Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a d M podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No Dribble.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Don't tell them dribblers.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's a new world in the No Dribble universe. We
- 0:24Speaker 2: have met so many of you in person. The three
- 0:26Speaker 2: of us are in the studio together, so good morning,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and welcome to the Not Dribble Podcast, the podcast where
- 0:31Speaker 2: we talk about debor will we talk about so much more.
- 0:33Speaker 2: My name is Carol and Swindell, and I'm in the
- 0:35Speaker 2: same room for the second day in a row with
- 0:40Speaker 2: a couple of legends of the game and of life,
- 0:44Speaker 2: about us talking about.
- 0:47Speaker 4: To look around.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Then mostly I'm talking about cat Cox because she brought
- 0:50Speaker 2: the cake. But you know, Lizzellis brought the Lizzellis and
- 0:53Speaker 2: no one else can do that, So that's true.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Thing heaven says, imagine the world with till us. But yes,
- 0:58Speaker 4: Catherine did bring the cake and is to be applauded.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Now. I brought it because generally this cafe, it's red velvet.
- 1:05Speaker 1: They're little mini cakes. Everyone like cupcakes, but I'm not
- 1:08Speaker 1: a big fan because I don't entirely know what it is.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I don't like red velvet either.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I had carrot today with the cream cheese frosting, which I'm.
- 1:17Speaker 4: All for, and the little flowers on tom I like that.
- 1:21Speaker 4: What gives a red in the red velvet?
- 1:22Speaker 2: So I'm doing that thing. I'm currently scrolling through what
- 1:25Speaker 2: is allegedly a recipe, But first I have to have
- 1:29Speaker 2: nine years of backstory of this person's life. What is
- 1:32Speaker 2: that with the recipes blogs?
- 1:33Speaker 4: Apparently they have to do it so that they the
- 1:37Speaker 4: algorithms mean that you can't just put your recipe out
- 1:39Speaker 4: the front because then people just look at it and
- 1:41Speaker 4: that's it. You have to sort of add some level
- 1:43Speaker 4: of expertise to make the algorithms throw your recipe page up. Okay,
- 1:46Speaker 4: oh yeah, he'd be bothered.
- 1:48Speaker 2: No, so let me tell you.
- 1:50Speaker 4: And I'm grateful when people are bothered.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But there you go. Yeah, but I never read the thing.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Sometimes you find ones with a little jump to recipe.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's great. They are the best. So I
- 1:59Speaker 2: can't see what it is is on here that differentiates
- 2:02Speaker 2: that white vinegar is in their buttermilk red food coloring.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It's going to be red food color.
- 2:07Speaker 4: It might have been beech red juice.
- 2:08Speaker 2: But there is something about the texture, isn't there about it?
- 2:11Speaker 2: So red velvet? What makes a red velvet cake? Do
- 2:15Speaker 2: you remember like when we just used to have to
- 2:16Speaker 2: go to the library or go I don't know, and
- 2:19Speaker 2: not worry about Britannica.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Yes, I remember my parents saved up for years for
- 2:24Speaker 4: an Encyclopedia Britannica, and my dad would just get a
- 2:28Speaker 4: random book out at night and sit and read bits
- 2:31Speaker 4: of it. And I also think that was the height
- 2:33Speaker 4: of intelligence because it was a really clever bloke, so
- 2:36Speaker 4: he would just get out of the encyclopedia and read it.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So when I read a Woman's Day, what would his
- 2:41Speaker 1: take on that be?
- 2:46Speaker 4: He loved you, Catherine, so you know, but when you
- 2:48Speaker 4: walk out of the room, we'd be like, that's bloody nonsense.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I do remember though, when I was in Uni, and
- 2:54Speaker 2: this was before the Internet was sort of readily available,
- 2:57Speaker 2: a friend and I couldn't remember the name of a
- 2:59Speaker 2: character in Rocky Horror picture Shot and I would lay
- 3:02Speaker 2: it in bed at night for weeks, going through the
- 3:03Speaker 2: alphabt abe and eventually did remember that it was Columbia.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And I think that titled who was that she was
- 3:10Speaker 2: that she tapped answer who I was walking down the
- 3:13Speaker 2: street just to haven't it? But yeah, that's right, little
- 3:15Speaker 2: now I think was the actor. But it's like, we
- 3:17Speaker 2: don't have to do that anymore. If you want a
- 3:18Speaker 2: piece of information, you can immediately find it. And I'm sure,
- 3:21Speaker 2: I'm sure that process is like exercise for the brain
- 3:24Speaker 2: going through all of that.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yes it is.
- 3:26Speaker 1: So meanwhile, while you're trying to find this, I have
- 3:29Speaker 1: a bone to pick with you. Excellent, So yesterday, what
- 3:33Speaker 1: was the one thing we specifically said when we leave
- 3:36Speaker 1: that they weren't allowed to do have fun? And you
- 3:39Speaker 1: seem to have a lot of fun. All I saw
- 3:41Speaker 1: on our Facebook page was how much fun and apologies
- 3:45Speaker 1: lisen caf. We said we wouldn't have fun without you.
- 3:47Speaker 2: But we did, but we didn't think you were serious.
- 3:49Speaker 1: No, we're serious.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Okay, So I've got a rash from the now. Dear listeners,
- 3:57Speaker 4: we are laughing because I actually have this post viral
- 4:00Speaker 4: rash that makes me look like, I don't know, like
- 4:02Speaker 4: I have leprosy or something. It's not on your face, though,
- 4:05Speaker 4: it's not on my face. It's on my arms and
- 4:07Speaker 4: it's thank god, I don't walk around in a bikinis
- 4:09Speaker 4: a rule. Well, we were.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Going to do the podcast in bikinis today and then
- 4:13Speaker 2: had to change that plan. Yes, right, Cake, I've.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Got so many bits that don't stop when the music
- 4:22Speaker 4: does that the rash is the least of the issues
- 4:24Speaker 4: if I sat here in a bikini. But yeah, so anyway,
- 4:27Speaker 4: I've outed myself as having a nasty rash, and I
- 4:30Speaker 4: was fine, Yes, I had no rash, Catherine, And then
- 4:32Speaker 4: I saw all the posts on Facebook and I got fomo,
- 4:35Speaker 4: and now I've had to take some any histormines. But
- 4:37Speaker 4: it's too late. I've broken out in a rash because
- 4:39Speaker 4: all I saw was you having fun with dribblers, drinking champagne,
- 4:41Speaker 4: making stupid videos and having a good time.
- 4:44Speaker 2: If it makes you feel any better, it does a
- 4:46Speaker 2: bit dusty.
- 4:47Speaker 1: To brilliant because the g and t's continued at the
- 4:51Speaker 1: net balls that we're telling you.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I had a couple of Yeah, I did settle back down,
- 4:55Speaker 2: though it was a bit of a more somber experience
- 4:58Speaker 2: watching the game I anticipated, but we'll come to that soon.
- 5:01Speaker 2: But yeah, we had our very first Not Dribble Live
- 5:03Speaker 2: event yesterday and what a great, joyful, wonderful day, so
- 5:09Speaker 2: many laughs. Everyone was just so nice. So many mothers
- 5:12Speaker 2: and daughters there. Liz Something Break Netball Club. They gave
- 5:18Speaker 2: us these gifts.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Coastal Break, Coastal Break Netball Club from Gosford, I think.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And they gave us a little wine charm each. Mine
- 5:24Speaker 2: was a WD and.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You guys got goal shooter goalkeeper.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Guys had also rans or something on yours bench. We
- 5:31Speaker 2: gave Barbie Jarvis, who win beneath our wings scrub Crunchy.
- 5:35Speaker 2: She gave me a wing defense sticker. That's going on
- 5:37Speaker 2: my car, Thank you very much.
- 5:39Speaker 4: By Jarvis had possibly the best seats in the house
- 5:41Speaker 4: at the netball front row. She was in front of me.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Was she she in front of the chair in front
- 5:46Speaker 3: of the chair?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Actually I was directly opposite, and I did think that
- 5:49Speaker 2: looked like far how.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Funny it was. But during the game she was sending
- 5:54Speaker 4: shirts up and stuff for me to sign shamrock shirt
- 5:58Speaker 4: because I was like, Bob, I'm trying to be the
- 6:01Speaker 4: chair at the moment, I'm not a dribbler. Just right
- 6:03Speaker 4: at this very second. Anyway, we were having a.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I don't know if Bob Jarvis tells me that we're
- 6:08Speaker 2: going into battle. I'll follow her. She's fabulous.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I did tell the people around me that I
- 6:12Speaker 4: was just here to do what Barb wanted me to do.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So for the people, you were amazing warming the crowd up,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and Liz and I were actually standing near the food
- 6:21Speaker 1: with a champagne.
- 6:22Speaker 4: And hand without hang on. That's that's just not an
- 6:24Speaker 4: unusual thing, standing near the food, champagne in hand. It's
- 6:29Speaker 4: all about your positional plate of function.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yes it is, and this is something weary marches on
- 6:34Speaker 1: its stomach. It is true. This is something we like
- 6:36Speaker 1: with the Diamonds because how many of those functions you'd
- 6:38Speaker 1: have to go to before or after games or whatever.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And we've always positioned ourselves near the kitchen door and
- 6:44Speaker 1: get the food as soon as it came out.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Yes, so I don't talk over you, Catherine. I think
- 6:49Speaker 4: it's good podcast etiquette and I don't talk over you.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Do you remember going to that function years ago? See
- 6:55Speaker 4: these are the stories I wish. I thought I was
- 6:57Speaker 4: sitting there yesterday and people asked us. One of the
- 6:59Speaker 4: biggest nights out with we went to a functions, not
- 7:01Speaker 4: a netball function. We got invited to the Star Casino
- 7:06Speaker 4: and it was a bon Jovi in a small theater
- 7:08Speaker 4: and it was just only invited people, and there was
- 7:11Speaker 4: a function beforehand with like heaps of food and wine,
- 7:15Speaker 4: and there were all these It was before the age
- 7:16Speaker 4: of influencers, but there was all these actors and models
- 7:19Speaker 4: and thin.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Types who got who don't need anything.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Yeah, right, they have a cigarette and a big deep
- 7:25Speaker 4: breath and before they couldn't fit another thing in. So
- 7:28Speaker 4: we were there and we figured out where the food
- 7:29Speaker 4: was coming from. It turned out we didn't have to
- 7:31Speaker 4: eventually all of the weight stuff. We're just bringing the
- 7:33Speaker 4: food to us because they were like, you are the
- 7:35Speaker 4: only people at this function eating and we've never seen
- 7:37Speaker 4: women eat so much. And we're like, just keep the
- 7:39Speaker 4: food coming and just without the judgment. Yeah, and top
- 7:42Speaker 4: the champagne up to the top. Thank so I'm gonna
- 7:43Speaker 4: ask where fit just keep the food coming. Do you
- 7:45Speaker 4: have any carbs? No, We'll just bring the protein. So
- 7:48Speaker 4: it was just the funniest night because they couldn't believe
- 7:51Speaker 4: how much we ate. And then were like two or
- 7:53Speaker 4: three rays back for bon Jovi. I've still got the
- 7:55Speaker 4: videos floating.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Around somewhere too, because the only person in front of
- 7:57Speaker 1: me was Richard Wilkins, who's got a big head of
- 8:00Speaker 1: hair and he's tall, so that was kind of blocking
- 8:03Speaker 1: my view a little bit.
- 8:04Speaker 4: And then we went to the after event and Bob
- 8:06Speaker 4: Geldof was there.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Oh no, I don't remember that. Oh yeah, yeah, I
- 8:14Speaker 1: remember sitting in this after party and I'm like, I
- 8:18Speaker 1: can't believe that I'm the same room as Bob Geldof,
- 8:20Speaker 1: which lots of people who were younger than thirty might
- 8:23Speaker 1: not have any idea.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Mind you, I've taught my kids. I played that Boomtown
- 8:26Speaker 4: Rat song give Me Monday Morning, tell me what I
- 8:29Speaker 4: don't like?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't know that song.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I know the song.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, so there you go. So but you know
- 8:38Speaker 4: when in the eighties when that now It's Christmas came
- 8:40Speaker 4: out and he was the biggest human in the world,
- 8:43Speaker 4: and like when fifteen years lady is sitting in a
- 8:46Speaker 4: room and he's just sitting there drinking champagne and yours
- 8:48Speaker 4: and it's quite a It's like, well, wow, it's like
- 8:50Speaker 4: a pitch me moment.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Absolutely that is that is a megastange. Yeah wow, Yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 2: I've done.
- 8:56Speaker 1: The touches with fame and he didn't come up.
- 8:58Speaker 2: No, twenty first episode, and you're going, oh, yeah, I
- 9:02Speaker 2: forgot about that.
- 9:03Speaker 4: It's that for good sad, right, And that's because we
- 9:06Speaker 4: forget things because we do play a good position or
- 9:08Speaker 4: game when it comes to Champagne. So anyway, as you
- 9:09Speaker 4: were saying, Callen was warming the crowd up, you got up.
- 9:12Speaker 1: There and did your thing, and Lizen I literally had
- 9:14Speaker 1: our arms crossed looking at you, and we said to it, well,
- 9:16Speaker 1: let's just let it go. Is brilliant, so funny, she's
- 9:20Speaker 1: got the crowd going, We're going to sit here for
- 9:22Speaker 1: an hour and let her do a thing quite happily.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And the next minute you're like, oh, let's get him
- 9:26Speaker 1: on stage.
- 9:26Speaker 4: A damn it.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Well I came. That was a very warm audience. I've
- 9:31Speaker 2: never had such a warm audience. And then Mandy did
- 9:33Speaker 2: a great job. Mandy was our original producer of the
- 9:35Speaker 2: podcast and came in and helped us out yesterday, which
- 9:37Speaker 2: was terrific. So thanks Mandy. But yeah, so they were
- 9:40Speaker 2: already warm by the time I got up there, and
- 9:41Speaker 2: I had a whole lot more stuff to do, thinking
- 9:43Speaker 2: we'll get them fired up. They were fired they were great.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Came in, they were ready, they were ready for fun.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Everyone was just so positive. But I just I want
- 9:52Speaker 2: to give a special shout out. My MVP for the
- 9:54Speaker 2: day is Nikki coomwoy Buckley, who friend of the podcast,
- 9:58Speaker 2: who was the first detective to find footage of Katherine
- 10:01Speaker 2: Cox in a scrunchy.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And I told Herry gave stop.
- 10:05Speaker 2: She's not going to stop. I don't think she's going
- 10:07Speaker 2: to stop.
- 10:08Speaker 1: To be fair, it said you must stop unless it's
- 10:10Speaker 1: of Lizellus, so she can continue.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But has no shame though about scrunchy. No, but there's
- 10:16Speaker 2: a shameful stop.
- 10:18Speaker 1: There's other dirt that can be dug.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Anyway, Nikki did a fabulous job yesterday. She carted the
- 10:24Speaker 2: selfie frame around and made everyone just get involved early.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And I think you know, when people do stuff like that,
- 10:30Speaker 2: it just really helps build the vibe in the room.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So thanks Nikki, thank you. Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yes, so then after that there was some nipple.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yes, But before we go, can we just talk about
- 10:42Speaker 4: Mandy O O G producer like we weren't mean to
- 10:45Speaker 4: her and she left, So just for the lawyers listening,
- 10:48Speaker 4: you can I just make it very clean that she
- 10:50Speaker 4: had a very happy time with us. Yeah, she actually
- 10:53Speaker 4: left because she's got this exciting new business. And I
- 10:56Speaker 4: love it where people have dreams or I have ideas
- 10:59Speaker 4: and they go, bugger it. Yeah, I'm going to get
- 11:01Speaker 4: out there and do it.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah like this one.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah, like you well, but and this thing with man,
- 11:06Speaker 2: you know, you feel like it's really your thing. So
- 11:07Speaker 2: she has got this fabulous idea.
- 11:09Speaker 3: We've all got.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Parents and aunts and uncles, we're all getting older, and
- 11:13Speaker 2: we're all thinking about we're all mortal, right, And Maddy
- 11:16Speaker 2: has this wonderful idea of capturing the stories of the
- 11:18Speaker 2: older generations in audio and editing them to you know,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you don't want forty hours of just unedited audio, but
- 11:26Speaker 2: you do, that's right. Yeah. So she has got this
- 11:29Speaker 2: thing that's come from her own relationship with her own mum,
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think, and doing it for a friend's uncle and
- 11:34Speaker 2: the like, and recording these stories and then editing them
- 11:37Speaker 2: into something that the family can keep and share and
- 11:39Speaker 2: enjoy now and.
- 11:42Speaker 1: The future when that's the only option.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Yeah, So we should put what's the website.
- 11:46Speaker 2: It's Littlebird Audio dot com dot au.
- 11:49Speaker 4: We must put that in the show notes.
- 11:50Speaker 2: What a great idea.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Yeah, she's a legend, and she was so good to
- 11:53Speaker 4: see here. So the other thing I wanted to have
- 11:55Speaker 4: a chat about yesterday was what I loved, was it
- 11:57Speaker 4: you two both bought your kids and Caen and in
- 12:00Speaker 4: fact you bought just about your whole family.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, ones in London, so she's got a good excuse.
- 12:04Speaker 2: But the other three came.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Okay, Well I left my children and my husband at home.
- 12:08Speaker 4: I travel light so but when I got there, I
- 12:11Speaker 4: was so happy to see Claire, your stepdaughter. Yeah, and
- 12:15Speaker 4: I think that this is it's amazing because when we
- 12:18Speaker 4: first met, Claire and her sister, Hailey, Hailey were oh
- 12:22Speaker 4: they would have been early teens.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So they were nine and seven when I met them, so,
- 12:27Speaker 2: which was a couple of years after I met you,
- 12:29Speaker 2: so little little.
- 12:31Speaker 4: So you've been through this whole. You did go through
- 12:34Speaker 4: a wicked step mother phase where they did not like you.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, look, it's hard. So I have a step mother
- 12:39Speaker 2: and she came into my life when I was I
- 12:41Speaker 2: think about thirteen, and I love her, but I've always
- 12:43Speaker 2: felt conflicted in that love because you feel a bit
- 12:46Speaker 2: guilty about your mum. So it's like, you know, so
- 12:49Speaker 2: it's like I understand that, you know, it's complex, blended
- 12:53Speaker 2: families are complex, yes, and.
- 12:54Speaker 4: So we've sort of been friends with you through this
- 12:57Speaker 4: whole process. And to walk in yesterday and see Claire
- 12:59Speaker 4: there being awesome, amazing, like just working the room and
- 13:02Speaker 4: making sure that everything was going.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Fast, so good.
- 13:05Speaker 4: She's amazing, And like I sometimes feel like my sister
- 13:09Speaker 4: has step children and it's something you have to work at.
- 13:13Speaker 4: But when the relationship it's good, it's great. Were there
- 13:16Speaker 4: times where you just thought I just can't deal.
- 13:19Speaker 2: There were times when it was difficult and frustrating, but
- 13:22Speaker 2: I never thought I can't deal. As I said, I
- 13:25Speaker 2: always understood this is complex, but you know you're also
- 13:28Speaker 2: a human being, so it's like, why don't you just
- 13:31Speaker 2: love me without question? And then but you know, we've
- 13:35Speaker 2: earned our relationship. It wasn't given to us, and so
- 13:38Speaker 2: I'm really yeah, it was. I refer to them as
- 13:40Speaker 2: the best gift with purchase that you could possibly ask. Yeah,
- 13:44Speaker 2: And I felt like a really strong, authentic relationship where
- 13:48Speaker 2: we love and respect one another, and that we've earned that.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It was not you know, it was just something. And
- 13:53Speaker 2: they decided early on to let me into their lives,
- 13:56Speaker 2: and that's you know, if they had decided not to
- 13:59Speaker 2: then it curtains, you know.
- 14:01Speaker 4: But then how do you with your relationship with Pete?
- 14:03Speaker 4: Like so, Matthew and I have been together, I think
- 14:07Speaker 4: since just after Jesus passed away, and so like, I
- 14:10Speaker 4: have never had to navigate him dealing with children previously,
- 14:14Speaker 4: whereas my sister has had to do that. And I
- 14:16Speaker 4: see how she does that, and she does it particularly well.
- 14:19Speaker 4: It's helpful because she taught the kids that are now
- 14:21Speaker 4: her step kids, so she knew them beforehand. But like
- 14:26Speaker 4: I can see that there is also like, you have
- 14:28Speaker 4: to let your husband love another family on this dat
- 14:30Speaker 4: you and that's I think that would be really difficult.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think that was one of my biggest challenges was
- 14:37Speaker 2: not being jealous. And you know, I feel embarrassed and
- 14:40Speaker 2: a bit pathetic to say that, but not the prior
- 14:43Speaker 2: alpha female thing going on. And I'm trying to have
- 14:47Speaker 2: an alpha female competition with someone who's ten you know. Yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 2: so that is interested. But the other thing is I
- 14:55Speaker 2: didn't have kids, and you know, when you have, you
- 14:58Speaker 2: you go from never having a child to having a
- 14:59Speaker 2: t You have a baby, but at least the baby
- 15:01Speaker 2: can't understand, well can't understand if you swear out of
- 15:05Speaker 2: frustration or whatever. You almost grow together. But you know,
- 15:08Speaker 2: these were fully formed human beings who it's like, Okay,
- 15:12Speaker 2: when I am behaving in an ill disciplined and emotional manner,
- 15:17Speaker 2: you understand that, you see that you are damaged by that.
- 15:20Speaker 2: And so that was something that it's like, it's hard
- 15:22Speaker 2: from that perspective that it's like your audience is immediately
- 15:26Speaker 2: smart and cluding and so you have to go all right,
- 15:28Speaker 2: well I wasn't. I wasn't in this role yesterday and
- 15:31Speaker 2: I am today, and I need to shut up and
- 15:34Speaker 2: be the grown up and be behind closed doors when
- 15:36Speaker 2: I need to have an immature little stamping of the feet. Yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 2: but it's so great. And you know, Claire works with
- 15:43Speaker 2: me on a number of things that I do, and
- 15:45Speaker 2: she's just so efficient and so calm and so friendly.
- 15:48Speaker 2: And yesterday I had my son Lewis in there with
- 15:50Speaker 2: her and it's like, well, Claire's in charge. It's like, well,
- 15:52Speaker 2: she's always been in charge, but you know, for him
- 15:54Speaker 2: to be able to learn from her too and go
- 15:56Speaker 2: all right, you two in charge of all of that.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So it was great. It was really good.
- 16:03Speaker 4: One of the things we did do yesterday was have questions. Yes,
- 16:06Speaker 4: and we didn't get to answer them all. And I've
- 16:07Speaker 4: got a few here that that did not get answered,
- 16:10Speaker 4: and I'm going to ask them to you. Oh yeah, I.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Haven't got a champagne. I feel like I need a drink.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I'm not going to ask. I'll ask a couple of
- 16:20Speaker 4: questions as we go through the podcast.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I did say, oh sorry after you left yesterday. There
- 16:24Speaker 2: are a couple of people he said to me, it's
- 16:26Speaker 2: a shame Cath couldn't have had a few drinks and
- 16:28Speaker 2: what's she like? And she's loose because Cath only had
- 16:31Speaker 2: one drink because she had to go and do broadcast.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yes, I did have to work. Yeah, I thought i'd
- 16:35Speaker 1: be semi professional.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Look at you go. You're really grown up night.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Okay, it's a constant battle, but.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Pock marked with regressions. Okay, what plans This is from Sharon.
- 16:50Speaker 4: What plans do you all have for the off season?
- 16:52Speaker 4: And how long will the podcast go? Oh there's an
- 16:54Speaker 4: off season apparently, but not for you yet. Yes, get through.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Well, I will be doing what I always do, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: that is going to Queensland and seeing the fam and
- 17:05Speaker 1: having a nice chill, relaxing time. We're actually we're going
- 17:09Speaker 1: on a cruise. I'm anti cruise.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I've never been on one. I have a negative bias.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Me too, I just do none of this is new information. Cafina.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're doing it because mum and dad a
- 17:22Speaker 1: little bit older now, they love it. So we thought
- 17:23Speaker 1: if we go as a multit is lost.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Where you're going.
- 17:30Speaker 1: It's it's literally Brisbane up to Early Beach and around
- 17:33Speaker 1: some of the islands or something rather than back. So
- 17:35Speaker 1: it's not hectic, and it's the open ocean that scares
- 17:38Speaker 1: the shit me. But it's also been contained. I know
- 17:40Speaker 1: it's a big ship.
- 17:41Speaker 2: What about the gastro.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Contained a petri dish.
- 17:45Speaker 2: But other than that, do you remember those people who
- 17:47Speaker 2: were on cruises when you first lockdown happened, and like
- 17:50Speaker 2: they have weeks and it's like people go, oh, I'll
- 17:53Speaker 2: just book an inner cabin. I don't need a window.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I'm going to be out of my cabin all day
- 17:56Speaker 2: or to sleep, and so now you're locked in your cabin. Now, yes,
- 18:03Speaker 2: that was terrible, but like so and trying to keep
- 18:05Speaker 2: all those people entertained and motivated. So they're sort of
- 18:08Speaker 2: from what I understand, people getting on the PA like
- 18:11Speaker 2: the the Julie McCoy cruise director, who I don't know
- 18:14Speaker 2: what the job is gone, but like, okay, now we're
- 18:17Speaker 2: going to learn napkin folding and so doing stuff like
- 18:20Speaker 2: that because they're just stuck in their rooms.
- 18:22Speaker 1: It would be the exercise or lack thereof them would
- 18:26Speaker 1: kill me. Absolutely yes. So anyway, that's what I'm doing
- 18:29Speaker 1: in my off season. I will report back in January
- 18:32Speaker 1: if cruising is for me or not.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Have you cruised years ago? I went on a cruise
- 18:37Speaker 4: on the first Other fun.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Ship, the first Other Fun Camp.
- 18:43Speaker 4: My son and my sister and two of my friends
- 18:47Speaker 4: did a cruise ride twenty.
- 18:48Speaker 1: First So a few years ago. You say.
- 18:54Speaker 2: They have ships back then?
- 18:55Speaker 4: Yeah, there were blokes with no shirts rowing out the
- 18:58Speaker 4: side with you. Yes, the captain was a Viking. Shut up?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, where did that one go? I don't But
- 19:12Speaker 1: did you enjoy it?
- 19:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I drunk the whole time, like.
- 19:15Speaker 4: It was a party, right, But I did think that's
- 19:17Speaker 4: it one and done.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I have done a cruise and whanker alert coming.
- 19:22Speaker 2: It was from Ushuaia, which is at the tip of
- 19:25Speaker 2: South America, to Antarctica. Ten days. Yea, it was really good.
- 19:30Speaker 1: That's different.
- 19:31Speaker 2: It wasn't really sort of shippy though, from what I
- 19:34Speaker 2: can understand, And I know a lot of people love
- 19:36Speaker 2: it and I'm ignorant in these opinions that.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I hold, But this one's got dodging cars. I'm down
- 19:42Speaker 1: for that.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Yeah, that's cruise ships with water slides and stuff.
- 19:46Speaker 2: If you've got kids, it's potentially great holiday, don't you
- 19:49Speaker 2: think though? Water slide on a cruise ship. It's like
- 19:51Speaker 2: how much tinier can you have?
- 19:55Speaker 1: Any water park infection?
- 19:58Speaker 2: Post bar?
- 20:00Speaker 4: We did go to when Wild earlier this year together
- 20:03Speaker 4: and I just have to, like I have to almost
- 20:05Speaker 4: meditate those thoughts of Tinny out of my brains. I
- 20:08Speaker 4: can't think about it.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And that was a hectic day, so busy, and the
- 20:13Speaker 1: water is warm, Like is that warm because it's sore?
- 20:16Speaker 2: Is it because it's You don't want to think Queensland
- 20:18Speaker 2: in summer. Just think of it like that. There's so
- 20:20Speaker 2: much chlorine and that stuff too. They are really what
- 20:23Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 20:24Speaker 4: Lie season?
- 20:24Speaker 2: So we're going to for staycation this year, my mum
- 20:27Speaker 2: and her partner coming home from New Zealand to stay
- 20:29Speaker 2: with us Christmas at home, which we haven't done in
- 20:31Speaker 2: a few years, and I'm looking forward to that. And
- 20:34Speaker 2: apparently this summer is meant to be not too hot,
- 20:37Speaker 2: not too cold, just to normal summer and that would
- 20:39Speaker 2: be nice because only lock summer. Yeah, that would be good,
- 20:42Speaker 2: That would be great.
- 20:43Speaker 4: What about you same just staying at home and I
- 20:46Speaker 4: mean we need a chair of net for all Australia.
- 20:48Speaker 4: There's actually no such thing as an off season.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So sure there's a little bit of time you can
- 20:53Speaker 1: turn the brain off.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Well, I'll try and turn the brain off for a
- 20:55Speaker 4: couple of weeks, but you know, things are doing.
- 20:59Speaker 2: But I think the question was not so much about
- 21:01Speaker 2: what our holiday plans are, is what are our plans
- 21:03Speaker 2: for the podcast And at this stage we're working that
- 21:05Speaker 2: through and we're hoping to have some time away from
- 21:08Speaker 2: one another to keep the love alyye right, But we're
- 21:11Speaker 2: going to try to produce some content that we can
- 21:14Speaker 2: release over that time so that there is still podcast stuff,
- 21:17Speaker 2: but we won't be doing it necessarily on a weekly basis,
- 21:21Speaker 2: so we'll take four weeks off or something like that,
- 21:23Speaker 2: but we want to stay in your hearts and minds.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go for Carolin. Thanks Sharon, What color
- 21:28Speaker 4: underpants are you wearing?
- 21:31Speaker 1: Cat?
- 21:31Speaker 2: Is that you? Is that your g.
- 21:34Speaker 1: What color underpants are you wearing?
- 21:35Speaker 2: I imagine they're black. They're black almost every single day
- 21:38Speaker 2: unless there's a reason to not wear black underpants. I've
- 21:40Speaker 2: got black underpants.
- 21:41Speaker 1: On with hul hoof not right, No.
- 21:44Speaker 4: I think that was from Peape.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I think that was thanks Darling.
- 21:47Speaker 1: There you go.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Okay, Well that's two questions. What do we talk about
- 21:50Speaker 4: some network?
- 21:53Speaker 1: How good was the game? So I know everybody wanted
- 21:57Speaker 1: the Diamonds to win, but this is the best result
- 22:00Speaker 1: because you want to have some atmosphere around the third
- 22:03Speaker 1: test match. It's in Bendigo, which I've got to say
- 22:05Speaker 1: awesome for people in Bendigo. Heartbreaking because this game, if
- 22:10Speaker 1: it was that John Caine Arena, would have sold out
- 22:13Speaker 1: in a heartbeat, so we could have had a monster crowd.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But it'll be great to take it to Country Vic
- 22:18Speaker 1: and it's just I'm so pumped there's a decider on
- 22:21Speaker 1: the cards instead of it being the other.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Way around England. The new silver Ferns for a one.
- 22:25Speaker 1: They are well, it'll be really interesting because the good
- 22:28Speaker 1: thing is we don't have to wait too long to
- 22:29Speaker 1: see if that is indeed the case. Because the Diamonds
- 22:32Speaker 1: are playing the Ferns in October. The Rose is actually
- 22:36Speaker 1: going straight from Australia to New Zealand to play the
- 22:39Speaker 1: Ferns first. That will be really interesting and then we'll
- 22:42Speaker 1: get a shot at them after that. So we'll see,
- 22:44Speaker 1: we'll see if the scorelines are any closer. But you
- 22:46Speaker 1: get the feeling the rivalries. Now with England, I have
- 22:49Speaker 1: a new girl crush FORMI Foridajhu.
- 22:52Speaker 4: How did you know?
- 22:53Speaker 1: Because she's a defender and she was on foot.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Amazing. So I was sitting there thinking why is she
- 22:59Speaker 4: not playing Super Network? Do you know the answer? Yes, yes,
- 23:02Speaker 4: it's amazing. You tell the story.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Well, she wants to stay and finish UNI.
- 23:05Speaker 4: She's studying medicine. What about England pumping out gold defenders
- 23:10Speaker 4: who who are doctors? But it also shows that the
- 23:13Speaker 4: defensive end is a thinking woman's end of the court.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Just start this crack all day yesterday. What was your
- 23:20Speaker 1: dumb comment about defense wins games?
- 23:22Speaker 4: It wasn't dumb.
- 23:25Speaker 2: That attack Phil staateselves memberships and swings championships. I'd love
- 23:31Speaker 2: to attend that I made that ships and ships are
- 23:33Speaker 2: like that, that's nice.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so, but she was amazing. So when I hadn't
- 23:38Speaker 4: seen her play before and I was when the game started,
- 23:41Speaker 4: I thought, oh gosh, she's a bit little to me
- 23:43Speaker 4: in the circle. I have never seen a leap like it.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Imagine if her in Sharal McMartin at Cho's Peak played
- 23:48Speaker 4: against each other, it would be like remember road Runner
- 23:51Speaker 4: and Whileie Cody when they rolled around and it just
- 23:53Speaker 4: became a blur. It would be that would be those
- 23:55Speaker 4: two if that each other.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, she was nuts. And it's funny because after the
- 23:59Speaker 1: first two she didn't start the first test and bi
- 24:01Speaker 1: Anchor Chatfield in conferences like, they've got to get for
- 24:03Speaker 1: me on, have to get her on, and that is
- 24:05Speaker 1: exactly why. So England had ten gains, got ball back
- 24:09Speaker 1: ten times last night for me got eight of them. Wow,
- 24:13Speaker 1: next level. Yeah, so needless to say she'll be starting. Surely.
- 24:18Speaker 4: She was awesome.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But England also didn't make They only made one change
- 24:22Speaker 1: to their wing defense position on Sunday. In the first game.
- 24:25Speaker 1: They put every single player out there trying to find
- 24:27Speaker 1: some sort of answer. So isn't that interesting when it's
- 24:29Speaker 1: working for you.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Mess with it?
- 24:33Speaker 4: So What did you think about the Diamonds starting line
- 24:36Speaker 4: and then the changes that were made through the game?
- 24:38Speaker 1: I think I think the starting line was fine. I mean,
- 24:40Speaker 1: they've got to do it right, like this is the
- 24:42Speaker 1: time to do it and you're not going to lose anything.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Putting Carra Conan on instead of Garbon and the other
- 24:47Speaker 1: change they made in the mid court and Amy Parmenter
- 24:50Speaker 1: onto the wing defense in the middle. Yeah, but it
- 24:53Speaker 1: didn't work, so they pulled the changes. Conan was a
- 24:56Speaker 1: little off, might have been nerves, might have been. Whatever.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I mean, you come on as the shooter in the
- 25:00Speaker 1: second test after Sophie Garvin's had an absolute standout game
- 25:03Speaker 1: in the first test, there's a bit of pressure on you. Yeah,
- 25:06Speaker 1: whilst you're already in the team, you still want to
- 25:08Speaker 1: put your hand up MI show Stacey Morienkovic you're the
- 25:10Speaker 1: best goal shooter, don't you. So she might have been
- 25:12Speaker 1: feeling a bit nervous there, but even when Garvin came on,
- 25:14Speaker 1: didn't have the same freedom that she had in the
- 25:16Speaker 1: first test. So it'll be really interesting to see what
- 25:19Speaker 1: Stacey does for the third one.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought the English scrambled defense was fantastic. When
- 25:23Speaker 4: you saw their switches in play that it was just
- 25:26Speaker 4: so good and so intuitive the way they did it.
- 25:28Speaker 4: So fran Williams was outstanding as well.
- 25:32Speaker 2: They just seemed to want it more, didn't they. The
- 25:35Speaker 2: roses it was like that. After the first match though
- 25:37Speaker 2: went okay, this one's going to be different, and it was,
- 25:39Speaker 2: and it was different from the very first center pass.
- 25:41Speaker 1: But far calmer, like the attack end Alison and Pearson.
- 25:45Speaker 1: How good she It was only your second test and
- 25:48Speaker 1: she ended with the most feeds, most assists, most center passes,
- 25:51Speaker 1: like she was so calm, how she'd been playing for years?
- 25:54Speaker 4: Well, and I reckon that happens. I've said this before.
- 25:56Speaker 4: It happened so often with England when we used to
- 25:58Speaker 4: play them, before we had had any players over here.
- 26:01Speaker 4: We play them and the first game we would win easily,
- 26:06Speaker 4: and it was like they go, oh, okay, that's the
- 26:08Speaker 4: intensity in the speed. We've got to play that right.
- 26:11Speaker 4: And then the second game would be closer, and then
- 26:13Speaker 4: the last game would be an absolute arm wrestled. But
- 26:15Speaker 4: because England have got Helen Howsby and Fraan Williams and
- 26:18Speaker 4: a little Carbo who play here, it was like they
- 26:20Speaker 4: can just sort of skip through that they all needed
- 26:24Speaker 4: to see the intensity, right, so the mid court in particular,
- 26:27Speaker 4: and now they've gone, okay, this is what we need
- 26:30Speaker 4: and it's going to be a ripping third game.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Well, and it was a home game for Helen Houseby
- 26:34Speaker 2: like when she went out, so there was a massive
- 26:36Speaker 2: cheer for her. Absolutely, Sydney, come on, you know there's
- 26:39Speaker 2: swifts and then there's diamonds. Understand what we are looking
- 26:42Speaker 2: at him?
- 26:43Speaker 1: Far more physical too on Sunday, so I reckon it's
- 26:45Speaker 1: going to be even more so on Wednesday night.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Exciting. So one of the dribblers did point out, with
- 26:51Speaker 2: some level of frustration, that this was not the right
- 26:54Speaker 2: time for me to start tipping. Yeah, correctly, you guys
- 26:57Speaker 2: tipped to three Neil diamonds and I tip two to one.
- 27:01Speaker 2: But actually I think now is the time. Now is
- 27:02Speaker 2: the time we want me to be correct because if
- 27:05Speaker 2: I'm incorrect again now, then we were.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Losing it Australia. Australia won't lose on Wednesday night. We
- 27:10Speaker 1: don't lose two in a row. We don't and we
- 27:11Speaker 1: don't lose big moments. So this is the decider. We
- 27:14Speaker 1: will win.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Around one hundred and fifty people in our function yesterday
- 27:18Speaker 2: one Roses supporter.
- 27:21Speaker 1: She came undone and she's like, whoa, oh shit, give
- 27:25Speaker 1: us a move with your Roses supporter and recare Oh
- 27:30Speaker 1: just me then?
- 27:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you know the last time I think Australia lost
- 27:33Speaker 4: two Test matches in a row, I was a captain,
- 27:35Speaker 4: So there you go. Oh wow, that was four hundred
- 27:38Speaker 4: years ago. Okay, were twenty one oh thirty if you
- 27:43Speaker 4: don't mind, Okay, I've got a question for you, given
- 27:45Speaker 4: that you talked about how physical you think the game
- 27:47Speaker 4: will be. This is from Neve and Taylor, my friend
- 27:50Speaker 4: and I think that ball should have a video ref
- 27:52Speaker 4: slash bunker. What are your thoughts.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I don't think there's time for that, but I do
- 27:57Speaker 1: think very passionately that there should be limited number of
- 28:01Speaker 1: penalties and if you exceed that, you're off because at
- 28:06Speaker 1: the moment you can contact till the cows come home
- 28:08Speaker 1: and there's absolutely no repercussion spoken like an attack by right.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Yeah, how do you say that to Sarah Cloud who's
- 28:16Speaker 5: got the exactly Sarah Cloud exactly and stop stop getting
- 28:22Speaker 5: the penalties.
- 28:23Speaker 1: And the reason I say this is because a season
- 28:25Speaker 1: of doing commentary and particularly around the swifts. They were
- 28:29Speaker 1: so highly penalized, and it was stupid penalties that they
- 28:31Speaker 1: would be out of play, Like it's just not necessary.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Sometimes you do have to give away penalties.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Though, I get that do that early in the game, but.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Also like it's our game is so attack friendly, Like
- 28:43Speaker 4: the thought of introducing some sort of system where you're
- 28:47Speaker 4: off after so many penalties, can you imagine like I'm not.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Talking about like five penalties.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Well, I would hope not excesses. I would last a quarter.
- 28:55Speaker 4: But but what's excessive? Right, So my definition of excessive
- 28:59Speaker 4: is very different to your difficult.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Well, a definition of excessive would have been probably this season,
- 29:04Speaker 1: people that were over twenty would eventually get benched by
- 29:07Speaker 1: their club anyway because they were out of play too much.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Well that's the coaches, John No, But that's what I'm saying.
- 29:12Speaker 1: So I think that's that's a lot like that is
- 29:14Speaker 1: a lot of penalties.
- 29:15Speaker 4: What depends and depends who the umpires are too, you know,
- 29:18Speaker 4: like when we.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Played Unless it's not down for this, I'm not at all.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Here's a question, then, what was the roughest game you
- 29:24Speaker 4: ever played? I don't know who that was from question.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Well, mine's pretty any any game against me, I thought
- 29:33Speaker 1: that had gone to the grave, that was just the theater.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I actually wasn't any game against Viillhelmina Dabu, the keeper
- 29:44Speaker 1: for New Zealand. I felt like I had to get
- 29:46Speaker 1: her surgically removed from me at the end of the game.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Yea, we would laugh because Catherine, you never you didn't sweat.
- 29:53Speaker 4: You listened a bit because you used such a and
- 29:55Speaker 4: we would laugh because you would come off playing against
- 29:57Speaker 4: her and the front of you would be dry because
- 29:59Speaker 4: you swept. At the back of you would be saturated
- 30:02Speaker 4: because Wilhelmina from her okay, like me, was a sweater.
- 30:06Speaker 4: I was very much down with her and her sweat.
- 30:08Speaker 4: I would sweat like I ran a marathon in the
- 30:11Speaker 4: warm up. She was the same. And we were just
- 30:13Speaker 4: laugh going, oh my god, look at your uniform right
- 30:15Speaker 4: at the front, saturated at the back because really just
- 30:19Speaker 4: absolutely just ran so hard at you.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Yeah, with you. She was good, she was great. What
- 30:24Speaker 1: was yours? Anything against Irene?
- 30:26Speaker 4: Yeah, her and I would try and beat the life
- 30:28Speaker 4: out of each I remember the New Zealand commentators used
- 30:31Speaker 4: to call me a rush, which I think means rashing kiwi.
- 30:34Speaker 6: Oh, she's such a rush finally hit me.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Yes, But you know what the other thing that I
- 30:46Speaker 4: thought I was when I read this question, what's the
- 30:48Speaker 4: roughest game you ever played? I got to say, I
- 30:50Speaker 4: reckon it was probably training. Oh my god, yes, when
- 30:53Speaker 4: you and I would beat the life out of each other.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Do you know the funniest one I think was you
- 30:56Speaker 1: and Jane Oldschwag are at training and I remember Jane
- 30:59Speaker 1: and my I'd have been one of her first years,
- 31:01Speaker 1: but she had much play at the end and she
- 31:04Speaker 1: got contacted or something on that and she's like, oh, Liz,
- 31:07Speaker 1: that was a contact like and You're like, so it's
- 31:11Speaker 1: gonna happen in the game, so suck it up. And
- 31:14Speaker 1: then after that she nervous said another word. I was like,
- 31:17Speaker 1: this is awesome.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Because Julie Fitzgerald's philosophy was when by the time you
- 31:23Speaker 4: get to the game, and I think it was she
- 31:25Speaker 4: got this from listening to an interview with Lauren Jackson,
- 31:27Speaker 4: who said they went so hard at training at each
- 31:29Speaker 4: other that by the time you get to the game
- 31:31Speaker 4: with umpires, you're like, oh, this is so easy.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so someone's going to control this right, So we would.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Go so hard against each other. And Julie used to
- 31:39Speaker 4: have this thing where you had to get like ten
- 31:41Speaker 4: passes and then take a shot yep, and like you
- 31:44Speaker 4: would go your hardest, but the worst thing is when
- 31:46Speaker 4: you were successful, it meant you had to start all
- 31:48Speaker 4: over again. Yeah, So if I got a tip point
- 31:50Speaker 4: incept on the eighth pass, it was like, okay, if
- 31:54Speaker 4: we go again. So I think the roughest games were
- 31:56Speaker 4: actually against each other at training, and sometimes at training
- 31:59Speaker 4: we would drive to training children from training together and
- 32:02Speaker 4: sometimes we get the car and not be able to
- 32:03Speaker 4: talk to each other until we're like on the Harbor
- 32:05Speaker 4: bridge on.
- 32:07Speaker 1: The way back.
- 32:07Speaker 4: The airing of the grievances, No, there was no airing.
- 32:09Speaker 4: That was just looking, don't talk to me, don't talk
- 32:11Speaker 4: to each other. Look at different times, talk to me.
- 32:14Speaker 1: You dirty bit.
- 32:15Speaker 2: I had some conversations yesterday with some Giants fans and
- 32:18Speaker 2: they all liked hearing from me that I thought the
- 32:20Speaker 2: Giants could have been in the finals if not for
- 32:22Speaker 2: ten points different in the last five games. And I
- 32:24Speaker 2: do think that's right. But they're talking about we're talking
- 32:25Speaker 2: about Amy Slager, who's the wing defense for the Giants
- 32:28Speaker 2: and that game I went to the Fever game. Amy
- 32:31Speaker 2: was fabulous and they were saying her mother, Julie, who
- 32:34Speaker 2: is a dribbler, is a great umpire because she knows
- 32:37Speaker 2: how to umpire wing defenses. But yeah, they were just
- 32:41Speaker 2: saying that she really lets the game, controls the game
- 32:45Speaker 2: very well. So I mentioned.
- 32:46Speaker 1: This into a wing defense chart. This is an opportunity.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Actually, I ran into Amy Slager at a Minerva Foundation function,
- 32:55Speaker 4: and Minerva are a great foundation. They it's business senior
- 32:58Speaker 4: business women who mentor athletes athletes. So I met Amy
- 33:04Speaker 4: Parmenter's mentor yesterday and it's chaired by Christine McLaughlin who
- 33:08Speaker 4: is the chair of sunk Cord. So she's fantastic and
- 33:11Speaker 4: does a heap of work around it. And I went
- 33:13Speaker 4: to a function recently and Amy was there and she
- 33:16Speaker 4: showed me a photo of her when she was a
- 33:18Speaker 4: little girl with a Lizzellis. I love Lizzella's side. Oh, Amy,
- 33:23Speaker 4: she's my favorite player.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Now, did you I don't know how many people came
- 33:26Speaker 1: up to you yesterday, but so many people that are
- 33:28Speaker 1: now grown adults. Oh, we used to come to your clinics.
- 33:32Speaker 1: You and Catholic My favorite coaches. I'm like, oh my god,
- 33:35Speaker 1: how old are you?
- 33:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so depressing, isn't it. We are so old?
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well we aren't when you have those conversations. Otherwise,
- 33:42Speaker 1: in my head and clearly yours, you're only twenty three
- 33:44Speaker 1: or thereabouts.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I am.
- 33:46Speaker 2: You're back to go on the fair start of the
- 33:48Speaker 2: fun ship again.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Oh Gidea, that thing got sunk, didn't it. I don't know.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Here's a question, what's your opinion if a player is
- 34:00Speaker 4: a new Diamond likely to debut, should it be in
- 34:02Speaker 4: front of their home crowd or based on form and
- 34:05Speaker 4: how the game is panning out? And I'll edit this
- 34:07Speaker 4: and say or whether Catherine likes them or not.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Well, look, you've got to take everything into account. For instance,
- 34:16Speaker 1: adelaide I would have one hundred percent started Georgie not
- 34:18Speaker 1: started Georgia sorry, had her in the ten because you
- 34:21Speaker 1: had Sophi Dwyre in the ten. She didn't play, so
- 34:23Speaker 1: what's the difference.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Well, then if she doesn't run on is that no?
- 34:28Speaker 1: But still she's in the it's something for the home
- 34:30Speaker 1: side to get excited. She's in the team. She's been announced,
- 34:33Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, it's a little bit closer to I
- 34:36Speaker 1: don't know.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I think we look at that first match and say,
- 34:39Speaker 2: Stacy Marinkovich selected the right team and put the right
- 34:42Speaker 2: team on the court.
- 34:42Speaker 1: She did, but no Dwyer played emails or had Georgie hawgees.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean? I don't know. I
- 34:48Speaker 1: just feel like, surely you can take that into consideration.
- 34:51Speaker 1: It's like, for instance, the ninety nine World Cup, so
- 34:54Speaker 1: Vicky Wilson was stranded on ninety nine Test caps. All
- 34:59Speaker 1: she had to do who was taken to the court
- 35:01Speaker 1: in that final game of her career and the final
- 35:04Speaker 1: game of the tournament, wasn't.
- 35:04Speaker 4: I She had to take the court in every game
- 35:06Speaker 4: of the tournament, And midway through the tournament, Jill Mack
- 35:08Speaker 4: decided that Big was going to have her rest day,
- 35:10Speaker 4: which left a strand that on ninety nine caps. We thought,
- 35:14Speaker 4: until someone went back and did a recount.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Until someone who could count, Well.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Do you know that the person who actually did the
- 35:21Speaker 4: first count of all the Test caps? Because Netball and
- 35:23Speaker 4: started recording its Test caps in the early nineties, right
- 35:27Speaker 4: when Keiley DeVry was the media manager, and she got
- 35:29Speaker 4: this intern in to actually go through all of the
- 35:31Speaker 4: old score sheets. From all the old test matches and
- 35:34Speaker 4: to count them up, and that in turn was me
- 35:38Speaker 4: and I mucked up. So she retired thinking she was
- 35:42Speaker 4: on ninety nine and then someone found five other things
- 35:45Speaker 4: that I hadn't counted, and she's one hundred and four hundred.
- 35:47Speaker 2: That is hilarious.
- 35:48Speaker 1: I think there was a part of you that knew
- 35:50Speaker 1: you were going to go past her record and just
- 35:52Speaker 1: wanted to make sure you went right past it. Just
- 35:54Speaker 1: wanted to be I was going to high those five.
- 35:56Speaker 4: She'll never know, given that I hadn't debut for Australia
- 35:59Speaker 4: at that point, that would have been very impressive for me,
- 36:01Speaker 4: thinking on my behalf.
- 36:02Speaker 2: But yes, So as we go into the third Test,
- 36:06Speaker 2: what do you think this means for Georgie Horges and
- 36:09Speaker 2: ash Irvin as their likelihood of are they likely to
- 36:14Speaker 2: get her call up in the third one?
- 36:16Speaker 1: I think potentially because Rudy Ellis came on the other
- 36:19Speaker 1: on Sunday again and didn't have the She was good,
- 36:22Speaker 1: she was in it and she was physical and everything else,
- 36:24Speaker 1: but she got taken off pretty quickly afterwards, so I
- 36:27Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe she's had her little touch. Maybe they
- 36:29Speaker 1: bring Ash on for the last one. Again, not necessarily
- 36:32Speaker 1: on the court, but maybe they'll stick her in the
- 36:34Speaker 1: twelve for their game.
- 36:35Speaker 2: But with Georgie, like you know, Liz Watson. You know,
- 36:40Speaker 2: there's no reason that you would swap Georgie for Liz Watson,
- 36:43Speaker 2: is there.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I don't know that they'll do it in a decider, no,
- 36:47Speaker 1: but I still wouldn't be opposed to her being in
- 36:49Speaker 1: the twelve.
- 36:51Speaker 4: I think had the Diamonds won on Sunday, we would
- 36:55Speaker 4: have seen a different team definitely, But there's still that pride.
- 36:58Speaker 4: And I know that Stasim Marinkovic wants to test people out,
- 37:01Speaker 4: but I'm pretty sure she also wants to absolutely put
- 37:04Speaker 4: a best twelve. Yeah, so I suspect they'll have a
- 37:06Speaker 4: few I have a training run maybe tomorrow, and she'll
- 37:09Speaker 4: make her final decisions.
- 37:10Speaker 2: So I would have thought this would make it more
- 37:14Speaker 2: difficult to try to take any types of gambles, I guess.
- 37:18Speaker 2: And there's four tests coming up against New Zealand, so yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 1: And you know there'll be another twelve announced for that
- 37:24Speaker 1: actually though a different twelve altogether, and that's being announced
- 37:27Speaker 1: on Wednesday.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Oh wow, and when's the Bandigo test?
- 37:30Speaker 1: Wednesday?
- 37:31Speaker 2: Okay, maybe they should announce that on Thursday for the constellation.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I think they want to do it so they can
- 37:36Speaker 1: get it on the Fox broadcast, you know, make a
- 37:38Speaker 1: big think of it, which you'd be great, but it
- 37:40Speaker 1: will be a different side because not forgetting Tonel Wallam
- 37:42Speaker 1: is still in that squad, it's not there. Bakldoran is
- 37:45Speaker 1: in the squad as well, so there's Cusha.
- 37:47Speaker 4: We've got some good players.
- 37:48Speaker 1: So there's potentially some changes coming for that one.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Oh that's exciting, all right, So we have to we
- 37:57Speaker 2: are almost out of time, but we have to do
- 37:59Speaker 2: one of the things that we think is the most important.
- 38:01Speaker 2: How great was it yesterday to have several win beneath
- 38:02Speaker 2: our wingers in the room. Obviously we had Mandy, We
- 38:05Speaker 2: had Marie from Northbridge, a president of northridch We had
- 38:09Speaker 2: many presidents in the room yesterday which was very exciting.
- 38:12Speaker 2: And we also had Barb there from the Shamrocks so
- 38:14Speaker 2: that was terrific. And we are hoping to receive more
- 38:18Speaker 2: voice notes please for nominations, and this is exciting. I
- 38:22Speaker 2: have a voice note for us.
- 38:23Speaker 4: Wow.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, we're ready for it. Hi, Lizen Cath, It's Carolyn.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I'm just sitting on the other side of the table
- 38:31Speaker 2: from you. This is my voice note. I would like
- 38:35Speaker 2: to make a nomination for Win Beneath Our Wings and
- 38:37Speaker 2: it's someone who has been an active dribbler from the
- 38:40Speaker 2: beginning and brings the life to a whole lot of things.
- 38:44Speaker 2: This person has been a detective and found some very
- 38:47Speaker 2: incriminating evidence online about one Catherine Ann Cox yesterday at
- 38:52Speaker 2: the party at the No Dribble Live events, she really
- 38:55Speaker 2: made people feel welcome and engaged and part of it.
- 38:59Speaker 2: So nation for Wind Beneath the Wings this week is
- 39:01Speaker 2: Nikki Komway Buckley from New Kow. Yeah, she's a Mad
- 39:05Speaker 2: Giants supporter. She were a Giant skiar yesterday instead of
- 39:08Speaker 2: Diamonds gear because she's also a Mad Joe Harton supporter.
- 39:11Speaker 2: So yeah, So I would like to nominate Nikki Komo
- 39:13Speaker 2: Buckley and I will have my wine boucher. Thank you
- 39:15Speaker 2: very much.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Wow, how did you manage to do a voice note
- 39:20Speaker 4: and send it to us?
- 39:20Speaker 2: Oh? Well, I did it on in a microphone right
- 39:23Speaker 2: in front of me. But if I was going to
- 39:26Speaker 2: do it differently, I would record it on Instagram And
- 39:28Speaker 2: if you struggle with that, send us a DM via
- 39:33Speaker 2: Messenger or Facebook whatever, and we'll work out how to
- 39:37Speaker 2: do it. So and well done everyone not texting me
- 39:39Speaker 2: during the game last week when I was deep in
- 39:42Speaker 2: Diamond's cocktail territory.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah, which we wanted you to. But anyway, you've still
- 39:46Speaker 1: got her number. Guys. Whilst we're on that Printhy, we're
- 39:49Speaker 1: going to thank our great sponsors for yesterday. Yes, they
- 39:51Speaker 1: gave us some good stuff, so Vla Frula Printhy free
- 39:54Speaker 1: chock senters, free chocks for everyone.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Why did you get a pack?
- 39:57Speaker 2: I've got one for you.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but I did go to a few tables
- 40:00Speaker 1: and they said these go really well with Champagne.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Oh.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I was like, right, I don't need to twist my arm.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I'll give that a go. And the Swifts and the
- 40:06Speaker 1: Giants gave us some fabulous family passes for games next year.
- 40:09Speaker 1: So that was amazing.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Thank you very much to all those people who helped
- 40:13Speaker 2: support our wonderful event. Yeah.
- 40:15Speaker 4: I think that's not our last Dribblers event.
- 40:17Speaker 2: No, And so yesterday we had our very first outing
- 40:20Speaker 2: our own no Drible t shirts and so far they're
- 40:23Speaker 2: only made for the three of us and for Claire
- 40:25Speaker 2: and Lewis who worked at the event. But we had
- 40:27Speaker 2: a lot of people saying that they really love the
- 40:28Speaker 2: T shirt. So we are in the process of investigating
- 40:31Speaker 2: how we can get some no dribble merch out before Christmas. See,
- 40:36Speaker 2: there were two husbands in the room yesterday and they
- 40:39Speaker 2: both asked, please, could you sort that out before Christmas?
- 40:41Speaker 1: Oh?
- 40:41Speaker 4: Got it?
- 40:43Speaker 1: Jesus those husbands not only are they at the event,
- 40:45Speaker 1: they're already thinking ahead to Christmas. Wow, keep those ones, guys.
- 40:49Speaker 2: I don't think Nick and Emily had been married that long. Honestly,
- 40:52Speaker 2: he's very attentive.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, Emily's outstanding. Her and I did play together
- 40:56Speaker 4: in that Sun call.
- 40:58Speaker 2: She only mentioned that to me fourteen or five times.
- 41:01Speaker 4: She did and say hello, Temmy, how are you going.
- 41:04Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, she's awesome. But yeah, so keep a
- 41:07Speaker 4: hand of your nice blokes, because you know, Cox is
- 41:10Speaker 4: England on the lookout.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so we are hoping to take this sort of
- 41:15Speaker 2: event other places around the country. We had such a
- 41:17Speaker 2: great time, but it was just so we knew the
- 41:19Speaker 2: dribblers were nice, but it was. It was really fun.
- 41:22Speaker 2: So but let's share the joy. If you are enjoying
- 41:25Speaker 2: this podcast, please share it. You know, there were lots
- 41:27Speaker 2: of people at that game yesterday who aren't listening to
- 41:30Speaker 2: our podcast. We see the numbers, like you know, we're
- 41:33Speaker 2: a good, happy, inclusive bunch. More and more and more,
- 41:35Speaker 2: and you know, tell people to join the Facebook group.
- 41:37Speaker 2: If you're not in the Facebook group, get on the
- 41:39Speaker 2: Facebook group.
- 41:40Speaker 1: And poast your photos. If you're at the event yesterday,
- 41:42Speaker 1: put your photos up so everyone can see them. Yea,
- 41:44Speaker 1: it was so much fun.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Thank you. And also I just want to acknowledge em
- 41:48Speaker 2: from Darwin who was there yesterday. Emma from Darwin, and
- 41:51Speaker 2: when she met me, she said, oh my god, the
- 41:52Speaker 2: way they talked, Carol and I thought you were the
- 41:54Speaker 2: sides of a doll. I thought, what a creepy doll
- 41:57Speaker 2: that would be, Like Megan.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I will I will post a photo though, because there
- 42:02Speaker 1: was a moment you were standing on stage and Liz
- 42:04Speaker 1: and I were on the ground and we were the
- 42:07Speaker 1: same height.
- 42:07Speaker 2: So it's a short stage, Catherine, I don't know.
- 42:10Speaker 1: It was quite the leaf for some people to get
- 42:12Speaker 1: up onto. But also there was not forgetting. If you're
- 42:15Speaker 1: at the event yesterday, there was a valor voucher for
- 42:17Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty dollars to win, and congratulations to Donna.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Now we think it's Bascar, Bisker, b sker. I don't
- 42:25Speaker 1: know how many champagne you'd had, Donna, did you get
- 42:27Speaker 1: your own name wrong?
- 42:28Speaker 4: Or baker for a week?
- 42:30Speaker 2: Well, yeah, Donnie, you should get it tattooed on your wrists. Congratulations.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Ready to get a QRK with your name and your
- 42:39Speaker 4: phone number tattooed on your wrist. And then when you're out,
- 42:41Speaker 4: Catherine and you met nice blokes, you could just go stop.
- 42:44Speaker 2: But what about you just buy your drinks that way?
- 42:46Speaker 2: You get on and I reckon my ten years from
- 42:50Speaker 2: that little micro chip. Yep, chip me up. I'm ready
- 42:54Speaker 2: for it all. I'm so tired. Where's my wallet? Where's
- 42:56Speaker 2: my handbag? Where are my glasses? Anyway, not on your arm, because.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Imagine if you're a rich millionaire, someone's going to drop
- 43:02Speaker 1: that shit off to take it. That's true.
- 43:04Speaker 4: You go straight to the truth.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, podcast, I'm all about stealing money from
- 43:08Speaker 1: the loaded people here.
- 43:10Speaker 2: In this financial advice podcast brought to you by people
- 43:13Speaker 2: who know nothing about anything.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Yes, if you are this is not professional advice, Please
- 43:18Speaker 4: seek your own based.
- 43:19Speaker 2: On your own circumstances, but yeah, go diamond So yesterday
- 43:25Speaker 2: I was very magnanimous to Colleen. I said, we want
- 43:28Speaker 2: you to have an okay time today. We don't want
- 43:29Speaker 2: you to have a bad time at the Test. I
- 43:31Speaker 2: want you to have a bad time on Wednesday.
- 43:34Speaker 1: This is done with that.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, come on, Diamonds. We are We're all in.
- 43:38Speaker 2: But I think very exciting to have a third Test.
- 43:41Speaker 2: And if you missed out on tickets to Bender, go
- 43:42Speaker 2: well buy them early next time. Don't risk it, don't
- 43:45Speaker 2: wait around to see if it's going to be a
- 43:46Speaker 2: Test decider. Get your tickets. So speaking, which have you
- 43:50Speaker 2: got tickets for the Grand Final? Okay?
- 43:51Speaker 3: No?
- 43:53Speaker 4: Is there another sport?
- 43:54Speaker 2: Apparently there's something going on in Melbourne.
- 43:58Speaker 4: Of course I care because the Swans are in it.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Yes, that's the only reason I'm so durst.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I'm a little bit excited at the fact that it's Sydney.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I know, it's so good, it's so good.
- 44:09Speaker 4: I'm a little bit dirty at the fact that that
- 44:11Speaker 4: I got asked to work at a function on the
- 44:14Speaker 4: Grand Final day at the MCG so I could have
- 44:17Speaker 4: mc to function and then sat and watched the game
- 44:19Speaker 4: and I said no because Saturday is my daughter's thirteenth birthday.
- 44:23Speaker 1: I'm really questioning much good mom. She too old to
- 44:27Speaker 1: pull the wool over the eyes I did with Austin,
- 44:29Speaker 1: Yeah birthday, but she's not too young to be paid off.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Now she's getting to the age where it's like, well,
- 44:38Speaker 2: what have we got here? What sort of compensation are
- 44:41Speaker 2: we talking?
- 44:42Speaker 4: But I did miss my last year. I missed everyone's birthday,
- 44:46Speaker 4: so I missed Austin's birthday. I was in the jungle,
- 44:48Speaker 4: and I missed Everly's and Matthew's birthday because I was
- 44:51Speaker 4: filming Gladiators. But I did get Evelyn down to Gladiators,
- 44:54Speaker 4: and the gladiators sang her Happy Birthday, and she had
- 44:57Speaker 4: these beautiful lycraclad men giving her a cake. Which was
- 45:00Speaker 4: far too young to understand the impressiveness of.
- 45:02Speaker 1: The men that stuffed your algorithms. Yeah, the men that
- 45:05Speaker 1: stuff my algorithms. But like, look, I probably should be
- 45:08Speaker 1: that she's also playing rugby state championships.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I have to be there, so I do feel like
- 45:14Speaker 2: we just might explain the algorithms thing. No, the men
- 45:17Speaker 2: who stuffed your algorithms, I just you started following them on.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I started Instagram and they're crossfitters. Now you get CrossFit content.
- 45:24Speaker 4: So I started to follow all of the gladiators on
- 45:27Speaker 4: Gladiators and I thought, oh, this is nice and following
- 45:29Speaker 4: on these people who I now work with and I like,
- 45:33Speaker 4: but it stuffed my Instagram algorithms. I kept on getting
- 45:37Speaker 4: all this CrossFit content and pure eating content, and and
- 45:41Speaker 4: I was like, I don't need this. Where's my wine
- 45:43Speaker 4: and cheese content and my restaurant content.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Yeah, the pure eating thing, I can understand. CrossFit content's
- 45:48Speaker 2: awesome though, if you're a crossfitter or just you know,
- 45:52Speaker 2: if you admire.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Well they're creepy.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Well that's all we've got time for. Next week, we're
- 46:00Speaker 2: back in different places again. So this has been a delight.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Thanks for the cake pleasure.
- 46:07Speaker 5: Us.
- 46:07Speaker 2: About what makes red velvet red velt, I couldn't work
- 46:09Speaker 2: it out, so let us there's maybe it's there's vinegar.
- 46:13Speaker 2: There's definitely red dye in it, and sometimes be rejuice
- 46:16Speaker 2: for dyeing it. But I couldn't see anything. It's for me,
- 46:18Speaker 2: it's a different consistency of cake. There's something in there,
- 46:21Speaker 2: and I don't know what is, but I suspect one
- 46:23Speaker 2: of the dribblers will be able to tell us.
- 46:24Speaker 4: It's a bit oily or is it a bit?
- 46:27Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 46:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly is a good word.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, right.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Anyway, we don't actually care because none of us like it,
- 46:34Speaker 1: but we're interested, but we do want to know for future.
- 46:37Speaker 2: If only we had an Encyclopedia Britannica here that we can.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Look that was way before red velvet I think existed,
- 46:43Speaker 1: though that would have been Probably it'll become trendy recently,
- 46:47Speaker 1: hasn't it.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Just because it's trendy now doesn't mean it didn't exist.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Hey, are you going to give us some cocktails for
- 46:53Speaker 4: Wednesday night? She'll be working, but I'll be at home.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Okay, Look, can't we just use the same ones that
- 46:58Speaker 2: we use? I'll get some new ones?
- 47:00Speaker 4: Just one?
- 47:01Speaker 1: When do we get cocktails? I can have? When's that happening?
- 47:04Speaker 4: Well, we all know what happens when you have cocktails.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. This is why it needs to happen.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Alright.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I feel I feel like we're coming in for a
- 47:11Speaker 2: really weekending, So we need to finish now, and we
- 47:13Speaker 2: need to say thanks, dribblers, thanks for joining us again,
- 47:16Speaker 2: have a great week. I'm Carolin Swindell.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I'm cap Coox go the Diamonds tonight.
