- Aaron: Howdy, howdy, and welcome back to Run After Cast, the weather-delayed college football podcast. I am your bedraggled host, Aaron, joined by my two good, also safe from weather friends, Ryan. Ryan: Sub guys. Aaron: And Chandler. Chandler: How's it going? Gentlemen. Ryan: what does Badragled mean? Aaron: It means containing, covered with, or thoroughly penetrated by water. And after a weekend Ryan: Ha ha. Aaron: of hurricanes, we're all a little bedraggled down here. We got punch right in the mouth by a hurricane, which is why this episode's coming at you a day later than normal. Is we just got power back and are able to record. So as much as it hurt us physically to not talk about the exciting weekend of football. For an extra day. We're now ready. We're here. We're all together with lights, mics, and cameras. So let's get straight into it. We had week six of college football. A bunch of exciting games took place, but I would say none more exciting, even before it happened. We get to look at a rivalry game that is a great game every year. That is the Red River Rivalry. We had a shocker this week, boys. What was your takeaway from this fantastic game? Chandler: I think rivalry aside. I didn't think it mattered how bad Arch Manning played, and I think they still won this game. Just because I watched an Oklahoma team play Michigan that didn't have a competent offense at all. And Michigan is not a competent team at all either. And it w in somehow, some way, Michigan wins that game. And they basically lost to Western Michigan. So I was already writing off Oklahoma like it Ryan: And Iowa. Chandler: yeah, like if if Texas comes out here and just plays like their C minus game, they will win this game. And boy was I wrong. Ryan: Okay, to be fair, Oklahoma didn't really play good on offense. John Matthew did better than normal, but Arch, I think, kind of figured out that Cam Coleman's a really safe outlet that I can throw the ball to him. He's probably gonna catch it. And he had a couple crazy catches for touchdowns. He put up a bunch of yards. But late in the game, he was kind of trying to force it into him when usually he finds his sure handed target, like a tight end or something, like sitting in a soft spot when he leaks out. But then he threw a pick six to Peyton Bowen. And like you just can't do that. When you spot a team that like sucks that bad on offense like Oklahoma and they're actually playing okay and you just give another touchdown, I mean they they wouldn't have won if that didn't happen. Chandler: We talk about it every week, but like there's always those like marquee stats that you can like tell me and it's the offensive yards and third down conversion rates and then turnovers. Those are the three things you can look at and and you could probably guess a winner of a team or a winner of a game. And you look at Oklahoma and they were two for thirteen on third down and they had two hundred and thirty eight offensive yards. So I tell you those two stats and you tell me that the other team won every single time. But it didn't happen, 'cause like Ryan said, Ryan: That's Chandler: But turnover it's it's you can't you Ryan: yeah, they p terrible. Yeah. Chandler: can't you can't do it. But I was shocked. But good on Oklahoma. Aaron: and I would say that this is one of those games where I think people are gonna throw a lot of shade toward Arch Manning. And I do feel like this time there's a discussion that you can have. I'm not saying the entire loss is on Arch Manning, but I do think we are seeing something that people are attacking in the Texas offense right now, which is putting Arch under pressure because Arch in the pocket with time to throw and safe. He's throwing the ball, making good decisions. Under pressure, he's not able to really hide what his intention with the ball is to the point where people aren't in stepping up in the secondary to get a jump on him. And I think that's hurting him. And for somebody who's later on and a little more experienced now, it's something they're gonna have to button up or this is gonna keep happening to him. And Oklahoma is. Offensively hasn't been strong, but defensively has shown up. Like I I do think Oklahoma defense is a different team than their offense. Ryan: think their defense is pretty solid. Yeah, their offense is pretty pretty bad. I mean at the end they were kind of doing okay. Mateir found Satanga, you can call it the Mateir Satanga connection as Aaron calls it. And he found a couple of times they went down and kicked a field goal. Stuff like that too. It's so frustrating when you see people back up at the end of games, just trying not to give up too many yards. I mean it put them in prime opportunity to kick a field goal. And the guy made a field goal. It was pretty electric. I'm happy for Oklahoma. I like John Mateer. He just kinda sucks at football. But I mean, other than that, yeah, like when you're talking about arch under pressure, Chandler: Other than that. Ryan: when you're talking about arch under pressure, yeah. When he has times, you can let the play develop. They're probably in some kind of zone coverage. And he can just get things happening. And even if the play breaks down, he finds somebody's soft spot. But yeah, they're putting pressure on him. He was kind of off to force the ball in there at the end of the game, and you it's not good. Turn the ball over, defensive touchdowns. Can't do that. And we always say you gotta score in the thirties to win a football game. And they didn't do that either. Aaron: So the number one team in the country went down. They're still in the top 10. We'll have some thoughts on that here soon. this weekend was very chaotic. There were some upsets, some games going the way we thought they would, and some people holding on a little bit better than we thought they would, too. Me and Ryan were lucky. We had a bye week this week. We got to dodge the chaos of Ryan: We lost the bye week. Aaron: Yes, and we'll we'll we'll let you go into that real quick before we hop back into the games. How did y'all manage to take the under on bye week and come out with an Ryan: So Aaron: L? Ryan: we have suspended Xavier Atkins, who him and Elijah Melendez, both of Auburn's starting linebackers, are the two highest PFF rated linebackers in the entire country. You take one of the best defensive players, the best linebacker in the whole country, we're gonna sp suspend him for the Georgia game next week. Where I didn't realize this, but he didn't start in the Florida game and he had like a suspension for like part of the Southern Miss game. But it's really weird because we always talk about how Golish sets these standards of I'm gonna have a really disciplined physical team. So he apparently he has the set of standards, which he doesn't publicly release what they are, but it's not like he did something like he bought a gun to practice or yelled at a coach or freaked out. There's like as fiery and electric as he is on the field, apparently he's just like that off the field. And something he did didn't go up to those standards that Alex Golish has. And I think he would release them and say what they were if they weren't super unrealistic. So he probably has some sort of unrealistic standard that he just said that Dave Ratkins wasn't fully meeting. I don't know if he's not like eating the way they want him to, or he showed up late a little bit, but he's using it as an example. So it's I don't understand how you can even sit him because we're gonna go play Georgia this week. And Georgia's whole thing they have that little I'm gonna throw a screen, I'm gonna throw a little out routes, I'm gonna rip a seam in cover three, I'm gonna run the ball. And they just wait till they have like a couple big explosive running plays where their defense puts them in a good spot and they run the ball. And we're gonna take the best linebacker in the whole country out of the game so we can't stop the run. And Golas just continues over and over and over to set us up for failure. So that's really bad. Aaron: It is always exciting when you manage to blunder bye week. we'll have to see if our week of rest and recuperation pays off for our team next week. But I will, because we were on a bye week, I did want to say we'll have a punishment in line here that me and you can't talk about Auburn and Mississippi State from this point on in the episode. We have to go through the rest of our list just talking about the teams we're gonna talk about. Since we love to do that. So an infraction here will end up in a gold-ish-like penalty on one of these before a big game. So you'll wish for it. Ryan: Okay. Aaron: but no. I think I I I think you boys might agree with me here. the electric game that we did get to watch, I think a surprise here was the Alabama-Georgia game. I think we got to see two teams really battling it out here. And Both Georgia and Alabama looked really good. We'll have some comments towards the end of the game that we'll talk about, but let's get into the overall first. Chandler, take us away. What did you see in the key stats? Chandler: First of all, let me go ahead and get on my on my Big Ten high horse here. And let's go ahead and Aaron: Okay, never mind. Go to ride. No, no, enjoy your high horse. Chandler: Let's let's let's take away from the game and just remember the fact that Alabama lost, right? We look at them six before the game, ranking wise. They lose the game at home. Granted, you know, it was number two versus number six, battling out. Close game. That's what you'd expect. But they don't go down at all. They stay the same. They stay at six. The game never happened. The loss doesn't count already. Now We go over to Ohio State, Texas. I don't care how they lost. I don't care if Julian Sand was playing left-handed the whole game. They lose by one on the road at six thirty at Texas and they drop seven spots. Doesn't make any sense. Texas goes out and loses to Oklahoma. An unranked Oklahoma that lost to Michigan and only drops six slots. Doesn't make any sense. That's all I have. Aaron: It's only because we're Ryan: You know what makes less sense? Aaron: Okay. Ryan: How Indiana's five. They should be unranked. You almost lost to Northwestern Wisconsin. Wisconsin's not even ranked. How are they unranked? If it's the same Chandler: twenty six. Ryan: thing, like you're competitive, Wisconsin's sixth? Chandler: Twenty sixth. Ryan: What'd you say? Yeah, I that's what I'm saying. If you're saying you're competitive, Alabama's right here competitive with Georgia, and you have the same thing. You have an unranked Wisconsin team who barely lost to Indiana, who they're actually saying. Did so good. I'm gonna move them up this week. Y you they barely lost that game. No, no, no, no. I'm I'm giving an Chandler: See, we're we're getting away from the point here. As the Ryan: opposite of your point, because Andy Annas should be dropping, or they should have moved up Wisconsin to put them right behind them, just like they with Alabama, Georgia. But we knew they were gonna do this with Alabama, Georgia, because they're gonna argue, they're so good, that's how you should play against the number two team. But yeah, like you're saying, at least Texas is behind you now. Even though you played better than them for a first half of a game. So that's good for you. But Aaron: Also, the rules clearly state only two SEC teams can drop out of the top ten or out of the top five each week. So yeah, Chandler: You see, I didn't read that fine print, that's on me. Aaron: see you gotta read that part. LSU in Texas took a hit. That's it. After that, no more. yeah, barely a hit. Chandler: Yeah. Not even a hit. Barely a hit. This dropped his dropped him to seven. Ryan: And you have to have the Big twelve representation of BYU as well in there. Chandler: And Texas Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: Tech. Aaron: However, I will say, outside of my SEC fandom, I we need some justice for Nebraska here. Nebraska not being in the top twenty five, criminal. Let's get him in there. But we'll we'll have some more separate top twenty five discussions. Ryan: that's what I meant. Did I see Wisconsin? Chandler: Yeah, you said Wisconsin. Ryan: I'm at Nebraska, I'm sorry. Chandler: Yeah, well hey, Nebraska's ranked like twenty Aaron: Then here we're SEC minded that much. Chandler: sixth now and Northwestern's ranked now, so who's to say they didn't actually they weren't actually better than people thought? Ryan: Indiana is only ranked because Bernana Mendoza, who's not there, won the Heisman Trophy and a totally different team won the national championship last year. I think Northwestern should be higher. I like them. I like Chip Kelly. Aaron: I do, I do. Chandler: look, see Indiana loses next week, they're probably gonna drop to like, I don't know, fifty first. So Ryan: The thing the thing that's so bad for me, Aaron: Yeah. 'Cause unlimited Big Ten teams can fall. Chandler: Exactly. Ryan: the thing that's so bad to me though, is we see there's flaws in these teams. And the only way that the committee will actually see that there's an issue is if they finally lose lose the game. So I'm rooting against all these teams who I don't even care. They're like pretty good. But yeah, they shouldn't be top ten. And I'm like, I wish by BYU lost. I wish Indiana lost. Because they're playing yeah, Chandler: See it doesn't matter. They finally lost a game and they're still six. Ryan: but they're playing so bad. I know, but they're now on paper, they lost to the best team in the country. Because Georgia's won now. So they're setting it up like Chandler: Yeah, so did Ohio Aaron: And Chandler: State. Aaron: contractually Alabama gets one. They get they get one Mulligan. Ryan: Yeah, because they have well Chandler: Sounds good. Ryan: they have really cool uniforms and they won a national championship like eight years ago. So they're they're yeah, they have to be top ten. Chandler: Talking about game, what's Aaron: Yeah, back to Alabama, Georgia. Chandler: crazy to me is you look at box score of this game, like penalty-wise, you look at the stats that like are intriguing to me, like penalties, all the all the things we always talk about. There was 12 penalties in this game for a total of 107 yards. And you're like, wow. And that's what I was about to say. You would say, like, wow, Aaron: And a lot of people would argue there should be some more. Yeah. Chandler: there's 107 yards penalties. But It I think there was at least three or four miss calls. So i Aaron: Yes. Chandler: there was very undisciplined teams on both sides of the ball. And you can argue they did miss some calls, but I would argue like there's blatant ones like the pass in Francian Zone, the face mask they missed, all that kind of different stuff. But there was also I mean, y nobody ever gets all the holding calls. There's always holding calls that fall short that don't get called. So Aaron: absolutely. Yeah. Chandler: to ha to have your threshold be twelve penalties and there still should have been probably fifteen, sixteen penalties total, is Not a lot of discipline on the game. So that was the first thing that stood out to me. Second thing, I thought Gunnar Stockton, and really Keelan Russell too at times, but Gunnar Stockton the way he was throwing a deep ball and th and those seams that came open in the rain in those conditions was impressive. He was putting the ball on people, it was it was on the money. They looked good when they were driving down. They won the possession battle of like timed of of possession, thirty three minutes, twenty six minutes. There's a lot of good things. And third down conversions weren't that bad. Seven for thirteen. So all in all, I think it was a very undisciplined game penalty wise, but Georgia came out, they went to Tuscaloosa, threw a hurricane and beat But it didn't matter because Ryan: And Chandler: they're still six. Ryan: and this is kind of crazy. This is the first time Georgia has beaten Alabama in the regular season since 2007. So it's almost been 20 years since this has happened. But yeah, like you're saying, Georgia kind of runs like these weird nothing offenses. But there's one break in a coverage, and yeah, I'm ripping a seam for a touchdown. You know, I'm gonna start breaking big runs and we're gonna capitalize on it. And then they just play really good defense. But They're usually so disciplined, and I'm used to them being so disciplined. And on I mean, on defense, they're having penalties, but even on offense, all the false starts and stuff, the self-eliminating, like we talk about, was so bad. And I think Alabama actually played pretty good on offense. They ran for like 160 yards or something, which is like 163 more than they did in the SEZ Championship last year. And Keelon actually did kind of okay. If you're really playing the number two team in the country, like you're doing kind of okay. You're putting the ball around. Even Ryan Williams was like catching some really hard contested catches and stuff. They played good. But Keon still is kind of new where he's having those highs and lows, and you are playing a great defense. So it's hard to go and win those games. And you could argue that yeah, there might have been a missed call on the pass interference or whatever, but you like you take a sack and get out of field goal range, stuff like that. That's unacceptable. And you've had so many chances to go win that game and you couldn't do it. And Georgia was playing so sloppy. Aaron: The thing I took away from this game is Gunnar Stockton does not play flashy football. He is consistent. He is scarily consistent. That it's like they play their scheme very, very well offensively. Defensively, of course, the thing Georgia is known for is how they change up their pressures, how everything looks. I I don't want to take away from How good Keelon Russell looked out there. I think there's a lot of things that when they go back this week and they look at the tape, there were issues. I think very early on, he was trying to decipher George's defense. And you could tell he was a little frazzled. for those first couple drives. After that, of course, throughout the game, there were a couple decisions, the sack, the things like that that shouldn't have happened. But I chalk him up to being a young quarterback, but to still keep the composure that he did have throughout the game. I think tells a lot about where he's gonna go. He is a scary threat to think about next season and potentially the season after that. That I think if you're looking at this and you're writing them off at this point, it's a huge mistake to make. Ryan: Yeah, I think he played great. And you definitely saw the ceiling that like he had a couple interceptions ever but they were like tipped and stuff. Like that's not even really his fault. It was all wet and rainy. And then he had the one he's breaking all the tackles and throws a diving Mahomes pass and completes it. So yeah, you're really seeing how good someone can be. And when you're that young, you can only do it so often. And that part's just gonna become more consistent. I actually think he played pretty good. Chandler: Hearing feedback. Aaron: Make sure it's something. the other big takeaway for me was that Alabama's run game is coming together. We're seeing it consistently now through the games. It's getting a little bit better, a little bit better, and it worked this week against Georgia. And even if you're not a Georgia fan, their defense has been really good. there's been a couple mistakes defense has made, and as we said in this game, we had a lot of discipline mistakes. But in terms of a run game that hasn't seen a lot of success. If it wasn't gonna find it, it wouldn't find it against Georgia. And the fact that it was there means there's something there that if you are going up against Alabama for the rest of this season, you're gonna have to watch for it. You're gonna have to start factoring it in where I think the first three games of the season, for first four games, you didn't have to. Ryan: Yeah, I almost think they could have ran the ball more. But I'm I'm shocked that this keeps working. They figured something out in that second half of that Kentucky game, and they have been able to run the ball the whole time. I mean, Grubb hasn't been able to run the ball his whole career. And now he's just Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: doing it every week. I against the best defense in the country. One of them, Georgia. I hate them all. But I want to highlight I really like Chris Cole, the linebacker on their team. He's amazing. He played good this game. He had that return Aaron: Mm-hmm. Ryan: against Arkansas. He's just like in every play. I like it. I hope he doesn't play against us this week. Maybe he can maybe he can like disrupt Kirby's list of rules and they can sit him. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Not an Auburn reference, by the way. Not an Auburn reference. Aaron: Nope, nope. I'll let you get away with that one. but borderline. No, that I do want to take one discussion point here. And it's not particularly to this game. I just think it's highlighted here. As fans, we often complain about miss calls. And then a team will rest on that. If it was called a different way. And I think we have to keep that mindset in college football that it can't be what if ball. You can't have that. Same with Michigan's loss. We can all sit here and say, Michigan didn't have the time on the clock, whatever officiating change for it. We can have our feelings on it, but at the end, the record is what it ends up being. The change I would like to see, though, to help prevent some of this discussion, because we all watch it. There was the past interference according to the checklist of the rules. We could say it. It was missed. Face mask was missed. a game ending penalty happens and is called. What I what I would like to propose. Pose a thought that maybe would stop this and pull away from that. I would like the option that the coaches could issue a challenge, similar to all other challenge rules, to call out a missed penalty. And it has to be done before the snap of the next play. They have to identify the penalty that occurred, who caused the penalty, and who the penalty was on. So all three have to be correctly identified. during that challenge and then it could be gone back and reviewed before that snap. What do you boys think about that? Ryan: Well, most of the most of the time, Alabama and Georgia the most, I actually think already have that rule. And I have tons of examples that I'm not allowed to talk about because I'm not allowed to talk about Auburn. Aaron: That's true. Ryan: But they do it all the time. And yes, I do think they should have called the pass interference. I think the face mask was really sneaky. I only saw it on the replay. Pretty good by that guy. He kinda hit it a little. But they usually call these for Alabama every single game. So I don't think it's okay because I was talking about I'm a man of justice. I w I want everything to go good how it's supposed to. But it's good for them to finally experience how I felt every single week ever. Not because Aaron: Mm-hmm. Ryan: of Auburn, because I'm not allowed to talk about Auburn this week. But it's it's good that he gets to feel like everyone else gets to feel that this week. And I'm really sad for them. But they had to pick somebody and they picked Georgia to kinda help a little. Don't want to put money on. Aaron: as I said, what if ball is what we get to play in the offseason? So for now, let's go to our I would call most exciting upset of the weekend as a personal emotion attached to that, which is Kentucky versus LSU. The overtime showdown. Chandler: See, this to me, this was my most fun game I watched all weekend. And I know the Alabama George game happened, but like this game and the way it played out, w Ryan and I were sitting there next to each other when when the overtime touchdown happened. And I looked at Ryan and I said, There is no chance that he kicks this extra point. He is going to go for two. And by golly did he get it. Because last week, same thing. He went for two to win the game. Luck might run out this time. Nay nay. Two point conversion on a five wide QB power nonetheless. I mean, that's just like a Colin Simmons celebration just on the table on LSU and Lane Kiffin's team. It's i it was so much fun to watch. And I mean right when right when the touchdown was scored in overtime, you could just see it panned over to Will Stein and he just like held up two. Like he wasn't even looking at the field, Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: like he was like, We're not we're we're not kicking this Ryan: like Yeah. Chandler: extra point. But I mean it's man, it's so fun to watch. And Will Stein is is quickly becoming one of my favorite coaches in the country to just root for. And I I mean, as as a fan, if I was a Kentucky fan, I would be two weeks in a row taking years off my life watching that because i in especially in the LSU game, I mean there was what, a timeout. I think there was two maybe a timeout or two. There was a the the game stopped. Like there was multiple chances we could sit on that decision and be like, should I actually kick the extra point? And he was like, No, and he held strong. And I mean, my gosh, a QB power on five wires is is unbelievable play call. Ryan: It's a wonderful Aaron: That's Ryan: concept. You only have four down, you spread out, you shove it in, you know. It's just a wonderful wonderful play call. Chandler: I mean 'cause you gotta w you gotta run what? Like you're on you start on the two, so he's running like at least five yards. Yeah, that's what it was. There was a flag in the yes, yes, yes, Ryan: And there was a flag. He got pushed back and they ran it again. Yeah. Chandler: yes. Ryan: But I love Will Stein. I think like the Dosecchi's go for dose thing, we're gonna have to change it to go for Stein. But I Chandler: I like it. Ryan: was Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: freaking out. I was like, he's gonna go for two. I know Will Stein, he's gonna go for two. He shouldn't do this. But then again, it's like in in the South Carolina game, it's like Lenores is out there and they're just going out and scoring immediately. You gotta like risk mitigate, I guess, where we're saying self-eliminate. This is risk mitigation. LSU comes out there, scores in two plays, and I'm just gonna end the game, you know? And that's I think that's the first time someone Chandler: man, it was so much fun to see. Ryan: ever in the FBS has won two one point games back to back. But they were Aaron: Back to backs. Yep. Ryan: both in overtime. They need to add add to the nitpick. Aaron: Van, it was it was something that like as the game goes into overtime, I'm like, it can't happen. This can't be happening again. Then LSU scores in those two plays, Chandler: I was rooting for it to happen. I was like, come on. Ryan: I w I wanted it happen. Aaron: and I was like, it can't be happening again. And as they go in, they score. I was like, it's gonna happen again. And my wife couldn't watch. She had the blanket over the head, hands over the eyes. She like doubled up not being able to watch it. And I for once felt that same. I was like, This is insanity. This is crazy to go for it. Because they know you're gonna go for it. You're telling them you're going for it. There's no trickery here. They see you line up. There's no there's no chance this is not exactly what it's gonna be. He does it. He's far braver than I am. I I was like, I just take the one, take, take the field goal. Chandler: it's fantastic. yeah, I mean the the risk reward is unbelievably swayed towards risk. But I mean, boy, does Aaron: And Chandler: Will Stein not care one bit. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: And I bet Oregon Aaron: It endeared him to me. I want him to continue. Chandler: Oregon watching that game Ryan: Yeah, I love Ulstein. Chandler: was like, Wow, we should have never let this guy go. We should have paid him whatever money we should have ever like got him to be able to extend that contract. Because I mean, they promoted with Oregon were promoted within to a OC that's only been an OC one time, and I believe it was with Rutgers, and they had one of the worst offenses in MiG ten. And then their DC promoted within has never been a defensive coordinator ever. So I mean that was that's just a recipe for disaster. And let Will Stein go because Oregon had flashes of offense last year. They just couldn't quite piece it all together. Aaron: Mm-hmm. Chandler: And now it's just like not there at all. And Will Stein over Kentucky is just licking his lips, just man, this is this is exactly where I need to be. Lower stakes and just Ryan: And that's what Chandler: killing it. Ryan: And that's what I was gonna say. That I think Will Stein having this much success at Kentucky with worse talent shows how bad of an issue that Oregon has. They have all the money, all the five stars in the world. And there shows that like it's probably a Dan Lanning issue. That he probably has some sort of input with the offensive coordinator, kind of similar to Hugh Freeze and Bill Napier. that he what? Chandler: That's an Auburn reference. He said you whoa. Ryan: That's not an Auburn reference. That's not an Auburn reference. That's a coach. He's the coach the enterprise coach? Hugh Freeze, the coach of Enterprise. Aaron: It's bore it's borderline heat it that could be liberty. It could be liberty. Ryan: The Enterprise Coach. That's not an Auburn guy. What you talking about? He coaches an Enterprise. Aaron: It's Chandler: He had input on the Auburn offense and Warren knows it and that's what he was referencing, but he held he he he man. Aaron: I I'm Ryan: That's the coach at Enterprise Aaron: gonna say Ryan: and the old Florida coach. What are you talking about? Chandler: man. Aaron: I'm gonna say sideline Ryan: Okay. Aaron: warning first and last. Chandler: That's that's like eight sideline warnings. What are we doing? my gosh. There's no way That's crazy. Ryan: It was a timeout. I was calling time out. I was calling timeout. I wasn't or I was clapping. I wasn't calling a timeout. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: That was not an honor reference to you, that was a Kirby Smart Georgia reference, guys. By the way. Chandler: Yeah. How Y that's insane. I mean, how many enterprise football games has this man watched this year to know that? Ryan: zero, my uncle used to live there though. But he probably has some sort of input like that where he doesn't get to let him do and and Will Stein's just loose Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: Probably, yeah. Ryan: and just tearing it up. Dan Lanning would never have the balls to go for it on two for two. Two times in a row. He's him. Get us a Will Aaron: It is Ryan: Stein jersey. Get us a Will Stein sponsorship. I love Kentucky and I hate LSU. I'm glad they lost. Boo. Chandler: But I will say, two turnovers and L S U, that's a that's a swinger there, for sure. I mean that's what that's what I think tilted the game a little bit. And third down conversion, seven for thirteen, not the greatest, but not the worst, but I think the two turnovers Ryan: That's pretty It's actually not that bad. Chandler: it's not that bad. But you can't lose the turnover battle and then have a guy like Will Stein knock at your door. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, just don't go to overtime. If if you have the opportunity. Yeah. overstein. Yeah. No, Chandler: You go to Overstein, o overstein, overstein Overstein. Ryan: Don't go to overstein. Don't go to overstein. Ooh. Aaron: I think it is a great way to make yourself a home and a name as an SEC coach. To me, it's great. I would be terrified if he was the coach of our team because I would develop a heart condition. But I love it. I like each week I'm just more and more invested in what he's doing, the culture he's bringing back there. And I'm so excited to see what continues on. Like it's just great to be able to see a team that even if they're not gonna go all the way this season, they're still electric to watch. I'm starting to feel that way about Northwestern too, where like, we're just seeing some fun football. And I that's what I want to see. I want to see games that are fun, that get my blood pumping. And this was one of them. And just because of the absolute insanity to just say, like, you know what my thing's gonna be? I'm gonna aim to end games no matter what. And I think now it's like even if he misses the next one, people will be like, That's fine. That's our thing. That's what we do now. Ryan: See, but he actually does it. Like in another game I watched Aaron: He did it twice in a row. Ryan: this year, I've seen people go for two when like they shouldn't have. They've been dominating an offense. I can't remember what game it was. I don't know. It happened one time. And and you can't Aaron: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I ca I can remember a a an an example. Ryan: you can't self-eliminate like that. But Wolstein gets it. And Chip Kelly also, he's another offensive guy that's just playing fun offense over there. He's messing around just at Northwestern. And it's so fun to watch. And I'm glad that this another time. Kentucky's actually ranked now. They had to prove it over and over and over and over and over for them finally to like get ranked. So that's really good for them. Chandler: Yeah, same with Nebraska, Northwestern. Aaron: Mm-hmm. Except it hasn't paid off for Nebraska yet. Ryan: Yeah, but Northwestern's like twenty fifth. What's not Nebraska's not even ranked. What do you mean? Aaron: Nope. Chandler: Yeah, but they're twenty six, they're getting close. Ryan: Dude, Nebraska should be like ninth because Indiana's just so, so good, I can't even believe it. my goodness. Chandler: Exactly. See now we understand. Ryan: man. Chandler: But, you know, speaking of Indiana, I understand that everybody has to get their shot at, you know, having game day and such. But there's no way in the world we're going to BYU Notre Dame instead of Indiana and Ohio State. Ryan: Okay, well it'll be a closer game, maybe. Notre Dame? Chandler: No. Ryan: Probably not. They'll probably win by a thousand points. And I still think they're a little overrated. But that's for Thursday. Aaron: That is. That is. We'll have to Ryan: Y'all will win by like a hundred. Aaron: We'll have to save that lock in. Chandler: I don't think so, but yeah. Ryan: Indiana's so bad. They're so bad. They're so bad. I can't even believe it. Aaron: But speaking of Ohio State, let's talk about maybe a little less electric of a game that the only one of us here gets to talk about their game this week. So Chandler, take us away. What did we learn about Ohio State when they played Maryland this week? Chandler: Learned that Jeremiah Smith is continuously pretty good at football. four catches for ninety three yards and two touchdowns is pretty efficient work. Ryan: What was Arthur Smith doing? Like, you're ruining his average. You only give him four touches. But and Chandler: Mm. Ryan: the first two he ran for a forty arc touchdown the ball every time, you know? Chandler: Yeah, I mean the biggest thing that stuck out to me was penalties. And Ryan and I talk about this a lot. If you like f pre snap penalties are just it's just a discipline thing. I i it's nothing more than you're just not disciplined. And there was so many. They had eight penalties for sixty five yards. And it's just not acceptable. If you go into Indiana and you have eight penalties, it's gonna be a little harder for you to win the game. Ryan: No. Maybe like team up north or Oregon or something, but sorry, sorry. Chandler: But all in all, I mean, defense I think is continuing to prove that they, you know, have a pulse. Arthur or not Arthur Smith. Matt Patricia is picking things up. He's figuring out what pieces need to go where, make the defense click. And I knew it would take a little more time than you know it did last year because they had a bunch of first round draft picks last year on defense. But he's figuring it out. I think the defense every single week, stopping the run a little better. Their pass pass protection is a little bit better. So I think all in all I don't have a lot of gripe. Again. I mean four hundred fifty yards offense. Could have been five hundred. Aaron: Yeah, just give Jeremiah Smith one more touch and it would have been five hundred. Chandler: Yeah. I mean Ryan: But six hundred. Chandler: i i a really bad play. I mean the two other offensive linemen were were hurt. And well not actually only one of was hurt, one of had a illness. And Isaiah West comes in to chip block as a running back, and that was Julian saying's only interception is pick six. He missed the block, Julian turns around and the the defender is ch is mid hit, so he's mid throw and it gets tipped up pick six. Good thing that defensive touchdown bet was not this week because boy boy Aaron: I know, I know. I felt it. I felt it. I was like, now, now it happens. Of Maryland of all pig all cases. Chandler: But I mean that's just it's something that again has to get cleaned up because you can't have your quarterback taking hits like that. And Julian Sado's getting hit a lot in the past two games. So at some point, you know, you gotta give the man a little more time. Especially when Arthur Smith is notoriously running a lot of RPOs and a lot of things I have to develop a little more. He's running the ball, running the ball, running the ball, and then he takes a lot of deep shots. And you gotta give him time to throw the ball. Because when he has time to throw the ball, it's worked. So Ryan: And you get to see Chandler: We'll see. Ryan: how much trust that Julian had in Jeremiah Smith that he threw it up into quadruple coverage. Severely underthrown, 'cause there's Chandler: Throwing in the triple coverage. Okay. And it should have been interception. Ryan: a guy in his face. Where's Jeremiah? I'm throwing it deep. Chandler: And it should have been an interception. It hit the it hit the D B's chest and it just bounced through his arms. Ryan: But that's why he plays corner. He Aaron: Ohio State's just play an NCAA here. He's just like Jeremiah Smith's on A. He's just mashing A every play. Doesn't even look at the route. Just like, well, it's been about a second and a half. A ball goes that way. Yep. Ryan: Xbox Guy. Chandler: But I mean, you you hold them to a hundred and forty six offensive yards, what you should do. I mean, they're they're starting to do the things that you expect them to do. It may not look as BOA constrictor like as last year. just because you don't have again a bunch of, you know, top ten draft picks that went off like both linebackers go off the board and what, five and six. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: So that's just something you can't really replace. And it it's it's getting figured out. I I'm liking it. I'm not I'm not as stressed as I was after the Texas game. I'm I'm glad to see the upward trajectory of where things are going. Offense is playing great, so Aaron: It it also seems like these types of games where Maryland has struggled all season. Chandler: Mm-hmm. Aaron: They haven't really shown like Iowa, y'all came in like very serious. Like every snap counted, you were pushing it. And because I was defense has been very, very strong. but I felt like with Maryland, y'all let off the gas. Because like after those first two early touchdowns, it was like, okay. Let's throttle back. Let's not bring everything out. Let's let's use this as a little bit of a recuperation game. I think that's a smart call. You know you have a big game next week. Don't go padding stats this week. Just just playing it out. But how does it feel then? Jerizmiah Smith is kind of ruining your opportunity to talk about Ohio State because it is just like, well, what do we have from this game? Jeremiah Smith. still incredible, still looks Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: just as good every game. Chandler: And what's crazy is, and I fell victim to this a little bit. Not as much as I think a lot of the mainstream Ohio State media did and all the message boards and all the different rabbit holes you can get into. But last year, you look at it and you're like, we have the best receiver in the country. Why in the world are we not giving him ten plus targets a game? And it was just like a why can't we just throw it to him every single play, right? Now this year Julian's saying like forty three percent or something, they said it during the game, it's like forty three percent of his throws were targeted to Jeremiah Smith. And now it's like, I sure hope we have other receivers that can catch the ball because once we get into situations where you have to throw it to somebody else, you know, I hope hopefully he can do that and he's not just tunnel on Jeremiah Smith. So we're gonna have to pick a side. If you have the best weapon in the country and he's open, minus the one throw and into quadruple coverage, I really don't think he's made a bad throw. to Jeremiah where he's really truly forced it. That was the first time I felt like he just forced it and threw it down there as a safety net. And so we're gonna have to we're gonna have to pick a side of like, do you want him to throw the ball and Jeremiah a bunch of stats? Because he can take over games. He's done it every single game. Ryan: I want him to throw it a bunch. And I actually think Chandler: Exactly. Ryan: if he wasn't getting sacked, wasn't a terrible throw. He kind of would have snuck through the two safeties, maybe even caught that ball. But I actually think the biggest thing here is that Maryland sucks really bad, but their offense is actually not that bad. They have like a ton of weapons. They have a five star quarterback. They have a five star defenseman. They actually have a lot of talent on the field. And y'all looked and you're like, who's the best team up player on their team? I'm gonna cover Chris Durr. a lot and he just didn't do that good this week. Which is like super great. You can get those star guys. You can shut down. You know, they they didn't have as much offense as they usually do, which is great from a defensive standpoint. And even with all the injuries, you know. Christian Allegro was hurt. Jay Timmons was hurt. And Chandler: Two Timmins. Mm-hmm. Ryan: I think how you brought up the stars from last year, I think it's also hard. Like you have Sonny Styles who converted from a safety, who turns into this really good middle linebacker, but he still has that coverage ability. And then you have like Peyton Pierce trying to like do the same thing. Unacceptable. We get to see Sincere Johnson. I want to see him play more. He's a lot more athletic than Peyton Pierce. Chandler: And I mean, I I think my biggest takeaway for the defense is the defensive line is really coming along. They didn't have any sacks this game, but Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: they had a lot of pressures. And I think there's a lot of different pieces that are starting to come together. Like Edric Houston's playing great. Quay Russo's even getting back there, it's on Kenyatta Jackson's looking a little better. So there's a lot of different pieces. Bo Atkinson with the two stupid penalties, like I don't know why you're just shoving the quarterback down eighteen seconds after the play happened. And that's why they scored one of the seven points. So like stuff like that. But I mean all in all the defensive line is is playing a lot better. And if you can start getting back there with four, maybe every other play, once a drive, something some some kind of situation where you can start getting back there with four and not have to actually send a blitz package, it'll be a lot better. That's what they did in the national championship run with JTT and Jack Sawyer. Ryan: Like why was Bo Atkinson even in to push him down? Chandler: Don't know. Ryan: Why was he playing? Why is Pete Pierce playing? Put Quay Russaw in and Edric Houston and James Smith and get him back there. Chandler: Peyton Pierce actually hasn't been that bad recently. Ryan: He's okay. He's one of the guys like he could be good. But you have another Chandler: Yes. Ryan: guy that like he is very good. Why are you playing the guy that could be good? Chandler: Like Riley Pettigon and T J. Alford theoretically should be your st starting linebackers. Ryan: They're great. And then they should be getting Sincere Johnson ready to be that guy next year. Chandler: Agree. But that's all I got. It was a good game. Ryan: Yeah, we digress. Chandler: Couple of good games coming up this weekend that we'll talk about on Thursday, including Ohio State Indiana. Aaron: yeah. But enough of all this Big Ten talk. It's boring to us Chandler: Yeah, sorry. Aaron: SEC fans. so let's go back to the SEC. Let's talk about sloppy game of football. Let's talk Tennessee, Arkansas. Ryan: I mean Arkansas was leading this game in Tennessee Aaron: At one point, which is shocking. Ryan: and Tennessee like not that good. We saw last week, I don't remember who they played, but they looked so bad their quarterback got pulled out and stuff. And then they were pressuring this new guy and he couldn't get anything done. And they decided to stop pressuring him. And they were able to throw it a little better. Deshaun Bishop was able to run the ball all over them. And that's not good, and they came back at one. Chandler: No, I also like Tennessee's a weird one because I like For as long as I can remember, I've never seen a starting quarterback just go off the rails so much that you have to be taken out of a game. And you're this five-star super hyped guy, Tennessee won the battle in the recruiting to get him on the on started. Looked great in the beginning, had a lot of promise, and then all of sudden that just the wheels fall off. And I get like you're a college kid, a lot of expectations, you're getting paid all this money, you have a lot of outside noise beating down on you. But that was like a head scratcher almost of like how in the world did it collapse so fast? So now it going into week seven, like you're st still not super solidified on your quarterback slot. Yeah, you've been starting the same guy the past what two weeks now. But i that's not a good look going into week seven. So good thing Mr. Bishop can run the ball well. Ryan: Mm-hmm. And they were just a more physical Aaron: It's just something we see. it's just something we're seeing over and over again is that Tennessee's defense is keeping them competitive in these games. Because the offense Chandler: Jim Knowles. Aaron: is just Ryan: Derek Owens. Aaron: Yeah. It's just been anemic. Like it it is something where you're just seeing like three and outs, maybe a first down. Where they're moving and then it's like up to a big play to get points. And you Chandler: Derek Owens Jim Knowles connection. Ryan: Jim. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: they take steroids to go to the gym and that's how they get so huge and physical for Jim Knowles to be able to put them out there. Not Aaron: Once again, a legend. Yes. Ryan: a legend. Have you looked at Deshaun Bishop? Aaron: Strong allegedly. No legal Ryan: No. Aaron: ramifications for run after cast. These are Ryan's personal beliefs that I happen to think Ryan: Okay, okay. I'll give I'll give them an ultimatum. Aaron: might be correct. Ryan: You either you either put them all on better diets, where they're already on better diets because they're already at your school before your new drink program comes in, and you give them a lot more carbohydrates and water. So then the glycogen shows up more and you use a DEXA scam, which has an 8% tolerance, that it could get it really wrong, or they took steroids and actually gained muscle while losing fat. And that's why Tushawn Bishop looks like like ridiculous and your defense is really good. So they're Pipon. They either lie they either lie about Chandler: So moving on to Indiana, Nebraska. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: messing with the numbers or they lie about the steroids. But they beat Arkansas. Aaron: Just give it to your offense too. So whatever you're doing for your defense, questionable allegedly or not, put that in your offense right now. Double their toes. Ryan: Yeah. It hasn't helped the phase. Aaron: Yeah. It is it's rough to watch right now. And Arkansas The true disaster, I think, of the SEC right now. And I feel bad. Like it is just punching down. It doesn't feel good to have Arkansas in display. Chandler: I did see it was funny that Arkansas's fan base said that they were gonna start storming the field after every single game in order to get Ark Aaron: It it is one guy saying it, but I think it's brilliant. Chandler: It's a storm the field and like have the find of force the coach to leave or they put Aaron: to to take out the athletic director. One guy is on this like hashtag storm the field. Chandler: That's hilarious. Aaron: brilliant decision. Like you know you're in a good place when that happens. Ryan: I know an o I know another school that needs to do that. But I'm not allowed to talk about them this week. Aaron: well, what a shame. Ryan: But they should also do it. Aaron: But I do think that's funny. I think that's getting creative as a fan base. I did want to talk about Arkansas. Like I I it feels bad that they're here, but when you punt when you're down with three minutes left on the clock, it was somewhere around that time period. And I was like, what are you doing? Well, you're Arkansas. You have Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: the ball in your hands right now. You are behind. You don't trust your defense because you're Arkansas. I don't trust your offense or your defense. But one situation means you have the ball in the hand, the other ones you're kicking it away. I just was like, that is that's loser football to me. I didn't like it. I I was like, you gotta Will Stein would never. And you need to ask yourself if you are making a call as an Arkansas coach. You need to say what would Will Stein do here and make that happen. Ryan: If you've ever watched Young Sheldon, he said that it statistically never makes sense to not go for it on fourth down punt. But especially when you're losing and you're not gonna get the ball again, how in the world are you gonna score points? You're not scoring a defensive touchdown. How else do you expect to score points? So that means Aaron: You're not getting a three and out. Yeah. Ryan: Yeah, that means zero sense. They're just gonna run the clock down because they have Deshaun Bishop, who is just bigger and stronger than you because he's on the Derek Owen strength program and they're just gonna run it and pound it in. And waste a bunch of time. So there is loser football. And this brings up another point that we've talked about before. Teams like Maryland and like Iowa that play like Ohio State, why in the world would they ever punt? They're just making it look Chandler: That's a c Ryan: more graceful. That like you're not gonna lose. Chandler: That's a crazy grouping there. Ryan: I'm not gonna lose a hundred to nothing. I'm gonna pump the ball every time. Go for it like every single fourth down. Every single fourth down. Just go for it. You already lost. Have some fun. Try to not lose. Chandler: Crazy team grouping there. Ryan: What? Chandler: Iowa and Maryland, a ranked Iowa team and a Maryland team that hasn't won a big ten game. Aaron: Poor Iowa. Iowa doesn't deserve. Ryan: Sorry, I Chandler: It's all it's it's all it's Ryan. Ryan just likes dogging on the Big Ten. He does. That's always what he does. Aaron: He's he Well Ryan: I'm not. I'm just saying teams that we talk about that are relevant and teams that have happened to I was saying I'm not allowed to talk about Auburn this week, so I couldn't talk about any SEC team we've played. Like what Aaron: Auburn should also not punt. Chandler: It's like grouping that's like grouping like Auburn and like Arkansas. They should never punt. Yeah. They Aaron: Hey, some may say that's closer than Iowa, Maryland, Ryan: Maybe this year. Aaron: right now. Ryan: I don't know. Chandler: And none of those four teams should ever point, I guess. So speaking of a powerhouse Big Ten team, Indiana and Nebraska, Ryan, what was your opinion on that game? Ryan: I thought Nebraska played a great game and I loved Chandler: Their quarterback's great. Ryan: I loved their quarterback. Aaron: Yes. Ryan: He was throwing, he was running, but every time he actually had to had to drop back and to make a throw, he couldn't do it. But they were running the ball, he was running the ball, he was kind of extending plays, and that's the only time they were actually able to throw the ball was when things broke down. So that's not good. You can't win like that. But you're just absolutely shutting down Indiana the entire game, and they have one slant. Th they break for like a ninety yard touchdown or something ca 'cause Nick Marsh is just a good football player and you're running cover zero for some reason against Indiana. I don't know. But Josh Hoover, bad. I don't know how Nebraska's not ranked. They were undefeated going into that. And if this is a George Alabama situation, they should really be right behind Indiana. But this is just another week to show just because Indiana won the championship and their Heisman quarterback that's not there and they're wearing the same uniforms, doesn't mean they should be a number five team. 'Cause you almost lose to a northwestern team, you almost lose to an unranked Nebraska team. Every week you're just slobbing it out and barely winning. And until they finally lose that game, they're not gonna move back at all because they're still undefeated on paper. Which I don't think that's very acceptable. Aaron: See, I want to take a counterpoint here. I think Indiana's getting a lot of flack about like, what games have they struggled in? Nebraska, Northwestern. These are teams that are showing, like, as they continue to play, we're like, these are real teams. Like they're they're playing really well. And when we're talking about dropping them down, Indiana's had a much more challenging schedule than I think we would have predicted that they would have had. Because of the teams are playing at a different level than we would have assumed in the preseason. So when we're saying they're facing these unranked threats, all of these are criminally not ranked. Like these should be teams that they have played a ranked team or a should be ranked team every week now at this point. Like they're coming up. So I think we are being harsh on Indiana. And I think that's going to start showing up. And While we're still giving I know you're not giving a pass to Notre Dame or to Miami, where it's like, what's Miami's hard schedule? Or Notre Dame, Notre Dame gets to play Miami and BYU. Those are the two teams that kind of exist for Miami this year. or for Notre Dame. Chandler: Yeah. And I'm not comparing the two fully, but it's the same kind of situation with like Kirby Smart when they won the national championship and then he was undefeated and then still proceeded to not lose any games the next year. Same kind of situation. Indiana's lost a game in twenty two games. So like until I feel like they lose, you're gonna keep them up there in the top ten because they haven't lost. And that's the same thing they did with Georgia. Ryan: Except it's not the same at all. That Georgia won almost three years straight up games and had huge roster turnover that you almost had the same team every year. You kept Stetson Bennett until Carson Beck came in. But Carson Beck even played a little bit the year before and they still won games. But this year, it's not like they just struggled against Nebraska and struggled against Northwestern. You are losing to these teams who, yes, they might be unranked and they might be able to be a high teens, low twenties team. But you're the fifth best team in the country. You should be able to beat every single team except for like Ohio State and Georgia and like people way up there, apparently Miami, whatever. You're supposed to be able to beat all these teams. And you were losing the entire game. And the other teams, it's like we joke about, they just can't take it. And they just give you the game. Which I think that's why. Like they're a good team. I just don't think they are the fifth best team. And I think they look super vulnerable. Aaron: But they've been, they've been sitting in the five to ten slot this whole time, where Texas has done the exact same thing all season. Like winning games by three against teams they should have no right being in that kind of position for and have slat like solidified in the top position because of the Ohio State win. And so I think it's like we can have a comparative, because I also agree. I think this is not the same caliper of team that Indiana had last year. I think their quarterback is not Mendoza. But Ryan: Mm. Aaron: do I think as of right now that I'd write them out? I think it would be a a huge mistake. I think they are still developing, they're still clicking. We'll see this next stretch of big name teams that they're coming up against to really prove that medal. Chandler: I also think it's like a usually there's like a one two team, maybe even more than that, that are like really, really juggernaut teams that's like that's your solidified one two team right there. And like this year there's really not a full complete team that's clicked every single game, that's just beat everybody convincingly, that's just done what they're supposed to do every single year. And I think that's like the top ten really is just a free for all. And I do think that there's a lot more wiggle room throughout the rankings than most years. I don't think there is a solidified like number one team other than maybe Georgia that's like come out and be Alabama. But Aaron: I would say Georgia would be the only argument, yeah. Chandler: but I mean like yeah, Indiana maybe hasn't proven anything, but I couldn't sit here and tell you confidently that the teams that are ahead of them they would lose to every single one of them. Ryan: could. I'm saying I think they've proven to me they are vulnerable. Josh, who like they're actually having receivers, they're actually Chandler: Yeah, but so has every team. Every team's done that. Ryan: having receivers get open that Fernando Mendoza wouldn't have missed, and he's like missing them. And they're only up there because they had Fernando not missing them last year. And I think that a lot of these other teams the only other one I'd really say yes, Notre Dame and Miami haven't proven yes or no yet. BYU has proven they shouldn't be up there. I mean you're losing to TCU, you barely beat Arizona. Like they probably shouldn't be up there. You're playing low level ACC Chandler: But what I'm saying is that Ryan: talent. Chandler: I don't th I don't see a team in the country that has not shown significant vulnerability. Maybe outside of Georgia. I think anybody can be anybody in that top ten. Ryan: I think it Indiana has I think BY I think Indiana and BYU would lose to every single team in the top ten except maybe each other. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Like you would beat them by a hundred. If okay, if they played Ohio State, if BYU and Indiana Chandler: That's one team. But they're going to this Ryan: separately play in play Ohio State, what's the score? Chandler: We're gonna this weekend. Aaron: Yep, this is this weekend. And so we'll have to save that one for Thursday since that's coming right up. Same with Notre Dame and BYU. We'll have some schedule provers this weekend. But no, I I am too. Ryan: And I'm excited. I'm excited. We'll see. Aaron: I really am because I do think specifically in Notre Dame's case, where they have not had a speed pump of something to really test them. And I think that's coming. We're gonna see which one. is up there. But I I just think I'm with Chandler here. I'm riding Indiana. I'm riding on Signetti until they give me a loss to to say, okay, this is one they shouldn't have lost to. Ryan: That's fair, I guess. That's what the committee's doing. So Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: There's just not a team that's like that's proven that they're just like night and day better. Aaron: Yeah, I mean we can look it's chaos across the board. I do feel like it's it it's open. Chandler: There's vo there's there's problems and issues on every single team in the top twenty five. Ryan: I understand that. I understand that. It's okay. No, it's okay. Aaron: He just doesn't like it. Ryan: I'm I'm very logical when it comes to this, but I'll digress. We'll see this week. Chandler: But if Indiana loses on Saturday, they should stay at number five. Like Alabama did, number six. Aaron: No, that's SEC privilege. That's all that's that's for us. Ryan: When they lose by thirty five points, they should not be in Chandler: Whoa, whoa, that's pretty that that's that's the different episode. And we're not Ryan: This isn't a prediction. I'm saying when that happens, they shouldn't be number five. But it's okay. I'll digress. I digress. Chandler: They're not gonna lose by thirty five points. Aaron: It's okay, they're big ten. Ryan: I digress. Aaron: They'll drop. They'll be unranked. Chandler: Of course they will. Ryan: They won't. They won't. They're gonna do the Alabama thing and leave Chandler: They're not going to. Aaron: Nah, nah, that's only for us. That's our special that's our special little bonus we get. but to round it out, let's talk about a team that doesn't get the SEC privilege of staying where they are when they get upset. Let's talk. UCLA and Oregon. Chandler: I mean Oregon alone had seven turnovers. Seven. Seven turnovers. Aaron: An insane amount of turnovers. Chandler: I don't know how many w were in the full game, but there was at least seven. And I think you can never win a game with seven turnovers. And by golly, they almost did. It was 17 to 15. I don't I mean it was just a catastrophe of a game for both teams. And I think Oregon's downward spiral as simple as stems from both their coordinators got promoted within and it just doesn't work. Very rarely does it work. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: And I'm sorry, Chandler: All Ryan: I'm sorry for being an o organ homer for one week. I shouldn't have been tricked like that. They got me really good. Dylan Aaron: Yeah. You got punished. Yeah. Ryan: Rayola was terrible. He looked like like maybe even worse than Dante Moore. He was really, really bad. But UCLA is actually really good. They have Knight, he just continues to run around. I mean, Nico didn't even look that bad. They don't even really have to throw the ball. They only had eight hundred passing yards going into that game. You know, and they were just out physically Oregon. I know we've talked about before going into this year. They're saying Oregon has the best D line in the country, and they're just getting pushed around by like Boise State and these other teams, UCLA. Chandler: How in the world can we say that UCLA is really good when they won by two points on a seven turnover margin? How in the world are we gonna homer that but we're gonna just absolutely destroy Indiana? It's unbelievable. Aaron: Yeah, I that Ryan: They're really good. For an unranked team For an unranked team they're really good. Now yeah, now they are. They beat O Oregon, who's the best team in the country with Donorilla. You know what I'm saying? Chandler: UCLA's ranked. They're like 15th. They were ranked before. They were like 21st. This Aaron: Yeah, they w This is th This is crazy town. Chandler: is unbelievable. I I seven turnovers and they win by two points. And we're gonna say they're really good. Great. That's it's it's unble un no no no, it's unbelievable. Die on the hill. Or UCLA is you should put UCLA Ryan: Well, Oregon's that bad. Oregon's terrible. Oregon's terrible. Aaron: Ha ha ha. Chandler: up there at seven. They're really good. Ryan: They played good. They got seven Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: they forced seven turnovers against Oregon. Chandler: And only scored ten more points than they had turnovers. Ryan: Yeah, I know, they're not that good. They've only had eight hundred Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, that's it's crazy. Chandler: You just said they're really good. Come on. No no, pick one. Ryan: yards going Nico y Nico I am Aleva or whatever ever you say. He's not good. Chandler: He is I'm a leaving because he's hurt the rest of the year. Ryan: I know he's we know he's he like wasn't good. I know and their backup came in too. You're giving him too Chandler: That's incredible. No no no. Ryan: much too much stuff here. Aaron: No, I I Chandler: What no you're giving him too much stuff by saying they're really Ryan: Too much bad stuff. Chandler: good. Ryan: I'm giving too much No no no. They're not r They were good. They're good at Chandler: You said really good. Those are the words. They are really good. Aaron: He Ryan: running the ball. They're good at running the ball. They were good. Nico's hurt. he was still wasn't that great. They still beat Oregon, they forced seven turnovers. Chandler: This is unbelievable. Ryan: They forced Aaron: This Chandler: Usually Ryan: Patrick Mahomes to have seven turn out. Chandler: UCLA is the best quarterback or best team in the country. Ryan: No, no, no, no. They're still probably overrated. They're Aaron: Listen, Ryan: probably like eighteen. Aaron: we gotta give Ryan some leeway here. Chandler: No. Aaron: He is suffering from whiplash. His brain has been rattled with how fast he got on the organ bus and how quick that crashed into a mountain and he's hobbling out. He's in a daze. He's in a stupor. So yeah. No, I I completely agree that like if a team turns over the ball seven times, that's like Chandler: You should win by fifty. Ryan: can't win a game. Aaron: That's Rudgers wins with that kind of turnover ratio. Ryan: What they have one I think they had one third down I think they had one third down conversion. What were they one for thirteen? Chandler: Oregon was four four for twelve. Ryan: Four for twelve. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: That's terrible. You can't win a football game like that. That's unacceptable. Aaron: Yeah. Or Oregon did all the things that you can't do if you like this is something where I think you could tell me any team in the country and you go into it and guess one of the teams had seven turnovers. I'd go, They lost. They should. Chandler: Of course. Ryan: Like bad. Chandler: But y you spotted them seven seven Ryan: Bad. But no, you l you only lose by three. Chandler: possessions you spotted them. And you lose Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: by points. Aaron: Yeah. Which it's like on both. Ryan: But remember, Oregon's gonna win the national championship. Remember that. Aaron: Not anymore. yeah. Chandler: I never picked that. The national Ryan: Every single person ever that's not Chandler: in the national media did. Ryan: us said that. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Yeah, I know. It's uncharacteristic of them as well. They like throwing that around. Chandler: No, but U C L A, I mean, they're a really good football program and they they came out there and they inflicted their will. Ryan: No, they played good. no, Oregon really played bad. You beat yourself seven turnovers. Aaron: Yes, this is this is a case of like it's the NC State fumble in the end zone moment. Like you lost the game, Oregon. Like UCLA just showed up. And it's like, did they get a first down on a turnover? They've scored. Like you can't give a team seven extra turnovers. Chandler: I mean, yeah, I mean I guess their defense showed up, but like I would argue that their offense is still in UCLA. Aaron: Yeah. Because you only needed one guy. You could have just put the kicker out there and you could have scored seventeen Ryan: They're in one dimensional. They could Wayne Knight. Chandler: Yeah. Aaron: points. Ryan: I think his first name's Wayne. Mr. Knight. He's the only one that can run that ball. Chandler: This wasn't a master class by UCLA other than their defense. Aaron: Yeah. This is this is the Florida Ryan: I would almost argue like Aaron: SMU game all over again. Chandler: 'Cause Ryan: Their defense was only okay. Yeah, that's that's amazing. But Oregon's not good. I Chandler: forcing seven turnovers is good. No no no. They're really good. No no no. They're really good. Aaron: Yeah. absolutely. Ryan: said this game was good because I hate organ. But I was an Oregon Homer until Chandler: No, you said U C L A is really good. Ryan: I saw Dylan Riola gets me negative two points in fantasy. I picked him up for this game. So that I could Dude. Aaron: Hey, remember you did. You were like, listen, Oregon wins the rest of the season. They take the whole thing if Dylan Rayola is the quarterback. Now now it's like, give us Dante Moore. Where's he at? How's he doing? Somebody check up on him. Yeah. This is something that it's like. Ryan: No, I don't want Dante more either. He would have had eight turnovers. I hope you have a good recovery though. I'm really sorry. Aaron: Yeah. Dylan Rayola, I hope you also recover from this because this was a lie. And Yeah, I just I I just don't see a path back from this for Oregon. Like they're gonna have to really tighten things up, but if you're turning that ball over on that ratio and we'll just if Dante Moore's back in the next game, we'll have to see. But I just don't know. We'll have some serious discussion about this Thursday next week, I do think they're going up against a team that plays really good, as Ryan would say. I think they're going up against Nebraska. And I'm a Nebraska stand now. So I'm gonna root for Nebraska like Ryan rooted for Oregon. So they got one week to impress me. Ryan: I think Nebraska's good. I think Indiana's just very vulnerable Chandler: No, you don't. Ryan: as well. I I think that they actually can't like throw the ball very well when they have to, but they might just out physical Oregon because their defensive line's actually not that great as everyone thought they were. So I w again, this prediction, you'll see. Come back. You'll see. Aaron: Please come back. Ryan: I'm gonna talk about some other team next Chandler: Yeah. Ryan: week that I'm not allowed to talk about right now. Chandler: Phew, we've all missed that. Ryan: For an hour. Aaron: For an hour. Yeah. Come back next Ryan: I sure am mentioning it a lot. Aaron: Yeah. Come back next Monday. You're like Kirby's smart here. You're really bending it. You're lucky you you got the refs in your pocket. but no. Next week we'll be back. Ryan will be back. We'll we'll allocate an hour to talk about why Auburn lost. But I I think overall this was a very exciting weekend of football. It was a good sanctuary for us. for what we could watch on the TV.
