- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, Welcome to a Girl's Gone Hallmark, a bonus
- 0:13Speaker 1: episode of Long Story Short podcast.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Megan, I'm Windy, and today we have.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Reached the end of this week's marathon of Hallmark movie reviews,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and we are discussing the Christmas Contest from Hallmarks Mary
- 0:27Speaker 1: Thanksgiving weekend, part of their Countdown to Christmas series twenty
- 0:30Speaker 1: twenty one.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Who We're all happy that this is. I have a
- 0:35Speaker 2: lot of mixed feelings. We will get to it. Should
- 0:39Speaker 2: I hit you with the synopsis?
- 0:40Speaker 1: Sure? Okay.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Exes Laura and Ben compete in a Christmas contest to
- 0:47Speaker 2: win money for the charity of their choosing. The city
- 0:51Speaker 2: watches them battle and choose what is more important, victory
- 0:54Speaker 2: or love?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Okay? Can I go first? In news end note?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Heck yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I found an article from Insider dot com which is
- 1:02Speaker 1: titled Christmas Contest gives Fuller House Fans an alternate ending,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and it made me laugh to think of this movie
- 1:08Speaker 1: as Fuller House fanfic. And then I read the article
- 1:13Speaker 1: and apparently that was intentional. Candace Cameron Beret was like
- 1:17Speaker 1: lots of people thought DJ and Matt should end up together.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I just fast forward through that Candace Cameron Beret and
- 1:23Speaker 1: John Brotherton were both on Fuller House. They dated on
- 1:27Speaker 1: the show. I believe they were engaged, and then Candace
- 1:30Speaker 1: Cameron Beret's character DJ Fuller does not marry Matt. Apparently
- 1:35Speaker 1: there are some DJ Matt stands in the world.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I maybe have only seen one or two seasons of
- 1:41Speaker 2: Fuller House. I remember that they were vets. They were
- 1:44Speaker 2: both veterinarians, and I do remember them like dating. But
- 1:48Speaker 2: then she got together with the high school ex boyfriend,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and that's who I thought she ended up with.
- 1:53Speaker 1: She ends up with Steve, but there's an ongoing thing
- 1:58Speaker 1: where there's a back and forth between Steve and Matt.
- 2:01Speaker 1: At one point she has to choose. They're like, you
- 2:03Speaker 1: need to choose. She does ultimately choose Steve. But yes,
- 2:07Speaker 1: they had a pretty serious relationship, but he's on the
- 2:10Speaker 1: entire series. He meets another woman and gets married. But yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 1: that's not his name, John.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I don't know what this d name is.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yeah, Matt on the show. Yes, he meets someone else.
- 2:22Speaker 1: They well, then I'm very happy that said Allan has
- 2:25Speaker 1: to say. Apparently this was intentional. She wanted to give
- 2:28Speaker 1: those DJ and Matt fans what they wanted. Okay, speaking
- 2:33Speaker 1: of Candace Cameron Bray, she has a holiday gift collection
- 2:35Speaker 1: for Hallmark products like pillows with slogans like dream Big
- 2:39Speaker 1: and Pray Harder.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Oh god, oh were those the pillows that were in
- 2:43Speaker 2: her apartment?
- 2:44Speaker 1: But I wondered, oh, yeah, because I thought the one
- 2:47Speaker 1: was like, I don't know if it said still, yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: That's what it said.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I have a note about that later. Okay. This was
- 2:57Speaker 1: Candace Cameron Bray's tenth Christmas movie for Homwerk and her
- 3:00Speaker 1: thirtieth movie overall for the Hallmark Channel, and she was
- 3:04Speaker 1: quoted as saying that she doesn't really worry about the
- 3:06Speaker 1: ratings so much because she just knows that her movies
- 3:09Speaker 1: are going to make her fans happy. But I have
- 3:11Speaker 1: to wonder that if she doesn't worry about the ratings
- 3:14Speaker 1: so much, because last year in twenty twenty, her movie
- 3:17Speaker 1: was not number one. It was a Christmas waltz. However,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm not sure how much we can trust the ratings
- 3:22Speaker 1: because would you like to guess what movie came in third?
- 3:26Speaker 2: That we were the Merry Thanksgiving weekend No. For twenty
- 3:29Speaker 2: twenty oh for twenty twenty. So first was a Christmas Waltz,
- 3:33Speaker 2: second was if I only had Christmas, and third was
- 3:37Speaker 2: that country Christmas one a timeless Christmas. Oh god, that
- 3:42Speaker 2: was so bad.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So the ratings only say so much, is what I'm
- 3:46Speaker 1: saying here.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think that's terrible that she just like
- 3:51Speaker 2: rests on. Oh I don't care. I just want to
- 3:54Speaker 2: make fun content. My fans will love, but her fans
- 3:59Speaker 2: are over ghak family.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Come on now, hey, once you're not number one, it's
- 4:03Speaker 1: really nice to not worry about being number one anymore. Okay,
- 4:07Speaker 1: So at one point in this movie, they eat something
- 4:10Speaker 1: called a chimney cake. Have you ever had a chimney cake?
- 4:12Speaker 3: No?
- 4:13Speaker 2: And I wrote that down. What is a chimney cake?
- 4:15Speaker 1: But it has a name that I cannot pronounce. But
- 4:17Speaker 1: it is a spit cake, like roasted over a spit,
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know, like on a It turns specific to the
- 4:26Speaker 1: Zechulas of Transylvania. Original popular originally popular in the Hungarian
- 4:32Speaker 1: speaking regions of Romania, more predominantly the Zeccally Land. It
- 4:37Speaker 1: became popular in both and it's looks quite good and
- 4:41Speaker 1: sometimes they have cinnamon, sugar or almonds on the outside.
- 4:45Speaker 1: But I would like to try a chimney cake.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It just looks like like a ho ho if you
- 4:48Speaker 2: were to eat the inside of a rolled up like pastry.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It was. It was if I turned out ho ho
- 4:56Speaker 2: sideways and dug it out and the whipped cream in it,
- 5:01Speaker 2: that would be a chocolate chimney cake to me.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I see, I see. I had to look up a
- 5:06Speaker 1: ho ho looks like which is my next note? A
- 5:08Speaker 1: ho ho looks like a eulog? Yes, yes, oh, not
- 5:12Speaker 1: a chimney cake that eulog.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Hold on, don't skip ahead.
- 5:17Speaker 1: No, I just would like to say we will talk
- 5:19Speaker 1: about the Eulog. But both this movie, the Christmas Contest,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and the movie we talked about yesterday, Christmas in Tahoe
- 5:25Speaker 1: featured a yule log. Have you ever had a yule log?
- 5:29Speaker 2: No? Have you have? What? They just? They seem very prominently.
- 5:33Speaker 2: They seem really hard to make. Yeah, you gotta roll
- 5:36Speaker 2: that kickup's break all over the place. If it's not
- 5:38Speaker 2: just quite right, yep, I'll stick to a ho ho.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 5:42Speaker 1: What was your first impression of this movie?
- 5:45Speaker 2: This was a real stinker.
- 5:48Speaker 1: WHOA Yeah, Okay, so we've talked about four movies this week.
- 5:53Speaker 1: If you had to rate them, in order, what would
- 5:55Speaker 1: they be? Of the four we've talked about.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Number one would be an Anne Expected Christmas. Number two,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with Christmas in Tahoe because I like
- 6:07Speaker 2: the music. Then the Lacey Scheber movie, Oh there it
- 6:11Speaker 2: is again, and then The Stinker.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Oh wow. I would do a Unexpected Christmas, the Christmas Contest,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Christmas in Tahoe, Christmas at Castle Heart.
- 6:25Speaker 2: All right, girl, put those dukes up, Tell really why
- 6:27Speaker 2: you liked it?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Now that said, I think those last three are It's
- 6:34Speaker 1: a very slim margin, and Unexpected Christmas is the clear,
- 6:37Speaker 1: far and away winner. It is the only one of
- 6:40Speaker 1: these four that I would be interested in rewatching. It's
- 6:42Speaker 1: the only one I would say I actually liked, although
- 6:45Speaker 1: I would say the others were fine for me and
- 6:48Speaker 1: not terrible. Let's talk about what we liked. I love
- 6:51Speaker 1: a competition. I like the idea of a contest. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: think it makes it fun. We got to get through
- 6:56Speaker 1: the Christmas festivities somehow. Let's make it competitive. Do I
- 7:00Speaker 1: I think the contest activities sucked?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I do. But I like the idea of a contest. Okay, fine,
- 7:08Speaker 2: that's fine. I like that too, But it's a movie
- 7:11Speaker 2: from a couple of years ago, A Cookie Cutter Christmas
- 7:13Speaker 2: that's about a baking competition. I liked that one so
- 7:17Speaker 2: much better than this one, because I am interested in
- 7:20Speaker 2: the competitive edge of a movie like this too. But
- 7:25Speaker 2: I just honestly, we'll get there. Okay, what else did
- 7:28Speaker 2: you like about it? Did you like anything? I did
- 7:31Speaker 2: like something? I liked BJ Harrison. Do you know that name?
- 7:35Speaker 1: She's Martha. Bj Harrison was in jingle Bell Bride last year,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and I remember she was Okay.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I think she was in jingle Bell Bred. She was
- 7:43Speaker 2: also a prominent character in the Netflix series Made m Aid,
- 7:50Speaker 2: which is excellent if you haven't seen it. So when
- 7:54Speaker 2: I saw that she was in this movie, I was
- 7:56Speaker 2: like yeah, And she was like such a side throw
- 8:00Speaker 2: away character.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I thought, she Yeah, I would have been gonna arn
- 8:03Speaker 1: more with her.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I need her as a lead character in a movie.
- 8:08Speaker 1: When it comes to premises for throwing our two love
- 8:11Speaker 1: interests together, I think I prefer an ex lover scenario
- 8:15Speaker 1: to an enemy's to lover scenario simply because it makes
- 8:19Speaker 1: me believe in their ability to fall in love quickly
- 8:22Speaker 1: more than it does. Hey, I met you three days ago,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and now I'm calling you my soulmates.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. Well, but the problem is like they
- 8:31Speaker 2: hated each other. They didn't she hated him.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It was mad at him for breaking her heart.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so it's almost the same scenario as in
- 8:40Speaker 2: the Tyler Hines movie where you had Bethany joy Lynz
- 8:43Speaker 2: who was also hurt and angry at whatever his name
- 8:48Speaker 2: was in that movie. But CCB didn't pull it off
- 8:52Speaker 2: as good as Bethany joy Lynz did. I thought, I agree,
- 8:56Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Bethany Joey Lyndz was like
- 9:00Speaker 2: and she just was a better actress, like handling that
- 9:04Speaker 2: kind of like stuff, whereas like Candace Cameron was like
- 9:09Speaker 2: acted more annoyed than anything, and it just was I couldn't,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I didn't care. I didn't. I wasn't rooting for them
- 9:16Speaker 2: to get back together.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Okay, Candace Cameron Berat in the Christmas Contest or Candace
- 9:22Speaker 1: Cameron Bray in a Shoe ATTICX Christmas A shoe Attics
- 9:25Speaker 1: Christmas Get Me Too. The last thing I liked in
- 9:28Speaker 1: this movie was the scene with Lara and Ben lying
- 9:30Speaker 1: on the floor talking. I thought it was a sweet scene.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It felt real.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I enjoyed it when they were laying in front of
- 9:36Speaker 2: the fire talking on her pillows. Yeah, did you have
- 9:40Speaker 2: something to say about those pillows?
- 9:42Speaker 1: Well, it's in my did you see that? But we
- 9:45Speaker 1: can talk about it now. So she has a b
- 9:47Speaker 1: still pillow and it moves all around the house. It's
- 9:51Speaker 1: behind her all the time, and I understand that the
- 9:55Speaker 1: not so subtle message is that she's too busy and
- 9:58Speaker 1: she needs to reevaluate her life. However, be still is
- 10:01Speaker 1: a stupid message for a pillow, and I think they
- 10:04Speaker 1: could have found something with All is Calm to tie
- 10:07Speaker 1: it into the holiday theme, and I personally would have
- 10:10Speaker 1: enjoyed that better.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I like that you have such feelings about be still
- 10:14Speaker 2: being a stupid message on a pillow.
- 10:18Speaker 1: It's like putting sit down on a pillow.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You're funny. Meggan has the big feelings about these pillows.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Sorry, it's okay, It's time for what we wished for?
- 10:26Speaker 1: Can we talk about the elephant in her terrible hair?
- 10:29Speaker 1: The hair in this movie is so it's so bad.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Is a very pretty girl. I have enjoyed her hair
- 10:39Speaker 1: for years. I like how she has a different look,
- 10:43Speaker 1: a different hair look in every movie that she does.
- 10:46Speaker 1: It was a disaster in this movie. And I feel
- 10:49Speaker 1: like a jerk saying this because she's got good hair,
- 10:52Speaker 1: and she typically has great hair in her shows.
- 10:55Speaker 2: But what is she?
- 10:57Speaker 1: What happened?
- 10:59Speaker 2: I don't know because if you think about her cute
- 11:02Speaker 2: hair and a shoe Attex Christmas, like that cute bob,
- 11:05Speaker 2: like that angled bob, so adorable. This was so bad.
- 11:09Speaker 2: And I'm watching this movie and I'm like, okay, hear
- 11:12Speaker 2: me out. A woman of this age should not have
- 11:15Speaker 2: this long of hair. Now I'm saying this to a woman.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Youth age has this long of hair.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yes, but it looks so much better on you. It
- 11:25Speaker 3: was tragic on her. It was so terrible. The color
- 11:29Speaker 3: was terrible. It was like stringy and awful. At some
- 11:33Speaker 3: point she had this pebble's ponytail up front.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It's so bad.
- 11:38Speaker 1: And then her mom gets the bad hair treatment when
- 11:41Speaker 1: they're about to do their song portion of the contest
- 11:45Speaker 1: and she has that weird half side high ponytail and
- 11:50Speaker 1: with a scrunchy and I understand, I think you could
- 11:52Speaker 1: have driven the gold message home in a different way
- 11:55Speaker 1: than the side half high ponytail on a woman who
- 12:00Speaker 1: is a senior citizen.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It was awful, awful.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Something went wrong. I don't know if they could not
- 12:07Speaker 1: get their normal hair people. I don't know if she
- 12:10Speaker 1: had bad extensions. I don't know what happened. It was
- 12:13Speaker 1: bad to the point of being distracting.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I absolutely agree the entire movie. My first note is
- 12:21Speaker 2: blonde extensions. Question to Mark like it was super distracting.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And I have.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Talked about temporary hair like she usually has a super
- 12:30Speaker 1: to the minute hairstyle.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Go ahead, I agree like it. I forgot what I
- 12:35Speaker 2: was going to say. I'm sorry, Oh, this is what
- 12:37Speaker 2: I was going to say. Sometimes I have such like
- 12:38Speaker 2: a visceral reaction to something I see on my TV,
- 12:41Speaker 2: like I don't want to punch that person in the face.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And this is how I felt about that hair was
- 12:46Speaker 2: so bad.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It was so bad, it really bad. Did you wish
- 12:50Speaker 1: for anything else?
- 12:51Speaker 2: I How old is her mom supposed to be?
- 12:54Speaker 1: That's confusing. She's retired, so she goes to the senior
- 12:58Speaker 1: side to make new friends. But are we supposed to
- 12:59Speaker 1: be believe that she's much younger than these other women
- 13:02Speaker 1: who she plays cards with? Because I was like, is
- 13:04Speaker 1: she a volunteer at the senior center? But it seems
- 13:07Speaker 1: like she visits the senior center as a senior. That's confused.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the same thing I wondered. I was like,
- 13:14Speaker 2: is she like running the senior center and she's just
- 13:17Speaker 2: playing cards with these ladies or she's part of this
- 13:20Speaker 2: this is where she goes to socialize. Just was weird.
- 13:24Speaker 2: It was weird because Senior Center to me, feels like
- 13:27Speaker 2: a much older age than women that were in this show. Weird.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I wish that the mom didn't put so much guilt
- 13:37Speaker 2: on I don't even know Candice CCB whatever her character's
- 13:41Speaker 2: name was. She made her feel so guilty about it,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and Lara's like, look, I'm busy, I'm a CEO of
- 13:47Speaker 2: a business.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I can't see like.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Being on the local TV program or whatever doing the
- 13:53Speaker 2: stupid contest for your Senior center. Like I got a job, lady.
- 13:58Speaker 2: She's too much guilt.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You it and then her mom's life just wanted you
- 14:01Speaker 1: to have this opportunity to oh get your Christmas spirit back,
- 14:04Speaker 1: that's what she wants. Yeah exactly, Okay, you meddled too much.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah, get out. I wished that John Brotherton wasn't such
- 14:15Speaker 2: a f and dufis at the beginning of this movie,
- 14:18Speaker 2: like he transformed a little bit, but he was like
- 14:21Speaker 2: a real douchebag. I'm a beef jerky ex baseball player whatever.
- 14:28Speaker 2: He has these kids at a gym. They're in a room.
- 14:32Speaker 2: They're supposed to be practicing baseball. I don't in some room,
- 14:37Speaker 2: but like he so can't be bothered, and I'm like,
- 14:40Speaker 2: h you're so unlikable.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he transformed, but he talked so fast and to
- 14:47Speaker 1: that Also to that note, his assistant felt real put
- 14:50Speaker 1: out every single time he was asked to do something
- 14:53Speaker 1: by Ben, and my husband was like, dude, you just
- 14:56Speaker 1: do your job. Yeah, seriously, why are you being such
- 15:01Speaker 1: a dick?
- 15:02Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Really, his assistant, it's your job to be his assistant.
- 15:05Speaker 2: There was a little bit of redemption when he like
- 15:08Speaker 2: the boy who like wasn't so into baseball but was
- 15:11Speaker 2: like into the other and like he sees that kid
- 15:14Speaker 2: and like that makes a connection or whatever. But yeah, overall,
- 15:19Speaker 2: I was like, ew, what makes you likable?
- 15:21Speaker 1: I wish that when they did their songs for the contest,
- 15:24Speaker 1: that they weren't singing a cappella. Give those people some
- 15:27Speaker 1: background music. They played basic Christmas carols. I'm sure you
- 15:30Speaker 1: can get some instrumental rights to some sort of Christmas
- 15:33Speaker 1: carol to play behind them and it would make them
- 15:35Speaker 1: sound not quite so terrible.
- 15:37Speaker 2: It was so bad of both of them, like the
- 15:40Speaker 2: kids singing with him and the terrible dancing and then
- 15:43Speaker 2: some background music and then their other terrible dancing. It
- 15:47Speaker 2: was bad. It was so bad it like made me
- 15:50Speaker 2: uncomfortable to watch me too. Awful.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Awful, That's all I have time for. Did you see that?
- 15:57Speaker 1: And I would like to start with some of the
- 15:59Speaker 1: nicknames that were given to the contestants, particularly Special Snowflake.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Do you think that is a dig at those dirty
- 16:08Speaker 1: liberals given what we know about CCB and her politics
- 16:11Speaker 1: and her brothers.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Oh my god, I did not even put that together. Yes,
- 16:18Speaker 2: I definitely think it was Special Snowflake. I might have
- 16:22Speaker 2: to go back. Did she have any think that made her? Yeah,
- 16:26Speaker 2: there was nothing. The other chick was like a Mother
- 16:29Speaker 2: Earth type momstay. Was there an NRA joke in this
- 16:34Speaker 2: movie too? I think there was. Did she say something
- 16:37Speaker 2: about Ted Nugit in this movie?
- 16:40Speaker 1: I really don't know.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna look for it. If that's the case,
- 16:45Speaker 2: that yuck, Special Snowflake. I think you're right. Let me
- 16:49Speaker 2: ask you who and where do you find blueprints for
- 16:54Speaker 2: a cake?
- 16:55Speaker 1: Oh? My gosh, Yeah, let's talk the ulogue. What the hell?
- 16:59Speaker 1: Why is it so big? Also? Why is it so big?
- 17:02Speaker 2: Oh? I wrote that, I go, how big is that
- 17:05Speaker 2: Yulog cake? A ulag cake is as big as like
- 17:08Speaker 2: your forearm. It's not as big as a six foot man.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It was so big. Yeah, and we have as mentioned
- 17:16Speaker 1: a yulog in the movie that we reviewed yesterday Christmas
- 17:19Speaker 1: in Tahoe. It like fits on a plate.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yeah, how would she have put that in the oven?
- 17:24Speaker 1: Makes sense? And like it's multiple cakes rolled out assembled
- 17:28Speaker 1: to be a Eulog. This is too much.
- 17:31Speaker 2: It was too much. But when she fell into it,
- 17:33Speaker 2: I laughed out loud. I thought that was pretty damn funny.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I agree, I thought it was funny. Although there's absolutely
- 17:40Speaker 2: no reason she should have won over the beautifully decorated
- 17:43Speaker 2: gingerbread of the special Snowflake. Oh, one hundred percent, But
- 17:47Speaker 2: they had kicked under the curb.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Your cake was delicious, so we'll dismiss the fact that
- 17:52Speaker 1: your sweater threads were in the frosting, your terrible blonde
- 17:56Speaker 1: extensions were got a piece of hair gross.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Okay, when they were assembling the teams, he had all
- 18:04Speaker 2: those kids, and then they went to bake their things.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I was like, nobody wants four teenage kids on their team. Nope,
- 18:11Speaker 2: they do not.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, making intricate gingerbread No, no, terrible, nobody wants that.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It was they didn't make it?
- 18:21Speaker 1: Did I know? A friend of mine gave my daughter, well,
- 18:25Speaker 1: gave my kids. They're not gingerbread houses. They's sugar cookie houses.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But same thing. They're little beach houses. I don't know
- 18:30Speaker 1: if you saw them on their counter, but she and
- 18:31Speaker 1: her friends sat down and don't they look terrible. Nobody's
- 18:33Speaker 1: good at that?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Good, not even me. And I love to take a
- 18:36Speaker 2: lot of time to do that, and that always turns
- 18:38Speaker 2: out terrible.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Same. We just need better supplies than come in. The
- 18:41Speaker 1: prepackaged had been on the shelf for a year. Yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I think you have to make your own frosting for it. Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 2: And the trick to a gingerbread house is you glue
- 18:50Speaker 2: that thing together. You don't use the frosting to stick
- 18:53Speaker 2: it together. Wrong.
- 18:55Speaker 1: The frost house is you buy them pre assembled.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Okay, fair.
- 19:00Speaker 1: My husband went and gingerbread houses this year and they
- 19:01Speaker 1: didn't come preassembled, and I was like, what the hell
- 19:04Speaker 1: are these? I Am not doing this. It's hot.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Glue gun is your friend?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yes?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Agree, because you guys don't eat them, do you?
- 19:14Speaker 1: God? No, No, they're disgusting. I know how hard is
- 19:17Speaker 1: a rock.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I will say in this baking scene, CCB had a
- 19:22Speaker 2: beautiful green dress that she was wearing, and they did
- 19:26Speaker 2: make like special note of the high heels several times,
- 19:29Speaker 2: and I was like, it's that like a wink and
- 19:31Speaker 2: a nod to her shoe Attics Christmas movie, and she's
- 19:36Speaker 2: like a real big fan of wearing high heels.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I don't know that it's necessarily a nod to that movie,
- 19:40Speaker 1: but she wears heels all the time. And in fact,
- 19:43Speaker 1: in If I Only Had You, is that what it's called?
- 19:46Speaker 2: Last year?
- 19:47Speaker 1: What the hell is her movie called? Last year? It
- 19:48Speaker 1: was called I've Only Had Christmas. Yes, she has a
- 19:53Speaker 1: dancing scene and it's not great, and she even says
- 19:56Speaker 1: part of the reason it's not great is because she
- 19:58Speaker 1: refused to wear dance shoes. Sh wanted to wear the
- 20:01Speaker 1: stilettos she prefers to wear because she considers herself to
- 20:04Speaker 1: be short. So I think she just likes to wear
- 20:07Speaker 1: a heel. Wow, all right, did you see that Ben
- 20:10Speaker 1: gets a full house when they play poker?
- 20:13Speaker 3: Yes?
- 20:14Speaker 2: I thought that was quite funny.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Actually, yeah, me too. My kids kids called it out.
- 20:18Speaker 2: You let your kids watch this movie?
- 20:20Speaker 1: Let them.
- 20:21Speaker 2: I know it's g rated, I get it, but I'm
- 20:24Speaker 2: just surprised that they wanted to watch this movie.
- 20:27Speaker 1: To be fair, we usually watch a movie. Monday Night's
- 20:30Speaker 1: are Family Christmas movie Night, and I had been saying
- 20:33Speaker 1: all weekend, my husband wants to watch all of these
- 20:35Speaker 1: with me. And we had a busy weekend and I
- 20:37Speaker 1: was like, I gotta watch four movies this weekend, and
- 20:39Speaker 1: he kept being busy, and I was like, guess what.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Monday Family Movie Night is now a Hallmark Movie Night
- 20:44Speaker 1: because mommy has to watch a movie. So they were
- 20:46Speaker 1: fine with it because they enjoy Candice Cameron Bray, so
- 20:49Speaker 1: they were okay, but they are not going to watch
- 20:51Speaker 1: the rest of these with me.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Got it? Got it? I have a note here and
- 20:55Speaker 2: I don't know what it means because I can't remember.
- 20:58Speaker 2: All it is says is tabloid. Oh now, I remember,
- 21:03Speaker 2: would two people that are from a city on a
- 21:08Speaker 2: city like competition thing? Make a tabloid because they get kissed.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know he's famous. Ish. I
- 21:17Speaker 1: think it's known that they're a tabloid. No, but might
- 21:22Speaker 1: it make the local news?
- 21:23Speaker 2: Sure? I don't know. I don't know. This movie was terrible.
- 21:28Speaker 2: What did you rate it?
- 21:29Speaker 1: I regret my ratings after giving it to them, but
- 21:31Speaker 1: I rated at three stars.
- 21:33Speaker 2: No stop, this is a one point five when an
- 21:36Speaker 2: half stars. But it was such a stinker. It was terrible.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I would take a shoot attics Christmas and last year's
- 21:45Speaker 2: if I only had Christmas over this any day. Wow.
- 21:50Speaker 2: It was awful, awful, and that hair did not help
- 21:55Speaker 2: it at all.
- 21:55Speaker 1: There was rough. Hey, if you stuck around for all
- 21:58Speaker 1: four episodes of Girls Called this Week, we appreciate you.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Thank you so much. We're gonna be back next week.
- 22:03Speaker 1: And the movies that are on this weekend. On Friday,
- 22:07Speaker 1: we have the Eight Gifts of Hanukkah, On Saturday, we
- 22:10Speaker 1: have a Very Merry Bridesmaid, and Sunday we have Sister Swap,
- 22:15Speaker 1: a Hometown Holiday, the first in the two Sister Swap movies, Wendy,
- 22:18Speaker 1: what are you looking forward to?
- 22:20Speaker 2: Only one? And it's gonna be that Swister Swap Sister Swap.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I am excited about Sister Swap as well, starring Ashley
- 22:28Speaker 1: Williams and Kimberly Williams Paisley. I'm really curious to see
- 22:34Speaker 1: how they pull this off.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I have a quick question, though, do you think we've peaked?
- 22:38Speaker 2: Do we think movies have peaked? It's gonna be terrible
- 22:41Speaker 2: from here on out?
- 22:42Speaker 1: I do not, because later this month we have Christmas
- 22:45Speaker 1: House too, deck those halls. We also have the Sister
- 22:49Speaker 1: Swap movies which have the potential to be fantastic, and
- 22:51Speaker 1: we have a Dickins of a Holiday starring you know,
- 22:55Speaker 1: I love our Brooke, do you or say so? No?
- 22:58Speaker 1: I think we've got some potential great movies coming.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Come back next week for that. And this is a
- 23:06Speaker 1: two episode day. We also have a mini episode featuring
- 23:10Speaker 1: one of our holiday gift guides, so we'll make sure
- 23:12Speaker 1: you give that a listen as well. It's in the
- 23:14Speaker 1: same feed where you found this episode. Thank you for listening.
- 23:17Speaker 1: If you enjoy this podcast, please leave us a five
- 23:19Speaker 1: star rating and a review. We appreciate it. Have a
- 23:23Speaker 1: great weekend, everybody.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Goodbye bye,
