Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: So many people, we see them on podcasts and different programs, and they're encouraging people to do this or do that while they're doing nothing.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Well, at this point in life, as I began to actually listen to some of the podcasts that I had actually put out for the world, I began to think, wait a second, how doable is this?
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: When we start talking about activating your next, well, Marcus, you have to do the exact same thing.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: So I took time out to actually do it, to show that it could be done.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: It's not too late, regardless of where you are.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: So we've made it to the second half of life.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: We're in the third quarter now.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: So when you start thinking about your life in quarters, time is actually a currency.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: It's a commodity, and we have to treat it as such.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: The interesting thing is that indecision is not free.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Indecision or failure to move and make a decision actually is costly.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Just as making a decision, sometimes there is a price you have to pay when you make a decision, but there is also a price to be paid for indecision because time is not neutral.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: You will pay, and that's what's powerful.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: That's why we have to make every moment count.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I want you to imagine this.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: If you're in your 20s and there is a five-year delay in making a decision, you actually can recover from that.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Those five years are recoverable when you're in your 20s.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: But when you're in the second half of life, a five-year recovery period can cost you significantly.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Actually, the cost will compound and it will compound in reverse in a negative way.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So it's critical that we're aware.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So I want you to imagine your life being like a bucket of marbles.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So you're walking around now in the second half of life.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: In the first half, you couldn't carry the marbles.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: There were so many marbles.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: You had 70 years ahead to go, right?
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: You're 10, you're 12, you're 15.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: You've got all these years ahead.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You wouldn't even think about carrying the marbles.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: But now, when you make it to the second half of life, you've got a bucket of marbles.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: And each day, one marble comes out of the bucket.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And you have to know that the bucket has a limited number of marbles.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: So you have to treat them with care, with caution, and with concern.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: You have to move with consistency and a commitment, a focus, a clarity, recognizing that there are skills that you have, there are abilities that you've developed, the wisdom, the discernment, the intuition, all of those things over time have been refined.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Those items that you've developed, the personal characteristics to be able to see, to understand, the intuition, the knowledge, the database that you've gathered, the tactical skills, all of those things that you've developed during the first half of your life are your necessary tools.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: They're your weapons in the second half.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And this is why you can have a tremendous impact.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: When we do things in this phase of life, it comes with a greater degree of certainty, clarity, and effectiveness because of the relationships that we've built, the understandings that we've created over time.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: And I'll tell you, you are actually in position to win.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: But the key is to first recognize the need for change.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: You must activate your next.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: The next is not going to happen organically, naturally, without intentionality.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: You are going to have to consciously decide.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I'm going to put something in place to prepare me for the future that is on the horizon.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: I'm so proud of you.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Thank you for tuning in.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Remember, there are only so many marbles in the bucket.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Let's activate our next because we have no time to waste.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: I'll see you on the next episode.
