- 0:01The first time we experience something, it starts to create a
- 0:04groove in our neural network nerves or responsive centers.
- 0:10As the experience recurs, the groove becomes a pathway.
- 0:15Eventually, the pathway becomes an embedded habit.
- 0:19When a similar vibration is experienced, it automatically
- 0:23follows the established patterns, which is why it is
- 0:26harder to break a habit than to avoid starting one to begin
- 0:30with. Many of these habits are
- 0:33embedded deeply in human DNA through many millennia, as well
- 0:37as in the patterns we create as we educate our children and
- 0:41socialize them into the society and it's established ways of
- 0:46doing things. Illness follows a similar
- 0:50pattern as a vibration repeats itself.
- 0:54If there is a past experience, the body immediately knows what
- 0:58kind of illness it is going to be, and the very cells of the
- 1:02body begin vibrating to that pattern.
- 1:05We see certain individuals seem to be prone to certain types of
- 1:09illnesses as they have deeply entrenched patterns of reaction
- 1:13in their bodies that convert the vibration into that form,
- 1:18affecting a specific area of the body.
- 1:21Thus, some people are prone to sinus issues, some to lung
- 1:26issues, some to throat issues, some to digestive issues, some
- 1:31to headaches, etcetera. To overcome these patterns
- 1:35requires conscious awareness. First, one establishes the
- 1:40separate witness consciousness, observing the nature, including
- 1:44the reactions of the body. Then one can observe how these
- 1:49vibrations arrive, what action they take to come through the
- 1:53protective world where they tend to embed themselves, and how
- 1:57they set up their pattern to create what we then call an
- 2:01illness. Once one can observe these
- 2:04various stages, it becomes a matter of finding methods to
- 2:08break the chain of the reaction or pattern at some early point
- 2:12in the process. It is interesting to note that
- 2:16the action of mind and will can play a considerable role in
- 2:20strengthening and supporting both the vital envelope and the
- 2:23physical body. We have historical instances
- 2:28where certain doctors had such a strong will that they entered
- 2:32fearlessly into areas of epidemics and treated patients
- 2:37without themselves becoming I'll.
- 2:39There are also instances where certain physicians exhibit such
- 2:43a strength of healing energy that by their very presence and
- 2:47aura, they help to cure patients of various types of illnesses.
- 2:52Shrioro Bindo recounted the story of how a wandering sanyasi
- 2:57cured his brother of a serious illness.
- 3:00The Sanyasi requested a glass of water, cut it with a knife while
- 3:04intoning a powerful mantra over the water.
- 3:08After drinking the water, the brother was quickly cured of the
- 3:11illness. In this case, even a full blown
- 3:16serious illness could be reversed through the power of
- 3:18consciousness, setting up a new vibrational pattern in the
- 3:22patient. The habit of illness is capable
- 3:26of being changed. People who have a history of
- 3:29certain weakness of the body have shown that over time they
- 3:34can transform this weakness into an indomitable strength, Sri
- 3:40Aurobindo writes quote. What I meant was that the body
- 3:44consciousness, through old habit of consciousness, admits the
- 3:48force of illness and goes through the experiences which
- 3:52are associated with it, For example congestion of phlegm in
- 3:57the chest and feeling of suffocation or difficulty of
- 4:00breathing etcetera. To get rid of that one must
- 4:04awaken a will and consciousness in the body itself that refuses
- 4:09to allow these things to impose themselves upon it.
- 4:13But to get that still more, to get it completely is difficult.
- 4:18One step towards it is to get the inner consciousness separate
- 4:22from the body, to feel that it is not you who are ill, but it's
- 4:26only something taking place in the body and affecting your
- 4:29consciousness. It is then possible to see this
- 4:34separate body consciousness, what it feels, what are its
- 4:38reactions to things, how it works.
- 4:41One can then act on it to change its consciousness and reactions.
