1:43
Speaker 2: we're devastating flooding here in the Kadaha Valley stretching down
1:45
Speaker 2: really to Fayett and Raleigh Counties too. City of Charleston
1:48
Speaker 2: under state of emergency. Now that announcement coming yesterday, we
1:51
Speaker 2: have more than that covered up. Introduced meteorologist Brian Hughes says,
1:55
Speaker 2: we finally dry out with only a slight mention of
1:57
Speaker 2: rain and storms, plus the humidity will be greatly reduced.
1:59
Speaker 2: That it's good news. We'll see some sunshine, temps of

2:32
Speaker 2: We'll talk to Commissioner Selango and I have several other
2:34
Speaker 2: things to get into with him as well. Thursday and

Speaker 2: welcome to the show. Now, our Attorney General of the

Speaker 2: Great State of wes Strogenia.
3:01
Speaker 6: JB.
3:02
Speaker 2: Mccusky, Good morning, Welcome to the show, sir.
3:05
Speaker 7: Good morning, Dave, And we should probably start by talking
3:08
Speaker 7: a little bit about all of our fellow West Virginians
3:11
Speaker 7: that are really struggling this morning, and you know, really
3:14
Speaker 7: for the last week all over the state. I mean,
3:16
Speaker 7: it's there's some tough, tough spots out there, and you know,
3:19
Speaker 7: our thoughts and prayers are with everybody out there. But
3:22
Speaker 7: the you know, we've talked about this before. These kind
3:25
Speaker 7: of disasters bring the frausters out right.
3:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean we see it unfortunately, and I
3:32
Speaker 2: haven't had any reports of any yet. Your office may have,
3:35
Speaker 2: I don't know, but anytime we have this situation like this,
3:38
Speaker 2: they come out and we just want folks to be
3:40
Speaker 2: vigilant about it. What are some of the things that
3:43
Speaker 2: examples maybe in the past, not that we want to
3:45
Speaker 2: give anybody any ideas or anything, but in the past,
3:47
Speaker 2: some of the things that that your office has seen
3:49
Speaker 2: when it comes to situations like this.
3:51
Speaker 7: Yeah, I think the first and most important thing is,
3:55
Speaker 7: you know, if it feels weird, it probably is. And
3:59
Speaker 7: you know, our instinct is West Virginians is to be
4:02
Speaker 7: trusting and to believe in sort of the goodness of
4:05
Speaker 7: other people. And the problem with that instinct is particularly
4:08
Speaker 7: an instances where people are suffering, where people are desperate,
4:13
Speaker 7: that desperation can lead to really bad decision making. Always
4:19
Speaker 7: check with the Better Business Bureau, Check with the Secretary
4:21
Speaker 7: of State, Check with our office. Anytime you have contractors
4:25
Speaker 7: that are going door to door, anytime you are receiving
4:27
Speaker 7: phone calls about loan options, anytime somebody's calling you saying
4:32
Speaker 7: they're from FEMA, anybody who's calling and saying you know,
4:34
Speaker 7: they have some great solution for what your problem that
4:38
Speaker 7: has befallen you only in the last couple of days.
4:41
Speaker 7: Be vigilant about that. And when something feels like a scam,
4:45
Speaker 7: there's a pretty good chance that it probably is one.
4:48
Speaker 7: You can report that to our office. We have people
4:51
Speaker 7: whose job it is specifically to make sure that our
4:54
Speaker 7: West Virginia consumers are protected and taken care of. But
4:59
Speaker 7: just be safe out there. And you know, I'm a
5:02
Speaker 7: Harrison County guy. I saw the flooding that was happening
5:05
Speaker 7: up there. It looks like the Bridgeport Athletic facility at
5:09
Speaker 7: the high School is underwater and one of our beloved restaurants,
5:13
Speaker 7: all of areas over there in Bridgeport is having some
5:15
Speaker 7: real troubles too. So everybody in Harrison County, all across
5:18
Speaker 7: the state, you know, our prayers are with you. If
5:20
Speaker 7: there's anything the AG's Office can do, let us know.
5:23
Speaker 7: And if you get any an inkling that there might
5:25
Speaker 7: be somebody trying to scam our good hearted neighbors, please
5:29
Speaker 7: give us a call and let us let us find
5:30
Speaker 7: them and get rid of them.
5:31
Speaker 2: And we want to make sure that people realize this
5:33
Speaker 2: doesn't mean people that come up I mean face in
5:36
Speaker 2: West Virginia where all as you said, you're a Harrison
5:39
Speaker 2: County guy. You know, I live at Putnam County, Logan County.
5:41
Speaker 2: By nature, what we know our neighbors, you know, that's
5:46
Speaker 2: the thing. And when you have somebody that just shows
5:49
Speaker 2: up that maybe at your house that you've never seen
5:52
Speaker 2: in the neighborhood before, maybe a truck or van that
5:54
Speaker 2: you don't recognize, and look, they may have the best
5:56
Speaker 2: of intentions, but it's real simple to find out if
5:59
Speaker 2: they're if they're in good standing. As you mentioned the
6:01
Speaker 2: Secretary of State's Office, that's a great website you can
6:03
Speaker 2: go to to make sure these it's just a business
6:05
Speaker 2: in good standing in West Virginia, because if they're a
6:07
Speaker 2: reputable business JB, then they're going to be on there.
6:11
Speaker 7: Yeah, and that applies to charities too. There's a lot
6:14
Speaker 7: of people in most Virginia who weren't affected by this
6:16
Speaker 7: flooding who are going to try to help their their
6:18
Speaker 7: their neighbors, and you know, make sure that when you're
6:22
Speaker 7: giving money, you're giving it to UH, you're giving it
6:25
Speaker 7: to a reputable place. And you know, the Red Cross
6:28
Speaker 7: is a really great place to start if you're just
6:31
Speaker 7: looking looking for a way to help. Make sure you're
6:33
Speaker 7: giving your money to somebody who's going to take that
6:36
Speaker 7: money and h and use it wisely. We learned this
6:38
Speaker 7: lesson in the auditor's office in spades during during the
6:42
Speaker 7: first set of flooding down in Greenbrier and Summers and
6:46
Speaker 7: Nicholas and Faya Counties. You know, there were millions of
6:50
Speaker 7: dollars given that were never appropriately given to the people
6:54
Speaker 7: UH in you know, places like rich Wood. So just
6:57
Speaker 7: be vigilant. If you're going to be generous, please be generous,
7:00
Speaker 7: but please do so in a smart way and make
7:02
Speaker 7: sure your money's going to somebodyho's actually gonna help one
7:04
Speaker 7: of us.
7:04
Speaker 2: We're talking again with Attorney General Jimmy McCuskey to Dave
7:07
Speaker 2: Island Show and five Any Line brought to you and
7:08
Speaker 2: part by the Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds are on the
7:10
Speaker 2: road all this week taking on Gastonian their back at
7:13
Speaker 2: Gomart Ballpark, though next Tuesday started a series against Lancaster.
7:16
Speaker 2: Visit dirty Birds Baseball dot com. From information, I'm going
7:19
Speaker 2: take a look at a case that your office was
7:22
Speaker 2: involved in. A federal court has struck down a bill,
7:26
Speaker 2: and if I understand this correctly, so Congress reduced a
7:31
Speaker 2: two hundred dollars tax on gun silencers, short barreled rifles, shotguns,
7:38
Speaker 2: et cetera, to zero as part of the Big Beautiful Bill.
7:41
Speaker 2: It did, however, keep a lot of the paperwork like
7:44
Speaker 2: photographs and fingerprint requirements, et cetera, in your office in
7:48
Speaker 2: other states had a problem with that. Do I have
7:50
Speaker 2: that correct? Yeah.
7:52
Speaker 7: So the only way that Congress is allowed to regulate
7:55
Speaker 7: in the area that we're talking about, which is, you know,
7:59
Speaker 7: certain kinds of fire and certain firearms accessories which are
8:02
Speaker 7: otherwise legal, is through their taxing authority. And once the
8:06
Speaker 7: tax was taken down to zero, which, as you accurately mentioned,
8:10
Speaker 7: happened in the Big Beautiful Bill. It became unconstitutional for
8:15
Speaker 7: the ATF, in our opinion, to continue to require that
8:19
Speaker 7: level of paperwork and registration, et cetera, because this came,
8:23
Speaker 7: you know, sort of as part of a wholly separate
8:26
Speaker 7: piece of legislation a judge in Texas per the prompting
8:31
Speaker 7: of the lead tech. The lead state here was Texas, Kansas,
8:35
Speaker 7: West Virginia, Montana, where all major players and getting this
8:39
Speaker 7: done has enjoined that regulatory scheme as it applies to
8:44
Speaker 7: the ATF. What we don't know yet and what we
8:46
Speaker 7: are working on, is how wide that injunction in terms
8:52
Speaker 7: of what this regulation does applies across the country, but
8:56
Speaker 7: for us specifically here in West Virginia. What we know
8:59
Speaker 7: is that discipline to the named plaintiffs, which would be
9:03
Speaker 7: the government of West Virginia, as well as members of
9:05
Speaker 7: the interest groups that were involved. We are working diligently
9:09
Speaker 7: with our partner states as well as with the federal
9:11
Speaker 7: government to get some clarity on what this injunction means
9:14
Speaker 7: right now. But our advice to everybody Number one is
9:19
Speaker 7: a huge victory for the second Amendment. But number two
9:21
Speaker 7: is to continue to follow follow the guidance of the ATF.
9:24
Speaker 7: It doesn't make any sense to martyr yourself to put
9:27
Speaker 7: yourself in jeopardy until we have some real answers as
9:31
Speaker 7: to how widespread this injunction flows.
9:35
Speaker 2: So what else is keeping you busy these days? Attorney General?
9:39
Speaker 2: You've been out on the road, you've been what do
9:40
Speaker 2: you what you been doing here lately?
9:41
Speaker 7: We're doing all kinds of stuff. You know, we have
9:44
Speaker 7: this great, big case against Apple. We've had, we won
9:48
Speaker 7: a good victory in the federal courts over there in Huntington,
9:52
Speaker 7: keeping that case in West Virginia State court. You know,
9:55
Speaker 7: we've talked about this before, but Apple is harboring hundreds
9:59
Speaker 7: of millions, if not billions, of images of child rape,
10:02
Speaker 7: child sexual exploitation, and we are holding them to account
10:06
Speaker 7: so that we can hopefully give our law enforcement partners
10:09
Speaker 7: the ability to get a hold of those images and
10:11
Speaker 7: find the monsters who are who are keeping them and
10:14
Speaker 7: selling them and using them to exploit children. We continue
10:17
Speaker 7: at our fight against the pharmacy benefit managers, who we
10:21
Speaker 7: believe contributed mightily to the opioid crisis. We have, you know,
10:26
Speaker 7: we have several hearings coming up on those, but we
10:28
Speaker 7: feel really good about those cases, and we just continue
10:31
Speaker 7: the fight to hopefully get permitting reform done. In Congress.
10:36
Speaker 7: We've been fighting to get the Protect College Sports Act
10:39
Speaker 7: across the line. Our office worked very very closely with
10:42
Speaker 7: Senator Cruz and Senator Schmidt to try to get a
10:45
Speaker 7: vote on that bill last or two weeks ago. I
10:48
Speaker 7: guess unfortunately that did not happen. It appears that we
10:51
Speaker 7: have a vote on that coming in the in the
10:53
Speaker 7: September term when they come back. That's an incredibly important
10:58
Speaker 7: bill for the colleges here in West Virginia, specifically Marshall
11:01
Speaker 7: and WVU. If this NIL system doesn't get fixed, what
11:07
Speaker 7: we're going to find is the sort of mid sized
11:09
Speaker 7: state schools like Marshall and WU are we'll be in
11:12
Speaker 7: real trouble. And that trouble really flows into particularly women's
11:17
Speaker 7: sports as well as the Olympic sports that don't generate
11:20
Speaker 7: too much revenue, but those are very important things to
11:23
Speaker 7: the people of West Virginia and we want to make
11:24
Speaker 7: sure that every woman and girl here in the state
11:27
Speaker 7: has the opportunity to participate in high end college athletics.
11:31
Speaker 7: At one of our two premier universities here in the state.
11:34
Speaker 2: And of course you got a couple of young ladies
11:36
Speaker 2: that you're trying to get ready to start school. I
11:38
Speaker 2: guess right, did they already started?
11:39
Speaker 7: I do tomorrow. Tomorrow's our first day at school. Yesterday
11:43
Speaker 7: was one of those crazy days as a parent and
11:45
Speaker 7: all the parents out there who have a couple of
11:47
Speaker 7: kids in school. We had we had an open house
11:50
Speaker 7: at the elementary school. Then we had our first ever
11:52
Speaker 7: open house at the junior high school where my daughter goes.
11:57
Speaker 7: So she's starting middle school, which is terrifying. I didn't
11:59
Speaker 7: have any kids when I first got elected, and now
12:01
Speaker 7: I have one that's in middle school. We have middle
12:03
Speaker 7: school soccer, so that's happening every day, it feels like
12:07
Speaker 7: twice a day. But the Lady Falcons are going to
12:10
Speaker 7: kick some butt this year, and we're really proud of
12:11
Speaker 7: our daughter for making the team.
12:13
Speaker 2: Got got to get that plug in for the team, right,
12:16
Speaker 2: you know, for the Lady Falcons.
12:17
Speaker 7: You know what you know? It's it is. I am
12:19
Speaker 7: a loyal fan of anything that my children are doing,
12:22
Speaker 7: and so I will be the lead booster for the
12:24
Speaker 7: Lady Falcons to season.
12:25
Speaker 2: Just don't just don't get kicked out of a game
12:26
Speaker 2: or something. Okay, you's a very quiet parent.
12:29
Speaker 5: I don't.
12:30
Speaker 7: I don't yell and scream at the games because you know,
12:33
Speaker 7: I learned a long time ago that your kids want
12:36
Speaker 7: you to be there, but they don't want to hear you.
12:38
Speaker 7: And the best, the best strategy for a parent is
12:41
Speaker 7: to let your coaches coach your kids, tell them you're
12:43
Speaker 7: proud of them when they get done, and if they
12:45
Speaker 7: want to talk about the things they need to do
12:47
Speaker 7: to get better. It's always it's always better when your
12:49
Speaker 7: kids chooses to do that on their own.
12:51
Speaker 2: Triney General JB. Mccowsky, appreciate you being here. We'll talk
12:54
Speaker 2: against the man. Thanks a lot.
12:55
Speaker 7: Hey, you know what, that actually is a good plug
12:57
Speaker 7: for everybody. School sports are starting. Don't don't be a
13:00
Speaker 7: jerk as a parent. Don't yell at the referees, don't
13:03
Speaker 7: yell at your kids. Coach, be a great parent, enjoy
13:06
Speaker 7: this time with your kids. It is so much more
13:09
Speaker 7: fun to be a fan than it is to be
13:12
Speaker 7: an active participant in the officiating of the games that
13:15
Speaker 7: you're watching. These officials aren't getting paid very much. We're
13:18
Speaker 7: grateful to all of them, so you know, be as
13:20
Speaker 7: kind to them as you possibly can be.
13:22
Speaker 2: But that's a good way to put it. You're a
13:23
Speaker 2: regular after school special, you know that.
13:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know what, the more you know, JB.
13:29
Speaker 2: Because you appreciate you being here. Man, thanks a lot.
13:31
Speaker 7: All right, Thanks.
13:32
Speaker 2: But WRC Media Cares for Kids Radio Thon is happening

17:00
Speaker 2: Welcome to the show. Good morning, thanks for having me on.
17:02
Speaker 2: Start with the flooding over the weekend City of Charleston,
17:05
Speaker 2: onward to you know, Cabin Creek and so many other
17:09
Speaker 2: areas that we're hit and are still still doing a
17:12
Speaker 2: lot of clean up and will be for some time.
17:14
Speaker 2: Then we're we're doing it.
17:14
Speaker 9: We're having a meeting this morning about doing a clean
17:17
Speaker 9: up for Cross Lanes and also in the Upper Knaw Valley,
17:20
Speaker 9: you know, Campbell's Creek, Cabin Creek, Paint Creek, those areas,
17:24
Speaker 9: so we'll have more information out typically what we'll do
17:27
Speaker 9: in a situation like that. We can't have dump sites
17:30
Speaker 9: because DP has to get involved. It takes a lot,
17:34
Speaker 9: you know, there's a lot of red tape and paperwork.
17:37
Speaker 9: So we'll do curbside so as long as down we
17:40
Speaker 9: can't enter private property. But if you put it out
17:42
Speaker 9: by the road, raay. So we're working on that plan.
17:45
Speaker 2: That is a very thank you for bringing that up
17:47
Speaker 2: because we just dealt with this in Upshur County and
17:50
Speaker 2: Lewis County. You had to any time we have one
17:52
Speaker 2: of these situations, we have to try to you know,
17:54
Speaker 2: make sure people understand they you know, the crews cannot
17:57
Speaker 2: come on private property. They are forbidden by law from
18:00
Speaker 2: coming on private property. So when the time is right,
18:03
Speaker 2: and we'll give you the information as to when it's
18:05
Speaker 2: going to happen, you got to bring that stuff to
18:07
Speaker 2: the curb.
18:08
Speaker 9: Yeah, that's that's a pain. It's a you know, dragging
18:12
Speaker 9: out wet stuff. It's heavy. Yeah, but we can't go.
18:15
Speaker 5: To your porch.
18:16
Speaker 9: You have to take it to the curb by law.
18:18
Speaker 9: So anyway, so that's the plan, and we should have
18:21
Speaker 9: the routes and times and days and everything. I've also
18:24
Speaker 9: inquired about whether we can get these you know, these
18:27
Speaker 9: mass of like thirty forty qbic yard dumpsters and set
18:30
Speaker 9: them in various locations and crossings. We're working on that too.
18:33
Speaker 9: I don't have any finalized plans for that. So that's
18:36
Speaker 9: kind of the that's what we're doing right now in
18:38
Speaker 9: terms of cleanup. But the information that I received this
18:42
Speaker 9: morning actually was last night. It was the highest rain
18:47
Speaker 9: total that had been recorded at Yager Airport since July
18:50
Speaker 9: nineteenth of nineteen sixty one, four point two three inches
18:54
Speaker 9: of rain. The record was five point six inches back
18:59
Speaker 9: in July nineteen sixty one. So you know, it's been
19:01
Speaker 9: sixty some years since Charleston has seen this type of
19:06
Speaker 9: weather event rainfall. I mean, we've had dray shows, yeah, events,
19:10
Speaker 9: But most areas in Kinnaw County received two to four
19:12
Speaker 9: inches of rain throughout the day, and of course, you know,
19:16
Speaker 9: we've highlighted the ones that were most hit. We had
19:20
Speaker 9: twenty one hundred emergency calls come in through dispatch. Eight
19:25
Speaker 9: hundred and fifty of those calls first responders were dispatched
19:30
Speaker 9: sixty water rescues. Think about that, sixty water rescues. So
19:34
Speaker 9: and by the way, that would not have been possible
19:36
Speaker 9: with the fire Department. The City of Charleston and the
19:39
Speaker 9: City of South Charleston. Thank you because they pitched in.
19:42
Speaker 9: They helped us with water rescues in the Upper Canal Valley.
19:46
Speaker 9: Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get to the mall.
19:48
Speaker 9: We had over forty vehicle accidents and one hundred and
19:51
Speaker 9: fifty service calls, trees down, gas leaks, those types of things.
19:56
Speaker 9: As of this morning, we've got four thousand and seventy
19:59
Speaker 9: eight peep without power. AP is working to restore. The
20:03
Speaker 9: goal is this afternoon to this evening, everyone should have
20:06
Speaker 9: power and unless something's changed. Since I've checked the weather
20:11
Speaker 9: this morning, I think we're going to have a dry day.
20:15
Speaker 9: Maybe a little rain on Thursday, but I think we're
20:17
Speaker 9: good for a couple of days.
20:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's that's certainly good news. I want to
20:20
Speaker 2: get this info out there too, Ben. The Martin Luther
20:23
Speaker 2: King Community Center on Donelly Street is accepting flood recovery items.
20:27
Speaker 2: The typical things bottled water, disinfectants, cleaners, fans, dehumidifiers, buckets, shovels,
20:34
Speaker 2: heavy duty trash bags, paper towels, work gloves, et cetera,
20:37
Speaker 2: et cetera. Also yesterday on midday, we interviewed someone from
20:40
Speaker 2: the KANASS Starting Points Family Supports Center and they're accepting
20:45
Speaker 2: items too.
20:46
Speaker 13: Now.
20:46
Speaker 2: They are at one two four oh four mccorkol Avenue
20:49
Speaker 2: in Chesapeake. And today starting noon, that group is going
20:52
Speaker 2: to be setting up at Sharon Dawes to hand out
20:54
Speaker 2: supplies and to offer lunch and ben You know, so
20:57
Speaker 2: many groups like that, churches said are all trying to
21:01
Speaker 2: help out. Also, the Kanal Charleston Health Department giving out
21:04
Speaker 2: tetanus and heaping titus shots starting at ten thirty today,
21:07
Speaker 2: they'll be on Garrison Avenue, Sugar Creek Drive starting at
21:11
Speaker 2: around two thirty an all day at the Health Department
21:13
Speaker 2: one to wait Lee Street East in Charleston. So so
21:16
Speaker 2: many people coming together. Yeah, and we appreciate everything they're doing.
21:19
Speaker 9: You know, that's important if you're out, you know, the
21:21
Speaker 9: people that are working in this flood and trying to
21:23
Speaker 9: clean out their homes, they get cut or nicked or pope.
21:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to make sure you say it all
21:28
Speaker 2: the time Man to understatement of the year. Floods are
21:30
Speaker 2: nasty there. I mean, now, it's not just the water,
21:34
Speaker 2: I mean it's the afterwards, yes, and the injuries that come,
21:38
Speaker 2: as you said, from that sort of stuff and them
21:41
Speaker 2: old and the milldew and you know, and people a
21:44
Speaker 2: lot of people don't feel safe. I mean, we had
21:46
Speaker 2: a lady that emailed, she emailed me last night around
21:49
Speaker 2: midnight and she said this is the fifth time that
21:51
Speaker 2: she's had water around her house and she's only lived
21:53
Speaker 2: in Campbell's Creek since twenty twenty two. So we're looking
21:57
Speaker 2: at some other things. We're looking at and hopefully we'll
22:01
Speaker 2: be up and announce this soon. But we're looking at
22:03
Speaker 2: some some programs at the state and the Feds offer
22:06
Speaker 2: to maybe help some folks, you know, because their property
22:10
Speaker 2: values are not what they should be because of all
22:14
Speaker 2: the flooding out. So we're gonna we're gonna look at
22:16
Speaker 2: some programs to maybe help them out. And will you
22:18
Speaker 2: hear the term, you know, whether people say emergency alert,
22:21
Speaker 2: will say in the usual low lying areas, and it
22:24
Speaker 2: happens all over the country. It's not just you know,
22:26
Speaker 2: Ikanah County type thing. You know, where if you're from
22:29
Speaker 2: a different county. You know where those areas are in
22:31
Speaker 2: your county. But it does seem like that lady who's
22:34
Speaker 2: been flooded five times since twenty twenty two, is that
22:36
Speaker 2: which one? That's what she said in the email. Yeah,
22:38
Speaker 2: all right, so I mean something's got to be there's Yeah,
22:41
Speaker 2: there's there's an issue there. I mean, there is an issue.
22:43
Speaker 2: You know, you only go do so much with mother nature.
22:45
Speaker 2: I mean when you get the floody. I mean we
22:47
Speaker 2: saw we interviewed the Chuck Smith after day for the
22:52
Speaker 2: Turnpike Authority Parks Authority about that issue that they had
22:55
Speaker 2: on the turnpike. When you have that much rain, there's
22:58
Speaker 2: only so much you can do. But there are some
23:00
Speaker 2: things that could be done. And we have a couple
23:02
Speaker 2: of text about that. But yeah, well and we're looking
23:04
Speaker 2: at that. You know, we started a flood mitigation program
23:07
Speaker 2: where we were looking at culverts and creeks and we
23:11
Speaker 2: were we've actually and work working with highways too to
23:14
Speaker 2: try to clear out some of the brush that had
23:18
Speaker 2: been accumulating in the culverts and and that's been successful
23:23
Speaker 2: and we've been doing that for about a year. We
23:25
Speaker 2: were actually getting ready to do an update on it,
23:27
Speaker 2: but just kind of a progress update and then this happened.
23:32
Speaker 2: But you know, people have called about vegetation in the
23:36
Speaker 2: creeks and you know, trees in the creeks and things
23:39
Speaker 2: like that, and that's that's a lot of that's a
23:41
Speaker 2: lot of the problem. You know, it gets backed up,
23:43
Speaker 2: and so we're definitely paying attention to that.
23:46
Speaker 1: We try.
23:46
Speaker 9: You know, there's there's a limit on what the county
23:50
Speaker 9: is allowed to do anything that involves a stream or
23:52
Speaker 9: a river, a creek that it's it's federal, you know,
23:56
Speaker 9: that's the county can't just go in there with the
23:58
Speaker 9: bulldozer and dredge it. Yeah, although you know a lot
24:02
Speaker 9: of people were commenting that we should, but we simply can't.
24:05
Speaker 9: So we have to work with the feds. We have
24:07
Speaker 9: to work with the state anytime we want to do
24:08
Speaker 9: something like.
24:09
Speaker 2: That, Texas, we want to stay to take our tax
24:11
Speaker 2: dollars and clean every stream and ditches in the state.
24:14
Speaker 2: We don't care what it costs. It's our money, doesn't
24:16
Speaker 2: belong to the politician. That's true.
24:19
Speaker 9: It's definitely not the politician's money. It's not my money.
24:22
Speaker 9: And we've got to do some dredging and there was
24:25
Speaker 9: and I've seen some photographs some of these bridges. I mean,
24:29
Speaker 9: you get so much sediment accumulating under the bridges, whether
24:33
Speaker 9: they're private or public, and there's.
24:35
Speaker 2: No clearance space under them.
24:37
Speaker 9: And so we actually have worked with the federal government
24:40
Speaker 9: and the state to go in and clean out underneath
24:42
Speaker 9: a lot of those. And we've got some before and
24:44
Speaker 9: after pictures that we were going to do on our
24:46
Speaker 9: update that shows some of the progress. I mean, we've
24:49
Speaker 9: actually cleaned it out a lot, but once those get clogged,
24:52
Speaker 9: I mean, everything's backed up from there.
24:54
Speaker 2: Texts for Ben, what about a type of program where
24:56
Speaker 2: the county works with different businesses or cleaning companies to
24:59
Speaker 2: do something like maybe rent out or sign out, borrow
25:02
Speaker 2: or loan things like sub pumps or power washers to
25:05
Speaker 2: people that don't have these or normally don't flood this badly.
25:08
Speaker 2: West Virginian's working together.
25:11
Speaker 9: Yeah, I think there are some nonprofits that do that,
25:14
Speaker 9: but yeah, certainly I wouldn't mind working with with them
25:17
Speaker 9: to get those out. You know, we've got to make
25:18
Speaker 9: sure we would be able to get them back is
25:21
Speaker 9: the big issue, you know, But uh, I know that
25:25
Speaker 9: that's always a big knee. The pressure washers and the
25:27
Speaker 9: cleaning supplies and pumps and wet vacs, you know. But
25:32
Speaker 9: it's uh, two nights ago when when the rain was going,
25:36
Speaker 9: I was down in the basement with a wet fact
25:38
Speaker 9: trying to clear out my basement too. I mean we
25:40
Speaker 9: were getting you know, just lots and lots of water
25:42
Speaker 9: in it. So, I mean I understand it's it's uh
25:47
Speaker 9: and it you know now it stinks. Yeah, you know,
25:50
Speaker 9: I've got to do you menifire down there trying to
25:52
Speaker 9: make it smell better. But it's a it's a it's
25:54
Speaker 9: a problem. And these people they're having their whole houses flooded. Yeah, cars, houses, everything.
25:59
Speaker 9: We U I'll have to show you this during a break.
26:01
Speaker 9: Somebody texted in a video here and I'll just read
26:04
Speaker 9: the text and you can look at it during the break.
26:05
Speaker 9: So as I called the county about this a few
26:07
Speaker 9: months ago, nothing's been done. Guthrie rode off Route twenty
26:11
Speaker 9: one north of Charleston.
26:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, show me the video. I'll have to show it
26:14
Speaker 2: to you during the break. I'll have to show it
26:16
Speaker 2: to you. Yeah.
26:16
Speaker 9: Well, obviously a lot of those calls don't come directly me,
26:19
Speaker 9: but they'll go to planning. And if we get a
26:21
Speaker 9: call and I get you know, I get messages too.
26:24
Speaker 9: People email me or they'll text me or reach out
26:27
Speaker 9: on social media. I don't see all them, but if
26:31
Speaker 9: I get them, then I send them to planning and
26:33
Speaker 9: then we try to come up with a plan. I mean,
26:34
Speaker 9: we have an issue right now out in cross Lanes
26:37
Speaker 9: that we're working on. We've got a few others that
26:40
Speaker 9: we're working on through planning, and but yeah, show if
26:43
Speaker 9: I can get the address in the video, I'll look
26:45
Speaker 9: at it all.
26:45
Speaker 2: I will show you that you're in a break. So
26:47
Speaker 2: what was the deal? Setting social media ablaze yesterday evening?
26:51
Speaker 2: I kind of got in on this late, and I mean,
26:54
Speaker 2: you want to clarify what happened?
26:57
Speaker 9: Well, you know, it really started and this goes on
27:00
Speaker 9: quite a bit and and I don't really I haven't
27:03
Speaker 9: really said much about it, but I think a lot
27:04
Speaker 9: of the first responders have been frustrated, particularly when you
27:08
Speaker 9: look back at the institute the chemical incident. It's been
27:12
Speaker 9: a couple months. I've lost track of time now, but
27:14
Speaker 9: you know, we had a lot of misinformation. When you're
27:18
Speaker 9: dealing with a situation like that. What was the situation.
27:21
Speaker 9: Let's catch people at well, it was the it was
27:24
Speaker 9: the reaction, the chemical reaction in one of the plants.
27:27
Speaker 2: We had, you know, a loss of life.
27:30
Speaker 9: I know we're talking about yesterday. Oh yesterday yesterday was
27:33
Speaker 9: what was what was rumored? Oh, people were saying that
27:36
Speaker 9: a dam in the Upperkanav Valley was going to break. Well,
27:40
Speaker 9: that's the marmad damn. I mean, if you're talking about
27:42
Speaker 9: a dam in the Africans about now, I think what
27:44
Speaker 9: they meant was a coal mine might blow out. But
27:46
Speaker 9: that's not what they were posting. They were saying, a
27:48
Speaker 9: dam's going to break, we need to evacuate.
27:49
Speaker 2: Well that's.
27:51
Speaker 9: If you don't have an evacuation plan, don't post that
27:54
Speaker 9: people should evacuate. Because what happened was it sent panic.
27:58
Speaker 9: So people thought the Marmette was going to blow People thought, now,
28:01
Speaker 9: people up in that area up and you know Campbell's
28:04
Speaker 9: Creek and all, they knew that there was water coming
28:06
Speaker 9: out of a mine and they were worried that the
28:08
Speaker 9: mine might blow out. But if there's water coming out
28:10
Speaker 9: of and then hopefully there's no pressure back up, you know,
28:13
Speaker 9: And that's what the mind inspectors were telling us but
28:15
Speaker 9: one of the reasons I did that was based upon
28:18
Speaker 9: some of the social media posts regarding the institute incident,
28:23
Speaker 9: where they were reporting, you know, multiple fatalities and hundreds
28:26
Speaker 9: injured and you need to evacuate around and they were
28:30
Speaker 9: and it was people that didn't have any information. They
28:32
Speaker 9: were basically relying on rumor and creating panic and it
28:36
Speaker 9: was just unnecessary. And I remember I was sitting at
28:39
Speaker 9: the I was in EOC and we had these people
28:42
Speaker 9: that were doing Facebook lives and pretending like they had
28:46
Speaker 9: this inside information from inside the plant. They didn't. It
28:48
Speaker 9: was all made up. And you know, we were on
28:53
Speaker 9: the phone with the hospitals and family members of these
28:56
Speaker 9: plant were we go back to the institute. Yeah, inst
28:58
Speaker 9: They were running from hospital hospital trying to find their
29:00
Speaker 9: family members, and these influencers were on there telling saying
29:03
Speaker 9: that you know, people had died, like talking about like
29:06
Speaker 9: fatal the number of fatalities, which was completely an act.
29:09
Speaker 9: And then there were there were two We're not trying
29:10
Speaker 9: to diminish that name, but it wasn't the facility. It
29:13
Speaker 9: wasn't on that date.
29:14
Speaker 2: I remember it well.
29:15
Speaker 9: It wasn't a situation that was being reported on social media.
29:18
Speaker 9: So when you do that, you know, I had I
29:20
Speaker 9: had a professor in law school, Frank Cleckley. It was
29:23
Speaker 9: a legend in the Supreme Court too, but he used
29:26
Speaker 9: to say, you know, once once that's out there, it's
29:28
Speaker 9: like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube. It's
29:30
Speaker 9: just impossible. And so people get that, they panic. It
29:32
Speaker 9: happened yesterday as well, people demanding or saying there's evacuations,
29:37
Speaker 9: and so I just wanted to remind people that you
29:40
Speaker 9: need to get your news from a trusted source.
29:44
Speaker 14: Uh.
29:44
Speaker 9: I promise you that nine to one one knows about
29:47
Speaker 9: an emergency before your local influencer does. I promise you
29:51
Speaker 9: that because the people call nine one one, they don't
29:53
Speaker 9: call the influencer down the street. And that's the way
29:56
Speaker 9: it works. So then they accumulate all that information and
29:58
Speaker 9: we disseminated base step on whether or not there's an
30:02
Speaker 9: actual risk. And so at that time, we had we
30:06
Speaker 9: knew that the mind had been inspected, we knew that
30:09
Speaker 9: that there wasn't pressure backing up, and we rely on
30:12
Speaker 9: the on the experts, I mean, just as anybody else should.
30:16
Speaker 9: And you know, there were just a lot of posts
30:18
Speaker 9: that were unnecessary and quite frankly made solely for the
30:21
Speaker 9: purpose of making money, you.
30:23
Speaker 2: Know, kind of lost in all this and with good
30:26
Speaker 2: reason to understand what the flooding went on the Canaw
30:28
Speaker 2: County Commission. Now you and Commissioner Natalie Tenant are the
30:33
Speaker 2: are the last two, I mean not the last two,
30:34
Speaker 2: but you're the chwo the two current and made it
30:38
Speaker 2: sound like it was a wrestling battle royal there from it,
30:41
Speaker 2: you'll be choosing a replacement for Lance Wheeler, who's taken
30:44
Speaker 2: over as director of the ambulance service to Thorndon. Now
30:46
Speaker 2: that'll be I guess will you explained this before? And
30:48
Speaker 2: Natalie the Tenant was on the show last week she
30:50
Speaker 2: did as well. The strike system the way it works.
30:52
Speaker 2: So we're gonna do it a week from this Thursday.
30:54
Speaker 2: It'll be August twenty seventh. The Republican Executive Committee submitted
30:58
Speaker 2: three names, and I apologie I don't have those three
31:00
Speaker 2: in front of me. I forget. Austin Gessel was one, Yeah,
31:04
Speaker 2: Jared Page was born and uh it Edward, I'll look
31:09
Speaker 2: it up. Edburg three names.
31:10
Speaker 9: Yeah, so we uh the way that the law is
31:14
Speaker 9: written now it changed is uh, we we have to
31:17
Speaker 9: do strikes, and she and I couldn't agree on a replacement.
31:19
Speaker 9: Of course I moved the Uh. I moved for Jared
31:22
Speaker 9: Page and uh, there wasn't a second so the motion failed.
31:26
Speaker 9: So then we we do the strike system. I strike first,
31:29
Speaker 9: so we take the names. It'll be in a public meeting.
31:32
Speaker 9: I strike the first name, Commissioner, Tenant strikes the second name,
31:36
Speaker 9: and whoever's left is your next Canaw County Commissioner.
31:40
Speaker 2: And so it should be uh, should be high drama,
31:43
Speaker 2: hopefully not. Hopefully not. I don't know who it's going
31:46
Speaker 2: to be. We'll see. I got a text here from
31:49
Speaker 2: somebody reminded me that the Canal and I've actually thought
31:52
Speaker 2: about this. You were sending about the equipment of the
31:54
Speaker 2: Canal Library. Now, I don't know if they have sub
31:56
Speaker 2: pumps and things of that nature, but they do have
31:57
Speaker 2: a lot of tools that can be checked. That's right. Yes,
32:00
Speaker 2: I'd forgotten about that as well. All right, so we
32:02
Speaker 2: get out, and before we let you go, I want
32:03
Speaker 2: to talk about Lance Wheeler, being the former commission now
32:06
Speaker 2: the director of the Ambulance Authority had him on the
32:08
Speaker 2: show a couple of weeks ago. It seems like he's
32:10
Speaker 2: doing a lot of good things.
32:11
Speaker 9: You know what, we needed somebody to focus on the budget.
32:13
Speaker 9: The number one problem with the Ambulance Authority was budgetary.
32:17
Speaker 9: It was it was never you know, clinical care, it
32:20
Speaker 9: was not really operations. It is mostly budgetary. And so
32:25
Speaker 9: I think him and Jason Surgent working together is the
32:28
Speaker 9: right combination. We've already seen so far within the first
32:31
Speaker 9: what's he been there a month?
32:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that. July was his life first. Yeah.
32:35
Speaker 9: He saved almost three hundred thousand dollars in the first month.
32:38
Speaker 9: So that's that's what we need because we've got we
32:40
Speaker 9: had a serious budgetary issue.
32:42
Speaker 10: Now.
32:42
Speaker 9: The board has been working very hard on that, which
32:44
Speaker 9: we appreciate, but we need we needed Lance to go
32:48
Speaker 9: in there and kind of affect some significant change, especially
32:52
Speaker 9: on the financial front, and he's doing that. He's doing
32:55
Speaker 9: a great job.
32:56
Speaker 2: Text. How about meetings in person and on zoom with
32:59
Speaker 2: representatives from the state as well as all fifty five
33:01
Speaker 2: county commissions as well as each county's mayors and find
33:05
Speaker 2: what exactly every area of each county needs a tension
33:08
Speaker 2: to reduce a number of flood risks that we all have.
33:11
Speaker 2: Get all these needs discussed. One informative meeting. Maybe one
33:14
Speaker 2: town has helpful for another, etc. Yeah.
33:16
Speaker 9: I mean that's a good idea. We're actually going to
33:18
Speaker 9: do that. Tom Bloom up in Mond County has done
33:21
Speaker 9: that with regard to the jail bill, so he has
33:24
Speaker 9: put together.
33:27
Speaker 2: A zoom.
33:27
Speaker 9: I think it's next week where the various county commissions,
33:31
Speaker 9: the president of each county commission is going to get
33:33
Speaker 9: on a zoom and talk about ways to work on
33:36
Speaker 9: the jail bill. From a state wide perspective, it would
33:39
Speaker 9: certainly also work on flooding and emergency management. I think
33:43
Speaker 9: that's a great Adua.
33:43
Speaker 2: You did have something you want to say about the
33:45
Speaker 2: jail bill here in Kano.
33:46
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, Well, you know, so we've had the task
33:47
Speaker 9: force in place for a couple months now, where I'm
33:51
Speaker 9: waiting kind of we really need six months of them
33:55
Speaker 9: working to see exactly what it's going to do. But
33:59
Speaker 9: for the first time in years, for the first month,
34:02
Speaker 9: our jail bill has leveled off, which I.
34:05
Speaker 2: Could not believe. That's big news. It's big.
34:08
Speaker 9: So now we're going to try to reduce it. But
34:10
Speaker 9: you know, you're talking about we're spending four hundred and
34:13
Speaker 9: fifty thousand dollars a month on jail bill. I would
34:16
Speaker 9: much rather put that into the Upper Canal Valley on
34:19
Speaker 9: flood issues and in cross Lanes on flood issues, much
34:21
Speaker 9: rather spend it there than you know, housing people awaiting
34:24
Speaker 9: sentencing or trial.
34:26
Speaker 4: So the.
34:28
Speaker 9: That was the first time in years that we've actually
34:30
Speaker 9: seen a level off on the jail bill. So the
34:33
Speaker 9: task force is working. Now we just need to see
34:36
Speaker 9: a decline in the jail but which I'm hoping we'll
34:38
Speaker 9: see over the next few months. Some of the programs
34:40
Speaker 9: they've implemented, it's just going to take a little time
34:42
Speaker 9: to get those kind of processed through the system.
34:45
Speaker 2: All right, Now, those three names, by the way, I
34:46
Speaker 2: was right it was Ed Burgess. Okay, so Austin Gessel,
34:49
Speaker 2: Jared Page, and at Burgess soon but yeah, I was
34:52
Speaker 2: right it was Ed Burgess was the third one. I
34:55
Speaker 2: appreciate that I'd completely forgotten. I remember Jared, I remembered.
34:58
Speaker 9: I read the the news stories once it was released,
35:01
Speaker 9: but I haven't even looked up their bios or anything.
35:03
Speaker 2: Okay, And that meeting is going to be next Thursday,
35:05
Speaker 2: Next Thursday, August twenty seven. All right, Cannan County Commissioned
35:09
Speaker 2: President Ben Slango. Appreciate you being here man, Thanks for
35:11
Speaker 2: thanks a lot and you and Mayor good and we're
35:13
Speaker 2: going to make a return appearance on midday to day
35:15
Speaker 2: I think to kind of talk about, you know, broadly,
35:17
Speaker 2: you know, things going on the city and also with
35:19
Speaker 2: the county as well.
35:20
Speaker 9: Yeah, and she's had she's got a lot of good
35:22
Speaker 9: ideas and she's been out with the workers. I mean,
35:24
Speaker 9: I think she was out all night the night before last,
35:26
Speaker 9: you know, with with the workers. And she's been working
35:30
Speaker 9: very hard at it.

Speaker 2: Radiothon it is back. Let's uh talk about the time
39:00
Speaker 2: and we start when the first thing Thursday morning.
39:03
Speaker 1: Right Thursday morning, six am.
39:05
Speaker 17: Steve and Jenny Jenny's going to be on site for
39:08
Speaker 17: V one hundred and a couple of our other stations
39:10
Speaker 17: here in Charleston are participating in radio fon two ninety
39:14
Speaker 17: six to one KWS. And you know, it's very interesting
39:20
Speaker 17: to be on the tenth floor at WVU Medicine Children's
39:23
Speaker 17: looking at Mylon Pushgar Stadium and knowing that one hundred
39:26
Speaker 17: and eighty three thousand kids visited last year at WVU
39:30
Speaker 17: Medicine Galasano Children So that would fill WVU Mylon's Pushgar Stadium.
39:37
Speaker 2: Like three times. That's incredible. Yeah, it really is. And
39:41
Speaker 2: you know, we've been a part of this for a
39:43
Speaker 2: number of years. And anything that you can do when
39:46
Speaker 2: kids are suffering like this logan, I mean, anything you
39:51
Speaker 2: can do to give them a little bit of comfort
39:52
Speaker 2: while they're there.
39:53
Speaker 17: Absolutely, it's something as small as a teddy bear, because
39:55
Speaker 17: they can't take their own toys or comfort bears, stuffed animals,
40:00
Speaker 17: things like that to the hospital. So it's little things
40:03
Speaker 17: that give them some normalcy that your funds are, your
40:06
Speaker 17: donations are going back to.
40:08
Speaker 2: And of course there's so many people. I don't know
40:09
Speaker 2: whether you have a list or not, but I do
40:11
Speaker 2: not have in front of me you a list of
40:12
Speaker 2: all the people making it possible as far as our
40:14
Speaker 2: sponsors go.
40:15
Speaker 17: I do, of course you do, Yeah, We want to
40:18
Speaker 17: thank the sex team at Wealth Enhancement Group, Best Virginia
40:21
Speaker 17: Heating and Cooling, Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration, PoCA Valley, the
40:24
Speaker 17: Paytent Law Firm, and Gomart.
40:26
Speaker 2: Big shout out to all of them. Again, we're going
40:28
Speaker 2: to be telling you some of their stories and not
40:30
Speaker 2: so much commercials for them, but why it is that
40:33
Speaker 2: they get involved in things like that. Absolutely, because whenever
40:36
Speaker 2: we have these types of events. A few of those
40:37
Speaker 2: that you mentioned there, a couple of them are new,
40:39
Speaker 2: but for the most part, those were the first ones
40:41
Speaker 2: that step up. Right, West Virginia based companies, they just
40:44
Speaker 2: step up and say what can we do to help?
40:45
Speaker 6: Right?
40:46
Speaker 17: Yeah, And just some some facts for you here in
40:48
Speaker 17: kanawh County last year, one four and twenty six out
40:53
Speaker 17: patient visits, So that could be at WVU Medicine Thomas
40:55
Speaker 17: because they have children's down here as well, or could
40:58
Speaker 17: be at the actual facility in Morgantown and fifty four
41:02
Speaker 17: inpatient stays in kanahah County last year.
41:04
Speaker 2: I mean that's so you want to try to bring
41:06
Speaker 2: it close to home. Absolutely, it does. It's just helping
41:08
Speaker 2: Kanawa County. I'm sure the other surrounding counties. You know,
41:11
Speaker 2: Putnam and Play and Roan and Jackson. I'm sure that
41:14
Speaker 2: they've all got big numbers there as well.
41:15
Speaker 17: And you know, I always say, everybody knows somebody who
41:19
Speaker 17: have a family member, a child, a daughter, a mom
41:24
Speaker 17: who has utilized.
41:25
Speaker 2: WVU Medicine children. And you have a personal story.
41:27
Speaker 14: I do.
41:27
Speaker 7: Yeah.
41:27
Speaker 17: My cousin Ainsley, she suffered an eye injury a few
41:30
Speaker 17: years back and in Mineral County. She was shipped to
41:34
Speaker 17: mon County at WVU Medicine Galasano's and she was treated.
41:38
Speaker 17: Everything's fine now.
41:39
Speaker 1: But again, everybody has some sort.
41:42
Speaker 2: Of connection to WVU Medicine Children. And you can text

41:56
Speaker 17: And that's live now. So if if you may forget
42:00
Speaker 17: it on Thursday or Friday, we're talking about it. We're
42:01
Speaker 17: not gonna let you go ahead, No, we won't, we won't,
42:04
Speaker 17: but go ahead. Yeah, that that link is active now,

42:18

42:21
Speaker 2: the opportunity to do that, but for one, I understand
42:23
Speaker 2: talking to you and others. Yeah, that really brings it home.
42:26
Speaker 17: It does when you do that, especially when you have
42:28
Speaker 17: the family sitting right in front of you and just
42:31
Speaker 17: just it's so raw, like just just sharing your stories.
42:35
Speaker 2: Good stuff.
42:36
Speaker 6: All right.
42:36

Speaker 1: Nighter's kickoff of youth football season.
45:23
Speaker 2: Save it Away from ten on a Tuesday morning. Welcome
45:27
Speaker 2: back to the show. Sounds of the Aim of Steel
45:28
Speaker 2: band Love. Those guys got an event coming up in
45:32
Speaker 2: a band right there as you guys right there. Just
45:34
Speaker 2: look them up on Facebook. Dave Island showing five at
45:36
Speaker 2: elone Brown to You, parted by Morgan to Morgan If
45:38
Speaker 2: you're injured, Hiher Morga to Morgan, America's largest injury A
45:40
Speaker 2: law firm, tex says this was for the Attorney General. Well,
45:43
Speaker 2: that's on me because I did not see the texts
45:45
Speaker 2: and I think we had already wrapped up at that point.
45:47
Speaker 2: But in case he's still listening, I'll read it anyway.
45:49
Speaker 2: With so many saints now such as Michigan, Minnesota, and
45:52
Speaker 2: slowly Texas basically allowing sharia law to shead the US
45:56
Speaker 2: Constitution should West Virginia pass a bill. And I can't
46:01
Speaker 2: believe I'm actually saying this declare that no other type
46:03
Speaker 2: of legal status will ever override or pervert the US Constitution,
46:07
Speaker 2: says a Texter. A text okay, text, I think we
46:16
Speaker 2: need to have several great representatives of who we West
46:20
Speaker 2: Virginias truly are that are not nationally known, like Ben Selango,
46:24
Speaker 2: Lance Wheeler, Frank Mullins, Amy Shielder a good one to
46:27
Speaker 2: visit both Houses of Congress and the legacy media journalists
46:31
Speaker 2: to teach these people how to freaking get along even
46:33
Speaker 2: though they're from different sides of the political spectrum, without
46:36
Speaker 2: being just nasty, insulting and disrespectful to each other. That's
46:39
Speaker 2: the issue. The sheer, mean girls type of personal spide
46:43
Speaker 2: and hatred toward each other. I'm sick of it in DC.
46:45
Speaker 2: Teach them to be adults. I want to get this
46:49
Speaker 2: out there. You hear me talk about the back Patty program,
46:52
Speaker 2: a backpack buddy program with a good buddy, dougah Irwin.
46:57
Speaker 2: He sent me some information. They're going to be packing
46:59
Speaker 2: personal care boxes tonight at six at the Tayes Valley
47:02
Speaker 2: Church of Nazarene. They're going to pack over four hundred
47:05
Speaker 2: boxes of personal care items that will be mailed to
47:08
Speaker 2: students ahead at the start of the year. Now they've
47:09
Speaker 2: already mailed forty five hundred boxes this summer, and they
47:14
Speaker 2: say Doug says any sex. They look forward to helping
47:16
Speaker 2: many more kids before school starts, and so they need
47:19
Speaker 2: to help with this.
47:20
Speaker 3: Again.
47:20
Speaker 2: It's at six o'clock to night Taes Valley Church and
47:22
Speaker 2: the Nazarene and community service certificates are available for all students.
47:27
Speaker 2: So you know, if you're going to graduate in West Virginia,
47:29
Speaker 2: you got to do so many community service hours. So
47:33
Speaker 2: just check it out. And again you can just go
47:34
Speaker 2: to backpack Buddies their Facebook pages to go offer the
47:36
Speaker 2: information there the event though six o'clock tonight at Tayes
47:39
Speaker 2: Valley Church, Nazarene. Appreciating a good friend Doug Irwin throwing
47:44
Speaker 2: that out there and giving us that information text okay,
47:54
Speaker 2: hold on. Sometimes we get a lot of texts from
47:57
Speaker 2: you know, from the same number. So the straight offorn
48:00
Speaker 2: Moves is an American territory. Now, anyone else tired of
48:03
Speaker 2: Donald Trump and maga's agitation propaganda. This is administration has
48:09
Speaker 2: been nothing but starring anger, putitive policies, war mongering, financial
48:13
Speaker 2: corruption on the scale never seen. The United States is
48:16
Speaker 2: worth off because of Donald Trump. I want to remind
48:21
Speaker 2: you Marsia University Quarterback Club at Charleston doing their annual

49:17
Speaker 2: join me. Jeff Jenkins has the news Dave Weekly will

Speaker 2: stop by and of course more on the flood recovery
49:21
Speaker 2: efforts in Kanawa County and Fanett County and in the
49:24
Speaker 2: other areas as well. Also, and as I mentioned earlier,
49:27
Speaker 2: Charleston Mayor Amy Shuoler a good one, along with Kenah
49:30
Speaker 2: County Commissioned President Ben Selango, both going to be on
49:32
Speaker 2: the show today. Mike Nolting is going to join us
49:35
Speaker 2: to talk about this whole thing with the green buses
49:38
Speaker 2: schools starting and they're parked, so we'll talk to Mike Nolton.
49:41
Speaker 2: He did a story that you can read at wv
49:43
Speaker 2: metronews dot com. We'll talk to Nolting about that. And
49:45
Speaker 2: the mayor of the village of Barbarersville, Chris Tatum, will
49:48
Speaker 2: join us on the show today, and of course we'll
49:50
Speaker 2: do open line West Virginia as well. Again, know Amanda
49:53

49:55

50:04
Speaker 2: our good friend Millie Snyder is going to stop by,
50:07
Speaker 2: and also Adam Harris from Mountain Stage is going to
50:10
Speaker 2: stop by as well. Mountain Stage is really kind of interesting.
50:13
Speaker 2: As you know, a couple of times a week or
50:14
Speaker 2: a couple times a month, should say our sister Station

50:27
Speaker 2: Steve Animal will be there, but I think we're kind
50:30
Speaker 2: of celebrating Mountain Stage there as well. So Adam Harris
50:32
Speaker 2: is going to join us to talk about that coming
50:34
Speaker 2: up on the show tomorrow. Now. Programming noticed I said
50:39
Speaker 2: Amanda is not on the show today. On a midday tomorrow,
50:43
Speaker 2: I will be here doing this show, but i will
50:45
Speaker 2: not be on midday tomorrow because I've been asked to
50:47
Speaker 2: MC the State of the Valley event. It's an annual
50:50
Speaker 2: collaboration between groups like the Charleston Aary Alliance and the
50:54
Speaker 2: Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, Greater hunting Sson Area Chamber
50:57
Speaker 2: of Commerce. I think Advantage Valley is involved in this
51:00
Speaker 2: as well. It's a gathering of just about every business

51:16
Speaker 2: the past, in the in the past there it sells out,
51:23
Speaker 2: and I'm presuming it's probably going to sell out if
51:27
Speaker 2: it hasn't already. In contact the Putnam County Chamber if
