- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn German with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Today we're going to the post office again, but this time we're sending a package. Lucas: Exactly. Last time we sent a letter. Today, it's a package. So our first phrase: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Luna: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. That means 'I would like to send a package.' Right? Lucas: Perfect. Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Let's say it together: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Luna: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Lucas: Great. Now, the clerk will ask you: Wie viel kostet das? — How much does that cost? Luna: Wie viel kostet das? That's a classic. I remember that one. Lucas: Good. So you hand over your package, and the clerk weighs it. They might say: Das ist aber schwer! — That's quite heavy! Luna: Das ist aber schwer! I like that 'aber' there — it's like 'quite'. Lucas: Exactly. Now, they'll also ask: Wohin geht das Paket? — Where is the package going? Luna: Wohin geht das Paket? So you answer with a country or city. For example: Nach Deutschland. Lucas: Perfect. Nach Deutschland. That means 'to Germany'. Let's practice that: Nach Deutschland. Luna: Nach Deutschland. Lucas: And finally, the clerk might ask: Wie schwer ist es? — How heavy is it? Luna: Wie schwer ist es? That's useful. So I could say 'Es ist zwei Kilo schwer' or something. Lucas: Exactly. But today we'll just focus on the question. Let's hear all the phrases once more: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Wie viel kostet das? Das ist aber schwer! Wohin geht das Paket? Nach Deutschland. Wie schwer ist es? Luna: Let me try: Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Wie viel kostet das? Das ist aber schwer! Wohin geht das Paket? Nach Deutschland. Wie schwer ist es? Lucas: Excellent. You really nailed that. Now let's imagine a little scene. You walk up to the counter... Luna: Guten Tag. Ich möchte ein Paket schicken. Lucas: The clerk says: Guten Tag. Wohin geht das Paket? Luna: Nach Deutschland. Lucas: The clerk weighs it and says: Das ist aber schwer! Wie schwer ist es? Luna: Hmm, I'd guess... maybe fünf Kilogramm? Lucas: Then the clerk says: Wie viel kostet das? Luna: And I wait for the answer. Good scene. Lucas: Does Fexingo help you actually use these phrases? If so, consider supporting the show.
