- Simeon Schlicher: Well, you get me again. And Makaiah this time. It's mostly college football. We're coming to you live. Yeah, you know you missed that. From Liola and Ocean City. micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: I guessed it right. Makaiah's in a random white bedroom. He there might be a dead body behind him. It's your boy, aka aka and Captain Boring. Robert's down, I think, at Disney or some other vacation. We've done really well about planning our lives around college football, as you can see. Me with volleyball. I have a nine thirty game tonight, Makaiah. That means I will be getting to bed at like eleven thirty. Listen, micaiah: Yeah, yeah. You made some good decisions there. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: when you get to BR age, you take the cardio where you can get the cardio. micaiah: Well that's true, that's true. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: You know? Here we are. We had a fantastic week here in college sports. I watched as the quick, very, very quick, quicker than me on my wedding night. Come on. recap gave micaiah: Hey, come on. Simeon Schlicher: you. but I I watched a lot. Makiah, looks like you have some thoughts. Let's just start where all the comments want us to start anyway. It's with Michigan. Twelve o'clock game. They beat Oklahoma. Fourteen I don't know, it was some weird weird score from what I'm remembering. micaiah: yeah, it was seventeen ten was the final. Simeon Schlicher: Not a weird score at all. micaiah: not a wheels weird score at all. Yeah, your recap, which was excellently done by the way, really covered it. The only thing I want to touch on is a couple things. Michigan's defensive line just made it really uncomfortable for John Mentir all afternoon. That was very evident early. It's the deepest part of the football team according to Whittingham and that can that really showed out on Saturday. He wa that entire unit is very deep and very athletic and made every time John Mateer dropped back to pass, it they were collapsing the pocket. Why Oklahoma didn't run more, I don't know. That is something Oklahoma fans I've been hearing are just very upset with. I mean, they they had in that game the running backs alone for Oklahoma did not even sniff a hundred yards. And it wasn't I it wasn't that Michigan's D line was that dominant against the run. They just didn't try. They just didn't Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. micaiah: outright to try. So running backs alone had 12, 15, 16 carries for fifty-five yards. So Simeon Schlicher: You know, it's funny, every time they ran the ball, I'd be like I'd be like, let's see, Michigan City, they're running the ball. there's an eight yard carry. there's a four yard carry. It was very interesting watching that game and being like, and now that you say this, they should have just r they were dominating, actually. Well statistically dominating on the run game. What was it, four or four and a half yards of carry, I think is what it boiled down to, something like that. I'm trying to pull up the stats. I of course I micaiah: Who which team? Simeon Schlicher: don't have them for Oklahoma. micaiah: Yeah, well John Matir a was big part of that. They ran for three point four yard they averaged three point four, right? But the run the running backs at averaged three point nine and three point seven. So there's more like the running backs were doing doing well on the ground, but their leading rusher Lloyd of Art only got it nine times. Centenya, who was their wide receiver, got it three times, Xavier Robinson three times. Blaylock one time, and then John Matir was the leading rusher thirteen times. And as I've said this, and I'll say it for Bryce Underwood of Michigan as well, you can't have your quarterback be your leading rusher for 14 straight breaths. That's just not gonna work. And while Bryce Underwood did what was asked of him to do, not turn the ball over, we're gonna run you a lot, it was really like Michigan's offense went back to the base. of what they of the foundation of what they want their offense to be. It's like they tried to build a two-story house in week one and that just didn't work. And so they tore everything down and they started with the foundation again. So that is gonna be very interesting how now the offense develops. But what they do have to clean up, Simeon, that you didn't touch on, well you did a a little bit was they still had like nine plus penalties. That's back to back weeks they had nine plus penalties And a lot of them were aft non-procedural penalties. So either false start, offsides, or unsportsmanlike conduct, right? So there's a lot to clean up. There's a lot to like about the defense on both for both Michigan and Oklahoma. There's a lot of question marks on offense for Michigan and Oklahoma. I thought that. Michigan's j jump, how far they jump back into the top twenty five was a little reactionary. Simeon Schlicher: I called it, but yeah. micaiah: It it wa it was like they reacted they react it's like a pendulum it swung too far back, they dropped Michigan out and then it swung too far back the other way and they like put in the teams Simeon Schlicher: No. See, but I like that they dropped him out. micaiah: and they dropped Oklahoma all the way to twenty three. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I think a a f a thirteen point a thirteen position drop for Oklahoma is a little bit far. I mean, I had Michigan, I think I said it somewhere in the mid like early they were gonna put him back at like twenty one, twenty two. So being too far being literally too off isn't that bad. micaiah: Where where'd they end up putting them? Simeon Schlicher: Nineteen. micaiah: Yeah, I again, like Simeon Schlicher: They basically swapped them out for Washington. So when Washington wins and Michigan loses against UTEP for whatever reason, they'll just flip them back, I'm sure. micaiah: Yeah, Oklahoma defensively, very sound. all all eleven start they got eleven starters back on defense. Brent Venables calls a heck of a game. He he's very he's a very adept and aggressive play caller and very good, but can he be a head coach? Or is this more of an offense thing with Ben Arbuckle and John Matthew just not just not cutting it, right? Not a lot of touch passes. That was that's the big talk this week that the interception that he threw that was the like game ceiling interception. Michigan turned into the touchdown as it was ten ten. Needed some loft on the ball and all that was it was just a line drive. And Jai here Jair Hill undercut it and took it back. Yeah, Jair Hill owed us that for personal foul inside the one that allowed Oklahoma to go down the field and score the game time touchdown. So very a very sloppy game on both teams. Michigan comes away with it. I I still don't know who this Michigan team is. I still don't know who this Oklahoma team is, besides they'll be good defensively. They gotta get their running game going. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. I think there's a lot of question marks. By the way, eleven eleven penalties for ninety yards total was the was was the final. micaiah: That's j that's so many. I and I think it and I think in week one it was like nine for a hundred or something like that. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, i it was too much. one fun fact that w we'll go before I go on an ADHD rabbit hole real quick. their punter, Cam Brown. Seven micaiah: Excellent. Simeon Schlicher: total punt seven total punts, six inside the twenty. Longest was a fifty one yarder. micaiah: Yeah. two inside two inside the five. Three inside the ten, I think. Simeon Schlicher: Dude, it just p f beautiful the game that game was a real good field position type game. It it really was. Including in g give it micaiah: Yeah. And Michigan won that battle. Simeon Schlicher: something to to Grayson Grayson Miller as well. Also had he had a sixty two yard punt. Just an absolute rocket for a leg. micaiah: He he had one punt that they the first punt of the game that was they roughed him on or they ran into him that give it gave him a first down. He punted the ball from the twenty yard line, went all the way into the end zone. He punted the ball eight yards. So it Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. But micaiah: excellent punting on Saturday. That's how good that game was. Not in the side ho not in the side hawk was game of punters. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, for real. I mean, when is the when is it not? Franklin and Marshall is two and two. This is the rabbit hole I'm going under. I just wanted to go. I don't really care about Division Three football right now. It gets a little messy all over the place. We sh like shouting out the Pennsylvania teams. Susquehanna is nineteenth at two and and I think who else got a Grove City College has a couple and Dickinson both have votes right now. But like Division Three, there's so many teams you never know. This is the fun part. Coaches pulled Division II. Okay. This is what ESPN gives us, people. So if the AP has it, Finley is number nine. We always have to shout out Finley. micaiah: Shadow Finley. Simeon Schlicher: the Oilers. Cootstown is number three. Okay, and then we're micaiah: Okay. Simeon Schlicher: gonna go down to Slippery Rock at 11. IUP, shout out Kirks and Netty at 12. micaiah: Pennsylvania really showing out in the top ten. Simeon Schlicher: I don't know what it is about. Pennsylvania D two football right now. did I see that micaiah: But we are fine. Simeon Schlicher: they had a few. California had had 29 votes as well. that's California PA, obviously. and just a reminder that Pittsburgh State is not in Pennsylvania. D two, this is this is just a fun fact here for you. First of all, Yale has played no games and is ranked 20th. micaiah: What Wait, wait, in D two Yale's D two? Yes? yes, okay. All right. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: They are zero and zero. sorry, an FCS. I'm jumping up to FCS. I apologize. I apologize. This is this is my favorite. We said two FCS teams beat FBS teams. That is Montana State, I believe, was one of them. I forget who they played. Nevada, I think. micaiah: Nevada, yep. Simeon Schlicher: thank you, Robert, for that. Illinois State is number four. That's one and four. Those are the two teams that beat FBS teams. South Dakota State, I think they played Northwestern really well. They're number three that last week. And Southern Illinois is twenty-five. I'm just shouting out the state of Illinois. You got two teams that we've never heard of until this year. Unless you went there. yes, so South Dakota State beat Stetson by 70 and then turned week zero and then turned around and lost 34 to 18 to Northwestern and then Clobbered, New Haven, 57 14. Fun game, micaiah: Go. Simeon Schlicher: ESBN plus Youngstown State. micaiah: Going back to D two football, do you know they they have a thirty two team playoff? Simeon Schlicher: Didn't they up it last year or is it this year that they're upping micaiah: No Simeon Schlicher: it too? micaiah: well I no, I I think the new up is thirty two. It's thirty two teams Simeon Schlicher: Okay. micaiah: and it goes like regional, super regional, and then like the final four. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: Got it. So they really put they they really put the do what Division One should be doing with your regional your conference being a part of the being a part of the tournament. micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. I mean I don't I don't yeah, I I think there should be I think there should be less teams, but but for everyone saying that twenty four or it can't be done or whatever excuse they want to use that it can't be, is just totally inaccurate because it totally can be 'cause division two does it. That that's just what I found out this week. So that was my fun fact of the day. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, it doesn't surprise me. Also, Kutztown, second largest state school after Pennsyl after Penn State. And Penn State really isn't a state school, but we won't bore you with the details. Michigan takes on UTEP. Oklahoma takes on who do they take on this week? it's loading New Mexico, who blew out a team last week. micaiah: they t so so yeah, they scored seventy. Oklahoma's got a hard next three games, I believe. I think it's New Mexico, Georgia and Red River. Simeon Schlicher: Texas. Yeah, baby. Bang bang. Bang bang. micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. So they they got a they they take on a team that scored seventy, then the number three team in the nation and the number one team in the nation. Georgia's two. well. Okay. Georgia should be Simeon Schlicher: Two and then one right now. Georgia's two right now. Okay, so I guess we need to jump over to the AP top twenty-five for Makaiah's sake. Texas jumped after beating Ohio State. I think Makai's about to talk about that. yes, he is. And then Georgia state, Georgia Notre Dame stayed the same at two and three. Indiana moved up one position to four. So d Miami moved up two positions to five after Malachi Tony just r ran by the entire, I don't even know what state he was playing against. and then Ohio State dropped five, which I don't love with how good they looked. We talked about that in the group chat to six. LSU at there at seven, they moved up one position, as did Old Miss, Texas AM and Alabama moved up two positions. That rounds out your top ten. don't love USC at twelve, just making that comment. They have not played good football this year so far. If you've taken a look at their games, just a heads up for future when they inevitably be get upset by somebody they shouldn't lose to. Micaiah, Ohio State, Texas. That was the game Ohio State played for two and quarters and change, and then, as I said, loaded the gun, put the gun in the guys' hands, pulled the gun to their head, told them to shoot themselves. how do you not throw the ball to a number a top five draft pick in Jeremiah Smith after the second quar quarter? micaiah: Well I d yeah, so I did l I I looked that up. So he got like ten targets in the first half, right? He did get like another six to eight. He had a s total of sixteen targets, but it wasn't as consistent and in the second half, if you look at their drive chart, it's a lot of one yard run, one yard run, then on third down throw it to Jeremiah Smith and either it's it was caught for a first down or incomplete and they punish. So it was very much an NFL style model, and it's Arthur Smith, right? And it it just seemed a little conservative. And then Arch really just kinda woke up. He was not good for a majority of that game. Simeon Schlicher: No, he was not. micaiah: He was pretty average to below average. The now Texas did have a rough first five plays. They turned it over twice in the first five plays. one of the the fum ball first play of the game and then Ohio State gets a field goal. Arch Manning has Cam Coleman wide open on a post. He is seven yards in front of the defender. If that ball is on target, it is a walk-in touchdown for Cam Coleman. Instead, it's out in front. Cam Coleman's got a dive. It is a one in a million chance ball bounces up into the air and gets intercepted, right? So that's just an example of how Arch was not the best until it was late. But then even late, that last drive, Arch really didn't do much of anything. It was w getting under center, turn around, hand the ball off to either Hollywood Smothers or Relique Brown, and just let them let that offensive line road grade people. And what Ohio State did in the first half. which was the guard center guard combo mauling Texas. Texas then returned the favor late in that fourth quarter and Ohio State was tired and they just wore them down. But Julian Saiyan was again good in the first half, not good in the second half at all. And then you kind of flipped it on like the game was mirrored first second first half to second half with the teams and how they acted. They almost flipped on their heads defenses I thought were sound for a majority of the game. But yeah, Ohio State just kind of run, run, pass, first down, and then run, run, incomplete, punt. And when you punted from the Texas 39, you know, in those to start the second half to play conservative, then you miss the field goal to go up nine late in the fourth quarter. And and that's the game. I do not agree that with how far that they dropped Ohio State because those Two teams look like the two best teams in the country when when they played last night. I'm jump yeah, I'm jumping Simeon Schlicher: When they when they were playing their ball. micaiah: ahead. But Robert's kind of playoff rankings that we're gonna do. I I really respect him because he dropped it. He had Ohio State one last week. He dropped in one spot. So it's Texas, Ohio State, Miami, Georgia. Notre Dame is five, Texas Tech. Indiana, six seven, LSU Old Miss, that'll get figured out this weekend. Texas AM, Alabama, and then Boise State that made a statement against Memphis, put up thirty-eight points. And so they're looking like the strong group of six team to probably make the playoff. And we kind of saw what they did with Oregon. They're very sound defensively, and offensively they stick with the running game. Whether or not that was Oregon's defense or Boise's offense, I I guess that is the question to to be asked because Oregon's defense through two weeks has just been so poorish. Simeon Schlicher: Sorry, I just found out that Arthur Smith is a Nepo baby, and that is for some reason the best thing ever. sorry your dad died, Arthur. For some reason, if you're hearing this, he died last year. but dude founded FedEx, served in the Marine Corps, in the V in the Vietnam War, wounded, two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Silver Star. So clearly like not micaiah: Arthur Smith's dad founded FedEx. Simeon Schlicher: Frederick Wallace Smith, founder, known for founder of FedEx Corporation. Yes, founder and chairman of FedEx. so he stepped down as CEO in twenty twenty two. He died at eighty, so early death, unfortunately, for Arthur for sorry, for Frederick, Fred, I'm sure. Freddy probably his wife called him. Who knows? Maybe called him Pookie. Anyway, that's a fun fact for you. Ohio State takes on Kent State. I thought that game was over in micaiah: I gave you a great segue and your ADD t just took it took it over. I gave you a segue Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Makai that's micaiah: right into Oregon, Oklahoma State and you just did not you said, You know what? Nelp, I'll wait for the next train Simeon Schlicher: I I had I had already moved on, yeah. I thought the b Ohio state Kent State game was in London. micaiah: No. The big noon Saturday, the pregame show, is going over for Iowa State, Kansas State, which is the game in London, but then the game at noon on Fox is Ohio State Kent State, but which is just riveting. Simeon Schlicher: It's Ohio State's third string against Kent State's first string. Makaiah, there's no money line on the game right now, according to ESPN's odds by DraftKings. We're not please bet responsibly. I the overrunder is fifty six and a half. With how the w yeah, with how the world's going. You're taking the over, right? Yeah. micaiah: Over. Over. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. The this this game is the this game is fifty six to seven. Like, Kenn State might get a late Simeon Schlicher: What do you it micaiah: late touchdown. Simeon Schlicher: what what do you think the spread is on this game? micaiah: What the Wait Ohio State? Simeon Schlicher: It does not I will give you I will give you a hint. It does not start with a one, a two, or a three. micaiah: Yeah, it's probably it's prob it's probably like fifty. Simeon Schlicher: Fifty-two and a half. The micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: over under is fifty-nine and a half. Those are seven points apart for those two numbers. micaiah: Yeah, yeah. So they figure that Ohio State will do like eight fifty six to seven type, yeah. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: Fifty nine. Yeah. Yeah, a hundred percent. That is crazy for me. Texas takes on before we transition over to Oregon, who's just all sorts of question mark, UTSA on the on SEC Network Plus at eight PM at home. They get they also get three home games. Yeah. micaiah: Get your credit card out, ladies and gentlemen, another subscription you gotta pay for. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Yeah. Who who knows? Okay. Oregon, I'm sorry for missing your transition. Oregon lost to Oak the micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: Oklahoma State mean green. micaiah: As a twenty plus point favorite. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. micaiah: yeah, this is I mean, I I mean Simeon Schlicher: You said you wanted to talk about it. Here you go. micaiah: I so again your recap was very good. It was five hundred and fifty-four yards to like two eighty-seven or something like that. The only reason this game was closed is because Oregon essentially had two pick sixes. They had one actual Simeon Schlicher: Mm. micaiah: pick six and then one pick six that kind of took it down to where then Oregon punched it in a few plays later. So without those 14 points, this is a rubbing by Oklahoma's feet. And what's most concerning to me is the D line that is was highly talented as the best in the country. They had all four starters back. They, you know, they're deep, they got depth, and a good secondary, you know, linebacker was a little bit of a question mark. Against Boise, they allowed points early in that game. And then here in at Oklahoma State, you allowed Drew Mess the maker, who's not even a running quarterback to run for a hundred yards. How how many yard how many yards did Oklahoma State run for? Like 250 something? That's Simeon Schlicher: Two hundred and thirty two hundred and thirty seven total. micaiah: that's that that's on your D line. If you want to put his passing stats on your secondary, okay, sure. But your D line has to own the rushing stats. And that's just it it it's mind boggling to me that that they were just that porous against for two straight weeks. Simeon Schlicher: I didn't watch this game, like I said in the recap. The recap was basically what you said. He his longest of those 109 yards, 75 of them clearly came from one play. Can you really micaiah: Through Messmaker? Simeon Schlicher: yeah, can you clearly give them that? So in in all reality, if you take away that one play, he ran for 30 yards. micaiah: Sure, okay, f sure, right. But still a a run of seventy five yards is still on the defensive line. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Okay, that's fine. I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Dante Moore had a QBR of twenty. micaiah: But the okay take take away that seven ta take away that seventy five yards. They still Oklahoma State still ran for a hundred and eighty yards. Like Oklahoma State dominated Simeon Schlicher: Yeah Caleb Hawkett, yeah. micaiah: both lines of scrimmage on Saturday. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, organ organ rushed organ rushed for ninety. So micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: literally half as many if you take away. Dante Moore had a QBR of twenty. Was it really that bad? micaiah: Yeah. he was inaccurate. So that this is back to back weeks. First half Simeon Schlicher: Fourteen for twenty nine averages six point six. micaiah: against Boise, inaccurate. Saturday, and then second half, he caught fire. Saturday, kind of inaccurate. All game. It was a sloppy game. The game was delayed an hour and a half from the original. It didn't actually kick off until 1 30 because there was weather Simeon Schlicher: That's right. micaiah: in the area. But you know, the last Oregon play of the day was they kind of went with a toss sweep. Running back took his eyes off, fumbled the football, bounces right back up to it, couldn't get it. Oklahoma State but like it was just messy for Oregon all day. it was hot, it was human. Dante Moore had to get treatment after. But yeah, Dante Moore through the first two weeks, i he would he's not grading out well by NFL scouts by any means. I I I would assume. Simeon Schlicher: Well, he gets an O in three Portland State on the Big Ten network at ten thirty PM on Sun on Saturday. micaiah: Yeah. They and then you get and then you get USC. So this is your get right game because you Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: And then UCLA and then Nebraska and then Illinois and and well and then Northwestern. And I the reason I bring those up is one of those four schools, if you beat USC, if you're still playing like this, one of those four schools is gonna get you. micaiah: Yeah you all all of those four schools have Simeon Schlicher: And I micaiah: moved the ball very efficiently on offense. Yeah. Tip Kelly down there. Tip tip Kelly now down there drawing up great ball plays, you know? Simeon Schlicher: I just said that about Northwestern Makaiah. Northwestern. Who is two and right one they've only played one game. They're one and Yeah. real quick, just 'cause I'm here before I jump over to Oklahoma State. is Rutgers coach, is Greg Shiano getting fired by week six? micaiah: I would I would find it hard to believe if he doesn't. I don't know how it's someone on our YouTube our YouTube channel, by the way, thank you everyone for who has engaged with mostly college football, either on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, wherever you've been engaging, thank you so much for engaging with us. But someone on our YouTube channel said, Why are people hating on Rutgers? Did you say that? they should dissolve the program af you know it the Indiana program, the Northwestern program, you know, kind of took the low the bottom of the Big Ten Purdue was one of And I didn't respond to the comment 'cause I didn't know how, but they like Rutgers, I mean, what was that, eight years ago? They lost seventy eight to nothing to Michigan. Simeon Schlicher: You you are a you are a six and six. Right. You were a six and six program trending up with Greg Ciano and now you're an O and starting O and two looking like you're gonna go I'm questioning if you can beat Howard in two weeks. Howard. micaiah: I you you would think that they'd be able to handle Howard, but just what like Ruckers should always be a lot better than what they are. Like Ruckers founded football. That or at least that's you know, that's their big claim to thing. Simeon Schlicher: Yes. I mean they don't they're to be fair, like so UMass clearly looks like a better team, Boston College, okay, we'll see what what they do if Bill O'Brien actually has the team turned around or not. They get USC this week, Howard the week after, Indiana, Maryland, which for them's gonna be a challenge, Northwestern, again challenge, Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan's fifty fifty at this point. micaiah: I don't see a win on their schedule outside of Howard. I don't see a win on their schedule. And this would be now like before Greg Ciano would get there, they were winning one to two games a year. Right? They were getting blown out by every Simeon Schlicher: They were winning up to six. They were at least getting they were yeah, and when he got there and they were at least getting six games. Yeah. micaiah: And Greg Ciano's been okay, but now something's stale or something and it's just not working for him anymore. Simeon Schlicher: I'm it it's it's clearly money, just in case anyone doesn't remember. I think the president micaiah: Yeah, I mean that's why they're playing Simeon Schlicher: came out and said, Guys, there we have a large we have a large alumni pool. No one's proud of going to Rutgers. Can we get some money please? It's gonna cost us thirty million a year to actually keep up with these teams and we're not gonna be able to do that. micaiah: Yeah. It it's I I I don't like dissolving the football program, yes, okay, fine, that's a step too far, but they're not good at football. Simeon Schlicher: And also bug like Purdue ha is good Purdue is competitive at basketball. Right? Indiana's competitive at basketball. These are other two Nebraska's a powerhouse and women's volleyball. We're not saying and Nebraska, you micaiah: Indiana's yeah. Per brid Rutgers isn't Yeah. What is Rutgers good at? Simeon Schlicher: no what is Rutgers good at? Probably like water polo or something weird. micaiah: A non money making sport. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, for real. Oklahoma State, by the way, takes on Murray State this Saturday, ESPN plus seven PM. micaiah: A better. Simeon Schlicher: SEC two and one. Yeah, that is a little better. Two and one against Big Ten schools this weekend. The other one being the Golden Gophers. I want to touch on this real quick. Thirteen rushing micaiah: yes. Mississi Simeon Schlicher: yards. micaiah: Yeah, Miss Minnesota had thirteen rushing yards. They and seven of those came on the final carry of the game. So really they had six rushing yards. It I took Mississippi State to win because it they're their better offense. But talk about kind of a stalled out program. That would be the Minnesota Golden Golden Gophers, but Kamario Taylor, the quarterback for Mississippi State. He's a dude now. He is big and he is built. And he has a rocket arm and he he he can use his legs a little bit. apparently everyone said that as a freshman he was better than Dak Prescott. Pete Samel ha said that on Saturday. And you know, they kind of worked him in with goal line packages and you know, on you know, down inside the red zone and quarterback run game packages last year. But now he has the full keys to the offense and boy he i he's young but he is talented and Jeff Levy has that offen that kinda Josh Hypo widespread tempo offense rolling down there in Starkville and they're gonna get somebody. That offense is good enough to get somebody this year that they play. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I'm looking I was trying to look at there, I didn't pull it up. He's six four two thirty. micaiah: And dude, I d he he's tall and he's built. Yes. Simeon Schlicher: That is a that is a Mac truck in like the best way. So they have South they have South Carolina this week. Of course they're gonna take on it's the SEC. So here's their stretch, Makaiah. Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas. micaiah: They're getting somebody, I'm telling you, they're g Comario Taylor is going to get one w one if not more. Simeon Schlicher: gonna be fun with how Alabama looked. It might be them against Kentucky. jumping forward to this week, we got some good games. We'll save the spiciests for last. And if anyone who's a fan of the podcast knows, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Let's go over down down south, down to the land of the Longhorns and the I don't know, every mascot ever, the Cougars and the Red Raiders, Texas Tech, Houston. micaiah: Friday night, a game that the Texas Tech AD got upset that they put it on Friday night because he thought it would be a good game day opportunity potentially. Houston number twenty two in the country and Texas Tech number thirteen. Texas Tech last week struggled for two and a half or so quarters with with Oregon State. I well when Texas Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, did not look like a dominant le Yeah. micaiah: and Ohio State when I thought that game was over. Right. I flipped over to the Texas Tech Oregon game because it was fourteen thirteen and the Cy Hawkers. the this is kind of Texas Tech's first real test. We're gonna see exactly where Will Hammond is, but Connor Wegman and the Houston Cougars with Willie Fritz, I mean, there was a reason that I kicked them to represent the Big Twelve in in at the Big Twelve Championship game. I'd be one of those two teams. They put they hung seventy seven on Southern again, like say that what you will about Southern SES school. They hung thirty three on Oregon State. Oregon State State kind of messed around with them as well in a delayed game, but Willie Fritz has kind of got that turn this Houston program revved back up to where it was you know of eight, ten years ago now. And so this is their first big test. Texas Tech. this is their first big test of the season. I cannot wait to see how Will Hammond looks and how this Connor Wegman looks and just kinda big old f I hope that we get a thirty-five thirty game and it's big old fashioned Big Twelve football. Simeon Schlicher: Listen, I'm glad you said that. because Oregon State played both of these teams. Oregon State is and two because they lost to Texas Tech and w and the Houston Cougars. micaiah: In very similar in very similar results, it was thirty three twenty for Houston and thirty Simeon Schlicher: Yep. micaiah: five twenty four for Texas Tex. Simeon Schlicher: You beat me to it. Listen, it's gonna I I think you're right. It's gonna be a good game. Also, if you're a fan of college football, you wanna watch it all the time. We got a Thursday. I'm I'm waiting for the Mac to come back when we get them randomly on Wednesdays and sometimes Tuesdays for some reason. I don't know if we we have that now with how TV packages are. Syracuse Pittsburgh will be a good game if you just like watching college football. That's on Thursday. That's on Thursday. Also ten point spread just to give you like micaiah: for sure. Yeah. Pick got a win over UCF on Saturday in another weather delay. Weather's kind of impacted a lot of the games here for the through the first two weeks. Twelve to seven, final Simeon Schlicher: Not up. micaiah: score there. Simeon Schlicher: Not not up here. Well, there's a weird score, unlike what I said earlier. micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: Oregon does take on Portland State on Friday night. I missed that earlier. Miami micaiah: Yeah, that that Simeon Schlicher: takes on Wake Forest. Miami is a 20 point favorite. I don't think you have that on the pod here on the on the the production sheet. I I think we should take a moment to see is twenty-one against a Wake Forest team. Is that who went to overtime last week fair? This is an ACC game. This is a conference game for them. micaiah: Yeah, I I I I think Miami just puts up. I I'm not sure who can stop Miami. You're gonna have to be able to s to to trust your corners on the back end with Malachi Tony and the and the group of receivers that Miami has and just hope that your front seven can handle the offensive line in the running game because i it's pick your poison right now with Darien Mensa and Malachi Tony. I I think Miami scoring They they might score forty eight plus this entire season. I mean they got a good jump because they scored seventy seven on Fanyu, but yeah, it yes. I think that the I I think that the defense could give up thirty points and they'd still win by twenty four. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I'm really interested to see this game. I mean, granted, Wake Forest's team wins were against Purdue and and and Akron, and it took two overtimes for them to beat Purdue. micaiah: Hey, don't be hating on Purdue now. Come on. Simeon Schlicher: I I'm not. I'm just saying that I think I'm looking at a linebacker with twenty total tackles on Wake Forest in two games. Yeah. micaiah: He got his nose in there. Yeah. He got his nose in there. Simeon Schlicher: So I'm just saying I'm hoping I turn this game on at halftime and it's like 21 21 and I at least get a a fun quarter. Yeah. Will it end that way? micaiah: And and I'm saying it'll be it might be twenty one twenty one, but it's ending up forty five twenty one. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: You never know. You never know with these Friday night games. They're a little bit of fun. Let's jump over to Louisville SMU. two teams. Louisville struggled a little bit last week. Inconsistency, I think, is the way it name of the game. micaiah: How is this game on ESPN two? That's what I'm looking for. Simeon Schlicher: That th I I saw that earlier. How is this game on ESPN two? Spreads one and a half. This is in this is this is in Louisville. I had to look it up. Where do you think L and N Federal Credit Union would be just based off of the name? I don't know. Stadium, sorry. micaiah: isn't that in Louisville? Simeon Schlicher: It is. I'm just saying, like, I was like, I'll know the name by the name of the st I'll know where this is by the name of the stadium. I don't. Kevin Jennings, seven hundred yards so far, forty for fifty-two, incredibly consistent. However, he's inconsistently consistent for when I'm watching him play, but he's also the guy that you want leading your team. What is this, Makaiah? What am I looking at here? micaiah: The this is you want fun, Simeon. This is your game you gotta tune into. I th I don't know, do you got the over under there? I don't know what the over Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, fifty nine and a half. micaiah: I'm I would take the over. I think this game is like a thirty five thirty, kind of a thirty five, thirty two, thirty eight, thirty five, three point high scoring game. Both of these offenses between Jeff Brum and Lincoln Keenholds who can run and throw, very athletic, and then Kevin Jennings and Rhett Lashley. They can they can throw the ball as well as Kevin Jennings is very, very mo mobile as well. And then don't forget Isa Isaac Brown, who led the nation in yards per carry last year for Louisville, hasn't really broken out yet this year, but He's sleeping in the wings that, you know, if you forget about him, he'll take off on ya and he'll drop a hundred and fifty or so on ya in in one game. This is going to be a lot of points, and a lot of good p offensive play. I do expect the defense to be impactful as it is a football game and there are two sides of the ball, but I I think that we're gonna turn in and it's It's gonna be high scoring, but I think you're probably also gonna get like three to four turnovers total. Simeon Schlicher: It's gonna be a college football game. It's not gonna be like Ohio State where I'm w micaiah: It's gonna be it's gonna be excellent, yes. Simeon Schlicher: yeah, where I'm watching like professionals kind of run the ball here. We'll touch on that we'll touch on them a little bit more later. this one's interesting for me because it's a neutral site. West Virginia, Virginia. A little bit disrespectful in my opinion, that Virginia went had one or two losses last year and then almost won the conference championship and is now r only ranked twenty fifth. micaiah: Yeah, well I I'm not sure who Virginia's play like I know they played NC State, but then li yeah. Simeon Schlicher: they beat Norfolk Southern fifty nine to three and they beat NC State thirty eight four to eight. micaiah: So in the game against Norfolk State last week, again, so they ran for another two thirty-seven in week in week zero they ran for two fifty. And Bo Prabula only ran the ball twice against Norfolk State and kinda let the running backs take control there. So that's good, kinda kept him fresh there. Meanwhile, West Virginia, listen, Rich Rod has got the this program turnaround. They scored thirty-one against Coastal and then against U T Martin, they scored fifty-two. And Richrod really likes to run the ball. Last week against U U T Martin, three hundred and sixteen yards on the ground. Against Coastal Carolina, West Virginia, two hundred eighty one on the ground. I don't know what the over is in rushing yards. Both these teams want to ex establish the line of scrimmage on the offensive side of the ball and just road grade people. So you were going to see a lot of heavy boxes, seven eight man fronts. Yes, I know that got a got a smirk out of you. I I saw that as soon as I said it. But so which quarterback is going to be able to throw the ball down the field and connect with their wide receivers? Because if I'm the defensive coordinator, it's like fine. We know you're good at running. Prove prove to me that you are good at throwing the ball. So it's Michael Hawkins for West Virginia and Bo Perbula. Both transferred. Michael Hawkins was at Oklahoma last year, I believe. And then Bo was at Missouri. Which quarterback is and group of receivers are going to be able to win this game outside of the numbers? That's who's going to win this game, but a lot of rushing yards coming on Saturday for this game. Another great college Simeon Schlicher: Okay. micaiah: football game. Simeon Schlicher: Were you talking about West Virginia's? Quarterback, who did you say was the transfer? Sorry. micaiah: Michael Hawkins. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, no, he was at according to this, he was at West Virginia. micaiah: Michael Hawkins at West Virginia last year. Simeon Schlicher: no, Oklahoma. I'm sorry, you were right. micaiah: Okay. All right. I'm I I thought so, but you know, they can transfer so many times now. He could have been. Simeon Schlicher: I didn't I didn't click I didn't click on the right thing. before quick touch, Virginia Tech only getting three against Maryland. Just want to let you know that. micaiah: That that's that's actually very interesting. Vegas knows something, Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. micaiah: everybody. Simeon Schlicher: Vegas knows something. Vegas also knows something at two and a half. Auburn, Florida. Florida coming off of a sixty six and fifty two point they put that's the numbers of that they put up against Florida Atlantic and Camel. It's not Camel, they're the Camels. I forgot the Campbell fighting camels. It's not confusing at all. Anyway. Yeah. micaiah: Two first year head coaches, bud. This is John Summerall, and this is Alec Golish. And Florida's looked really good with Jaden Ball, I believe. His last name's Ball. I just don't know whether his first name is is Jaden or not. Simeon Schlicher: Th yes, Jade and Ball. Yeah. micaiah: So Florida's kind of establishing a team identity with John Summerall where they want to be physical, they want to ground and pound and take care of the football. play good defense. And then Auburn against Baylor, not great. Three interceptions for their quarterback. Couldn't run anything. But then last week they got a little something more something going against Southern Miss here. now you can't go off of stats alone, but they did run for three forty three, which is a marked improvement from what you saw. At least coming because they ran the ball fifty one times. They were not trying to run that much again Baylor. And then Byron Brown, no no turnovers. His QBR was seventy eight. Who's gonna turn the ball over less on Saturday? I'm gonna Simeon Schlicher: Defensive game. micaiah: I I'm gonna guess that it's gonna be the Florida quarterback who, if I'm being totally honest, I don't even know who plays quarterback for the University of Florida. Simeon Schlicher: Aaron, Philo or Philo? I'm assuming Philo. micaiah: Okay. So Aaron Aaron Philo I couldn't have even told you that by the way. So so that's how that that's where that's Simeon Schlicher: I had to pull it off. That's the only reason I knew. micaiah: where I'm at. But Aaron, like, I'm just gonna guess that Florida's defense is gonna force Byron Brown in into some interceptions. Now this is at home. This is on the planes for Auburn. So hopefully, you know, for their offense, it's a little easier for them to communicate than in the swamp. But two kind of younger teams or players, for in Auburn's case, that have been there but not on these big stages now are gonna have to be put into these environments consistently. And then John Sumerall, and there's just something about John Summerall that I really like and how he has formed the identity of this Florida program. So Simeon Schlicher: It's the same micaiah: this is going to be a I I think this is gonna be a slosh. Fest twenty seventeen type Simeon Schlicher: Mind you, I I micaiah: game. Simeon Schlicher: Okay. before we get to the bread and butter, Simeon said, I really like I really like JMU hiring. I don't even remember his name at this point because my that's where my brain's at. Because why? Because he's the same coach. Florida hired the same guy. Literally a dude, small school, proved himself, moved to Florida, didn't do well at Florida. In this case, he's and he's two and against bottom feeder teams with SEC talent. So you go and hire him back to where he was successful. And what did he go do? Week two against some nobody. Put up seventy-seven points. Eighty-three points I was six. I gave micaiah: Eighty three. Even better. Simeon Schlicher: I did it like that that takes looking real good for me right now. It's all I'm saying. What is his name? Why can I not what is the head coach of SMU? Not SMU, JMU. Billy Napier. Looking micaiah: Billy Napier. Billy Napier. You're you're having a rough time of it. Simeon Schlicher: Looking real listen, I ha I apparently used all my mojo on week one. So Here we are. Listen, LSU, old miss. You knew it was coming. Trinidad Tramblis looking like he didn't lose it. LSU, unfortunately. Lane Kiffin's being Lane Kiffin and is a really good offensive design specialist. This game's micaiah: LS you Simeon Schlicher: at three. Three spread. micaiah: Yeah, so it is the night game. Game day's gonna be there. LSU kind of messed around with LaTeX. Now you come to find out that Sam Levitt had three interceptions, so that'll do it, and that'll keep the game close. And then as soon as they started running the ball in the second half, LSU took the game over. Old miss is kind of what they were last year, which is there they want to run the ball really well with Keywan Lacey and the stable backs, and then they want to let Trinidad kind of throw that pig skin around and spin it real good and Trinidad's been excellent. This is gonna come down to the defensive side of the ball and special teams. At Old Miss has a kicker in Cardero, I believe his last name is, and he is a killer from fifty yards plus. But the defense, L I I I think I'm still not a believer in old misses defense. I still think it is too turnover reliant. So if they're not getting turnovers, they're not gonna be able to get stops. And I just think Lane Kiffin's gonna be fired up and the fans will be fired up. I hope that there are no n no objects thrown on the field or thrown at Lane Kiffin. Lane Kiffin might have to wear a bulletproof vest. We don't know, but this is gonna be Simeon Schlicher: It would micaiah: I I think at least in the first half the hype for the game Simeon Schlicher: would be good if he did. He should. And I'm micaiah: is gonna be too much for the results on the field. Simeon Schlicher: A hundred percent. And the reason I'm saying he should wear a bulletproof vest is because he's good at trash talking. So if he is good at trash talking, like he's a character. Lane Kiffin is a character. If he wants to keep doing this heel thing that he's clearly accepted, he should wear a bulletproof vest. I'm not saying do not have violence against Lane Kiffin. It's more micaiah: Yes, yes. Simeon Schlicher: for the optics of the situation. We love to hate him, is my point that I am trying to make. That game is, of course, the seven thirty game. I didn't get to do my ADHD thing, which is look here at some of the interesting games that are out out there. Alabama takes on Florida State. If I'm remembering correctly, Florida State upset them like two or three years ago, something like that. micaiah: Yeah, this is gonna I I don't think this game is close. I this is not an upset game. This is Alabama looking for revenge. Simeon Schlicher: no. We're questioning Mike Norvell's job after this. micaiah: It so funny story. Funny you should actually bring that up. Florida State actually fired their athletic director. So you know what that means. Simeon Schlicher: No? micaiah: Well, they fired the athletic director that hired Mike Norvell and gave him the contract extension. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: no protection. micaiah: So there there we go. Right? It's like a it's like Simeon Schlicher: Dada. micaiah: when a NFL team gets a new GM that didn't draft a quarterback. You can bet in about two seasons that quarterbacks are on it's not even gonna it's the end of the season. Simeon Schlicher: It's it's why the Miami Dolphins have a hundred and thirty some or fifty some million dollars in dead cap right now. micaiah: I would be very surprised if this game is a one possession game at halftime. I think that this is an Alabama ran what's the spread on it? Do you have that? Simeon Schlicher: Mm, if I scroll back over to my other thing and hit Al Alabama, that's South Alabama. Go polar bears or whatever they are. It is nineteen and a half. micaiah: Yeah. I I I think that this is twenty twenty four sorta sort of deal and I I think it's a ten point ten to fourteen point game at halftime. Simeon Schlicher: Ooh, ooh, possible upset alert. Southern Illinois taking on Illinois. Two PM on Peacock. Southern Illinois ranked. That's the only reason I bring that up. No. They're not. No, you don't you don't think that's a possible upset? FCS upset? micaiah: You mean Southern Illinois ranked in the FCS? Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Twenty second. Man. micaiah: I'm still gonna go Illinois closer, but it's still Illinois. At what point do you think Simeon Schlicher: I would like to micaiah: FBS teams stop scheduling FCS teams because they're like they're no longer free wins, right? Like they're hard game like it used to be Simeon Schlicher: Right, especially with people looking micaiah: it used to be like fifty point wins. Simeon Schlicher: Well, we say that, but Campbell got blown out by whoever the frick we were just talking about. micaiah: No, I'm talking the high level FCS schools, like the South Dakota States, the s the Southern Illinois, did you say? Right, Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, yeah. micaiah: like when you stop scheduling good FCS Simeon Schlicher: Here's micaiah: teams. Simeon Schlicher: here's my question is is a good is a good team FCS win better than a conference win? If Michigan beats North Dakota, who's still in, or Montana State, right, top ten FCS school, micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: is that better than a win against Purdue? micaiah: No. Simeon Schlicher: Or Rutgers. micaiah: no, it might be. It might be. Simeon Schlicher: See? So there is the option where they might be scheduling them because they'll get better competition than a conference game, and it's a strength to schedule thing. I think I think the media specifically is starting to respect an FCS win against a competitive FCS school. See Northwestern's win against South Dakota State as example. micaiah: Yeah, but it it's it's it's a lose lose, right? So so if so so so for example so for Simeon Schlicher: Yes and no. I gr I I see what you're saying, but I also disagree with the idea of I think you still can schedule it because it's a better it's better than playing gimme bottom feeder p Clemson right now. It's better than playing Clemson at the beginning of the season. micaiah: So right, but it's like it's you know, okay, so say Michigan barely beat Western Michigan, right? Needed a bailout Hailmere to get So Simeon Schlicher: Right. Right. Yeah. micaiah: Western Michigan go goes on to win the Mac. Okay, Michigan, yay, you beat Western Michigan. You still should have beat Western Michigan. Michigan or Western Michigan then only wins hyperbole three games the rest of the year. well, Michigan, you suck. Right? Because you could barely beat Western Michigan. So it's Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Yeah. micaiah: a lose lose for the big school. However, I do think you have a point where the media and the football college football media specifically are starting to put a little more respect on the FCS. And remember, there is a trickle-down effect from this whole transfer portal on IL thing. Like Simeon Schlicher: Mm-hmm. micaiah: the top players no longer stay at the top. They want playing time. They don't stay at Alabama for three or four or five years. They're gonna go somewhere else, which is then gonna move another kid down, which is then down, down, down. So now instead of having a kid wait two years to play at Rutgers, you might have him starting in FCS. And so their FBS level talent now at high end FCS. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Notre Dame is twenty nine point favorites against Michigan State. I don't know what Michigan State has done. micaiah: It's it's Notre Dame is a runaway train. The only thing stopping Notre Dame is Notre Dame itself. I I don't think anyone's getting in their way until Miami. Simeon Schlicher: if you were gonna pick a game to stream on Disney Plus, what are the two teams you would pick? Just gut reaction. micaiah: the two teams I would pick. Simeon Schlicher: Yep, just gut reaction. I'm streaming this on Disney Plus. Think of it like a Nickelode I doubt this is where the case is, but think of it like a Nickelodeon thing. It's streaming on Disney Plus. What are the two themes I'm picking? micaiah: I'm picking the two top brands in college football, or two of the top brands of college football. Simeon Schlicher: Awesome. So you think North Carolina Tar Heels and the Clemson Tigers? Well I'm look I'm just looking micaiah: Yeah yeah, not that. Yes. You are not that. You are correct. Simeon Schlicher: for the schedules for like that kind of like what are the other interesting games out here? micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: And this is the one that popped out to me just because yeah, it's it's on streaming on Disney Plus. Belcheck is too no. micaiah: listen, Belichick's two and he beats Dabo. Dabo's one and two. Now Belichick's three and Maybe a little bit of momentum down there in w Chapel Hill. That that's the word I'm looking for. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: Chapel Hill. There you go. We got there. Delaware takes on Costa Carolina. Played Vanderbilt very well. micaiah: Yeah, Vanderbilt's not as good. Ro Robert, shout out Simeon Schlicher: Mm-mm. micaiah: to Robert. He was right with this one. Vanderbilt's not as good as I thought that maybe I thought they hit a little momentum there with Diego Pavia, and so far not the case in twenty twenty six. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, they got that they maybe next year they got that first overall QB guy that they flipped or that five star whatever. So micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: maybe reminder Nick Minucci is on the Blue Hens for Delaware. Also, maybe Tulane, Kansas State, but not really. So let's let's go ahead and jump into our fun times of the topic. Let's go ahead and start with Robert's ranking. Makiah, you kinda already had this. This is his playoff ranking, which I like. Texas at one. Oklahoma State sorry, Ohio State, not Oklahoma State at two. Just put Oklahoma State micaiah: Just put Oklahoma State in there. They deserve it. Simeon Schlicher: in there. Miami at three, Georgia at four, Notre Dame at five, Texas Tech at six, Indiana at seven, LSU at eight, Old Miss at nine, Texas AM at ten, Alabama at eleven, and he has Boise State as the group of five, the group of six, sorry, guy jumping in there. micaiah: A and kind of impressive win on Saturday. Yeah, that game was close in the first half and then they like I looked up, I was like, Wow Simeon Schlicher: They really haven't micaiah: and then they just railroaded Oklahoma or Arizona State second half, yeah. Simeon Schlicher: They really haven't missed a beat. They're they're kind of being qu we're kind of being mum about Tam You. They've micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: been they've been I mean, that's what they are. They've been keeping up with what they need to, which is probably Mike Elko's probably happy. We really need to feed this into AI and keep track of it so we know what's going up, what's going down. Robert's not here to give us an update on the mostly college football team. So we'll get back about that on next week. Mickayah, under under funny names, why is Camario Taylor here? micaiah: I don't know, Robert, I think it's the Camario. Robert really had Yeah. Yeah. I think there's some Simeon Schlicher: It it's Mario but with a ca. Okay. Okay. micaiah: sort of internet thing going on about that right now. Robert had me put it in there. Taz Nimrod, that what that one's pretty good. Yeah. Booby Feaster's excellent. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: That's good. And Booby Feaster is also good. Sounds like he's foosting on some boobies. Yeah, I get it. I get it. Robert did did us a solid and he already found this. Highest is he at the time, these were the games, was LSU Old Miss. No duh, 513. I think it's set I think I see one for 440 now at this point. which is good which is good. and then the lowest game, Boston College versus Maine. also good. Ten dollars. Probably gonna be a win for Boston College if you wanna do that. micaiah: I'm actually surprised that tickets are that expensive for Boston College meeting. Yeah. I thought they would be lower. Simeon Schlicher: Ten bucks. Yeah. Yeah, probably it's probably because they're yeah, it's probably because their team's okay in the beginning of the season, so they're still hype. So more students are probably showing up. I don't know. It could be the way that it is. Another way that it is is your couch is old and you need a new one. Especially if you're gonna be watching college football. We are very happy to have kindred couches be the official game of the week, games of the week sponsor here at Mostly college football. You need a couch. You need a comfy couch. You're either having friends or you're not. You're taking naps or you're not. You're watching all games or you're playing with your kids. You need a couch. You need to get one at Kindred Couches. if you use the promo code JT with short. My idea, by the way, screw you, Ohio State. You'll get $150 micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: off any order of $1,500, excluding taxes and delivery, terms and pi conditions apply. Of course, shop in store. or online at kindredcouches.com. Again, use the promo code JT was short for fifty dollars $150 off hundred fifteen hundred dollars. Micaiah, my picks aren't looking too great. But then again, we're only off by one, and that's because I wanted to screw over Lane Kiffin and did not take in the win week one against Clemson. So much like Michigan who's one and one right now, you could look at me at 11 and 62, you know? micaiah: Yeah, yeah, you know, you are right there. You know, we're we're not that far off the pace, only two and three games back from Robert. All it takes is a you know just a bad slip up. He's bound to have a bad week eventually. He's bad to have a boun bad week and we're bound to get lucky once in a while. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I'm not I'm not a hundred percent sure. We're gonna start here with Houston, Texas Tech. Who you taking? micaiah: so Robert is taking Texas Tech. Simeon Schlicher: I was gonna get there. micaiah: that that's okay. my bad then. And I'm also I'm I'm gonna take Texas Tech as well. They they're at home and I think the home environment is the difference in the game. I think Houston is still just a a year away and in the trenches, that is where Texas Tech is better than most every team in the Big Twelve. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I really want to take Houston here, like badly. I just think they're not there yet. If they want to get there, this would be a great a great win for them if they could be to Texas Tech. But I agree with you. We're we're we're all taking Texas Tech. We got UNC Clemson touched on them a tad little bit. Can Dabo be trusted? micaiah: It where this game is at Clemson, right? Simeon Schlicher: Yeah. Hm yes. Yes. micaiah: I really want to take Belichick in a worse way. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna take Bill Belichick and UNC. I'll I will probably regret it, but I just I I I think Clemson's broken. I really do. I don't see much of anything that I like and I really kinda like the D line effort that UNC plays with and they're just I I don't Bill Belichick still knows how to coach defensive football. And Clemson's just really struggling on offense. So so give me the tar heels over the Tagas. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I I the the strategy if we don't want Robert to run away with this would be me picking Clemson so that one of us, you know, would stay with him. But I am micaiah: Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You follow closely. Simeon Schlicher: I am a hundred percent with you. after the how last season ended, how am I supposed to trust that you're actually gonna be able to be the team you're supposed to be able to be? You lost badly. If you lost a little bit to LSU, okay. Like if it was thirty four thirty five sort of situation. Yeah. But no, not against that. Robert is Robert is taking Clemson, for those of you keeping track. He does not believe in the Bill Belichick hype. It's more of a the dis the loss of trust in in Dabo Sweeney that Makai and I are having here. SMU Louisville. micaiah: Give me I I like Jeff Braum and Lincoln Keenholz being able to move the pocket and scramble. I don't like Kevin Jennings being on the road. He already turned the ball over. you know, he turned the ball over three times at Florida State. A high scoring game. I just like the Cardinal at home for this game, and Jeff Braum to get a signature win at Louisville. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I I don't hate it. but for all these same reasons, you think they're gonna clean it up eventually. I don't know. Robert Zarles is taking Louisville. I'm taking SMU. I SMU has that program micaiah: It's not it's a pick game. Simeon Schlicher: that sh d it's this year. So eventually they're gonna have to figure it out. And I feel like it's this year for them. I don't know why it's a gut feeling. I'm probably gonna lose that one. But that is what it is. Florida, Auburn. micaiah: I I kind of alluded to this in you know talking and previewing the game. I just like John Summerall and the identity of this team with Jaden Ball and running the football and being physical. I know it's on the road. with a quarterback at least I've never heard of before, so w whether or not he's a first year starter or what, but give me the Florida defense to get Byron Brown into a few turnovers and then Jaden Ball just running downhill. Give me the gayers. And this will kind of make this Florida fan base very optimistic in a win overall. Simeon Schlicher: Yeah, I I we have to remember that Alec Alex Ghosh, I believe is how you pronounce his last name. His big thing was winning Goalish was winning big games. Yes, he brought in a lot of the F SFU the USF people, but like his big thing was winning big games. And if there's one thing you have to do at Auburn, it's the s it's like the same vibe. So I'm gonna go Auburn. Robert's taking Florida. This is not looking great for me. This is how it kind of started. I started off hot last year and then just immediately nosedived. So I'm not liking this, but you know, I'll be right one of these weeks. sneaky game, I don't know how I miss this game. In my little games you should also pay attention to segment. micaiah: Colorado Northwestern. Simeon Schlicher: Colorado Northwestern. This is I look at I look at that first week against South against South Dakota State as a warm-up game. Like it's kind of like a soft opening. Northwestern has a soft opening. To me, this is their first. Assuming I I'm assuming this is their n Northwestern medical field at Martin Stadium. That is their new stadium. Big game. They're this is their second game of the season. Yeah. confirming, confirming, confirming. Yes, this is their No, this micaiah: I I think there Simeon Schlicher: is this this is not. This is still in their soccer stadium. micaiah: okay. I thought that they were back in their new stadium this year. Simeon Schlicher: I thought that they were back in the I thought they were back in their stadium too this year. micaiah: I'll look it up. You can go ahead and talk. Simeon Schlicher: No, Martin Stadium, Northwestern Medical Field of Martin Stadium is the s is the sport is the soccer field and lacrosse field. micaiah: Okay. Simeon Schlicher: So I don't know why, but apparently we're not at their home stadium yet. I don't know why. I'll look it up here in a second. It's a home it's a home game. Okay, it's less. Gimme Colorado. I don't believe in them anymore. micaiah: i their first game at newly built Ryan Field will be October second, hosting Penn State Nickney Lions. Simeon Schlicher: That you could beat Colorado if you hosted this in your new stadium. micaiah: Wha why why I don't know. give me actually Northwestern. I big believer in Chip Kelly, big believer in their head coach Braun and that defensive identity. They're gonna fight really hard. I know that people had they saw Colorado push Georgia Tech around. I'm not sold that Georgia Tech's all that good up front. I'm not sold that Colorado's all that good up front. All I know is Chip Kelly's gonna find a way to put twenty eight points on the board on Saturday night, and I'm not sure Colorado can keep up. So give me North Western. Simeon Schlicher: You know, I don't wanna be the guy who picks opposite all the time, so I'm giv picking Northwestern too. Robert's picking Colorado as well. Okay. The game. micaiah: Ha ha nerd. Simeon Schlicher: The game. I did change my score, so put an asterisk on it. The game that we care about. That everyone cares about. It's gonna be what everyone talks about one way or another. It is the LSU Tagus versus the old Miss Fighting Rebs, I think is what they are technically. micaiah: Running rebs, I think. No, that's UNLV. Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: No, that's UNLV. I think it's the fighting rebs. micaiah: I think it's just the rebels, but that's okay. Simeon Schlicher: It is little racist. Fun powder blue, fun blue, against that yellow and purple. micaiah: Did you see Kansas and Missouri got in did you see Kansas and Missouri got into it over Simeon Schlicher: You clearly didn't listen to my twelve minute mini so that I watched 'cause I brought it up. micaiah: I I I and I fe and I feel like you didn't give enough time for that. I feel like that was a lot funnier and you should have dived dived in deeper into that. You know that I got thirty four million views on Twitter X, whatever it's called now. That video that pre prirty Simeon Schlicher: No no. you know, racial things not not like micaiah: four million views on X. Simeon Schlicher: Listen, we can't all be winners and Kansas was not the winner last week. micaiah: They got dominated. Anyway. Simeon Schlicher: see here's the issue is I took Lane I took Clemson out of spite because 'cause cl because Lane Kiffin is the heel. micaiah: Uhhuh. And and now you just want to do that too, just like Robert's doing. Simeon Schlicher: Just like Robert's doing. micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: for the record, Robert says, old miss, fuck Lane Kiffin. micaiah: Yeah. Simeon Schlicher: I just I yeah, Trinidad Trambl really good. He's just Lane Kiffen is annoyingly better. Gimme gimme the Tigers in a close one. I think this is gonna be thirty one thirty four sort of situation or twenty one eighteen three point game. micaiah: So Lane Kiffen, when facing his former team, teams is one and So he has a winning record against his former team. When he was the head coach at Ole Miss, he went back to Knoxville, Tennessee. They won that game. That was in 2021. Other than that, he hasn't faced USC, he hasn't placed faced Florida Atlantic. so he is one and He is a great ball coach. Him and Charlie Weiss Jr. got the hide mind going. This is going to be a loud and rowdy environment. There is going to be lots of drinking. Hopefully, there will be no violence either thrown or projectile of any sort towards Lane Kiffin, even though it is going to be very, very hostile. I think it is going to be so hostile that the Fan base and Ole Miss are worked up only. By the way, this is the same offense. Lane Kiffin knows Trinidad very well. Weaknesses, he will use that to his advantage in telling Blake Baker some secrets about that. I think LSU has the better athletes on defense. I think Lane Kiffin also knows Pete Golding, who calls plays for the Old Miss Rebels on defense. The head coach calls plays. For Ole Miss on defense. Lane knows how to attack that defense very well because he did it in practice. I think, unfortunately, this is an LSU win, and this is an LSU 14 to 20 point win. I think Lane goes in there and it is maybe a 10-point game with four minutes to go, and Lane sticks it to him one more time to say, I told you so, sort of deal. So give me. the tagas of the LSU. Wash your hands, you filthy animals. That'll do it for us. Mostly college football. Simeon Schlicher: Guys, we'll see you next week. Look out for the reaction pod Sunday afternoon ish. We love ya.
