- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:22Speaker 2: At least it's not snow for us.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, well, heil and that's pretty close.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 4: I couldn't even take the dog out this morning.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Phones are still down, Matt sprung on me today. I
- 0:31Speaker 2: need another new piece of equipment to make it work.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Is it a telephone?
- 0:35Speaker 5: The AVP and Ben McAdoo part frightens the crap out.
- 0:38Speaker 2: But I'm not willing to point at that and say, see, see,
- 0:42Speaker 2: it's not gonna work.
- 0:42Speaker 5: I didn't say that. You just put words in my
- 0:45Speaker 5: mouth that I didn't say.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's just gonna be a disaster then, I mean.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I understand what he's saying.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Fine, he's filled his our's juice.
- 0:51Speaker 2: That's it.
- 0:52Speaker 5: We'll just pretend everything's great.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's a sign of what's to come.
- 0:55Speaker 5: We'll pretend everything is the Lego movie. Well, everything is awesome.
- 0:59Speaker 5: The coaches' ready to teach.
- 1:01Speaker 2: But why like what it like? Evan said, there might
- 1:04Speaker 2: be a legitimate reason for that, Not because they're all incompetent,
- 1:08Speaker 2: which is what you're thinking, and admit that. Admit that absolutely. Okay.
- 1:12Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:15Speaker 6: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:17Speaker 2: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:22Speaker 2: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Jillette Stadium,
- 1:28Speaker 2: and the players are here, a lot of players. Obviously
- 1:32Speaker 2: no rookies because we don't have any yet, but we
- 1:35Speaker 2: saw a lot of familiar faces come into the building yesterday.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Matt Judon and Bailey Zappi and a new one, Jacoby Brissette,
- 1:45Speaker 2: all here working out doing the first week of OTA.
- 1:48Speaker 2: So it's good to see that getting closer, right.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Getting closer to well, yeah, you're getting closer to the
- 1:57Speaker 5: draft too, Yeah, which I am really looking forward to.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I'm very excited.
- 2:01Speaker 5: About that draft.
- 2:02Speaker 4: I was gonna say, you're looking forward to the draft,
- 2:04Speaker 4: you're looking forward to being done with.
- 2:05Speaker 5: The Yeah, it's Evan, it's fall.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's me do so to be here. He's doing some
- 2:09Speaker 2: reporting duties. But as soon as he gets done with that,
- 2:13Speaker 2: he'll he'll he'll come on in. So what do we
- 2:15Speaker 2: got We got a signing?
- 2:17Speaker 5: Yeah, Kyle Duggar extension.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, were you surprised that he's not gonna end up
- 2:22Speaker 2: playing under the transition tag a little bit? Yeah?
- 2:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I I'm not sure if I'm surprised,
- 2:29Speaker 5: but I think it's a good move to extend him.
- 2:33Speaker 5: But I was a little sort of not really understanding
- 2:38Speaker 5: the whole transition tag thing, you know, why they did it.
- 2:41Speaker 5: I understand obviously what the transition tag is, contrary to
- 2:44Speaker 5: what some people think. I didn't really understand like why
- 2:49Speaker 5: you would go out of your way to try to
- 2:51Speaker 5: sort of, you know, upset him potentially. And there were
- 2:56Speaker 5: some reports, Evan, you said, you know when we were
- 2:58Speaker 5: talking earlier off here.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Andrew Callahan had been reporting that he was disgruntled,
- 3:04Speaker 4: not happy. I don't know exactly the words that he used,
- 3:06Speaker 4: but the same thing.
- 3:08Speaker 5: So if you kind of planned on extending him, which
- 3:10Speaker 5: clearly they did, because you know, it's done. You know,
- 3:14Speaker 5: even now, before OTAs even started, they got it done.
- 3:17Speaker 5: And I'm kind of confused as to why they did
- 3:19Speaker 5: in the first place, but who cares, you know, they
- 3:21Speaker 5: got to the place that I think we're all happy.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think their strategy, I mean, obviously they were
- 3:25Speaker 2: looking for leverage. They didn't want to commit to the
- 3:27Speaker 2: franchise tag because that could backfire, and I think they
- 3:30Speaker 2: thought it compromise there for their part would be, you know,
- 3:35Speaker 2: the transition tag, and you do run the risk of
- 3:38Speaker 2: having a disgruntled player. But they took that risk and
- 3:42Speaker 2: it worked out.
- 3:43Speaker 5: But then they kind of gave him franchise tag money. Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 5: which that's why I'm saying, I'm kind of confused as
- 3:49Speaker 5: to why. But again, who cares because we got to
- 3:52Speaker 5: where we wanted to get to.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Yep. So he's uh, he's I think.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I mean some people might not. I know we had
- 3:57Speaker 5: we had at least one in the mail back this
- 4:00Speaker 5: week didn't understand it now, And I'm not like, I
- 4:04Speaker 5: think people can look at the same player and have
- 4:07Speaker 5: different views. So I'm not telling you he's wrong. I'm
- 4:09Speaker 5: just there was some dissension in the mail bag. Well
- 4:12Speaker 5: listen about the amount of money they gave him. I
- 4:14Speaker 5: didn't look at it as being out of whack at all.
- 4:16Speaker 2: We should we should look at like, you know what
- 4:18Speaker 2: we're hearing. We should talk about it. I'm seeing people
- 4:21Speaker 2: say they were a four and thirteen team and they're
- 4:24Speaker 2: re signing guys who are on a foreign thirteen team,
- 4:27Speaker 2: So how does that make you better? But that's not
- 4:30Speaker 2: looking at why were they a foreign thirteen team. It
- 4:33Speaker 2: wasn't because of Kyle Duggar. It wasn't because you know
- 4:36Speaker 2: these guys that they're resigning. It was because of the offense,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and it was because of the quarterback situation and in
- 4:43Speaker 2: all of that, And yes they haven't addressed that yet.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I get it. But these you know, re signing Kyle Duggar,
- 4:49Speaker 2: I think doesn't make you worse. And at the end
- 4:53Speaker 2: of the day, keeps guys here that you know what
- 4:56Speaker 2: they can do, you know what to expect from them,
- 4:58Speaker 2: and you can talk about the money four years from now,
- 5:03Speaker 2: it'll be a good deal, you know.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah, two years. I was a little surprised to buy
- 5:08Speaker 4: the money when we first saw it, to be honest
- 5:11Speaker 4: with you, just because I think it's a coverage league
- 5:13Speaker 4: on that side of the ball, and I think that
- 5:15Speaker 4: he's got some morts when he plays in coverage. But
- 5:19Speaker 4: that being said, I just look at it as like
- 5:22Speaker 4: a domino effect of Okay, well, now if you went
- 5:24Speaker 4: into free agency and you didn't bring back Kyle Duggar
- 5:27Speaker 4: and you didn't bring back Mike on Winne and you
- 5:28Speaker 4: didn't bring back Hunter Henry and Anthony Jennings and some
- 5:31Speaker 4: of these guys. The holes that that then creates on
- 5:34Speaker 4: the roster where they already have a ton of things
- 5:36Speaker 4: that they need to address in the draft offensively. So
- 5:39Speaker 4: I think what this allowed them to do is continue
- 5:41Speaker 4: forward with the quarterback, receiver tackle draft. And if they
- 5:45Speaker 4: had opened up all these other holes on the roster,
- 5:49Speaker 4: now you're even further away than when you started. So
- 5:52Speaker 4: in some ways, I thought initially, you know, it's I
- 5:56Speaker 4: think the sixth most average annual salary of any safety
- 6:00Speaker 4: the league, and that always fluctuates and changes. I am
- 6:03Speaker 4: glad that it was below Jesse Bates's number, because I
- 6:05Speaker 4: think Jesse Bates a better player than Kyle Dugger is
- 6:07Speaker 4: right now. But in general I thought that, you know,
- 6:11Speaker 4: you have to bring some of these foundational players back,
- 6:13Speaker 4: otherwise you're just creating more holes of her team that
- 6:16Speaker 4: has If.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You look at last year, at the end of the season,
- 6:19Speaker 2: you say, Okay, in order to take a step forward,
- 6:22Speaker 2: what do the Patriots need to do? And one of
- 6:25Speaker 2: the answers isn't replace Kyle Dugger, replace Mike And when
- 6:28Speaker 2: you replace Hunter Henry. You know, it was other things.
- 6:31Speaker 2: And so, like you said, I think at least you're
- 6:34Speaker 2: keeping in that word foundation. People like to quibble with that, Oh,
- 6:38Speaker 2: foundation players are you know, you know, better than a
- 6:43Speaker 2: Kyle Dugger. I know.
- 6:44Speaker 5: And that's why I like this move. I do think
- 6:46Speaker 5: he's a foundation player. He's part of nucleus.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But it depends on how the foundation.
- 6:50Speaker 5: For like, because I've heard a lot of this, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 5: people being very defensive of the criticism that the criticism.
- 6:58Speaker 5: You're right, friend, I've heard a little bit of like
- 7:00Speaker 5: they're just running it back with a four and thirteen roster,
- 7:03Speaker 5: and people have been very defensive about that, like, well,
- 7:06Speaker 5: the defense wasn't the problem. Well, no kidding, and we
- 7:09Speaker 5: all know what the problem was. The problem was offense, right,
- 7:12Speaker 5: So instead of devoting all your resources to retaining the defense,
- 7:17Speaker 5: you needed to devote some of those resources to adding
- 7:20Speaker 5: to the offense.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Okay, So here's where I will quibble with you. You said,
- 7:25Speaker 2: instead of devoting all your resources, I don't believe they're
- 7:28Speaker 2: devoting all the resources to that. I think there's plenty
- 7:31Speaker 2: of resources to go around, and I think they're just
- 7:34Speaker 2: you know, you know, solidifying what they already had in
- 7:38Speaker 2: order to you know, to address the others.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Now, you know, like I'm just talking about free agency,
- 7:42Speaker 5: I'm not talking about everything else. In free agency. They've
- 7:45Speaker 5: devoted very little to offense and almost entirely to defense,
- 7:48Speaker 5: to a defense that everybody thinks is already great.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Unless you do unless you include Henry and when you
- 7:53Speaker 2: as Born and Kendrick Bourne, I don't.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Yes, they were all healized.
- 7:58Speaker 2: So in other words, they really haven't upgraded defense yet.
- 8:01Speaker 2: That that's there's no doubt, No, there's no doubt.
- 8:03Speaker 4: But they also are changing the quarterback.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Well, well, I mean, we hope they're gonna upgrade.
- 8:09Speaker 4: I have a good feeling that they're changing the quarterback.
- 8:11Speaker 5: I'm going to guess that they're gonna pick somebody with
- 8:13Speaker 5: a third pick and we'll see. Yeah, I haven't upgraded yet.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I wouldn't say upgrade, but they're changing. Yeah, you know,
- 8:20Speaker 5: it's gonna And I think that people that'd say, well,
- 8:22Speaker 5: they're bringing the same team back, they're changing the quarterback
- 8:25Speaker 5: like that's the literally the biggest player on the entire team.
- 8:28Speaker 5: So even though they might not have they didn't get
- 8:30Speaker 5: Calvin Ridley, like we We've been over that, but they
- 8:34Speaker 5: he can't say that they're bringing the entire team back
- 8:36Speaker 5: when the starting quarterback is going to be somebody different.
- 8:39Speaker 2: There's there's a foundational change that they're a structural change
- 8:44Speaker 2: that they're making, and you know, but they there's still
- 8:47Speaker 2: the whispers of trading back. And if that happens, could
- 8:51Speaker 2: we be seeing a season with Jakobe Brissett.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Possibly, Well, I think you have a good chance of
- 8:56Speaker 5: seeing the season with Jacoby Brissett.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Regardless, even if you pick up the third Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Now, I would hope it's not the whole season. I
- 9:02Speaker 5: would hope that after you know, a month, month and
- 9:05Speaker 5: a half, they integrate whoever they pick, if assuming they
- 9:08Speaker 5: pick somebody with the third pick, yep.
- 9:10Speaker 2: The other thing I'm hearing a lot is, you know,
- 9:13Speaker 2: I call him the Bill Bots. You know, these are
- 9:15Speaker 2: the people who are you know, livid that they get
- 9:19Speaker 2: rid of him and look at any little thing they
- 9:22Speaker 2: can do to defend him, which is fine, but now it's, oh,
- 9:26Speaker 2: the signing all these guys that Bill drafted. You know,
- 9:29Speaker 2: I guess he wasn't that bad a draft or after all,
- 9:31Speaker 2: you know, and so.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Draft four they did resign four guys from the twenty
- 9:36Speaker 5: twenty draft class, which I still don't think was an
- 9:38Speaker 5: overly strong class.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Well, I mean maybe it was a little better than
- 9:42Speaker 2: we thought.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Why because they resigned him all Yeah, because they think that.
- 9:46Speaker 5: But so if they let him all go, it would
- 9:48Speaker 5: be a bad draft. But they resigned him also it
- 9:49Speaker 5: was a good draft.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Well, that's what we've been saying over the years is
- 9:52Speaker 2: if you don't re sign, how many of the people
- 9:54Speaker 2: that they draft end up getting a second time?
- 9:56Speaker 5: I understand that, but like when you draft a guy
- 9:59Speaker 5: and he's good and he plays well for you and
- 10:02Speaker 5: then you retain him, like Jack Mason, he doesn't then
- 10:05Speaker 5: become a bad pick when you trade him. No, Well,
- 10:09Speaker 5: like it that was a good pick. It depends on
- 10:11Speaker 5: he was a good pick.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It depends on the person. But right, you know it,
- 10:15Speaker 2: one doesn't have to mean the other. But there have
- 10:18Speaker 2: been a lot of guys that just weren't worthy over
- 10:20Speaker 2: the years of a second contract.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Well that's not I mean that that's what they did.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Like see, I that's why I think the draft and
- 10:28Speaker 5: what you developed. I think the developed part is where
- 10:31Speaker 5: Bill has really slipped. Now he's had some bad draft picks, too,
- 10:35Speaker 5: and Evyan will rattle them off for you because we're
- 10:38Speaker 5: a lockstep on them.
- 10:39Speaker 2: But he's also had good ones and that's what I've
- 10:41Speaker 2: argued strangers the world, and that's where you've come in, Paul,
- 10:44Speaker 2: you know, labeling him a very good drafting.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Well, and you know, I get a lot of crap.
- 10:49Speaker 5: I know he was for a long correct. I've had
- 10:57Speaker 5: a hard time.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he's had some some missus for sure,
- 10:59Speaker 2: But like we have this team under a microscope. I
- 11:04Speaker 2: think if we put every team under the same microscope,
- 11:06Speaker 2: we find that a lot of the front offices have
- 11:09Speaker 2: if he drafts and streaks where they don't do well
- 11:12Speaker 2: and other where they do exceptionally well and finding diamonds
- 11:16Speaker 2: in the rub. You know, it's like I think he
- 11:19Speaker 2: wasn't as bad as people thought. Oh no, he was.
- 11:21Speaker 5: The last couple of years, there was a handful of
- 11:23Speaker 5: drafts that he was every bit.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Twenty nineteen draft is abysmal. Yeah, the twenty twenty two
- 11:28Speaker 4: draft abysmal.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Twenty one is not great.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Twenty one in hindsight, you know, now it's just it's
- 11:33Speaker 4: both Romandre's here too, so it's bar More and Remandre.
- 11:36Speaker 4: But I think that the biggest thing was just the
- 11:38Speaker 4: offensive side of the ball. Yeah, they just completely have
- 11:42Speaker 4: been terrible at drafting on that side of the ball
- 11:45Speaker 4: for probably like a decade now. Really, when you go
- 11:47Speaker 4: all the way back, I mean even the eighteen drafty
- 11:50Speaker 4: Sony Michelle did what he did his rookie year, then
- 11:52Speaker 4: what you know? Then you know, Isaiah win your two
- 11:55Speaker 4: first picks, first round picks in twenty eighteen.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Good point.
- 11:58Speaker 4: So I just that's all it is. He could He
- 12:00Speaker 4: drafted defense well until the end. I mean, Christian Gonzales
- 12:03Speaker 4: was under his regime, and it's a great pick. You know,
- 12:06Speaker 4: he drafted defense well to the end. But offensively, they
- 12:09Speaker 4: completely lost touch of how to draft talent on that
- 12:12Speaker 4: side of the ball.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Why do you think that is?
- 12:16Speaker 5: I don't know, it's a great question. I don't know either.
- 12:19Speaker 5: I would say I thought he got like last year
- 12:22Speaker 5: in particular, I think he was stubborn and you know
- 12:26Speaker 5: we have to draft offense. Well, we'll see about that,
- 12:28Speaker 5: you know. Just like so don't put me in the
- 12:31Speaker 5: category of the bill Bots Bill Bo's. I like Bill
- 12:34Speaker 5: Bo's better. Where's you can get in trouble with that? Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 5: Like I think that he had some bad draft picks,
- 12:43Speaker 5: and I think they made some bad decisions. And you know,
- 12:46Speaker 5: it's like if you go back to those offensive line
- 12:48Speaker 5: like those kinds of things that when you do it
- 12:52Speaker 5: have ripple effect repercussions, Like when you allow when you
- 12:59Speaker 5: get to yards in the in you know, sort of
- 13:02Speaker 5: day two, day three, like Toney and Mason okay, and
- 13:06Speaker 5: then you allow him to walk. What does that mean?
- 13:09Speaker 5: It means that you have to then replace them, right,
- 13:11Speaker 5: And then you know, if you have to constantly replace guys,
- 13:15Speaker 5: chances are at some point you're going to replace them
- 13:17Speaker 5: with inferior players like Cole Strange. You know, Cole Strange
- 13:22Speaker 5: having to be drafted when he was cost you potentially
- 13:25Speaker 5: another good player, whoever may be. I know a lot
- 13:27Speaker 5: of people say Trent McDuffie, who is just an all pro,
- 13:31Speaker 5: you know at cornerback. You know, you draft Trent McDuffie,
- 13:34Speaker 5: Maybe you didn't need to draft Christian Gonzalez even though
- 13:37Speaker 5: he's really good. Maybe you could have gotten someone else
- 13:40Speaker 5: who's really good at a wide receiver as an example. Right, So,
- 13:44Speaker 5: like these kinds of to me, it's not just the
- 13:46Speaker 5: draft pick what you do after it and That's why
- 13:51Speaker 5: I think the developing part and the decisions to you know,
- 13:55Speaker 5: keep and move on from different guys. When you hear
- 13:58Speaker 5: guys like Jacoby Myers say at the super Bowl when
- 14:02Speaker 5: he was talking to Feligrid Maz, what was the difference?
- 14:04Speaker 5: What was the offer a million? Like we lost a
- 14:08Speaker 5: player who fits in our system for a million dollars like.
- 14:11Speaker 2: That, And that's on Bill. But and but that's that's
- 14:14Speaker 2: on Bill. But that's where the stubborn part comes in.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And also maybe the personal thing is I suspect that
- 14:19Speaker 2: it wasn't just performance, and we know he played pretty well,
- 14:24Speaker 2: what what you know, he spoke out at least a
- 14:27Speaker 2: couple occasions the time before he wasn't always you know,
- 14:31Speaker 2: in line with the bullet points, and I think that
- 14:35Speaker 2: had to do a lot with it.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, well, Paul, you were just spitting about
- 14:39Speaker 4: the draft though, Like that's what I've been saying for
- 14:42Speaker 4: this whole time, Like.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Everybody's dominant, this one's, this one's good, he Sodny Michelle.
- 14:47Speaker 5: But like you have to think about what happens as
- 14:50Speaker 5: a result of all of them. You know, Bill always
- 14:52Speaker 5: used to tell us it's all part of a mosaic.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's all cumulative effect. Because what happens is, you know,
- 14:59Speaker 4: if you look back at the twenty twenty draft, who
- 15:01Speaker 4: they've signed four players from the twenty twenty draft. Bill
- 15:03Speaker 4: drafted their replacements last year. So Bill wasn't going to
- 15:07Speaker 4: pay Kyle Duggar. He was going to let Marty Mapou
- 15:09Speaker 4: play the Kyle Duggar role. He wasn't going to pay
- 15:12Speaker 4: on Wenu. He was going to let Citi Sow play
- 15:14Speaker 4: that role, you know, play right guard.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And that's a great point. That's what That's another thing
- 15:19Speaker 2: I was thinking when I was seeing all this commentary
- 15:21Speaker 2: is Okay, they are signing these guys that Bill drafted,
- 15:24Speaker 2: but probably Bill wouldn't have done that.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he would have drafted. I think he
- 15:28Speaker 5: would have signed to win U. Yeah, okay, I think that,
- 15:30Speaker 5: like the I do think that the the Maty Mapoo
- 15:35Speaker 5: is that's a really good point. And I don't know
- 15:38Speaker 5: about you guys, but I didn't really see a whole
- 15:40Speaker 5: lot as a rookie.
- 15:41Speaker 7: No.
- 15:41Speaker 5: Yeah, special team has been not so it might have
- 15:43Speaker 5: been another one of those we get a good player,
- 15:45Speaker 5: Oh that's okay, we'll just replace him with the guy
- 15:47Speaker 5: who's not as good, right, And I think that that's
- 15:49Speaker 5: what happens when you start doing that all over the roster.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I would even even though he's a little bit of
- 15:53Speaker 5: a different player, I think Keon White is Anthony Jennings,
- 15:57Speaker 5: josh U Jay were coming up on free agency, So
- 15:59Speaker 5: let's draft another end edge player and have that guy
- 16:02Speaker 5: in the pipeline for when those guys leave. So led
- 16:05Speaker 5: to Ball's point, now, maybe City So isn't as good
- 16:08Speaker 5: as Big Mic, right. And now because you you let
- 16:12Speaker 5: Big Mike walk, you had to use a fourth round,
- 16:13Speaker 5: a high fourth round pick on drafting City So. And
- 16:17Speaker 5: instead we waited until the sixth round to draft a receiver. Now,
- 16:19Speaker 5: Pop Douglas ends up panning out. But it's just the
- 16:22Speaker 5: asset accumulation, you know, of where we're putting everything, And
- 16:25Speaker 5: there's no way to quantify that, right, because it's all subjective.
- 16:28Speaker 5: It's all opinion. Evan and I lock step on this.
- 16:30Speaker 5: We've done this many times, but it doesn't mean that
- 16:33Speaker 5: our way is the only way of looking at it.
- 16:35Speaker 5: So there's no way to quantify how this guy had
- 16:39Speaker 5: had to get drafted here, and how much better or
- 16:42Speaker 5: worse is this guy than the guy he replaced. But
- 16:45Speaker 5: we do know, you know, like I don't worry as
- 16:47Speaker 5: much about Jennings and Use because they would know money.
- 16:49Speaker 5: You know, they were short, short money guys. But like
- 16:52Speaker 5: you had to at some point say, we got to
- 16:55Speaker 5: put our foot down and we got to retain some
- 16:57Speaker 5: guys that fit like a Whenuin Duggar.
- 17:00Speaker 7: So.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Bill Bot chiming in this is Aaron, he says, it's
- 17:06Speaker 2: crazy to me how much you guys can sit there
- 17:08Speaker 2: and bash the greatest coach of all time. The man
- 17:11Speaker 2: drafted two of the greatest offensive players of all time,
- 17:14Speaker 2: Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Leave the man alone and
- 17:16Speaker 2: focus on the team.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Now, I mean, yeah, that was two decades ago. Like yeah,
- 17:20Speaker 5: I mean said, we're not disputing that. I think he's
- 17:23Speaker 5: the greatest coach of all time. I don't think he's
- 17:25Speaker 5: the greatest GM of all time, and I don't think
- 17:27Speaker 5: he's the greatest draft of all time. I think he
- 17:29Speaker 5: did a really good job in the draft. I called
- 17:30Speaker 5: him a very good drafter and again been roundly mocked
- 17:34Speaker 5: for that over the last ten years or so. But
- 17:39Speaker 5: can we can we pump the brakes a little bit?
- 17:41Speaker 5: He drafted Tom brattle like you drafted a guy with
- 17:43Speaker 5: one hundred and ninety ninth pick who turned out to
- 17:45Speaker 5: be the greatest player of all time, and we're gonna
- 17:47Speaker 5: we're gonna put that on his drafting acumen.
- 17:49Speaker 2: You basically put a chip on a roulette table and
- 17:52Speaker 2: your number came up.
- 17:53Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, yeah, Gronk. I give him some credit
- 17:56Speaker 5: for Gronk, Now again, more than how for the teams
- 18:00Speaker 5: in the league couldn't have made that pick. Bill was
- 18:02Speaker 5: a uniquely accomplished coach who could afford to have a
- 18:06Speaker 5: second round pick never play a snap, and he wouldn't
- 18:09Speaker 5: have had his job jeopardized in any way, shape or form.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yep, yep. Zane and New Jersey completely agree with you.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Evan Bill was still good at drafting defense. But man,
- 18:19Speaker 2: were the offensive picks bad misses. Not only that, but
- 18:22Speaker 2: the trades as well. A second for Segnew in the
- 18:25Speaker 2: third for Devonte Parker just awful moves on the offensive
- 18:28Speaker 2: side of the ball for years now.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Yeah, the trades are underrated. That's a good point too.
- 18:32Speaker 2: The the New Ones, I give him a past it
- 18:35Speaker 2: because they were desperate at the time.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I give him a pass mark because they tried yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 4: you know, I can't really fault them for trying to
- 18:43Speaker 4: get another receiver in here in nineteen when they desperately
- 18:46Speaker 4: needed one.
- 18:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, I would give less to Sanu. But
- 18:49Speaker 5: the Parker one, know, like the Parker one's an offseason
- 18:52Speaker 5: move that you identified a guy and said, and I
- 18:56Speaker 5: think to this day he thinks more of Parker than
- 18:58Speaker 5: there is.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I And I hate to keep harping on
- 19:01Speaker 4: Cole Strange. I know this is sort of my stick
- 19:03Speaker 4: to just pick on Cole Strange. But but it's not
- 19:06Speaker 4: even about Cole Strange. That's what I keep telling people.
- 19:08Speaker 4: It's just it's about the fact that they had a
- 19:12Speaker 4: really good guard in Joe Toney, and a really good
- 19:14Speaker 4: guarden Ted Carris, and a good guard in Shaq Mason,
- 19:17Speaker 4: and they let these guys walk off on their on
- 19:20Speaker 4: their on their own accord. And to Paul's point earlier
- 19:24Speaker 4: that now that pick has to be earmarked for replacing
- 19:27Speaker 4: that player instead of adding a player to the roster
- 19:29Speaker 4: that could have helped, like a Trent McDuffie. I know
- 19:31Speaker 4: that's the one that everybody goes back to because that
- 19:33Speaker 4: was the original pick that they were slotted in. Was
- 19:36Speaker 4: the pick that the Chiefs used to draft McDuffie. But
- 19:39Speaker 4: there's other guys in that draft and on that board
- 19:42Speaker 4: that also would have been like if you want to
- 19:43Speaker 4: go small school, then Christian Watson was right there too,
- 19:47Speaker 4: you know, from North Dakota State, and he goes to
- 19:49Speaker 4: Green Bay and now he's you know, a great player
- 19:51Speaker 4: and a great receiver for them. So it just opening
- 19:54Speaker 4: up these holes. Like I think that that's one thing
- 19:56Speaker 4: that this regime is trying to learn from. So to
- 19:58Speaker 4: the emailer's point of like, let's not talk about Bill anymore, Well,
- 20:01Speaker 4: it's spinning it forward of you know, what are they
- 20:03Speaker 4: doing differently? And how do we learn from those mistakes?
- 20:06Speaker 4: Is the most important thing.
- 20:08Speaker 2: All right, So let's talk about the draft a little
- 20:10Speaker 2: bit because we're getting closer. April twenty seventh. Is that
- 20:15Speaker 2: the day twenty fifth, twenty fifth.
- 20:18Speaker 5: The last day of the twenty seven right, I like
- 20:20Speaker 5: the way you think.
- 20:20Speaker 2: April twenty fifth, So we're getting closer. I heard somebody
- 20:25Speaker 2: today or not today, yesterday, describing Drake May Meryll Hodge
- 20:30Speaker 2: as a coach killer. Yeah, Meryl Hodge, what do you
- 20:32Speaker 2: think of that?
- 20:34Speaker 5: It's just another and many opinions.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Yeah, where does he dismiss him? What's his rationale?
- 20:41Speaker 4: I'm assuming his footwork. I know, I assume I.
- 20:45Speaker 5: That of accuracy, assistency.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess that those things. I don't know. It's
- 20:50Speaker 4: like Paul said, I always get myself into trouble with
- 20:52Speaker 4: this because, oh, Evan thinks everybody else is an idiot
- 20:55Speaker 4: except him. But it's like, I just they're all opinions.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Everybody has one on these quarterbacks, and Meryll's opinion versus
- 21:02Speaker 4: Dan Orlovsky's opinion versus Kurt Warner's opinion. Like, I just
- 21:06Speaker 4: they're all the same to me.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I don't know why in particular, he
- 21:10Speaker 5: is so so down on him, But you know, I
- 21:16Speaker 5: know people that that are just as high on him.
- 21:19Speaker 5: You know, I don't. I don't understand really how that
- 21:22Speaker 5: can happen. I don't understand how two people can watch
- 21:25Speaker 5: the same guy, right, and one think he's he's a
- 21:27Speaker 5: potential all pro and the other thing that he's a
- 21:30Speaker 5: coach killer. Right, Like, if you want to tell me
- 21:32Speaker 5: I kind of like him, or someone else says, I'm
- 21:35Speaker 5: not really a sould on him, that makes sense, But
- 21:39Speaker 5: some coach killer coach killer is as bad as you
- 21:42Speaker 5: can get.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Well, aren't all of these guys, you know, the guy
- 21:47Speaker 4: we just had. That's my point though, right, Like all
- 21:52Speaker 4: all these guys are potential coach killers if they don't
- 21:54Speaker 4: pan out, right, if the regime drafts Jenny and Daniels
- 21:56Speaker 4: and he doesn't pan out, then they're all gonna get
- 21:58Speaker 4: fired like that.
- 22:00Speaker 2: That's the to me. A coach killer isn't a guy
- 22:02Speaker 2: that you know, just you know, really can't do it.
- 22:05Speaker 2: A coach killer to me is a guy who just
- 22:09Speaker 2: you know, is so terribly bad, like, has none of
- 22:13Speaker 2: the tools, doesn't isn't coachable, and just you know, obviously
- 22:18Speaker 2: makes the coach look bad for everything that they're doing
- 22:21Speaker 2: with him. The pick, the development, everything. I mean, you
- 22:25Speaker 2: have to be really bad to be a high pick
- 22:28Speaker 2: and be a coach killer. Yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Well, I just I kind of think Evan's right. If
- 22:32Speaker 5: you take a quarterback really high and he doesn't pan out,
- 22:35Speaker 5: there's a pretty good chance you're not gonna live to
- 22:38Speaker 5: take take another one.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah. But I mean, good coaches survive it.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Ye, But it's hard, yeah, because if your quarterback doesn't
- 22:46Speaker 5: pan out, you're not winning any games.
- 22:47Speaker 4: I know, I think the only team that that stayed
- 22:50Speaker 4: the courses the Jets. I mean they that Regime Salad.
- 22:54Speaker 4: They missed on Zach Wilson and they're still there.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Well, a lot of people think you shouldn't.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Be, you know, or you get lucky like San Francisco
- 23:01Speaker 2: you miss out on Trey Lance and the guy you
- 23:04Speaker 2: you know, you bring in does well.
- 23:07Speaker 5: And they didn't lose games. That the Jets is a
- 23:10Speaker 5: better example because they're terrible. Well you know, now they're
- 23:14Speaker 5: kind of mediocre, but you know throughout that when they
- 23:18Speaker 5: when they drafted Zach Wilson, they were terrible. They got
- 23:21Speaker 5: the second pick of the draft. They are in that.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think it's what Drake may. I think people,
- 23:29Speaker 4: if you don't think that his flaws are fixable, then
- 23:32Speaker 4: you're gonna be on Merrill Hodge's side of the street
- 23:34Speaker 4: if you do think that his flaws are fixable, because
- 23:37Speaker 4: no one's saying he's a perfect prospect. So if you
- 23:40Speaker 4: if you're definitely not, if you think his flaws are fixable,
- 23:43Speaker 4: like I do, then you see all the other things
- 23:46Speaker 4: that he checks off, you know, in terms of arm,
- 23:48Speaker 4: talent and mobility and size and all these other things
- 23:52Speaker 4: that are not necessarily coachable. You know, they're either you're
- 23:55Speaker 4: either six foot four or you're not six foot four. Right,
- 23:58Speaker 4: So I think that that's the difference in a lot
- 24:01Speaker 4: of these I think traditional quarterback analysts are sit there
- 24:06Speaker 4: and say, you know, his footwork is messy, and his
- 24:09Speaker 4: timing on his drops is messy, and you know when
- 24:12Speaker 4: he goes through his progressions, his feet don't always follow
- 24:15Speaker 4: his eyes. You know, they're not always in sync, and
- 24:17Speaker 4: that costs him accuracy, as Paul was saying, So if
- 24:21Speaker 4: you don't think that you can fix that, then you
- 24:23Speaker 4: are going to think he's a giant bust.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I heard somebody say today, not quite sure what they mean,
- 24:29Speaker 2: but that all any of the three top quarterbacks, if
- 24:34Speaker 2: the other two weren't in this draft, they would be
- 24:38Speaker 2: worthy of a first overall pick. So, in other words,
- 24:42Speaker 2: if Caleb Williams kind of agree with you, that's dumb.
- 24:45Speaker 2: You know that any of them would be worthy of
- 24:48Speaker 2: a being the first overall pick without the other two
- 24:51Speaker 2: in the in the draft.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know what I'm saying, Like, are you
- 24:55Speaker 5: saying in any draft? Any other draft?
- 24:57Speaker 2: Oh?
- 24:58Speaker 5: This year? Like on average, my guess is like Roma doonesdays,
- 25:02Speaker 5: Cap will be in the first wide receiver taken. He's
- 25:05Speaker 5: probably gonna be the third wide receiver taken. If the
- 25:07Speaker 5: other two weren't in the draft, what are we doing
- 25:09Speaker 5: the third ranked?
- 25:10Speaker 2: This person wasn't like quarterback to number one one one.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Yeah, but quarterback inherently gets taken one overall as long
- 25:17Speaker 5: as you have that, you know, that talent.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean in Kenny Pickett's year, then yeah, all
- 25:23Speaker 4: three of these quarterbacks would be the first overall picking
- 25:26Speaker 4: that draft, probably if you're putting him in the twenty
- 25:30Speaker 4: one draft of Trevor Lawrence. I don't know if I
- 25:33Speaker 4: would take these guys over there.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Let's rephrase, it might be too Do you think that,
- 25:37Speaker 2: you know, forget about who they're being compared to on
- 25:40Speaker 2: an island. Are all these three guys one one worthy?
- 25:46Speaker 2: You know, good enough to be drafted one to one?
- 25:50Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 25:51Speaker 4: I think so. From a physical tools perspective, yes, they
- 25:55Speaker 4: all have warts that we've talked about for the last
- 25:57Speaker 4: six months. But from just up side physical potential, yeah.
- 26:02Speaker 5: Probably maybe.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, it's it's I think it's a
- 26:05Speaker 2: hard thing. It's hard.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Someone's trying to like play a game.
- 26:08Speaker 2: With it really is. But so in other words, you
- 26:11Speaker 2: can't miss no on any of these guys.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I wouldn't say, but.
- 26:16Speaker 5: You know, at least one of them is going to
- 26:17Speaker 5: miss probably two.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's the that's just a lot of works.
- 26:21Speaker 2: That's hard. Yeah, unless we're in one of those freaky drafts.
- 26:25Speaker 4: You know, what was it a John Elway draft?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Right now? Marino eighty Way?
- 26:28Speaker 5: The eighty three draft had three they had six first
- 26:31Speaker 5: round quarterbacks, and three of them are in the Hall
- 26:33Speaker 5: of Fame. Yep, you know, wa, Lway, Marino and Kelly.
- 26:36Speaker 4: All three are going to the Hall of Fame. That's
- 26:38Speaker 4: what Paul just said.
- 26:39Speaker 2: And they weren't drafted one, two.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Three, No, No, No, Elway was one. Yeah, but Marino
- 26:44Speaker 5: went twenty seven.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yep.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Well because of the Yeah, but that smear campaign.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they they just before the draft, you know, they
- 26:53Speaker 2: were talking about his marijuana use.
- 26:55Speaker 5: That was that was big in those days. So you
- 26:57Speaker 5: couldn't do that.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Now this is the time of year.
- 26:59Speaker 2: If you don't do it, it's like, what's wrong?
- 27:00Speaker 5: What's man with you?
- 27:01Speaker 4: We saw with Tovandre Sweat he got the d w
- 27:04Speaker 4: I last late last week. Yeah, you know, just this
- 27:07Speaker 4: is the time of year where you hold your breath
- 27:09Speaker 4: and you just don't want to see anybody make a
- 27:10Speaker 4: dumble decision.
- 27:11Speaker 2: People say, well, should that make it different? I think
- 27:13Speaker 2: that should. I mean, come on, man, you're so close,
- 27:17Speaker 2: you know, like keep it together for a few more weeks.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Yeah, with him too, I guess their were concerns about
- 27:23Speaker 4: his partying and his off the field behavior and that respect,
- 27:27Speaker 4: and teams teams were asking him about that during the
- 27:30Speaker 4: visits and stuff like that, and ju he said it
- 27:33Speaker 4: was all behind him. And then two days later he's
- 27:36Speaker 4: in handcuffs. So you know that that tells you not
- 27:39Speaker 4: only that he's three hundred and sixty pounds, So for
- 27:42Speaker 4: him to be getting pulled over for d WI, I
- 27:46Speaker 4: mean that might have been must have been quite the night.
- 27:48Speaker 2: So Ron and Conway, New Hampshire, you guys are spot
- 27:52Speaker 2: on today. I've said for years that Bill could draft
- 27:54Speaker 2: defensive players very well, but his offensive players were suspect.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Bill is and has always been very stubborn, and it
- 28:01Speaker 2: seems always that his opinion was the only one that mattered.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I can't understand why Craft could allow that Bill is
- 28:07Speaker 2: the greatest coach ever, but as a GM he will
- 28:09Speaker 2: be looked at as far as a as a draft
- 28:12Speaker 2: or of offense as less than average, and will be
- 28:14Speaker 2: judged by draftees like Harry and Strange. I'm hoping the
- 28:18Speaker 2: new regime will fix things. I'm excited for the draft
- 28:21Speaker 2: and to see who will take. Lastly, you're all right too.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Bill always drafted replacements because you never wanted to pay
- 28:27Speaker 2: a big contract to a player. Does lawyer malloy sound
- 28:30Speaker 2: familiar anyway? Have a good day, guys, love the show
- 28:34Speaker 2: and Fred. If my autocorrect on my phone makes any errors,
- 28:37Speaker 2: my apologies for my grammar. No, you did pretty well run. Yeah,
- 28:41Speaker 2: I mean I don't want to get into like I mean,
- 28:43Speaker 2: lawyer molloy. They had an offer for him, and they
- 28:46Speaker 2: were willing to resign him. It's just, you know, they
- 28:49Speaker 2: just couldn't get it done. Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Yeah, there there's no doubt that the offense, the picks
- 28:55Speaker 4: on offense were not good for the last honestly almost
- 29:01Speaker 4: decade of Bill's tenure here. I mean you have to
- 29:04Speaker 4: go all the way back to probably Gronk in Hernandez
- 29:07Speaker 4: to go to the bat last time that they you know,
- 29:09Speaker 4: other than Lineman, you know Toney Mason like those guys.
- 29:12Speaker 4: But when you talk about skill players, the last good
- 29:15Speaker 4: Belichick skill player draft pick, now, Jacobe was decent, but
- 29:19Speaker 4: he's a UDFA is probably Gronk and Hernandez. I mean
- 29:23Speaker 4: that's going back a decade.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Floyd in Redford, Michigan. Uh, he says, can we
- 29:30Speaker 2: stop the Drake May trashing? I'm not even a Drake
- 29:33Speaker 2: May fan, but stop trashing the guy. Conspiracy theory. I
- 29:36Speaker 2: believe the Minnesota Vikings are trying to get Drake May
- 29:39Speaker 2: to fall to them by trashing him. I could be wrong,
- 29:42Speaker 2: but wasn't Merrill Hodge on a Minneapolis radio station when
- 29:45Speaker 2: he said drafting Drake May will get you fired Minneapolis.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Didn't this dude say Caleb Williams wasn't a first rounder?
- 29:52Speaker 2: Why are so many repeating his comments? Aren't many falling?
- 29:57Speaker 2: Aren't many falling for the Oki dok rumors over facts?
- 30:02Speaker 2: Could be a conspiracy theory? Yeah?
- 30:05Speaker 5: But couldn't it be a conspiracy theory like that? Say
- 30:08Speaker 5: Tim Hasselbeck loves Drake May.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yep, yep. This is why they call it silly season.
- 30:13Speaker 5: I mean, people have opinions on these guys. I don't
- 30:16Speaker 5: necessarily think Merril Hodge is trashing the kid for alterier reasons,
- 30:21Speaker 5: do you.
- 30:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 30:23Speaker 5: I gotta think that's what he thinks.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I don't know. Alex says, if Hodge thinks Drake May
- 30:29Speaker 2: is a coach killer, then he must have seen Mac
- 30:31Speaker 2: being a coach killer before everyone else. Mac was is
- 30:35Speaker 2: way worse of a quarterback than Drake May. May can
- 30:37Speaker 2: learn more of the mechanics that Evan was talking about.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Some people speak to put stuff out there.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Besides it, I hate this part of it too, Like
- 30:46Speaker 5: everybody who says things that are mean to us is
- 30:49Speaker 5: just doing it to hurt us. Like again, just take
- 30:52Speaker 5: everybody's opinion, weigh it, make your own call.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:56Speaker 5: I like Drake May. I've liked him from the start.
- 30:59Speaker 5: I haven't like jumped on the Drake May bandwagon. I
- 31:02Speaker 5: don't really discover Drake Man. I didn't. I didn't say that.
- 31:06Speaker 5: That's ridiculous. But I just don't understand why we can't
- 31:10Speaker 5: just look at people's analysis and say, oh, well he
- 31:12Speaker 5: agrees with me, oh well he disagrees with me. And
- 31:15Speaker 5: why the guy who disagrees with you has to be
- 31:18Speaker 5: like lying or you know, underhanded, doesn't have the facts, Like,
- 31:22Speaker 5: I don't get that. Why do we do that?
- 31:23Speaker 4: To stick to your guns with these things?
- 31:25Speaker 2: Besides the draft talk Fred nice shirt with the House
- 31:28Speaker 2: of Dragon logo. What are you most excited about them
- 31:31Speaker 2: for the summer? I think the weather.
- 31:34Speaker 4: I think he's I think he's talking about how the
- 31:36Speaker 4: Dragon's coming out is June sixteenth.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I will not be watching.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Oh why was not a fan?
- 31:41Speaker 2: I'm done with that whole thing.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Surprise you into that?
- 31:46Speaker 2: I was? But now enough.
- 31:48Speaker 8: I have to recommend three Body Problem by the Game
- 31:50Speaker 8: of throwne showrunners on Netflix.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Three Body Problem.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Eight episode, season excellent.
- 31:55Speaker 2: What's it about Alien Envision?
- 31:57Speaker 4: Okay they are they're nerds, that's sure, I mean, and
- 32:01Speaker 4: takes one to know one. So those guys will only
- 32:04Speaker 4: they only.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Do that to show you know that. I feel like, like,
- 32:08Speaker 2: no disrespect to you know what the prequels of Game
- 32:12Speaker 2: of Thrones are, But like I feel I've had enough
- 32:14Speaker 2: of that now I want to see new stuff.
- 32:16Speaker 5: I'm surprised.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I like the first season, but it was a
- 32:19Speaker 4: long time ago. Now it feels like so I don't
- 32:22Speaker 4: really remember what happened. Yeah that's going to be I mean,
- 32:25Speaker 4: I'm sure they'll do like a nice free cap, but
- 32:27Speaker 4: like a.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Fifty minute intro. Niece married the uncle.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, look, if it wouldn't be Game of
- 32:33Speaker 4: Thrones lower, if there wasn't some weird stuff.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Then there that was okay.
- 32:38Speaker 4: I watched the Bear at all, No, the Bear is fantasticeah, So.
- 32:42Speaker 5: I thought it was really slow, and then in the
- 32:44Speaker 5: middle of the second season, I was like, wow, this
- 32:47Speaker 5: is really.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Good, really really good show Destiny and Maryland. If the
- 32:52Speaker 2: Patriots selected Lad McConkie at thirty four, guy, for whatever reason,
- 32:57Speaker 2: what would you expect the wide receiver configurations to be?
- 32:59Speaker 2: Would Born become our X with Lad playing Z and
- 33:03Speaker 2: Pop in the slot? How would kg Osborne be mixed in? Then?
- 33:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think that it does create a little
- 33:11Speaker 4: bit of a logjam in terms of skill sets and
- 33:14Speaker 4: body types. That's why I've been doing a little bit
- 33:16Speaker 4: more homework on some of these X receivers, just the
- 33:18Speaker 4: big outside guys, just because how many of these really
- 33:23Speaker 4: guys that belong on the inside of the formation or
- 33:26Speaker 4: are you gonna have on one team? And maybe Lad McConkie.
- 33:29Speaker 4: I understand people that would sit there and say, well,
- 33:31Speaker 4: just draft the best receiver regardless of where he plays
- 33:33Speaker 4: on the field, and there's something to that. But I
- 33:36Speaker 4: think lad McConkie has some ability to play on the outside.
- 33:38Speaker 4: I don't think he's pigeonholed just to the slot. But
- 33:41Speaker 4: he's definitely more of a technician than he is, you know,
- 33:44Speaker 4: a bully ball receiver. You know this is not Devonte Parker.
- 33:48Speaker 4: It's much more of a polished route runner.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Hey Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,

- 34:43Speaker 2: hike to the stadium. Yeah, they just put this new
- 34:46Speaker 2: you know, feel down and now they have to cover
- 34:48Speaker 2: it with plywood and plastic and they're going to dump
- 34:51Speaker 2: about a million tons of dirt over it. Yeahs motocross
- 34:55Speaker 2: and Monster Mash, Monster a Jam.
- 35:01Speaker 4: We'll sell you the whole seat, but you'll only need the.
- 35:04Speaker 2: So it's dirt season here in Foxborough.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Cool, monster jams.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Cool, it's a kid. I obviously put your ear plugs
- 35:13Speaker 2: in that.
- 35:16Speaker 4: I've been.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I've went to the rehearsal once. It's pretty cool. Yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 2: you know, kids like it for the kids. More emails
- 35:27Speaker 2: at web radio pages dot com. Phones are down? What
- 35:30Speaker 2: what jewels? What's that? You got food?
- 35:34Speaker 8: Oh?
- 35:34Speaker 2: You want to take a break? Okay, if the food's here,
- 35:36Speaker 2: we'll take a break. All right, We'll take it one. Okay,
- 35:41Speaker 2: so we'll do another email then. This is from chat
- 35:45Speaker 2: in Atlanta. I just want to say this draft fatigue
- 35:47Speaker 2: is real. However, I can't I can't remember being this
- 35:51Speaker 2: excited for a draft. If they take a quarterback of three,
- 35:54Speaker 2: no matter who he is, each kid seems to have
- 35:57Speaker 2: their own elite traits that everyone looks for. I like
- 36:00Speaker 2: all the quarterbacks in the top four, so whoever it is,
- 36:03Speaker 2: they'll be fun to watch either way. The only thing
- 36:05Speaker 2: that may bring me down would be a trade back.
- 36:08Speaker 2: But hell, even if they trade back, it looks like
- 36:10Speaker 2: that would mean a massive pickhaul. Can't wait.
- 36:13Speaker 5: So I agree wholeheartedly. Top three. I'm not sure that
- 36:16Speaker 5: McCarthy has a special skill set that stands alone, but
- 36:21Speaker 5: like I've said a million times in the last couple
- 36:23Speaker 5: of weeks, it's because I haven't seen it doesn't mean
- 36:25Speaker 5: it doesn't exist. But the other three I totally agree.
- 36:29Speaker 5: I think there's a reason why these three guys are
- 36:32Speaker 5: thought of the way they are. They have elite talent.
- 36:34Speaker 5: Now we'll see if they have elite consistency to go
- 36:37Speaker 5: along with it.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, Jaden Daniels, as I dig into, I'm gonna
- 36:42Speaker 4: be writing some film reviews for the site on all
- 36:44Speaker 4: three guys, just to talk about them a little bit
- 36:48Speaker 4: more in depth. And the more that I look into
- 36:50Speaker 4: Jaden Daniels, some of the things about him as a
- 36:53Speaker 4: passer are a little bit concerning, just a lot of
- 36:56Speaker 4: overlap with some of his warts justin fields, in terms
- 37:01Speaker 4: of timing, anticipation, taking a lot of sacks, you know,
- 37:05Speaker 4: get getting the ball out on time, and in rhythm
- 37:08Speaker 4: that are a little bit concerning. But I think that
- 37:10Speaker 4: he has that trump cart of the athleticism and the
- 37:13Speaker 4: mobility that maybe it erases all those things. So when
- 37:17Speaker 4: you try to really boil down to and nitpick and
- 37:20Speaker 4: figure out why wouldn't I like this guy? The only
- 37:23Speaker 4: guy I hate to kill him too all the time.
- 37:25Speaker 4: But the only guy that I can't really figure out
- 37:27Speaker 4: is JJ. I just don't really see that as a
- 37:30Speaker 4: top five pick prospect. I'm not saying he's not going
- 37:34Speaker 4: to be a capable quarterback at the next level, but
- 37:36Speaker 4: I definitely put him closer to like the mac Jones
- 37:39Speaker 4: side of things than you know, a Josh Allen or
- 37:42Speaker 4: Justin Herbert or one of these.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Paul, it's not that he we've seen him not do things,
- 37:47Speaker 2: it's just we haven't seen him do things, and so
- 37:49Speaker 2: it's hard to judge. Yeah, I mean, I know, I
- 37:53Speaker 2: just said, as Paul said.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Yeah, you said, like no, no, like offer a counter
- 38:00Speaker 5: repeating what you said.
- 38:01Speaker 4: There's some truth to that, But I think, you know,
- 38:03Speaker 4: with people that are obsessed with this stuff, like me,
- 38:06Speaker 4: I've watched a lot of JJ McCarthy throws, Like it's
- 38:08Speaker 4: not so, yes, you have to watch more games to
- 38:11Speaker 4: get to the same number of throws, you know, you
- 38:13Speaker 4: try to watch a certain number of throws of each guy.
- 38:16Speaker 4: And Drake May it might take five games, and JJ
- 38:18Speaker 4: McCarthy it might take the whole season.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Like he threw like something like one hundred and eighty
- 38:22Speaker 5: fewer passes.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Yeah, it had very, very very few passes in the
- 38:27Speaker 4: fourth quarter because they are blowing teams out, so he
- 38:30Speaker 4: doesn't need to throw the ball in the fourth quarter.
- 38:32Speaker 4: So there's some truth to that.
- 38:34Speaker 5: That's another thing. Yeah, and I'm glad you brought that up.
- 38:36Speaker 5: The Big Ten, like everybody craps all over the ACC
- 38:40Speaker 5: and rightly, so it's not a great conference. Can we
- 38:43Speaker 5: all agree. It's like the SEC and then everybody else,
- 38:46Speaker 5: Like some the PAC twelve was really good last year,
- 38:48Speaker 5: this particular season it was, But in general, it's the
- 38:52Speaker 5: SEC and then the other four. Like the Big Ten
- 38:56Speaker 5: has Ohio State and Michigan and that's it right right,
- 38:59Speaker 5: Like Penn State is not on their level now, like
- 39:01Speaker 5: they're just the I like to say, the king of
- 39:03Speaker 5: the dipshits, like they're just better than those other you know,
- 39:07Speaker 5: the Minnesota's, in the Northwesterns, in the Iowas.
- 39:09Speaker 4: And so the game that everybody puts on a pedestal
- 39:12Speaker 4: for JJ McCarthy is against Michigan State, who fired their coach,
- 39:16Speaker 4: had like a whole scandal going on around their program,
- 39:20Speaker 4: and wasn't that good to begin with. And so I
- 39:22Speaker 4: understand that it was a really good game. He made
- 39:24Speaker 4: a lot of really high level throws in that game,
- 39:27Speaker 4: but they were just coming off of a week where
- 39:29Speaker 4: their entire program was up in flames, and then they
- 39:31Speaker 4: went and played one of the best teams in the country.
- 39:33Speaker 2: So Mike's deuce is here just in time to see Paul.
- 39:37Speaker 2: When we come back, we'll get to report from Duson
- 39:40Speaker 2: about what he's been up to. All right, we'll be
- 39:42Speaker 2: right back. If you want to see Toyota's best offers

- 41:11Speaker 6: What's up, everybody.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Let's listen to a snippet from the latest episode of
- 41:14Speaker 2: the Patriots Draft Countdown podcast presented by Bud Light.
- 41:18Speaker 3: All Right, we're here now talking the defensive front seven guys.
- 41:21Speaker 3: We're gonna include three different position groups here, because, let's
- 41:24Speaker 3: face it, the Patriots need offense, and I would make
- 41:27Speaker 3: an argument that they need some front seven help in
- 41:29Speaker 3: the not too distant future, but for this year, just
- 41:31Speaker 3: running down real quick. I mean, Lawrence guy departed. However,
- 41:34Speaker 3: they did sign arm On Watts kind of could fill
- 41:36Speaker 3: that position. You got key On White from last year
- 41:38Speaker 3: stepping up there. But otherwise it's kind of the same
- 41:41Speaker 3: front we know the year Christian Barmore had daniel Lequallee
- 41:44Speaker 3: a rotational piece coming back at linebacker. You got Bentley
- 41:47Speaker 3: and Tavani Tavai Taki comes in, Rayquon McMillan coming back
- 41:52Speaker 3: from an injury. I'm just listening all these guys off
- 41:54Speaker 3: to show some of the depth. The one position I
- 41:56Speaker 3: do think is a concern though, is along the edge,
- 41:59Speaker 3: and so it's not impossible to see them going in
- 42:01Speaker 3: that position early on. But I'd like to just start
- 42:03Speaker 3: with like the four top guys I think of that group,
- 42:07Speaker 3: which is Jared Verse, Chop Robinson, Dallas Turner and lie
- 42:10Speaker 3: to Latsu. Four guys who all really fit kind of
- 42:14Speaker 3: the Patriots prototype along the edge. We could potentially make,
- 42:17Speaker 3: you know, a good three down rotational piece alongside Matthew Judon,
- 42:22Speaker 3: josh Ucha, Anthony Jennings. Still feels like they were a
- 42:24Speaker 3: little light there, but Tis, they're probably not gonna be
- 42:26Speaker 3: able to take one of those guys.
- 42:27Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm kind of looking at this like we talked
- 42:29Speaker 9: about the DBS. I hope we don't take somebody at
- 42:32Speaker 9: the defensive front seven before the fourth. But Jared Verse,
- 42:36Speaker 9: I mean we saw him in Indianapolis that kill Roy
- 42:38Speaker 9: shout out to their bread sticks. But that guy is
- 42:40Speaker 9: a unit and it's I said it earlier. It's just
- 42:43Speaker 9: it's a shame that we had such a tough year
- 42:44Speaker 9: because he would love to see these guys on the Patriots,
- 42:47Speaker 9: but we just this isn't what we need right now.
- 42:49Speaker 9: But Jared Verse to the top of the crop right there.
- 42:52Speaker 5: For me, He's actually one that I'm really high on
- 42:54Speaker 5: and I love his story, you know, coming from a
- 42:56Speaker 5: lower level, you know, out of nowhere from Albany, and
- 43:00Speaker 5: you know, being just a star at a level like
- 43:03Speaker 5: Florida State. So I agree with Tis really like the player.
- 43:07Speaker 5: Don't really see much of a chance of the Patriots
- 43:10Speaker 5: being in position now maybe if you're talking about trading
- 43:12Speaker 5: down in some of the dominoes that you kind of
- 43:16Speaker 5: traded down with an eye on don't fall into place.
- 43:20Speaker 5: I think that's a guy that he screened Patriot when
- 43:22Speaker 5: you watch him, but again, I think very very little
- 43:25Speaker 5: to no chance.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I felt like Dallas Turner two, Alabama guy. I mean,
- 43:28Speaker 3: another one that would easily fit lot to the guys
- 43:30Speaker 3: who have good stories. I mean, seem like his career
- 43:32Speaker 3: was going to end the neck injury, comes back, very athletic,
- 43:36Speaker 3: very long.
- 43:36Speaker 5: Lot two is one of my favorite guys because I
- 43:38Speaker 5: don't watch a ton of games, but I'm watching. I'm
- 43:41Speaker 5: watching the CLA game and this guy a lot too is.
- 43:44Speaker 5: I think it might have been against U I see
- 43:45Speaker 5: and he made a couple of plays like back to back.
- 43:47Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, I'm going to keep that guy in mind. Yeah,
- 43:49Speaker 5: Like two minutes later, the guy goes well, he's going
- 43:52Speaker 5: to be a top fifteen pick. That's why I'm like
- 43:54Speaker 5: nothing by Paul.
- 43:56Speaker 4: He's your prototypical edge rusher.
- 43:57Speaker 8: I mean thirteen sacks on the season, just asolutely dominated
- 44:00Speaker 8: this year to UCLA and I mean not.
- 44:03Speaker 4: A free to catch the football.
- 44:04Speaker 8: Two interceptions on the season as well, But he's a
- 44:07Speaker 8: guy that is going to set the edge when you
- 44:10Speaker 8: need him to. Same with Jared Verus, like easily in
- 44:13Speaker 8: my opinion, the two top guys in that draft that
- 44:16Speaker 8: you could slide from.
- 44:17Speaker 3: That's what they need, like you know, I think they.
- 44:18Speaker 3: I mean, it's just it's an underrated need and that's
- 44:20Speaker 3: why I like, if it were to happen early, I
- 44:22Speaker 3: wouldn't totally hate it. The other guy I'll just mention
- 44:24Speaker 3: is Darius Robinson from Mazoo. Watched him during Senior Bowl practices.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I mean he is I just wrote he's a handful.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I mean, wherever he lines up, he can play a
- 44:33Speaker 3: number of different spots. I don't know if he's going
- 44:35Speaker 3: to make it out of the first round, but he's
- 44:37Speaker 3: another one who maybe not quite in that upper tier,
- 44:39Speaker 3: but if he were to slip, I could maybe consider
- 44:41Speaker 3: it there in the second round.
- 44:43Speaker 8: Yeah, No, he's great, honestly, always in the backfield, just always,
- 44:48Speaker 8: just his presence is felt. And fourteen tackle for loss
- 44:51Speaker 8: in the season led the team, so it's it's a
- 44:54Speaker 8: great number.
- 44:54Speaker 5: So just before we move on from the edge guys,
- 44:56Speaker 5: I'm curious what you think in terms of the style
- 45:00Speaker 5: of edge player if the Patriots again, I think we
- 45:02Speaker 5: all agree we're talking day three yep, yeah, because I
- 45:05Speaker 5: think that you know, the needs are there, but would
- 45:07Speaker 5: you want to you know, a bigger edge guy maybe
- 45:11Speaker 5: you know, Anthony Jennings physical edge setter, or would you
- 45:15Speaker 5: want maybe a smaller two fifty you know, pass rusher.
- 45:20Speaker 3: A great question, Paul. I mean I love that you
- 45:22Speaker 3: kind of you kind of set me up because I
- 45:24Speaker 3: have you know, two later around options. I think the
- 45:26Speaker 3: cover kind of both those options.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Uh. You know, Nelson.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Caesar is one who has kind of been on my
- 45:31Speaker 3: radar for a little bit. He's kind of more that prototypical,
- 45:34Speaker 3: has the power, you know as a captain, but you know,
- 45:37Speaker 3: more like kind of the edge setter type, maybe needs
- 45:39Speaker 3: some work on the pass rush. It's a little bit
- 45:41Speaker 3: more Jennings than Uce. But then Jalen Harrell from Michigan
- 45:44Speaker 3: I mean, everybody watched Michigan's defense this year. He's another
- 45:48Speaker 3: one who, you know, kind of reminds me of Uce
- 45:50Speaker 3: a little bit, maybe not quite so specific to being
- 45:53Speaker 3: a pass rusher, a designated pass rusher like uch Is
- 45:57Speaker 3: with his you know o j speed around the edge.
- 45:59Speaker 3: But I just was really impressed with kind of Harold's athleticism.
- 46:02Speaker 3: He's kind of shifty, you know, he can kind of
- 46:03Speaker 3: beat guys and make guys miss.
- 46:05Speaker 9: If you're taking to edge rusher, I want to get
- 46:07Speaker 9: after the quarterback. That's why I like Mohammed Kamara Colorado State.
- 46:11Speaker 9: I don't know if you guys watched the one Colorado game.
- 46:13Speaker 9: Everybody watched Kara Saverus Colorado, but he's a beast, just
- 46:16Speaker 9: gets back. They're very violent and aggressive off the line.
- 46:19Speaker 9: He had thirty and a half career sacks, five forced fumbles,
- 46:22Speaker 9: forty five and a half tackles for loss And that's
- 46:25Speaker 9: kind of what I want there. And I think if
- 46:26Speaker 9: you're taking an edge rusher, as the Patriots, you know
- 46:29Speaker 9: we have Judon Anthony Jennings uchs, you're really going to
- 46:32Speaker 9: develop and the hope they hit their stride next so
- 46:35Speaker 9: you don't really need a Day one starter, So that's
- 46:37Speaker 9: my thought there.
- 46:39Speaker 8: Yeah, I think the Patriots retaining Uch shows that they
- 46:42Speaker 8: feel they have a little bit more in him, especially
- 46:44Speaker 8: at the edge role. Obviously fell off a little bit
- 46:46Speaker 8: this season, but I think they're expecting him to get
- 46:50Speaker 8: back to where he was in twenty twenty two. I
- 46:52Speaker 8: think that's a huge step that he'll need to take
- 46:54Speaker 8: heading into this season to really see if he's worth
- 46:57Speaker 8: what the Patriots are looking for.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Them to say. I know you want to talk about
- 47:01Speaker 5: the big guys inside, Mike bet your specialty, but one
- 47:04Speaker 5: thing to keep in mind for this discussion is Judon
- 47:07Speaker 5: specifically because last year of his deal. I do think
- 47:11Speaker 5: you know, I'm not telling you he's getting traded tomorrow,
- 47:13Speaker 5: but it wouldn't you know, It wouldn't be overly surprising
- 47:17Speaker 5: to me. And then all of a sudden you pick
- 47:19Speaker 5: up maybe a second or third round pick and you
- 47:21Speaker 5: replace him with a young pass rusher like that wouldn't
- 47:24Speaker 5: be out of the rama possibility.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Like I'd throw Chris Braswell from another guy at Senior Bowl,
- 47:28Speaker 3: similar kind of thing, you know, but more of a
- 47:30Speaker 3: pass rusher.
- 47:31Speaker 5: But Bama, you know.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I love those Bama guys, and I mean that's
- 47:35Speaker 3: you know, but I think just to go back to
- 47:36Speaker 3: your question, Paul, I mean I really think they they
- 47:38Speaker 3: really need to find a three down guy. I mean
- 47:39Speaker 3: I don't think you know, you want to go into
- 47:41Speaker 3: the season thinking like, oh god, you know Jenning's out
- 47:43Speaker 3: there first second and get him off Oocha's in. Like
- 47:45Speaker 3: it's just you'd love to find a three down guy
- 47:47Speaker 3: that can kind of do it all. And you know,
- 47:49Speaker 3: maybe you draft somebody this year like that, you know,
- 47:51Speaker 3: not like a Caesar, that you can kind of develop
- 47:53Speaker 3: and allow him to grow into that. But before we
- 47:55Speaker 3: get to down into the you know, the big guys inside,
- 47:57Speaker 3: I just wanted to, you know, highlight Peyton will And
- 48:00Speaker 3: from NC State, who he ran a four four three
- 48:03Speaker 3: at the combine, which is like, you know, he's like
- 48:05Speaker 3: six two to forty, I mean absolutely flying. Just a
- 48:09Speaker 3: lot of injury concerns with him. I think the Patriots
- 48:11Speaker 3: are probably mostly set inside right now. But he's one
- 48:15Speaker 3: guy if you wanted to kind of evolve a little bit,
- 48:17Speaker 3: add a little bit more speed on the second level. Again,
- 48:20Speaker 3: probably gonna go too high from when they're gonna take
- 48:22Speaker 3: him if they believe he can stay healthy, but could fit.
- 48:24Speaker 9: I got another guy which might be the Pat sweet
- 48:26Speaker 9: Spot kind of maybe fourth round Cedric Gray from UNC.
- 48:30Speaker 9: Bit of an outside linebacker. Also play him on the edge,
- 48:32Speaker 9: but that he kind of is like a Jennings to me, like,
- 48:34Speaker 9: you know, develop him works out great. If not, like
- 48:37Speaker 9: you know, you give him some time. So that's a
- 48:39Speaker 9: that's a guy I'd look out for. Also UNC. You know,
- 48:41Speaker 9: mate Drake, may I know each other?
- 48:46Speaker 5: That doesn't work?
- 48:48Speaker 3: Chris, you got an You got any off the ball
- 48:50Speaker 3: linebacker types or should be moving onto the defensive late
- 48:54Speaker 3: I d ls as we like to call them.
- 48:55Speaker 4: I have a couple of the d ls in there.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I will tee us up with the biggest of them.
- 48:59Speaker 5: All up, all right.
- 49:00Speaker 8: Bradon Fisk out of Florida State, I mean just an
- 49:03Speaker 8: absolute dog. We were watching him at the combine, just
- 49:06Speaker 8: our mouths fellow the floor when we saw his speed.
- 49:08Speaker 8: Uh in that forty yard dash of his. But he's
- 49:11Speaker 8: a guy, I mean forty three tackles the true run stuffer,
- 49:13Speaker 8: but also can get to the quarterback.
- 49:15Speaker 4: He's quick.
- 49:16Speaker 8: I mean if he gets his hands inside you, I
- 49:18Speaker 8: mean it's game over.
- 49:19Speaker 2: You lost that battle.
- 49:20Speaker 5: So I mean aggressive.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I mean just he's I forget what with what the
- 49:24Speaker 3: word I wrote, but he just I mean he's a dog.
- 49:26Speaker 3: You just tell like he's he's gonna come in, he's
- 49:28Speaker 3: gonna play hard. But I thought you were gonna go
- 49:30Speaker 3: with Devandre Sweat.
- 49:32Speaker 2: It's just big.
- 49:34Speaker 5: That's a dude.
- 49:35Speaker 3: He can move it in the suer bowl. I mean,
- 49:37Speaker 3: just a big guy.
- 49:37Speaker 9: Had a lot of plays in the We're at a
- 49:39Speaker 9: five to five point two or something, which guy that
- 49:41Speaker 9: size is absurd.
- 49:42Speaker 3: It's like mass equals four times acceleration. And they're like,
- 49:45Speaker 3: oh my god.
- 49:46Speaker 10: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, Oh No,
- 49:51Speaker 10: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery.
- 49:54Speaker 10: Everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 49:58Speaker 10: now means next for residential delivery only.
- 50:03Speaker 5: And no great moments in.
- 50:07Speaker 6: History only gets better, It only gets better. You're so optimistic,
- 50:11Speaker 6: I'm trying to be. Everyone else is all doom and
- 50:13Speaker 6: gloom all the time. Somebody's gonna pro.
- 50:14Speaker 3: I just have to say the words. You don't have
- 50:16Speaker 3: to believe in me.
- 50:17Speaker 6: I just I've gotten bored yet I'm never bored. Ever,
- 50:22Speaker 6: There's always a million things to do. Are you working
- 50:24Speaker 6: on another boat?
- 50:24Speaker 3: No?
- 50:26Speaker 6: I just don't understand how people can be bored. There's
- 50:28Speaker 6: a million things in life to do. You cannot be bored.
- 50:31Speaker 6: You have to be one of the most boring people
- 50:33Speaker 6: on earth to be bored.
- 50:36Speaker 8: Wow.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Wow, I don't really find there are being a million
- 50:38Speaker 5: things to do just in my house.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Don't tell my seven year old, because that's all here.
- 50:41Speaker 2: I'm bored.
- 50:42Speaker 6: If you own a house, there's never a shortage of
- 50:45Speaker 6: things to do. If you own your own house.
- 50:47Speaker 2: That's true. If you've got the willingness.
- 50:51Speaker 5: Or the ability or the abilities. There's there's nine thousand
- 50:54Speaker 5: things I could fix around my house, but I don't
- 50:56Speaker 5: dare do any of them because they'll just need to
- 50:58Speaker 5: be fixed again when I'm done fixing.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Are you could man with your hands?
- 51:01Speaker 5: I'm sure he's the best.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Come give me a massage.
- 51:05Speaker 5: That's another great moment.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Bud Light, the official
- 51:13Speaker 2: beer sponsor of the New England Patriots.
- 51:16Speaker 3: That's the one.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, here's another one. Are you doing a little
- 51:19Speaker 2: spring cleaning? Bob's Discount Furniture can help shop storage. Pack
- 51:24Speaker 2: styles like comfy like super comfy, sectionals with built in storage,
- 51:30Speaker 2: party ready dining cabinets and storage seating, and best selling

- 51:38Speaker 2: prices spring into the new season at your nearest Bob's
- 51:41Speaker 2: Discount Furniture, the official furniture store of the New England Patriots.
- 51:46Speaker 2: So there you go, there you go.
- 51:48Speaker 5: You know, the Eric never being bored dropped there?
- 51:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mess a lot of opportunity. Yeah, I'm listening
- 51:56Speaker 2: back in that I missed a few, Like.
- 51:59Speaker 5: You've never not had anything to do? Yeah, like I've never.
- 52:03Speaker 3: I kind of like being boored sometimes, right, but.
- 52:05Speaker 5: He's nothing like me time.
- 52:06Speaker 2: But here's the other thing about Eric, Like I can
- 52:09Speaker 2: understand him always having something to do, not that kind
- 52:12Speaker 2: of I can always understand Eric having something to do
- 52:15Speaker 2: because he never finishes anything, so there's always something to do.
- 52:20Speaker 3: You know, he's a man in many interests. I wonder
- 52:23Speaker 3: he soon. I haven't haven't heard from him in a while, So.
- 52:26Speaker 5: Like I can understand, like he can play together. You're thinking, well,
- 52:30Speaker 5: next week, you know, the kids got something bets working.
- 52:35Speaker 5: You know, I should try to figure out something I
- 52:37Speaker 5: can do, Like to Fred's point, maybe paint a room
- 52:39Speaker 5: that needs to be painted or something like that. But
- 52:41Speaker 5: like I'm just talking about you. A pandemic hits and
- 52:46Speaker 5: no one has anything to do. You know, what do
- 52:49Speaker 5: you do? Like what most people did, they watched a
- 52:52Speaker 5: million shows on Netflix.
- 52:54Speaker 2: But Paul, and he even said it, that was some
- 52:56Speaker 2: of his best time during the pandemic. He was home
- 53:00Speaker 2: and he could paint and he would just didn't have
- 53:03Speaker 2: to be bothered by anybody, didn't have to come to work.
- 53:06Speaker 2: He literally loved it. He said it. He said, I
- 53:09Speaker 2: I thrived during the pandemic.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I never started these paintings. He was painter too.
- 53:13Speaker 5: I lasted a number week and a half and I
- 53:15Speaker 5: was like going insane. Yeh, I need like.
- 53:21Speaker 2: He loves being alone, just doing his thing.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Yea you know this cat?
- 53:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like that's why we do what we do,
- 53:27Speaker 4: is because we were people that don't need to be
- 53:29Speaker 4: going and doing things. Like if I had a job
- 53:31Speaker 4: where I was sitting at a cubicle all the time.
- 53:33Speaker 4: The pandemic was brutal for me. After like a week,
- 53:36Speaker 4: I was crawling out of my skin.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Yeah, well then you're a boring person.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Yeah, how can you be bored?
- 53:42Speaker 5: That's what he said to me.
- 53:43Speaker 4: I can only sit on the couch and watch Netflix
- 53:45Speaker 4: for so long.
- 53:46Speaker 5: It's just like iould watch the entirety of mad Men
- 53:48Speaker 5: during that time. That's like seven.
- 53:50Speaker 3: You made the most of it. It's a great one.
- 53:52Speaker 2: It was.
- 53:53Speaker 5: It's a really good show. But like it's not necessarily
- 53:55Speaker 5: a show I wanted to watch in like a week
- 53:57Speaker 5: and a half, like I got. I got through.
- 54:00Speaker 3: That was like Tiger King. I remember Tiger King in
- 54:02Speaker 3: Love is Blind.
- 54:03Speaker 5: I hated everybody watched Tiger King.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I just I did.
- 54:07Speaker 5: I did watch Ozark though during that tool that was good.
- 54:11Speaker 4: I haven't finished Ozark. I've seen like the first two
- 54:13Speaker 4: seasons maybe, but I haven't finished the last couple.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Robert has a quick question. Do you really make money
- 54:21Speaker 2: doing these podcasts? Can you expand on the subject. You
- 54:24Speaker 2: hear about podcasts hosts making millions of dollars per year. Well,
- 54:27Speaker 2: that's not us. No, we don't make money. The company
- 54:30Speaker 2: makes money.
- 54:31Speaker 5: Correct these reads that I do.
- 54:34Speaker 3: I don't do that for fun.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Believe it or not. Make money when I read. But
- 54:40Speaker 2: some podcasts do. But there are thousands of podcasts out there,
- 54:44Speaker 2: and thousands of them don't make any money.
- 54:47Speaker 3: No, yeah, I did one for a long time that
- 54:49Speaker 3: they had never any money. But I mean it's easy,
- 54:51Speaker 3: it's easy, right, like you just talk. I mean so
- 54:53Speaker 3: like this never feels like work to me, Like it's
- 54:55Speaker 3: always like what did you do today?
- 54:56Speaker 2: Well?
- 54:56Speaker 3: I did the podcast that didn't really feel like work
- 54:58Speaker 3: because you two hours.
- 55:01Speaker 2: The ones that are making money are the you know,
- 55:03Speaker 2: the celebrity ones that you know get good guests. Although
- 55:07Speaker 2: Edelman's been killing it lately.
- 55:08Speaker 4: Yeah, you know people, Yeah, celebrity.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a celebrity. He just just had ty Law.
- 55:13Speaker 3: I know he's got ty law. He's just running through
- 55:15Speaker 3: all the old Patriots.
- 55:17Speaker 4: Has Brady been on yet? I don't think.
- 55:19Speaker 2: So.
- 55:19Speaker 5: Does anybody know any details about that? Like his podcast, Like,
- 55:23Speaker 5: does anybody listen to it outside of like Patriots fans?
- 55:26Speaker 2: Oh, he does good promotion for it. I will say,
- 55:28Speaker 2: if you hated the Dynasty, then go watch Edelman's podcast.
- 55:31Speaker 2: You'll get all the stuff that you wanted in Dynasty.
- 55:35Speaker 5: I'm just curious if anybody other than.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Us, Right, that's a good question. I don't know. I
- 55:39Speaker 3: don't know, but it seems like they're pumping out the
- 55:42Speaker 3: content the video and I mean anything with that podcast.
- 55:44Speaker 4: Yeah. The Twitter account is very active, games with names,
- 55:47Speaker 4: reply to people and stuff.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's some good, good podcasts.
- 55:52Speaker 5: You guys get tweets from stuff like that. Yeah, and
- 55:56Speaker 5: I can't, like, I don't get any of that, and
- 55:59Speaker 5: I get all this other stuff that I don't describe.
- 56:01Speaker 4: So sorry, your algorithmic, I have I have a problem.
- 56:05Speaker 5: I'm sure it's.
- 56:07Speaker 2: On the Twitter. There's two tabs. Do you do the
- 56:09Speaker 2: for you or following both? You're both. Just go about
- 56:13Speaker 2: the following. Just stick with the following and then follow
- 56:16Speaker 2: more people. How many people do you follow?
- 56:20Speaker 4: I don't know his his Yeah, they got him. It's
- 56:25Speaker 4: algorithm's got him.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Now, I know, I know, I feel bad. He's got
- 56:28Speaker 3: a bad it's got him.
- 56:30Speaker 4: It's what exactly what I was referencing.
- 56:33Speaker 5: I can't let those go. How many am I following?
- 56:39Speaker 5: Four hundred and thirteen. That's a good amount. Yeah, that's
- 56:43Speaker 5: a good amount of pretty selective.
- 56:44Speaker 2: We get that.
- 56:45Speaker 5: Yeah, oh you got you come around a thousand. I
- 56:48Speaker 5: want to say I'm not but but I don't have
- 56:51Speaker 5: like again, we'll go back to Eric. I'm boring. I
- 56:54Speaker 5: don't have the interesting specifically that you have on Twitter. Yeah,
- 56:58Speaker 5: you probably have like all kinds of hall you would
- 57:00Speaker 5: tie you all right, But let me like and whatnot?
- 57:04Speaker 2: Do you follow everyone that covers the Patriots?
- 57:08Speaker 5: Not everybody? No?
- 57:09Speaker 2: Do that?
- 57:10Speaker 5: Why because your algorithm? But that's the stuff I don't want.
- 57:14Speaker 1: I know.
- 57:14Speaker 2: But it's not about reading their stuff necessarily. It's just no,
- 57:18Speaker 2: I get.
- 57:19Speaker 5: More Patriot stuff than I want, is my point. I
- 57:21Speaker 5: want to cut back on. You said you don't get
- 57:23Speaker 5: Julian Edelman. Well, I don't get that podcast thing. No,
- 57:26Speaker 5: I don't get.
- 57:27Speaker 3: You're big with the Fenwick kids, like getting scholarship shout out,
- 57:31Speaker 3: so you must get a lot of that stuff, like
- 57:32Speaker 3: Fenwick stuff, and I do.
- 57:34Speaker 5: I follow the Fenwick stuff, and I do like to
- 57:36Speaker 5: try because please don't make fun of me for this.
- 57:40Speaker 5: This is gonna sound really arrogant, Like I feel like,
- 57:43Speaker 5: no when like those kids, they're like eighteen year old kids,
- 57:47Speaker 5: they look up to you. No, no, no, no no. But
- 57:49Speaker 5: they probably have like forty followers. I have forty thousand,
- 57:53Speaker 5: So I feel like if I retweet them, people are
- 57:56Speaker 5: seeing it. No, that's good, that's what you want again,
- 57:58Speaker 5: I get it. You guys can make fun of me.
- 58:00Speaker 5: It sounds like nono, you're an enabler. They're they're my son.
- 58:04Speaker 5: They're all like you make it to me in some way,
- 58:07Speaker 5: they're my son's friends. And I'm happy for them, like
- 58:11Speaker 5: and I'm happy to do it, but I do. You're right,
- 58:13Speaker 5: I do.
- 58:14Speaker 2: But you should also follow every other team's account. I
- 58:18Speaker 2: don't even I don't I do.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Some of them are I don't have.
- 58:21Speaker 2: It's about a algorithm. It's not about them.
- 58:24Speaker 4: Listen. His algorithms all messed up. But like in a
- 58:27Speaker 4: good like it could be worse, but there could be
- 58:30Speaker 4: things on there that you don't want.
- 58:32Speaker 2: If there's somebody out there complaining about a ref, it's
- 58:34Speaker 2: in his timeline.
- 58:35Speaker 4: It gets so you know, Tamara is not here to
- 58:38Speaker 4: talk about the women's college basketball her ref complaining on
- 58:42Speaker 4: Sundays the legendary.
- 58:44Speaker 5: I will say, Zach, they completely handed that game to
- 58:46Speaker 5: something like they just decided there's no way we're letting
- 58:50Speaker 5: her lose. Like Don Staley was yelling at the refs
- 58:54Speaker 5: the whole game. In the last five minutes. They just
- 58:56Speaker 5: said every call is going to I mean, I don't
- 58:58Speaker 5: think I was going to win anyway. I don't think
- 59:00Speaker 5: the reps cost them the game. So let me just
- 59:02Speaker 5: state that up front. But the last five minutes of
- 59:04Speaker 5: that game, they just said, there's no way we're letting
- 59:06Speaker 5: South Carolina lose.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Yeah, who's that was that Cardoza?
- 59:09Speaker 2: That bad girl?
- 59:09Speaker 3: Oh she was tough, She's tough inside.
- 59:12Speaker 5: I watched the whole game. I was proud of myself.
- 59:13Speaker 5: I felt like I evolved by the.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Way last night. Zach, he's good, but he gets away
- 59:19Speaker 2: with murder. I mean, he gets away with murder.
- 59:22Speaker 5: They only got to the final because he gets away
- 59:24Speaker 5: with murder.
- 59:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he's That's the part I think that annoys me
- 59:27Speaker 4: about college basketball, which I do like it, But if
- 59:31Speaker 4: you have a guy that that's that big, there's just
- 59:34Speaker 4: only a select few of teams that have a guy
- 59:37Speaker 4: that can match that guy in the post, right, so
- 59:39Speaker 4: you can get all the way to the championship game
- 59:42Speaker 4: just because you have a seven foot two guy, and
- 59:44Speaker 4: you know these other.
- 59:44Speaker 5: Than finally played a team with a seven foot two
- 59:46Speaker 5: guys right right and blowing off the court exactly exactly,
- 59:49Speaker 5: and he got his I mean he had had a
- 59:51Speaker 5: lot of points.
- 59:52Speaker 4: I think at thirty seven I heard and I was like, yeah,
- 59:54Speaker 4: I did not see watching the game. It did not
- 59:57Speaker 4: feel like he scored the.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: The very beginning of the game, he was really good,
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: and I kept saying I was watching the game with Beth,
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: and I said, he's playing them perfectly. You don't need
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: to double, you don't need to do anything. Make him
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: take five foot jump hooks. He won't make enough of him.
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: And then he missed like eight shots in a row.
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: And that's when Yukon sort of took control the end
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: of the first half. And I didn't watch much of
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: the second half. Evidently Cruise control. It was a blowout
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: the whole second half. I did say it was. I
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: think there was eighteen when I when I fell asleep.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: And my guess is Edie scored all their points.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: He did, He scored half. I think at least I
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: think he scored thirty seven. The rest of the team
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: scored twenty three.
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's too bad.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: So I I just think the nine to twenty star
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: time is horrible.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: I get that, Like, what are we.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: Doing, Mike? You know how much of me, Like I
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: take two days off every year. Yeah, I don't watch
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: the final because I can't. I'll be a zombie and
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: I won't like I won't be able to do it.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: Right, Dan and Virginia in Michigan. You're right again, Fred,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: And enough with the mining every intellectual property in fiction
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: down to the mantle. I'm a huge Star Wars fan,
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: but I don't need the backstory of every single character.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: This is where I disagree. I love what they've been doing,
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: especially if you're going to make them all related to
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: each other. Who exactly was beating the drum for the
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: prehistory of Perry Mason, a TV character that was already
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: old when I was young. Small surprise that the prequel
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: to the Omen is tanking. The only backstory a prequel
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: that anyone is waiting for is growing up Perillo. When
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: is that coming out? Paul? I presume that the reason
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: we haven't seen anything yet is that Paul has decided
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: to skip the book and has gone straight to shopping
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: at around to all the studios, got some interesting buyers.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: He's for some context, we're talking about the House at
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: the Dragon coming back in June.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: I saw Fred's targarian.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Well, Fred says he's out, You're out.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not interested.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: I was kind of lukewarm on it, to be honest.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: The boss. Yeah, No, I mean I liked Game of Thrones,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: but I'm not really all I.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Love Game of Thrones, but I'm done. It's good. Yeah,
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: let's I'll leave it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: Leave because I like I like season two or season one.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: I I just think Game of Thrones the way it
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: ended so poorly for me that at least this was
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: this kind of all right, I can forget about how
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: awful the last season of Game of Thrones is and
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: start with something a little bit.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: It's very rare, like a show of that magnitude can
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: have the perfect ending. But kurby your enthusiasm. I haven't
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: seen it, but I heard the finale was brilliant.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Well it's also their second chance at the finale, right,
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: because he kind of stopped doing it, you know. Yeah,
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: I like came back, but yeah, the Game of Thrones
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: final season I'll never get over.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I didn't think it. I didn't think it was that bad.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Oh it was that bad, I did.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: I didn't think it was that bad.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: I just thought I thought there was some epic scenes,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: like when the mountain is, you know, fighting dog Patch
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: whatever his brother and then everyone and then Dog and
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: then the and then the scene where the scene where
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: he kills her and the dragon comes and takes her away,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: just like.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: The corniest crap I've ever said.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Come on, that was great.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Were you mad that that Denares had to turn to
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: the baths?
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Hide?
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: Absolutely? I mean power corrupts. Okay, but first of all,
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: first of all, you start watching the show, and let's
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: be honest, one of the attractions to the show early
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: on is her. So you're sitting there and you're red
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: blooded man, and you're watching the show and you start
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: to get into all the other characters and storylines, but
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: the first thing that draws you is a guy is like, Okay,
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: who's this this bond chick?
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: I like the zombies?
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Oh god, yeah, sure you did. And so we're watching
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: the show and then her turn is.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: I get that.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: They they tried to make it methodical, but it was
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: the last season was so rushed because of the situation
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: with the writers and stuff like that, that it just
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: all of a sudden, she's just committing genocide and just
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: burning the city to the ground, and you're just like,
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: where did this come from? Like this is unbelievable. Sound
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: like when they pick cool strange a little bit? Oh,
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: it was like that it was like, I'm.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Trying to read professionally.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: I mean to me, it was like, you know, all
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: her life, she knew she was getting short changed, you know,
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: and that's putting it mildly in her head. And when
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: she finally had it, she's like, I'm gonna get even
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: with everyone. I am going to be you know.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: By killing a million people.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Yeah, everyone is gonna everyone is going to bend their
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: need to me, you know. Finally that's it. And she
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: just got drunk with power.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: Awful awful ending.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: This is like me listening to basketball Paul.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: Anyway, that's her Game of Thrones.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: What happened in the final? Who was this guy?
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: Yeah? I wasn't as distraught as a lot of people.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: It's just it's a show. Yeah, fine, Nolan in California.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: I wanted to play a little draft game. We have
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: heard all the possible players, but for this game, for
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: each possible pick, predict what number they would wear and
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: their nickname. Oh jeez, Drake may ten ten, what's his nickname?
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: May Day?
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: May Day?
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: That's not good.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Means like you're in trouble the opponents.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: And when you're sink is shipping, When your ship is sinking,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: you say, may day.
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: Your opponent's in trouble.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Okay, the Drake, the Drake, Drake, I love the Drake. Yeah,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: You can't give a guy nickname. He's got to be
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: the Mayflower.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: He so not the fourth.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: The Mayflower is a good one. It's call on the fourth.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: It's regional, right, like if we had him like coming
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: on a ship that was like the supposed to be
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: the Mayflower.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: May Flower.
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: It's good.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: It's creative, okay, all right, JJ McCarthy number and nickname.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: We're single digits in college, right, I want to say
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: like nine right, yeah, yeah, nine.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: Nine nine Yeah, and JJ.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: It's just JJ.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: It's pretty simple.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's kind of pouring.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: Yeah. You don't think you'll earn a nickname now? It's JJ, okay? Uh,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Marvin Harrison Jr. Yeah it mads J.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: And number it's a tough one.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: Can't give him eighteen.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: Were eighteen in college? Got to be eighty eight, eight one,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: eighty one.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yea good receiver. Numbers Joe Alt.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Oh, it's got to be seventy six or seventy seven.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: I think, yeah, he's the seventies for sure. Seventies number.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: I think it's just Joe al he said, that's what
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: he is.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Alt ult. The best linemen have sing one syllable last name,
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Joe Thomas Joe. Well, that's two syllables, Thomas, right, the
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: greatest left tackle. Okay, that's it. That was the only
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: player see he listed.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: That's fun.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: I remember Andy trying to make g Force happen for
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Gronk when Gronk first got here. I remember Andy being
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: like g four, like, why are you making it like Gronk?
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: It's Gronk.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: He already had.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Easy right, non g force remember him?
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Yeah, didn't work.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: No, it didn't.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Oh Gronk. You can't get a better nickname than Groan,
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: my god.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Perfect name, or like Deuce. Yeah, well, you guys try
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: to call me d Train for a.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: While, I really wanted to. I really wanted to call
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: the sexual assault.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: I was a good one. I was a good one.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: I think that was a nick baby love thing that
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: was not liked Train.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: I remember, you guys, you have a nickname like I
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: don't know, people kind of call me Douce.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: It took a little while to come around, and then Nick.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Used to call my guy d Train.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I love my holy Cross. Uh, Ray writes in two questions. One,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: could you see us still double dipping in wide receiver
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: in the draft giving how many receivers we have?
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, sure, Yeah, I mean I I think I
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: just feel like it's going to be a competition there
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: and there's I think there's gonna be I don't want
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: to let's say good players get cut, but I mean,
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: like a guy like Juju, I mean, you know, I
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: will say too. I don't know if people saw the video,
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: if you guys already talked about this, but you know,
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: first day of school, but.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Just good to see judea on in the building was
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: something we talked about. You know, he was here, you
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: know Juju. Just seems like they had good attendance overall.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: Saw a lot of the you know, returning players, Gonzales,
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: Jonathan Jones, you know, it just seems like there's most
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: of the team.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: So so why is that good?
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: Just you know, everybody's here.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: I'll tell you why.
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: Players players practicing. That's good.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: They're lifting, they're getting they're getting camaraderies.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: It's interesting.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: I'll tell you why.
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: It's interesting. It's good that they come and they work
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: out and they start to learn interesting take. Did you
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: take an extra week of it? I tend to agree
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: with you. It's interesting.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Remember when was it? Butch Hobson became manager of the
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Red Sox and the first thing Roger Clemens did was
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: challenge him like like he you know, prison or something like.
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: Not really A serious question is why it's good that
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: they're actually working out?
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: No, but I know what you're know what you were
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: trying to do. I know what you were trying to Dodo,
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: But I so far it doesn't look like any of
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: the veterans are like not going to be there, you know,
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: which would be a challenge to Mayo, you.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Know, I mean it's coming from from Henry and and
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Pepper's though. I mean, and predictably it's it's a big
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: piece of him being a former player. I think that's
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: the biggest thing for a lot of these guys, is
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: you know. I mean you've heard a time and again
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: since Mayo took over the job that there's just an
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: innate level of respect for you know, any coach that
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: that actually, in Hunter Henry's word, sat where where we
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: see it sit so and I was interesting though they
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: asked them some questions about changes and you know, they
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: they weren't really very forthcoming with what those changes are,
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: but you could tell that that there's some significant changes
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: around there so far of you know, you know specifically
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: about like pictures and that kind of stuff. I mean
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: even you know that old sign when you come here
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: that was on the inside of the door lead, I
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: mean that's gone. So it's a you know, it's a
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: full full change, full change.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: Well, well, speaking of change, we have announced that Christian
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: Gonzalez has switched to number zero. We have that is now,
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: so we're going to uniforms and also Trevor store right
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: out for the season.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: So what happened a story? I just watched him a
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: couple of days ago shoulder.
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: Having surgery for the year, fell on it, yep, dive.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: The second question that Ray had is in what way
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: could you see Taekwon positively benefiting from this new offense.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: I don't know, man, Well, no.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: I will say, just I'm not doing Taekwon again. I'm
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: not I'm not letting him trap me. I'm not gonna
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: go out there and watch him run around in shorts
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: and T shirt and oh speed, not doing it again.
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: But in this offense, you do have to have clear
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: out routes to hit the routes that they're actually trying
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: to throw the ball to. So someone's got to go
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: out there and run a wind spring. Yeah, someone's got
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: to do it. And I guess if they don't upgrade
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: that spot and they just need somebody to run the
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: post just to occupy the post, then I guess you
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: can't do much worse than a guy that can run
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: it for two. But like that, he's not being targeted
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: on the play. He's creating the space for the people
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: that are being talking.
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: So I'll I'll take the cheese and I'll even take
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: it a step further from what Evan just said. And
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: in that offense, when you're you know, they say they
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: want to run the ball and they want to you know,
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: do things under center, off hard play action and take shots.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: If he can't get open on those, what are we doing? Yeah,
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: like he should be able to make a big play
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: or two.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the offense in Cleveland at least, is they
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: they use play action to set up vertical shots. It's
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: not play action to hit this crosser over the middle
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: of the field. It's play action to hit the deep
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: routes with the single high safety and that things like that.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: So in theory, you're gonna get favorable matchups down the
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: field for speed guys, and that's Taekwon.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Ford in Savannah says number three. Overall picks have worked
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: out well for the region with Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Now we have another potential promising pick and Drake May. However,
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: I could see likely busts in the top two picks
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: if it goes Caleb Williams and Jayden dan Caleb Williams
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: because the Bears and Jayden Daniels might end up like
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: RG three in Washington, who was in sensation until he
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: forgot to slide. I believe that Drake May, as the
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: lucky number three, has the potential to be the best
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: pick and lead our franchise towards competitive success once again.
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: Yeah, not to nitpick, but he injured himself sliding on
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: bad turf. That's how we originally got his knee injury.
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: Has there been a good RG three thirty for thirty
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: style doc on all that, because that would be fascinating.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: He's really good with them in the media, so I'm
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: sure he would be good at talking about it. I'd
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: watch that.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: I remember it was just like them drafting Cousins too
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: at the same time, Like there was just a lot,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: like you know, and then Cousins when Cousin came, mean,
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: he was great his rookie year, and yeah, a lot
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: going on with that. And I mean that was like
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: the Shanahan thing too, right, It was all those guys
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: like McVeigh ruined him and everybody.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: He insisted on playing him when he was nowhere near
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: one hundred percent, and then he hurt himself further on
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: that terrible turf.
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: Stylistically, and I know, you know, I try to compare people,
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: most of them to current quarterbacks, so they know. People
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: my generation and younger probably don't remember RG three very
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: well as a player. But I think Jayden Daniels stylistically
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: is the closest to RG three than he is to
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: let's say, Lamar Jackson, you know, just in terms of
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: the way that he runs like he's not Lamar is slippery,
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: like he's elusive. Jayden Daniels is more straight line explosiveness.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: So I would say that RG three is probably a
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: decent comp and size comp too.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: I think his rookie year Thanksgiving against Washington, he absolutely
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: destroyed I just I think that's the game that kind
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: of stands out. If i'm you know, you know me,
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: I probably RG three. Yeah, Like he was just so
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: explosive and they couldn't stop him. Dallas couldn't start. I
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: think it was that that year on Thanksgiving, they just
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: couldn't stop them.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Grant and Minnesota. You guys playing that little rookie numbers
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: game made me think, is Slater's number retireble? I know
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: people hate that. Gronks eighty seven still gets used from
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: time to time, and I'm wondering if you guys feel
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: that way about some of these recent player numbers, great
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: player numbers.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: I'm anti retire numbers.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: I mean not in football.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: No, I think it's it's still fun to see those
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: numbers continue to get circulated. And you know, I just,
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: I mean, I'm with you. I think, like retire twelve
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: and then like put everything belt back in.
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: That's how I am for all sports. I think it
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: needs to be reserved for special, like really really special occasions.
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: But you know that cats out of it.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: Well. The problem with the Patriots they started doing it
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: before they really had anybody. They thought those people were special, yeah,
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: and then they saw what special is with Tom Brady
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: is like, oh wait a minute, maybe those guys weren't
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: that special.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: You know, I don't know, I just I mean, I
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: I feel more honored when you the numbers are still
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: being seen and you can talk about those players still,
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: Like I mean, I'll use fifty as an example, and
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: it's been a little bit of a dry spell for that,
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: but you know, going from like Fable to Ninkovich and
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: you know we been with fifty five too, a little
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: bit with that one, you know, just those numbers like.
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: F priskin High Tower. Yeah, I think, like, you know,
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: I look at twenty four for corners. You know, you
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: have you have Law and Revs and Gilmour and I
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: you know, I was kind of hoping that Gonzo would
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: take twenty four to be honest, just to continue to
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: pass the torch, you know that that sort of thing.
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: Like I think that those that is cool, you know.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: But it's like you never remind fifty five at USC Yeah,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: you know, it's.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: The rest of the non number guy. Yeah, I agree
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: with that. I think it's better when they stay in circulation.
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: You have sort of a tradition.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: With a number.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it reminds you. I mean think like twenty you know,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: it's like, who realizes now, yeah, twenty was, well, it.
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: Was different, right, like, and every franchise has I don't
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: know a half dozen guys that are different, you know.
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: I mean, first of all, Hall of Famer should be
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: minimum minimum accomplishment. Yeah, like you know, the Celtics get
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: a lot of heat for that, and almost every one
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: of those guys is in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I did. I did that a few years ago
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: with the Celtics because I looked up one night at
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: the game and I was like, how many. It's ridiculous,
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: But you go through them and you're they're like these
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: kinds of guys.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: I think there's like three or four of them that
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: aren't in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, my boy, Reggie
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: is one of them.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: By the way, JJ wouldn't be able to wear nine
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: because Judon has it. But I think, but I think
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: you guys said some single digit numbers for him, and
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: I just said that's where I think hears at Michigan.
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: It is, yeah, but maybe he's six now six open.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: So the Aaron said that Joe Alt's nicknames should be
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Joe Alt.
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: Delete, Delete your past rush.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: Not bad like that. I'll delete your past rush. I
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: like it.
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: That's yes, that's the joke, Mike, I got you.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: I had to explaining it. Appreciate it.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: Richet in Newfound Lake says, curious how you feel about
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: the role of Matthew Slater type players moving forward with
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: the new kickoff rules? So how will it affect core
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: special teams guys that's all they do.
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: I mean, it's I mean, there's probably a real deep
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: dive there, you know. I mean I always thought Slater
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: more on punt team, where he could use his speed
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: to get down the field and and you know, cover
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: the kick. But I wonder if you have as much,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: you know, maybe you're you're skewing a little bit more
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: away from guys who have long speed on kickoffs for
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: the ability to get down there, And maybe you need
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: guys that are a little bit smarter and maybe a
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: little bit more better tacklers because you're not gonna you know, really,
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: you're kind of in a tighter window. It's not like
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: you're sprinting down trying to angle a guy. It's more
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: you're almost holding your gap like you do on defense.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: I have to see it. I don't mean that that'll
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: that'll be the most telling thing. But it's something interesting
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: to watch this year for sure.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there's a chance that And I'm not
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: normally the special teams guy. I leave that to barth
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: on Catch twenty two, Like I don't do special teams,
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: but this actually does intrigue me because it's something different
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: that we're gonna have to see how to team scheme it,
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: like how do you coach against it? And I think
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: we're gonna see a lot of it in the spring
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: and the summer out at CAM practices and stuff like that,
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: because they have to. They have to practice it and
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: have to figure out how exactly you're going to do it.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: And you look at you know, the XFL and some
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: of the other LEAs it's been in. There's reverses, there's
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: like rugby style pitches, Like there's different things for the
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: return team too that you know, maybe you put Rager
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: and Marcus Jones back there at the same time and
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: then they you know, they have options to to pitch
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: it to one another, reverse the field or whatever. You know,
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: there's all sorts of different things that that teams have
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: done with it. So I think that that part early
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: on in the season, like in September, there's a chance
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: that there's a lot of returns that that go.
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: Don't you feel like they're gonna sky those kickoffs like
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: inside the ten, like to the moon, to.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: Give them as much time as possible.
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: Yeah, like they're are. Like I agree with what Evan said.
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: I don't really know exactly how it's gonna unfold, but
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: I think I think it's gonna have unintended consequences. I
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: think guys are gonna get lit up. Yeah, because I
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: think this is gonna be such a condensed space. All
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: ten guys are going to be right there, and I
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: think if you kick it high, you have to kick
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: it in that landing area that limits the amount of time.
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: Like the fair catch is gone, right, that fair catch
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: in the field of play touchback, they eliminated that, correct, correct, Yes,
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: I think everybody's gonna kick him high, make you catch
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: it at the ten and get killed.
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's well, it's like a punt. Yes, Now it's
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: more a punt than it is a kickoff.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: To Paul's point, Yeah, let's see Paul about he has
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: an email about the recent shows. The recent shows with
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: the phones out of order have been amazing. The dialogue
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: among you, the emails and in reaction to them, and
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: the characters that you are make a phenomenal show slash podcast.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: The Boss, the local charismatic scribe, the straight man, the
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: rain man with the bonus when ladies participate is becoming
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: your best iteration yet. So who are these people? I mean,
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: I'm the boss, who's the local charismatics scribe? It could
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: be any of you guys.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: That's me?
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: And who's the straight man?
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: Mike?
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: Mike? And you're the rain man? Yes, okay, because I
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: would say Paul's a rain man too, No with his
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: memory now sometimes. Thank you for all the highly entertaining
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: episodes you provide. Your advertisers may have my business.
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: I'm would they look like you used to call scry cry.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: I told you I've been trying to con I've been
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: trying to sneak that into my into posts like just
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: to you know, well, the scribes. You know what do
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: we know?
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: Ryan in Nebraska?
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: Paul, Ryan, you've.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Been saying lately that if you like a player, take
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: him and don't trade back, hoping to get him for
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: better value in your mind, How does that vibe with
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: your other stated belief that BB should not have taken
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: Strange because he could have been gotten later. Can you
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: explain then.
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: Five rounds later, not eight picks later, that.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: He was going there was a team in the thirties
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: that really wanted him, Paul, That's what I've been told,
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: I mean, been off the board.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the difference.
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: Like what I'm saying is if if you like Michael
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: Pennix and you say, well, I'm just going to trade
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: with Minnesota back to the eleventh spot and take Panis,
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: don't run the risk for eight picks. Just take and
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: I understand the value. It's a risk reward. The reward
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: is I get Panis plus somebody else. You know, I
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: get it. But to me, that's not worth the risk.
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: I'm sorry, all due respect to everybody involved, Cole Strange
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: is not the same thing here. Like a lot of
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: people thought he was a Day three pick early Day three,
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: to the point where the defending Super Bowl champion coach
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: was laughing about it, and.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: He was laughing about it, regardless of what he said
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: to backtrack that he was laughing at us.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: It should have been I know it might have been
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: drunk to I agree.
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: They were, Oh, I confirmed they would dropping. I talked
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: to somebody.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: About that, Scott Virginia. A point was made on the
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: Rich Eisen Show about McCarthy that I hadn't heard yet.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: Rich Eisen really unbiased JJ McCarry.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: During Andrew Luck's first season at Stanford, that offense was
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: run very similar to this year's Michigan team. Luck really
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: didn't sling it like he did the following two years,
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: when it seemed like the offense was more in David
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: Shaw's hands than Harbaugh. How much stock do you guys
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: take in Harbaugh's coaching style when grating McCarthy some.
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely. Now I don't think that he just ran
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: the ball in San Francisco. Now, he did run the ball.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: They had Greg Roman back in those days, and then
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: that's when they made the transition from Alex Smith, who
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: ran a lot more in San Francisco than he did
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: later in his career, and then he turned it over
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: to Kaepernick. So he wants to run the ball. I
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: don't think there's any I don't think anybody would really
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: argue that Harball believes in running the football and being
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: physical upfront. But I think they threw the ball less
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: last year than he has in the past.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't. The volume of the throws doesn't concertainly
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: bother me all that much because when I watch these guys,
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: I'm more looking at the traits of what, you know, what,
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: what can these guys do? I think, you know, other
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: people look at it differently, and that's fine, and just
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: they look at okay, what you know, situations like what
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: was this guy in this game at this moment, you know,
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: and stuff like that. I don't necessarily think that stuff
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: translates from college to the pro game. You know, the winning,
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: you know, the clutch time stuff like this guy's this
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: guy's got You know what I'm worried about with Drake
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: may he doesn't you know, he didn't rise to the
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: occasion against Clemson. Well, his team was also at an
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: extreme talent disadvantage, and he looked up and it was
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: thirty to nothing, like I. You know, so I don't
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: necessarily put as much stock in so I don't use
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: it as a knock against JJ, Like I don't worry
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: that JJ McCarthy had only attempted X amount of passes
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: and somebody attempted why because that you can still just
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: watch the throws, you know that he does that he did.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: Make Let's see this is Peter listening to last Thursday show,
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: and I couldn't help laugh when Ernie was brought up.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: Mike brought up how essential Ernie was to Bill. I
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: laughed in my myself because it appears Bill wasn't a
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: good coach. To succeed, he needed to have Brady and
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: Ernie joking. I think finally I ran out a podcast
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: to listen to and I went back to April twenty
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: twenty two. Yes, I'm a loser. The shows are still entertaining,
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: especially hearing the draft before you guys know who was
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: going to be taken quote from Paul before Strange was picked,
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: you know they'll be getting a good player. I was
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: impressed with Paul's optimism and PS, I really miss Brian
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: and that drafter. PS. I really miss Brian and Indiana
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: him picking on Mike his CARW.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: No, I don't miss him. He scares me.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: Yeah, we all get him wrong, man, I can't I apologize.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: Jack says J. J. McCarthy's nickname should be Schwaby. JJ
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: sounds like the name of a stockbroker. Schwab is a
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: major brokerage house, Hence JJ should be called Schwaby. It's
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: a long way at Grandma's house.
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: I'm not sure I would invest in a guy named
- 1:24:54Speaker 5: JJ yeah. With a guy named jj yeah.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Reno says, you think I should spend more money on
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: a new Gonzo jersey. I got myself this number six
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: jersey a few months ago. I know you all think
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: it's done for a grown man to have a jersey,
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: but honestly I have. I have fifteen. I plan on
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: getting May if we draft him too.
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: Fifteen's a lot, but it's not them.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: I wish I wish they had a deal where they.
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Could just swap it out for it now jersey swaps.
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: You know players changed their number after a certain.
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: Well, there is a I don't know when the rule applies,
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: but there are rules about the players didn't have to
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: buy out the.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: Stock, right is that inventory?
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: I don't know if that happens with a with a
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: second year player like gonz I don't know if there's
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: like a you know, I.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: Think it's an NFL rule.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: It's not a Patriots well because Kirk Cousins, Kyle Pitts
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: offered Kirk Cousins eight, which is Kirk Cousins' number. That
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: he's worn throughout his career, and the NFL was going
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: to make Kyle Pitts buy all of the Kyle Pitts
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: Eights jerseys that are an inventory and it was going
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: to be like one hundred thousand dollars worth of jerseys
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: or something like that. So they ended up not doing it.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: He's like, send them to some random country and then
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: you know, you just know that's they're all big Kyle
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: Pitts fans. There you go.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Sam in Toronto has a response to Paul on the
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: kickoff rule. He says skying the kick wouldn't make a
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: difference because the players can't move until the kick is caught.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: But they're already downfield. They don't need to move. That's
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: my point, right.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: But what's the difference of the trajectory of the ball
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: if they're already there?
- 1:26:27Speaker 5: Yeah? I mean I get your point, but I think
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: you're kind of looking up and you don't get a
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: chance to see where the holes are gonna. I don't know,
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: You're right. No, he's right.
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: He makes a good point.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: Listen.
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: I he makes a good point. I didn't think of
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: it that way.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: I want to see what happens and I, like I said,
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: I'd love to see what Bill Belichick and Ernie Adams
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: would cook up having a preseason to look at this
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: rule and what they could do to exploit it.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: Especially I just interest, like you know, a guy who's you're.
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: I like to see what they would do to exploit it.
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: But that's a good point that he made because I
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: didn't really think that they couldn't move, and that is
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: part of it.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: I just wonder as a special teams coordinator, like where
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: do you kind of start with trying to figure it out?
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: Do you start on the kickoff or do you start
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: on the return? And you know, how do you kind
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: of pop that completely?
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: I guess it's going to eliminate the touch back either. No, well,
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: there are going to be teams. I assume they're like,
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: we're not dealing with any of this.
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: You can't figure it out?
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: Just five yards?
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: I mean yeah?
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: Samir from Maine, long story short, I have a set
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: of three year old twins and every night for bedtime,
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: my wife or I will go with them to their
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: room and lay down in the same room until they
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: fall asleep. Last Friday, I was listening to the Thursday
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: Show in my ear pods, and it must have dozed
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: off because all of a sudden I wake up to
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: they're not ready yet in my ear with Paul referring
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: to the coaching staff and them not meeting yet. Love
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: the show, Keep up the grave war.
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: Sorry if I kept the twins.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: That sound dirty.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, so Josh has the same question.
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: It sound dirty, damn it.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: Josh has the same question about the swap, the Jersey swap.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: He got a Gonzales six and he's wondering if you
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: could trade it in for a discount or something like that.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: I think you should be able to do that.
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: Or you could just take some tape and close to
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: zero to zero done.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Edited, or maybe they'd have a service where they could
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: well some of these. If it's stitched on, you could.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: Win if you closed it. Paul technically just trying to
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: the people.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Let's see l says that other emailer is absolutely right.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: The shows without callers have been great. Some of the
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: callers are pretty good. I won't lie, but too many
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: of them just calling and go. I was wondering what
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: you would think we could do it three as if
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: they had never listened to a minute of the show before.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: I like their callers.
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: Yeah, so definitely, I like to spar with the callers.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Let's see. Todd is making fun of Andy Hart's
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: show because they don't do the quick answer section. Right.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: He says it's rather drab. Okay, but he says that's based,
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: you know. He says that's because of the people answering.
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: It's drap. But he likes quick answer things.
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: The Lightning Round.
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and he has three do you want to do them? Okay?
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: They have to be quick. Who is going to be
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: in the super Bowl next season? Caveat You cannot choose
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Casey or San Francisco?
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: Cincinnati and I got nothing.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: That's NFC Cincinnati, Green Bay.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Okay. I like that.
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: I had to go quick. I don't know.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: I like that, Paul, Yeah, I like I like Cincinnati.
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: And I said, you guys all took that. So just
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: to be different, I'm going to say, uh, Buffalo and
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: what of Dallas?
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: They took a step back.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: To get patri fans.
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: Cincinnati was my pick. They both picked.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: I love that. You just picked Buffalo perfect.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: Yes, they don't even have digs anymore.
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: And you would say that that's edition by subprisactly.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: No, I don't hold me to this one. This isn't
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: my official pick, but I'll say Jets, Jets.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: Yeah, he's afraid of the Jets. I am, you're afraid.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: I'm afraid of the Jets.
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: Their whole season rides on a forty one year old.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: I think I think they've got to think they've got
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: to him. They've got a team in waiting, and all
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: they were waiting.
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: For was a quarterback.
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: And he's forty one years old and.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Broke and broken? Why why is he broken?
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: Because they're covering from that injury at that age is
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: not easy.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: In today's age, today's well, just before.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: They had Ayuahaska.
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: I'm just I'm just.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: I mean, I hope you're right.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: I'm just defending the wall.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: I hope he comes out and falls flat in his face.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: But I got a feeling he's gonna be just to
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: To be clear, my pick of Buffalo don't don't third.
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: It means I have them at best third in the
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: AFC because I couldn't pick Kansas City.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: Yeah right, And I don't bring the logic into this year.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: I didn't want to take Cincinnati, so Buffalo will be
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: my favor pick and I am. I am wholeheartedly. I
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: do not believe Buffalo is done. I think that's done.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: I know, I agree with you shall I think though
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: that we're fink Fred like that's gonna be like the
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: Peter King, like my Super Bowl pick the Jets, Like
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: that's going to be something outside the you know, Houston
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: will be his pick, right, but he's retired down there.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: I did.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: I did laugh at a lot of like right after
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: the Digs trade, he was still working. The AFC East
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: is wide open, wide open, Okay, I mean it's wide
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: open for Miami Jets and Buffalo.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: Door open for Jets in Miami.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: And yeah, yeah, Buffalo.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Buffalo took probably a step back to the pack.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: All Right, this isn't much of a lightning round because
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: we're only on question too. I forgot about the light
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: Which quarterback in this class will have the best career
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: caveat You cannot choose Caleb Williams, Drake may or Jayden Daniels.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: Michael Pennock.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: That's who the emailer picks.
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: Joel Milton, Okay, Michael, Yeah.
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: I think I think Penix is that one makes the
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: most sense out.
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: Of blowing blowing teams away with his mental acumen, leadership.
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: Penis, He's right, he has to write the plays on
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: lowing them away. Paul, you can't remember the plane that
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: level of leadership in their lives. I like Panis me too.
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: I'm just I think he's the best passer. I said
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: that about two months ago. I think he's the best
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: passer in the draft.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: Finally, which subpart NFL team will be over five hundred
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: this season? You already got my answer, Patriots? No, I
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: said the Jets.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: You know, Oh, like I got you.
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: I was going to turn it around. Yeah, Atlanta.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Really good.
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: That's a good, good one, A really good pick.
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: I'm just going to say Atlanta too because I'll say Chicago. Oh,
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: you like Caleb that much?
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: No, I just wanted to take someone different.
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: Zach and spring Field. Speaking of Jersey swaps and merchandise,
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: is it true that the Patriots sent the nineteen and
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: O merchandise to third world countries? I think that's true.
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: I believe that's the way it works.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, all the all the Super Bowl runner ups already
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: have merchandise created, and when they lose, they send it away,
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: you know, for free to people.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: Did you guys have a bunch of PFW covers that
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: you had to send send.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: Yeah, where we wait till the game is over.
- 1:33:27Speaker 5: We don't until the game is As matter of fact,
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: we wait ten minutes after the game is over before
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: Fred gives the go ahead to get.
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: We have an on site printer that does it right
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: after the.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: Game shredding going on.
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: Yes, we made sure we kept that the nocks thing. Yes,
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: of a box full of you know, things that might
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: indicate a special season, right.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: A season two.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Remember, Bradley writes in JJ never had the luxury of
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: great play calling, especially on third downs. He's great at
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: play action over the twenty to thirty yard zip passes,
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: also excels at passing to tight ends and over the middle.
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: Needs to improve with touch plays. Well, there's no punctuation.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: Here, some run on sentence.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, literally, there's not a period to be found. So
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: I don't know. He thinks he could be good.
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: I think it could be good. I just don't think
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: he's like he's not. He doesn't have the physical upside
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: to me to be a savior.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: Like.
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: I don't view him as like that guy is going
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: to be the Patriots c J. Stroud that we're just
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: going to draft this guy, and all of a sudden,
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: we're gonna go from a four win team to a
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: playoff team and everything's going to be great. If you're
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: the Minnesota Vikings and you just need him to distribute
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: the ball to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and t J.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: Hockinson and all these players, then I think that he
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: could be really a serviceable, functional starter in the league.
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: I don't think that he's coming here and changing the
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: fortunes of the franchise.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: That's it, Mike in the OC. What's that Orange Coulenges County, Okay.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Welcome to the OC. I wanted to ask why there
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: has been no check or even rumors that there could
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: be a trade up for Chicago's pick. Is it just
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: a foregone conclusion that Chicago will not trade that pick
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: under any circumstances?
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: Would pretty much?
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: When you trade Justin Field, you're basically making that declaration.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: Living here in so cal I'm a little biased in
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: wanting to trade up and take Caleb rather than be
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: at the mercy of whatever quarterback has left over after
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: Washington's pick. I get that Deuce and Evan have gotten
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: me hype for taking May If he's still available. However,
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: when I watch Caleb Williams, I just see Patrick mahomes
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: potential and I want that potential on our team now.
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: Yeah, so do the Chicago Bears.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I know what would be the trade package you
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: would have to offer Chicago to get the first overall pick.
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: I've already got what two top ten picks.
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: I mean, I think in order to get you know,
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: every first overall pick is traded differently in order to
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: get the first round pick that's going to be Caleb Williams.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: I think you're talking about probably two future first rounders
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: right three and yeah, twenty twenty five and twenty twenty
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: six first round pick to move up because he's considered
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: on that echelon of I know Paul hates the work generational,
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: but in that that elite, elite tier. So you're gonna
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: have to give up.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: Double elite everything. Fresnel, Fred, don't worry. The Jets will
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: find a way to be the Jets. Which would be
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: which would be your favorite outcome for them? That they
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: sucked the entire season somehow, or that they look great
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: and then flame out towards the end of the regular
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: season and miss the playoffs. By a fingernail. The ladder.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: I want them to suck the whole season.
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: I mean, how much would that would be? The former
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: then the former? I just I would go with the ladder.
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: Former they finally think they have three months of excitement
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: and now like maybe he tweaks them kill.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: Because that three months.
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: I don't I don't like.
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: Yes, like that to me would be worse than you're
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: you're rooting for injury.
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: No, that's that's a fad thing.
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: No, see, I want this is like me rooting for
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: blowouts when I watch the Patriots. I want suck, suck,
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: suck for the Jets.
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: I think I think it'd be better to watch them
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: and get all excited for you only to have the
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: rug pulled out.
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: Well that was what was sorry but kind of funny
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: about last year. Like the preseason hype was big seconds.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: Can you imagine how much worse that would have been
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: if they were like eleven and two when that happened.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: Well, it's funny because the people I saw, people Jets
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: fans reported like talking about that. Would you rather what happened,
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: which is that it happened so quickly that the season's
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: over and in four seconds? Or would you rather your
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: you know, your way of it. That we had Rogers
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: for a little while, and then.
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: I could see both ways, Fred's way, you know. I
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: mean you could say I could see that too. It's
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: you know, they had no enjoyment at least if you
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: got hurt at the end, you had, you know, a
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: few months of enjoyment.
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: Right and then. And then you'd also have a little
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: bit of different perspective on this season because you already
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: kind of saw it work before, and now you're going
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: to add some more talent to that equation and Rogers
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: comes back, you'd have even more ampy.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: I want it to the point where even New Jersey
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: doesn't want them in the state. I I I nothing,
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: nothing good can leave. Yeah, Brett's say, I really think
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: you've got to. You got to let Deuce make his
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: jokes and try not to shame him. After years of
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: Andandy's lowest possible common denominator jokes, Deuce's jokes are practically subtle.
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: Let Mike rip it up. What happens, I don't know,
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: I don't feel stifled.
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: Let him cook.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: Sometimes I have little a little joke that I that
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: I slip under that nobody acknowledges. But then something right
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: in and I do to admit.
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but I don't think we shame you.
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: No, I've never been right.
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: I gotta so you guys continue. I have things I
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: have to take care of. There's more show to go
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: as you just over to step out to do the
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: rest of the work and basically do all the work
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: that Fred takes half the show off.
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: Back to the o C.
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you watch a little bit. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: I like the first season. Yeah, that's always you know,
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: do they have one right now? It's always a gossip girl.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: There's always like Beverly Hills nine to two or O.
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: Or the O C.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: There's always like that kids show that's hot, and I
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: don't think there is one right now.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: Or maybe what's that gossip Girl? Was good?
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: Fred's stuck that they built the Oh we could just
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: show what happened. Just watched this for a second here,
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: get out.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: Evidently that's what they were drilling on the door. Because
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: Fred can't open the door, you.
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: Can't close it either. This that's going to be a problem. Yeah,
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: this is live radio, folks, and live video.
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: So this is the business we've chosen.
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: So this is the big makeover. We talk about the studio.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: The door instead of closing, it won't close.
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: An is that drilling that we heard earlier?
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: Oh, Fred opened it, he fixed it, and I bet
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: it's not going to close and wow, nope, all right,
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: little breeze.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: I think we should just try to kick it.
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: What was the what was.
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: The Sydney Sweeney Show on HBO that that that wasn't
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: that kind of euphoria?
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: Euphoria but no, but euphoria is super dark though, like it.
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: You know, those shows that you're talking about are like,
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: you know, happy good everybody's rich and good looking, good
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: news for a lot. You just destroyed something very very
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: very different type of show, like scripted drama, dark show.
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: There isn't one right now. Really I always enjoy those ones.
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean nine two oh was my wheelhouse? Like
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: that's I was. I was. I was heavy into that
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: and then my brother, my brother would had had like
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: first gotten married, and I you know, it was like
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: the best, like, yeah, go over. You know, I had
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: never had any food in my apartment, so I went to,
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: Oh you got is it?
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: Six six? I thought you guys would be done eating
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: by now. I would I would eat Thursday nights religiously.
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: I would go over, I would eat, and then we'd
- 1:40:46Speaker 5: watch it. My brother would be like, if Brandon and
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: Kelly don't get back together this week, I'm quitting the
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: show forever. And then the next week you would say
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: the same thing.
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: Dawson's Creek.
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: I watched a little with.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: Dawston's a little bit before my time, but I like,
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: sort of I think shows nowadays are are all these
- 1:41:02Speaker 4: like Love is Blind and like all these Netflix reality shows. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: I feel like that's the phenomenon shows right now, and
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: that realm is more about the the Love is Blind
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: type of show.
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: It is funny how those shows, the the people on
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: those shows tend to go on to big careers like
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: on Love is Blind, no, no, no, no, on like oh
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: on those shows, you know, the shows that Duce is
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: talking about, like Gossip Girl.
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: Right, and they're already all like twenty six when they
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: do the shows.
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know Dawson's Creek. They're all turned out
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: to be pretty, but they're young at the time, and
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: they all turn out to Oh there's like one pretty.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: Like Andrea who was like thirty six at the time.
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: Remember that could be like the mom like Shan Doherty,
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: like she turned out to be a pretty big Jenny Garth,
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: you know, Jason Priestley.
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: They all had good careers after that.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: Yeah, which not the.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: Like we're in full of season mote. Here at the
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: second Fred walks out the kids and this.
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: Is what happens. I like, for the purpose of this show,
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: I'm referring to myself as one of the kids. That's
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: okay to young at heart, don't at me.
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: You guys watch anything right now in the try to watch.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: I just tried to win tree Hill.
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no, tree Hill was that was That was
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: my generation and it's a rough show.
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: Does is there still the c W Does that still
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: exists the channel?
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: No, it does. Yes, I think it exists, but I
- 1:42:34Speaker 5: don't think it's a network.
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: Right, They don't do that. They don't do those shows.
- 1:42:37Speaker 5: Like the All Americans on that channel to right all American?
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: It might be Riverdale was on that cha.
- 1:42:44Speaker 5: Like the Spencer Pacingers show. They are American, right watch.
- 1:42:49Speaker 5: I've watched a little bit. It was good until they
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: killed off the father.
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: No spoiler. Follow everybody on Twitter. I think that's one
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: where Hey Diggs follows you on Twitter everybody. I think
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: he follows everything he does follow me.
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: No, I haven't looked.
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: It's not in your algorithm. I tried to watch Manhunt,
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: which is the John Wilkes booth on Apple Okay, and
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: I can.
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: Well, I think that's kind of, you know, doing away
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: with a lot of those shows because it's something for
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: everything on on some kind of streaming service.
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: Yeaheah, yeah, yeah, I don't know. We don't. We're actually
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: in a little bit of a what's it called, like, yeah,
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: like there's a lull of you know, there's some shows
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: that we're looking forward to coming back maybe at the
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: end of the month or next month, but or you know,
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: has to Dragon for me, just not Big House of Dragon?
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: Is it because of the strike? The writer's strike? I
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: mean that that must have backed things up. I'm kind
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: of off of this schedule right now.
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: Maybe the other thing is, as much as I love
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: all these Netflix shows and stuff like that, there are
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: usually only ten episodes, and they're starting to stagger them
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: now more of how they release them, so it's not
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: all at once anymore. But still it's it's not like
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: you're sitting down like the shows we're talking about Back
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: in the day, those were like, you know, twenty five
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: thirty episodes seasons. Yeah, and now it's just like you, oh,
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: I really like this show, but it's over in the
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: whole season's over in ten episodes and it's now what.
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: Yeah. That was a big part of the problem with
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: everything because it used to all be twenty episodes and
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: when you were hiring writing staffs and everybody would get
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: a script and you'd figure out how to pay guys,
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: and then it's like, oh, there's only ten episodes now,
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: and it's like totally back and watch twenty three episodes
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: of the season.
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: Thirteen of them are filler episodes.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but it's still something to watch, you know,
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: Like these these shows now it's just it's very.
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: It gets to the heart of it.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know, like we really like a lot
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: of them, you know, like Lincoln Lawyer, awesome show on Netflix.
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: I love, I love, but they released the show once
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: every eighteen months. It's ten episodes and it's over. It
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: just you don't have those shows anymore like that.
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: Is there any more Patriots stuff to talk about here
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: in our last fifteen minutes?
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: Because I don't know why you have to be.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: So I haven't watched a lot of good television lately,
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: and it's just I feel like I'm getting old and
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: I'm not liking things like I used to. Like I
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: used to just have a lot longer patience, or I
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: would try things a lot longer, and now I just
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: don't waste my time.
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: I miss stuff.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: I don't. I don't see nearly as much as everybody
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: else watches, especially in streaming service.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: I feel the same way. And there's so much pressure too,
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: because you can't really connect. It's so much harder to
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: connect with people on what shows you're watching because there's
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: so many options and like, you know, somebody might be
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: watching it, there's no way they're watching everything. You get
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: so excited when you meet somebody like had you seen this?
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: And no, I don't have anything but the Sopranos When
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: that was on, everybody, Yeah, we spent like, I mean,
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: this is gonna be hard for you guys to believe,
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: we would spend like forty five minutes just talking about
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: the Sopranos on the Monday on the on the Monday after.
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: You know, I just remember with the Sopranos because I
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: was obviously too young in real time to watch it.
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: But I remember my dad just Sunday nights that that
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: it was if we weren't if we were out, it
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: was we had to be home in time for the Sopranos.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: And this was before DVR and all that stuff. So
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: it was like there's some photo finishes there and he
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: would have to watch it. It was religious feeling.
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: It's just weird. There's other than sports. There's no real
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: appointment viewing anymore. Like there's not, like he said, like
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: even Dawson's Creek. I remember in college, like all the boys,
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: we'd all, you know, whose room we go, you know,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: we'd get pizza and watched.
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: I always thought that I was, you know a little
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: different for being you know, a man and enjoying nose.
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: I'm surprised to hear and.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: Pacey and Jen and you know, Katie Holmes, she was
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: a good one.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: No, no, I got to be honest. That wasn't great
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: for that, you know, like the I wasn't huge on
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: Michelle Williams or Katie Holmes.
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: No either's I And then and then the whole Tom Cruise,
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: that thing happened with Holmes, and I felt like.
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: Geez, well that was hoax.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: The poor the poor girl. I have I have a
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: source on that, really an agent. What else? Any any
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: Patriots stuff? Though that happened.
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: He kept trying, like we talked about.
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: Signed out, so sorry, guys, don't don't send emails.
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: We talked about dog they extended you know, may what
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: else you want?
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: What do you think of JJ McCarthy Think he's good.
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: We've spent the whole show talking about That's why.
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: I look, I'm going on vacation next week, and I
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: think it's like sometimes like is that weird going to
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: vacation the week before the draft? But I kind of
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: think it's perfect because.
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: Whenever you go on vacation, it's the right time to
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: l a way too many of the I will not
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: be doing that anymore now, timing my vacations for specific reasons.
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: I'll be out.
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: I might want to be.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: I might have to make a trip to Sunny McLean's
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: and to watch a Bruins playoff game, maybe see some
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: of my people.
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: You know, I'm away a lot during April vacation. I
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: won't be this year, but I've enjoyed some playoff games
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: on the Celtics Brooklyn Game one a couple of years ago,
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: a beater by Tatum. We were in Florida for that,
- 1:47:47Speaker 5: and I'm a little bit of you remember those games,
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: a little bit of a Celtics So this is only
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: a couple of years ago. And I remember when they
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: we were at a bar and my kids were there.
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: It was a sports bar, so like it wasn't like
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: a bar just you know, everybody's drinking, but Will's high
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: fiving everybody.
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: In the bar like the coolest kids.
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: They're jumping up and down and they're like, you know,
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: had a lot of fun. That was Easter Sunday, it was,
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: and so that is accurate. So IDs his family, and
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: I was probably the biggest. Yeah, I was probably the
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: only Celtics, like really die hard in the room. And
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: I did not contain myself. It was It was not
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: one of my proudest moments. I definitely screamed and jumped
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: off the couch and yeah.
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: Actually I do have a one Patriots sing pole to
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: ask you. Okay, Logan Ryan retired and now we were
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: kind of laughing upstairs. And see as I remember it,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: I remember people like looking at Logan Ryan as one
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: of those irrational hate players, like early on in his
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: first year. I mean, yeah, that's why I'm kind of
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: bringing that up, like he was fine, but I don't know,
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: I don't know. I remember like just irrational anger about
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: him as as kind of always like the Miles Bryant quarterback,
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: you know, like the cornerback that kind of gets picked
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: don But he emerged and had, you know, a pretty
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: solid couple of years. He's fine. But then I just
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: thought it was it was funny that I had forgotten
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: that it was a pick six on Brady that too.
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: Yeah, No, he was the guy that that the turned
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: out the lights on the Patriots career.
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: I remember walking down here with you that I look
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: at Logan Ryan as every team needs a Logan Ryan,
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: and in their secondary. It's not necessarily that he was
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: this shutdown corner by any means, but as a third corner,
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: as a nickel, play a little bit of safety and
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: you're just not every guy is going to be going
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: to be tyel Off, right, like some of those guys
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: just have to be able to play snaps and eat snaps.
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: And I always thought that Logan Ryan was reliable in
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: that reguard.
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: Yeah, good tackler, good tackle one of the Ruckers guys.
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: I think a lot of those guys kind of all
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: got it.
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: My guess is is if like PFF existed back and no,
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: I think they would hate him really because of all
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: the completionc he used to keep up. He used to
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: he was the king of I'm going to give up
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: an eight yard completion, but I'm going to tackle him,
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: so it's only going to be eight yards. And they
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: could live with those as good as they were on offense.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: You know, nowadays I think that you can't give a
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: bay yard, so you'd have to be a little bit tighter.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: But it was just kind of jarring. I remember though,
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: going from like they went out and got Revas and
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: Browner in fourteen and then they just kind of let
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: him walk and then all of a sudden it was
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: Ryan and Butler that they you know, And I mean
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: it didn't really drop off much, I don't think, but
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: it just was I think initially kind of like Revis
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: went back to the Jets. People were pissed about that,
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: and then I don't even know what happened with Browner.
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: Did they just did he have like an issue or
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: something to jail?
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: Might?
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: I mean, I think he's intentionally eventually.
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I had problem. Was he in New
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: Orleans when he had problems? Maybe? I don't remember.
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: I always thought of Logan Ryan at his best playing nickel,
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: like playing in the slot, playing a little bit like
- 1:50:38Speaker 4: that slot safety. He was Miles Bryant type.
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: He was fine. I think he We had a solid
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: NFL career, nothing to be Yeah, eleven years.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: Super Bowl champ, eleven years. Yeah.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: How long you got to play to get a pension
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: in the league?
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: Three years?
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: Three years?
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: Wow, it's a magic number.
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: I think I think it's three years.
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, what else? What else we got?
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: Says he.
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: Thought Patriots?
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: It says here we got.
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: I was talking with the media a little bit about
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: access grousing. Not so much grousing. I mean, our poor
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: friend Taylor Kyle's feels like he's, uh, you know, he's
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: he's experiencing his first off season, so he was, you know,
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: he said he's been inside a lot. I guess he's,
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: you know, he's warm blooded, kind of like me. Everybody
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: lives in California. But we're all kind of talking and
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: agreeing that maybe not the best thing in the world
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: for access to rookie mini camp and the overreactions that
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: are going to come out of that are you know,
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: probably not going to be very helpful to some of
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: these rookies.
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: And I totally understand that we all have a story
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: to write, but you also don't have to make a
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: good story out of it, right like you can. There's
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: there's a way that we can make sure that it
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: doesn't get too overblown. And I mean maybe I'm wrong
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: about that, but you're exactly right.
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: And I would just say if people were honestly concerned
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: about that, then maybe they might want to think about
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: what they tweet.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: That's about every move that the team makes.
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: Right, right, Well, we're also undo like pressures, right and
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: are we gonna get are we gonna get practice stats
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: for mini rookie mini camp like you know, Drake Man
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: some tough missus today for Drake May even though they
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: were in shorts, we had a walks room space.
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: Practice stats from camp. I get why they're useful as
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: a writer because it gives you a tangible number to refer.
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: Mac Jones had a great day at camp today. He
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: was twenty for twenty three and it really lit it up.
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: But you know it's obviously it means nothing and then
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: I go and I you know, I hear on Paul
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: shows and stuff like that. They'll put them in the update.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: You know, during training camp.
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: You do what they're gonna talk about, right, That's why
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: they do it, which stupid, but they do it right.
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: So it just it's one of those things. Oh, you know,
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: one day, Bailey's appy better than Mac. Today he completed
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: seventy five percent of his practice passes and Matt jonesy
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: completed seventy you know, but I mean usually, I.
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: Mean, you, Paul, you've been doing this forever. It's like
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: you trust that you've been doing it long enough that
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: you can just write who had a good day and
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: who didn't have a good day without feeling the need
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: to and.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: Look at that enough.
- 1:53:18Speaker 5: Ye you know that day. Yeah, I don't remember the
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: last time we had access to rookie mini camp. I
- 1:53:23Speaker 5: think it was the year that they had a linebacker
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: they drafted in the third round, Tyrone Mackenzie. Yeah, him
- 1:53:32Speaker 5: towards adl in rookie Mini Camp. I believe that's the
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: last time that we had access to it.
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: Why, I mean, was there ever a connection of why?
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: I mean, I can kind of understand why Bill didn't,
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: but it seems kind of silly, like a guy towards
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: a CLA.
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: I just think it was coincidental. Yeah, I just don't
- 1:53:48Speaker 5: think it was. I don't think it was cause and effect.
- 1:53:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I just wonder we might get out there.
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: I think it's a Saturday too that they haven't scheduled
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: for right now that we'll have access, and.
- 1:54:00Speaker 5: I still have to let me know how that go.
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: Well, it's just like a ropes course.
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: Odds that they do anything that really is that any
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: of us can sit there and say we took something
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: away from this is probably pretty slim. It's not like
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: if they draft Drake May that he's going to be
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: doing eleven on eleven's and we're going to be able
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: to really grade throws and stuff like that. So I'm
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: not too worried about it because I don't think I
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: think it's going to be a nothing burger, to be honest.
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: So well, that'll be I mean, I guess we can
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: preview for the fans a little bit just because we
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: do have the OTA schedule. That'll be excuse me, a
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: little bit of a preview there on May eleventh, and
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: then you know, we'll get some OTA access May twenty,
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: if May twenty ninth, a couple in early June, and
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: then of course mini camp, which will happen right amongst
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: Tom Brady night as well, So.
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: That'll be Yeah, that'll be a busy week.
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: First, like OTAs I if they draft a quarterback, I
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: think Ota is there there's some validity to what's going
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: on there. Yeah, you know, does it look like he's
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: treading water, does it look like he's taken on water?
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: You know, in terms of the mental side of it,
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: I wouldn't put too much and stock into the completion
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: rate or anything like that in the practice, but you
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: can glean some stuff, especially if you know it's a
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: passing camp. That's what those there's no pads, you're seven
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: on seven like, that's that's what it is.
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: Because of COVID, we didn't see Mac and Camp till
- 1:55:13Speaker 3: like the summer, right, like, no, no, any did we
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: see any Ota camp?
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, because we did. Mac was twenty one, so
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: you know we're past the shutdown period and all that
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: kind of stuff. So I want to say yes that
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: we saw him and Ota.
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: Trying to remember I mean, I don't we didn't see
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: anything what twenty twenty do we get like a little
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: bit access early, yeah, just with the private the private, Yeah,
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: but what it was like the first couple days when
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: they don't really do anything.
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: That was a big moment for me. It was twenty twenty.
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: I remember there was only a select few people that
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: got access to training camp that year, and I somehow
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: got on on the yes list. So that was that
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: was like a cool, a cool thing. I was on
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: the alternate though, like I had to wait for the
- 1:55:56Speaker 4: email the night before. Yeah, you get to like get
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: that I had access. But I think I only missed
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: I remember all that stuff. Yeah, I think I only
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: missed one one day.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: I think somehow start the day completely curtailed and you
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: and I got stuck covering more.
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: Right, That's what happens, Paul, That's what happens. What a
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: crappy season that was, though, My god, that was like
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: I just that was in hindsight. The team was terrible.
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: The atmosphere was terrible. I mean there was just there
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: was nothing, nothing good about any of it.
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: We didn't even have like our like nonsense like in
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: the press box, like watching the games, because you had
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: your own.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: Right cordoned off and your plastic bubble and your mask
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: and you're, oh boy.
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: I'm just thankful I didn't get sick. That's it, you know,
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: like the fact that.
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: I made it to you waited till week one twenty.
- 1:56:42Speaker 4: I got it the next year. But at least I
- 1:56:43Speaker 4: was vaccinated and stuff at that point.
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I never got COVID. I did get sick at
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: the end of that year, though. Man, that that Buffalo
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: home You missed that one. That Monday night game. I
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: I did the pregame show and they were like, bro,
- 1:56:57Speaker 5: you just need to you just need to rest, like
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: we were because we were all remote at the time. I,
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: you know, and I didn't come in for the game,
- 1:57:05Speaker 5: which was not a problem because you know, we were
- 1:57:07Speaker 5: kind of used to doing all these zooms. Him and
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: Ardia like, bro, you can't do it.
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: You're a warrior.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: You were trying to power through. I just felt bad because,
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: I remember I was downstairs and I you know, the
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: pregame show was over. I had my recliner up and
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: I'm laying down. I had like nine blankets on and
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: I'm watching the game. And in the middle of the
- 1:57:27Speaker 5: second quarter, Buffalo took complete control. They scored They I
- 1:57:30Speaker 5: think there was like a fumble. They scored again, and
- 1:57:33Speaker 5: I didn't have any recollection, Like I'm like the score,
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: I'm looking at it. Whatever it was, let's just say
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: it was like twenty three to nine at the time,
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: something silly, and I'm like, what what happened? Like I
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: literally rewound my TV manually to go back and miss
- 1:57:48Speaker 5: the to see the four drives that I missed.
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: You blanked out.
- 1:57:52Speaker 5: And then I was like, yeah, I'm not going to
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: be joining.
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: The almost time in my five years here that You've
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: ever missed something.
- 1:57:58Speaker 5: Is the only time I've ever done it for not
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: a like like will being born. I missed. I missed
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: the four AFC Championship game and Super Bowl your machine
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: pull that was it?
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: Many games well, I.
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: Remember I sent Bill a lot of inside baseball. We
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: got two minutes. I sent Bill an email before the
- 1:58:22Speaker 5: AOC Championship game in four, you know, partly probably trying
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: to suck up a little bit, you know, never hurts
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: to have the coach on your side, and he just
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: wrote thanks.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: Just like, hey, coach, sorry, I'm not gonna be able
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: to make the game, I said, I said, you know,
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: wishing you guys the best of luck.
- 1:58:45Speaker 5: I'm awaiting the birth of my first child, so I'm
- 1:58:47Speaker 5: not going to be out there, but you know, looking
- 1:58:50Speaker 5: forward to another Super Bowl trip. Good luck. Thanks, he didn't,
- 1:58:56Speaker 5: he replied, but thanks.
- 1:58:59Speaker 3: Oh my god, I can imagine email. You saw me,
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: saw him out in Washington. There is he gonna just
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: I saw Matt Rule too, talking about like four hours.
- 1:59:06Speaker 5: Belichi, you probably should have brought that up.
- 1:59:08Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, there we go. See look at it, Look
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: at mente.
- 1:59:10Speaker 5: He felt awfully stupid.
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: Yeah, he said that it. Bill talked for football for
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: four straight hours, just no breaks.
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: He's cramped up right now. I feel like he's just,
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: you know, he's like holding back the gates. He's got
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: no team to coach.
- 1:59:22Speaker 4: I actually think they're crazy. And I know Nil has
- 1:59:26Speaker 4: changed the college game so much in these kids attitudes
- 1:59:28Speaker 4: and stuff, but maybe his thing would work in college
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: these days, you know, just and I love the idea
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: of Bill coming in and like just giving his two
- 1:59:37Speaker 4: cents on any team. You know, just, I'll spend a
- 1:59:39Speaker 4: couple of days with you, Sultan, and to.
- 1:59:41Speaker 5: Do this, this and this and yeah you do that
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: well yeah.
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: Yeah man, yeah, you got to get more special teamers
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: and what.
- 1:59:47Speaker 4: Is this where's your Brandon schooler?
- 1:59:49Speaker 5: So you would think like college would be proved for him. Yeah,
- 1:59:52Speaker 5: I have no roster restrictions, right, but I can have
- 1:59:55Speaker 5: like thirty seven guys that just the gunners. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:59:59Speaker 5: And if something happens for the first thirty six, I
- 2:00:01Speaker 5: got a thirty seventh.
- 2:00:02Speaker 2: Wait.
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: Yeah, oh we're terrible. We're terrible. All right. I think
- 2:00:06Speaker 3: I'm gonna put everbody out their misery. It's two o'clock,
- 2:00:08Speaker 3: so uh yeah, thanks everybody for listening in and now
- 2:00:11Speaker 3: we'll get back on Thursday.
