- 0:15Speaker 2: but not before a little adventure. Bradley Pinson was taken
- 0:19Speaker 2: into custody early Friday morning by the RCMP after somebody
- 0:23Speaker 2: was getting into vehicles parked in the area of the
- 0:26Speaker 2: church on Station Road in Grand Falls, Windsor. When officers
- 0:30Speaker 2: approached the vehicle in question, the suspect ran. Police caught
- 0:34Speaker 2: up with the 61-year-old a short time later. He faces
- 0:37Speaker 2: charges of possessing property obtained by crime under $ 5, 000, theft

- 0:51Speaker 2: in addressing recommendations made by the Auditor General on university operations,
- 0:56Speaker 2: VOCM's Zach Power reports.
- 0:59Speaker 1: The Auditor General raised issues in two previous reports in
- 1:03Speaker 1: 2023 and 2025. Last January, Denise Hanrahan highlighted MUN's deferred
- 1:08Speaker 1: maintenance liabilities of $ 481 million. She said at the time
- 1:13Speaker 1: that the university had not effectively or efficiently managed its
- 1:17Speaker 1: capital portfolio. It also raised concerns about lack of oversight
- 1:21Speaker 1: within the administration and found that Munt's facilities were poor
- 1:25Speaker 1: and near critical condition. In an article in the Gazette,
- 1:28Speaker 1: the university says it's implemented 62% of the AG's recommendations
- 1:33Speaker 1: and another 27% are in progress of being met. It
- 1:37Speaker 1: says demolishing Coughlin College saved them about $ 8. 4 million in
- 1:41Speaker 1: deferred maintenance costs. and it has done significant work in
- 1:45Speaker 1: its underground tunnel system. Several policies have been updated, including
- 1:49Speaker 1: policies concerning oversight of the university and its condition.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Another team has dropped out of the provincial under-18 AAA
- 1:56Speaker 2: Hockey League. The Traction Central Impact out of Grand Falls, Windsor,
- 2:00Speaker 2: were the first to fold. Now the league has confirmed
- 2:04Speaker 2: that the Tri-Penn Osprey and Harbour Grace are dropping out.
- 2:08Speaker 2: The Osprey went 3-4 in the season and Rouse scored
- 2:11Speaker 2: 38-19 over those seven games. The departure leaves the league
- 2:16Speaker 2: as a three-team circuit with two teams in the metro
- 2:19Speaker 2: region and one in Cornerbrook. And the Premier is assuring
- 2:24Speaker 2: that more affordability measures are in the works as government
- 2:27Speaker 2: benefits from revenue generated from rising oil prices. Provincial budgets
- 2:31Speaker 2: set a benchmark oil price of $ 79 a barrel in
- 2:34Speaker 2: its forecast. As of Friday, Brent crude was fetching in
- 2:39Speaker 2: the range of $ 103 a barrel after peaking well above
- 2:43Speaker 2: $ 130 in the spring. As of last month, Finance Minister
- 2:47Speaker 2: Craig Pardee indicated that the province could benefit to the
- 2:51Speaker 2: tune of $ 500 million because of the rising price of oil.
