- 1:58Speaker 1: Ver y.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Y. Yeah, yeah, suh.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Hello everybody in welcome to another true crime and wine
- 3:05Speaker 3: time where if you've got the corkscrew, we've got the time.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Oh I like that. Hello, I don't need a quarkscrew tonight.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I just made that up and I it was in
- 3:17Speaker 3: my head. It sounded much better here than here. But yeah, hi, everybody.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Than everyone, I am good. I have to tell you,
- 3:29Speaker 4: Texas is hotter than Hell right now. I bet hell'
- 3:33Speaker 4: scooler than Texas.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I you know, for like two days it was a
- 3:41Speaker 3: beautiful like seventy four to seventy six here, and then
- 3:45Speaker 3: today it popped up till like eighty three, and then
- 3:48Speaker 3: by Sunday it'll be back to like ninety something, I think.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And I want it to go back. I just I
- 3:53Speaker 3: just want to go like I know where we're not
- 3:56Speaker 3: going back is the chance, but I would prefer to
- 3:58Speaker 3: go back to the quiet or the lower temperature, please
- 4:02Speaker 3: and thank you.
- 4:03Speaker 4: I think we were one oh seven or one oh eight,
- 4:07Speaker 4: and that's not feels the temperature, that's actual temperature.
- 4:13Speaker 3: So it's been a while since I've been in Texas,
- 4:16Speaker 3: hopefully not for long, but it but it's not dry right.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Well right, the drier, but now we've got more humidity,
- 4:27Speaker 4: so we've got the humidity going.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Then Double showed up and it wasn't anymore. I'm just.
- 4:39Speaker 4: You always make me laugh.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Make me laugh, the only thing that I've got going
- 4:46Speaker 3: for me.
- 4:47Speaker 4: I loved watching the video because I'm really excited about
- 4:50Speaker 4: my new series, Dearest Mothers.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, meet you.
- 4:54Speaker 4: It's dark, and I didn't think there would be so
- 4:59Speaker 4: many cases. I really didn't. I thought it would be
- 5:03Speaker 4: much more like a short limited series. It's not so short.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's some ATMs. Yeah, that's some kind of what
- 5:15Speaker 3: so like in my head. I know, I know we're
- 5:18Speaker 3: execution happy, we're death row happy here, and then you know,
- 5:22Speaker 3: I finished up writing and I'm recording the women on
- 5:25Speaker 3: death Row, and then we're going to be moving into
- 5:28Speaker 3: juveniles on death Row. And then when I finally get
- 5:31Speaker 3: to the larger population of men on death Row, I
- 5:33Speaker 3: just looked to see how many were there currently, and
- 5:37Speaker 3: the answer was over two thousand. And I realized that
- 5:41Speaker 3: if I did two shows a week like I will
- 5:44Speaker 3: be doing for these for at least this one, I
- 5:47Speaker 3: would have twenty one and a half years of material
- 5:51Speaker 3: and that's ridiculous. So here is hoping that I can
- 5:57Speaker 3: work ahead and then release, you know, four to five
- 6:00Speaker 3: of them a week, because that would be the ultimate goal.
- 6:05Speaker 3: You will not be I will no, none, Nope. You
- 6:09Speaker 3: are immortal. And when you go I'm going to futurama,
- 6:13Speaker 3: you put your head in a jar and you're gonna
- 6:15Speaker 3: be able to talk forever right next to me.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I will beat. That would put me what seventy five?
- 6:21Speaker 4: I don't math. I might need to get the calculator.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I'm fifty four plus twenty one. Okay, yeah, that's seventy five.
- 6:28Speaker 4: I did good.
- 6:31Speaker 3: You done, did good, done, did good. Well. I'm sure
- 6:35Speaker 3: as hell hope everybody else is doing well tonight. I
- 6:38Speaker 3: was I needed tonight. You know. Last night reading the
- 6:41Speaker 3: transcript stuff was good. With the Sarah Boon letters, we
- 6:44Speaker 3: had fun, a lot more interactive than it has been,
- 6:47Speaker 3: and so that was good. But I am very excited
- 6:50Speaker 3: for tonight because our topic is one of your people.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Bless your heart.
- 7:01Speaker 3: It's my heart.
- 7:04Speaker 4: I almost went and pulled out my pearls and was
- 7:09Speaker 4: gonna wear them and dress up like a good Southern
- 7:12Speaker 4: lady so I could clutch my pearls and I decided
- 7:16Speaker 4: it's too hot. I'm staying in this shirt because it's hot.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I don't blame you. I don't blame you. There you go,
- 7:28Speaker 3: there you go. Hey, everybody who just joined us, welcome in.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Should we get into some stupid news we should? Should
- 7:38Speaker 3: I play? Should I play this thing?
- 7:41Speaker 4: I love it? I love.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Oh I know.
- 7:50Speaker 1: A job? What do you think.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Watch the news? Because we see this doing everything I
- 8:00Speaker 4: mean every day.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I don't think this kid taps out on that flora
- 8:05Speaker 3: people wanted to be It's just like, dude, you got
- 8:08Speaker 3: the best pharols ever. Dude, just let out here? Uh,
- 8:12Speaker 3: what's what's the best kind of firework to buy?
- 8:14Speaker 5: Wouldn't you like to know?
- 8:15Speaker 3: Weather boy? Where are your parents? All right? So?
- 8:30Speaker 4: I don't I like that kid?
- 8:35Speaker 3: So does Annie too, also known as a p Annie,
- 8:40Speaker 3: Well my Annie a p Amy and AP and producer
- 8:45Speaker 3: Lama in the house.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Oh we do see, I haven't even looked we do?
- 8:51Speaker 4: You know? I guess we're not going to share what
- 8:54Speaker 4: AP means for everybody since that announcement doesn't come out
- 8:58Speaker 4: quite yet. But we can just let everybody fagure it out.
- 9:02Speaker 3: It's yeah, yeah, maybe lah okay.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Did I just stamp in your sparkle.
- 9:13Speaker 3: No, you did not all my sparkle. Okay, however, this
- 9:17Speaker 3: woman's sparkle has been dulled did. This woman is from
- 9:22Speaker 3: Tasmania and Catherine Lee June fifty eight years old appeared
- 9:26Speaker 3: in Hobart Magistrate's Court on Monday, where she asked for
- 9:30Speaker 3: an adjournment without a plea. She faces three charges under
- 9:34Speaker 3: a Classifications Enforcement Act, including possessing a bestiality product between
- 9:41Speaker 3: February twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three. Why because
- 9:49Speaker 3: she decided to have a sex act with a live
- 9:53Speaker 3: fish on a boat.
- 9:56Speaker 4: You said a fish?
- 9:59Speaker 3: A fish? I did? I did, in fact, more specifically
- 10:03Speaker 3: a trout. Police allege the bestiality product was a video
- 10:10Speaker 3: depicting quote sexual activity between miss Lee and a brown
- 10:14Speaker 3: trout she has, which sounds like a euphemism, but it's not.
- 10:18Speaker 3: She has also been charged with two counts of making
- 10:20Speaker 3: or reproducing a bestiality product during the same period. I
- 10:24Speaker 3: think by product they mean the video, you know. I
- 10:27Speaker 3: think the fish would take offense to that already offense. Yes, afterwards,
- 10:32Speaker 3: I'm sure there was a massive trout pout.
- 10:34Speaker 4: No, I'm trying to forgot my little trout lips.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Yeah, miss Lee was. Miss Lee was granted an adjournment
- 10:46Speaker 3: until October. The woman's co accused, fifty five year old
- 10:50Speaker 3: Ashley David Hollm, faced court in May this year. Mister
- 10:54Speaker 3: Hollam has not entered a plea to his charges, which
- 10:58Speaker 3: include two counts of making or reproduce seeing a bestiality
- 11:00Speaker 3: product in three counts of possessing a bestiality product relating
- 11:04Speaker 3: to a video of alleged activity between miss Lee and
- 11:07Speaker 3: a trout. And all I have to say is, this
- 11:09Speaker 3: is not what they mean by gone fishing.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I I have to say hearing the word bestiality, a
- 11:22Speaker 4: fish never even popped into my little brain as who
- 11:28Speaker 4: the animal would be.
- 11:31Speaker 3: It's okay because it popped into her, you know what.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Never mind never mind mine.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Well, maybe she got into my watermelons. Two tons of
- 11:44Speaker 4: meth disguised as a watermelon. Sees that the border valued
- 11:48Speaker 4: at over five million, Girl, that was the best transition.
- 11:55Speaker 3: That's the best transition ever. We've hit our peak right there.
- 11:59Speaker 3: That is. Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 4: But guys, if you looked at these, you would have
- 12:06Speaker 4: thought it was a massive shipment of pinatas. But they were.
- 12:13Speaker 4: They were it looked like watermelons but instead contained, like
- 12:18Speaker 4: I said, two tons of meth. And this was coming
- 12:21Speaker 4: into the San Diego port. I mean, so there's a water.
- 12:31Speaker 3: So it was definitely a Southern girl who ordered these
- 12:34Speaker 3: meth melons, right, I mean, who else is going to
- 12:38Speaker 3: order watermelons that? I mean, come on now, it's I
- 12:42Speaker 3: certainly not coming from Massachusetts.
- 12:45Speaker 4: No, but just think if one got like separated from
- 12:50Speaker 4: the shipment and it got wound up being sold as
- 12:53Speaker 4: a pinata, and you're at a kid's party and they
- 12:56Speaker 4: hit the pinata and all this myth comes out.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I mean, that would not I'm going to do an
- 13:07Speaker 3: impression of Robin Williams doing an impression of somebody doing
- 13:10Speaker 3: a pinata. A good presence, good presents, and then all
- 13:13Speaker 3: of a sudden, that's a good question. It's a really
- 13:19Speaker 3: good question. The world wants to know, does see.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Well, the company I work for my day job, we
- 13:27Speaker 4: all we call what our product helps is the watermelon effect.
- 13:33Speaker 4: So it's watermelon stuff all over. So that's kind of
- 13:38Speaker 4: funny to think about people having water. Now I'm going
- 13:42Speaker 4: to wonder if they have meth. That's true that the
- 13:48Speaker 4: meth got to that lady, and that's why she was
- 13:51Speaker 4: hanging out with the fish.
- 13:54Speaker 3: That's that's that's ridiculous. Yes, is a little bit.
- 14:03Speaker 4: I have a question about the fish real quick. What
- 14:06Speaker 4: part of the.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Fish was she.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Abusing.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I'm be honest with you. I don't see how the
- 14:13Speaker 3: tail works because you got that fin. That's what I'm assuming.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I'm assuming head to dorsal because you don't want that
- 14:20Speaker 3: fin going in either. So I, at first, that is
- 14:27Speaker 3: not what her mom meant by tackling any problem. At first,
- 14:33Speaker 3: the links links wink scoob and she said I would
- 14:39Speaker 3: have gotten away with it if it wouldn't be for
- 14:41Speaker 3: you meddle some social media. So this one's not as stupid.
- 14:49Speaker 3: But I I think he's stupid and and this is
- 14:52Speaker 3: about Andrew Tait because he's an idiot. A court in
- 14:58Speaker 3: Romania's capital Thursday they placed the divisive internet influencer. I
- 15:03Speaker 3: don't like using the word influencer for this fella. Andrew
- 15:07Speaker 3: Tate under house arrest for thirty days as prosecutors investigate
- 15:11Speaker 3: a sprawling new case that involves allegations of human trafficking
- 15:15Speaker 3: of miners and sex with a minor. The Bucharest Tribunal's
- 15:19Speaker 3: decision comes a day after prosecutors detained six people, including
- 15:23Speaker 3: Tate who's thirty seven really hard to believe, and his
- 15:27Speaker 3: brother Tristan thirty six, after masked police rated four homes
- 15:31Speaker 3: in Bucharest and nearby Ilfo County. Prosecutors had asked the
- 15:36Speaker 3: court to remand the brothers in custody for thirty days.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Tristan's been placed under judicial control, which typically involves geographical
- 15:43Speaker 3: restrictions and reporting periodically to the police. The brother spokesperson,
- 15:49Speaker 3: who if that's your job, I am so sorry, responded
- 15:53Speaker 3: to the decision by saying the judge denied prosecutor's request
- 15:57Speaker 3: due to the brother's exemplary behavior while previously under preventative
- 16:01Speaker 3: arrest measures in a separate case, and that they firmly
- 16:03Speaker 3: deny all the allegations against them. I'm sure they do.
- 16:06Speaker 3: They're both former kickboxers, dual British US citizens awaiting trial
- 16:11Speaker 3: already in Romania on a separate human trafficking case along
- 16:14Speaker 3: with two Romanian women. They were all indicted. They indicted
- 16:20Speaker 3: all four of those people last year. However, in this
- 16:22Speaker 3: new case, Romania's anti organized crime agency, which could only
- 16:28Speaker 3: be pronounced as Die caught Is said, it as investigating
- 16:32Speaker 3: allegations of human trafficking, including the trafficking of a miners,
- 16:36Speaker 3: sexual intercourse with a minor, forming an organized criminal group,
- 16:40Speaker 3: money laundering, and influencing statements. The alleged crimes date between
- 16:46Speaker 3: twenty fourteen and twenty twenty four Great. They yeah, the
- 16:53Speaker 3: defendants used the coercive lover boy method to exploit thirty
- 16:57Speaker 3: four vulnerable victims who were forced to produce pornographic materials
- 17:01Speaker 3: for a fee online. And that more than two point
- 17:04Speaker 3: eight million dollars was generated and it was kept by
- 17:08Speaker 3: the defendants. So Tate, here's the thing. Tate's still on Twitter.
- 17:17Speaker 3: He's got nine point nine million followers. He's misogynistic, he's
- 17:22Speaker 3: into political conspiracies. He's been previously banned from all kinds
- 17:27Speaker 3: of social media, but of course you know he's been
- 17:29Speaker 3: back on x and so he's Yeah, he's an idiot.
- 17:36Speaker 3: So during the raids, they scoured the Tate brothers large
- 17:38Speaker 3: property near Bucharest. They seized They see sixteen luxury vehicles,
- 17:43Speaker 3: a motorbike, laptops, thousands of dollars in cash, luxury wallets
- 17:47Speaker 3: and data storage drives. Good luck, buddy, because I promise
- 17:50Speaker 3: you you are not smart enough to actually erase things
- 17:53Speaker 3: off of those data drives. Da da da da. So
- 17:59Speaker 3: we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I really
- 18:03Speaker 3: wish they'd already be in jail so that none of
- 18:05Speaker 3: this had to happen again. But here we are, right, the.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Fact that they were out is a problem. You know,
- 18:14Speaker 4: it's even gonna be worse exactly if somehow they come
- 18:18Speaker 4: back to the US and you know, he runs for president.
- 18:24Speaker 4: You know, at this point, I mean, we let anybody
- 18:27Speaker 4: run for president. So I won't get all political, but
- 18:30Speaker 4: it just made me think.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I think I need listen. Ever, you ever, well, if
- 18:41Speaker 3: anybody's ever done the whole updating thing, swipe left, swipe right,
- 18:44Speaker 3: I would imagine at some point you swipe, you swipe,
- 18:46Speaker 3: and then your finger goes the wrong way and you
- 18:47Speaker 3: accidentally swipe white right instead of left. I think that's
- 18:50Speaker 3: what's happened recently, is somebody accidentally swipe right and they
- 18:54Speaker 3: should have swiped left. Anyways, let's talk about today and
- 19:00Speaker 3: what we're drinking, shall we.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I had to open it. I was at Costco with
- 19:07Speaker 4: ub bleach, and I said, oh, I need to grab
- 19:09Speaker 4: something for tomorrow night at Southern Girls. I was like, oh,
- 19:13Speaker 4: what am I gonna get? So I got Costco Rose.
- 19:17Speaker 4: We will see you what it tastes like, because I
- 19:20Speaker 4: don't know.
- 19:22Speaker 3: We'll see you're you're doing better than me, because I
- 19:26Speaker 3: don't think I can even finish this class because as
- 19:31Speaker 3: you can see over here, you know fully transparent whoops
- 19:37Speaker 3: box wine, which actually box wine can be great. This
- 19:39Speaker 3: actually was good when it was opened a year ago. However,
- 19:44Speaker 3: this is not very good anymore at all. Also, that
- 19:49Speaker 3: is quite awkward.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Remember we're supposed to start trying to read out these comments.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's right, Captain said, go ahead, okay. CATN said,
- 20:04Speaker 3: I accidentally swiped up on a friend's boyfriend when I
- 20:07Speaker 3: found their secret tender account. And apparently she says swiping
- 20:14Speaker 3: up means super like.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Oh now, I've often wanted to ask double h, Hey,
- 20:21Speaker 4: can we sit here and let me open a tender account?
- 20:24Speaker 4: You to sit next to me, and that's just swipe
- 20:26Speaker 4: through them together, because I just want to see what
- 20:28Speaker 4: it's like. I almost feel like I'm missing out because
- 20:32Speaker 4: I have no idea what goes on on these things.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a lot like you could just
- 20:42Speaker 3: sign up for a free truth social account. At this point,
- 20:45Speaker 3: I think it's a dating app. That's no.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Nope, nope, nope, can't do it, can't do it. Yes,
- 20:54Speaker 4: Loma wine can go bad. Wine that's been opened for
- 21:01Speaker 4: a year should not be drunk. I wouldn't cook with.
- 21:05Speaker 3: It either, choice, I wouldn't say it's a good choice. Anyways,
- 21:08Speaker 3: it was good, Peter Vella Vineyards, it's not your fault
- 21:11Speaker 3: that still isous. Red has gone terrible, but I did
- 21:15Speaker 3: bring it back up. But it's not wine, it's you know,
- 21:19Speaker 3: truly hard Seltzer. Feel free to sponsor us.
- 21:22Speaker 4: But somethern girls would drink that, So you can just
- 21:26Speaker 4: be a se and like I even white drunk and
- 21:31Speaker 4: a nice little bubble fruit fruit glass, so I could
- 21:33Speaker 4: be a Southern lady.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I love it.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Bless your heart.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I bless your heart.
- 21:44Speaker 4: All right, are we ready to get into some crazy stuff?
- 21:51Speaker 3: Let's get into it.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Okay, Now I need to remind everybody this episode contains
- 21:56Speaker 4: graphic content, adult language. It may not be suitable for
- 22:00Speaker 4: all listeners. Also, Terry might drop an f barm, so
- 22:04Speaker 4: be prepared. How about that. I made sure we're covered
- 22:09Speaker 4: drink a little. Yeah, drinking be fine. So today I'm
- 22:16Speaker 4: here to tell us about Judith and Neale. She was
- 22:20Speaker 4: born on June seventh, nineteen sixty four. And somebody's gonna
- 22:25Speaker 4: at me, and I'm going to just say, I'm going
- 22:27Speaker 4: to try my best. Murphrey's Burrow, Tennessee, murph burrowes born?
- 22:37Speaker 3: Who? Who? Who has like a Tennessee accent?
- 22:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know how to say Murphy's Burrow, Tennessee.
- 22:47Speaker 4: I don't know, but that's the best I can do.
- 22:50Speaker 3: So she was born Murphy.
- 22:55Speaker 4: She was born to a housewife and a father who
- 22:57Speaker 4: worked in construction. Now had two older siblings and two
- 23:01Speaker 4: younger siblings, which means she was right in the middle.
- 23:05Speaker 4: She had a pretty typical childhood up until her father
- 23:09Speaker 4: was killed in nineteen seventy four and a motorcycle wreck. Guys,
- 23:13Speaker 4: that's hard. After her father's death, mother started inviting men
- 23:18Speaker 4: over for sex, because that's what asylum does, you know,
- 23:24Speaker 4: in nineteen seventy four, because you remember, in nineteen seventy four,
- 23:28Speaker 4: women still needed their husband or their father's permission to
- 23:33Speaker 4: get credit cards. So and she was a housewife. She
- 23:37Speaker 4: didn't have a job, so she was inviting men over
- 23:40Speaker 4: for sex, so I now vaulting her. But sadly, Jude,
- 23:47Speaker 4: the life that she previously knew was over, which I
- 23:52Speaker 4: think your life changes a lot anyway if a parent dies.
- 23:56Speaker 4: But she met Alvin who was six years her senior,
- 24:01Speaker 4: which isn't bad, right, that's me and double. But she
- 24:05Speaker 4: was only fifteen years.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Old, that's less okay.
- 24:10Speaker 4: And he was married and he had children or less. Yeah,
- 24:15Speaker 4: he was married and he had children at the time.
- 24:18Speaker 4: But he ended his marriage, left his children behind, and
- 24:24Speaker 4: went off with Judith.
- 24:27Speaker 3: What a winner, That's all I was.
- 24:28Speaker 4: You were saying, yeah, he's a loser right now, Yes,
- 24:32Speaker 4: said that. Judith found Alvin's criminal lifestyle exciting. It turned
- 24:41Speaker 4: her on and she wanted to be a part of it.
- 24:45Speaker 3: There are parallels between our cases accidentally, So yep, are
- 24:51Speaker 3: you ready?
- 24:52Speaker 4: Because Judith became pregnant at the age of sixteen, Okay,
- 25:00Speaker 4: all right, you know what I'm going to just say,
- 25:03Speaker 4: I must not do math very well. He was more
- 25:07Speaker 4: than six years older, because if she was sixteen when
- 25:10Speaker 4: she got pregnant, she married him, and he was twenty seven,
- 25:18Speaker 4: that's eleven years old or not six.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I mean listen to each to each their own. You know,
- 25:25Speaker 3: if you find love and they're older, green however, right, right, right,
- 25:28Speaker 3: that's what I'm saying. Like, at that point, it stops
- 25:32Speaker 3: being me saying you do you?
- 25:37Speaker 4: And that's why my next comment is, hello, what the fuck?
- 25:41Speaker 4: Didn't anyone see a problem with this?
- 25:46Speaker 3: That's great? No, not in Tennessee. Oh man.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Yeah. So now, right after getting married and while still pregnant,
- 25:56Speaker 4: Judith and Alvin decided to commit an armed robbery, as
- 26:00Speaker 4: the wind does, right. Judith was the rest of the
- 26:03Speaker 4: day after the robbery while trying to cash a stolen check.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Steal a check, so now we're going to cash it, right,
- 26:12Speaker 4: But she was only sixteen, so the courts put her
- 26:16Speaker 4: into the custody of the Rome Youth Development Center. So
- 26:20Speaker 4: they went easy on her because she was pregnant and sixteen,
- 26:26Speaker 4: and just two days later she gave birth to twins.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Oh my god, committed an armed robbery as she was
- 26:35Speaker 4: literally about to drop two kids.
- 26:41Speaker 3: I mean, she said, scrap in, I'm making all the
- 26:45Speaker 3: use of the time I've got before you come out.
- 26:48Speaker 4: I'm like, has she not heard about nesting?
- 26:52Speaker 3: No? No, no, she thought this was a great way
- 26:55Speaker 3: for her water to break.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess, but the twins. Of course, we're immediately
- 27:01Speaker 4: removed from her care and we're placed with Alvin's mother,
- 27:05Speaker 4: which I don't know Alvin's mother. I'm glad the kids
- 27:10Speaker 4: didn't go into the foster system. But your son's twenty
- 27:14Speaker 4: seven and you didn't do such a good job with him.
- 27:21Speaker 3: All I can think of every time you say his
- 27:23Speaker 3: name is Albn.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I thought about that because I bet she screamed that
- 27:30Speaker 4: a lot. And guys, I'm sorry, my nose, all my apollergies. Now,
- 27:37Speaker 4: Alvin was sentenced to five years in prison for his
- 27:40Speaker 4: part in the robbery and check fraud. Guys, five years
- 27:43Speaker 4: for armed robbery doesn't seem like a lot to me.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Armed means you have a weapon.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Right, Well, I mean I've got two, So you've got
- 27:56Speaker 3: two weapons, got two arms, I'm armed. Okay, it didn't
- 28:03Speaker 3: play well.
- 28:04Speaker 4: That's exact, but that's okay.
- 28:08Speaker 3: You really you probably are better for it.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Or at this point I would say, ah, he's so pretty,
- 28:18Speaker 4: bless your southern voice. No. Judith was in the care
- 28:23Speaker 4: of the Youth Development Center while Alvin was in prison,
- 28:26Speaker 4: but the two wrote letters back and forth in Judas's letters.
- 28:30Speaker 4: She told Alvin about the abuse she was suffering and
- 28:33Speaker 4: how she was sexually assaulted, which is horrifying. Alvin promised
- 28:39Speaker 4: Judith that they would get revenge for what was being
- 28:42Speaker 4: done to her once he got out. So Judith was
- 28:46Speaker 4: released from the youth center in November of nineteen eighty
- 28:49Speaker 4: one and moved in with Alvin's parents and her twins.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that sounds like a sitcom, I know.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Like album was released in April of nineteen eighty two.
- 29:04Speaker 4: So the two were reunited, reunited and it feels so good.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Nice sim two men and a baby. It's like two
- 29:15Speaker 3: felons and some twins.
- 29:18Speaker 4: Well, she wasn't a felon because remember they put her
- 29:20Speaker 4: in the youth center.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Two yeah, you right, I got nothing, Okay.
- 29:28Speaker 4: So now remember he got out in April. And then
- 29:31Speaker 4: in September of nineteen eighty two, Kim Dooley, who was
- 29:35Speaker 4: employed at the youth center where Judith had been held,
- 29:38Speaker 4: was at home with his wife when the phone rang.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Sharie answered the call and on the line was a female,
- 29:46Speaker 4: same female who just called a couple of days before,
- 29:49Speaker 4: asking for ken. I know all of us women are
- 29:53Speaker 4: going A woman, same woman, calls a second time. Yeah,
- 29:57Speaker 4: we're gonna have to throw it on. But when Kin
- 30:03Speaker 4: picked up the line, he heard a male say, you've
- 30:08Speaker 4: screwed the last girl you're going to screw, and you're
- 30:12Speaker 4: going to pay. Ken tried to get the call to
- 30:18Speaker 4: tell him their name, but they hung up, so the female.
- 30:21Speaker 3: That's not how that works, and when he went.
- 30:24Speaker 4: To when he got on the line, the female handed
- 30:28Speaker 4: the phone to the mail Now Ken hung up the
- 30:33Speaker 4: phone and went into check on his sleeping kids before
- 30:35Speaker 4: going to bed. While checking on the children, he heard
- 30:38Speaker 4: sounds popping, sounds that he thought was a car backfiring,
- 30:42Speaker 4: but then he heard his wife scream someone is shooting
- 30:46Speaker 4: at the house.
- 30:51Speaker 3: The house.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Ken ran outside, but the car drove off. Ken and
- 30:55Speaker 4: his wife called the police, who responded and collected the
- 30:59Speaker 4: bullet case and talked to neighbors, but could not find
- 31:02Speaker 4: anyone who saw the car with the shooter. Now Ken
- 31:06Speaker 4: did what a responsible employee should do. He told his
- 31:11Speaker 4: employer what happened the next day, just in case it
- 31:14Speaker 4: was related to where he worked, and they told him
- 31:17Speaker 4: just to keep it to himself and not upset the
- 31:20Speaker 4: rest of the staff.
- 31:22Speaker 3: He was honest, and they go exactly, don't speak.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I'm like, it doesn't work that way, not when you're
- 31:36Speaker 4: working in that kind of environment.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Wha.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Just two days later, Linda, another employee at the youth center,
- 31:44Speaker 4: was at home when the phone rang. Her husband answered,
- 31:47Speaker 4: and a female asked if Flinda was home. When Linda
- 31:50Speaker 4: picked up the phone, the caller hung up, thinking it
- 31:54Speaker 4: was just a typical prank call. The couple went about
- 31:58Speaker 4: their nightly business. I just started preparing a roast for
- 32:02Speaker 4: the next day's dinner while her husband went off to
- 32:05Speaker 4: take a shower. Guys, I just have to confess. I
- 32:10Speaker 4: finished the script and made tweaks to it this weekend,
- 32:13Speaker 4: and then I cooked a roast because I really wanted
- 32:16Speaker 4: after talking it was really good. So while preparing the roast, what.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Oh, I was saying, you you read that sentence, and
- 32:32Speaker 3: I was like, I really want to go take a shower, So,
- 32:36Speaker 3: I mean.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Well, typical man. While preparing the roast, she heard the
- 32:42Speaker 4: phone ring, and at the same time, someone started knocking
- 32:46Speaker 4: at the back door, So she was trying to decide
- 32:50Speaker 4: do I answer the phone or the door. So Linda
- 32:55Speaker 4: looked outside the window and saw flames overtaking their car port.
- 33:01Speaker 4: But outside of the back door, she saw a young
- 33:04Speaker 4: boy knocking, but she decided to go ahead and answer
- 33:07Speaker 4: the phone. It was her neighbor calling to tell her
- 33:12Speaker 4: she had just seen someone throw a bomb at the house.
- 33:16Speaker 4: So I just have to tell you somebody is knocking
- 33:20Speaker 4: on my door. My phone's ringing, and I see flames
- 33:23Speaker 4: outside of my house. I'm not touching the phone. I'm
- 33:27Speaker 4: grabbing that little boy and taking off running.
- 33:29Speaker 3: But that's just me, especially since it was like probably
- 33:33Speaker 3: a rotary dial with one of those long twirly chords
- 33:37Speaker 3: you know, for those of you playing the young game,
- 33:39Speaker 3: there used to be chords.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Oh yes. But when the police arrived, the boy told
- 33:45Speaker 4: the police that he had seen a brown car with
- 33:48Speaker 4: white or silver striped speed off after the bomb went off.
- 33:51Speaker 4: He told the officers that there were two people in
- 33:53Speaker 4: the car, one a man and one a lady. Now,
- 33:59Speaker 4: while the phone rang again, and when she answered it,
- 34:04Speaker 4: a female said, I'm calling about the shooting at kN
- 34:08Speaker 4: Dooley's house last night and the attempted firebombing of your
- 34:12Speaker 4: house tonight, and guess what, you will both be dead
- 34:16Speaker 4: before the night is over.
- 34:20Speaker 3: I want to play a game and.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Just remember Ken didn't tell anybody at work, so nobody
- 34:25Speaker 4: could be warmed, you know, warned. So Linda did the
- 34:30Speaker 4: right thing. She immediately called Ken and asked about the shooting.
- 34:33Speaker 4: The two could not figure out who would want to
- 34:35Speaker 4: hurt them, and the police had been listening to Linda's
- 34:39Speaker 4: call with Ken, and when she hung up, they played
- 34:42Speaker 4: a nine to one one call that had come in.
- 34:45Speaker 4: The caller was calling about the shooting and the firebomb
- 34:48Speaker 4: and said that they were because of the sexual abuse
- 34:53Speaker 4: she had suffered while at the youth home.
- 34:57Speaker 3: That that rings for suspects here. Yeah.
- 35:02Speaker 4: Now, neither Ken nor Linda could identify the caller's voice
- 35:07Speaker 4: and the case went cold.
- 35:09Speaker 5: What's what.
- 35:12Speaker 4: It called?
- 35:13Speaker 3: They know what they did?
- 35:17Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 35:18Speaker 4: The couple then decided to head to make in Georgia
- 35:22Speaker 4: as Judith and I should say Judith and Alvin headed
- 35:26Speaker 4: to make in Georgia as Judith was not finished getting
- 35:29Speaker 4: her revenge on the way to make and they stopped
- 35:32Speaker 4: and purchased liquid Draino and Liquid Plumber along with sir ringes.
- 35:40Speaker 3: New ranges.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Yeah, so Judith wanted to get her revenge against one
- 35:50Speaker 4: of the security staff members from the youth center, but
- 35:53Speaker 4: was unable to meet up, so the couple returned back
- 35:56Speaker 4: to Rome, Georgia. So luckily it didn't happen, so dude
- 36:01Speaker 4: probably lived. However, on September twenty fifth, nineteen eighty two,
- 36:08Speaker 4: Judith Lurd thirteen year old Lisa and Milliken away from
- 36:13Speaker 4: the River Ben Mall where she had been with a
- 36:15Speaker 4: group of girls enjoying a day out, and when Lisa
- 36:19Speaker 4: didn't return to the meeting spot, the girl chaperone grew
- 36:23Speaker 4: concerned and called the police. The police, as they always do,
- 36:30Speaker 4: initially thought Lisa had run away. So the reason there
- 36:34Speaker 4: was a girl chaperone is because she had been sent
- 36:36Speaker 4: to a girl's home, not because she was a problem teenager,
- 36:40Speaker 4: but because her home was not suitable for her to
- 36:44Speaker 4: live in due to the abuse she suffered at home,
- 36:47Speaker 4: so they put her there instead of into the foster system.
- 36:53Speaker 4: But the police searched the area for Lisa, but they
- 36:56Speaker 4: did not find any trace. Several days later, the police
- 37:00Speaker 4: received a phone call telling them to go to Little
- 37:03Speaker 4: River Canyon in Alabama and that they would find Lisa
- 37:07Speaker 4: and Milliken where she had been left. The police searched
- 37:12Speaker 4: the area the caller gave, but they were unable to
- 37:15Speaker 4: find anything, and they assumed it was a sick joke. So,
- 37:20Speaker 4: interestingly enough, the lady who called the police station also
- 37:23Speaker 4: called the local news station with the tip about a
- 37:27Speaker 4: girl who ran away from a girl's home and that
- 37:30Speaker 4: she had been killed by a female juvenile officer from
- 37:35Speaker 4: the girls home, and that Lisa's body was in Little
- 37:39Speaker 4: River Canyon in Alabama. The caller told the reporter that
- 37:43Speaker 4: Lisa had been shot and then hung up. So the
- 37:49Speaker 4: reporter went to the police station with the tip she
- 37:51Speaker 4: had received. After, I mean they confirmed, Hey, yeah, we
- 37:55Speaker 4: got that same prank call. They did nothing. So the
- 38:00Speaker 4: next day d Cab County Police and Alabama received a
- 38:03Speaker 4: call saying, if you want to know where the girl's
- 38:06Speaker 4: body is, I will tell you. She then told the
- 38:09Speaker 4: officer that if they went to the canyon where the
- 38:12Speaker 4: power lines go across, you will find a body with
- 38:15Speaker 4: a bullet in it, and then the collar hung up. Guys,
- 38:23Speaker 4: I'm going to just tell you, these cops really need
- 38:26Speaker 4: to you know. So the DCAB police did do the
- 38:31Speaker 4: right thing. They called in the state troopers and they
- 38:33Speaker 4: went to the canyon and at the canyon, one of
- 38:36Speaker 4: the officers kind of looked over the edge down into
- 38:39Speaker 4: the canyon and he saw the body of a young girl,
- 38:43Speaker 4: So Lisa and Milliken was found. She had been shot
- 38:48Speaker 4: in the back, but also had puncture wounds in her neck.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Not far from where her body was discovered, police found
- 38:56Speaker 4: a handtwel in syringes wrapped inside a pair of lady jeans.
- 39:02Speaker 3: So, so, I just I want to sum up here,
- 39:08Speaker 3: Judith has suffered abuse at this home and so to
- 39:16Speaker 3: get back at officer or whoever, she abducted a child
- 39:25Speaker 3: around the same age. She was probably tortured and killed her. Yeah,
- 39:32Speaker 3: Jesus tortured and killed her to prove a point.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Oh it gets worse.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Oh boy, it gets worse.
- 39:41Speaker 4: So yeah, so just yeah, Now, the Cab police called
- 39:46Speaker 4: the Rome police because Rome did nothing, and then they
- 39:50Speaker 4: realized that the lady had called both police stations and
- 39:53Speaker 4: the news station was the same person, and they somehow
- 39:58Speaker 4: connected the calls to the shooting at kins house and
- 40:00Speaker 4: the fire bomb at Linda's and that led them to
- 40:03Speaker 4: believe that the Rome Youth Center was the common denominator. Duh,
- 40:09Speaker 4: I mean, it's like, hello, plus she tried to frame
- 40:14Speaker 4: I don't like she tried to frame another officer. Hello
- 40:17Speaker 4: are you idiots have another donut. Anyway, they decided they
- 40:21Speaker 4: needed to look into the females that had recently been
- 40:31Speaker 4: released from the center who might be angry. Now. While
- 40:34Speaker 4: they were investigating the girls from the center, they got
- 40:37Speaker 4: the results back from the syringes, which showed they had
- 40:41Speaker 4: contained liquid, drain and cleaner. God, can you imagine. I
- 40:48Speaker 4: hope they shot her first. That's I mean, I hope,
- 40:52Speaker 4: But it gets worse. While looking at the girls from
- 40:55Speaker 4: the U Center, the police narrowed it down to an
- 40:58Speaker 4: eighteen year old who got released and they thought could
- 41:00Speaker 4: be angry enough to commit these horrific crimes. Judith Neeley
- 41:05Speaker 4: to the stage, Please, Judith Neeley to the stage, now, guys,
- 41:11Speaker 4: hold on. Lisa's autopsy results showed that she had been tortured, raped,
- 41:17Speaker 4: and then killed. So they didn't just shoot her and
- 41:21Speaker 4: then inject her with syringes. They also tortured her and
- 41:23Speaker 4: raped her, so the police begin searching for Judith. So
- 41:31Speaker 4: while searching for Judith, they received a call about a
- 41:33Speaker 4: woman trying to convince young girls to go off driving
- 41:37Speaker 4: with her. Thankfully, the young girl who alerted police had
- 41:42Speaker 4: declined to get in the woman's car and went off
- 41:45Speaker 4: on her way.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Thank god, right range your mother truck in danger.
- 41:50Speaker 4: But not long after, Jennie Chapman and her fiancee John Hancock. Yes,
- 41:57Speaker 4: his name is John Hancock. Do is John Hancock? Anyway?
- 42:04Speaker 3: You definitely has the thignature, that's for sure.
- 42:07Speaker 4: Yeah. And they were walking home when they were approached
- 42:10Speaker 4: by a woman who said she was lonely and just
- 42:13Speaker 4: out driving around. She convinced the couple to get in
- 42:16Speaker 4: the car with her.
- 42:20Speaker 3: I am so lonely, I have no body to call
- 42:25Speaker 3: my own. Okay, so get.
- 42:29Speaker 4: In my car. So now, Once Jonis and John got
- 42:33Speaker 4: into the car, Judith contacted a mail on the Cbee
- 42:37Speaker 4: named night Rider. Okay, guys, I gotta suck a second.
- 42:42Speaker 4: We're gonna get to night Rider. But do you remember
- 42:46Speaker 4: Cbe radios? Yes, because my mom we had one in
- 42:53Speaker 4: our home and then my parents had him in the
- 42:55Speaker 4: car and all of our family had handles. I mean,
- 42:59Speaker 4: my mom was else C for Lady Coffee Cup, my
- 43:04Speaker 4: dad was broken Arrow, my brother was little Cooney, and
- 43:08Speaker 4: I was sweep Fender.
- 43:11Speaker 3: So that's so here's the thing. I think in Texas,
- 43:17Speaker 3: you guys literally had Cebee radios up here. Folks, had
- 43:21Speaker 3: Cebee radios and like from where I kind of grew
- 43:24Speaker 3: up in different places, but they were they like had
- 43:27Speaker 3: them ironically, like let me just turn them on and
- 43:29Speaker 3: see if I can catch somebody talking, but not like
- 43:32Speaker 3: to actually do anything with them. Captain said Cebee radios
- 43:38Speaker 3: interfered with her high school's intercom system and it was hilarious.
- 43:42Speaker 4: I mean, my mom got to know some of the
- 43:46Speaker 4: truck drivers that she talked to on the Cebee Rodeo
- 43:49Speaker 4: Seebe Radio. They would meet at Denny's on Friday and
- 43:52Speaker 4: have coffee together. They would like chat and I'll never
- 43:56Speaker 4: forget one time we were traveling up to Corpus Chris
- 44:00Speaker 4: and my mom was on the CB and they all
- 44:03Speaker 4: heard that LCC was driving. All of a sudden, these
- 44:07Speaker 4: trucks would drive by and they're like, oh, I see you,
- 44:09Speaker 4: LCC and they would wave and it was like, now
- 44:13Speaker 4: that I'm older and I know that some people who
- 44:16Speaker 4: drive eighteen wheelers maybe do bad things, but it was
- 44:23Speaker 4: pretty cool. So it was my version of the first
- 44:25Speaker 4: cell phone. But we'll get back to my southern girl.
- 44:29Speaker 4: So when Judith was talking with night Rider and all
- 44:32Speaker 4: I could think about was Hasselhoff was hot back then
- 44:41Speaker 4: he was hot when he had kid. Do you not agree?
- 44:49Speaker 3: Oh, it's not that I don't agree. I did. I
- 44:51Speaker 3: just I listen. I did. We were talking about truckers
- 44:53Speaker 3: and being dangerous, and I did a quick goog and
- 44:56Speaker 3: apparently FBI Highway Serial Killings Initiative estimates haul truckers are
- 45:00Speaker 3: behind an astonishing eight hundred and fifty murders. So you're
- 45:04Speaker 3: not wrong.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Because you don't have to do criminal background checks.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Nope for nope. Really easy to have a mobile torture chamber.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Yeah. So, but she was talking with a night rider
- 45:17Speaker 4: on the CB and she asked if they could all
- 45:19Speaker 4: hang out. The four met up, and then the men
- 45:22Speaker 4: decided to get in one car and the ladies in
- 45:24Speaker 4: the other and then follow each other. The four decided
- 45:28Speaker 4: to go look for some moonshine and to find a
- 45:32Speaker 4: place to party.
- 45:36Speaker 3: We're gonna have a real hoe down.
- 45:38Speaker 4: They were getting jud to get off the floor. Now
- 45:42Speaker 4: John needed to go to the restroom, so the two
- 45:44Speaker 4: cars pulled over, and while this was happening, Judith restrained
- 45:49Speaker 4: Janice in her car, and while John was going to
- 45:53Speaker 4: the restroom. By the side of the road, night rider
- 45:56Speaker 4: pulled out a gun and shot him, and night Writer
- 46:01Speaker 4: and Judith each jumped into their cars and took off. Now,
- 46:06Speaker 4: luckily for John, he was not killed. He was able
- 46:11Speaker 4: to flag down a truck and was taken to the hospital.
- 46:14Speaker 4: And the police met John at the hospital to get
- 46:16Speaker 4: a story, and they were somewhat skeptical of his story,
- 46:21Speaker 4: but they're like, okay, I'll do my job and take
- 46:23Speaker 4: the report.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Anyway, How hard is it just to try to believe?
- 46:29Speaker 3: Why would somebody made that up?
- 46:31Speaker 4: Exactly? It's not like we had criminal minds on TV
- 46:34Speaker 4: back then, oh you know.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Uh so.
- 46:38Speaker 4: But the next day John went to the police station
- 46:41Speaker 4: and as he was walking by a desk heading to
- 46:44Speaker 4: where he was going, he heard an audio tape being
- 46:47Speaker 4: played and he stopped and he said, Hey, that's the
- 46:51Speaker 4: woman last night he was with us when I got shot.
- 46:56Speaker 4: He had recognized her voice, and then when he met
- 47:00Speaker 4: with a sketch artist, he was able to give enough
- 47:03Speaker 4: information that made the two composites, and a couple of
- 47:08Speaker 4: days later, the police showed John a photo lineup and
- 47:11Speaker 4: John was able to identify Judith and night Writer is
- 47:16Speaker 4: was Alvin Neely.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Alvin Nightwriter Neely alver.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Over I just hear double to the background, good, we
- 47:32Speaker 4: need to talk. It's like bullshit, do we need to talk?
- 47:35Speaker 4: And he's all the phone with somebody. Oh, but the
- 47:42Speaker 4: police obtained and arrest weren't for the couple.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Now.
- 47:46Speaker 4: On October ninth, police went to a motel and they
- 47:49Speaker 4: were able to arrest Judith. However, they did not tell
- 47:53Speaker 4: her she was being arrested for kidnapping. Instead, they told
- 47:57Speaker 4: her she was being arrested for passing bad checks. Also true, guys,
- 48:04Speaker 4: guess what. Judith was pregnant when they arrested her. So
- 48:09Speaker 4: she was outdoor robbery is right before she had a baby.
- 48:13Speaker 4: She's pregnant again.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Robbery murders.
- 48:17Speaker 4: She was arrested on hot checks. Her not so smart
- 48:21Speaker 4: a husband showed up to visit her in jail and
- 48:26Speaker 4: was arrested. They said, the pretty hell for it?
- 48:32Speaker 3: Do I need to play the stupid news thing again?
- 48:34Speaker 3: Because I feel like I need to play the stupid
- 48:36Speaker 3: news thing again?
- 48:37Speaker 4: Like, dude, what you don't go anywhere near a police
- 48:41Speaker 4: station when you've just committed murder? Right now? The police
- 48:48Speaker 4: searched the couple's moto matel rooms, the car, and the
- 48:52Speaker 4: family member's houses, where they studied sometimes and hung out
- 48:55Speaker 4: because police were still searching for Janice. However, all they
- 48:59Speaker 4: found were guns, handcuffs, and their cbe radios no. Now,
- 49:07Speaker 4: during Judas interrogation, police said she was cold hearted and
- 49:12Speaker 4: showed zero emotions, but she admitted to picking up Janis
- 49:16Speaker 4: and John into shooting John. Then she went on to
- 49:23Speaker 4: describe in detail the torture that she did to Janice
- 49:30Speaker 4: and then confessed that she shot her multiple times. Yeah,
- 49:37Speaker 4: I mean she described the brutal sexual assault in torture
- 49:43Speaker 4: that she made Lisa go through before being killed. Now,
- 49:46Speaker 4: during Judas police questioning, she told police that her two
- 49:49Speaker 4: kids were in the car with her along with Lisa
- 49:55Speaker 4: when she did this to Lisa. Did you hear me?
- 50:01Speaker 4: I mean, like, what actual right? I mean, you take
- 50:08Speaker 4: two kids with you, Your twins are in the car
- 50:11Speaker 4: as you brutally sexually assault a woman and kill her.
- 50:18Speaker 4: I mean, that's some serious I don't even know what
- 50:21Speaker 4: you call that.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Childhood trauma. It's serious childhood trauma.
- 50:27Speaker 4: I mean. Now, when it came time for Judas trial
- 50:30Speaker 4: for the murder charges for Lisa and Millican, her story changed,
- 50:35Speaker 4: and of course she blamed everything on her husband and
- 50:39Speaker 4: is reported that while on the stand, Judith laid her
- 50:41Speaker 4: head down and it sounded like she was crying. She's
- 50:46Speaker 4: pulling a Jodi Arias. However, when the judge told her
- 50:48Speaker 4: to lift her head up and face the court, there
- 50:51Speaker 4: was zero tears.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Yep, so little shoulder movements, yeah, a little sniffant and yeah. Yeah.
- 51:04Speaker 4: The jury found Judith guilty and she was sentenced to death.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Judy was only eighteen and was the youngest woman at
- 51:11Speaker 4: the time sentenced to death. However, this was later overturned
- 51:15Speaker 4: and she was sentenced to life in prison without pearl.
- 51:21Speaker 4: And she was sent to Alabama for her crimes there,
- 51:23Speaker 4: and she pled guilty and was sentenced to life without parole. There.
- 51:27Speaker 4: In nineteen ninety nine, the governor commuted judas sentence to
- 51:31Speaker 4: life with the possibility of parole. I mean, come again, Yeah,
- 51:38Speaker 4: the family was in an uproar and so is the
- 51:41Speaker 4: community because why but she was eligible for parole in
- 51:48Speaker 4: twenty eighteen and parole was denied. She was again eligible
- 51:53Speaker 4: in May of last year, but her parole was denied
- 51:56Speaker 4: and she remains in prison. Her next eligible is May
- 52:00Speaker 4: of twenty twenty eight, which I have to tell you, guys.
- 52:04Speaker 4: The fact that they're even holding parole hearings for her
- 52:08Speaker 4: is damaging the families so much and causing them so
- 52:12Speaker 4: much more pain. Because here's the thing. If she was
- 52:15Speaker 4: granted parole, there is still a warrant for her for
- 52:21Speaker 4: the life sentences she was given for the other cases.
- 52:25Speaker 4: So why even do a parole hearing when she's just
- 52:29Speaker 4: going to go to another state and go to prison.
- 52:33Speaker 3: It it boggles the mind, doesn't it bogles.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Don't understand why you're retraumatizing the fam I mean to me,
- 52:45Speaker 4: it's just it's insane. Now, I will say most of
- 52:50Speaker 4: us do crazy things when we are eighteen, and especially
- 52:55Speaker 4: for love. But I want to publicly announce I can
- 53:02Speaker 4: promise you murder and torture never crossed my mind for love,
- 53:10Speaker 4: for anything.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I mean maybe afterwards when it went bad, sure, but
- 53:15Speaker 3: not for it.
- 53:17Speaker 4: Not even then, because from a very young age that
- 53:23Speaker 4: I do not look at an orange and I would
- 53:28Speaker 4: not do well into prison because I would become Bertha's bitch.
- 53:35Speaker 3: I mean, no, we could be so unlucky, we should
- 53:40Speaker 3: be so unlucky.
- 53:43Speaker 4: But that is my case. That is that is a story,
- 53:50Speaker 4: the details of the torture because guys. It it was horrific.
- 53:57Speaker 4: It was. Some of it was as dark as this
- 54:01Speaker 4: dearest mother stuff.
- 54:04Speaker 3: And she was.
- 54:07Speaker 4: And what I left out because I was hoping somebody
- 54:11Speaker 4: would ask. They are pretty sure she lied about the
- 54:17Speaker 4: accusations and what she told Alvin, nothing ever happened to her.
- 54:21Speaker 4: She just wanted to get even with them.
- 54:27Speaker 3: You know what's funny, not anything that you just said.
- 54:31Speaker 3: But Alvin's face is fine. Alvin Neely, if you look
- 54:37Speaker 3: him up exactly how you'd imagine him to look. He
- 54:40Speaker 3: is like a seedless John Wayne Gacy. He is he is.
- 54:47Speaker 4: But yeah, I just she something was wrong with her,
- 54:55Speaker 4: something was wrong with her. Yes, and her family did
- 55:01Speaker 4: not support her. They did not stay in touch with her.
- 55:04Speaker 4: They said peace out. And guys, I do not blame them.
- 55:08Speaker 4: You can love them and still care for them. And
- 55:11Speaker 4: I hope they get everything they deserve while they're in prison.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Well mine is there are parallels in mine. However, it
- 55:23Speaker 3: is a little lighter. And I started it with a jokey,
- 55:30Speaker 3: and I think you'll like the joke. Actually, I think
- 55:32Speaker 3: a lot of folks in here will like the joke anyways,
- 55:35Speaker 3: So I cover I'm covering Tony Joe Henry uh, and
- 55:40Speaker 3: I'm the script I've titled Southern charment with a murderous twist,
- 55:44Speaker 3: And so here's the joke. So a girl from the
- 55:47Speaker 3: South and a girl from the North were seated side
- 55:49Speaker 3: by side on the train. The girl from the south,
- 55:51Speaker 3: being friendly and all, said, so, where are you all from?
- 55:55Speaker 3: The northern girl said, quite full of herself, mind you
- 55:58Speaker 3: from a place where they know better than you a
- 56:00Speaker 3: preposition at the end of a sentence. The girl from
- 56:03Speaker 3: the South sat quietly for a few moments and then replied,
- 56:07Speaker 3: so where are y'all from? Bitch? Here's my job. Take
- 56:16Speaker 3: that one to the bank.
- 56:18Speaker 4: That one was pretty good.
- 56:23Speaker 3: My accent was crapped, but here we are, thank you,
- 56:25Speaker 3: thank you very much.
- 56:27Speaker 4: And I thought about pulling out my Southern girl accent,
- 56:30Speaker 4: and I decided I wasn't sure if y'all could handle it.
- 56:32Speaker 4: And I didn't think I could do it for the
- 56:34Speaker 4: entire time, because I actually took classes how to get
- 56:38Speaker 4: rid of my accent and bringing it back. It scares
- 56:42Speaker 4: me because what if it don't go away again and
- 56:45Speaker 4: I'm stuck with it.
- 56:47Speaker 3: You might be stuck with it. You might you might
- 56:49Speaker 3: be stuck with it. But you know what, it's that charm.
- 56:52Speaker 3: People love that down home Listen. Magnolia is a huge
- 56:55Speaker 3: brand right now, and there's a reason for it.
- 56:58Speaker 4: That's right.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Well, Well, all I'm saying is, after this case, I
- 57:04Speaker 3: feel like that Joe could be a true story. And
- 57:06Speaker 3: if you ask me if I knew anything about Tony
- 57:09Speaker 3: Joe Henry before I picked her to cover here, the
- 57:11Speaker 3: answer would be no, Nope, I had no idea who
- 57:16Speaker 3: she was. Never once did I come across her name.
- 57:19Speaker 3: And It's been at least eight years since I've been
- 57:21Speaker 3: embroiled in true crime, and seeing as though I'm fifty
- 57:27Speaker 3: two scripts complete on women on death Row, this ended
- 57:30Speaker 3: up being pretty unbrand for me this week. Tony Joe
- 57:36Speaker 3: Henry was only twenty four years old when she became
- 57:38Speaker 3: the first and only woman to die in the electric
- 57:41Speaker 3: chair in Louisiana.
- 57:43Speaker 4: Huh, how do I not know her name?
- 57:49Speaker 3: That's what I was saying. Is what's ridiculous about it.
- 57:54Speaker 3: And we'll talk about this in a little bit. But
- 57:55Speaker 3: other than everything else, is that the chair wasn't even permanent.
- 57:58Speaker 3: It was on loan to the Calkashou Parish Courthouse. Somebody
- 58:06Speaker 3: got it on a Layoway Barrotal electric chair. Yes, I
- 58:13Speaker 3: do have a very brief section in here where I
- 58:15Speaker 3: talk about the Louisiana, the Louisiana electric chair, and uh
- 58:20Speaker 3: the death Roat. Inmates had a nickname for it, which was,
- 58:24Speaker 3: by the way, sparky. Sparky's you know, okay, sparky, fine, whatever,
- 58:29Speaker 3: they right, but they call this electric chair gruesome gurdy yep,
- 58:39Speaker 3: And honestly, I'm scared. I'm more scared of gurdy than
- 58:42Speaker 3: I am a Sparky.
- 58:44Speaker 4: Wasn't Drew Barry's more character's name Gerdy in et.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Oh? I think so.
- 58:54Speaker 4: And they used to make fun of her and they
- 58:56Speaker 4: would call her gross gurdy and screwy. So Bertie, that
- 59:01Speaker 4: is funny, mom.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Terry just gifted us, gifted somebody a membership, So thank
- 59:10Speaker 3: you for that. We surely appreciate it. And uh, I
- 59:15Speaker 3: will take a look in the chat on Julie Martin. Julie, nice, welcome,
- 59:22Speaker 3: welcome to the show. And you've got yourself a nice month, so.
- 59:28Speaker 4: Yay, nice. All right, you know what to do and
- 59:33Speaker 4: we'll do it. Before we leave, we should maybe share
- 59:37Speaker 4: with people about the new stuff coming to members who
- 59:41Speaker 4: with memberships and some of the funs. Yeah, we forgot
- 59:46Speaker 4: about that.
- 59:48Speaker 3: Okay, hold on one second, h one moment, I'm writing
- 59:56Speaker 3: a note.
- 59:58Speaker 4: I guess that's a sheep. That's not Jasper. That was
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: a sheep or a lamb. I don't know what that was.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Uh hold on, guys, my rr ring just told me
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: bedtime is approaching. If you want to prepare yourself a
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: great quality sleep, now's the time to start winding down
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: your body and mind and get off all electronic device.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: First off, you don't know me, and second off, I'm
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: about to wind you up. So let's get into it,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: shall we. Annie Annie Beatrice mcquisten, later known as Tony
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: Joe Henry, was born on January third, nineteen sixteen, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Her early life was marked by a hardship and instability.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: She was the fifth of six children in a poor family.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Her father, Robert mcquistin, struggled with alcoholism, which only compounded
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: the family's difficulties. He was abusive, while her stepmother was
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: indifferent to her. She had a stepmother because her mother
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: passed away when Tony Joe was just six years old,
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: and that left the children to be raised. Because the
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: stepmom was indifferent, primarily by their father, so real positive
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: place to grow up, huh. And the loss of her mother,
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: obviously we talked about this earlier deeply affected Tony Joe
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: because it was basically an environment of neglect post her
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: mom's death. As a child, Tony Joe generally described as
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: a pretty and lively, pretty and lively girl, but the
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: absence of a stable home led her to rebel at
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: a very early age. She dropped out of school during
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: her teenage years, and she sought escape from her difficult
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: home life. I don't blame her. I wouldn't want to
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: be there. No blame there, yep. She By the age
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: of thirteen, she had run away away from home and
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: was working in the Shreveport red light District, where she
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: quickly fell into the life of sex work at thirteen.
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: I never told that there was a red light district
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: in Louisiana. I mean, I know in New Orleans there's
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: a sex strip, but was it called the red light district.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: I mean, it could just be my ignorance and just
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: calling it that.
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: No, I mean it probably. I mean there is a
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: sex street, but I'm going to have to give that
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: a goog.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: So you keep talking, okay. The harsh realities of this
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: lifestyle pushed her further into a world of crime and addiction.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: By her late teens, she had become a habitual user
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: of drugs, including morphine, which only deepened her descent into
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: life of crime and desperation. Now, it's not surprising that
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: this addiction was the case. In the thirties. Morphine was
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: a medical treatment for pain, and at one point morphine
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: was even thought to treat opiate addiction and alcohol addiction.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: And all I can say to that is Nope, absolutely not.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: And just so you know, you did not make it
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: up there. In New Orleans, Louisiana was the city's red
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: light district from eighteen ninety seven to nineteen seventeen.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Oh but this was like nineteen the number.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: They still referred to it, even though it was technically illegal.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: So oh, okay, okay. Well, Tony Joe's life took a
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: significant turn when, at the age of twenty, she met
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: none other than Claude Cowboy Henry.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Claude Cowboy Henry was a handsome and charismatic man with
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: a rough background. He was a He was actually a
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: former prize fighter who had become involved in criminal activities
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: as we are often hereing about prize fighters doing, and
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: that included included armed robbery. Now, despite his criminal past,
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: guess what, Tony Joe fell deeply in love with Claude.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: And I think it primarily has to do with the
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: fact that and and and and she genuinely loved him,
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: and he probably did her. But he provided her with
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: affection and protection and she had didn't have that, and
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: so you know, he gave her exactly, you know what,
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: what she had been looking for, whether she knew it
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: or not. The couple married shortly after meeting, and for
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: a time it seemed that Tony Joe had found a
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: sense of stability. She said, no one, she said, no
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: one ever cared about me before Cowboy Henry. That guy
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: is the king of my heart. I remember the day
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: I told him I was a kochie and then the
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: look on his face he got the drug monkey off
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: my back. A cokey, uh cocad.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: I know, but I've not ever heard it called a cokey.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Okay, double H is having a hell of a conversation.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: Yeah, he is having a very loud conversation. I hope
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: y'all are all enjoy and hearing it.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: No isolation, It'll be fine. So he went to Joe
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: and Tony, Joe and Claude. Uh, Am, I am I pretended,
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Sam said. She asked if am I pretending to be
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: Reese Witherspoon from Sweet Home, Alabama. Let me tell you what.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: If I did even a passing Southern accent and you're
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: telling me it sounded like Reese Witherspoon, I will be
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: with my fork and excited.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: I sick. Say you just made JT's night.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: I sure did, or she sure did. So. Their relationship
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: was intense. It was passionate, but also fraught with danger.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: Cowboy was twenty six years old at the time. They
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: were wet and sulfur. In November of nineteen thirty five,
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: they got their marriage license at the calc oh hold on,
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: wait a second. I had the pronunciation. I even wrote
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: it out because it makes no sense. Calcashu Calcashew did
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: good job. It is spelled it. Do you have you heard?
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: You knew this one? You knew this because a remember.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: My family is from Louisiana and I know a lot
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: of the parishes.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: That's right, okay, so Calcashue Parish courthouse, and that's right.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Calcashue Parish Courthouse and if you remember, that's the exact
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: same location where she was executed. So how dark and
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: poetic is that?
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Well, and I have to ask, I also never knew
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: that we executed people at the courthouse in the electric chair.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: What happened to doing it at the PRIs?
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Yeah, because that's a lot of sticking up. Yeah, I'll
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: hit on that kind of near the end here. So
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Claude's criminal activities soon caught up with him and he
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: was arrested and sentenced to fifty years in prison for
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: his role in a robbery. Tony Joe was devastated by
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: his incarceration and became obsessed with finding a way to
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: free him. And it said that during his sentence hearing,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Tony Joe yelled out, those bastards got my man. So
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: her love for Claude drove her to play in a
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: desperate and dangerous scheme to break him out of prison.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: That's love, It's something. On February fourteenth, appropriate nineteen forty,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: Tony Joe, along with an accomplice named Archie Burke, set
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: out on a plan to rescue Claude from the Huntsville
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: State Penitentiary in Texas. That's where he was being held
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: in Huntsville.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: In there.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: To the penitentiary I have, So who'd you date there?
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: I didn't date anybody there. My sister in law was
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: a probation officer there and my brother at one point
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: when he first joined the DPS department. That's where they lived.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: And they also have a museum by there, and you
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: can go and see old Sparky and you can see
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: all of the stuff and you.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Can take I'm assuming that that is the well, no,
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: that's not the same chair, but yeah, a lot of
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: people died in that chair.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: A lot of people died in the Yeah. But yeah,
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: so I've been there. But no, it's fun.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: To fund this mission, they decided to steal a car
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: and any money they could acquire along the way. Now, Uh,
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: Tony had good intentions, I guess, at least as far
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: as romance goes. What she didn't have really And it's
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: not that she wasn't intelligent, she just didn't have this
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: level of intelligence to pull this off. And it's a
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: whole other level, a whole other level. Uh. And this
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: was from the get go. Who am I guys?
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Is that Jasper opened the back gate and my dogs
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: and my goat just came in the house. But I
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: have to let you continue and I will be right
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: back because I have goats dogs running around.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Old mcterry had a farm ei ei. Oh hmm. So
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Tony had good intentions everyone, at least as far as
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: romance goes. But what she didn't have was the smarts
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: to pull it off. She wasn't, let's say efficient. The
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: first thing that she did, you you you missed nothing
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: because I actually accidentally repeated three sentences, so you missed nothing.
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: Double a damn it? How did he do that again?
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: He can unlock the gate. We have to put a
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: block on it, a combination lock, because he can open it.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: I have aomos. Thank you so much for gifting five
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: members ships. That is so nice of you.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: That is very nice to see here.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: I'm gonna read off. Uh let's see, we've got uh
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: bleach my brain. Casey Kavalsik, Elizabeth Miller, Debbie Blair, and
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Aaron Patterson. You all were gifted memberships by a vamos.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Thank you very much for that. We surely appreciate it,
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: certainly getting us off on the the right hoof Yeah,
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: it is it is, it is reigning memberships. So the
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: first thing that she decided to do was pay two
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: boys to get guns for her. Okay, they stole plenty
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: of guns from a storm Beaumont, but they only stole
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: the correct ammunition for one of them. Not not great,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: Miss DJ, Thank you so much. Miss DJ says, I
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: love goats and dogs. This is a great channel. I
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: am biased. I agree you're in good company, Miss DJ.
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: You are in good company. It just I apologize that
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: it startled me so much. Double H forgets that you
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: have to put the lock on the locked gate because
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: the goat is smart enough to lift up it's a
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: wrought iron fence gate. He lifts it and pull it
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: with this mouth and opens it. Even my eleven year
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: old granddaughter has problems with it.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: So Tony Joe also had a chance. Remember she wanted
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: she she wanted money. She was gonna get guns, and
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: she's gonna she's gonna steal a car. She had a
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: chance to hijack a Lincoln Zephyr, but she passed on it.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: No idea why. But later they were walking back past
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: the Honky Tonks on the Louisiana side of the Sabine
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Sabin sab Sabina Sababan, and fate led them to be
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: picked up by one Joseph P. Calloway, who was kind
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: hearted on expecting he was a traveling salesman who was
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: headed to Texas to visit his wife. So good man
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: that Joe Calloway.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: I have a relative named Joe.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Might want to look into that one.
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: I got a bacon note.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: So Callaway offered the pair a ride, unaware of those
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: criminal intentions they have. During the drive, Tony Joe and
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Burke overpowered him. Callaway offered her money, but damn it,
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Tony Joe wanted the car the broom room. He wanted
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: the broom room. At gunpoint, they forced him into the trunk.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: Then they drove to a field with a couple of
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: haystacks and it lay. It was far to the south
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: of Lake Charles. There they ordered Callaway to strip down
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: to his underwear, which was an act meant to humiliate him.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: I mean, come on, you don't got to do that,
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: but they did it, and uh. Then Tony Joe shot
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Callaway in the head with the thirty two caliber revolver,
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: killing him instantly. Afterward, they hid his body in a
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: haystack in a nearby field and stole his car, continuing
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: on their way as if nothing happened. The duo eventually
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: arrived in El Dorado, Arkansas, on the morning of Valentine's Day,
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: nineteen forty. They went over to where Burke said the
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: bank they intended to rob was located, because that's what
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: they were doing when they were getting there. They were
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: robbing a bank. Burke said, I know where this bank is.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: We're gonna do this one. They went over there, but
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: here's the thing. There was no bank, and Tony Joe
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: was pissed.
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: There was no bank.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: She was rightful pissed.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: Well, then why did they go there?
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: Burke made up the entire story about the bank. Why
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: because he needed to get a ride to Arkansas.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Okay, I like Burke. I like Burke except for the
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: killing parts. But that's funny.
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: I was gonna say. I think it's safe to say
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: he got more than he bargained for. But here we are. So,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: while in Camden, Arkansas, the two fought. Tony Joe said
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Burke wanted to leave. He grabbed all the guns put
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: them in his hat box, which is a very nineteen
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: forties phrase that I never thought I would say. Tony
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: Joe said she pistol whipped him because of this, which
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: either did or did not happen. I can't confirm that.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: But Burke left and he took the car that Tony
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: Joe wanted so badly with him. Tony Joe's left without
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: a car, and Burke eventually abandoned the car and Bowmont
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: didn't do very well. Nope uh. He eventually abandoned the
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: car in Beaumont, Texas. Tony Joe headed back to Shreveport
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: in the back of a Greyhound bus, and I think
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: a guilty conscience was weighing. One of my favorite books
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: is Crime and Punishment because it talks about guilty consciences
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: and the effects they had on you know, mental and
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: physical state. Love it not in high school when I
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: read it, it was Crime and Punishment then, but now
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: it's fine. Anyways, she reunited with her aunt, Emma Holt,
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: and this was nineteen forty. Bell asked what year was this?
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Nineteen forty? She reunited with her aunt, and she said,
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: I shout a man, Okay, cool. But here's the problem.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: She forgot that her uncle, George was a captain in
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: the Louisiana State Police.
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: Lucy and Aunt Emma Tell's husband everything.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: I bet you a Amma called Uncle George. She sure
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: damn did.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: You can't get in trouble.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: And Uncle George showed up, and Uncle George said he
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: could help her if she turned herself in, and the
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: gig was up. Tony Joe was arrested February twentieth, nineteen
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: forty in Shreveport. Burke was captured separately and confessed to
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: his role in the crime, implicating Tony Joe as the mastermind. Now,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: it's hard to prove a murder if there ain't a body, right,
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: So John Jones, another state police captain, also a man
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: with a very felt like made up name, drove Tony
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: Joe to the same place in which she killed Callaway.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: The problem was everything looks similar, right, It's like which
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: I think is very racist, because not all fields look
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: the same. Okay, there are some fields are different. There's
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: some high fields, low fields, cornfields, wheat fields.
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: No, if it's a rice field and it's in Texas
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: or in Louisiana, they all flat and they all look
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: the same. There is no distinguishing the rice field. They
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: all be looking the same.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: I hear it. I'm from you know here in Virginia,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: we got to back.
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I've been there. Those ross farms all look
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: the same.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: I don't know. A while of a sudden, I just
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: sad to sound like Johnny Cash. But here we are, Hello,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: I'm Johnny Cash. So she couldn't figure out thank you. Uh.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: She couldn't figure out where the heck she left Calloway's body,
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: but eventually saw those two haystacks that I mentioned earlier,
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: and she knew that was the place. Now because of
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: what happened, there were no clothes, there was no id,
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: so they couldn't id Calloway's body, but Tony Joe remembered
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: it and I did it. Before Burke was arrested, they
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: asked Tony Joe who her accomplice was. Now that's a
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: whot because despite all that they went through, he never
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: tried to learn his real name. She only ever knew
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: him as Archie.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: But maybe we'll get there.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: After seeing some photos mugshots, she was actually able to
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: pick him out. Now, Arkie Burke was also known as
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: John Rowe, Lloyd Adams. And get this, this is my
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: this is my favorite name ever that I have ever
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: reported on in a case Hermit.
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: Hay good, Kermit hate good.
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: Mm hmm, what another family member.
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: My brain is thinking something about hey good.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: Maybe the hay was good.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: That's why they call it the Rainbow Connection. It's the
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: true Crown Wine show.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: Yeah, Kermit, uh, I know I was thinking of hey
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: because you said there was two bells of hey, hey
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: good bells Hey Hey. I'm going to just shut up.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: So what was his real name? His real name was
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: Horace Burke. Not as fun as Kermit hay Good. I'm
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: just gonna toss that out there. However, I would love
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: to form a law firm with him, Horace and Hosak.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: It'd be great. I love it. Yep, Okay, so Tony
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: Joe Henry's trial for the murder of JP. Calloway began
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: in March in nineteen forty. The judge John T. Hagen
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: noticed that was just a month later or less. This
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: is this is moving. This is moving. We're not We're
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: not effing around, as the kids say. The judge John T.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: Hood appointed local. Hey, listen, if a judge goes by
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: all three initials, get the hell out of there, because
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: it's not going to be good for you. That's how
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: I see it. Appointed local attorneys Clement Moss and Norman Anderson. Hello,
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: mister Anderson to defend Tony Joe. They said hard pass.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: Hood said nope, you're gonna do it. They complained, He said,
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: get over it. They lodged four appeals with the louisianast
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: of Supreme Court. But the trial was a go so
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: here we are.
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: That was not a request. That was you're doing it.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: Yeah right, Like this isn't a radio station. The judge
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: doesn't call in to request a song like you're doing it,
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: Sam says, I realizing how southern I am from the
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: conversations and attempts being made.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: You're welcome, Glad we could help out there. Sam, all right.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: So the trial became a media sensation. We're talking nineteen forty.
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: People are always blaming nowadays for caring way too much
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: or to talking about it broadcast. No, no, no, no. It
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: was just as bad then, if not worse. So the
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: trial became a media sensation. It captivated the public because
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: of the details and the contrasting image of how beautiful
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: she was yet how deadly she was, and what we
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: are attracted to and if it's dangerous, we like it.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: So on the first day of the trial, two hundred
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: people crammed into that courtroom, two hundred, two hundred, so many,
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: so many that it was reported that one spectator was
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: actually reported to be allowed to sit in the damn
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: jury box. I don't think that's allowed.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: No.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: Defense attorney said that the members of the public were
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: actually like hanging from pipes in the courtroom to see.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: I imagine the pipes were on the side of the
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: wall and they were just like hanging on them. Now,
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: her defense, tell me, tell me if this next statement
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: reminds you of any pop culture peace Okay. Her defense
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: attempted to portray her as a victim of circumstance, arguing
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: that her tragic upbringing and toxic relationship with Claude Henry
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: had driven her to commit the crime. Sound like anything, Yeah, well,
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: that's that's true. But all I can think of is, uh,
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: let's see, Oh yes, so yes, oh yes, they both,
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: oh yes, they both, Oh yes, they both reach for
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: the gun, the gun, the gun, the gun. Oh yes,
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: they both reach for the gun. Fall of the gunen Chicago.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: That's all I can think of is the musical Chicago,
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: because that's literally what they do with.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: It's one of the musicals I have not seen.
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: Are what? All right, everybody head over to the courtyard.
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: Join and we are going to do a live stream
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: of us all watching Chicago. That's gonna happen and Terry's
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: gonna be we will schedule it, so, you know, but
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: join the courtyard. Yes, so, yes, because.
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: That's when I've not seen and I've wanted to see it.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: And double H doesn't want to see. He doesn't like
- 1:24:07Speaker 6: to beautiful. Yes, it's beautiful, So join the courtyard. It's great,
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: it's awesome.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: Good people.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: That was actually one of my one of my audition
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: pieces was that song.
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: Well, why don't you do it for us?
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: So yeah, one day I'll record it and then I'll
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: just release it on here for the members. There you go.
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: I'll record songs and release them for you all, and
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: then you'll never want to be a member again. So,
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: her defense, like I said, portrayed her as a victim. However,
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: the prosecution painted a different picture, depicting her as manipulative,
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: cold blooded and who had willingly taken the life of
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: an innocent man. And you know what, for a time,
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: it worked. The defense has worked and Tony Joe became
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: a celebrity across the board. There were photos and news articles.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: Rumors went around like like it was you know, Access Hollywood,
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: that guards were spending a silly amount of time with her,
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: if you know what I mean. However, Yeah, that that
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: Sam said, I love Catherine Zada Jones. That is the
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: same one. Yep, That's what I'm talking about. The cast
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: is so although generally everybody really liked her and like
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: her her her cell had like furniture and like a
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: writing desk and like a lot of stuff in it,
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: but not everybody.
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: Like besides her bed, like the bunks on the wall,
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: she had like furniture like a cow.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: I don't know about, but definitely they liked her a lot. Yeah,
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: but not everybody liked her. As the jury walked into
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: the courtroom, the nineteen forties crowd was hollering, hang her,
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: hang that bitch, which that is quite scandalous for nineteen
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: forties as far as I know.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: That's a lot back then.
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: Right, And here's where the trial gets difficult. Tony Joe
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: and Burke just couldn't seem to agree on who shot Callaway.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: Imagine that, right.
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: Well, they got a point from the city together, right.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Uh, just as long as they don't point a trout,
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: we'll be safe. So Burke's version. Burke said he was
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: totally taken aback when Tony Joe's plan became apparent. Apparently
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: it was a kid before. Burke felt obligated to help
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: her despite everything, so he felt he was obligated to
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: help her rob the Arkansas bank. But Burke pretty much
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: told her after the robbery of Callaway that he was
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: going to go his separate way, he said. Tony Joe
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: saw that as a betrayal, and she was none too happy. Now,
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: Tony Joe said it was Burke, but eventually she changed
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: her tune and she said she was the person behind
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: the trigger.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: When police asked her why she now decided to make
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: a confession, Tony Joe told them I have nothing to
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: live for the man I love is in prison, and
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: then she added, besides, Burke has a mother, and I
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: don't trying to drop up. Some heart hurt for her,
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: and that's what she was going for. Remember, she's she
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: stripped a guy naked and shot him in.
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: The needs to be hung, and it doesn't mean my
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: heart can't hurt for her.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: She's dying fair, fair, fair. Despite the defense's efforts, yes,
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: the evidence against Tony Joe overwhelming Burke's confession along with
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: the physical evidence Tony Jones Jones Joe's own inconsistent statements
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: sealed her fate. They didn't mount much of a defense
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: at all. In reality, they did try to argue that
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: in the confession to police, she said she shot Callaway
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: in the heart when he was in fact shot in
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: the head. But as they say, that dog don't hunt
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: and that pig don't fly. So yep, didn't work. Now.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: JP Copeland, in front of Callaway, joined the prosecution for
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: this that's what kills me. So JP Copeland, a friend
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: of Callaway, the murdered man, joined the prosecution for this trial.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Conflict of interest, munch.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: I know, I'm like Quinn. I don't think that's allowed.
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: So he also was able to address the court and said,
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: nothing will satisfy me in the better class of people
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: in Houston with a death penalty for this man and woman,
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: Nor can the manner of death be too severe. So
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: to that, I say, damn. Trial lasted a single day,
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: a whole single day. After a brief deliberation, the Jerry
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: founder guilty of first degree murder and she was sentenced
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: to death. Now, the Supreme Court and Governor stayed Tony
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: Joe's execution multiple times, but no matter how many times
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: she was going to the electric chair. We're going to
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: take a brief aside, and I wish I had another
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: camera so I could just be like, let me talk
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: to you over here for a second. The death row
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: inmates in Louisiana, like I said, refer to the electric
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: chair as gruesome gurdy. At first, when they made this
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: the primary method of execution, they actually used to take
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: that chair basically on tour and it would go place
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: to place and it would just travel and where they
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: would execute would be either in the jail or in
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: the court.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: So it was like a road show of electric cution.
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: It was literally like a traveling death show. Yes, correct, absolutely, no,
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: Now what really what I'm going to share this story
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: with you because this is what happens when you have
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: a traveling road show for executions. There was an absolutely
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: horrifying experience where Willie Francis was being executed on May third,
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: nineteen forty six. The chair was improperly set up by
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: a drunken prison guard. They flipped the switch and Willie,
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: instead of being electrocuted, was injured terribly and he was screaming,
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: take it off, take it off, let me breathe from
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: behind the leather hood. They stopped the execution, and while
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: he did file an appeal with the Supreme Court that
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: sure as fuck wasn't gonna work, it was denied and
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: he was later executed a year or six days.
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: So what happened to him? Did it just get hot?
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: I honestly I didn't look too far into it because
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: that just wasn't my focus. But it was a story
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: where I was like, look, how effed up this was?
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's like those traveling circuses or those traveling
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: things where they travel and they just set up a
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: Ferris Will real quick and all these rides. You don't
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: know what the junk Carney's doing. Don't get on them.
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: It's true, it's true. I see a lot of them videos.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Not not. I'm not not confident. So as Tony Joe
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: waited for the day, she also would receive mail because
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: even then we had folks that wanted to correspond. At times,
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: she would get more than two hundred letters from fans
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: and detractors in a single day. That's a lot of mail.
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: That's a lot of mail.
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: Yeah, she had a lot of hours to fill, so
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: she spent that time answering her mail. Not unlike Sarah
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: boone expect, sound like anyone, Yep, yep. She also received
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: visits from strangers who sympathized. In fact, there's a reporter,
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: one person traveling all the way from San Francisco to
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: see her, which that's dedication. Now before her execution, hmm.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: I mean, I just don't get it, don't get it.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: Before her execution, she decided to sit down. She granted
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: American presses Elliott Chase her an interview, and I'm gonna
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: read you three four snippets from her From this interview,
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: she said, I'm telling you I shot callaway because it's
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: no good lying now. Burke didn't do it. And then
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: she said it was like being drunk, real drunk. Have
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: you ever pulled something when you were drunk? And that's
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: something seemed the cutest, smartest thing in the world, but
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: really it was the awfullest. Well, I was drunk with pressure,
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: worrying about my husband. And then she said, the victim
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: does not return to haunt me. I never think of him.
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: I've known all along it would be my life for this.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: I believe mine is worth as much to me as
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: it was to him. I wonder, though, sometimes why it's
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: legal now for another fellow to kill me. And finally,
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: in addition, she talked about a radio show that she
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: enjoyed watching, which was called Abel's Irish Rose, and she
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: said she was concerned it would go on after her death.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: She said, I'm scared. I'm scared because I don't know
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: where I'll be in September, and Abel's Irish Rose will
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: go right on without me. Seriously, oh seriously, for sure?
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: Like what yeah, Like I would be doing a lot
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: live trial watch of that, for sure, if it was
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: a real thing, if it was now right. So, while
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: she was in jail, Tony Joe also had believe it
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: if you thought furniture was weird. She also had a
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: little black and white dog with her during her time
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: in jail. That's right, she had a dog. Yeah, and
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: right before X yep, yep she did. She had to
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: arrange for someone to take care of the dog. So
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: the dog ended up being sent back to Shreveport and
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: somebody took care of her. I don't know who it was.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: All I cared about was that the dog was taken
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: care of. When the time came, Tony Joe walked twenty
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: two steps to the electric chair. Her hair, which was
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: sensationalized and aggrandized. People loved her hair like that was
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: that was the thing, right, But hair, you can't have
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: hair if you're going to get electrocuted. So her hair
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: was barber Yep. She wore a white dresson had a
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: crucifix made from ivory. Tony jo had been visited by many,
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: but none as often as Father Richard of the Cathedral
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: of the Immaculate Conception. He sat with her three times
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: a week, and the priest didn't believe. I think I
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: think the priest is probably on point with this one,
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: where he actually he didn't believe any of the rumors
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: that were going around about her, about the prison guards
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: and stuff. And this is why, and he says this.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: He says she was passionately in love with her husband.
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: She spoke of him often, and what wrote to him
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: every day, and faithfully he wrote her back. And I
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: think that that's true. I think that she loved him
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: so much that would not be happening. Well, she could
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: have just.
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: Been using her womanly ways to get furniture. But that
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: doesn't necessarily mean she was, you know, committing an adultship
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: that he could have just bat at her eyes Adam
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: and got her way.
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: I think if I had womanly ways and I was
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: in that situation, I'd be doing it. I would be too,
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: especially so Tony.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: So.
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: Tony Joe was baptized Roman Catholic finding jail house Jesus.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: As one is wanting to say regarding her death, the
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: priest said she wasn't afraid. She was pessimistic. She thought
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: she didn't have a chance. Tony Joe went to the chair,
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: wearing a headscarf that Father Richard gave her to cover
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: up her newly shaved head. She walked. She walked to
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: the chair, looked Father Richard in the eyes and said goodbye. Father. Now,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: while in custody at Lake Charles, Tony Joe Henry sent
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: the following letter to her sister. And you know what,
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: for old time's sake, I don't think I have any
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: music that actually would work for this, so we can't
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: do it. I was gonna play some music, but I
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: don't think we have any music that. Maybe maybe I do,
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: Let's see, let's go with that. There you go. That's fun,
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: all right, Darling Keith. It's honey. I'm sending you five
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: dollars to buy my baby a birthday present. Get her
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: a coat or a skirt and a sweater. Tell her
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: it's from me with oceans of love and kisses. Wish
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: you had been here to help me eat goose and dressing.
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: Gibbs went out hunting yesterday and shot to Geese Boy
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: where they were. They were some eating too. Did you
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: make the kids their cake? I got a telegram tonight
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: from Claude. He is at Huntsville. I sure feel a
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: thousand times better. You write to him at Box thirty two,
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: hunts Full, Texas and tell him what I told you to. Honey,
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: I don't guess there's anything else to write, so I'll
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: just say so long. You can write Gibbs and tell
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: them if you get money just writing Gibbs, dou home
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: at the same address as when you wrote me. I'll
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: be thinking of you all loving kisses, Tony. And that's
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: the end of my case.
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: She was a bunny boiler, you know. Love made her
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: do some crazy things.
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: I think I think it did. And then along the
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: way she found this, which good for her. I think
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: she found this confidence and I think she used that
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: confidence to do what she did. And then when she
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: hit Ja Harrol, where typically somebody would lose that confidence,
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: the fact that she was so paid attention to and
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: given so much attention that just enhanced that or solidified
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: that confidence, and that carried her all the way to
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: gruesome gurdy.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: I mean, my initial thoughts, being a Southern lighty, if
- 1:38:56Speaker 4: I went all the way to Arkansas to rob a
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: bank and you've lied to me about that bank, I
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: would not have pistol whipped you. I would have shot
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: you roped between the eyes, because that meant I couldn't
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: get back to my man and break him out. The
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: fact that she let him.
- 1:39:13Speaker 7: Leave, she was, she was pissed, and she let him live,
- 1:39:18Speaker 7: So that tells you she wasn't a totally cold hearted
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: I mean, she was cold, but she didn't kill him.
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: I mean, I think I think he should be happy
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: that he grabbed the one gun she had ammunition for
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: along with the other ones and put in the hat box,
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: and all she could do was pistol whip him with
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: the one she had because she didn't have any ammunition
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: so what a story? What a story? It was a
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: lot of fun to righte. So those are two good ones.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: They were good ones. I liked those. Well, I didn't
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: like them, but they were good cases. Do you want
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: to talk about the new stuff that's coming for the members?
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: I'll tell some and then you can tell some. How
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: about we can share, we'll see thing. We are planning
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: a happy hour where you will be all invited that
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: are members, and it will be on a video meeting
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: that will not be recorded, but we will be able
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: to chat, hang out, have drinks, mocktails whatever. So I'm
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: excited about that. My new series, Dearest Mothers, will be
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: released one week ahead, so before it even goes out
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: to the public that first week, members will get to
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: see the episodes first, and they will always get it
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: a week ahead.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: In addition, I'm planning on doing some things. If you notice,
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: if you're a member, you notice the members only post
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: on our community page on YouTube, which means only you
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: can see the messages, and I'm planning on doing some
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: of those posts. Of course, we may do some like
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: behind the scenes things. Maybe we'll release some bloopers, but
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: the bloopers will probably lead from the other shows that
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: are pre recorded versus these ones, because you see it all, Yes,
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: see it all, so you get all the good stuff because.
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: I got a goat and things coming in. We also,
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: I think we're doing this for members. It'll come out
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: to members first, then we'll share it. I believe I
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: could be wrong. Where we're going to bring your dad
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: on to learn about you, and then we're going to
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: either bring on Double H or my bestie and you'll
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: be able to ask them questions, any burning questions you
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: have about us.
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: Yep, So you know, start writing those down, Start writing
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: those down, and you'll have that option as a member
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: to question old daddy.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: So, I've been looking forward to him coming back on
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: and I know he is too.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: We have something in the works. I can just say
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: that in twenty twenty five there will be some in
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: person live shows and if you're not in that city,
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: but if you're a member, you will be able to
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: see it. And that's all I can say on that.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: I you know how, you know how like Christmas right?
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: And I don't know if you're like this, Like I
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: do enjoy like I enjoy getting a gift, but I'm
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: really bad at giving gifts because I always just want
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: to give it to them. I don't want to wait,
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: like I just want to. I want them to enjoy
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: the gifts. I want to see them open it. I
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: want to, you know, like I want that. Uh, this
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: is where we're at. This is where you're we're at
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: right now. It is. But just know this, there are
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: some massive, awesome things coming. Yeah right, I'm no good
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: at it, but there are some huge things happening, huge
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: things coming. As you can see, we are increasing our
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: number of offerings case you know, show wise. I promise
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: you Night Court is coming back. It is coming back.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: I am working right now on ideas and things for that.
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: I think you will like it. But we've also got
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: so much more happening, and it's going to be fantastic.
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: Twenty twenty five is going to be the time of
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: the Wine, so we are super psited about it.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: I will be turning fifty five in twenty twenty five,
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: so we will have to plan something, live celebration.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: Live for fifty five, live.
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: For fifty five, So I'm exc There's so much going on,
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: and the fact that we're going to get to hang
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: out together face to face more really makes me. Okay.
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: Now I'm going to sell on the record and say
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: cat yep, yep captains a lot. Now I will say
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: that one of my things, and I've done it before,
- 1:44:29Speaker 4: is I will have a pinata with all those small
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: individual liquor bottles in them, because there's nothing more fun
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: than watching drunk people hit a pinata and all the
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: alcohol go and they all die for it. I mean,
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: it's better than kids.
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: In my entire lifetime, all thirty six almost thirty seven
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: years of this, I have never thought about filling a
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: pinata with many bottles of alcohol. And now that you
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: have said this, I wish to gift this to everybody
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: once I can afford it. So therefore everybody become a member.
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: That's that's really what I mean, you know. I mean,
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: the quicker we can build the channel, the quicker we
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: can make this our full time job, and the more
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: we can give you. So yay, we.
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: Af fifty five and so beautifully alive and thriving. Yes,
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: we have a lot of cool things. I have never
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: been so excited for the end of a year, in
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: the new year, New Year, and we're only in August.
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: I mean, I've never been so excited to work with
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: somebody and other people, but you who are organized, business
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: focused and ready to build something, so ready to go.
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: We are ready to go. So I'm excited. And who knows,
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: maybe we'll just give everybody goats a goat for everybody,
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: you know what, I say.
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: No, but I'm all for it. You're all for it,
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: all for it. I could get behind it. That'll be goats.
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: Captain says, mhmm, I'm whispering.
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: But there will probably be another goat in this household
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: real soon.
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: You're the opera of goats. You get a goat, and
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: you get a goat, and you get there's a goat.
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: So we have a lot of cool things coming. I
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: do want to warn people though, my new series, Derris's Mother,
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: is not going to be for everyone, and I hope
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: nobody feels bad about saying that it is not going
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: to be for everyone. I don't get into all of
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: the deep, dark details, but they are dark. So I
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: just want to say that up front. You can love us,
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: and you can love everything. That doesn't mean you have
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: to like that. I will not be offended because even
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: writing them and researching them, I have to take a
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: break because they are dark. But I also think they're
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: important because I'm finding there is a lot of mental
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: illness and domestic violence involved in a lot of these cases.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: Yes, and right after you and I do are a
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: sign off, I'll play that Dearest mother, Darkest Secret one
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: more time that trailer and then we'll you know, play
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: the outro and call it. But for those of you
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: who tuned in a little later and missed it, but
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: I'm you ready, I'm ready. All right, Well, I will
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: get the ball of rolling and say thank you all
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: for tuning into true crime. And one time, please take
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: care of yourself, your friends, your family, and your community.
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: Do not let anybody do all your sparkle and shine
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: on you crazy diamonds, and.
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: As always, be safe, watch out for crime, and enjoy
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: your wine time, or your buffily time.
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: Or your truly time. Mm hmm bye everybody.
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: By next time, think think
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: It
