's a good question. I went back because
- 19:46Speaker 1: I went back to the part where she was arrested
- 19:48Speaker 1: and I was like, who's technically arresting her here? Yeah?
- 19:52Speaker 1: Was that ever clear? Of? Like? No, what agency is
- 19:56Speaker 1: arresting her? Uh huh, It's not clear to me.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And then they she has that interrogation and they're like,
- 20:02Speaker 2: thank you for working with us, this will work well
- 20:04Speaker 2: in your favor.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. I kind of love the idea
- 20:09Speaker 1: thinking that she's some sort of spy agent or something
- 20:14Speaker 1: like that.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah, because she says it seems to me in the
- 20:19Speaker 2: end when she's saying, as far as the world is concerned,
- 20:21Speaker 2: Grace is gone, and she said I was given the
- 20:23Speaker 2: chance to start over with a new life. So it's like, oh,
- 20:25Speaker 2: she's kind of in witness protection. Yeah, yeah, in an
- 20:29Speaker 2: official capacity. So all of those details. I am very
- 20:33Speaker 2: interested in the details of how all of this works.
- 20:36Speaker 2: And for me, I'm like, no, wait, tell me more.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I need all the details. Well, I think hopefully we
- 20:41Speaker 1: in another season. We sure. This is where I'm like,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I need to spoil. I have to listen to the
- 20:47Speaker 1: Audible series over the Christmas break. I'm gonna listen. I'm
- 20:51Speaker 1: gonna binge too. I'm hoping I get more, more answers,
- 20:54Speaker 1: more clarification. There are very few shows that I just
- 20:57Speaker 1: want to eat up, but this is one of the
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'm so excited to sit down and watch. I cannot
- 21:03Speaker 1: get enough. I cannot get enough I don't know if
- 21:06Speaker 1: you remember, but when we did season one, when we
- 21:09Speaker 1: reviewed season one, there was a scene, a fight scene
- 21:14Speaker 1: between Emily's Oh can we talk about it? Asked, I
- 21:17Speaker 1: literally was going to ask you if you thought it
- 21:19Speaker 1: was better Emily Sarah Drew as Emily kicked ass in
- 21:23Speaker 1: the scene in the knife scene. Oh my god, it
- 21:27Speaker 1: was so good.
- 21:28Speaker 2: It's so funny, because in my notes, I loved the
- 21:32Speaker 2: staging of the fight scene in the hallway with the knife,
- 21:34Speaker 2: and I even loved like a little bit of humor
- 21:36Speaker 2: where the other girl grabs a knife. She's like, well
- 21:38Speaker 2: that hardly seems fair. So funny. But I was wondering
- 21:42Speaker 2: because I specifically remember you feeling like that Graveside fight
- 21:45Speaker 2: scene was a little hokey.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yes, yes, not so much. Here. I don't know what happened,
- 21:51Speaker 1: Like maybe they hired some fight coordinator or choreographer or
- 21:57Speaker 1: she was on the Sydney Bristow regiment and I don't know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: but she kicked ass and I loved it. I loved
- 22:07Speaker 1: it five stars for that alone. I thought that was great,
- 22:11Speaker 1: super great. Another thing that I really liked I loved
- 22:16Speaker 1: that actress Danny Kind was in these two episodes for
- 22:20Speaker 1: somebody who loved Working Moms. I loved that show. If
- 22:26Speaker 1: you've never watched it, it is not Hallmark by any means.
- 22:31Speaker 1: A little bit racy, a lot of racy, and a
- 22:34Speaker 1: really douchebag Victor Webster. Isn't it as well? Like watch
- 22:38Speaker 1: it you might like it, but so hot in it though, totally.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But Anne, the character Anne was always kind of like
- 22:46Speaker 1: angry all the time, like just had this simmering intensity,
- 22:49Speaker 1: and I thought that actress Danny kind brought that a
- 22:52Speaker 1: little bit to this character of Lauren as well. I
- 22:56Speaker 1: just thought it was great casting. And when I was watching,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I was like, Dan kind of was a redhead. Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and Moms and I'm watching this and I was like,
- 23:03Speaker 1: her mannerisms are so familiar to me. And I was like,
- 23:07Speaker 1: there's no way that's her from Working Moms. There's no way.
- 23:10Speaker 1: So then like I I amd beat it, and sure
- 23:13Speaker 1: enough it was her, and I was so excited, so excited,
- 23:17Speaker 1: I could not.
- 23:19Speaker 2: For the first half of the episode, could not place her.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I said, I know her, and it was just like
- 23:24Speaker 2: right at the tip of my brain and I could
- 23:25Speaker 2: not access it. And then as soon as I realized
- 23:28Speaker 2: it was working moms. It all fell into place. But
- 23:31Speaker 2: she was great in this. I agree. I thought so too.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I have a couple more likes. The freezer scene was
- 23:39Speaker 1: a real highlight for me. Yeah, you know, I guess
- 23:42Speaker 1: it's not uncommon when there's like high stakes, when like
- 23:45Speaker 1: you don't feel like you have nothing left to lose,
- 23:47Speaker 1: You're just gonna say what you're gonna say, right. I
- 23:50Speaker 1: just thought that this was such a great scene, A
- 23:53Speaker 1: huge moment of trust between Emily and Sam and she
- 23:57Speaker 1: shares like what her real name is and he doesn't
- 23:59Speaker 1: push for more. I just thought it was so good
- 24:01Speaker 1: and then they kiss and I gotta tell you this
- 24:05Speaker 1: solid eight, solid eight on this smoochimeter.
- 24:08Speaker 2: For me, I thought it was really nice too, really nice.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And I you know me, I've got like such a
- 24:16Speaker 1: filthy mind. I was like, look, that is one way
- 24:18Speaker 1: to keep some heat between the bodies if you guys
- 24:20Speaker 1: are cold, So let's get to it. They're trying to
- 24:26Speaker 1: stay alive with bodness sinks. Speed it up. I was like,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you want to die just next to each other or
- 24:35Speaker 1: do you want to get naked and create some warmth.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Let's do it and at least enjoy your last moments
- 24:40Speaker 2: on Earth exactly exactly. Well, It's like, isn't nearly as
- 24:45Speaker 2: exciting as yours? Okay, but I did really enjoy diving
- 24:49Speaker 2: deeper into Violet's character, Oh, meeting her mom, understanding the
- 24:54Speaker 2: pressure her mom was putting on her, violin.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Finally guilt, the guilt I felt watching the me too,
- 25:01Speaker 1: Me too.
- 25:02Speaker 2: But I thought it was a great way to deepen
- 25:04Speaker 2: our understanding of Violet as more than just Sam's daughter
- 25:08Speaker 2: and Emily's employee at the Mistletoe, and that she finally
- 25:14Speaker 2: just talks to her mom about it and has a
- 25:16Speaker 2: conversation with her, and she and her mom come to
- 25:19Speaker 2: a nice place. I thought the character of Monica, you know.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I liked that she.
- 25:23Speaker 2: And Emily seemed to come to an agreement and when
- 25:26Speaker 2: she asks Emily about Sam, and Emily finally is like,
- 25:29Speaker 2: oh can I plead the fifth? I thought that was nice.
- 25:31Speaker 2: It could have very easily gone contentious.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to talk about it some more in
- 25:37Speaker 1: my wishes, Okay, but yeah, I hear you.
- 25:40Speaker 2: But I'm glad that we got to meet her and
- 25:42Speaker 2: she didn't just exist offscreen. And mostly I liked it
- 25:45Speaker 2: for learning more about our girl Violet.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Violet was peak Violet for me in episodes three and four, Like,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I loved her little quirkiness. This, this was nice, Like
- 25:56Speaker 1: we get to understand Violet a little bit more. I'm trying.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Did she say she was going to take like a
- 26:02Speaker 1: gap year, like she was going to figure it out?
- 26:04Speaker 1: Seems like it. Yes, Yeah, I'm like, okay, this is
- 26:07Speaker 1: how is this gonna explain? Why why she's around? Still
- 26:11Speaker 1: around next year? I mean, even if it's Christmas break
- 26:15Speaker 1: and she was away at college, she might be home
- 26:17Speaker 1: by then, but you know you can't send your one
- 26:21Speaker 1: of your very few characters off to college. No, she's
- 26:25Speaker 1: an integral What if I'm like, what if she ends
- 26:29Speaker 1: up doing work for Emily? I got it, but my
- 26:32Speaker 1: death that's the case. Anyway. Do you have any other likes? No,
- 26:36Speaker 1: let's talk wishes all right? For me? The mystery itself
- 26:40Speaker 1: was my least favorite of this season. Oh, I I
- 26:46Speaker 1: think the show. I'm not super interested in the mystery movies.
- 26:52Speaker 1: We've said it time and time again, like sometimes they're
- 26:55Speaker 1: they're just not executed well all the time to convolute
- 26:59Speaker 1: it did too many red herrings details that just wash
- 27:04Speaker 1: over me, and I have liked all of them this season,
- 27:07Speaker 1: and in season one is this is the one that
- 27:09Speaker 1: I was like least interested in I was in, I
- 27:13Speaker 1: was not interested until it all came together. But like
- 27:17Speaker 1: I said before, like I was so invested in the
- 27:22Speaker 1: characters and like their own storylines than the mystery itself.
- 27:28Speaker 2: It's interesting that you say that because I actually like
- 27:31Speaker 2: this mystery so much more than last week's. And I
- 27:34Speaker 2: think because it wasn't overly convoluted in my mind. There's
- 27:39Speaker 2: a last minute reveal, of course, of why everything was
- 27:42Speaker 2: happening the way it was happening. But I liked the
- 27:44Speaker 2: pieces of the mystery. I think they serve, like you said,
- 27:48Speaker 2: better to move our main characters forward than anything else,
- 27:53Speaker 2: because Emily and Sam find themselves in the freezer, and
- 27:55Speaker 2: we get the Emily and Ray together, and all of
- 27:57Speaker 2: these things work to keep our character storyline moving forward.
- 28:01Speaker 2: And I did think it was secondary to the main story,
- 28:04Speaker 2: but I didn't find it distracting from the story. Oh
- 28:07Speaker 2: I'm not distracting either. Definitely secondary maybe even third what's tertiary?
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yes, I did like the like the fake chef situation though,
- 28:17Speaker 1: oh yeah, fake French when they like call him out,
- 28:20Speaker 1: He's like, actually, like the drop of the accent. Oh,
- 28:25Speaker 1: it was so funny. Yeah, it was so funny, very funny.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Do you have any more wishes? I do? I just
- 28:33Speaker 1: a couple of little ones. Back to Monica Sam's ex.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I had it in my notes last week, but I
- 28:40Speaker 1: don't think I brought it up on the podcast. I
- 28:43Speaker 1: had written down. Oh, I'm interested to see if Sam's
- 28:46Speaker 1: X comes back into play because we got like the
- 28:49Speaker 1: whole setup of like he gave her socks as well, right,
- 28:53Speaker 1: you know all that storyline. I was like, oh, he
- 28:55Speaker 1: did really love her at one point, like and then
- 28:59Speaker 1: she comes back and there's like nothing. I was like,
- 29:02Speaker 1: give me a glimmer of a conflict, nothing, like nobody's
- 29:09Speaker 1: threatened by her, Emily's not threatened by her, She's not
- 29:11Speaker 1: threatened by Emily. Like nothing.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, it's funny because they had so
- 29:17Speaker 2: many opportunities to build jealousy in and when the trivia
- 29:22Speaker 2: scene for me is the most telling, when she realizes
- 29:25Speaker 2: that Emily's not at trivia with Violet. She really had
- 29:28Speaker 2: an opportunity to turn Violet against Emily, and she didn't.
- 29:32Speaker 2: She just used it as an opportunity to spend time
- 29:34Speaker 2: with her daughter.
- 29:36Speaker 1: It's almost too wholesome. Maybe yeah, yeah, maybe I think
- 29:40Speaker 1: you've hit it on the head there. I agree. I
- 29:42Speaker 1: agree one other thing too. I hate that this is
- 29:46Speaker 1: a wish. But you mentioned earlier that scene where Sam
- 29:50Speaker 1: and Emily and she says something about like, oh, coffee
- 29:52Speaker 1: with a friend whatever, right, and the look on his face,
- 29:56Speaker 1: and then after their whole freezer conversation, Emily kind of
- 30:00Speaker 1: gives him an out about like going on on a date.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, no, we're headed down this
- 30:08Speaker 1: road of these like miscommunication, missed the opportunities. I'm not
- 30:14Speaker 1: going to act on it. And I wanted Sam to
- 30:15Speaker 1: be like, no, you're not hearing me this. I wanted
- 30:19Speaker 1: more than this.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, he was a little too quick to give
- 30:23Speaker 2: in to her brushing, like she was giving him an
- 30:25Speaker 2: out and he was a little too quick.
- 30:27Speaker 1: To accept it. Correct But the gazebo moment, like course corrected,
- 30:32Speaker 1: So I was fine, Like it wasn't like this full
- 30:34Speaker 1: dragged out you know, season three storyline. Yes, yeah, that's it.
- 30:41Speaker 1: My wishes say.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I wish for nothing but longer seasons, more episodes and
- 30:44Speaker 2: November twenty twenty six to come.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Quickly, right, they need to start. Well, it's November nineteenth.
- 30:51Speaker 1: When did it start? It started like right after Halloween, right, yes?
- 30:55Speaker 1: Can it run like all of November and all of
- 30:58Speaker 1: December with this twelve US six weeks of episode?
- 31:01Speaker 2: Yes?
- 31:02Speaker 1: Yes, please please? Well let's talk. Did you see that?
- 31:07Speaker 1: I have just two let's hear them. Drunk suit is
- 31:13Speaker 1: a gift? No notes. I thought she was freaking hilarious,
- 31:18Speaker 1: so good and so kind of like anti homewark. Yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 1: she's used so sparingly, but she's used so effectively. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 31:30Speaker 1: I wouldn't recommend the meat love this week. It just great.
- 31:33Speaker 1: My other thing is there were containers in the freezer. Now,
- 31:39Speaker 1: at first I was like, oh, they're just in like
- 31:41Speaker 1: a walk in refrigerator. But there was these containers in
- 31:43Speaker 1: their refrigerator that had a November date on them. It
- 31:46Speaker 1: said like eleven slash whatever. And but now thinking about it,
- 31:50Speaker 1: I'm like, well no, Initially I was like, oh a
- 31:55Speaker 1: November date on those things. This is supposed to take
- 31:58Speaker 1: place like closer to Christmas, so those would be kind
- 32:01Speaker 1: of like out of like they would be spoiled. But
- 32:05Speaker 1: if they were in the freezer. Then I guess it's
- 32:07Speaker 1: okay that they went into the freezer for a November date.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Maybe that's when they but maybe that's when they were yeah,
- 32:15Speaker 2: purchased or created or yeah, exactly exactly.
- 32:19Speaker 1: So I was like, oh, look at that. I could
- 32:21Speaker 1: see it's right there, like they have the timing all
- 32:23Speaker 1: messed up. But now I think they're actually in a freezer,
- 32:26Speaker 1: and that would make sense if they were. Those items
- 32:29Speaker 1: were created on those dates and put into the freezer
- 32:32Speaker 1: at that time.
- 32:32Speaker 2: So that's all my didity. That's are just a few
- 32:35Speaker 2: things that I liked. I loved Brooke saying the Christmas
- 32:41Speaker 2: Store is staying open all years, seems like a bad
- 32:43Speaker 2: business model. I loved Emily saying thanks Uncle Buck to
- 32:48Speaker 2: Ray when he makes a big stack of pancakes. Yes, yes, yes,
- 32:53Speaker 2: I just loved the trivia scene overall. I like the
- 32:56Speaker 2: inclusion of trivia and I thought that was fun. And
- 32:59Speaker 2: I loved the opening scene with the fight and then
- 33:02Speaker 2: we flash back a week and then come back to
- 33:04Speaker 2: that at the end. I loved the staging of that. Yeah, overall,
- 33:09Speaker 2: fan frea fantastic. What did you rate this duo of episodes?
- 33:14Speaker 2: Five stars?
- 33:14Speaker 1: Five stars? For me, it's so good. You know, if
- 33:18Speaker 1: you recall you rted episodes one and two A four
- 33:22Speaker 1: I think maybe four and a half because you were like,
- 33:25Speaker 1: I need like room to grow, Yeah, but easily came
- 33:30Speaker 1: home with a five. Yeah. Yeah, I think so too.
- 33:34Speaker 1: It's spectacular. Bring it back, Bring it back. I'm telling
- 33:42Speaker 1: you I'm gonna throw on an audible right now. Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Hey, thank you for listening to this episode of Girls
