- 0:36Speaker 3: Another big issue we found really fast is that everyone is lost here.
- 0:39Speaker 3: People can't.
- 0:41Speaker 3: They don't know where the blouse room is, much less where something inside of it is.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It's all coming up this week on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Let's get to it and spin that wheel.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Let's go to.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Vegas baby, let's go tonight, right now, let's go to Vegas.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Welcome to episode 174 of Vegas.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Revealed Sean McAllister here, along with Dana Roselli And you know, dana.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It feels like this Golden Knights championship celebration has been going on for weeks.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I know I'm like today.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I was on Instagram saying we can all now resume to our regularly scheduled program because, it's like whoa, everything has affected what we're doing every day when it comes to celebrations, game five, how far we are.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So every day, we're like, okay, we need to be done by this time.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So anyway, yes, we are kind of back to normal now.
- 1:36Speaker 1: We are, and we did go out and watch the championship victory parade out on the Las Vegas Strip from a really nice patio view.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, we had reservations at Ocean Prime before it opened And we were going to cancel.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And then we thought you know what?
- 1:52Speaker 2: the parade's going to come right by here, Can we have the patio?
- 1:55Speaker 2: And they were like, absolutely, And it worked out perfect.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it did, and we're going to have more on Ocean Prime and our experience there coming up in just a few minutes and why everybody who walks in the door, they say, is treated like a VIP.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a brand new restaurant, so we'll tell you more about that in a bit.
- 2:13Speaker 2: When we did go to eat that night, you actually picked us up and me and my friend Melissa, and then after that we were going to a show, so we were going to go to dinner, then we were going to go to a show.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So I thought, okay, sean's driving, so I don't really have to like walk much.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I'm going to wear my really nice heels expensive heels that were a gift from one of my friends because I can So.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But then I knew, well, then we're going to go over to the garage and we're going to have a lot of walking to do through the casino, so I brought my roller soles.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I know it's a genius.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So, listen, you need to go to our show notes and click the link to look around and browse around.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But I want to tell you about roller soles.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But I also want you to know that I actually went to roller soul and said send us a link.
- 2:58Speaker 2: We only talk about things that we actually really use and like here on the podcast.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Right, and what was astounding to me is that you had two pairs of shoes inside of your the bag that you were carrying and it was not a big bag, no, you had a pair of roller soles for you, a pair of roller soles for Melissa.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I was like, wait a second, where did these, all these extra pairs of shoes come from?
- 3:24Speaker 2: I know it's great.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Listen.
- 3:25Speaker 2: They roll up kind of like that, you know, just like, and you can throw them in and the roller soles are just.
- 3:30Speaker 2: They're more sturdy than the little like ballet flats that people buy and they have really cool hip designs, current designs.
- 3:37Speaker 2: That's what I love about it.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And you're walking through the casino, you don't feel like I had these little ballet flats on.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You feel like I've actually got really, you know, normal shoes on and then they just fold back up.
- 3:48Speaker 2: So browse around.
- 3:49Speaker 2: We have a link in our show notes and we do get a little bit of commission If you order through that link.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It helps us with the podcast.
- 3:56Speaker 2: So take a look.
- 3:57Speaker 2: They just unveiled some new hot pink ones and they also have like ones that are like slides, that are sandals, So really handy right now.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Well, and on top of being comfy and convenient, they're also.
- 4:08Speaker 1: they're really cute.
- 4:09Speaker 1: They are the three C's comfy, convenient and cute.
- 4:11Speaker 1: There you go.
- 4:13Speaker 2: All for roller soles, and they're based here in Las Vegas, which I love.
- 4:15Speaker 1: You can find vending machines here and there on the strip, so but I mean, listen, they're a good thing to have with you when you're walking around down on the Las Vegas strip.
- 4:23Speaker 2: No bare feet.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Women walking around, please.
- 4:26Speaker 2: No, no barf.
- 4:28Speaker 1: No, roll your soul, don't do that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So the show that we were going to see over at the Mirage was Kathy Griffin, yeah, and then, as an actress, has returned to the Las Vegas stage after six years away, and, man, that theater was packed.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It was.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You know it was a one off show but she's added another one already for the fall, which is great to hear for her.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Kathy, you know, has not, like you said, been on stage in a long time.
- 4:58Speaker 2: You could tell that she was very, i would say a little vulnerable in her performance.
- 5:04Speaker 2: She was worried how it would come across, worry how she was going to be received.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Obviously, people are buying tickets to see her.
- 5:10Speaker 2: They want to be there, but you know it was a big moment for her.
- 5:13Speaker 1: It was, And she even said that she was nervous that her legs were shaking as she was up there.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So she was like guys, listen, I'm really nervous to be up here.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I haven't done shows like this in a really long time, So just bear with me.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've actually never seen Kathy do stand up before.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I've seen her TV shows and stuff like that And it's been a long time.
- 5:33Speaker 2: So I wasn't sure quite you know what to expect And I wasn't sure is she going to bring up the pass?
- 5:38Speaker 2: How is this going to go.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I don't think we need to go through what Kathy did, that kind of got her canceled for a very long time and in a lot of trouble and people were harassing her and stuff like that.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I mean, she did something that was very inappropriate.
- 5:52Speaker 2: She kind of crossed the line.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And I feel like she crossed the line, she was canceled, she paid the price And at least everyone knows.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Ok, that went too far.
- 6:04Speaker 2: It's not acceptable.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It was a learning lesson for a lot of people.
- 6:08Speaker 2: She got through it and she didn't really bring a lot of it up and she was like really good at storytelling in a funny way during the show.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's what she's always been so good at is, when you go to her show, she launches into a story and then she'll go off on a tangent, and what impresses me is that she always comes back to her original story, even like three tangents in Oh my gosh.
- 6:33Speaker 1: She'll be like oh OK, now let me get back to what I was talking about before, and I can't do that even in a regular conversation.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, i know I lose my train of thought.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'm like forget about what I was saying before, because I don't remember.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah, i know.
- 6:47Speaker 2: I mean she kept saying she did have some notes on the floor, but she's like I haven't even gotten to note number three yet, because I've gone off on like 600 tangents.
- 6:53Speaker 2: She was well received.
- 6:55Speaker 2: the crowd was loving it and supportive of her.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Like we love you, They were rooting for her.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Sia was in the audience.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I had no idea.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Kathy and Sia.
- 7:03Speaker 2: I love Sia, i love her music, so I was like what?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, i mean, you know chandelier.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yes, you know, i want to swing from chandelier.
- 7:13Speaker 2: An unstoppable her more current song.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Love that song.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I use it in a bunch of my reels already.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and I didn't realize that she had written Shine Bright Like a Diamond for Rihanna.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah, i mean, I don't know Me either.
- 7:25Speaker 2: So and she actually said, hey, all right, Sia, they want to hear a line or two.
- 7:30Speaker 2: And from her seat she sang a line, a line or two from her songs, and the crowd was going wild.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So that was fun to hear her like raw voice and she sounded just like her, Oh my gosh, she belted it out and sounded absolutely phenomenal.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So that was really cool, sia, and the other special guest in the audience was Stormy Daniels.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that was random too, right, she's like Stormy's here.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, a couple of Kathy's friends.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, she's back for another show in October, as we mentioned.
- 7:56Speaker 2: So if you want to get tickets to see Kathy, she'll be over at the Mirage in the theater there where they do a lot of stand up comedy.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It's the same theater that Shin Lim performs his magic show.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah, All right.
- 8:07Speaker 1: now let's get back to that new steak and seafood restaurant where we watched the Golden Knights Victory Parade.
- 8:14Speaker 1: We went to a preview event over at Ocean Prime and then we returned for a full-on dinner.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we sure did.
- 8:23Speaker 2: So we have gotten our fix of Ocean Prime, that's for sure, and we've tried it all, So we loved it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: We did sit down with David Miller when we were there, and he's the founder and chief operating officer of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, which owns Ocean Prime.
- 8:37Speaker 2: So this is their first Las Vegas location and they're calling it the flagship location.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Sean, we're sitting here at the brand new Ocean Prime.
- 8:46Speaker 2: It sits beautifully on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 8:49Speaker 2: What do you think so far?
- 8:50Speaker 1: I mean, i don't know that there's any better view overlooking the Las Vegas Strip.
- 8:56Speaker 1: It's pretty sensational.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And we're here with the guy who's over all Ocean Primes.
- 9:02Speaker 1: David, tell me how excited you are about having this location and having it be your flagship.
- 9:09Speaker 1: How special is this?
- 9:11Speaker 4: Well, sean and Dana, we have been looking for so many years to come to Las Vegas and many, many trips out, some business, some personal, but regardless, many, many trips out.
- 9:24Speaker 4: And this is just fabulous location.
- 9:26Speaker 4: They, as I said, you had me at hello.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I mean, we came here and we have a great partnership with Brett Torino and the location is fabulous and the ease and access to the restaurant is even better.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Well, it's interesting because when we posted that you guys were coming here on our social media we got a bunch of personal and private messages from different people all across the country saying Ocean Prime's my favorite.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'm so excited.
- 9:50Speaker 2: What do you think it is about Ocean Prime that people love so much?
- 9:55Speaker 4: Well, listen, we build beautiful restaurants and we have incredible food, but the hospitality and the culture you feel in the restaurant the little Midwestern hospitality, as we like to say is we treat guests like every guest in your own home and I think just the warmth, the genuineness and the quality of what they receive when they're here is just hopefully over the top.
- 10:16Speaker 1: For them And that Midwestern hospitality.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I mean Dana and I both grew up in Rochester, new York, so we're great lakes people.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I think we kind of feed off that Midwestern hospitality too For people who grew up further west and who don't get that, or further east and who don't get that.
- 10:37Speaker 1: explain what that hospitality means.
- 10:41Speaker 4: So we have a part of our culture is a little.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Yes is the answer, and that is a quote that you know we ingrain in our team to ensure that our hospitality is genuine from the heart and heartfelt, and we'll go above and beyond for whatever the guests' needs are.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And our culinary experience in our restaurants is hopefully everybody feels it's extraordinary.
- 11:06Speaker 4: We go to great lengths.
- 11:07Speaker 4: It's made from scratch everything in the restaurant.
- 11:10Speaker 4: We have an incredible chef team that we've assembled here in Las Vegas probably the most tenured chef team we've ever had open a restaurant, and I think you'll feel the experience and taste the experience when you get here.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And I feel like right now and always, you know, when people come to Las Vegas, they have a special night out, they have a casual night out.
- 11:30Speaker 2: They kind of mix it up.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I mean, i think that a lot of people are going to choose Ocean Prime for it's the flagship restaurant but also kind of like their flagship night.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I mean, talk a little bit about the experience that you tried to bring people, what they're going to get when they come here.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I mean the variety of foods and what your bar's like.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, so anytime we open a restaurant, we always want to design and make a restaurant feel for that community and that city we're in.
- 11:54Speaker 4: No Ocean Prime looks alike And the beauty of what we've done here in Vegas is we've created a lot of different experiences.
- 12:01Speaker 4: You walk in, you have this dimly lit, very cool, warm bar, you know great music vibes, and then you walk into this expansive dining room with views of the strip and you get the energy from that And you walk out to this gorgeous terrace That might be one of the largest dining terraces, i think, out here in Vegas.
- 12:18Speaker 4: That just looks spectacular And you get the energy, certainly off the strip.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And I know Dana and I always talk about the importance of terrace dining And we are astounded at the lack of terrace dining here in Las Vegas.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean, do you guys feel like you hit the jackpot with this location, this view, and I mean also the hospitality that you can partner with that?
- 12:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, the jackpot will remain to be seen.
- 12:50Speaker 4: We'll see But obviously it was a selling point.
- 12:53Speaker 4: We love it And just the energy you get when you walk out there and you're right from.
- 12:59Speaker 4: You know a lot of great restaurants in the city, a lot of great terraces, but being right on Harmon and Las Vegas Boulevard and feeling it and touching it certainly a selling point for us.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Hopefully it'll be for our guests as well.
- 13:13Speaker 2: When you sat down and said where's our next location going to be and what's going to be our flagship restaurant, was, like Las Vegas already, just a no-brainer?
- 13:19Speaker 2: Or did you have some other cities in mind?
- 13:21Speaker 2: I am just curious.
- 13:22Speaker 4: So we have.
- 13:23Speaker 4: We've been looking in Las Vegas.
- 13:24Speaker 4: My joke is, i've been with the company 27 years, cam and I have been partners And I think 26 years we've been looking in Las Vegas.
- 13:32Speaker 4: But we're very opportunistic And we go where we feel we can bring a great restaurant to a great community And Las Vegas is the land of incredible restaurants Obviously, a lot of other great things as well.
- 13:45Speaker 4: So it's always been on our list to be here.
- 13:47Speaker 4: But we're very patient and we look for the best location and iconic location We like to call marquee location, and that's what we felt this was.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I know that it's the.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Everything here is brand new, built from the ground up, but it has a vibe, like it has some soul to it, like it has Vegas soul to it.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's true, yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Yeah, so we partnered with a new designer that I've been wanting to work with for years And her name is Karen Harold And she's a Studio K out of Chicago.
- 14:20Speaker 4: She's done incredible restaurants throughout the country, done some restaurants here, did the original Palm when Palm opened up here in the hotel and all that.
- 14:29Speaker 4: But she worked with us, she understood what we wanted and just brought it to life And her vision, the team's vision that we collaborated with, was really just special And I think you'll feel it when she walk in here.
- 14:43Speaker 2: All of it's going to be in demand.
- 14:44Speaker 2: People love to dine inside and outside.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I'm sure the patio is going to be in demand.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You guys already are available on open table.
- 14:50Speaker 2: People can book restaurants.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Come in.
- 14:52Speaker 2: And I mean I always say one of our biggest tips is book early, right, if you know you're coming to Vegas.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Well, not only that, we have great private dining room space And if you have a large party 60, 15, whatever it might be we have great private dining room space and happy to accommodate everybody.
- 15:10Speaker 2: And will you give us a call when you get celebrity sightings or you know little private message and we won't?
- 15:16Speaker 4: respect them, but you might see a post here and there.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Listen, we don't have to reveal our sources.
- 15:22Speaker 1: We're just saying you know, exactly, exactly.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And we always have to ask when people are coming in they're not familiar with the menu.
- 15:33Speaker 1: What are the must haves that need to be on this table?
- 15:38Speaker 4: Yeah, well, our sushi is incredible that we offer in this restaurant, but we're offering some really unique new items that aren't available in any of our restaurants Any of the ocean primes.
- 15:50Speaker 4: We have a beautiful caviar service that we've entered here.
- 15:53Speaker 4: We have three great new cocktails.
- 15:54Speaker 4: We'll actually have a cocktail cart that will launch here in about a week or so And the only the cocktails is a gin cart And the cocktail cart and the bartender will walk around and dine in.
- 16:07Speaker 4: The only way you get those cocktails is from that cart.
- 16:09Speaker 4: So it's really, really special.
- 16:11Speaker 4: But our steaks are all prime.
- 16:12Speaker 4: They're fabulous.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Our seafoods are fresh as you get.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Our sea bass is always the most popular dish right up there.
- 16:18Speaker 2: We just had it.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, we were raving Amazing, so good.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's all great.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I mean, we have a little goat cheese ravioli.
- 16:26Speaker 4: It's been on the menu since day one and we have some great new fresh items for Vegas, So we're excited to be here.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Well, welcome to town.
- 16:32Speaker 2: We're happy to have you excited Again.
- 16:34Speaker 2: you can book at Ocean Prime on Open Table and plan ahead.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and what about?
- 16:41Speaker 1: is this going to be a hot brunch spot too?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's true Good point.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yes, we have a new brunch that we're launching, a little champagne brunch that we're launching here every Saturday and Sunday And I think it's 10 to four, 10 to three, excuse me, and we're excited about it because we don't do it in any of our other Ocean Prime.
- 17:00Speaker 4: So another element, and we're open seven days a week for whether lunch or brunch, and so coming out and seeing the terrorists and being outside and seeing the energy and enjoying some eggs Benedict can't be all that bad right.
- 17:14Speaker 2: It's Vegas baby, Right, Pretty soon.
- 17:16Speaker 2: you'll be open till 4am.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Get the DJ in here and get it going.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Let's do it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I love it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: David, thank you so much, appreciate it.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It was great to sit down and talk with David in this brand new restaurant And if you're looking for it, it is on Las Vegas Boulevard.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's between the crystals shops over at Aria and the Cosmopolitan.
- 17:41Speaker 1: If you're walking from the crystals shops to Cosmopolitan or vice versa, you're going to see Ocean Prime right on the corner there, the fourth floor, with a gorgeous patio overlooking the strip.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And just so you know some of our favorites when we were there and go to our Instagram because we'll have a little bit of video.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I loved the sushi.
- 18:00Speaker 2: They were nice enough because we couldn't decide to bring us out three rows of different kinds And we chose mostly the spicy ones.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It was delicious and a beautiful presentation.
- 18:10Speaker 2: And then something else the whole table loved was that side of.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It was the jalapeno potatoes aggratton.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yeah get it D Delicious.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I've never had a grottin potatoes like that before, neither They had the heat without the spice.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes any sense at all.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You really got to try it, yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 2: It was good and again check our social media.
- 18:32Speaker 1: We've got some videos up with the cocktails and all that kind of thing and, by the way, it is convenient to get in and out of as well.
- 18:38Speaker 1: The restaurant has its own valet off of Harmon Avenue.
- 18:43Speaker 1: If you come in from West Harmon toward the strip, it's really easy to get in and out.
- 18:49Speaker 1: If you're coming from the east side, it's easy to.
- 18:51Speaker 1: There's a traffic light right there to to get you in and out really easy.
- 18:56Speaker 1: So Very convenient.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 18:59Speaker 2: so this week You are doing some things that we're gonna talk about on the next podcast, and I know one of them is going to carry underwoods new show Yeah, not really new, but you know return.
- 19:09Speaker 1: It's her first show back after more than a year Being away on on tour.
- 19:14Speaker 1: She's back at resorts world with her reflection Residency and I'll be heading over to see that show her first show back.
- 19:22Speaker 1: So next week here on Vegas revealed.
- 19:25Speaker 1: We're gonna let you know if there's any changes, if she switched anything up, added any new music and Just overall impressions of the show as well.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Great, and then you're also gonna go to a new Liberace restaurant.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Tell me about this, because you were the one who alerted me that this was back open.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so back in the day when Liberace was performing here in Las Vegas, he had opened up this restaurant called Tivoli Gardens.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Since he passed away, it had changed hands several times.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's been closed for years, but now a new chef has come in and Purchased the restaurant.
- 20:03Speaker 1: It is really committed to bringing it back and restoring it To what it looked like and felt like in the Liberace era.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 20:12Speaker 1: So that is now open.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna head over there.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm having drinks with the head of the Liberace Foundation Great over there So we'll get some good history.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I know that there are great stories Attached to that venue as well, so that's gonna be coming up next week on Vegas revealed as well.
- 20:30Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Well, often we talk about things on the podcast and we kind of pump them up.
- 20:34Speaker 2: We say we, we like it and that's our honest opinion, something that we enjoyed and we thought was really cool and was gonna be a new addition to Las Vegas through the summer.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It wasn't a permanent display, but it's called transfix art, and whenever we do that, i feel like it is also important for us to tell folks that It's no longer open.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It's suddenly shut down And I feel like we need to let our people know, because we talked about it so much.
- 20:59Speaker 2: We aren't exactly sure what happened, but I guess it just maybe wasn't working.
- 21:05Speaker 2: They gave it a go, but something that we keep seeing is Posts from people saying they actually drove in or flew into town just for this.
- 21:16Speaker 2: They're getting there and they didn't know It was closed.
- 21:19Speaker 2: So that's upsetting to us as people who recommend it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: So we wanted to let folks know.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so it did close early.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I think it was here for a time period when the most amount of people were going to be here to experience it, because Resorts World did a partnership with EDC the electric Daisy Carnival and this Installation is like we've talked about here on the podcast before.
- 21:44Speaker 1: It was a lot of festival art Installations that you would see at EDC, at Burning Man, that kind of stuff, right.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So while that crowd was in town, i think it did really well.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I don't know if there were crowds to sustain that kind of installation Long-term after that core festival group left town, i don't know.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yeah, also, it's getting really hot outside right now.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I think that you know I mean, some things work for a while sometimes.
- 22:13Speaker 2: sometimes they don't and And you learned from it.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I mean, maybe it was just here long enough, you know what I mean.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It was here long enough.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:22Speaker 2: The one thing, though when you do go to their website, you can it says, buy tickets.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You can click that.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Then it actually gives dates in July.
- 22:29Speaker 2: So be careful of that.
- 22:30Speaker 2: When you click that, it will bring you to no tickets available, but it can be a little bit confusing.
- 22:36Speaker 2: We need to dig a little bit more and get to the bottom of that and maybe have a little bit more of an update.
- 22:40Speaker 2: But we want to make sure that you know about that and if you know anyone that was planning on coming, spread the word that it's.
- 22:46Speaker 2: They're not selling tickets right now.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Yeah, let's move on to Vegas near me.
- 22:51Speaker 1: So if you're a regular Vegas revealed listener, you've been hearing us talk about the Vegas near me app for months now.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Yes, and and before you forward or I want you to pause, okay, because we have an interview with one of the creators and it is a really interesting and helpful interview.
- 23:11Speaker 2: We actually even we're looking at each other going.
- 23:14Speaker 2: That was really Helpful and I'm excited for our listeners to hear about this app and Kind of where it, where it came from, where the idea came from.
- 23:23Speaker 2: We interviewed George Meyer.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and he has a lot of insight To the app, understandably because he created it that we didn't even know about.
- 23:33Speaker 1: So instead of us kind of explaining all the features and Benefits to you, we're gonna let George do it.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Sean, for a long time we've been telling people about our sponsor, vegas, near me.
- 23:47Speaker 2: It's a great app that we encourage everyone to download for free, and today We're gonna dive in a little bit more.
- 23:54Speaker 1: We are.
- 23:54Speaker 1: We have George Meyer, ceo and co-founder of the Vegas near me app, with us.
- 24:00Speaker 1: George, how's it going, man Ah?
- 24:03Speaker 3: I'm doing great Nice to talk to you guys.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yeah, of course I mean listen, we have so many questions, but why don't you just start a little bit bite by telling the folks and telling our listeners About this app and why you decided to create it?
- 24:15Speaker 2: because I know you've been working on this for a long time And you've really put your heart and soul into it.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, this is.
- 24:21Speaker 3: It's actually a pretty good story.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I've lived in Vegas now for 14 years and and I've been a software guy my whole life.
- 24:28Speaker 3: But I did an app before this called poker near me.
- 24:31Speaker 3: But to make kind of a long story short, i started to love just to go and I still do go into live music and events and Journey was here in town and I was the guy that everyone would ask what's going on.
- 24:43Speaker 3: You know, to me for some reason I don't even know why, but everyone would call me and and ask me what's going on.
- 24:49Speaker 3: And Journey was one of my favorite older bands and I woke up on a Sunday and realized that journey was here on Last night, the night before, at a venue where I I, you know, i knew people I could have sat right up front and I got up so upset That I looked at all the ticketing apps and I went.
- 25:08Speaker 3: You know, geez, they're not very good.
- 25:10Speaker 3: It's really hard that hard to find this out.
- 25:13Speaker 3: So if I can miss one of my favorite bands being in town, i'm sure everybody else is too.
- 25:18Speaker 1: So that's that's what really drove me to start this and You know, george, each week here on Vegas reveal, we talk about the fact that the Vegas near me app is a concierge Right near pocket.
- 25:32Speaker 1: It has everything to do or see in Las Vegas.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It's on Vegas near me.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Dive into that a little more specifically.
- 25:40Speaker 1: What will people find on there?
- 25:43Speaker 3: You know, it's kind of what, like I said, when I started the app We started it was called tickets to me and we're just doing tickets, but as we started to interview people, we found that people wanted to find everything right.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's.
- 25:56Speaker 3: It's really hard to know what's going on.
- 25:59Speaker 3: There's so much stuff that's going on in Vegas and and so so now it covers everything.
- 26:05Speaker 3: So we have, you know, 11,000 menu and reservation links for every restaurant in the city and you can search for.
- 26:12Speaker 3: If you like Italian food, you know, look for Italian food.
- 26:15Speaker 3: So it's got every, every restaurant, every activity, every show, every event.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Our tagline is if it's fun to do or see, it's on Vegas near me.
- 26:24Speaker 3: And maybe here's another way to think about it is if you're a local or visitor now and you've come to any city I mean, i think Vegas is a perfect first city to do this in.
- 26:36Speaker 3: You'll typically work with at least a dozen different apps or websites.
- 26:40Speaker 3: You will.
- 26:41Speaker 3: You know every, every restaurant you go to right has a has a QR code out front.
- 26:46Speaker 3: This says scan this to get our menu and you'll scan that to look at a menu.
- 26:50Speaker 3: You'll you'll try to find a map app to figure out where the place is, You'll open up the uber app to book a ride.
- 26:56Speaker 3: You'll you'll open up Yelp and try to read a read a text review.
- 27:01Speaker 3: You know you'll use all these different apps that that, frankly, aren't very fun or easy to use, and And and.
- 27:08Speaker 3: You'll still end up actually asking or calling someone to get help, and the beautiful thing I think about what we've created is that in a single app, you can answer all of these questions.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yeah, i think that's a good point because you know you pointing out, oh, an Italian restaurant, this, and that you think, well, we people think, well, i can get that on any app, but or I can look in maps.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But you're right.
- 27:31Speaker 2: So when you get to that Italian restaurant in Vegas, near me, you can then see if there's a parking lot, if they charge a menu, you can book the reservation, you can get an uber to that.
- 27:43Speaker 2: You can do all of it within the app.
- 27:45Speaker 2: And I think that you make a good point there.
- 27:47Speaker 2: And that's why Vegas near me is so useful, as you're saying, is it kind of brings it all together.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and we've done it.
- 27:54Speaker 3: We've made several inventions, but some of them are so basic that I'm just surprised really no one's ever thought of it.
- 28:01Speaker 3: But one of the nicest things about the app is that it makes it easy to find virtually anything near anywhere.
- 28:08Speaker 3: So one of the things that kind of drives me nuts about Google and the help and all the bigger apps now is that you might want to find Food next to you now.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Or you know, hey, i'm going down to Caesar's Palace, or I'm staying at the win, or I'm going over to Town Square, or I'm going to do an activity.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I want to find food near the oh showroom, right, and.
- 28:30Speaker 3: And that's the kind of stuff that is hard.
- 28:33Speaker 3: It should be very, very simple, but we make it really really simple to not only look for, you know, find a burger place near you, but find a burger place near the, the, the slot Zilla zip line, right, whatever you're going to be going and doing.
- 28:48Speaker 2: That's a good point because we were going up to the X caliber recently and to do some work.
- 28:53Speaker 2: We had a job and I was meeting some friends for dinner before and I was like, well, let me look at the places that maybe not aren't necessarily in the X caliber, but near the X caliber that we can go.
- 29:03Speaker 2: So I opened up the app And it was great to get a whole list of, like you know, because you can pick the fast, casual, casual, fine dining and pick to category.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and you can also just by default, we show opening clothes, we show everything, but you can look for things that are just open now and, given Vegas is such a late night city, that is just a wonderful feature that you can just with one tap, see every restaurant of a type you want that's open right now, or show all.
- 29:32Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 29:33Speaker 1: So if it's super late and you want to find something you know near the Luxor, just tap open now and it'll show you everything and something I think we need to point out is that, yeah, we talk about the fact that Vegas near me does take the place of a dozen other apps on your phone.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Clear out the space, delete the other apps, because there's one that's gonna do everything for you, but it's free.
- 29:57Speaker 1: It is a free app and you even have some Money-saving Partnerships going on within the app, so so users can actually save money by using Vegas near me.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we we're starting to really add a lot of coupons and deals, and one of the things I'm very, very excited about is that The app is just really fun and easy to use and we have these visual categories right, so so you can look at things and look at different categories to find stuff to do and, and so You know if you're interested in finding a pizza restaurant, you can look in the pizza category and there might be a coupon or deal there.
- 30:37Speaker 3: But now we're starting to add Just a ton of different Really cool features and deals.
- 30:44Speaker 3: A couple that are really unique is We partner with a company called go car and they they have this, this amazing little two-seater That's so much fun and you ride around it and it does a speaking Audio tour of the city and you can go get a tour of downtown or a tour of the grip and as you're riding in the car, it'll say you know, on your left is the mob museum.
- 31:05Speaker 3: It's just, it's just a brilliant idea.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It's great.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I feel like this is our tip of the week, george.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and the best rates are right in the app and you can book it right in the app.
- 31:17Speaker 3: So we're starting to do deals like that and you know we were partnered with the with the restaurant Really nice restaurant called table 34 and, oh yeah, off a bottle of wine with dinner, and we're starting to do a ton of those.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Right now there's just a few of them in there, but soon there'll be hundreds.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I love that.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I love that.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Let's dive into the review now.
- 31:38Speaker 2: We not review sets of things.
- 31:40Speaker 2: You don't have reviews in there and you, instead, you have compliments to podcasts on YouTube Blogger videos, audio podcasts.
- 31:50Speaker 2: So when people are in an attraction or in a restaurant, on the app they will see different kinds of Complementary I should say visuals or audio when people have talked about this establishment before.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 32:06Speaker 2: That's a really cool concept.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Instead of reviews, you get to hear what people say or what their experience was there.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, the issue that we have with reviews right now is they're kind of text reviews.
- 32:18Speaker 3: They can be very one-sided, they can't be very, you know, fair, and we wanted to find a better way So that people can learn about and choose fun things to do or see, and what we came up with was you know, there's, there's, there's, you know, 300 or so amazing content creators That do content about Vegas, like you, like you guys and there's this incredible content out there That people have gone and visited a restaurant or gone to an activity and they've talked about me either on a youtuber, a podcast link.
- 32:51Speaker 3: So what we've done is we've Time stamped and curated over 55,000 of these links.
- 32:57Speaker 3: So you go to almost anything and you want to know.
- 33:00Speaker 3: You know, hey, what is the absence show about?
- 33:03Speaker 3: you'll find a video and a review of people there.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Or Tell me about a mouthy, the restaurant, and if it's a two-hour long podcast and they talk about a mouthy, safe 50 minutes in, it'll start playing where they talk about it.
- 33:17Speaker 3: So it's just an incredible way to To listen to and watch real life experiences much better than reading a text review and again This is all happening.
- 33:28Speaker 1: You're playing these videos in audio clips right from within the app.
- 33:32Speaker 1: You never leave Vegas near me.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah, we're finding it.
- 33:37Speaker 3: This is kind of ironic.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I mean, we're finding that 10% of our users are using the app for 24 minutes or more, which is just unheard of.
- 33:45Speaker 3: But what they're obviously doing is they're watching these YouTube videos and and and Podcasts, and it's such a wonderful thing to go do because you're planning your trip to Vegas, you want to know what you want to go do, and it's like I mean, how do you explain something like Omega mark to some Somebody?
- 34:03Speaker 1: right, it's hard, we've tried.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Instead watch the YouTube video on it.
- 34:07Speaker 3: It's so cool, right that you can.
- 34:09Speaker 3: You can get these experiences.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, well, there's so many other things I want to hit on.
- 34:13Speaker 2: One thing I wanted to say, though, is you know, george, and we met you at the beginning.
- 34:17Speaker 2: What I loved is that you were saying like you, you got into Ubers and You took Uber rides just to learn more about.
- 34:25Speaker 2: You know what their struggles were, what Passengers said, how easy it was to book an Uber within the app.
- 34:31Speaker 2: I mean, you have actually gone through.
- 34:33Speaker 2: You've been so hands-on on developing this that you've learned a lot, and From that I think that that's what helps when people actually get in the app to use it.
- 34:42Speaker 2: It's like you've already done the work of what's problematic at what works and what doesn't work right.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, i had a mentor back back a long time ago.
- 34:53Speaker 3: I managed a product called the zip drive at I'll make, and my mentor was the CEO of that company and he said, george, if you ever, if you ever really want to make something special, you got to try to create a product or service that's 10x better.
- 35:06Speaker 3: That's just funnily better than anything else.
- 35:08Speaker 3: And the only way you do that is you go understand what your customers want And you know, don't spend time, don't even look at competitive products, just go, go spend time and try to figure out what your customers wanted.
- 35:20Speaker 3: And I knew that, that getting to places We found out that discovery was a big issue.
- 35:25Speaker 3: But another big issue we found really fast is that everyone is lost here.
- 35:29Speaker 3: People can't, they can't, they don't know where the Blaju is, much less where something inside of it is, and and so we found that getting directions or finding things is Critical and and so, actually following in, kim Edwards, you know a vision I signed up to be an Uber driver for a year and a half and drove people around on my Tesla and showed them, you know, and I learned everything about Uber and, by the way, it was really fun, but, boy, i learned a lot of stuff.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I love that.
- 35:58Speaker 1: and, george, since there are so many features Packed into Vegas near me, what is your favorite?
- 36:08Speaker 3: Well, i think the two biggest features are the are the YouTube and podcast links and maps.
- 36:15Speaker 3: What we've done is we not only we not only have like a button This is get a ride that'll link to your Uber or Lyft account Or give you turn-by-turn directions if you have your own car is we have on every business.
- 36:28Speaker 3: There's a, there's a button that says show placemap.
- 36:30Speaker 3: So if the business happens to be inside one of our resorts or even one of the shopping centers or entertainment centers, there's a button that says show placemap and if you tap that button, it'll show you exactly where that restaurant or that show is, and if you're nearby, it'll show you as a blue dot and it's it's just brilliant because it solves You know all the problems.
- 36:55Speaker 3: I'll bet you there's a hundred people right now inside the Bellagio asking for directions, right and, and it's just like it solves that problem.
- 37:06Speaker 3: But we've done a lot of other little stuff that I'm really proud of.
- 37:09Speaker 3: I'll tell you one other thing that we haven't talked about, that I think it's super cool, and I don't have any kids, but tell me why.
- 37:15Speaker 3: No one's ever invented this.
- 37:17Speaker 3: We have a, an age filter, but it's super cool.
- 37:21Speaker 3: You can set.
- 37:21Speaker 3: You can set ages of whatever say your youngest kid is, and it'll filter out and show you things that that your, your kids, can do.
- 37:31Speaker 3: And you can even put the app in what's called kid mode and Protect it with a four-digit passcode And then you can hand the app to your son or daughter and they won't see, they won't be able to get at any of the adult Stuff, because all the adult stuff, of course, is in the app as well as As, again, our tagline is if it's fun to do or see, it's on Vegas Hermes.
- 37:51Speaker 3: So we don't have like gas stations, but everything else we have in the app.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Getting gas is never fun.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Love that.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Something that you did mention to us is that you know there are a couple not myths that you wanted to you know Squash, but kind of Things that people think about when they when they hear about an app that that maybe it's not gonna work, great, but so tell us a little bit about that.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, you know what's interesting is, i think there's something like 120,000 new apps that are launched every month.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Wow, and frankly, most apps are done by one guy in his house And they're not very good, you know.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I mean it's it's really easy to do an app.
- 38:38Speaker 3: It's really hard to do something like this.
- 38:41Speaker 3: This has been Seven years of work by a world-class team with up to 40 people We had over 40 people working on the set at one point and and it's really really hard To do a project of this size.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Because another thing I learned from Kim Edwards back at I'll make, i'll make is that you either do It right or you don't do it at all.
- 39:03Speaker 3: And and so we, we had a, we had a pretty big bar to really do this right.
- 39:07Speaker 3: And and I think what happens with us right now is that people are used to apps being so bad They a don't go get it or try it and then be there.
- 39:18Speaker 3: They might install it and then don't start to use it.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Just just Go get the app It's totally free and play with it for a day or two, and I don't care if you're a local or a visitor.
- 39:29Speaker 3: This app will save you time and it's really fun.
- 39:34Speaker 3: You know, another really cool feature that's in the app and that you just can't do anywhere else is is Every chain.
- 39:41Speaker 3: So let's say you're you know you happen to like, i know in and out burger.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Right, if you want to find every in and out burger, you can favorite that chain and it will show you a either a map or list view of those.
- 39:52Speaker 3: And if you put them in a in a list view, as you're driving around, it'll automatically show you which one is closer and updated love that and there's just so much little stuff like that That's in the app But, but I think that's that's a really good point.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Of all of all stuff in the app, i'm most proud of usability.
- 40:11Speaker 3: If you're eight or eighty, you can kind of figure out how to use it.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I love that and well, unlike you said to with, i mean, i've downloaded apps all the time and you're right, i open it and then I just delete it.
- 40:21Speaker 2: It doesn't do what I want.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Or it says, you know, in app purchase, like I want to do something but I've got to pay for it.
- 40:26Speaker 2: If you download Vegas near me, that's not gonna happen.
- 40:30Speaker 2: You're gonna get in and you're gonna surf around.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Nobody's gonna get an alert that says, well, that's another 399, or anything like that.
- 40:36Speaker 2: You just want people in there, you want them using it and doing it, and all that right.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and a lot of big apps.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Nowadays, the first thing they do when you install it is make you create an account.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I hate that too, because I don't know if your app is any good, you know what I mean.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I don't want to create a copy before I do it now.
- 40:54Speaker 3: At some point We're gonna want want to have a counts and show that too, but we're gonna do that after you hear You know already wanting to buy a coupon or deal of doing stuff like that, right.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, now's the time to download it, enjoy it, And I love also just real quick, the hours that you put into it as far as the correct open and close, like you mentioned.
- 41:14Speaker 2: That's a real bonus for me, i feel like in less seedings.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah favorite huh.
- 41:20Speaker 3: That's a good point, probably.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I mentioned.
- 41:22Speaker 3: The two big ones were the where, the podcast and videos and the maps.
- 41:26Speaker 3: The third one is kind of funny.
- 41:28Speaker 3: But when I started this project and went, oh my god, how am I gonna get all this data and how we're gonna keep it accurate, right, and, and I guess what I didn't realize was how low the bar is, and you know, it's just, it's just, there's, there's.
- 41:43Speaker 3: You know Googling up, but I want to pick on their incredible companies, but they're trying to do it for hundreds of millions of places and It's hard to do it for any one place and be accurate, because the majority of their data comes from scraping the websites and the websites are about 50% right.
- 42:00Speaker 3: So our data, guys, isn't perfect, but it's so much better than any other source.
- 42:06Speaker 3: It's just embarrassing and and so you know the odds are it's better.
- 42:10Speaker 3: And, by the way, if you find something that's wrong, you can tap a little I and we fix everything within 24 hours and in real time.

- 44:40Speaker 2: Never Yeah me And I have a feeling I won't ever be close.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I've been several zeros away from a million dollars, But the next time that you come to Las Vegas, you can be as close to a million dollars as you ever have been before.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Ever at Binion's Gambling Hall they have a million dollar display Right.
- 45:05Speaker 2: So it's all stacked up.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and this is not a background that cost a million dollars, it is legit stacks of cash amounting to one million dollars.
- 45:17Speaker 1: You can get up close, you can have your picture taken with that million dollars so that you can take that million bucks home with you.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Yeah, In picture form Yeah they've redone this entire display.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Over there at Binion's Gambling Hall, There's new monitors to show you how they put all the money together and displayed it.
- 45:38Speaker 1: It's also now.
- 45:40Speaker 1: You used to have to wait for a picture to be printed for your free souvenir photo.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Now it can be emailed directly to you or texted or put to your social media.
- 45:49Speaker 1: So over at Binion's, this is your chance to take home a million bucks.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yeah, i mean it's really smart because people love to get their picture with certain things that are appealing or different, and that's definitely very different A pile of a million dollars in front of you.
- 46:04Speaker 2: So I love it.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Really cool idea and I think people will stop by Binion's just for that photo op.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and again, it is all free, love it.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Hey, the other day, when we mentioned we were seeing Kathy Griffin at the Mirage, we were walking through the center of the casino and walking by the Parlor Lounge and you said to me, hey, i didn't know, they had live music.
- 46:25Speaker 2: And I said to you yeah, i went to a show here a couple of weekends ago to see Shin Lin, and the band was in there performing as well, and in the past they've had it as well.
- 46:34Speaker 2: So, anyway, we thought it was a great reminder because they just sounded great and they were playing some current songs, some covers.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Both times I've walked by the person I was with you, and then the other time I was with Perez Hilton.
- 46:46Speaker 2: They would both stopped and went hey, i didn't know.
- 46:50Speaker 2: So I mean, obviously it's something that is appealing and you definitely want to be a part of and stop and sit down and listen to.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Well, I feel like it's been so long since we have had live music lounges in our casinos.
- 47:04Speaker 1: As we've talked about it here on, Vegas revealed many, many times that there was an era when you would be able to go to just about any casino and find a live music lounge, And so when we were walking by and that live music was filtering out, I was like wait a second.
- 47:21Speaker 1: this is like triggering memories of Vegas past.
- 47:27Speaker 2: And when we talked about it in the past on Twitter, i got a lot of backlash.
- 47:30Speaker 2: People were saying why perform in a band?
- 47:31Speaker 2: We were in a lounge, we're here, we're there.
- 47:34Speaker 2: But a lot of those places are like you have to go in, like barbershop, cuts and cocktails, great location, they have a lot of live music, but you have to go in and like you can't.
- 47:44Speaker 1: And that's not open to the casino.
- 47:45Speaker 2: No, this is more.
- 47:46Speaker 2: what we're talking about is in the casino and open, which, like you said, used to be how it used to be.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Yeah, And this was midnight.
- 47:54Speaker 1: When we were walking by, there were definitely seats open in the lounge.
- 47:58Speaker 1: There were some people in there, but I mean, i think that the parlor over at the Mirage is a hidden gem for live music.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 48:06Speaker 2: So definitely check that out.
