December 29 - What Will Endure · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, December 29th.
• 0:11
Radiant in the dark Have you ever tried getting ready in the
• 0:14
dark? Like the lights are off, you're
• 0:16
  guessing, and everything feels uncertain?
• 0:18
That's what it can feel like living in this world sometimes.
• 0:22
But God calls you to be radiant anyway.
• 0:24
Not with perfect appearance, but with real character.
• 0:27
Proverbs chapter 31 verse 30 says charm is deceitful and
• 0:30
beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
• 0:34
That's not an insult to beauty. It's a reminder that beauty
• 0:37
without God doesn't last and charm without character can fake
• 0:41
you out. Second Peter chapter 3 verse 10
• 0:44
sobers us up. The day of the Lord will come
• 0:46
like a thief, and the earth and the works that are done on it
• 0:49
will be exposed. That means what's hidden won't
• 0:52
stay hidden forever. The things people flex online
• 0:55
won't matter the way they think. The only life that stands is the
• 0:59
one built on Jesus, truth, holiness, love and faithfulness
• 1:04
and revelation. Chapter 19, verse 7 gives the
• 1:06
hope. Let us rejoice, for the marriage
• 1:08
of the Lamb has come and his bride has made herself ready.
• 1:12
The bride is the church, God's people.
• 1:14
That means you're not just waiting around for the future.
• 1:17
  You're preparing. You're becoming.
• 1:19
You're learning to love Jesus more than distractions, more
• 1:22
than approval, more than the temporary shine of the world.
• 1:25
So in a dark, noisy culture, you can be radiant by fearing the
• 1:29
Lord, by living with integrity when others fake it, by choosing
• 1:33
purity when others compromise, by loving people when others use
• 1:36
  them. You're getting ready for
• 1:38
something bigger than this life. Let's pray.
• 1:41
Heavenly Father, help me value what you value.
• 1:44
Teach me that real beauty is found in a heart that fears you
• 1:47
and loves you. Keep me from being distracted by
• 1:49
what fades and help me live with purpose because the day of the
• 1:52
Lord is real. Prepare me as part of your
• 1:55
church, ready, faithful, and full of love for Jesus.
• 1:59
Let my life shine in the dark with your light, in Jesus name,
• 2:02
Amen. Imagine stepping into a new year
• 2:05
with clarity in your spirit, strength in your soul, and the
• 2:08
supernatural backing of heaven behind every step you take.

• 3:11
with God in today's three-year Bible Reading plan Proverbs 3110
• 3:17
to 31 World English Bible. Who can find a worthy woman, for
• 3:21
her value is far above rubies. The heart of her husband trusts
• 3:25
in her. He shall have no lack of gain.
• 3:27
She does him good and not harm. All the days of her life she
• 3:31
seeks wool and flax and works eagerly with her hands.
• 3:34
She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.
• 3:38
She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her
• 3:41
household and portions for her servant girls.
• 3:44
She considers a field and buys it with the fruit of her hands.
• 3:48
She plants a vineyard. She arms her waist with strength
• 3:51
and makes her arm strong. She perceives that her
• 3:54
merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn't go out by
• 3:57
night. She lays her hands to the
• 3:59
distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
• 4:01
She opens her arms to the poor. Yes, she extends her hands to
• 4:05
the needy. She is not afraid of the snow
• 4:07
for her household, for all her household are clothed with
• 4:10
scarlet. She makes for herself carpets of
• 4:12
tapestry. Her clothing is fine linen and
• 4:15
purple. Her husband is respected in the
• 4:18
gates when he sits among the elders of the land.
• 4:21
She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes
• 4:24
to the merchant. Strength and dignity are her
• 4:26
clothing. She laughs at the time to come.
• 4:29
She opens her mouth with wisdom. Kind instruction is on her
• 4:33
tongue. She looks well to the ways of
• 4:35
her household and doesn't eat the bread of idleness.
• 4:38
Her children rise up and call her blessed.
• 4:40
Her husband also praises her. Many women do noble things, but
• 4:44
you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is
• 4:47
vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.
• 4:50
Give her of the fruit of her hands.
• 4:52
Let her works praise her in the gates.
• 4:54
Second Peter 31 to 13 World English Bible.
• 4:58
This is now, beloved, the second letter that I have written to
• 5:01
you. And in both of them I stir up
• 5:03
your sincere mind by reminding you that you should remember the
• 5:06
words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and the
• 5:09
commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior.
• 5:12
Knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come
• 5:16
walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise
• 5:20
of His coming? For from the day that the
• 5:22
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the
• 5:25
beginning of the creation. For they willfully forget that
• 5:28
there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water
• 5:32
and amid water by the word of God.
• 5:34
By which means the world that existed then, being overflowed
• 5:37
with water, perished. But the heavens that exist now,
• 5:40
and the earth by the same word, have been stored up for fire,
• 5:44
being reserved against the day of judgement and destruction of
• 5:47
ungodly men. But don't forget this one thing,
• 5:50
beloved, that one day is with the Lord as 1000 years, and 1000
• 5:54
years as one day. The Lord is not slow concerning
• 5:58
His promise, as some count slowness, but He is patient with
• 6:01
us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all
• 6:05
should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will
• 6:07
come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away
• 6:11
with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with
• 6:14
fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be
• 6:17
burned up. Therefore, since all these
• 6:19
things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought
• 6:22
you to be in holy living and godliness, looking for and
• 6:26
earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause
• 6:29
the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will
• 6:32
melt with fervent heat? But according to His promise, we
• 6:35
look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness
• 6:38
  dwells. Revelation 19.
• 6:41
World English Bible. After these things, I heard
• 6:44
something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven saying
• 6:47
  Hallelujah. Salvation, power and glory
• 6:50
belong to our God. For His judgments are true and
• 6:53
righteous. For He has judged the great
• 6:55
prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual
• 6:58
immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His servants at her
• 7:01
  hand. A second said Hallelujah.
• 7:04
Her smoke goes up forever and ever.
• 7:06
The 24 elders and the four living creatures fell down and
• 7:10
worshipped God who sits on the throne, saying Amen, Hallelujah.
• 7:14
A voice came from the throne saying, Give praise to our God,
• 7:17
all you his servants, you who fear Him, the small and the
• 7:20
great. I heard something like the voice
• 7:22
of a great multitude, and like the voice of many waters, and
• 7:25
like the voice of mighty thunders, saying Hallelujah.
• 7:28
For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.
• 7:31
Let's rejoice and be exceedingly glad, and let's give the glory
• 7:34
to Him. For the wedding of the Lamb has
• 7:36
come and his wife has made herself ready.
• 7:39
It was given to her that she would array herself in bright,
• 7:42
pure, fine linen. For the fine linen is the
• 7:45
righteous acts of the Saints. He said to me, Right, blessed
• 7:48
are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.
• 7:51
He said to me, These are true words of God.
• 7:54
I fell down before his feet to worship him.
• 7:56
He said to me, Look, don't do it.
• 7:58
I'm a fellow bond servant with you and with your brothers who
• 8:01
hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony
• 8:05
of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
• 8:08
I saw the heaven opened, and behold a White Horse, and he who
• 8:11
sat on it is called faithful and true.
• 8:14
In righteousness He judges and makes war.
• 8:16
His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns.
• 8:20
He has names written, and a name written which no one knows but
• 8:23
he himself. He is clothed in a garment
• 8:25
sprinkled with blood. His name is called the Word of
• 8:28
God. The armies which are in heaven,
• 8:31
clothed in white, pure fine linen, followed him on white
• 8:34
horses. Out of his mouth precedes a
• 8:36
sharp double edged sword, that with it he should strike the
• 8:39
nations. He will rule them with an iron
• 8:42
rod he treads the wine Press of the fierceness of the wrath of
• 8:46
God the Almighty. He has on his garment and on his
• 8:49
thigh a name written King of Kings and Lord of LORDSI saw an
• 8:54
Angel standing in the sun. He cried with a loud voice,
• 8:57
saying To all the birds that fly in the sky, Come, be gathered
• 9:00
together to the great supper of God, that you may eat the flesh
• 9:03
of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, and the
• 9:07
flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of
• 9:10
all men, both free and slave, small and great.
• 9:13
I saw the beast, the kings of the earth and their armies
• 9:16
gathered together to make war against him who sat on the horse
• 9:19
and against his army. The beast was taken, and with
• 9:23
him the false prophet who worked the signs in his sight with
• 9:26
which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast
• 9:29
and those who worshipped his image.
• 9:31
These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with
• 9:34
sulfur. The rest were killed with the
• 9:36
sword of him who sat on the horse, the sword which came out
• 9:40
of his mouth. So all the birds were filled
• 9:42
with their flesh. Thanks for joining us on Bible
