- 0:03Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:06Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Bars.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Blazarre and Lazarn. Hello, everybody nailed it? Joined us always
- 0:17Speaker 2: Here is Evan Lazar and Alex Bars.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Oh okay, I've anticipated in the Felers.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Big board and for those of you that don't know, they
- 0:26Speaker 2: take a football at the marker on the end of
- 0:28Speaker 2: it and they throw it at it. Was it Lindy's or.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Like Lindy's magazine up on a board on a board,
- 0:35Speaker 3: and then the idea is that they can literally throw
- 0:38Speaker 3: darts at a magazine and do just as good as
- 0:41Speaker 3: you and I do at predicting what the Patriots are
- 0:43Speaker 3: gonna do.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I guess and you.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Gotta throw yeah, and you hit.
- 0:49Speaker 2: The camera on the top of the board, which.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm glad I brought that. I was, I was, we
- 0:54Speaker 1: were having meetings before. I was like, we just put
- 0:56Speaker 1: a camera on the top of the board. So I'm
- 0:58Speaker 1: glad I came up with that, because otherwise it would
- 0:59Speaker 1: just sales to board if I was aiming for the
- 1:02Speaker 1: camera and hit it. That is an unbelievably impressive broke.
- 1:05Speaker 1: You have to admit that that is not a big camera,
- 1:07Speaker 1: and I hate it right the freaking lens too. I'm
- 1:10Speaker 1: proud of at the end, I'm not giving a new
- 1:12Speaker 1: credit when the goal was to hit the magazine and
- 1:14Speaker 1: not the camera. Yeah, I wish I picked.
- 1:15Speaker 4: A better player.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Twenty two world bars.
- 1:23Speaker 2: We've made it, guys, almost twenty four hours. Is this like,
- 1:27Speaker 2: does this feel a little bit like Christmas Eve?
- 1:28Speaker 1: For you?
- 1:29Speaker 2: What were Jewish? But you know, like kind of like
- 1:31Speaker 2: what you think Christmas Eve would feel like or like, well,
- 1:35Speaker 2: you know, New Year's Eve.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I guess when the Patriots used to trade back all
- 1:37Speaker 1: the time, my friend, that's what felt like the Jewish
- 1:42Speaker 1: kid on Christmas everybody else is getting and then they
- 1:44Speaker 1: made some good picks and they moved back.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I would that out.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't rull it out either. I actually put a
- 1:50Speaker 1: new mock draft up this morning and I have that
- 1:52Speaker 1: in there, and I don't think it would be the
- 1:54Speaker 1: worst scenario. We can get to that. But you know,
- 1:56Speaker 1: it was weird.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I was thinking about it, trying, but you didn't answer
- 1:58Speaker 2: my question.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Well, I was getting to it. I was thinking about
- 2:00Speaker 1: driving in this morning that like it doesn't it does?
- 2:04Speaker 2: There was so much This is our time to shine the.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Last two years, it really felt like crossing a finish
- 2:10Speaker 1: line and the anticipation was massive on and that's exactly it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Remember what I said at the beginning of the off
- 2:17Speaker 1: season after the Super Bowl, this is going to be
- 2:19Speaker 1: a sprint, not a marathon. And the last couple of
- 2:23Speaker 1: years it was like, Okay, put in all the work,
- 2:26Speaker 1: all that, like like I'm ready, let's go in this year,
- 2:29Speaker 1: it's just like, Okay, I got it all in, thank goodness,
- 2:33Speaker 1: got everything done, made it to the end. Like it
- 2:36Speaker 1: really did feel like a sprint. So it feels come
- 2:40Speaker 1: on here. It's still no, no, no, still feels cool
- 2:43Speaker 1: and rewarding, but it feels very different.
- 2:46Speaker 2: It feels very super Bowl.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Does it not feel different than it felt the last
- 2:50Speaker 1: two years getting to the end of the process.
- 2:52Speaker 2: It does. But I'm getting kind of annoyed with this
- 2:57Speaker 2: notion that like this draft doesn't mean as much or
- 3:02Speaker 2: as an exciting and like, but this is for our
- 3:06Speaker 2: type of people, for our people, for us, for our listeners.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I don't care if they're picking first or thirty first,
- 3:14Speaker 2: Like the draft is it matters, It matters, there doesn't.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Matter, and they're gonna pick somebody.
- 3:19Speaker 6: This is not.
- 3:20Speaker 2: You know, my feeling is about drafts and other sports
- 3:22Speaker 2: besides football and basketball.
- 3:23Speaker 1: No, I even basketball now well.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the end of the basket. I'm talking lottery pick
- 3:29Speaker 2: style though, Like the NFL draft, that player that they
- 3:34Speaker 2: pick at thirty one is gonna make an immediate impact.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Like but whatever way it goes, he's gonna play, yeah,
- 3:41Speaker 2: and he's gonna have a chance. It's not like a
- 3:44Speaker 2: baseball draft or you draft the guy and you see
- 3:46Speaker 2: him four years later, right Like this is you're gonna
- 3:49Speaker 2: get this player at thirty one. And even though it's
- 3:51Speaker 2: not gonna be the players that you were getting at
- 3:53Speaker 2: three and four over the last two drafts, or even
- 3:56Speaker 2: seventeen with Christian Gonzales the draft before that, that player
- 4:00Speaker 2: is still going to be good enough to hopefully contribute
- 4:02Speaker 2: to the Patriots immediately. So that's still a big addition
- 4:06Speaker 2: to this team. And so I'm very excited about it.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I understand that, you know, I was kind of getting
- 4:12Speaker 2: at it just now.
- 4:14Speaker 1: There's a lack of buzz.
- 4:15Speaker 2: There's a lack of for the entire draft this year. Well,
- 4:18Speaker 2: so it doesn't feel the same for the entire draft,
- 4:21Speaker 2: but I'm trying to bring it back.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Because I think it's fair and I've said it time
- 4:25Speaker 1: and time again. I'll continue to say it. You cannot
- 4:27Speaker 1: have sustained success in the NFL without drafting well. The
- 4:30Speaker 1: teams that have sustained success like drafting well at the
- 4:34Speaker 1: end of the first round is what keeps you picking
- 4:36Speaker 1: at the end of the first round. So if you
- 4:38Speaker 1: want them to stay back here, drafting well matters, especially
- 4:42Speaker 1: when you have these contracts looming for Christian Zalez and
- 4:44Speaker 1: for Drake May and maybe a wide receiver from Philadelphia.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We'll see what happens there, but I think that's important.
- 4:52Speaker 1: The other thing, I as much as I love the
- 4:53Speaker 1: draft and as much as I'm excited, I think I
- 4:55Speaker 1: said this to you on Monday or yes, say whatever
- 4:59Speaker 1: it was, that these three days are always but not
- 5:03Speaker 1: even stressful. They just bugged the crap out of me
- 5:05Speaker 1: because everybody's come up with everything there is to talk about,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and now we're doing Jermad McCoy at thirty one.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Like I the draft, the draft process I feel like
- 5:16Speaker 1: always goes on one week too long, and now I'm
- 5:19Speaker 1: at the point where like, let's go, let's make some picks.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So although they're doing you know what they're doing tonight.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw it. So they do
- 5:26Speaker 1: this every year, the all the teams NFL operations I
- 5:30Speaker 1: think tweeted this out. Let me find the actual they're
- 5:32Speaker 1: doing a mock draft. They do a mock trail.
- 5:33Speaker 2: They just are doing it to make sure the technology
- 5:35Speaker 2: it's it's it's it's.
- 5:36Speaker 1: A technology, right, So everybody, everybody, all but all the
- 5:41Speaker 1: teams are on the call and they all get ready
- 5:43Speaker 1: and they.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Don't actually make pick.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Teams use it to practice their systems. Well, no, they
- 5:46Speaker 1: make fake picks. I think it is how it works.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Like you call in like a fake name, who would
- 5:51Speaker 1: be your fake pick?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Oh, Willie Beman. I was gonna I was gonna say, well,
- 5:58Speaker 2: I mean, isn't that the obvious answer?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Did he go to college? Where did he go to college?
- 6:02Speaker 2: I probably like, isn't it like Miami or whatever, like
- 6:05Speaker 2: the Miami for Miami that was the team? Oh, I
- 6:08Speaker 2: mean like that.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I forgot googled him. I forgot there's a real Willy
- 6:11Speaker 1: Beaman that played in the NFL.
- 6:12Speaker 2: It's pretty obvious that you're you're there. I have two
- 6:16Speaker 2: answers to that question. Willy Beaman is obviously the one
- 6:19Speaker 2: that came off right at the top of my head.
- 6:21Speaker 2: That's an easy that's number one with it, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 2: by far, Shane Falco is number two, because I think
- 6:26Speaker 2: The Replacements is a very underrated That was week.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I was watching The replace Those are the top those two,
- 6:33Speaker 1: Anne Falco and or you don't have a Shane Falco jersey?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Why wind up? Because Shane Falco? What do you mean why?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Although because if you look at the jerseys in the movie,
- 6:44Speaker 1: it just looks like a Scott Zolac throwback.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You know, the wide receiver that had to wear stick them.
- 6:50Speaker 2: He didn't catch anything. I always when I was a
- 6:52Speaker 2: kid watching The Replacements, I always thought that was Bethel Johnson.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I was like, like, and then this guy does Bethel Johnson,
- 6:58Speaker 2: you know? But anyways, the.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Willy Beaman went to Houston, by the way. But here's
- 7:02Speaker 1: the thing. If you're if you're picking thirty first, I
- 7:04Speaker 1: thought somebody has probably already taken Willy Beman.
- 7:07Speaker 2: That's fair, So you have to you have to go
- 7:08Speaker 2: real deep.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You'd have to go real deep.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like you don't want to take Ryan Reynolds, sir,
- 7:14Speaker 2: what's his name? Not Ryan gosling from.
- 7:18Speaker 1: A liability coverage.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You don't want to take that.
- 7:20Speaker 1: You go Dad Castle, Blue Mountain State.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And get.
- 7:25Speaker 1: That's such a bad show.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Is so corny? Oh god, show is horrible. Come on.
- 7:31Speaker 2: One of the guys names is Sammy Katchatory. That's a
- 7:34Speaker 2: great character. His last name is Catgatory. That's hilarious corny. Anyways,
- 7:39Speaker 2: let's get let's get serious. Okay, let's get silly. Start
- 7:44Speaker 2: to the show.
- 7:44Speaker 1: This is how the show. This show is very We've
- 7:46Speaker 1: done it. The hate is the hay in the barn
- 7:48Speaker 1: for you.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it feels good.
- 7:49Speaker 1: So I have I I have this huge checklist. We
- 7:52Speaker 1: use the sonnets like a back end checklist, and I
- 7:57Speaker 1: put everything I'm going to do pre draft in like
- 8:00Speaker 1: at the start of February, and it's always a long list,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh man, this is going to be
- 8:04Speaker 1: so much this the next two months of my life.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I have one thing left to check off my asana
- 8:07Speaker 1: that I'm doing after the show. I can't wait. And
- 8:09Speaker 1: I think you already do this. I try to pre
- 8:12Speaker 1: write a couple of potential picks when the picks already
- 8:15Speaker 1: did that. It's a little harder this year I think
- 8:17Speaker 1: I only did like three or four last year. This
- 8:18Speaker 1: year is so going to be closer to ten.
- 8:20Speaker 2: That's a good way to tease. I think at the
- 8:23Speaker 2: end of the show we're going to talk about who
- 8:24Speaker 2: we think is actually going to be to pick at
- 8:26Speaker 2: thirty one. I'm going to tease that, and I'm going
- 8:28Speaker 2: to make you listen all the way to the very end.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So we'll do that. It's got to be the last
- 8:32Speaker 1: thing we say of the pre draft.
- 8:33Speaker 2: And I'll also tell everybody who the five pre rights
- 8:40Speaker 2: I did, because I think that's very telling as well,
- 8:42Speaker 2: the five guys that I've already pre written. With the
- 8:45Speaker 2: thirty first pick in the two thousands, five I did. Five.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I've going to have more than five. Five that is
- 8:51Speaker 1: bold of you.
- 8:52Speaker 2: With the twenty thirty first pick in the twenty twenty
- 8:55Speaker 2: six NFL Draft in New England Patriots select dot dot dot.
- 9:00Speaker 2: We'll get to that at the end of the show.
- 9:02Speaker 2: We're also going to do our top ten man drafts.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I haven't done a full NFL first round mock or
- 9:08Speaker 2: anything like that. We don't really do that obviously on
- 9:11Speaker 2: Patriots dot Com. You already have, so it might be redundant.
- 9:14Speaker 1: For you.
- 9:14Speaker 2: But this will be the only place where I'll talk
- 9:16Speaker 2: about the top ten of the draft really in great detail,
- 9:20Speaker 2: So that'll be fun. But I want to actually start
- 9:24Speaker 2: the show with AJ Brown.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I feel like we've.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Tried our best, and I've tried to steer us kind
- 9:29Speaker 2: of away from that as much as possible over the
- 9:32Speaker 2: last couple of weeks. I get that people are kind
- 9:34Speaker 2: of sick and tired of talking about it. It's also
- 9:36Speaker 2: a draft show, so I want, you know, we want
- 9:38Speaker 2: to be more draft centric, but the whole thing. And
- 9:41Speaker 2: I know Mike Vrabel yesterday and his scrummy talked about
- 9:44Speaker 2: how it doesn't really change much for their approach in
- 9:47Speaker 2: the draft if they are going to acquire AJ Brown.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I'm not calling him a liar. I'm just saying that
- 9:52Speaker 2: that I can't really see how that's even possible. Like,
- 9:55Speaker 2: if you know that you're going to acquire AJ Brown
- 9:57Speaker 2: in June, I don't see how that doesn't impact your
- 10:00Speaker 2: plans like it has to. I think it it.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Does to an extent, but it can't. Like I've had
- 10:07Speaker 1: people calling in the Sports of and ask could they
- 10:10Speaker 1: do like the NBA thing where they draft a player
- 10:12Speaker 1: for the Eagles and then just trade that player. You
- 10:15Speaker 1: don't have AJ Brown till you have them. There's an
- 10:17Speaker 1: idiom you have. You haven't caught the fish, so you've
- 10:20Speaker 1: got it in the boat, right And what happens if
- 10:23Speaker 1: and Schefter kind of alluded to this his reporting on Monday,
- 10:26Speaker 1: like as that, and I'm paraphrasing here, but as this
- 10:29Speaker 1: environment exists right now, the most likely outcome seems to
- 10:33Speaker 1: be a J. Brown becoming a Patriot. What happens if
- 10:36Speaker 1: some teams star wide receiver twists his knee the first
- 10:39Speaker 1: day of OTAs Now they're super desperate because they're in
- 10:41Speaker 1: a contention window, and they throw something beyond what the
- 10:44Speaker 1: Patriots willing to offer at the Eagles, because again they're
- 10:46Speaker 1: desperate and they need to Well, now you've done this draft,
- 10:50Speaker 1: but you don't want to go too far the other
- 10:51Speaker 1: way either, and draft like Denzel Boston to be your
- 10:54Speaker 1: ex when AJ Brown's gonna come in and play the X.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And now Denzel Boston is a first round pick who's
- 10:59Speaker 1: not getting on the field. So it's a weird spot
- 11:01Speaker 1: to be in. I don't think it should. You need
- 11:04Speaker 1: to leave yourself room for the contingency that you don't
- 11:06Speaker 1: get them. I think you can operate with the idea
- 11:09Speaker 1: that you're probably getting them, but you need to. And
- 11:11Speaker 1: this is where we've talked about like Jean Strippling or CJ.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Daniels or guys like that, were like, you're not using
- 11:16Speaker 1: that significant pick, but there is some sort of contingency
- 11:20Speaker 1: plan just in case the unexpected happens, because this is
- 11:23Speaker 1: the NFL and the unexpected does tend.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I want to get back into a corner where you
- 11:28Speaker 2: are now you have to land the player. But I
- 11:31Speaker 2: actually still feel like the Eagles have less leverage than
- 11:37Speaker 2: the Patriots would be giving up if they didn't draft
- 11:41Speaker 2: a receiver high. The egos don't. I like, here's the
- 11:43Speaker 2: thing that I feel like with AJ Brown, and this
- 11:46Speaker 2: is where I'm at it with it today. And I
- 11:48Speaker 2: understand the Schefter reporting. I was arguing with Paul yesterday.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Did anything really change based off when Adam Schefter comes
- 11:55Speaker 2: out and says it's likely that something is going to happen.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I listen, Uh, you know, other people, no disrespect, but
- 12:02Speaker 2: it's Adam Schefter. I take that pretty strongly. If I'm
- 12:07Speaker 2: the Patriots though, with AJ Brown, and I want to
- 12:09Speaker 2: be clear, I would take a J.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Brown.
- 12:12Speaker 2: We all would. I think I like the player, I
- 12:16Speaker 2: won't want the player. It's not anything like that. With
- 12:20Speaker 2: that being said, it's a game of chicken right now
- 12:24Speaker 2: with Hallie Roseman. And if I'm the Patriots, I'm calling
- 12:27Speaker 2: Howie Roseman's bluff because just looking at the landscape of
- 12:32Speaker 2: where AJ Brown is in his career, going to be
- 12:35Speaker 2: twenty nine years old, going off of one of his
- 12:40Speaker 2: worst recent seasons in terms of production in his career,
- 12:44Speaker 2: showing some signs, I would say legitimate signs of potential
- 12:48Speaker 2: decline and being a declining player. There's all this scuttle
- 12:52Speaker 2: belt whether.
- 12:52Speaker 1: It's true or not.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It's just rumored that his knee is not in great shape,
- 12:57Speaker 2: all these different things. Not giving up a first round
- 13:01Speaker 2: pick for AJ Brown, and I'm especially not giving up
- 13:03Speaker 2: a first round pick in twenty twenty seven for AJ Brown. Now,
- 13:07Speaker 2: you could get creative. You can't protect picks like get
- 13:11Speaker 2: Ay do in the NBA, where this pick's top ten protected,
- 13:14Speaker 2: top fifteen protected. You could do a trade with contingencies
- 13:19Speaker 2: like it's a second round pick, but it becomes a
- 13:20Speaker 2: firm to do that if the Patriots make the playoffs
- 13:23Speaker 2: or something like that, like maybe that that's in play,
- 13:26Speaker 2: but just looking, someone's gonna have to tell me where
- 13:30Speaker 2: the precedent is for a receiver in AJ Brown's where
- 13:35Speaker 2: he is at in his career, where he is at
- 13:38Speaker 2: in terms of how he produced on the field last
- 13:40Speaker 2: year that player netting a first round pick because to me,
- 13:45Speaker 2: I don't see a ton of it. Now DeVante Adams did.
- 13:48Speaker 2: But Devanta Adams was coming off of a sixteen hundred
- 13:50Speaker 2: yard season with the Pas.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I can tell you where the president is in Buffalo.
- 13:56Speaker 1: If DJ Moore is worth a second, a J. Brown
- 13:58Speaker 1: is worth more.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It's not a goal, it's not that's not apples dapples
- 14:03Speaker 2: to me, like just saying like, if that's what this
- 14:05Speaker 2: guy is worth, I'm that's what.
- 14:07Speaker 1: The Eagles are gonna say.
- 14:08Speaker 4: A J.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Brown is a better player and DJ Moore? DJ Moore
- 14:10Speaker 1: went for a second.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't buy.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It, like dig So this is this is the negotiation,
- 14:15Speaker 1: This is the backup. Okay, But and you gotta you
- 14:17Speaker 1: gotta win the game of chicken against Howie Roseman.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Diggs from Buffalo to Houston went for a second round
- 14:22Speaker 2: pick and fourth and some extra state.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Diggs was the second and fourth. Metcalf was a second
- 14:27Speaker 1: and a five to six swap. Those are the two.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Those should be the two. Metcalf and A J.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Brown were in the same draft, right if you're basically
- 14:34Speaker 2: the same age. I think Metcalf is a little bit younger.
- 14:37Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a difference in two years because the
- 14:39Speaker 1: trade sauce a year later. But that's what the Patriots
- 14:42Speaker 1: are gonna say, And what the Bills are gonna say
- 14:44Speaker 1: is DJ Moore and they're gonna say Jayleen Waddle.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And I well, Jalen Waddle is two years younger, right,
- 14:49Speaker 2: like Jalen Waddle was a twenty twenty one draft pick.
- 14:52Speaker 1: They're gonna say, this is what wide receiver ones are
- 14:54Speaker 1: going for. Yeah, I I call it bluff. I called
- 14:57Speaker 1: b That's as they should. Yeah, like this is this
- 14:59Speaker 1: is you gotta win the negotiation.
- 15:01Speaker 2: That's what training is. I would trade a second round
- 15:04Speaker 2: pick for AJ Brown. Yep, I might be convinced and
- 15:08Speaker 2: to trading a protected somehow first, you know, second.
- 15:11Speaker 1: That conditional it either becomes a first if the Patriots
- 15:15Speaker 1: make the playoffs or A J. Brown makes the Pro
- 15:17Speaker 1: Bowl or has like twelve hundred yards or whatever. You
- 15:19Speaker 1: put it. It could be an individual, it could be a team.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I guess probably makes more sense to put the team
- 15:24Speaker 1: on it, right, Yeah, yeah, Patriots, as you're trying to
- 15:27Speaker 1: get it.
- 15:28Speaker 2: If it pick is in the twenties, then fine, right,
- 15:31Speaker 2: you know, if it pick is in the teams.
- 15:33Speaker 1: The scary thing about trading it is the unknown. So
- 15:34Speaker 1: if you can put that kind of qualifier on it,
- 15:36Speaker 1: and it's not like hawk or basketball where the next
- 15:39Speaker 1: year's pick conveys, it's just so the Eagles who know
- 15:42Speaker 1: they're getting a pick basically somewhere between twenty and forty.
- 15:44Speaker 2: The reason why I feel this way too is just
- 15:48Speaker 2: reading tea leaves and reading the reporting on it. I
- 15:51Speaker 2: don't think that there's some huge market for aj Brown.
- 15:54Speaker 2: There's obviously there's always a possibility that somebody could tear
- 15:58Speaker 2: at ACL and mini camp and all of a sudden
- 16:01Speaker 2: there's another team that's interested. They run that risk with
- 16:04Speaker 2: every single trade, in every single player, in every single situation.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I don't think there's a huge market for him. I
- 16:11Speaker 2: don't think that there's a lot of precedent for there
- 16:13Speaker 2: being a huge market for a player that's in the
- 16:15Speaker 2: position that he's in, right now and ultimately I think
- 16:18Speaker 2: the most important thing is that I think that this
- 16:20Speaker 2: is beyond repair in Philadelphia, Like I don't think Aj
- 16:23Speaker 2: Brown can be an Eagle in twenty twenty six. Well,
- 16:27Speaker 2: so that that's where it is, Like they kind of
- 16:30Speaker 2: have to move the player if nobody's offering a first,
- 16:33Speaker 2: and Howie Rosman thinks he's worth a first and wants
- 16:35Speaker 2: to save face on this. Nothing needs to save facebig picture,
- 16:38Speaker 2: He's done a tremendous job building that team.
- 16:39Speaker 1: But you get what I'm saying, right Yeah, Does he
- 16:42Speaker 1: hold on Aj Brown and hope that some team gets
- 16:44Speaker 1: desperate and something better comes along, or does he take
- 16:47Speaker 1: the best offer on the table, knowing he has to
- 16:49Speaker 1: get Brown out of there, even if the best are
- 16:51Speaker 1: offer on the table is not what he actually believes
- 16:53Speaker 1: Aj Brown is worth.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I think that there's a situation in this, in this
- 16:59Speaker 2: particular Sitch situation, and this is happening a little bit
- 17:01Speaker 2: more in the league. It's obviously a big thing in
- 17:03Speaker 2: other sports. I think Aj Brown is going to force
- 17:07Speaker 2: his way out and maybe you won't do it. Isn't
- 17:09Speaker 2: gonna do it publicly. He's not gonna like go and
- 17:11Speaker 2: throw a tirade. He's not gonna be t o in
- 17:13Speaker 2: his driveway.
- 17:15Speaker 1: You know, do just that over Trader contract.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And I don't think he's gonna do all any of
- 17:19Speaker 2: that kind of stuff, right, But I just don't see
- 17:23Speaker 2: how the Eagles and AJ Brown proceed together. So if
- 17:27Speaker 2: you're the Patriots, you're saying you need to get rid
- 17:31Speaker 2: of this player like this. You don't want him, he
- 17:33Speaker 2: doesn't want you. This marriage is over. So like we're
- 17:37Speaker 2: just not going to We're not gonna bend. And so
- 17:41Speaker 2: I'm giving up a second. I would entertain a second
- 17:45Speaker 2: that becomes the first. If the Patriots going to make
- 17:47Speaker 2: the playoffs next year, whatever contingencies you want to put
- 17:50Speaker 2: on it, I'm not giving up anymore for AJ Brown.
- 17:54Speaker 2: If they feel like they need to draft a receiver,
- 17:56Speaker 2: you know, I took a receiver on Day three in
- 17:58Speaker 2: my last mock draft. They feel like they need to
- 18:00Speaker 2: take a receiver at some point in the draft, go,
- 18:02Speaker 2: you know, to hedge their bets and put a backstop
- 18:06Speaker 2: on it in case they don't get AJ Brown. They
- 18:09Speaker 2: go ahead and do that, but I still feel like
- 18:12Speaker 2: it changes the Patriots outlook in the top one hundred,
- 18:15Speaker 2: Like I don't know how. I don't unless you are
- 18:20Speaker 2: in a situation at thirty one, and I'll just give you,
- 18:22Speaker 2: like a scenario. Tyson's not falling right, Like that's that
- 18:25Speaker 2: pipe dreams over with. But let's say they really do
- 18:29Speaker 2: like Cacc a lot, Like, let's say they really fell
- 18:32Speaker 2: in love with Casey Concepcion during the pre draft process.
- 18:35Speaker 1: If he makes it to thirty.
- 18:36Speaker 2: One, then then and they take him, I'm not going
- 18:38Speaker 2: to kill him for it, like fine, But to me,
- 18:40Speaker 2: that takes Aj Brown off the table.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Cacc takes Aj Brown off. So KCC I would argue,
- 18:45Speaker 1: is the one receiver that doesn't.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Well, I'm not talking about stylistically though, I'm talking about
- 18:51Speaker 2: investment in the position. Yeah, you paid Romeo Dobbs a
- 18:54Speaker 2: big free agent contract. You are trading a first you're
- 18:58Speaker 2: drafting a receiver with the first round pack, and now
- 19:00Speaker 2: you're going to trade a second round pick in twenty
- 19:02Speaker 2: twenty seven also for a receiver.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, no, too much, he said, trade a second too much.
- 19:09Speaker 2: It's too much at one position.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but Brown, Dobbs conception own like that. You're gonna
- 19:14Speaker 1: live in that in eleven and that's a really good
- 19:16Speaker 1: group that's a.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Great group, but it's just too much like what are
- 19:18Speaker 2: they what are they doing on the edge, what are
- 19:20Speaker 2: they doing at depth? On offensive line? What's going on
- 19:23Speaker 2: the edge?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Okay, I'll answer all that. On the edge, I still
- 19:26Speaker 1: think you can get an impact player at sixty three.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Maybe you're trading up a little bit. Okay, what else
- 19:31Speaker 1: did you say?
- 19:32Speaker 7: Uh?
- 19:32Speaker 1: Dep depth? So if they don't take a tackle back
- 19:35Speaker 1: first okay, one at a time. If they don't take
- 19:38Speaker 1: a tackle in the first round, yeah, they're not getting
- 19:41Speaker 1: a tackle. Like it's all project players from there on out.
- 19:44Speaker 1: So I'm not losing. The tackle question is the same
- 19:47Speaker 1: if they draft an edge, So that thing looms regardless
- 19:50Speaker 1: of what you do tight end. I think you got
- 19:54Speaker 1: some good options at ninety five. I think you've got
- 19:56Speaker 1: some good options even your big injuries guy, Like, you've
- 19:59Speaker 1: got some options early on Day three. Offensive line depth
- 20:02Speaker 1: that's separate from tackle again, I think you can address
- 20:05Speaker 1: on day three. I think I just base it so
- 20:07Speaker 1: all right, so we'll go conception on on the first.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So you're gonna draft the day three lineman hoping that
- 20:13Speaker 2: that guy is going to be good enough to be
- 20:16Speaker 2: a swing tackle as a rookie and hopefully push at
- 20:19Speaker 2: first starting physician.
- 20:20Speaker 1: If they take Okay right tackle Kate casey Ce at
- 20:23Speaker 1: thirty one, casey c at thirty one, Yeah, gab Achis
- 20:27Speaker 1: or Derek Moore at sixty three, whoever you like better?
- 20:29Speaker 1: Mark hal Bell at ninety five, injuries at one twenty five,
- 20:34Speaker 1: Jeremiah Wright at one thirty one. I think you said
- 20:37Speaker 1: linebacker in there, fine with all and Aiden Fisher at
- 20:40Speaker 1: one seventy one. Like, I think that's I'm fine with
- 20:43Speaker 1: all that, but I'm not then going and trading a
- 20:45Speaker 1: high pick in twenty twenty seven for a J.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Brown.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I think he's still good a way. I's it's a
- 20:50Speaker 1: lot of assets at one position.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I don't need to do that.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You don't need to. You don't need to. But I
- 20:54Speaker 1: think that that would be if it's just a second
- 20:56Speaker 1: round pick, I would still do that.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I don't know. It's a lot of it.
- 21:02Speaker 8: Is.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It's not what I would personally do, but I think
- 21:04Speaker 1: I said you would do that. I said this is
- 21:07Speaker 1: what it would look like. I don't think it's like
- 21:08Speaker 1: an inexcusable thing to consider.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I would also just say that whether I would do
- 21:14Speaker 2: like I do not think that they would invest that
- 21:16Speaker 2: much at wide receiver, both from a because remember, at
- 21:21Speaker 2: the end of the day, when you make a draft pick,
- 21:23Speaker 2: you're it's also even though it's not necessarily a financial
- 21:26Speaker 2: commitment in terms of it's a ton of money, you're
- 21:29Speaker 2: you're using that asset as a financial commitment for the
- 21:31Speaker 2: next four or five years to have a guy on
- 21:34Speaker 2: a rookie contract and all that good stuff. So you're
- 21:37Speaker 2: gonna pay Romeo Dobbs a substantial amount of money and
- 21:39Speaker 2: free agency, You're gonna pay aj Brown a substantial contract
- 21:43Speaker 2: while he's on the roster, and you're gonna use one
- 21:45Speaker 2: of your better assets a first round pick this year
- 21:48Speaker 2: in another wide receiver. Yeah, it was to me. It's
- 21:51Speaker 2: just not cost effective. It does you're not allocating resources.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It's not a great allocation of resources. It is a
- 21:58Speaker 1: tremendous investment in Drake may Well.
- 22:01Speaker 2: He's got to be upright in order to thread it all.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So again, if you want to say like there's a
- 22:06Speaker 1: very strong case to take a tackle at thirty one,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I've been there. You're you're going back and forth on
- 22:10Speaker 1: this because I'm not a couple of weeks ago you
- 22:12Speaker 1: said you didn't want them to be.
- 22:16Speaker 2: It's in twenty twenty seven, like, so like now, like
- 22:19Speaker 2: at some point I need to draft a tackle, whether
- 22:21Speaker 2: it's this year, it's next year. But now, if I'm
- 22:23Speaker 2: giving up an asset for AJ Brown next year, which
- 22:26Speaker 2: if you listen to all the reporting, I'm saying, I
- 22:28Speaker 2: wouldn't give up more than the second. They might have
- 22:30Speaker 2: to give up more.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Okay, they might have to give up their first round pick.
- 22:34Speaker 2: And so now like at some point in the next
- 22:36Speaker 2: two drafts, and you're gonna have to draft the right.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Tackle, well, you'd still have your first next year.
- 22:40Speaker 2: If you if you got AJ Brown for less than
- 22:42Speaker 2: the FI I'm.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Still saying I wouldn't give up the first ranger. I'm
- 22:45Speaker 1: with you on that.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Okay, then you might not get AJ Brown, Well.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Then you better draft case he concept you. So like
- 22:51Speaker 1: this is he's not gonna be there, so it doesn't matter.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I just feel like this is kind of a in
- 22:56Speaker 2: my opinion, this is kind of a one or the
- 22:58Speaker 2: other situation.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and that might be over if they were to
- 23:03Speaker 1: do it. That, in my mind is how it would work,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and it wouldn't be like a disaster.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's going to be a disaster, and
- 23:11Speaker 2: it would be a hell of a lot of fun
- 23:13Speaker 2: to have Drake may throw into all those different types
- 23:15Speaker 2: of guys. It just it's there's other positions on the
- 23:19Speaker 2: roster that they have to take care of, and I
- 23:22Speaker 2: just don't know if I love the allocation of resources
- 23:25Speaker 2: investing in all in wide receiver. And yeah, it would
- 23:28Speaker 2: be great. It would be fun to watch. It certainly
- 23:32Speaker 2: would be great to finally not have to continue to
- 23:34Speaker 2: talk about wide receiver every April, you know, like maybe
- 23:37Speaker 2: we'd finally get out of that cycle. But offensive line
- 23:41Speaker 2: depth and especially tackle depth would be a big concern
- 23:44Speaker 2: of mine pass rush off the edge. Like maybe if
- 23:47Speaker 2: you can get that guy in the second round, I still,
- 23:49Speaker 2: you know, I like a lot of the guys that
- 23:51Speaker 2: they can get at the second round. I'm not sure
- 23:53Speaker 2: that guy is going to be a three down player,
- 23:55Speaker 2: though it might be somebody that has a specialty, you know,
- 23:57Speaker 2: really good edge setter the first round going to be
- 24:00Speaker 2: a three down player. I think there's a couple that
- 24:02Speaker 2: could be. Okay, you know, I don't know, like I'm
- 24:05Speaker 2: gonna you're your opinion is probably gonna be the one
- 24:08Speaker 2: that gets is going to win the popular vote here
- 24:11Speaker 2: because everybody would sign up for a J Brown, KCC
- 24:14Speaker 2: and Romeo Dobs like that's just fun. And if we're
- 24:17Speaker 2: playing fantasy football, that's just fun.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I look, I know you can't drop that much into it,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but if they were like as long as it's like
- 24:26Speaker 1: Denzel Boston, No, I don't think Denzel Boston works. If
- 24:29Speaker 1: you're trying to just that's just loading up to that.
- 24:31Speaker 1: That's just adding wide receivers because of the position. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I don't love that. But I think with KCC, just
- 24:36Speaker 1: because you can slot everybody in, it would work fair enough.
- 24:38Speaker 2: All right, Well that was a good debate because because
- 24:41Speaker 2: you know what I know, I'm my take is probably
- 24:43Speaker 2: going to be unpopular, and the fact that I wouldn't
- 24:45Speaker 2: do all of that, but I just I look at it,
- 24:50Speaker 2: look at the whole football team. I think they need
- 24:53Speaker 2: a lot of help in other areas to make you work.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You're really threading the needle. If you were to make
- 24:58Speaker 1: that work, you have to really thread.
- 24:59Speaker 2: The You're really, in my opinion, counting on two things.
- 25:04Speaker 2: You're counting on the edge rusher. You're drafting at sixty
- 25:07Speaker 2: three us to be right about the gap right right,
- 25:09Speaker 2: that the edge rusher at sixty three is not that
- 25:11Speaker 2: much worse than the edge rusher at thirty one, which
- 25:13Speaker 2: is the way that a lot of us, I'm going
- 25:15Speaker 2: to speak for myself, I think you are on the
- 25:17Speaker 2: same page. We kind of feel like this is one
- 25:19Speaker 2: of those classes where that might actually be the case.
- 25:22Speaker 2: But if there's some insane run of edge rushers on
- 25:26Speaker 2: you know, the let's say at the top of the
- 25:27Speaker 2: second round, you know, and r Mason Thomas and mal
- 25:30Speaker 2: Ki Lawrence and Gay Achis and you know, maybe Derek Moore,
- 25:34Speaker 2: Like if all those guys are gone by the time
- 25:36Speaker 2: you get to pick sixty three, I don't know if
- 25:38Speaker 2: I feel that way as much anymore. Like now you're
- 25:40Speaker 2: trying to get into the dds key on Crawford's maybe
- 25:44Speaker 2: borrow them, you know, like that sort of category, you know,
- 25:47Speaker 2: Ramelow height, you know, those types of players and the
- 25:51Speaker 2: offensive line would really concern me because I think what
- 25:54Speaker 2: you would really be counting on is hitting a lottery
- 25:56Speaker 2: ticket on day three at tackle.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I just think you may have to do that anyway.
- 25:59Speaker 1: You might if the if the seven tackles go before
- 26:03Speaker 1: pick thirty one, which could very well happen like that
- 26:06Speaker 1: decision might be made for you.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That's fair, it absolutely might, and that that's to me
- 26:12Speaker 2: what this draft comes down to, because I think at
- 26:14Speaker 2: the end of the day, they're picking at thirty one.
- 26:17Speaker 2: If they pick at thirty one, they're picking between edgresser
- 26:20Speaker 2: and tackle. Like I think that I would probably see
- 26:25Speaker 2: them going tackle if one of those guys falls. Maybe
- 26:27Speaker 2: not Lomu Like he's the one guy that I still
- 26:29Speaker 2: am not totally sold on. But if Miller Oreana Chor
- 26:33Speaker 2: is there at thirty one, I think he would be
- 26:34Speaker 2: the pick. But if that player isn't there, then I
- 26:37Speaker 2: think they're going edge like wide receiver these other positions.
- 26:40Speaker 2: To me, they have to have really fallen in love
- 26:43Speaker 2: with somebody in the pre draft process for them to
- 26:46Speaker 2: do that over those two that when I did my
- 26:49Speaker 2: final mack, it came down to am I gonna do
- 26:51Speaker 2: tackle again or am I gonna go edge? Like it's
- 26:53Speaker 2: like those are the two spots. Let's do our top ten. Max.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I ha seen the phones and the emails. Everybody wants
- 26:58Speaker 2: to get involved, So we'll try to go quickly through
- 27:01Speaker 2: this because it's not really that patriot centric to be honest,
- 27:04Speaker 2: but I think it's still a useful exercise to change.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Mind since the one I put out earlier this week,
- 27:09Speaker 1: because there's been more noise.
- 27:10Speaker 2: So okay, uh we can Can we skip over one
- 27:14Speaker 2: banana Mendoza men? The one little take I'm gonna say
- 27:17Speaker 2: about Mendoza, I personally am surprised, and I think it's
- 27:21Speaker 2: just because it's boring because everybody's known Mendoza is going
- 27:24Speaker 2: to the Raiders for six months. I think Mendoza is
- 27:27Speaker 2: not getting enough credit for how good of a prospect
- 27:29Speaker 2: he is. I think Mendoza is a really good quarterback prospect,
- 27:32Speaker 2: like probably you know in that same Caleb Williams, Drake
- 27:37Speaker 2: made it and Daniels Tier.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I think he's like half a step below that.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I think he's pretty close to that tier, if not
- 27:42Speaker 2: in it.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Let me ask you this, all right, so we'll put
- 27:44Speaker 1: him rank them. We'll go back to the last few years Mendoza, Ward,
- 27:49Speaker 1: Caleb Williams, jayde and Daniels Drake, May, Bryce Young, CJ.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Stroud, some good guys and rank them. There's a lot
- 27:58Speaker 2: of guys to rank. Cam Ward's definitely.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I guess what they were. Anthony Richardson into I was
- 28:04Speaker 1: trying to talk.
- 28:05Speaker 2: I don't have to do. The only other one that
- 28:06Speaker 2: was cam Woard is definitely at the bottom, you know,
- 28:09Speaker 2: he's he's the worst as prospects.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Like how you felt about them coming out.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's hard.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I would say.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Drake draft I still think.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Is the top. No individual like individual.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I know, but I still think you still Caleb, Jaden Daniels,
- 28:27Speaker 2: and Drake May were s tier prospects.
- 28:30Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Uh, I didn't really like Bryce Young coming.
- 28:34Speaker 1: In either small I would I would go Drake's draft
- 28:37Speaker 1: in that order, I think is how I had them.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I think I would go Drake's draft one, two, three.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I think I had it Caleb, Drake, Daniels, if I
- 28:45Speaker 2: remember correctly.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I kept going back and forth. Maybe Daniels, I don't remember.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I don't remember. I probably finished with me somewhere in
- 28:50Speaker 2: that top three. Mendoza, Okay, Stroud, Bryce Young, cam Ward.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I'd probably switch cam Ward and Bryce Young and then
- 29:03Speaker 1: I'd be there. I wasn't that into that's fair Bryce Young.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I think Bryce Young was a little bit more accurate
- 29:09Speaker 2: and a little bit better of a passer coming out
- 29:11Speaker 2: than cam Ward was.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I just the sized thing all he the sized
- 29:15Speaker 1: thing always. I'm sizest when it comes to quarterback.
- 29:18Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I well that that's just what surprises me about Mendoza,
- 29:22Speaker 2: because Mendoza has a size. He good size, Yeah, and
- 29:24Speaker 2: I think it's underrated. Like he's got a great frame
- 29:26Speaker 2: on him, like dense, like big dude.
- 29:29Speaker 1: He's built like an old school All these quarterbacks now
- 29:32Speaker 1: are like these lean like kind of stick figure guys. Yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: he's six five forty, Like he's a tank.
- 29:38Speaker 2: He's a dude's a tank. I really really think that
- 29:42Speaker 2: his arm talent is good enough. I've never been super
- 29:45Speaker 2: high on his arm talent, Like I don't think that
- 29:46Speaker 2: he's got a rocket or anything like that. But you
- 29:48Speaker 2: watch him throw, you know, I did watch a lot
- 29:50Speaker 2: of like Omar Cooper and a Serrat and stuff obviously,
- 29:53Speaker 2: and you watch him throw those back shoulders and his
- 29:56Speaker 2: anticipation on those outs and stuff like that, it's really
- 29:59Speaker 2: really good, like pro caliber arm strength into the boundary
- 30:03Speaker 2: and really good timing with those throws as well. I
- 30:06Speaker 2: think he sees it feel pretty well. He's not super mobile,
- 30:10Speaker 2: but when he put together some of the NFL style
- 30:14Speaker 2: throws that he has on film with the IQ and
- 30:18Speaker 2: the makeup and the you know, and then obviously the
- 30:21Speaker 2: body type. I think he's a pretty good prospect, Like,
- 30:25Speaker 2: maybe not as good as those three that we mentioned,
- 30:27Speaker 2: but I think he's probably closer to that group than
- 30:29Speaker 2: he is to the Bryce Youngs and the cam Wards
- 30:32Speaker 2: of the world.
- 30:33Speaker 1: My one take on the Raiders at one actually doesn't
- 30:36Speaker 1: have to do with the first overall pick. I think
- 30:37Speaker 1: I've said this on this show before, but everybody looks
- 30:39Speaker 1: at like the Jets at thirty three and the Cardinals
- 30:41Speaker 1: at thirty four as teams that could move up the
- 30:44Speaker 1: Raiders at thirty six. They have some extra assets you
- 30:46Speaker 1: really want to maximize taking this kid first overall. If
- 30:50Speaker 1: a receiver falls like Boston or Conception, or one of
- 30:53Speaker 1: the tackles falls, moving up from thirty six to grab
- 30:57Speaker 1: the faller, either at tackle or at receiver could be
- 31:01Speaker 1: a really good investment in Fernando Mendoza, because I don't
- 31:04Speaker 1: know that those guys are getting all the way to
- 31:05Speaker 1: thirty six. So now I know Patriots fans probably don't
- 31:09Speaker 1: want to hear that because they're trade down and right.
- 31:11Speaker 2: If I was to need uh, sorry to cut you off.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But if I was the Raiders, I would I would
- 31:16Speaker 2: go after Sarrat like I think Gomark Cooper junior is
- 31:21Speaker 2: uh is. It would be a fine pick for them.
- 31:25Speaker 2: With Mendoz obviously they played together and had success together.
- 31:28Speaker 2: But the way that he wants to throw the ball
- 31:31Speaker 2: down the field and attack down the field, the outs,
- 31:34Speaker 2: the back shoulders, the high point, like to me like
- 31:37Speaker 2: Surrat was really kind of his binkie, Like that was
- 31:40Speaker 2: the guy that he trusted the most. Cooper was the
- 31:43Speaker 2: more explosive player obviously and the much better ball carrier
- 31:47Speaker 2: after the catch, but I think Sarrat was kind of
- 31:49Speaker 2: like his third and had to have it his clutch
- 31:52Speaker 2: like late in games. One of the things I really
- 31:54Speaker 2: like about Sarrat is how good he was big in
- 31:57Speaker 2: you know, in clutch situations, you know, tight and late right,
- 32:00Speaker 2: Like had some really big catches down the stretch for them.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I feel like that's the kind of guy that's going
- 32:05Speaker 2: to be like his make him feel comfortable.
- 32:07Speaker 1: The one thing I'd worry about is he going to
- 32:09Speaker 1: be too comfortable with somebody who's familiar and you want
- 32:11Speaker 1: him spreading the ball more. In the NFL that has
- 32:13Speaker 1: worked a lot with getting quarterbacks to college receiver, but
- 32:16Speaker 1: usually you do that in year two or year three.
- 32:18Speaker 1: You can go draft Charlie Becker next year. Who's that guy?
- 32:20Speaker 1: He kept throwing the jump balls too. I had them
- 32:23Speaker 1: just for an example in my mock. I had them
- 32:26Speaker 1: moving up to twenty eight with the Texans, and it's
- 32:29Speaker 1: basically the exact same trade the Texans made last year
- 32:31Speaker 1: when they moved back with the Giants. So it's twenty
- 32:33Speaker 1: eight for thirty six one two in a future third
- 32:36Speaker 1: and taking Maxie Honachre Because I don't think Delmar Glaze
- 32:39Speaker 1: is a starting right tackle in the NFL. I just
- 32:41Speaker 1: don't think he's good enough. I might be, and if
- 32:44Speaker 1: you have to start the season with Glaze and then transition,
- 32:46Speaker 1: you probably can. But you're gonna have two really good
- 32:48Speaker 1: tackles with Colton Miller on the other side, keeping Fanana
- 32:51Speaker 1: Mendoz up right. I think that would make a lot
- 32:53Speaker 1: of sense. Don't sleep on the Raiders being a trade
- 32:55Speaker 1: up team.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Okay, number two the Jets. So I think it's between
- 32:59Speaker 2: two eyes for the Jets, David Bailey or RVL Rees.
- 33:03Speaker 2: But what I keep coming back to, and maybe they're
- 33:09Speaker 2: a little bit arrogant and they're just gonna trust themselves.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Rvel Reeses is kind of a interesting projection. It's kind
- 33:17Speaker 2: of hard to is he a linebacker? Is he an
- 33:18Speaker 2: edge dresser? His best role is probably doing a little
- 33:22Speaker 2: bit of both. Like, that's a pretty creative player to
- 33:26Speaker 2: take on a coaching staff that you're not entirely sold on,
- 33:29Speaker 2: Like are you if you're the Jets new general manager?
- 33:32Speaker 2: Who I butcher his name every single time? But if
- 33:35Speaker 2: you're the Jets new general manager, how confident are you
- 33:38Speaker 2: and Aaron Glenn figuring out rvel rees and his deployment
- 33:44Speaker 2: in figuring out how to use that kind of player.
- 33:46Speaker 2: So with all those sort of let's call them small
- 33:50Speaker 2: sea concerns, because I think rvel rees is a hell
- 33:52Speaker 2: of a prospect. But it's just easier for them to
- 33:55Speaker 2: draft David Bailey, Isn't it? Like it's just easier for them.
- 33:58Speaker 2: They know where David Bailey is gonna play. He's gonna
- 34:00Speaker 2: play on the edge. He's pretty good at it. He's
- 34:03Speaker 2: obviously one of the better pressure guys, and just in
- 34:05Speaker 2: terms of pressure rates and things like that, out of
- 34:07Speaker 2: this class, it's just a much more straightforward, fairway kind
- 34:10Speaker 2: of pick.
- 34:11Speaker 1: It is weird, though, right that they canceled their visit
- 34:13Speaker 1: with Bailey.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It is weird, but but now all I don't know all.
- 34:18Speaker 1: The smoke out there is it's gonna be Bailey.
- 34:20Speaker 2: So I just feel like, is it Mogi Morgie Darren
- 34:27Speaker 2: their general manager? They just hired their general manager Aaron
- 34:31Speaker 2: Glenn just had a bad off first season, giving him
- 34:35Speaker 2: a what I think, because if you're gonna make RVL
- 34:37Speaker 2: recent edge and we're gonna d to him a little
- 34:39Speaker 2: bit in a second too, like he's a little bit
- 34:41Speaker 2: of a project at that position. If you aren't sold
- 34:45Speaker 2: that the coach is going to be there beyond next
- 34:47Speaker 2: year yet, are you really going to give him this
- 34:51Speaker 2: like raw ball? I'm saying they are gonna take David
- 34:54Speaker 2: Bailey and try to hit this thing center cut down
- 34:57Speaker 2: the fairway.
- 34:58Speaker 1: I still think RVILL rees just because it's super rare.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I think eighty three percent of all top ten picks
- 35:07Speaker 1: at a top thirty visit with their team. I guess
- 35:09Speaker 1: that leaves two that don't two of every ten.
- 35:12Speaker 2: But yep, you just don't know. They go down to
- 35:15Speaker 2: Texas Tech like there's other ways.
- 35:17Speaker 1: It is also the Jets, I mean they're wild card.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I'll go with Bailey. Sure, but I go back and
- 35:23Speaker 1: forth on this. I'm not sure.
- 35:24Speaker 2: So number three is the Cardinals. I know there's a
- 35:26Speaker 2: lot of buzz right now about Jeremiah Love to the
- 35:28Speaker 2: Cadinals that that seems to be the hot He's.
- 35:30Speaker 1: The best collar available as this second best player available
- 35:34Speaker 1: as Bord stands right now. But they don't need a safety.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Number three to the Cardinals. I still have them taking rees.
- 35:40Speaker 2: I still have them been taking Rvill Reves, not Jeremiah Love.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Francis Malugo. Oh okay, I've been on this.
- 35:48Speaker 1: On the Monks, I'm sticking with this. They have a
- 35:52Speaker 1: good left tackle and Paris Johnson Junior. If you get
- 35:55Speaker 1: a good right tackle, whatever quarterback's going to step in,
- 35:57Speaker 1: whoever's going to step in. Kind of like I just
- 35:59Speaker 1: said with Mendoza, you're in great shape at one of
- 36:01Speaker 1: the maybe the second hardest position to be at great
- 36:04Speaker 1: shape in. I think Maligo as a dude, I think
- 36:06Speaker 1: he can play. I think him falling is more prospect
- 36:08Speaker 1: fatigue than anything else. I know there's some questions about
- 36:11Speaker 1: something in his back, but I think a chance to
- 36:14Speaker 1: get a tackle like that when they Cardinals have something
- 36:17Speaker 1: on defense, like they've got a little bit of buzz there,
- 36:19Speaker 1: they really don't have anything on offense. I think if
- 36:20Speaker 1: you add Maligo, whether you're adding ty Simpson later, whether
- 36:23Speaker 1: you're getting a quarterback in the future, him and Paris
- 36:25Speaker 1: Johnson is a really good tackle duo, and I'm standing
- 36:30Speaker 1: by that. But what I will say is if he
- 36:31Speaker 1: doesn't go here, and you look at kind of the
- 36:33Speaker 1: projections going down, he could fall.
- 36:35Speaker 2: That's why I don't. I don't have him in my
- 36:37Speaker 2: top ten.
- 36:37Speaker 1: And that would be tremendous news for the Patriots because
- 36:40Speaker 1: if he doesn't go top ten, everybody, you're not getting
- 36:43Speaker 1: all seven tackles in the top thirty, You're not getting it.
- 36:46Speaker 2: I think.
- 36:46Speaker 1: So I'm interested you don't have him top ten.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I don't.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I think there's a pretty clear top ten in this draft,
- 36:51Speaker 1: and whatever order they go into Mendoza, Bailey, Reese, Love Styles,
- 36:55Speaker 1: Bane Maui goa Down's delaye Tait in whatever order. I
- 37:00Speaker 1: think after that is when it opens up. So you
- 37:02Speaker 1: you either do you have Maligoa going below his talent
- 37:06Speaker 1: level or do you think there's somebody else in that
- 37:07Speaker 1: clear top ten.
- 37:08Speaker 2: No, I think there's somebody else, No, I think I'm
- 37:11Speaker 2: with you on nine of the ten. I think that
- 37:14Speaker 2: the things with Maligo and I would say the same
- 37:16Speaker 2: thing about Spencer. Fine, yeah, Maligoa, I I'm a little
- 37:21Speaker 2: bit concerned about him playing tackle in the NFL. He
- 37:24Speaker 2: has the length, you know, it's it's above threshold, it's
- 37:27Speaker 2: like thirty three and plus right, But he's built like
- 37:31Speaker 2: more like a wider body. He's built more like a
- 37:34Speaker 2: guard than he is a tackle. I understand that. You know,
- 37:38Speaker 2: Will Campbell, this one for Will Campbell is a much
- 37:40Speaker 2: better athlete, I would say than Maligoa. There's also been
- 37:43Speaker 2: some injury stuff with Maligoa that's come up. I know
- 37:45Speaker 2: everybody says he's going to be fine, but picking that
- 37:48Speaker 2: player in the top ten, that is kind of a
- 37:51Speaker 2: tweeter player to begin with, and then he's also got
- 37:54Speaker 2: some maybe injury thing. You know, This is why I
- 37:56Speaker 2: also didn't have Fino in my top ten, because I
- 37:59Speaker 2: think might be a before this is all said and down,
- 38:03Speaker 2: and you know, that's that's a high pick to be
- 38:05Speaker 2: using on an interior offensive lineman to begin with, let
- 38:07Speaker 2: alone the center. So I added Mendoza, Bailey Reese. I
- 38:13Speaker 2: hear the arguments from Maligo. I'm number four with the Titans.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Uh if? Now the Cardinals are the Jeremiah Love darling
- 38:23Speaker 2: of the insiders, The Titans have been a Jeremiah Love
- 38:27Speaker 2: projection for a lot of people. I don't have them
- 38:29Speaker 2: taking Love either. I have them taking Cardinal Tate. I
- 38:33Speaker 2: just feel like I've even seen that anywhere I know,
- 38:37Speaker 2: And that's why I'm going with it because things this
- 38:39Speaker 2: draft feels unpredictable.
- 38:40Speaker 1: That would piss off a lot of teams.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I think this draft feels really unpredictable because there's not
- 38:45Speaker 2: a ton of consensus on the top of the board.
- 38:48Speaker 2: There's not My argument for Cardinal Taate is that if
- 38:51Speaker 2: you're the Tennessee Titans, isn't everything geared towards trying to
- 38:55Speaker 2: make cam Ward happen? Right? You need to make cam
- 38:58Speaker 2: Ward a thing. You need to get cam Ward going,
- 39:01Speaker 2: and you need to get him operational. I can hear
- 39:04Speaker 2: arguments for doing that with Jeremiah Love, but I think
- 39:07Speaker 2: they they fail because I think the oh, get the
- 39:11Speaker 2: young quarterback a run game? How helpful would that be?
- 39:13Speaker 2: You know, I don't buy that. You know that, Yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 2: Carnal Tate's the best receiver in the draft. In my opinion,
- 39:19Speaker 2: he's easy, definitely the cleanest receiver right because I don't
- 39:22Speaker 2: know what's going on with Jordan Tyson's hamstrings and stuff
- 39:24Speaker 2: like that. So I'm going Carnal Tate here to the Titans.
- 39:28Speaker 2: You get cam Ward, a legit number one wide receiver
- 39:31Speaker 2: to grow with a young player for him, if they're
- 39:34Speaker 2: gonna go skilled player, it just everything screams that it
- 39:40Speaker 2: makes more sense as an organization to go wide receiver
- 39:42Speaker 2: than running back.
- 39:44Speaker 1: It's a good argument. I just went back in the
- 39:46Speaker 1: mock draft day to Bay seven pages, went back about
- 39:48Speaker 1: a month. There was three mocks that have Carnal Tate
- 39:51Speaker 1: to the Titans. There's actually more that have him to
- 39:52Speaker 1: the Jets at two than happen to the Titans at four.
- 39:55Speaker 1: So if I'm right about this and this is worth
- 39:57Speaker 1: the victory, lab, I agree there thing you said, But
- 40:01Speaker 1: what I will add to it is this defensive coach
- 40:04Speaker 1: really going to go offense with his first pick.
- 40:05Speaker 2: So I can the other guy that I did never
- 40:08Speaker 2: considered love here. By the way, the other guy I
- 40:11Speaker 2: considered here with Sonny Styles, I think that Sonny Styles
- 40:14Speaker 2: in a Robert Solid defense is basically Fred Warner right,
- 40:18Speaker 2: he's not gonna be as good. I'm not saying like,
- 40:20Speaker 2: don't do that whole thing, but that's the idea.
- 40:23Speaker 1: That's the role. Well or Reseert Baine and you just
- 40:25Speaker 1: get better off the edge or Bailey or whoever falls right.
- 40:28Speaker 1: It just feels like to me, I think this is
- 40:30Speaker 1: the best defensive player. I think this is either going
- 40:32Speaker 1: to be that was the old Bailey or Bane, depending
- 40:35Speaker 1: on what happens at the top there.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I went carnal tape because I think that they need excitement,
- 40:39Speaker 2: and I also think that they need to make cam wardwork.
- 40:42Speaker 2: And the third thing that I would just mention, and
- 40:43Speaker 2: I know that this doesn't get taught to. In my opinion,
- 40:45Speaker 2: this doesn't get talked about enough. The the cost effectiveness
- 40:51Speaker 2: of the pick right, especially for a team like the Titans,
- 40:54Speaker 2: which let's face it, ownership is a little.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Bit well stadium.
- 41:00Speaker 2: It makes so much more financial sense just from an
- 41:02Speaker 2: asset management standpoint to draft a wide receiver there than
- 41:05Speaker 2: it does to draft an off ball linebacker running back.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Well, Well, that's why I throw the edge rushers in
- 41:10Speaker 1: because like.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Jeremiah Love drafting him there is gonna be what a
- 41:13Speaker 2: top five painting running back against it.
- 41:17Speaker 1: That's why I throw the edge rushers in there too, though.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but I had Bailey already and already going, so
- 41:22Speaker 2: carnalson not Bane.
- 41:23Speaker 1: You don't think Bangals that high.
- 41:25Speaker 2: I do't get the bank, so I go Mendoza. Bailey
- 41:28Speaker 2: wreathed Tait number five.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Uh.
- 41:34Speaker 2: John Harbaugh feels like a Jeremiah Love guy.
- 41:37Speaker 1: John Harbaugh feels like a Caleb Downs guy.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I considered Caleb Downs as well, but I just feel
- 41:43Speaker 2: like he is gonna want to establish a tone to
- 41:49Speaker 2: that program. He ran the ball a ton in Baltimore.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Obviously he had Lamar Jackson, but he still ran the
- 41:55Speaker 2: ball a ton in Baltimore. I am not sold on
- 41:58Speaker 2: Jackson Dart, so in this case, I actually want to
- 42:00Speaker 2: take the ball out of Jackson Dart's hands if I can.
- 42:03Speaker 2: If I'm the Giants, Jackson Dark can move around a
- 42:06Speaker 2: little bit too. So you kind of have a two
- 42:07Speaker 2: man game back there a little bit with Jeremiah Love,
- 42:09Speaker 2: but it just feels like Derrick Henry and with Baltimore
- 42:14Speaker 2: was kind of his guy. Jeremiah Love comes in and
- 42:18Speaker 2: they kind of said we're going to be a physical
- 42:20Speaker 2: run first football team with one of the best running
- 42:23Speaker 2: backs in the draft.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Caleb Downs. Harballs saw what that safety
- 42:27Speaker 1: can do for defense. He had Kyle Hamilton in Baltimore.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Gets his Kyle Hamilton for a team that really needs
- 42:32Speaker 1: defense more than needs offense. I'm gonna go Kyle Hamilton here,
- 42:36Speaker 1: Caleb Downs. Kyle Hamilton is.
- 42:38Speaker 2: The edguair enough all right? Number six with the Cleveland Browns.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I have them taking Ruben Bay, okay, but Miles Garrett
- 42:46Speaker 2: on one side, Ruben Band on the other. Who knows
- 42:49Speaker 2: how long Miles Garrett's going to be a Cleveland Brown
- 42:51Speaker 2: I think that thing is starting to really run its course.
- 42:55Speaker 2: I know he just signed an extension there, but I
- 42:57Speaker 2: think in general that whether it's retirement eventually, or it's
- 43:02Speaker 2: moving on to a different team or whatever, I don't
- 43:04Speaker 2: know how much longer Miles Garrett's going to be in Cleveland.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Rubin Bain. The last couple of years with the Browns,
- 43:11Speaker 2: they've done some unorthodox drafting. I think it was putting
- 43:15Speaker 2: it politely. You know, Mason Graham, it really worked with Squaestionnger.
- 43:21Speaker 2: You know, that was a home run pick for them.
- 43:23Speaker 2: They've picked some players that have had some sort of
- 43:26Speaker 2: questions and not exactly like the consensus guy. Ruben Bain's
- 43:30Speaker 2: got the arm length thing, but I think the tape
- 43:32Speaker 2: is fantastic. I think the bend, the power obviously, the
- 43:36Speaker 2: strength in his hands off the edge is fantastic. I
- 43:40Speaker 2: have the Browns taking Ruben.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Bain, so I would have the Browns taking Carnel Tate.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I said them on the board. I think if you're
- 43:47Speaker 1: gonna try to make it work with this quarterback group,
- 43:48Speaker 1: Sho or whoever, that's who it is. But last luck
- 43:51Speaker 1: with that, Good luck with that. I'm not saying that's
- 43:54Speaker 1: what's gonna work, but like, if this is what you're
- 43:56Speaker 1: going with, go with it, right Carnel Tate, you keep
- 43:58Speaker 1: them in, you keep them home in the state of Ohio.
- 44:00Speaker 1: But last week, mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and Dadan Brugler
- 44:06Speaker 1: all had the Cowboys trading up specifically to pick six
- 44:09Speaker 1: in their mock drafts, and they all had nearly identical trades.
- 44:15Speaker 1: As the Great League. Corso likes to say, it seems
- 44:18Speaker 1: like somebody knows something I don't and I'm going with someone.
- 44:23Speaker 1: So I am going to have the Dallas Cowboys come
- 44:25Speaker 1: up to six. The general trade that was thrown out there,
- 44:29Speaker 1: and again there's like slight variations of it because the
- 44:31Speaker 1: Cowboys have two first and the Browns have two first
- 44:33Speaker 1: and extra second. It's six and thirty nine for twelve
- 44:37Speaker 1: and twenty. So now the Browns have three first round picks,
- 44:41Speaker 1: which is, I don't know how you feel about giving
- 44:44Speaker 1: the Browns three first round picks. Bow correct Cowboys, knee defense, defense,
- 44:49Speaker 1: defense defense. Well, so I was actually between Baine and Styles.
- 44:54Speaker 1: I think those two are a step above. Styles is
- 44:56Speaker 1: the only one of these guys they've met with. So
- 44:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Sunny Styles here at six to the Cowboys. Okay,
- 45:01Speaker 1: that's fair, But if it was the brown stick and pick,
- 45:04Speaker 1: I would go Carnel Tape.
- 45:05Speaker 2: So Mendoza to the Raiders, Bailey to the Jets, Reached
- 45:09Speaker 2: to the Cardinals, Tate to the Titans, Love to the Giants,
- 45:12Speaker 2: Bane to the Browns.
- 45:13Speaker 1: And I have Mendoza, Bailey, Mawigoa, Reese down Styles, I
- 45:18Speaker 1: have three Ohio State picks in a row. Will I
- 45:20Speaker 1: go for four here because I still have Carneal Tate
- 45:22Speaker 1: on the board.
- 45:23Speaker 2: So number seven to the Washington the Commanders.
- 45:25Speaker 1: I'm also but I'm doing this as we go. I'm
- 45:27Speaker 1: changing from if you want to see my actual mock
- 45:28Speaker 1: draft ninety five the sports dot Com nice plug.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I think Adam Peters and Dan Quinn would sprint the
- 45:35Speaker 2: Sunny Styles card up to the Williams at this point. Yeah,
- 45:39Speaker 2: if they he is there at seven, talk about a
- 45:41Speaker 2: Fred Warner a dream sort of scenario for them. I
- 45:44Speaker 2: think that Sunny Styles is still on the board at
- 45:47Speaker 2: this point. Another defense that obviously major's in the a
- 45:51Speaker 2: lot of zone kind of. It's more of a Seattle
- 45:54Speaker 2: three based system, but similar to what Robert Solid you
- 45:57Speaker 2: know runs and what uh those you know? Fred Warner
- 46:00Speaker 2: teams run Sonny Styles, and the Commanders defense is a
- 46:03Speaker 2: perfect fit. I really like that one. I did consider
- 46:07Speaker 2: Sonny Styles with the Giants as well. I think that
- 46:10Speaker 2: they really need to improve their run defense historically bad
- 46:14Speaker 2: run defense last year. But I think Washington lucks out
- 46:16Speaker 2: here and gets Sonny Styles at seven.
- 46:18Speaker 1: So I'm not going to go for Ohio State players
- 46:20Speaker 1: in a row this. I still have Jeremiah Love on
- 46:23Speaker 1: the board. You I'm gonna have Jeremiah Good.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I'm happy, good, good for you, good for not taking
- 46:28Speaker 2: the running back too high.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I think in my action one I took him forth,
- 46:31Speaker 1: but I am going ninth at one point. Yeah, I'm
- 46:35Speaker 1: gonna have him going seventh here to the commanders take
- 46:39Speaker 1: some of the workload up. This is one we're adding
- 46:41Speaker 1: a running back. I know you kind of said it
- 46:43Speaker 1: before about you know, it doesn't really help cam Ward
- 46:45Speaker 1: out a lot if you give him a good running back.
- 46:48Speaker 1: This one it helps because Jane Daniels is such an
- 46:50Speaker 1: intricate part of their run game. It's gonna help him
- 46:53Speaker 1: verisically Lamar Derrick Henry exactly different backs obviously, right, But
- 46:57Speaker 1: so you're gonna put him back there. He's going to
- 46:59Speaker 1: be a little more of a volume back for you.
- 47:00Speaker 1: It's going to take some of the physical toll off
- 47:03Speaker 1: of Jane. Dan's going to be able to do some
- 47:04Speaker 1: really cool read option stuff. You can catch the ball
- 47:06Speaker 1: out of backfield too. Also, I don't know if you've
- 47:08Speaker 1: seen their running back depth chart, it's not particularly great.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Eckler's still there, right, but coming back from an injury,
- 47:14Speaker 2: I don't even think he is.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I know they signed for Shod White for like
- 47:18Speaker 1: a million dollars in a free agency It is Rashad White,
- 47:24Speaker 1: Jerome Ford, Bill Crosskey Merritt, and Jeremy McNichols is there.
- 47:29Speaker 1: They like Bill, but they do, but you need more
- 47:31Speaker 1: than one. This is another one. Like you said with
- 47:33Speaker 1: Sonny Styles, I think the commander sprint the card up here.
- 47:36Speaker 1: If Jeremia Love still on the board.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I agreed. Number eight Saints Caleb Downs. I'm not
- 47:43Speaker 2: overthinking Caleb Downs. I don't think the league will either. Really.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I think if you have him going all the way
- 47:47Speaker 1: to eight, you've overthought him.
- 47:48Speaker 2: No, I don't safety safety. He's eighty.
- 47:52Speaker 1: He's probably hell of a safety safety.
- 47:54Speaker 2: I just think everything safety and the Saints will appreciate.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I don't think they're exactly the same, but like you know,
- 48:00Speaker 2: the honey Badger, like they appreciate a play making safety
- 48:03Speaker 2: in New Orleans. Yeah, you know, like I think they
- 48:05Speaker 2: kind of get that whole thing and they'll get how
- 48:07Speaker 2: to use them. So I'm gonna go Caleb Downs here
- 48:09Speaker 2: at A to the Saints. So Mendozah, Bailey, Reese, Tate, Love,
- 48:13Speaker 2: Baying Styles, Downs, Uh, who do you have going to
- 48:17Speaker 2: New Orleans?
- 48:18Speaker 1: I have Carneal Tate. I'm gonna go back to Ohio
- 48:20Speaker 1: State here, nothing wrong with an Ohio State heavy wide
- 48:22Speaker 1: receiver room. They're gonna try to make it work with
- 48:25Speaker 1: with Tyler Shuck. So I think o'lave and take compliment
- 48:28Speaker 1: each other really well. I think that's a really good
- 48:30Speaker 1: one too. Dynamic. He's gonna give you kind of a more,
- 48:33Speaker 1: you know, bigger body option on the outside. Both guys
- 48:37Speaker 1: can stretch the field. I think they want to be
- 48:38Speaker 1: a vertical offense down there in New Orleans. So you know,
- 48:41Speaker 1: you put Carnel Tait into that offense with chrysal Lave
- 48:45Speaker 1: with some of the other guys they have, you're you're
- 48:48Speaker 1: maybe starting to build something there. You may be starting
- 48:50Speaker 1: to build something.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Number nine the kNs City Chiefs. I consider two players
- 48:55Speaker 2: now because I have Mendozah Bailey, Reese, Tate, love Baying
- 48:58Speaker 2: styles downs off the I considered montsour Delayne because they
- 49:03Speaker 2: just traded. I don't know, but he's a style check.
- 49:07Speaker 2: That dude's awesome. I think he's gonna be help.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I feel like nobody's talking about him, which is always
- 49:12Speaker 1: a good good for you. If there's a corner in
- 49:14Speaker 1: the draft that's like not hyped up at all. But
- 49:16Speaker 1: consistently a top ten pick. It means nobody has the
- 49:19Speaker 1: tape on him because nobody ever trusts him. He's just
- 49:21Speaker 1: gonna go out there and be locked out, smooth.
- 49:23Speaker 2: As hell, just a really good player in my opinion.
- 49:26Speaker 2: They just traded Trent McDuffie. Yeah, it just makes sense.
- 49:30Speaker 1: This is the Vikings replacing Yep, the other guy.
- 49:33Speaker 2: That I considered here with Tyson obviously.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I just think.
- 49:36Speaker 2: That, you know, don't want they need to address that
- 49:40Speaker 2: at some point. But I I had them taking Delaney
- 49:43Speaker 2: Delayne here at nine. So Chiefs get Monsieur Delaney, one
- 49:48Speaker 2: of my delay Delayne, one of my favorite prospects in
- 49:52Speaker 2: the entire draft.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I am going to go ruben Bain. That just makes
- 49:56Speaker 1: a lot of sense for a lot of reasons.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Yep, number ten with the Giants rounding it out again.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Top ten Jordan Tyson.
- 50:02Speaker 1: So you think Tyson is one of the ten elite
- 50:06Speaker 1: players in this draft? Yes? So who don't you have
- 50:10Speaker 1: from what is kind of like the consensus? I don't
- 50:16Speaker 1: top ten.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have my Maligo going here, have him sliding,
- 50:20Speaker 2: you know, a little bit out of I.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Think the consensus. Top ten to me is Mendoza, Reese, Bailey,
- 50:24Speaker 1: Love Styles, Maligoa Downs, Tate Bayne, Delayne. I think after
- 50:29Speaker 1: that it gets a little Harry. I'd love to say
- 50:32Speaker 1: Delayane here again, there is I think there's a clear
- 50:35Speaker 1: ten best players and then everybody else. Giants did a
- 50:38Speaker 1: lot of work on Jordan Tyson and then suddenly traded
- 50:40Speaker 1: for that pick. I'm going Jordan Tyson.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Yep, that's exactly why I went. Jordan Tyson. Loading up,
- 50:46Speaker 2: so I have him getting Jeremiah Love and Jordan Tyson
- 50:49Speaker 2: and then also getting you know, obviously they have molike neighbors,
- 50:51Speaker 2: so now they have a lot of weapons to work
- 50:54Speaker 2: with around Jackson Dart On offense, I did consider offensive
- 50:58Speaker 2: line here as well, to try to just beef up
- 51:01Speaker 2: that team in general and just be, you know, on
- 51:03Speaker 2: a team that ground and pound kind of team. You
- 51:07Speaker 2: know that Harbaugh wants to build sneaky, sneaky vega Oyana team.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I'm just gonna throw that out there, like, I just
- 51:16Speaker 2: think that, you know, just again the Harbaugh thing, like
- 51:18Speaker 2: if he wants to bite kneecaps and win the line
- 51:21Speaker 2: of scrimmage and all that stuff and set a tone
- 51:23Speaker 2: and be a physical football team, I think that's possibly
- 51:26Speaker 2: in play, but I ended up there's too much smoke
- 51:28Speaker 2: around Tyson. I just don't know if they're gonna go
- 51:30Speaker 2: Tyson even as high as five. Like, how comfortable do
- 51:33Speaker 2: they feel that Tyson is gonna make it ten would
- 51:37Speaker 2: be a question for I have, especially with Kansas City
- 51:39Speaker 2: sitting there.
- 51:40Speaker 1: When you had Carnel Tate going what three four, so
- 51:43Speaker 1: that that really shakes it up.
- 51:45Speaker 2: So Mendoza, Bailey, Reese, Tate, Love, Baye Styles Downs, Delane Tyson.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Mendoza, Bailey, Mawigoa, Reese down Sunny Styles to the Cowboys,
- 51:58Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love, Carnel Tate, Ruben Bane At Jordan Tyson. So
- 52:01Speaker 1: then probably McKay Lemon to the Dolphins.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Last thing I wanted to just add on this, and
- 52:06Speaker 2: then we're gonna take a break and then we're gonna
- 52:07Speaker 2: open the show up to all you guys. My top
- 52:10Speaker 2: ten's a little bit I would say, outside the box.
- 52:14Speaker 2: And I got a little creative with this that was
- 52:17Speaker 2: on purpose. I think this is a bizarro Land draft.
- 52:21Speaker 2: I am, it's gonna get weird. I don't think I've
- 52:23Speaker 2: ever really covered a draft where there's so little consensus
- 52:25Speaker 2: about who the top guys are I agree that we're
- 52:28Speaker 2: kind of narrowed it down to the same nine or ten.
- 52:31Speaker 2: You know, we both kind of have nine out of
- 52:33Speaker 2: those ten. You have, maw we go in there. I
- 52:36Speaker 2: don't think I've covered a draft that has less consensus
- 52:39Speaker 2: than this one. I mean, boards are gonna be wildly different.
- 52:43Speaker 2: I keep hearing throw out positional value in a draft
- 52:46Speaker 2: like this. I actually wonder if positional value and need
- 52:50Speaker 2: matters a little bit more in a draft like this
- 52:52Speaker 2: because there's not a lot delineating the picks, right, Like,
- 52:56Speaker 2: if you had a guy that you felt like with
- 53:00Speaker 2: such a better prospect than somebody at you know, a
- 53:04Speaker 2: non premium position, let's call it, then maybe that would
- 53:07Speaker 2: be different. But I think all these guys, I think
- 53:09Speaker 2: it's kind of a flat line in a lot of
- 53:11Speaker 2: places of this draft, both in the top ten and
- 53:14Speaker 2: to some extent. And then also you know where the
- 53:16Speaker 2: Patriots are on where the Patriots are picking all the
- 53:18Speaker 2: way through. I would say probably the end of day
- 53:21Speaker 2: two is kind of like a twenty to ninety range
- 53:23Speaker 2: of this draft too, which is all a flat line. Right,
- 53:26Speaker 2: So if everybody's equal, if we just consider the board
- 53:29Speaker 2: and we just are stacking players and everybody's equal on
- 53:32Speaker 2: the board. Colex, wouldn't make the most sense that your
- 53:34Speaker 2: positions of need would be what pushes up guys. Yeah, right,
- 53:37Speaker 2: like that that's isn't that? The tiebreaker here is how
- 53:41Speaker 2: you feel about a specific player or a need you
- 53:44Speaker 2: need to fill. Something along those lines. I think those weird,
- 53:47Speaker 2: quirky tiebreakers of need, positional value, how guys you know,
- 53:55Speaker 2: presented in pre draft visits and all that kind of stuff,
- 53:58Speaker 2: that's gonna end up being deal breakers here for teams
- 54:01Speaker 2: or decision makers, and that's ultimately gonna lead to some kookiness.
- 54:06Speaker 2: So I win a little bit different because I think
- 54:08Speaker 2: there's we go to chalk with these things.
- 54:10Speaker 1: No, it's fair, It never goes chalk.
- 54:12Speaker 2: All right, We're gonna take a quick break and then,
- 54:14Speaker 2: like I said, we'll open up to the calls and emails.

- 57:16Speaker 1: Quick Furniture Draft Go three picks favorite furniture couch, couch,
- 57:22Speaker 1: that's very vague, Okay, I'm gonna go recliner, nice sectional?
- 57:25Speaker 1: Well no, no, it's a snake draft, a snake draft, so
- 57:28Speaker 1: you're going couch.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I g a sectional, nice comfy sectional.
- 57:32Speaker 1: I'm going recliner is a hammock technically furniture no, okay.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but like you're not buying that at Bob's.
- 57:41Speaker 1: Bob's has like deck I don't know, are you?
- 57:43Speaker 2: I don't know Bob's. I was I was gonna say
- 57:47Speaker 2: outdoor couch I love in the summertime and a nice outdoor.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I love an outdoor couch my second pick. Yeah, so
- 57:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna take outdoor couch or just outdoor lounge chair.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Yeah, just something to sit in.
- 57:59Speaker 1: All right, your last two picks one, No I took out,
- 58:03Speaker 1: you took couch. I took recliner, an outdoor lounge chair.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Now you go draft?
- 58:07Speaker 2: Oh god, Uh well, you spend like a third of
- 58:09Speaker 2: your life on your bed, so it's.
- 58:12Speaker 1: A practical pick. That's like, that's like drafting the left tackle.
- 58:15Speaker 1: It's not exciting drafting in fantasy, but you gotta.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and then all right, I gotta go again. Uh
- 58:25Speaker 2: like a nice lazy boy, nice like like I said, No,
- 58:28Speaker 2: I took recliner.
- 58:29Speaker 1: I took my first thing. Uh.
- 58:32Speaker 2: I don't know what else is there?
- 58:34Speaker 1: Come on, I already know what my next pick is.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna go some like it's.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Not just the stuff you sit on. I guess that's
- 58:43Speaker 1: mostly what we're doing. But there's other furniture, the good
- 58:45Speaker 1: TV stand.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Car I'm gonna go with, uh, a nice like a
- 58:51Speaker 2: nice set of barstools, barstools. Yeah, you know, I like,
- 58:54Speaker 2: you know, you got an island, you get the barstools,
- 58:57Speaker 2: but they need to be comfortable though, So that's like,
- 58:59Speaker 2: that's why this is a high pick, because you need
- 59:01Speaker 2: to get like really good barstools like you now you
- 59:04Speaker 2: don't want to sit on one's there.
- 59:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna go L shaped desk. I got an L
- 59:07Speaker 1: shaped desk a couple of years ago instead of the
- 59:09Speaker 1: straight one. It's oh, it's great because I can do
- 59:11Speaker 1: some stuff here and then it can turn and I
- 59:13Speaker 1: can do some stuff here and it's awesome. L shaped desk.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Well, I guess we can open it
- 59:19Speaker 2: up to the furniture draft now as well, if people
- 59:21Speaker 2: want to chime in. Mark is in Connecticut. What's up?
- 59:24Speaker 15: Mark?
- 59:26Speaker 4: Hey, guys, thank you for taking my call.
- 59:28Speaker 6: I appreciate it.
- 59:29Speaker 16: We we pumped for the draft or what?
- 59:31Speaker 1: Oh?
- 59:31Speaker 2: Yeah, of course always.
- 59:34Speaker 5: So my whole nervousness here is that I'm gonna wait
- 59:40Speaker 5: up till eleven thirty twelve o'clock and they're not gonna
- 59:43Speaker 5: make the pick.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Well, hang on, you're not gonna have to. They shortened
- 59:46Speaker 1: the timer this year in the first round from ten
- 59:48Speaker 1: minutes to eight, so it's gonna be closer to ten
- 59:50Speaker 1: thirty ten thirty eleven beautiful.
- 59:53Speaker 5: Yeah, so so, but I like the idea if they
- 59:57Speaker 5: do that, because now they're gonna have two seconds, you're
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: probably going to pick up I'm thinking a third or
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: two fours is what I've seen in a lot of
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: uh mock drafts, which is great because this is the
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: cream of the crop, you know, two two threes and
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: then two fours. I mean that that is just going
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: to be exciting to be able to have all those
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: picks to make. So I wanted to see what you guys,
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: you know, I know you guys have been talking about
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: that a lot, but uh, you know, I think that's
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: what it's probably gonna end up being.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Mark, thanks for the call. I think that if
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I had to power rank my outcomes, yeah, tight end
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: and or a tighten edge and tackle in some order.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: At the top, I think trade down is very high
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: up there. Yeah, especially I don't want them to trade
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: down like fifty, No five to ten picks.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: And even tens a bit much for me. But like, yeah,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I look at thirty six with the Raiders is like
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: the floor of it. Even if you're going to thirty three,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I still don't know, or thirty four with the Cardinals,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I still don't know how I feel about handing the
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: jets of quarterback even if you don't love Ty Simpson. Yeah,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: but yeah, do you move back a couple of picks
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: like in the one I had the one I put out,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: so I had them going from thirty one to thirty
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: four with Cardinals and getting back one oh four and
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: then a future fourth.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Yeah. See, to me, that's the only difference between what
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Mark was saying and what I would do. I would
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: try to push really hard to get a pick in
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I just I don't think you're getting a top one
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: hundred unless you're moving back, like significantly because of the
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: discrepancy between this draft and next.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: So the reason why I say that, though, is because
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: I want to replenish the well, because I'm trading something
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: for AJ Brown, Right, so I'm probably going to give
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: up Let's let's say it right, like if you get
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: a fourth, right, but let's say we win our game
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: with Chicken. Yeah, and you're giving up a second round
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: pick for AJ Brown in twenty twenty seven. If you
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: trade down in this draft from thirty one to thirty six,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: let's call it a thirty one to thirty four, and
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: you even get a fourth round pick in twenty twenty four.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: At least you're adding your pick back right. It is
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: at the same level of pick, but at least you
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: got to pick back right. So I feel a bit better.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: I would rather do that than add more picks in
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: this draft. Yeah, I think they got enough picks in
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: a bad draft. Let's try to get some more picks,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: or at least keep our picks equal in the good
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: one that's coming next year. That's how I feel about that.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: All right, Zach is in New Hampshire. What's up, Zach?
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: Big guys, Thanks kicking ball. I was just wondering, if
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: they do end up getting a J. Brown, how would
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: that affect, you know, Kyle Williams and Pop Douglas and
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: guys like that. Obviously Pop will probably stay in the slot,
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: but like you think they'd use Williams at the Z
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: in the slot.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think it's an interesting question.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: You know, a J.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Brown's gonna play the X like, I think that there
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: might be a little bit more maneuverability with him than
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: what he did in Philadelphia. Philadelphia, one of the issues
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: I think a lot of people had with the way
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: that their offense ran. If you're trying to make the
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: argument for aj Brown. This should be on your checklist
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: of things to argue in his favor. They barely moved
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: him around, They barely moved him inside. They didn't do
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: a whole lot of like big slot hunting with him
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: where he has matchups on slot corners or linebackers or
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: safeties in the middle of the field. My guess is
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: that Josh McDaniels will do a lot more with that
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: with daj Brown. So that could mean that Romeo Dobbs
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: plays a little bit more X like he did in
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Green Bay. Right, so all good, All fine. I think
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: you know, Pop Douglas, Bob Douglas had a tough time
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: getting on the field last year. So if you add
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: two receivers and maybe they maybe they send out Keishawn
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Booty too at some point. But yeah, for right now,
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: let's just say they're adding too and only subtracting one
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: in Stefon Diggs. I think Pop Douglas has sort of
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: that specialized, you know, speed slot gadget type of role.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I don't think that's changing. Kyle Williams, I think I
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: don't know if he has a role, you know, I
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: think that that role is still yet to be determined.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I think it's you pick your spots in games, you
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: put him on the field ten to fifteen snaps, and
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: you hope he gets open.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Deep Yeah, like he did against Baltimore. Yeah, exactly. So
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I'm not I don't have a great answer of what
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: the future holds for Kyle Williams right now. I hope
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: that Kyle Williams, with more opportunity, takes advantage of it
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: and you know, breaks out. But I've said it before,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: the history of receivers having rookie seasons like Kyle Williams
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: did and going on to be big time players is
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: not very good. Let's just call it at what it is.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: It's just usually that there's at least some production in
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: your rookie season. I still have hope that he's like,
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: you know, could he be like Philip Dorsett, you know,
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: can he be a down the field vertical threat that
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: has like one really good trick baby, But I'm not
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: really holding I hope that it's going to be more
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: than that. Christians in LA, what's up Christian.
- 1:04:41Speaker 16: You guys?
- 1:04:43Speaker 17: It seems like the way the draft is to post
- 1:04:46Speaker 17: the work is the two teams that did the best,
- 1:04:49Speaker 17: that he runs up. I mean the two two, both
- 1:04:52Speaker 17: teams they get the last two takes them those teams
- 1:04:56Speaker 17: that you know were the works the first two that's
- 1:04:58Speaker 17: designed to create parody in the leaved right. Yeah, so
- 1:05:05Speaker 17: it seems like they're saying that the thirty first pick,
- 1:05:08Speaker 17: you know, in each round subsequently should be enough to
- 1:05:11Speaker 17: get us back to the super Bowl or in the
- 1:05:14Speaker 17: same place that we were last year. Right, that's the
- 1:05:16Speaker 17: way the draft is theoretically proposed.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I don't really understand the question, yeah, Matne, And like
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: the team.
- 1:05:24Speaker 17: Is supposed to like move up right from where they
- 1:05:26Speaker 17: were last year with the pick that they get from
- 1:05:29Speaker 17: this year. So they're technically saying that with the thirty
- 1:05:32Speaker 17: first pick in the first round and then subsequently every
- 1:05:36Speaker 17: other round, we should be able to use those picks
- 1:05:39Speaker 17: to get back to and then win the Super Bowls.
- 1:05:42Speaker 17: That's the theory of it here.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: You're saying, because they're picking thirty first this year to
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: put them in a position to pick thirty second next year.
- 1:05:49Speaker 17: No thinking, if they picked thirty first this year, that's
- 1:05:53Speaker 17: supposed to be the piece that gets them, you know,
- 1:05:56Speaker 17: over the hump from where they were last year, and
- 1:05:58Speaker 17: last year they ended up at running up for the
- 1:06:00Speaker 17: Super Bowl. Wouldn't this year their their first pick theoretically
- 1:06:04Speaker 17: supposed to be the piece that gets them over the
- 1:06:07Speaker 17: hump from where they were last year.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: For each team, I mean, I don't think it.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Because they were so close to winning the super Bowl
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: last year, they have pick away from winning the super
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Bowl this year.
- 1:06:18Speaker 17: I'm not fin the league the schedules. Does the pick
- 1:06:22Speaker 17: for the draft like the team is puposed to move
- 1:06:25Speaker 17: up one level from where they were last year.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: No, it's supposed to bring everybody back to the middle.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: The worst teams get the best players. The best teams
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: pick lower, so it drags everybody back to the middle.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: That's what it's designed to do. But that's just the
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: I mean, there's free agency and other things and like,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that's what's going to happen. But no,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: the draft is design and create parody. The worst teams
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: get the really good players they need. The best teams
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: have a less limited selection. But you can pick thirty
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: one and still get better. Absolutely, teams do it all
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: the time. The Patriots did it for years. The Chiefs
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: have been doing it the last few years, picking you
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: know from twenty nine on. But no, it's it's the
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: draft design to bring everybody to the middle.
- 1:07:01Speaker 17: Yeah, okay, so theoretically the teams are in the middle
- 1:07:05Speaker 17: should then flip flopped and beat towards the top the
- 1:07:09Speaker 17: next like the next year.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: I think it's the most Yeah, I would say the
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: worst place you are is the middle.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: In theory, what the NFL wants is for the bad
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: teams to become good and the good teams to become bad,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: and then that's just theory behind it, or.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: At least them to come back to the pack so
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: that everybody is equal. The NFL wants everybody to be
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: the fifteenth best team, right, And I think that Thanks
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: for the call, Christian, because that made no sense. I
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: thank you for piercing that through Through that that I'm
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: with you, though. The draft is designed to make the
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: good the bad teams good in the bat and the.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Good teams higher system. The draft, the way the salary
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: cap works, the way for agency works, cap picks like,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: it's all designed for parents. And we've talked about this.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: There's an undercurrent that's supposed to not allow a team
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: to stay in a state for any more than like
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: if you fight off the current for five or six years,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: you're doing great. Yeah, doing it for twenty years is absurd,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: and nobody will ever do that again. Yeah, although I
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: guess some teams have fought off the undercurrent that's supposed
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: to pull them up and have stayed bad for twenty years.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: But it's it's yeah, that's just how it works.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I that's definitely how it works. I think
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: that the the biggest difference that I feel like with
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: the NFL Draft compared to other drafts. Besides maybe if
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: you have like a lottery pick in the NBA, is
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: there's enough talent in the NFL draft from one to
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: thirty two that that player can make an immediate impact
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: on your team as a Really, so whoever they draft
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: that when you draft at you know their thirty NBA teams,
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: So when you draft that twenty nine in the NBA draft,
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: you're not realistically thinking that that player is going to
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: contribute to your roster immediately. No, like a lot of
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: those guys actually go to the G league first and
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: like kick back and forth between the NBA, and.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: This is just setting up you taking a victory lap
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: on you go Gonzalezes.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: No, but like Eugo Gonzala right now is not in
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: the Celtics playoff rotation.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: He was their first round pick. You know, it's a
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: not apples to apples, so I'm not going to use
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Will Campbell. But like the Patriots, you know, picking in
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: the twenties, that guy would be playing.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: And the King Gonzalez went seventeenth and instantly became one
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: of the best corners in football. The seventeenth pick in
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: the NBA draft hardly ever does that doesn't.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it happens every once in a blue moon. I
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: Kwi Leonard was like a middle of the first round guy,
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: but it doesn't happen often.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: And even Kwi like it took a few years, right,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: he wasn't He didn't burst on a scene. Seventeenth overall
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: pick last year was Juan Behinger.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I don't know if he played a second in the
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: NBA this year.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: All right, Patty is an aguan.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: What's up, Patty, Good afternoon. Guys. Wanted to touch on
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: a couple of things. Evan, great call on the barstools.
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: That's a very very underrated piece of furniture. And I
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: actually need to get a couple nice barstools from my
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: web bar down in my basement, so I wanted to
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: throw two things. The first thing, I know said, you
- 1:10:06Speaker 7: weren't really going to do the have the callers predict
- 1:10:08Speaker 7: the pick kind of like we did last year, But
- 1:10:10Speaker 7: I'm going to And I think last year I went
- 1:10:13Speaker 7: with my head instead of my heart, and you know
- 1:10:16Speaker 7: my heart, said Trayveon Anderson in the second round, and
- 1:10:19Speaker 7: I think I ended up taking Jalen a while, so
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: try not to drag the showdown too much going with
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: my heart instead of my head. This year, I think
- 1:10:28Speaker 7: Anachorz there at thirty one, and I think they take them,
- 1:10:32Speaker 7: and I'll only do day one and to day day two.
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: I think they're trading up. And as much as I
- 1:10:38Speaker 7: love gave Akis and I would love to see him
- 1:10:40Speaker 7: on this team, I think our Mason Thomas is going
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: to be the pick somewhere between fifty and fifty five,
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: I think they're going to trade up somewhere in there.
- 1:10:49Speaker 7: I just think he's as far as like like hand
- 1:10:53Speaker 7: and glove fit for this bravel defense.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: I think he's a.
- 1:10:56Speaker 7: Little bit better, a little bit quicker than than Acus.
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: But I don't like, I don't get where this whole frickin'
- 1:11:03Speaker 7: argument of achis not being a great athlete. Just look
- 1:11:06Speaker 7: at the numbers he put up in his pro day,
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: and I'll end with Oscar delp I think they I
- 1:11:12Speaker 7: think they like him, and I think he'll probably be
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: there at the end of the third round for them
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: to take. Now, Evan, I got to ask you a question,
- 1:11:19Speaker 7: are you done doing like looking at prospects for the draft?
- 1:11:24Speaker 7: Because if not, I just wanted to throw one Atchet
- 1:11:26Speaker 7: real quick.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: I'm pretty Yeah, the hay is in the bar there, Patty,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: but you can throw you can throw them at me.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: It's okay, all right.
- 1:11:33Speaker 7: So this guy projects to be either a seventh or UDFA.
- 1:11:37Speaker 7: I would like to grab him as in the seventh round.
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: His name is Kaden Barnett. He's a guard out of Wyoming.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm familiar with him.
- 1:11:46Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: He played played primarily right tackle, and then they switched
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: him in the guard this past year. He struggled in
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: twenty twenty four, but this past year when they moved
- 1:11:55Speaker 7: him in the guard, he actually played like really good.
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: And plus he's like he's really big, mean and nasty,
- 1:12:01Speaker 7: and I think he'd be a great fit and I'll
- 1:12:03Speaker 7: just end on this, Alex. You'll you'll be happy to know.
- 1:12:06Speaker 7: Like when I did a you know, a bunch of
- 1:12:08Speaker 7: mock drafts, I kind of got sick of them. But
- 1:12:11Speaker 7: after a while, like I was picking who are a
- 1:12:13Speaker 7: Bernard yep, like in the sticks round, because I would
- 1:12:18Speaker 7: love to see that, Like, I'd love to see him
- 1:12:20Speaker 7: on this team, because who the hell knows what that
- 1:12:22Speaker 7: guy will turn into. I can't wait for tomorrow. I'm
- 1:12:26Speaker 7: gonna be tanked and I'll be calling in tomorrow night.
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: Let's go, baby, all right, let's go.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: So Barnette, the guard from Wyoming, I got on my
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: radar because Dane had him as a top twenty player
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: in the class at the position. Yeah, he had him
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: as like as I think I have it right here.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: I think it's a guard like sixteen, and you know,
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: seeing the fact that they are going to probably draft
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: one of these guys, I went pretty deep at guard.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: I liked what I saw. You know, I have a
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: tough time though. I'm going to just admit it's a
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: blind spot for me when guys played tackle in college
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: and then you have to project how that's going to
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: translate to guard. I have a tough time with that
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: because it's such a different position, Like the space that
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: you're blocking in is so different. You know, guard, it's
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: a it's a car crash, right, It's gonna happen instantly.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: You know, it's a it's a big you know, there's
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: not as much space in between the players, right, so
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: just naturally the collision is gonna happen a lot quicker
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: when you're out of tackle, like you're dancing out there, right, like,
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: you know, there's a space in between the guys.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: It's it's hard for me to do that.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: But I liked what I saw from him in terms
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: of the physical attributes, and he is probably gonna play
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: guard at the next level, probably like a you know,
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: fifth or sixth round pick. You know, I think he's
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Patty was a little low on him. I think he's
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: gonna be go a little maybe around higher than what
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: he said. But I think he's going to be someone
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: at the end of day three that's going to be,
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: you know, a possibility if they don't go guard super
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: early and they just hammer it on day three, they
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: draft a couple. You know, he was probably on my
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: list in like a they take one in the fourth
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: one in the sixth kind of situation.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Possibly, Yeah, you're not taking any more prospects. I try
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: to get you on one yesterday, but.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Uh, well you tried to fool me.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: And I know because it's it's it's obscene, it's absurd,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: it's insane. You don't know who this person is. Who
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: do you even remember the name?
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: No?
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Noah Khan?
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: Who is that? Why do I need to know who
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: that is? Is this a like? What is it? Like?
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Like? He's a singer, Okay, it's from Vermont, his whole
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: he's like the whole New England music scene right now.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: And he's putting out a new album soon and he
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: just dropped the Tiny Desk and good music.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: He dropped a tiny desk.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Do you not know what tiny desk is?
- 1:14:33Speaker 10: Oh my, it's an NPR music showcase called it.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Is it l shaped or is it?
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Hang on? Have you never You've never seen like the
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: t pain tiny desk? No, it's the best one. I
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: think is the best.
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: I don't have time for him.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: They they bring these artists to NPR and they have
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: it's like an acoustic They basically do like an acoustic
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: set of like three or four songs and t Pain
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: went and he sung. He didn't use autotune, actually sung
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: and it was incredible, and everybody's like wow. I'm like, Okay, No.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: I think I've heard put Tiny Desk on the map.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: I think I've heard it was that the first big one,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Like I don't remember.
- 1:15:08Speaker 10: The first big one, but it made everybody a.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Lot of famous artists.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Is it? Is it?
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: What it's like a library setup? Okay, it's like a library.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: We've we've submitted to one. So what you gotta do
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: is you gotta.
- 1:15:22Speaker 10: Do a live So is this like your song with
- 1:15:25Speaker 10: a desk in the frame somewhere?
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they set you up in like this library.
- 1:15:29Speaker 10: Situation where it's you know, it's like book shelves, desks whatever.
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: Is it like Hot Ones but for music?
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: Not even close. No, it's like a very chill, relaxed vibe. No,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I can't believe you don't. Okay, So you got to
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: watch who was.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: On hot Who was on Hot Ones recently? I forget
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: who it was, but.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: I I was.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: I only watch it when it's interesting.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Like here's uh, Taylor Swift doing Tiny Desk?
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Why why is it called tiny desk? Because they're behind
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: a ty okay, gotcha.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: All right, So you gotta listen to what con you
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: gotta check out tiny, I'm gonna look who is the
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: drafts almost over. I'm gonna send you some links for Sunday.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I can't believe you don't know who Nocan is?
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Do you know? You know?
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Like my I know you only you don't really listen
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: to music, but.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: My bubble, like my world is very very specific. Yeah, Okay,
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: there's football, there's more football, and then there's like so
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: if that's like, if that's like, let's call that eighty
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: percent of my existence is football, then like there's probably
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: about ten percent for the Boston Celtics. Obviously, there's you know,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: five percent for my lovely wife.
- 1:16:45Speaker 10: You're running out of percentages fast.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: And then like five percent for the Bruins and the
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: Red Sox and other nonsense. So like this no con
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: thing is like, there's no there's no chance, and I'm
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: gonna storage I'm gonna switch to ten percent. I'll give
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: that to Jess because she'll get mad at me. So
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: eighty percent football, ten percent wife, somebody.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: When the drafts done, I'm gonna say, because it's it's
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: perfect you why comes out Friday. So once the draft's done.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: You know, I'm not gonna lisen.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: You should listen to it. I bet Chest listens to No.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: No, I'm not. We're not a music household, and it's
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: so weird. Yeah, we don't listen to music very much.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: All right, let's get back to the thuds Elders in
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: North Carolina? What's up Eldrid?
- 1:17:30Speaker 15: Hey fellas Chief Paint really is a singer instead of
- 1:17:33Speaker 15: a rapper, but he reals a rap because that guy
- 1:17:35Speaker 15: really can't sing.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: He can, It's unbelievable he really can.
- 1:17:39Speaker 15: Yes, yes he can't. He could sing. But my other
- 1:17:41Speaker 15: question is I know I about like Casey kept kept
- 1:17:45Speaker 15: on ksey C.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, can you kill me?
- 1:17:48Speaker 15: Why when you already got those guys in the building?
- 1:17:51Speaker 15: You know, even if we were to get a J. Brown,
- 1:17:54Speaker 15: which I'm not holding my breath with Roseman, you know,
- 1:17:58Speaker 15: I just can you kill me? Why?
- 1:18:00Speaker 16: Why?
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Why you would add KCC? What's the question?
- 1:18:04Speaker 15: Got those guys in the room? Yeah? Another question is, uh,
- 1:18:08Speaker 15: you already got Dobbs, you already got Pop, you already
- 1:18:12Speaker 15: got uh, you got Williams, you got you got uh guy? Yeah,
- 1:18:18Speaker 15: MC howand I want mac Howald left team. I want.
- 1:18:21Speaker 15: I want somebody young and coming up, you know, behind,
- 1:18:24Speaker 15: because you have a thirty three year old wide receiver.
- 1:18:27Speaker 15: If you get Brown, you're gonna be thirty. So you're
- 1:18:29Speaker 15: back in the boat again two years with me, So
- 1:18:32Speaker 15: why not on thirty one or move up in the
- 1:18:34Speaker 15: suckond And I'm tired of Boston because Boston just like uh,
- 1:18:39Speaker 15: Hollins and boothte get my boy Brasel and then you
- 1:18:43Speaker 15: got him for the next four years. You ain't got
- 1:18:45Speaker 15: to pay this guy's contract till four years down the road.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: So by that time Brown was out the.
- 1:18:50Speaker 15: Way, you'd have made maids and you'd have made guns
- 1:18:53Speaker 15: will hopefully by then, you know. So that's my reasoning.
- 1:18:57Speaker 15: Can you kill me if I'm wrong?
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Aldre for the call. Here here's my take on that.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: It's the boat or the mystery box right now, the
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: mystery box. The boat is a nice boat. The mystery
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: box could be a yacht or it could be a
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: row boat, and the.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Mystery box could be concert comedy ticket.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: You're right. So there's the issue with that line of
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: thinking is that you're you're counting on hitting the pick
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: right and you're making it so that it's a zero
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: sum game, like there's no other outcome that could possibly happen.
- 1:19:27Speaker 10: A J.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Brown is a known commodity. You know what he's getting.
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: Yes, I agree with Eldred. In an ideal world, you
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: would draft the receiver. You would have a young stud
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: receiver with your young stud quarterback, both on a rookie contract.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: That is the dream scenario in the National Football League.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: What the Bengals had a couple of years ago with
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase both on rookie contracts is
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: the jackpot if for an NFL this You know, general manager,
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: how much confidence do you have in the Patriots hitting
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: on the pick at wide receiver? And especially how much
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: confidence do you have to the Patriots pitting on the
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: pick a wide receiver when the highest that they could
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: pick that wide receiver thirty one, Like if they were
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: picking in the top ten, then maybe you feel a
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: little bit better about it because it's like, Okay, maybe
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: you could get a can't miss guy, you know, in
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: that range of the draft. I love Chris Brasel, He's
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: my guy, But there is a other outcome here for
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Chris Basil with AJ Brown, there's really no other outcome,
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: like you kind of know what you're gonna get with
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: aj Brown, So I think that's where it comes from.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: But I'm with Eldred. In the ideal world, you would
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: draft a receiver, you'd have him on the rookie contract
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: for four years, and he would be a stud like
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: that would be ideal. But that's not the world that
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: we live in. And I gotta admit, even though it's
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: maybe a little bit unfair to hold it against Mike Rabel, especially,
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: I just until they hit on a wide receiver in
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: the draft box, I just can't get all jazzed up
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: about it.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I also, just to his first point, I think conception
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: you own, you know, Pops in a contract here. Yeah,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: I think Kyle Williams slightly different player. I think concepcion
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: gives you something you don't have, especially if they're not
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: going to resign Pop Douglas.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I would. I would probably agree with that. Concepcion
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: is to me, you know, I compared him to uh,
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: you know, a taller z Flowers, Like he's a similar
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: type of joystick type of player, great separator, good with
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: the ball in his hands, explosive playmaker, has you know,
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: some not the biggest guy. Has some play strength and
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: drop concerns as well, but for my money, the best
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: pure separator of any receiver in the draft. Yeah, if
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: he had Tyson or Tate's size and hands, he would
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: be a top time PA talk about in that category.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: But he you know, he's not small. He's not Zay Flowers,
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: he's not Pop Douglas.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: He's not big.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: He's five to eleven, you know, you know, to what
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: one ninety I would say probably, uh, you know that
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: that's still pretty decent size for that kind of player.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: But he's not a big receiver by any means. Brad
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: is in Ohio? What's up? Brad? Oh? Wait? Sorry Brad? Okay,
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: go ahead, Brad right hate what's up?
- 1:22:08Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:22:09Speaker 16: Hey, I was gone, Guys, I got confused there for
- 1:22:12Speaker 16: a secondhen Uh. I just got a couple of questions
- 1:22:15Speaker 16: real quick. And it's it's something that I spoke to
- 1:22:21Speaker 16: you guys earlier about and and you have picked up
- 1:22:24Speaker 16: on it. One of them is if we could move
- 1:22:26Speaker 16: back in the draft and get a you know, get
- 1:22:30Speaker 16: a good edge rusher and get and I I really
- 1:22:34Speaker 16: would like to see us draft Kleb Rutlets.
- 1:22:37Speaker 17: I don't I just think he.
- 1:22:39Speaker 16: I know he's a backup. You know, we would think,
- 1:22:42Speaker 16: but with Tucker's injury, I think we could put him
- 1:22:45Speaker 16: at left guard and it's a massive upgrade from what
- 1:22:48Speaker 16: Wilson would have been last year. And run blocking anyway,
- 1:22:52Speaker 16: and I agree that we need to find something we
- 1:22:56Speaker 16: can lay lean on, which is running. If we can
- 1:22:59Speaker 16: run the ball against whoever we need to, it takes
- 1:23:03Speaker 16: a lot of pressure off Drake. And then that would
- 1:23:06Speaker 16: leave me to Max Retson, an undrafted free agent special
- 1:23:10Speaker 16: team fullback that I hope Evan's looked into. And then uh,
- 1:23:15Speaker 16: and then I was wanting to see about Marlon Klein
- 1:23:20Speaker 16: in the third round. I don't know what where you
- 1:23:22Speaker 16: guys are projecting him to be more in the third round.
- 1:23:26Speaker 16: And bar Ham I think, and Jimmy Roder, these are
- 1:23:30Speaker 16: all late round picks that I think would fit really.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Well with quick question, are you a Michigan fan by
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: any chance?
- 1:23:38Speaker 15: Yeah?
- 1:23:38Speaker 16: Well yeah, And I only give you guys Michigan players
- 1:23:41Speaker 16: that I think will actually fit with that.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Know, you got some good players there. I just say
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: I just noticed that.
- 1:23:49Speaker 16: Yeah, I can focus on those ones, you know, let
- 1:23:51Speaker 16: you guys know specifically they're trade and That's why I
- 1:23:55Speaker 16: want Evan to focus on Max. Did you guys look
- 1:23:58Speaker 16: at the fullback?
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Well, I know who he.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Is, Brad, But they just signed Reggie Gilliam to a
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: pretty good contract, so I think you know they're they're
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: pretty set there. What did you say?
- 1:24:12Speaker 16: You don't think Max is the same as Reggie. They're like,
- 1:24:16Speaker 16: you know, like players.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: I just don't.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: I mean, they're both going to play full back, and
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: they're not going to.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Carry to keep too, and it's not you're not going
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: to create a competition after you signed Gilliam to the contract,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: and they also sell a brock Lampy too, who I
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: think is called Jack Westover. I like Max Brett is
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: a good player. I think they're stock to fall back
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:24:37Speaker 7: Okay, all right, thanks you guys, thanks for call Brad.
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: I look, I I you know he started out with Rutledge.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: I've been really anti I'm anti guard. You know that.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: I hate The positional value to me, just doesn't make
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: sense early on in the draft. If they took Rutlige
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: on day two, Let's say they take them at sixty three,
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: I hope they he'll be there at ninety five. I'm
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: not gonna like it's not going to be a Cold
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: Strange level meltdown, right, like sixty three. At least you're
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: drafting him where he's supposed to be drafted, and you
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: probably got somebody in the first round. I feel pretty
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: good about it. Fine, but and he can play, and
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: he can play like.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: He's a good Yes, I think he's a better prospect
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: than Cold Strange was.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. But at the same time, I'm
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: still I'm still against it as a as a what's
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: the word I'm looking for?
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Like just core philosophy, core philosophy. Thank you? Who is
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: your Day three guard? And the Patriots coming?
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: I really like Jeremiah Last right, Uh, can I have
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: him in the fifth round?
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: You should take him a one third. If you have
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: to take him at one thirty one, you're taking him
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: at one thirty one.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: Fine, I really I really like Logan Taylor from Boston.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: College, and you're different players. I like you different.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: I think Logan Taylor is a guard with tackle flexibility,
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: not a tackle with guard. Right.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: I think he's been working a little bit at center too.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: So I think he can play guard. And then I think,
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: you know, at a starter level. Yeah, if somebody gets hurt,
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: he can do the Joe Tunny thing and kick out
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: to tackle if he has to. So it's good flexibility,
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: especially as a Day three pick. I really like Logan
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Taylor for them. I really like Jeremiah Right for them.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: I really like Jalen Farmer from Kentucky for them too.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: I think that, you know, he's kind of in this
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: similar mold as Jeremiah Right, maybe not as as powerful,
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: as not as big.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: He might be a top one hundred pick.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a good player. So you know, those are
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: the guys I'm looking at in like the fourth or
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: fifth round range. I wouldn't take any of them in
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: the top one hundred, but fourth or fifth round.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: If they were gonna take a guard in the top
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: one hundred, Yeah, who's your guy? Factoring in where you
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: have to take them? So I can't take Vegas, No,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: I mean you can, so that's probably your top pick. Yeah,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: well you said if I had to take any of
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the guards, like, where you're realistically gonna have to take them, like,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: considering where you're selected is probably you're trading back from
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: thirty one.
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: I hear what you're saying.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Uh, so Besontas are pregnant with the trade back rutledgit
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: thirty or Jayalen Farmer or at sixty three or Jalen
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Farmer at ninety five.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Relika RETLIGI I think I'm with you. I think there's
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: too much of a gap between Rutledge and the and
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: the rest of the crew. Yeah, I really like like
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: Besis a lot, though.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be pro absolutely, Yeah, good player.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: All right, there's a We've gotten a lot of questions
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: about this, alex So before we get to our our
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: final final picks here by the end of the show.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Uh Barton poland many others have emailed in about Jamal McCoy,
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: the Tennessee Corner out. Uh So, he's there's chatter, scuttle
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: butt that he might fall all the way out of
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: the first round because of a degenerative knee issue. He's
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: got like something on his need.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna pull up the exact word. Well, so it
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: runs a little deeper than that.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: So it's not the it's it's not exactly the acl though.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: So we had an a cl that he didn't play
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: last year, he should play any of twenty twenty five.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: I'm doing a very bad job of I'll give you
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: the night.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: So he transfers from Morgan State to Tennessee in twenty
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: twenty four. Yet a really good twenty twenty four season,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: thirteen around caliber, thirteam All American, looks like a top
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: fifteen pick. In January of twenty five, he tears his
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: ACL of practice. He was expected to be back during
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: the season, didn't make it back because he had setbacks
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: that continued to the point where he was he wasn't
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: able to work out or he was limited. I forget
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: if he did anything at the combine, but he was
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: still limited by that ACL at the combine. So you're
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: now talking about fifteen months, sixteen months off the torn acel.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: He was still limited. He was able to do a
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: workout at Tennessee. But then we get the report earlier
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: this week quote doctors are concerned that he will need
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: another surgery to replace a bone plug used to repair
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: a cartilage defect in his knee. The concerns are not
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: related to a surgically repaired ACL. There are so many
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: scary words in there. Yeah, there are say I don't
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: mean to pick on the kid. There are so many scared,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: very medical words in there. I don't love it. I
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: know I go to this comp a lot, and I'm
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: just trying to be consistent I did with Josh Simmons
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: last year. It's scream he screams Dominique Easley. And where
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the Patriots being where they're at a corner under the
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: assumption that Christian's al is going to be here for
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: the long term. They're in a good position at corner.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna read it again. Doctors are concerned he will
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: need another surgery to replace a bone plug used to
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: repair a cartilage defect in his knee. This is on
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: top of a torn acl that took longer than usual
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: to recover from. Really, and it's not like he had
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: three great years and it's like, okay, what we've seen.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: He had one good season. It was a really good season,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: but it was one season. This is a massive, massive,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: massive projection at a position you don't really need. I'm out.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: I think I said, yes, Sam, Patriots ped if he
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: falls to ninety five, sure, right, that's where I would
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: take him. I take him at ninety five.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: So Rabel's done this in his history. He has picked
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: players with various whether it's injury and off field or
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: injury concerns. It's blown up in his face and it's hit.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: And I remember last year when he took the job
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: with the Patriots and the draft is rolling around. Somebody
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: asked him a question about what he learned about the
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: draft in Tennessee, and he said that he, frankly, would
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: take less injury risks than they did in Tennessee. So
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: Caleb Fairley is like the number one guy that everybody
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: goes to that was had his back, bad back and
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: does it never materialized right here you want it? Yeah,
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: we took a couple of guys with this talking about
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: his time in Tennessee. We took a couple of guys
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: with injuries that we thought were talented in maybe what
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: injuries as they fell and the value got to the
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: point where we were comfortable taking them.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I think that's something that's critical. What's the ability for
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: players to recover from one injury versus another injury, I
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: think is something that I learned. The impact that player
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: makes and demands on a first round pick, I think
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: is something that's just like the quarterback. I think this
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: might be a loose transcription here. Apologize it doesn't have
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: to be the face of the franchise. But everybody's gonna
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: be talking about the first round pick from the time
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: that we picked them for as long as to hear,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: so that kind of gets carried with him. I think
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: you have to have that add tone demeanor. So, yeah,
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: talks about managing injuries and again this is a this
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: is not a light one.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: So Caleb Fairley was the big one that was their
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: first round pick in twenty twenty one. He had the
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: back really played twenty one games in the NFL twenty one.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: I didn't even as it was that many.
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Isaiah Wilson had a bunch of things. He had
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: an injury, he had off field issues. They picked him
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: at tackle, a tackle out of Georgia. They picked him
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: at twenty nine in twenty twenty. He played one game
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: in the NFL one game. Jeffrey Simmons was the one
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: that worked. They picked Jeffrey Simmons. He was coming off
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: an injury. Obviously, Jeffrey Simmons is maybe one of the
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: greatest Titans of all time, right, so that one hit big,
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: but with fairly with Wilson, I just think that they're
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: going to be out on a guy like McCoy. My
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: big takeaway you know. My take on the McCoy thing
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: just separate from what I think they're gonna do. If
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: a guy that talented is falling to thirty one in
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: the draft, there's a reason you should stay away like that.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Nobody knows something. I don't stick with somebody.
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: There's no way that that is a good that he
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: that player of that caliber follows thirty picks in the
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: draft without it being seen and now looks some people
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: say this happened Will Johnson last year, and Will Johnson
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: was fine. But Will Johnson also had like there were
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: a lot of concerns about his speed, his top end speed,
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: in like, there are concerns about him as a player,
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: like his profile as a player.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: Well, no, I think he was supposed to be a
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: top ten pick.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: Well, I just felt like there was It was more
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: than just I think that the injury, coupled with the
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: fact that some people were in one hundred percent sold
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: on him as a prospect, led to a sort of,
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: you know, a domino effect form.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Just Albert Breer wrote, the case is quote similar to
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: maybe a little worse than Will Johnson's last year.
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: Okay, I I don't see them doing it.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: It's also there's like, yeah, he had a good year.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: There's like a long term durability thing. And that's why
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: I think Will Johnson went kind of early in the
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: second round. And it goes to Frabel's quote. There is
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: a difference that comes with even if it's just a
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: matter of a few picks, there's a difference that comes
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: with being the first pick, the first round pick, or
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: the first pick for a team, and then the next guy.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: You can take more that risk in the second round
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: and maybe he gives you one or two good seasons
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: and that's it. People might chalk that up to okay
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: in the second round, like you look at Malcolm Mitchell.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: People look at Malcolm Mitchell's SSS, right. I think I
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: don't know from what I see. I think a lot
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: of people for the fourth round pick for where the
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Patriots were, they got a super Bowl out of that pick,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: and if they taken Malcolm Mitchell in the first round
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: woulout have been the same story. No, probably not.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: The idea. Yeah, I'm out on it as well. All right,
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: next call here Eric is in Louisiana.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: What's up? Eric?
- 1:34:22Speaker 16: Hey Evan and h.
- 1:34:25Speaker 9: Oh my gods, I'm as I'm sorry barnya got is
- 1:34:30Speaker 9: doing today?
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: Good?
- 1:34:33Speaker 9: All right?
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: It's Alex.
- 1:34:39Speaker 9: So I guess I had this question a while back,
- 1:34:43Speaker 9: and I guess I didn't say it well. But for
- 1:34:48Speaker 9: this first round pick, whether it be wide receiver, edge
- 1:34:52Speaker 9: rusher most probably not likely. Uh, it could be a there,
- 1:35:00Speaker 9: but just say wide receiver edge is there, and Mike
- 1:35:04Speaker 9: Rabel really likes a set player, and they, you know,
- 1:35:08Speaker 9: run up to pick that guy. What do we expect
- 1:35:12Speaker 9: like out of the edge wresher or the wide receiver
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: to say, oh, we have something here, like he might
- 1:35:21Speaker 9: be possibly a star. Like are we looking at if
- 1:35:26Speaker 9: it's a wide receiver, are we looking at like key
- 1:35:28Speaker 9: matchups like versus corners, if it's edges like exact same thing,
- 1:35:33Speaker 9: Or are we looking at stats when it comes to
- 1:35:36Speaker 9: edge like sacks or pressures, Like what are some key
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: takeaways we should look at all these rookies coming into
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: this year. And I'll take it off.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: Okay, thanks Eric, Yeah, I think I kind of get
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: the question. Don't answer guy with no name though, Okay,
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: it's it's Alex. By the way, This is Alex. Because
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: you're wondering.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Most peop call me bar.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: Okay. So here's the uh, I think I kind of
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: get what he's saying. Look, honestly, with edge rusher, I
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: think it's kind of an eye test thing a little
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: bit more than wide receiver if you want like a
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: specific number at wide receiver, because it's easier to like,
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: I know, there's sacks and pressures, but like it's kind
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: of easier at receiver. The five to twenty five club
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: is the big one, right. Receivers that produce over five
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: hundred and twenty five yards as rookies tend to go
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: on to have really good careers, Like you know, that
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: tends to be like the line of demarcation. That's kind
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: of why I'm sort of low right now on Kyle
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: Williams because it's not just that Kyle Williams didn't hit
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: the five twenty five club. He didn't even come close, right,
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: So like that that's the number that you try to
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: look for Edge Rusher. You know, I don't have like
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: a stat like that, like if you have forty plus
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: pressures as a rookie, yar, So I don't have a
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: number that's exactly like that that has a history, But
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: I think you you really will see it with the
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: way that the team approaches it in terms of playing
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: time at bold position because I don't if they go
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: edge rusher wide receiver, and I don't know if they're
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: gonna go wide receiver, But if they go either one
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: of those positions, they do have an NFL caliber depth
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: on the roster that if that player is not the
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: best player, then that player is not going to play
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: right Like, you know, it's not like they're going into
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: a situation where they don't have a starting left defensive
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: end and no matter who they draft and how good
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: he is, he's going to play over the rest of
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: the people like Draymond Jones and Harold Landry if he's healthy,
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: or NFL players. So like, if that edge rusher is
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: already starting to crack the rotation and is already starting
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: to push for playing time against those guys, I think
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: that's a pretty good sign. So I'd say the five
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: to twenty five club is probably not something we'll find
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: out until December or January of next year, so you
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: might have to wait a little bit. At edge rusher,
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: I think if they're playing and they're contributing on a
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: team that has you know, some veteran talent on it
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: at that position, you feel pretty good about you know,
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: that guy broke through, you know is better than Harold
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: Landry by the end of the year, you'd feel pretty
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: optimistic about that. Do you have an answer to that?
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: I think you pretty much covered. I know we got
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: a couple more calls.
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Marcus is in South Carolina. What's up, Marcus?
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: It was going on Fellers. He always loved the show.
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: Love y'all's perspective, younger perspectives, not grumpy. But yeah, I
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: wanted to ask y'all. I's not specifically draft related. That's
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: kind of draft related. Assuming we trade that pick, the
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: thirty first pick to the Eagles, you know, where is
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: that rank? Because I expect Drake made to take a
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: huge leap, Like everybody was talking about his playoff woes
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: and I just feel like he was technically the first
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: time in the offense. Where where do y'all see him
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: ranking next year as season?
- 1:38:52Speaker 6: What do you.
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: Project him as far as if A J. Brown ends
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: up a Patriot?
- 1:38:57Speaker 15: Thanks?
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: Thanks Marcus for talking about Drake May. Yeah, top ten
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: quarterback in the league.
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: Yeah, should be right back in the MVP. And now
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: they're facing a little bit of a tougher schedule. But
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: I think he's going to have a better team around
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: him another year in the system. I I guess, let
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: me ask you this and I I get into this
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: stuff more once the draft happens and we have a
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: clear idea of the roster. Yeah, would a stagnant season
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: for Drake may be a good thing or a bad thing?
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: Good?
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it might be stagnant, and that's usually as
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: negative connotation. If he's more or less the guy he
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: was last year, that's a win. And I think he
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: might be. I think he might. Maybe there's some better
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: decision making, things are a little more refined, but with
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: it being a tougher schedule, there's some more awards that
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: come with it. But like, statistically, if he's more or
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: less or he was last year, which I think is
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: very possible, I'd feel pretty good about.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: That franchise quarterback level, right.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, much better he's getting.
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: Like that's I think that there's sort of the answers
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: to the test element.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the pre snap stuff we talked about this week.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: Stuff you know, seeing you know, getting things pointed in
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: the right direct, beating blitzes, having answers basically to the
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: things that he saw in the playoffs and he saw
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: it and maybe more particularly against Seattle in the Super Bowl.
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: But I don't know, and you know, Mike Rabel has
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: mentioned this too over this offseason. Physically, it's kind of
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: hard to picture being any better at the quarterback position
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: physically than Drake may is currently is right, I mean,
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: just in terms of arm talent, mobility, you know, accuracy
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: down the field, like I don't really know if there's
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: I don't know of another level of that exists mentally,
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: you know, and then the intangible stuff that Rabill probably
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: season cares about a little bit more than I do
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: because I don't, you know, I'm not in the locker
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: room like that. That type of stuff maybe is the
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: next step for him. But if he has a replica
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: of what he had last season, that means he's that guy,
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: Like that's just who he's gonna be. That guy's gonna
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: give you a chance be in the playoffs and be
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: in the hunt every single year. If he's like that
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: that player for the next you know, eight to ten years,
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: then I mean he's gonna be wearing a red jacket
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: some day. He's gonna be a great Patriot, you know.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: So you feel really good about that the whole thing
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: that you're trying to avoid. And I think, you know,
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: this kind of goes back to the whole AJ Brown
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: of it all too. As a caller alluded to the
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: AJ Brown thing. To me is like it goes back
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: to why they signed Diggs last offseason. It's a floor thing, right,
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: Like you don't want to pull the rug from underneath
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: Drake May where he doesn't have enough to be, you know,
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: a player that you don't want him to regress right right,
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: and to avoid regression, you know that obviously means surrounding
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: him with the right and necessary tools to avoid regression.
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: I don't think that quarterbacks regress solely because of things
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: that happened on to them individually. Like let's just take
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: the Houston Texans for example, and I think really highly
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: of Nikkosario, So I don't want to like crap all
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: over Houston, But see j Stroud had the great rookie year,
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: and he has regressed every single year since. Well, I
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: think that that somewhat directly ties to the play of
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: their offensive line and what they've done in front of him.
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: You know, their offensive line over the last couple of
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: years has not been good. And when a quarterback, as
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: we've seen here, starts to get hit, starts to get
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: sped up, starts to you know, get you know, jitter's
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: back there, then the mistakes start the snowball like that.
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: I don't think it's a mistake that CJ. Stroud. I
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: don't think it's only on c J Stroud that CJ.
- 1:42:31Speaker 2: Strout is not right stayed at the level that he
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: was his rookie season. So if you're the Patriots, it's infrastructure,
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: it's foundation. You just need to try to avoid c J.
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: Strouding Drake May. Yeah.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: I mean I even go back to something I said
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: during the mac Jones error, which is people were talking about, well,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: you know, it's not a great situation, and he was
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: a first round pick. You should be able to elevate
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: the situation, which like, yeah, and he didn't obviously, But
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: it's also people act like giving a quarterback help us
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: like a dirty thing. Oh he needs help. Why would
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: you not want to help your quarterback, whether it's with
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: the system, whether it's personnel, whether it's with whatever. Yeah,
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: why not make it easier for him? If he's good,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: making it easier for him makes him great. If he's great.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Making easier for him makes them spectacular. If he's spectacular,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: making it easier on him maybe makes him the MVP,
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: makes him a super Bowl winner. Of course, you want
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: to make life as easy on your quarterback as possible.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: It doesn't matter who it is, whether it's Drake May,
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: whether it's Lamar Jackson, whether it's Patrick Mahomes. Bill certainly
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: haven't done it for Josh Allen, and you see how
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: that's gone. Josh Allen, despite when he says, sometimes a
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: pretty good player, but they don't make it easy on
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: all the time up there in Buffalo. Of course, you
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: want to make things easy on your quarterback. Yeah, so
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: I although he might have crossed his savers the game list, Yeah.
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: I think he did. Henry's in DC. What's up Henry?
- 1:43:49Speaker 13: Hey, guys, thanks for making my call. Evan, I know
- 1:43:52Speaker 13: you're proud of your my guys list, and I'm wondering
- 1:43:55Speaker 13: who's from Matt list if the Patriots draft him, will
- 1:43:59Speaker 13: you feel most proud of yourself for having nailed to
- 1:44:02Speaker 13: an evaluation? And then, if you have time, what explains
- 1:44:07Speaker 13: the man's own split for Denzel Boston Because that's never
- 1:44:11Speaker 13: really made sense to me when I've heard you talking
- 1:44:13Speaker 13: about that player.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Thanks again, Yeah, thanks for the call, Henry H. Well,
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: I would just say if I nailed the event, we
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: won't know for two to three years, if I nailed
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: the evaluation right, not to go all like scout on you,
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: but like my goal is also to project who's going
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: to be good in the NFL, not just to the
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: Patriots are gonna pick.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: I'm just trying to do who they're gonna pick.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: So, like I don't want to if they would be.
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: The one where you're like, okay, so.
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: If they d My point is if they draft Chris Brazil, yeah,
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: and then Chris Brasel's Taekwon Thornton, then I'm not gonna
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: feel good about that.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: No, you know that I'm gonna be good for you.
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: I'm going to be very wrong. Okay, Well, let me
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: let me ask you this way. Like name out Malick
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: hi Warrants. They mentioned wanting speed off the edge. He
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: came here for top thirty visit, like you didn't really
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: have if they draft Malick high Warrants and I took
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: him into my yeah too, but like didn't really sleuth
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: that one out.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: No, that one didn't take too much of a deep
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: dive fagre out on their forehead a little bit.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: Who's the guy you you are, Like, this guy's a patriot,
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: They're gonna take them, They're gonna like them that everybody
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: else is gonna be like wow, really and you're like, no,
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: this is this is the however good or bad he is,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Like this guy fits and you're not all paying enough
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: attention to him. I have two for you, Okay.
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: I know people can have asked me this question a
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: couple of times over the last week, and I haven't
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: come up with a great answer. But I have two
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: guys that come to Mike, uh Travis Burke from Memphis
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: to tackle just the size, the power, the finishing ability,
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: that the attitude. Uh it feels you know that they
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: put a lot of emphasis on that with Will Campbell
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: like being somebody that's gonna set a tone in like
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: a program kind of way. I think Travis Burke fits that. Bill.
- 1:45:53Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: I'm also really high on Aidan Fisher from Indiana. Yeah,
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: I just think Aiden Fisher is this like polished inside
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: my linebacker where the green die do the robertspulane right,
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: Like he's gonna just be a lunch pale, come to work,
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: work hard, play the role be a Simon sound. Is
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: he gonna be a star in the league. Probably not,
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: but that just feels very spelany, very you know, very bowl. Okay,
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: I'll give you those two.
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: So I got a couple like, I'm not gonna go
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: Adam Randall here because they met with him, and that
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: one's been hyped up. Yeah, And as Cooper the guard
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: from Miami. Yeah, but they have that pipeline. A lot
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: of people talking about Jeremiah, right, I understand it if
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: they don't get Jeremiah right. And as Cooper's kind of
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: the other guy you take if you want that kind
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: of player, yep. And then this guy did have a
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: thirty visit. So maybe I'm not answering my own question correctly.
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: But he hasn't been talked about a lot or at
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: hall Is kron Prunty, the corner from wake Forest, this
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: deep pull. He is the makeup of a special teams
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: demon and I don't I didn't even realize this last
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: week when I was writing something. In terms of the
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: snaps played last year, they have lost three of their
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: top five and four of their top ten SPS teams
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: players excluding kicker, puncher, long snapper. Yeah, they need special
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: teams bodies. They all seed cornerback depth. When Prunty does
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: play corner and he was a third team All ACC
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: this year. Really good size, plays on the boundary, physical
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: like their kind of guy kind of reminds me of
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: Kobe Minor. I think he's a little bit better of
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: a like version of Kobe Minor, who they obviously took
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: last year for this exact role. I'm describing two forty
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: seven's on the clock Karan Prunty to compete with Kobe
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: Minor for like the last spot on the roster.
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: So my guy Natt muld would Tree mccutchin from Houston.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: So I saw him in your mock trap. I'm not
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: even familiar with him. You dug deeper than me on So.
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: This is I'll give Dan the credit. He's in the
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: Beast as a as a high you know, top twenty
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: guy at the cornerback position. U and I watched him.
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: You know, he's got some some technique things to work out,
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: but he's got outside corner speed, outside corner size, man
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: coverage ability and was like an ACE gunner special teams
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: kick coverage guy. The other guy that was like that
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: for you at safety was Spears Jennings from Roberts Us
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: a good combat yeah, and like just another like raw
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: athlete really needs to work on his like play recognition
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: and instincts and coverage if he's gonna make it at safety.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: But I think two guys that you could draft in
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: the sixth round there are gonna just play in the
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: kicking game. Because I'm with you, whether they go safety,
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: corner or linebacker later on Day three, in any of
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: those combinations, those guys they need guys to contribute on
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: in the kicking game on special teams for Gibbons Mapho
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: to buy. They lost a lot of guys on special
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: teams this offseason.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: All Right, I'm gonna ask you one more before we
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: get to our picks, because I have one email I
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: want to read. Okay, who is the one guy? I
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: don't know how many mock drafts did you? Three? Two?
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: Two?
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: I did three? Who is the one? And actually did
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: five first round picks? I did the NFL ones two.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: Who's the one guy you wanted to work into a
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: mock draft that you didn't that they're gonna pick him?
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: And you're gonna be like I should have been right
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: about this. I should have had him in a mock
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: but I never got around to it. I'll give you mine,
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: and I can't believe I never did it, because I
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: think he's the most obvious pick, and that's probably why
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: I never got to him. It was just like, I'll
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: have time to mock him later. And then we got
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: to the end, I was like, shoot, I never did that.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: I never put Casius Hawl to them in a mock draft.
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: I probably should have done that. They're probably gonna take
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: cash as how and prove me wrong. Usually my answer
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: to this question is some like Day three running back
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: I think was rahiem Ali a couple of years ago,
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: because obviously gonna get Will Cambell in a mock draft,
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna get Rake may I. I screwed up. I
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: never got I lost track again. It was a sprint
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: out of Marathon. I somehow didn't mock Casius Howl to him.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: I got Zion Young, I got Malachai Lawrence, I got
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: a key Mezzador. I probably should have done him instead
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: of Mezzador in that first one. I thought Mezador's age
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: was going to knock him down the board more than
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: it did, but I didn't get cashus Hal in there,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: and that's on me.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: So, you know, my my my board of record is
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: my big board. I don't really look. I count the mock.
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: Drafts, but that's so many more players.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: But I still that's that's what I do, right, the
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: big board. And the one guy that I really wanted
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: to put on the big board, but it just didn't
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: work and didn't fit with Genesis Smith from Arizona because
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: I feel like they need a cover safety. They are
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: gonna He can play a little bit in the slot,
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: he can play deep safety. He played slot in twenty
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: four deep safety and twenty five did him both pretty well.
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: His big knock is his tackling. He's not a very
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: good tackler, but the way he covers and the roles
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: that he can play. So, you know, I love Bud Clark.
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: You know, that's another one of my guys in this draft.
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: I had to pick between the two of them. Yeah,
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: and I ended up putting Bud Clark on the board
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: instead of Genesis. All right, So the Patriot ended up
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: taking Genesis Smith and not Bud Clark.
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: The Patriots first two picks in this draft will be
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: Cashius Hall and Genesis Smith.
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I really liked I know this is like a
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: big yeah, but yeah, if they can teach him how
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: to tackle, his coverage ability is off the charts. Good.
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: I'll throw another guy in that that they've been linked
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: in the last couple of days that we're not high on.
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: This would be the catch twenty two just missed this draft. Yeah,
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: it would be Cashus Hall at thirty one, Eli Stower's
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: sixty three, Genesis Smith at ninety five.
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: So I don't feel like I we talked enough about Eli.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: We didn't really miss Eli start, but he's a good player.
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: I just struggle we're gonna get misunderstood on Eli Steers.
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: I think the biggest issue that I have with Eli
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: Stowers is that if they draft him. It's kind of
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: the same thing with Zion Young. I mentioned I was
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: writing my We're gonna seg like, I just can't mean
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: I wrote five h pre wrote five pieces on guys
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: that they might draft, and if it's Stowers at some point,
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: or it's Zion Young at another point, this is at
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: the end of the day, is Patriots dot Com all.
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: I also don't want to just say that a guy's
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: gonna stink before he even plays it down in the NFL.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: I just don't get to fit.
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: The way that I am going to have to do
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: mental gymnastics to try to sell Eli stoweres or Zion Young,
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: but also make it clear that I'm not super high
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: on the pick. I'll give you an example. This happened
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: with me with Jaren Polk. You or like, I didn't
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: really like the player, but the Patriots just drafted him.
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: I worked for the team. It was like, how am
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: I supposed to I can't have a cold, strange level
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: melt down right now, so I'm gonna have to just
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: keep it cool. That's gonna be the tough one. I
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: have a really quick email that I wanted to get to,
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: and then we're going to make our picks. Yeah, this
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: is more of a generic thing, but I'm interested to
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: hear your take on it. So the email or email,
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: this is Joe from the Darkness. He says that me uh,
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: reading the picks off and tipping picks. I want to
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: hear your take on that in general. But he said
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: that on the draft show. I normally just kind of
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: like nonshine, be like, yeah, they picked Will Campbell guy
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: and and like that. No, I just like, that's why
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: when it actually happens, I.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: Just kind of like he wants, yeah, exactly, that's the pick.
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: He wants to uh, you know, he wants some more
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: production value or something that isn't just me being like
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: trumpets Drake may Yeah.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: You guys are an NFL property. Play the play the ESPN,
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: try the music, play the pick.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: It said, we usually play the sound of Cadell reading
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: the pics, Okay, but I usually find out about ninety seconds.
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: So what I've done in the past, so that's what
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: I'm getting at is do you tip picks? Do you
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: are you a pro tip picker or are you.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: I like what Mike Greese does. Mike Grease tweets an
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: emoji and you have to figure out off the emoji
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: who they took. Like last year he did Snapping Fingers
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: and there was a guy forget who there was a
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: safety whose last name was snaps her Fingers or something,
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: and I was like, did they take this random safety?
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: And every was like, no, long snapper. I was like, oh, okay,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: what I have done the CLNS draft show we did
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: this is pre Evan Lazar CLNS.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: Wow, So this.
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: Would have been the twenty eighteen draft. This was the
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: Sony Michelle Isaiah Win draft YEP, where we were live
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: and I'm seeing the people tipping the picks. I was
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: like twenty four. I wanted to seem like I knew
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: what I was talking about. Let's see the pick, and
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: like I didn't do this with the Patriots. I actually
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: called the Sony Michelle pick. I was on tracks. Can
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: confirm this, yeah, because we had him on on a
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: phoner and I was like, hey, do you think they'd
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: go double Georgian? Go Sony Michelle? But you know, we'll
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: be getting there and I'm seeing them, I'm seeing Twitter
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: and we're talking about I'm like, hmm, you guys think
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: the Dolphins would go make a Fitzpatrick here? And by
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: the way, the guys on the desk totally do this,
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: like the guys in the ESPN and NFL. They get
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: it in their ear and they're like, huh, I wonder
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: if the Raiders would go Colton Miller with this pick.
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: Something to watch.
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: I don't do that.
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: Anymore, but I did that one year and have fun
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: with it.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Just to be clear, because it's in the chatting, I
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: get the question. I'm not saying I can't be critical
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: of the team ever. I'm just saying that I might
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: be wrong, right, So like, if they draft somebody that
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: I don't particularly like, like, we'll go back to the examples.
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: One of my five pre rights was Zion Young. If
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: they drave Zion Young, I'm not going to be super
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: high on it. But I'm not going to come on
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: the show and be like horrible like what I did
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: with Cold Strange right, like and have this whole meltdown
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: because maybe in six months They're going to be right
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: about Zion Young and I'm going to be wrong. Right,
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: There's that always that possibility. So I wrote five pre rights,
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: which tips off kind of where I think this is headed.
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: I have eleven on my to do list Jesus Christ, Max,
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: want to be prepared, Maxiana Toy, Blake, Miller, cash Is, Howell, Malki, Lawrence,
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: Zion Young.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: Those are my.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Five, Okay, I have I have all of those, Yeah,
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: I have I Miller, howl Parker Young, Lawrence Our, Mason,
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: Thomas gay back is because I can quickly turn those
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: around if they trade back. And then Cad McDonald, Denzel Boston,
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: Casey conception.
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: Okay, so the only ones that I thought about doing that.
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: I haven't done to the two receivers.
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: So and also I don't know if you're doing like
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: more in depth, like these aren't no, these are just
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: like this is five breaking is like for all the
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: edge rushers, Like the first two paragraphs will be about them,
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: but like you put at the end, he joins Draymond
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: Jones and Harol Landernewing, like that I can call. I
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: don't have to write six different articles. I just have
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: to do a little bit. There's some copying, but we're
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: doing a lot of inside baseball in the.
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: Show, a lot of how the process I really that's
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: that was what I noticed as I was doing this
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: yesterday and I started got into the swing of it,
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: I was like, oh wait a second, Like if they
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: take an edge rusher, it's the same spiel about why
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: they took the edge rusher right for all these guys.
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: So that ended up just being copy and paste. So
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: those are the five guys, and I think that kind
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: of tells people where I'm sort of at of where
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: they're gonna go. So we can do the ESPN chime
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: for the show. And I'm gonna ask you, Alex Bart
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: with the thirty first pick in the twenty twenty six
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: NFL Draft, the New England Patriots will select.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: They won't. I'm actually gonna say trade down. I'm leaning
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: more trade down if they pick at thirty one, which
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: I'm not rolling out, but yeah, if they pick at
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: thirty one, I'm gonna go cash us. Well, I didn't
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: mock them, I probably should have. I think he makes
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: a lot of good torture yourself. I think, yes, oh yeah,
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: had have you not seen me the week before the draft?
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: I think if he haunted most likely hanare right. If
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: he Hana Troy Miller there, they'll take them. I'm buying
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: into the idea that all seven tackles go in the
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: top thirty. Okay, so I think they would like to
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: take a tackle. I think that would be their ideal pick.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: It's nice to have. They don't often go that way.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: And then when the board falls, I think it's cash
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: as hell if they do trade back. I actually think
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: the Seahawks make a lot. If they don't trade back,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: and they said they want to, the Seahawks can be
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: cash as hall a team. He's really a fit for
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: what they do too. So I'm gonna go cash as
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: hell at thirty one, Malachi Lawrence fits a trade back.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: So I I I'm gonna say, ma, Maxianatur.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: I think, Okay, you think he's gonna be there?
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: I think that is their dream pick. If he is there.
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: If he's there, he's the pick. I think, do you
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: think he's gonna be there?
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: I think he's gonna be there because ultimately with there
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: and maybe I guess the teams that are picking in
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: the twenties or you know, even thirty have this potentially
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: this luxury too. But I do think Max is a
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: potential rookie red shirt player, if not the whole year,
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: at least a portion of the season. Not a lot
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: of teams that have to tackle depth to do that.
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: That is the one spot the Patriots, not the one spot,
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: but a spot that the Patriots might have the luxury
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: of red shirting a player behind Morgan Moses at that spot.
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: So there's not when you think about it, like there's
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: not a lot of teams that have that luxury. The
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: Patriots are one of a few. So that means that
- 1:58:10Speaker 2: in the first round at least, I think there's only
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: a small handful of teams that can take a chance
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: on a guy like Keanitor and take a chance on
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: a guy like Caleb Blomo too. I would say who
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: also might need some time. So I'm gonna say Maxianator today.
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: I would also say close runner up to maxi Ontore.
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: Let's say that he's off the board. I think Malachi
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: Lawrence is like the sneaky pick at thirty one. If
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: the tackle doesn't fall all.
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: Right, if they don't go tackle edge or receiver, who
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: do they take a McDonald fo Yeah, I'm with you,
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: but I.
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: Think that Malachi Lawrence the reason why I've sort of
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: I'm a catches howl guy. I've been cashs howl over
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: Malkay Lawrence this entire time. Taking back to back players
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: with outlier measurements for the position you're drafting them to
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: play does not feel like the best sort of PR
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: messing fate.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so I would want them to draft off at
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: PR move, but I do move is the wrong word.
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: But I'm just saying tessing fate. It's like you got
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: an outlier and Will Campbell. What are the chances you
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: get to outliers two years in a row.
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: So I think cashus hawl is a better play prospect
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: and a better player than Malachi Lawrence, especially right now.
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: But I think Malachi Lawrence has a mense upside. He
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: has a little bit more of the measurables that you're
- 1:59:24Speaker 2: looking for. He's still not the biggest guy, but it's
- 1:59:27Speaker 2: at least a little bit bigger than guy like cash
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: Is Howl in terms of the length and the wingspan,
- 1:59:31Speaker 2: uh and the yeah height as well.
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: So we're basically we're kind of in the same spot.
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: Ivana Trurph, he's there if he's not there Howl or Lawrence.
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: So I'm gonna say, Maxionotor, I'm gonna lock that in.
- 1:59:42Speaker 2: You're gonna say trade down that if you had to,
- 1:59:44Speaker 2: like gun to your head.
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I do think they're gonna trade, but that that's
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: not for the sake of the exercise. I'm gonna say,
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: Malachi Lawrence, I don't think is gonna make it to them.
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: I don't I think they would take him if they could.
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: I don't think he makes it to them, and they
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: go ahead, Rusher, I'm gonna say, hell all right.
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: So those are our picks, the top ten, our pick
- 2:00:04Speaker 2: for the Patriots at thirty one. This show schedule for
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: tomorrow from one to two we have our cocktail Hour,
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: That's what I'm calling it. On Patriots Draft Countdown. We're
- 2:00:15Speaker 2: we're gonna give some last second thoughts, kick around some
- 2:00:18Speaker 2: ideas before the draft. That should be a fun time.
- 2:00:21Speaker 2: You come in like in like you know your hoodie,
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: like that's your casual where, right, and it's just kind
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: of a precursor to the draft. Then at seven pm
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: we our stream will start and we'll be live through
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: the entire first round till the end of the night.

- 2:00:37Speaker 2: it'll be a great couple of days.
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: And I will actually be here. Oh I haven't been

- 2:00:45Speaker 1: really lucky the last couple years there were no playoff nights.

- 2:00:55Speaker 1: if there's a we threaded that needle perfectly, like if
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: there was a year to lose the show. But I'll
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: be here to lette and I'll be doing check ins
