Latest / Wicked and Grim: A True Crime Podcast / Survival Story of Lisa McVey - Part 1
Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: To start today's case, I've selected a quote from the
- 0:11Speaker 1: individual who was both a victim and a survivor in
- 0:15Speaker 1: this story. I was being sexually abused at home. My
- 0:20Speaker 1: grandmother's boyfriend used to put a gun to my head
- 0:22Speaker 1: every time he molested me. For three years, it was
- 0:26Speaker 1: nothing new to me. One bad situation got me to
- 0:29Speaker 1: another bad situation is what saved my life, because the
- 0:34Speaker 1: night before I'm doing my suicide note, and the next
- 0:38Speaker 1: night I'm fighting for my life. This is the story
- 0:44Speaker 1: of Lisa McVeigh.
- 0:47Speaker 2: My name's Ben and I'm Nicole, and you're listening to
- 0:51Speaker 2: Wicked and Grim.
- 0:52Speaker 1: A true crime podcast. The following podcast content and material
- 1:00Speaker 1: more mature audience listener. It's a survivor's story. It's been
- 1:27Speaker 1: a little while to be had a survivor story, I think,
- 1:29Speaker 1: hasn't it I'm not even.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Sure they should be often though.
- 1:33Speaker 1: They should be, although I mean, it's super unfortunate to
- 1:37Speaker 1: say that many of these crime cases people tend to
- 1:42Speaker 1: not get away with their lives, which super sucks. But
- 1:46Speaker 1: when it does happen, I mean it makes my heart
- 1:49Speaker 1: just like super happy.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Though they still went through some shit, they get drugged
- 1:54Speaker 2: through absolute hell.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Genda and it's no different in today's case too. Lisa.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I mean, as you can tell from the quote at
- 2:01Speaker 1: the beginning, yeah, goes through some shit.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so not fun. I mean, I'm looking forward to it,
- 2:08Speaker 2: but I'm not looking forward to it, you know what
- 2:10Speaker 2: I mean.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I know what you mean. Well, this is a two
- 2:13Speaker 1: parter episode, this one. So I tell you guys, the
- 2:15Speaker 1: same thing we told to our patrons and our little
- 2:18Speaker 1: pre show. It's worth it to stick through to the end.
- 2:22Speaker 1: There is some holy fuck moments, some oh my gods,
- 2:26Speaker 1: but at the very end there's like some redemption, like
- 2:29Speaker 1: fuck yeah, stuff that is worth getting through the hell
- 2:33Speaker 1: because that's what Lisa does. She goes through hell to
- 2:35Speaker 1: come through on the other side. And it's worth it
- 2:37Speaker 1: to stick around to see that.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't wait for that.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And speaking of patrons, actually we have some to think,
- 2:45Speaker 1: do we have? We have something to think? Specifically, I
- 2:47Speaker 1: want to thank all of our patrons for helping us
- 2:49Speaker 1: name chickens first and foremost, because that's exactly what they did.
- 2:54Speaker 1: They helped us name a couple of our new chickens.
- 2:56Speaker 2: New chickens.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so what were their names?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Got Mabel and and Dolly.
- 3:03Speaker 1: You almost forgot their names, didn't you, jo?
- 3:05Speaker 2: I did not.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I saw you looked up like, oh shit, I saw it.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Well, okay, maybe for like a tiny millisecond.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Well, we're still getting used to them being in our flock,
- 3:16Speaker 1: in her our little lives with these chickens.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Well, yeah, they haven't really been named that long really, No.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I think they've had their names officially for what three
- 3:22Speaker 1: days now.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So that's fair. Yeah, we have eight chickens now, so
- 3:27Speaker 2: it's like that's a lot to remember sometimes.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And no eggs being laid yet they're all too young. Yes,
- 3:32Speaker 1: so soon enough when we get the first egg, trust me,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we'll be posting all over our social media about it.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But we do have specific patrons to thank this week
- 3:41Speaker 1: because guess what they signed up for Patreon. They joined
- 3:44Speaker 1: us over there to get behind the scenes and all
- 3:45Speaker 1: that good stuff. Maybe they even had a hand in naming.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yes, they very well could have.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But we have Caitlin and I'm probably gonna butcher her
- 3:55Speaker 1: last name here, but give me a moment nenenga, I
- 3:58Speaker 1: think is how I'm gonna say it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Ok. Awesome.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Kira Williams, Rebecca Hayden, Marissa and Amy turning awesome right on,
- 4:09Speaker 1: So they all get those behind the scenes content, they
- 4:11Speaker 1: get the extra episode that comes out the very last
- 4:14Speaker 1: day of every single month, and then just some fun,
- 4:18Speaker 1: cool content like the pre show that we did today.
- 4:20Speaker 2: We often do pre or post shows, So there you go.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Ours today was a complete shit show. But you know what,
- 4:27Speaker 2: that's just us.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Just a little bit. We got some stuff coming up
- 4:32Speaker 1: this fall that I want to touch on. First off,
- 4:37Speaker 1: we have Halloween Week. I know, do you guys? Do
- 4:40Speaker 1: you know what Halloween Week is?
- 4:41Speaker 2: A bin?
- 4:43Speaker 1: If you haven't been following us for a while, if
- 4:44Speaker 1: you haven't gone back in our episodes, we're going to
- 4:47Speaker 1: tell you. We do a week long of seven days,
- 4:51Speaker 1: an episode every day. So you got Halloween Week coming
- 4:55Speaker 1: up in October.
- 4:57Speaker 2: It ends on October thirty, first.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Halloween, Halloween Day or night or whatever is the last episode.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So those seven days proceeding including Halloween, is when the
- 5:08Speaker 1: Halloween Week occurs. And we also have I don't know
- 5:12Speaker 1: if you guys have actually looked at a calendar, but
- 5:13Speaker 1: there's a Friday the thirteenth in October this year.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's super cool. That needs to be recognized for show.
- 5:20Speaker 1: It does I don't know what we're gonna be doing
- 5:22Speaker 1: for it yet, Whether it's just a social media thing
- 5:25Speaker 1: or Patreon or on here, I don't know. We got
- 5:27Speaker 1: to start actually planning and getting our stuff and ducks
- 5:29Speaker 1: or chickens in a row for Halloween week and October
- 5:34Speaker 1: and the whole shebang.
- 5:36Speaker 2: We'll all I'll actually be shooting.
- 5:38Speaker 1: A wedding that day on Friday the thirteenth.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I have a wedding right on Friday, October thirteenth.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, be stoked photographing a bride in a black dress.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Aren't you. Yeah? It's gonna be amazing.
- 5:49Speaker 1: It's gonna be epic.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I know. I literally can't wait.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Literally literally, Oh my god, O MG, are you gonna
- 5:56Speaker 1: be drinking a pumpkin spice latte during it?
- 5:58Speaker 2: No? I actually don't like those surprises enough. I know.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It's the one thing that I don't have that's basic.
- 6:06Speaker 1: You got chickens, you got your huskies, you live in
- 6:08Speaker 1: a tiny home, you host a true crime podcast, you're
- 6:10Speaker 1: married to a bearded man. What else you got?
- 6:16Speaker 2: I feel? Okay, I'm sorry, but some of those things
- 6:18Speaker 2: in there I don't think are super basic, Like is
- 6:21Speaker 2: owning chickens basic?
- 6:22Speaker 1: I think it's basic.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It is.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I think it's basic.
- 6:26Speaker 2: You think everything is basic, though.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Everything about you, I'm just oh my word, oh my word. Well,
- 6:36Speaker 1: shall we get today's episode. I think we chatted enough.
- 6:39Speaker 2: We chit chatted a little bit much. Yeah, let's do her.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Okay. So, as I mentioned today, we were talking about
- 6:44Speaker 1: a survivor story, the story of Lisa Mickveay. Okay, I
- 6:50Speaker 1: will tell you guys, it's not for the faint of heart,
- 6:52Speaker 1: though I don't go into too many graphic details, but
- 6:56Speaker 1: it is a story worthwhile sticking through to the end.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So yeah, let's start from the very beginning, shall we.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, let's learn about Lisa.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Let's learn about Lisa. So from the beginning of her life,
- 7:10Speaker 1: Lisa lived a rather less unfortunate one. She never really
- 7:15Speaker 1: knew her mother in her early life, and from the
- 7:17Speaker 1: age of two to seven years old, she lived in
- 7:20Speaker 1: foster care. Now, I do know there's a lot of
- 7:22Speaker 1: foster cares out there who are actually doing fantastic jobs,
- 7:25Speaker 1: So shout out to them for doing that. But I mean,
- 7:29Speaker 1: children shouldn't be in foster care, you know, like it's
- 7:32Speaker 1: just of course, we'd rather be at home. Parents, right, Yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 1: so being in foster care is an unfortunate situation, but
- 7:38Speaker 1: thankfully there are good ones out there now. She was
- 7:42Speaker 1: raised in foster care. But however, she would be reunited
- 7:46Speaker 1: with her biological mother a little while later, after seven
- 7:49Speaker 1: years old. Okay, so ideally something like this would be
- 7:53Speaker 1: a fantastic reunion and even a turning point in a
- 7:56Speaker 1: young child's life. However, in Lisa's case, it certainly wasn't.
- 8:02Speaker 2: It was not.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Hey, no, So I'm sure a child such as Lisa
- 8:07Speaker 1: in this case would initially be very happy to be
- 8:10Speaker 1: finally be home, finally reunited with her mom, But even
- 8:14Speaker 1: to someone as young as her, someone as young as Lisa,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'm sure sadness and darkness would have quickly overshadowed any
- 8:21Speaker 1: happiness that she initially had. Lisa's mom was unfortunately a
- 8:26Speaker 1: very heavy drug user, so she was an addict. She
- 8:32Speaker 1: didn't have much of a life, and Lisa would see
- 8:37Speaker 1: her mom just binge on anything she could basically to
- 8:40Speaker 1: get her next fix.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Oh jeez, and she's like seven eight years old here, correct?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 8:47Speaker 1: At times, Lisa's mom would actually leave the house, not
- 8:52Speaker 1: for days, not for weeks, but even up to months
- 8:56Speaker 1: at a time, leaving Lisa at home left alone.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Are you serious? All alone alone? Holy shit? Did she
- 9:06Speaker 2: even have like food and stuff for that long?
- 9:08Speaker 1: I don't know. Like this in itself is one of
- 9:10Speaker 1: the saddest things to hear, like a child having to
- 9:14Speaker 1: look after themselves at such a young age. Yeah, they
- 9:18Speaker 1: don't even have the means to provide for themselves, like
- 9:20Speaker 1: you said, food or anything, or even comprehend the situation
- 9:23Speaker 1: that they're in.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Well, yeah, if I mean like going to school or
- 9:27Speaker 2: anything like, I don't know. You sound how that would
- 9:29Speaker 2: even work.
- 9:30Speaker 1: There's no travel, there's no say you do have food
- 9:32Speaker 1: at first, you were running out of groceries.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it will run out eventually.
- 9:36Speaker 1: What about paying bills or electrical heat?
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:40Speaker 1: Anything. Now, I do know that Lisa does have a sister,
- 9:45Speaker 1: though I don't know anything about her. I don't know
- 9:48Speaker 1: she was present in this situation as well or where
- 9:50Speaker 1: she was, but I do want to let that be
- 9:52Speaker 1: known that she did have a twin sister.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Oh, a twin sister.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yes, So this world is truly cruel. Lisa learned that
- 10:02Speaker 1: extremely young, going through many things at this super young age.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So Lisa eventually wouldn't stay at home with her mom.
- 10:13Speaker 1: She went out into the world still as a child,
- 10:17Speaker 1: living in homeless camps, abandoned buildings, cars, wherever she could,
- 10:22Speaker 1: you name it. She would sleep under leaky roofs as
- 10:25Speaker 1: it rained, cold concrete buildings and cool nights.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, my heart.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow, she was homeless and she went where she
- 10:36Speaker 1: needed to simply survive.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So the homeless life would finally be behind her when
- 10:45Speaker 1: she was around the age of thirteen. And that in
- 10:48Speaker 1: itself is such an unfathomable, unfathomable sentence to say that
- 10:55Speaker 1: homelessness is behind you at thirteen.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Like the fact she even survived really on her
- 11:04Speaker 2: own on the streets and stuff is almost a miracle.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's miraculous to put it to thee. Yeah. So Lisa,
- 11:11Speaker 1: when she got off the streets, she would be moving
- 11:14Speaker 1: in with her grandmother. However, though she left the streets
- 11:18Speaker 1: behind in the comfort of into the comfort of the
- 11:20Speaker 1: home in Tampa with her grandma, this would prove not
- 11:24Speaker 1: to be the sanctuary that she was really looking for.
- 11:28Speaker 1: It didn't take long before Lisa fell victim to another
- 11:31Speaker 1: unfortunate situation. Her grandmother's boyfriend didn't hesitate to take advantage
- 11:37Speaker 1: of a young girl now living in the home. While
- 11:41Speaker 1: he was in his fifties and Lisa was merely thirteen,
- 11:45Speaker 1: he would begin to sexually assault her every night.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, yeah, wow, fuck this guy. Well yeah,
- 11:54Speaker 2: what a freaking monster. But can she not like catch
- 11:57Speaker 2: a break?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Kay, like gee, yeah, she is living a life of
- 12:03Speaker 1: horrors essentially. Yeah, it's terrifying.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but the fact that this Okay, oh, did the
- 12:09Speaker 2: grandma know or was she not aware or we don't
- 12:11Speaker 2: probably even know.
- 12:14Speaker 1: As far as I can tell. The guy kind of
- 12:18Speaker 1: tried to keep it quiet hidden, but I'm pretty sure
- 12:22Speaker 1: she would have been.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Aware if it was every single night.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yes, And there's certain things that occur within this story
- 12:30Speaker 1: where the grandma isn't such a great person either, and
- 12:34Speaker 1: certain things that Lisa is quoted saying later on where
- 12:38Speaker 1: she talks about her grandma and this guy are basically
- 12:42Speaker 1: shitty people. So I'm pretty sure the grandma was Whether
- 12:47Speaker 1: she was aware or how much she was aware, she
- 12:50Speaker 1: was very much so at least turning a blind eye
- 12:52Speaker 1: to some degree.
- 12:53Speaker 2: So yeah, that is so disturbing.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It really is. So this for the lack of better words.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Piece of shit. Old man forced himself onto her and
- 13:06Speaker 1: swore her to secrecy. He told her that if she
- 13:10Speaker 1: ever spoke a word about it, he would kill her
- 13:13Speaker 1: twin sister. Oh wow, yeah, so using her sister and
- 13:17Speaker 1: threatening with her life. M So I did want to
- 13:21Speaker 1: mention here though I couldn't find anything about the twin sister. Right,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm going to be reading this book here soon. It's
- 13:27Speaker 1: called Smoldering Embers. It's actually about Lisa's story. So if
- 13:31Speaker 1: there is anywhere that talks about her sister, I'm presuming
- 13:34Speaker 1: it will be within these pages. So that's one book
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm going to be checking out very soon, I can
- 13:39Speaker 1: tell you that. So regardless though Lisa didn't want her
- 13:43Speaker 1: sister to be harmed, and even the event of this
- 13:47Speaker 1: threat not being enough, this again piece of shit old
- 13:52Speaker 1: man held Lisa at gunpoint, with a cold barrel of
- 13:57Speaker 1: his gun pointed directly at her head as he took
- 14:00Speaker 1: advantage of her.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Wow. Yeah, that is like a very
- 14:08Speaker 2: disturbing visual. Holy heck, it worse? How could it get
- 14:15Speaker 2: worse than that?
- 14:16Speaker 1: There's a mental piece to this, one more mental piece.
- 14:19Speaker 1: What does he do to make matters. Even worse, he
- 14:23Speaker 1: referred to Lisa as his girlfriend.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, that takes it to a whole new level.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's really fucked, really fucked holy shit. Okay.
- 14:38Speaker 1: So Lisa didn't have a whole lot for options. Needless
- 14:42Speaker 1: to say, she couldn't fight back, and she was terrified
- 14:45Speaker 1: to say anything, so she stayed silent and followed the
- 14:48Speaker 1: demands of this piece of shit old man.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's literally the only way you can describe him. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: I mean it could it could be worse than that,
- 14:57Speaker 2: really describing him.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I really strive to one day be like a cute
- 15:01Speaker 1: old man or a goofy or funny old man, I know,
- 15:03Speaker 1: rather than a piece of shit old man.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Well, I mean most I would say the majority of
- 15:08Speaker 2: old men are better than this.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Freakin' Now, I would certainly hope majority of any human
- 15:12Speaker 1: being is better than this. So this basically went over
- 15:19Speaker 1: the course of four long years.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Four years of shit, yes of hell, really yes.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Now, by some quotes with Lisa, she refers to it
- 15:31Speaker 1: is three, but by her age and birthdays and stuff
- 15:34Speaker 1: like that, it's closer to four. Okay, So Lisa would
- 15:39Speaker 1: be made to do unspeakable things to this asshole, fucking
- 15:44Speaker 1: douche Canoe until she was the age of seventeen. At
- 15:48Speaker 1: this point, he began talking to her about having a
- 15:52Speaker 1: child with her. What Yeah, you heard me, right?
- 15:58Speaker 2: Oh?
- 15:59Speaker 1: Oh man, Okay, yeah, he's talking to her about how yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 1: you're gonna have my kid.
- 16:04Speaker 2: This guy is a nasty, nasty motherfucker.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah he is. And at this point Lisa couldn't stand
- 16:13Speaker 1: it any No.
- 16:14Speaker 2: There's no way like that is a year in just
- 16:17Speaker 2: the worst position ever. Yeah, really yep, because she's probably
- 16:22Speaker 2: a good person, and then she would want to, you know,
- 16:25Speaker 2: like want to probably have this caid or whatever. Yeap,
- 16:29Speaker 2: but oh that would no.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, oh put it in this perspective. She left foster
- 16:35Speaker 1: care when she was seven. Let's assume she had a
- 16:37Speaker 1: fantastic foster care. Okay, let's assume, because there are many
- 16:41Speaker 1: ol them.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yeah, there are.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So by the time she left at seven, she's now seventeen.
- 16:45Speaker 1: The last ten years of her life, over fifty percent
- 16:47Speaker 1: of her life has been hell yeah, homelessness and abuse.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Wow, h I know you have you kind of want
- 16:57Speaker 2: to hope that those first seven years were good, but
- 17:00Speaker 2: I might not have necessarily been that great.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Either who knows, But I'm going to give it the
- 17:04Speaker 1: benefit of the doubt here, and I'm going to say
- 17:05Speaker 1: that let's assume it was a good, good care.
- 17:07Speaker 2: That she was in, which makes it hard though in
- 17:10Speaker 2: the sense too that she got pulled away from that, Yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 2: right to just go to.
- 17:14Speaker 1: But it makes me feel better than saying no, it
- 17:15Speaker 1: was a shitty foster care.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:18Speaker 1: But again, I'm sure she talks about that a little
- 17:20Speaker 1: bit more in her book too. So at this point, though,
- 17:23Speaker 1: like I said, she couldn't stand this abuse any longer,
- 17:26Speaker 1: and she couldn't stand life, for that matter, any longer either,
- 17:32Speaker 1: Lisa planned to end her own life. It was all
- 17:35Speaker 1: too much for the young seventeen year old girl. By
- 17:38Speaker 1: this age, she had endured, just as we talked, far
- 17:41Speaker 1: more than anyone should have had to. So she wrote
- 17:44Speaker 1: her suicide note during her shift at work one evening,
- 17:48Speaker 1: after which she planned to end all of the pain.
- 17:54Speaker 1: She planned to get off shift, go home, walk through
- 17:57Speaker 1: the doors of a grandma's house, and end it once
- 18:01Speaker 1: and for all. I have some quotes here directly from Lisa.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I'm going to read I went to work one day
- 18:09Speaker 1: at a local donut shop and before I left, I
- 18:11Speaker 1: wrote my suicide note because I was just done. I
- 18:16Speaker 1: was going to end my life when I came home
- 18:18Speaker 1: that night. I was going to kill myself using the
- 18:20Speaker 1: gun he used to hold to my head when he
- 18:23Speaker 1: raped me. I was tired of everything. It was time
- 18:27Speaker 1: to go.
- 18:29Speaker 2: That is so sad, I mean, and honestly not like
- 18:35Speaker 2: that's there's always like other options, right, but she is.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I feel terrible for her, and it doesn't seem like
- 18:43Speaker 2: she does have a lot of other options. So she's
- 18:46Speaker 2: like in between a rock and a hard place.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah, for someone in a position like that, I can
- 18:51Speaker 1: see it being very difficult to see any sort of hope.
- 18:54Speaker 2: But generally, like there always is a light at the
- 18:57Speaker 2: end of the tunnel at some point.
- 18:58Speaker 1: They're always is one, but that traveling too light could
- 19:04Speaker 1: be extremely difficult for many people. For Lisa, it would
- 19:09Speaker 1: be extremely difficult still, so she would end her shift
- 19:14Speaker 1: just as if it were any other day of working
- 19:15Speaker 1: a double shift. This night, in particular, she walked outside
- 19:19Speaker 1: with her bike in the middle of the night into
- 19:21Speaker 1: the cool, crisp bear. She hopped on and began pedaling
- 19:24Speaker 1: from the donut shop towards home. On November third, nineteen
- 19:29Speaker 1: eighty four. Tired and exhausted from her shift, Lisa peddled home,
- 19:34Speaker 1: knowing this would be her last bike ride. This would
- 19:37Speaker 1: be the last time breathing in the air of the evening,
- 19:41Speaker 1: the last shift she ever worked. Soon, she rode past
- 19:47Speaker 1: a familiar church at about two am, en route home.
- 19:50Speaker 1: It was then she noticed a strange car parked outside
- 19:53Speaker 1: the church. It had never been there before when she'd
- 19:55Speaker 1: gone past any other time, but tonight there It was
- 20:00Speaker 1: before she had any real time to actually sit and
- 20:03Speaker 1: think about it or comprehend that this car was really different,
- 20:08Speaker 1: something happened. Someone tackled her from behind off her bike
- 20:12Speaker 1: and grabbed her. Lisa immediately began screaming as loudly as
- 20:17Speaker 1: she could. She was flailing her arms and kicking against
- 20:20Speaker 1: her attacker with all the force she could muster. However,
- 20:24Speaker 1: it was no use. She was overpowered. Whoever it was
- 20:28Speaker 1: managed to get a blindfold over her eyes and hauled
- 20:31Speaker 1: her into the strange car she saw moments earlier. Lisa
- 20:35Speaker 1: began begging and crying for her life, telling her attacker quote, God,
- 20:42Speaker 1: whatever you do, don't kill me. You can do whatever
- 20:45Speaker 1: you want, but don't kill me, and that's when two
- 20:49Speaker 1: things happened. First, Lisa McVeigh realized that she didn't want
- 20:55Speaker 1: to die. She didn't want to commit suicide, she didn't
- 20:58Speaker 1: want to get killed. Instead, Lisa realized she wanted to
- 21:01Speaker 1: live and she wanted to be something and make something
- 21:04Speaker 1: of herself. And secondly, her attacker pressed a gun to
- 21:09Speaker 1: her head and said shut up or I'll blow your
- 21:12Speaker 1: brains out.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Wow, It's an incredibly cruel twist of fate that, in
- 21:19Speaker 1: the same instance she realized she didn't want to kill
- 21:21Speaker 1: herself or die, she also had someone else there threatening
- 21:25Speaker 1: to end her fucking life.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Because if this didn't happen like this moment, she would
- 21:30Speaker 2: have gone home and for sure ended her life.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Wow, oh man, that whole thing that you just kind
- 21:39Speaker 2: of put us through there was really heavy. The fact
- 21:41Speaker 2: that this is her last bike. Right. Oh my gosh,
- 21:43Speaker 2: I feel like my heart skipped a beat.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah. So I have a few words from Lisa that
- 21:51Speaker 1: she would say as she looked back on this exact
- 21:54Speaker 1: moment of her life. So she said this, something in
- 21:59Speaker 1: the pit of my stomach said, You've got to stay
- 22:01Speaker 1: calm and you'll survive this. There was an epiphany of
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'm not going to allow one more person to take
- 22:08Speaker 1: my life away from me. My grandma and her boyfriend
- 22:12Speaker 1: took my youth, but I was going to take control
- 22:15Speaker 1: and take my life into my own hands. This man
- 22:19Speaker 1: wasn't going to take my life away. He didn't have
- 22:21Speaker 1: the right to. And that's why I started fighting to live.
- 22:27Speaker 2: What a badass?
- 22:28Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, in case you haven't figured it out, Lisa
- 22:31Speaker 1: McVeigh is our badass of the day and it will
- 22:35Speaker 1: continue on to be the badass of the day next
- 22:37Speaker 1: week as well, So she's double badass.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Well, to even just be able to have
- 22:43Speaker 2: that mindset when you are terrified.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Oh you don't even know this any of it yet?
- 22:50Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Well it seems unbelievable to me already.
- 22:54Speaker 1: So we are just touching the surface on how much
- 22:57Speaker 1: of a fucking badass Lisa is because the whole mindset
- 23:01Speaker 1: that you're talking about, we haven't even started on her
- 23:04Speaker 1: mindset really, really really.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I mean I'm like a huge advocate of her mind
- 23:09Speaker 2: over madd kind of thing, But it's very hard to
- 23:12Speaker 2: do that when, especially when you're in just kind of
- 23:15Speaker 2: an unthinkable situation. Oh for sure, I'm very intrigued to
- 23:20Speaker 2: see how this goes.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Then, well, of course it's this whole new Lisa's look
- 23:25Speaker 1: on life that would provide Lisa with like a whole
- 23:28Speaker 1: lot of the strength and the ability to endure her okay,
- 23:32Speaker 1: torture and sexual assault and rape for the next twenty
- 23:36Speaker 1: six hours.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Geez.
- 23:39Speaker 1: So her attacker began by tying her up in the
- 23:42Speaker 1: vehicle immediately, so right away Lisa got to work on
- 23:46Speaker 1: her survival. First thing she did was to try and
- 23:50Speaker 1: get a peek at who it was who grabbed her.
- 23:53Speaker 1: She peered out under a small bit of the blindfold.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So again to quote her here, she said this, anytime
- 24:01Speaker 1: he would take off or put on the blindfold, I
- 24:04Speaker 1: would clench my jaw to make it tight and allow
- 24:07Speaker 1: the blindfold to be looser than it would be. Whoa,
- 24:10Speaker 1: it really did help. I couldn't see everything, but I
- 24:14Speaker 1: could see beneath it.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Holy heck.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So basically what she's saying is she would clench to
- 24:20Speaker 1: allow her muscles to tighten and expand on the side
- 24:22Speaker 1: of her head. Right, Yeah, So when he tied the
- 24:25Speaker 1: blindfold tightly and then he let go, she would unclench
- 24:29Speaker 1: her jaw and blindfold would be slightly looser, allowing her
- 24:33Speaker 1: a bit of movement to see underneath the fucking blink.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh. Okay, that is incredible
- 24:41Speaker 2: to be able to sit back and think of something
- 24:44Speaker 2: like that. There is no way that I would in
- 24:46Speaker 2: that be able to I don't think in that situation.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I I mean, now, now i'd.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Remember fuck even now, I wouldn't.
- 24:54Speaker 2: That's true. Actually, I would be so scared shitless. Should
- 24:58Speaker 2: you even.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Remember it you nailed it? I'd be scared shitless. I'd
- 25:02Speaker 1: be screaming, scared and shitless because I shit my pants. Yeah,
- 25:06Speaker 1: that would be me.
- 25:07Speaker 2: So you wouldn't be sitting there remembering to clench your
- 25:09Speaker 2: jaw so that the blindfold it doesn't go on as tight. No,
- 25:12Speaker 2: have you ever.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Seen someone scare a pig? How they squeal? That's what
- 25:15Speaker 1: I would sound like in the trunk of the car.
- 25:16Speaker 2: That would be me as well. Now, the fact that
- 25:20Speaker 2: she's thinking.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Like that, Oh I told you her mindset incredible.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Wow.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So doing this she was actually able to take mental
- 25:30Speaker 1: notes on multiple things. She wasn't able to get a
- 25:32Speaker 1: look at her attacker, but she was able to see
- 25:35Speaker 1: the car, remember it again, see it again. It was
- 25:38Speaker 1: a red Dodge Magnum. Not only this, she put to
- 25:43Speaker 1: you skills she had learned from TV shows as she
- 25:45Speaker 1: watched as a kid, such as mcgiver and Magnum Pi.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 25:50Speaker 1: She memorized as much of her surroundings as she could
- 25:53Speaker 1: during the whole abduction or deal. She even kept track
- 25:57Speaker 1: of directions and turns the vvehicle was making as she
- 26:01Speaker 1: was being abducted, and the direction it was driving.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yes, fuck yes, yes whoa.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Eventually the car stopped and she was led upstairs in
- 26:13Speaker 1: a building into an apartment. As she walked, she counted
- 26:18Speaker 1: every single step she fucking took. Serious, she counted how
- 26:22Speaker 1: many stairs she went up. And she was able to
- 26:25Speaker 1: peek underneath the blindfold because of the whole jaw clenching thing.
- 26:29Speaker 1: And she saw and memorized the green carpet floor that
- 26:32Speaker 1: lined the hallway in the fucking hall apartment.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Shit. And then until later they'll even remember this shit, yeah,
- 26:40Speaker 2: after what she goes, because she goes through some hell
- 26:42Speaker 2: for like twenty six hours, you said, you.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Bet youa Oh my goodness. So unfortunately, though, once inside
- 26:50Speaker 1: the apartment, this is where Lisa's new nightmare would begin.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Lisa would be held and she would be repeatedly raped
- 26:59Speaker 1: within these walls, during of which one time Lisa asked
- 27:05Speaker 1: her attacker why he was doing this, and he coldly responded, quote,
- 27:11Speaker 1: to get back at all the women in general because
- 27:14Speaker 1: of a recent breakup.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, what a piece of shit.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Oh you bet you what an absolute piece of shit.
- 27:20Speaker 2: That is really really fucked up.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Someone broke up with me, So I'm going to like
- 27:26Speaker 1: screw you over, like I'm going to kidnap you and
- 27:29Speaker 1: torture you assault any sense. No, it doesn't.
- 27:33Speaker 2: It's like zero sense.
- 27:34Speaker 1: It doesn't. It's a power trip. You can't can't display
- 27:38Speaker 1: power for one person, so you're going to displace that
- 27:39Speaker 1: onto another. Makes no talking sense.
- 27:42Speaker 2: This guy literally like that. That just makes me feel
- 27:44Speaker 2: like I want to just like volmit like that's really
- 27:47Speaker 2: really yeah something.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So after a quote from him, I now wanted to
- 27:51Speaker 1: follow it up with a quote from Lisa again, so
- 27:54Speaker 1: she said, quote, he thought he could get back at
- 27:57Speaker 1: all the women by kidnapping and raping them because someone
- 28:00Speaker 1: broke his heart apparently, And so she said that in
- 28:03Speaker 1: an interview to the US.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Sun, which just makes him just sound like such an idiot.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oh it does, absolute idiot.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 1: So Lisa was facing someone who was doing these horrible
- 28:17Speaker 1: things simply out of spite rage, as we just touched on.
- 28:20Speaker 1: So in turn, what do you think she did.
- 28:25Speaker 2: She? I mean, I really actually okay, I just I
- 28:28Speaker 2: kind of had a moment listening to this that I've
- 28:31Speaker 2: never really thought of before. But if you're in like
- 28:34Speaker 2: such a shitty situation like this, to almost think about
- 28:40Speaker 2: how to take this person down once you survive this,
- 28:43Speaker 2: and that's what I think Lisa's doing. She's probably like
- 28:47Speaker 2: she's remembering things just in her head, like that's how
- 28:51Speaker 2: she's surviving. This is how she's going to take him
- 28:54Speaker 2: down later.
- 28:55Speaker 1: What do you mean about take him down?
- 28:57Speaker 2: Like make him get caught okay, never be able to
- 29:00Speaker 2: do this again.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Okay, Well, she's definitely targeting to try and get him caught.
- 29:04Speaker 1: She's trying to think of evidence, all that sort of stuff, clearly, right,
- 29:09Speaker 1: But in this instant when she realized that he's doing
- 29:12Speaker 1: this out of rage, she turned around and reciprocated that with.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Kindness, and so seriously, yes, okay, so did that go
- 29:24Speaker 2: well for her? Then?
- 29:26Speaker 1: Well, what she was trying to do was basically show
- 29:29Speaker 1: that she's a nice person. He's angry at someone who
- 29:33Speaker 1: wronged him, so she's like, well, I didn't wrong you.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I'm a nice person. Like I'm kind to you. You
- 29:39Speaker 1: should be kind to me. That's her fucking demeanor while
- 29:43Speaker 1: she's getting raped.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Humph. I don't even know what to say because that
- 29:50Speaker 2: is just And she's seventeen years old. You betcha seventeen
- 29:55Speaker 2: years old.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Seventeen years old and someone's raping her out of anger,
- 29:59Speaker 1: and she decides it's anger isn't the right route here?
- 30:02Speaker 1: I need to show kindness.
- 30:04Speaker 2: When she's had the life that she's had as well.
- 30:06Speaker 1: You bet youa hmmm, like talk about a fucking golden heart.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Hey, yeah, it is like I can hardly comprehend that
- 30:15Speaker 2: someone would be as amazing as her.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Yeah. So that was basically like her way of like
- 30:20Speaker 1: trying to show her like like you're doing something bad,
- 30:22Speaker 1: you're doing something wrong, like I didn't harm me.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I don't deserve this.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 1: So she not only tried to like kind of appeal
- 30:30Speaker 1: to her attacker and try and show him that the
- 30:33Speaker 1: compassionate side, but somehow she managed to also keep a
- 30:36Speaker 1: clear head in this whole fucking process. While doing this
- 30:41Speaker 1: to leave more evidence behind. Okay, so she thought, what
- 30:47Speaker 1: if he does kill me? Mm hmm, what if he
- 30:50Speaker 1: does dismember me, hides me, I'm never found again? She,
- 30:54Speaker 1: while still blindfolded this whole time, remember, she began pressing
- 31:00Speaker 1: her hands and fingers against anything she could to leave
- 31:04Speaker 1: fingerprints behind.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:07Speaker 1: She would reach out and grab onto table legs, press
- 31:09Speaker 1: her hands against walls, chairs, any sort of surface she
- 31:13Speaker 1: could you name it.
- 31:14Speaker 2: In the hopes that they will be like dusting for
- 31:17Speaker 2: fingerprints one day and finding these. You bet youah, that
- 31:22Speaker 2: is some kind of smart yep.
- 31:25Speaker 1: She also made a point of trying to, while reaching
- 31:28Speaker 1: out and pressing against walls, furniture for fingerprints, to reach
- 31:31Speaker 1: forward and feel her attacker's face as best she could
- 31:34Speaker 1: without being noticed, of course, to try and remember any
- 31:38Speaker 1: discernible details so she could describe what he fucking looked like. Oh, say,
- 31:44Speaker 1: for example, if you reach forward and grab my face,
- 31:45Speaker 1: you'd feel a beard? Yeah right, yeah, any details like that?
- 31:50Speaker 1: Is he bald, beard, mustache, glasses anything?
- 31:55Speaker 2: Hm? So this whole time though she didn't actually get
- 31:58Speaker 2: to see his face correct, really, he kept her blindfolded
- 32:02Speaker 2: the whole time. Yes, I was kind of thinking that
- 32:05Speaker 2: maybe once they were in the house that he would
- 32:07Speaker 2: take it off.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But no, he left her blindfolded the whole time. Now,
- 32:11Speaker 1: I mean there was times when the blindfold was like
- 32:13Speaker 1: on and off and stuff, but she was never allowed
- 32:15Speaker 1: to get a look at him. Okay, it was like,
- 32:18Speaker 1: for example, at one point she managed to convince him
- 32:20Speaker 1: to go to the bathroom alone without him there, so
- 32:23Speaker 1: she had the blindfold off then. Okay, but when she
- 32:27Speaker 1: did go to the bathroom alone, guess what she was
- 32:29Speaker 1: doing inside there?
- 32:30Speaker 2: Putting her fingerprints everywhere you fucking DNA and stuff.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yeah, fucking betcha, pressing fingerprints up in the corner of
- 32:36Speaker 1: the mirror, on the side of the bathtub, the underside
- 32:39Speaker 1: of the fucking.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Toilet, ball that you would never clean.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Places that would not get cleaned, you name it.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I cannot believe how smart she is.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Right, Like I said, her whole mindset that you were
- 32:53Speaker 1: talking about, We didn't even scratch the fucking surface.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yet, No, not at all. I mean this almost makes
- 32:59Speaker 2: me feel inadequate.
- 33:02Speaker 1: What I feel like?
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yes, I'm like what is the word? And I shouldn't
- 33:05Speaker 2: be like not comparing or anything, but it's just you
- 33:09Speaker 2: kind of put yourself in what her situation is. And
- 33:12Speaker 2: I don't know if I would be able to be
- 33:15Speaker 2: thinking that clearly.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I don't think so either.
- 33:17Speaker 2: It's just unbelievable. It's amazing.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yeah, she is battling literal demons and she is calm,
- 33:24Speaker 1: cool and collective. Like I'm sure she's freaking out. I'm
- 33:27Speaker 1: sure she's having a hell of a time. She's she's
- 33:31Speaker 1: getting fucking sexually assault and raped here, like it's not
- 33:34Speaker 1: fucking fun. No, but she is facing it and she
- 33:38Speaker 1: is taking a head on and doing everything she can
- 33:41Speaker 1: to survive, leave evidence and have an account of what happened.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Well. Yeah, and she's not giving up, and she's believing
- 33:49Speaker 2: that she's going to get through this right, which who
- 33:52Speaker 2: is something that I just feel like would be so
- 33:55Speaker 2: hard to.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Have you bet youa yeah, I'd probably still be squealing
- 34:00Speaker 1: like a pig wow with shit in my pants. I'm serious,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I know everything about this is a literal nightmare. Seriously,
- 34:13Speaker 1: it really is. She just managed to keep calm thinks
- 34:15Speaker 1: straight enough to keep spreading the fingerprints evidence and even
- 34:19Speaker 1: continue to talk calmly with her captor and when she
- 34:23Speaker 1: was striking up conversation, talking calmly with him, she even
- 34:27Speaker 1: had ulterior motives while doing that. She was trying to
- 34:30Speaker 1: find out as much details about this guy as she
- 34:33Speaker 1: possibly could.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I am speechless. That blows. It blows my mind.
- 34:42Speaker 2: It blows my fucking mind.
- 34:44Speaker 1: So during the conversations, Lisa never actually gave the man
- 34:47Speaker 1: her real name. She said her name was Carol and
- 34:52Speaker 1: that she was older than seventeen. She also told the
- 34:56Speaker 1: man that her father was sick and that she was
- 35:00Speaker 1: I'm mary care Without her, he would definitely be missing
- 35:03Speaker 1: her and very soon if she didn't make it home. So,
- 35:07Speaker 1: whether or not the man showed it, the false story
- 35:10Speaker 1: of her father would potentially be a part in saving
- 35:15Speaker 1: Lisa's life from this horrible incident. And I'll talk about
- 35:19Speaker 1: on how that plays in here, Okay, Soon enough, though
- 35:23Speaker 1: the topic at hand would be changed, the relaxed demeanor
- 35:27Speaker 1: Lisa was aiming for to keep her attacker somewhat calm
- 35:30Speaker 1: would change when a news bulletin came on TV. It
- 35:36Speaker 1: was reporting on seventeen year old missing Lisa McVeigh.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Oh shit.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So when Lisa heard this, immediately she started trembling and
- 35:48Speaker 1: crying because she couldn't believe someone was actually looking for her.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay, I did not go there at all. Really,
- 35:59Speaker 2: that's why she was upset.
- 36:01Speaker 1: She got upset at that.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yes, oh okay, wow, okay, okay, I have like the
- 36:10Speaker 2: giant lump in my throat after hearing that, because here
- 36:13Speaker 2: I was thinking that she was freaking out because this
- 36:16Speaker 2: asshole motherfucker is gonna see that she lied and that
- 36:21Speaker 2: you know, she's not actually Carol, but it's literally that
- 36:25Speaker 2: someone was looking for her.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Yes, I mean her captor did see that she lied.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Now I'm going to get into that in a second,
- 36:32Speaker 1: but yeah, she started crying because someone was looking for her.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Wow, wow, wow, Wow. That could make me bawl my
- 36:41Speaker 2: face off actually if I think about that too hard.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 36:47Speaker 1: So, as I mentioned, this guy who was holding her
- 36:50Speaker 1: was less than impressed. He just found out that she
- 36:53Speaker 1: was lying to him. He now knew her name, and
- 36:56Speaker 1: he now realized that she was a minor. So he
- 37:00Speaker 1: stormed over to her in a fitter rage, placed the
- 37:03Speaker 1: gun to the side of her head and said, don't
- 37:05Speaker 1: make me kill you. He didn't pull the trigger, he
- 37:12Speaker 1: wasn't taking revenge out on a woman. He was taking
- 37:16Speaker 1: revenge oden a child.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, this is interesting because when you had told
- 37:21Speaker 2: me that she kind of had lied about her age, right,
- 37:24Speaker 2: and her name and stuff. I was almost in the
- 37:27Speaker 2: back of my head wondering if, like he realized how
- 37:30Speaker 2: young she was. He didn't, if this would even have happened.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I mean, who knows, who knows it very well still
- 37:38Speaker 2: could have. But it's interesting because I did think of that.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure her age was the catalyst for her
- 37:48Speaker 1: survival in my opinion. I could be very wrong, but
- 37:51Speaker 1: that's that's my opinion. I do want to read her
- 37:53Speaker 1: book and really get deeper into this really before I
- 37:56Speaker 1: say for sure. But it would be around three thirty
- 38:00Speaker 1: am in the morning, which is twenty five hours twenty
- 38:03Speaker 1: five and a half approximately. Think actually, after being taken
- 38:06Speaker 1: that the man would ask Lisa what she thought he
- 38:10Speaker 1: should do with her. So she told him, you're a
- 38:13Speaker 1: really nice guy. I can take care of you. I
- 38:16Speaker 1: can be your girlfriend. Nobody needs to know how we met.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Of course, she's trying to appeal to him, trying to
- 38:22Speaker 1: be kind, right, I mean, making it seem like the
- 38:26Speaker 1: problems could just be all forgotten. Everything would be behind them, like.
- 38:30Speaker 2: It's kind of no big deal, like let's just carry on.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Here exactly, and after all, like a relationship, a broken
- 38:36Speaker 1: relationship is what kind of caused this. Maybe a new
- 38:39Speaker 1: happy relationship might be something that would give him a
- 38:42Speaker 1: sense of hope.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Okay, but wow, still just think in a head like that,
- 38:48Speaker 2: you bet youah?
- 38:51Speaker 1: But instead he said no, no, I can't keep you.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Where do you live?
- 38:58Speaker 2: Holy shit? So he has like slight little conscience or something.
- 39:02Speaker 2: I don't even know if that's if it's.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Called that or what I think. So there's something speaking there.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's that clarification of age here.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Like I said, he's not taking his anger his issues
- 39:17Speaker 1: out on another woman. He's taking it out on a child.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And that's that's not what he wants. That's not what
- 39:23Speaker 1: we want I was trying to do.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and he's realizing she has her whole life
- 39:28Speaker 2: ahead of her, and yeah, what the fuck is he doing?
- 39:32Speaker 1: I think? So now I do think that there is
- 39:37Speaker 1: that line in the sand is important. I'm going to
- 39:39Speaker 1: say that. Okay.
- 39:40Speaker 2: I just have to say one more thing though, about
- 39:42Speaker 2: the fact that she was surprised that people were looking
- 39:46Speaker 2: for her. Is like her expectations and people are that low.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sad.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that is just that's going to keep
- 39:57Speaker 2: me up at night, I feel.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Like, Well, the biggest thing for Lisa at this moment
- 40:02Speaker 1: was when he said where do you live? She was relieved.
- 40:08Speaker 1: He seemed like he was going to let her go,
- 40:10Speaker 1: of course, right, so she told him an address but
- 40:13Speaker 1: not hers. Okay it was a false one, and he
- 40:16Speaker 1: brought her back to his car blindfolded. Still. Yeah, he
- 40:21Speaker 1: drove to an ATM and to a gas station, then
- 40:24Speaker 1: dropped her off on a relatively secluded spot kind of
- 40:27Speaker 1: near the address that she told him at around four
- 40:30Speaker 1: thirty am, and he told her, quote, tell your father,
- 40:35Speaker 1: he's the reason I didn't kill you.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Jeez.
- 40:41Speaker 1: So that false story, this is where the false story
- 40:44Speaker 1: plays in. It could have potentially been a catalyst for
- 40:46Speaker 1: her survival.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but you woul almost think that he wouldn't believe
- 40:50Speaker 2: that anymore. But he must have.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Still then, I mean the news report all they noticed
- 40:54Speaker 1: someone missing, Yeah, very well, a sick father who is
- 40:58Speaker 1: in need of care would be the one to note
- 41:00Speaker 1: her missing and report her missing. Right, So very much.
- 41:03Speaker 1: That could still very much be true. However, I think
- 41:06Speaker 1: it's a classification of her being a child, not a woman.
- 41:09Speaker 1: That's my personal opinion. But again, I got to read
- 41:13Speaker 1: her book.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I mean, it's almost amazing to me too that he
- 41:17Speaker 2: just didn't go about hiding all the evidence, because it
- 41:21Speaker 2: could have gone that way too.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Yeah. So when he did drop her off, and he
- 41:26Speaker 1: did tell her this, he also told her to wait
- 41:29Speaker 1: five minutes before taking off the blindfold so he could
- 41:32Speaker 1: drive away, And to quote Lisa, that five minutes felt
- 41:38Speaker 1: like five years. So she sat there with the blindfold
- 41:44Speaker 1: on her face as she heard the car driving off,
- 41:47Speaker 1: slowly fading away in the distance, and waited and waited
- 41:51Speaker 1: until she could take the blindfold off, just in case.
- 41:55Speaker 1: And to quote her again, but when I finally took
- 41:58Speaker 1: it off and saw this huge oak tree in front
- 42:01Speaker 1: of me, I knew at that moment my life was
- 42:04Speaker 1: going to change.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, it was almost like her life was
- 42:07Speaker 2: going to start.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Lisa began running and soon figured out where she was,
- 42:14Speaker 1: and she kept running until she made it home to
- 42:16Speaker 1: her grandma's house. But instead of the nightmare ending, it continued. Ah,
- 42:24Speaker 1: it wasn't the man that had captured her that kept
- 42:27Speaker 1: the horrible experience going, but it was her grandma's boyfriend
- 42:31Speaker 1: still Hey. As soon as she burst through the door,
- 42:35Speaker 1: relieved to be away from her captor, a brutal beating ensued.
- 42:39Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 42:41Speaker 1: Yeah, this piece of shit old man assaulted her and
- 42:47Speaker 1: accused her of quote cheating on him.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Holy fuck.
- 42:53Speaker 1: He demanded that she tell tell him where she was
- 42:58Speaker 1: and what she was doing, but when she did tell him,
- 43:01Speaker 1: he didn't believe her and continued to beat her over
- 43:08Speaker 1: and over again. He asked her where she was, what
- 43:11Speaker 1: she was doing, and she continued to say she was kidnapped.
- 43:14Speaker 1: She was taken until finally they took her to the
- 43:18Speaker 1: police department, and when they arrived, Lisa's grandma even told
- 43:23Speaker 1: police that Lisa was lying about where she had been
- 43:26Speaker 1: and what had happened.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Man, these people are just evil.
- 43:31Speaker 1: The police were confused on exactly what was going on
- 43:34Speaker 1: when they arrived at the station. They were hesitant at first,
- 43:38Speaker 1: but after realizing the situation and analyzing kind of what happened,
- 43:42Speaker 1: they knew they had to begin investigation. After listening to
- 43:45Speaker 1: Lisa's story, Lisa spoke to an investigator by the name
- 43:49Speaker 1: of Larry Pinkerton, and she told him everything everything that
- 43:53Speaker 1: she could remember, all the details anything she meticulously tried
- 43:57Speaker 1: to retain, the green carpet, each step of the stairs,
- 44:01Speaker 1: the direction the car was moving, the turns, her fingerprints,
- 44:04Speaker 1: anywhere she left them. She told them all of it.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Him and the other investigators took notes and talked with
- 44:12Speaker 1: Lisa as long as she could to get all the
- 44:16Speaker 1: details right. But would all these things that she could
- 44:19Speaker 1: recall in the incident actually be enough to catch the
- 44:22Speaker 1: man who did this? You'll have to find out next episode.
- 44:30Speaker 2: I always knew it was coming close here. I just
- 44:34Speaker 2: have to say one thing, though, I mean, the fact
- 44:37Speaker 2: that she had so many details too, I'm sure made
- 44:40Speaker 2: investigators realize like she wasn't lying, because how could someone
- 44:45Speaker 2: make up that many like tiny little details, right? Really true? Yeah?
- 44:50Speaker 2: Because she was probably so thorough and it was, I mean,
- 44:53Speaker 2: but honestly could have also blown their minds that she
- 44:55Speaker 2: even could think all this shit up while she was
- 44:59Speaker 2: in such a situation. Yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Well, I will leave you with this, the consistency of
- 45:02Speaker 1: her story talking to investigators, they knew she wasn't.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Lying, Okay, good, No.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Being able to consistently say this direction, these turns over
- 45:12Speaker 1: and over again, never getting mixed up, knowing exactly what
- 45:16Speaker 1: to say. It wasn't random. She had these things memorized,
- 45:19Speaker 1: She knew they were very well aware. These were not
- 45:23Speaker 1: just the things she was saying off the cusp. There
- 45:26Speaker 1: were details she remembered.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Okay, well, I mean, gosh, the fact that it's ending sucks,
- 45:31Speaker 2: but I'm also super needing to know that this grandpa
- 45:36Speaker 2: or not even grandpa, like grandma's boyfriend, gets what the
- 45:39Speaker 2: fucks coming to him too, because he is I don't know,
- 45:44Speaker 2: I was going to say say worse, but I'm they're
- 45:48Speaker 2: both like just off, I mean, the attacker and this.
- 45:52Speaker 1: They both they're both douche canoes. That's what you're trying
- 45:54Speaker 1: to say.
- 45:56Speaker 2: There isn't enough words to describe how terribly I hate
- 45:59Speaker 2: both of them.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel you there. Yeah, So this episode, like
- 46:06Speaker 1: I said, part two is worth sticking around for. And
- 46:09Speaker 1: I'm not trying to actually reel you in be like, hey,
- 46:11Speaker 1: listen to a part two. No, Like, seriously, there's some
- 46:13Speaker 1: ship that is it makes up for all the shit
- 46:16Speaker 1: you went through. It's very much so worth hearing the
- 46:20Speaker 1: end of the story.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Well, you had shared one tiny little thing with me
- 46:25Speaker 2: because you just had to.
- 46:27Speaker 1: And it's one small detail. It's not even a detail,
- 46:29Speaker 1: it's just.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Something, but it is very much so. Yeah, you gotta
- 46:33Speaker 2: listen a part too. Yeah fall show Yeah, Bou show.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Bou showed even for that one little tiny piece of
- 46:39Speaker 1: information that I shared with Nicole earlier. Yeah, it's trust
- 46:42Speaker 1: me that that made me so happy. Oh yeah, one
- 46:45Speaker 1: fucking sentence.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I was like, hah yeah, yeah, you reacted quite like
- 46:51Speaker 2: you were pretty pumped about it.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Actually, to put it as the kids say, I lulled hard.
- 46:56Speaker 2: I don't know if that's what they say anymore, but
- 46:58Speaker 2: I know I was being i ron okay, I was
- 47:01Speaker 2: just like cringing at you. I'm like, oh boy, no, I.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Was being ironic. I was joking. It was a good
- 47:09Speaker 1: old jak.
