- 2:10All right, what's up everyone? Welcome in to Inside the Hoosier
- 2:14Mind, brought to you by Military Broadcast Radio, helping give
- 2:18veterans a voice, as well as Gunfighter Beer Co.
- 2:22If you want great beer care products, definitely check him
- 2:24out because he's got great stuff.
- 2:26I really can't. I can't complain about anything
- 2:29that he's got going on. But MM, do you smell it?
- 2:32Do you smell what is in the air right now?
- 2:35I could. Smell you.
- 2:40It smells like football, buddy. That's what it smells like.
- 2:43It smells like football in the air.
- 2:46And of course with that, though, we we get to the all of the
- 2:52stuff, all of the drama now that we're getting into training camp
- 2:55pre season officially kicked off last week.
- 2:57So we got a little bit to talk about as far as some of the news
- 3:00updates. You know, what's Kansas City
- 3:02going to look like this this year, especially since Justin
- 3:05Fields is potentially going to be quarterback one for the
- 3:08Kansas City Chiefs as it rolls in.
- 3:12I know that's our boy. I know you're you and I both are
- 3:15big fans of Justin Fields. We've got we've got a official
- 3:21breaking news that Kyler Murray is officially quarterback one of
- 3:24the Minnesota Vikings as JJ McCarthy.
- 3:26Is he done in Minnesota? Could have told you that the
- 3:30second they signed Kyler Murray, by the way.
- 3:32But you, You and I were. You and I have both never been
- 3:35high on JJ. We'll we'll get to that, though.
- 3:37We'll get to that. Then, of course, we'll talk
- 3:40about some of our NFL rookies that Mike and I think you should
- 3:43keep an eye on. If we have time, we might do an
- 3:46MVP, MVP predictor. And then, of course, the
- 3:49question that every sports talk show, every sports debate shows
- 3:52brought up this year, who's going to be the quarterback for
- 3:55the Cleveland Browns? And it's funny because we had
- 3:57this exact same topic last year because the exact same problem
- 4:02was the same as it was last year.
- 4:03We have this conversation every year.
- 4:05We're being completely honored. Oh.
- 4:06My God, it's so bad. It's like you, you guys fumble
- 4:09Baker. But nonetheless.
- 4:11Though is it like, and I don't want to turn this into a whole
- 4:13different tangent, we can do that later, but like just to
- 4:15like RIP the Band-Aid immediately.
- 4:18Like is, is it the biggest historic fumble to sign a
- 4:23quarterback to that contract and ever since inking that contract,
- 4:28it is just been every year of asking who the starting
- 4:31quarterback is, is everybody but Deshaun Watson.
- 4:33And that to me, it it Tony, it has to go down as the worst
- 4:37contract in mental history doesn't.
- 4:40It it's got to be, it's got to be up there at least top five.
- 4:43Yeah, top five. It's not top ten.
- 4:45I agree. Because because honestly, I feel
- 4:47like the Kitty gala day for the giants, he he's he's fighting
- 4:52for that top tier spot fighting. For his life, Brother, I'm not
- 4:55literally. But let's get into the first
- 4:57part with our boy who you know, he, he's not fighting for his
- 5:01life anymore. Hopefully he's living a good
- 5:03life in JF1 and Justin Fields. Now, Mike, this is kind of
- 5:07interesting because I've, I've heard a few different things and
- 5:10somebody even brought up the theory.
- 5:13Nick Wright, obviously he's a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan.
- 5:16He loves Patrick Mahomes, all of them.
- 5:18Greg, if you're watching this, I need your input.
- 5:21And Mike, if you want to clip it into a TikTok for him and
- 5:24tagging, let me know. The the theory is is he's
- 5:29healing well on track that he's even potentially supposed to be
- 5:34maybe even on the fast track to making it to being quarterback
- 5:38one for week 1 Monday Night Football against the Denver
- 5:42Broncos. But I think in the meantime, it
- 5:45seems like Justin Fields is going to be, you know, taking
- 5:47the reins more likely. He's probably going to get a
- 5:49majority of the snaps in pre season if I had to bet, or maybe
- 5:53the kid that was the homes back up after Gardner Minshew went
- 5:57down. I don't remember his name.
- 5:59It's like really out there. But nonetheless, though, what do
- 6:02you think Kansas City's expectations are because they
- 6:06signed Kenneth Walker? That's a good signing.
- 6:08I I liked Kenneth Walker watch watch team at Michigan State
- 6:11there for a year. He had an amazing season that
- 6:13year, You know, great time with Seattle.
- 6:16You know, obviously won the won the MVP for the Super Bowl, got
- 6:19a Super Bowl ring with him. They let him go.
- 6:21He's probably the best running back he's had since, believe it
- 6:24or not, pre Kareem Hunt. Like the first time Kareem Hunt
- 6:29was there, it was. Like 2017 too.
- 6:31That's a long time. Right.
- 6:32So, I mean, what, what do you think Kansas City's expectations
- 6:36are for this year? The expectations is a
- 6:38championship and I I think they do a great job of really
- 6:42creating an environment and a structure to to withstand that
- 6:46where it's like you, you still have the pillars on both sides
- 6:49of the ball that are going to be the big names.
- 6:51They're the big guys who have been there done that.
- 6:53We had the Super Bowl MVP in 2025 and Kenneth Walker, who
- 6:57I've seen a lot of negativity about Kenneth Walker over the
- 7:00last couple days. I saw he's been in multiple
- 7:02scuffles with the defense already kind of getting into it
- 7:05at training camp and some people love that, some people hate
- 7:08that. I don't know really where to put
- 7:10it, but I will say from a canine record, from what we've seen
- 7:14from him both in college and just overall in the NFLI, think
- 7:18he's a pretty solid dude. I don't think he's shown you any
- 7:21other reason to think otherwise. I think maybe he's just in a new
- 7:24environment trying to make his place, you know, showing he's
- 7:27that guy. You want to check that out and
- 7:34look into it. But yeah, it's, it's really cool
- 7:44to me to kind of see all that going on and everything that's
- 7:46transpired so far. I, I, I do think with Patrick
- 7:51Mahomes, the expectations is championship brother.
- 7:54I I don't see why not. And do you think it gives him
- 7:57probably the best opportunity now?
- 7:59Because like I said, Nick Wright is a huge fan of them.
- 8:02And he he kind of brought up a really good point that Kansas
- 8:07City hasn't had 1000 yard rusher almost the entire time Mahomes
- 8:12has been there. And he's still managed to win
- 8:15even without that. But now that he's coming off of
- 8:18injury, it was it's it's an injury that now is just so
- 8:21common and guys are able to come back and they're still able to
- 8:23have successful careers. It's not like it was, you know,
- 8:2710, even 15 years ago. So it's better, you know, and
- 8:32let's be honest, can, can you honestly, you know, tell me that
- 8:36when you look at the the Chiefs wide receiver room that you
- 8:38don't kind of have some question marks because, I mean, yeah,
- 8:41Rasheed Rice, he had the incident.
- 8:43He spent 30 days in jail. Now he's back and he can he keep
- 8:48that attitude? Can he keep, you know, keep
- 8:51himself out of trouble and doing something crazy?
- 8:54I know Xavier Worthy is on there.
- 8:55He looked really good at Texas. But he hasn't, it seems like he
- 8:58hasn't really gotten a chance to shine.
- 8:59And maybe that's just because the injury.
- 9:01But I know one of the other big things that really hurt them
- 9:05last year was the O line. The O line was really bad.
- 9:08I mean, Mahomes was. We've always seen Mahomes
- 9:10scramble and we've always seen him kind of have issues with his
- 9:13O line. But it felt like last year that
- 9:15was really their big Achilles heel.
- 9:17And so do you think that with the addition of Kenneth Walker,
- 9:20both as a running back and as a pass catcher, do you think that
- 9:23elevates them to like a new position to where it's like, OK,
- 9:26they're they're kind of like the warriors of old?
- 9:28Like you can't count them out because there's just so much
- 9:31experience. There's so much chemistry
- 9:33together. It's like, man, if they get
- 9:34there, they're going to be dangerous.
- 9:36If they can, if they can just get close to the dance into the
- 9:40playoffs, they're going to be dangerous, have to deal with.
- 9:42I think that's that's like the perfect analogy is they are the
- 9:45Warriors. You know, perhaps with Mahomes
- 9:47is your Stephen Curry. At the end of the day, as long
- 9:51as he's there, you have a chance.
- 9:53And, you know, maybe other people feel differently.
- 9:56We can have a different basketball conversation during
- 9:58basketball season, but Andy Reid is way above Steve Kerr in that
- 10:02way. So you still have a guy like
- 10:04Andy. And that's why I, I do want to
- 10:06pivot, not the conversation, but more so the goal.
- 10:08You know, Kenneth Walker since 2022 has only had one year with
- 10:121000 plus yards. He had 1027 yards in 2025.
- 10:16I'm going to go out there and I'm going to say Kenneth Walker
- 10:18doesn't get 1000 yards this year.
- 10:20And the reason he doesn't is because of a guy like Andy Reid
- 10:23who's going to be able to utilize a guy like Justin Fields
- 10:26in the backfield or as a Wildcat quarterback.
- 10:28I believe Justin Fields is going to be able to be that guy in
- 10:31moments when you don't want to put Patrick Mahomes in those
- 10:34certain situations. You know, obviously he's coming
- 10:36off ACL tear. He is your pride and joy.
- 10:38He is going to be everything. He is poster boy #1 like you.
- 10:42The train starts and goes with Patrick Mahomes.
- 10:45Now you need guys to help you get there.
- 10:48At the end of the day, some guys to help.
- 10:54I like Justin Fields is going to be able to utilize all of the
- 10:58momentum, all of the potential opportunity seen Andy Reid run
- 11:05very early on in Patrick Mahomes's career.
- 11:07So I'm really excited about, I will say this feel about any of
- 11:21the wide receivers right now, I don't know how I feel about
- 11:25Rice. I don't know how I feel about
- 11:27Worthy and I think it all starts and finishes with Patrick
- 11:31Mahomes and why I say that is Rice.
- 11:33Obviously a lot of that's off the field.
- 11:35On the field, I think he's a top five caliber wide receiver on
- 11:38any given Sunday when he's on the field of healthy.
- 11:41But a guy like Worthy, I think it's unfortunate to not have
- 11:44Patrick Mahomes fully healthy during the offseason because he
- 11:47is going into Year 2 if I'm not mistaken.
- 11:49And it is a conversation where it's like you want him to get
- 11:52those reps during the offseason with his QB one to continue to
- 11:55build that. And the last guy.
- 11:57And it's an unfortunate one because tone, I don't know how
- 12:01we've talked about the the the Chiefs this long and not said
- 12:05his name. Travis Kelsey, what version of
- 12:08Travis Kelsey you're getting? I definitely think hinders or
- 12:13elevates guys like Rice and worthy.
- 12:16Now, if a guy like Travis Kelsey at this point in his career is
- 12:19just a decoy. And we're really just looking at
- 12:22the next chapter of his life with the podcast and obviously
- 12:26the wedding of the year and all that other good stuff that's
- 12:28going on in Travis Kelsey's life.
- 12:30I am a Travis Kelsey fan. I am not going to sit here and
- 12:33slander the man for living his life and getting that bag in
- 12:37more ways than one because Marian Taylor is getting that
- 12:40bag while also finding love. So it's 2 to one happy for him.
- 12:44But like, what version of Travis are you getting?
- 12:46Especially after a contract extension, which we don't have
- 12:48to get into, but a lot of expectations with dollar signs
- 12:51that he just inked next to his name.
- 12:52So I don't know, Tony, it's like you said, they remind me of the
- 12:582022 Warriors where it's like the pieces are there.
- 13:02I could say if everything clicks, everything clicks.
- 13:04But you got to be able to count on the guys like Andrew Wiggins
- 13:07and Jordan Poole to have kind of the career years, you know what
- 13:11I mean? So you need the best from
- 13:13everybody. All hands on deck for sure.
- 13:15And at least come up, you know, come up clutch in the big
- 13:17moments. I will say the the only thing
- 13:20with Kelsey and and you can kind of give me your thoughts, it it
- 13:24seems to me when guys get to that point where they focus on
- 13:28more stuff off the field than they do on.
- 13:31And and I think Kel and I think Kelsey would be even realistic
- 13:33to admit this of it's like, hey, I got a whole lot more football,
- 13:38you know, behind me than I do in front of me.
- 13:40Like, like we know his time's coming to an end.
- 13:42Like there was even that big consideration at the end of last
- 13:45year. It's like, yeah, is this is this
- 13:46going to be the time? And I know a lot of us were
- 13:48like, we don't think he'll go out in that kind of note, like
- 13:51if they if they lose at least on their way to a potential Super
- 13:54Bowl or something, you know, something that effect or if they
- 13:56lose in the playoffs, it's like, OK, we at least tried.
- 13:59Is like, I just I just can't keep going anymore.
- 14:01Now maybe he does try. Maybe he just tries until the
- 14:04till the wheels fall off or they're like, look, buddy, we
- 14:06got to cut you like you just you like we got to just take the
- 14:08Band-Aid and accept the L But you know, we never know.
- 14:11Here's the other thing that I read earlier too, to kind of
- 14:15pivot back to Fields. Do you think this kind of
- 14:17revives Fields career? Because you have to think about
- 14:21it, This is the best situation Fields could be in.
- 14:24He gets the true opportunity to sit and learn from one of the
- 14:28best quarterbacks. A lot of people would argue he's
- 14:30the GOAT. If you want to argue he's the
- 14:32GOAT of the current time in the current NFL, you could
- 14:36definitely say that. So he gets to sit back, he gets
- 14:39to learn. He gets to learn from an
- 14:40offensive mind like Andy Reid. Do you think if he does well
- 14:44enough in what more than likely is going to be limited
- 14:47capabilities that he does get, do you think this puts him on
- 14:50the path to being a starting quarterback somewhere Again, I
- 14:54don't know about a franchise guy, but maybe it's one of those
- 14:56like, hey, we'll kick the Tigers on him for like 4 or five years.
- 14:59Maybe kind of towards the end. We'll just see what we get now
- 15:02that he, you know, has that chance to relearn and kind of be
- 15:05a quarterback again. I think so.
- 15:08I think so. And I think, you know, histories
- 15:10past has told you that it's never too late for anybody.
- 15:13Baker, Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Gino Smith, all guys that just
- 15:16ain't 100 + 1,000,000 dollars after having pretty shitty
- 15:21starts at starting quarterbacks in the league, you know?
- 15:23And Gino is kind of like that, that poster boy for that.
- 15:27And Baker as well, where actually Sam went really high as
- 15:31well if I'm not mistaken. He was third overall.
- 15:33He was third overall in the class with Baker.
- 15:35Gino was one in his class if I'm not mistaken, right?
- 15:38He was. He was the first round.
- 15:40Yeah, the first. Round.
- 15:41Maybe he was second round. He might have been second round.
- 15:44Actually, OK, my bad. It's been a while since Gino was
- 15:46a. Rookie I say he was.
- 15:48He was drafted in like 2013 like 20/12/2013.
- 15:51As a granted, I was probably taking the constitution test at
- 15:53the same time, so I give me some grades if you guys are
- 15:56listening. But yeah, these are these are
- 15:58big dogs, you know what I mean? These are big name guys and a
- 16:01guy. And my point to why I say Gino
- 16:03is the poster boy for that is like you said, he was drafted in
- 16:06the early 2010 and is now the starting quarterback of the Las
- 16:10Vegas Raiders. So.
- 16:12Starting quarterback in The Jets again, right back to The Jets.
- 16:14Sorry guys, it's been a long I'm tired.
- 16:17It's what the fuck? Alright, that's fine.
- 16:22But yeah, whatever. So my my point is, is cooked
- 16:26immediately. But you know, I, I think the
- 16:29thing with fields is this, when you look at a guy like Sam
- 16:32Darnold going to San Francisco and then going to Minnesota and
- 16:35then obviously rejuvenating his career heading to Seattle, he
- 16:38wins the Super Bowl. Baker Mayfield proves everybody
- 16:41wrong. You know the dog days and
- 16:43Carolina really trying to fight for a spot, even trying to play
- 16:46out guys like PJ Walker and Cam Newton and so many others that
- 16:50were Sam Darnold was also there. You know.
- 16:53And then obviously you got you got a guy like Gino who you know
- 16:56drafted in the early twenty 10's and you know he has been
- 16:59fighting ever since and finally got that big time contract.
- 17:02I think for me Justin Fields is in a perfect situation to sit
- 17:05and learn. I love the video I saw of him
- 17:08the other day. I think he saw it on my story
- 17:09where him and Mahomes are walking the training camp and
- 17:12kids were yelling for Patrick Mahomes and Patty keeps walking
- 17:16and and Justin stops, he runs over, he signs everybody's
- 17:19stuff. And you know, everyone in the
- 17:21comments is like way to show Pat how to be a how to be a pro
- 17:24Justin like that. But like, that's the stuff that
- 17:27Justin doesn't have to worry about right now.
- 17:29Justin doesn't, you know, Justin's locked in.
- 17:31Justin's having fun. He's really the keyword.
- 17:33There's having fun again. Justin Fields finding the love
- 17:36for football, not that he ever lost it, but, you know, getting
- 17:38sacked as much as he did in Pittsburgh and Chicago and and
- 17:42in New York. I mean, it was just a train
- 17:44wreck everywhere he went from Arthur Smith to Bill Laser and
- 17:48Matt Nagy and Shane Waldron and all these other guys, or it
- 17:51wasn't Shane Waldron. I forget who it was, but it was
- 17:54it was somebody. And they just pissed me off more
- 17:56times than not, man. It's like Fields deserved a
- 17:58shot. I think Justin is going to stay
- 18:01in Kansas City for a couple years and he is going to become
- 18:04a starting quarterback somewhere down the line.
- 18:06You have Andy Reid, you have Patrick Mahomes and you have all
- 18:10the weapons in the world to really just make sure you're
- 18:12having the best time possible. I I think it's going to be
- 18:15really exciting, man. I do.
- 18:18Well, Joy, just wanted to let you know that you're cute, Mike.
- 18:21Thanks, Joy. Say Joy.
- 18:22Joy is a sweetheart. We, we love Joy.
- 18:26So yeah, man, I'm excited. I'm excited to see, you know,
- 18:29what does Kansas City do with just with Justin Fields hopeful?
- 18:32I hope he he makes a good comeback because I know you and
- 18:35I have both been highlighting both from when he was at the
- 18:37Bears. We were, we were on this show
- 18:41when he got traded from the Bears on Saint Patrick's Day.
- 18:44It was the craziest. I mean, dude, that was a it's,
- 18:50it's always an interesting conversation.
- 18:53Not to change it. I know we're limited on time,
- 18:55but like to this day, I know two years later, three years later,
- 19:00that that was the best thing that could have happened for the
- 19:01Chicago Bears. I am a Caleb Williams believer
- 19:04and you know that, but it still hurt to this day.
- 19:08It was just one of those movies. It's like when the Bulls traded
- 19:11Derrick Rose of the Knicks and you were just like, I know it
- 19:14was what was best for the team to move forward.
- 19:17But at the end of the day, like that's your fucking guy.
- 19:21You know, when you believe in a guy, we all have that guy that
- 19:23like Johnny Knox is another guy that I'm still like, obviously
- 19:26the situation, but Johnny Knox is one of my favorite Bears of
- 19:29all time and always will be in the numbers aren't going to show
- 19:31that. But what Johnny Knox was when he
- 19:33was a Chicago Bear, Oh my gosh, man, that was the best, the best
- 19:37time of my life. Yeah, Joey, Mike has.
- 19:40Mike has all the passion like Mike really brings, like he
- 19:43brings the energy everywhere he goes.
- 19:45I try, I have anxiety 90% of my day but the times I'm doing this
- 19:48I have a fun time. I hope so, buddy.
- 19:50I know I do. But Speaking of guys that we
- 19:54think you know that their their time in the spot where they've
- 19:58been drafted might be over the ESPN announced it earlier that.
- 20:04That Kyle, that that JJ McCarthy has been demoted to quarterback
- 20:082 and that Kyle that Kyler Murray is now quarterback one
- 20:13there in Minnesota. And I know, I know our boy
- 20:17Randy. Randy, if you're watching we,
- 20:19you're not sold on Kyler, but Mike and I have never been sold
- 20:25on JJ. And I remember a few years ago
- 20:28when we were talking about it, we were talking about right
- 20:30before JJ got drafted and whatnot, you were like, you're
- 20:33like, man, tell me about this JJ McCarthy of like, dude, he's
- 20:36not, he's not it like they and of course everybody's hyping him
- 20:39up and everybody's like, oh, he's like 27 and one in college.
- 20:43He only ever lost one game to that, that Cinderella TCU team.
- 20:47And I'm like, that should be kind of an indicator.
- 20:49Like they ended up getting destroyed by Georgia.
- 20:53You told me you were the guy that said watch the games, watch
- 20:57the games and tell me what you think.
- 20:59I texted you after the national championship and I said that man
- 21:03threw 10 passes. And you said, Yep, national
- 21:06champion though. And I said, yeah, 100% just got
- 21:09drafted in the first round for that reason.
- 21:11But I made the video the second they drafted him and I said
- 21:14Minnesota and and I'm I don't want to turn into a different
- 21:18thing. Like I said, I'm trying to be
- 21:19good on time today. No, no, you're good, buddy.
- 21:21You're good. Take your time.
- 21:22Tony didn't let me on the show for four months because he said
- 21:24I had to learn how to shut the fuck up.
- 21:27That's not. True.
- 21:29No, bro, I was so afraid of the Minnesota Vikings and still am.
- 21:34I know Randy's not sold on Kyler.
- 21:38I don't need you to be sold on Kyler.
- 21:39I need you to be sold on Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson and
- 21:43TJ Hawkinson. And I don't know who the hell is
- 21:45in that backfield anymore, but. I think Aaron Jones still is.
- 21:49Actually, I have no idea. Old Man Jones is still doing his
- 21:52thing. He's still.
- 21:53Rocking up. I I, I just know you give him a
- 21:57semi. I mean, look how good they were
- 21:59with Sam Darnold, like, you know what I mean?
- 22:01And that's not Sam Darnold and Tyler Murray.
- 22:03Are we really going to say that that's like it's the gap this or
- 22:06is the gap this? I would say it's closer to this
- 22:09than it is to that because it's not that far off.
- 22:11And, and I know that's very disrespectful to a quarterback
- 22:14that just won the Super Bowl, but like, that's where I'm at
- 22:17with that. But I, yeah, man, JJ is fucking
- 22:19dog shit. And it makes me feel so fucking.
- 22:22You're going to fucking call him nine.
- 22:24You know how sick I was Week 1 when this kid went ape shit
- 22:28against the Chicago Bears? He just went absolutely fucking
- 22:31bananas. It pissed me off to my core.
- 22:34And it's because I knew, I knew the guy wasn't good.
- 22:38I was like, Oh my God, he just had his best game.
- 22:40That's his career game. It's going to be it's the Bears
- 22:43and the Bears still suck. And that's what everybody's to
- 22:46say. But guess what?
- 22:47End of the day, you saw what you needed to see and that's all I'm
- 22:51going to say. But it was it was you want.
- 22:56To know what's funny too. And I don't know why I remember
- 22:59it and maybe it's just because I'm a I'm a super petty asshole
- 23:03like I really am. I remember this dude in the
- 23:06comments on when when you and I, I don't know if it was like when
- 23:10he got drafted. I don't know if it was like the
- 23:12beginning of the season. I think last year, I remember
- 23:15this Vikings fan commented on one of the videos on TikTok and
- 23:19was like, these guys just hate JJ.
- 23:21Like I can't wait for him to just come out and be an absolute
- 23:24stud. The NFL.
- 23:25It's like, I am 1000% that guy. I don't care if it's two, three
- 23:30years later. I will 100% respond to that
- 23:32comment. Be like so how'd how'd that
- 23:35comment turn out for you there, brother?
- 23:37Like. And, and I will say this like, I
- 23:40love that you're saying that, but in the same breath, I will
- 23:44say this, I won't say it's officially the end 9.
- 23:49I think when you're sitting holding the clipboard watching
- 23:53Kyler Murray be a pro and then you have a guy like Kevin I, I,
- 23:57I definitely, it's, it's kind of very similar to that Justin
- 24:01Fields treatment where it's like, I know it's nowhere near
- 24:05Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes level, but you're, you know,
- 24:09what Kevin O'Connell has been able to do is insanely
- 24:11impressive. And then obviously you got a guy
- 24:15like Kyler Murray who's just been there.
- 24:17He understands what it is to be a high draft pick and obviously
- 24:21get moved out and and it's kind of like any given Sunday man.
- 24:24He's he's a perfect indication of like, look, this is how you
- 24:27can lose your job. But also for Kyler Murray, he
- 24:30can show this is how you get a new job.
- 24:32You know what I mean? Like, not not only am IA guy
- 24:35who's lost my spot, but I'm a guy.
- 24:37And by the way, lost it to Jacoby, not even like Beck.
- 24:42Beck is going to do Beck things. I believe you lost that job to
- 24:46Kobe Brusett at this moment in time, but.
- 24:49Well, and so, so here's the thing, because I, I have two
- 24:52questions that kind of go with that.
- 24:54So I, I do agree, I don't think it's the end of J JS career.
- 24:58I think if Sam Darnold taught us anything, if you happen to go to
- 25:02the right spot in the right situation and everything just
- 25:06clicks, anything is possible. But but here's the the thing I
- 25:10want to bring up though. You look at where Sam started
- 25:15and look at where Sam is now. He was drafted to The Jets
- 25:18dumpster fire, then he got traded to the Panthers dumpster
- 25:22fire. Goes to the 49ers, gets to
- 25:25learn, you know, from Kyle Shanahan.
- 25:28Obviously he backed up Brock Purdy, kind of filled in a
- 25:32couple times there, didn't really do anything crazy, but
- 25:35was just there, like you said, sitting on the sideline layering
- 25:37clipboard. Then goes to Minnesota and JJ
- 25:41supposed to be the kid, you know, and then Sam gets his
- 25:44opportunity and kind of the same thing that Kyler is walking into
- 25:48now. He's never had a setup like
- 25:50Minnesota. He's never had a Justin
- 25:52Jefferson. He's never had a Jordan Madison
- 25:54ATJ Hawkinson, if I'm going to say just because I don't know
- 25:57off top my head and Aaron Jones, the backfield and above average
- 26:01offensive line and an above average defense all
- 26:04complimentary with a really good off on some minded head coach.
- 26:08And Sam Darnold absolutely goes off, you know, gets the gets the
- 26:12contract to go to Seattle and obviously wins the Super Bowl
- 26:15this past season. So it's not impossible.
- 26:18What does it say for JJ, though, Because you you came in to a
- 26:24really good situation and it it wasn't like you necessarily had
- 26:29to be the guy right off the bat. Obviously he gets hurt.
- 26:32There's nothing really he can do about that.
- 26:34You know, guys get hurt all the time, but you had a whole entire
- 26:37year to just sit, study, learn. Obviously last year he was able
- 26:42to play in some games. It was kind of his quote, UN
- 26:44quote rookie year last year because he finally got to play.
- 26:47But what does that say though, now that you've been in the
- 26:50system for going on three years and, you know, not to nothing
- 26:55against Kyler Murray, but Kyler did pretty good with a whole lot
- 27:00less in Arizona. Like he got Larry Fitzgerald
- 27:02towards the end of his career. He wasn't ever really able to
- 27:05pair up with Marvin Harrison Junior much just because of, you
- 27:08know, his own personal injuries and conflicts and whatnot with
- 27:11the Cardinals. So it's not like he's had a
- 27:13whole lot of help. But man, if you're JJ, like you
- 27:17have one of the quote UN quote quarterback whisperers and
- 27:21offensive geniuses and you're once again being put on the
- 27:25bench for it. For a guy that either he's
- 27:29either he's just physically outplaying you as an athlete,
- 27:32which there's not really a whole lot you can do about that, or
- 27:36mentally he's just not making the same mistakes that you are.
- 27:39And I get it. You're a young quarterback that
- 27:41you have to grow into it. You've got to learn.
- 27:44But man, it's like when you when you look at some of the guys
- 27:47that are considered offensive geniuses, you know, Kevin
- 27:50O'Connell, Sean McVeigh, Andy Reid, Kyle Shanahan, like when
- 27:54you screw that up, does that not hurt you to go really anywhere
- 27:59else? Because it's like, man, if you
- 28:00can't do it in their system And again with the same weapons,
- 28:05like what are we doing? I I hear you and I'm looking
- 28:10down. I feel so bad.
- 28:11I hate looking down when we're on a show.
- 28:13But I'm like my my keyboard is like jacked.
- 28:16If I click the letter J it just spams the letter J.
- 28:18So I'm trying to figure that out.
- 28:20So I'm using my phone just to look up stats and.
- 28:22Is that for JJ? Like it's just stuck on.
- 28:27JJ And I'm just like, all right, bro.
- 28:29But yeah, I mean, looking up J JS numbers and looking at what
- 28:32he's been able to do, I believe it's 11 touchdowns, 12
- 28:34interceptions in 2025 and then a little over 1100 yards.
- 28:38That's unacceptable when you have Justin Jefferson at the
- 28:40helm. And Justin Jefferson's a guy
- 28:42kind of like the Randy Moss treatment where it's like at
- 28:44some point and if not already, you've outgrown Minnesota and it
- 28:49will turn into him playing for maybe not the New England
- 28:52Patriots, which that would be very full circle if you did end
- 28:55up playing for the Pats. Full irony.
- 28:57Yep, full irony in it. And it's there.
- 28:59Or a guy like the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 29:01Hey, here's Rice. Take Rice in Minnesota.
- 29:04We'll give you a couple. First, give us Justin Jefferson.
- 29:06That's boom. Patch Mahomes.
- 29:08Justin Jefferson, Kenneth Walker, The future is bright
- 29:10again, You know what I mean? But that's how quick things can
- 29:13turn. Or even San Francisco, like
- 29:15figure it out in San Francisco. We don't have to do an episode
- 29:19about Brandon Iuke. I don't think we have to, but.
- 29:22I think you're like, you want to know what I would love to see
- 29:24though I I'd love to and I don't think it would happen.
- 29:27Although knowing them, they might just to completely burn it
- 29:31and then be absolute dog water for the next probably like 8
- 29:35years. And just imagine Justin
- 29:38Jefferson, Joe Burr, and Jamar Chase all together once again
- 29:44just like 2019 LSU. Like I mean Can you imagine the
- 29:48terror on NFL defenses if you had those three dudes?
- 29:52Like that offensive line would probably just be a wet paper
- 29:55bag, but man, if Joe can get the ball out to him, it's over.
- 29:58See, that's the thing though. That's and that's the thing.
- 30:01The unfortunate part in that is I'm a Joe Burrow believer and
- 30:06you know that and you know this, I love Joe Bird, but it's it's
- 30:11hard enough when you have a backup quarterback in for Joe
- 30:14Burrow because he gets injured again and you have an upset
- 30:17Jamar Chase. Now you're going to have it
- 30:20upset Jamar Chase and then upset Justin Jefferson and no money to
- 30:24play with and no leveraging conversations because everyone
- 30:28in the league is going to know you can't afford to keep them
- 30:31all. I will say this, that is a
- 30:35Madden wet dream. If you can find a way to keep T
- 30:37Higgins too, I don't care who your running back is, it could
- 30:41be Tony. I think you'd have.
- 30:43I think you'd have to give up T. Like I feel like that'd be the
- 30:46only halfway comp of just getting something back besides
- 30:50picks if. It was if this was a 7 on 7 type
- 30:55of league, Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson every
- 30:58day that ends with Y. But definitely don't see it for
- 31:02the future. It's interesting though man, I
- 31:04love it. I think and like you said, not
- 31:06to get off topic, but like excuse me, with the JJ McCarthy
- 31:10stuff, would you say right now JJ McCarthy is closer to Drake
- 31:17May or closer to Trey Lance? Honestly, I would say Trey
- 31:23Lance, and I say that because, and here's what's bad, I can't
- 31:29even really say he's close to Trey Lance because Trey only had
- 31:32one, I believe one starting season at North Dakota State.
- 31:37Yeah. COVID season.
- 31:40He and there and there wasn't a lot of film on it.
- 31:43Like there it was just, it was just a hey, there's raw talent.
- 31:47Like he's a big body. He's athletic.
- 31:50You know what it was too though, right?
- 31:51Like, you know, the lore, you ever look, this is just this is
- 31:55Mike allegedly, I have no idea, but Colin Coward was like the
- 32:00biggest Trey Lance supporter and all the rumors were that.
- 32:04He was dating his daughter wasn't.
- 32:06That's what. That's right.
- 32:08Trey and his daughter were either dating or friends or
- 32:10whatever the case. Was dating.
- 32:12And something like that. And like it really, like Colin
- 32:15really promoted them. And I'm not saying Colin did
- 32:18that like by any. I think he just liked him as a
- 32:20talent. He liked him as a person.
- 32:22And Colin believed in him. And other analysts kept pumping
- 32:24him out saying he was going to be the next big thing and fuck
- 32:28that. They knew what they were doing.
- 32:30You and I talk about it every year.
- 32:32There's always two guys that the whole league is just like, these
- 32:35are the guys and they're fucking dog shit.
- 32:37And JJ was one of those guys. Michael Pennix, no disrespect,
- 32:40Michael Pennix was that other guy who they all said this is
- 32:44the guy and he's not. And everyone knows he's not
- 32:47because either it's frame or his injury history or whatever the
- 32:50case is. He's showing you he's not.
- 32:52I know he's not. We all know.
- 32:54I don't know if you feel the same way.
- 32:55I know he's not. That going to be the when we
- 32:57talk about greats, I'm talking about great.
- 33:01He's not in that conversation. For me.
- 33:03I still have Jaden Daniels in that conversation.
- 33:05I believe the injuries are the injuries.
- 33:08But when he's healthy, he's healthy.
- 33:09But a guy like Michael, even when he's healthy, he's not
- 33:11going to outplay Josh Allen or or Caleb Williams.
- 33:14Oh, and that feels Oh. Does that feel good to say?
- 33:18Buddy, say that again, motherfucker, You know what I'm
- 33:21saying? I've been waiting 26 years to
- 33:23say some shit like that baby only guy tell you my piss
- 33:26conversation really quick. By all means.
- 33:28I took a piss with Jay Cutler in a couple weeks ago.
- 33:31Man. I'm in the bathroom with the
- 33:33National, the Rosemont Center. It was the greatest weekend
- 33:36working for iHeartRadio. Had a blast.
- 33:38It was a blessing. Want to say thankful to all the
- 33:40guys that made that happen. There I am.
- 33:42I walked in. Boom, big Poppy walking out
- 33:46smell the colognes all mixing together, probably thousands of
- 33:49dollars worth of colognes. That bathroom smells beautiful.
- 33:52It was crazy. My nose hair fell out.
- 33:54I go that's crazy. And I go, I think I go to the
- 33:57farthest urinal. I always go to the farthest one.
- 33:59No one else is there. I don't want to be the first
- 34:01guy. So, so smoking jaywalks in.
- 34:05I see him with his cups, hat go cups and tallest guy, tallest
- 34:09guy I've ever seen in my life. You know, so cool.
- 34:11Like like I'm 58, you know, I'm not the biggest guy, but like
- 34:14this guy walks in. I'm like, this is like literally
- 34:16you're telling me that I would have to sack this guy if I was
- 34:20an opposing defensive player? Like obviously that's a
- 34:22different those guys are giant as well.
- 34:25Like man, he was a giant bro and he walked in, use the journal
- 34:29right next to me and I was just like, Oh my God, it's smoking J.
- 34:34So he he and I are the same height, but he's got about he
- 34:39got about 41 lbs of weight. On and that's, and let's be
- 34:42honest here, that's that's probably NFL weight what he is
- 34:47now as a as a drinker and a hunter and all this shit he's
- 34:50doing as a retired man. I'd add about another 20 to
- 34:54that, but maybe 30. As I say, but I mean, you can't
- 34:59you can't beat Jay though, because Jay, I think if Jay was
- 35:02would have been allowed to, I definitely think Jay would be
- 35:04smoking a cigarette on the on the sideline.
- 35:06No, he's in game. Did you see, I hate getting off
- 35:10topic, but did you see Aaron Rodgers playing on the other
- 35:12side of the ball the other day? He was playing defense.
- 35:15If you looked at him, Oh, it's pretty cool.
- 35:17He was just bringing a pass rusher for a few minutes.
- 35:19And to see him do that at that age I'm at, I'm at this weird
- 35:21stage in my life. I'm at this weird stage where I
- 35:25I respect Aaron Rodgers and I respect LeBron James, but a 12
- 35:29year old me would be sick to his stomach to hear me utter words
- 35:32like that. But they're not.
- 35:34They're not our rivals anymore, man.
- 35:36I mean, it's, it's over. Like you could just enjoy the
- 35:39show now. I ain't gonna lie.
- 35:40I had the biggest and you know, for as long as you know me, I
- 35:44was one of the biggest Karen Rodgers haters for like the
- 35:47longest time. The man post like the Pat McAfee
- 35:50just meltdown where he's like, I'm coming for everybody.
- 35:54I'm burning every bridge I could find.
- 35:56If you if you smarted off about me, if you made a segment about
- 36:00me at all, He's basically like, here's the here's the double
- 36:04bird. Suck it.
- 36:05I was right. Like all this was like, OK, like
- 36:10kind of the same way. It's like, man, if you had told
- 36:12me 10 years ago, like, man, you're gonna, you're gonna
- 36:14probably like Aaron Rodgers a little bit.
- 36:16Like, no, there ain't no way. No way.
- 36:19And now I'm here like damn it. Yeah, it was like, it reminded
- 36:23me so much of like when Caleb Williams on around the NFL
- 36:27draft, they asked Caleb Williams who his favorite quarterback was
- 36:30and he said it was Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady.
- 36:32But he said Aaron Rodgers first. That's who he molds his game off
- 36:35of. A lot of people hated that.
- 36:36I loved it from day one. I think a lot of people will sit
- 36:39here today and tell you they will fuck Aaron Rodgers and fuck
- 36:42Green Bay and all that's true. I wore my the Packers Packers
- 36:46fans Party with Diddy T-shirt yesterday, the Six Flags and I
- 36:49got so many, so many supporters at Six Flags for that.
- 36:54It was so awesome. Oh, dude, I had one guy that was
- 36:56a Packers fan like and he's like buckled in.
- 36:58It was he goes. I'm not I did not I go.
- 37:01I heard you called him Sean, and then he was.
- 37:03Like no. And he?
- 37:05Pulled off and I was like, see you, but no, dude, it's it's
- 37:09cool to see like us as we age, kind of like damn, like we was
- 37:13really hating for years, but if we didn't have no skin in the
- 37:15race, we wouldn't have. Came yeah, if he wouldn't have
- 37:18been a pack, honestly, two things.
- 37:19If he wouldn't have been a Green Bay Packer at the time, if he
- 37:22wouldn't have killed the Dallas Cowboys when I was a fan of them
- 37:25every single flipping second and he got a chance to.
- 37:29And then if it's like, man, if you just weren't such a douche
- 37:31bag, like every time I turn around, like I need help, they
- 37:34quit asking them for more money. No, I need more money, brother.
- 37:37Quit asking them for more money so they could sign people with
- 37:39free agency, douchebag. But anyway.
- 37:43But Speaking of because since we were since we're reminiscing
- 37:46about when we were younger, our youth and dudes that have been
- 37:50in the league a long time now coming to the end.
- 37:52We've now come to that point to where there's new blood coming
- 37:56into the NFL. There's new rookies and we've
- 37:58only seen one pre season game so far.
- 38:01And honestly, I think the two names that probably stood out
- 38:04the most from that was both Carson Beck and Haynes King with
- 38:08shout out to Haynes King. I I watched him a lot when he
- 38:11was at Georgia Tech and was a pretty big fan of his.
- 38:14And I'll tell anybody who, if you're just now seeing Haynes
- 38:19King from the preseason game, go back and watch his Georgia Tech
- 38:25highlights because that's how he played every single game when he
- 38:29was in college. He played exactly like how he
- 38:32played the preseason. But Mike buddy, what are do you
- 38:34have 1 rookie? Do you have a few rookies who
- 38:37who is on your NFL rookie watch list?
- 38:40I think I have a few. I think we'll kind of spread
- 38:43that out through obviously training camp and spring, not
- 38:46spring training. Pardon me, pre season.
- 38:49I'll give you one. I'll drop a nugget today and we
- 38:53can keep going as you know, as we see more games and kind of
- 38:55more film on guys. But I'm going to say it early.
- 38:58Carnell Tate has the opportunity to win Rookie of the Year and
- 39:02I'm extremely excited about it. There's a guy I'm very firm is
- 39:05going to be one of the top rookie wide receivers in this
- 39:08class. I'm a huge Cam Ward guy and it's
- 39:11crazy to say that because a year ago when I came on this show, I
- 39:14said I was not a huge Cam Ward guy.
- 39:17I didn't believe in the film. I didn't believe in the the the
- 39:21numbers because I felt like they were a little inflated.
- 39:23And there were also times where I just felt like you watch some
- 39:26of the film and you're like, this guy holds on to the ball
- 39:28too long, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 39:31I'm really excited about him. I'm really excited to see him
- 39:34really get a number one option. Why receiver?
- 39:37It's it's going to be really exciting to see Cam Ward.
- 39:39I think the more I watch him, the more I see he is a pro's pro
- 39:45and and it really is exciting to see Tennessee kind of get some
- 39:48love. I know Randy will never root for
- 39:50the Tennessee Titans. He's a Colts fan through and
- 39:52through. But it is cool to see Tennessee
- 39:54football really show up and show out.
- 39:56I know I saw a lot of Cam Ward jerseys at the National, which
- 39:59was really cool. Yeah.
- 40:01So I'm, I'm really, really optimistic on Cam Ward right
- 40:04now. And I think Carmel Tate's going
- 40:05to give him that opportunity to really flourish at the big
- 40:08league level. So yeah, I think, you know, Cam
- 40:11has success, Carmel will have success, and I think it's going
- 40:13to be cool. So I'm gonna be honest, I'm
- 40:16gonna, I'm gonna say 2 names, but one of them I'm gonna say
- 40:20something might be a little bit controversial, but I'm gonna,
- 40:22I'm gonna say it anyway. It's gonna be my, it's gonna be
- 40:24my hot take because we're gonna put it so the first one, not the
- 40:29hot take yet. And I know it's just pre season
- 40:32everything super vanilla. There's all everybody's just
- 40:35fighting for a roster spot. Like basically all these dudes
- 40:38have already played each other in college or if they haven't,
- 40:41basically on collegiate level with some old dudes sprinkled in
- 40:44there here and there. I'm going to be honest, I think
- 40:48Carson Beck starts by at least Week 5 of this NFL seat.
- 40:53I don't think that's bad at all. Like I think that is a realistic
- 40:57possibility and again, we'll we'll have to see throughout the
- 41:00pre season how does he look? You know what, not I think going
- 41:04from Georgia to Miami and now here and basically he's had to
- 41:08be the guy because percent has been in the contract
- 41:10negotiations to Arizona. They finally got that.
- 41:12And obviously Jacoby kind of has some injury history.
- 41:15And don't get me wrong, I like Jacoby.
- 41:18He's not a starter like he is a great backup.
- 41:21He is absolutely great backup. He's absolutely dude. 100 team.
- 41:24He's a, he's a, he's a pro. He knows how to play the game.
- 41:26He can exactly 4 quarters, but that's about it.
- 41:29And and if if your star quarterback is going to be out
- 41:32for like a short time, you need him to just keep you around 500
- 41:35and like 4 games, he can do that.
- 41:36He can absolutely do that. But long term, no, I'm not not
- 41:41trusting my hot take though. And again, because I watched him
- 41:45in college, a watch team against the Cardinals, if he goes into
- 41:53the right situation and is truly fostered to grow, I think Haines
- 42:01King could have a Josh Allen type of career.
- 42:05And I know you're like, what? Here's why I say it.
- 42:10OK, So just just bear with me, right?
- 42:13Hear me out. Go back to Josh Allen's rookie
- 42:17here. Terrible.
- 42:19Terrible dude was not a pass like Duke could not throw the
- 42:23ball he was running it his perce.
- 42:25His percent percentage completion was trash.
- 42:29Turnover God. Like it was.
- 42:32Bad. Right, but then look at Haynes
- 42:36King like again, if if you don't know him, go look at his go look
- 42:40at his college tape like he's not throwing 300 three 5400 on
- 42:45you. He he is not lighting you up
- 42:47surgically as far as you know what he's doing in the air.
- 42:51But with the ground game, with his legs, he's getting you 70
- 42:55plus yards a game easily. I don't even want to cut you
- 43:01off. I want you to keep going because
- 43:02I think this is going to be an amazing take if it launches one
- 43:05day. But that comes with
- 43:09conversations. Absolutely.
- 43:11Uncomfortable, not for me conversations.
- 43:17And the biggest one there is a man of the name Bryce Young, and
- 43:22what they traded to acquire Bryce Young versus also on top
- 43:27of that, making the playoffs last year again, finished 8:00
- 43:30and 9:00. We're not going to sit here and
- 43:31act like it was the craziest season.
- 43:32It was a tiebreaker, whatever. However they could, they
- 43:34crumble, they crumble. But he did play pretty well
- 43:38after a really rough start to the season.
- 43:40They even got benched, yeah. Even got benched at one point
- 43:43and and what I would ask is how far into the future because
- 43:51we're talking like rookies this year and the impact they're
- 43:53making. Be on the lookout.
- 43:54How far into the future are you even seeing this kid get an
- 43:57opportunity? Because I believe in what you're
- 43:59saying. I believe in you believing in
- 44:01this kid. But in order for him to get a
- 44:04shot bearing injury, price young, especially after making a
- 44:10playoff berth, would have to be historically dog shit to lose
- 44:16his position. Truly.
- 44:19See, I'm going to pull up their schedule real quick.
- 44:21Here's the thing. I don't know if it will happen
- 44:24this season, but like you said, I think it would have to be a
- 44:27culmination of either really bad injuries or it would have to be
- 44:33Bryce just plays absolutely terrible.
- 44:35So we'll we'll go real quick through the Panthers schedule.
- 44:38We don't have to, you know, dive super deep into it.
- 44:41They do not have an easy schedule.
- 44:43OK. They host the Bears September
- 44:4613th. Then they travel to Atlanta,
- 44:49that's a toss up. They go to Cleveland, probably
- 44:53going to be a dub, could be a toss up.
- 44:55They host the Lions, not easy. Then they go to Philly too.
- 45:00That's probably going to be AL. They host Tampa Bay, toss up
- 45:04because it's divisional. Then they go to Green Bay in
- 45:07late October, that's a toss up. They host the Broncos who
- 45:12basically brought back everybody that was on that defense and by
- 45:15then Bonex should not only be back, but it more than likely
- 45:19you'll probably be rolling, especially the fact that they
- 45:22have Jalen Waddle and Cortland Sutton there as well as some
- 45:26other weapons. Then they go to New Orleans.
- 45:29That's potentially a toss up. They host Lamar Jackson and the
- 45:33Ravens. Then they they go to Tampa.
- 45:36Then they go to the Vikings, which, who knows, maybe Kyler
- 45:40and them are rolling by that. Could, could, could be a
- 45:42division winner there, in my honest opinion that that's a
- 45:45conversation. They they then host the Saints,
- 45:48then they host Sensei. And again, depending on is if
- 45:52Sensei is maybe rolling or if they're kind of fighting for
- 45:55their playoff lives to get in like this could be a dogfight as
- 45:59far as Sensei wanting to keep their playoff hopes.
- 46:01Then they go to Pittsburgh and then they host the Super Bowl
- 46:05champ Seattle Seahawks, who I think they'll probably take a
- 46:09bit of a step back, but I don't think they're going to be
- 46:11scrubbed by no stretch of the imagination.
- 46:14And then they end. Then they finish the year
- 46:16hosting the Falcons again. So I mean, they do not have an
- 46:20easy schedule by any stretch of the imagination.
- 46:24So I mean, if I'm sitting here looking at it's like, man, I by
- 46:30what it it might be a very short sample size, but what week nine,
- 46:36week 10, maybe if they're potentially mathematically
- 46:40eliminated or real close to it, it's like, yeah, let's see what
- 46:43we got in the kid. What round did they draft him?
- 46:47That's. A great question.
- 46:51I'm sorry, buddy. I didn't mean to put you out.
- 46:53I do think there's validity to that.
- 46:55Like if it's third, fourth round, like we'll see.
- 46:57Oh, he was an undrafted free agent.
- 46:58So I mean, we, we've seen dudes have, you know, pretty good
- 47:02year. And to give you an idea of what
- 47:04his career was, Haynes King's career.
- 47:08So he had three years at Texas A&M.
- 47:12He only started. He started two games for him in
- 47:14twenty 21300 yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 picks. 2022 he
- 47:21went one and four had 1200 yards, 7 T DS, 6 picks, but 83
- 47:28rush yards a touchdown down Georgia Tech is where he really
- 47:30blew up. So Georgia Tech 2800 yards, his
- 47:35first season. 27 touchdowns, 16 picks, 10 rushing touchdowns,
- 47:40700 yards on the ground next year, seven and four, 2100
- 47:46yards, 14 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, about 600 yards
- 47:50on the ground and 11 rushing touchdowns.
- 47:52And then last year they went eight and four.
- 47:55Just under 3000 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, 6 picks, just
- 48:00under 1000 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in his
- 48:04career. George check.
- 48:04So again, I'm not going to sit here and say that he he's going
- 48:08to be as good as Josh Allen, but looking at how he plays ball,
- 48:13what he does and how he just tries to continue to extend and
- 48:17make plays again, it would have to be in the right situation.
- 48:21I think if he stays in Carolina with how it is, I think they're
- 48:25doing better as far as how they're building it up.
- 48:27Obviously they have McMillan that they drafted from Arizona
- 48:30last year. They got Rico Dowdle, I believe
- 48:34still at running back who is who isn't bad and they've got a
- 48:36rotation there. Their defense is really solid.
- 48:40And then they have the kids they drafted out of Tennessee that
- 48:42I'm kind of high on. But I think he's, I think he's
- 48:44injured and might potentially be out.
- 48:47I think if they build the right pieces and get the right and get
- 48:51the right personnel in there, he could potentially have that Josh
- 48:56Allen type of height. Now, again, I don't know if
- 48:57he'll ever get there, but as far as how they play, the style that
- 49:02they play, that's who He reminds me of you.
- 49:04Got you. Got me believing man.
- 49:06Oh. I sold you Audi.
- 49:07Well, hey, I mean, I ain't gonna lie.
- 49:09He sold me out a lot of shit when I talk about.
- 49:12Yeah, I've. Done that shit for sure.
- 49:15But I am, I am a connoisseur and believing in random guys, you
- 49:19know, So I'll check out. Well, I'm going to check out
- 49:21right now Haynes King rookie card and we'll see what's up if
- 49:26I if I'm interested. And hey, I have sold you on some
- 49:30I've been right about because I was right on JJ.
- 49:32I was right on JJ the whole time.
- 49:36But we'll, we'll move on though. So we'll move on.
- 49:40Do you want to talk about potential MVPS or do you want to
- 49:43talk about the Browns quarterback room?
- 49:46I would honestly. God, you want my honest opinion?
- 49:50Yeah, absolutely. I think we've talked a lot of
- 49:52shit quarterbacks today and I think we should end on a
- 49:55positive note when we call them all winners.
- 49:57It's fair and honestly, and it's one of those, if I think he had
- 50:02a realistic shot of starting, I would say Taylor Green would
- 50:04also be on my rookie watch list. But that poor man, he's, he's
- 50:07going to be buried on Deaf Turner.
- 50:10I know we're going to end up on a clip edit one day when Malika
- 50:12Lemon wins Rookie of the Year. For sure.
- 50:14They're going to be like, these guys don't know what they're
- 50:16talking about. I'm gonna be like, yeah, all
- 50:18right. Brother, he's the one that got
- 50:20attracted by Philly. Yeah, sit the fuck down.
- 50:24He ain't getting sit the fuck down.
- 50:26Fuck Philly, fuck Philly. And that means Jayla Hurst had
- 50:29to throw the ball anyway. And by the way, throw the ball
- 50:35to Lemon, not Monica Smith or Saquon Barkley or Coddard or all
- 50:39the other millions of weapons. You know what I mean?
- 50:42If A.J. Brown wasn't getting the fucking
- 50:44ball, brother, what makes you think you're getting the fucking
- 50:47ball? That's all I'm saying.
- 50:49I'm A.J. Brown.
- 50:50Believer. Hey, they got all those weapons,
- 50:52and you know what those weapons are designed to do?
- 50:54Push a full grown man's ass into the end zone.
- 50:56That's what he's trying to do. Go grab some.
- 51:00Go grab some buns. Brother go grab full cheek
- 51:02double cheeked up. Don't let go neither.
- 51:06But anyway, Speaking of yeah, because I he ain't going to be
- 51:10included my MVB predictor, but my buddy, who do you have
- 51:14potentially win in the NFLMVP? Because honestly, I feel like
- 51:17this year that that that conversation is wide open Now.
- 51:21I know a lot of people might have it just like gifted to Matt
- 51:24Stafford. Like I'm just saying, look man,
- 51:28fuck. That.
- 51:30Hey, I'm just, I guarantee people have already like since
- 51:33Aaron Donald's back in practice pads, I guarantee they've all
- 51:36but handed Matt Stafford that trophy.
- 51:38Check out that video on inside the Hoosier mind TikTok if you
- 51:41haven't seen it already. It's it's a little
- 51:43underwhelming, I'm not going to lie.
- 51:44The guy that went after him obliterated that sled.
- 51:47And Aaron was just kind of like, you know what I mean?
- 51:50I get it. He's warming into it.
- 51:52He's he, it's been, wow, he's been hanging out with his
- 51:53daughter and you know, whatever the fuck Aaron Donald does in
- 51:57the office, You want my truth? Absolutely.
- 52:01Aaron Donald, Miles Garrett and the Los Angeles Rams are putting
- 52:07together one of the greatest super teams to stop one man.
- 52:12Kayla Williams. I see Ice Man Ray, I'm telling
- 52:16you, I'm telling you right now, Caleb Williams is my MVP without
- 52:20a question. And I have not in my entire life
- 52:24as a Bears fan, in over 25 years, I've ever had a
- 52:28conversation about a Bears quarterback winning MVP,
- 52:31conversations about other players.
- 52:33Just I mean, Brian Urlock, what he was able to do, never won an
- 52:35MVP, but like one of the best defensive players plug in on any
- 52:39team. There's so many great talents
- 52:42that we've seen over the years. I have never seen a city, a
- 52:46league, and overall just a bunch of people buy in to one person.
- 52:55I was downtown in Fulton Market the other day and I saw the
- 52:59Iceman sculpture, which was amazing.
- 53:01And I'm going to clip this and put the artist in the
- 53:03description below. Check it out.
- 53:06I have never seen a mural made of a Chicago Bears quarterback
- 53:10who has played ever in my life. And it was the coolest thing in
- 53:15the fucking world. Tom, I'm going to tell you
- 53:17something. I'm going to give you a little
- 53:18story. I haven't said it before.
- 53:19I think Caleb Williams wins MVP, and it's not just because of his
- 53:23talent, but Colson loved ones. I was with Rob Gronkowski at the
- 53:27National the other week and I got to ask him one question.
- 53:30I said, Rob, one, can I get a picture with you?
- 53:33Obviously, of course. And then two, I was like, do you
- 53:36think Colson Loveland is legit? Do you think he's the truth?
- 53:40And Rob laughed a little. Because obviously you're talking
- 53:43to one of the greatest tight ends of all time and this kids
- 53:45going into year 2. But he said he's he's solid.
- 53:48He's. Legit.
- 53:50And, and to hear that from Rob Gronkowski, which is the coolest
- 53:54thing in the world, you know what I mean?
- 53:55Like he's, he's fucking solid. And I was like, I started
- 53:59laughing like Rob, we're both laughing because I'm like, oh,
- 54:01that's like so sick to hear that.
- 54:04Colson Loveland and Caleb Williams are going to be the
- 54:06next Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey.
- 54:07I truly do believe that. You have Luther Bird and the
- 54:10third, you still have Roma Doonese.
- 54:12You have DeAndre Swift and Kyle Manandai, which I'm really
- 54:15excited about. Ozzy Chiprillo potentially
- 54:18coming back for one of those tackle spots.
- 54:20You still got Joe Toomey and everybody else.
- 54:22I'm excited for what's going to happen now.
- 54:25There's a lot of factors that play a role into that, how many
- 54:27games you win and obviously the season you put together.
- 54:30Caleb Williams finished his second year as a Chicago Bear
- 54:33with the most passing yards in a single season by any Chicago
- 54:36Bear. Didn't hit 4000, hit 3900 and
- 54:39something pretty much there. Yeah, pretty much there,
- 54:43especially when his receivers had over 15 drops on the year.
- 54:47But I think for me, Caleb Williams is going to win the MVP
- 54:52and he's going to bring the Bears into this Michael Jordan,
- 54:56Chicago Bulls style conversations where the Bears
- 55:00are going to become a household name in the NFL again, not just
- 55:04Walter Payton, Gale Sears, Dick Buckets and Papa House.
- 55:08We're going to be talking about guys from the 21st fucking
- 55:11century for the first time in a long time.
- 55:13And I, and I can't wait, man. I I think this is the year.
- 55:17They say, and a lot of offensive guys, because you're going to
- 55:19think the two biggest offensive guys that is usually talked
- 55:21about is Gale Sayers and Walter Payton.
- 55:25Like that's it. That's the that's the two big
- 55:27dudes. I mean, even even as me and you
- 55:29as well, you know, you're in Indianapolis.
- 55:31You grew up watching the Bears. It's like, yeah, yeah.
- 55:34Matt Forte, Devin Hester. Sure, sure, Johnny.
- 55:37Knox. Brandon Marshall.
- 55:39Sure. Brandon Marshall.
- 55:41But. Technically, Al Sean Jeffrey
- 55:43there for for a few years now before he really like kicked it
- 55:45off, but. Same thing we said the other a
- 55:48few segments ago. Fuck Philly and fuck out Sean.
- 55:50I don't like the way he acted when he won a ring.
- 55:53That's fair. But yeah, no, he said fuck
- 55:55Chicago to diamonds. I was after he said that, I was
- 55:57like, I have a Jeffrey jersey. That broke my heart.
- 56:01Join, join, miss. I'm not going to lie, I'm
- 56:03mystery. I missed the old school
- 56:04quarterback like. And I know this is kind of
- 56:07getting off on a tangent. I haven't really given my MVP
- 56:09predictor, but a dude who deserved to win MVP at some
- 56:12point and never did. Bull crap, by the way, dude.
- 56:15Like when Philip Rivers came back, even though like it was
- 56:18Philip Rivers, like it was Phil, like he's trash talking.
- 56:21I know we all enjoy Phil trash talking, but it's like meant to
- 56:25watch him come to the line. He's like, hey, he's doing this,
- 56:27he's doing this, He's doing that.
- 56:29Like you don't see that get broke down anymore by
- 56:33quarterbacks. And I don't know if it's maybe
- 56:35they're just doing it mentally and maybe they're giving other
- 56:38signs to other guys or it's just like, yeah, kind of things.
- 56:44Another one that I loved and it's like it's timeless to me is
- 56:48Cam Newton and Clay Matthews. Everyone.
- 56:50Cam Newton. Oh, yeah.
- 56:51It's. A real real.
- 56:52It's a real real. Oh yeah.
- 56:53Watch. This yeah, straight to the crib
- 56:56too, like Cam. That's why Cam will always go
- 56:58down to my favorite quarterback ever.
- 56:59But like you don't really see the NFL have those miked up
- 57:03conversations anymore or like really just see guys breaking
- 57:05down the defense and live time. And maybe it's because they have
- 57:08like different indicators to kind of show that.
- 57:10But I love do talking shit, man. Do talking shit is the best part
- 57:13of the. Game, I'm not going to lie, I
- 57:15don't know if you've seen it, but I think one of the funniest
- 57:17interviews. I also watched not just the the
- 57:19Clay Matthews and the Cam Newton, but Luke Keakley and
- 57:24Thomas Davis and they were salt and pepper.
- 57:26And he's like, oh, salt beans are going to the left.
- 57:29But they went to but they went to you, Tom.
- 57:31He's like, no, bro, like salt is you because you're white.
- 57:35It's like, oh, OK, I got you. So Congrats to Luke, though,
- 57:40because he got in the Hall of Fame and same with your breeze.
- 57:44But and, and we get to see Tony Romo getting arrested for a
- 57:48potential DUI and he's currently on on leave as JJ Watts going to
- 57:54take over as. Hey, watch that video though, he
- 57:56might get away with that. He might I say it was kind of a
- 58:00it was kind of weird. You know, she she would talk
- 58:02loud and then she'd go like real soft so he couldn't hear her
- 58:05again. And I know personally, like I
- 58:07kind of had the same issue. It's like you got to keep
- 58:09talking loud. Like, I don't want you to yell
- 58:11at me, but I mean, that's what you got to do so I can hear you.
- 58:13That's what you got to do. And the same thing he's like,
- 58:16look, I'm trying to make sure I don't get myself in trouble.
- 58:18I'm not trying to incriminate myself, like right, Like I, I
- 58:22get it. So that'll be interesting to see
- 58:24how that one pans out. But as far as my NFLMVB
- 58:28predictor, funny enough, I, I also have Caleb.
- 58:32Now here's the only thing. Here's the only thing I'm
- 58:36worried about, though. Only thing I'm worried about,
- 58:39right? I think last year the Bears had
- 58:44the benefit of nobody. What did people expect Caleb to
- 58:49do now that he had a good head coach, an offensive mind and all
- 58:55of these weapons to really work with?
- 58:57You know, he had DJ Moore, he had a, you know, Roma Dunze, he
- 59:01had a rookie Luther Burden. He had Colston, Loveland and
- 59:04Commet and then of course, Swift in the backfield and then a a
- 59:07defense that the names and the expectations were all there, but
- 59:12they kind of failed to meet. So I think everybody was like,
- 59:14what are we going to get from Chicago?
- 59:16They have the potential, but is this kid going to meet it now?
- 59:21What kind of worries me is because they set that standard.
- 59:26That's what people are going to expect from the Bears now.
- 59:28So I wonder if people won't play the Bears harder.
- 59:33And I'm not saying that people don't get their full effort in
- 59:35games anyway, because. I mean, and it is the top three
- 59:37hardest schedule in the league right now.
- 59:39Right. And, and looking at their
- 59:40schedule, I was like, yeah, that's a that's a little rough.
- 59:44I mean the Eagles, I mean, you ain't got to worry about The
- 59:46Jets, but you got the Eagles. Like you got the Patriots, you
- 59:49got the the Seahawks, of course, you got everybody in the
- 59:53division as far as the Lions, Packers and the.
- 59:57And I, I will. I before we leave.
- 59:58I, I my bad. I didn't even cut you off.
- 1:00:00No, no, you're good buddy. And you got the bills
- 1:00:02unfortunately, too. Yeah, that was the one I was
- 1:00:04going to say where it's like we're just facing a tough
- 1:00:06division and just to give you a little mic at training camp for
- 1:00:10inside the future mine before we leave.
- 1:00:12So we got Kobe Bryant, which was our biggest free agency
- 1:00:16acquisition. It was chef's kiss, big safety.
- 1:00:20We moved on from Jaquan Brisker and and Kevin Buyer.
- 1:00:24He went, he had a knee injury the other day and a one-on-one
- 1:00:27with Cole Comet and it went from 8 to 10 weeks to four to six
- 1:00:31months. He's going to be out.
- 1:00:32So that's our number one safety. Kyler Gordon's injured, Luther
- 1:00:36Burden's going to miss the entirety of training camp and
- 1:00:40pre season with a groin injury. You also have Tyrese Stevenson,
- 1:00:44Braxton Jones, Kyle Monungai, Montez Sweat and a couple
- 1:00:47others. Audie Chapelo, who they're
- 1:00:50saying he wasn't even going to play this season because he tore
- 1:00:52A tendon that rarely ever gets torn at the end of the Packers
- 1:00:55Bears game in the playoffs, said he might miss the entire year.
- 1:00:58Now they're saying he's playing Week 1.
- 1:01:00Don't know what's going on. My point in saying all that, and
- 1:01:02yes, exactly it was, I am in a glass case of emotions right
- 1:01:06now. The Bears went from losing Kobe
- 1:01:08Bryant for the season to potentially getting Ozzie
- 1:01:10Chappello back by Week 1. Luther Burden's coming back, but
- 1:01:14he's banged up. So many questions.
- 1:01:17Tony, I want to ask you a question before we get out of
- 1:01:19here and before whoever runs this network kicks us off.
- 1:01:25DJ Moore won back-to-back Packers games for the Bears,
- 1:01:30came up in the biggest moment, Won multiple games for the
- 1:01:33Bears, came up clutch when it mattered most.
- 1:01:35A lot of people gave him some shit for that last drive against
- 1:01:38the Rams. I don't.
- 1:01:39DJ is the man. I will never hate DJ Moore.
- 1:01:42But I ask you this, who is the guy Caleb goes to in those
- 1:01:47situations and who is the guy that you would rely on to be
- 1:01:51him? Is it Luther Burden or Rome in
- 1:01:54the wide receiver corps? Or do you think this team kind
- 1:01:57of becomes a close and Loveland LED offense for Caleb Willy
- 1:02:03because DJ was the guy. DJ was the guy in the clutch
- 1:02:06moment that always came up. I think, I think honestly, until
- 1:02:11somebody separates themselves, I would say it has to be Rome only
- 1:02:17because like, and don't get me wrong, like what I do.
- 1:02:20I do agree that I think Loveland could be the guy that's, you
- 1:02:23know, the Travis Kelsey, the Gronk of like the big catch
- 1:02:26insurance, the big just rumbling body.
- 1:02:28The problem is is you know, him just being a big dude and and
- 1:02:31you can even look at this from Kelsey and Gronk both.
- 1:02:34They didn't really have a whole lot of speed.
- 1:02:36Usually, you know, with it now they they can run.
- 1:02:38I'm not going to sit here and say, you know, they're like
- 1:02:39they're slow pokes by no stretch, but but they're not the
- 1:02:42speedster. Like when you think about like,
- 1:02:45Hey, we're down. I got to get like a 40 yard
- 1:02:48chunk play and maybe something more as far as like magic
- 1:02:53happens like what DJ used to do with them.
- 1:02:56Like you, it's got to go to a wide receiver and I think right
- 1:02:59now with Rome coming into what is a year 2 now or year 3 like
- 1:03:05like that, that this is your time, man.
- 1:03:08It's like you, you've got to learn from DJ for the last
- 1:03:10couple of years. You got to learn from Keenan
- 1:03:12Allen, even if it was just for a year, you got to learn from him.
- 1:03:16It's like, all right, man, you're the you're the veteran
- 1:03:18dude in the locker room. Like you got to be the leader.
- 1:03:20You got to step up. Like if that to me is who I
- 1:03:24would say it has to be now. I do think it it, it is a
- 1:03:27potential like I think Loveland could be that guy, like you
- 1:03:30said, if if we think that he's going to potentially be that
- 1:03:33Kelsey or Crock for Caleb as far as that security and safety
- 1:03:37blanket. And we've seen a lot of, you
- 1:03:38know, quarterbacks have those tight ends that they they just
- 1:03:41fall in love with. You know, Romo had Jason Witten
- 1:03:43for yeah, many, many years. Donovan McNabb had Britt
- 1:03:46Selleck, Greg. Olson.
- 1:03:48Cam I mean Greg Olson and Cam I know Jay didn't get to enjoy
- 1:03:52Greg Olson unfortunately for his longer as much still baffles me
- 1:03:56to this day from like 2000. I still, I still question like
- 1:03:59was that Jay or was that I don't know what caused that?
- 1:04:02It's interesting, man. Like that's the question is, did
- 1:04:04Jay care? Because if I'm Jay, I would have
- 1:04:07been like, what? You know, But I, I agree with
- 1:04:09you. I I will say you made a great
- 1:04:11point last year and it was the beginning of the season and you
- 1:04:13used to play fantasy football. You know, you know, Roma Dunsday
- 1:04:17was one of the top players in the first half of last year
- 1:04:21prior to having that foot stress fracture that kind of turned
- 1:04:23into the new normal for him. I think Rome really can have a
- 1:04:26great year and I think if he can figure out his new normal and
- 1:04:29still be the big body that he is.
- 1:04:31Like you say, like you've had DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and a bunch
- 1:04:34of other great dudes alongside you and Caleb Williams throwing
- 1:04:37you the ball going into year three.
- 1:04:39I have high expectations for Roma Dunsday.
- 1:04:41But I also will say in that same breath, I think Colson Loveland
- 1:04:44is about to have a historic season from a tight end
- 1:04:46perspective. When we talk about Thailand
- 1:04:48University and the guys who are going to be the focal point of
- 1:04:52that, I think Colson Loveland is going to be one of the most
- 1:04:54unguardable players in all football.
- 1:04:56I think he's going to be a cheat code.
- 1:04:57I think in Madden I'm going to be running tight and attack the
- 1:05:01entire fucking game and I dare you to double team Loveland
- 1:05:06because I got Rome or or or or Bergeron or whoever.
- 1:05:10Johnny Walker, I got them running a post immediately
- 1:05:14following that, so I'm excited. So here's my other question, and
- 1:05:18I think Joy will appreciate this a lot because Joy, Joy is a
- 1:05:21Saints fan as well as she's a Go Tigers fan.
- 1:05:23She's a Tigers fan because she lives down in there in
- 1:05:26Louisiana. Do you think Loveland has a
- 1:05:31Jimmy Graham type of career? Because you talk about a dude
- 1:05:34with speed who was a big, I mean, obviously Jimmy Graham was
- 1:05:38a basketball player. So like he, he's just a monster
- 1:05:41of a dude just constantly. But I mean, he's kind of another
- 1:05:44one of those that I feel like because he was in the era of
- 1:05:48Kelsey and Gronk and whatnot, like he kind of gets forgotten
- 1:05:52about. Like do you think he kind of has
- 1:05:53like the Jimmy Graham thing to him too?
- 1:05:56Because Jimmy Graham was kind of under the radar.
- 1:05:57And I feel like what also hurt Jimmy, and I mean, also a former
- 1:06:01Bears tight end, actually not I think about it like he was great
- 1:06:05when he had when he was with the Saints, when he went to the
- 1:06:08Seattle Packers, no offense, but the Bears, like he, he just
- 1:06:14wasn't there. But man, when he was with Drew
- 1:06:16Brees, Ah, buddy, picture beauty.
- 1:06:20I love it. I, I'm going to not, I'm not
- 1:06:23going to duck this question, but I'm going to be truthful to this
- 1:06:26question. I think Colson Loveland's going
- 1:06:29to be the first Colson Loveland. I really do.
- 1:06:31I think Colson's in his own category right now.
- 1:06:34And the sky really is the limit. And of course, you can get away
- 1:06:38with saying these things after beating the Packers in the
- 1:06:41playoffs, after winning the division in your rookie year.
- 1:06:44It's all going to come down to year 2 for Coles and Loveland.
- 1:06:47You know what you're made of when guys have tape on you.
- 1:06:49And you are now likely going to be the number one option #1
- 1:06:53target for Caleb Williams. We're going to see what he's
- 1:06:55made of. I think he's a phenomenal
- 1:06:56blocker. I think he's an amazing route
- 1:06:58runner. I think he's got the shimmy
- 1:07:01shake that we've all been waiting for from a tight end
- 1:07:03because a guy like Cole Comet had cinder block feet at times.
- 1:07:07I'm really excited. But if I had to give a comp, I
- 1:07:10think Colson Loveland is in George Kittle category where
- 1:07:14it's like an absolute monster willing to run through a brick
- 1:07:17wall. Who's your favorite edge rusher?
- 1:07:19Who's your favorite nose tackle? All right, take his knees.
- 1:07:22You know what I mean? And then, oh, you got one of the
- 1:07:25best safeties on them. That's cool.
- 1:07:26One handed catch. He's awesome.
- 1:07:28It doesn't matter. Colson Loveland is that dude.
- 1:07:31He's got the swag, he's got the charisma, He's got that shit to
- 1:07:34him that you just don't see from a lot of tight ends in this
- 1:07:38league, at least nowadays. I feel like lately, I mean, the,
- 1:07:41the tight end classes over the last four or five years haven't
- 1:07:44been the greatest, but the last two years the, the, the Brock
- 1:07:48Bowers of the world, the Tyler Warrens, the Colson loved ones
- 1:07:51of the world, the tight end position is coming back.
- 1:07:53These aren't just guys who can catch the ball like these are
- 1:07:56guys who are truly making some noise.
- 1:07:58I know that's long winded, but man, Colson Loveland, I love
- 1:08:03you, baby. I say if it won for the fact
- 1:08:07that it's more than likely a quarterback award, would you put
- 1:08:10him in conversation for MVP? Fuck yeah, I would.
- 1:08:13Colson Loveland winning an MVP in his second year?
- 1:08:15Fuck yeah, I would. I don't if it was possible.
- 1:08:19If, like you said, if this wasn't a quarterback award.
- 1:08:21Fuck yeah. Everyone's talking about Matthew
- 1:08:23Stafford. Let me tell you.
- 1:08:24Let me crystal ball right here. What is today, the 11th of
- 1:08:30August? I'm telling you right now,
- 1:08:32Matthew Stafford is going to get slap Dick down to the IL.
- 1:08:36He is gone IR. Sorry, I'm still on baseball
- 1:08:39mode. He's going to be on that IR and
- 1:08:41you're going to have guys like Puka, guys like Adams fighting
- 1:08:46for 50 yard games, fighting for 50.
- 1:08:50I'm telling you right now, who's there?
- 1:08:51Back up the kid. George Tyson, Alabama.
- 1:08:56You're right. Yeah, No, who's what the fuck?
- 1:08:58Happened. Oh, Stetson did it.
- 1:08:59That's right. Stetson did it.
- 1:09:00I forgot about the did it. I'm not going to lie.
- 1:09:03Yeah, Ty and Ty's an interesting you want to talk about rookies
- 1:09:07that will be on the lookout for. That's a conversation I don't
- 1:09:10think. And I hear you.
- 1:09:11I hear you. I hear you.
- 1:09:12I hear you. I hear you.
- 1:09:13I'm not saying he's good. I'm just saying, I think when we
- 1:09:16talk about King or or Simpsons starting, I I would say the
- 1:09:24likelihood of Matthew Stafford getting injured at some point
- 1:09:27during the season is more likely than Bryce Young just completely
- 1:09:32becoming the worst quarterback to ever touch grass.
- 1:09:35But you know what the irony is behind that, though?
- 1:09:37What is that? Bryce Young, Alabama
- 1:09:39quarterback. Tie Simpson, Alabama
- 1:09:41quarterback. Hey.
- 1:09:42Man, we we know how that is. Ass but anyway.
- 1:09:47But no, I mean, I, I, I could definitely, I could definitely
- 1:09:50see it and it, and it does kind of suck that it is primarily a
- 1:09:53quarterback award because like what the last non quarterback to
- 1:09:57win MVP was a, was Adrian Peterson like all the way back
- 1:10:00in 2012. So I mean, it's been 14 years
- 1:10:03since literally anybody other than a quarterback has won it.
- 1:10:08But I, I do wonder man. And, and real quick, because
- 1:10:11this is kind of a tangent and this is where I actually wanted
- 1:10:13to go with this, with this question.
- 1:10:15Then my had a brain fart and I know we've talked about it, but
- 1:10:19again, just to bring it up for shits and giggles when we were
- 1:10:21talking about JJ and I told you it was like, hey man, just
- 1:10:24watch, watch the film on him. Like I don't trust him.
- 1:10:27And it's like, Oh well he didn't have to run.
- 1:10:29Like he was just he didn't have to throw.
- 1:10:31He's just a game manager. Like he had Donovan Edwards and
- 1:10:33he had Blake Corum has his 2 running backs.
- 1:10:38Like he had the 2 best running backs in the league.
- 1:10:39Like he didn't have to throw. Like, you know, you can make
- 1:10:43that same argument that the mailman Sesson Bennett got
- 1:10:47carried by two defenses to two national titles back-to-back,
- 1:10:52and guess where they drafted this man sixth round?
- 1:10:56This next round. So what are we fucking talking
- 1:10:59about? That's what fucking pisses me
- 1:11:01off. Stance embedded back-to-back.
- 1:11:04Fucking national championships back to fucking back.
- 1:11:08Yes, he did have absolute fucking monsters on that
- 1:11:13defense, but he held his weight. Watch college football, man.
- 1:11:17I'm tired of guys who wait around late March to April to
- 1:11:22start watching all these YouTube highlights of college football.
- 1:11:26You got me into the game. Jim Croft, Randy Jowers, Tony
- 1:11:29Hollingsworth. These guys got me into college
- 1:11:32football and baseball. I watch religiously now.
- 1:11:36You watch JJ McCarthy. He's Dick even in the
- 1:11:40championship games. 10 fucking or the 10 completions or 10
- 1:11:45passes total? I think 10 passes total or.
- 1:11:48In the championship game with Jim Harbaugh as the fucking head
- 1:11:54coach, he said spam HB dive the entire fucking game.
- 1:12:01It was like, remember the Titans where he said we're going to
- 1:12:03play all night, we're going to run the ball and they did and
- 1:12:11they won. Shout out to him.
- 1:12:13And they also may or may not have cheated, but that's a
- 1:12:15different topic topic. But the the point I'm making is
- 1:12:19simply Bennett goes day four and this kid goes top 10.
- 1:12:27You tell me why. Why?
- 1:12:29Because he went to fucking Michigan and Jim Harbaugh is
- 1:12:32making calls. And you know, Jim Harbaugh is
- 1:12:35making calls saying, hey, draft this kid, draft this kid.
- 1:12:38It's just it's not the same when you go to Georgia.
- 1:12:40Also, you know how I feel about the Georgia logo.
- 1:12:43Too close to Green Bay. Not a fan.
- 1:12:45That's who they mirrored it off of, actually.
- 1:12:46They actually asked Green Bay if they could have the copyright.
- 1:12:50They just had to change the colors.
- 1:12:52But yeah, man, also, I don't have an announcement yet, but I
- 1:12:58want this to be known. Shot kid Mike Hughes, a lot of
- 1:13:05pain in my heart saying this. In the next couple weeks, I will
- 1:13:12be making a decision of my allegiance of college football
- 1:13:17and where I will be heading. Tony V is out of the Tennessee
- 1:13:22Volunteers and football ain't getting no better.
- 1:13:27So I've been hanging out around with Tony and Jim Croft a lot
- 1:13:30lately. Just know there might be a
- 1:13:34change of the guard, but we'll we'll keep you posted.
- 1:13:36So you don't, obviously you ain't got to give this in, but
- 1:13:39what you're saying is LSU, the Tigers is in consideration.
- 1:13:43It's there's there's top three, there's three teams.
- 1:13:46OK. Do you like the list right now
- 1:13:48where I'm committed to? Absolutely.
- 1:13:50I just, I just want to hear. I won't judge, but I'll, I want
- 1:13:53to hear because you know me, I love college football.
- 1:13:55I'm obsessed of. Course.
- 1:13:58OK, so #1 obviously you're looking at a Tennessee with all
- 1:14:03peoples Might stay put, might not go anywhere.
- 1:14:06That's fair, that's fair, but potential's still there.
- 1:14:09And I mean, Josh Hykel, he always has great offensive
- 1:14:12potential's there. That's that's fair.
- 1:14:14And. They be bad money, That's the
- 1:14:15only question. They have they they split with
- 1:14:18them so far. Yeah, and then I got LSU.
- 1:14:21OK, Otagas. Otagas.
- 1:14:23Boomer Sooners. The Oklahoma Sooners.
- 1:14:27My sister lives in Oklahoma, she married a guy named Jake.
- 1:14:30Amazing individual and he is a huge Boomer Sooner fan.
- 1:14:35So yeah, I'm rocking with I'm rocking with one of the three.
- 1:14:39I will let you know next time I'm on the show.
- 1:14:42This is funny. You know what you're doing.
- 1:14:44You stay with the SEC even though you live in Big 10
- 1:14:47country buddy. Well, let me tell you something
- 1:14:49about just like the state of Illinois, Big 10, it fucking
- 1:14:53sucks. It's terrible.
- 1:14:56Ain't nothing good about it. And it it look, but I just live
- 1:15:00in Illinois. You just live in Indianapolis.
- 1:15:02Today I was awoken I'm I work at a school for people listening.
- 1:15:05I don't normally wake up at 10:00 AM, but I was awoken at
- 1:15:0810:00 AM because my phone was exploding because there was a
- 1:15:11tornado warning. I'm in the city of Chicago.
- 1:15:15There wasn't A and if you're watching this, I live and I'm
- 1:15:18still in the basement. So was no tornado and I and my
- 1:15:22taxes still suck. And the potholes are more scary
- 1:15:25than the tornado warnings. That's.
- 1:15:29As somebody who lives in Indiana, yeah, our our state
- 1:15:31flower is the traffic cone that helps block the potholes that
- 1:15:35they're. Huge.
- 1:15:36To they're monsters. I love Indianapolis though.
- 1:15:39When I went back and I can't wait to meet you when I go back
- 1:15:41up there. Man, I went to fuck.
- 1:15:44I forget the name of the stadium I think.
- 1:15:46It's Victory Field, is what they.
- 1:15:47Call it victory. Yeah, the Pittsburgh Pirates
- 1:15:49stadium for AAA affiliate. I was seeing Connor Griffin and
- 1:15:52I got to see the Colts facility right across the street.
- 1:15:56What a cool like boom, boom, boom.
- 1:15:58And it's like, that's such a cool thing for them to both
- 1:16:00still both be so close by. Yeah, they're, they're very
- 1:16:03central. I like, I will say the city does
- 1:16:05really well about centralizing everything.
- 1:16:08Everything's within like walking distance of each other like.
- 1:16:11The roads. The roads scared me, though.
- 1:16:13I'm not going to lie. It was like downtown Chicago.
- 1:16:15Have you ever drove that down? It's a mix but like for the most
- 1:16:20part it's two way traffic. So this in Indianapolis from the
- 1:16:24where I was at least it was just one fucking road.
- 1:16:27And I'm like trying to find out like yo is incoming traffic
- 1:16:31coming and there's like 5 fucking lanes and I'm just like
- 1:16:33it's kind of overwhelming especially when you trying to go
- 1:16:36from left to right and you on the left.
- 1:16:38And you trying. To go right.
- 1:16:40I know, I know exactly what street you're talking about too,
- 1:16:42'cause I'm like, Oh yeah, that's like 5.
- 1:16:43And dude is so confusing. It's such a pain, yes.
- 1:16:46Like, unless you live here, unless you know, Oh my God, it's
- 1:16:49such a pain. Yes, scary bro, not gonna lie.
- 1:16:51Yeah, it's such a pain, Yeah. But but yeah, I mean, that does
- 1:16:54raise the question, you know, like you live in the Midwest, so
- 1:16:57Ohio State's not in there. And I'm giving teams that have
- 1:16:59historically been good like I. Just I have a hard, I have a
- 1:17:04hard I, I want OOSU to be in that conversation.
- 1:17:11And it sounds weird because they they they won a championship
- 1:17:14recently, but like, it just feels like a bandwagon move,
- 1:17:18even though they haven't won a lot, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:17:22Like they're they're not like the biggest juggernaut, but I do
- 1:17:25feel like a bandwagon going to one of the big name, like I
- 1:17:29think 10 schools and I don't know, like I would love to.
- 1:17:31I remember strictly watching the Wisconsin Badgers for Jonathan
- 1:17:35Taylor. I watched all of the Jonathan
- 1:17:37Taylor Badger highlights. I watched every game.
- 1:17:40But like, I wouldn't be a Badger, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:42And plus, I'll be honest, you talk about rough football right
- 1:17:45now. Wisconsin's rough.
- 1:17:48Still my worst team in Wisconsin.
- 1:17:50Though 20. 1 to 321 to. Three Bears.
- 1:17:58But Mike, buddy, I appreciate you as always being on.
- 1:18:01It's fun as always. We got, buddy, we got less than
- 1:18:04three weeks and college football's back and then we got
- 1:18:08less than a month NFL football's back.
- 1:18:11So man, we ready. But you know what I'm really
- 1:18:13ready for? Ready for flipping jeans and
- 1:18:16hoodie weather. Tired of them roasting every
- 1:18:19time I walk outside dude. CMI bought new undies.
- 1:18:23No swamp ass this fall boys. I'm excited for some jeans.
- 1:18:28Right, right. But appreciate everybody tuning

- 1:19:32I'm just going to keep plugging along.
- 1:19:33He. Sort of won that race, by the
- 1:19:35way. He did.
- 1:19:36He finally got there. But nonetheless, if you like
- 1:19:39Mike's stuff, check him out at The Shy Kid.
- 1:19:40He covers all the great stuff. Dog bears, dog Cubs, not as much
- 1:19:45about the Blackhawks. I mean, you still cover them,
- 1:19:47but but not as much. And obviously when double s come
- 1:19:51into season, they'll be covering the Bulls too.
- 1:19:54It's. More like a therapy session.
- 1:19:56They say so if you want to see Mike pull his hair out that
- 1:19:58that'll probably be more more so that.
- 1:20:01But appreciate everybody tuning in and we will see you all next
