- 0:00Speaker 1: If you feel mentally overwhelmed, we have something here I
- 0:04Speaker 1: think might make you feel better. 106.7 Light FM, Cubby, Christine,
- 0:07Speaker 1: and Kristen made me feel better when you told me
- 0:09Speaker 1: about it. It was a good way to kind of
- 0:11Speaker 1: view things.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah, we share so we know we're not alone and
- 0:14Speaker 2: it's okay. If you do feel overwhelmed and you're forgetting things,
- 0:18Speaker 2: it's okay, Cubby. We may have too many tabs open.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Love that analogy.
- 0:23Speaker 2: It is wonderful. Some psychologists are calling it. It feels
- 0:26Speaker 2: like your brain has 37 tabs open at the same time.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Like 47 or 57 for me.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Tell me about it. So it's going on for most
- 0:34Speaker 2: of us, right? This was a survey of over 2,000 people,
- 0:37Speaker 2: and we're just finding life a little overwhelming. What's clogging
- 0:41Speaker 2: up all that mental bandwidth? Work deadlines, meetings, appointments, household chores, bills.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Basically the endless list of adult responsibilities. So signs that
- 0:52Speaker 2: you have too many tabs open include putting something somewhere
- 0:55Speaker 2: safe and then you forgot where you put it.
- 0:57Speaker 1: All the time.
- 0:58Speaker 2: All the time. You know, you walk into a room
- 1:02Speaker 2: and you forget why you went in there. Remembering something
- 1:05Speaker 2: important right as you're falling asleep. Does your mind race?
- 1:11Speaker 1: All the time. You think of the most important things.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And then one, actually last week I Googled, how do
- 1:16Speaker 1: I stop my mind from racing? And I got several
- 1:19Speaker 1: quotes that made me feel better. Like, you know, worrying
- 1:22Speaker 1: tonight won't solve tomorrow. That kind of stuff.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Some of the old school sayings are very true. Right. Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But I wish we had a button on our body
- 1:30Speaker 1: where we could do a control alt delete or just restart.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Clear cache.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Because too many tabs is a real thing.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Last night, Eric said to me, because I have such
- 1:41Speaker 2: a hard time falling asleep again because of thoughts, he said,
- 1:43Speaker 2: could you just unplug your brain? I'm like, yeah, I
- 1:45Speaker 2: wish I could.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It'd be amazing if we could, right?
- 1:47Speaker 2: We could just do that. But yeah, this is just
- 1:49Speaker 2: that general overwhelm. I don't know. I get to the
- 1:51Speaker 2: point where it's like my head hurts and I do.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I feel like I have to shut down. Like I
- 1:56Speaker 2: can't even answer sometimes text messages or DM or anything.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I just.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Or a text comes in. I used to feel like
- 2:02Speaker 1: I had to respond to a text right away. I
- 2:04Speaker 1: let texts... Sit sometimes. I'm like, I can't. I just can't.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yes. Right. What is that?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Meanwhile, my kids.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's immediate.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Their brains are nice and fresh. Yeah. Like Naomi will say,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you know, on July 5th around noon, you said we
- 2:17Speaker 1: go to the playground.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And not only that, she'll tell you in German.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Right. I know, like that fresh mind.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, she's learning.
- 2:24Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It's incredible. But yes, we are not alone. Not to
- 2:27Speaker 2: be concerned if you're going through this.
- 2:29Speaker 1: If you can relate, give us a text. In fact,
- 2:31Speaker 1: we are open for text business. What's up with you today?
- 2:34Speaker 2: 44363.
