- 0:32Speaker 4: Jeff Legwald has always brought to you by the International
- 0:34Speaker 4: Brotherhood of Electrical Workers ib W Local sixty eight. Start
- 0:38Speaker 4: with a job and with a career. And we talked
- 0:40Speaker 4: to him on the ramos Law Hotline car accident. You

- 0:46Speaker 4: All right, our man, Jeff Legwald Reada's work at ESPN.
- 0:50Speaker 4: He always has something spicy to put up there for
- 0:52Speaker 4: you know, he's cranking away on draft stuff.
- 0:55Speaker 1: But its owners meetings time.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Jeff I was telling Spring how I will always remember
- 1:00Speaker 4: these Spring owners meetings where where josh Nish Daniels had
- 1:03Speaker 4: to hold up the ugly brown cutler jersey and no
- 1:07Speaker 4: we're not getting rid of him, or I guess it
- 1:09Speaker 4: was yellow with the brown number, and then I think
- 1:11Speaker 4: it was a week later that he was actually he
- 1:14Speaker 4: was actually off and traded to the Bears. But from
- 1:17Speaker 4: all the things we heard today, out of all George Peyton,
- 1:21Speaker 4: Sean Peyton, Greg Penner, Demani Leech, what caught your eye
- 1:25Speaker 4: or what caught your ear first, I should.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Say, well, I mean, I don't think there are any surprises.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I think it's pretty well known. You know, the Broncos
- 1:34Speaker 5: believe you know, they're among the front runners to play
- 1:38Speaker 5: one of the International Games coming up. But you know,
- 1:42Speaker 5: it was a little bit newsy to hear that they
- 1:45Speaker 5: preferred Berlin if they get one of those. But again,
- 1:50Speaker 5: I had always been told Berlin in London were the
- 1:53Speaker 5: top two on their lists, and I think at some
- 1:56Speaker 5: point that the team's hierarchy, you would like him to
- 1:58Speaker 5: play in Latin America as well. But I think the
- 2:02Speaker 5: International Games has been something that's been on the front
- 2:07Speaker 5: burner here for this season, since almost since last season ended.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I've I've heard so many things so that you know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think they offered a stadium update. I don't. I
- 2:17Speaker 1: don't think there are many surprises there.
- 2:19Speaker 5: I think internally they'd like a downtown location to work out.
- 2:24Speaker 5: But they want room to develop around the stadium, which
- 2:27Speaker 5: is not a shock. And I think they're willing to
- 2:30Speaker 5: entertain the roof idea, which ultimately, you know, Pat Bowlan's
- 2:36Speaker 5: dream of a of a Denver super Bowl would be
- 2:39Speaker 5: possible if they did build a stadium with a with
- 2:43Speaker 5: a retractable roof on it.
- 2:46Speaker 3: But Leakie, do you want a roof? Would it make
- 2:49Speaker 3: your in game experience more enjoyable? I like the snow,
- 2:52Speaker 3: but I like it more on TV your old school
- 2:55Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 2:57Speaker 1: You know?
- 2:57Speaker 5: I I think ultimately it's what you want out of it.
- 3:02Speaker 5: You know, if you want the home field advantage to
- 3:04Speaker 5: be only altitude, you know, then that's and noise inside
- 3:11Speaker 5: is pretty good. But again, if you don't want the
- 3:14Speaker 5: Denver experience, how much has that been worth through the years?
- 3:19Speaker 1: You know? For the Broncos, they for a long.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Time they had the best home record you know of anyone,
- 3:25Speaker 5: especially during Mike Mike Shanahan's years, so and even Dan
- 3:29Speaker 5: Reeves's time.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So, I you know, I think that's just the consideration.
- 3:35Speaker 5: But I think, you know, fans, media or whatever, I
- 3:38Speaker 5: think stadiums now. I think ownership leads to the business
- 3:42Speaker 5: side of the equation, and if they really thought they
- 3:46Speaker 5: had enough hotel rooms here in Denver to get a
- 3:50Speaker 5: Super Bowl, I think that would weigh heavily in the
- 3:53Speaker 5: in the.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Decision at some point because usually.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Teams with the status of the Broncos in the league,
- 4:02Speaker 5: if you built the stadium that that could possibly do it,
- 4:05Speaker 5: you would be in the running, you know, for that.
- 4:08Speaker 5: They so much so when New York built its new stadium,
- 4:11Speaker 5: they held the super Bowl outside, as we know, because
- 4:14Speaker 5: that didn't go great for the Broncos that year, but
- 4:17Speaker 5: it was a very rare occurrence and they were one
- 4:19Speaker 5: day away from a blizzard.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Super Bowl.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I would have you and I were both there.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I am curious if Sean Payton, like will he influenced
- 4:28Speaker 4: the desire to have a roof too, because I mean,
- 4:30Speaker 4: let's just call it what it is. Shawn's a good coach.
- 4:32Speaker 4: He's also built his career playing in a dome. He
- 4:35Speaker 4: built his super offense with the Saints playing in a dome.
- 4:38Speaker 4: I'm sure he wouldn't be angry if they put a
- 4:40Speaker 4: roof on the place.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Well, if you're given his past history, I mean, they
- 4:46Speaker 5: his whole tenure in New Orleans.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They played between eight and eleven indoor.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Games, you know, every season, so that that can impact
- 4:54Speaker 5: that what you can do on offense a lot of
- 4:56Speaker 5: the time. Especially you know here, you as we we
- 5:00Speaker 5: all know living here, you never you never know what
- 5:02Speaker 5: you're gonna get. You might get seventy five and beautiful,
- 5:04Speaker 5: and you might get you know, snow on Mother's days.
- 5:08Speaker 1: So I mean, you just don't know. But uh yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I don't think you would be opposed to that.
- 5:13Speaker 5: But I I've you know, I always hesitate when people
- 5:16Speaker 5: ask me about the stadium.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I don't think this is like on their immediate front burner.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I think they see this as a very slow walking
- 5:26Speaker 5: decision that they want to be the right one for decades,
- 5:30Speaker 5: not just a few years.
- 5:32Speaker 4: All right, I've got to ask you, because you've told
- 5:35Speaker 4: me about the intense competitive nature of Greg Penner. In private,
- 5:41Speaker 4: he had the great, the blanket statement of none of
- 5:43Speaker 4: us are satisfied. We're all gonna keep grinding, and we're
- 5:45Speaker 4: all we all got to be better. We got a
- 5:47Speaker 4: lot to do. Did we get our little look at
- 5:50Speaker 4: intense competitive businessman Greg Penner up at the podium, just
- 5:53Speaker 4: maybe by by accident, by happenstance today.
- 5:58Speaker 5: Yeah, they could have spent several billion dollars on a
- 6:01Speaker 5: lot of things, Andy, but they chose the Broncos to
- 6:04Speaker 5: buy and they didn't do that because there was no
- 6:10Speaker 5: competition in that equation. Yeah, I have no doubt that
- 6:14Speaker 5: they They want to be at the top of the wrung.
- 6:19Speaker 5: And you have to be at the top of the
- 6:21Speaker 5: rung in the AFC West first, and then the AFC
- 6:25Speaker 5: and then the league. So you know, they haven't achieved
- 6:28Speaker 5: any of those goals yet, and I think he definitely
- 6:33Speaker 5: has everyone in the building on notice that his goals aren't. Hey,
- 6:39Speaker 5: they went to the playoffs, isn't that cool? You know,
- 6:42Speaker 5: he wants to be the best team in the division,
- 6:44Speaker 5: and then he wants to be the best team in
- 6:46Speaker 5: the AFC, and then he wants to play for Super Bowls.
- 6:49Speaker 5: So I think that's I think that's no question, and
- 6:53Speaker 5: I think everybody knows that. I think the other thing
- 6:55Speaker 5: that always think about, Yes, they're the richest owner ship
- 7:00Speaker 5: group in the league by a long shot, but they're
- 7:04Speaker 5: like everybody. They want return on their investment and they
- 7:08Speaker 5: spend a lot of money on scouting, on staff. I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 5: they're they're bigger in the administrative side than most teams
- 7:16Speaker 5: in the league. They invest, they spend, and eventually they're
- 7:21Speaker 5: going to want some return on that football investment.
- 7:25Speaker 3: On a similar note, Sean Payton mentioned today how free
- 7:29Speaker 3: agents want to come to Denver right now. They want
- 7:33Speaker 3: to live in Denver. So, you know, it's obviously a
- 7:38Speaker 3: rich football city. It's one of the city. You know,
- 7:40Speaker 3: Peyton Manning still wants to live here, right but not
- 7:43Speaker 3: just the city. But you talk about ownership and now
- 7:45Speaker 3: Sean Payton and his fingerprints all over the organization. How
- 7:50Speaker 3: does the NFL where what's the Broncos standing in the
- 7:53Speaker 3: NFL right now?
- 7:54Speaker 5: Jeff, It's always been good, even when the football wasn't
- 7:58Speaker 5: going well.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I mean, you know, even in.
- 8:00Speaker 5: The the down football years, this has always been considered,
- 8:06Speaker 5: you know, one of the landmark franchises. I mean, the
- 8:08Speaker 5: list of teams that have been to eight Super Bowls
- 8:12Speaker 5: is a very short one, you know, and that's that's
- 8:14Speaker 5: what gets people attention. Uh, cash always gets people's attention.
- 8:20Speaker 5: In the in the capitalistic world of free agency and
- 8:24Speaker 5: hiring coaches and all of those things.
- 8:26Speaker 1: The Broncos have more cash than anybody.
- 8:28Speaker 5: It's a fact, but also the just the history of
- 8:34Speaker 5: the franchise. You know, they've played in enough Super Bowls
- 8:37Speaker 5: where people think you're going to have a shot to
- 8:40Speaker 5: be in that at some point, you know, if you
- 8:42Speaker 5: have a good career here and for a time, you
- 8:46Speaker 5: know after the Peyton Manning years, you know, players players
- 8:50Speaker 5: want to see, especially free agents, want to have a
- 8:54Speaker 5: chance if they haven't won previously, they want to go
- 8:57Speaker 5: somewhere to where they can and that all.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Ultimately is what helps you the most.
- 9:01Speaker 5: If you're a perennial playoff team, you have a better
- 9:05Speaker 5: shot in free agency than a lot of other people.
- 9:08Speaker 4: How big is the Pro Day going to be coming
- 9:10Speaker 4: up on Friday up at CEU that you will attend?
- 9:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the assumption is is they're going to
- 9:17Speaker 5: get to see at least some of you know, everybody
- 9:21Speaker 5: they want to see. You know, I just talked to
- 9:24Speaker 5: a quarterback coach today and a couple of scouts, and
- 9:27Speaker 5: the assumption is that you do is going to throw
- 9:29Speaker 5: and Travis Hunter will do you know some things? Will
- 9:33Speaker 5: we run the forty and do all the position drills.
- 9:36Speaker 5: I don't think we know that yet, but I think
- 9:38Speaker 5: the assumption is they're going to get to see a
- 9:40Speaker 5: lot of what they want to see. And I think
- 9:43Speaker 5: the other thing that's cool about pro days is whenever
- 9:46Speaker 5: you have a marquee player two, that gives a lot
- 9:49Speaker 5: of the other guys at the pro day a chance
- 9:52Speaker 5: to shine with an awful lot of people in attendance.
- 9:55Speaker 5: So Shaduur and Travis Hunter will help all of those
- 10:00Speaker 5: They're hopeful because they'll have more eyes on them than
- 10:04Speaker 5: they would at a Pro Day without Shador and Travis Hunter.
- 10:08Speaker 4: All right, So let me follow up real quick then,
- 10:10Speaker 4: because look, I like the kid. I don't know if
- 10:13Speaker 4: he has an NFL body, but is there any place
- 10:16Speaker 4: in the NFL for Lejonte Western. He's slight, but he's fast,
- 10:20Speaker 4: and I saw him make a lot of big catches
- 10:23Speaker 4: and kind of answer the bell at times? Is it
- 10:25Speaker 4: is it? Just?
- 10:25Speaker 1: What's his story?
- 10:26Speaker 4: What's his projection?
- 10:27Speaker 1: If any?
- 10:29Speaker 5: You know, he just needs a position coach or two
- 10:32Speaker 5: to fight for him, and he you know, on on
- 10:35Speaker 5: the draft weekend. You know, I don't I don't think
- 10:37Speaker 5: he's as slight as as Tess Johnson of Oregon, you know, say,
- 10:41Speaker 5: but again that's you know, I think receiver is a
- 10:46Speaker 5: is a place in the NFL where the body types
- 10:49Speaker 5: have the biggest range. You know, some teams prefer the
- 10:54Speaker 5: big guys, and some teams want the quicker, quick hit receiver.
- 10:59Speaker 5: So I I think he'll he'll be in somebody's camp.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I can't imagine he wouldn't be in somebody's camp, but
- 11:06Speaker 5: I think he could be a Day three selection if
- 11:10Speaker 5: he gets the right supporter, you know, or two in
- 11:12Speaker 5: the buildings.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Leggy, what do you think the likelihood is that the
- 11:16Speaker 3: Broncos trade back from twenty? Andy and I were talking
- 11:19Speaker 3: about this before you came on. I mean there's depth everywhere.
- 11:23Speaker 3: The two local tight ends Ferguson in Helm, you guys
- 11:26Speaker 3: at ESPN have him ranked fifth and sixth. I mean
- 11:28Speaker 3: that's a deep tight end group. We talked about the
- 11:31Speaker 3: depth at running back, you know, you mentioned talking about
- 11:34Speaker 3: le John Tae Western, Jimmy Horn. There could be depth there,
- 11:38Speaker 3: Tory Horton at a CSU coming off the injury. You
- 11:42Speaker 3: mentioned Tes Johnson. I mean, these guys at receiver are
- 11:45Speaker 3: ranked you know, sixteen in below. There's depth everywhere. Leggy,
- 11:48Speaker 3: how likely that the Broncos trade back from twenty?
- 11:52Speaker 5: I think it's mostly spring where their board is when
- 11:54Speaker 5: the pick's approaching. This year, there are fewer first round
- 11:59Speaker 5: grades on the board then maybe in the last decade.
- 12:03Speaker 5: At any point I've sat on this station that I
- 12:07Speaker 5: know of several teams that have fourteen or fifteen first
- 12:11Speaker 5: round grades. So when you pick twenty, if you've still
- 12:16Speaker 5: got a player, you have a player or two depending
- 12:19Speaker 5: on the first round went with a first round grade,
- 12:22Speaker 5: you're gonna stay put.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You're gonna take that player. If they start.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Looking to move out, that is a good indication that
- 12:30Speaker 5: every guy on their board with a first round grade
- 12:32Speaker 5: has already has already been selected.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So I think they only move.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Down if they get an offer they simply can't refuse,
- 12:42Speaker 5: or there are just no more first round grades on
- 12:45Speaker 5: the board.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That they think is worth the twentieth pick.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Ky Man, we always appreciate it. We'll see what the
- 12:53Speaker 4: weather does to us coming up on Friday, so hopefully
- 12:55Speaker 4: everybody gets up there and it's all clean.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But our buddy Chris Pianki's.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Been warning it get very interesting come Friday with whatever
- 13:02Speaker 4: this snow may be. But regardless, we'll get your thoughts
- 13:04Speaker 4: on Pro Day Friday after it's happened up at CU
- 13:07Speaker 4: and I don't know. I guess we'll just see kind
- 13:10Speaker 4: of the quiet time of year right till we get
- 13:12Speaker 4: to the draft as these pro days wrap ups.
- 13:14Speaker 5: So yeah, most teams are hunkering down Andy. This week
- 13:18Speaker 5: is really the start of every team, including the Broncos.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Every team starts bringing everybody in scouts, everybody for the
- 13:26Speaker 5: for the big draft.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Meetings, stacking the board and all that. So yeah, all right,
- 13:30Speaker 4: he's Jeff Lagwald. We'll have his top one hundred and
- 13:33Speaker 4: I don't know what about three weeks time here or so,
- 13:35Speaker 4: so get ready for that. He rolls his eyes. Jeff,
- 13:38Speaker 4: we'll talk to you later.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Thanks BAVOUTH.
- 13:41Speaker 4: That is Jeff Lagwald. Always brought to you by the
- 13:43Speaker 4: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBW Local sixty eight. Start
- 13:47Speaker 4: with a job and with the career.
