- 0:00Welcome back to Fostering Faith. And so I want
- 0:03to welcome you. For those that have been listening
- 0:05and those that are new, thank you so much for
- 0:08tuning in this week. I know that there's a million
- 0:10podcasts, but you chose to listen to this one
- 0:12for just even just a brief moment. We want to
- 0:15thank you for something that could possibly change
- 0:18your perspective. Thank you for tuning into this
- 0:20episode. My name is Tracy Foster. I am the host
- 0:23of Fostering Faith for this episode. And we're
- 0:25going to be talking about God's timing and trusting
- 0:27what he will use and what he wants to do through
- 0:31you. And so welcome back. And so we are in a
- 0:35conversation that I really do feel hits close
- 0:39to home. And so it's all about God's timing.
- 0:42I'm so glad that you're here today. If no one
- 0:44has ever told you lately, you matter. Your story
- 0:48matters. Your presence matters. And what God
- 0:51is doing in your life, even right now in the
- 0:53waiting, in the wondering, in the middle of the
- 0:56unknown, it matters. Today we're going to be
- 0:59diving into something that I think that every
- 1:01single one of us has wrestled with at one point
- 1:04or another. God's timing. Because let's be real,
- 1:07waiting is hard. And with the click button society
- 1:13and Amazon Prime, that used to be Primer than
- 1:17what it is now. But I mean, you have things on
- 1:20your doorstep within a matter of minutes and
- 1:22we don't want to wait anything and we don't want
- 1:23to buffer and we don't want to do anything. And
- 1:25it's really hard. to wait sometimes. Trusting
- 1:29is hard. Watching other people's lives take off
- 1:32while you're stuck feeling like the same place,
- 1:34doing the same thing, praying the same prayers.
- 1:37It's hard. But here's the truth. I want to speak
- 1:41it over you today. God's timing is perfect. And
- 1:44not only can he use everything that you're walking
- 1:47through to, if you allow him to, the messy, the
- 1:50mundane, the mistakes, the miracles, he will
- 1:53use it. And the biggest piece of the puzzle is
- 1:55believing. truly believing that he wants to do
- 2:00something powerful, purposeful, and personal
- 2:03through you. And so let's settle in, lean in,
- 2:07and open our hearts to see what God wants to
- 2:10say today. And so as we are in a season of being
- 2:15busy and not having patience and wanting things
- 2:18yesterday, whenever we ordered it today, but
- 2:20it's not here fast enough. And so How seeing
- 2:23God work in the middle of your day. And so let
- 2:26me start off by asking you, have you ever felt
- 2:28like God forgot about you? We've done an episode
- 2:32before about being left on read and where you
- 2:35think that God has not heard your prayer and
- 2:38has just left you. I mean, let's be honest. We
- 2:40know in our heads that he's always with us. We
- 2:43sing songs, we quote the verses, but our heart
- 2:46sometimes says otherwise, doesn't it? We say
- 2:51all the memory verses that we've memorized. We
- 2:53know that God is good. We know that he is all
- 2:55the things. But in our hearts, what's our heart
- 2:58really say? We see others moving forward. We
- 3:02watch friends announce engagements, promotions,
- 3:04new babies, breakthroughs. And we're just here.
- 3:10Waiting. Wondering. Working. Hoping. Maybe even
- 3:18crying when no one else is watching. If that's
- 3:22where you are today, I just want to say God has
- 3:26not forgotten you. We have Ecclesiastics 3 .1
- 3:29that says, There is a time for everything and
- 3:31a season for every activity under heaven. And
- 3:36what that tells me is this. Your time is coming.
- 3:40But if you skip the preparation season, you won't
- 3:43be ready for the purpose season. So you know
- 3:46who I think of when I think about God's timing?
- 3:50David. And so as we get into David's story, I
- 3:54want to share real life timing. And so in the
- 4:01office this week, I was able to encounter an
- 4:06atheist. And so I had met them and I was just
- 4:11like so ecstatic that... Whenever they came in,
- 4:14they were just like, you know, that they're an
- 4:15atheist. And I was just like, oh my gosh, that's
- 4:17wonderful. Did all the things and see you back
- 4:21here in a couple of weeks. So was able to pray
- 4:23for them and pray for them and just ask and pray
- 4:25for God. Just give me a chance. Give me an extended
- 4:28visit. Give me something that I can do to show
- 4:31her or him the way that you love. And so. As
- 4:39they had an appointment, they missed their appointment
- 4:41and I am booked and they messaged me and said,
- 4:45I overslept. And I was just like, okay, I don't
- 4:49know when I'll be able to get to see you. I go
- 4:51back on my schedule and the exact same time I
- 4:53had a patient cancel. So I was able to bring
- 4:57them in and was able to walk through 45 minutes
- 5:02of what would have been a 15 minute appointment
- 5:04if she didn't oversleep. And it was such an amazing
- 5:09process. Tears were shed, like weight was lifted,
- 5:13seeds were planted. And I got to tell her that
- 5:16she had been prayed over, that she is loved,
- 5:19that she sees the confusion in her heart and
- 5:22the unbelief and the questions that she had that
- 5:27weren't answered, which turned her away. He sees
- 5:31all that and he allowed her to be in an atmosphere
- 5:34where she is loved, where she is seen, where
- 5:36she is heard and where there is no judgment.
- 5:39But there is grace and there is mercy and there
- 5:42is education and there is just a presence of
- 5:47just being loved on whenever you've never been
- 5:49loved on before. And so I had another incident
- 5:53where a patient needed to be seen. didn't have
- 5:58any room. Um, my nurse had told me, you know,
- 6:00Hey, uh, it needs to be like a quick, a quick
- 6:03visit, but we don't have anything. What do you
- 6:04want to do? And I'm like, just, just double book
- 6:06this, just double book it here. Um, and then
- 6:09we'll just, we'll just make it work. Uh, so we
- 6:11double booked it and, um, another patient canceled.
- 6:16And so, because they couldn't get it because
- 6:18their car wouldn't start or something of that
- 6:19nature. And so was able to spend the appropriate
- 6:23amount of time walked through And almost everything
- 6:28that she needed to go through in a, in a manner
- 6:31of childhood trauma and the, the presence of
- 6:36God and just the timing that he is orchestrated
- 6:39and what he has put on her heart and the anxiety
- 6:42of her and her being disobedient and knowing
- 6:44what she's supposed to be doing, but she's not
- 6:46doing. And she was just like, oh my gosh, like,
- 6:49I cannot believe this appointment. Like, this
- 6:51is such a God moment. I mean, she was in tears.
- 6:56You know, I welcomed her into the family. And
- 6:58everything that she has been going through had
- 7:02led up to God's timing. And so if we allow God's
- 7:07plan to be worked through us, because God's will
- 7:10will be done, but will we allow him to use us?
- 7:13Because it is all free will. He will never make
- 7:18us do anything. And so it's about us being in.
- 7:22his will to do his will. And there is no better
- 7:26job to spread the light and the love that he
- 7:28has given to us. But we have to be patient. We
- 7:31have to have just a knowing that he is working
- 7:37behind the scenes. And so we have David. David
- 7:39was the appointed king as a teenager. The oil
- 7:42was poured on his head while he was still smelling
- 7:45like sheep because he was a shepherd. But did
- 7:48he go straight to the palace? No. went right
- 7:53back to the pasture. He was in there years before
- 7:56he ever took throne. And during that time, he
- 7:59was chased. He was hunted down, misunderstood,
- 8:03hidden in caves, forgotten by people, but not
- 8:07forgotten by God. Because what looked like a
- 8:11delay was actually development. God was forming
- 8:14something in David that only could be built in
- 8:17the waiting. And what he wants with your life,
- 8:22He'll do it, but you have to do it in the waiting.
- 8:24The waiting seasons are not wasted seasons. And
- 8:28so you're praying for a promotion. You're praying
- 8:30for a job. You're praying for this. You're praying
- 8:32for a spouse. You're praying for money. You're
- 8:35praying for whatever. But he's like, no, like
- 8:37you are not mature enough to have this. Like
- 8:39you cannot be in. a managerial role because you
- 8:43can't manage your house. Like I'm not going to
- 8:45give you and make and give you extra finances
- 8:48because you can't even manage what you have now.
- 8:50Why would I give you something that you cannot
- 8:53handle? Why would I give you something that is
- 8:55going to harm you? And so it really is about
- 8:58that waiting season while he's pruning things
- 9:00away from you, while he is allowing you to grow
- 9:03and mature into the person that he has created,
- 9:06but you have to realize it. So he is going to
- 9:08make you wait just like any good parent would.
- 9:11And so let's talk about something that's important,
- 9:13what God will use if you will let him. So to
- 9:18get you caught up on thinking we have been polished
- 9:21and perfected before God can work, let's think
- 9:27about it like this. And so like, let me fix this.
- 9:30Let me clean up. Let me get it all together.
- 9:32And then maybe I'll be worthy of getting something
- 9:36great for the kingdom. But friend, let me tell
- 9:39you. You are something God has been whispering
- 9:44in your heart. Has there been something that
- 9:46God has been telling you? And I can use anything
- 9:51if you surrender it to me. Have you surrendered
- 9:54what you're holding on so tight for? Your job,
- 9:57your career, your finances, your relationships,
- 10:00your heart. Has he whispered? I can use anything
- 10:04if you surrender it to me. Hear me. Anything.
- 10:09That broken relationship, he can use it. The
- 10:12season of loss, he can use that. A poor decision
- 10:15from 10 years ago that still you beat yourself
- 10:18up over, yep, he can use that too. Your past
- 10:23does not disqualify you. It gives you a testimony.
- 10:28And so just talking to a patient today, they
- 10:31were in a season of just being mad because of
- 10:34what happened. And she could not believe that
- 10:37God would allow this to happen. I said, but what
- 10:40happens if you let him use that pain for purpose?
- 10:42What happens if you use that testimony to help
- 10:49someone else out? And so she was just like, oh
- 10:53my gosh, like I've been wanting to be. a counselor.
- 10:58I just can't get, I can't shake it. And it's
- 11:03because she had went through trauma and she was
- 11:06able to walk through that with him. But yet she
- 11:09had a period of being mad and being just like,
- 11:12you know, just disconnected from God and kind
- 11:14of walking away because all these negative things
- 11:16happened. I said, but yeah, but what happens
- 11:18if you allow him to use that pain for purpose?
- 11:21And we have Romans 8, 28 that says, and we know
- 11:24that all things. God works for those who love
- 11:28him and who have been called according to his
- 11:31purpose. That means that good things, hard things,
- 11:33ugly things, confusing things, all things, things
- 11:36that we do not understand because it's above
- 11:39our pay grade and we have no business knowing
- 11:40because if we were meant to know, he would tell
- 11:43us. But if we have no business knowing, he is
- 11:46not going to tell us. He's going to keep us safe.
- 11:48Stay in your lane. I'll tell you what you need
- 11:51to know. But the key is, are you willing to give
- 11:54it to him? Are we willing to say, Lord, I don't
- 11:57know how you're going to use this pain, but I
- 12:00trust you with it. I don't know how you'll redeem
- 12:03this mess, but I'm giving it back to you. Take
- 12:07my story, take every part of it and use it for
- 12:10your glory. And so everything that we do, everything
- 12:14that we do. would bring him glory. Your job,
- 12:19your finances, your marriage, your relationships,
- 12:21your text messages, all the things can be used
- 12:25to bring him glory. Because listen, God can work
- 12:29through surrender a whole lot more than he can
- 12:32work through self -sufficiency. Let that simmer
- 12:36for a little bit. And so let's talk about something
- 12:39even a little deeper. Believing in what God wants
- 12:42to do through you. Not just believing in God,
- 12:46but believing that God actually wants to use
- 12:52you. Do you believe that? Not that you show up
- 13:00on Sundays looking all put together. Not that
- 13:02you are that person that is seen on social media.
- 13:06I'm talking about the real you. The one with
- 13:09the doubts, the insecurities, the struggles,
- 13:11and those secrets. It's the things that go behind
- 13:18closed doors. It's the belief of I've screwed
- 13:22up so bad. There's no way that he would give
- 13:24me integrity. There's no way that he would give
- 13:26me that honor into growing his kingdom. That's
- 13:30the God that you choose. That's the you he called.
- 13:36And that's the you he can use. The doubt, the
- 13:40unbelief, the struggles. He can use all of that
- 13:42if you will allow him. Ephesians 2 .10 says,
- 13:46for we are God's masterpiece, created in Christ
- 13:49Jesus to do all good works, which God prepared
- 13:52us in advance for us to do. In advance, not delayed,
- 13:57not late, but his perfect timing. That means
- 14:01that we're on assignment with your name on it.
- 14:07things only you can do people that only you can
- 14:10reach lives that will only be changed because
- 14:13of you. If you step into what he is asking you
- 14:16to do, but you got to believe in it. You've got
- 14:20to grab it and hold onto it. You've got to. let
- 14:23go of the silence of the enemy's voice in your
- 14:26head that says you're not good enough. God says
- 14:29that I am chosen. God says that I am called.
- 14:31He says that I'm a masterpiece. And so that is
- 14:33what you are controlling your thoughts were because
- 14:36whenever the God, whenever the devil says that
- 14:38you're not worthy, that you are not worth it,
- 14:39no one is going to believe you. You screwed up
- 14:41too many times. That was, that was your last
- 14:43chance. He has created you for a season, a reason,
- 14:49a purpose, a calling. And it's because of you,
- 14:53you went through that circumstance and you're
- 14:55going to be able to help that one person because
- 15:06it's you, because you had a testimony, because
- 15:08you faced whatever you had and you have street
- 15:11credit in that. If you had a parent that was
- 15:14murdered and you've walked through that anger
- 15:16and that grief and that disbelief and just been
- 15:19mad at God, but you now see his glory in that
- 15:22pain for purpose. I don't have that street credit.
- 15:25I don't have that. But do I have the street credit
- 15:28of being 300 pounds, being on a fitness journey,
- 15:31being on over 100 units of insulin, reversing
- 15:34my Hashimoto's? Yeah, I've got to do all that.
- 15:39But I don't have the street credit that you have.
- 15:42Because God has allowed certain things to go
- 15:44through your life. Because you are chosen. Because
- 15:48you are the ones that are called. The things
- 15:51that we go through in life are not for us. It's
- 15:53to help somebody else out. It is a testimony
- 15:56on the other end of it. And yes, it's scary.
- 15:58Stepping out in faith is scary. Trusting him
- 16:01can be hard. Because we're walking by faith,
- 16:04not by a plan. Giving him your pain is vulnerable.
- 16:09But obedience... will always lead to blessings,
- 16:12even if the path is uncertain. He's not going
- 16:16to give you a blueprint and tell you what to
- 16:20do. That's not the God that we serve. He's saying,
- 16:23trust me, let me know what you are doing and
- 16:28allow me to work in your life. And so let's take
- 16:32a few takeaways from this. If you're driving
- 16:35or running or folding laundry, while you listen,
- 16:39Let's settle your spirit and let's just kind
- 16:42of remember these five things. And so God is
- 16:44never late. He can use anything. God wants to
- 16:49do something through you. Don't rush the process
- 16:53and believe even when it's hard, even when you
- 16:57can't see it. And so let's walk through those.
- 17:01And so one, God is never late. He is not stalling.
- 17:05He is not unsure. He is working behind the scenes
- 17:09in the ways that you can't even imagine. I mean,
- 17:12the microseconds, the appointments, the cancellations,
- 17:18all these things, he's orchestrating months in
- 17:23advance, days in advance, years in advance. He
- 17:26is in your tomorrow. And number two, God can
- 17:31use anything. There is nothing in your life he
- 17:35cannot redeem. restore, or repurpose, but you
- 17:40have to allow him to. You have to open up your
- 17:44hands and surrender. Whatever you feel like you
- 17:47have to be in control over, please know that
- 17:50he will do a better job at managing it than you
- 17:52ever would. Number three, God wants to do something
- 17:57through you. You're not here by accident. You're
- 18:01not disqualified, but you are chosen. You are
- 18:05equipped. and you are loved, and you were made
- 18:09for just a time as this. Everything that has
- 18:12happened in you, all the mistakes that you have
- 18:14made, all the paths that you have chose on your
- 18:17own, but yet you're still here despite your best
- 18:19efforts. And so God can use all of that if you
- 18:23allow him and invite him in. Number four, don't
- 18:28rush the process. What God is building in your
- 18:32waiting, during your wait, will be very... foundational
- 18:37to what you stand on later. And so while you're
- 18:40waiting, while you're praying, while you are
- 18:41weeping, while you are crying, while you are
- 18:43on your knees, while you are fasting, he is building
- 18:46a foundation, a firm foundation, because we cannot
- 18:49have wavy faith. If we're going to walk and be
- 18:52a disciple, if we're going to be a Christ ambassador,
- 18:54we have to have a strong foundation. before us.
- 18:58And so he is building us up. He is building us
- 19:00up from the foundation, from our feet up. And
- 19:03so whenever we stand firm against the enemy's
- 19:05schemes, we are well rooted and well, well established
- 19:09in what the word says. And so therefore we cannot
- 19:13be shaken. And so number five, believe even when
- 19:18it's hard, even when you cannot see it, believe
- 19:21that he is still working. He is still seeing
- 19:24you, that your breakthrough isn't canceled. It's
- 19:27just being cultivated. And so even when it seems
- 19:30hard and you know that God has called you to
- 19:33whatever it is you feel like you're supposed
- 19:35to be doing, even whenever you cannot see it,
- 19:38there's no way I am going to be an entrepreneur.
- 19:40There is no way that I'm going to be and produce
- 19:43music. There's no way that I'm going to be a
- 19:44doctor. There's no way that I'm going to be a
- 19:46nurse. There's no way. There's no way I can afford
- 19:48that school. But he has a plan. But we just have
- 19:52to walk and trust and know. that he is working
- 19:57all things out for those that are looking and
- 20:00honestly seeking his face. He is not a genie.
- 20:02He is not rub a lamp and just like pray for things
- 20:05and get it. No, he's not like that. He is a father
- 20:09and he wants the best for his children and he
- 20:12loves you and he wants you to want him. And so
- 20:18I want to challenge you today. What's the one
- 20:20thing that you need to surrender? What's the
- 20:23one area of your life where you need to stop
- 20:25fighting for control and start trusting in God's
- 20:28timing? What's the dream that you need to believe
- 20:31in again? What's that dream that he put on your
- 20:33heart 10 years ago, 15 years ago, five months
- 20:36ago, and you gave up because he didn't give you
- 20:38a plan, but you didn't take the step. And so
- 20:41what is it that you need to do to surrender what
- 20:45God has called you for, but yet you won't let
- 20:48go of? Write it down. Speak it out and take it
- 20:54to prayer. And so, you know, I'm a huge fan of
- 20:57journaling and write it down, speak it out, go
- 21:00to him with it and take it to prayer. And if
- 21:03you're listening and thinking, Tracy, I want
- 21:05to trust him, but I don't know how. Let me remind
- 21:08you, you don't have to have it all the answers.
- 21:12You just have to take the next step. One act
- 21:16of obedience at a time. one moment of faith at
- 21:18a time. It is not a sprint. It is a marathon.
- 21:22And so you take that first step of the branch.
- 21:25And if he pushes you, he will either teach you
- 21:28how to fly or he will catch you. One of the two
- 21:32is going to happen. And so I want to thank you
- 21:35so much for spending this time with me today.
- 21:37I hope this has encouraged your heart, filled
- 21:39your spirit, and reminded you that God is still
- 21:42writing your story. If this episode spoke to
- 21:44you, share it with a friend. Text it to someone
- 21:47who is in the waiting season and remind them
- 21:49and yourself that God's timing is worth trusting.
- 21:53His plan is worth believing and your story is
- 21:56worth sharing. Until next time on Fostering Faith,
- 22:00one moment at a time, one step at a time, one
- 22:03surrendered season. at a time. And so we would
- 22:07love to pray for you. We would love to encourage
- 22:10you to write, review, leave some comments, help
