- 0:27Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, you guys throw
- 0:30another curve ball at us.
- 0:32So here's the thing about this one.
- 0:34We've already done this on our podcast.
- 0:36Apparently Izzy just insisted you guys had to watch this movie.
- 0:39I did.
- 0:39Yeah, she did.
- 0:40She was very, very explicit about that.
- 0:43I really wanted, there are opinions on this one.
- 0:45That's the equivalent of waterboarding water boy or water boarding.
- 0:49Really?
- 0:50Yeah.
- 0:50Yeah.
- 0:50Water boying, water boarding.
- 0:53She tortured us.
- 0:54Water boarding might have been more enjoyable.
- 0:56Water boying.
- 0:57Is that when you just talk in a dumb accent and uh, then run into somebody?
- 1:02I think it happens in Southeast Asia.
- 1:06What is happening?
- 1:07I think they're pulling a stuntman on us.
- 1:09Apparently we've all been drinking and I'm driving, so.
- 1:12Perfect.
- 1:14So, uh, by the way, I'm Steve.
- 1:15And I'm Izzy and we're with everything I think from movies.
- 1:21We're here with Grand Touring Motor Sports Break Fix podcast.
- 1:24Is that we guys still officially go by know you're part of
- 1:26the Motoring Podcast network.
- 1:27Oh, very good.
- 1:28Look at you got it all over there.
- 1:30Okay.
- 1:30Okay.
- 1:31Oh, they don't call him shit plug or Steve for nothing.
- 1:33That's right.
- 1:34But we have Eric, Tanya, Brad and Mountain Mike.
- 1:37I mean, uh, mountain Man, Dan.
- 1:39No Mountain Mike.
- 1:40Sounds about right.
- 1:41That mountain Mike open yet near us, there is one coming to the East Coast.
- 1:46Yeah.
- 1:47And by near it's a couple hours away.
- 1:49Yeah.
- 1:49You guys have to go to Mountain Bikes.
- 1:51Get Everest.
- 1:52You won't be disappointed first.
- 1:53Then again after this move, you guys might not be taking my recommendations.
- 1:57Oh boy.
- 1:58She's like, I don't know.
- 1:58I can't trust Izzy's recommendations on pizza anymore.
- 2:01We still are here after the stuntman, so wow, shots fired.
- 2:07You guys picked that one.
- 2:09So do not blame me for that.
- 2:10Did we pick that one?
- 2:12All I gotta say is Trading Paint.
- 2:13You guys.
- 2:14Senior moment, there are worse movies than this movie, the Lamborghini movie.
- 2:19I'll put that below this one.
- 2:21But anyway, in keeping with tradition, let me read a traumatic
- 2:24introduction for this movie.
- 2:26Shall I go for it?
- 2:27Do it.
- 2:28Brace yourselves.
- 2:29Here it comes.
- 2:30An eloping bride is taken into hell and her fiance must pursue.
- 2:35Yeah.
- 2:38Taken straight from the IMDB synopsis.
- 2:41That's it.
- 2:42I mean, that's basically the movie roll credits.
- 2:44Guys, what do we think of?
- 2:46There's so many things to talk about.
- 2:49There are though.
- 2:50There really aren't.
- 2:52No, there are.
- 2:52There's so much to talk about this movie, right.
- 2:55For the picking.
- 2:56I wasn't gonna watch this movie because I watched the two minute and
- 2:5916 second trailer and I had enough.
- 3:03You watched the whole movie and I felt like I had seen the whole
- 3:07movie and I was good, but I did cave and I watched it tonight.
- 3:11It's because of Brad's play by play messages on Discord last night.
- 3:15That's why you watched it.
- 3:17No, it sucked you in.
- 3:19He baited you.
- 3:21You had to watch it.
- 3:21At that point, I realized I didn't have to pay for it.
- 3:25I didn't have to create a login for Tuby.
- 3:28No, tuby doesn't care.
- 3:30Tuby just wants you to watch also get no questions.
- 3:32Also, when Brad sent me the message, demon boobies, I was hooked.
- 3:35Yeah, demon boobies pretty much.
- 3:38But guys, what movie are we talking about?
- 3:39That would be 1990 ones Highway to Hell.
- 3:43Way the Heck Not in this movie that I think that's Maximum
- 3:47Overdrive a few years before.
- 3:49Now that.
- 3:50Now that's a good movie.
- 3:51I love that movie so much.
- 3:53They just said, maximum Overdrive is better than this movie.
- 3:55All right, you guys.
- 3:56Spoiler alerts.
- 3:57I love both of them and I'm really shocked you guys don't love this movie.
- 4:03Babe, do you remember your first time watching this movie?
- 4:05What was the first time we watched this?
- 4:06I know I watched that.
- 4:07My first time watched was with you.
- 4:09It was probably three or four years ago.
- 4:11We were just looking through Tubi and it popped up and I'm
- 4:14like, what the hell is this?
- 4:16And we watched it and what the hell was that?
- 4:19And then we had to watch it again.
- 4:21We've done an episode about this one, but we wanna share it with you guys.
- 4:23I really wanted their opinion of this.
- 4:25Is this like misery loves company?
- 4:27Is that what this is?
- 4:28No.
- 4:29No, guys, I'm not joking.
- 4:30I genuinely really love this little movie.
- 4:33This movie was period appropriate?
- 4:35Yes, very, uh, late eighties, early nineties.
- 4:37I'll agree with that.
- 4:38Yes, it tracked very well.
- 4:40It was period appropriate for 1976.
- 4:42This movie feels old for 1991.
- 4:46It does, of course, in 76, like Peter Fonda would've been the main
- 4:49guy with his 17-year-old bride or whatever, a thousand percent.
- 4:55So Peter Fonda would be 17 too, right?
- 4:56Right, right.
- 4:57Mm-hmm.
- 4:58It's your dyslexia.
- 4:59It's 71.
- 5:01Yeah.
- 5:0171 and 17.
- 5:03But yeah, from director, I think it's ate Dej.
- 5:06It's a Dutch dude.
- 5:07Is he Steve?
- 5:08Well, you might know him from Dutch Films.
- 5:11No.
- 5:11How about Drop Dead, Fred?
- 5:13I do know that movie.
- 5:14This.
- 5:14And then back to doing more touch films.
- 5:16I wonder why.
- 5:17Oh boy.
- 5:19The guys, okay.
- 5:20The writer of this movie, Uhhuh Ryan Helgeland.
- 5:24Who's he?
- 5:24Steve, does that name sound familiar to anyone?
- 5:26No.
- 5:27Wait, no.
- 5:28Okay.
- 5:29Nevermind.
- 5:29I thought of somebody else's name.
- 5:31Nope.
- 5:31No idea.
- 5:32Well, we all gotta start somewhere.
- 5:34Nightmare on Elm Street for the Dream Master.
- 5:36Oh, I was gonna say Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 5:39I don't know why I thought that.
- 5:40Because all great writers come from it followed by 9, 7 6 Evil.
- 5:44I know one of Eric's favorites.
- 5:45This and then, okay.
- 5:48Assassins.
- 5:48Yes.
- 5:49The Stallone ez uh, assassins Movie.
- 5:53That was a good movie.
- 5:54It was then LA Confidential.
- 5:57Oh, that's an excellent movie.
- 5:58Conspiracy Theory.
- 6:00Oh, so good.
- 6:00The Postman.
- 6:02Yeah.
- 6:02Payback.
- 6:04A Knight's Tale Blood Work, mystic River.
- 6:06The Order Man On Fire, the taking of Pellum.
- 6:081, 2, 3. Suk Drie Vampire's Assistant Green Zone, the 2010
- 6:13Robinhood with Russell Crow, 42 Legend and Spencer Confidential.
- 6:18So, oops.
- 6:19All bangers.
- 6:19I mean, pretty much.
- 6:20Yeah.
- 6:21Wow.
- 6:21Even directed a few of 'em, like, uh, payback and Knight's Tale
- 6:24and Legend, and he learned from all the mistakes of this movie.
- 6:28Yeah.
- 6:29Like I said, we all gotta start somewhere.
- 6:30Hey guys.
- 6:31Oops.
- 6:31All bangers?
- 6:33Yep.
- 6:33Yep.
- 6:33Wow.
- 6:34Speaking of, oops.
- 6:35All bangers.
- 6:35Oh man.
- 6:36The cast in this movie.
- 6:38Ah-ha.
- 6:38Chad Lowe as Charlie Sykes.
- 6:41Who's he?
- 6:42Steve.
- 6:42I had no idea that Rob Lowe had a brother.
- 6:45I first saw him on screen.
- 6:46I was like, this guy looks like a low rent.
- 6:48Rob Lowe.
- 6:49That's what Steve said the first time we watched it, and so looked
- 6:51up and, oh, it's his little brother.
- 6:53That makes sense.
- 6:54By the way, there's another actor, Paul Lowe.
- 6:56Who looks exactly like these two.
- 6:58He was in, uh, primal Fear around the same time.
- 7:01Monkey Horror movie or whatever.
- 7:03Yeah.
- 7:03Or I guess it's more of a zombie monkey horror movie.
- 7:06I don't know.
- 7:06No relation just happens to be a low who looks like the lows, but no relation.
- 7:10I thought Chad Lowe, and this looked like the guy from Seaquest.
- 7:13What was his name?
- 7:14The young guy?
- 7:15The kid Jonathan Brandis?
- 7:16Yes.
- 7:17Oh, from Sidekicks or, yeah.
- 7:18He was giving me his vibes.
- 7:20He just doesn't have the dreamy blue eyes.
- 7:22No, but you know Chad Low, we all know about his prestigious movie career, right?
- 7:2670 plus credit.
- 7:27I was gonna ask, what other movie was he in?
- 7:30He's been in Silence of the Heart, the Charlie Sheen movie from the eighties.
- 7:34True Blood, which looking at this, he's the star of it.
- 7:361989 movie with Jeff Fahe, Sherilyn fan, Billy Drago, James Tolkien.
- 7:41Ken Re and it's about saving his older brother from bringing
- 7:44Framed for a gang murder.
- 7:46Oh, okay.
- 7:47He, he's gotta say Rob Lowe, I guess.
- 7:48No, uh, I think, I think Jeff a, he's the older brother.
- 7:52I want it to be Rob Lowe so bad.
- 7:54Wait, so this is based on a true story.
- 7:56Sure.
- 7:57No, I have no idea.
- 7:58Probably not because his name's like Danny True Blood or something like that.
- 8:02I was thinking True Blood, the Vampire thing when you said that.
- 8:05That's what I call now that's based on a true story and, and then this.
- 8:09And then 37 episodes of Life goes On,
- 8:18hate episodes of Melrose Place.
- 8:20And then, okay, then we get into some good ones, like in
- 8:23the presence of mine Enemies.
- 8:24It's a Nazi flick.
- 8:26Uh, I was gonna say Soring Charles dance in Armand Mueller Stall.
- 8:29And of course Chad Lowe, Gilbert Godfrey what?
- 8:33Yeah.
- 8:35Yeah.
- 8:36Gilbert Godfrey with the guest spot.
- 8:37And of course, 1990 Eight's Target Earth starring friend of the podcast.
- 8:41John c McGinley.
- 8:42What's that about?
- 8:43Uh, you, I'll give you two guesses.
- 8:44Also, Christopher Malaney in that movie.
- 8:46There we go.
- 8:47He's also in suicide Colon.
- 8:48The comedy.
- 8:49Wait.
- 8:50You read the colon out?
- 8:51I was like colon.
- 8:52Like the organ?
- 8:54Yeah.
- 8:55Suicide.
- 8:55Colon.
- 8:56The comedy.
- 8:57Steve Colons are never comedic.
- 8:59He also played John Denver and Take Me Home.
- 9:01The John Denver story.
- 9:02I can see that with some glasses and slightly longer hair.
- 9:05That makes total sense.
- 9:06I wonder if he sings, uh, does he crash airplanes too?
- 9:10Ooh, too soon.
- 9:11Spoilers too soon.
- 9:13Too soon.
- 9:14It's been like 30 years too soon.
- 9:17Yes.
- 9:17I'm also, I'm also like trying to place like, wait, had the
- 9:20accident happened before this movie happened or, I don't know.
- 9:23I'll have to check out.
- 9:24But, uh, he is also into unfaithful.
- 9:25Everyone's seen that many times, especially one particular scene
- 9:29not featuring Chad Low though.
- 9:31Steve, do you, do you have something you wanna tell us about Chad Low?
- 9:34Not at all, but Chad Low episodes of TV shows like 24 CSI, Miami, ER, bones,
- 9:41the Ghost Whisper, and of course he played himself in the Entourage movie.
- 9:44Yeah.
- 9:46Uh, also eight episodes of Super Girl and six episodes of 9 1 1 Lone Star.
- 9:50That's right.
- 9:51Still kicking it.
- 9:52What happened to the podcast where we were gonna watch Entourage?
- 9:55You've never seen Entourage, entourage with, or what were they thinking?
- 9:58Uh, Brenda gave up on that after like.
- 10:00Four episodes.
- 10:01Okay.
- 10:02I don't even think we really finished the first season.
- 10:04Wow.
- 10:04You know, I'm pretty sure we finished the first season.
- 10:06It was a retrospective look on the show entourage and uh, the cohost was a coward.
- 10:12I can't believe you guys haven't seen all of entourage.
- 10:15That's mind blowing to me.
- 10:16Oh, one of us definitely has seen most of it.
- 10:19Oh, okay.
- 10:19I was gonna say one of us has not and was really looking forward to it.
- 10:22Speaking of looking forward to it, oh my god.
- 10:24Christie Swanson as Rachel Clark.
- 10:27Now we're talking Who's she?
- 10:29Steve.
- 10:30Oh, we might know her from her 90 credits.
- 10:31Apparently she's duckett in Pretty and Pink, which I've never seen.
- 10:35Okay.
- 10:35Simone in Ferris Bueller's Day off.
- 10:37She's the blonde girl.
- 10:39When Matthew Broderick?
- 10:41No, no, no.
- 10:41The guy.
- 10:41Bueller.
- 10:42Bueller.
- 10:42Anyone?
- 10:42What's Ben Stein?
- 10:43Right.
- 10:44So Ben Stein's in front of, she's the blonde girl at the front of the classroom.
- 10:47That's her.
- 10:48Oh, there you go.
- 10:48Yeah.
- 10:49Small part, but led to big things like Deadly Friend.
- 10:52Babe, we've seen this movie.
- 10:54Do you remember the uh, basketball kill?
- 10:56Oh shit.
- 10:57Yeah.
- 10:57Yeah.
- 10:58For those who don't know, it involves Kristi Swanson basically being a robot
- 11:01and going on a killing spree or something.
- 11:03Uh, or a demon.
- 11:04It's been a few years, but guys, it's great.
- 11:06Either way.
- 11:06There's a kill with the basketball.
- 11:08That is one of the greatest onscreen kills in history.
- 11:12And Izzy's favorite movie of all time Flowers in the Attic.
- 11:15Oh, god dammit.
- 11:15Did anyone else have to watch that in school?
- 11:17No.
- 11:18I'm not even joking.
- 11:19I've watched that probably four or five times in school for different classes.
- 11:23I don't know why is that the only one they could afford the rights to have?
- 11:26Maybe it's just public domain for schools.
- 11:29I don't know.
- 11:29But then she was in mannequin on the move, you know, mannequin two,
- 11:32some say the better One Hot Shots.
- 11:34Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
- 11:36The Chase Higher Learning The Phantom, yeah.
- 11:40Eight Heads In A Duffle Back, I mean, yes.
- 11:42Yeah.
- 11:42Phantom is amazing.
- 11:43Phantom is amazing.
- 11:44Big Daddy dude wears my car.
- 11:46Six episodes of Psych, a bunch of Christmas movies, and of
- 11:49course Obama Gate, the movie.
- 11:52Mm. Something.
- 11:53I didn't know that existed.
- 11:55Yeah, I didn't until I was going through IMDB and I'm like, oh
- 11:58no, it's been a rough 10, 15 years for, uh, Christie Swans.
- 12:01And the last person, I'm gonna go really in depth in Patrick Bergen as Beasel.
- 12:06Who's he?
- 12:07Steve, 120 plus credits.
- 12:10God damn.
- 12:11Sleeping with the Enemy.
- 12:12Okay.
- 12:12He was in there, Robin Hood, 1991.
- 12:15No, not Robin Hood, prince of Thieves.
- 12:17This is the one with Uma Thurman and Jurgen Pro.
- 12:19Now I'm sure you guys have seen it.
- 12:21No.
- 12:22Okay.
- 12:22We talked about it a couple years ago.
- 12:23It's, it's, it's actually pretty good.
- 12:24This.
- 12:25Patriot games.
- 12:26He was in Frankenstein, and it's not the one with Robert De Niro, but
- 12:30it came out around the same time.
- 12:32Oh, Randy Quaid plays the monster in this version.
- 12:35Oh, oh man.
- 12:37Oh my.
- 12:37So interested.
- 12:40My curiosity is peaked and then, yeah, his career basically peaked with his next
- 12:44movie, lawnmower Man, two Colin Jobes.
- 12:46War or Beyond Cyberspace.
- 12:48Yes.
- 12:48Okay.
- 12:49Okay.
- 12:49That's okay.
- 12:50Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:51He's the, the scientist guy.
- 12:52The guy, the shack.
- 12:54Yep.
- 12:54Yep.
- 12:54Guy.
- 12:55The shack in the canyon.
- 12:56Yeah.
- 12:56Yeah.
- 12:56I have the beholder.
- 12:57He was King Arthur in Merlin.
- 12:59The return, the T three K one.
- 13:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:03Beneath Lochness Ella.
- 13:04Enchanted.
- 13:05Casanova's Last Stand.
- 13:07Dick Dickman Pi, Pre-Fire, Nutcracker Massacre.
- 13:11And of course, one episode of the Continental.
- 13:14That's right.
- 13:15Still kicking it.
- 13:16Hell yeah.
- 13:19And as far as uh, other people in this movie, we have Adam Stork as Royce lead
- 13:24a Ford for a cameo, Gilbert Godfrey, and every single member of the Stiller family,
- 13:28every single member of the Stiller family.
- 13:33So, uh, how, how'd you guys watch this one?
- 13:35It sounds like it was a Tubi watch all around Tubi for sure.
- 13:38Yeah.
- 13:38You didn't want it in your search history or something, correct?
- 13:41I saw it on Amazon Prime.
- 13:42Yeah.
- 13:43He's not a coward.
- 13:45Yeah.
- 13:46I pulled it down, threw it on the plex.
- 13:47It's on the library now.
- 13:49There you go.
- 13:49He's gonna watch it over and over and over again.
- 13:53Yeah.
- 13:55Again.
- 13:55'cause he's not a coward.
- 13:57We watched trading paint nine times for crying out loud.
- 14:01Some people are completionist.
- 14:03See, I wanna make sure Steve and Izzy make it out to the East Coast of visit.
- 14:05They got good movies to watch.
- 14:07Oh boy.
- 14:08That's not what I'd select.
- 14:10Tony, do you remember how this movie starts?
- 14:12I do.
- 14:13I can give you a hint.
- 14:14They were in the um, no.
- 14:21Yeah,
- 14:24so terrible.
- 14:29Was this during the postcard that was sitting on the screen?
- 14:32Yeah.
- 14:32Yeah.
- 14:33Okay.
- 14:33I fast forwarded that.
- 14:34I was like, I
- 14:38missed it.
- 14:38The song was like the best part.
- 14:40You were like, what is this?
- 14:42Yeah.
- 14:42It almost was like Gregorian chant.
- 14:44Yeah.
- 14:45It was rough.
- 14:46Okay.
- 14:46I think this is why you guys didn't like this movie.
- 14:48You weren't prepped by the opening song to get you in the proper frame of mind.
- 14:52Yeah.
- 14:53And it says Music by Hidden Faces.
- 14:55And I'm like, really?
- 14:58Wow.
- 15:00But like you said earlier, you gotta start somewhere, I suppose.
- 15:03Oops.
- 15:03All bangers.
- 15:06But it was like four minutes of that.
- 15:08It went on way too long.
- 15:10I did about 20 seconds of it.
- 15:11I'm like, why am I wasting minutes of this fast?
- 15:14Why did you guys notice, uh, how the postcard was changing though?
- 15:17Not just day to night, but it was, everything was like decaying.
- 15:21Tanya missed it.
- 15:22She skipped over all.
- 15:23Well, I, well I started out with the postcard that I was like, is
- 15:25that like a old Nissan Sentra?
- 15:27What is that?
- 15:29Yeah.
- 15:29So I was gonna ask, are car folks, what do you think the
- 15:31little car is in the illustration?
- 15:33Nissan Maxima?
- 15:34That I don't know.
- 15:35'cause I'd have to go back and re-watch that part.
- 15:37But I'm wondering if Dan has the database prepped because I've
- 15:40got some questions to confirm.
- 15:42I do.
- 15:43I do, but it does not mention what that car is.
- 15:45Alright.
- 15:45Oh yes, there is.
- 15:46I have the answer.
- 15:47I know what it is.
- 15:48The postcard car.
- 15:49What is it?
- 15:49Oh, the postcard car or the red car?
- 15:51The postcard.
- 15:51No, I wanna know about the red car later.
- 15:53But the postcard car is what we're talking about now.
- 15:55Oh, I don't think I mentioned that.
- 15:57It's a rotted heat by the end of the postcard.
- 15:59Yeah, I was gonna say.
- 16:00Yeah, just nothing.
- 16:02You know what it really was?
- 16:03It's a time lapse of how cars end up at the mountain where Dan is
- 16:07Right When they first get there.
- 16:09I'm telling you.
- 16:10So you mean how they appreciate So if there was a desert Dan out there, that's
- 16:13what it'd be a postcard of his house.
- 16:16A thousand percent, yes.
- 16:18All right.
- 16:18But, uh, but after the opening number to get you in the right frame of mind,
- 16:21apparently we see, uh, a cop playing an arcade game called Highway to Hell.
- 16:25And I'm like, all right, well here we go.
- 16:27Mm-hmm.
- 16:28It's gonna be one of those like last star fighter kind of things.
- 16:30Right.
- 16:30We're gonna come into the game now and we, we see a nervous dude with his.
- 16:34Let's just say two hot girlfriend sitting at the diner table with them.
- 16:38Yeah.
- 16:39And she's like, why?
- 16:40Why are you sweating?
- 16:41What's going on?
- 16:42Like we we're, we're across the state lines to get married because, 'cause
- 16:46your parents won't consent or something.
- 16:48I don't know.
- 16:48This basically what we're doing is illegal.
- 16:51Yeah.
- 16:51There's a cop right there.
- 16:54And I'm just like, yeah.
- 16:55And if you fucking chill, no one will care.
- 16:57You're just on a date or something.
- 16:59Right.
- 17:00I dunno what he was so worried about.
- 17:01We're off to a bad start with this, so I was like, ah yeah, this is our hero.
- 17:06It's because they knew she was way outta his league.
- 17:09Yeah.
- 17:09The cop was gonna make a move.
- 17:10No, the cop was worried like, blink twice if you're unsafe right
- 17:14now, are you being trafficked?
- 17:16I liked the 1950s.
- 17:19I love Lucy Spit Take That happened during this scene.
- 17:22I was like, why is this necessary?
- 17:24Because it's a comedy guys.
- 17:26No, the thing that got me in the scene, most of all is like when
- 17:28they're like, alright we, we gotta go, we gotta go, blah, blah, blah.
- 17:31And he is like super nervous and he leaves $3 to pay his bill with tip.
- 17:35And I'm like, fuck you.
- 17:361991. And he remembers to grab a sandwich for the most
- 17:39important character in the movie.
- 17:40Who's that babe?
- 17:41Mr. Ben?
- 17:43Yeah.
- 17:43The dog in the backseat who's been sitting there the whole time while
- 17:46they were eating indoors, I assume.
- 17:48Yeah.
- 17:48Yes.
- 17:48Some dogs don't have crippling anxiety and you can leave them alone.
- 17:52Oh God.
- 17:53What a dream world I get.
- 17:55It's just a movie.
- 17:55Yeah, right.
- 17:56But yeah, he hops in, uh, the, his, uh, pizza delivery Gremlin, Pinto, Pinto Ford.
- 18:02Pinto.
- 18:02It was a Pinto.
- 18:03Pinto.
- 18:03That's right.
- 18:04That Sam says it later too.
- 18:06There's an epic line in a little bit.
- 18:07Yes.
- 18:09But you know, the cops follow him down the freeway and he is like, he's course
- 18:12super nervous, like, oh my God, we good.
- 18:14Wait a second.
- 18:15He backs his pinto up.
- 18:17Yeah.
- 18:17Almost runs him over.
- 18:18Yeah, it almost runs over the cop and hits the motorcycle.
- 18:21I was expecting whoop, whoop, whoop.
- 18:23And then nothing.
- 18:23It was just going down the highway.
- 18:25That's that.
- 18:25Cops used to be cool, man.
- 18:27I guess so.
- 18:28They used to get it like we're all people, man.
- 18:30Oh, I thought you were talking like Eric Estrada, like he gets it
- 18:33chips, you know, that kind of thing.
- 18:35Oh, also, yes.
- 18:36That's the other reason why Rob Lowe has to leave with his wildly hot girlfriend.
- 18:40That cop's going to get it.
- 18:41That cop's got some blow, he's gonna get it.
- 18:43So, but, uh, but you know, the cops followed us.
- 18:47He hasn't turned on his lights, so he is not gonna pull us over.
- 18:49Right.
- 18:50Well, there's only one way to find out.
- 18:51And they pull off on the next exit.
- 18:53Cop keeps going down the freeway.
- 18:54Roll credits, guys.
- 18:55What do we think I went?
- 18:57Hell right.
- 18:58Okay, so now they decide, all right, well we should probably stay off
- 19:01the main freeways if your mom, uh, you know, dropped the dime on us.
- 19:04We can take these back roads to Vegas.
- 19:06And I'm like, you never wanna take the back roads to Vegas?
- 19:08No.
- 19:09Let's take the back roads to Vegas guys.
- 19:10Don't do it.
- 19:11You'll end up in needles or something.
- 19:12Steve, tell us about what Needles doesn't have.
- 19:16Oh, it doesn't have a statue to Sam Kinison.
- 19:18I'll tell you that.
- 19:20Fuck you.
- 19:212000 tens domino or whatever it was.
- 19:25All things for that movie to lie about.
- 19:26Why is Sam Kinison statue in Needles, California?
- 19:31Oh, all hoffey and know I'm a bounty hunter.
- 19:33Sure are.
- 19:35Sure ya.
- 19:36Did anyone else find it weird?
- 19:37The fact they like climb out the window to sit on the windows and
- 19:40talk over top of the cart to each other with the Big Arrow pizza slice.
- 19:44Sign like a beacon as he is driving down the road.
- 19:46Have you guys never wanted to romantically kiss under Anon pizza?
- 19:50No.
- 19:50Ew.
- 19:52Do, do you not believe in romance?
- 19:54Is romance dead?
- 19:54Say, I guess romance died the minute the Ford Pinto showed up.
- 20:00Is this the point where we mention how gross of a kisser he is?
- 20:04Holy cow.
- 20:05I mean there's movie kissing, which let's face it guys, horse Seaton and apple.
- 20:09Like it that level.
- 20:11Okay, talk.
- 20:11But, but this is even beyond that.
- 20:13This is Nu and Sandra in the lake house level of what's worse.
- 20:18Jeff Bridges raw Dogg in the Aztec ruins.
- 20:22Right, because he was eating her face like the sucker thing.
- 20:26An alien or this like what's worse?
- 20:29Definitely raw dogging in the ruins is worse.
- 20:31Yeah.
- 20:32This has the decency to be over quickly and has a neon pizza slice in the
- 20:36background, which gives it extra points.
- 20:38Yeah, the Aztecs weren't big on neon pizza, apparently.
- 20:40Yeah.
- 20:41I guess they just got that but up.
- 20:42It's not like Meatloaf's, the glow of the dashboard lights.
- 20:44It had to be the glow of the, uh, pizza line.
- 20:46Eventually they do take it to the backseat a little bit, you know, for a
- 20:49little make out and, uh, blah blah blah.
- 20:52She's like, we're not doing it in a for pen.
- 20:54He's like, just close your As for pretend to Porsche.
- 20:56Ah, so gross.
- 20:58You know, one line every owner most of you has done in their life.
- 21:01And then they're like, all right, fine.
- 21:02Let's just get to Vegas so we can do it in a perfectly clean room at the Plaza
- 21:06Hotel on Fremont Street or something.
- 21:08Oh, we're the Corvette from Corvette Summers on a rotator, right?
- 21:11That's right.
- 21:11Yeah.
- 21:13Maybe the dog could sleep in a different room.
- 21:16Oh, the dog's part of this.
- 21:17Yeah.
- 21:17Mr. Ben is part of this.
- 21:19It's going right there.
- 21:21Ah, like, so just can't get off without the dog licking their toes.
- 21:26Toes.
- 21:27Yes.
- 21:27That's it.
- 21:28As everyone shutters.
- 21:30Ugh.
- 21:31So now we continue down the road to nowhere and we end up at the gas station.
- 21:35Yeah.
- 21:36Sam's last chance we're, uh, a nice elderly gentleman.
- 21:39I assume Sam, did anybody else find it weird that when he is sitting
- 21:42there I understand them doing it?
- 21:43So you could get the view of both actors when he is sitting out there before to
- 21:46go inside the reflection off the mirror.
- 21:48It's like a truck mirror off of a seventies or eighties truck
- 21:51that they do the reflection on.
- 21:52I'm like, why is a truck mirror just randomly sitting there
- 21:54next to his like rocking chair?
- 21:56Underneath of the overhang of I noticed that too.
- 21:58So you couldn't sneak up on him.
- 22:00That's why got ass everywhere.
- 22:02Yeah.
- 22:02It's like Doctor who, you can't look at the bad guys like directly in the eyes.
- 22:06You gotta let 'em come up on you, you know, use the mirror or if it's a gorgan.
- 22:10Right.
- 22:10If you're thinking in that sense, you know, Medusa with the snakes.
- 22:13If you look in the mirror, you know how it works.
- 22:15Yeah.
- 22:15Yeah.
- 22:16We've all seen those scenes.
- 22:17Yeah.
- 22:17Uhhuh.
- 22:18But, uh, you know, fills 'em up and, uh, he is like, well, that'll be $8 for gas.
- 22:22And again, I'm screaming at the tv.
- 22:24Fuck you.
- 22:2591. Mm-hmm.
- 22:26Free coffee too.
- 22:27Free coffee if you want it.
- 22:291976, please.
- 22:30In 1976.
- 22:31No, I kept joking that the movie was filmed way before the movie.
- 22:35Oh, yeah.
- 22:36It was just released in 91.
- 22:37Oh, okay.
- 22:38Think about it.
- 22:38Who's still driving a Pinto in the nineties?
- 22:41I could tell you in the early two thousands, many people at my high
- 22:44school, oh, I was a kid working at Nunzio Pizza or whatever it was.
- 22:48Yeah.
- 22:49Should have been driving like an 85 Cavalier.
- 22:52Not a Pinto, but whatever.
- 22:53We'll leave it where it is.
- 22:5485 Cavalier would've been wildly new for guy with his kind of budget.
- 22:59That's true.
- 23:00That's true.
- 23:00That's true.
- 23:01He's more of a 72 Riviera kind of guy.
- 23:03Yeah.
- 23:04Yeah.
- 23:04They're getting ready to go after the Philip on gas and then the sand.
- 23:07He's like.
- 23:08By the way, I'm gonna tell you, you're gonna come up to two Joshua trees just to
- 23:12make sure you go right past both of 'em.
- 23:14Don't stop in between 'em, whatever you do.
- 23:17And of course Charlie's like, huh, what?
- 23:19Whatever.
- 23:19I'm a bumble fuck.
- 23:20What was he saying about something with two trees?
- 23:23Doesn't matter.
- 23:24We're going to Vegas.
- 23:25Woo.
- 23:26I turned to my wife and I said, what is a Joshua Tree?
- 23:29And she said, I don't know.
- 23:31It's a tree.
- 23:31Not a U2 fan, huh?
- 23:33Yeah, definitely not a U2 fan.
- 23:34Apparently that was like their big album.
- 23:36I have no idea what it is, what it looked like.
- 23:38That's native to the west.
- 23:39So I'm like, I have no clue.
- 23:40Oh no.
- 23:41If you're at the Southwest or the west.
- 23:43It's those trees.
- 23:44Uh, there's like a whole national park of 'em in Southern California and they kind
- 23:47of look like they're straight out of a Dr.
- 23:48Seuss book.
- 23:49Yeah.
- 23:50They're poofy on top.
- 23:51Yes.
- 23:51Yeah, they're, they're really ancient type of tree, like they were
- 23:54around when dinosaurs were around.
- 23:56Ah, okay.
- 23:57And like, some of the ones for 'em when dinosaurs were around might still be here.
- 24:01I see what you're saying.
- 24:02They killed the dinosaurs.
- 24:03Yeah, they killed the dinosaurs.
- 24:04That's what I'm saying.
- 24:055,000 years ago, as it says in the Bible.
- 24:07Yeah.
- 24:08Really, really gnarly trees.
- 24:09They almost have what looks like palm frogs for needles
- 24:12and like really twisty trunks.
- 24:14And they're very, very cool.
- 24:15Everyone go visit Joshua Tree National Park.
- 24:17There you go.
- 24:18Speaking of super cool Charlie, he's driving along and just confessing
- 24:22like, oh man, I can't believe I'm lucky enough to be with a girl like you.
- 24:26And if we're gonna get married and spend our lives together.
- 24:29And of course, Christy Swanson's fucking asleep.
- 24:31He's like, okay, believe you're not here to listen to this.
- 24:33And I'd just be like, enjoy the silence buddy.
- 24:35You're about to get married.
- 24:37I love you too.
- 24:38Sometimes I love, I love you kitten.
- 24:42But you know, uh, Ben, the dog, he's there.
- 24:45He's also asleep.
- 24:45And then Charlie starts going to sleep.
- 24:47'cause you know, he's driving in the back roads, not knowing where he's going.
- 24:51He should have taken that coffee.
- 24:52I was waiting for him to plan right into that cop car killing everyone.
- 24:56Roll credits, guys.
- 24:57What do we think of Highway to hell?
- 24:58Not quite yet.
- 24:59It should have ended then.
- 25:00Yeah.
- 25:00Not quite.
- 25:01Instead, he, uh, swerves at the last minute doesn't kill himself,
- 25:05but then the cop sees him.
- 25:06He was hiding behind the sign.
- 25:07You know how those cops are, right?
- 25:09Woo.
- 25:09Anything for a ticket.
- 25:10But, uh, this cop seems a little different.
- 25:12This cop was the T 2000 from Terminator.
- 25:15He's the T 1995.
- 25:18'cause he didn't make the full two.
- 25:21It's like Robocop, if he took the helmet off, like, who is this guy?
- 25:25Oh my God.
- 25:26Tyra year two would've been like the same summer this movie came out, right?
- 25:29Yeah.
- 25:31That's why I kept thinking they ripped him off.
- 25:32Different budgets both have flawless special effects.
- 25:37The, the cop is, I don't know, seven feet tall, 300 pounds, pure muscle,
- 25:41and I don't know, Freddy Kruger skin, the runes carved into his skin.
- 25:45Oh, is that, oh, okay.
- 25:46The runes.
- 25:47And uh, he pulls out his handcuffs, which are literal hands with
- 25:51a chain holding them together.
- 25:53That was punny.
- 25:54It's no hand grenade, but I'll take it.
- 25:56That's right.
- 25:57That was Beetlejuice level kind of stuff right there.
- 25:59So, yeah.
- 25:59So then, uh, Charlie's getting his ID ready, registration and all that.
- 26:04Cop tears the door off snatches Rachel, like he works for ice.
- 26:07Starts taking her to the car and he is like, wait, wait.
- 26:09What the fuck are you doing?
- 26:10Backhand.
- 26:11Charlie knocks him out.
- 26:12It's Mr. Ben and knocks him out.
- 26:14I mean, the dog messed around, found out.
- 26:16By the way, we don't even know her name until this point.
- 26:20I took note of that.
- 26:21When's the first time they say the character's name?
- 26:23So Rachel was said, you know, we're what, 20 minutes into the movie at this point?
- 26:27Yeah.
- 26:27About that.
- 26:27Yeah.
- 26:28Yeah, yeah.
- 26:28And I also noticed at that point, apparently the driver
- 26:30door didn't work on this Pinto.
- 26:32No.
- 26:32And he had to climb out through the window to try to get her from the,
- 26:34like Duke's a hazard to get in it too.
- 26:36Yeah.
- 26:36Yeah.
- 26:38So this is followed by this.
- 26:40Saddest back to the future drive away flame effect I've ever seen.
- 26:45Yeah.
- 26:45A car drives away at what, like four miles an hour and we just see the
- 26:49occasional fire coming out the sides or whatever was falling out on the process
- 26:53of driving away is this jet powered?
- 26:55'cause it sounded like night rider like Kit had that kind of jet whistle to it.
- 26:59You know, they're going down the road.
- 27:00I was like, what is going on with this cop car?
- 27:01Well I thought ev sound to it.
- 27:03It had a wine.
- 27:04I think that was just Charlie.
- 27:06Definitely didn't sound like V eight or whatever.
- 27:09Since you have the database, Dan, was it a Plymouth, was it a Ford?
- 27:12What was it?
- 27:12'cause I was curious.
- 27:13It was a 79 Ford LTD. Really?
- 27:16Oh yeah.
- 27:17Body kit on it for the back.
- 27:19And it looked like they run in to make it sloped as well.
- 27:22Almost like the older seventies.
- 27:24Camaros had that sloped front or the Monte Carlo in the eighties.
- 27:26Is it one of those like George Vera specials or whatever?
- 27:29Yeah, like a modified LDD it seems.
- 27:31Yeah, I thought it looked like a four-door Monte.
- 27:33Carlo to me.
- 27:34See, I thought it was a Plymouth 'cause of the headlights.
- 27:36It had these teeny little rectangle headlights, which are smaller than normal.
- 27:39And the Plymouth Cop cars, at least on the east coast, had
- 27:41a similar kind of front end.
- 27:43So I, at first I was, I wasn't sure what it was, but from the
- 27:45back it looked like a nascar.
- 27:46It had the flares and like all this stuff.
- 27:48And I was like, all right, whatever.
- 27:49You guys were actually all wrong.
- 27:51This one has proven to me that this vehicle is, in fact, the first Tesla.
- 27:56It doesn't have door handle.
- 27:58Yeah, yeah.
- 27:58But it doesn't have keys.
- 28:00It starts on fire randomly.
- 28:03It's a goddamn death trap.
- 28:04So Charlie, he wakes up and realizes, you know, the love of his life is gone.
- 28:09And so he goes back to the gas station and Sam's there like, well, everything
- 28:13going okay, where's your lady?
- 28:14And he's like, what?
- 28:16Some asshole copied, like took her or something.
- 28:18I don't know.
- 28:18He ducked me out and Sam's like, oh hell man.
- 28:22You, uh.
- 28:23You know about the highway to hell.
- 28:25What?
- 28:25What?
- 28:25Yeah, the hell cop.
- 28:26He takes a bunch of girls around here.
- 28:28In fact, 50 years ago he took my lady Clara and shows like
- 28:31a picture and that's right.
- 28:32He like pulls out like newspaper clippings of like five or six girls,
- 28:36you know, from previous movies, I guess, and is like, yep, he took 'em.
- 28:39Did anybody else have the reaction?
- 28:41I had listening to Sam, we're gonna call him Sam since it's Sam's garage,
- 28:45where his level of acting was equivalent to the guy asking you to donate 17
- 28:50cents a day to like the kids in Africa.
- 28:52It was like an infomercial level acting.
- 28:55It was so dull and dry and sadly delivered.
- 28:59Or am I wrong?
- 28:59You, you know who it was.
- 29:01You know, in Waynes world when there's the gas station guy go out, can you
- 29:04tell me how to get to Gordon Street?
- 29:06Gordon Street Gordon?
- 29:07Oh yes, yes.
- 29:08I once knew a girl on Gordon Street when I was a young man.
- 29:12It was like.
- 29:12I know it's a small part, but can we get a better actor than this?
- 29:15And then Charlton Heston steps in and makes everybody cry.
- 29:17Yeah, I think it was the same actor.
- 29:19It was bad, but yeah, so Charlie's like, well, I gotta go Savor.
- 29:22And he is like, alright, well I got this special shotgun I made with these
- 29:26special shells and this beautiful lead sled that's been sitting here
- 29:30for 50 years just in case I ever had the balls to go after Clara.
- 29:34If you wanna go, you can just borrow that because your little POS
- 29:37isn't going anywhere in the hell.
- 29:39Can we talk about the bear?
- 29:41Let's do it.
- 29:41What's with the bear?
- 29:42Jeremy?
- 29:43Allen White is a goddamn amazing actor.
- 29:45I can't imagine, oh my God.
- 29:47In the episode where Jamie Lee Curtis plays his mom.
- 29:50Oh my God.
- 29:50Possibly the greatest episode of television.
- 29:53No.
- 29:53Oh, oh.
- 29:53Are we not talking about the series?
- 29:55The bear?
- 29:55We're talking about that teddy bear with the clock that he gives him.
- 30:00Yeah.
- 30:00What?
- 30:00Oh yeah.
- 30:01CL Claire is alarm clock.
- 30:02Yeah.
- 30:03Okay.
- 30:03I wanna make a note right now about this bear, because to me, I drew a very
- 30:07quick parallel between the bear and the fiance from King of the Mountain.
- 30:11I want you guys to remind me the next.
- 30:13Time we see the bear and the importance and the significance of the bear.
- 30:18At least the bear makes one noise later in the movie.
- 30:21But yeah, so uh oh Yeah.
- 30:22So he gives it the bear clock and is like, well you got 24 hours,
- 30:25otherwise you're stuck in hell forever.
- 30:27I don't make the rules, bill.
- 30:29Just remember, you just gotta go between those two Joshua trees
- 30:32and just start doing donuts or something until you believe, and then
- 30:35you'll be on the highway to hell.
- 30:37Ridiculous.
- 30:38Yep.
- 30:38You have to believe.
- 30:40So let's talk about the car for a second.
- 30:41Dan is my guest, right?
- 30:43That is a Zephyr.
- 30:44No, it's a 1940 Ford VA Deluxe.
- 30:48God, I knew.
- 30:48I was like, it's either a Ford or a Zephyr one or the other.
- 30:50'cause they had a similar front end.
- 30:52Dang.
- 30:52It's so cute though.
- 30:54It is though.
- 30:54So cute.
- 30:55It is very cute.
- 30:56Yeah.
- 30:56I paid such little attention to this movie.
- 30:58I had no idea that the car even changed.
- 31:02Oh man.
- 31:03You thought when the, when a Pinto goes to hell, it becomes a 44.
- 31:07I just didn't care enough to pay attention.
- 31:10Wow.
- 31:10Nice.
- 31:10So as Charlie's pulling away, Sam Allon has the realization,
- 31:14oh wait, I forgot to tell you.
- 31:16There's something special about that car.
- 31:18It's not gonna come back later, guys.
- 31:19Don't worry.
- 31:20Like the teddy bear from the writer of LA Confidential, uh,
- 31:23you all gotta start somewhere.
- 31:24Remember those exercises they used to do in PE where you gotta run
- 31:27between the blocks back and forth?
- 31:29Mm-hmm.
- 31:29This was the vehicle equivalent of that.
- 31:31He's running ladders or whatever.
- 31:33Yeah.
- 31:33Awful.
- 31:34So, yeah, he gets pulled over by the cop car and he's got that shotgun ready.
- 31:38Like, all right, I'm gonna blast this motherfucker right in the face
- 31:40as soon as this demon cop shows up.
- 31:43Spoilers.
- 31:43It's not the hell cop.
- 31:45And he's like, oh shit.
- 31:47In drives off.
- 31:48It's actually Mars Callahan.
- 31:49Who's he?
- 31:50I know.
- 31:51I know.
- 31:51Pool hall junkies.
- 31:52Yeah.
- 31:52So excited to find that out.
- 31:54He was so young.
- 31:54So baby faced.
- 31:56Yeah, so he drives off and he starts, I believe.
- 31:58I believe, I believe, and then the vortex to hell opens up.
- 32:01Did you guys notice where hell was?
- 32:03It's just Utah.
- 32:04Yeah, it's just southern Utah.
- 32:06No big whoop.
- 32:07We went on vacation there.
- 32:08It was great.
- 32:09It is great.
- 32:11Next up, cue the Stillers.
- 32:13Oh yeah.
- 32:15The entire Stiller clan and we pull up to Pluto's Diner and we got a chef
- 32:19Ben Stiller out scraping roadkill off the sidewalk and offering eggs.
- 32:24He's frying on it.
- 32:25Yeah, it's so hot.
- 32:26And hell, you fry eggs right on the sidewalk, babe.
- 32:28There you go.
- 32:29And a guy spoilers.
- 32:30Hell's full of cops.
- 32:31Just absolutely filled to the brim with him.
- 32:35That whole scene reminded me of the waiting room that Beetlejuice is
- 32:39in when he goes to the underworld.
- 32:40Mm-hmm.
- 32:40Yeah, just low budget version of that.
- 32:42But this was just cops waiting for donuts and coffee.
- 32:44I feel like Tim Burton was supposed to do this movie and then
- 32:47they're like, we can't afford him.
- 32:49Get some Dutch dude.
- 32:50Some Dutch dude.
- 32:51One of the cops is Jerry Stiller, who's talking with the waitress.
- 32:54And Amira, you know Ben Stiller's mom?
- 32:58Yeah.
- 32:58They're improving as best they can on short notice.
- 33:01I guess they were on a, a set next door or something.
- 33:04And spoiler, Ben's sister is in the movie too, but that comes later.
- 33:07Oh yeah.
- 33:08Yeah.
- 33:08She comes later.
- 33:10You know, hell cop, he has Rachel or whatever there, she's handcuffed
- 33:13to the diner, you know, where you like hang your purse or whatever.
- 33:16Jerry Stiller steals his donut or something, so heco
- 33:19blast him into a vortex.
- 33:23Yeah.
- 33:23Everybody knew he had that power.
- 33:24Right?
- 33:25Cool.
- 33:25Now we know it's to show why you don't fuck with.
- 33:28But meanwhile, Rachel, she pours the hot coffee on the handcuffs.
- 33:31Ah, so the hand cuff, let's go and she starts running and running until
- 33:35a bunch of bikers surround her.
- 33:36That didn't take too long.
- 33:37And then this biker pulls out Excalibur and is like, hold woman, wait, wait, let's
- 33:42talk about the biker gang for a let's.
- 33:45Yeah, we meet not Molly Ringwald because the budget is so high of this.
- 33:50We had to get somebody who looked like her, that wasn't her.
- 33:53And then we also had to get, not Lorenzo Llamas slash Jason Momoa to
- 33:57play the main motorcycle gang guy.
- 33:59Right.
- 33:59So my wife and I were cracking up.
- 34:01We're like, where did they find all these B lookalike or they all the
- 34:04stunt people for like the main act.
- 34:06But then to take it a step further, I think it was at this point or
- 34:09slightly after, the one guy's kind of like antagonizing Charlie.
- 34:12He's like, eh, he's like all up in his face with a dental mirror.
- 34:15Did anybody else notice that?
- 34:17Yeah, something like that.
- 34:18Am I supposed to be threatened by a dental mirror?
- 34:20I mean, I know dentists can be scary, but, well, I thought he also had like the
- 34:22drill or that later when he has that later he is the drill and he gets the little,
- 34:26you know, mirror thing on his head.
- 34:28Yeah, it's like full dentist.
- 34:29I'm like, okay, sure.
- 34:30But yeah, so, so the bikers, they catch Rachel and helicopter,
- 34:33you know, walks up behind him.
- 34:34They're like, ha ha can't believe this girl got away from you.
- 34:36He cop, tell you what though.
- 34:38I'll give her back to you, but you owe me, owe me big time.
- 34:42Alright, cool.
- 34:43That's the scene.
- 34:43So then we cut to Charlie.
- 34:45He's still uh, driving around, but he pulls over and Lee
- 34:47Ford's there to ask directions.
- 34:49Aha.
- 34:50Yeah.
- 34:51Hey Tiger.
- 34:51What's up?
- 34:52Brett's all on display.
- 34:54Popping in that window.
- 34:55He's like, uh, just, did you see a helicopter drive through
- 34:57here with my girlfriend?
- 34:58Like, what?
- 34:59Whatever.
- 35:00They're probably over at Pluto's.
- 35:01Hey, he got room for two in there and then she backs up and I don't know.
- 35:05The ice cream man shows up and tries to eat his grains.
- 35:08It's three, man.
- 35:09What the fuck's going on there?
- 35:10Like this scoop at your brain?
- 35:12Yeah, the melon baller.
- 35:13You're like, what is going on here?
- 35:15But there's something interesting about this scene.
- 35:17She calls him preacher, and I was like, oh, the car is white
- 35:20and he's going to savor whatever.
- 35:22Remember the car has special powers.
- 35:23That's also part of this whole plot line.
- 35:25Immediately I wrote down.
- 35:27It's an allegory.
- 35:28It's a metaphor.
- 35:30So by her calling him preacher, I think that obviously is
- 35:34foreshadowing of what's coming later.
- 35:35But I thought it was really important.
- 35:36If you didn't catch that little line where she's teasing him or whatever, who cares?
- 35:41But I think it's an important reference to the whole film.
- 35:43Yeah.
- 35:44Say, I didn't catch that.
- 35:44So yeah.
- 35:45Good.
- 35:45Go.
- 35:45This was just Dante's Inferno, that's all this was.
- 35:49No, no.
- 35:49It's something else.
- 35:50So, oops.
- 35:51All bangers.
- 35:51Oh, it's just one of the greatest things in literary history.
- 35:54I agree.
- 35:55Yeah.
- 35:55Yeah.
- 35:56See, I knew you guys would get this movie.
- 35:58We'll talk about it later.
- 35:59So anyway, just like in Dante's Inferno, he pulls out a special
- 36:02shotgun and head canoe and
- 36:06yeah, I mean, scoop out your bread.
- 36:09How about you try it up your own?
- 36:11I wrote down shoots.
- 36:12The dude in the face.
- 36:15Yeah.
- 36:16The bikers show up and they stop.
- 36:18Charlie after he sees the hell cop and stops.
- 36:21For some reason I, I don't know why he would ever stop for a motorcycle.
- 36:26That's just me though.
- 36:27Yeah, but not everybody drives a battle wagon, Steve.
- 36:30So all this goes down and he catches up with the cop, like super easy.
- 36:34Yeah.
- 36:34Yeah.
- 36:34'cause the bikers let him go.
- 36:35But the, you know, again, he is like, you owe me.
- 36:37Okay, cool.
- 36:38Whatever, bro.
- 36:39Did every anybody else know, like when they pulled him outta the car before
- 36:42he went chase, after the he cop and the one biker guy, once again, he is
- 36:45like, you're gonna owe me a favor.
- 36:46And he is got like this joy.
- 36:47It's like, okay, is this gonna be a thing with this guy the respir
- 36:49way through in a movie where he keeps telling You're gonna owe me?
- 36:51Yes.
- 36:51Yeah.
- 36:52It was just, I mean, it does technically come up.
- 36:54Yeah.
- 36:54At the very end end.
- 36:55It didn't seem necessary.
- 36:56You know, I, I think it was to show us that the leader of this
- 36:59biker gang is not just any guy.
- 37:03He is, he's got some power that even the hell cop is willing to owe him.
- 37:08It's that sweet ass sword.
- 37:09Exactly.
- 37:10But yeah, like hell cop doesn't just.
- 37:11Yeah.
- 37:12Him blessed him like he did Jerry Stiller.
- 37:14Yeah.
- 37:14Yeah, exactly.
- 37:14Do we think that's Gabriel's sword?
- 37:16Oh, maybe.
- 37:17Maybe Peter.
- 37:18Yeah.
- 37:18Peter Gabriel.
- 37:19Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 37:21He had a sledge, not a sword.
- 37:23He sword.
- 37:24Oh my bad.
- 37:27How want be a sweet ass sword?
- 37:32You guys have to remember though, the cop stopped for coffee.
- 37:34He had time to catch up.
- 37:36And also we forgot to mention, Charlie recognizes one of the bikers,
- 37:39it's Clara Sam's a old flame from, she hasn't aged in 50 years, but
- 37:44he's like, oh yeah, there we go.
- 37:45Yeah, that's not Molly Ringwald.
- 37:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:48Drives off, catches up to the helicopter and they start trading
- 37:51paint and it was like days of thunder, like when they're going at
- 37:55it in the rental cars, it's awesome.
- 37:57And then, uh, yeah, they do that for a couple minutes and then there's
- 38:00a giant truck blocking the road.
- 38:01For some reason, helicopter just blasts right through it.
- 38:04'cause apparently he can.
- 38:05And Charlie goes off the road, keeps going and going.
- 38:09And then runs out of oil apparently.
- 38:11Okay.
- 38:12Who's the oil pan?
- 38:13Did you catch the imagery here though?
- 38:15The car looked like it was bleeding.
- 38:17Yes.
- 38:17So apparently in hell, you can also call aaa.
- 38:20I don't remember what it said on the side of the truck.
- 38:22Uh oh.
- 38:23It was an anarchy.
- 38:24Armageddon and Annihilation.
- 38:26There it is.
- 38:27Yeah.
- 38:27I want that as a battle patch.
- 38:28Oh babe.
- 38:28But yeah, so we finds this phone in the middle of the desert wandering.
- 38:31'cause he wouldn't just head back towards the road or anything like that.
- 38:34That's crazy to me.
- 38:35By the way.
- 38:35It was like this movie isn't gonna translate for kids.
- 38:38Yes.
- 38:38You, because there aren't phones on the sides of the roads anymore.
- 38:41Yeah.
- 38:4235 years will do that for a lot of movies.
- 38:44It wasn't a rotary, so that moved it out of 1976.
- 38:47Finally.
- 38:48More modernized.
- 38:48This movie, like how he picks up the phone is like, yeah, my
- 38:51car broke down or something.
- 38:52Can I get a tow truck?
- 38:53Uh, your car broke down.
- 38:54Yeah.
- 38:55Looks like you're walking geek.
- 38:58I didn't realize Steve worked for.
- 39:03I work for Triple Z, so shows up the Satanic mechanic, which was
- 39:08written on the side of the tow truck.
- 39:09I think that was cool too.
- 39:10Yeah, like, Hey, where are you going with my car, man?
- 39:14Sorry.
- 39:14I just saw a car broken on the side of the road and I have a
- 39:17tow truck, so that's my business.
- 39:19He says that I pick up a lot of scrap out here.
- 39:21I'll fix it for you though.
- 39:23Got a ride in the back with Adam here though.
- 39:25And we see a little, uh, little kid run around.
- 39:27That's Adam.
- 39:28What's your name, dude?
- 39:29Uh, my name's Bezel.
- 39:30Beasel Bob Albu.
- 39:33Yeah, that was like the first thing I thought of.
- 39:35And of course Little Adam loves Mr.
- 39:37Ben, the dog.
- 39:38Oh, of course.
- 39:39Because who wouldn't we then cut to, uh, the garage and like within
- 39:43three minutes it's like, yep.
- 39:44There you go.
- 39:44All fixed.
- 39:45Hey, do you know how to get the hell city?
- 39:47Yeah.
- 39:47All roads lead to hell.
- 39:48City to Helsinki?
- 39:49Is that what you said?
- 39:50Hell city.
- 39:51Ah, there it is.
- 39:52It's kind of weird though, you know, you mentioned that was
- 39:54your girlfriend or whatever.
- 39:56'cause the he cop, he usually only goes after virgins and of
- 40:00course Charlie's like, what?
- 40:01What?
- 40:01No, we totally like in the back of my Pinto, like Right.
- 40:06Anyone who's ever done in the back of a Pinto.
- 40:08Yeah, totally Not virgins man.
- 40:11Like, all right, well cool then, uh, yeah.
- 40:13Uh, look up.
- 40:14She'll let her go soon then if she's, you know, not a virgin.
- 40:16Yeah.
- 40:16You got nothing to worry about.
- 40:17Then cuts to Charlie hopping in the car and driving off as fast as he can.
- 40:20But Adam's also hanging off the side where Charlie can't see what, and
- 40:25this is where Adam pops up and uh, Charlie's like, what are you doing here?
- 40:28Like, Hey, that didn't come along with you guys.
- 40:30Pops up, he was riding on the sideboard, hanging on the car while
- 40:33he's doing like 70 mile an hour.
- 40:35I was like, did he do his own stunts too?
- 40:37Got me to thinking.
- 40:38'cause some of those older cars, the handle, you would actually physically
- 40:40turn it down to get it to pop open.
- 40:42Yeah.
- 40:43He wouldn't have been able to just hang on its own Unless there was one
- 40:45where you actually pushed in on it.
- 40:46That's not exactly a safe way to hold on there, buddy.
- 40:48Yeah.
- 40:49They found that out after the first three atoms.
- 40:52This is the stuff Dan thinks about the door handle and how it works.
- 40:55Yeah.
- 40:55No, no, you were right though, Dan.
- 40:57Those door handles.
- 40:57Yeah.
- 40:58They just like pull down and Yeah.
- 41:00When they get worn out they just start falling down and
- 41:02things start flopping open.
- 41:03Yeah.
- 41:03Doing there man.
- 41:05We, uh, catch up with the good intentions paving company 'cause you know, the road
- 41:09to hell is paved with good intentions.
- 41:11Ah, but just before that, the guys who are adding the trash to the
- 41:16road I wrote down Is that Devo?
- 41:19It is Devo, yeah, it is.
- 41:20Yeah.
- 41:21It's other devo or flock of seagulls.
- 41:23It's like a hybrid of them two.
- 41:25They're paving that road and uh, we see people walking up like they're
- 41:28going to the pearly gates and like I thought the more medicine would
- 41:33make him better or something like that, you know, it would kill him.
- 41:35And they're like, well, you're next.
- 41:37And they go.
- 41:38I, I slept with my husband's boss to further his career.
- 41:41Yeah.
- 41:42I had to let little Annie drink the bleach the way she'd never learned the lesson.
- 41:46Yeah.
- 41:48Terrible.
- 41:48And of course all these people are turned into basically tar for the road.
- 41:52Very satisfying.
- 41:53That was gruesome too.
- 41:54It's like, ooh, okay.
- 41:55Like the rainstorm they wind up in, it's got like black rain coming
- 41:58down and the one angle, it looks like the water's actually leaking
- 42:01inside the back windows of the car.
- 42:02Yeah, that was messed up.
- 42:03Yeah, there was some inconsistency there.
- 42:05Especially when you see the shots, like the car doesn't have windows
- 42:09at all, but in that scene it doesn't have a passenger window and the back
- 42:12one's leaking and it, it's a mess.
- 42:14I was like, what is going on?
- 42:15Yeah.
- 42:15But then they make their pinky swear pack, they're gonna ride
- 42:17or die and off we go to Hoffa.
- 42:20So this is the point at which I wrote down, 'cause I asked my wife, I was
- 42:24like, what makes this movie R rated?
- 42:26Right?
- 42:28Yeah.
- 42:28It's, it's very PG up until a certain point, uh, Hoffa's Club and we're
- 42:32instantly greeted with boobs and cowboys and Nazis and Rachel's in a
- 42:38cage handcuffed to it and everything.
- 42:41Well, I love how when he was sitting there, Gilbert Gar
- 42:42was like, I'm not Hitler.
- 42:43I'm a 17-year-old boy.
- 42:44I like being in my room playing video games.
- 42:46Yeah, that was really funny.
- 42:48Yeah, I bet that was completely ad-lib too.
- 42:50I, I think all the comedy was ad-libbed in this one.
- 42:53I would be curious.
- 42:54So like how many other versions of that rant they have, they have three hours of
- 42:59Gil Godfrey ranting, like I'm actually a 14-year-old Australian girl and Australia.
- 43:04I could see how you get them confused.
- 43:07Charlie's walking around, you know, taking his sweet time,
- 43:09enjoying the scenery by the way.
- 43:10I like that.
- 43:11Helicopter stop.
- 43:11He has a special delivery for his boss.
- 43:14Mm-hmm.
- 43:14And he stops at as a true cop.
- 43:16Would both a uh, donut shop.
- 43:18And a strip club.
- 43:19Yeah.
- 43:20Mm-hmm.
- 43:20Steve, your dad was a sheriff?
- 43:22Oh yeah.
- 43:22Well, the strip club, I can explain.
- 43:24He's getting his side money to let certain things go on there that may not be legal.
- 43:28Like I'm assuming gambling isn't legal in hell unless the double gets his cut.
- 43:32Makes a lot of sense.
- 43:34Yeah.
- 43:34Charlie finds Rachel like, starts trying to freeze her by the way.
- 43:37He just walked.
- 43:37He was wandering around with a shotgun, wasn't even hiding
- 43:40it or anything in this one.
- 43:41And then, uh, helicopters like, Hey, what, you know, starts walking
- 43:44towards was like, what are you doing?
- 43:47Charlie shoots him.
- 43:48No, sells that shit.
- 43:49Like the Undertaker helicopter.
- 43:50Just blast Charlie in the chest with his gun roll credits.
- 43:55Guys, what do we think of Highway to Hell, by the way, when Steve
- 43:58says he cop says, what's up?
- 43:59He cop actually has no lines.
- 44:00Yeah, no, no lines.
- 44:01But he is like walking up, like gets get away from her.
- 44:04All right.
- 44:04He gets the look, you know, you know, he cop grabs Rachel, throws him in the car.
- 44:08Bezel just shows up.
- 44:10His shift is over.
- 44:11He's gonna have a cocktail, right?
- 44:12But he sees Charlie lying on the ground with his chest
- 44:15open from the shotgun wound.
- 44:16He's basically like, I can fix you, but Adam, you gotta promise to stay with me.
- 44:20You can't run away with him.
- 44:21And Adam's like, okay, I guess so.
- 44:24See Charlie.
- 44:26Ugh, ugh.
- 44:28And to hold that, ugh, all that.
- 44:30Just, it's awful.
- 44:32Yeah.
- 44:32Luckily it doesn't get any worse from here.
- 44:34So then we cut to a table where, uh, Hitler, Cleopatra, and
- 44:38Genus Kahan are playing cards.
- 44:41It's like my favorite part played by Gilbert Godfrey is Hitler Ben Stiller's
- 44:45sister, I think Amy as Cleopatra.
- 44:48Yeah.
- 44:48And Ben Stiller.
- 44:49As Genghis Khan?
- 44:50Yes.
- 44:51Wow.
- 44:51That's almost like John Wayne or Richard Tyson or something.
- 44:54How early was this in Ben Stiller's career that his whole
- 44:57family had to come with him?
- 44:58I think he's off of Jerry Stiller's career at this point, like, yeah.
- 45:02Yeah.
- 45:02I wanna say like 93 was when he was on MTV.
- 45:05Right.
- 45:06So like right after this, gotta start somewhere.
- 45:08Right.
- 45:09But yeah, Charlie's okay.
- 45:10Bezel fixed him up.
- 45:11Bezels kinda like, look dude, you can always just go,
- 45:14Rachel will be okay down here.
- 45:16I hear that the devil takes care of, of his ladies, you know?
- 45:19Right.
- 45:19A big part of this movie is that like they're still alive
- 45:22and everybody else is dead.
- 45:24And like the dead can tell that they're still alive.
- 45:26Yep.
- 45:26Is Charlie still counted as being alive now?
- 45:29He's resurrected.
- 45:30Yeah.
- 45:30Well babe, if you kill somebody in hell, where are they gonna go?
- 45:32Detroit?
- 45:35Hey, I lived in Detroit.
- 45:38Wow.
- 45:39Am I dead?
- 45:40Shots fired.
- 45:41Okay.
- 45:41The, the whole killing someone and hell, thing's gonna come up again later in the
- 45:44movie and I'm just gonna be like, well, where the fuck are they going anyway?
- 45:47Uhhuh.
- 45:48They go to second hell, the seventh ring of Dante's Inferno or whatever.
- 45:51Right.
- 45:51Where are we?
- 45:52Oh, yeah.
- 45:52So, but you know, Charlie's like, no, no, no.
- 45:54She's definitely the the best girl I'm ever gonna have a chance with.
- 45:57I'm not my brother.
- 45:58I'm not a sheen, I'm not an estevez.
- 46:00I have no chance with a girl like Christy Swanson, bezels like, alright,
- 46:03well I know a shortcut to hell city.
- 46:06I can give you some directions or whatever.
- 46:08And I like, as we pan away from this scene, there's a table with reserved
- 46:11spots for, uh, Kadafi and Jerry Lewis and a couple other people.
- 46:15I wasn't able to write 'em all down.
- 46:16Did you guys catch any of them?
- 46:17No.
- 46:17I caught those two for sure.
- 46:18It went by real quick.
- 46:19Yeah.
- 46:20Yeah.
- 46:21The other one I started reading.
- 46:21I'm like, I, I don't even know who that is.
- 46:23I assume it's like somebody's lawyer or something.
- 46:25Like a little inside joke.
- 46:26So now we're outside of Hoffa's before he goes to the next location,
- 46:31and this is where I wanna stop for a second and talk about bezels car.
- 46:34The red car?
- 46:35Mm-hmm.
- 46:35Do we know what the red car is?
- 46:38Was it a vet? No, it was a kit car.
- 46:39Right?
- 46:40Because it had these weird scissor doors.
- 46:42But they weren't complete doors.
- 46:43They were like half doors.
- 46:44It was very strange.
- 46:46And they shot it at odd angle so you couldn't get a full picture of the car.
- 46:49So what does it say in the database?
- 46:50It's credited as a Manta montage.
- 46:53Is that some weird beetle thing?
- 46:55Gonna be a montage hit car built on a VW Beetle chassis.
- 47:00Oh wow.
- 47:00This looks like the coyote from Hard Castle and McCormick Wild.
- 47:06I knew you'd love this movie.
- 47:08Oh, I would drive this all day.
- 47:10This is awesome.
- 47:11Now I get to see the whole thing.
- 47:12Alright, now it makes sense why the doors are the way they are.
- 47:15Okay.
- 47:16Thank you Dan.
- 47:17You're welcome.
- 47:17So Charlie's, uh, continuing on his journey.
- 47:19He's got the shortcut directions now, but damn it, those bikers show
- 47:22up and start chasing them and one of them pees green or something on
- 47:25the windshield, I don't know, is.
- 47:26It was shot.
- 47:27Kind of weird, but it was like, should I be vomiting with the
- 47:30biker pissing on the window?
- 47:32It was all greeny or whatever.
- 47:34Instead of flipping the wipers on, he reaches out with his hand.
- 47:36Yeah.
- 47:37To let you know it's as, because he's like, ah.
- 47:38And it's like burning his hand and then he flips the wipers on.
- 47:40I'm like, jackass, you should flipped the wipers on.
- 47:42But I like how the wipers relax.
- 47:44Ah.
- 47:44Like they're doing their own thing badly.
- 47:46Cars of that era.
- 47:47That's about how the wipers work.
- 47:48Yeah, I was gonna say, I seem to remember from my dad working on those, that
- 47:52they worked off of either the engine pressure or the engine like RPMs.
- 47:56The faster you drove, the faster they would, the slower
- 47:58you drive, the slower they go.
- 48:00Some of 'em worked off vacuum before they started putting actual mechanical
- 48:02motors in there where it uses an arm to push it back and forth.
- 48:05Ah, okay.
- 48:06And that causes Charlie to pull off road directly to where he was supposed to go.
- 48:10Apparently to uh, slot Canyon, to nowhere.
- 48:13The helicopter car is parked out there and he just walked through this
- 48:16beautiful slot canyon in southern Utah.
- 48:18The cave I was thinking yeah.
- 48:20Playdoh.
- 48:21So this is a dec cave.
- 48:22This is a slot canyon.
- 48:23Uh, potato.
- 48:25Potato, tomato, tomato.
- 48:26Oh, we're in the, no, don't wait man.
- 48:27We're in the southwest.
- 48:28Sounds like someone doesn't know what a slot can is.
- 48:30Someone hiked a slot canyon.
- 48:32I thought it was a weird innuendo.
- 48:34No, no slot came.
- 48:34It's like a cave, but with better lighting.
- 48:36It's, it's true though.
- 48:37When he turned on it, it had the sign for the road to nowhere and had like
- 48:40the little black and yellow cattle gate looking thing that he crossed over.
- 48:43The bikers came and stopped that.
- 48:45Almost like they weren't allowed into that area.
- 48:46Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:47Weird to me.
- 48:48But then one of the bikers does make it through there.
- 48:51It's Clara.
- 48:52What?
- 48:53Like, she's straight outta pet cemetery.
- 48:54Don't go down that road.
- 48:56He'll try to tempt you, Charlie, you may not be able to get
- 48:59outta here and blah, blah, blah.
- 49:00And he's like, I gotta try.
- 49:02It's Christy Swanson, man.
- 49:03And, and she's like, are you sure she's gonna pick you?
- 49:06Yeah.
- 49:07Think about it.
- 49:07I didn't pick Sam.
- 49:09Yeah.
- 49:09He goes down to Slot Canyon.
- 49:10There's a little door.
- 49:11Goes through it goes up some stairs, opens up and oh my God, there's
- 49:15the honeymoon suite with Rachel already tied to the bed, ready to go.
- 49:19DETF, have sex with me please, Charlie, the devil make a love to me.
- 49:24Yeah, yeah.
- 49:25The make love to me.
- 49:26Then the devil won't want me.
- 49:27I'm like, you convincing point, da da da da da da.
- 49:30Yet.
- 49:31Yeah.
- 49:32See Steve, you would've fallen for the trap.
- 49:34I mean, yes.
- 49:34This is a classic honeypot, barf, barf and more barf.
- 49:39And then, uh, you know, we hear some noises and someone's
- 49:42coming and I'm like, yeah, me.
- 49:44Okay.
- 49:45So hell cops come and he comes through that wall.
- 49:47They fight for a bit, him and Charlie.
- 49:49He basically grabs Charlie and spins him around like Conan to the destroyer.
- 49:52Yeah.
- 49:53Y'all know what I'm talking about.
- 49:54Like that was a figure skating move.
- 49:57This is where 80 WW Wrestling came into play.
- 50:00But then, uh, Charlie gets a hold of gun
- 50:04blossom and sends he cop through a vortex.
- 50:07Okay.
- 50:07That was cool.
- 50:08Yeah.
- 50:08And helicopters, close gun and glasses.
- 50:12And the, uh, the handcuffs are the pine Oh yeah, the handcuffs too.
- 50:15That's right.
- 50:15Yeah.
- 50:16You know, Rachel, she, uh, she still wants that d Yeah.
- 50:19But then, but then the cgi, I goes completely turd, man.
- 50:24Bill Pullman, weird science.
- 50:26If you didn't throw up a little in the back of your throat at this
- 50:29point, I don't know what to say.
- 50:30And Charlie, he's messed up.
- 50:31He's got blood all over his face and she's like, ah.
- 50:33Like, like just kissing.
- 50:35Get off of them.
- 50:36Oh, yeah.
- 50:38Oh, I love corn syrup.
- 50:40So gross.
- 50:42And Charlie's a little suss 'cause he is like, look, I thought
- 50:45we were waiting till Vegas.
- 50:46Here's your necklace back, by the way.
- 50:48And she's like, yeah, yeah.
- 50:48Cool.
- 50:49Tosses at this side.
- 50:50And uh, this is when Charlie, uh, catches the, the mirror's reflection.
- 50:54See the mirror?
- 50:55It comes back.
- 50:56Dan, you understand now the mirror why it's important.
- 50:59That way you can tell if it's a demon or not.
- 51:01Yeah.
- 51:01How can you tell she's a demon?
- 51:02Uh, hello.
- 51:04Her reflection demon boobs.
- 51:06That's why.
- 51:09So gross.
- 51:10The horns and the tail, and, ugh.
- 51:12Oh yeah, yeah.
- 51:13But that stuff too.
- 51:14But it's the boobs that give it away.
- 51:16Yeah.
- 51:17That's what thing.
- 51:17I dunno if you guys have noticed or not.
- 51:19Steve's a boob guy.
- 51:20I mean,
- 51:22yeah.
- 51:22So then, oh, you're a demon, you're a nicodemon with a tail and stuff.
- 51:26We're gonna fight now.
- 51:27And, uh, tail whipping around.
- 51:30Fight Charlie.
- 51:31Oh, she breaks the mirror again and Charlie grabs one
- 51:33of the shards and stabs her.
- 51:35Ah.
- 51:35And then blasts her with the gun
- 51:39and she sinks into the bed and into second hell, I guess.
- 51:43Definitely gonna stab a fiery report.
- 51:46Him cutting her with the, uh, shard of glass.
- 51:48He didn't so much stab her, like it didn't look like her tail.
- 51:50So I don't know.
- 51:51Does she have like an umbilical cord?
- 51:52'cause it goes out around his neck.
- 51:53Yeah, that's what I thought too.
- 51:54Oh yeah.
- 51:56It was her tail.
- 51:57I was like, what the hell is this creepy shit?
- 51:58And then he like cuts it off of her and he's got some ooze that pops out
- 52:01of it and it's like, that was weird.
- 52:02It was the grossest part of the whole movie.
- 52:04I mean, just, Ugh.
- 52:05Pretty sure it was her tail.
- 52:06Yeah, it was, you got somebody's tail off, you'll get some goo
- 52:08out of it, that's for sure.
- 52:09You're talking second hell to me, it reminded of Ghostbusters when they put
- 52:13the thing in the machine and they get sucked into that other vortex world.
- 52:17That's what that looked like to me.
- 52:18Yeah, she looked like.
- 52:20One of the monsters from Earnest.
- 52:23Yes.
- 52:24Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 52:25The trolls or whatever.
- 52:26Yeah.
- 52:26Also 1991.
- 52:27Oh shit.
- 52:28Was it really that long ago?
- 52:29God, yes it was.
- 52:30So Charlie had that happen.
- 52:31So he just quietly leaves the room, goes down the stairs, out the door through
- 52:36this lock canyon back to his car, and yeah, just kinda drives off right into
- 52:41the middle of a Volkswagen bug rally.
- 52:43Tanya, you had to have been excited by this part at least there was
- 52:46every conceivable variation of a Beatle in there you could think of.
- 52:49That was awesome.
- 52:50It was slug bug rally championship.
- 52:52It didn't understand the point of it.
- 52:54No, there's traffic.
- 52:54'cause you're in hell.
- 52:55It was the rush hour from hell.
- 52:57It's the middle of Utah and they didn't realize they were filming
- 52:59when the Mint 400 was going on.
- 53:03And were they saying the Volkswagen Beadle is the actual sponsored car of hell?
- 53:07The official car of hell.
- 53:08I mean, that's what Jeremy Clarkson says all the time.
- 53:11I thought he said the worst car ever was the Lexus SC four 30.
- 53:14But I digress.
- 53:15No,
- 53:18you haven't figured it out by now.
- 53:20But yeah, in the middle of this beetle traffic or whatever, we see
- 53:22Charlie's in the car, we see the helicopter and you know his cop car.
- 53:25They're trying to chase each other.
- 53:27But yeah, the bugs are trading paint.
- 53:31And then, I don't know, there's like the tunnel road out of fast four or whatever.
- 53:35I said the same thing.
- 53:36It was like the Mexico scene.
- 53:38He goes flying outta there like wow.
- 53:41Well during all this he cop, he's got Rachel in the back seat and
- 53:44it's like a TV up in the front.
- 53:45Oh yeah.
- 53:45And it shows being like this famous violin player or whatever, I guess,
- 53:49to try to coerce her to wanna stay.
- 53:51That leads us into the devil scene for the first time.
- 53:54But just before that, did anybody else see, well, you couldn't not see
- 53:57it, which was the California Raisins, Claymation, Cerberus, that was Garbing.
- 54:01The entrance to the Devil's Layer, quote unquote.
- 54:04The budget of this film must have been incredible.
- 54:07We'll get to it.
- 54:08Luckily, little Dog Ben finally plays into the movie and
- 54:11distracts Serra so he can get by.
- 54:13And then there's this tall, blonde crossing guy that operates the raft that
- 54:17goes through the river sticks or whatever.
- 54:18Oh yeah.
- 54:19That guy looked familiar to anybody.
- 54:20Who was that?
- 54:21Well, he shouldn't.
- 54:21'cause it's the guy that played the Predator.
- 54:23No, really?
- 54:25In the costume.
- 54:26Yeah.
- 54:26Yeah.
- 54:26He's been a bunch of tall horror creatures over the years.
- 54:29But yeah, predators probably most famous like Peter, Peter, Kevin Hall.
- 54:32Does he do the sound effect too?
- 54:34No, I think that's somebody else.
- 54:35But yeah, he passed away shortly after this.
- 54:38Yeah.
- 54:39Oh wow.
- 54:39Gone too soon.
- 54:40But anyway, so they get to the tower.
- 54:42I like how he like walks into this tower and there's like
- 54:45the apple of Eden on display.
- 54:47Like a little glass case.
- 54:48Yeah.
- 54:49Before he went in there.
- 54:50Do you guys the one point where he's running away from like
- 54:53all the Napoleon's army guys?
- 54:54Oh yeah.
- 54:55He shuts the door and slides the mop handle through.
- 54:57Yep.
- 54:57I would love to know what Hollywood makes their mop handles out of
- 55:00Where they can never break 'em open.
- 55:01Yeah.
- 55:02Yeah.
- 55:02Right.
- 55:02Like an entire legion can't open.
- 55:04Yeah.
- 55:05Basically saloon doors because of a mop handle.
- 55:07Also, I like that he's running through this tower, hiding the shotgun by like
- 55:11wrapping it in a a shirt or something.
- 55:14Yeah, right.
- 55:14Like, gee, I wonder what the guy's holding.
- 55:16I also felt like the scene where he walks in as Dan describes with the Napoleon
- 55:20soldiers, you know, there were different soldiers of different armies or whatever.
- 55:23It was almost like the video games when we were kids, like if you knew
- 55:27that you walked into this square and didn't move for a minute and then you
- 55:30know, the pattern changes and if you turn to the left and move two squares
- 55:33over and then one square up and then stopped, it felt like he could have
- 55:37done that and gotten through that room and nobody would've noticed him.
- 55:39But instead, you know, he goes in flailing with his gun wrapped in a t-shirt or
- 55:42whatever, and I'm just like, terrible.
- 55:44He's definitely never played Mow your solid.
- 55:47Exactly right.
- 55:48You gotta find a box.
- 55:49You know?
- 55:49Hell, I don't think he's ever gotten to one of the castles in Mario.
- 55:52Your princess is in another castle.
- 55:55Aw damnit.
- 55:55God damnit.
- 55:57He walks into a janitor's closet.
- 55:59Apparently it's not a janitor's closet.
- 56:02It's like where somebody holds their harem.
- 56:05Yeah.
- 56:06Mm-hmm.
- 56:06Her room.
- 56:07Yeah.
- 56:07Yeah.
- 56:08And uh, Rachel's just in there playing the violin and uh, Charlie's like,
- 56:12Rachel's that you, but then he is also like, holds the shotgun on her.
- 56:15Like, hold on a sec, let me see you in a mirror.
- 56:17Yeah, he'd be skeptical too, right?
- 56:19I mean, come on that pre, but then Rachel's like, I
- 56:21thought you were dead, Charlie.
- 56:22And I'm like, uhoh, this is going, I thought you were dead.
- 56:25I moved on.
- 56:26It's been 15 minutes since I thought you die.
- 56:28Yeah.
- 56:29So he gives, uh, Rachel the necklace and she's like, oh, Charlie, I love you.
- 56:32They start kissing and blah, blah, blah before slip, babe.
- 56:35It's a bracelet.
- 56:35Is it a bracelet?
- 56:36I don't know, whatever.
- 56:37It's a little piece of jewelry.
- 56:38But then
- 56:44somebody has shown up in their full devil form and we're totally
- 56:47not supposed to know who it is.
- 56:49Whoa.
- 56:50So I wrote down.
- 56:51The devil looks like an alien from Star Trek.
- 56:54Yeah, totally.
- 56:55Alien Early next Gen, star Trek, which was again, this time period.
- 56:59He's a olian or whatever.
- 57:01Yeah, yeah.
- 57:01And then my wife goes, why did they make him cross-eyed?
- 57:04Yeah, yeah.
- 57:06The contacts are whatever.
- 57:08I don't think they were sinking quite right so bad.
- 57:12Basically, uh, Charlie's like, Hey, we're leaving devil's.
- 57:15Like, you know, she may not want to, I mean, also.
- 57:19Is she a virgin?
- 57:20Because I wouldn't be interested in her unless she was.
- 57:24And then Steve's next note is, I know how to settle this argument.
- 57:27Walk right in front of the devil.
- 57:29Mm-hmm.
- 57:30You know, it's Rachel this time.
- 57:32Fool me once.
- 57:32Shame on you, fool me twice.
- 57:34Shame on me.
- 57:35But no.
- 57:35Then the devil goes in a whole monologue about, you know what?
- 57:38I don't think it's love.
- 57:39I think it's fear in vanity and whatever that's keeping you
- 57:43together and blah, blah blah.
- 57:44And he is like, fine, go but on one condition.
- 57:47Do not look back.
- 57:49Smash cut to Charlie Bumble fucking in his way to looking back.
- 57:53And then all of a sudden the army some fell.
- 57:55Rachel was behind him, like by the hand.
- 57:57She tripped and fell and said Ouch.
- 58:00So he turned to make sure she was okay.
- 58:02But then yeah.
- 58:03Yeah, I wrote down, 'cause I told you I'd bring it back up.
- 58:06Where is the bear if the bear is the timekeeper?
- 58:09A lot of things have transpired.
- 58:10All of this is supposed to be happening in 24 hours.
- 58:12Where is the bear?
- 58:13Probably on the floorboard.
- 58:15Those things don't have smooth dashboards.
- 58:16Come on.
- 58:17Where's the bear?
- 58:18Maybe Mr. Ben's got it in the backseat.
- 58:19Well maybe it's in, uh, the he cops car.
- 58:21'cause they still that car, the Tesla of the nineties.
- 58:24Yes.
- 58:25And start driving off.
- 58:26Yeah.
- 58:26Yeah.
- 58:26They have to swipe to try and find the Oh, yeah.
- 58:28Handle, yeah.
- 58:29Yeah.
- 58:29They gotta do the, you know, spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch or whatever
- 58:33to, so when they steal the PE cop's car, she kind of hot wires it with the
- 58:37spaghetti mess under the dash uhhuh, which I bring up earlier on when they stopped
- 58:42at Sam's and was having some trouble, she popped the hood and it's like,
- 58:44she jiggles like three or four things underneath when I didn't wanna start.
- 58:47And she's like, oh, I took shop class.
- 58:48I'm like, what shop class taught you to just jiggle wires and it's gonna work.
- 58:51Now?
- 58:51See, I did immediately think of my first car, my 75 Ford Courier pickup.
- 58:56Sometimes it wouldn't start, it was because the battery cables had oxidized.
- 59:00So I'd have to have somebody go out and jiggle the battery
- 59:02cables while I was starting it.
- 59:03There you go.
- 59:04Sandpaper your friend.
- 59:06Yeah, nobody told me that.
- 59:08So I just got people to jiggle battery cables for like three years.
- 59:12There you go.
- 59:13But eventually they get in the cop car and they start driving off and I
- 59:16wrote down why they gotta be midgets.
- 59:20Talking about the Legion army and I was like, what is going on?
- 59:23You?
- 59:23You only gotta pay 'em half.
- 59:24That's why Eric, to budget again.
- 59:26And then they have to drive through faith walls.
- 59:29Yeah, like you, you gotta believe that you're gonna go through
- 59:32that wall just by, I believe.
- 59:33I believe.
- 59:34And they do.
- 59:35And they go across the giant chasm and land right next to the lead sled.
- 59:39So then they can switch cars again.
- 59:40Cock, he starts tossing little people mechanics off of his car again.
- 59:45Why they gotta be midgets.
- 59:46That's sad 'cause because you had 'em from the earlier scene
- 59:49because they toss funnier.
- 59:52Yeah.
- 59:53That's awesome.
- 59:54So then, uh, yeah, the Chase continues.
- 59:56That's right.
- 59:56He's trying to go back to, uh, bezels chop shopper or whatever, his garage.
- 1:00:01But then, wait a minute, this looks like a Trump tower or some shit.
- 1:00:04What's going on here?
- 1:00:05When they were pulling off that building, I was thinking they were,
- 1:00:07he initially he was going to another strip code because you noticed.
- 1:00:09Out front.
- 1:00:10He had the, the sign for the building going down and going back up.
- 1:00:13It said Fallen Angel on it.
- 1:00:14I thought it was like another strip club because it had like a woman silhouette.
- 1:00:16No, that was, that was the name of the garage service station.
- 1:00:19Yeah.
- 1:00:19That he went to when he had to fix the Ford.
- 1:00:21Not Zephyr, preacher Mobile.
- 1:00:23Was it also the name of the strip club?
- 1:00:24No, the strip club was Hoffa's.
- 1:00:26Yeah, the strip club was Hoffa.
- 1:00:27Oh yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 1:00:28Yeah.
- 1:00:29Going up to it, it had the sign out front and it said Fallen Angel and
- 1:00:32it was rotating down a pole and going back up it, yeah, yeah, it sure was.
- 1:00:35Yeah.
- 1:00:35Yeah.
- 1:00:35I saw that earlier.
- 1:00:36When he goes there the first time, they show that imagery
- 1:00:38of the angel falling down.
- 1:00:39Yeah.
- 1:00:40Yeah.
- 1:00:40He knows how to go attract customers with his signage.
- 1:00:43A hundred percent.
- 1:00:43Plus people going in there, like, I was kind of expecting something else, but uh,
- 1:00:47while I'm here, can you change my oil?
- 1:00:49Bezel comes out and he is in a suit and he's basically like, Hey
- 1:00:53Charlie, what are you guys doing here?
- 1:00:54I thought you were leaving.
- 1:00:55And he is like, yeah, but we're taking Adam with us.
- 1:00:58But Adam's like I promised I would stay with him and like, yeah, but I
- 1:01:01promised I would take you with us.
- 1:01:03Okay, let's go instantly.
- 1:01:06Adam's like running out there and oh my gosh.
- 1:01:08We find out.
- 1:01:09Bezels the devil.
- 1:01:10What?
- 1:01:11Yeah, we did the whole time.
- 1:01:12Come on guys.
- 1:01:12Dave Batista was a werewolf.
- 1:01:14Anyway, sorry, this was a recent episode we just did too.
- 1:01:17And then, yeah, the, the Devil Bele or whatever, he starts going
- 1:01:20monologue a bit like, you know, there's many levels of hell.
- 1:01:23People think the world is ending.
- 1:01:24That's just wishful thinking, man.
- 1:01:26Like mm-hmm It gets so much worse before it gets worse.
- 1:01:31Oh man, I felt this one deep in my soul.
- 1:01:34Adam is mine, so, oh, and he, he says the, like, Adam will hit back
- 1:01:37eventually, but he is just not ready yet.
- 1:01:39He needs to finish his studies.
- 1:01:41'cause I'm just like, oh, Adam's the Antichrist cool.
- 1:01:43Yeah, exactly.
- 1:01:44He's Damian, basically.
- 1:01:46Yes.
- 1:01:46Yeah.
- 1:01:47But then we get the point in the movie where even I am like,
- 1:01:49wait, what's happening right now?
- 1:01:51Because Charlie's like, I'll raise you for him.
- 1:01:53It's let's make a deal.
- 1:01:55Yeah.
- 1:01:55And the Devil's is kinda like, no.
- 1:01:58And then it, they, they're like raising the stakes.
- 1:02:00Were like, like, look, if I lose the race, you can keep at 'em.
- 1:02:02And the devil's like, no, fuck off.
- 1:02:04I'm keeping him anyway.
- 1:02:05But then Rachel's like, and I'll stay two.
- 1:02:07And Charlie's like, oh, hold on, hold on.
- 1:02:09What?
- 1:02:09Which by the way, that's a big guarantee for a kid she just met.
- 1:02:14It kind of makes you think maybe she wants to stay.
- 1:02:16Right?
- 1:02:16Right.
- 1:02:17Doesn't Bezel make a comment?
- 1:02:18Okay.
- 1:02:19If you do.
- 1:02:19He is like, I want a child with you and I want a son or something like that.
- 1:02:23But he also says sometimes I can't get what I want.
- 1:02:25Where is the bear sitting in the backseat of the Ford?
- 1:02:28It's in the car.
- 1:02:30It's waiting for the right moment.
- 1:02:32It's kinda like that thing that's special with the car.
- 1:02:35Yeah.
- 1:02:35Yeah.
- 1:02:35But just before that.
- 1:02:36Now he sets it up.
- 1:02:37He's not gonna race.
- 1:02:38He's gonna race with Super cop.
- 1:02:40Yeah.
- 1:02:40Hill cop.
- 1:02:41Yeah.
- 1:02:41Yeah.
- 1:02:41The T 2000 and they're gonna go at it Drag race to the end.
- 1:02:44It's, it's almost as long of a drag race as Fast and the Furious when
- 1:02:47they're trying to get on the airplane.
- 1:02:48Yeah.
- 1:02:48Yeah.
- 1:02:49It's a good 18 mile track.
- 1:02:51Yeah.
- 1:02:51I don't know if you guys caught it.
- 1:02:53I appreciated it.
- 1:02:54It was the imagery when the race starts, which is what we're leading up to right
- 1:02:58now, is the beginning of the race.
- 1:02:59Bezel, the devil, whatever, is walking along and he's kind of walking up that
- 1:03:03hill 'cause he wants to watch the race.
- 1:03:05Mm-hmm.
- 1:03:05And in my head, suddenly of Depeche mode, enjoy the silence.
- 1:03:09Dragging a lawn chair and a guy with an umbrella.
- 1:03:11This is it right here.
- 1:03:12David Gahan needs to show up and, but this is the soundtrack of
- 1:03:15the movie right now, you know?
- 1:03:18Yep.
- 1:03:18So yeah, race starts, they get to the starting part.
- 1:03:20Yeah.
- 1:03:21The bikers are there too, with Royce and Cla and all.
- 1:03:23And they showed up along the way, Royce starts bitching
- 1:03:26about, well, I wanna go too.
- 1:03:27I want a chance to get outta here and do the devil's work on earth.
- 1:03:30And the devil's like, look dude, you're just a great disappointment to me.
- 1:03:34Just kinda walks away and I'm like, Ooh, harsh.
- 1:03:36So then the bikers leave, you know, Royce and Claire are on one bike and
- 1:03:39just chasing after cock and Charlie, and pulls out the sword and just starts
- 1:03:44stabbing the at little lead sled, like at Adam and Christie on that side
- 1:03:48or whatever, and just going to town.
- 1:03:51But then Clara Hero, the movie pulls off her scarf and starts blinding
- 1:03:55'em and pulling his head back with a scarf slide off the road.
- 1:03:58Fall off a cliff.
- 1:04:00Roy is impaled by his own sword, right before they go
- 1:04:02off the cliff and all of that.
- 1:04:04When Claire is blinding him, she says, no, you can't stop them.
- 1:04:07They're still alive.
- 1:04:08And he goes, so am I. Ooh, interesting.
- 1:04:11Yeah, there you go.
- 1:04:11But then, uh, yeah, he cop, he's a trading paint with Charlie, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:04:16And then pop Charlie, bless them in the fucking head.
- 1:04:20But the car's still driving.
- 1:04:22Yep.
- 1:04:22Adam says, you gotta break his glasses.
- 1:04:25And he is like, you haven't told me this before.
- 1:04:26Like, well now I'm on your side.
- 1:04:29Right?
- 1:04:29But there's only one shotgun.
- 1:04:30Shell left.
- 1:04:31Oh shit.
- 1:04:32I buble fucked and dropped it.
- 1:04:33And instead of the seat quick, we gotta grab it.
- 1:04:35Rachel, help me.
- 1:04:36You gotta grab it.
- 1:04:37Blah, blah, blah.
- 1:04:37He has a whole bunch of that while they're driving around.
- 1:04:39But then while she's looking for that shell, she finds something.
- 1:04:43She doesn't find the bear.
- 1:04:44No, she does not find the thing Mr. Ben.
- 1:04:47But perhaps something even better, she finds the nos, nos.
- 1:04:52And so then they start living life a quarter mile at a time.
- 1:04:54Victory.
- 1:04:55They win.
- 1:04:56There we go.
- 1:04:57Did anybody else enjoy their faces being stretched back
- 1:05:00when like they hit the Yeah.
- 1:05:01Yeah.
- 1:05:02Again, the budget of this film.
- 1:05:04I thought that was hilarious.
- 1:05:05Yeah.
- 1:05:05So then, uh, back in the real world, uh, the card comes flying out immediately.
- 1:05:10Crutches into like real cop or whatever.
- 1:05:12Yeah.
- 1:05:13Mars Callahan.
- 1:05:13Yeah.
- 1:05:14Mars Callahan.
- 1:05:14Yeah.
- 1:05:15Yeah.
- 1:05:15Here's your answer.
- 1:05:16The bear's on the dash.
- 1:05:17There we are.
- 1:05:18Search, ringing, pull it outta the backseat.
- 1:05:21From where Mr. Ben was the force of going through the portal.
- 1:05:24They just made it just in time.
- 1:05:26The human cop is still sitting there waiting.
- 1:05:28Yeah.
- 1:05:28For 24 hours.
- 1:05:29Yeah, that was my thing too, is like, what, what?
- 1:05:31No guys, it's 24 hours.
- 1:05:32He's just back on his shift.
- 1:05:33He went home.
- 1:05:34Oh yeah.
- 1:05:35There we go.
- 1:05:35Night sleep.
- 1:05:36Yeah.
- 1:05:36Changed his clothes and everything.
- 1:05:37Yeah, he changed his clothes 'cause he shattered his pants
- 1:05:39when the shotgun was pulled off.
- 1:05:41He had time to like basically work the rest of his shift.
- 1:05:44Harass the minorities, have some donuts, go home, beat his wife, get a
- 1:05:48full night's sleep and then come back.
- 1:05:52But then, uh, that's when the, he cops comes through the, the billboard and
- 1:05:55shit just starts on fire everywhere.
- 1:05:58Awesome.
- 1:05:59That was actually pretty awesome.
- 1:06:00What that means is they had money left over and they needed to use it.
- 1:06:04And this final scene we're just gonna torch everything done.
- 1:06:07Was there a burning bush?
- 1:06:08Oh, there had to be.
- 1:06:10Oh, that's a burning Joshua tree anyway.
- 1:06:12Yeah.
- 1:06:12Yeah.
- 1:06:13Everything's on fire.
- 1:06:14The, he cops slapping Charlie all over the goddamn place.
- 1:06:18Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:18Charlie hits the, he cop with a rock and bust one the lenses on his glasses.
- 1:06:22So it starts glowing, and then helicopter's, like enough of this
- 1:06:25shit, pulls his gun, puts it up to like Charlie's forehead about ready to pull.
- 1:06:29But then Rachel pops up
- 1:06:32with the shotgun, blasts the second lens, and then he cop tags away his
- 1:06:36safe distance, and then he explodes.
- 1:06:39Awesome.
- 1:06:40And then we cue the triumphant song.
- 1:06:42Yeah.
- 1:06:42Hey.
- 1:06:43Yeah.
- 1:06:43And Clara's alive back in hell.
- 1:06:46She's like getting up like, oh man, what a fall.
- 1:06:49The devil like, I don't know, raised a toast.
- 1:06:51Like he's the Great Gatsby to Charlie across the vortex.
- 1:06:54Did he raise glass to Charlie or did he raise his glass to Adam, the
- 1:06:59Antichrist, who's now on the other side?
- 1:07:01Who's now Oh, that's right.
- 1:07:02Who's now on Earth and bringing hell to earth roll credits, guys.
- 1:07:05Oh wait, wait.
- 1:07:06There's more.
- 1:07:06Luckily.
- 1:07:07We have an epilogue.
- 1:07:08Yes.
- 1:07:09And a nice little scroll where we find out.
- 1:07:11Oh yeah.
- 1:07:11Charlie and Rachel get married.
- 1:07:13Charlie makes some video games while Rachel has a string of
- 1:07:16pizzerias called Mountain Mikes now coming to the East coast.
- 1:07:19Adam moved to Cleveland.
- 1:07:21Sam's still the harbinger of Doom at his gas station waiting for Claire to come
- 1:07:25back instead of doing his own damn self.
- 1:07:26Ben's in commercials and the devil still be Deviling.
- 1:07:30Yeah.
- 1:07:30Roll credits highway to hell.
- 1:07:32Tell the hell to hell wait.
- 1:07:36Was that true?
- 1:07:36Was there something post movie?
- 1:07:38Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:39To be cut off part of that so you didn't get all of it.
- 1:07:41So thanks for telling us Steve.
- 1:07:43'cause I missed it.
- 1:07:43We washed it on tub be as well.
- 1:07:45We Oh.
- 1:07:46Oh, maybe.
- 1:07:46Was it already suggesting the next movie or whatever cut out?
- 1:07:49Oh, okay.
- 1:07:50Yeah, it was basically Turing then like a white scroll, kind of like
- 1:07:53the credits, like Monty Python style.
- 1:07:55Were there any moose in that?
- 1:07:57No.
- 1:07:57No more maximum overdrive.
- 1:08:00So, yeah, it turns out it was aliens the whole time.
- 1:08:02So guys, what ac CDC song would you compare?
- 1:08:05Highway to Hell, to Thunderstruck, backseat Rhythm, big Gun.
- 1:08:08More like the three Stooges than the ac DC.
- 1:08:11Dirty deeds done.
- 1:08:12Dirt cheap.
- 1:08:13Kinda y Yeah.
- 1:08:13What, what, what?
- 1:08:14What'd you guys think going around the room, Brad?
- 1:08:15What?
- 1:08:16What'd you think?
- 1:08:16It was a good premise.
- 1:08:18Very, very poorly executed and I feel like it was probably supposed
- 1:08:23to be just a straight horror movie.
- 1:08:25And they realized the way they had done it was just so stupid.
- 1:08:28So they had to add in the comedic elements, like the stupid thing.
- 1:08:33Handcuffs?
- 1:08:34Yeah.
- 1:08:35Just like Drop Dead Fred.
- 1:08:36They had to add that stuff that this movie's not scary at all.
- 1:08:39How do we fix it?
- 1:08:39Oh, throw in some comedy.
- 1:08:41Great, great idea.
- 1:08:42What are the Stillers up to?
- 1:08:43Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:44They just happen to be at the studio filming something else.
- 1:08:47What movie came out that they were involved in?
- 1:08:49In 91?
- 1:08:49Yeah.
- 1:08:49Gilbert Godfrey shooting like Problem Child two.
- 1:08:52And they're like, yeah, yeah, we gotta roll for you buddy.
- 1:08:54Don't worry about it.
- 1:08:55Exactly.
- 1:08:55Jerry Silver is like, I have this friend.
- 1:08:58He'd love to play Hitler.
- 1:09:00How about you, Dan?
- 1:09:01Middle of the road for me.
- 1:09:02I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.
- 1:09:04I don't know that I'll recommend it, but if it's the course for
- 1:09:07late eighties, early nineties B rated kind of movie though.
- 1:09:10How about you, Tony?
- 1:09:11I think they're two minute and 16 second trailer did not do it justice.
- 1:09:16Yeah, like a good way or a bad way and or I wasn't in the right head
- 1:09:21space when I watched a trailer.
- 1:09:23Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:23I'd hear that Hidden Faces song.
- 1:09:25That's what you meant.
- 1:09:29Yeah, totally and completely and utterly put off by the trailer.
- 1:09:35As I said from that, I thought I had seen enough that I could fill
- 1:09:37the gaps in on my own without watching the rest of the movie.
- 1:09:40However, upon watching the movie in its entirety, there are
- 1:09:44far worse movies than things.
- 1:09:47Let me guess which one is on your list.
- 1:09:49Would you say far worse movies that we've talked about on this here?
- 1:09:52Podcast Collaboration?
- 1:09:54Better Than The Stuntman, better than Lamborghini, better Than Trading
- 1:09:58Paint Better than Senior Moment?
- 1:10:00Where?
- 1:10:01Where, where are we going?
- 1:10:02I would watch this again before I watch Stuntman, but I would watch any of those
- 1:10:07other ones again, before I watch this.
- 1:10:09You would watch Senior Moment again before you watch this Lamborghini,
- 1:10:13the Rise and Fall of Frank Gorilla, or whatever it was called.
- 1:10:17If I was forced to watch something again,
- 1:10:22I have not watched any of these again, nor do I plan to what, not even the fall guy.
- 1:10:27Fall guy.
- 1:10:27We've watched more than once.
- 1:10:29That's good.
- 1:10:29That was a good, the new one.
- 1:10:31Oh no, I watched, watched that like six times I think.
- 1:10:33No, this was very period appropriate.
- 1:10:36It was stealing from movies before it, movies at the same time.
- 1:10:41Hell, it may have stolen from some movies after it and it may have, yes, it may have
- 1:10:46informed some movies after it as well.
- 1:10:49Yeah, it was super campy and just you took it in that regard.
- 1:10:53It was fine.
- 1:10:54I don't know if I would go as far as to say that the, uh, premise was.
- 1:10:58That deep, but maybe they had something there could have been executed better.
- 1:11:03It's like the bear, you could find it for most of the movies
- 1:11:06is in the back seat with the dog.
- 1:11:09How about you, Eric?
- 1:11:10I gotta give you guys a gold star this time and thank you Izzy,
- 1:11:13for recommending this movie.
- 1:11:14My wife usually hates everything that we watch together for these reviews.
- 1:11:20Like vehemently angry sometimes at the films.
- 1:11:23We watch this together from the moment it started, from
- 1:11:26the opening credits to the end.
- 1:11:28We were laughing, we were commenting, we were just all over the place with it.
- 1:11:32We got to the end and it's like, are we gonna watch it again?
- 1:11:34Probably not.
- 1:11:35It's not appropriate to watch with our girls by any stretch, but it
- 1:11:38was just, we got to the end of it.
- 1:11:39We were like.
- 1:11:40That was fun.
- 1:11:41We had fun watching it.
- 1:11:42We had fun watching it together.
- 1:11:43So mad props to you guys.
- 1:11:45I actually liked it.
- 1:11:46Now, if I were to stack rank it against some of the other stuff, you know,
- 1:11:49between stuntman and fall guy, if that's our upper and lower echelons, apparently
- 1:11:54that's our top and bottom, which is weird 'cause they're the same movie, but go on.
- 1:11:59It's somewhere in the middle, right?
- 1:12:00It it is.
- 1:12:01To your point, better than some of the other stuff we watch, but not as good as.
- 1:12:05Some of the others.
- 1:12:05So no mad props to you guys.
- 1:12:07This was a good one.
- 1:12:08How about you, Ozzie?
- 1:12:09Do you enjoy this movie?
- 1:12:11I genuinely love this dumb little movie.
- 1:12:13Is it a perfect movie?
- 1:12:14No.
- 1:12:15No, but like Eric said, it's fun.
- 1:12:19I, this is just fun.
- 1:12:20Yeah, it's fun.
- 1:12:21I really like the effects and stuff.
- 1:12:24I really do.
- 1:12:25It's, it's so of the late eighties, like, you know, the, the like fucking
- 1:12:28hamburgers from that, uh, better off Dead, like that whole kinda stop
- 1:12:33motion like Tim Burton kinda shit.
- 1:12:36Yeah.
- 1:12:36It's, it's a lot of that.
- 1:12:38It was almost like a Randy Brothers film.
- 1:12:40That's what my wife said.
- 1:12:41She's like, it's not quite evil dead, but it's like almost there.
- 1:12:45Yeah.
- 1:12:45It's trying, it's trying to be that and so it's like there was something
- 1:12:48about Evil Dead and Ash versus the, and all that stuff where you're just
- 1:12:51like, you knew what you were getting into Bruce Campbell and all that stuff.
- 1:12:54This wants to be that.
- 1:12:56But it just never gets there.
- 1:12:58It's a lot like Peewee Herman, but like our rate of, what if Peewee
- 1:13:01Herman walked into a strip club randomly looking for his bike?
- 1:13:05Yes.
- 1:13:05Yeah.
- 1:13:05Yeah.
- 1:13:05Like it's that same kind of feel like what if Peewee Herman went
- 1:13:09to hell looking for his bike?
- 1:13:10You know, would've made this movie though if we brought the singers from
- 1:13:13the Jeff Bridges movie over the coconuts.
- 1:13:16Remember them.
- 1:13:16If they were in hell, that would've been hilarious.
- 1:13:20Yeah, I could see it.
- 1:13:20Not Lou Vega and The Coconuts, because we got not Molly Wing
- 1:13:24Wal and not Lorenzo Llamas.
- 1:13:25So we gotta round it out.
- 1:13:27Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:28So it sounds like we're divided on this movie.
- 1:13:30We have, uh, three recommends and three Burden Hells, I guess you guys
- 1:13:33have to decide for yourself on Tuby or any other method finding this movie.
- 1:13:37All right, we're gonna take a quick official break.
- 1:13:39Oh.
- 1:13:39But when we come back we have, well, not more beer.
- 1:13:42So we didn't have any beer.
- 1:13:42This one I did.
- 1:13:43You guys didn't even ask me.
- 1:13:45Oh, shit.
- 1:13:45Shit.
- 1:13:47Well, when we come back, we'll have some beer fun facts and what
- 1:13:50we learned from Highway to Hell.
- 1:13:52Yeah.
- 1:13:55There's so many podcasts out there.
- 1:13:57How do I find the one for me?

- 1:14:05of 'em seem to fit my needs.

- 1:15:29Dan's not drinking well water for a change.
- 1:15:32What?
- 1:15:32Pennsylvania's finest.
- 1:15:33Is that what you got there?
- 1:15:34I got a little bit of this.
- 1:15:35Does that shine?
- 1:15:36Yes, it is.
- 1:15:37Or is that gasoline?
- 1:15:39It can run a car, but, but then I do have America's oldest brewery in hand.
- 1:15:44Good old giggling, lobster, Potstown, Pennsylvania.
- 1:15:46Look at that.
- 1:15:47They got multiple things in the cooler here.
- 1:15:48I, on the other hand have scooter blood orange Radler by Braxton Brewing
- 1:15:54Company out of Covington, Kentucky.
- 1:15:57And it is Ooh, fan Tabul Covington, Kentucky.
- 1:16:01Right across the river from Cincinnati, right?
- 1:16:03That's exactly right.
- 1:16:05Nice.
- 1:16:05How about you, Tony?
- 1:16:06You drinking anything?
- 1:16:07Water from your, well, from my, well, from my, well, actually, you know
- 1:16:13where mans splits get their water.
- 1:16:15Where's that babe?
- 1:16:15A well, actually, uh, no.
- 1:16:20How about you, Matt?
- 1:16:20Man, Dan, what?
- 1:16:21You already asked Dan.
- 1:16:23Oh.
- 1:16:23Uh, Brad.
- 1:16:23Brad, sorry.
- 1:16:24What the hell?
- 1:16:25Brad and Dan, they're all the same guy now.
- 1:16:27I was driving so I couldn't be drinking.
- 1:16:29Oh yeah.
- 1:16:29That makes sense.
- 1:16:30Good.
- 1:16:30Good job.
- 1:16:31Good job at you being all professional.
- 1:16:32On our end, we have a, a very special beverage here.
- 1:16:36Kirkland's signature, hella style lager, courtesy of Deschutes
- 1:16:39Brewing out of Bend, Oregon.
- 1:16:41Ooh.
- 1:16:414.5% alcohol by volume.
- 1:16:44That where De Shoots is now.
- 1:16:45Yeah.
- 1:16:46You started off with Kirkland and I was like, wait a second.
- 1:16:48You bought the Costco sells beer.
- 1:16:50That's why I started laughing.
- 1:16:52Apparently you savor the triumph of a 2023 Great American Beer Festival.
- 1:16:56Gold medalist.
- 1:16:57A beer that stands out among the finest in America won the Goldberg Munich style.
- 1:17:01Hellis now available at your local Costco.
- 1:17:04There you go.
- 1:17:05Oh shit, babe.
- 1:17:05We might have voted on this.
- 1:17:07Oh yeah.
- 1:17:07Shit, maybe.
- 1:17:08Yeah.
- 1:17:09We were at the Great American Beer Festival.
- 1:17:10We were at the Great American Beer Festival that year too.
- 1:17:12Yeah, my top, oh, this tall.
- 1:17:14Nice And the pour down my throat.
- 1:17:17No, no, no, no.
- 1:17:18I'm just gonna take a sip off of yours.
- 1:17:20Sorry everybody.
- 1:17:21I've been fighting a stomach bug and probably chugging a bunch
- 1:17:24of beers is gonna help that.
- 1:17:26It's got a little green apple nest to it.
- 1:17:28That's kind of a poor descriptor, but it's got that, um, no, there's a touch
- 1:17:31of green apple on there, but um, yeah, definitely malt forward, earthy style hop,
- 1:17:36like a slight soreness, but in a good way.
- 1:17:39I don't know, just a little different mouth feel than kind of a
- 1:17:41standard logger, but yeah, not bad.
- 1:17:43Probably won't make me sick.
- 1:17:44No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:17:45No, no, this tastes bad.
- 1:17:46Aint bad at all.
- 1:17:47Yeah.
- 1:17:47Nice little beer.
- 1:17:48Yeah, try it out.
- 1:17:49Alright, so who's interested in some fun facts about this movie?
- 1:17:52I am always up for fun facts.
- 1:17:54Well, rotten Tomatoes.
- 1:17:55Ooh, there's no critic score on this one.
- 1:17:58Cowards.
- 1:17:58Well, there's four of 'em.
- 1:17:59That's not enough for an official score.
- 1:18:01Apparently they're all mildly positive, like three out of
- 1:18:04fives kind of thing, right?
- 1:18:05But nobody gives a fuck about critics anyway.
- 1:18:07What's that audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 1:18:10What do the people think?
- 1:18:1170% range.
- 1:18:13What I think it got from the positive end of the spectrum.
- 1:18:15What is in your beer dude?
- 1:18:1770%. This movie's definitely on the spectrum.
- 1:18:23Brad, what's your number then?
- 1:18:24Negative 3000.
- 1:18:27$1 Bob.
- 1:18:28$1. 1 cent.
- 1:18:30He went 1 cent.
- 1:18:32What about you, Tanya?
- 1:18:33I wanna say 60.
- 1:18:34What is up with you guys?
- 1:18:36I feel like I saw what the number was, but I don't really remember.
- 1:18:39Right Eric?
- 1:18:40Well, I know Izzy's gonna say her generous.
- 1:18:4217%. So I'm gonna come in just over her and say 21%.
- 1:18:46See, I actually was gonna go with our other favorite number 69.
- 1:18:51Nice.
- 1:18:52Tanya's closest, 53% with the audience.
- 1:18:56Basically just like us right down the middle, three and three, you know?
- 1:18:59Wow.
- 1:19:00What if the three of us that liked it gave it a hundred percent
- 1:19:03and the you guys gave it one.
- 1:19:04That's what it happened just after the budget.
- 1:19:08$9 million.
- 1:19:10Actually, not that bad.
- 1:19:12I'm sure with like inflation, that's like 30 or 40 today or
- 1:19:14something, but yeah, $9 million.
- 1:19:16Any guesses on the worldwide growth?
- 1:19:19$17 and a six pack.
- 1:19:21Alright.
- 1:19:22How much did one ticket cost in 1991?
- 1:19:25Uh, let's say $3.
- 1:19:27Three 50.
- 1:19:28How about tree fitted?
- 1:19:29Alright, let's put this in perspective before you give that number.
- 1:19:33It cost not to make correct 22 million in today's dollars.
- 1:19:36But in 1991 when this movie came out, yeah, your plug box office numbers too.
- 1:19:41Nice.
- 1:19:41The biggest movie in 1991.
- 1:19:44Was Terminator two.
- 1:19:45So we said this movie cost 9 million to make 9 million.
- 1:19:49How much do we think Terminator two cost to make?
- 1:19:51Yeah, it was like a hundred or something, wasn't it?
- 1:19:53178 million.
- 1:19:56Holy.
- 1:19:56That's like a billion dollars today.
- 1:19:58Yeah.
- 1:19:59Take that water world, making it the most expensive film ever made at that time.
- 1:20:03And what was the gross again?
- 1:20:05Almost 205 on Terminator two.
- 1:20:08It made its money back.
- 1:20:09We'll see.
- 1:20:09And how much money did highway to hell?
- 1:20:11Yeah.
- 1:20:11Well, I was hearing some guesses.
- 1:20:13I heard 17 and a six pack tree fitting.
- 1:20:15I'm thinking probably like 12 to 13.
- 1:20:17You think it made its money back?
- 1:20:19No, it cost 9 million.
- 1:20:20I think it did.
- 1:20:20Because you gotta understand during that time, it's not like today where you got
- 1:20:25to see movie trailers near as often.
- 1:20:27So it was like at the end of a movie that you went to the theater system.
- 1:20:31Dude, Daniel's trying to say people were bamboozled into watching it.
- 1:20:35Bam.
- 1:20:36Dude, people asked for a refund at the end of this movie.
- 1:20:39So 1.798 million.
- 1:20:42No way.
- 1:20:42It did not make more than it cost.
- 1:20:44I don't know what it made, but not more.
- 1:20:46It made $1 less.
- 1:20:47Less than 2 million.
- 1:20:48All right.
- 1:20:49The worldwide gross.
- 1:20:50$26,055.
- 1:20:55Ooh.
- 1:20:55I was the closest.
- 1:20:57Wow.
- 1:20:58I believe that is BHS sales.
- 1:21:01The blockbuster 3% of the budget.
- 1:21:04Chad Lowe's family and friends went to see this movie.
- 1:21:06Yeah.
- 1:21:07Yeah.
- 1:21:07Yeah.
- 1:21:07And just for perspective, since I have the box office numbers from 1991 pulled up,
- 1:21:11it only goes to the top 200 of that year number 200 Christopher Watkins McBain.
- 1:21:18Wow.
- 1:21:18Which made over $450,000.
- 1:21:22Wow.
- 1:21:23I feel like this movie's on par with McBain.
- 1:21:25This movie didn't deserve that much hate.
- 1:21:27Uh, a gross of a 20th of McBain.
- 1:21:30Which everyone only remembers because we keep suggesting it.
- 1:21:33I don't know.
- 1:21:34Obviously it's because of Maria Conci, Alonzo writing her donkey
- 1:21:38from South America to Brooklyn.
- 1:21:40Oh, there you go.
- 1:21:41Uh, yeah.
- 1:21:41Let's see what other fun facts we got.
- 1:21:43The film features four members of the Stiller family.
- 1:21:45Yeah, we, we talked about it.
- 1:21:46Yeah.
- 1:21:47Jerry Stiller, his wife and Mira Ben Stiller and of course
- 1:21:50Ben's sister, Amy Stiller.
- 1:21:51Ben Stiller ad-libbed His dialogue as Pluto's Cook.
- 1:21:55You really couldn't tell.
- 1:21:56Cocaine is amazing.
- 1:21:57Yeah.
- 1:21:57Make a part of Steve Johnson got the idea for the Riding on Hell.
- 1:22:01Cop's face from Clive Barker's book of Blood and this was shot from October
- 1:22:0625th to December 20th, 1989, but not released until 1991 and unreleased
- 1:22:12in the US until March 13th, 1992.
- 1:22:16Wait, hold on.
- 1:22:17Let's check that 92 box office.
- 1:22:19See if that's where it is.
- 1:22:20Top grossing movie of 1992 was, of course, Tim Burton's Batman Returns.
- 1:22:25Yeah.
- 1:22:26And going down the list.
- 1:22:28Oh shit.
- 1:22:29Number 200 Wild Orchid, two colon, two shades of blue.
- 1:22:34You guys know what Wild orchid, I'm gonna guess that's a porn.
- 1:22:37Mi Mickey Rourke and his then wife, Rita Ora or something like that.
- 1:22:40But that made almost $600,000.
- 1:22:42Wow.
- 1:22:43Love potion number nine was number 1 94 and it made 750,000.
- 1:22:48This movie is a victim of circumstance.
- 1:22:50It is in the shadow of other great and epic 1991 debut films.
- 1:22:56It didn't stand a chance.
- 1:22:57If it were released in early 1990, I'm sure it would've been
- 1:23:00nominated for Academy Awards and would've still made $26,000.
- 1:23:04Yeah, exactly.
- 1:23:05Well, you said it was done in 1989.
- 1:23:08Yeah, they wrapped like December of 89.
- 1:23:10There's no way they could have released it in 89 and been successful
- 1:23:13because Batman 89 came out.
- 1:23:15Oh, yeah.
- 1:23:15Yeah.
- 1:23:16I don't think the success of those other movies is why this movie sucked.
- 1:23:23You gotta believe Brad.
- 1:23:24I believe.
- 1:23:26I believe I know why it failed, because America hates Christians.
- 1:23:30You know what?
- 1:23:30That's it is dealing with hell and the whole religious aspect.
- 1:23:35Nobody wants to root for the devil or against the devil.
- 1:23:38With all the anti-cop sentiment in this, they filmed the whole thing in two months.
- 1:23:43Yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:43I would imagine.
- 1:23:44Most films, they take like six months to film.
- 1:23:47Two months.
- 1:23:48$9 million.
- 1:23:50Yeah, that's a lot of money in two months.
- 1:23:52Wow.
- 1:23:52That ending scene with all the pyro, dude, that was the year and a half it
- 1:23:56took or whatever for 'em to release.
- 1:23:57It was all that post-production and the stop motion and all that stuff so failed
- 1:24:01because they got the wrong low brother.
- 1:24:04I don't think it would've, I don't think it would've helped it.
- 1:24:05If Rob Blow was in it, it would've grossed at least nine and a half million.
- 1:24:10It would be nice to know what Rob was doing at the same time.
- 1:24:13I'm looking it up.
- 1:24:14Yeah, I was just thinking that was he drugged out?
- 1:24:17Oh shit.
- 1:24:17He was doing Wayne's World around this time, wasn't he?
- 1:24:19Oh shit.
- 1:24:20My other question is, 'cause Tanya brought it up earlier, Ernest scared
- 1:24:23stupid was at the same time, and it sort of has the same level of CGI writing.
- 1:24:29I mean, obviously Jim Varney was in it, so that takes it to a whole new level.
- 1:24:32I'm wondering how did Ernest scared Stupid do in 91 compared
- 1:24:36to this movie Ernest Scared stupid production cost was 9.6 million.
- 1:24:41Ooh, there you go.
- 1:24:42That's a good co comparison.
- 1:24:44All right.
- 1:24:44Ernest Scared Stupid, made less than Goes to Jail.
- 1:24:4714 million versus 25.
- 1:24:49So it made money.
- 1:24:51There's something broken here and Rob Lowe around this time, he was making
- 1:24:55such classics as Bad Influence, the Dark Backward if the shoe fits, and
- 1:25:00then in 92, a little movie called Wayne's World that took the world
- 1:25:04by storm and then Parks and Rec.
- 1:25:05Oh, well then, then like what the Stand Tummy Boy.
- 1:25:10Wait, so you said the Rotten Tomatoes on this movie was 53%.
- 1:25:1553%. Yeah.
- 1:25:16So what do we think the Rotten Tomatoes of Earnest Scared Stupid
- 1:25:20was for a movie that made money.
- 1:25:21Oh, that's interesting.
- 1:25:22How much?
- 1:25:2369. I'm gonna go 69.
- 1:25:25Or now it's probably like 45 or something like that.
- 1:25:2727. Oh, look at that.
- 1:25:30Wow.
- 1:25:31That's messed up.
- 1:25:32You heard it here.
- 1:25:33Highway to hell.
- 1:25:34Better than Ernest.
- 1:25:34Scared stupid.
- 1:25:36I like Ernest.
- 1:25:36Scared stupid too.
- 1:25:38Right?
- 1:25:38Any of the earnest movies are good.
- 1:25:40They're cornea school.
- 1:25:40Oh yeah.
- 1:25:41The earn goes to prison.
- 1:25:42Surprisingly hilarious.
- 1:25:44Oh my God.
- 1:25:44That's the best one.
- 1:25:45Followed by Earn rides again, where he is on the cannon.
- 1:25:48Oh, it's the best.
- 1:25:49Oh, slam dunk.
- 1:25:50Ernest.
- 1:25:50Ernest goes to Africa.
- 1:25:52I mean, nah.
- 1:25:52No, those I never saw.
- 1:25:53I never saw those.
- 1:25:54Those weren't that good.
- 1:25:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:55Don't, don't worry about those.
- 1:25:57Ernest goes to jail.
- 1:25:58That's classic.
- 1:25:59But ladies and gentlemen, we reached the most important part.
- 1:26:01The end.
- 1:26:02What did we learn?
- 1:26:03Yes.
- 1:26:03From highway to hell.
- 1:26:05I'm going last.
- 1:26:05Who wants to go first?
- 1:26:06I know Eric likes to go last.
- 1:26:07Yeah.
- 1:26:07I learned that when you go to hell, apparently you're still alive and you
- 1:26:12can still die in hell and be resurrected because all the people were still alive
- 1:26:17and then they got killed in the mutilated asphalt machine going off the cliff.
- 1:26:21The road to hell is paid with good intentions.
- 1:26:23Yeah, so basically you're still alive somehow.
- 1:26:26Here's the thing, I don't think people with Mutilators died.
- 1:26:28I think they have to spend eternity as chunks in a road.
- 1:26:32I was wondering that because when the leg fell down, the leg stood up
- 1:26:36straight and for a minute I thought the leg was gonna like walk away.
- 1:26:39Yeah.
- 1:26:39They spread eternity in the flames that burn, but do not
- 1:26:42consume just like bet juice.
- 1:26:44Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
- 1:26:45Alright, Brad, I learned absolutely nothing you learned.
- 1:26:50You could probably film a movie that would gross more than $26,000.
- 1:26:54I think I lost knowledge watching this movie.
- 1:26:58I didn't gain knowledge.
- 1:26:59I'm about to give you some knowledge.
- 1:27:01Just weight.
- 1:27:02You're about to drop some knowledge.
- 1:27:04How about you babe?
- 1:27:04I learned that Eric has never had anything slide off to the dashboard and
- 1:27:09disappear into that little black hole between the seat and the center console.
- 1:27:13Where is the bear?
- 1:27:14Where is the bear?
- 1:27:15Yeah, it, it's available on Hulu anyway, all four seasons.
- 1:27:20And also I think that movie from the French director that has like no dialogue.
- 1:27:25It's called the Bear.
- 1:27:26We did it last year.
- 1:27:26It was great.
- 1:27:28The bear, I learned hell is full of cops and stillers hell is full
- 1:27:32of cops and bad cop, no donut.
- 1:27:34Yeah.
- 1:27:35How about you, Dan?
- 1:27:36I learned that Eric apparently has a thing about Teddy bear with
- 1:27:40clock, so I think I know what his Christmas present might be this year.
- 1:27:44Oh, Teddy ruxbin.
- 1:27:45It's teddy bear clocks.
- 1:27:47It's a very specific kink.
- 1:27:48My mission is to find that bear with the clock in its belly for you.
- 1:27:51Ah-huh.
- 1:27:52Yeah, that's, yeah.
- 1:27:53Yes, you can probably find that specific one on eBay.
- 1:27:56Probably Chad Lowe's trying to like have an estate sale or something.
- 1:27:59They're still trying to make money off of the props from the
- 1:28:01movie to get it into the positive.
- 1:28:03A couple more of these, we can crack 30,000.
- 1:28:06All right, how about you, Eric?
- 1:28:07You know how there's the man of a thousand faces?
- 1:28:09There's really only seven stories ever told, and everything's a
- 1:28:12derivative of those seven stories, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:28:14A hundred thousand monkeys on a hundred thousand typewriters.
- 1:28:16Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:17Turtles all the way down according to Terry prt.
- 1:28:19That being said, I've said before, like the Tron story is Alice in
- 1:28:22Wonderland, and this is that, and this is the other thing, whatever.
- 1:28:24This one actually is quite special because if you know your history, it's a
- 1:28:29retelling of a Greek tragedy, the story of Orpheus and acy, but it's poorly executed.
- 1:28:35So that's really what this is all about.
- 1:28:37And if you want a modern day interpretation of this exact
- 1:28:40same story, watch chaos.
- 1:28:43On Netflix with Jeff Goldblum and the rest of the fancy cast that's over there.
- 1:28:47That was way more than $9 million to produce that show.
- 1:28:49But that's the same story as well.
- 1:28:51Guy goes down to hell, he is gotta bring the girl back.
- 1:28:53So when Tanya said Dante's Inferno, I was like, oh, she's
- 1:28:56almost there, but not quite.
- 1:28:59It's not Dante's story.
- 1:29:01This is Orpheus and Retic.
- 1:29:03See.
- 1:29:03Boom, not chaos.
- 1:29:04The Jason Statham movie?
- 1:29:05No, not that one.
- 1:29:06No, no, no.
- 1:29:07That's Chaos with a K. Oh, like the director of Ballistic X versus sever.
- 1:29:12Yeah.
- 1:29:13You guys haven't watched Chaos.
- 1:29:14You gotta watch it.
- 1:29:15Oh, of course.
- 1:29:15I, I started to and I couldn't keep going.
- 1:29:18So good.
- 1:29:18We're too, we were too busy rewatching this.
- 1:29:23You know the good version.
- 1:29:25There you go.
- 1:29:25There you have it.
