- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. So, we've learned about sending letters and packages, doctor visits, and even swimming pools. What's today's adventure? Lucas: Today, we're going to the bank! Imagine you're in Germany and need to handle some money matters. Luna: Oh, that sounds useful. I've always wondered how to say 'I want to withdraw money.' Lucas: Exactly! That's our first phrase: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Ich möchte Geld abheben. Luna: Ich möchte Geld abheben. That's a mouthful! 'Ich möchte' is 'I would like', right? Lucas: Yes, and 'Geld abheben' means 'withdraw money'. So, Ich möchte Geld abheben. Luna: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Got it. So if I'm at the bank, I say that? Lucas: Correct. Let's practice it again: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Luna: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Lucas: Perfect! Now, another situation: you want to transfer money. Say: Ich möchte überweisen. Ich möchte überweisen. Luna: Ich möchte überweisen. That sounds like 'overweisen' but I know it's 'transfer'. Lucas: Yes, überweisen means to transfer. So, Ich möchte überweisen. Luna: Ich möchte überweisen. Lucas: Great. Now, the bank teller might ask: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? Wie hoch ist der Betrag? Meaning 'How much is the amount?' Luna: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? 'Der Betrag' is the amount? Lucas: Exactly. So if you want to withdraw 50 euros, you'd say '50 Euro.' But first, they ask that question. Luna: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? Okay. Lucas: And you might need to hand over your card. Say: Hier ist meine Karte. Hier ist meine Karte. Luna: Hier ist meine Karte. Simple! 'Here is my card.' Lucas: Yes. And finally, to end politely: Vielen Dank, auf Wiedersehen. Vielen Dank, auf Wiedersehen. Luna: Vielen Dank, auf Wiedersehen. Classic! Lucas: So let's put it in a little dialogue. Imagine you walk up to the teller: You: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Teller: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? You: 50 Euro. Hier ist meine Karte. Teller: Okay, bitte schön. You: Vielen Dank, auf Wiedersehen. Luna: Oh, that's a nice flow. I can see myself using that. Lucas: Let's repeat all phrases one more time. Repeat after me: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Luna: Ich möchte Geld abheben. Lucas: Ich möchte überweisen. Luna: Ich möchte überweisen. Lucas: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? Luna: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? Lucas: Hier ist meine Karte. Luna: Hier ist meine Karte. Lucas: Vielen Dank, auf Wiedersehen. Luna: Vielen Dank, auf Wiedersehen. Lucas: You did great, Luna! We hope you're finding these episodes helpful. Lucas: And now, back to practicing! Let's imagine a different scenario: you want to transfer money. What do you say? Luna: Ich möchte überweisen. Lucas: Perfect! And if the teller asks the amount? Luna: Wie hoch ist der Betrag? Lucas: Great. So we've covered quite a bit today. Remember to practice these phrases out loud. Luna: Yes, and if you go to a bank in Germany, you'll be ready! Lucas: That's all for today. Danke fürs Zuhören! Tschüss!
