Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Kay Oliver our UK, you're correspondent, k good morning to you,
- 0:03Speaker 1: a defiant Mastershift judge going nowhere over there.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Well, absolutely, good morning to you Ryan. And just to
- 0:12Speaker 2: say it seems it's a case of out of the
- 0:14Speaker 2: frying pan, straight into the fire for Greg Wallace. He
- 0:17Speaker 2: has posted a defiant online video which basically, over these
- 0:22Speaker 2: claims of inappropriate conduct, he is pointing a finger at
- 0:28Speaker 2: middle class women of a certain age. Now, he's also
- 0:32Speaker 2: said that he over nearly twenty years, has worked with
- 0:35Speaker 2: perhaps four thousand contestants and this is a tiny minority
- 0:40Speaker 2: of these women who are making these allegations of inappropriate
- 0:44Speaker 2: language and misogyny. And it would be perhaps a question
- 0:50Speaker 2: to be answered as to why at this stage, if
- 0:52Speaker 2: we're talking about crisis management, he has gone out and
- 0:56Speaker 2: put this online so that now millions of people and
- 1:00Speaker 2: see this rather defiant backlash coming through. There are questions
- 1:04Speaker 2: being asked right, left and center about this one, including
- 1:08Speaker 2: claims from another male former contestant that Master Chef has
- 1:14Speaker 2: a very toxic atmosphere and that what is being said
- 1:17Speaker 2: about Greg Wallace is really the tip of the iceberg.
- 1:21Speaker 2: That BBC are launching investigations right left and center. But
- 1:25Speaker 2: this seems to be a story that's going to run
- 1:27Speaker 2: and run at the.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Moment here goodness may what about the crackdown on the
- 1:31Speaker 1: promised crackdown on migration from labor.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Well, we've been hearing about this promised crackdown since they
- 1:38Speaker 2: came into office in July, and it seems that numbers
- 1:41Speaker 2: today have revealed twenty thousand small boat crossings since July,
- 1:47Speaker 2: with no sign of it really letting up. Brian Now
- 1:50Speaker 2: Labour's Pat McFadden speaking today. He's a government minister. He
- 1:55Speaker 2: has promised that the government is determined to tackle this issue.
- 2:00Speaker 2: When questioned, would really not give a target figure for
- 2:05Speaker 2: the numbers, so there is no specific number that they're
- 2:09Speaker 2: going to talk about. However, we do know that last
- 2:12Speaker 2: week there were figures revealed by the Office of National
- 2:16Speaker 2: Statistics that shows under the Tory watch, up until June
- 2:20Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, nine hundred thousand people came into this country.
- 2:25Speaker 2: And the feeling is if these numbers continue to grow
- 2:29Speaker 2: like this, by the year twenty forty six, we will
- 2:32Speaker 2: have fifteen extra cities the size of Birmingham needed to
- 2:39Speaker 2: accommodate all the people that are over here. So obviously
- 2:42Speaker 2: this is still very much a political hot potato and
- 2:45Speaker 2: we wait to see what action they will take.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Certainly sounds like a ka Thank you very much for that,
- 2:49Speaker 1: kol of our UK europe correspondent.
