- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hey what's up.
- 0:04Speaker 1: This is Tom Arnold and you're listening to tech Talk Radio.
- 0:07Speaker 2: They're really great and I love them.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Hey, how about a copy of Windows? Can we get
- 0:12Speaker 3: a laptop?
- 0:13Speaker 4: Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and we are
- 0:19Speaker 1: the show that talks about computers, technology and of course
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Internet and all the gag games and games and
- 0:26Speaker 1: game matter of fact. Coming up, We've got a great
- 0:28Speaker 1: guest that Sean told me about and he said, you
- 0:31Speaker 1: gotta talk.
- 0:32Speaker 4: We gotta talk to this guy.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You've met up at gen Con, which is a big
- 0:36Speaker 1: like it's a role playing conference. I mean four days
- 0:39Speaker 1: and four days of gaming, four days of gaming. Do
- 0:42Speaker 1: they have video games or.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It's very very very light on the video very very
- 0:46Speaker 2: light on the video games, if anything.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Games you use your imagination.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And board games, tabletop barbigs, card games, trading card games, collectibles, Yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 2: you name it.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Speaking of that, I gotta ask you. So last week
- 0:59Speaker 1: we talked to about Bubble Pop Origin. Did you get
- 1:03Speaker 1: started on it?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, Andy, I hold on, I'll tell you.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'll load it right I did say it's a little
- 1:13Speaker 1: addictive a little, but Bubble Prig is a Vailia.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You are a lie. You are a liar.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I am on level one hundred and fifty. Oh wow,
- 1:22Speaker 1: that's pretty good.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I've been playing it. It's incredibly addicting. So for those
- 1:28Speaker 2: of you who like these types of games, it's it's
- 1:30Speaker 2: a puzzle ish game, right. It is the perfect mix
- 1:35Speaker 2: between three games that I love, Pegel.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Pegel okay, Zuma Zuma all right, and Bejeweled.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Oh, Bejeweled. Yes.
- 1:43Speaker 2: If you take those three games and you mashed them
- 1:45Speaker 2: up and said make me a new game, you get
- 1:48Speaker 2: Bubble Pop. I can't. I can't tell you how Like,
- 1:52Speaker 2: I was like, it's another game. It's and you're like, no,
- 1:55Speaker 2: it's like Candy Crush, And I was like, okay, I
- 1:56Speaker 2: like Candy Crush. Now this game is a lot of fun.
- 2:01Speaker 3: It is.
- 2:02Speaker 1: However, I got to level three hundred and fifteen, and
- 2:07Speaker 1: you know, it's cool because you can play free. There's
- 2:09Speaker 1: only ads if you want to get extra lives, right,
- 2:12Speaker 1: you only buy Luke Crate if you want to, you know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: kind of get the extra benefit. I thought, I'm going
- 2:18Speaker 1: to play this Bubble Pop Origin without any of that,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and I got to level three fifteen pretty good, and
- 2:24Speaker 1: I did watch some ad.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I did watch some ads, so I will do that.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I had like two bubbles left and I could get
- 2:31Speaker 1: five points by watching some ads, and I did do that,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but I gave up on three point fifteen. I finally
- 2:38Speaker 1: said it's not it's not there's no way, so I
- 2:42Speaker 1: just said deep. So I removed it from my smart
- 2:45Speaker 1: device and I downloaded another Bubble Pop game.
- 2:48Speaker 2: So I could start all over. I mean, they're fun,
- 2:52Speaker 2: it is fun. It is fun again it you know,
- 2:55Speaker 2: it's one of those games where they make them purposely
- 2:58Speaker 2: frustrating so that they force you into trying to buy.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Oh you only have two bubbles left if you spend
- 3:04Speaker 2: a dollar ninety nine and you're missing the next level.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: So but I'm I mean, I don't have that type
- 3:11Speaker 2: of personality that's like I have to do it, I
- 3:13Speaker 2: have to win, so I don't spend money on it.
- 3:16Speaker 2: But I could see how it's predatory in that way
- 3:19Speaker 2: for people that are having adductive personality. But it is
- 3:23Speaker 2: fun and I'm trying to swipe through just to look
- 3:25Speaker 2: at it now.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But they'll get uh, they'll get compensated through the ads
- 3:29Speaker 1: that they run, you know, I yam yeah, a pretty
- 3:31Speaker 1: strong user base. And the other one I'm playing now
- 3:35Speaker 1: is also a.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Bubble pop game.
- 3:37Speaker 1: They're calling it Bubble Pop different developer, and I'm having
- 3:40Speaker 1: fun with it, and I figure, if I get to
- 3:42Speaker 1: that point, then I'll look for another one. Because there's
- 3:44Speaker 1: so many titles that are out there. As long as
- 3:47Speaker 1: you get them from your store, whether it be your
- 3:49Speaker 1: you know, Apple store or your play store, you should
- 3:52Speaker 1: be fairly safe.
- 3:53Speaker 4: But always check it out, do a little research on it.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The other thing I wanted to ask you, Sean, speaking
- 3:58Speaker 1: of games, did you get a chain to put together
- 4:00Speaker 1: the snap Circuit Socker shot?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Have not yet? I know, I know the World Cup's
- 4:05Speaker 2: coming up.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Yep.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Now that we're through with all the graduation stuff and
- 4:08Speaker 2: I'm free, like I'm not stretched out at work, I
- 4:12Speaker 2: will have time to sit with Max and build it.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Max.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Every time Max comes into the basement, he goes, what's
- 4:16Speaker 2: this got soccer ball on it? I want to put together?
- 4:19Speaker 4: No, it's big, it's a it's a bigger game than normally.
- 4:22Speaker 2: It's bigger and it's gonna be a little bit more complicated,
- 4:24Speaker 2: I think, but I'm excited to put together. I'm going
- 4:28Speaker 2: to and I will do it with Max and I'll
- 4:30Speaker 2: film it, record it and do a little time lapse
- 4:34Speaker 2: or show it when it's complete and show Max playing
- 4:36Speaker 2: with it, because it does look cool. So I do
- 4:40Speaker 2: have it, and I think if we push it down
- 4:42Speaker 2: the road just a little bit to get to the
- 4:44Speaker 2: World Cup, it'll have a little bit better of a
- 4:47Speaker 2: because the World Cup's coming up. So my friends are
- 4:49Speaker 2: going to the World Cup games because here it's here
- 4:51Speaker 2: in the US. Well it's here in North America, right,
- 4:53Speaker 2: so it's in Mexico, Mexico, US and Canada.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I will say this though, because I did a segment
- 4:59Speaker 1: on tel Vision about it and it was it was
- 5:02Speaker 1: cool and I started putting it together. The documentation is
- 5:06Speaker 1: not the best when you're trying to figure out redwire
- 5:09Speaker 1: goes here. And if for those listeners don't know snap circuits,
- 5:14Speaker 1: they're products they make.
- 5:15Speaker 4: They have so many great ones. There's no screws involved.
- 5:19Speaker 1: You know, you don't have to screw drive anything in,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you don't have to solder anything. The only outside part
- 5:24Speaker 1: is batteries. So this one uses three triple A batteries.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But it's like a soccer stadium and you could play
- 5:31Speaker 1: one on one with somebody. They can shoot a soccer
- 5:35Speaker 1: ball by putting it in the little spinnies and then
- 5:37Speaker 1: somebody has to be the goalie and block it from
- 5:40Speaker 1: going in.
- 5:41Speaker 4: But I will say the documentation was a little rough.
- 5:44Speaker 1: However, if you jump online and you get this on
- 5:48Speaker 1: the Alenco website for snap circuits, you'll be able to
- 5:51Speaker 1: see it step by step.
- 5:53Speaker 4: They do a step by step video. This cable goes here,
- 5:55Speaker 4: this one goes there. I'd recommend that, hopefully I don't
- 5:59Speaker 4: get too frustrated by I was getting there.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Oh what.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Do you think a four year old could do it?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yeah, And I was like I was scratching my head
- 6:09Speaker 1: the whole bit. So yeah, no, that was that was
- 6:11Speaker 1: kind of scary. But that'll be cool once you Once
- 6:14Speaker 1: you get into that, that'll be a lot of fun.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I did get something in this week and it was
- 6:19Speaker 4: really weird.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Seohn.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Normally my buddies at AESUS when they they have something new,
- 6:25Speaker 1: they'll tell me, hey, we got something. You know, you
- 6:27Speaker 1: want to take a look at it, And I'll say,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you know, cool. I was sitting outside on the front porch,
- 6:34Speaker 1: just enjoying the sunshine and the wind, and suddenly there's
- 6:38Speaker 1: a UPS guy there with a gigantic box or FedEx
- 6:42Speaker 1: anyway either way, and I'm like, what's this?
- 6:44Speaker 4: But I could tell. I mean, this was a huge box.
- 6:48Speaker 4: It was from Aesus.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So I brought it in and I'm thinking, going through
- 6:51Speaker 1: my email, No, he didn't send me anything to say
- 6:54Speaker 1: what they're going to send me, So I'm thinking, this
- 6:57Speaker 1: is cool, right, So I did unboxing video, but I
- 7:01Speaker 1: didn't like it, so I went ahead and just featured
- 7:03Speaker 1: it on YouTube. You can find on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook,
- 7:09Speaker 1: But it is this is what I got, and I'll
- 7:12Speaker 1: show you Sean. The Asus zen Book A sixteen Now
- 7:18Speaker 1: is I mean it?
- 7:19Speaker 2: Look? Look how thin this is? It's I mean like
- 7:22Speaker 2: it looks like a MacBook Air.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's And a lot of people are comparing it
- 7:26Speaker 1: to the MacBook Air. It's a sixteen inch three K
- 7:29Speaker 1: OLED screen, which is great. It has a lit keyboard,
- 7:34Speaker 1: which is also great.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Which the MacBook Neo does not have. If it doesn't,
- 7:38Speaker 2: does it?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Oh, but it also has a seventy one hour battery inside.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Some reports are saying you could expect twenty one hours,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but again, depending on your use, it might be more
- 7:51Speaker 1: like fourteen or fifteen. It comes with a massive one
- 7:55Speaker 1: hundred and thirty watt charger, which is great, pretty big.
- 8:00Speaker 4: It's pretty good port wise.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I wish it'd had more ports, but I think we
- 8:03Speaker 1: all kind of wish that it has two USB c's.
- 8:07Speaker 1: It's got HDMI, it's got a headphone jack. A lot
- 8:10Speaker 1: of people like that, and then on the other side
- 8:12Speaker 1: it's got USB.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Three or either way.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's pretty amazing, very fast. It's a
- 8:19Speaker 1: snap Dragon x two. That is the processor that AS
- 8:24Speaker 1: is using with their their own NPUs, So it has
- 8:29Speaker 1: an eighty NPU that's part of it, so you can
- 8:32Speaker 1: do basically co pilot or any other they have a
- 8:36Speaker 1: SUES also has its own AI programs that are a
- 8:38Speaker 1: part of it. But again, I just love just how
- 8:41Speaker 1: thin it is and how light it is, and a
- 8:43Speaker 1: lot of comparisons between the MacBook Air.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah it looks it looks really nice. And you said
- 8:48Speaker 2: as a three K LED screen, Yeah, O led o
- 8:52Speaker 2: led that's nice. Do you know what it retails for.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the hard part.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Oh, it retails for some some are saying sixteen ninety nine,
- 9:03Speaker 1: but from Asus twenty one ninety nine.
- 9:06Speaker 4: So but if you're looking and it comes with forty
- 9:08Speaker 4: eight gigs of.
- 9:09Speaker 1: RAM ok okay, okay, pretty good one terabyte hard drive.
- 9:14Speaker 1: So I mean, if you're, you know, looking for a
- 9:17Speaker 1: system that could do it all, this one may be
- 9:19Speaker 1: able to do.
- 9:19Speaker 2: It, which is good.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Also as a pretty powerful I believe gaming video processor.
- 9:25Speaker 1: That's a part of it as well. So something to
- 9:28Speaker 1: check out. But again, yeah, a little pricey.
- 9:31Speaker 2: The life you live Andy, when ups strops you have
- 9:33Speaker 2: something you don't even expect.
- 9:34Speaker 1: It wasn't even expecting it, and I haven't even reached
- 9:36Speaker 1: out to him say hey did a video and I'm
- 9:38Speaker 1: gonna show it on TV next week. So it's uh's grainy,
- 9:42Speaker 1: But yeah, it's that is pretty cool cool. I know
- 9:45Speaker 1: I'll have to send it back, but still makes it
- 9:48Speaker 1: pretty neat. I'm very happy with it. Oh one hundred
- 9:52Speaker 1: and twenty one hundred and twenty hers refresh rate as well.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Great.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Have you heard anything about WWDC.
- 9:59Speaker 2: That's I've not. I know that one of my coworkers
- 10:02Speaker 2: is going. His brother does development and they get to
- 10:06Speaker 2: go every time, so he'll be going to whatever they
- 10:10Speaker 2: have out in San Francisco for that.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So WWDC for our listeners, is the Apple puts it on.
- 10:16Speaker 1: It's their Worldwide Developers Conference. Yeah, they got the the
- 10:20Speaker 1: dates down for June eighth through the twelfth of keynote
- 10:24Speaker 1: State of the Union platform. When it comes to Apple products,
- 10:28Speaker 1: they're going to be talking about AI and advancements. So
- 10:31Speaker 1: and a lot of people say, well, Apples just forgotten
- 10:34Speaker 1: about AI. It'll be interesting to see if they come
- 10:36Speaker 1: up with something that is just oh, that's something new
- 10:40Speaker 1: that that could be good if they do, because a
- 10:43Speaker 1: lot of people are looking for that now.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean it's becoming so ingrainded in everybody's life.
- 10:47Speaker 2: They're kind of accepting that it's going to be everywhere.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So now that it is, more companies are probably going
- 10:53Speaker 2: to just adopt it, hopefully not do it as poorly
- 10:57Speaker 2: as Windows has with Copilot and reco call and all
- 11:00Speaker 2: that stuff. It's just again, we're a weird spot with AI,
- 11:03Speaker 2: where yeah, it's just weird. We're a weird spot, man,
- 11:07Speaker 2: I don't know how to say it right right.
- 11:11Speaker 1: This week also opened well yesterday at showtime yesterday, Mandalorian
- 11:16Speaker 1: and Grogu are you planning to see that Thursday night
- 11:20Speaker 1: as you're going into like an advanced screening.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I'm going to Thursday night screening with a couple co workers.
- 11:26Speaker 2: It comes out Friday, whatever the day Friday is. Yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 2: but one of my coworkers said, hey, they're showing it
- 11:32Speaker 2: at this time on Thursday night. So I'm excited to
- 11:35Speaker 2: see it.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I have.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I've heard good and bad things, of course, I mean,
- 11:39Speaker 2: everybody's discopter.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Anything bad about it yet, so.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, we'll see.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Grogu adds that kind of cuteness to it.
- 11:47Speaker 2: You know, there's one right over my shoulder. You can
- 11:49Speaker 2: see it on my couch right there.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Oh, look at that.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Max will come down here and rearrange these, so I
- 11:56Speaker 2: never know what I leave them where he puts them,
- 11:59Speaker 2: so you never know what you're gonna get back down
- 12:01Speaker 2: on the couch.
- 12:02Speaker 1: So well, you mentioned, you know copilot, and I don't
- 12:06Speaker 1: know if you are on a laptop or a desktop
- 12:09Speaker 1: that is running you know Windows eleven. Uh do you
- 12:13Speaker 1: prefer to if you have to use AI? Will you
- 12:15Speaker 1: go to chat, GPT or anthropic or do you just
- 12:19Speaker 1: go ahead and use the integrated copilot?
- 12:21Speaker 2: The only two AI models I have used on purpose
- 12:25Speaker 2: are chat GIPT and so no, those the only two.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I just I don't. I don't do enough. I don't
- 12:33Speaker 2: vibe code.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I don't.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I mean I don't. I don't do enough to warrant
- 12:37Speaker 2: chat GPT, to use chat GPT for a lot of stuff.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And occasionally, and more often than not, with the stuff
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm doing is so specific to a piece of hardware
- 12:47Speaker 2: from a vendor that it gets it wrong. So and
- 12:51Speaker 2: I don't and I'm not going to correct it. I'm
- 12:55Speaker 2: not gonna. I'm not gonna spend my time correcting their
- 12:57Speaker 2: model like you're not paying me. I'm paying you like
- 13:03Speaker 2: I get it, and I get it can scrape the
- 13:05Speaker 2: entirety of the Internet, but not everything on the Internet
- 13:08Speaker 2: is correct.
- 13:09Speaker 1: So I mean, yeah, double check, I mean I I yeah,
- 13:13Speaker 1: for sure. Stuff with Gemini. If I'm doing something real
- 13:16Speaker 1: quick and I just need a bit of information, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: I'll go, wait a minute, that doesn't sound one hundred percent,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and I will correct it and tell it no, no, this
- 13:26Speaker 1: is the information, and it will say, oh, thank you,
- 13:29Speaker 1: And does it update their database?
- 13:31Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, I don't know, idea, but.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not gonna correct it. If it's wrong,
- 13:35Speaker 2: it's wrong. It's gonna be wrong for everybody else till
- 13:37Speaker 2: somebody else decides to spend their hard earned energy on
- 13:41Speaker 2: correcting a multi gazillion pajillion dollar company or whatever they're worth.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Now, yeah, because when they when they take over the world,
- 13:49Speaker 1: you don't want them company.
- 13:50Speaker 4: You're going you kept correcting me, Yeah, right right.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I'm not one of those people that says thank you
- 13:57Speaker 2: every time either, because I know that people have the
- 14:00Speaker 2: theory that well, if you thank your AI every time,
- 14:03Speaker 2: when they do take over, they're gonna be like, you
- 14:05Speaker 2: thanked me.
- 14:06Speaker 3: So I'm not.
- 14:07Speaker 2: You're you're spared because you are thanking me. It doesn't care.
- 14:11Speaker 1: But that's you know, one of the ways to get
- 14:12Speaker 1: more people to use the AI is by giving them
- 14:16Speaker 1: kind of a personal like you know, oh that's great,
- 14:19Speaker 1: or a great idea, or give you some kind of
- 14:21Speaker 1: reinforcement so that way you feel like that bond with there.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And a lot of people don't understand that, but that's
- 14:26Speaker 1: exactly what it's programmed to do, right, Yeah, all right,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I've got to listen a question and from Dave, and
- 14:32Speaker 1: I don't know how you feel about this one, but
- 14:35Speaker 1: it says, hey, guys, there are so many different Blue
- 14:37Speaker 1: Tooth speakers on the market. If the's some better than others,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and that's dave. I mean, yeah, you yes, you could
- 14:48Speaker 1: go to a discount store and I mean I've seen
- 14:51Speaker 1: them in Dollar Tree and buy a Bluetooth speaker.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah you know, yeah, yes there are. You get what
- 14:59Speaker 2: you you pay for. Let's put it that way. If
- 15:02Speaker 2: you go to a Dollar Tree, dollar General, dollar whatever, right,
- 15:07Speaker 2: you're gonna get a dollar's worth of crappy audio. The
- 15:10Speaker 2: fidelity is not gonna be great, the battery is gonna suck.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Might not even have a battery in it at all,
- 15:15Speaker 2: might be powered, yeah, might not have a good range,
- 15:18Speaker 2: might not might have awful range. I have had really
- 15:22Speaker 2: really good success with JBL wireless speakers. I'm actually I
- 15:27Speaker 2: have one sitting right here in front of my desk.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I have a mobile, I have an UP, I have
- 15:30Speaker 2: to actually I have the JBL Clip three and the
- 15:34Speaker 2: JB the JBL Something five.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I have the JBL Clip as well, and it puts
- 15:41Speaker 1: out great sound and it's nice because you know, if
- 15:43Speaker 1: you're out the outdoors, you can hang it, you know,
- 15:46Speaker 1: on the side of the barbiekee. Well, I don't know
- 15:47Speaker 1: if I do that, but you can hang it on
- 15:49Speaker 1: a table or a clip outside.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And it's it's rated I P eighty six, so you
- 15:54Speaker 2: can dunk it if you if it dunked on accident,
- 15:57Speaker 2: it's not gonna get completely destroyed.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:00Speaker 2: What I do like about the jbls is you can
- 16:02Speaker 2: run them while they're plugged in. So I run them.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I use them for my like I have this this
- 16:09Speaker 2: the JBL flip five, I think that's what I have.
- 16:12Speaker 2: It's a little red one. It's about seven inches long,
- 16:17Speaker 2: and I use it for listening to my computer. Like
- 16:21Speaker 2: I'll flip it over so I can just hear it
- 16:22Speaker 2: out of that speaker Bluetooth, right, and I don't want
- 16:25Speaker 2: to have to clutter my desk with a whole nother
- 16:27Speaker 2: you know, wire it and plug it in. And then
- 16:29Speaker 2: I use sound switch, which is an application you can
- 16:31Speaker 2: get for your computer, tied into my stream deck, and
- 16:34Speaker 2: I can just switch back and forth between this mic,
- 16:37Speaker 2: my headset mic those that speaker, the headset speakers, the clip,
- 16:42Speaker 2: and I can I can quickly change those arounds. So
- 16:44Speaker 2: now for but then I can also take it and
- 16:46Speaker 2: move it to my laptop. So if I go up
- 16:48Speaker 2: to edit or something, or I could take will go
- 16:50Speaker 2: on a trip and the boys want to watch a
- 16:53Speaker 2: movie on the iPad and the the you know, the
- 16:55Speaker 2: iPad doesn't have the greatest speakers in it, and we
- 16:58Speaker 2: can just toss it connected Bluetooth boot boot boom connect done.
- 17:02Speaker 2: It's planned so very portable. The battery life is great.
- 17:06Speaker 2: So that's JBL Pioneer makes a bunch of good ones.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Anchor makes a few. There are the big brands, the
- 17:15Speaker 2: big audio brands that you trust. Bo's JBL Pioneer. Those
- 17:20Speaker 2: are going to have good quality, long lasting, high fidelity
- 17:26Speaker 2: Balluetooth speakers.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Now, for for Dave and Tucson, if he wanted to have,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know, a speaker, but also have it so that
- 17:35Speaker 1: it has the ability to take a phone call, it
- 17:39Speaker 1: would be able to be able to interact with the clip.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I don't know if I've ever tried that, but the
- 17:43Speaker 1: clip you should we should be able to take a
- 17:45Speaker 1: phone call and they'd be able to hear us.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Right, I would. I don't know the answer to that,
- 17:50Speaker 2: but there are some that do have a microphone in them.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Just don't expect a great sounding microphone, right, Yeah, people
- 17:59Speaker 2: don't really that. The smaller the microphone, the more compressed
- 18:02Speaker 2: it has to get right. And it's like, if you
- 18:04Speaker 2: try and jam it into a Bluetooth speaker, for one,
- 18:06Speaker 2: you're compressing it. It's getting compressed to Bluetooth, so it's
- 18:10Speaker 2: gonna sound like a Bluetooth speaker. It will work, it
- 18:13Speaker 2: will sound okay, but it's not gonna be the same
- 18:16Speaker 2: quality as of your actual phone headset or a wired
- 18:20Speaker 2: headset of some sort.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But yeah, here's a good question that I saw on
- 18:25Speaker 1: threads and I don't know if do you use threads
- 18:27Speaker 1: at all? Sean, No, that's the Instagram kind of their
- 18:30Speaker 1: version of Twitter or x. What's one piece of old
- 18:35Speaker 1: tech you refuse to give up? Is there one thing
- 18:42Speaker 1: that you've said?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Now?
- 18:43Speaker 1: One thing I have and I'm just not giving up
- 18:46Speaker 1: because nobody wants it is the original Diamond Rio MP
- 18:49Speaker 1: three player, which actually came out before the iPod and
- 18:54Speaker 1: you could play MP three's on it, and I still
- 18:56Speaker 1: have it. Diamond gave it to me back in the
- 19:00Speaker 1: early nineties and just held onto it and I still
- 19:04Speaker 1: have it.
- 19:05Speaker 4: It runs on one I think.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Uh double a battery and you know it would be
- 19:10Speaker 1: just a matter of putting the stuff on a card
- 19:13Speaker 1: and putting it in the device.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I mean, it still works. That's a really good question.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I don't know the answer to that, because.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Man, if people were saying, like MP three players, yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 1: wired headphones, because I've.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Got I've got my old I've got an old Sony
- 19:30Speaker 2: walk Yeah, walkman, I've got a old Sony Walkman, I've
- 19:33Speaker 2: still got I've got an old Sony CD player. I've
- 19:36Speaker 2: still got. I'm a digital I I'm a technology hoarder. Andy,
- 19:40Speaker 2: that's a hard question. I don't give. I don't like
- 19:42Speaker 2: to get rid of anything.
- 19:46Speaker 1: How about keyboards, because many people now are using wireless keyboards,
- 19:50Speaker 1: but an old physical keyboard, I mean, you can't go
- 19:52Speaker 1: too far back because the connectors were a little different.
- 19:54Speaker 2: That's a hard question, Andy, I have too many. I've
- 20:00Speaker 2: got mechanical I've got uh the whatever, the membrane ones,
- 20:06Speaker 2: I've got the butterfly keys, I've got I've got ones
- 20:10Speaker 2: that require a P two PS two port or a
- 20:13Speaker 2: P two sort whatever they call that port anymore. I
- 20:15Speaker 2: can't even it's called. I've got mice that have balls
- 20:18Speaker 2: in them, Like, I mean, I've got you I still
- 20:23Speaker 2: have a mouse with a.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Ball in it.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's a two. Yeah, I've got.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Man.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I would say though, like if a piece of old
- 20:33Speaker 2: technology I don't even call it's not even that old
- 20:38Speaker 2: that I use on a day to day basis right.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I've got my Hero the Hero three plus for my camera.
- 20:43Speaker 3: There you go.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got my old game Boy that I still play.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I've got I mean, I've got old tech that just
- 20:50Speaker 2: serves a purpose.
- 20:51Speaker 4: How about a desktop PC?
- 20:53Speaker 1: A lot of people, a lot of people do this
- 20:55Speaker 1: to go, I don't know what to do with my
- 20:56Speaker 1: PC because you know, they they went and bought a
- 20:58Speaker 1: new Dell, or they bought a system they don't know
- 21:01Speaker 1: what to do with.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Here is my address you can send it to. I mean,
- 21:07Speaker 2: we live in it. It's weird, right. I feel like
- 21:12Speaker 2: only people that play video games on computers have desktop
- 21:15Speaker 2: computers anymore. If you're not playing video games, why do
- 21:18Speaker 2: you have a desktop? Yeah, nobody buys a desktop anymore
- 21:22Speaker 2: because everybody wants to be mobile. Everybody can do what
- 21:25Speaker 2: they need to do on their phones. They're not doing
- 21:27Speaker 2: word processing.
- 21:28Speaker 1: A serious gamer will get the you know that has
- 21:31Speaker 1: maybe not have to worry about spending too much money.
- 21:34Speaker 1: They will put together like the highest end graphics card
- 21:37Speaker 1: for now, and you know, play games on their computer.
- 21:41Speaker 1: But more people I guess are playing among consoles right, not.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Necessary consoles, but just not playing or streaming them from
- 21:50Speaker 2: their Xbox or you know a lot of console players still.
- 21:54Speaker 2: But Steam decks are a big thing. The ross the
- 21:59Speaker 2: act the access ally or whatever it's called, the other
- 22:04Speaker 2: a couple other handheld devices out there that play PC
- 22:07Speaker 2: games through the Steam Library. So being mobile and having
- 22:13Speaker 2: longevity are the big key factors there, right, So you're
- 22:16Speaker 2: seeing again most people had desktops in their homes to
- 22:20Speaker 2: do email and processing email and work processing. That was like,
- 22:23Speaker 2: that was it. That's all my grandparents did on it.
- 22:27Speaker 2: And my dad just plays free Cell on his desktop.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Free Cell was great though, so he doesn't even do
- 22:32Speaker 2: that anymore. He plays it on his iPad. I mean,
- 22:36Speaker 2: desktop computers aren't going away, but they're not as prominent anymore.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I'm kind of wondering what's the oldest
- 22:48Speaker 1: os that you have that you could still fire up
- 22:50Speaker 1: today and run.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Something that's currently installed.
- 22:56Speaker 1: On a tower, or or that you can actually hit
- 23:01Speaker 1: the button and run it. If you wanted to because
- 23:02Speaker 1: my daughter, my daughter wanted me to buy because I
- 23:06Speaker 1: have tons of cases. She's like, could you believe build me?
- 23:09Speaker 1: You know, Windows ninety five so I could play you
- 23:12Speaker 1: know what is a game with two motorcycles and you
- 23:16Speaker 1: you fought each other as you were going down the road,
- 23:18Speaker 1: which that was real friendly Redneck rampage and some of those.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah, there was one that Rednick ram Page was one
- 23:25Speaker 2: of them.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Speed. Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Some of those older games. Uh, there's there's the motorcycle
- 23:32Speaker 2: one that's gonna escape me but has to do with chains.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I can't remember that one, but I believe currently right
- 23:39Speaker 2: now the oldest one that I have would boot would
- 23:41Speaker 2: be Windows XP XP.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I do have a bill I don't think it would
- 23:48Speaker 2: come on right now that has Windows ninety five. I've
- 23:52Speaker 2: got at least a hard drive and a mother board
- 23:54Speaker 2: put in a case, right that would run Windows ninety five,
- 23:57Speaker 2: and another one that run Windows ninety eight, right, Because
- 24:01Speaker 2: I do believe at one point you guys channels mead
- 24:03Speaker 2: to build a Windows aty eight, build and see if
- 24:05Speaker 2: we can get it and get on the show with it,
- 24:06Speaker 2: which I still would like to try and do. But
- 24:09Speaker 2: how about Doss. I haven't built a Doss.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Machine in a very long time, yes, which you know
- 24:15Speaker 4: was cool.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean growing up we had Doss base. I
- 24:18Speaker 2: had Doss based computers, right, and then we went and
- 24:22Speaker 2: then it was Windows street point one and then you
- 24:25Speaker 2: know the evolution of Windows from there.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I remember the original flight simulator which was it wasn't Microsoft,
- 24:32Speaker 1: it was a different company.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Uh.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I remember my mom's boss had me over for
- 24:38Speaker 1: lunch one day. We were just you know, talking about things,
- 24:40Speaker 1: and it was showing me his flight sim on his
- 24:43Speaker 1: Doss computer.
- 24:44Speaker 4: You know, remember the yellow screen and of its just but.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Then he said, if somebody comes in and he don't
- 24:50Speaker 1: want them to see see that you're not working, he
- 24:52Speaker 1: hits a key and a spreadsheet comes up.
- 24:56Speaker 2: That's the tails all his time, because that's that was
- 24:58Speaker 2: the thing that was very that's popular for every generation
- 25:02Speaker 2: that has one of those. Yeah, you gotta hit the
- 25:04Speaker 2: F the F nine key. We'll bring up a spreadsheet
- 25:07Speaker 2: that I was working on.
- 25:08Speaker 1: All right, Listen, we have a special guest standing back,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and this is somebody that you've met, and they just
- 25:15Speaker 1: kicked off a I guess you could say, what a
- 25:19Speaker 1: kickstarter and it's for something that you have that you.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Want everybody to know about. So yes, our guest. His
- 25:26Speaker 2: name is Brent Critchfield. He is the owner of a
- 25:30Speaker 2: company called Studio Woe, which is a gaming company. He
- 25:35Speaker 2: has created a He created a game called Gruff back
- 25:38Speaker 2: in the mid two thousands, which I got to play
- 25:41Speaker 2: at gen Con and then kickstarted and have been playing it.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And I met him at gen Con when we're doing
- 25:48Speaker 2: his game, and we've kind of just remained connected over
- 25:50Speaker 2: the years. Stop by his booth every year, and I
- 25:53Speaker 2: think three years ago now, we stopped by his booth
- 25:57Speaker 2: and he's like, oh, you guys are here. This is great.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I want I'll show you this new thing we're working on.
- 26:01Speaker 2: And he hands me this tin and if you're watching
- 26:03Speaker 2: the video, look just like this. Hands me this tin.
- 26:05Speaker 2: He goes open this and smell it. I'm like what.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I open it up and I don't remember what scent
- 26:11Speaker 2: it was at the time, and I smell and I
- 26:13Speaker 2: was like WHOA.
- 26:14Speaker 4: I was like, man, it's like so it's scented gaming dice.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 2: So it's called Barren Smelly Bones scented dice. It's a
- 26:23Speaker 2: set of infused dice with a different sense. So like
- 26:28Speaker 2: this one's called Dark Brows Ritual, so it smells like coffee.
- 26:31Speaker 2: This one is called Healer's Balm, so it smells like
- 26:33Speaker 2: fresh linen and floral. But he's kicking off a new
- 26:37Speaker 2: kickstarter and we'll talk to him after the break about
- 26:40Speaker 2: that new kickstarter and the process behind how he got
- 26:43Speaker 2: to creating scented dice.
- 26:46Speaker 4: That is standing by.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean to where you can find
- 26:49Speaker 2: us on the web at tech talk radio dot com.
- 26:51Speaker 2: We'll be right back now back to tech talk Radio. WHOA,
- 26:56Speaker 2: we have an episode for you today And I called
- 26:59Speaker 2: Andy this morning with this idea and he gave me
- 27:01Speaker 2: the green light and we set it up in motion.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Well, I know you're pretty passionate about gaming, which I
- 27:07Speaker 1: think is pretty cool, and you know, you've talked about it,
- 27:10Speaker 1: and then I've had people that I've run into, you know,
- 27:12Speaker 1: at station events, that have said, Hey, what was that
- 27:15Speaker 1: game that a guy Sean was talking about? So, yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 1: it's cool because people want to get into it, they
- 27:20Speaker 1: just don't know how, you know.
- 27:22Speaker 2: So gen Con is a show that I go to
- 27:25Speaker 2: every year in Indianapolis. It's the best four days of gaming.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Is they dub it and over a decade ago, which
- 27:32Speaker 2: is hard to believe. Brent, by the way, we have
- 27:34Speaker 2: a guest with us. His name is Brent Crinchfield. I
- 27:37Speaker 2: met Brent. I met Brent at gen Con in twenty
- 27:41Speaker 2: fourteen or twenty fifteen when he we demoed his game
- 27:45Speaker 2: called Gruff, which is an amazing two player an amazing
- 27:49Speaker 2: two player game where you played goats that are hybrid goats,
- 27:53Speaker 2: and it's an incredible game. It's called Gruff. It's really fun.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I was doing all my gen Con stuff this past
- 27:59Speaker 2: weekend because is coming up, getting all my tickets and stuff,
- 28:03Speaker 2: and then I got a notification for a kickstarter for
- 28:06Speaker 2: Brent's new dice, smelly dice.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Waits, is it smelly or scented?
- 28:13Speaker 3: There?
- 28:15Speaker 5: It's called Barren Smelly Bone scented dice. But so the
- 28:19Speaker 5: dice that is smelly, then they're probably my So I'm fan.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I'm fan growing a little bit here. But two years
- 28:26Speaker 2: ago at gen Con we went by. We stopped by
- 28:28Speaker 2: his booth every year just to say hello, see what
- 28:31Speaker 2: he's got, Bruin, And he's like, hey, check these out.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I've got these scented dice and he handed them to me,
- 28:35Speaker 2: and I couldn't believe how good they smelled. For one uh,
- 28:41Speaker 2: and then I immediately bought some, of course. And now
- 28:44Speaker 2: he's during a kickstarter for some five new scents yep
- 28:48Speaker 2: that you guys are launching called the Mystic Magic. Is
- 28:51Speaker 2: that correct?
- 28:52Speaker 5: It's the Wild Magic Scented Dice. I was like thinking
- 28:55Speaker 5: about the like, I don't know if you're familiar with
- 28:58Speaker 5: dungeons and dragons, but but you have different magic spells
- 29:01Speaker 5: that you can cast, and they come from different schools
- 29:03Speaker 5: of magic, and so I was thinking about, like if
- 29:05Speaker 5: you were gonna charm someone, or chance someone casts a
- 29:07Speaker 5: spell on them, what would that smell like? Versus like
- 29:10Speaker 5: if you got to throw a lightning bolt at someone,
- 29:12Speaker 5: what does that smell like?
- 29:13Speaker 3: And you know if.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Wow, oh that's kind of cool. So you've tied that
- 29:16Speaker 1: all into the game.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there's the two that I got
- 29:21Speaker 2: and these. One of these ones for Caitlin was there's
- 29:24Speaker 2: a dark Roast ritual. So it's like if you're brewing
- 29:26Speaker 2: coffee yep. And I mean you open these up and
- 29:29Speaker 2: I've had these in the container, but you smell them
- 29:32Speaker 2: and it's it's coffee it's or you have roasted char
- 29:36Speaker 2: which is like a fireball. You've got grass, a grassy
- 29:40Speaker 2: smelling one for grass, and tell me about some of
- 29:43Speaker 2: the new smells that are coming with.
- 29:45Speaker 5: So actually the coffee and the grass, this is the
- 29:47Speaker 5: first time they're going to be available on Kickstarter. They're
- 29:50Speaker 5: going to be like primary add ons on them. So
- 29:52Speaker 5: that's two of them. And then then we have this one.
- 29:55Speaker 5: This is Glacial Blast and uh it's like a like
- 29:58Speaker 5: a winter mint, so for like when you're like freezing
- 30:01Speaker 5: people with your ice spells and dungeons and dragons, you
- 30:04Speaker 5: can roll your your icy ones. And then this is
- 30:07Speaker 5: the lightning Bolt one. This is uh called tempest Evocation
- 30:11Speaker 5: and it's it's it's weird. It's like like kind of
- 30:14Speaker 5: that like ozone smell that you smell right before a thunderstorm. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 30:19Speaker 5: So it's kind of like that ocean breeze kind of
- 30:21Speaker 5: electric smell.
- 30:22Speaker 3: And then this one.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Is uh called Lavender Enchantment, and it's it's very cozy,
- 30:29Speaker 5: it's like lavender. It's got magnolia notes to soften it
- 30:32Speaker 5: up a little bit, and yeah, it's it's really cool.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Now, the idea for this I mean, it's it's it's
- 30:40Speaker 1: funny because you know, I know people that played a
- 30:42Speaker 1: Dungeon of Dragons of course Sean and then Traveler and
- 30:45Speaker 1: some of the other games, you know, with the dice,
- 30:47Speaker 1: they were always just like kind of an accessory, you know,
- 30:50Speaker 1: your roll the ice, check the you know, check the
- 30:53Speaker 1: number out and whatnot. What made you decide, you know what,
- 30:57Speaker 1: let's make the device a part of the game other
- 31:00Speaker 1: than just what the score is going to be.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Well, people put a lot of time and attention into
- 31:05Speaker 5: their character inside of Dungeons and Dragons, like they draw
- 31:08Speaker 5: their pictures, they write their backstories, and I was thinking
- 31:12Speaker 5: about it in terms of, like how can you add
- 31:15Speaker 5: a layer of customization inside of the space of Dungeons
- 31:19Speaker 5: and Dragons, like and what better way to do this?
- 31:21Speaker 5: Because smell is so connected to memory, like it immediately
- 31:25Speaker 5: brings you back into those moments, and so that kind
- 31:28Speaker 5: of like drives my vision of how to do it.
- 31:30Speaker 5: But if you want to know about, like what the
- 31:32Speaker 5: genesis of the idea was my partner of Virginia and
- 31:38Speaker 5: my wife, she was having she had a dream that
- 31:42Speaker 5: she was playing Dungeons and Dragons with do you know
- 31:46Speaker 5: critical role. It's like a podcast about dungeons and dragons.
- 31:49Speaker 5: She was playing D and D with those guys and
- 31:51Speaker 5: they pulled out their dice in between turns and Lim
- 31:54Speaker 5: O'Brien's dice smelled like ice cream. And she had this
- 31:57Speaker 5: dream like three nights in a row, and I was like,
- 32:01Speaker 5: we should just do this, Like why hasn't somebody done this?
- 32:05Speaker 5: And so I had already like made gruffin so I
- 32:07Speaker 5: knew a little bit about manufacturing and all this stuff,
- 32:10Speaker 5: and so I called up all these people in manufacturing
- 32:12Speaker 5: that I knew and realized, like, oh, the reason why
- 32:15Speaker 5: no one's done this is that it's extremely hard. And
- 32:19Speaker 5: it took me like two years of like prototypes and
- 32:22Speaker 5: failures and like different ideas, and it was it was
- 32:26Speaker 5: during like it was during the pandemic, and I had
- 32:29Speaker 5: kind of set it aside because like nothing would work
- 32:32Speaker 5: either either it would smell like garbage for a really
- 32:34Speaker 5: long time, or it would smell good, but it would
- 32:36Speaker 5: they it would last so short that by the time
- 32:39Speaker 5: they mailed the samples to me from the factory, it
- 32:42Speaker 5: was gone. And it was literally a shower thought. It
- 32:44Speaker 5: was in the shower, and I was like lathering myself
- 32:46Speaker 5: up and I was thinking like, oh man, what if
- 32:48Speaker 5: I it's too bad? I just can't do it this way.
- 32:51Speaker 5: And then I was like, oh wait, like why can't
- 32:53Speaker 5: I do it that way? And so did a prototype
- 32:56Speaker 5: and it worked finally, like it's like the fiftieth prototype,
- 32:59Speaker 5: but it worked.
- 33:01Speaker 2: So the year you first brought them to gen Con
- 33:03Speaker 2: and we sat by your booth, I could see how
- 33:06Speaker 2: excited you were when you're like, oh my god, it's
- 33:08Speaker 2: you guys. You gotta see this, you gotta come see this.
- 33:10Speaker 2: And you showed us the dice, and you have smelled.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I could not believe. I believe. The first one I
- 33:15Speaker 2: smelled was the fireball one, which smells like a fireplace. Yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 2: and like the burning fire. I couldn't believe how good
- 33:20Speaker 2: they smelled. And I was like, give me whatever, I
- 33:24Speaker 2: got to buy them all. So how well was it
- 33:28Speaker 2: received when you finally brought it out into the public.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I know that every year at gen Con says you've
- 33:32Speaker 2: brought them. They've been a huge hit.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Last year sold out of like the coffee dice were
- 33:40Speaker 5: sold out on like day one, So yeah, sold out
- 33:43Speaker 5: of a lot of stuff.
- 33:44Speaker 3: How they've been received extremely well.
- 33:46Speaker 5: The one thing that people ask me is is like
- 33:49Speaker 5: how long do they last? Because they want to be
- 33:52Speaker 5: sure that this isn't some sort of skim because like
- 33:54Speaker 5: it's like, oh yeah, like it's smell, but it's like
- 33:56Speaker 5: a scratching, stiff thing and it'll go away in a
- 33:58Speaker 5: couple of days. And like I tell them, like, no,
- 34:01Speaker 5: like it made my first prototype five years ago, still
- 34:04Speaker 5: going strong.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Uh so, uh yeah, the last for years and years.
- 34:08Speaker 5: You just need to you know, store them in their
- 34:09Speaker 5: little tin when you're done playing with them, and it
- 34:12Speaker 5: keeps them fresh.
- 34:13Speaker 2: How's the set? How well?
- 34:14Speaker 4: How's the process been?
- 34:16Speaker 1: You know, taking a product and saying because you could
- 34:19Speaker 1: either you know, ship it to gaming stores if they
- 34:21Speaker 1: have it, you know, popping onto Amazon, but actually doing
- 34:24Speaker 1: a Kickstarter that helps you mass produce like your vision, right.
- 34:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, And we are in retail stores now and
- 34:34Speaker 5: and getting a much broader imprint of it in like
- 34:39Speaker 5: big national chains and and and uh and even internationally
- 34:43Speaker 5: at this point. But Kickstarter does like really magical things
- 34:47Speaker 5: when it comes to giving you the leverage to to
- 34:51Speaker 5: like just do the manufacturing run that's necessary to kind
- 34:53Speaker 5: of get that sort of reach because it's it's extraordinarily
- 34:57Speaker 5: expensive to print the these things, and so it's really
- 35:02Speaker 5: kind of a wonderful thing from the Internet, the ability
- 35:05Speaker 5: to kind of reach people directly that way.
- 35:07Speaker 2: One of the things that I've thought about too, and
- 35:09Speaker 2: I've I've played with these and my wife has played
- 35:11Speaker 2: with them too, is how well they play, how good
- 35:14Speaker 2: they smell, but how they don't leave any residue on
- 35:17Speaker 2: the table?
- 35:18Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:18Speaker 2: Can you can you talk? I mean, is that was
- 35:20Speaker 2: that a Bay concern?
- 35:21Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 35:23Speaker 2: Did you? Did you have some protypes that just wear
- 35:24Speaker 2: a mask?
- 35:26Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I uh, well, because it's important because if
- 35:31Speaker 5: you're playing dungeons and Dragons on the table, you've got
- 35:32Speaker 5: your character sheet right there. If there's any like oily
- 35:35Speaker 5: residue on it whatsoever, like even a tiny bit, it's
- 35:38Speaker 5: gonna leave marks on your sheet, right yep. So designing
- 35:41Speaker 5: a process that wouldn't do that, like, wouldn't even leave
- 35:44Speaker 5: it drop on any of your surfaces was crucial. And
- 35:48Speaker 5: the process of doing that like like no joke, literally
- 35:52Speaker 5: like I tried to. I tried to make a set
- 35:54Speaker 5: that smelled like bacon, and it melted them. It melted
- 35:57Speaker 5: the dice. So lots like I said, like fifty prototypes,
- 36:03Speaker 5: like at least like tons and tons of the prototypes
- 36:05Speaker 5: of things that we tried and and and didn't work
- 36:08Speaker 5: until we found the method that you.
- 36:09Speaker 4: Actually have to remind people not to eat the dice.
- 36:11Speaker 3: It's all over the tents.
- 36:13Speaker 5: One of the things we're doing in the kickstarter is
- 36:15Speaker 5: we've got a We've got a tiro on the Kickstarter
- 36:17Speaker 5: that's that you specifically get called out to not eat
- 36:19Speaker 5: the dice, like, well, we'll put your name on the ten.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Now.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Have you had a lot of input from people with
- 36:28Speaker 1: Wild Magic now available on Kickstarter, have you had like
- 36:32Speaker 1: a lot of input from people saying, hey, we like
- 36:34Speaker 1: this smell. Has it opened the doors to maybe some
- 36:37Speaker 1: some new kind of smells?
- 36:38Speaker 3: Oh? Absolutely?
- 36:39Speaker 5: In fact, lavender enchantment uh is part of this kickstarter
- 36:44Speaker 5: because people would would frequently bring up like I love
- 36:47Speaker 5: the smell of lavender, Like I'd love to have a
- 36:49Speaker 5: lavender one. And I was like, you know what, like
- 36:51Speaker 5: a lot of our smells are like it's like ancient armory,
- 36:54Speaker 5: which is like leather and steel and fireball char and
- 36:56Speaker 5: old forest and like kind of these kind of more
- 37:00Speaker 5: like rugged smells. And I was like you know what,
- 37:03Speaker 5: it would be really nice to get something that was
- 37:05Speaker 5: kind of a softer note.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I think that would be lovely.
- 37:08Speaker 5: It took a while to get it, though, but but
- 37:10Speaker 5: when we found the right fragrance, it really worked out.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:14Speaker 2: My favorite, my favorite ones by far and is the
- 37:17Speaker 2: the linen one that even just smelling it in the
- 37:23Speaker 2: box smells so good. Smells like a I don't know,
- 37:25Speaker 2: fresh day.
- 37:27Speaker 1: What was the toughest scent that you you just it
- 37:30Speaker 1: just you kept having to work it till it finally
- 37:33Speaker 1: hit that right note with your nose.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Uh, Lavender lavender was the This one actually was extremely
- 37:40Speaker 5: difficult because lavender lovely fragrance, but it's used in a
- 37:44Speaker 5: lot of common household products and so like, it was
- 37:48Speaker 5: very difficult to find a fragrance that that smelled lovely
- 37:52Speaker 5: but also didn't smell like four and nine and and
- 37:55Speaker 5: so uh that that actually like was a weird lined
- 37:58Speaker 5: across of Like, So what ended up being the secret
- 38:02Speaker 5: was actually like blending the lavender and the magnolia as
- 38:05Speaker 5: kind of like it kind of created this sort of
- 38:08Speaker 5: soft thing that muted it down and took it out
- 38:10Speaker 5: of that sort of cleanser sort of smell, right, Yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 2: So what's been the what's been the most positive feedback
- 38:16Speaker 2: you've gotten from people that have picked up these dice?
- 38:19Speaker 5: That's a well, people threatening to eat them. That's the
- 38:22Speaker 5: reason why we have to do this special warning.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Watch out for the steak one too.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Yeah. I do have to keep them away from My
- 38:32Speaker 2: four year old loves to play with my dice, and
- 38:34Speaker 2: he does. He does know they smell, but so these
- 38:36Speaker 2: have to stay high up or he definitely won't put
- 38:38Speaker 2: them in his mouth.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Don't don't do that.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Starter, How does somebody, how does somebody get involved in
- 38:47Speaker 1: you know, somebody listening right now and we go, you
- 38:49Speaker 1: know what I want to do.
- 38:50Speaker 4: I want to get some of these.
- 38:51Speaker 1: These because maybe they're they're playing or they're starting to play.
- 38:54Speaker 1: How do they go ahead and you know, participate in
- 38:57Speaker 1: the Kickstarter.
- 38:58Speaker 5: You know, I actually like help people with this periodically.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Just like just this morning, one of my friends referred
- 39:04Speaker 5: to a friend that wanted to make a video game.
- 39:05Speaker 5: And I've I've been making video games for decades as
- 39:08Speaker 5: well as this stuff. And and it's actually very different
- 39:13Speaker 5: depending on the product. So dice go to Kickstarter a
- 39:16Speaker 5: different way than board games and board games go to
- 39:18Speaker 5: a different have different things than than video games by
- 39:22Speaker 5: a long, long margin. But the main thing is you
- 39:26Speaker 5: need to come prepared with your audience like that that's
- 39:29Speaker 5: really like the bedrock of it. So make your thing,
- 39:33Speaker 5: share it with people, like, don't be too afraid about
- 39:35Speaker 5: protecting your idea. Take it to conventions. Like when I
- 39:39Speaker 5: showed them the dice to Sean the first time, they
- 39:42Speaker 5: weren't actually for sale that year, like like we were
- 39:44Speaker 5: still kind of in the demoing sort of space, right,
- 39:47Speaker 5: and and so being comfortable with doing that.
- 39:50Speaker 3: In fact, I think I showed you Gruff before it
- 39:52Speaker 3: was available too. Well.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, we demoed Gruff in the first exposure
- 39:56Speaker 2: playtest all that.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Sure, And then we came back and I was like,
- 39:59Speaker 2: how do I buy your game, dude? Because this is amazing?
- 40:02Speaker 1: Uh.
- 40:03Speaker 2: And then we've just been you know, my friend Steve
- 40:05Speaker 2: and I have been playing it, and I don't know,
- 40:08Speaker 2: I just I love supporting Brent in his work. And
- 40:11Speaker 2: like I said, I saw how excited he was about
- 40:14Speaker 2: these dice and he's like, they're not even for sale yet,
- 40:16Speaker 2: and I was like, well, how do I buy him?
- 40:17Speaker 2: Because we have to wait until next year. That is
- 40:22Speaker 2: super cool.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Now, is there a website, Brent where people can go
- 40:26Speaker 1: to or do they do a Kickstarter and then use
- 40:29Speaker 1: their name?
- 40:30Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 40:30Speaker 5: Definitely going off searching Barrens smelly Bones on Kickstarter, We'll
- 40:35Speaker 5: get you to the kickstarter for the Wild Magic campaign.
- 40:38Speaker 5: That's the one that's live right now. And our website
- 40:40Speaker 5: is Studio Woe dot com. And you can also do
- 40:44Speaker 5: Smellybones dot com and that'll that'll also redirect you to
- 40:47Speaker 5: our website.
- 40:47Speaker 3: But the company is called Studio.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Woe and uh and yeah we do that that goat
- 40:53Speaker 5: game and and the Scented Dice game.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I have to ask you, what is the greatest game, Brent?
- 40:59Speaker 1: You've ever played the greatest game?
- 41:03Speaker 4: So probably not.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Fair, but I've ever played oh man that So that's
- 41:09Speaker 5: rough because I do make make games as my day job,
- 41:12Speaker 5: and they probably want me to say their game. But uh,
- 41:17Speaker 5: I'll say that my favorite video game was Legend of
- 41:24Speaker 5: Aulda Link to the Past. I think that that one
- 41:27Speaker 5: is just a real feel good, happy.
- 41:30Speaker 2: One of Sewan's on Shawn's list, too, isn't it. Well,
- 41:33Speaker 2: that's one of the ones that I beat while I
- 41:35Speaker 2: was waiting for Daniel to be born, oh on my
- 41:38Speaker 2: switch and then I played through that on my switch,
- 41:41Speaker 2: So yes, I do like link the past, but Operating
- 41:43Speaker 2: of Time is definitely oh.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's a good one.
- 41:45Speaker 5: If you want a recommendation for one that just carried
- 41:47Speaker 5: me out fairly recently and you like that kind of
- 41:50Speaker 5: old school type type of game, Claire obscure, Uh, that
- 41:54Speaker 5: one game of the year last year, that that game
- 41:58Speaker 5: is fantastic.
- 41:59Speaker 3: So that is that is great?
- 42:01Speaker 1: All right, So they can find you on the web,
- 42:04Speaker 1: of course it can get in on the kickstarter right now.
- 42:06Speaker 4: What's next for you?
- 42:07Speaker 3: Brent?
- 42:07Speaker 4: Have you have you decided yet?
- 42:09Speaker 3: Uh?
- 42:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Well after that, I uh, we're doing another line
- 42:15Speaker 5: of uh of dice actually shortly after so that there
- 42:18Speaker 5: was a couple of years gap between our last Kickstarter
- 42:21Speaker 5: in this one, but we're gonna follow up with this
- 42:22Speaker 5: one pretty quick line of anti hero dice. That one's
- 42:26Speaker 5: gonna be fun, including oblivion absinthe that smells like black licorice.
- 42:31Speaker 5: It's gonna be awesome and.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Oh my god that you yeah, please please tell me
- 42:38Speaker 2: you I can smell that edge.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'll have the sample.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh my god, because black liquorice is my all
- 42:44Speaker 2: time favorite candy, my all time favorite food. Like it's
- 42:47Speaker 2: black liquoricees. My wife hates it. I love it. Oh
- 42:51Speaker 2: my god, black liqusse. That's gonna be fantastic.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Brent.
- 42:54Speaker 1: We're exciting for you again. Kickstarter launch this week. Find
- 42:58Speaker 1: it on the world Wide Web. Of course, Studio wo
- 43:01Speaker 1: LLC get those five brand new scented dice in the
- 43:04Speaker 1: kickstarting Now, how can they purchase it through Kickstarter? They
- 43:08Speaker 1: just make it and then they would get one set,
- 43:11Speaker 1: or they would get, you know, all of the ones that.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Are at How does that work?
- 43:13Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 43:14Speaker 5: Yeah, there's there's a tier where you can get one
- 43:17Speaker 5: of your choice of the base three new ones. There's
- 43:21Speaker 5: one where you can get all three of the new ones.
- 43:22Speaker 5: There's a tier where you can get all three of
- 43:24Speaker 5: the new ones and then the two most recent ones.
- 43:26Speaker 5: And then there's tiers that actually give you access to
- 43:30Speaker 5: archive packs from our previous sets, some of which have
- 43:33Speaker 5: been sold out for years. So yeah, so because we're
- 43:38Speaker 5: doing a big reprint at the same time that we're
- 43:40Speaker 5: manufacturing this, so a lot of new, exciting stuff is going.
- 43:43Speaker 3: To be available on there. And then there's that one tier.
- 43:46Speaker 5: I would tell you about where where it's only for
- 43:48Speaker 5: like three people, but if you back at that tier,
- 43:52Speaker 5: we'll call you out specifically to not put them in
- 43:54Speaker 5: your mouth.
- 43:56Speaker 2: There you go.
- 43:57Speaker 4: I like it.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much for coming on tech Talk Radio,
- 44:00Speaker 1: Brent again. A great idea, and I know Sean's really
- 44:03Speaker 1: happy about it too, so well, I know he'll be
- 44:05Speaker 1: spinning and smelling.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks for having me.
- 44:08Speaker 1: All Right, we gotta take you another quick break. Come
- 44:10Speaker 1: back with more of tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I'm Sean de Word.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Find us on Facebook at tech Talkers.
- 44:16Speaker 3: We'll be right back and now back to tech Talk Radio.
- 44:20Speaker 2: COVID brought upon a lot of Internet time, a lot
- 44:24Speaker 2: of time spent in Zoom, a lot of time spent
- 44:26Speaker 2: on Skype, and then Skype got shut down not that
- 44:28Speaker 2: long ago, and it was replaced by teams. Out of
- 44:31Speaker 2: all the options that have been available, teams has been
- 44:33Speaker 2: the worst.
- 44:34Speaker 4: I still don't get it. Skype was good, Skype was great.
- 44:37Speaker 2: So then they shuddered it and created teams and teams.
- 44:41Speaker 2: This is not a great experience. It's I get it.
- 44:45Speaker 2: It's an enterprise level thing. My spite for teams is
- 44:48Speaker 2: not nearly as big as two twin brothers. So there's
- 44:53Speaker 2: a story that came out last week of twin brothers
- 44:56Speaker 2: who got fired from their government it job. Oh wait,
- 45:01Speaker 2: so they worked in government it all right, So mon
- 45:05Speaker 2: BIEB and so Harker, I'm sure I butchered those names.
- 45:09Speaker 2: They worked for a federal contract opex, opek, op opex
- 45:13Speaker 2: or whatever. They had been fired in a teams meeting.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Oh during the teams meeting.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Teams meeting, they got you know, broaday because they were working.
- 45:24Speaker 2: So they get fired, and then they're like, you know what,
- 45:26Speaker 2: We're going to enact some revenge and we're gonna hack
- 45:29Speaker 2: and delete some databases and because we still have VP
- 45:32Speaker 2: had access and all this stuff.
- 45:34Speaker 3: The reason they know.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Is this was after a while. Yeah, this was after
- 45:39Speaker 2: the call was over, but they didn't close teams. Oh no,
- 45:44Speaker 2: So everybody left the meeting, right except the twin brothers,
- 45:48Speaker 2: And they decided to go on this little spree of
- 45:52Speaker 2: wiping databases and trying to cover their tracks and using
- 45:55Speaker 2: AI to try try to figure out how they were
- 45:57Speaker 2: going to cover their tracks. And then they closed teams
- 46:02Speaker 2: or close their computer or whatever, which then sent a
- 46:04Speaker 2: fully AI transcribed script of everything they had said during
- 46:11Speaker 2: their little interaction at post being fired. So not only
- 46:17Speaker 2: is their transcripts, but it's detailed, like it's they would
- 46:22Speaker 2: do it. But you know, like in this on our call,
- 46:25Speaker 2: when I speak, it brings me up and it says
- 46:27Speaker 2: Sean's talking. When you talk, it goes to you and
- 46:30Speaker 2: it says, and he's talking. This is detailed to the
- 46:32Speaker 2: point where it's this person's talking, that person's talking. So
- 46:36Speaker 2: you know which which brother is talking about which thing?
- 46:39Speaker 2: So can you imagine you're just doing this. You still
- 46:42Speaker 2: have VP and access, you get in, you want the database.
- 46:45Speaker 2: You think you're scott free, and then you get slapped
- 46:48Speaker 2: with the subpoena and they're like, they're like, you don't
- 46:50Speaker 2: know it's us, and they're like, wait, this is you
- 46:53Speaker 2: telling us exactly what you were doing in an AI
- 46:57Speaker 2: transcript of teams. So everybody hates teams until until until
- 47:04Speaker 2: Teams comes in comes in clutch with incriminating evidence about
- 47:08Speaker 2: your crimes. Ours Technica has a great, great right up
- 47:12Speaker 2: about it with detailed transcripts on what they were saying,
- 47:18Speaker 2: what they were doing, what they were trying to do,
- 47:21Speaker 2: how they were going to cover up their tracks. I
- 47:22Speaker 2: mean these guys were idiots, so I.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Would assume though, So what probably happened is whoever was,
- 47:30Speaker 1: you know, lead the meeting, it just kept recording on
- 47:32Speaker 1: these guys side probably paid no attention to that that
- 47:36Speaker 1: they're probably not there talking to each other. But once
- 47:39Speaker 1: they exit, it sends the transcript to that person. Right
- 47:44Speaker 1: then they're like, oh, wait a minute, so why is
- 47:46Speaker 1: this why was this called?
- 47:48Speaker 3: You know?
- 47:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's said, the funniest part about it is
- 47:51Speaker 2: like the HR personnel left the meeting approximately two minutes
- 47:53Speaker 2: and forty seconds into the recording, right, so two minutes,
- 47:58Speaker 2: two minutes and forty seconds. Basically they got up a
- 48:00Speaker 2: call and said you fired. Yeah bye boy not good. Oh,
- 48:05Speaker 2: And then they had an hour of interactions between the
- 48:07Speaker 2: two brothers talking about they're still connect to the VPN
- 48:11Speaker 2: daily backups, We're doing this petty stuff. I'm gonna wipe
- 48:15Speaker 2: my computer. I mean, they go into detailed about like
- 48:18Speaker 2: I'm going to RDP in to their system Remote Desktop
- 48:20Speaker 2: Protocol to their system, and it's like they're talking specifics
- 48:24Speaker 2: about this is what I'm deleting.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Well, I don't condone their actions, but it's a good
- 48:28Speaker 4: reminder that cameras are everywhere, and cameras could be recording.
- 48:32Speaker 3: You know.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I've heard stories of people sitting down at the computer
- 48:36Speaker 1: and their webcams got a light on, and they've asked me,
- 48:41Speaker 1: should I be concerned? I said, yes, you should. If
- 48:44Speaker 1: your camera's got a light on, that means it's on
- 48:47Speaker 1: and you know somebody could be watching it.
- 48:49Speaker 2: So it's like it's like my favorite. It's one of
- 48:50Speaker 2: my favorite scenes in the West Wing when he has
- 48:53Speaker 2: the Council's office says a recorder on his desk and
- 48:57Speaker 2: the president comes in and says, I need to tell
- 48:58Speaker 2: you something that could you know, I could get in trouble,
- 49:01Speaker 2: and he just grabs a gavel and smash smashing the
- 49:04Speaker 2: recording device just to make sure it wasn't recording.
- 49:08Speaker 1: I wanted to tell you about a game I saw
- 49:10Speaker 1: online and I don't know what it is about the game.
- 49:14Speaker 4: I want to play it now.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I found out it's available on Steam for twenty nine bucks,
- 49:18Speaker 1: and I believe it just came out last week. It's
- 49:20Speaker 1: called Mouse Pi for Hire, and it just it has
- 49:26Speaker 1: like a Mickey Mouse feel to it, where this mouse
- 49:31Speaker 1: is the pi and he's going around trying to Solve
- 49:34Speaker 1: Crimes PI Private Investigator and it just looked like a
- 49:37Speaker 1: lot of fun. But again, it's one of those that's
- 49:40Speaker 1: available on Steam, so you know, if you have a
- 49:42Speaker 1: Steam account, you could play it just about anywhere.
- 49:44Speaker 2: But it looks like a cross between Dick Tracy, Mickey Mouse,
- 49:51Speaker 2: and who Framed Roger Rabbit? Yeah, and watching this video,
- 49:55Speaker 2: I'm not joking, like it's got the big taxi with
- 49:57Speaker 2: the big wheels and it's this is great. I'm watching
- 50:00Speaker 2: the video off the Steam web page and this looks great.
- 50:03Speaker 2: It looks it kind of has a kind of has
- 50:05Speaker 2: a cup head vibe to it if you're familiar with
- 50:07Speaker 2: that game at all.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Right now, if I was to get this shun on Steam,
- 50:12Speaker 1: I would be able to play that with my Steam
- 50:13Speaker 1: account on my PC.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Right, Oh, yeah, you download it. Yeah, you can play it.
- 50:18Speaker 2: It's Windows only, so it's not available for Mac. But yeah,
- 50:23Speaker 2: it's twenty ninety nine for the game. Right, they have
- 50:26Speaker 2: a Digital Digital Deluxe Edition which has the original soundtrack,
- 50:32Speaker 2: the first DLC.
- 50:33Speaker 1: For it, and a comic book at a nine. I
- 50:39Speaker 1: think this could be good, you know, now we don't.
- 50:42Speaker 1: It's kind of funny because we don't get E three anymore.
- 50:45Speaker 1: E three went away during COVID. They were going to
- 50:48Speaker 1: do it and then they stopped. E three was like
- 50:50Speaker 1: the Cees of gaming basically.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Really, the only big gaming show you get any more
- 50:55Speaker 2: is the Game Show Awards, and that's it. That's it.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Not very many people watch it though, but this one
- 51:01Speaker 1: looks like it could be fun. Mouse Pi for hire
- 51:04Speaker 1: if you want to look that up and give it
- 51:05Speaker 1: a try on Steam. We're gonna take a quick break.
- 51:08Speaker 1: We'll be back with more of tech Talk Radio. I'm
- 51:11Speaker 1: Andy Taylor, I'm Sean To. We'd send us an X
- 51:14Speaker 1: at tech talk Radio.
- 51:15Speaker 4: We'll we're back and now back to tech Talk Radio.
- 51:18Speaker 3: I really enjoy listening to your show. It's really cool.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Well, thanks, very very informative.
- 51:24Speaker 3: US rookie, Are you a rookie.
- 51:26Speaker 4: I'm very much a rookie.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Hey, this is Taryl Parano and you listen to the
- 51:30Speaker 5: geeks on the radio tech Talk Radio.
- 51:32Speaker 1: All right, I got a big question for you, Sean,
- 51:34Speaker 1: and you would know because you're a Plex user.
- 51:37Speaker 4: You use Plex and I got a thing the other day.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Hey, we're renewing your Plex account and I thought I
- 51:44Speaker 1: have a Plex account. I thought, wait, I do have
- 51:49Speaker 1: a Plex account, and I pay for the little extra
- 51:53Speaker 1: fee to be able to stream my content, but I
- 51:55Speaker 1: don't even have a setup anywhere like I had it
- 51:58Speaker 1: at one time. I had a drive that had Okay,
- 52:01Speaker 1: this is my content. If I ever want to stream
- 52:03Speaker 1: it and show somebody, I could do that. But I'm thinking,
- 52:07Speaker 1: let me ask you your opinion. Would you renew Plex
- 52:11Speaker 1: if it came up to that?
- 52:14Speaker 3: Are you?
- 52:14Speaker 4: Are you two in you know ingratiated into the Plex platform.
- 52:19Speaker 2: I bought a lifetime Plex pass like eight years ago,
- 52:24Speaker 2: right for lifetime for lifetime, so I don't have to renew.
- 52:28Speaker 3: Right.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I just bought it, and I'm trying to think how
- 52:30Speaker 2: much it costs me then, but I think it was
- 52:31Speaker 2: like somewhere like one hundred and eighty five bucks or
- 52:33Speaker 2: something like that.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I know how to look up.
- 52:36Speaker 1: The rate has gone up too, and I haven't canceled yet,
- 52:40Speaker 1: but I'm thinking maybe I'm just trying to decide if
- 52:43Speaker 1: I want to keep it. You know, I'm doing more
- 52:45Speaker 1: videos now and I'm thinking that might be a good
- 52:48Speaker 1: way to share a video so they could see it,
- 52:50Speaker 1: so I can't put it on YouTube if it's you know, it's.
- 52:53Speaker 4: Their work, So I don't know.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Well, I mean, if you have a PLEX server and
- 53:00Speaker 2: you wanted to reach the outside world, you have to
- 53:01Speaker 2: be careful, right because you have to keep you updated
- 53:05Speaker 2: because a lot of people don't remember that. Remember last
- 53:09Speaker 2: pass we've talked about last past four, That's how they
- 53:13Speaker 2: got breached was through one of their guys connecting on
- 53:16Speaker 2: a VPN with a unpatched PLEX server that somebody got into.
- 53:21Speaker 2: So if you want a outside reaching PLEX server, you
- 53:25Speaker 2: just got to keep up to date and make.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Sure you're not doing you know, yeah, make sure all
- 53:30Speaker 4: the updates are.
- 53:30Speaker 2: The content that's on people's Plus servers is not always legal,
- 53:33Speaker 2: so you've got to remember to keep that in mind. Wait,
- 53:37Speaker 2: if you're trying to host stuff outside of your own home.
- 53:39Speaker 2: So I paid one hundred and nineteen dollars for my
- 53:44Speaker 2: plex pass and that was eight years ago or something.
- 53:49Speaker 2: It is now two forty nine.
- 53:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I notice it'd gone up. So you still lifetime?
- 53:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah you can if you want it for two
- 54:00Speaker 1: nine right, all right, So I thought, you know, I'm
- 54:03Speaker 1: gonna ask Sean and see what he thinks about that.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I would I mean, if I was paying month to
- 54:07Speaker 2: month I would, but I saw the benefit of doing
- 54:10Speaker 2: the plus past a long time ago, because I just
- 54:14Speaker 2: it's it's you're going on well word at the cost
- 54:16Speaker 2: for me.
- 54:17Speaker 1: So all right, all right, next week if you go
- 54:19Speaker 1: see it Mandalorian and Grogu give us a review.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, if.
- 54:23Speaker 2: If I can just see it before next week, I
- 54:26Speaker 2: will definitely. I'm definitely gonna go see it this week weekend.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Just not sure with memorially weekend if I'll see it
- 54:34Speaker 2: before I go camping or when I come home.
