- 0:00How do you find clarity on that thing, that one thing that you're meant to do?
- 0:14Because that is, if I even start to think about it, if I even start to say, oh, I don't
- 0:19like my job or, you know, I don't like my relationship, that's fine.
- 0:22I can understand that and I can be realistic with myself about that.
- 0:26And then I think about the massive amount of things that I could do instead of the job
- 0:34or all of that.
- 0:37That's so vast.
- 0:38Yeah, you're talking a bit about the theme around purpose now, you know, in terms of,
- 0:46well, now you have to find your purpose.
- 0:48You can't leave people here.
- 0:49They're going to be stressed out.
- 0:50They're going to be like, don't leave me in the, in the free fall.
- 0:56Okay, so, so I have a perspective around this.
- 0:59So I'm going to start, okay, I'm going to start a bit from the macro and then I'm going
- 1:05to get very, very, very specific for people that will give them actionable things to what,
- 1:11in terms of what to do.
- 1:14So I'm going to start saying, first off, stop seeking your purpose.
- 1:19Stop seeking your purpose.
- 1:21The drive to find your purpose is actually taking you further away from trying to find
- 1:24your purpose.
- 1:26And many times the ego, who we think ourselves to be, our perceived sense of self and condition
- 1:31self that we attach to, the ego, the ego's job is to reinforce its existence.
- 1:38And so one of the ways that ego reinforces its existence is to seek and seek and seek and
- 1:43seek and seek and seek and seek and seek and seek and find my purpose and never find.
- 1:47And so there's a part inside of us that really doesn't want to find our purpose because
- 1:51by not finding my purpose, I don't have to live my purpose and the seeking, the process
- 1:55of seeking continues.
- 1:58And so I say, stop trying to find your purpose.
- 2:01On a spiritual level, number one, recognize that you are a soul.
- 2:06You are a soul that incarnates into the human experience.
- 2:09Your soul has incarnated and you're a soul having a human experience.
- 2:13You may have heard that before.
- 2:14You're a soul having a human experience and then the human experience you incarnate into
- 2:18the human experience in order to learn to grow to evolve.
- 2:21So to me, start seeing life, life itself is a school.
- 2:26Life is an evolutionary school for the growth and evolution of your soul.
- 2:30Life is a school for the evolution of your soul.
- 2:32And as a result, then every situation, every experience, every relationship, everything
- 2:38you go through is part of the curriculum for your soul's evolution so that you can realize
- 2:44more of who you really are and so that you can learn those lessons and grow and come
- 2:48into your most authentic self.
- 2:50And if you start seeing yourself as a soul and understanding that are, if I'm a soul
- 2:54and I'm here to grow, then the real purpose, the real ultimate purpose of life is to learn
- 3:01the lessons, to grow, to evolve and become your authentic self and remember who you truly
- 3:06are beyond your programmed condition self, to remember your essence, to remember your
- 3:11identity, to remember that infinite spark, to remember your true potential and power
- 3:15if that's the purpose of life.
- 3:17Then your purpose isn't what you do, your purpose is the degree to which you are learning
- 3:25and growing, no matter what you're doing.
- 3:28You can be living your ultimate purpose, whether you're a trash collector, a formula
- 3:34on race car driver, a podcaster, a stay at home mom, an author, an engineer, an electrician,
- 3:44working at barista, working in Starbucks, that's what you do, you are not what you do,
- 3:49your purpose on a deep spiritual level is about evolution.
- 3:55In any moment, regardless of what you do, any moment, you can be living your purpose
- 4:01so long as you're growing and evolving and learning and asking yourself, what is my
- 4:06soul seeking to learn it in this experience?
- 4:08What is my soul seeking to understand in this situation?
- 4:11What is my soul attract this situation?
- 4:13What is my soul attract this boss?
- 4:17What is the classroom that I'm in right now in this experience?
- 4:20And I think when we do that, we are growing, when we do that, we are living the true purpose
- 4:24and when we do that, when we learn those lessons, we begin to transcend the experience and
- 4:31we start attracting new experiences to us.
- 4:33So your purpose can be lived every moment that you're growing, learning and evolving.
- 4:38That's the bigger level.
- 4:40Now on a human level, which is connected to your question, but I wanted to set a bigger
- 4:43context to connect it to because I think we live on different levels as souls and human
- 4:49beings.
- 4:51On a human level, stop seeking your purpose instead.
- 4:55So now what the hell do I do?
- 4:56Okay, you can sit there and just try and figure out your purpose from the side lines, but
- 5:01life doesn't work that way.
- 5:03That is another can be another strategy of the ego to avoid.
- 5:08Instead, move in the direction, if you look, I don't know, okay, fair enough, but don't
- 5:16just sit there, move in the direction of what lights you up, move in the direction of
- 5:23what turns you on, move in the direction of what's
- 5:26sets your soul on fire, move in the direction of what brings you joy.
- 5:31Just move in the direction.
- 5:32You don't have to know where it's going to end up.
- 5:34You don't have to know where you're going to get to exactly where you need to be because
- 5:37there's an intelligence inside of your soul that knows it knows.
- 5:40So just go in the direction of like, I feel joy here, I feel the liveliness here.
- 5:44I don't know where this is going to lead me.
- 5:46I don't even know how I'm going to make money, but at least start navigate rather than
- 5:50just sitting and going, I don't know.
- 5:52And then 10 years go by, go in the direction, stop moving in the direction.
- 5:57You start moving in the direction of what makes you most alive, the liveliness is a sign.
- 6:01The liveliness is a navigation, the liveliness is a radar that pulls you.
- 6:06So as you start going in the direction, take a step.
- 6:09You take a step, then what you'll find is life reveals to you another step.
- 6:12You take another step, you lean in, life reveals to you another step.
- 6:15You lean in, life reveals to you another step.
- 6:17And often your purpose gets revealed to you in the process of taking a step and living
- 6:23life itself.
- 6:24What will often happen is 10 years from now, 20 years from now, 5 years from now, 3 years
- 6:27from now, you look around and you're like, holy moly, I'm, I'm living my, I lived into
- 6:33my purpose.
- 6:34I could not have planned this purpose, but I lived into it, but you lived into it because
- 6:39you want on the sideline trying to figure it out because the journey that you go on,
- 6:44you take a step, the journey that you go on in that big step, as you take the step
- 6:49you grow, as you take the step you evolve, as you take the step you expand, as you take
- 6:53the step you're conscious of the shift.
- 6:55And as you learn, grow and evolve, you become more ripened, you become more ready for
- 6:59the next step.
- 7:00Stop trying to figure out your purpose from the sidelines, you take the step.
- 7:04And then I would say question number one, okay, what do I love, what turns me on, what
- 7:11brings me joy, moving that direction.
- 7:14For me as a kid, we lived behind my father's church, we didn't have a lot of money, we
- 7:19lived behind my father's church.
- 7:21My bedroom was so small, you could barely put a one single person bed in it and walk
- 7:26in the room.
- 7:27I had all of these big dreams, so as a kid I would sneak inside my father's church in
- 7:32the middle of the night, 8 p.m., 9 p.m., it's 10 p.m., and every day I often don't talk
- 7:39about this, but every day.
- 7:41Imagine this kid, 11, 12-year-old kid, I would speak, Scott, I would speak to the empty
- 7:46chairs.
- 7:47I would give seminars for two hours a night, an hour a night, I would give seminars
- 7:51to the empty chairs, imagining, right, imagining I was inspiring people from around the world,
- 7:56I was inspiring people in the US for free, you know, for me.
- 8:02That's what lit me up, that's what turned me on, that's what brought me joy.
- 8:06I would do that for free, I'm done it for free, I get paid now.
- 8:10But it didn't matter, so when you find that joy, going that direction, you don't have
- 8:13to know the how, so what turns me on, what sets me on fire, what do I love?
- 8:19Number two, but that's not enough.
- 8:22You have to ask yourself, let's make it more practical, what specific skills do I have?
- 8:29What specific, I love Formula One racing, okay, this is one of them, I love it.
- 8:33But I'm never going to be Lewis Hamilton in this lifetime.
- 8:37I'm not going to, it's not going to happen.
- 8:38The kid is, the dude has been doing that stuff for he's 37 years old since he was like three,
- 8:43okay, and so it takes a level of actual competence and skill to be able to perform.
- 8:48That's a reality.
- 8:49But if we look in our lives, so many people say to me, I don't know what skills I have,
- 8:54just look at your life, look at every shitty job you've been through.
- 8:57Sometimes the jobs that you have, that you need to work in,
- 9:02sometimes the jobs that present themselves to you, they're not your purpose.
- 9:07But sometimes you put that because there's a necessary skill that you're meant to learn
- 9:11in that job, and you're going to need that piece of the puzzle, that skill, to be able
- 9:15to, to be the person who's able to then fully fulfill your purpose.
- 9:20And I, I always tell people when you're working a job, even if you hate to do it with
- 9:24ultimate excellence, when you do that job with excellence, then you're able to extract
- 9:27the skill you become more, but you're able to extract the skill that gives you part
- 9:31of the ingredient to prepare you for your purpose.
- 9:34So look at all of the jobs, all of the situations, all of the experiences, all of the traumas,
- 9:38all of the breakups, all of the failures that you've been through.
- 9:41And look at what specific tangible skills that you learn.
- 9:44Those skills are going to be a part of your purpose and can point you in the direction
- 9:48of perhaps what you're meant to do lies.
- 9:51Number three, what unique gifts do you have that you're able to solve a unique problem?
- 9:58Another way of asking that is, what is the unique problem that you're able to solve
- 10:01for yourself?
- 10:03I always tell people don't, when you think of what to do, don't simply focus on how do
- 10:07I make the most money.
- 10:09You might make money, but often you'll be miserable, and if you're miserable, you'll sabotage
- 10:12it.
- 10:13If you're miserable, it won't sustain.
- 10:14I work with so many people, one-on-one in groups, small groups, large groups, billionaires
- 10:19that have made so much money, but they don't feel any purpose, don't feel any connection,
- 10:23and they end up sabotaging what they've created, or they end up not having the motivation
- 10:27to continue.
- 10:28So I always tell people, don't focus on money.
- 10:32Instead, realize that money is a byproduct of adding value, and when you add value, you
- 10:40add value by solving someone's pain, someone's problem, or someone's challenge.
- 10:45So when you're able to denounce yourself in question number three, what is the pain problem
- 10:49or challenge that I'm uniquely able to solve based on my gifts, based on my skills?
- 10:53Because when you solve someone's pain problem or challenge, your being of true service
- 10:57and money is just a byproduct of being of service.
- 11:00Number four, I would invite people to really think about on a practical level, which group
- 11:05of people do I feel a connection to?
- 11:09Which group of people do I feel an affinity to?
- 11:11Maybe you feel a connection to the teenage pregnant girls, maybe you feel a connection
- 11:15to the physically challenged, maybe you feel a connection to the elderly, maybe you feel
- 11:19a connection to, you know, fill in the whales, maybe who went, maybe you feel a connection
- 11:24to the group of souls, people, but you feel a connection to will often also might, it
- 11:30might point you in the direction of where your service and where your purpose or what
- 11:36you're meant to do and where you're meant to share your gifts, where that lies.
- 11:41You don't have to know where you're going to end up, but that can start giving you a
- 11:44directional navigation in terms of where to go and don't wait.
- 11:49Look at Oprah.
- 11:51There's no way Oprah could have planned her life.
- 11:53Yeah, I'm going to plan at this age, this is going to happen.
- 11:56And by the time I'm 30, 40, 50, 50, 50 years old, 60 years old, I'm going to be the most
- 12:01powerful media mogul woman in the world.
- 12:04You can't plan, billionaires, you can't plan that, but she loved communication.
- 12:08She loved communication.
- 12:10She didn't sit on the sideline until she was a bit in there.
- 12:12She loved communication.
- 12:14So she became a newscaster, as she became a newscaster, she had too much compassion.
- 12:18So she would cry while reading the news.
- 12:21This wasn't a good thing to do.
- 12:24And so they fired her.
- 12:25They gave her a job.
- 12:26I think it was on a talk show in Baltimore, it might not be Baltimore, but I think it was
- 12:30Baltimore on a single station.
- 12:33Now her compassion and her sensitivity was able to be married with her love for communication
- 12:38and the most compassionate she was for people.
- 12:41The most successful I showed the king, boom, syndication, boom, number one show, boom,
- 12:4725 years later, Oprah.
- 12:49Look at Obama.
- 12:50I mean, how does Obama love him or hate him is irrelevant to me?
- 12:53But look at Obama.
- 12:54How does this guy age 19 go?
- 12:55Yeah, I'm going to be president of the United States, but he started somewhere and that
- 13:00led him.
- 13:01And so I really believe that if you follow your soul, follow the nudging, follow the nudging,
- 13:05it doesn't always have to make sense.
- 13:07If you follow that nudging of your soul, your soul has an intelligence, it will guide you
- 13:12and you will, that's when you will often end up.
- 13:16Say you will often end up when you allow your soul to guide you, will be beyond what
- 13:21your mind can manufacture and create on its own.
