- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:02Your relationship with God is personal. It is very personal.
- 1:07He knew you before you were even born.
- 1:09Plans for you while you were in your mother's womb. You are not one in a crowd
- 1:14or a stranger to your Creator.
- 1:16The Savior of the world knows you by name. Join us in this program,
- 1:21He Calls Me by Name, as Kim Miller of Woman at the Well Ministries takes us
- 1:25through Isaiah 49, verses 1 and 3, which say,
- 1:29Listen, O Isles, unto me, and hearken ye people from afar.
- 1:33The Lord hath called me from the womb.
- 1:35From the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name,
- 1:40and said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
- 1:46Hello and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:50I'm not sure there is any more comforting thought than to know that your Savior
- 1:56knows you by name, that you're not just another person in the crowd,
- 2:01that you're not just somebody who is just a speck in the world,
- 2:08but you are truly someone that the Savior of the world has a personal relationship
- 2:15with you if you are a child of the Most High God.
- 2:18For those of you who do not believe and have not given your heart over to Him.
- 2:23Once you do so, you too have a personal relationship with God.
- 2:27It's not a generality to where he just loves mankind.
- 2:31He loves each and every one of us for exactly who we are and who we can be in him.
- 2:38He's the one person in the world who can see your potential and enable you to
- 2:45reach that potential if only you believe.
- 2:47The Bible says that all things are possible to him that believeth.
- 2:51And yes, he is a person in the world. He's as real as anyone that you know.
- 2:57He has come that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
- 3:01And though he sits by the right hand of the Father, he lives and dwells in every
- 3:07heart of the believer in the form of the Holy Spirit.
- 3:11And so we have this relationship with a powerful, almighty God.
- 3:17And if that isn't enough to stop you in your tracks and to realize that you
- 3:22are valuable, that you do have a purpose in life,
- 3:25and that you are worthwhile, I don't know what ever could be said to you that
- 3:31would allow you to understand that.
- 3:33Regardless of what you've done, regardless of where you've been,
- 3:36regardless of what you haven't done, The God of the universe,
- 3:40the King of kings, the Lord of lords, has looked upon you favorably and has
- 3:47a personal longing to have a personal relationship with you.
- 3:51And it started before you were even born.
- 3:54The Bible says in Jeremiah chapter 1 and verse 5 that he says,
- 4:01Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee.
- 4:05You may think that whatever it is that you're doing, that no one cares,
- 4:10no one is watching, no one understands, and it has no effect on anyone.
- 4:15But if you go no further than this part of this verse, you know that he knows you.
- 4:20And he knows you in such a way that his eyes are ever on you.
- 4:25And he does know the things that are happening in your life,
- 4:28and he does care about that, and he cares about you.
- 4:32And in doing so he has provided a way of escape for
- 4:35everything that is in your life that is causing you some
- 4:37sort of trouble and he has gone through that with
- 4:40you because he said he'd never leave you nor forsake you when you
- 4:43believe in him he says before i knew formed thee in the belly i knew thee and
- 4:49before thou camest forth out of the womb i sanctified thee and i ordained thee
- 4:54a prophet unto the nations that's what he said to jeremiah and since he's no
- 4:59respecter of persons we know that he formed Jeremiah and,
- 5:04and he knew him before he was ever born. And then we see this verse in Isaiah
- 5:08where he says that the Lord hath called me from my womb.
- 5:14And then further down in that verse, he says, he made mention of my name.
- 5:19You know, it's very common for us
- 5:22as people to speak to those we know and love and are very close to very informally
- 5:31by their first name or even sometimes by a nickname or perhaps even an endearment
- 5:38like honey or baby or as my family always said love cups.
- 5:43But when we have a distant relationship with somebody then we usually will call
- 5:48them by mr and mrs so-and-so or miss so-and-so we use that last name that surname
- 5:54and that shows a certain amount of proximity in our relationship.
- 5:59And we often show that as respect, especially younger people to older people.
- 6:04But as soon as you get a relationship with somebody, you have a personal connection.
- 6:10And that personal connection affords you usually some sort of name that you
- 6:15use for them that is not formal.
- 6:17And it's very interesting to me that the Bible makes it very clear all through
- 6:23the scriptures that we have a personal relationship with Jesus.
- 6:27And then it says that he calls us by name.
- 6:31You see, when we know somebody, we can call them by name.
- 6:35When you're in a crowd of people and you look across the crowd and you may for
- 6:40some reason want to bring attention to someone in that crowd and let someone
- 6:45you know that you're with see that person,
- 6:47then you usually have to describe and look at that tall lady in the pink shirt.
- 6:52But if you knew that person, you would say, look at and call her name.
- 6:59Jesus isn't looking down from heaven and saying, look at that short lady in the green shirt.
- 7:06He's looking and saying to the Father, look at Kim.
- 7:12He knows my name. You know, it shows that there's a certain amount of caring
- 7:19when you go the effort to learn somebody else's name.
- 7:24Sometimes in many of our work interactions or perhaps even at the grocery store or the post office,
- 7:31places that we frequent, you can tell the person who is really friendly and
- 7:36really interested in people and their well-being because they'll begin to call
- 7:40the cashier or begin to call the person at the post office or wherever it is
- 7:44that you're frequenting by their first name.
- 7:47But then there are those people very standoffish. And though they see that same
- 7:51person six times a week and they've seen him for 10 years, they still don't
- 7:55refer to them as a name because they just make it a general acquaintance.
- 8:01God, in all of his glory, has no real need for me or you.
- 8:06But he has chosen to have a personal relationship with us.
- 8:10And he's chosen to allow us to
- 8:12have part of his glory in his kingdom by introducing other people to him.
- 8:18And he does that through that personal relationship he has with us as he walks
- 8:23with us and he talks with us.
- 8:25It's so amazing to me, the love of God.
- 8:30And I think this verse in Isaiah and these verses in Jeremiah tell us very clearly
- 8:35how interested he is in us.
- 8:38In fact, in Jeremiah 29, 11, he says, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you.
- 8:44Do you know how important you have to be to somebody to cross their mind for them to think of you?
- 8:51And he just doesn't say, I know the thought I had of you.
- 8:55He says i know the faults that i
- 8:59think toward you that i
- 9:01think is an active verb the lord
- 9:05thinks about you as a person and you personally he knows your name and in isaiah
- 9:13he says he calls you by name he has a plan and a purpose and he says that clearly
- 9:19in jeremiah 29 11 where he says for For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord,
- 9:25thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
- 9:29The Bible goes on to say, Then shall you call upon me, and ye shall go and pray
- 9:33unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
- 9:36The Lord is waiting for us to talk to him.
- 9:41And he hovers around us, supplying us daily with his benefits,
- 9:46never leaving us nor forsaking us, supplying us with all that we need and giving
- 9:51us the strength to do the things that he's called us to do you are important
- 9:55to Jesus Christ which makes you
- 9:58important to God and in John chapter 17 we're told that he prays for us.
- 10:05He shares his time with the Father, with you on his mind.
- 10:10And perhaps most importantly, especially for those of you who have not come
- 10:14to the saving knowledge of who Christ is, to realize that when he was on the
- 10:19cross, you were on his mind.
- 10:21You personally, you as an individual, not all of mankind, not all of the human race,
- 10:29but you personally, me, Kimberly Francine Miller,
- 10:33was on his mind as he shed his blood on.
- 10:36The cross of calvary i believe that because the
- 10:39scriptures tell us so and the bible says
- 10:42that for god so loved the world that he
- 10:45gave his only begotten son that whosoever the
- 10:48world gives us the understanding that it's available to
- 10:51absolutely every one of us and the whosoever tells
- 10:54us that it is a personal commitment that it
- 10:58belongs to you personally it belongs to me
- 11:01personally i can stake my claim through
- 11:04the blood of jesus christ on my inheritance in heaven
- 11:07that i could live in a place not made with hands eternal into
- 11:10heavens where god is the light and no sin enters where death has no place there's
- 11:19no misunderstandings but it is joy unspeakable and full of glory and a peace
- 11:25that passes understanding and it belongs to me as a person.
- 11:30It belongs to me individually.
- 11:32It belongs to you as a person, and it belongs to you individually.
- 11:37He says that we're his servant, and he makes mention of your name, that he calls you.
- 11:44There is a purpose for you to be on this earth, and that purpose is to glorify the Lord.
- 11:50And he has given each one of us a set of talents and skills that he has intended
- 11:57for us to use for his glory.
- 11:59And when we come to him in prayer, asking for his guidance and allowing him to lead us and direct us,
- 12:07He will surely give us the strength we need in order to accomplish that he's called us to do.
- 12:15If you're looking for your purpose, if you're feeling lost and like you're just
- 12:20kind of waifing in the wind,
- 12:22it's time that you got on your knees and you talked to a mighty God who knows
- 12:27you by name, who calls you by name and says to call unto him and he will answer
- 12:31you and show you great and mighty things which you know not.
- 12:35That same God beckons you as he knocks on your heart's door to sup with him
- 12:40and to spend time with him in prayer and in his word to develop that relationship
- 12:46that he came that you might have.
- 12:48It's personal and he knows you and he's calling you by your name.
- 12:55Call the Lord this moment with a prayer from your heart that you may walk and
- 13:01talk with him continually.
