- 0:00Speaker 1: This episode brought to you by Podcasting with AI Made Easy, my latest course, okay.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Okay, obviously I'm wearing a jean jacket.
- 0:07Speaker 1: There's two reasons for that.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I wanna take you back to a memory.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It was about 15, 16 years ago.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I was at the radio station.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I got a call from my husband.
- 0:15Speaker 1: He says hey, dee, I bought my first Harley.
- 0:19Speaker 1: So I went down to the Harley shop and he padded the back seat and he said this is where you're going to ride to Savannah this weekend.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I took one look at the back seat, I looked around and I asked the salesman is there anything for me to ride?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Needless to say, we walked out of there with two Harleys, me on one.
- 0:38Speaker 1: This one minute is exciting.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's going to be the next minute, scared to death, going up the interstate Impact.
- 0:43Speaker 1: How can your voice create an impact that can have a purpose?
- 0:49Speaker 1: With that, let me introduce to you I affectionately call her the podcast queen my friend Jen Rogers.
- 0:57Speaker 1: She is all about keynote speakers, podcasts, workshops, and she's the expert that's going to give some impact for your voice.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Cause you have a voice.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I want you to find it, I want you to share it and I want you to speak it.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Jen, so cool to see you, girl.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So cool to be here.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Dang, I didn't know about the sunglasses.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, let's go, can you?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I mean, I'm serious, he didn't know I could ride, and the salesman's like we need to see you ride, but down a major interstate on a Bu blast.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I went from a Bu blast to about five or six different Harleys.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't ride anymore, but come on, let's give impact.
- 1:42Speaker 1: That's what I think.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm riding a Harley and I'm next to my friend Jen.
- 1:46Speaker 1: She's riding her Harley and we are.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Can I say it?
- 1:50Speaker 1: We are badasses for the kingdom.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I like it, I like it, I like it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: We're going to talk all things podcasting with purpose.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It all starts with building a relationship.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Before you ever get in this, what are we?
- 2:03Speaker 2: We're in a stream yard room together, great work in speaking on stages together.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I suspect that the reason someone, the reason that you are listening to this right now, is and that's something usually has to do with some A, bs and Cs.
- 2:36Speaker 2: We're going to talk about A, bs and Cs so we can get to the D, the dollar of monetizing podcasting, and I like to say on either side of the microphone.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So right now, I am a podcast host and there are a lot of strategies that you put into place as a podcast host.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I'm also a podcast guest and there are a lot of things that you put in place to have a great guesting experience, because the whole goal when you show up wherever you are this is the stage.
- 2:59Speaker 2: On this stage or any other stage you want to make sure that you serve the audience well, and the way that you do that is by connecting with your host.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And when you connect in the podcasting community, I just want to tell you your world will change, because the people inside the podcasting community are servers, so you must show up to serve, not to say okay, so you can find me on my website, go on here.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You can buy my book, you can download this freebie, you can join my community.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You can do all of these things.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Nobody cares until you show up and serve, and your job as a podcaster with purpose is to be so compelling that the person who is listening to you can't help but type your name in the Google bar to find out more about you.
- 3:44Speaker 2: So you don't even need to give a bunch of places to go find you, because when you do your job, when you podcast with purpose, you will be so compelling that people want to find out more about you.
- 3:55Speaker 1: That's what I believe.
- 3:56Speaker 2: How about you?
- 3:57Speaker 1: I think that's right and I think that behind your yes to serve Jen, there's other people waiting, have waited for you to say yes and you've said yes, and now it's just a matter of them finding you.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Each person connects differently.
- 4:15Speaker 1: This is my brand, my voice and my smile, and maybe a little humor, and I think people connect, like, even though we're in the same business, so to speak, people are going to connect with you that would never connect with me.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's my take on it.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Exactly, okay, okay, so give me some of those ABCs so we can help someone who really wants to show up with impact.
- 4:45Speaker 1: They know they have a voice and they, they know they have a story that the world's waiting to hear, but I'm afraid how do I get started?
- 4:56Speaker 1: I want to make money from this.
- 4:58Speaker 1: All the questions that a lot of people ask, yeah.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Yeah, so ABCs, we're going to start with a.
- 5:06Speaker 2: We're going to go in order.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Would that be all right with you?
- 5:08Speaker 2: All right, we're going to accept right where you are.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You need to have a conversation with beautiful you and accept where you are right now.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So where are you right now?
- 5:21Speaker 2: What are you thinking of doing that you're not doing?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Accept where you are right now.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You might be on the precipice of quitting.
- 5:30Speaker 2: If you're like most podcasters, you're on the precipice of quitting.
- 5:33Speaker 2: In fact, I recently learned that 362 podcasters throw in the towel every day.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Wow, so you need to accept where you are.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Are you in it for the long haul?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Because if you're not in it for the long haul, you're going to join the 362 podcasters who throw in the towel every single day.
- 5:52Speaker 2: That's indie podcasters.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Okay, we're indie podcasters.
- 5:55Speaker 2: We're doing this on our own.
- 5:56Speaker 2: We're not on this big network.
- 5:57Speaker 2: We're not Joe Rogan, we're not Huberman Lab.
- 6:00Speaker 2: We are on our own, doing our own thing indie podcasters.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So you need to accept where you are.
- 6:06Speaker 2: If you're on the precipice of quitting, it's okay.
- 6:09Speaker 2: It's just not okay to stay there.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Where do you want to go?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Do you want to go up or down?
- 6:14Speaker 2: I remember when I was hired for a position and I was sharing this a little bit about that position with my brother and I said, oh my gosh, this place is a mess it is.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I listed all of the challenges that we're facing, that the department was facing, and as the leader, I was considering whether or not I was going to take that role on and he said well, jen, it's a great, it's a great place to be.
- 6:40Speaker 2: He said there's no way but up.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So if you are on the precipice of quitting, just go up.
- 6:45Speaker 2: There's only one way to go.
- 6:46Speaker 2: It can't get any worse than that, because if you quit, you steal someone else's transformation.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Come on, that's so good.
- 6:53Speaker 2: You want to steal someone else's transformation?
- 6:55Speaker 2: I don't.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I was just saying you may have the imposter syndrome.
- 6:59Speaker 1: That's why your identity is so important.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah, your identity is important and if you're like me, your identity was stolen by words that someone spoke over you when you were little.
- 7:12Speaker 2: So, you have to decide what are you going to do with that?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Because, again, if we believe God's word to be true, then our actions are going to line up with it.
- 7:20Speaker 2: So if you believe that the Lord has prepared work in advance for you to do, you got to go do the work and make no mistake about it.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It is work.
- 7:28Speaker 2: That's why 362 podcasters quit every single day.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Because it is work, because in podcasting you don't get a lot of feedback.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Now I know we're going live and there are comments and people can comment on it.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I can't see any of that yet.
- 7:41Speaker 2: You don't need to comment to do A.
- 7:45Speaker 2: You actually need to do A.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I'd rather you did A than comment, say okay, we're going to do A or whatever.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It is no, actually accept where are you right now?
- 7:53Speaker 2: This is where you are, because now you can say okay, where am I going to go next?
- 7:59Speaker 2: And if we truly believe there's only one way to go but up, then let's go up.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And in order to go up, you have to identify what is your resistance point.
- 8:08Speaker 2: What is it?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Is it the words that someone spoke over you?
- 8:11Speaker 2: Is it the?
- 8:13Speaker 2: I can't stand this phrase.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Just straight up, all right.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I rarely have an interview where I don't hop on my soapbox.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I must.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Can I hop on my soapbox, teresa?
- 8:22Speaker 2: Please?
- 8:23Speaker 2: This is yours.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Stop saying I can't afford it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Stop it.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Come on, stop it.
- 8:32Speaker 2: What can you afford?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Ask yourself that question what can I afford?
- 8:39Speaker 2: What happens if I don't make this decision, if I don't invest in me, if I don't believe in me enough to invest in me, how am I going to expect anyone else to believe in me to listen to my show?
- 8:50Speaker 2: Because that lack of belief in you is going to come through the microphone.
- 8:54Speaker 2: The microphone it picks up everything it does.
- 8:57Speaker 2: It picks up what's in your heart.
- 8:58Speaker 2: So if you don't believe in you, your audience will not believe in you.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I don't know who you are, but I may have more belief for you than you're holding for yourself right now.
- 9:07Speaker 2: That's a problem.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Well, I'm so passionate about as far as the podcasting is, you got to find your voice and find your voices answering those questions that Jen just asked.
- 9:20Speaker 1: New identity produces new activity.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Solid identity gives you the authority to step up to the mic and get back past those limiting beliefs.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So what's point B?
- 9:34Speaker 2: Belief.
- 9:34Speaker 2: What are you leaning into?
- 9:36Speaker 2: And I alluded to that.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Are you leading into thoughts that are transformative?
- 9:41Speaker 2: Are you leading into thoughts of change?
- 9:44Speaker 2: You know that.
- 9:47Speaker 2: The advice that says when you're making a major decision, you go into a new space, you do that.
- 9:50Speaker 2: You know why you do that.
- 9:51Speaker 2: You do that because you are being purposeful about making a new decision.
- 9:58Speaker 2: So you're saying I'm going to go to a new space for new input because this decision is so important that I can't even be a part of my normal space because this decision is life-changing.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Now, it may not be.
- 10:14Speaker 2: When we think life-changing, we may think, oh, we need to scale the Empire State Building, something like that.
- 10:19Speaker 2: No, no, sometimes it means that we need to go by our domain.
- 10:23Speaker 2: That could be the life-changing thing, because that is an action that aligns with the belief that you are a podcaster.
- 10:29Speaker 2: When I work with my clients, this is one thing that I have them say and they chuckle and they struggle when I say I want you to say I am a podcaster.
- 10:38Speaker 2: So if you are a keynote speaker, if you are a workshop facilitator, if you are someone who just comes on live on social and that is your platform, then say I am and fill in the blank, and you must have evidence to support the fact that you are that thing.
- 10:54Speaker 2: That's why I say even buying a domain could be life changing, because you have to take actions that align with what you believe.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And you know how it is when God doesn't let he keeps a scripture coming back to you in ways that you can't even anticipate Romans 12, 1, 2.
- 11:13Speaker 2: You know, we like to focus on two.
- 11:14Speaker 2: We like to focus on two Kind of like.
- 11:17Speaker 2: We like to focus on Jeremiah 29, 11, but we don't want to go to 12 and 14.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Romans 12, 1 says sacrifice your body.
- 11:25Speaker 2: You got to sacrifice what you think you want and go before the throne of grace and say okay, god, there's this burning in my heart, there's this thing you gave to me.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I don't know what to do, but I know that Jen said I'm only going up.
- 11:40Speaker 2: So how do I go up?
- 11:41Speaker 2: What do I need to let go of so I can discern your perfect and pleasing will when you transform my mind?
- 11:50Speaker 2: See, the Lord is the transformer, he's the infuser of ideas.
- 11:56Speaker 2: So you must acknowledge that, where you are, there are certain sacrifices you need to make.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It might be a sacrifice of your time.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Listen, soapbox issue number two there is no such thing as balance.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Okay, there is no balance, there is no, I'm gonna spend five hours here and five hours here, no, no, if you are building a business which, by the way, you can't do in two hours a week, impossible, impossible.
- 12:18Speaker 2: And you can't do it in two hours a day if you're building a business, can't do it, it's impossible.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But you'll have times where there's intense focus on your business, where that's where you need to be.
- 12:30Speaker 2: So, for example, teresa and I know we both do bootcamps.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I've got a bootcamp coming up.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Let me tell you that that thing is intense.
- 12:37Speaker 2: So my family knows we've got meals made ready to go and they know that it's a big, do not disturb.
- 12:45Speaker 2: But then after that, that's the time to say okay, I'm going to give a little bit more time here in this other area.
- 12:51Speaker 2: So balance, okay, yeah, I don't know if I'm going to get to soapbox issue number three, but B was about belief.
- 12:58Speaker 2: And also, there's no such thing as balance.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Well, you know you said a sacrifice and I know, mentally, when you make this, maybe you make a sacrifice of Thanksgiving.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Thank you God, I am a podcaster, because when you do something, when you give God thanks, even though you have no evidence of what you're saying, you're producing the expectancy mode in the very neurons of your brain.
- 13:25Speaker 1: So I am a podcaster.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Thank you God, I am a podcaster.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It's not about declarations as much as restructuring your brain, and the best way to do that is be thankful.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, it's so good.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Be thankful and create the evidence that supports the calling that you know that God has given to you, because there's a reason why you want to go.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Teresa and I, we love the stage.
- 13:52Speaker 2: We love it.
- 13:52Speaker 2: We can't tell you exactly why.
- 13:54Speaker 2: We just know that we do and we draw from all those experiences that we've had growing up, all the hard and the hurt.
- 14:01Speaker 2: That's usually actually what makes a really good podcast, as long as head heads up, as long as you're recovered enough from the wound because you can't help someone else heal if you're still oozing blood.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So you got to be, recovered enough from the wound to teach on it.
- 14:16Speaker 1: That's one of my main points to get on my soapbox.
- 14:18Speaker 1: It's short Speak from your scars, not your wounds, because your wounds are all ugly and they're not healed.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But when you speak from your scars, you get to speak to the person you once were.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And to the person who, if you don't use your voice, it's going to be a longer time for them to experience the transformation that you already have.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Listen, god's going to do what he's going to do.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Okay, he's going to do it.
- 14:46Speaker 2: If he has decided we know he does not change his mind he's going to do what he's going to do.
- 14:50Speaker 2: But if you have a conversation with the Lord and he says go do this thing and you don't go do this thing, there's a problem there.
- 14:59Speaker 2: There's a problem there.
- 15:01Speaker 2: There's a problem there.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And while that person won't get their transformation from God using you, they will get their transformation because God has that purpose for them.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't you want to be a part of that?
- 15:12Speaker 2: I want to be a part of that.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I love it.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I'm working with a client right now.
- 15:16Speaker 2: She is literally giggling over every episode.
- 15:19Speaker 2: She said this is easy, this is fun, I can't wait to do it.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And listen, that's not how it started.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Okay, that's not how it started, and what a great place to be.
- 15:29Speaker 2: What a great place to be.
- 15:31Speaker 2: So B belief A accept where you are, acknowledge any resistance points that you may have.
- 15:36Speaker 2: B belief what are you believing the Lord for, so that you can use your voice in a powerful way to create transformation, as you discern God's pleasing and perfect will when you sacrifice what you want for what you know God is calling you to do?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Very good.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Takes us to see yeah, all right.
- 15:57Speaker 2: My favorite word, my word of 2023, curiosity.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Get curious.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Get curious, ask powerful questions.
- 16:06Speaker 2: What is it that made you want to get your own Harley Teresa?
- 16:11Speaker 2: What?
- 16:11Speaker 1: was that I, just when he didn't.
- 16:14Speaker 1: My husband didn't know that I just love motorcycles.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I didn't drive, I didn't ride that many when I was young, but it lit me up and I was lit up for I think it saved my from me just flipping out the back on my.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I mean, that's my story, part of my relationship, but I I loved it and I got to tell you, jen, it gave me space, I wrote my own so I didn't have to hear him talking.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I'm sorry, so if you don't know Teresa's story there's, there's a whole story underneath there why she's saying that, and she's saying that with appreciation for that.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm all for the covenant of marriage, not against guys.
- 16:54Speaker 1: A good looking guy in a truck drive by, my head's going to turn, my heart's going to skip a beat over the truck.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'm working on the man.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I love you.
- 17:03Speaker 1: So, anyway, thank you for asking that because, uh, harley represented adventure.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It represented me being on my own, riding my own big ass.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Harley Davidson, people say you're so small, how can you ride this?
- 17:18Speaker 1: And I'm like hey, I was born to be on a Harley, but anyway, I love it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I love it so good, so good.
- 17:24Speaker 2: So curiosity, get curious.
- 17:26Speaker 2: What is it that has you discontented right now?
- 17:29Speaker 2: So, when you think about your ideal day by the way, when's the last time you thought about that?
- 17:33Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Think about your ideal day.
- 17:36Speaker 2: What does that look like?
- 17:39Speaker 2: And instead of why am I not getting it?
- 17:42Speaker 2: Why am I not getting it?
- 17:50Speaker 2: Why am I not experiencing it?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Ask yourself what prevents me from getting closer to that dream.
- 17:53Speaker 2: What story am I?
- 17:56Speaker 1: remembering that's preventing me from telling my own story.
- 17:57Speaker 2: What is it that God really wants me to do with what he put inside of me?
- 18:02Speaker 2: Who is it that I might be able to reach out to and ask what do I do next?
- 18:10Speaker 2: What prevents me from being vulnerable to say I don't know what to do and I'm afraid to reach out?
- 18:17Speaker 2: But I'm going to do it anyway and I'm going to put it up front and say listen, I know sometimes in the DMs we get some weird stuff.
- 18:25Speaker 2: This is not weird stuff.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I just need some help.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Can you?
- 18:28Speaker 2: Is there someone you can direct me to?
- 18:31Speaker 2: Because this is my dream, this is where I want to go next.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Can you help me go here?
- 18:36Speaker 2: So I think there are a lot of powerful questions we can ask ourselves, and none of them are why questions?
- 18:42Speaker 2: Instead, they're all what's next?
- 18:44Speaker 2: How could I take that next step?
- 18:49Speaker 2: Who can I connect with to help me move forward?
- 18:54Speaker 2: I know another expression we use is success leaves clues.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Well, of course it does.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Why aren't you picking them up the whole?
- 19:02Speaker 2: Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
- 19:04Speaker 2: Why?
- 19:04Speaker 1: aren't you picking them up?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Do you not see the clues?
- 19:08Speaker 1: They're right there.
- 19:09Speaker 1: You know I like what you said.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Where you said you said what would be like your ideal day, or what can you just think of that you enjoy.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And one of my ideal days is sitting down with a cup of coffee with a really good friend, and I brought that thought to my podcast.
- 19:30Speaker 1: What do you love to do?
- 19:31Speaker 1: Connect it, connect something that you do real well to an area that you maybe not do well, but bring that success of that feeling, that emotion I love having coffee with my friends that success of that feeling, that emotion.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I love having coffee with my friends.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Do you get it?
- 19:49Speaker 2: I love it Is there cake?
- 19:50Speaker 1: I do like cake.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Is there cake?
- 19:51Speaker 1: There's cake downstairs.
- 19:55Speaker 1: It's not mine, I'm a cookie person personally Sugar cookies.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Come on, love it, love it.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Listen when you do the ABCs of doing podcasting or speaking with purpose.
- 20:08Speaker 2: That's what leads you to D, to the dollars.
- 20:09Speaker 2: You have to do this work.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Listen, this is the work that we push off.
- 20:11Speaker 2: We don't like to do this work.
- 20:13Speaker 2: We don't like to sit down and create a plan.
- 20:14Speaker 2: We just want to speak on stages.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Okay, what's your message?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Do you have a talk?
- 20:22Speaker 2: Do you have the equipment?
- 20:24Speaker 2: Have you practiced?
- 20:24Speaker 2: Have you gotten coaching?
- 20:26Speaker 2: I mean, these are all things that are a part of it.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Listen, I heard somebody say that you get to do what you love.
- 20:34Speaker 2: It's all the not so great stuff that you need to do so you can live in that sweet spot for that short amount of time.
- 20:42Speaker 1: That is scriptural, by the way, I love to talk about living in a sweet spot, so I amount of time.
- 20:45Speaker 1: That is scriptural, by the way.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I love to think about living in a sweet spot.
- 20:49Speaker 2: So I'm glad you're saying that.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, think about Jesus.
- 20:51Speaker 2: He was baptized and the sky opened up and the Lord, the Holy Spirit and Jesus were all there and the Lord said hey, he's my guy.
- 21:04Speaker 2: The Lord's saying the same thing to you, by the way, you're his people.
- 21:08Speaker 2: This is my son, with whom I am well pleased, and he gets this incredible spiritual nourishment.
- 21:15Speaker 2: So he left heaven to come to earth and he gets that slight, small dose when he's baptized.
- 21:20Speaker 2: And then what happens Immediately?
- 21:21Speaker 2: And he gets that slight small dose when he's baptized.
- 21:23Speaker 2: And then what happens Immediately?
- 21:26Speaker 2: The Spirit led him to the desert for 40 days.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You might be in your 40 days right now and it's hard, hard, hard.
- 21:34Speaker 2: In the 40 days, do what Jesus did Lean on the Word of God, lean into what you know to be true according to the word of God, reach out, go have coffee with somebody, it's okay.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Be you, be honest about it, be honest about what has you in this state so you can move forward.
- 21:54Speaker 2: The thing is is we really don't know what we want.
- 21:57Speaker 2: If we're honest, we haven't taken the time to say what we want, and I'm going to share with you what I want for 2025, because it blows my mind.
- 22:05Speaker 2: It's you know how.
- 22:06Speaker 2: The dreams that are God-sized dreams are so big.
- 22:08Speaker 2: This is so big.
- 22:09Speaker 2: My goal is $1 million for 2025 from my podcast.
- 22:14Speaker 2: That's good.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Now I don't know the how.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I don't know the how.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Okay, let's just be straight up.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I don't know the how, but I know some of the how, I know some of the way.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So I'm going to do what I know and you know.
- 22:26Speaker 2: What's happening is, god is giving me a little bit more.
- 22:28Speaker 2: If you're like me, you want the whole map.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I get it.
- 22:32Speaker 2: You're not going to get it, but I get it.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I want the whole map too.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Just God, if you could just tell me so.
- 22:37Speaker 2: January, february, march, april.
- 22:39Speaker 2: So when am I going to hit the target?
- 22:44Speaker 2: What do I need to do?
- 22:45Speaker 2: And God doesn't work like that, because if he worked like that, then there won't be any faith and we must have faith.
- 22:49Speaker 1: We want our ducks in a row.
- 22:50Speaker 1: We'll trust that our ducks more than the maker of the duck.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So I like my ducks in a row and I'm learning.
- 22:57Speaker 1: You can't have ducks in a row, so how can you invest in yourself to keep those ducks, to make the?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Not the ducks in a row, but how can you invest in yourself to keep those ducks to make the not the ducks in a row, but just to go in the direction you want?
- 23:06Speaker 1: My word for 2025 is to another level in all areas.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Financially, six figures financially, but I got to do the work.
- 23:16Speaker 1: But I find this every day as I find my voice in the word.
- 23:22Speaker 1: He actually, bit by bit.
- 23:25Speaker 1: This is what's just amazing, jen.
- 23:27Speaker 1: You can spend time with a God and he can, bit by bit, lead you.
- 23:32Speaker 1: And I think the first place he leads me is in my heart, in my recovery and transformation and deconstructing the lies about myself and reconstructing with his word.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And out of that overflow I go to another level because I'm not trusting myself.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I'm trusting the maker of that level.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It's so good, it's so important.
- 23:54Speaker 2: When I reflect on our journey together, where we started and where we are now looks very different.
- 24:03Speaker 2: You know what's really cool about where we are right now is are now looks very different.
- 24:05Speaker 2: You know what's really cool about where we are right now is the freaking level of confidence.
- 24:08Speaker 2: You know what we're in it.
- 24:09Speaker 2: We are totally in it and we don't care what anybody else thinks about it, because it's not anybody else's dream, it's our dream.
- 24:17Speaker 2: So you will see us a year from now and we're going to look very different.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I'm going to have my sunglasses next time I come, but we're going to look very different.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I'm going to have my sunglasses next time I come, but we're going to look very different, and that's okay.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Choose those things that align with podcasting on purpose, with keynoting on purpose.
- 24:33Speaker 2: See the voice.
- 24:34Speaker 2: It's so I don't know where, how far, how many.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I always say there's 18 inches from your head to your heart and as a podcaster, you get to close that gap.
- 24:43Speaker 2: As a keynote speaker, you go in here process.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I always say there's 18 inches from your head to your heart and as a podcaster, you get to close that gap.
- 24:44Speaker 2: As a keynote speaker, you go in here process and it goes down to 18 inches to get in their heart.
- 24:50Speaker 2: So I don't know what the voice box, what the distance is from the voice box to the heart, but it's even closer.
- 24:56Speaker 2: So use your voice.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Use your voice and even you know we talk a lot about voices because we host and we do this kind of thing.
- 25:05Speaker 2: If your voice is reflected in words because God's called you to write a book, write your book, write your blog post, do your thing, do your thing.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Assess Again, assess and accept where you are, believe what your beliefs are.
- 25:29Speaker 2: What are you believing the Lord for?
- 25:30Speaker 2: And only go up and then get curious, ask yourself curious questions about what's next.
- 25:32Speaker 2: How do I take it up to the next level so you can get it to D, to the dollars that monetize the work that you do?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Rewards, by the way.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Rewards are scriptural.
- 25:41Speaker 2: They're scriptural.
- 25:42Speaker 2: There's some here that happen on earth a lot in heaven, but plenty here on earth too Rewards on earth.
- 25:46Speaker 2: So here's the thing you got to hire a coach.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Thank you, I'm willing to invest in myself.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Investing is kingdom too, I'm sure between Jen and I we at times have really invested in ourselves.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, over the last few years.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I'm nearing 100.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Talk about 100,000.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I'm nearing 100,000 investing in what I believe God has led me to do.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And most millionaires that I know invest at least 100,000.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I've invested close to that, yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But my kids aren't.
- 26:16Speaker 2: And you don't see that, yeah, y'all don't.
- 26:22Speaker 1: That's right.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Listen, when you say investing in yourself, then again you got to re-evaluate am I worthy to invest in yourself?
- 26:31Speaker 1: You bet you are.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And let me also say you can invest in yourself and put it on a credit card and, as you're investing in yourself, you pay it off.
- 26:39Speaker 1: That is not consumer debt, that is investment in T, investment in Jan, investment in me.
- 26:46Speaker 1: And believe you, me, you get results from that investment if you do the work.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and it's only.
- 26:54Speaker 2: It is only through doing the work, through taking the action, that you then go up to that next level so you can ask yourself more powerful questions that take you up to the next level.
- 27:06Speaker 2: So my goal to get to a million well, you're a part of that goal.
- 27:07Speaker 2: If you're listening, you're a part of that goal.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I'd love for you to come to the podcast monetization bootcamp.
- 27:12Speaker 2: We're kicking off February 24th.
- 27:14Speaker 2: This is bootcamp number two.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I have nine on the calendar for 2025.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So one down, eight more to go and we had an incredible time.
- 27:24Speaker 2: So if you are interested in that, you can head on over to coachjenrodgerscom.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Forward slash podcast bootcamp.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So this is your second one.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I bet you're excited about that, because that's where that's kind of like your sweet spot, is it not?
- 27:41Speaker 2: Teaching.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, second is really good, but the third one is what I find to be the best one.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Second is really really good.
- 27:50Speaker 2: And then when you get to the third one, you say, oh okay, that's where you better.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I think the second one you better serve your audience and the third one you better serve your mission because it brings it all together Very good.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's why I hadn't thought about that before.
- 28:05Speaker 2: What a great question.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I think that's how it's done.
- 28:07Speaker 2: But podcast monetization boot camps, so I can teach you how to monetize your voice on either side of the microphone and invite you into coaching opportunities with me.
- 28:17Speaker 2: So that's how I'm getting to a million.
- 28:25Speaker 1: That's good.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I love it, I love it, love it.
- 28:26Speaker 1: So I got a question for you.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm just curious how much I have people who also want to learn how to have a signature talk, how important they're working on the signature talk, how important is it?
- 28:35Speaker 1: Or how then Tadvantations is it, as they're working on their keynotes, talk whatever you want to call it and have a podcast?
- 28:44Speaker 1: Don't you think those go hand in hand and they actually benefit the speaker who wants to be have a signature talk?
- 28:52Speaker 1: What do you?
- 28:52Speaker 1: What's your thoughts on that?
- 28:55Speaker 2: I'll answer your questions with a question how beneficial is it to be the thought leader in your field?
- 29:01Speaker 2: If you think it's beneficial, then you're going to have a keynote and you're going to have a podcast.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Now, if you're not into the podcast, if you say listen, jen, I'm not really called to that, okay.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I mean only you can know through your discernment with the Lord.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I know that you're called to guest.
- 29:21Speaker 2: I know that if you're here listening to this, you're called to guest.
- 29:26Speaker 2: So you can guest and you must understand some of the principles of guesting.
- 29:30Speaker 2: And I cover that in my bootcamps as well, because both sides of the microphone are powerful.
- 29:36Speaker 2: So, when you write a book, what does everybody do?
- 29:37Speaker 2: Who writes a book?
- 29:38Speaker 2: They go on a book tour, they talk, they talk, they become the thought leaders.
- 29:44Speaker 2: So you can become a professional guest.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Or and you it's important that you have um engaging talking points where you show up to serve, not to sell your book.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I mean, that's your, your business goal, but your showing up goal is to serve the audience.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Like, what is it that they need?
- 30:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I think honoring the guest and not slamming with your your offers, I think, speaks volumes, because the audience, they're smart, they can, they can tell are you, are you giving me something?
- 30:18Speaker 1: Are you here to sell your book?
- 30:19Speaker 1: So I can just see the difference and I'm totally turned off.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Okay, they just want us to buy the book.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Okay, that's cool.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I was going to say, okay, avoid doing this.
- 30:31Speaker 2: So you asked me such a great question.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Thanks for asking the question.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I cover this in Chapter 3 of my book, which is called blah blah, blah, blah blah, and this is what I think.
- 30:46Speaker 2: And then, as soon as you're done with that, you can head on over to my website and you can watch some of my videos that are absolutely incredible, because I've been working on my craft, you know so we'll watch my videos, cause I'm sure they'll work for you.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I've been working on my craft, you know so we'll watch my videos, cause I'm sure they'll work for you.
- 31:05Speaker 1: And then, when you're done with that, make sure you buy my blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 31:10Speaker 2: It's horrible, the listener goes.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I was going to say those interviews.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Those listens to another podcast.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it is great to serve when they leave, guess what?
- 31:25Speaker 2: They don't come back.
- 31:26Speaker 2: If they leave your show because you've done something like that.
- 31:30Speaker 2: They're not coming back and they're going to use their voice to talk about your voice.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Make sure it's a good referral.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I like what you said.
- 31:40Speaker 1: When people so connect with you, are so impacted with you, you may have 105 chapters of things, great things, but you don't need to give it all.
- 31:51Speaker 1: They're going to go find you on Instagram.
- 31:53Speaker 1: They're like, oh, I like that.
- 31:54Speaker 1: What's her name?
- 31:55Speaker 1: Again, I want to go find her.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'm going to go find Jen Rogers.
- 31:58Speaker 1: She's going to.
- 31:58Speaker 1: That might be my's gonna be okay, that might be my best.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that might be my best thing.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Oh, trace is on instagram.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Let me see what she's talking about.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You don't have to give the whole enchilada, but it is nice when you have abc and d points, like jen yeah, that d?
- 32:14Speaker 1: d is really sweet I am understanding that that is very sweet.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Well, I just want to ask you one off the cuff have you ever had I'm just curious because I think people like stories have you ever had a guest?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Because I've had this.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Every step of the way they kind of threw you off, meaning you're trying to go deep into something and they throw you off to something totally different.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I had that happen and I caught myself saying the most stupid thing a podcast host could say.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Can I ask you this question?
- 32:52Speaker 1: I mean, it's so totally caught me off my game.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Have you ever had something like that?
- 32:56Speaker 1: Or the years of podcasting you make sure someone like that isn't going to be on your podcast.
- 33:02Speaker 2: I just want to know if you've had this experience in the last 30 minutes.
- 33:05Speaker 2: It's a great question because it does happen.
- 33:10Speaker 2: It actually does happen, and when you go live this is the challenge that you you'll decide if you're going to pull the plug.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I mean, if they're, if it's outrageous, listen, it's your show, it's your genius and it is your audience and you have a responsibility to protect your audience.
- 33:26Speaker 2: So, for me, I'm not going live for my podcast, I'm recording, so I can edit a lot out, and I do edit, by the way, another C soapbox.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Number three do not riff.
- 33:37Speaker 2: You do not riff on your show.
- 33:38Speaker 2: You edit your show, not for you, because it's work for you.
- 33:41Speaker 2: You edit it for your listeners yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, you do that for them.
- 33:47Speaker 2: So if you're going live, I want to address the live thing.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Since we're live, you can actually pull the plug if it's outrageous.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Oh, you can pull the plug, say you know we're gonna pull the plug because it's your show.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's your stream.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Yep, end it.
- 34:00Speaker 2: If you're unsure and you have that uneasy feeling later, you can go back and delete it.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and you'll take that experience and you'll learn from it and you'll apply it into subsequent ones.
- 34:11Speaker 2: So I have had guests where I have several episodes in the hopper that I'm not going to release because the interviews aren't that great, they just aren aren't.
- 34:19Speaker 2: They aren't that great and I have to decide that.
- 34:22Speaker 2: So heads up a note that when you guest, it's not over until the fat lady really sings, because even though you guest and record until it's actually released, it's not a guesting episode, it's not done.
- 34:35Speaker 2: And a host well, they might be one of the 362 who quit and then it never gets released, which happened to me, by the way, I did a great recording, it was a great episode, and he quit his show.
- 34:46Speaker 2: So it's not going anywhere.
- 34:47Speaker 2: So it's just one of those things it's going to happen to you.
- 34:51Speaker 2: But, yeah, take responsibility, understand what God's calling you to do and take responsibility so that your mission, your message, whoever's on your show is in alignment with how you're serving your audience.
- 35:03Speaker 2: That is your responsibility.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Actually, it's a responsibility God has entrusted to you.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 2: That's how I'd answer that one.
- 35:10Speaker 1: That's good.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Well, dan Rogers, thank you so much, dan.
- 35:13Speaker 1: I just thank you.
- 35:13Speaker 1: I think God's just continuing to open doors for your voice to impact others.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I believe that it's a setup.
- 35:23Speaker 1: It's a setup for you to reach your goal, because God has trusted you with a very precious thing called a voice, and you're leading with excellence.
- 35:29Speaker 1: You have integrity, your values are in line and I just bless you for that.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I thank you for your authenticity, I thank you for your professionalism and I'm excited to see you continue to go to that level of 1 million.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I speak it over you and believe it for you.
- 35:48Speaker 2: So thank you so much.
- 35:50Speaker 2: Thank you A joy, an absolute joy to be with you.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 35:54Speaker 1: If you enjoyed this, please rate it, share it so I can go to other places.
- 36:00Speaker 1: If you want to connect with me, I'm best connected on Instagram at Teresa Croft.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us for this episode of the Second no More podcast.
