- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: If you guys have any comments for any of our guests, throw those in there and we'll pull them if we can.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to Gregor.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know, about baseball because this is probably the best time of year.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's October.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_03]: So baseball playoffs are happening hockey starts.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_03]: It started a couple of days ago, but for the savers and starts tonight.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then you have football and full swing.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: So we're talking about it's weird because I'm a huge Yankees fan and Greg's a Red Sox fan.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's weird that it's Patriots week and the Yankees knock the Red Sox out of the playoffs.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: I may be feeling really good.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: I may be feeling really good on on Sunday.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to get too much into the weeds on the baseball post season because it is Patriots week.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 1:35[SPEAKER_03]: Greg, what's your thoughts man?
- 1:36[SPEAKER_03]: Sabers tonight, man.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: Let's let's let's shoot there for a few minutes before we get Ethan in here.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Super quick.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: You did not waste four seconds when I jumped on backstage today to bring up the red socks.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't do this thing.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: You just gave it right to me.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you that man.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: I gave a horse.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: I was telling you I said both games.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: They were in it.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: and in a blink of an eye they were not in and it was over so but this week is flown by and it's probably because of how much the Red Sox two games.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: We got Thursdays and I football tonight.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited about the Sabers game.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: We have a Monday night football.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: So Sabers, I am excited.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Got my new flag, put the flag up today.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: I take the bills flag down, but the Sabers want up.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure my neighbors love me.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm excited, you're in hurricanes country, right?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_03]: I am.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: I went to the I went to the cup parade thinking to myself, man, Buffalo would burn down if this ever happens.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was so, it was so polite and cozy down there.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the bills on their bills or sabers either one wins wins a championship.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_03]: The city will burn for for years.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's it's over.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, man, I managed to tweet something that they with a picture there and like the hurricanes fans, they came after me, but it's a pretty good hockey market down here.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: They draw really well.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: They have passion of fans.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: So not bad.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited about the season though.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see what these young guys are going to do.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we'll see how it goes.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't know, cool league.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's ramping up.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's on the fourth line.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure whether that's really getting you.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's just a condition type thing for him.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I would love to see Krebs down the fourth line.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad to not see him on the top two for a change.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm excited for this year.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think they've got some holes.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: And they didn't really fill those.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's somewhat unrealistic for these young guys that jump in and just contribute immediately.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: But there's, I mean, there is a lot of promise there.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: Fast, hockey, I like it.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_03]: Golden and still concerned for me and I'm going to preach for hell of a book as long as I can.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_03]: But that's another another story for another day.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, we're going to talk about the Patriots and bills match up.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: We have Ethan Herwoodson.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: So we're we're going to bring him on.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: He's early.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_03]: He was gracious enough to join us early.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to bring him in and Ethan, how are we doing, man?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, guys doing.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for having me.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: glad to have you even.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, man, we're going to throw you right in the fire real quick.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I know you know it's coming.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: So elephant in the room, Drake may like what's going out with them.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: We've been talking about, I mean, we follow the FCE, obviously each week, but I've been saying it just he doesn't look right to me this year.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking maybe the shoulder's still an injury.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to show up on the injury, ported.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Then yesterday, I look like there was some PR massaging going on.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: got variable in him coming it's almost like they sat down the room with like all right here's the story line here's the tote suddenly he shows up on the injury poor like what exactly is happening down there with me is this a physical thing is it a coaching thing is it a mental thing like what what's working.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: down there right now.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think you could probably take bits and pieces from all of that and say that there's some truth to all of that.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think the one thing for me that sticks out is just a decision making.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like he has the ability to drive down the field, but we saw on Seattle, we saw on Jacksonville, an intersection in the Amazon.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're leaving points on the table here, and he
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: The one thing that I keep going back to is Josh Allen, when he was first two years or so, had all the physical traits in the world, right?
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, could make any throw in the field, can extend any play with his legs?
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: The last thing that really clicked for him was just the decision-making and the moxie and the the wear with all of playing quarterback.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Thence to fondig's came and it suddenly got better.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think ideally that was what AJ Brown is going to be for the Patriots.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: Suddenly something's just out of out of sorts for Drake and It's not like he looks hurt There are few throws that are a little under thrown so you can argue the shoulder.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: He says that there's no Jurassic injury like variable says there's no drastic injury So is there really an injury is it really just sort of like maybe just needs a little massage here there like what is
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: the injury, I'm not really sure.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's right shoulder.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Took all the snaps yesterday.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, I think it's just, it comes down to decision-making and it comes down to something doesn't look right from when the ball is snapped into when it leaves his hands.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's just something is a rye for him.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's to put asking you to get in someone's mind, which is somewhat unfair, but best guess you can.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: We saw him have a really good year last year.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: He was using his feet, he was throwing the ball well.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we talked about being schedule merchants stuff, but he still played the games, and he was still going against NFL players, and you're still making the throws, and he scoring the points, and they went to the Super Bowl.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: He had better decision making last year.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't seem like something that just goes away, and I know you lose a receiver,
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen Alan do it with bad receivers for multiple years.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Is this seem like it's more of an offensive schematic type thing?
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, is, is McDonald's maybe sitting there being like, hey, when this comes up, try to do this or don't do this and like, it's just becoming overload for him at it.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: It seems that the decision making would fall off a cliff that quickly is odd to me.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's also, you know, this is the year where teams have filmed on Drake May in the offensive scheme.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, sort of catch everyone by surprise.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's his first year with my
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: You don't really know what you're getting in the Patriots last year, like it took everyone by surprise and you sort of had to adapt on the fly of how do we scout this guy, how do we defend this guy?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you don't have a full season to evaluate how he plays in this offense.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: teams are running a lot of cover six teams are really forcing him to make these decisions down the field.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not coming as easy as it did, you know, a year ago at this time.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: And Josh McDaniels doesn't really change what he does.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: And to a credit, it's worked for so long.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of that is Tom Brady, a lot of that is like it worked with a rookie Mac Jones.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so it
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes you've got to figure out something to do.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like trivia on Henderson, one like has been barely used in this offense that can really help open up the playbook, space the field.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: kind of try to get them involved more.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And so there are just these few things that like, the Patriots offense could look a lot better.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you, this is an argument that you can make for everything, right?
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: Where it's good.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: But the lot better, if you just cut down on the forcing it into tight windows, maybe try to just hit some short throws, really just get your rhythm up.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: Feels like they're just sort of, it does not look right.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: It does not look like an offense that can be sustainable.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, two decades at this point and it still does not look like an offense that we've seen the Patriots when at or at least look relevant and it's it just it feels like he's getting over boarded with a lot of stuff.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: And part of that is just what do I do what do I do panic throw guy covered in the end zone you miss out on six points.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, I was going to say what more may and then I will move off get to the rest of the team and the state has got to follow up here.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: That being said, there's no way he's not hearing the noise he's getting asked by the media.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to feel the pressure because he's human.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, where did if this continues to go poorly, where do you see this ending?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you can't bench this guy, right?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's your star quarterback.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, do you, is McDonald, I guess maybe the better question is, is McDonald's at risk for maybe losing his job if this continues going south?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like at this point it's too drastic to say it's I mean we're three weeks in and this is a team that just came off the Super Bowl.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: But if it continues down this route like I don't think you'd bend straight.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's out of the the realm of possibility.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Medanials is you know beloved here by some hated by some who just cannot stand the play calling I don't think that this is something that like you would lose a job over
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: You wouldn't ventricly.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the last possible or I think the the one thing that this season or at least this start could dictate is he's up for extension next year.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: There was conversation before the year he has another season like last year or can even build on it.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're looking at $7 million a year.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: You're looking at a record setting quarterback contract reset the market.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's a really tough sell if this continues into week five six seven eight into the by week.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: that changes the scope of where this team is, because you went into the year saying, okay, we're allocating whatever it's going to be $700 million or whatever next year for Drake May.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: Right now, I'm not so sure that that's stamped and ready to go.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's talk about some positives.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: Thoughts on the defense, and then I do have the injury report from yesterday.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, it's Wednesday, it's the first one.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, we can see what happens Thursday, Friday.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: Is there any concern level for Christian Barmore and Christian Gonzalez that they're not going to be able to go against the bills offense this week?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: What's your thoughts?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like what's what have you seen?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure what is what you guys were able to see during the media portion yesterday of practice.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like what's the word so far on those guys?
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Gonzalez, Barmore, Morgan Moses, all starters, they all felt like veteran rest days to me, you know, a little banged up.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's not something that I would be overly concerned about, all three of them were in the locker room.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: The one thing that did make my
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, perk my ears up a little bit is because all this was scheduled to speak to reporters before practice.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: That didn't happen.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: We're able to talk to them in the locker room about what I'm not sure, but he didn't speak wasn't present at practice against Jacksonville.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: There was a tackle in the first quarter where hard third down tackle.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: a little shaken up, he ran off to the sideline because they forced the pun, but was getting checked out for a shoulder, stayed in for the next two quarters.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe that's just more of a maintenance thing.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really take much stock into anything, or at least concern into those guys missing.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: If they were to miss practice today, maybe that's a little bit more of an issue and we can address that in four hours time or so, but I'd say right now I'd expect all those three guys to play.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_03]: And just a quick follow-up on the defense, how do you feel overall, and what's the kind of the overall feeling of the defense now that they gave up 35 points to Jacksonville, but you look back at that game and there was just a lot of mistakes by the offense.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a way that this New England defense, which has been good for a couple years now, is set up, how does this matchup make you feel about going up against the bills and the offensive line and the run game, things like that?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_03]: I know I kind of, it's kind of a broad question, but like what's the feel of that's probably the biggest matchup that everybody's looking at is that Patriots defensive line against the bills offensive line.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_03]: And it's an AFC East game, right?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's always weird things happen.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_03]: It's always going to be tough.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be physical.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_03]: What's your take on the Patriots defense against the bills, the bills offense?
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it feels like this is the biggest test that they've had so far.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: You go they went against Seattle without their starting quarterback.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: They went against Pittsburgh with a shell of their starting quarterback in Aaron Rodgers and then Jacksonville good offense playoff team from a year ago But I think Buffalo is just completely different animal and I think that This was a team that all summer was touting we want to be the number one scoring defensive league and they gave up five red zone touchdowns last week
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going against Josh Allen, who, you know, in the red zone is border line unstoppable.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: This is a big matchup for the defensive line getting pressure.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: This was something that they didn't really do at a high rate last week is get to Trevor Lawrence.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: And when they did get to Trevor Lawrence, they weren't really able to bring him down.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: He was a bait pressure, slip out of a sack, pick up some yards.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be hard with Josh Allen, like that's going to be the story for this defense.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: I trust their secondary.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like they have great man corners, Chris Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones, they got Kevin Bire in the back ends.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't worry for the Patriot's sake of covering the bills or severs or making life difficult the passing lanes.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's, can they stop James Cook, can they stop Josh Allen when he's taking the ball himself?
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because this is an edge room that has looked all right, good at times, but it's not a very
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you get Milton Williams and Christian Barmore in the middle, out of the edge, you really get guys that aren't really known for past rushing, and if they are, they haven't been in the league for that long.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the game is going to be one when the bills are on offense and trying to move the ball inside the tackles.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: Talk to us, Ethan, if you can, just for a minute about the lineback in court for the Patriots.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: So, where do they sell, or are they better on run stop versus past, you know, past defense, because Buffalo is going to test them probably on both fronts here.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think the charges did a really good job last week of kind of spreading out their line keep in Josh Hale and contained.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Helen had a pretty big limb after the game last week.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: Suddenly it doesn't show up on the injury poor, but my guess is he's going to be a little big MP.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: Where did the linebacker sit from the Patriots side as they're strengthened weakness?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the Patriots have been running a lot of course.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: three safety a lot and sometimes we'll move them into the box.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: So that just gives them some speed.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: The main guys that are in the middle of Robert's Bullying Christian Ellis are more of your big body heart-hitting middle linebackers.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: There are times where spleen will go out and coverage and run with a tight end down the seam.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: probably going up against Donald King K this week, but primarily they're good at filling up these running lanes and big body guys, sound tacklers, don't really miss many tackles when they're in their vicinity.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're good, they're quick.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: But if you get them on crossing routes, like it's going to be something that Khalil Shakir could have a good game because the Patriots want you to push the ball into the middle of the field, because Christian Gonzalez is, well, we'll shut down nearly any receiver on the league in Carlton Davis, physical with the line of scrimmage.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: The Patriots are going to want to funnel everyone into the middle of the field and keep it inside the numbers.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're good.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: The Spolane and Ellis are really good when a guy is up at them and they're stopping
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: But if there's these quick hitters in the middle, that's sort of where you can get a little flat-footed, that's probably where Buffalo can shine.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: Let's shift over to the Patriots offense here.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line, this is something that Buffalo has seen the last couple weeks with a really banged up offensive line that they're going against.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: On the defense, Patriots have some injuries on that front right now, even with,
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: kind of coming down with something here.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Even with banged up offensive lines last two weeks, the bills were getting pressed, past rush.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_00]: Wasn't insanely quick past rush though.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: So Russo is obviously having a stellar year over here at this point.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: What are the, how good are the backups?
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what is this offensive line?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: Are these guys going to be able to block?
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: You think the bills defensive line is at least keep them at bay?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_00]: Are they under, underrated for what they're doing?
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: Or is this, like, are the Patriots in trouble from this front here?
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think the right side of the line to this point has been a lot weaker than the left side, and coming into the season, you feel a lot comfortable about the right side than you did about the left side.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: Will Campbell, left tackle, has been very good, like miles beyond what people had expected, playing up to the first round tag, Elijah Verde Tucker, next to him.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: The left side is not the problem.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're protecting Drake Maze Black side.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: The right side, they lose Mike and Wenu to a broken ankle.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: When we glide later, Greg Benrow and his replacement goes now at the thigh injury.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: So, they're on their third string guard, and we don't know if it's going to be Walter Rouse, who is a converted tackle.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: We get Ben Brown was dealing with the knee injury a few weeks ago, and then they just sound signed map prior off the Cardinals practice squad, who we haven't seen.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: We'll probably see my practice today.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: That right there is how the Patriots are going to get beat.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's right guard, right tackle, Morgan Moses, a little shaky last week.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: If Greg Russo has lined up on the right side, like that's going to be something that is going to be a consistent, if he's playing like he did the last few weeks,
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Jared Wilson, it's been all right.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: He was a center in college, converted to guard last year, and then it's now back at center.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: So there's some growing pains at the NFL level there.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I think with the right side of the line is pretty banged up, pretty weak.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to be something to watch.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because you don't really know we're going to get it right guard right now.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: We don't even know what we're going to get.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably going to be Walter Rouse who 98% of people in the wing of the Denver even heard of before they traded for him.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's where you're going to find Rousseau, too.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: So sticking with the offense, how, if you're writing the game plan for the Patriots this week, how do you attack the Bill's defense?
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, we're still waiting to see if Christian Benford's going to go.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_03]: He's on the injury report with the toe injury.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: They have a rookie and Davis and Ignosan who played, who came in the game last week.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_03]: Play pretty decent for his first live game reps of being that number two corner.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_03]: Maxwell Harrison, another obviously younger corner on the other side.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_03]: The bill's secondary played better this past week than they did the first two games when they felt like they were just in a track meet every game.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_03]: If you're writing the script for the Patriots, do you run the ball this week?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_03]: Is this a quick intermediate passing game?
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: What's your way that you could detect this bill's defense to try to be successful on Sunday?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Patriots just need to run the ball.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: They have not run the ball well through three weeks.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: Other than a Traveon Henderson 39 yard touchdown in week two, like it is a grind for them to pick up three yards.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like it is hard for them to run the ball.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: And Traveon Henderson, we saw last year against Buffalo when they were at Gillette.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: really ran well, just would have this burst and broke free for a touch down before they ended up losing it in the second half.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Trevano Anderson's barely been used.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: Had a knee injury in week one or an ankle injury in week one.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Getting him the ball running the ball outside in between.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know the guard in the tackle off tackle get the ball in space like that's how the patriots can attack this defense That's how they can open up the rest of the playbook because I did if three weeks ago if you had asked me that same question You say Drake mate you trust Drake.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: May you let Drake made you when you did in Buffalo last year and throw the ball and test this secondary Three weeks later you're like well, I Don't have the same confidence in him that I did three weeks ago when part of that is just because
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL's just, what have you done for me lately?
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: And lately, he's not done much for this offense.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, why you kind of have to take the ball out of Drake in his hands, because
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want him to have another repeat performance of Seattle where you play just enough good football to be competitive potentially win and then you lose at the end.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think this is a game that you have the same sort of flexibility about losing a Seattle game.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is a game you have to win.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not worth work too.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: So it's marvellous.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just a football game.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: But like you can't lose this game, especially at the start that you had.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think given the ball the trivia on Henderson,
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: keeping time of possession in your hands, like taking Josh Allen and that offense off the field.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the way they win.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: They win running off tackle, getting the ball into their speedsters hands and trying to attack them off the edges so they can at least open up play action.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: And Ethan, I know we've got a couple more minutes here with you.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: Why do you think they've had so much trouble running the ball this year?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: Is it been just the inconsistency with the offensive line starters or is there something more fun than metal with why the Patriots are having trouble
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think probably just a little bit of both, like the offensive line all year, at least during the summer was the same five guys.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: And they looked good, will Campbell looked unbelievable.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: They've just been much better in past protection than they have in creating these lanes in the run game.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, once the running game stops clicking, then you're forced to throw the ball a lot more, and that really hasn't looked either.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Looked well either.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think at this point, like the Patriot's Office is just in like a rut beyond belief.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: And ideally, you would have thrown the ball so you can settle in your running backs and then you can start running the ball or vice versa.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: And nothing's really going well.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Something's got to give.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think the offensive line though, at least the right side has not looked that good.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that the last few weeks that's been their detriment is they've been unable to run to the right side.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: You can only run to the left side for for so many times before team start King and on that.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anyone Buffalo fan who's maybe not dialed in?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously with the May talk dominating most of the headlines right now.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything locally that you're looking at that maybe it's under reported that you can't look at me like, oh, this might be a key to this game here.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything there or is everything kind of flushed out like?
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: injuries and consistency, and it's what it is.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's most of it.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think just one storyline that I've been looking at the last week or so.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a name that people Hunter Henry has been Drake May's guy the last few years, not really doing much as a past blocker, not really doing much as a receiver.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: Last week, I was I was confident.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a perfect Hunter Henry day helped Drake make it out of this rut.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: Hunter Henry, you're tied into the red zone, like find your
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: I will bang that drum once again.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like this feels like a tight end weak for bold teams.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Straightly once a settle in, hit your big tight ends.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like that is the way for Drake to feel comfortable and say, okay, I like my decision-making this can, let's move the ball using our tight ends.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then for Buffalo, like don't decay, it's probably going to have a big game up the middle because DJ Moore might not get as open as he did the last few weeks or last two weeks and then the injury.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like Christian Zollas is Carlton Davis, they're going to take out your receivers to this game.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a tight end game.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm looking at, but Hunter Henry hasn't really been that good statistically.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: So far, you would have expected it earlier than this.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: This is for my take away.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I like it.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: All right, two-part question.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: First one's more of a gut feel.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: But do you think Drake may kind of shake out of his rut this week and then the second part is, who wins his game?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I mean, the last three weeks, my gut feel was, oh, he has a bad game.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: He has the talent to bounce back.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: He will bounce back next week.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: going into this week, what I've been saying is, okay, well, until he shows me a consistent four quarters, I don't feel comfortable in him truly bouncing back.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: So again, I would like to say that this is the game like last year in Buffalo where he has his breakout and he can be the perennial Super Bowl favorite in the conference and look the part,
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, I don't feel comfortable saying that right now because he's yet to put together a good game in totality that you can say, I feel comfortable.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think Buffalo wins, I think Buffalo wins probably by two scores.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: I just, I think it will be low scoring and won't be like a 30 point game like we saw last year in Buffalo.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: 24 10 24 13 around that where I think Buffalo pulls out late.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: I just I have not seen enough from this and we went off and so truly trust them And if they make me eat my words that I eat my words.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: I just there's nothing that I've seen that gives me confidence that this team can go into Buffalo tough environment against a team that
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: you're, again, still kind of chasing, even though you haven't been in the last year, you're really chasing them and go up and, and, and don't race them and, and put up 30 points.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: I, I just don't, I just don't see it.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's like betting against my homes in the playoffs, against Buffalo, you know, all right.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, Dave, anything else?
- 26:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, can we have you on again for the rematch for the second game?
- 26:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think that'd be great to have you on.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_03]: We can kind of, obviously there'll be much more season to cover at that point.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_03]: And before you get out of here, work in everybody find not just what you do here, obviously talking about the Patriots, but podcasting, things you put out on social media stuff like that, work and they follow you.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so my Twitter, her with sports, my name is down there, just with sports with another.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: I've come to Patriots for on SI, there's Sports Illustrated Page, and then I've podcasted Fourth and Foxboro, that comes out by week or twice every week.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: I will be in Buffalo for the game, so if anyone has food recommendations, wing recommendations, hit me up, I'm always looking for a new place to try.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: 9-11 or barbell.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_00]: Those are my two.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's what that's what I've heard.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: I've heard Duff's is like the place that It's fine.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're steady good and down earlier.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, barbell is, yeah, barbell is the place to go.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's where you want to go.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: But if you go to 9-11, it's casual and so before worn.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right, man, even thanks for your time, man.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be sure to reach out and get you out for the next one.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: And good luck this week.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: Just not too much.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: Appreciate it.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: Take everything.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_03]: Cheers, then.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_03]: That is Ethan Hurwitz, Patriots Beat Reporter.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: How do you, what's your thoughts?
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: Did he, how do you think he felt about that?
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: The game.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: didn't seem like he felt that good I've got a so I've got like this nagging feeling in the back about this game I still think that those don't do it I think that's do it sneaky tight um don't you do it it's probably just my reservation I'm like the defense right where I'm now I'm but who knows I don't know I still think that those win no matter what so I was talking to my wife about this last night because she said how do you feel about the game
- 28:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I said, in years past, AFCE games always made me feel anxious, even though, like in 2020 when the bill swept a division, like I still, it's AFCE, PTSD sinks in last year after the bills lost to the Patriots, every divisional game after that, I felt uneasy.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying to, and I told my wife this, I said, I'm trying to go into this with a different perspective because we have a different coaching staff, right?
- 29:08[SPEAKER_03]: There was something, and again, I never want to keep piling on Sean McDermott and just trying to put negatives on the man's name because I just don't want to do that.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: But I feel like,
- 29:19[SPEAKER_03]: This is a game in previous years where I'd be concerned, no matter how much better we thought the bills were than the Patriots, just because it's a divisional game, they should win their favorites to win, and it's like the Chargers game, right?
- 29:31[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody talked about playing down to your opponent, is it a trap game like the bills had laws in the McDermott era, and then we saw what we saw Sunday.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_03]: We can't get any version of that against the Patriots.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: We just can't.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like it's gonna be a slug fest.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like it's gonna be,
- 29:48[SPEAKER_03]: They have a really good secondary and I feel like as good as Josh is and I don't want to give away too much because we're going to talk about this in depth tomorrow.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like as good as Josh is, he might have issues finding guys to throw the ball to tomorrow.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: Again, similar to the Chargers, this is a desperate Patriot team.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_03]: This is a team that is trying to find confidence in their quarterback.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_03]: They're trying to not fall three games behind the bills.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not thinking about.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't thought once about going up three games on the Patriots.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm thinking about going one and a no.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I like that because if that is 100% the mentality that he has for himself and for the guys in the locker room, I feel like let's not get too far ahead of ourselves because maybe in the past, maybe that's been an issue.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_03]: And McDermott always said that they don't talk about, they don't look down the road, they're playing for what's right in front of him,
- 30:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's a different regime, like it's a different coaching staff.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know, maybe prep is different during the week, maybe about the mindset's different, maybe how they practice is different.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_03]: Again, we talked about Kian, not practicing again.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_03]: It could have been just they're trying to limit him.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: And we'll get Kyle from Banged Up bills.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get his opinion.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to join us here in a little bit.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_03]: How do you feel like, honestly, looking at this game on paper, the bills have the advantage on so many fronts.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_03]: against the Patriots, and it's not just because of how the Patriots are playing so far this year, but overall, you could, this could be week one, and you could say, you could tell me that the bills have the advantage at XYZ, and I would believe you.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_03]: Does that make sense?
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, as he then was talking, he was saying, like, hey, the or two corners are going to shut down your receivers.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm thinking to myself, OK, on this can be a zero reception game, but then he mentioned, like, oh, should cure could have a big game in this one.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, he thought was Skylar Bell.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know Dave, they have the advantage, I think, where the
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe ability for the patriots to kind of take advantage of them is obviously if we over rush right if we push the rushers the outside which in past years has been a problem had really seen it this year they seem to be rushing.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: much better from the lane perspective, but like Drake may, he do can run, so he can get you on the legs, which might be, let me based on how Bernard's feeling, right?
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: You might be able to take advantage of some some Drake may rush as this game, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for 50, 60.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: In that could that could extend some drives could get you in the red zone.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I think that's one potential winner We don't know what we're getting on every secondary.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we'll talk to Kyle Mike got tells me that Benford's down until After the by week, so yeah, if it's turf tow for sure.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so like that is the unknown and if you're looking for Drake made a half kind of a rebound game or kind of get his groove back
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: This is the one where theoretically, I don't care if you have a J-Brother, and you've got the same receivers minus booty, but like you've got NFL receivers out there They might not be great, but we've seen Ellen do this with not great receivers
- 33:08[SPEAKER_00]: You also might not have not great corners covering those not great receivers who are learning a new scheme.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: So, not saying they're going to take advantage of them.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_00]: But if I'm looking, if I'm the Patriots fan looking at, like, how do I beat this team?
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going, well, Drake, make and run.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: He could take advantage of you on corners.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: We can get those passes in and kind of get a flow of the game.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: And that can get you.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then might get Buffalo press in a little bit, right?
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: If Harrison and IGB are starting to get not lit up, but if like they're starting to get worked a little bit,
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like, someone that doubt creeps in there right now, they start to play off a little bit more.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: You leave your safety as exposed.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's so many spider webs here, Dave.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think Ethan was spot on about the tight ends for both teams.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I'm concerned with DL for covering Hunter Henry.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: If that's...
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: Because in years past, tight ends was always Terren Johnson, right?
- 33:59[SPEAKER_03]: Say what you want about how his tenure with Buffalo Ended, like Terren Johnson was a tight end, that was his guy.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_03]: And now obviously the way the system is, it may be a little different.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, I'm I'm I'm
- 34:13[SPEAKER_03]: concerned about the secondary, but I am also very intrigued to see if the bills can get pressure on Drake may, which I think they can.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_03]: Watching Greg Russo not put his hand in the dirt and being able to stand up for the free rush.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_03]: He has come out and said him and Bradley Cheb of both come out and said that that is so much better than putting your hand in the dirt because you can see everything.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: You can see things transpiring in front of you, you can see where they're doing motion and stuff at that.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_03]: But if the bills can get pressure and cause Drake may be into some turnovers, maybe that build some confidence, maybe that build some confidence with IGB, maybe that build some confidence with Maxwell Harrison.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I, I,
- 34:57[SPEAKER_03]: talked about yesterday, Harrison was targeted five times gave up one reception for five yards.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_03]: He should have had a pick.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_03]: I thought IGB when he came in, he did some really good things.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_03]: And there's been some film out there that I've seen guys breaking down about the cerebral aspect of IGB's game has not been talked about enough.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: There was some clips that they were showing about him in the run game, being able to close the gap,
- 35:25[SPEAKER_03]: on some things that was really nice.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_03]: It was, he took a bad angle on a pressman coverage, but he was able to make up for it that the long deep shot that Herbert tried down the right sideline that he made up for me to pass brick up there.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 35:39[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's all going to be confidence building as the season goes and they, and we talked about it yesterday, the only way to do that is to get the reps and I think Joe Marino when he was on, he was talking about it too, like the only way to build confidence with young players, whether it's a second-year player, guys from the last year's draft or the guys that were from this year's draft is they have to play.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think we as Bill's fans, we have to understand we can't have it both ways.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_03]: We can't have a team that's dominating every game and make a run in the Super Bowl without some hiccups like we can't and then we can't have rookies playing all the time too because if the rookies are playing, there's going to be mistakes.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_03]: They have to make the mistakes to learn
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: to grow from it so that when we get to week 16, 17, 18 postseason, those guys have seen stuff before, right?
- 36:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because some of the teams that we play this season, obviously, they may see them again in the postseason, right?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't think it's interesting.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how you're going to get better today.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: If it's, I mean, it's huge sports, right?
- 36:40[SPEAKER_00]: You get better by practicing, you get better by playing a game against people that you are not practicing against because
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: people move different ways, they have different skill sets, different body types, and if you like if you're going against DJ Moore every day and practice, you kind of know the his size, you know some of his moves, he still might be better than you, but like muscle memory kicks in, you go against your marachase, you've got a different body structure, you got different movements, even if you get beat, you're going to have tough days of the office,
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: But unless you get beat, and you've got a coacher, and like, hey, when it does this, this is the technique you can do, like you can visualize it as a player, and that's why I've been, like, we go back and forth half jokingly by, like,
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: year one.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I don't want to hear year run, but like you got that there is a fine line there between is it year one and do I get these guys out there making mistakes to get them reps versus let's get the stuff looking right and then slowly build them and I don't get this right answer for you know which approaches is better, but you know I'm excited I'm nervous, but I'm excited to see these guys play a full game and see what they can do and hopefully you know take a step from there.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we don't have a choice, right?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_03]: If Benford can't play, it's IGB.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_03]: And we didn't even talk about Joey Porter Jr. getting traded to the Cowboys for a 2021 pick in a 2021 second round pick.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_03]: And I've already seen the backlash on Twitter about why didn't, why didn't bean do that?
- 38:14[SPEAKER_03]: Why didn't bean do that?
- 38:15[SPEAKER_03]: Why are we going to, the guy, the million?
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Porter wants a ton of money, like a ton of money.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 38:24[SPEAKER_03]: They're already paying Benford.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_03]: They have two guys on rookie deals.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: So right now I don't think it would be the time to spend a bunch more money.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_03]: The Cowboys let the Cowboys do whatever the Cowboys do.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_03]: They made all those trades last year for defensive help.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_03]: It didn't do anything for them.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_03]: They're second areas terrible this year.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's just really bad.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_03]: It was on display
- 38:48[SPEAKER_03]: in that game against the Ravens, where they gave up that 30-something-yard pass with seven seconds left like so Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are always going to be desperate.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_03]: He's always going to do this once a year, he's going to make this big blockbuster move and I don't know.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think that now people are probably more
- 39:07[SPEAKER_03]: talking about it because of the Christian Benford injury.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_03]: People have been very down on Christian Benford in Joe Morino even talked about it when we had him on Tuesday.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, it's been three games.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's a new defense.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's a new system.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's been three games.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_03]: They're still trying to work things out.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_03]: And now he's injured, and that was like the jumping off point for Bill's Mafia on X to say, well, why didn't Band and Bean be all over that?
- 39:31[SPEAKER_03]: Why wouldn't he trade a 2,0276 round pick in a 2,028 second round pick?
- 39:37[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_03]: What's your what's your take on order?
- 39:40[SPEAKER_00]: These DB contracts, they never live up to the value and I know you can get out of them, but that if you're a band a guy 50 billion a year, you can spread that out a little bit, but
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: or trading for pieces, whatever you're doing, but even then you're not in the value.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you look at, okay, Trevi and Diggs had a great season, gave him a big deal.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_00]: How's that work?
- 40:01[SPEAKER_00]: And he's played for three different teams since.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Christian Gonzalez will see he's a really good corner.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: Might be one of the best in the league, if not the best.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_00]: But these deals, they never cornered these huge deals never work out.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: What the jets do.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: They traded their dude.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I just don't, I don't see it ever
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: ever coming where it actually helps its team and you have the 50 million might not look as bad four years from now, but next year it does.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: And we are, what we're restructuring deals a couple of weeks ago to free up like an extra two million just to find in case we need to sign someone based on injuries, which at some point will happen.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: So like these are the things that I look at.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: Those those those those contracts just never live up to value.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and if you look at the chiefs model, like they don't re-sign their draft fix, like it may not be the best model to like follow, but they just, they draft corners, they develop them, and when it's time to pay them 30 million, they trade them.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_03]: And they have two of the best three corners.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like if you look at anything like advanced analytic stats, they have an amazing set of corners.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_03]: So I see that our next guest Kyle has joined us.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_03]: So we're gonna move into the Bill's injury portion.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_03]: Kyle, what's going on, man?
- 41:17[SPEAKER_03]: Happy Thursday, too, yeah.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: Happy Thursday, guys.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_02]: Glad to be here again.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_03]: The Kyle?
- 41:23[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we know we don't have you for a lot of time.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: So let's get right into it.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about Josh Allen.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_03]: What did you see Sunday and are we should be concerned with our Golden Goose?
- 41:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'll lead with, we shouldn't be concerned.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: He did take a shot to his lower left leg with 946 left to run up the left side.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of got the leg hit from behind toward the calf and on the outside.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then he had another charger player come in and hit the inside portion of his knee.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: At the time it looked like more earth and injured.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody's so freaking out because he's lipping around.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: But if he had suffered some type of actual damage to the knee, whether it's Maniskus, MCL, ACL,
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care how tough you are.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: You need some time to kind of test it out, or at least be assessed.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_02]: You need a few moments get yourself to it there.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: So yesterday, was he limpin' absolutely, but was he actually injured?
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: Not really, you know, and he doesn't show up in the injury court.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's an honest issue and we know it's gonna take much more for him to play through or to miss a game or miss time than what we saw in Sunday.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Benford, obviously down to me as a non-doctor, which I will always claim myself as non-doctor, but I was on Dave, I said I had enough knee injuries where I'm pretty good at diagnoses below the waist.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, my gut tells me that's turf toe.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: What did you see on that play that kind of would give you indication about what it might or might not be.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: The weird thing about is, he played that he left on.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: He was just doing the normal route.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't doing anything special.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like he was footing a ground.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't see a mechanism for a turf toe.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: And even the play prior, he kind of fell into a heap with some other players.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: I was looking to see whether something landed on his heel, which would have forced the toe and hyper extension and caused that spray and that we see the turf toe.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not seeing anything clearly.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: So if it is turf toe, we didn't see a clear mechanism of it.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: And if it's not, I mean, there's other things that you can't have a toe injury for, but usually when I do see toe, it's turf toe, but I don't believe it to be the case right now there.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: So we know he missed a game last year, late in the season, he suffered a toe injury during the during practice and he was work around in a surgical shoe and it was unclear whether you play and he missed and they was fine the next week there.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if it's the same thing with this.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_02]: It'd be unfortunate if it wasn't else like that there.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'm leaning toward him not playing just because it's the early season they do the corner about depth, but I'm not convinced it's turf tone until I see something that tells the other wise.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: So quick follow up on that one.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: I know this is asking you.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_00]: know something you maybe don't know, but let's go back to a year ago where you just had the magical, you know, the magical toe injury and then play, you know, Mr. Game came back.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything you can think about in someone's toe that like is reoccurring like that that's not a spring and it's not a break that would pop up maybe, you know, once or twice a year if you're doing certain things that just reoccurse.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good question.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking about there.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: There are those size and white bones, if I'm pronounced that correctly.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: That act is like what your pedal does in your knee there.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: So the act is the, with the pulley mechanism in the toe.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: So you can't have issues with that.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: They've had, sometimes that are moved those.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_02]: Or let those things heal up there.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_02]: I can't imagine his age is to have a bunion bike.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's possible.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: You can ask the better.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_02]: injury down at that area.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: I do you think old days when you think bunions there?
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a day of injury.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: You could have, I mean, the thing I'll tell, I mean, I don't think I, you can't do a whole lot for broken toe.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it may be the big toe you could, but like, I don't think we'd want to see him wait, wait, bring through his foot there if he broke his toe.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: After the game he was in good spirits.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I think I saw that Brown said he had to put it off in the locker room.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_02]: There's always so much to tell me, I guess suppose to go jammed it, there's just not a lot in there.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_02]: You couldn't have taken any strain of muscles in there, and that could lead to that too, but that's a lot of speculating and while I do use my degree to kind of take shape or help crack around the negative on what it could be there, I don't know for certain what it is, but I mean, I can't say for certain it's turf toe or anything else
- 46:04[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's talk about key on Coleman because the second week in a row, we see that he's listed on the injury report.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't practice yesterday.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm assuming that they did a walk through type of practice.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, some of the guys were there, but like the guys that are listed, maybe it was, they're keeping them out.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_03]: just to keep him out because this might be something that lingers the whole season.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_03]: What what what what's your thoughts we talked about it when we had you on last week about Kian.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_03]: We saw him in the preseason with a walking boot.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if this is related to that if it's the same thing something aggravated and the reason why I want to ask you if it's an ankle injury because we saw last year with Terrell Bernard.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_03]: with his ankle injury.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: He dealt with that all season.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_03]: And you could tell there was times when he wasn't right.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_03]: Now, linebacker and wide receiver, two different positions, but you're still putting away down at your still pivoting, running around cutting, doing all that stuff.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: What's your thoughts on Kian in this ankle injury?
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: Is this something that it's gonna linger or should we be concerned that maybe he might miss some time?
- 47:02[SPEAKER_03]: If he pushes too hard, what's your thoughts there?
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: There's definitely more complex thoughts on that than some of the other guys we've talked about.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: Last week I said I thought it was 50-50 and I thought he wouldn't play based off what we saw with the two night participates and then the limited practice, something and there's something more going on.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_02]: You shouldn't be that limited coming off a little ankle spreading from what it looked like there.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: It needed rolled up pretty good in the game but it came back immediately and finished.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_02]: But like you said during the preseason, we saw him in the boot.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: This was the same side of the injured at the time against Carolina, he had had a foot
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: slash toe injury there and he was off for I think a week and a half like he came back to practice pretty quickly all things considered so
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is all related, and I think that's probably why we saw Mr. practice again.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is a low ankle.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen plenty of guys do it over the years.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: They may be limited, but they really don't have a lot of performance decline.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: So, is there a chance for this to linger?
- 47:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think it can.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't quite know what's going on with that, because the ankle rolled in, inward, both ways like that.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, when he dig into Carolina, he can't develop over and roll the ankle.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_02]: But this is more foot slash toe.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then this time, he wrote it pretty good, like the traditional logo sprays we see at basketball too, and they called ankle, but I think that's the more going on.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: We could see it linger, and then that final piece with Drop and Art, I don't believe it's that severe or anything like that only because Drop and Art had told us he subluxed the ankle, which is partial to this occasion, and then it just kept on getting loose or loose or loose or there.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: He did have surgery in the off season, which helped shore that up there, but we have seen guys where they have repeated injuries to the ankle, and then it just slowly can't get worse over time.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: Clush occurs another one with off season surgeries.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know that key on Coleman's going that route right now, but you got to wonder if you could pop up the injury report, does this lead to that later on if he gets to reactivated for some reason?
- 48:56[SPEAKER_00]: And the follow-up on K-I'm, we talked about him last week.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you paid special attention to him during the game last week, but how do you look like he was moving there in the game to you?
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I noticed that he wasn't doing a lot, like he's doing the dirty work.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: He's blocking, he didn't get a lot of targets.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think I looked through and he had to get two targets at one point there.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if he gave more than that there.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm sure that they limited his snaps or the,
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: The looks to him so that they didn't have to expose him to more injury.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: He did come up big on that one big play there But I'd have to go back and look to see like when I watch the game I'm looking for the the entirety of the game there I'm not necessarily folks I'm one person and I would think a lot of analysts will look at like that there too And then when you had to look for something you look for defense a line play or wide receiver or whatever you're looking out there So I just I recognize that he wasn't getting a lot of Passes or targets to him but other than that I didn't say that he was really limpin around or anything else more, but
- 49:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he wasn't a huge part of the game plan, and then DJ Moore too, like, obviously read non-contactors yesterday, we saw, and I was talking to Greg before we came on.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, man, DJ Moore looks like he's just getting tackled up high, like, and it was, I know it's a coincidence, but like, I feel bad for the guy.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like he kept getting like headlocks and it looked like one was almost a horse collar.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_03]: if he's playing every week right we know DJ Moore's a tough guy he wants to play he wants to play how serious of an is this something that's going to linger all season can he re aggravate it can he make it worse like we know he's a guy in Greg even said this like he's a guy that wants contact like he's going to put his head down and force contact so what's your thoughts on DJ Moore should we be concerned at the level of contact that he is actually getting playing through this
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: he could make it worse if he takes another really hard hit there or in a different angle that really draws that joint.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: He can't linger, he can't affect them, but they definitely do try to tape it up.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I see a bracing on him, they do try to do the pain-directing shot that they talked about that, yeah, I'm sure you got it, he's gonna continue getting for a while.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_02]: This is gonna linger for a while and I mean,
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: He can make it worse if he takes a real bad shot there, but that's where they want to make sure that can you protect himself?
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: Can he lay in properly, can he get up and catch a ball and do what he needs to do or he can be still limited that they need to shut him down and let this thing scar over and heal a little bit.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: And the body is still trying to heal throughout that time, but then every time he goes takes a shot to it, it doesn't necessarily restart the process, but it definitely makes it more of a crying thing there.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: But that's also why we see him during the Red non-contactures during the week.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: So is that taking that unnecessary hits?
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: So then when he gets out there, he limits his exposures there.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, it can linger, yes, it can get worse.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't typically see the AC joints where it's a,
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: deterioration over time but hopefully he doesn't just doesn't keep taking shots there then maybe by week he gets some extra time and rehab to get this right.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_02]: So he'll probably be on the injured part another few weeks here but I hope it's something where he's going to take a little shot and he's down out for a while.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_00]: And Kyle, we talked last week, Ed Oliver, not on the injury board, which is great news.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about obviously him missing the game against Detroit there.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_00]: And the paraphrase, which he said was like, hey, it's not the spasm.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of want to know what's underlying with the spasm, what that issue is.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: It looked like it was moving around the right last week for the fact he's not on the injury report right now.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: Does that give you any sort of clarification about like, yeah, maybe it's just something that flared up and he's probably good to go or is it something that you're kind of watching for over the next couple of weeks to see if it does or if it has resolved itself.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm leaning toward more of the former.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think that this is just flared up during pre-game.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have time to look at.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_02]: And they just want to make sure you ran through as Rapster, and we can make sure that nothing else flared up again.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: I am still going to kind of watch that.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like if he pops up again with something else to the groin, hip, something else like that.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like you talked about before, he had had something during the preseason, it was undisclosed there.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm leaning toward that, that might be the reason why if they be flared for the first place.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: So it's something kind of in the back of mind, I'm not making a big deal about it, but if it starts creeping up again, then do you start wondering what's the underlying cause?
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: Is there a core muscle injury, which she's had a history of?
- 53:25[SPEAKER_02]: Is there something else going on?
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: Is there something in the hip?
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: Is there something else that's going on there?
- 53:29[SPEAKER_02]: But the fact is not on the end report this week is a good sign, and that might have been isolated insulin,
- 53:38[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Kyle, before we get it, we know we know you got to run here.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: Before we get shot here, it talks to me about everybody's favorite dancing, very defensive tackle, Dion Walker, and he's listed with a quad injuries.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_03]: Or anything that you saw in the game, because that would be a big blow.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, I don't think he's going to be out extended period of time.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_03]: But we definitely need him for what this defense wants to do.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_03]: Is there anything you could tell us about his quad injury?
- 54:00[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I just, we'd know that he was off to the side in the training area or the medical tent.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: He had been checked out, came back to the game.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: It seemed like it was free minor.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't see, at least I didn't go back and look at the alt 22 for him, specifically, where they got hit in the quad.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_02]: or if it was a strain, something else like that there, but you didn't get a good look at during the broadcasts, what exactly happened.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_02]: But this happened, I think in the second quarter, I think it was there.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: So some of the clients that look back a little bit later on, but the fact that he was back at practice, at least doing something they were turning the game, suggests it might have been more of a hit to the area, because I don't think that Bill's
- 54:46[SPEAKER_02]: discrepancy and what it is there.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_02]: So if you just got hit, okay, let's make sure it's like a it sees up on you and get too tight.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: And if it's a versus actual quad strain, then there is some concern.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_02]: But in fact, I believe it's limited yesterday is a good sign versus a do not participate that we'd never like to see.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: And one more thing before you get out of here, Kyle, tell everybody about this awesome website that you have that analyzes all the injuries and the time and all that stuff.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_03]: Tell everybody about that.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_02]: So what you're talking about as partara, it just takes all the last, that 11 years of injury data and it allows you to find the answers you want to instantaneously, whether you want to look at growing injuries over the past 10 years or are there more ankle injuries for the bills this year versus leg average or you want to look at the probability of what a guy is expecting to play with this
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: injury report.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_02]: They love making everybody questionable.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: War of the actual chances guys play in this week here.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: So Spartare is the way to find out those answers and find it quickly.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, going into the ad read here.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: If you play offense football or bat on the NFL, stop guessing when injury means.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_02]: I partner with Spartare to turn years of injury data into analytics you can actually use.

- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: Know the injury, know the history, know the data.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_03]: That's Kyle is banged up bills.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_03]: That's a jam pack 20 minutes, Kyle.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_03]: I know you're super busy, man.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see you next week.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_03]: We've got it done.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_03]: No, that's important.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_03]: That is the important thing.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see you back here next Thursday as always.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's Kyle from Bangalore bills.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_03]: Let me get a go bills, Kyle, before we get out here.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_03]: Go bills.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you very much, guys.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_03]: All right, thanks, Kyle.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_03]: That's Kyle Trimble from Bandopills are weekly Thursday, weekly, I can't speak, are Thursday, weekly, segment.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's been a long week, man, and it's only Thursday.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's already been a long week, so.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a long week, but it's gone fast for me.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: So Dave here, we got Sandra, what's up Sandra?
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for tuning in all the time.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_00]: We got Bill VinaVitch as the ref crew this week.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_00]: So we know for a fact, the Patriots are cheating.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_00]: There will be a horrible pass interference call.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, there will be definitely horrible pass interference calls.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's a Patriots and bills.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's always going to happen.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_00]: This is a matter of what.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not even joking, like, is IGB going to be called for like at least three defensive holdings with this crew.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't get into the whole cruise.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I actually like VinaVitch.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_00]: I've got a funny VinaVitch story.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_00]: Uh-oh.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: So his daughter was my son's teacher in kindergarten first grade, first grade maybe.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_00]: So she's obviously a big football fan.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 57:52[SPEAKER_00]: every Monday, go in the school, I dropped, you know, walk them to the classroom, whatever.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_00]: And we'd have a five minute conversation about the games the week before.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: And he had, I think it was a night time game, Sunday night game, and he had the bills game.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a crew.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I forget the game.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: just an awful, awful, and zone pass interference called the cost of bills, the game.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was late fourth quarter.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_00]: It might have been a fourth down play and just trash.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I go on the next morning and I go, I would say her first name, but I'm like, blah, blah, blah.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, what is your dad doing?
- 58:30[SPEAKER_00]: What's your dad's problem?
- 58:31[SPEAKER_00]: As she kind of puts her hand on her face and she's like, I know Greg, I know.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's funny.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: I had a conversation with somebody online a couple of days ago because I had mentioned something about I think it was Sunday where everybody was arguing over the pat like what is roughing the pastor we talked about it a little bit like about this week about what's roughing the pastor and I was going back and forth with somebody on Twitter and.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_03]: Then they brought up, all it's a Bills fan, of course they complained about the officiating.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_03]: You guys have been doing that for 25 years.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_03]: And then there was a guy, I can't remember his name.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to call him out here and then get it wrong.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_03]: But he was like, there's literally statistical data that shows that the Bills gets screwed more than any team in the NFL and have for the, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I don't think that there's some league wide thing against the Bills.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_03]: And the most inopportune times, there's some shitty call that happens that you're just like, of course, like, and we've been there with the postseason with the bills, right?
- 59:38[SPEAKER_03]: They've changed rules because of what we've seen happen to the bills in the past few years.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, yeah.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody will put the stats out of his the bill's record while he's officiating it and I'm sure I'll see it online later on like the bills are record is XYZ with bill venevitches.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think they actually so I don't get into the whole like officiating crew type thing and like how it skews the game so there's a couple things that like.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think venevitch is I think the bills have a winning record with him.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_00]: like he gets into the rough match up.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I bring down that and he'll text me.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, oh, you guys got, but it's always a Mr. V text, right?
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's always like, oh, you got Mr. V today.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_00]: And he gives me these things.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's kind of two crews I look at with these, the Vinavitch crew, which always, in a happy last week, I think he was the Rams game with those P.I.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_00]: calls, but his crew always gets you a bad pass in her appearance.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_00]: I won't want to see him.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't always have to be against the bills.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_00]: but you'll always get a bad one.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_00]: And then whoever, who do we have?
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_00]: Was it the first week where it was the most, they throw the most flags in the league?
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what, I don't know what that was, but I think it was the opening game.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: And sure enough, it was like, every three plays or is a flag, flag, flag, flag.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it was the most flag team, or the most flag game that entire week.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_00]: So like those are the only two things I really look at when it comes to a refreshing cruise.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, spoiler alert one of my keys to the game for the bills tomorrow is going to be stop holding on offense or stop getting called for holding on offense like the bills shot themselves in the foot so many times on Sunday and it's the charger I mean we can go down the laundry list of the ways the bills offense shut themselves in the foot on Sunday, but we won't
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I wanted to watch the defense, but of course, as I'm going to the quarters, you can't not see Dalton concave running with a loaf of bread down.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, bro, there's three charges on you.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_03]: Just go down.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_03]: The two yards, you don't need to get the extra two yards.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do just go down.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it was so frustrating because that was a momentum shift in the in the game, but I don't want to go down the charges.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_02]: I have PTSD from all the turnovers and then whatnot.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_03]: And Greg, anything
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_03]: probably a pretty packed show.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to do our final bills and Patriots week.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're going to leave you.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to spend one minute of day if talk about sabers here.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, Mattie is saying Houston.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_00]: Good to go.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_00]: Clear's, uh, Clear's protocol.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_00]: So he's good to go.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: So it looks like he'll be playing the night.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we've got young guys to watch.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: We've got new PL.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of lunch.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's like UPR ahead of the signing a couple years ago when they signed them and he just hasn't shown me which Which is like are we gonna get we're gonna get the one who's like holy shit Are we gonna get the one that's like bro?
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_03]: Come on man.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_03]: You can't let that go in you know saying like inconsistent
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I've got that, so give me 50, 50 here.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_00]: Who you more excited to see this season for the Sabers, Osland or Hellenus?
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_03]: Hellenus.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I like what I saw on the postseason.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like he's going to be that guy.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like he's going to be really good.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_03]: We just have to hope these guys stay healthy because they're banking on a lot of these young guys to outperform what Alex Tuck did.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's going to be interesting to see I don't I've been waiting for the the hell of a trade for five months now and four months now and it's I don't know if it's something if the sabers have issues with gold tending at the deadline maybe that's that's a move that happens or he goes to a different team completely because before before I thought well they would have to move a veteran winger and probably one of the young guys now they can't afford to do that.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_03]: they just can't because they're banking so much on Hellenus and Oslin and Kulik and like they're just banking so much on them to for production wise like I don't know who they would be able to trade.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe that's why it hasn't happened.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's the challenge.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's a decent amount of smoke down here about the hurricanes and and hell above.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_00]: So they might be waiting in the wings there.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_00]: I know they tried to form.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_00]: No, they don't like their gully situation right now.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_00]: So it's something they are trying to improve.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll be able to look out for that.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm like you, Dave, I don't know who they trade, right?
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to be the guy that drafted this year and a couple other people, and it's got to be prospects because they've kind of lost their bargaining chip there.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, it's going to be hard to get rid of you, PLA, you've got to know trade, right?
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a limited trade, whatever it is.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's why during the draft,
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_03]: It should have got done because UPL he had no choice at that point because it was before his no trade has no move clause as they're called in hockey, no move clause kicked in and the Sabers didn't want to give up for.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_03]: So, Yarmol didn't want to give up for and if it's up to me, and I'm not saying that the guy that picked that for is not going to be good, but like,
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_03]: give up foreman if you can get hellbuck like I and again we don't know the exact specific there's been rumor names out there that were involved from the savers as far as players and that could be right it could be wrong but this it will be a different outlook to the season right now especially from the fan base who was clamoring for like you lost tuck like you lost Benson like you you know you lost all these guys like what
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_03]: What are we doing?
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see, I think if the young guys, even if two of the three hand out to be slightly above average, I think we're good.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_03]: So it's gonna be fun to watch and we get to see them play tonight.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_03]: And there's football on tonight too.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a double.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_00]: There it is.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_00]: double dummy to TV type of night.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, one more Dave.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_00]: I got you good Saber stock here.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of finished off.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_00]: So this one comes from Chris in the chat.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a quick conversation.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_00]: So we can have it.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not sure we'll fit in any other time.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_00]: At least the short NFL who's going to be sellers.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_00]: So there's normally not a huge seller market.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like that's changing a little bit.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it's three weeks.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm looking through the teams right now.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, well, who are going to be sellers, right?
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got to be looking at really a bottom team or a team that wants the bottom that they're not just not doing it as well.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_00]: Dolphins.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: Theoretically, dolphins, you've got the titans.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you don't have a whole lot of...
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think the titans may be because they probably are still looking
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_03]: They have new coaching staff, right?
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_03]: So they're probably still trying to figure out what's going to work and what's not.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_03]: Again, Cam Ward, you were getting to a point where we're getting to bust status with Cam Ward.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_03]: a couple times a year, he'll look okay and then the rest of the time he looked extremely below average.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_03]: Not saying he'd be moved.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just saying the titans might be looking at their offense and being like, okay, do we need more draft picks?
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_03]: Do we need so we can secure up the offensive line?
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_03]: Do we need more skill position players?
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_03]: Do we need to start stockpiling picks for the future?
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_03]: So that, you know, Salah can get guys in there that he wants, you know, and trying to clean out some of that roster so I can see the titans being.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins, I absolutely expect, if there's anything left on that roster, obviously besides Devon H. and in Malik Willis, they're probably going to try to see if they can move off some contracts.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't even know what they have left if I'm being honest.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think teams are going to want to pick the bones of guys because they claim seven players off of waivers before the season started from other teams.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_03]: So their roster is pretty bad to begin with.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_00]: NFC-wise, I'm trying to think, I mean, I would look at teams that maybe are going to fire their code, so a Tampa Bay because they will probably be out of it and bulls is probably done.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_00]: So that might be, hey, let's get a new coach in here.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get as many draft picks as we can to kind of make that a little more of an interesting job.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's like how we have to see how the rest of from now until then, because you might have teams that aren't typically bad,
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_03]: franchise quarterbacks like
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_03]: the chargers, what if they only won one or two games before the trade deadline and they're sitting at what two and five, two and six, something like that?
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_03]: Or what if they're, what if they haven't won yet?
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_03]: Or same thing with Tampa, like what if they just lose a bunch of games green Bay, what if they lose a bunch of games?
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like, they're paying, all these teams are paying their quarterbacks.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_03]: So like, are they going to try to free up salaries so they can get draft picks to try to figure things out for next year, like, it's going to be interesting because I feel like the bills are probably going to be buyers.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_03]: and depending on this quarter, but this corner back situation, how the young guys play, how long Benford's out for, they may be looking for a guy for there, they may be looking for a linebacker.
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I don't know, it's gonna be interesting.
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_03]: I definitely think that offensive side of the bills are good.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that they'd go after anything offensively, knock on one must there's an injury that happens between now and then.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like what happened with Travis White, and then they went out and they got our soul Douglas.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_03]: And that was a great move by being.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_03]: So.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Cardinals are really the only other team I could see.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't really know what they have.
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_00]: Right, Marvin Harrison Jr., my guess is they look to get rid of him.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what anyone's paying for him outside of maybe is that's that might be a six round pick.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think maybe one of the ones that look at is,
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_00]: uh, Carnal Tate, if things really continue to go south and in Tennessee.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, if there's for me in Dave ball in Sala there, like I'm assuming, Dave ball is going to want the best receiver possible.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_03]: But that's their draft pick.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_03]: So you know, I mean, like they drafted him.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_03]: So that's what I'm saying.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like a lot of these head coaches that are just taking over these rosters that have talent that they didn't
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I think there was a huge conversation about Mike Vrable and Drake May.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's not his quarterback.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's his quarterback now, but it's not the guy that maybe he had conversations with the GM about, because you know for just to kind of, that I'm not comparing Drake May to Josh Allen, but you know that Sean McDermott and Brandon Bean and the scout and department were, they had to have been all joined for Josh Allen.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_03]: They had to have, there's no way
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_03]: You take that big of a gamble and thus we're all like all right, this could be the dude like it's cold here.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_03]: He's got a hell of he's got a hell of an arm You know, I mean, so and now Joe Brady's been here.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_03]: So he's not really inheriting Joshua.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's freaking Josh Allen.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, any head coach.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's a head coach is what you read, but you know, like you look at Tampa or not Tampa.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_03]: You look at Tennessee and
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_03]: didn't want Cam Ward.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he wants he wanted to draft a guy and develop his own guy.
- 1:11:11[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe Dave all wants to develop his own guy.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_03]: Um, because a lot of people are giving Brian Dable shit because of how bad the offense isn't Tennessee.
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_03]: Cam Ward is his quarterback.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like maybe, and I understand like these guys took this head, this head coaching and offensive coordinator job knowing that Cam Ward was their quarterback.
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_03]: But maybe
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_03]: There's a plan to not have came or be your quarterback in two years and maybe there's an like ownership has to be involved with that stuff right like hey what's the process how long's this going to take what do we need to do like to get you the guys that you want and I'm not saying they're going to trade camp order they're going to release them or do whatever but you took the job knowing that that was your quarterback.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_03]: you know I'm saying like it's it's tough it's it's it's a tough situation.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see those conversations go down during the interview because I've got to imagine if I'm going for one of 32 jobs.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_00]: I want the job I don't care like I'll take the the flounder for Anjai as and like I like the challenge to try and turn stuff around so I would take it anyways but I would look it going there would be like
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you know, yeah, I think I can make it work with them.
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_00]: And what I'm going to do is I'll get the best offensive coordinator who can utilize the strengths, and that's going to be Brian Dable, who's, you know, ripped it up with Josh Allen, another young guy who kind of emerged, and like I can sell that.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then I could imagine, like you were gonna know what the ownership feels about that guy.
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, this is the guy we drafted on this, the guy we want, blah, blah, blah, or it's like, hey, this is the guy we drafted.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_00]: We think he's good, but we need you to prove that.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_00]: I could see you going there and be like, hey, I did everything I could, this ain't the dude, right?
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, cut ties.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I've got to believe at some, there's some level there that when you take that job and interview for that job, you're saying, yeah, this is, this is the guy who's here.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is my guy.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ride or die with them.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_00]: And like, I don't know how you take a job knowing that this guy sucks.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_00]: And he's not going to be your guy.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_03]: And maybe they, maybe they didn't think that he was, he was not good.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's the thing, too.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's, and that's why I will, I will get on Brian Dable about that.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_03]: because did you actually think Cam Ward was good?
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_03]: And if you did, and he's not, then like, was it really Josh Allen or was it Brian Dable that launched this offense into the universe, the way I did in 2020?
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_00]: But it would be so much shady and I would get it but it would be shady going in there telling the ownership that I get this is my guy I'm going to surround him with everything and then you're already plotting like hey I know he's going to fail but you're plotting like you're reasoning from day one how I'm going to get rid of this guy you know.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_03]: you also have to pivot though right like if you thought like okay we watched all of his games from last year there was some good things some things we can coach up some things we can figure out and then you go into you know whatever thinking that he's projecting he's going in the upward trajectory and then like things just don't they're just not going there
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_03]: And then you have to pivot right is they're going to get there like there's a big enough sample size on cam word now that it's just he's not good and sure it's his second year, but he's just not good and I don't know what it's going to take if it's going to take like what the bills did for Brian Dave on Josh Allen where they got him.
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_03]: number one receiver.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_03]: They invested a bunch of money in the offensive line.
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if that's going to help him because we can't, again, we can't constantly compare everybody's progression to what Josh did from your two to three because we've never seen anything like that and we probably never will.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be interesting to see, but yeah, it's going to be nice to watch teams that are going to be in cell mode because the bills are going to be probably
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_00]: in buy mode they are they have been every year so at least almost every year so we'll see you know that's that's the other problem the NFL too is like what are you really given up like it's very unless you're getting a stud like you're generally given up like a fourth fifth round pick which is chum change right you're just going to toss those things around so it makes it harder for teams to want to sell unless they know like hey we're just going to cut this guy next to you anyway and just eat the cap which lessons that market a little bit but
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_03]: Who knows, but it's a good question for guard this is it is and we're going to be getting there very soon and obviously we'll be on a trade deadline alert high alert.
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's going to do it for us today.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for everybody that has joined us.
- 1:15:40[SPEAKER_03]: We had some great guests on today.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_03]: We look forward to doing that every week for you guys.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_03]: This has been a packed week tomorrow.
- 1:15:47[SPEAKER_03]: We'll do our final preview of bills and patriots.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_03]: been a packed week already and we're only on Thursday.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_03]: So look forward to being back tomorrow with Greg at 12.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_03]: Anything else correct before you want to take us out of here, Greg?
- 1:16:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man.
