- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, welcome back to College Football Addiction. We are
- 0:03Speaker 1: presented by PrizePix. Talk more about them in a little bit.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Zach Smith, Menace 2 Sports on with us. Ohio state
- 0:08Speaker 1: against Illinois. We were just, just commenting as we got
- 0:11Speaker 1: on Illinois, really screwed this up for being a possible
- 0:14Speaker 1: ranked matchup, right? At least in a matchup of undefeated. Well,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I guess Ohio state lost too, but I'll give them
- 0:19Speaker 1: a little more credit for their loss than losing to
- 0:21Speaker 1: the Duke blue devils. But Ohio state, Illinois, this is
- 0:25Speaker 1: at home for Ohio state. Does Illinois do anything that
- 0:29Speaker 1: kind of gives you any pause at all?
- 0:31Speaker 2: I mean, you know what? They're, they're, they're solid offensively.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I think they're, they're not, They're going to be the
- 0:37Speaker 2: second best offense Ohio State's played, without a doubt. So
- 0:40Speaker 2: it'll give you some. They're kind of that perfect opponent
- 0:42Speaker 2: where they're solid on offense. I'm not going to say
- 0:44Speaker 2: they're good or great, but they're solid. And that's an
- 0:47Speaker 2: opportunity for Ohio State's defense to dominate a good opponent.
- 0:52Speaker 2: You knew they weren't going to dominate Texas for four quarters.
- 0:55Speaker 2: They did for three. But you knew they weren't going
- 0:57Speaker 2: to do it for four. And so you want to see,
- 0:59Speaker 2: all right, can they do it to Illinois, who's like
- 1:01Speaker 2: a notch below a Texas offense, who I am not
- 1:04Speaker 2: super high on either. But I think that's going to
- 1:06Speaker 2: be telling. And Illinois is terrible on defense. So, you know,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you can learn things in these games. Like, can Ohio
- 1:15Speaker 2: State stomp an opponent out when they have a clear advantage?
- 1:18Speaker 2: And that's sometimes been a knock against Ryan Day. I mean,
- 1:21Speaker 2: he always beats the teams he's supposed to beat. But
- 1:23Speaker 2: can you, like, really exploit them? Like, can you really,
- 1:26Speaker 2: with this superior talent, superior performance, can you really dominate
- 1:31Speaker 2: Illinois defense. And that's what I think I'm going to
- 1:34Speaker 2: be looking for. I want them to look like a
- 1:35Speaker 2: Mac defense. I think their offense is better than that.
- 1:38Speaker 2: So it's going to be somewhat of a test for
- 1:39Speaker 2: Matt Patricia and the silver bullets, but you're, you kind
- 1:43Speaker 2: of want to see, all right, Duke beat you by
- 1:46Speaker 2: four points. So that means Ohio state should beat you
- 1:48Speaker 2: by what?
- 1:48Speaker 3: 20.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah. So like, I want to see that. I want
- 1:51Speaker 2: to see you beat them by 20.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Then is there a, and you talk about that, like
- 1:56Speaker 1: finding that matchup that you can exploit.
- 1:59Speaker 3: And going to that over and over again.
- 2:00Speaker 1: As a former coach, how do you, when you're game planning,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and when you're looking at a game that you should
- 2:07Speaker 1: win by quite a bit, how do you balance wanting
- 2:12Speaker 1: to work on something that you know you need to
- 2:15Speaker 1: personally get better at as a team, and how do
- 2:17Speaker 1: you balance going out and just exploiting that matchup over
- 2:21Speaker 1: and over again that's gonna get you to the win? Like,
- 2:24Speaker 1: do you treat, do you treat games sometimes as practice
- 2:28Speaker 1: or is it like take care of things first and
- 2:29Speaker 1: then do that?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Or what do you do there?
- 2:31Speaker 2: I mean, you treat it, you treat it like it
- 2:33Speaker 2: is right. Like if Ohio state, if this game gets
- 2:35Speaker 2: dicey or is even close, it's because Ohio state shot themselves.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So you're, you're, you're really, it's, it's cliche as hell,
- 2:41Speaker 2: but it's true. It's really Ohio state versus Ohio state.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Like if they're going to go out there and they're
- 2:47Speaker 2: going to try to improve the weaknesses in their game,
- 2:49Speaker 2: like their run game has been averaged. They're not explosive
- 2:53Speaker 2: on offense, which is crazy to say out loud considering
- 2:55Speaker 2: their personnel. Defensively, they fell apart against Texas. You want
- 2:59Speaker 2: to see if they can play a full four quarters.
- 3:01Speaker 2: These are all things that no matter who Ohio State
- 3:04Speaker 2: was playing Saturday, unless it was maybe like Indiana, like
- 3:08Speaker 2: for the most part, the questions were going to stay
- 3:11Speaker 2: the same questions, whether it was Illinois, Maryland, USC, like
- 3:16Speaker 2: you should win the game. Now let's see if our
- 3:18Speaker 2: run game can be a little cleaner, a little more efficient.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Let's see if we can make a guy miss in
- 3:22Speaker 2: the second level out of our running back room because
- 3:25Speaker 2: they haven't been able to. I said it on my
- 3:28Speaker 2: show today. It's like they played two MAAC teams. How
- 3:31Speaker 2: are you ranked below 50 in anything? I think they
- 3:37Speaker 2: have three runs over 20 yards all year. How did
- 3:40Speaker 2: they not have three in each MAAC game? Some things
- 3:44Speaker 2: are glaring, and you're like, all right, dude. Like Illinois,
- 3:47Speaker 2: I mean, you should beat Illinois, but Illinois would mop
- 3:49Speaker 2: the floor with Ball State and Kent State. So let's
- 3:51Speaker 2: be for real here. Like you want to see those
- 3:55Speaker 2: things and you want to see them get down in
- 3:56Speaker 2: the low red zone and have a crazy stat. TJ,
- 4:01Speaker 2: Ohio State in the low red zone. They're like six
- 4:04Speaker 2: for seven touchdowns. So you look at it and you're like, oh,
- 4:08Speaker 2: that's pretty good. But it feels awful when you're watching
- 4:11Speaker 2: the games. And I did a deep dive. Their success
- 4:16Speaker 2: rate on first down is 0 for 7. They didn't
- 4:20Speaker 2: get four yards on first down any of the seven
- 4:23Speaker 2: times they went down there. And so you're looking at
- 4:25Speaker 2: it like, dang, like that's why it feels so painful.
- 4:28Speaker 2: We have to get to third or fourth down and
- 4:29Speaker 2: we're on the six yard line. Like we don't just score.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And so you're looking for that to change, right? Maybe
- 4:34Speaker 2: open up the offense a little bit. The other thing
- 4:36Speaker 2: I'm looking for is Ohio State's been a heavy personnel
- 4:39Speaker 2: team to start the year, which they were last year.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I think it's part of the reason it bit them
- 4:42Speaker 2: and they lost both the Big Ten Championship, and the
- 4:44Speaker 2: playoff game against Miami. I want to see them play
- 4:47Speaker 2: more receivers. Put more receivers on the field. Ask the
- 4:49Speaker 2: O-line to one-on-one pass block without having double teams and
- 4:52Speaker 2: seven-man max pass pro. It's Illinois. You should be able
- 4:55Speaker 2: to do that against them. And if you're ever going
- 4:58Speaker 2: to do it against Indiana or in the playoffs, you
- 5:01Speaker 2: certainly need to start doing it now against Illinois.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Coming out of that Texas game, What do you think
- 5:08Speaker 1: led to the second half? I mean, you've talked about it,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I'm sure, but what really led to the second half
- 5:14Speaker 1: issues that Ohio state had?
- 5:16Speaker 2: I mean, so it was, it was like the perfect storm, right?
- 5:19Speaker 2: I think the defense got a little bend. Don't break
- 5:23Speaker 2: early in the fourth quarter, Texas had a 50. So
- 5:26Speaker 2: Ohio state went three and out to end the third quarter.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Texas had got the ball back and they went on
- 5:31Speaker 2: a 15 play drive and scored a touchdown. And I
- 5:33Speaker 2: think Ohio state was a little conservative and, trying to
- 5:35Speaker 2: keep arch in the pocket, not pressure him, do, you know,
- 5:38Speaker 2: do things that, that was working in the first three quarters.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And so, and Texas is good. Like Texas is not bad.
- 5:43Speaker 2: The other thing is Sark made a decision. He said,
- 5:47Speaker 2: all right, I was relying on arch to drive us
- 5:51Speaker 2: down on the field, the first three quarters. And he's,
- 5:53Speaker 2: he's not very good. So in the fourth quarter, All
- 5:56Speaker 2: his throws are going to be little RPOs, short throws.
- 5:58Speaker 2: We're not going to push it down the field. We're
- 6:00Speaker 2: just going to let the run game do it. And
- 6:02Speaker 2: Arch just has to make some singles. We don't need
- 6:04Speaker 2: him to hit a home run. And it paid off
- 6:06Speaker 2: because Ohio State played a little softer, put a little
- 6:09Speaker 2: bit of zone, and Arch was able to complete some passes.
- 6:12Speaker 2: you know, I'll be at RPOs little passes. And so
- 6:14Speaker 2: they got that first drive done. And I do think
- 6:16Speaker 2: the heat played a factor and I'm not an excuse maker,
- 6:19Speaker 2: but you go 15 play drive after a three and out.
- 6:21Speaker 2: So you were just on the field before that three
- 6:23Speaker 2: and out, then you have 15 play drive touchdown. Then
- 6:26Speaker 2: Ohio state immediately goes out and has another three and out.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You're right back on the field in this 120 degree
- 6:31Speaker 2: heat index from Ohio. It's like, damn, I'm gassed. So
- 6:36Speaker 2: I think that played a part in it. And ultimately
- 6:38Speaker 2: you go back and watch the film. Ohio State, I think,
- 6:41Speaker 2: had three different plays on three different drives that if
- 6:44Speaker 2: either Jeremiah catches it or Julian doesn't miss the wide
- 6:48Speaker 2: open touchdown or hangs on Jeremiah too long and doesn't
- 6:51Speaker 2: see a wide open seam for a touchdown. Like, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 2: one of those three plays hitting and the game's over.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And the fact that Ohio State went 0 for 3
- 6:59Speaker 2: on those three critical plays is definitely a credit. I mean,
- 7:04Speaker 2: not even a credit to Texas because they were there
- 7:06Speaker 2: and they were open. It's like Julian just didn't do it.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Lack of execution.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It wasn't like Texas was covering everyone. You're like, dude,
- 7:14Speaker 2: there's a guy wide open about to score a touchdown,
- 7:16Speaker 2: and you threw it to Jeremiah Smith, triple covered. What
- 7:18Speaker 2: are you doing? What are you doing?
- 7:21Speaker 1: I'll get right back to chatting with Zach, but first
- 7:23Speaker 1: I want to give some love to our friends over
- 7:25Speaker 1: at PricePix. All new users there who play a $ 5
- 7:27Speaker 1: lineup and win get $ 150 in lineups instantly if they've

- 7:37Speaker 1: passing touchdowns. Give me the more on Mark Bowman's receiving yards.
- 7:42Speaker 2: 35.5.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I think both go off. I think this is an
- 7:44Speaker 1: offensive game. I think they both have good days. And
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm not picking a winner in this game on here,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but I will pick a couple of winners here on
- 7:51Speaker 1: the PrizePix app. Use the code HMA. Go set a
- 7:54Speaker 1: lineup like this. Get $ 150 instantly if you win and
- 7:57Speaker 1: you're a new user that uses HMA on your first
- 7:59Speaker 1: $ 5 lineup.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Now back to Zach. The first half of that game was,
- 8:06Speaker 3: was Ohio. I'm not trying to piss off the Ohio
- 8:08Speaker 3: state fits.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Was Ohio state somewhat to, I thought, I felt like
- 8:12Speaker 1: Ohio state was playing fine in that first half. I
- 8:16Speaker 1: also don't know that they were playing well enough to
- 8:19Speaker 1: be up by, was it 20 at one point? I
- 8:22Speaker 1: thought that Texas is mistakes, which were. they were mistakes
- 8:26Speaker 1: in Ohio state capitalized. So nothing against the Buckeyes or
- 8:28Speaker 1: from the Buckeyes there, but like the cam Coleman interception
- 8:32Speaker 1: was like the, one of the flukiest plays you ever seen.
- 8:35Speaker 3: The, the, the fumble at the beginning. Good, good strip.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But also like if the guy's leg isn't there, his
- 8:40Speaker 1: knee hits the ground. So like, it was like margins
- 8:43Speaker 1: that Ohio state capitalized on, but also like Texas, just
- 8:46Speaker 1: like completely screwing the pooch in the first half.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah. They definitely got some unlucky bounces. I mean that,
- 8:51Speaker 2: that there's no greater example of an unlucky bounce than
- 8:54Speaker 2: that interception.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I mean, it was worth it by five yards.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, but you could also, and I
- 9:00Speaker 2: know regardless of this, it still is an incredible fluke.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Like arch missed that throw. Like he's wide open and he,
- 9:07Speaker 2: he overthrew it. Cam Coleman tried to make a great play.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And sometimes when you do a little too much, some
- 9:12Speaker 2: fluky shit happens. But I mean, yeah, the, That wasn't
- 9:16Speaker 2: Ohio State doing anything. I guess Jalen McClain caught it
- 9:18Speaker 2: when it was like lobbed up to him from Cam Coleman.
- 9:23Speaker 2: But yeah, I think they controlled the line of scrimmage
- 9:26Speaker 2: on both for three quarters. They definitely controlled the game
- 9:30Speaker 2: and they were doing whatever they wanted. And Texas couldn't
- 9:33Speaker 2: really do anything. But then they got those two turnovers
- 9:36Speaker 2: that were like, OK, this is why it's going to
- 9:37Speaker 2: be like a blowout score. Look out.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Next week against Iowa. Is that a game that worries
- 9:48Speaker 1: you at all, like looking way ahead?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Kinnick Stadium is one of the toughest places to win
- 9:53Speaker 2: for a number of reasons. One, the crowd is passionate.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Their brand of football is is, is usually a road
- 9:59Speaker 2: teams brand, right? Run the football, play great defense, a
- 10:02Speaker 2: lot of play action. That's just who Kirk Ferentz is.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And then, you know, no one else wants to say it,
- 10:08Speaker 2: but when you got to turn and wave, wave to
- 10:10Speaker 2: the hospital and all the kids dying of cancer, it's
- 10:12Speaker 2: like you turn around for the fourth quarter and you're like, well,
- 10:15Speaker 2: this is pretty fucking meaningless. You know what I mean? Like,
- 10:19Speaker 2: It has an emotional effect on you because you realize
- 10:21Speaker 2: it puts it in perspective. We're just playing this dumb game.
- 10:24Speaker 2: These kids are fighting for their lives. No one will
- 10:27Speaker 2: talk about it. That's a home field advantage for them, though. Like,
- 10:31Speaker 2: the wave is awesome for those kids, but it hurts
- 10:34Speaker 2: the road team. Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I don't know how you get up and keep going
- 10:38Speaker 1: on that. I can't even think about that. Like, I'll
- 10:39Speaker 1: turn the channel and stuff.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Like, it is brutal.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And it's like, it's... I mean, it's emotional standing on
- 10:47Speaker 2: the sideline of that stadium. And by the way, we
- 10:48Speaker 2: got our ass kicked by Iowa. They were unranked. We
- 10:51Speaker 2: had just beat Penn state and like a, like epic comeback.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 2: But it did, you look back at the field and
- 10:57Speaker 2: you're like, all right, what are we doing? What down
- 10:59Speaker 2: is it? You just got instant perspective and it's, you gotta,
- 11:03Speaker 2: it takes a mentally strong person to be like, all right,
- 11:06Speaker 2: lock back in. Yeah.
- 11:07Speaker 1: How far under do you like that total with Michigan
- 11:11Speaker 1: and Iowa this week?
- 11:12Speaker 2: I think if they put it at 10, I might
- 11:15Speaker 2: take the under still. I don't know, 6-3 final?
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, 13-9 special coming up real soon with five field
- 11:24Speaker 1: goals in it.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Give me a score for Ohio State-Illinois.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Oh, gosh. I would imagine Illinois is going to be
- 11:31Speaker 2: able to score once maybe, even if it's late. I
- 11:34Speaker 2: think Ohio State honestly should win by 24 points. I mean,
- 11:37Speaker 2: if they open up the offense, and Julian, Julian, after
- 11:40Speaker 2: being the most accurate quarterback in the country last year,
- 11:43Speaker 2: this year, he's missed some throws that is not typical
- 11:47Speaker 2: of his game. So if he can get kind of
- 11:50Speaker 2: his accuracy back, and I think they win, you know, 45-7, 38-7,
- 11:56Speaker 2: something like that, I think they should be able to handle,
- 12:00Speaker 2: I mean, they should absolutely be able to score on Illinois,
- 12:02Speaker 2: and then I'll be interested to see what our D
- 12:04Speaker 2: what Ohio state's defense could do against Illinois offense. Cause
- 12:07Speaker 2: they're at least decent.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Zach Smith minutes to sports. Let's talk a little Nebraska
- 12:13Speaker 3: in Michigan state for just a minute.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Nebraska undefeated so far, you know, this is the first
- 12:17Speaker 1: time I think since 2019, I don't know if that
- 12:19Speaker 1: year is correct that they have gone undefeated in the
- 12:21Speaker 1: non-con and I know that's not big 10 play yet.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I know that they still have a ton of time
- 12:27Speaker 1: to prove things or unproved things, but I will say
- 12:30Speaker 1: they've taken care of business the way that they need
- 12:32Speaker 1: to largely.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 3: And so credit for that. It does start to get
- 12:36Speaker 3: a lot more serious.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Now, Michigan state last week against Notre Dame, like, you know,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I don't think anybody predicted that that game would be
- 12:43Speaker 1: as close as it was just thoughts on Nebraska, seeing
- 12:46Speaker 1: them and maybe just big picture on Calandria and all
- 12:49Speaker 1: those things.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I, I don't, I just don't know
- 12:51Speaker 2: what Nebraska is. I'd say, I'd say shout out to
- 12:53Speaker 2: their ad for scheduling a three and O start because
- 12:57Speaker 2: you talk about Ohio university, Bowling Green, North Dakota, like what? That's,
- 13:02Speaker 2: That's the way to do it. That's the Penn State
- 13:04Speaker 2: method right there. Cignetti, too. Yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Like Cignetti said, I ain't doing it, man.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah. And, like, kudos to you guys. You're all 3-0.
- 13:12Speaker 2: You know what I mean? You're Ohio State. We scheduled Texas. Like,
- 13:15Speaker 2: for what? Why did we do that? Now I'm glad
- 13:17Speaker 2: we did. But I don't know what Nebraska is. I
- 13:21Speaker 2: was definitely surprised, though. Michigan State getting Pat Fitzgerald. Like,
- 13:24Speaker 2: you knew that was going to be a turnaround. You
- 13:25Speaker 2: knew they were going to be well-coached. And ultimately, we've
- 13:28Speaker 2: never seen Pat Fitzgerald with even decent talent. So what's
- 13:32Speaker 2: that going to look like? And Notre Dame, I think,
- 13:34Speaker 2: is one of the best teams in the country. And
- 13:35Speaker 2: keeping that a game, it means something. So I don't
- 13:39Speaker 2: know what Nebraska is. Matt Rule's my boy, so I'm
- 13:41Speaker 2: going to pick Nebraska. But I would not be surprised
- 13:43Speaker 2: if Michigan State wins this game. I mean, you just
- 13:46Speaker 2: gave Pat Fitzgerald like Northwestern on steroids.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I know it's hard to evaluate. Are you a Calandria believer?
- 13:55Speaker 3: Cause he does look, he looks pretty good.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Doesn't he? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I, I like him.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I like what I've seen so far. I guess I
- 14:02Speaker 2: don't know if I'm a believer. I'm a hoper.
- 14:06Speaker 1: He's a dude, you know, um, big picture, some of
- 14:12Speaker 1: the other games going on. And then we'll go back
- 14:13Speaker 1: to that one in a minute, Tennessee, Texas.
- 14:17Speaker 2: That's, That's the one. I think Texas is the most
- 14:19Speaker 2: overrated team in the country, and I know they just
- 14:20Speaker 2: beat Ohio State, but it's not even because of that
- 14:24Speaker 2: game that I think that. I've done probably... 10 breakdowns
- 14:29Speaker 2: of arch Manning. And he's the most overrated quarterback I've
- 14:32Speaker 2: ever seen. Like the way they glaze him is amazing.
- 14:35Speaker 2: When he doesn't make great, he doesn't make like big
- 14:38Speaker 2: time throws. He's wildly inconsistent and inaccurate.
- 14:42Speaker 3: The ball so much, man. And he gives you the
- 14:45Speaker 3: ball to cam Coleman. Right.
- 14:47Speaker 2: And he gives you five plays a game where you're like,
- 14:50Speaker 2: just like, I'm watching the film. Like what's he doing? Like,
- 14:54Speaker 2: it's just like, he forgot the playbook for a play
- 14:58Speaker 2: or like, He didn't see a defender that's right there.
- 15:01Speaker 2: It's just wild. So I like, I also, who knows
- 15:04Speaker 2: what Tennessee is. I mean, I like that. I get
- 15:09Speaker 2: his name mixed up because he has a face on Brandon,
- 15:12Speaker 2: but it should be Brandon phase on. It's backwards every time.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I think he's looked good for a freshman, obviously pretty untested,
- 15:19Speaker 2: but at home in, in Rocky top, I think Texas is,
- 15:23Speaker 2: you know, riding the high. of being the number one
- 15:25Speaker 2: team in the country. And I think, I think Texas
- 15:27Speaker 2: might take an L to Tennessee. I that's, that's my
- 15:30Speaker 2: bold take this week is I think Tennessee gets them. Dude.
- 15:32Speaker 3: I was asked on Monday and I picked Tennessee and
- 15:35Speaker 3: I'm riding with it, man.
- 15:36Speaker 1: If I'm, if I'm wrong, I'm going out with the ship,
- 15:37Speaker 1: but I think Texas is probably still the better team,
- 15:41Speaker 1: but I I'm, I'm taking Tennessee at home.
- 15:43Speaker 3: We'll see if I'm an idiot or not.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Do you know, has Texas ever went to Tennessee?
- 15:49Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Because I feel like Tennessee fans are going to be
- 15:53Speaker 2: juiced up for this one. Not only are they the
- 15:55Speaker 2: number one team in the country, but it's like Texas,
- 15:58Speaker 2: the horns are coming to town.
- 16:00Speaker 1: So they've played three times. Tennessee has played them once
- 16:04Speaker 1: in Neyland Stadium. It was in 1952.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Oh, jeez. So no. Actually.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It says Dallas, Texas, though, but it says home is
- 16:15Speaker 1: the location. Maybe they played out there. Oh, it was
- 16:17Speaker 1: January 1st, so it had to be a bowl game. So, yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 1: they haven't played.
- 16:21Speaker 3: But I guess they were the designated home team in, again,
- 16:24Speaker 3: the 50s.
- 16:25Speaker 2: You know how that is. When your school or your–
- 16:30Speaker 2: like Florida State for you, when they randomly schedule Alabama,
- 16:33Speaker 2: you're like, oh, man. Yeah. Like the crimson tides come
- 16:37Speaker 2: into Tallahassee.
- 16:38Speaker 1: That's never, that never happens. It's like, it's a different
- 16:40Speaker 1: level of juice. Yeah, no, it's, it's going to be
- 16:43Speaker 1: a fun one. I'll tell you where else it'd be
- 16:44Speaker 1: fun in Gainesville. Oh, Florida's offense, man. Like I hate
- 16:48Speaker 1: to get, I hate it.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I was going to say, how are you going to
- 16:52Speaker 2: go with this one?
- 16:53Speaker 1: But listen, but how can you not like, I mean,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I didn't like it when it was against my team,
- 16:56Speaker 1: but how can you not like watch Jaden ball around
- 16:57Speaker 1: the ball or Jaden.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Boss run the ball?
- 16:59Speaker 2: He's so good.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Gosh, he's hard to like Rudy.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And how do they like, Georgia techs backup is kind
- 17:08Speaker 2: of hooping. Like what, who would have predicted that they
- 17:10Speaker 2: had a quarterback last year, Haynes King that couldn't throw
- 17:13Speaker 2: a pass. Yeah. And this kid was sitting behind him
- 17:15Speaker 2: and he's out here just hooping for the Gators.
- 17:18Speaker 1: He's not been, I thought if they could just get
- 17:20Speaker 1: him to be a good game manager, they'd be really
- 17:22Speaker 1: good this year.
- 17:22Speaker 3: He's not, he's been more than that. He's been a lot.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Yes. There's no doubt yet.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Vernell Brown, all those guys that said, if it's not Jeremiah, it's,
- 17:30Speaker 1: it might be the quarterback of the other team. That's
- 17:32Speaker 1: the best player in college football right now. Can, can
- 17:35Speaker 1: he do enough by himself to beat Florida?
- 17:37Speaker 2: He did it. He did enough by himself to beat LSU.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Cause they couldn't do shit. They couldn't run the ball.
- 17:41Speaker 2: They couldn't do it. It was just Trinidad took over.
- 17:43Speaker 3: It's the only team that might get better.
- 17:45Speaker 2: One dimensional.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Literally.
- 17:47Speaker 2: It's like, dude, don't stop the run against Ole Miss.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Cause then Trinidad is just.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Going to take over. Let him, let it run.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Let him run it a little bit.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Maybe they'll run to the second level.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't, How Vegas has them as a five-and-a-half-point
- 18:01Speaker 2: underdog is, after what I watched on Saturday, just dismantling LSU.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Not dismantling, but, I mean, dominating them. Offensively, they dominated LSU.
- 18:11Speaker 2: And I don't know what Florida is on defense. I
- 18:15Speaker 2: think Florida's offense is really fun. You mentioned Jaden Ball, Philo,
- 18:19Speaker 2: Vernell Brown. Junior, they got some dudes on offense. I
- 18:23Speaker 2: don't know what Florida is on defense. That's what I'll
- 18:25Speaker 2: be most curious to see. And if there's a team
- 18:26Speaker 2: to find out against, it's this one, right? If it's
- 18:31Speaker 2: just a close game and they can provide problems to
- 18:35Speaker 2: Trinidad Chambliss in that offense, you say, all right, Florida's
- 18:38Speaker 2: got a chance to be pretty damn good.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Yeah, they play Missouri and South Carolina next.
- 18:42Speaker 1: So if you go out and lose by three to
- 18:44Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss, a top three team, top four team, I
- 18:46Speaker 1: think Ole Miss should be one or two.
- 18:48Speaker 3: But, you know, go out and lose.
- 18:50Speaker 1: But then you're 5-1 and your only loss is to
- 18:53Speaker 1: maybe the number one team in the country if Tennessee
- 18:54Speaker 1: does what they need to do. Like, I think that's
- 18:56Speaker 1: a pretty good team. So, hopefully not. Go turn around. Yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 2: You'd be so sick if Florida's back and Miami's good.
- 19:05Speaker 2: At the same time, bro.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And your team's at the lowest of lows. Yeah.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Send prayers.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I just need a new coach to tell myself some lies.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Do you have a pick in this one? Do you
- 19:15Speaker 1: think Nebraska can get it done?
- 19:18Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, I, I, this is kind of a
- 19:21Speaker 2: battle of, of two teams that might not, we might
- 19:26Speaker 2: not know who they are. And, and I, I'm going
- 19:28Speaker 2: to go with Nebraska just because I know Matt rule.
- 19:31Speaker 2: I've known him for, Oh God, two decades. And he's
- 19:34Speaker 2: a really good football coach. And this offense is, For
- 19:37Speaker 2: the first time since Dylan Rayola's fat ass left town,
- 19:41Speaker 2: looks like it's actually cohesive. It's moving. And I know
- 19:46Speaker 2: they haven't played anyone, but just the operation on offense.
- 19:50Speaker 2: feels better now that Rayola is gone and I I
- 19:53Speaker 2: said it before the year and I was joking because
- 19:55Speaker 2: I didn't know who their quarterback was going to be
- 19:57Speaker 2: or anything about them but I was like watch Nebraska
- 19:59Speaker 2: be better without five-star all everything Dylan Rayola like and
- 20:03Speaker 2: they right now they look like they probably are.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah No, I I've liked Calandria. I like rule a lot.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I think he's a really good, not, not Matt, but
- 20:10Speaker 1: they're running back.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Um, I think he's really good.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Um, I'm very intrigued to see what that defense looks like. I'm,
- 20:17Speaker 1: you know, against somebody with an actual pulse because they've
- 20:20Speaker 1: looked fine so far. But again, it's so hard to evaluate.
- 20:24Speaker 1: You even talked about this with Tennessee and Faison Brandon.
- 20:26Speaker 1: At least Faison, and I know Georgia Tech stinks right now,
- 20:29Speaker 1: but at least Faison went into a hostile road crowd
- 20:32Speaker 1: in Atlanta and didn't flinch.
- 20:34Speaker 3: And so I don't think Georgia Tech's very good. I
- 20:37Speaker 3: know that you're better.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Than whoever the Big Ten team of the week is
- 20:40Speaker 1: playing this week, Bowling Green and Western Kentucky and Howard
- 20:43Speaker 1: and all these other schools. So yeah, that's my question
- 20:48Speaker 1: on Klandreau.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I think Klandreau will be fine, though. I just want
- 20:50Speaker 3: to know what this defense will be.
- 20:52Speaker 2: For them.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Um, so we'll see what do you guys got coming
- 20:57Speaker 1: this week? I know you've done a ton of film breakdown.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Is all that out. Is it coming out? And then
- 21:00Speaker 3: talk to me about, um, what you got going.
- 21:02Speaker 2: On the website. She texted me. We were doing so
- 21:05Speaker 2: much right now, trying to evolve. AI's ruined everyone's life,
- 21:08Speaker 2: but also made it amazing. I think, um, we have a, we're,
- 21:12Speaker 2: we have an app coming out in the next month
- 21:14Speaker 2: or two, which I'm pretty pumped about, but, um, yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 2: film break guys. I gotta, I haven't done Ole Miss, uh,
- 21:18Speaker 2: LSU yet. I'm doing that right after we get done recording.
- 21:21Speaker 2: So I'm pumped. to break down Trinidad and watch Lane
- 21:24Speaker 2: Kiffin's Tears. But the film breakdowns, the biggest thing we're doing.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I mean, obviously we do a show every day at noon,
- 21:31Speaker 2: but the film breakdowns are what I think any college
- 21:34Speaker 2: football fan would want to check out. Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Go check out Menace to Sports. Advanced analytics and stuff coming.
- 21:42Speaker 1: A ton of stuff that you sent me this week
- 21:44Speaker 1: that people can go check out there as well. That's
- 21:46Speaker 1: being built out as well that I think people will
- 21:48Speaker 1: really enjoy.
- 21:49Speaker 2: The advanced analytics are pretty cool. I went through and
- 21:52Speaker 2: I talked to this summer, maybe five good friends of
- 21:55Speaker 2: mine in college football, and just was talking about like
- 21:57Speaker 2: what analytics coaches actually use and look at. And so
- 22:00Speaker 2: we're trying to build it because I hate PFF, although
- 22:02Speaker 2: it's better than most things out there. Sites like CFB
- 22:06Speaker 2: stats are like, all right, they just, just a list
- 22:08Speaker 2: of receiving totals.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Like, you know, I want some, we aggregated everybody's sports.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Thank you for doing that. You did a bunch
- 22:16Speaker 2: of addition. We appreciate it. So I'm, we're building out
- 22:20Speaker 2: a coach analytics where it's going to be kind of
- 22:22Speaker 2: from the mind of a coach. Like you can look
- 22:24Speaker 2: up like the stat I threw out, like Ohio state
- 22:26Speaker 2: is over six success, like 0% success rate on first
- 22:29Speaker 2: down in the low red zone. And that's why it's
- 22:30Speaker 2: been a struggle. Like you can find that information. So
- 22:33Speaker 2: it's going to be cool. I'm pumped for it.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Appreciate you, Zach, for hanging out. We'll talk to you soon, bud.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Definitely. Sounds good.
